It really weirds me out when people hc Shu as trans, especially transfem, because if that were true he’d be a completely different character.

If he was transmasc, that implies that he’s AFAB. This in turn means that the whole point of his childhood, that being that he was shunned and bullied by his peers and even family members for being a boy and liking “girl” things, wouldn’t even exist because he would’ve been confirming to gender norms the whole time.

If he was transfem, it would make that whole point of his personal journey/story about defying gender norms completely moot. You’d just end up shoving him right back into the box that the whole purpose of his character is set to break, and that’s not a good thing from a storytelling perspective.

I’ve seen a fair handful of people celebrating that he’s “officially implied transfem” after Raison D’etre, and that simply isn’t true. His grandfather is the one being implied to be trans. The way Shu interprets the story of his grandfather is one of two men, and in the play him and Mika put on that’s how it’s portrayed. This is because Shu was looking to relate to the story, contrary to Mika who was looking for the “truth”.

Shu has never been trans, nor has that ever been implied to be the case, he’s always just been gender-non-conforming. I see it as somewhat inherently invalidating to his canon identity to try and push the idea that he’s transfem just because he likes dolls and dresses (especially since most of the people in this fandom seem that have pretty progressive mindsets, so you’d think that a canonically GNC cis character would be well received), regardless of the fact that unlike someone like Arashi he has never expressed a want to actually become a woman.

The same concept would apply to Hajime as well, and I think in his case in particular it’s worth noting that he actively has said he dislikes being seen as a girl, and yet people will still have those transfem headcanons. This is not me trying to say I’m against that type of hc in general, it just frustrates me when it’s used on a character where it actively goes against who they are.

Like can we also talk about how weirdly [gender confining] some of these people are to Raine when putting them in a relationship with a [any gender that is not nonbinary/gnc]…

When they're with Eda you see people call them the man in the relationship. "The one that wears the pants" Sometimes drawn with facial hair or appearing taller, or straight up referring to them as a transman instead of someone who is transmasc non-binary, more "masculine"

With they're with Darius you see people point out they're petite, they're soft-spoken and the definitive "homemaker" the one that would "take care of the kids", they're drawn rounder and appear softer more, "feminine"

As you can see, both of these common generalizations and/or phrases are wildly wrong to refer to as a nonbinary character as.

However, just because a non-binary character presents [x] trait does not make them more [gender] - they're simply non-binary. They do not conform.

They are portrayed as a non-binary character, specifically transmasc as their VA Avi Roque protrays them.

There is no wrong/right way to be nonbinary and/or gender non-conforming

Being in a relationship with a woman or man as a non-binary person, you are not meant to adopt a "default role" If your partner is a woman you are not the man - you're non-binary. If your partner is a man you are not a woman - you're non-binary.

If you have facial hair that does not make you a man, you're still non-binary. If you wear a dress that does not make you a woman, you're still non-binary

Insisting that traits as trivial as this are exclusive to a single gender is wrong.

You can have facial hair and be a woman. You can wear a dress and be a man. Gender is fluid for everyone. Unique for all people.

Raine is not "the man" in their relationship with Eda.

Raine is not "the woman" in their relationship with Darius.

Raine is non-binary.

Their way to express themself and their gender identity is their choice. They don't need to "take control as a man" or "step back as a woman" because they're neither. If you believe you must act a certain way to be a gender, or believe that certain traits are only for a certain gender - please reevaluate what gender means to you.

Raine is a transmasc non-binary character, them doing something that's "traditionally feminine" does not make them a woman.

Raine is a transmasc non-binary character, them doing something that's "traditionally mascunline" does not make them a trans man.

There is no wrong way to express that you are non-binary, and there is no wrong way to love somebody that isn't non-binary.

Raine is a non-binary person that strictly goes by they/them.

Raine is a non-binary person that is short.

Raine is a non-binary person that is powerful.

Raine is a non-binary person who is kind.

Raine is a non-binary person who protects.

None of these traits have any assigned gender to them, anybody can be these things.

In same-sex couples, there is no partner that is required to be more "feminine" or "masculine" to "balance out the relationship."

Raine is simply themself. A transmasc non-binary person, who goes unlabeled. Any interpretation of them as a non-binary person is not wrong, it is only wrong if you believe they are actually a man/woman - or if you believe they must act a certain way to "meet the qualifications of being non-binary." With no canonical sexuality confirmed, that is left up to headcanons

And a very very, healthy reminder to all Owl House fans. If somebody has a different headcanon that is harmless, they're not evil. If you headcanon a character as trans, and another does not - they're not transphobic. If you headcanon a character as a lesbian and somebody doesn't, that does not make them lesbophobic.

Another healthy reminder, you don't need to prove your headcanons as canon or find a reason to justify hating a harmless one. You can have those opinions. You can hate Willuz and you can hate Huntlow. What you can't do is hate people for their harmless headcanons. It is not a competition to see which ship or headcanon is most canon. You should have fun, they're meant to be fun. If somebody thinks differently than you, it does not make them "weird" or "wrong".

If you headcanon Raine would hate wearing dresses and/or having facial hair - that's okay.

If you headcanon Raine would love wearing dresses and/or having facial hair - that's okay too.

Henry: - all he does is eat hot chip be bisexual and lie /j - has a preference for women so i think him realizing hes not straight is like hey wait a minute hey wait wait - joey was his gay awakening,,, real -gets burnout super easy, it probably frustrates him a lot when he cant draw - drawing is a big comfort for him - has pretty bad social anxiety, but has become pretty good at dealing with it!

Joey: - gay. this man is not into women at all sorry 💀 "i just dont have time for girls" yeah sure fruitcake - watch me project once again and give this man bpd. like im sorry his whole thing with henry?? im not even explaining it but if you get it you get it yea - also definitely has adhd - wheelchair user !! he is able to walk, but he still needs the wheelchair when flare ups get real bad. he is stubborn though and refuses to use it at work or when hes out of the house

Jack: - wheelchair user jack my BELOVED idk where the hc came from but im all for it - he cant walk, but is able to get around just fine! watch him try and do wheelies to impress sammy only to almost fall over - 100% autistic as well. him and sammy are able to be autism together - unlabeled aromantic - hes such a loser /loving

Grant: - poor guy gets chronic headaches someone give him some painkillers - hes got generalized anxiety disorder this man cannot get a break - demisexual and demiromantic,, mans is double demi

*Allies of the community are those that don't just tolerate LGBTQ+ people, but actively support and defend them.

Shenanigumi might be the only who's done this before...

(Sorry for not including Heisuke, I just don't think he fits anything here. I think he's a straight cis guy that would not go out of his way to support the LGBTQ+ community. He probably has other things on his mind... I don't HC him as queerphobic, just not as an ally.)

For those in the aromantic&asexual lines: I don't have a HC what their sexual/romantic identity is, I guess I'm open to any interpretation there. For the people in the pan&bi and gay&lesbian lines, I mostly HC their romantic identities to allign with their sexual ones.

(I saw someone musing about whether or not Kaoru is trans* (since identical twins usually share the same biological sex) and... I can't see how? Him "having the wrong genitals" (as in: him being AMAB) is a fact important to his backstory and he seems to have always identified as boy/man, even before the attack on his village, no matter what the Nagumo did to him. (Kaoru and Chizuru being oni is probably an excuse for how it's possible that they're identical twins with different sexes). But it's a trans* spectrum so while I can't see how he could be MTF trans*, maybe he's GNC/demi-boy/agender/enby?)

aight update on the future au:

polls not over yet but it’s leaning heavily at McCormick, so i’ll give you my pcov designs and some headcanons for the McCormick parents rn cause out of all the adults they’re my favs 💕💖

i love them so much you don’t understand (also surprise surprise Kenny married Butters [changed his name to Vic], no one could have ever guessed that considering one of my first art posts on this account was a bunny comic 🙄)

anyway they both have mullets cause i just really like mullets, and Vic shaved the side of her head cause that’s my headcanon of what butter’s hair is in the show (cause his little tomato puff makes no sense) and i feel like he would have kept those.

more details and explanations for some things under the cut (aka im ranting about my fav characters and how they work as a couple with little bits of au lore sprinkled in)

Vic-

you may notice i’m jumping back and forth between he and she for Vic, and that’s cause he uses she/he. Don’t get me wrong, I love Butters and Marjorine, but i’ve seen the argument between them so many times. “Butters is a Cis guy!” “Marj is a trans girl!” fuck it Vic is a gnc icon and picks whatever gender he wants depending on whatever the fuck he wants and he’s hot both masc and fem. and i mean very hot. Butters in the show gets a couple descriptive things, namely in the “It’s Butters!” song hes said to have dimples, and more importantly when his father thinks he’s wearing his mom’s makeup when he’s not. that means this kids got perfectly flushed cheeks, nice eyelashes and eyebrows, and unblemished porcelain skin even at 8 years old. that paired with his blonde hair and presumably blue eyes (i’ve never met a blondie without blue eyes), emphasized cheek bones we see in the pcov special (implying he’s got a more slender face and likely more slender and long figure in general, which is the what literal modeling agents tend to look for btw [i would know my grandma and mom were models because they were both pretty with thin frames and lanky limbs]), and the scar over his left eye makes him insanely attractive.

the scar especially gives him something to stand out with; make people remember him (sometimes he even takes out his glass eye just so people get a good look at his empty socket and that image can be seared into their brains). being androgynous also helps make everyone, whether they’re attracted to men or women, find him hot. no one even knows if Vic is short for Victor or Victoria, and that’s the point. also due to how he grew up in this au (spoiler alert, Vic’s life was awful for a lot of years between beginning of high school and when he reconnected with Kenny as an adult [that’s an understatement Vic is by far the most traumatized character in this au]), he doesn’t feel particularly comfortable with being on one perfect end of the gender spectrum; girl or boy. So no matter how he’s presenting, he’s always going to look somewhat androgynous.

Kenny-

Kenny is kinda the same, i just wanted him to look more cool and unhinged. I got rid of the full beard cause i can’t draw it and also hated it, but i added snake bites cause they’re cool. I also got rid of the beer on his shirt cause I feel like after being raised by two alcoholic assholes he wouldn’t drink much as an adult. oh yeah and he’s a he/they now cause you can’t tell me princess kenny didn’t awaken something in him. i feel like he would go to a fancy award ceremony for some massive science breakthrough in a gown. he’s the typa guy to accept some prestigious award for his scientific findings in a slutty silk dress. Basically everything I changed in Kenny’s design was to make him look more like the wacky uncle who gives children weapons (spoilers he is). i kept how the pcov specials made his stockier cause honestly i just like him a little bit bigger. I feel like that’s a treat to himself. he spent so long in a home where he’d probably have to starve some night cause they couldn’t afford to eat, so when he becomes an extremely successful adult, he can give himself the luxury of eating three meals a day or eating junk food that was too expensive for him. he can finally afford to be a little bit heavier; it’s just proof that he’s made it this far from where he came. He’s also more of a mad scientist in this au a la Dr. Mephesto, but far more ethical in what/how he runs experiments.

both-

Their dynamic and characterization in this au is by far the most fleshed out because of how much I like these two characters, and it’s genuinely my favorite couple in the au. I might make a whole separate post on how they operate as parents because they’re both so horrifically worried that they may accidentally follow in their own parents footsteps. Yknow, generational trauma and whatnot. They’re also both insanely unhinged. Both of them are just balls of the walls crazy, which stems from both of them being traumatized (i mentioned Vic is the most traumatized in this au, Kenny is the second most cause of dying thousands of times over his whole life).

Kenny has lost all grasp of physical or mortal fear cause by this time in his life he’s died so much he’s lost any sense of connection to injury, even to other people. It’s difficult for him to register that other people are mortal because it’s such a foreign concept to him, and that can lead to some issues in the lab given that it’s such a dangerous place to work. Meanwhile, Vic has the people she cares about, and has a hard time grasping that people she doesn’t care about aren’t just stepping stones. She was used her whole life, then used and hurt people as an adult (yes she was an NFT bro, no she’s not anymore), but now she has a hard time not snapping back into the NFT thing and scheming every cent out of whoever gave her a dirty look at Walmart. Kenny and Vic can and generally do help each other out with these things, but they can also be each others worst instigators (“oh yeah you should absolutely do that consequences be damned” “no he had it coming to him don’t worry” “yeah fuck him up! beat his ass!” typa shit. they support each other non-conditionally but sometimes that leads to them getting arrested).

Happy Pride. These are my Limbus Company headcanons. ID in alt, long ass explanations + extra headcanons under the cut bc I didn't like the look of when i put two flags on each character.

The City is a hellscape but it IS established that being GNC is cool in ruina, and I'm going off of the assumption that being nonconforming is fine for the most part, but queer identities aren't really something people talk about, BUT also it does vary wildly depending on the part of the city, leading to culture shock with a few characters having come from more conservative areas (sinclair, don quixote) when seeing people from more relaxed areas just living their best lives (faust, outis). (warning for mentions of trans and homophobia)

Dante isn't sure if they identified like this already or if they were just kind of assigned nonbinary when they had amnesia and has not questioned this. If they were to think about it, they would still be nonbinary, but maybe in a different way? They have the Agonies to go through and amnesia to wretsle with though, so they don't spend much time thinking abt gender when they;re fine with it as it is.

Sinclair is an egg still, but will eventually realise he is bigender and gay (for guys). He is aware of and respects nonbinary people and ppl who use other pronouns like Dante but subconsiously thinks that you need to have like, qualifications to be allowed identify as trans and it's not something that just anyone is allowed to do. He still hasn't accepted that he likes boys OR that he's not into girls. Give him some time, poor kid has catholic guilt in a setting with no catholics, he thinks every little thing he does is sinful, nevermind the stuff that other people actually say is a sin. He thinks its fine and is supportive when others are queer but not when he is.

Ishmael is a lesbian. She got up to some yuri on that boat. Nowadays she's too focused on revenge to think about romance though.

Meursault is pan. He doesn't care about gender, just appearance (he has comically high standards here, usually) and whether you make him do stuff he doesn't wanna do or not (he has comically low standards here, usually).

Rodya is bi. She will flirt with guys and girls alike, but when she's chatting up a woman she takes extra care to make sure it can easily be taken as a joke. My source for this is when she's flirting with Faust in canto 4. Bi4Bi with Gregor, at least in the LCB universe; she gets with others in different realities.

Gregor is also bi, nad pretty casual about it. Like, he gets nervous when chatting with anyone hot, but he's no more nervous with guys than with girls. I also like him being a trans guy, but I still need to workshop my lore for that. Bi4Bi with Rodya in the LCB universe, damn near bitchless in every other one. He has NO game.

Yi sang is something called reflectshift, which was defined by the coiner as "a gender related to mirrors , reflections & shapeshifting". He uses any pronouns but he doesn't tell people this and so people only use he/him so now he yearns for just one weirdo to break the cycle and call him something else. He will not ever express this sentiment, nor will he ever bring up his gender unless prompted, though if he is directly asked he will go on a long poetic rant about it.

Faust was a woman but then she made that contract with that undefined being and their minds connected so now Faust is a demigirl and Faust is Faust.

Outis is a lesbian the way the way many ancient greeks were gay. Men just aren't as smart or hot or personable or cool or strong as women, you see, they don't have the soul,

Hong Lu is gay. He thinks straight people are like, not real. All the books he's read only have straight romance in them but he thinks it's like, just one of those things that people think they should add, or like a job, where no-one actually WANTS to be straight but they have to, for some undefined reason.

Ryoshu is a trans guy. He cut his own hair with a sword in a dramatic moment. It's not that he hides his identity, but he's fine with people assuming he's a cis woman bc it is funny. He will confidently walk into mens restrooms or walk around in just boxers or whatever and everyone is always just like "oh man, ryoshu's doing a fucking bit again", which is funny enough that he doesn't say anything. If someone were to react with genuine hatred or something, though, he would walk up to them, explain that he IS a guy, and kill them. It's an art.

Don Quixote is a lesbiknight, a gender "related to being a lesbian and being a knight". She used to be out, and used she/her, he/him, and the neopronouns he/her/heroself, but after one too many incidents from before joining LCB and after losing sancho (her one ally) she has decided to just be a normal weird girl since people are nicer that way.

Heathcliff is currently only about Catherine, but if she had been another gender, he would have fallen just as hard. While he hasn't processed his identity, he is still perfectly happy to knock the brains out of homo/transphobes, because he likes hitting stuck up bastards with his baseball bat and he does feel very strongly that people should be able to do whatever they want without any buggers butting in on wtuff thats not their buisness. Good for him.

Demian is bi, and his gender is "a normal human boy" or "a boy, which is one of the most common genders held by homo sapiens, who are the dominent species on earth, not counting us abnormalities, of course".

Oh yeah also Charon is a lesbian. So is Sonya. That one person who said Sonya is a he/him lesbian is so real.

OH AND ANGELA IS A TRANS GUY. I will die on this fucking hill.

Sinclair's entire section here is inspired by both the game and the book. Ishmael was pure vibes. Ryoshu was inspired by the insane backstory i came up with for her after reading hell screen. You could read hell screen and not in a million years understand the backstory i came up with. Hong Lu not knowing abt straight people was inspired by my own experiences being uninterested in romance. Thank you.

Just finished reading your transfem Saionji/transmasc Nanami & Anthy notes and I loved it so much. I wish there were more people discuss RGU from a trans lense/thinking about how RGU characters being trans would affect the narrative and help explore the already present under other lights themes (because I think that for what RGU's world and theme are it would jive well with trans themes and for discussing the community as a whole), and your notes were such a joy to read.

You captured the characters perfectly and transmasc Nanami has all of my heart I love him so much. I have been rotating the idea of a transmasc/gnc nanami into my head for a long time, but I never really realised how to articulate it, and I think you did a really great job with him.

Him envying Anthy for being able to wear a dress (even if it's the rose bride dress...) but at the same time fearing becoming what the rose bride dress actually is and just expressing all of those feelings into hate for Anthy not dressing like "a proper boy", UGHHHH I LOVED THAT CONCEPT.

Saionji still having flings with Touga despite the fact that he will never chase after her and hating Anthy because she's the only woman Touga shows "interest" in and actively "chases" after, while she's just another conquest for him, she's just like any other girl for him. Gut wrenching, absolute punch in the gut.

I never thought of female Touga and transmasc Nanami but I feel like a new entire world was open up to me, and it's an absolutely amazing concept.

I love how in depth you go with this vision of the characters, and his you dwell into real actual problems and experience that trans peps have and how society's cisheteronormative view has an effect on us.

aaa im so happy u enjoyed them ! & i agree !! i also wish there were more discussion and trans exploration of RGU ! i agree so much that RGU's themes would mesh well with trans narratives which is why i enjoy them so much ... my friend said, that he thinks transgender headcanons enhance RGU's themes and help modernise the story as well one of the messages of RGU is that heteropatriarchy hurts everyone. including boys & men. but it was crucial to the impact & message of the story that the main characters and narrative struggles were of girls, because they suffer most under the patriarchy revolutionary girl utena was and IS still revolutionary, but it was still made in the 90s and has some blind spots. since people are becoming more aware of it now why not add explicit transness to the narrative ? [the trans AU i hold the closest to my heart is transfem anthy 🥹] im glad you agree with my character interpretations ! i actually dont feel like im good at characterisation [which is why i personally draw instead of write aaa so often i wish i could write things but they require much more skill] or do i think im that good at dissecting gender to be honest ... so im very happy to read your message and kind words ! pleeease dont be sorry for the ask i loved reading it and if you do end up writing trans RGUs i would love to read that aas well !!!!

Talking about this topic… I remember the first time I ever tried to talk about my fave characters being trans and immediately getting hit with “your fetishizing trans bodies” and it just made me so mad (why are trans bodies a fetish? WHY Karen?) but also it genuinely upset me, like being told that I can’t headcanon my fave as queer feels analogous to being pushed back into the closet. Took me MONTHS to have the confidence to talk about it again. Why can’t it be more normal to have lgbt characters and readers? WHY would the response to that be calling it a fetish… makes me sick thinking about it. Idk why I’m rambling. But I still feel a bit hesitant to write the things I want knowing in the back of my mind that someone might think that way

I know we've talked privately about this but yes I completely agree and you put one of my biggest gripes about the community into words. I've experienced similar situations with my art, I WISH I KEPT THE SCREENCAP OF AN ANON I GOT YEARS AGO, saying I was begging for queer brownie points for drawing my fave character with top surgery scars? HILARIOUS.

Truly, the only time I've witnessed or experienced this "call out" for fetishizing trans people were towards trans creators making content for other trans and queer people to feel included and seen in.

I think a lot of people resort to answering this problem with "you can do what you want forever!" Which is, yeah, true. I CAN write my faves as queer or gnc/non cis. But the community as a whole refuses to support that kind of content wholefully and often will harass people who DO talk about these things. So it's like. I can make content of my fave being trans but I'll have to suffer getting transphobic people in my inbox. People do that to creators of color in this community too and just anyone who has ANY self of identity that can't be seen as ambiguous. ://

oh boy. do you even know what you've done? I am going to talk about this blue creature SO MUCH!!!!! (no but fr thank you for enabling me to talk about one of my fav characters!!!)

I'm just gonna be rambling with no general direction, so i apologize if this gets a smidge confusing..... Everything else will be under a read more since i don't want this post to make it hard to scroll through my blog if it gets too long.

so.. Splat 3 was my first game in the series. I knew about the other splatoon games obviously, and i was eagerly awaiting splatoon 3 since by the time i got a switch it would have been a waste to buy splat 2. So i went into splatoon 3 with very minimal knowledge of the characters/setting.

But when i saw Shiver in the Deep Cut announcement trailer??? It was love at first sight. Blue is my favorite color and the swag Shiver has is off the charts. Plus the hype around a potentially nonbinary character?? And imma be honest, i'm a sucker for smug characters. Especially the ones who are secretly failures. It's just one of my fav tropes.

So in short: Shiver was a character who had a lot of appeal for me in the beginning. But slowly over time as i came to learn more about her and the rest of Deep Cut, i came to appreciate them even more in new ways. Shiver is smug, sarcastic, and can come off as mean or over the top. But she is also silly, quirky, and has a lot of love in her heart for others. She cares about Frye, Bug Man, and all of Splatsville. She says silly things that don't make sense. She likes puns. She takes the time to listen to Sheldon's rambles. She is so much more than what you see on the surface. And it can be so easy to see her teasing her bandmates and assume she is mean or cold hearted. But she genuinely is such a fun character!!!!

Her grace, her gnc swag, her cringefail aura, everything about her makes her an amazing character.

And now, for some headcanons in no particular order:

I kinda see Shivers gender as "whatever is funniest/best in the moment. Commit to the bit of genders. But if i had to pick one thing to headcanon them as it would be pangender or maybe genderfluid. Uses all pronouns plus some shark themed neos like bite/biteself and fin/finself and anything else like that. Im gonna be mostly sticking to she/her and they/them for this post just cuz i think that's what people will be most used to. But really any gender hc for Shiver is correct in my head. MTF? Correct. Nonbinary? Correct. FTM? Correct. Genderfluid? Correct/ Bigender? Correct. Anything and anything goes an i love seeing everyone's takes on it!

I'm gonna go ahead and say trans woman Shiver has a special place in my heart. I just feel like i never see anyone hc this but i also feel like it works?? Idk... The same can be said for genderfluid Shiver. I myself am genderfluid so i rlly like that hc!

Mayhaps has a touch of the tism. (me too) I just feel like she doesn't read social cues well. Can mask really well but doesn't do it around Frye and Big Man for the most part. I think all of Deep Cut is autistic tbh. With Frye having ADHD as well. (ME TOO)

I'm caught between the headcanons of "secretly rlly strong cuz of archery" and "lowkey weak cuz it would be funny to contrast w Frye being strong". But i lean more on the side of both of them being strong. Just Frye having more obvious muscles. But if you look at Shiver she def if strong. And graceful. Like a predator built for ambush or stalking. She moves with purpose. Ya know what i mean? Like she seems very graceful and delicate at first but that is NOT the case.

I gotta be careful or this will turn into general Deep Cut hcs cuz i wanna talk about Big Man and Frye as well lol

Loses her temper easily. Can be petty when things don't go her way.

Master Mega is very special to them. She spent a lot of time with him when she was younger and her parents were busy.

Shiver whistles a lot as a stim/just for fun.

Big Man and Frye are the best hype men ever for Shiver. There are certain points in the game where she says absolute nonsense but those two are right there to back her up. They also don't understand what he's saying, but they are gonna act as if it's the smartest thing ever. Shiver thinks she is the coolest thing ever and those two only enable her. (dw. every once in a while they knock her down a peg by returning her teasing)

Shiver is the type of person to spend 30 minutes making her food look pretty before she serves it. It has to look good or else.

Is a decent cook. Frye likes to steal bits of food from whatever she is working on so Shiver will playfully smack her with her fan and shoo her out of the kitchen.

Is very proud of her singing. She worked very hard to get it as perfect as it is.

Probably used to have a violent streak in middle school, would bite people. Has since learned to control her anger better.

Very confident. Isn't afraid of things like public speaking.

Gets annoyed easily when overstimulated. Sometimes snaps at people when the environment is too noisy/bright or if she is tired. Tries to apologizes afterwards.

Speaking of apologies, she is the type of person to do something nice for you or get you food/a present for you rather tha admit she is wrong. Is embarrassed easily and instead prefers wordless apologies.

Is flustered easily. One of the ways to easily make her lose her cool is to do anything remotely flirty or to bring up something embarrassing she did in the past.

A while ago you posted something about a movie or a game with a trans man and their gnc sibling or something (at least I think it was you?) and how mad TERFs were at the trans man for not being "gnc cis woman rep", and it made me think about all those times I've seen TERFs moan about how people headcanoning or even creating transmasc characters is misogynistic. But then the same TERFs then proceeded to call every trans man some variant of butch in denial or "gnc woman with extra steps" and other shit like that. My good bitch, if you think that trans men are just gnc women then stop having a hissy fit about the alleged misogyny of transmasc characters' existence. Pick one, because it sure as hell can't be both. Also let people have fun. If the only thing you can think about when you see someone being happy about representation in media is "ew gross misogynistic tr*nnies" then you really need a lot of work on yourself ppffff.

i have this incredibly specific headcanon that aira had a phase where he went super hard into being a trans Woman but detransitioned after like a couple months, and is now gnc.

like not too long after he becomes an idol hes struggling a lot with his blossoming sense of adolescent identity and clear insecurity-complex, and of course he's in Ensemble Square which is full of gay people, and he's online a lot too in queer twitter communities and it kinda all accumulates into him thinking, MAYBE I AM A WOMAN? so he tries it.

but he has this very narrow and specific idea of what it means to Be Transgender, and to Be a Transwoman by extension, so he just throws himself in the deep end and goes full social & clothing transition immediately. tatsumi and mayoi are supportive (tatsumi is an Ally and mayoi is genderqueer in some form) and this is probably hiiro's first introduction to it but he doesnt care either and is enthusiastically supportive. pretty much everyone he knows is on board with it (except subaru and hokuto are weird about it probably but who cares about them). the Pretty 5 are overjoyed and help by taking him shopping, Arashi especially.

but while aira has an initial euphoric burst of freedom by doing this he very quickly feels very WRONG. but hes fucking committed to it now and like he knows hes not a dude, right?, and he doesnt want to be NonBinary (which is a single third gender identity and not an umbrella term at all, as everyone knows /s). and like, he does like wearing skirts sometimes, and long socks are cute. and he was already kinda feminine, he is ALKALOID's Cute One. so he's probably just not feeling anything at all and he isn't going to address it.

but arashi can fucking tell something is off and tries talking to him. he deflects and denies everything and at someone else bringing it up he only doubles down.

he is wearing FEMALE MAKEUP now! he is looking at tutorials on youtube on how to apply makeup just-so, so he can look like the Cis-Like and Conforming Trans Woman he is. and he is OWNING IT, he is a Girlboss and is now making Activist Twitter Posts talking about his transfem (because that isn't its own thing, either, it's just a synonym for trans Woman! also /s) experience which he is now suddenly an expert on.

and he is fucking miserable just having trapped himself into another stupid binary and now eichi is accounting for this in StarPro's marketing or whatever and now all of ALKALOID's fans are getting it into their heads about being special trans allies and all these things are happening and and and and.

mika tentatively comes up to him one day. he says that hes too nervous to go to pretty 5 or arashi about it, as irrational as it is considering it's fucking arashi, but he just wants aira's help to like, try on some skirts or something like he sees aira doing. no strings attached it doesnt mean anything, just to try.

aira is trying not to have a meltdown in the store while he waits for mika in the changing room. writing twitter posts with hands sweatier than they are after a live is one thing but having to physically be there and act as this ideal image of THE Trans Woman feels like he's standing there waiting for an axe to swing at his fucking head and that it's going to happen any second now. he gets these chills all down his back like some creepypasta character is about to get him. (he's still scared of the creepypastas).

mika says that he thinks the skirt is cute on him, but that he doesn't think he likes it. he says he doesn't know. he says that he doesn't like how it impedes on his masculinity.

"isn't that the point, though? you wanted to be a girl?" aira asks, hair actually wet with how much he's sweating.

"no... nyaghhhg, i don't wanna be a girl. i didn't think just putting it on would make me one, but if it does then i don't wanna wear it anymore."

aira thinks that is a weird fucking thing to say because of course if you're trying on skirts and trying to be feminine it means you're trying to be a transgirl, and he also thinks that if he has to hear mika talk for a second longer he's going to explode from fucking anger. he doesn't think to question why he's so angry, but he says something snappy at mika and it makes mika give up so it all works out and he can go home.

hiiro can tell aira isn't doing well but hiiro can go fuck himself for all aira cares. aira can't even practice anymore, he's just getting angrier and angrier with each day.

eventually he tears off all his clothes in a rage and throws out all his makeup, even the ones he'd been using before his transition. rei comes into their dorm and is alarmed to find aira burning a pile of clothes in the middle of the room. he's attempted to protect the carpet by putting it on top of cardboard. rei has to use the fire extinguisher.

after aira's calmed down a bit rei laughs out of nowhere. aira asks him what. rei says that he thinks aira is the first amab trans guy he's met. aira says he's had enough of all these fucking labels. rei asks if he wants him to inform eichi for him, in regards to the marketing. aira says yeah, thank you...

with touch of feather, aira grows more comfortable in his own skin.

sometime later, mika nervously announces to the pretty 5 that he's genderqueer. arashi helps him come out, and the rest express their support. tori says welcome to the club. (aira wonders how he didn't already know this about tori.)

"in what way?" aira asks mika after congratulating him.

"errr..." mika looks confused for a moment before realisation dawns on his face. "oh. nah, just genderqueer. i don't like all those expectations 'n all that. i just wanna do whatever feels right. that's what humans are, ain't it? just a lotta nonsense feelings."

"oh," says aira.

in retrospect, aira supposes that arashi isn't completely gender conforming and hyper-feminine either. and later, after he and hiiro get together (finally), he asks hiiro if he was still interested in him while he was trans. hiiro says yeah, he doesn't see why that would affect it, and really he was worried about him more than anything else. before aira can make some inquiry about his hometown, hiiro continues that he's been talking a lot to the other idols, so he knows a bit about the city's queer labels (and the variance & nuance in identity) now, and that he's bisexual --- well, he doesn't really like calling himself the labels very much, but that it's the best way to communicate it. aira says huh. he wasn't really expecting to hear that from him.

i think after all that aira would be comfortable just being gnc occasionally, and not worry too hard about being a Boy or a Girl.

I wanted to get your opinion on this because I need to know if I'm just being silly or not:

I'm seeing a new slew of Pyro As A Girl art and I'm getting weird flashbacks to when this fandom was way younger and would fantasize about Pyro being a hot lady under the suit. I feel like it's been this thing of "Oh don't worry we've made her what I think the stereotype of butch is and shipped her with Miss Pauling!" but it really still feels like Pyro is getting the same treatment once again of "There's super hot tits under there for me to drool over" and idk idk. that's how I've been feeling and I can't tell if I'm just being silly or not. especially cause contextually it's always been that "Pyro is under there!"

like I love Pyro and I find Pyro sexy but not cause I need to imagine it's a hot woman underneath and I feel that this is that again but oh make her butch so it's fine she's still got a huge rack either way

Hmm something else I'm of multiple minds about! Let me try to break down my response:

I think an influx of trans/gnc positive art is a net good. I don't think the depiction of butch and/or trans suitless Pyro with visible breasts is at all comparable to the "fempyro" fantasies of cishet men. Context is important and a lot of people find depictions like this empowering

I agree that the idea that Pyro must be visibly More Feminine (or God forbid "female") in some way in order to be acceptable for Pauling to date is regressive. Using visible breasts as a shorthand for "butch" or "trans", especially when it's assumed that only transmasculine people/all transmasculine people look like that, is exhausting. Pyro does not need to look like what this website defines as "female" or God forbid "afab" or "women and femmes" or whatever in order to be an acceptable nonbinary person for a lesbian to date. Pyro could have a body like Scout or a body like Medic or a body like Heavy and they would still be able to be both nonbinary and sapphic

To be quite honest I think you're overthinking it. This is giving a lot of "secondhand dysphoria" energy which I'm not at all fond of, people get different stuff out of different headcanons and you just gotta make your peace with that! This kind of thinking can lead you down a path of regularly lashing out at trans people who draw trans characters you don't personally relate to and that's just not something I can promote. YOUR association of visible breasts with Pyro being "a hot woman" is YOUR problem. YOU are sexualizing that kind of body and acting like it makes them unable to be nonbinary or whatever. I'm trying to not sound harsh but you're making some pretty strong claims here that I'm not comfortable fully endorsing. There's SOMETHING here but ultimately it's dressed up in too much presumption and maybe even pseudo-misogyny for me to interpret in good faith lol. Good try but like, C minus.

When you take whatever the fuck is going on with Ahospice seriously it serves to create a very interesting dynamic at least in our eyes... as an insane person...

We're pretty sure in any reading of Ahospice's gender that isn't Cis Woman (and we have yet to meet someone who headcanons that) this applies because minus that interpretation, Ahospice would be very explicitly trans and/or gnc which is nothingsauce overall but considering how he's antimedicalist and specifically aligned with the whole Karen/Anti-Vax Mom archetype that's like. Insane to us and we know nobody else gives a shit but this is our blog and we give so many shits

It doesn't take a genius to configure that antimedicalists tend to be conservative aligned and that reads in Ahospice's character. And the specific type of antimedicalist that Ahospice is parodying tends to overlap quite significantly with TERFs.

Nobody that Ahospice aligns himself with would want to talk to him, much less want to be represented by him. So the way that Ahospice would interact with the world would be heavily affected by the fact that he ultimately belongs nowhere, ESPECIALLY not with the people he's parodying. Combined with just the way Ahospica looks, Ahospice as a person and not as an ideology comes off as inevitably isolated.

Also the fact that Ahospice handles a Molotov to destroy a pharmacy ⁉ like undeniably Ahospice is a lot more than just an anti-vax Karen stereotype (not like the expansion was intentional, lmfao) because while that is his foundation that fact that his gender identity is incredibly unique among the cast in regards to how it would affect him and the fact that he's destructive to a similar level as how anarchists are portrayed gives him that extra spice that makes him so much more fun as a character... and whenever we fuck with certain aus particularly ones that involve the cast in the real world more, Ahospice always ends up being a character whose relationship with himself and the world around him is so damn hard to portray because he's fucking weird and makes literally no sense and we LOVE HIM FOR THAT

These are all things that most people are aware of but don't really like think about or care about because Ahospice is a joke character first and has feminine ass hips second and it kind of stops there. and like we dont blame em LOL we're just fucking ill and anyways maybe we should write like. fanfics or something. and explore Ahospice more outside of the baseline because the way his character comes together gives him so much potential even within mundane ass scenarios. but it comes down to like. how much can we write about Ahospice before we get sent back to the institution

i think one of the reasons transfem dash was always such a comforting headcanon to me even when i was cis is the idea of a gender nonconforming character proudly choosing womanhood takes away from the concept of a feminine woman as a Good and Morally Right thing. like women don't have to be good at being feminine to be women and men don't have to be good at being masculine to be men. like. i may not really be a woman anymore (or at least mostly not?) but i have so much love and respect for gnc women and butch women in a world that insists every woman must have these secret Feminine Instincts and feel deep shame about their inability to be feminine if they're not. obviously this isn't meant to be like a vague at people who headcanon her as trans a different way or anything i just have a soft spot in my heart‏‏‎ ‎for‏‏‎ ‎tomboy‏‏‎ ‎trans‏‏‎ ‎girl‏‏‎ ‎dash
