i am pleased to say that i have gotten to evp 999 on gone fission hydroplant for the first time! it took a lot of grinding and reflecting to get here, but it was such a fun rotation ✨

some thoughts under the cut....!

i think the best part of this grind was that i could start at EVP 300 rather than EVP 40. i say that, but i still spent a good 124 jobs getting there... whoops!

this wouldn't have been possible without getting the bronze and silver badges first, which i wrote about here! i still stand by what i said in this post about key traits in salmon run players.

i feel that the key to my success can be boiled down to being able to rotate around the map and not overlap with what my teammates are doing- leaning into weapon strengths, all while flexing to other things when things go unaddressed.

for anyone curious about how the journey went, i streamed some of it on twitch!

EVP 575 -> 695 (Day 1) | 1 hour and 56 minutes

EVP 695 -> 865 (Day 2) | 8 hours and 11 minutes

while i did peak at EVP 935 on that second stream- as you can see, i quickly fell off of it (and i think you can figure out why).

i could talk about what i liked about my gameplay as well as what i didn't do well, but i think the vods speak for itself (and i usually made some kind of comment at the end of each shift as to what mistakes i did or what i could've done differently).

but i think the most important reminder of this particular grind was how important it is to take breaks while playing. my push from evp 865 to evp 999 was all done off-stream, after i ate dinner, took a shower to decompress and release tension, etc etc!

this push ended up taking around an hour- and all of the shifts were successful (well, except one). i don't think i can stress enough how important it is to take a break away from the game while doing these pushes, because i performed way better that time around.

i think it is evident to anyone who watches the twitch vod that i start getting really fatigued near the end. my movements aren't as sharp; i'm very sluggish. and the way i talk about the game too, is evident of how tired i was.

i still wanted to give an earnest attempt at grinding because i thought that: "well, if i'm able to clear 333% when fatigued, imagine doing it when my sense are actually sharp!" i had 4-5 hours to spare after the stream, and i'm glad i chose to try again in a better state. it was nice to clear HLM for the first time on a regular rotation!

i also feel pretty well attuned to snatchers on this map too now, which is lovely! i did feel that was something i was weak at, previously, but now it's more of a habit for me now which is good! :3c

anyway! fun rotation. of the weapon loadout, i feel like i've got a lot to learn about the s-blast, especially with ink management (i noticed that i died a lot because i couldnt ink paths to move around...). e-liter, while a bit slow compared to splat charger, can be immensely powerful if you can aim well under pressure. sploosh and splattershot are gods and i dont think i need to elaborate on that.

this is a very positive note for me to end my chill season 2023 on- i'll probably only be playing the chargers only challenge + eggstra work before shifting completely into reload (though i may still hop on from time to time)... i think eggstra work will be a cakewalk after doing a bunch of 333% runs hehe 😎

my second contribution to the binary stars zine.

sadly the fic, WHICH IS RLY GOOD, never got posted [long story, not mine to tell ;u;] but this was a telepath!keith/blind!shiro AU. basically keith is a captured BoM, and is sent to the arena in chains to be executed by a beast, but then a blind galra is thrown in to the arena was well, with a weapon. keith is able to convince him they can work together and using his telepathic link, shiro is able to defeat the beast.

afterward, they are thrown together more often in the arena and over time keith learns shiro is actually a human who has been experimented on and altered heavily. he also ends up teaching him about galra culture and how to navigate some of the wierd shit galra go thru [since shiro is experiencing a lot of galra instincts lol].

meanwhile the BoM are working on freeing keith, but keith will not leave without shiro :')

so in this scene, we have keith tracing coordinates on shiro's back, in hopes that he will be able to use them to escape. i do hope viper posts this fic one day but if not, just know it was rly good and liek the perfect slowburn.

so as i keep saying this was a rly good fic. i had like 5 diff scenes i rly wanted to draw but i realized i was NOT going to be able to fit any of them into only 3 pages lol… that didn't stop me from TRYING more than once tho…

attempt #1, 3 pics:

this scene is them bathing [PLATONICALLY] after a round in the arena. keith is lamenting about shiro geting hurt due to keith's reckless fighitng style leaking into shiro thru the mind meld, and thinks about how shiro still moves like he has his human body too, which shiro picks up on thanks to the mind link [which is something of a habit at this point lol]. shiro is angsting about the fact he actually dosen't know the extent of what has been done to him thanks to the injury that blinded him, and after asking to see how he looked as a human, keith ends up reassuring him that he's still a cutie lol.

the page with the dialogue only is when i realized there was no way i was fitting that scene into 3 pages lol.

attempt #2:

this scene is basically near the start to the fic. keith is brought in to the arena and chained to a pylon. he hears a bunch of rly loud monster noises and pounding at the door across the arena and is like, wow i am actually fucked 8D then shiro is brought in and thrown to the ground, along with a weapon. keith watches him try to feel around for the weapon and realizes he's blind, then calls out to him. shiro immediately goes into attack mode but keith is able to convince him that they can be allies, and briefly explains he's a telepath before melding their minds so that shiro can see through his eyes, and after a bit of clumsiness they are able to beat the beast this way :D

my designs for the boys. i have unclothed versions too that show off all their markings and scars but i feel like that would get the post flagged so these will have to do lol. i did post them on twitter tho, if you wanna bother looking there. also yes, this design is rly similar to the other contribution i did for this zine, which is because i rly like the idea of keith having these specific markings LOL. this is p much my official go to glara!keith design.

Physical Training every morning at 4:30.

Dieted Breakfast at 8.

Stealth Training at 9:30.

Dieted Lunch at 12:30pm.

Weapons Training at 2:30.

Gear Analysis & Training at 4.

Dieted Dinner at 5:30.

Sparring Session at 8.

She worked you around the clock, and still managed to get all of her other duties done with nothing short of perfection.

When you had first met Phasma, you were immediately intimidated and a little scared.

And when they paired her as your mentor, you were at odds.

You had been picked up to be a covert operative, and the First Order had given you an Imperial Trooper Captain as your mentor…

But as soon as the Captain laid out her expectations, you quickly realized how serious and skilled she was.

She could without a doubt train an assassin.

Phasma threw another punch, but this one you didn’t dodge in time…

Her fist collided with your face, causing you to stumble back and fall on your ass.

You groaned in frustration.

You would never beat this woman…

“Again.” Phasma ordered.

You huffed, rubbing your nose slightly and then realizing your nose was bleeding…

Oh well…

you thought as you got back up, your breathing labored and your body sore and aching.

Again and again Phasma struck you down, until she had decided it was enough for today.

“You can go. I expect you here at 4:30am sharp.” Phasma commanded, before leaving you on the floor of the sparring ring.

You groaned again in frustration, smacking your hand against the mat in anger but quickly recoiling in pain.

You winced at your bruised hand, as images of Phasma pinning you down flashed in your head.

You sighed, feeling your core tense and heated as it usually was after your more intense sparring sessions.

You just couldn’t help it…

Sparring Sessions we’re the only time that Phasma ever took off her entire armor.

Or at least the only time in which you were ever present…

Every time she shoved you to the ground, brushed against your shoulder, pinned you to the floor, or just touches you in any way, sparks of electricity were sent or your core.

You knew this was dangerous…

This was not the business for developing feelings.

But you couldn’t stop what you felt.

So you suppressed it.

Unfortunately for you, that meant your mind only brought it up more…

So every night, once Phasma had ended your session, you were finally able to relieve the painful ache in between your legs before going to bed.

The next morning you dragged yourself out of bed and into your training clothes.

You were tired and your mind was still fuzzy.

Today was leg day, so your mourning training would be in the weight room.

No one was awake at this hour, let alone lifting weights, so you walked the corridors in silence, which made you only more tired.

You entered the weight room with a yawn to find Phasma in her sparring wear still, leaning against a wall with a wicked smirk on her face.

You closed the door.

“Your late.” She sneered.

“Sorry… What will it be this time?” You mumbled.

Whenever you were late, Phasma would punish you with intense physical regimes…

“Something new…” Phasma taunted with that devilish smirk.

“Ok…” you said, not understanding what was going on with her.

“You know, I have to do security camera checks every few months. I did one last night.” She purred.

This was a new tone…

“Oh?”

She didn’t usually make small talk…

“Yes… And I saw something interesting…” her eyes twinkled with a new, dark substance.

Your stomache dropped.

She knew.

She had to know.

You hummed in response, not being able to form any words as your mind was spiraling.

“So today, we will be trying out a new punishment…” Phasma tauntingly purred.

You gulped.

Her tone sent shivers down your spine and sparks to your core.

“Yes Ma’am.” you whispered.

“Oh no, that won’t do… What was it you called me last night and the many nights before that…?” She wickedly toyed with you.

She’s seen the other ones as well…

You were so Fucked.

“I asked you a question, trainee.” Phasma jeered.

“Mommy…” you whispered, eyes glued to the floor and an intense blush scoring your face.

But this wasn’t satisfactory for Phasma.

“Look me in the eyes when you tell me what you call me when your hand in inbetween your legs and your screaming my name in pleasure.” Phasma lustfully commanded, her eyes now completely dark with lust.

You whimpered and looked into her hungry, lustful eyes, “Mommy…”

Phasma hummed and proceeded to straddle a weight lifting bench.

“Count. If you stop, forget, or miscount, Mommy starts over. Understand?” She jeered.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! 😁💖 I worked really hard on this. So I hope you all enjoy! Headcanons are below the cut! - ✒️🐉

1) They have a HUGE wedding. Many friends and Family come. And I headcannon that Jay has a very big extended family so that's a lot!🤣

2) They move into the old lighthouse and fix it up/fortify it. It eventually becomes a small rest stop for ships.

3) Nya runs a mechanics shop for boats and water craft there. And Jay has a shop to sell salvage, drift wood, and knickknacks. He also does a little inventing on the side. Although it doesn't usually end well. Lol. Name ideas for their shops would be appreciated!

4) They have a LOT of kids. Five to be exact. Ray, Maya, Ed, and Edna are very proud grandparents. The kids are, in order from youngest to oldest, Piper, Ren, Wynn, Raine, and Poe. Currently I only have a design for Poe. (Seen above.) But the rest are coming. I can assure you. I'll provide some descriptions in the meantime!

Poe: Pictured above! He's very calm and charismatic. And while he's a good fighter and pirate hunter, he enjoys quieter hobbies such as painting. His main weapon is a harpoon.

Raine: Very light skinned. With curly silver hair. (Her hair color is caused by her unique elemental power, Storm!⛈️) She's a little in the small side. But still sturdy and a real fighter. She's a tough cookie! Raine eventually becomes part of the Next Gen Ninjas.

Wynn: Light skinned, with black curly hair. Always wearing a pair of flight goggles. (He's an inventor like Ed and Edna.) Eternally curious and questioning.

Ren: He's got red hair like Jay, and tan complexion like his mom. Ren's got an explorer streak and loves charting new islands. He plans to sail to the other side of Ninjago's oceans someday. He's almost never seen without Wynn. The two are inseparable.

Piper: The baby of the family! She has blonde hair like Libber. She may be little. But she's brave. Not too much on her currently. But she will have a bigger role to play in the future.

5) Cole LOVES their kids. And is very protective of them. (Like "would give his life for them" kind of protective.) He practically treats them as though they were his own. He's their bestest uncle, besides Kai.

6) Raine has a mix of both Nya and Jay's element. She's the master of Storm. She's the first case of a merged element in Ninjago history. And when she was young, it was VERY unstable. Raising a super powered baby was NOT easy.

7) They are pirate hunters. For reasons...🧞‍♂️ Anyway! Their family is known for keeping the coasts of Ninjago safe and sound. Especially their oldest boy Poe, who's shaping up to be a great pirate hunter.

8) They own a flying ship! They needed a way to get to shore fast and since they didn't have the Bounty, Nya and Jay just built one of their own. It's smaller but just the right size for them. And it's called the Storm Rider. It's even got cannons for taking down pirate ships!

(P.S. Two quick things! One, these headcanons are related to a fanseason I'm working on called Ninjago: New Genesis. So that's why they don't line up with Dragons Rising. And two, yes. I noticed Poe's eyes are miscolored in one pic. They're supposed to be brown. I didn't notice until after I finished.😂)

Its been a minute lol it i chose to do this with Legend!

Its had been about 5 hours since you had taken a hit for Legend. A stray bobolink managing to climb a horse and swing about its weapon came hurdling towards the veteran. He had been to focused on covering Wild, unable to hear the clopping hooves over the sounds of battle. But you did.

It was about 4 and a half hours ago that they had finally cleared out the monsters in the area. Miscellaneous bands of Moblins and Bobolinks of varying eras lay strewn about, piled on top of one another.

Now he sat in their makeshift camp, refusing to move from your side as you rested; providing a sharpened glare to those who pressed harder for him to rest on his own. A potion was all you really needed thankfully, and you were ordered to bed rest for the rest of the day and the day following. The gash along your head cleared rather quickly with the magical substance and left nothing short or a few bruises here and there. 

A few to many if you asked the vet. But he had learned early on in his travels to settle for ‘not dead’ when he could. 

You promptly passed out after being healed and settled into a spare bed roll. Legend offered to take first shift once you did, leaving absolutely no room for protest from the others.

He spent his watch starring into the fire, poking it to pass the time. He had hoped that if he didn’t stare you down out right, may haps you would wake up faster. Something about “a watched pot never boils” from Warriors rang in his head. Though he’ll give credit were its due, while time didn’t pass any faster—nor any easier—but it did feel like you had only been out forever, not quite an eternity.

By time he had convinced Four that he would take over the second shift as well, showing no signs of sleeping any time soon, you had begun to stir lightly. The world too bright and too dark all around you at the same time. Slowly the effects of fatigue swirling around your head, blurring together into a nausea, as you came too. The taste of potion still sat on you tongue, sticky and bitter. Your face scrunched as you sat up.

Waking up after a nasty blow always sucked. It was always a different time; a different place than where you were originally hit. You had no idea who else was injured, if you were safe, if you were alone. Your head throbbed with such questions.

“Are you alright? Anything sore?” Legend was quick to come closer to you. You barely made out what he had said, still trying to get the world to stop tilting.

Your voice was hoarse and crackly. “Potion tastes like ass.” Legend searched your face for pain before narrowing his stare.

“Good. Maybe that will get you to be more careful!” He prompted with an eye roll. He plopped down next to you and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Right back at you.” You grumbled lightly, attempting to sit up more, only for him to push you back down gently.

“I’m not the one who ran head first into a Bokoblin swing!” A quiet groan sounded across camp, stilling both of you for a moment. Waiting on baited breath until the sailor turned back over and began snoring once more.

“No but you’re the one who didn't see it and didn't move, so you almost were!” you huffed. “I don’t see what the big deal is, your safe and uninjured aren’t you?” You asked, looking him over, at least as much as you could from your spot on the ground.

“Yes but-“

“Then everything is fine! There shouldn’t be such a big issue.” You said turning away from him a bit, attempting to get up again, only to wince and fall back. Legend barely managed to cushion your fall.

"Such- there- ugh!" Legend let out an ugly laugh, but reeled in his voice before anyone stirred further. He gave you and incredulous look as he scanned your face. "Not such a big issue my ass! You got hit!"

"So did you!" You whispered, pulling the blanket around you tighter as you glared at him. Truly annoyed at his tone. "And so did Wild, and Sky, AND Time!!" gruffly you shifted in you spot. "But you aren't hovering over them when you ought to be making sure they're okay-"

"We already did! And non of them got hit as badly as you did! They got hit and got up, you were knocked out!" Legend hissed at you.

"But I'm fine, they might not have been! You might not have been!!''

“(Name) what are you talking about?!” Legend whispered, actually assisting you in getting up this time around. “You’re borderline concussed, this is not fine!”

“Yes it is!” You stared him down. “If something happened to you then it would be a problem. You’re more important.”

You’re more important.

Dozens of thoughts fly by his eyes. Countless scenarios and questions. Dozens and dozens of reasons why that simply wasn't true. A twinge of guilt that you didn’t think you were that important.

“(Name), what makes you think I’m more- That’s not- (Name), no.” His words bumped into each other and tumbles their way out of their mouth.

“Link, come one. Look at you. You’re a hero. You’re basically the hero. You’re on this quest thing, with all these other big heroes, doing all these amazing things. Saving people, towns, worlds for fucks sake. And I’m…well I’m me." Your shoulders tightened up before you slumped forward in a sulk.

"And I’m kinda just—well I’m kinda just here to tag along. If something happened to me then that’s that; but if something happens to you a whole world loses a hero, people will be in danger, th-“

You made a small 'hmpf' as a hand met your mouth. The faint smell of copper, salt and charcoal filled your nose.

“Breathe.” His voice was small and uneven, like he was holding his breath in hope you would do the same. His brows were drawn together tightly, a deep frown twitched below them.

You took a deep breath from your nose, once then twice before he let go of you.

"(Name). You're a hero, too."

"No, I'm just-"

"You are though. You help us in more way than you even know. You fight with us in battle, and you've seen just as much of this fucked up adventure thing that we have. Maybe this is your first time around—goddess i hope its your only time around—but that's still a time." Legend hand found it's way to your cheek.

The chance to see when they see, to travel with such a group, and after becoming closer with them, the bonds you made made that morbid thought worth it.

The relationship you had developed with the prickly veteran drowned out any other fears you and about the whole thing.

"You are a hero in your own right, and you are just as important as the rest of those idiots, I'd say damn near more important. Goddess knows what I would do if we lost you out here. If I last you out here." You didn't notice when the first tears roll down your cheek till he swept them away. "There is no ignoring or refilling your space if you are gone, love" He squeezed your face a bit before allowing you to fall into him in an awkwardly sitting hug.

Just behind you he watched Twilight sit up in the night, alert to your weak sniffles. Though once his eyes met Legend's he nodded and laid back down, turned away in his bed roll.

Legend continued to hold you and rub your back as you clung to him.

"You're important to us, love. We love you, hell I know I do." He mumbled into your hair. Little by little, your sounds faded into the dawn. Your fears put out like the smoldering fire in the midst of the camp, replaced by the suns rays and Legends arms around you.

I'll do...favorites I guess? If that's even possible my gosh... I'm hard-pressed at this point to find any I don't like, and others are like...yes this one and this one and this one and this one.... Like the whole underground battle series of like seven??? Is just one giant episode to me, lol.

ANYWAY.... FAVORITE Top Ten episodes, listed in airing order not a ranking cuz that's impossible, lol.

Now, to absolutely no one's surprise...

These are all Stein and/or Spirit feature episodes. Except maybe two. Here we gooooo!

Episode 4: "Engage the Witch Hunter! A Remedial Lesson in the Graveyard?"

Why a fave? Okay well first of all...we get to see the four main characters fighting together against an enemy. The episode starts with the feeling of...okay, here we go... Like setting the tone of the anime after the concept and chars have been introduced. Gonna be a monster of the week thing, fighting new enemies and collecting souls. Like Digimon but not you know?

So we see awesome techniques from both Maka and Black Star and Sid as a char is super creative, so it's all that stuff to start with. And then...then we start to get that tiny bit of backstory at the end about Spirit and Stein and it's like, wait say what now?? The red-head is more than a comic drunk deadbeat dad? So then...

Episode 5: "Shape of the Soul – Enter the Ultimate Meister, Stein?"

Yeah okay... I mean. Obviously. We see Stein and it's like whoa that design is creepy this guy is creepy and then we hear Spirit blubbering drunkenly about the past and it's like creepy and oh snap I am now sympathetic to Spirit and there is a far deeper backstory going on here with these adults cuz we had the privilege of seeing Sid alive before you know and suddenly he's dead in the prior ep so mystery and...yeah. And then it's very much presented as wow...Stein is...unbeatable. They're doomed. And that twist ending I was just as much huh??? as Soul was and I just. Got captivated by the backstory.

Episode 7: "Black-blooded Terror – There's a Weapon inside Crona?"

More Spirit and Stein stuff. I swear that hospital scene was my favorite scene in the entire show for the longest time. It's hilarious, I still crack up watching it. The toes thing is just... And that way too long dramatic pause and camera pull before he reveals the divorce, and Stein freaking already knows and just...yeah I'm getting giddy thinking about it. But ALSO it's like, okay...now we've departed from the casual anime silliness. We skipped the 30+ eps of growth like Digimon and went straight to the big major character issue. Which you know, makes sense the further into the anime we go for this anime. But...yeah. It gets. Real. Not kids anymore. Crona with Ragnarok are hilarious I love them, and Crona is highkey relatable; Crona is every teenager to exist ever. But yeah then Soul's sacrifice, for Maka... It's just...wow. Yeah it got real.

Episode 8: "The Witch Medusa – Bearer of the Great Terrible Soul?"

Truthfully, probably my favorite episode as things stand right now. My mind may change later. Why? Because obviously...Spirit and Stein get to fight together. We get to see what the future is... It's like seeing the past in Star Wars, the very beginning of Ep. 1 you know where we see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan fight and it's like...yessss this is how things are supposed to be in a world that isn't broken. Seeing Stein and Spirit fight together like that is just... Yeah my heart is pounding thinking about how insanely awesome that is. Also Stein is hot. Plus more of that...not kids anymore. Maka's pure terror at sensing Medusa's soul, seeing her...seeing what a real witch is. Like yeah kid the little kishin egg monsters and magical cats you've been playing with are nothing. Maka realizes the world of meisters and weapons she's in is quite a bit different than her experience so far. And can we talk about how Maka wasn't going to leave Soul's side??? Was just gonna take the hit and die right beside him, because he died for her??? MY HEART! Also Stein is hot yes I know I said it already it bears repeating and man that...seriousness...the way Stein looks at Medusa, the way the witch knows who they are which in itself shows a greater threat... That utter gravity that falls over that moment at the end there, after Stein blocks her attack and it's like....oh snap. Now what? Not to mention all the new tiny details we get about soul resonance and the possibilities and how a weapon can take on features of their meister in the special attacks! (Spirit takes on stitches here on the witch hunter blade, and in the last episodes he takes on Lord Death's skull face on the kishin hunter blade. That's so cool...) Okay I have to stop. I could go on. Like I said...favorite episode as things stand right now.

Episode 13: "The Man with the Magic Eye – Soul and Maka's Diverging Soul Wavelength?"

This one surprised me because initially I didn't care for it. I don't care for Free's design, shark!wolf just doesn't appeal to me. But over time this really grew on me. The writing is excellent and soooooo many major things happen. We get the first bit of touching on the morality issue, like, is DWMA really the correct moral power? Free says something about it and then it becomes a bigger theme going forward. We get the beginning of the black blood effects and the battle against/with it and the start of what all that means... The start of the "acceptance" theme even if it isn't named. We hear Soul's piano for the first time even though it isn't named as such until Brew. We get to see Soul and Maka both so confused but both so dedicated to each other, and the maturing starting to happen, that needs to still happen... It's a huge ep for their relationship. And also...Eruka. I love Eruka. All things Eruka. Any episode with Eruka is a delight. But yeah this episode is just SO deep and excellent, it needs more love. (Also in the candle room fight if you listen close we hear that Spirit has an outy belly button and I'm just alksjdahkjghsd how silly.)

Episode 14: "The Super Written Exam – Heart-Pounding, Reeling, and Restless. You're Kidding!?"

Ehhh heheheh...heheh... Pure absurdity. Pure comedic awesomeness. Everything about this episode. I love things where many characters are featured in more than a cameo and get real attention. We see more of all their homes, more of what they do and who they are when not in battle... Spirit being an absolute fool... That hilarious buildup timer to the end of the exam... Blair ruining what should have been something GOOD agh silly cat I'm still annoyed, lol. I'm not gonna say much here since I said so much about the last episode but man, yeah. Just pure comedy gold, I never ever tire of this episode. "Giraffe, giraffe~" Heheheh.

Episode 23: "Dead or Alive – In the Rift between Revival and Dazzlement?"

Okay like I said before... The entire underground battle, starting with the anniversary party, I consider one giant episode. I name all of those as favorites. I selected this one for here because it's where we get some of Stein's backstory I think? Flashback to he and Spirit as young teens, and we learn where Stein's mental state really is. We get to see more of his and Spirit's dynamic, how they work together both successfully and less successfully... Many headcanons borne of this battle in this episode. My gosh I just...can't put it into words in any brief way. I could write an epic length post breaking down nearly every line, look, gesture... And is this also the episode where the kishin emerges and my gosh if that isn't the creepiest most suspenseful moment I've ever seen. Also, we see more of Eruka! I adore her. And Free. But yeah whole episode... Fantastic.

Episode 25: "The Death Scythes Convene – Stop Dad's Staff Reassignment!?"

And this episode...also silly and ridiculous, but awesome because we get to see a little more of the "adult" side of the DWMA and how things operate. Comedically yes, cuz Soul Eater is a comedy, but still there's quite a bit of seriousness too. Stein's madness as a plot point... But my gosh... Marie, Azusa... Justin... The dynamic between all the adults. I would give ANYTHING for a prequel anime where we get to see all these complete idiots in the academy and how it all went down between them. And my gosh we've had plenty backstory teased already with Stein's experiments against Spirit, Sid and baby Black Star... Seeing the adults as kids would be the perfect "reboot" series for me. Plus that basketball ending, bringing it all full-circle in terms of...okay, here we are again, and here we go again... Onto the next phase of the show/of our lives. It's a fantastic turning-point episode and I never tire of it.

Episode 31: "Drying Happiness! Whose Tears Sparkle in the Moonlight?"

This one...so much happens here. We get delightful glimpses of normal life, we get the reminder that Soul plays piano which becomes important quite soon... We get the comedy of Spirit having to parrot Lord Death to Justin because they just won't make the kid take out his earbuds! We get a moment of Crona and Ragnarok actually getting along and having a normal conversation and ohhh myyyy gosshhhhhh I wish we'd had more of that in the show. I adore Ragnarok. But then...ugh. The saga of pain that begins. You get everyone reaching out, you get to see Crona happy... Marie after wandering around lost, saying if there's ever anything you need... Later inviting Crona to her home... Only to be betrayed. And the absolute skill and execution of the writing as they make us believe for a moment that Marie is okay in returning the pen...and then it's revealed that Crona put a snake in the coffee. Just. Oh man. Ugh the pain. Whyyyy Crona whyyy when you had the entire academy to back you up, everyone on your side, full protection from friends, from a death scythe who trusted you to invite to her home, from Lord Death who gave you a second chance... But you still betrayed them all. And then of course, that little snake then is the catalyst for SO much of what happens in the next episodes... Big deal. This ep is so huge. So many different feels...

Episode 40: "The Cards Are Cut – Medusa Surrenders to the DWMA?"

Spirit feature, Spirit feature! I like getting to see a little more of Spirit's responsibilities other than hovering at Lord Death's shoulder waiting 800 years bound to Death City what the heck his poor death scythes for battles that will never come. I know logically he has other jobs as the death scythe, but it's nice to see him doing some of it and more of his relationship with Lord Death (those two raised their children side by side I mean come on there's so much comedic opportunity here). Also the sheer TENSION in the episode from the fact it's Medusa, and Maka's reaction, and Stein's reaction, and then the deal at the end... It's like...okay this is a serious tone-shift and no clue now what is coming. It's a lot of weight all at once leaving me feel like I'm in a whirlwind and kicks off the final arcs of the show and...yeah. This is a good one.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

i love how complex and convoluted his mind is. what's going on in there lol (it's a crazy and unique mix of trauma, doublethink, heavy rationalization, rage, despair, projection, and making symbols of things) he's so so intelligent but because of the aforementioned mess going on in his head, he's fractured and isn't putting that brain to good use, except, of course, for his short-sighted revenge quest

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

he's a hypocrite :) mr "i will not use the weapons of the bear" "i will not kill from a distance" ok well put the explosives and the damn anti-material rifle down my good sir. also teaching the courier a lesson that he needs to learn too lmao - actually, wait no i take this back, i like this facet of his character. it makes him interesting

i guess my real least favorite thing about him is the lack of love that he gets :( look at any reddit thread about him, the ulysses fnv tag on any platform, and you'll know my pain

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

star spangled banner (live at woodstock 1969) - jimi hendrix. just listen. i know it's a protest song. but it gives ulysses vibes

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

we... were both depressed :) it's why i latched onto him - i recognized his hurt, his suicidality, and wanted to see him make it out not only alive but also thriving, so i took his happiness (and mine) into my own hands haha

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

i know i draw him with the same hairstyle all the time but i like to think that he changes it up every now and then, from locs and twists to box braids and other protective hairstyles for black hair :) i'm still learning how to correctly draw those but once i do... !!!!

hello hello! i’m the first anon that sent u an ask after u said u need one ehe~

so i wanted to take ur pick on this one and it might get long so pls bare with me.

all right so without counting the traveler, my first 5 star was Diluc. got him after doing completely random 3 pulls then BAM! my boy shows up. he’s immediately equipped, updated, in my team with Kaeya bc they make AMAZING melt combo, and spoiled alongside my mains. then after a while Xiao’s banner comes up with Yelan’s during 2.7 and since i was super late player i wanted to pull for Xiao. after building up pity, losing my first 50/50 collecting more primos and finally getting Xiao, i replaced Diluc with him (and currently Xiao is the most spoiled character i have).

so that happens and after a while i decided to do a random single pull on the standard banner and Wolf’s Gravestone appears on 4 f-ing pity. is Diluc jealous? is he trynna get my attention back? does he wanna throw hands with Xiao? what’s ur take on this one?

It's not like it matters much anyways. You've always liked Diluc the most.

He knows you do.

The way you called out to him, the way you immediately made him stronger, and the way you kept him by your side for so long. The newfound strength that rushes through his body is addicting, but never as addicting as your presence. Diluc seems to drown in this new feeling but he doesn't care.

He comes home-, and he comes home again when he sees a golden star fall down for the third time.

So why?

What went wrong? Is the stupid code restricting him once again? Why did he end up getting replaced by that gloomy yaksha that seems unhappy wherever you take him? He was sure he answered your call... so why?

He doesn't stop trying after that. Your presence is still there-, just a bit distant. Perhaps if he becomes stronger you'd keep him by your side again? Surely this is only temporary. Only he knows what you need. You do realize that right?

When the next golden star falls down, he forcefully pulls it closer to the Dawn Winery. There is a small pause before his weapon gets replaced by a darker sword, perfectly complimenting him.

Diluc only has a short moment to celebrate.

The moment he is forced back to his stoic expression he realizes that he's victorious.

I managed to fit all five of my main weapons in this image (technically I have six since I play both dynamos interchangeably, but I drew the gold one last time). Anybody here main the same weapons as me?

Overall, both the dynamos are my go-to weapons. I have four stars on both and am steadily climbing towards that 5-star milestone.

Octobrush is the weapon I go to when I don't feel like backlining. I just reached four stars on this weapon and I feel pretty proud of it. I don't play the new kit that much just because it's not as aggressive as I would have liked for it. I like poking with my subs, so I generally prefer splat bombs or suction bombs. As far as specials are concerned, I'm usually not too picky, usually leaning towards specials that let me attack from a distance, like booyah bomb or tri-strike. I don't really use zipcaster that much unless I want to be annoying >:3

Z+F Charger is a weapon I picked up for two reasons (note: these reasons may offend some of you lol). Reason one: I wanted to use a charger (I had/still have big dreams of being a feared sniper). Reason two: it looks nice. Somehow I got four stars on the weapon. "Wait Mango does that mean you fulfilled your dream of being a legendary sniper?" Uhm... no, no not really (shhh). I would say I am decent at it. I really only use it in Tower Control and get about 12+ splats a game. On a good day I usually get more and on a bad day I get less. I'm getting there, though.

S-Blast 91! I honestly have no idea why I picked this one. I guess just cuz I thought the opening stance for blasters looked cool? I dunno. This one is fun to use, though, I and really enjoy it. The first kit is meh so I play the new one.

And my final main is kinda my last-resort weapon for when I need to break a lose streak: Enperries :D I only play these because I'm a simp for Emperor. They are good for all modes and have a variety of play styles, though I mostly use them for offensive/aggressive play styles.

So yeah, those are my mains :>

Maybe I'll make another post about my play styles/preferences or whatever as well as stuff about the game modes if anybody is interested. I know I kinda just info dumped of you lol.

hi hello. it’s me saph. back at it again.

the title is exactly what this looks like.

for those of you that were familiar with the first iteration of this story, welcome back, i’m so happy to have you. for those of you who are not, welcome to my long anticipated spies fic. this was originally published under the user @/suddenly-im-respecsable in about 2018-2019 (there is the early version still floating on tumblr but i have changed my url since and it’s not easily findable) and was cross posted on ao3 but was taken down

the basic gist of the story was that race and albert were fbi agents and were field training jack. they get summoned to nyc (where they were trained) to deal with some super hard gang case that no one can crack. in the process they meet spot who is working for said gang and wants out. davey jacobs is the head of the nyc branch of the fbi and hates race and albert because they almost blew up his weapons lab.

i think i got through 14 ish chapters before realizing the whole thing was badly written and in order for it to be what i wanted it to be i needed to redo it. and then i graduated high school and started college and changed fandoms and started dating my boyfriend and there was a global pandemic and then i graduated college and all of that.

and now, 5 years later, i am back on my bullshit, this time with a creative writing degree under my belt and @ainti-pretty to force me to finish what i started. the plot is all relatively the same, just a little tweaked. i never got to the point of all the plot twists so if you read the original version you have no spoilers besides some background knowledge that i am changing around a little. im working entirely off of my original hand written outline that is on the back of my notes from my 11th grade english class

and what motivated me to do this now you may ask? well i’m interning in nyc over the summer and can do irl accurate location mapping lol. that and i made a tumblr to literally post this story and i never finished it so i figured that i should probably do that. and if you’re doubting that this will get finished, which, fair, @ainti-pretty and i are literally living together next year and i am certain that i will be hounded about this every day of my existence

Fairytail 100YQ: Chapter 125, thoughts

Yes, Lucy is basically me going stars over this chapter, it is so damn good! So finally were on Sabertooth's Great Library to search for the books on 5 Dragon Gods and the moment Natsu gets his hands on the search machine, the first book he looks for is Lucy's book: The Adventure of the Iris!

If that isn't cute, I don't know what is.

Everyone is looking for their type of books. Happy looking for Fish books and Gray looking for books related to Juvia. It's a library and it's already so chaotic with FT around, lol.

We even have Sorano for a bit of fun!

So, Sorano has more info on the real White Wizard, something Jellal was specifically looking for. She's in Gold Owl, an Alchemy Guild in the continent of Guiltina! All the more reason to go there.

Now, this is a twist.

The real white Wizard is Athena! The most powerful weapon that could destroy all 5 Dragon Gods is actually a living doll made out of Alchemy! And wow, she looks so amazing, like straight out of Edens Zero!!!! Man, things are getting real now. I love the design! Also, her personality is also that of a robot as we see later in the chapter.

God Serena is revived by Alchemy and we finally have our Signario Sisters...

Their designs look good as well as their personalities. One is ruthless while the other is kind. How bout a battle between Erza and Mira vs Signario Sisters?

Also, Gold Owl is actually trying to enslave all Dragon Gods, just wow.

Man, this chapter was a good set-up. Can't wait to see what else Lucy and gang finds in the library. Also, Duke Barbaroa is soo cool!!!

WOW I FINALLY FINISHED THIS SET. There were a lot of things I wanted to get right for them so I took some extra time but hopefully it was worth it! The guild for this set is Cobalt Heart- a guild with focus on maritime missions, lead by (of course) guildmaster Neptune. There was no other planet I could've picked for his namesake lol. They're the guild I jokingly call the most jockish, but some moreso than others. Waves aren't always peaceful, but he's become someone who understands their power and the responsibility needed for it.

Aww Tia and Thran talking about TV shows, I like seeing more interactions between characters we don't see together that often.

Also Tia looking out for D'jok by getting the video checked! We see her check up on him a couple of times in these episodes, I love their friendship. Here it's like a little reversal of when D'jok was looking out for her when the whole Rocket Netherball thing was going down

Hooooow does Thran's filter program somehow let him see what happened before the explosion?? That's not filtering anything out, it's straight up new footage!

Ok quick rant about the attempts at portraying "girl power":

Honestly idk about D'jok being annoyed they're all girls, this with the Elektra's comment earlier are examples of S3 being more heavy-handed like, “yeah these players are girls, but ACTUALLY that doesn't mean they're not good players!”. Compare this to the previous seasons where we just... had players that were really good and happened to be girls, and no one needed to comment on it? Like, Kernor is the top goal keeper and Lun-Zaera is the best striker for the Wambas, plus Tia was the Snow Kid's biggest weapon in season 1 so I don't think D'jok would immediately dismiss the girls like that. Maybe he would be disconcerted at being the only boy, but still. It's like in the lego n/in/ja/go movie where they were like “she's a GIRL, but she can still be a NINJA!” which has a weird psychological effect of actually enforcing to kids that there is some sort of disparity between men and women, when instead they could just portray her as an equal and let that do the talking, no need to manufacture sexism so you can call it out like “hey, we're so progressive!” (not that you can't have stories with that too, I just don't think it makes as much sense in this situation and shows a different approach than the first two seasons).

projects worked on: technically i only wrote for Andromeda Rogue but i did rotate my other side wips rather violently in my head. like this is not a gentle rotisserie chicken rotating, this is a full-on centrifuge machine

proudest accomplishment: this is the month i've written the most all year ????? also i reached over 50K on AR draft 2!!!

books read: Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo; Artificial Condition (Murderbot Diaries #2) by Martha Wells; and i've also just started A Rival Most Vial by writeblr's very own @ashen-crest!

at what degree of sparse activity do i have to concede defeat call it a hiatus. i'm doing fine, i've just been really busy with work and haven't had time to devote to writeblr that much 😔

remember when i said i was gonna intro my Third, Secret WIP this month? yeah, that didn't happen. i'm trying to crack down on AR bc i have this goal of finishing this draft by my birthday in mid-May (although i don't think that's gonna happen at this rate...) so i don't think i'll be talking too much about my other wips here until then. but i'm definitely still playing with them every once in a while lol

uhh not much else to say as far as general writing comments go. have some reading comments: Hell Bent was good but felt a bit messier than the first book imo, 4 stars. Artificial condition absolutely fucked, 5 stars. and i'm not very far in A Rival Most Vial but i love love love it so far.

so yes this draft is coming along nicely.

right now i'm in the weird bit between the drama of the midpoint and the drama of the climax where things sort of slow down a bit... i'm trying to figure out if i need to add stuff to keep it from dragging but i'm stumped as to what.

i can't tell at what point i need to fix things now or leave things for Future Me. like i can't avoid my problems forever lmao i do have to become Future Me at some point...

there's also a few bits where i don't know if it's actually bad and needs to be fixed or if i'm just overthinking things lol. i've already bothered my rubber duckie (you know who you are <3) too many times for things that i thought were problems that in the end only needed the simplest of solutions... so maybe i need to just leave it be and see what my beta readers think?

speaking of betas... i'm a little *insert gif of me vibrating at the speed of sound* at the thought of people actually Reading My Writing... it feels like that might be happening soon... but i'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself 😅

i can never remember what i've posted for AR yet and what i haven't but i did change this scene a bit from the first draft. so without further ado, have some Azami being badass and standing up to a space pirate who had kidnapped her. warnings for weapons i guess, lmk if there's anything else i should warn for

With a smirk, Song let go of Azami’s wrist, and that was there he made the grave mistake of turning his back to her.

Petra caught Azami’s eyes flick down to his belt a split second before she pounced. Hands still tied, she gripped the handle of his plasma wand, yanked it out of its holster, and jabbed it at the back of Song’s head.

“Answer the question, asshole!” she shrieked.

Song stopped walking, but didn’t flinch. His smirk merely widened as he slowly turned around to face her. “Do you even know how to use that, sweetheart?”

Azami pointed the wand between his legs and squeezed a button. A flash of light filled the room as a blue laser shot out of the rusty handle. It flew just shy of Song’s crotch, singeing the fabric of his pants, before hitting the floor with a loud crack and a flurry of sparks. Petra yelped and jumped back. Song sucked in a sharp breath, finally dropping his cool demeanour.

“That was a warning. I’ll blast your balls clean off next time,” Azami promised, aiming the wand a bit higher.

I WATCHED BRAHMASTRA LOL

Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva is a 2022 Hindi fantasy action-adventure movie that released on September 9, directed and written by Ayan Mukerji (the guy who also gave us Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani). It's the first in a planned trilogy of movies, following this guy named Shiva who finds out he has cool fire powers and he has to prevent this thing called the Brahmastra which is the strongest Astra (they're weapons in Hindu mythology) from falling into the villains' hands

THE GOOD

The movie has like really cool, high stakes (does that make sense?) action sequences

The CGI is REALLY good and it definitely shows how our film industry has grown when it comes to visual effects (no thanks to Adipurush, I'm sure you all have seen the teaser for that, but that's a story for another day). Also enhances the fight scenes. It's a great visual experience

The music is really good. Dance ka bhoot was such a fun song, Kesariya is still nice and sweet (I know love storiyaan exists okay but tbh I dont even care anymore. Rasiya was a pleasant surprise (best song in the album, change my mind) and Shiva's theme goes HARD

I liked the focus on the astras, the character backstories and the world whenever we got them and I want more

Mouni Roy do I need to say more

Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan do I also need to say more

Ranbir Kapoor was satisfactory 👍

THE BAD

The love story. It was way too rushed. There is no chemistry between Isha and Shiva. These fools just declare that they love each other days after meeting each other-? THEY DONT EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER THAT WELL THEY BARELY HAVE ANY MEANINGFUL INTERACTIONS

Isha's character could've been cut from the movie and there wouldn't be any change. (New drinking game: take a shot everytime Isha screams "SHIVAAA!!!")

The dialogues can be pretty cringy and juvenile, and it really grated on me. My favourite one is probably "Light uss roshni ka naam hai-" behenchod light IS roshni what crack are you on

Sort of related to the previous point: can be a bit spoonfeedy and unnecessarily exposition heavy at times ;-;

VERDICT:

I give this movie 3.25 out of 5 stars. It certainly has a lot of potential and I really hope that the director takes all the criticisms and works on the weaker parts of the movie to make the second part better than this (that build up btw? We need to talk about that). I would be lying if I said that I didn't have an enjoyable experience watching this. It's a great attempt with okay execution, so while I wouldn't necessarily hold you at gunpoint to go and watch it (although our film industry needs to continue taking risks like this so-) I wouldn't dissuade you from watching it either

Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva is an enjoyable, entertaining yet flawed story with so much potential, and I have hope that the sequels will live up to it
