I finished hazbin hotel last night, and while it was mostly not very good, the finale was decent.

This has nothing to do with tdau, but what’s your opinion on the hazbin/helluva boss franchise? (If you have one)

keep in mind i never finished hazbin: i think the majority of it is cheap shock humour like south park except its not even trying to say anything, its just trying to be edgy for the sake of being edgy. one of my friends really likes it and even he admits it sucks at points. we both like sir pentious but ive heard hes literally a caricature of one of vivs ex friends she hates and wanted to make fun off. i hate how the only lesbian is vaggie. i liked vox, and think his musical number with alastor was the only good one, although i only watched the first two episodes. my friend who likes hazbin also thinks all the musical numbers suck, however, so ive got it on good authority from a smart man who i trust the opinion of (love you bestie if you want me to continue watching for you i will xx)

helluva boss, even though i only watched season 1 (maybe an episode or two from season 2), was a lot better than hazbin. it was funnier (i really love brandon rogers' work. when i heard him do the bryce voice for katie killjoy i was excited bc i thought his involvement meant hazbin was gonna be a lot better than the pilot. it was not) the animation was SLIGHTLY less overdone (from what ive seen thats not even true anymore) even though i didnt really care for most of the characters i did like a couple (blitzo is your classic brandon rogers "asshole with problems you sympathise with before they remind you theyre an asshole". fizzarolli and asmodeus were VERY cute and alex brightman is a talented VA)

i think the fact she got kesha, a SINGER, to voice a character, but ONLY THE SPEAKING VOICE, is literally the dumbest thing ive ever heard in my life. it makes me so goddamn angry. if you couldnt afford her to sing, get someone else. dont get a SINGER to voice a character who SINGS but NOT VOICE THEM SINGING. Nights like this didn't happen often, you laid awake staring at the ceiling listening to his whimpers. He refused help from you, often grunting and walking away when you would ask. There was a cold chill in the air but you could barely feel it, your heart beating loudly as he started to fidget. “Daryl-” you spoke softly into the dark room. As usual there was no response, his feet began moving instead, twitching against the sheet that trapped him down in his sleep. His whimpers became clearer, begging for it to stop. The pain he shrugged off from being kidnapped by Negan, from being stripped away from you. His hands clenched and unclenched from beside you grasping the sheets with force. He was fighting something, you slowly sat up, hoping to help him release the iron grip he had on the linen that surrounded him. Your hands ghosted his cheek, feeling the sweat that was dripping from his brow line. You held onto his bicep, gripping it firmly as you shook him gently. His whimpers got louder the more you touched him, you were scared, unsure if waking him was a good idea. You didn't have the chance to think about what to do, his eyes snapped open, his hands fighting their way to pin you down. Your eyes widened with fear as you watched his well built frame tower over you, his hands on your throat as he growled at you. “Leave me alone,” he said. You tapped his arms desperately but he kept squeezing. 

“Daryl-” you squeaked, you could feel your body start to tingle, you conscious slowly slipping. You scratched at his arms, cried, the tears dripping down your face onto the pillow behind you. “Daryl…I cant breath…please” you cried more desperately. You watched as he blinked, his hands loosening from you as he scanned your face. The terrified look imprinted into his memories, adding to the collection of trauma Negan had given him. Becoming the monster he most often felt like. He stood, scrambling away from you as you gasped for air, the harsh breaths hurt less than watching him cower away from you. “Daryl… im okay please don't go” 

The man shook his head, muttering to himself. Slipping into the disguised clothing that was spread around the room, his feet moving quickly to leave. His stomps were heard throughout the house. You stood up, attempted to put on a pair of leggings, your hands shaking making it difficult to pull them up, as you dashed towards the stairs, your cries heard throughout the house. 

“y/n?” carol called out, you spun, looking at the woman who sleepily exited her room towards you, her feet shuffling along the carpet. “Carol he- he left, he was having a nightmare and got me. Get him back please, it's not his fault.” 

Carol looked at your face, the redness around your neck imprinting his fingers there. She nodded, running back to her room more awake. “Are you okay?” she said, sitting next to you as she put on her boots. You shook your head, your hands ghosting the mark left on your neck. “Just find him please…he can't be on his own” 

“ What about you?” “I’ll wake up rosita..stay in her room for the night” 

Carol nodded, hugging you briefly before she searched for her broken friend. You heard her shut the door, the lock echoing through the house. You whimpered, waiting on the steps for their return, your silent cries turning into sobs as you thought about the unspoken pain he went through. Remembering how broken and weak he was when he grasped at you, holding you like he would be ripped away again. 

The first night was the worst, hearing his heart beating loudly as he laid still, the two of you awake listening to the others breathing that filled the room softly. “Hey love, come here” rostia spoke, her hands grasping your shoulders bringing you out of your trance. You looked at her lost and broken, tear streams on your cheeks matching the redness around your neck. “He-he’s” 

“I know, come lay with me please” she said, her soft hands bringing you to her room. You gingerly sat on the bed unable to sleep. She sat next to you, still holding your hand gently. You turned to look at her, she waited for you to come to your senses before you finally pulled her into a hug. She grasped you tightly, stroking her hands through your hair as you sobbed. Finally realising that what negan did wasn't just hard on him, but also on you. As you tried to hold yourself together for him, regretting the look of fear you had as you stared up at him. You heard the front door click again, both of you stayed still as you tried to listen to the muted mumbling from the stairwell.

 “Daryl, she's fine, I told you this” Carol said. Daryl grunted stomping his way upstairs, you knew he was angry and ashamed of himself. For a split second seeing himself like his father. He sat on the bed, the covers that kept you both warm spewed all over the bed and floor. He stared at the ground, “where is she?” he asked, his voice soft and cracked. “Rostias room” Carol responded from the doorway. Daryl nodded, “is-is it bad?” he spoke. 

“Don't do this-” 

“Is it?” 

Carol sighed, she looked at her broken friend. One that has been through so much trying to protect the ones he loves. His self deprecating manner beating himself up at every mistake he apparently made. “Daryl” you croaked from behind Carol, startling the woman. You softly apologised before squeezing past her. Giving her a hug and thank you as you ushered her out of the room. The door clicked shut behind you, trapping you and your beloved in the room filled only by the moonlight that shone through the open window. He watched as your shadow enlarged on the floor as you approached, sitting next to him. The two of you sat next to each other listening to the breathing of the other. Your thighs, touching. You waited for him to talk, your fingers fidgeting in your lap. “I-I’m sorry” he muttered so quietly you were surprised you even heard it. You turned towards him, lifting one leg onto the bed as you faced him. His head slowly lifted to look at you, the ‘damage’ he had done to you. He whimpered at the sight of it. “i - didn't mean to” 

“I know, i should have woken you up better” 

“It's not your fault, I shouldn't have reacted like that.” 

“You're wrong. He did this. He hurt you so much he left you like this”

“Broken.” 

“ but repairable if you let me in, don't shut me out more, not after this please love” you said. Coaxing him towards your body. Daryl didn’t respond. His head falling on your shoulder, following you as you guided him as you laid back. Your fingers tangle in his hair, holding his head in place. You could feel his tears on your shoulder. “He hurt you, he hurt all of us. He did this.” you whispered. You felt him softly nod on your shoulder as you comforted him. Your arms becoming his blanket, the shame washing away as you hold him. “No one should treat people like that, I don’t know who he thinks he's messing with, but I do. He’s messing with my partner. The one that comes back no matter what. My protector” 

“But I hurt you. I did, by my hands” 

“It’s okay, I'm okay. You can help me heal and i'll help you” 

Both of you held each other tightly, fear that you would slip away again if you didn’t. Neither 

slept like the first night he was home. Content with listening to the breathing of the other as the soft glow of the sun peeked through the window. Replacing the darkness that surrounded you both.

hello sorry im still thinking and it’s nearing midnight which means Emotion TM and Rot TM o’clock

this is about ahsoka because I’m incapable of having any other thoughts about anything

also im sorry this is. so long. my Rot never sleeps nor does it care about the word count

Thinking about the “Shin, release her.” “Shin.” But also their relationship in general

Now, we don’t know how long Shin has been with Baylan. I’m not aware of any sort of timeline for how long someone stays as a ‘padawan’ (though, yes, baylan and shin aren’t jedi and aren’t following it the typical way), but shin could be with him for 5+ years at this point. Or maybe just 2 or less, we don’t know.

But what I find so interesting is the trust that’s there. Back in the first episode, Morgan sends Shin to Lothal on her command. Shin is like… master what. And baylan reassures her and tells her to go to Lothal and that she is “looking for Sabine Wren.” Shin gets excited when she hears that, and episode 4 gives a little more context into that.

Baylan knows Ahsoka. He mentions in episode 4 that Anakin spoke of her. And I’m sure Baylan, after getting close with Shin, has probably shared stories of his time in the Order, Jedi he knew/met, his own master, among other things. Now, also in episode 4, Baylan knows of Sabine. How her family was killed, etc. How he does I have no idea. But, again, something he could’ve told Shin as it relates to Thrawn bc of Ezra and all that good stuff.

But to go back, Shin gets excited when Baylan does confirm and tell her to go. Also, kind of knowing Shin’s character, could’ve been a sort of ‘thrill of the hunt’ going out and looking for her. Either way, Baylan trusts Shin to send her out on her own.

Next is when Morgan does the whole star map shenanigans and Morgan talks about where Thrawn is banished and what the goal is. After Morgan leaves, Shin asks him questions about it. “What happens when we find Thrawn?” Baylan mentions war in response. Then, which is still a line that has me short circuiting bc im insane, Shin asks “what about us?” SOMETHING ABOUT THE US AND STICKING TOGETHER AND IDK FOUND FAMILY THINGS 🤠 and Baylan responds with “Power. Such as you’ve never dreamed.” It still follows along the trust lines. Shin follows him, obviously, as he’s the master and so she feels the need to ask him like, “hey, this has been going on for a little while, what’s our future goal?”

Then, in episode 4, there’s that scene (forgive me mis-quoting) where the four of them are on Seatos and Morgan mentions something about stalling (??) and Baylan says that “but you will” line to Shin and, without needing to say anymore, gives her the go ahead to go into the forest and track down Ahsoka and Sabine with Marrok. He has a trust and faith in her that she’ll do what is needed while he stays with Morgan

THEN, of course ahsoka ‘kills’ Marrok and runs to Baylan, Shin eventually comes back after running from Sabine. Shin makes it to Baylan and Ahsoka and immediately Ahsoka thinks Sabine is dead. Right after Huyang asked them to stay together and they’re getting back into their master and padawan rhythm and Sabine was left with the girl who stabbed her through like less than a week prior. So Ahsoka goes after Shin while Baylan isn’t immediately in front of her and force throws her into the one pillar and knocks her out cold. Baylan gets pissed and uses very powerful swings to push Ahsoka to the edge when she was already weak from picking up the map.

When Baylan has Ahsoka over the cliff, he says “it didn’t have to come to this” which had me THINKING. He has that line in episode 2 (??) about “It’ll be a shame (to kill Ahsoka). There are so few jedi left.” Baylan also still holds a lot of respect for the Jedi, and I think that especially shows through in the fact that Shin has a padawan braid. Baylan then continues with (forgive my misquote again I think) “but you know no other way”. Like. I cannot believe he would’ve pushed her to the edge of the cliff and eventually set her off if she didn’t throw Shin. I think that was Baylan, over anythin, fighting for his padawan and seizing the opportunity he had over Ahsoka to go through with something that he didn’t originally plan to do. But that’s my personal opinion and view rn. That could change.

And then, of course, Shin wakes up after Baylan and Sabine have their little chit chat and she starts to force choke Sabine. Baylan, immediately, is like ‘no no stop I told her I wouldn’t harm her and gave her my word, what are you doing, child’. He says, not in a super commanding or harsh tone, “Shin, release her.”

Now. How many people has Shin force choked in front of Baylan when Baylan didn’t want her to? My bet is zero, probably. Maybe one, idk.

Now we know I love analyzing, especially overanalyzing which is evident by my TLOU ones. But Baylan doesn’t freak out when he notices what Shin is doing. He’s not upset, either, because he knows her. But the very simple ask of “release her” really gets me. It tells me that they’ve built up such a trust and respect there that something small like that is enough to get her to stop and/or stand down. There’s enough there for Baylan to say it and for Shin to know it and drop it. There’s enough there that that’s all Baylan should need to say for her to stop.

Also- rabbit trail- but Shin’s immediate reaction to waking up and seeing Baylan stand, actually somewhat comfortably, across from Sabine probably sent raging signals through Shin because that’s the enemy, so she immediately goes to go after Sabine. Again, personal take, I think it’s on behalf of Baylan and protecting him and not just Shin’s personal vendetta (pretty much, at this point) against Sabine. But maybe that’s my brainrot talking. Idk protecting the other is so 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 but I also think it can fit in this context

But she doesn’t. Not at the first one. Understandable, honestly. The run-ins she’s had with Ahsoka and Sabine haven’t been the kindest and also she’s right across from Baylan and he’s not trying to kill her. So she keeps force choking her and disregards Baylan’s first ask.

But, again, going back to there being enough there. ALL it then takes it is for Baylan to go “Shin.” for her to look at him and stop. Baylan isn’t demanding anything. He’s not loud or aggressive or anything. His tone is very reminiscent of saying “trust me” without the words. And so Shin drops Sabine. Reluctantly, considering the look she gives him, but she trusts him enough to know that it’s fine and that he’s already worked it out.

FIRST in the scene where they disguise themselves to hide from the lawyer Mike dresses as an old man and Davy dresses as an old woman = old married couple. hmm lovely sweet old married couple.

     Groaning as you woke up was not a rarity, however, groaning as you woke up with the biggest hangover ever, naked, and on the floor was a rarity. Carefully sitting up you peek over the pool table and see someone shirtless asleep. Please be Ben. Please be Ben. Please be Ben. Hearing the person groan and sigh awake, you see Ben, “God, my head--” Ben starts. “Not so loud,” you reply from the floor. “Y/n? y/n, where are you?” Ben asks looking around. “Down here,” you say curling back into a ball and shielding your face from the Kugelblitz’s light. Sitting up on the pool table Ben looks down at you uncurl yourself and moves to sit in front of where he is. “Do you--,” Ben starts to ask before you interrupt him, “Not at all.” hearing tired footsteps coming closer you begin to look for your discarded dress. “Well, good morning my dear-- Oh my god!” Klaus says before turning around as fast as his hangover state could. “Christ on a cracker! A pool table? Really guys?” He continues to turn around with his hands over his eyes like a kid. Ben quickly finds his shirt and throws it to you so that you have something to cover up with. With his back turned you can see ‘ASSHOLE’ written in what seemed to be permanent marker, giggling,  you continue looking for your missing dress.

     After unsuccessfully trying to find both your clothes and the rest of Ben’s, the pair of you scurry to your room to change. Picking out your clothes for the day and taking a quick shower, you walk down to the foyer area where Ben said he would be. Sitting next to Ben, he pulls you in closer, arms wrapped around you with your legs crossed and on top of his. “How’d you sleep? Was the pool table as comfortable as it looks?” you joke with Ben. “How was the floor?” Ben says while playfully rolling his eyes before pulling you in closer. Light chatter fills the room and is abruptly interrupted by Five and Reginald walking through the door. All of the Umbrella’s start cheering over the speech Five made last night. “I especially liked when you referred to us as a family bound by destiny and love, “ Viktor says making you smile. I wish we loved each other as much as they do. “Okay, enough. It was the booze talking. In the light of day, you're still deplorable.” “And your day’s about to get worse,” Reginald forebodingly states. Buddy every time I see you my day gets worse. 

     “The Norse had seven sleepers. The Blackfoot, seven stars. As a boy, I heard the legend of the seven bells. All these stories are the same. The village is under threat by flood, by fire, by a night that never ends. A shaman brings his disciples to a sacred cave. He tells them if they can ring the seven magic bells, the village will be saved, and all will be restored just as was,” Reginald says confusing the group. “Reggie?” Lila says raising her hand. “Can we get a little less ‘Brothers Grimm’ and a little more ‘what the hell does this have to do with us?’” she continues, laying on Diego. “There is a truth to these myths. None of you can deny what’s going on around us. All of existence will be gone by the end of the day, but whoever or whatever wove together space and time, they left a way to put space and time together if the universe ever faced total annihilation,” Reggie continues to explain concerning you. Turning to directly face him, Klaus’ arm and head resting on your head, you listen more intently holding Ben’s hand. “There is a portal in the universe. I built this hotel around it, and on the other side is the answer.” Looking at Ben you give him a ‘is he for real?’ look to which he replies with a ‘why wouldn't he be’. “And… we’re supposed to, what? Just stroll in there and ring some bells, and fix this shit?” Luther pipes up. “Sarcasm aside you are mostly right. Except for the guardian.” 

     “What kind of guardian?” you and Viktor question at the same time. “The kind of guardian that does this,” Diego says showing his hand with missing fingers. “He had a sword.” “It is a force to be reckoned with,” Reginald says testing your patience with the old man. “See? Yeah. this is where you lose me.” “This is where he loses you? I checked out at the sacred cave,” Lila says making you nod your head in agreement. “Why would the builders of this ‘back door’ need to have a guardian?” Viktor asks. “Ah! To protect it from people who want to use it for nefarious means,” Sloane excitedly says, Reginald confirming that she’s correct. “So I guess it’s gonna take all of us to defeat the thing protecting the bells,” Allison says looking around the room.”You’re actually buying his crap?” Five asks already checked out. “How is a guardian and bells any crazier than time-traveling briefcases and assassins with cartoon masks?” Okay, I think we skipped a few chapters here, huh? Letting go of your hand Ben stands next to Reggie and says that he’s in. It couldn't hurt to try and save the world-- I mean universe. “Me too,” you say spurring Diego to join in. “But I think some of us should stay back, like Lila.” “Uh..or you can stay, and I can go,” Lila says popping up from where Diego dropped her on the sofa. “No. this is much bigger than all of us. Nobody can stay back,” Allison tells the group. How does she know? Reginald then goes on another tirade about how we are the only thing standing between oblivion.

     “I say we vote on it,” Viktor says. “This isn't a democracy,” Ben says before you add “More of an anarchy but less cool sounding.” Another disagreement breaks out before Luther says to meet back in an hour with a decision. Following Ben after Reginald, you pull his arm back making him slow so that you can catch up. “Are you serious about this?” you ask wanting to make sure he isn't just doing as dear old Daddy says. “Yes, y/n why wouldn't I be? I want our family back as much as you do a-a-and doing this might make everything go back to normal,” Ben says emotion in his voice. “I just wanna have our family back, so please tell me you're in,” he finishes. “Of course, I’m in. I want our family back…and plus I get to kick someone’s ass that isn't related to us,” you say, smiling at the last statement. “When this is over, we should go on a vacation.” “Where to?” you ask smiling as he holds your hands and spins you around to where you are back to chest with him. “Somewhere romantic,” Ben says leaning into your ear. 

     An hour later you’re standing with your father-in-law from hell and your husband, as the voting starts. “We’ve all lost people, but their deaths have to mean something. Which is why I’ll be voting to go with Dad,” she concludes. “So it’s five in and four out now,” Viktor comments. “Y/n and I count as one,” Ben says making you shrug and roll your eyes. Now it was Five’s turn, Five votes to stay, and it's time to accept our fate. “You’re all pathetic,” Allison says walking away. “Why can't we go in there with the five of us?” you ask Reggie. “That would mean certain failure. There must be seven or more.” Reginald then goes on to another speech about how he failed the Umbrella’s and how by proxy ended the world. Ben rushes to be with Reggie leaving you to be alone with the Umbrella’s yet again. Sitting on the stairs next to Viktor, you lay down head resting on a step. “So now what?” Sloane asks Five to which he responds “Wait for the end.”

     Getting up from your stairs, you go to your room to wallow at the thought of not being able to save your siblings. Being startled by Sloane screaming you jump up and run to where you heard her voice. Walking in you see Luther on the floor covered in blood, with a giant slash on his chest, and Sloane holding him. “Oh my god.” Viktor and Five soon rush in, Five asking what happened. “He went to go get ice. I couldn’t-- he didn't come back,” Sloane tearfully explains. Kneeling down you hug around her shoulders, her head coming to rest on your chest. “It must’ve been him. The guardian,” Lila says. Moving your arms you now cradle Sloane’s head, brushing some of her hair away from her face as she looks at Luther’s wounds. Reginald arrives after everyone, acting shocked at the scene. He did something I fucking know it. Why else would he pretend to be shocked? Looking up at Ben he says that if we attacked first he would’ve still been alive. Standing up from the ground you and your family are knocked back. “Okay, we’re out of time the Kugelblitz is here,” Five says glancing out the door. Reginald leads the way into Oblivion, Ben right behind him while the rest of the group files in. “We can’t leave him,” Sloane tearfully says to you. “I know hon but we have to okay? We need to go,” you as gently as possible explain. Allison joins with “We have to go now or we’ll die.” You and Allison pry Sloane away from Luther and run with her, just after she gave him one final kiss. 

     Walking through the tunnel you end up in the same suite, just… backward. Walking over to Ben you embrace each other, holding each other close. Reginald slams the Oblivion door shut and is the last one out. Viktor asks where Klaus is and Reginald informs the group that Klaus has been Kugelbitzed and is its last victim. “No, he was right behind me when I entered the tunnel,” Five says through gritted teeth. “We need to go back,” Sloane says tears still streaming down her face. Reggie says that it's no time for tears and that we should get moving before quickly walking out of the room. After a moment of silence, the group walks out and joins Reggie in the elevator. Walking out you are greeted with the same hotel you just left. Ben and Diego start going back and forth, ignoring them you look around, heading to the revolving doors. Walking through you are turned back around into the hotel, this time however through the other door. “What the fuck?” you say confused, looking back at the door. Heading back to your family you hear them talking about Luther and Klaus. “Don't even try it Five, the doors won't let you out,” Diego tells Five. “Well, that would've been nice to know a minute ago,” you sarcastically respond. “So, what, we’re stuck here?” Allison asks. “This place is a test and a trap and a means of salvation, all at once,” Reginald answers but does not answer. 

     “We get it, Diego. Bell bad. What do we do? Does anybody know?” Five asks. No one answers Five’s question; Lila leaves to go eat sushi causing Ben to make another asshole comment, “how can you possibly eat at a time like this?” “I don’t know. How can you be a dick at a time like this?” she replies back with the same snarky asshole tone. “Hey! Back off, all right?” Diego says intervening in their argument. “She’s eating for--” “Strength. In these trying times,” Lila interrupts Diego and then pulls him along with her. “Did it sound like he was gonna say she’s eating for two?” you whisper into Ben’s ear. “I think so. That’s probably why he told her to stay back,” Ben replies whispering in your ear before biting your lobe playfully. After Lila and Diego left the group dispersed, waiting for Reginald to tell them what they were here for. Sitting on the stairs with Allison and Sloane, helping clean her husband’s blood off of her hands. “I hate to say the things everyone says,” Sloane says through tears. “Mourning in cliche is the last thing you need to worry about,” Allison replies. “I know everything is ending but I thought we’d be together when it happened. I didn't even get to say goodbye,” she continues through sniffles. “I got to say goodbye to my daughter and my husband but it wasn't enough. Feelings are just… they’re too big for words,” Allison says while holding Sloane’s hand. Letting go of Sloane’s other hand and standing with your cloth you tell them you're going to get some water so that you can continue cleaning her hands. As you’re leaving you heard Allison say “prick. They don’t know what it's like, to lose someone that important.” Looking back you roll your eyes and scoff.

     Gathering in the foyer, Reginald informs the group of the gameplan. Reggie says that you must find a sigil but he doesn't know what to do when you find it. Great going into certain death blindly. Thank you, dear father-in-law. “Excuse me? We’re here because you said you have a plan,” Viktor says incredulously. “I do, up to a point.” “Great. So we’ll just stay in the hotel forever, staring at the walls and eating bad sushi,” Lila not-so jokes. Allison comes to Reginald’s defense stating that finding the sigil is the best chance there is at resetting the universe. “Where do we start?” Viktor asks already tired of Five and Allison. “We’ll split into groups. I will go with Allison, Sloane, and y/n. Ben and Five with Viktor,” Reginald says making you increasingly annoyed. “No we want Allison.” “Ben for Allison. We’ve trained together, so it makes more sense if we take Allison,” Viktor and Five say making Allison say “yeah, no thanks.” Viktor questions why not and she goes quiet and looks at Reginald. “Splendid idea. Allison, you go with the Umbrellas. Sparrows, stick together,” Reginald says making you breathe a sigh of relief. Reginald says that everyone should take a different floor and just like that you are on your mission. Just as you three were in the elevator Reggie says that he forgot his journal, stating that he’ll meet up with you on five.

     Wandering around the hotel looking for the sigil, you and Sloane are doing all the work. Ben’s leaning against a wall being his normal pouty self. “Oh, don’t forget to check under the plants,” Ben annoyingly says making you frustratedly sigh. “Get off your ass and start inspecting the walls for hidden compartments,” you say helping Sloane feel the wall behind a painting. “What the hell is wrong with you? People are dying left and right, and you’re acting like a sulky teenager,” Sloane says opening a door and looking in. “You should just like Dad,” Ben says while walking toward the door Sloane had just checked. “Why is it so important for Dad to like you? He doesn't you or us,” Sloane says, closing the room she was just looking in. “We made our own mark in this world without him,” she continues. “As the Sparrow Academy, but they’re gone now,” Ben counters. “He was never a Sparrow. He was our dad, and a shitty one at that. You don’t need him. He didn't even come to your wedding,” Sloane says at her breaking point with Ben. Ben sighs frustratedly, opening his mouth to say something he’s stopped by Five. “I can’t believe I’m saying this. I’m actually glad to see you guys,” Five says appearing from around the corner. “What’s wrong?” Sloane asks about to cry. “The hotel is changing. I’ve been walking around in circles, but it’s like the thing is alive,” Five explains. “We should get back to the lobby,” you say while closing the room you were peeking into. “Tried it. What ever direction I choose, I end up in the same spot.” “Or maybe you have no sense of direction,” Ben comments making you smack his arm. “Okay, lead the way, Magellan.”

    Following Ben who clearly doesn't know what to do and where to go, the hotel starts to shake and creek. The lights then turn into a brighter golden color as the hotel continues to shake. ”Which one of the idiots do you think rang the bell?” you ask, leaning on the wall for support. After the shaking subsides the four of you continue walking around, trying to find the way back. Holding Ben’s hand as you walk down the hall, you get to another fucking hallway. Coming out of a room is a samurai snarling at the four of you. This must be the guardian. Of course, we get stuck fighting the fucking guardian. “Really? A samurai?” Ben says at the growling guardian. Sloane then charges at the guardian; yelling as she flips over the samurai and starts to use her powers to crush it. “Revenge looks good on her,” you say smirking along with Ben. “Would you shut up and help us kill this thing?” Five tells you as he heads to pick up an ax and go into battle.

They're blind if they don't see that about Sokka! Like. The other three kids would blatantly waste DAYS at a time, despite their very tight time limit, on whatever random bullshit captures their fancy. They literally planned vacations and even he got caught up in it but like......it's absolutely herding cats. You even see this problem in miniature, with Toph having to constantly hound Aang into earthhbending training. They're all flighty n distractible ish and avoidant in their own ways but Aang is very much the worst and yet also the most prioritised member who overrules Sokka regularly "for fun".

yeah I mean i was just so confused by that response bc it was such a bad faith misreading of what I had actually said, and also just a blatantly incorrect reading of the text??? I think a large swath of this fandom has a very surface level interpretation of the show (which is understandable, most people are not as invested in understanding the nuances of this show while still enjoying it, thats perfectly fine) while also just cherry picking the parts they like/latch onto and distorting the parts they found less compelling to suit whatever narrative they’ve crafted for themselves. which I suppose is their prerogative as audience members, but it’s frustrating to me as someone who thinks analytic work should always stem from understanding the text as holistically and completely as possible. normally I try to ignore such misinterpretations, since if I didn’t I would literally get no sleep, and yknow, I have a life. but i could see people’s tags in my activity feed turning this argument into a moral issue in which my very character was attacked (someone literally said “comradekatara and their followers are bs” which makes it sound like im running a cult or smth. yikes) and so I felt the need to clarify and defend myself in a way that I usually don’t when angry zutarapilled weirdos go on and on about how evil I am lmfao

anyway, to your point, sokka is absolutely herding cats. he is constantly trying to get them to be as economical with their time and stay as safe as possible, and they just straight up refuse to listen to him. I see people make arguments that sokka “wasted time on kyoshi island” by training with suki, but a) I don’t think receiving formal training for like the first time in his life is a waste of time and b) aang was clearly the one who insisted on staying there, sokka would’ve left whenever, but aang really liked it there, and considering this was right after he discovered that his entire people had been wiped out, it’s not exactly like sokka and katara can be like “no more fun for you!” the only other instances i can think of of sokka wasting their time is in “the ember island players” when he makes them all go spend two hours watching a play that they absolutely loathe. in fairness, I think sokka and suki should’ve realized that their friends (besides toph) would not enjoy such an event, but the episode would be way less effective if it had been just them watching it, so for metatextual reasons I’ll let it slide. (and fwiw, sokka’s training with piandao took two, three days at most, so it clearly wasn’t smth that interfered with the schedule.)

so yeah, my original point about sokka herding cats seems pretty obvious to me considering how many detours aang and katara constantly insist on taking (and arguably toph too, but she’s generally less resistant to sokka’s ideas). but then that person had to go and act like I said something I didn’t, and then add on a bunch of incorrect analysis to boot. truly, genuinely, weird behavior. the “momtara who does all the work and singlehandedly raised these children including sokka and has never once had fun in her life because she is struggling under the weight of being the most mature & reasonable fourteen year old girl who ever lived (and also that’s why this one spoiled prince who can’t even hammer a single nail would be such a good boyfriend for her because he loves doing dishes and is so emotionally intelligent & articulate)” koolaid is strong I guess.

House MD for the top 5 things. Choose wisely

oooo thank you so much. finally i can bitch about this

top 5 things i would change in: house md

1. season 6 finale for the love of god. someone has to. im not a huddy hater but i absolutely despise the way they ended up getting together. and it's such a good episode up to that point! delicious whump! emotional torture! this is for sure one of the best premises for an episode this series has ever had. and then they had to tease sth for the next season in the last 5 minutes so they did the most out-of-character idiotic scene to ever exist. terrible. so ideally i would have made huddy get together sometime earlier in 6th season (not much, just maybe one, two episodes earlier) and house's breakdown in the finale to be a problem already for the two of them to overcome. or made huddy happen a few episodes into s7, and have either cuddy come to house in the s6 finale but not sleep with him, or have wilson come there and sleep with house somehow make house pull himself together

2. speaking of how huddy happens in canon, i would also love to change the episode in which cuddy breaks up with house. it's a terrible episode. it's boring. it's the same plot as the episode with cuddy's mum that was only like, what, 5 episodes earlier?? cuddy is behaving extremely out of character, and the breakup comes off very cheap. so. first of all, get rid of the cuddy cancer scare plot (i meannnn it's a nice parallel to wilson later, but it's really not worth it). second of all, have her break up with house in a more rational way, having decided he is too much of a mess, or that her career is too important to her to have to accomodate house at work all the time, or anything else. just have it be a product of rational thinking and not. this shit.

(overall i would have loved for huddy to happen sometime in the earlier seasons, like season 3 i think would be great! then they could have broken up bc of cuddy wanting a child and house not or sth, and they would have many many seasons post-breakup to somehow mend their working relationship and maybe even get to the point of house being a family friend)

3. there are so many -isms and -phobias in this fucking series. so. less of that, pretty please. i'm fine with house being a terrible person in this instance but i would love for the overall narrative to show him the middle finger for it more often. i would especially love to have a transgender or intersex character appear and not be ridiculed bc really. they were pushing it with the gender-related queerphobia.

4. cameronnnnn holy shit could we please get some decent and consistent writing for cameron. she doesn't have to be likeable, just. uaughhh. ok so i would lean more into her forming weird codependent relationships with patients, and her general emotional fuckedupness. i would have added a cameron-centric episode just before the wedding or just after it to show that she's not 100% invested in this relationship. also an episode concentrating around her work in the ER and her coping with how many patients go through her hands and how she doesn't remember most of them. also i would change her name to literally anything that doesn't end in -on like pleaseeee this is a nightmare i can't stand her being named allison cameron. let it be alice.

5. seasons 7 and 8 and the A-plot – B-plot balance. pisses me off when house is spending whole episodes not doing his job. go back to the ducklings. or ignore the case but at least do it on the hospital grounds - speaking of which, ROOF SCENES, WHERE ARE MY ROOF SCENES. there were some really nice roof scenes in the first seasons. i want the roof to feature more in the later seasons. if house must Not Do his job then at least i'd have him doing something silly on the rooftop. hot wheels track. painting the mona lisa naked. whatever.

also #6 bonnie girlie i'm obsessed with you. more bonnie. my favourite worst real estate agent in new jersey. i would have her appear once per each season. she is thirteen's one night stand. she is a clinic patient. she is selling kutner's flat. i would love for there to be more bonnie.

IS LINK CLICK GOOD AGAIN WAS RHE FINAL GOOD

okay god so. this is complicated. i'm keeping this spoiler free lol, but i wrote an essay so if you dont wanna read that tldr this season wasn't good and this episode retains those overall issues but left me with enough intrique that im still invested if incredibly cautious and heavily jaded

i have suchhhh mixed feelings on this final episode and on season 2 as a whole. having slept on it and letting the euphoria wear off a bit, the episode as a whole was like. fine. it was emblematic of a lot of the issues ive had with the whole season so far. i think the pacing wasnt great, i think we spent way too long on flashbacks, and oh my god the fight scenes were far far too long (looking at one in particular like i did not care about those characters or their relationship). but the ending of the episode, at least in the moment, made me forget all about that and all about the problems with the whole season. it focused back on the main trio, and we saw interactions between them that made me remember why i love these characters and why i loved season 1. and there was a reveal at the end that, when watching, made me quite frankly go absolutely ape shit insane and feel like i was dying so. lol

but again, sleeping on it, while the end of the episode was a reminder of what i loved, it feels a bit hollow when placed in the context of the rest of the season. i think of how crazy the reveal was last night for me, but then i wonder how much more intense and meaningful it wouldve been had we actually spent the last 12 episodes exploring these characters instead of speedrunning a plot that nobody really cared about. in that way, it almost feels a bit insulting? that's kind of harsh, but idk how else to put it lol. like they had this great idea and strung us along with the bare minimum while making some of the worst writing decisions ive ever seen, and then finally at the end are like "hey! remember this thing! remember! arent we smart and clever and good writers!" and its just. sigh.

i think about what we couldve had had we spent this season with lu guang and cheng xiaoshi. if we had been shown them interacting more than maybe two times this season. if we had spent less time on fight scenes and cops and murder drama and actually spent time on the characters that i watched season 1 for. this season feels like something that shouldve been a film or half a season, if it even really needed to exist at all. it feels like they were twiddling their thumbs for twelve episodes because they just wanted to set up li tianchen and the big reveal at the end. and in that way its a huge disappointment, and a bit of an insult. they made me watch twelve episodes of something that feels like they barely thought about just so they could move on to their greater plot in the last five minutes of the season. this whole season feels like it was a stepping stone, a minor or transitory plot point in a greater story, which is a little iffy considering we all waited for two years just for something that felt like it barely mattered.

all in all, this season in general has just left a bad taste in my mouth. the conflict arises bc what they do get right makes me want to keep watching. i care about lu guang and cheng xiaoshi and qiao ling, like a lot. and with the reveal they did last night i want to see what's happening and there's a part of me that feels vindicated for being right about certain plot elements. am i falling for a shitty carrot on a stick? yeah, kinda, and that feels a little gross. i'll watch season 3 when it comes out and we'll see from there. i want to believe they'll turn it around and maybe now that they've gotten all this plot bullshit out of the way they'll refocus on cheng xiaoshi and lu guang, and maybe then we can all look back on this season and laugh and say "oh yeah that season sucks lol but the rest of it is so good so we just ignore it." at this point that's kind of best case scenario. which isn't a glowing review but play stupid games win stupid prizes i guess

alright, here comes the long ass super personal and sentimental post absolutely nobody asked for (you’re welcome)

i watched episode 1 of bad buddy the day it aired (1 year ago today!) out of sheer luck. i dont even remember how i discovered it, but my initial thought was: “im bored. it’s 11pm and i dont want to go to sleep. this trailer looked fun. oh it came out today? sure what the fuck.” and i watched it in bed, on my phone. completely fucking unaware of what was about to happen to me and my life - and this honestly amuses me so much when i think about it because let me tell you...

i am NOT one to watch romance for romance’s sake. i really couldnt care less for it tbh. i’m not what i’d call a shipper at all (though i used to be, and if you remember my blog back then i owe you financial compensation bc tbh that whole spectacle exhausted me ANYWAY-). 

romance is just something ive always preferred as a side dish to plot, bc i only tend to like it when it’s super well done, and ive never found any of it very realistic. this was actually pretty unfortunate for past me bc fun fact, i am a little bit of a hopeless romantic, and romcoms are my guilty pleasure. the problem is i also dont like any of them enough to care about them after ive satisfied my initial “i want to watch something cheesy and cute” urge. i’d seen a few other bl’s over the years but only bc i was bored or wanted to watch something gay, and none of them had ever stuck in my mind after i finished them. i actively avoided those fandom spaces so i definitely wasn’t keeping up with what was new. 

(now listen, i have very specific thoughts on bl itself, but im not gonna get into that here (and actually miscellar said yesterday that the bl difference between 2020 and 2022 is unrecognizable and that basically sums it up so i dont have to lmao <3)).

- and ep1 of bad buddy is pretty typical bl! i adore this about it tbh because i was completely unprepared for everything the show was about to pull. my initial reaction was that it was something fun to look forward to every week.

but it really is That Bitch, and truly feels like something i’d been waiting my whole life to see. a romantic comedy that was incredibly realistic in the sense of being overwhelmingly human, and also overwhelmingly queer. it’s so effortlessly fucking funny, while simultaneously a very (very very very) layered and emotional story. i will sing its praises to the end of time. it is quite literally the most well crafted show i’ve ever seen, and every time i rewatch it, or go back and reread old meta, im reminded that im not insane believing that. it just literally is that good. it’s such a simple story done so. extremely. well. it’s so ordinary, and that makes it extraordinary, and that was the intention from the start.

but i also have to say, one of the best things about having this show, is getting to be apart of the amazing community i found here loving it alongside me. bc i avoid fandoms. i stick to the places and the people/mutuals i know. i drift through edit tags more than i follow individual blogs. i block people like lightning. i have always had anons and replies off and i enjoy my privacy!!!

and i have talked to more people and made more friends and have had more fun this past year than i ever have before on this site. 

it took me until after bb finished airing to start following people back, but by then i knew which blogs posted what and what i’d want to see more of on my dash - and there are still many many people im not following, or who arent following me, that i talk to! i love each of you so very much, and i want to do a couple special shoutouts, if thats okay. ♥️

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

ok i can probably think of a couple of things for this. uhhhh...sly cooper, the first game. i think probably because i actually played the second and third ones before i ever played sly 1 but as much fun as it is I don't think it holds up nearly as well as the others do.uhhhh sonic ummmmmmm..........the 90s animated shows. they're fun, they have good bits, but again I don't think they hold up super well especially when you look at what the franchise has been doing storytellingwise in the last couple of years. not to say i don't like them, because I do, but I feel like people hold them (specifically satam) up as some like, untouchably good shows and they're. they're low-budget animated saturday morning schlock from the 90s. i can't actually think of anything for xs.

Maru and zyro being siblings continues to be the highlight for me and i am getting emotionally attached. I need hijinks, i need zyro helping maru, i need maru to draw on his face when he sleeps and to explode his microwave for science.

ah you changed your user and i could not find you! how could you lol! glad you're still here <3 i'm gonna add to the filler spree convo we're mostly in rn and idk idk i don't know if it's mostly fandom. i feel like it's money?? why would a dude who makes six figures on patreon alone care about youtube's adsense?? idk idk greed?? but since it takes more effort to routinely make a cohesive and engaging plot and the views for lore drop videos (which i wish erik would stop those even tho i like lore and incorporate the info into videos with relevant plot lines like how in books and movies they don't recommend those writers info dump) and plot-heavy works that aren't inversion don't get views.

the only 100k view videos the past 3/4 months are sleep audios cause of those casual listeners (and not even the gavin one which at least had some v v v slight character development in it). if all you had to do was stick a mic near your chest for your heartbeat and breathe to get 140k+ views lmao and your (albeit poorly done) final episode of a villain's plot doesn't crack 50k then you'll prob heed to those casual listeners. he used to make celebratory discord posts when characters got their first 100k views on a video, he made a big deal when that now-moved lasko in the movie theater audio reached a million views, and he had a patreon livestream around when he made the mario tournament audio where he lightly mentioned it being a bummer when videos didn't do well (he made light of it but still).

he mentioned in an old q&a about doing this to tell stories the way he wanted, but i feel like the views and money are what's steering him away from it??

I feel like money is literally the only other option aside from the possibility that hes simply lost interest in the stories he was telling. Maybe he still cares about telling good stories deep down, but i think even if thats true the views and money is winning out. Which is just sad, this started out as a hobby and it should stay as such. Especially with him having so many patrons on top of his IRL job. Patrons don’t just…. Leave easily. He might lose casual viewership, but patrons and dedicated fans would stick around if he started valuing quality>quantity again. Do you know how happy i would be if he started uploading less often in favor of releasing better written, plot-centric videos??? You would Not believe it. And youtubers who do that literally garner a dedicated fanbase, there are artists out there who have a trove of patrons supporting them through several months without releasing art because they love it and its of high quality. Erik is more than capable of doing that.

I really do just think the man has so much potential, and i feel its not being executed to its peak right now. If he sat down and gave himself even like…. Idk one upload a week or one every two weeks, he could be writing better thought out videos.

Anyways, i definitely agree with you that its the money and views steering him away. Which is a damn shame, bc once again… 6 figures on patreon + a day job. He does not need to kneel for The Algorithm™️.

Views/hits/likes dont determine the value or quality of your art. Ignore the views, write a good story because its something you wish to make FUCK what other people think! Create from your heart knowing its the best you could put out in that moment, not just something you think will garner views. You know how amazing some videos with 1k views are on youtube??? Fics with 100 hits??? Art with 6 likes???? Just Create with all you are, others will find your passion and feel blessed to have been able to do so.
