me and my (also trans) brother have been coming up with plans for us both move to together to another (bigger, far away) city next year for college, since our parents really want us to go to college, and my mom seemed fine with the plan as long as we could get in to study. and god. i wish i could have someone to pray to because just thinking about it. both me and my brother escaping our stupid parents, this stupid town, living together and helping each other, us both already out to each other. i don't even know what college id go to or what i want to study or where the hell are we going i just want it to happen so, so bad. i have no idea how doable that is but i want to transition so so much. i want to step foot in our new apartment after we move and immediately get my first T shot. god i just want to change my life. i want to change it so much it makes me sick

Women Do Not Have Authority Over Men
1 Timothy 2:9-15
[9]In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
[10]But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
[11]Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
[12]But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
[13]For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
[14]And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
[15]Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Because of the sins of Eve being the first to eat the forbidden fruit, women are to be silent, shamefaced, and in submission of men, who God created first.
God wants us to be beautiful in other ways, ladies, so don't try to be as men and take authority where it was not given to you. Yes, we live in times where men don't do their part, but that doesn't exempt women from doing their's. Men have their own instructions, let women heed God's instructions for them as well.

A few months ago, an article by Just Like Us about a survey of young UK adults regarding LGBT topics (and other articles on The Pink News and Gay Times UK that reported on that article) did the rounds on here.
The headline of the Gay Times article, written by Amy Ashenden (a cisgender butch lesbian and the interim CEO of Just Like Us, who hired the consultancy that conducted the survey) was "Lesbians being anti-trans is a lesbophobic trope"; of the results of the survey, she writes "I’m so glad that we finally have the research to demonstrate what most lesbians already knew: this narrative is completely false."
A lot of this initial reporting focused on the claims that "most anti-trans adults don’t know a trans person in real life" and "lesbians are the most supportive of trans people of any identity group, and it's a lesbophobic trope that they are anti-trans." These articles were written before the full report of the survey's data had been released.
The full report that these claims are based on is now out, for anyone who wants to take a closer look at the results for themselves. The pdf appears to be OCR readable but not image-described. The survey deals with many topics including being "out" and "feeling supported" at school and at work, but I'll just try to break down the evidence for the above-mentioned two claims.
How respondents were selected:
Just Like Us's report says that "Participants were drawn in partnership between Just Like Us and from Cibyl’s independent database of UK students and young adults" (p. 69). Cibyl offers "bespoke studies and focus groups," and says that "Using our Cibyl-ings student panel, we can source specific students to look at themes and topics important to you and ask the unique questions you want the answers to." This is rather vague.
Sample group and size:
3,695 young adults aged between 18 and 25. 86% cisgender and 12% transgender; 47% LGBT and 53% non-LGBT (used as a control group to compare LGBT responses to); 72% white; 79% students; 54% "female" (self-declared), 36% "male", 8% non-binary (pp. 69-70).
Support for the articles' central claims:
There is no full breakdown of the data resulting from the survey that would allow anyone else to do their own statistical analysis. Here's (what Just Like Us gives of) the data that the "most anti-trans people don't know a trans person in real life" claim is based on:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Headline reading "Attitudes towards transgender people. Question reading "How supportive are you of transgender people? Of people who "know a transgender person," 64% said "very supportive"; "supportive" 23%; "slightly supportive" 10%; "not supportive" 3%. Of those who "don't know a transgender person," 33% said "very supportive"; "supportive" 28%; "slightly supportive" 20%; "not supportive" 18%. Second question "Do you know any transgender people?" Result: 28% "Yes, someone I'm close to"; 38% "Yes, someone I'm not close to"; 34% "I don't know any transgender people." Further breakdown of the question "Do you know a transgender person?": 49% of "non-LGBT+" people said "yes"; 84% of LGBT+ people; 94% of non-binary people; 93% of transgender people; 82% of asexual people; 85% of bi/pan people; 80% of gay men; 92% of lesbians; 75% of questioning people. End ID]
The "do you know any transgender people" question is worded slightly differently each time—plus, the Just Like Us article and the report (p. 8) adduce the phrase "in real life" to "know a trans person," but this page doesn't—so I don't think we're getting the exact wording for that question that the survey respondents saw. The data for "how supportive are you of transgender people" isn't broken down according to whether the respondent said they were "close" or "not close" to the transgender person or people they knew; it also doesn't seem to be broken down into trans or nonbinary versus cisgender respondents.
"How supportive are you of transgender people?" was the only question dealing with this issue, and the responses "very supportive," "supportive," "slightly supportive," and "not supportive" were the only options available; there's nothing breaking down what "support" means in terms of policy (e.g. support versus non-support for consent-based clinics, national funding for transition care, non-discrimination laws, bathroom laws, &c. &c.). There is also no distinction made between "support" for trans women and trans men.
The claim "UK adults between the ages of 18 and 25 who answer 'not supportive' to the question 'How supportive are you of transgender people?' are several times more likely to also answer 'no' to the question 'do you know a transgender person' (or maybe 'do you know a transgender person in real life')" is supported, in my opinion. The sample size is large enough for that 3% to not be random noise.
The analysis in the Just Like Us article groups together "very supportive" and "supportive" when providing percentages of respondents of given identities who support trans people:
Of all LGBT+ identities, other than trans and non-binary people themselves, lesbian young adults were most likely to say they know a trans person (92%), and most likely to say they are “supportive” or “very supportive” of trans people (96%). In comparison, 89% of LGBT+ people overall said they were  “supportive” or “very supportive” of trans people, and just 69% of non-LGBT+ people said the same.
There is no full breakdown of how many people are "very supportive," "supportive," "slightly supportive" or "not supportive" of trans people by identity label. The relevant data is on p. 63 of the report:
"Looking at who was the most supportive of transgender people:
non-binary respondents were 97% supportive or very supportive with 1% of respondents indicating they were not supportive;
lesbian respondents were 95% supportive or very supportive [everywhere else in the report and in the reporting says 96%, so perhaps this is a typo] (3% were not supportive);
bi/pansexual respondents were 92% supportive or very supportive (2% were not supportive).
Of respondents who were gay men, 82% were supportive or very supportive of transgender people, with 7% indicating they were not supportive.
Among non-LGBT+ respondents 69% were supportive of transgender people, with 12% indicating they were not supportive."
It's not clear to me how they dealt with e.g. lesbians who were also transgender. Pages 69-70 of the report go into the questions that people were asked to identify their identity label for the purposes of statistical analysis ("Is your gender identity the same as the one you were originally assigned at birth?"; and "What is your sexual orientation?"). The fact that these are separate questions (as they should be) tells me that there's overlap between groups throughout the study; any data that says e.g. "83% of lesbian respondents" is combining cis and trans lesbians, and any result that says "67% of trans people" is combining heterosexual and LGB trans people.
So, while narrowing the respondents down to just cisgender LGB people to compare their support for trans people would have been one way to analyse the data, I'm guessing they didn't do that (plus, there's the article's wording of "LGBT+ people overall"; it wouldn't make statistics-analytical sense to compare cis lesbians with all LGBT+ people, plus it would presumably make the higher support % of lesbians less stark, which seems like the opposite of what Ashenden wanted to do).
When the article says "other than trans and non-binary people themselves," they don't mean that they excluded trans and non-binary people from the percentages given; they mean "other than the number you get if you measure support for transgender people just from trans and non-binary people." We're not given the number that would result from doing this. The number we're given in the report for non-binary people is 97% supportive (this number is not included in the article); we are not given a number for just trans people, but we can probably assume it also approaches 100%.
This means that the 96% support presumably measures support from cis and trans lesbians; the 82% of "supportive" and "very supportive" gay men includes cis and trans men; &c.
There is a major statistics-analytical problem with acknowledging that trans and non-binary respondents have the highest rates of support for trans people, but then not controlling the results of this question for whether the respondent was cis or trans. If a higher percentage of lesbian respondents were trans than the percentage of gay men respondents that were trans, this would itself skew the numbers for lesbian support higher. There's no reason to suppose that this did happen, but there is not enough information given about the data that Just Like Us collected to rule it out. Again, at no point are we given information about overlap between LGB and trans groups or a breakdown of what that overlap looked like (how many trans respondents were heterosexual versus LGB, &c.).
As I mentioned above, some of the survey focused on whether respondents "felt supported" at home and at school. Some snippets on the results of these questions can be found on pages 45-49 of the report. "[M]ore than 1 in 4" LGBT+ respondents "felt unsupported" in school compared to "1 in 10" non-LGBT+ respondents; 37% of transgender respondents and 39% of nonbinary respondents said they felt unsupported in school. Despite the survey's focus on the outcomes of felt support, and despite all respondents being asked if they were "supportive" of transgender people, no question asked transgender respondents if they "felt supported" by cisgender LGB people.
Generalisability of claims:
The sampling of the data (which is drawn entirely from people in the UK aged 18-25, mostly students) also means that the claims are not generalisable to the entire UK population; you can't say the "majority of anti-trans adults don’t know a trans person in real life" (the headline of the Just Like Us article) or "Most anti-trans adults don’t actually know a trans person in real life" (the headline of the Pink News article), since the survey did not take a representative sample of all adults. You can't say "lesbians are not anti-trans" (the url of the Gay Times article), since the survey is not representative of all lesbians.
Funding sources:
The report was sponsored by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a firm offering professional services (accounting, auditing, consulting, financial advisory, litigation consulting, and other services offered to businesses).
Cibyl, an independent research firm in the UK, "led on research design and delivery, then worked in partnership with Just Like Us to produce the report." They include the report ("Positive Futures") as an example of their work on their website. Their summary of the study focuses on the claim that "support in LGBT+ young adults’ teenage years" is necessary to the future development of their careers, and on what "employers and careers professionals can do to help LGBT+ young people feel safe and supported." This is the same kind of thing that Deloitte talks about when it comes to LGBT+ issues (namely, inclusion versus exclusion and support versus non-support in the workplace).
A video that Asheden produced with Mags Scott (partner at Deloitte) also focuses on how "support" for LGBT+ people "at home, in school, and in the workplace" leads to confidence in "career prospects" and ability to be onself "at work," and is necessary for LGBT+ people's mental wellbeing.
Just Like Us has an interest in promoting research that suggests that support for LGBT+ people in school will benefit them in their careers, since they sell training resources on forming LGBT+ groups, and talks with LGBT+ speakers, to schools. Just Like Us is a non-profit organisation.
Declaration of conflicts of interest and peer review:
This is an industry-sponsored study and not an academic one. There is no declaration of conflicts of interest required, and the study was not peer-reviewed.
Tl;dr:
Some breakdown of data was revealed in the report. The exact questions that respondents saw were not given. The data is not given with enough granularity to allow for anyone else to conduct statistical analysis based on it.
There is not enough evidence to say whether the study supports the claim that (cis?) lesbians are more supportive of trans people than any other identity group, since the survey was not clear what "support" means (someone may claim to support trans people as individuals while not supporting transition care, for example, due to some kind of "love the sinner, hate the sin" logic).
There is also a statistical problem with the support for this claim, since overlap between "transgender" and "cisgender" respondents is not controlled for. There is not enough data given in the report to allow anyone else to control for this factor. The results would hold if we assumed that similar percentages of e.g. lesbian, bisexual, and gay male respondents were transgender.
The results apply only to people in the UK aged 18-25 and cannot be generalised to all adults in the UK.
Summaries of this report given by the firms that funded and conducted it centre on the idea that "support" of LGBT+ people at home, at school, and in the workplace is necessary to allow them to thrive in the workplace. Just Like Us, who put out the report, sell LGBT+ talks and training to schools.

Talking Stage
Hi Tumblr! It's nice going back here. It's been a long time. Daming ganap and stress and all. Biggest painful and heartache was my dad's gone. He passed away due to many complications and I saw everything, my family and I have been through a lot. And I was really tired and feeling down but still acting up as a strong independent woman because I have no really choice. HAHAHAHAH.
Ayun, been crying and sad for days, trying to distract myself thru ML, watching movies and series, I tried Bumble. I was shocked maraming naglalike. Me being the ugly duckling. And I talked to different people, but there's this 20 yr-old bb boi na nakausap ko. And dahil siguro ambait nya. Kaya nituloy ko lang syang ichat sa IG. He had a problem - lovelife, family and his studies. And it turned out he's just 18. :( Ang lala. Kasi 12 years gap namin.
Nung una kasi panay view nya sa stories ko, and gising pa sya ng madaling araw. HAHAHAH. And I was starting to get worried sa kanya. Ayun. Hanggang sa nasabi nyang may problem sya, and I offer if gusto nya bigyan ko sya ng part-time. And he agreed later on. And I also lent him money for his enrolment sa OLFU as first year college. And I think that's the start of Sugar Mommy Era ko. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Lord naman ee.
Pero ayun nga, me being so drawn into a person who needs help - Marlon, Patrick, Edwin, EJ, Renan, Kervin and there this bb boi. I literally helped him, gave him gifts. And here I am still supporting him. And malapit na kami sa isa't isa. :( First boy na katalking stage ko. First na nagtiwala sakin and he still sends goodmorning and goodnight chatsand mwaaas. HAHAHAHA. We had deep talks already. And I don't even know what to feel. The fact na he's so young, I know na he can change his mind anytime. Just like what he said na if ever tataya sya ulit sa love, he will choose me kasi sakin lang sya unang nagtrust at naging comfortable. But I know it was maybe his first time to have someone like me.
I am happy talking to him. I am happy how he sends updates on me. And I feel sad everytime he took a longer time to reply. And ang mga ex ng bb boi, hang gaganda. For sure chix din talaga gusto nya. Haiys. Ang hirap, di na nga ko maganda, mas sobrang tanda pa sa kanya. Di naman din sya kagwapuhan, but he's a good person. I know that. Lahat naman ng nagustuhan ko mabait. HAHAHAH. Saka he's still friend with his ex. Sinasabi nya na di na nya mahal, pero for sure may feelings pa sya. He still cares for her. Anong laban ko don, maganda na yun, kasing age nya pa, tas kalapit bahay lang nya. HAHAHAH.
And we have plans, sya nag aya. Magpupunta sa horror house. HAHAHAH yung totoo? Unang date sa horror house? HAHAHAHAH looking forward to it. But I don't know what to do anymore. I want to help him 'til the end, but I am afraid na mawala ko na naman yung sarili ko. And gusto ko na ba sya? Gusto na ba nya ko? Baka we're just filling up this void in our hearts temporarily, kasi pareho kaming may pinagdadaanan. Dko din alam if gusto ko na sya at baka namimiss ko lang na may taong kinecare, and this is the first time na nagcare din sakin yung tao kahit pano. HAHAHAH. Si Kapre naman din, kaso kasi pasulpot sulpot yun. And this bb boi naman, minsan ganun din, but he's being consistent kahit pano. Tho lagi ko syang inaasar sa iba and he asked one time but ko sya laging pinupush magkajowa, gusto ko na daw ba sya mawala sa buhay ko. HAHAHAHAH Very cutie. Kinikilig ako minsan, but naiisip ko, pano nga kung maging kami? First bf ko sya tas sobrang bata.
That same day, shinare nya yung about don, nagcall pa kami. HAHAHAHAH Hangkulit lang ng timing. Na parang naramdaman nya na nagdaramdam ako. HAHAHAHHAH. Tas dun nya nga nasabi na if ever magmahal sya ult, ako daw pipiliin nya. AHAHAHAHAH TALAGA BA BB BOI?
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIYS. Tanda ko na Lord para sa ganito. HAHAHAH Ganito nalang ba talaga role ko? ANg mag alaga ng mga kailangan ng kalinga? Pano naman ako? HAHAHAHAH. LOL.
Miss you tumblr. SALAMAT ANDYAN KA. Iniisip ko na magsend ng confession sa FEU Secret Files ee. HAHAHAHHAHA. lol.
Byeers!! Sa susunod ulit.

The NRC students: *are visibly confused as to why there's a kid in the Orientation*
Kid MC: *wearing a smaller version of the ceremonial robe*
Kid MC: Dad?
Malleus: Yes? *carrying them in his arms*
Kid MC: These feel like my pajamas.
Malleus: Do you feel cozy in it?
Kid MC: *nods* I don't think I can study while wearing this.
Malleus: *chuckles* Don't worry. There's another uniform you're going to use. The ceremonial robes are only for formal events.
Lilia: Malleus, it's time for MC to know which dorm they're going to be in.
Malleus: Would that be necessary? I'm sure they'll be in Diasomnia.
Lilia: Malleus, we still need to follow the protocol.
Malleus: *sigh* Fine.
Vil: Is there a reason why we have a literal kid here in Night Raven College?
Rook: I heard they're Roi du Dragon's adopted child.
Vil: Ah...
Kalim: Jamil! Jamil! Do you think they will be in our dorm?
Jamil: I doubt that.
Cater: Aww~. Look at them, Trey. Do you think they're going to be in Heartslabyul?
Trey: I don't mind having a kid over. Right, Riddle?
Riddle: *examining them* Hm. Yes.
The Dark Mirror: Please state your name.
Kid MC: MC Draconia!
Malleus: *smiles*
The Dark Mirror: The nature of your soul is...
Malleus: Diasomni—
The Dark Mirror: Pomefiore.
Vil: What?
Rook: *clapping*
Malleus: ...
Kid MC: Dad? My dorm is Pomefiore!
Malleus: ...
Malleus: No, it's Diasomnia. That was just a mistake. *about to leave the venue*
Vil: I'm not all enthusiastic about this. Rook, get our student.
Rook: Oui!
Sebek: Don't be sad, Waka-sama!
Malleus: I'm not sure if I can do that, Sebek.
Lilia: *chuckles* Oh, Malleus. Why are you acting like your child is never independent?
Lilia: They're going to be fine.
Silver: I agree with father. And Mr. Vil Schoenheit reassured you that he will take care of them.
Malleus: I don't need a stranger taking care of my child, Silver.
Silver: ...
Silver: MC will start their first class in a few hours. Would you like to check on them?
Professor Trein: Is everything clear?
Kid MC: *raises their hand* Professor!
Professor Trein: Yes?
Kid MC: Can I borrow this book? I didn't get to finish reading pages 206-209.
Professor Trein: Sure. But don't forget to do your homework. *giving them a chocolate bar*
Kid MC: Thank you, Professor!
Professor Trein: Now run along.
The other students: That's unfair, Professor! Why do they get to be dismissed early?!
Professor Trein: *frowns at them* Kids don't have long attention lifespan. And I don't want them to get bored in my history class.
Ace: *hides under his desk* Wow! You're playing favorites, Professor!
Professor Trein: Who said that?
Epel: How's your class, MC?
Kid MC: I got a chocolate bar!
Vil: Uh-huh. And what do we do with sweets?
Kid MC: I eat them.
Vil: ...
Epel: *laughs*
Vil: *sigh* Epel, just make sure this child brush their teeth later. Especially before sleeping.
Epel: Yes, sir.
Sebek: LITTLE HUMAN!!!
Silver: You don't have to shout, Sebek.
Malleus: *smiles* MC.
Kid MC: Dad! *runs to him*
Malleus: I've been looking for you everywhere.
Kid MC: My classes finish early than the others!
Malleus: Oh?
Vil: Yes. The headmage and all the teachers made an arrangement where they're going to have four hours of classes everyday.
Vil: You're free to take them to your dorm after they're done with school work, but you have to bring them back to Pomefiore before bedtime.
Malleus: Can't they just sleep in my dorm?
Vil: No. I'm their housewarden.
Epel: Don't worry, Mr. Malleus, sir. I'm sharing a room with them.
Kid MC: Hm! Epel is the manliest guy in Pomefiore! He can fight bad guys with his bare fists!
Epel: Hehe, you flatter m—Eek!
Malleus: Oho...? He could?
Silver: Malleus... It's not the place to be jealous...
Sebek: LITTLE HUMAN!!! DON'T FORGET THAT WE'RE ALL LOYAL TO WAKA-SAMA!!!
Kid MC: Yeah! You don't have to tell me, Sir Sebek!
Vil: MC, have you forgotten about acting all dainty?
Kid MC: *pouts*
Kid MC: But it's too late for me to do that now!
Vil: Do it.
Kid MC: *pouts again*
Kid MC: *looks at Malleus*
Kid MC: Dad~? Do you think I look stupidly cute today? *blink* *blink*
Vil: *facepalm*
Malleus: You're the most adorable child I've ever seen. *chuckles*

masterlist next
word count: 2.5k
warnings: alcohol, partying, creeper in a store, bestie jay, already stepping up to be a fake bf jake duhhh
a/n: short and sweet intro
"HEY SORRY, JAY's busy—”
"Hey baby!" You smile brightly, attempting to seem causal but emphasizing the conversation rather loudly. Wandering through the isles aimlessly, stopping to pretend to browse the selection of cereals while peeking through the corner of your eye, you keep watch on the unfamiliar man that seemed to be following you.
You've been at the store for 15 minutes, around 10 of those ago you noticed the same man over and over, passing by each other with first polite smiles which morphed into a sort of anxiety feeling on your end noting how he began to linger around more obviously, far enough away to not seem suspicious to those around but definitely setting off an alarm in your head to stay alert.
It was a Friday night, after finishing up with your last minute shift due to a coworker calling out, you decided it was time to finally grocery shop, something that you've been putting off all week due to laziness but now you wished you opted to eat eggs for the third day in a row rather than be here. Typically, you and Yunjin went to the store together, but with her out on a date, that left you alone for the night.
"We're still cooking for dinner right? I'm at the store right now picking stuff up," You continue after meeting confused silence on the other end. Due to the increasing gut feeling and you desperate for someone to come to your aid in at least knowing where you were if you did end up missing and on the news, you called the only person you knew in the area that would come. Jay Park, an extended family friend that you practically grew up attached to each others hips, had followed you along to the same Uni two years ago. With a three hour car ride being the distance to your home town, you and Jay depended on each other as a sort of familiarity and unspoken acknowledgment that there was support for one another.
University created a sort of distance in your relationship, both studying different majors and finding your own friend groups outside of one another but you still talked every other day through text and hung out occasionally. Jay, being a well know frat boy around campus, became a sort of gossip topic of him and his other frat members. His admittedly attractive looks that he grew into helping with his popularity along with his love for the party scene.
You on the other hand, were a home body more than anything. After your first year, you had moved into an apartment about 5 minutes away off-campus with your previous dorm-mate and newly founded best friend. You and Yunjin became close relatively fast and being able to get through freshmen year living together in the tiny space meant you'd work perfectly well moving in a place where you both got your own rooms and a private bathroom.
Thus, your routine consisted of lectures, homework, your part-time job, and sleep. It was quiet and comfortable. Not that you were opposed to a night out and getting drunk off your ass every once in a while but being a party girl didn't seem like your cup of tea to do every weekend.
"Sorry, ___ it's Jake. I don't know where Jay is, he just left his phone with me earlier," Jake speaks into the phone, making his way out of the booming house to better hear her. The muffled music and loud voices heard from his end causing a slight panic to rise in your stomach but also nearly face palm. It's a Friday night, of course he was partying.
You rake your brain to put a face to the name. You've met Jay's frat friends on occasion, though they mostly consisted of when you were all drunk so it was sort of a blur.
"Yeah I'm at Target," You nod, specifying your location and hoping that whoever Jake was, he was sober enough to comprehend that something was wrong and that he'd remember your words. "Do you want anything else specifically?" From the corner of your eye, you can see the man beginning to pace, seemingly growing antsy with waiting on you to move. Deciding it was best to make your way toward the front where more workers would be, you completely disregard your near empty cart and pushed it along while holding your phone to your ear.
"... Are you okay?" Jake inquires, his brows burrowed together in confusion but feeling the underlying feeling of the call. The only reason he answered was because he knew you and Jay were close, having met less than a handful of times but the contact picture Jay saved you under allowed him to remember who you were. The three spammed messages you sent prior to your call being unable to be read due to his phone being locked. He intended to only inform you of the reason the said boy wouldn't respond for a while but it ended up to this rather weird conversation.
"Uh... no I don't think so," You answer, acting as if you were responding to a question. Jake straightens up slightly, unaware if that was an actual answer or if you were still on the one sided random talk through the phone. He sort of hoped it was the second option for your sake. "Okay I'll look. I'm sure they have pineapple,"
Jay was an overprotective guy, especially when it came to those he cared about. Early on, whenever they'd go out, he told everyone that their emergency code word was pineapple. Jake, along with the other boys, found it utterly ridiculous and never once had to actually use it but he did remember the word loud and clear even months later. The conversation was far too random and specific for you to just casually be saying that, and thus Jake assumed the safe word was something Jay used universally.
"You're at the store in town right?" He asks, now heading back into the house, weaving his way through the bodies in search of his friends.
"Yeah," You nod disregarding that he couldn't see it. There was two Targets in the area you lived it, though one was undeniably farther away from the University. In town referred to the one you stood in, absentmindedly staring at the electronics assuming there had to be more cameras in this area. "Okay, well, I'll be home soon then,"
"Give me ten minutes," Jake said into the phone before handing up the call, not giving you time to respond. Scrunching up your nose, you felt significantly smaller without the comfort of another voice on the other line. From the opposite isle, you could see the man lingering around the corner, now staring directly at you but quickly looking away upon making eye contact.
With a slight pit in your stomach, you take a second to breathe. Attempting to seem inconspicuous, you glance over your items and visibly pale. The only things consisted of body wash, a bag of lemons, and ice cream bars that were now melting. You had circled the food department a near three times and hadn't picked up much even though you made it rather clear on the call you were meant to be getting dinner. Silently praying that the man wasn't keen enough to pay that much attention, you shake off the shiver that ran down your spine.
Meanwhile, Jake ran through the house collecting his friends one by one. Luckily, with it being only 7:30 and rather early in the night, no one was near hammered yet, barely started on a buzz when he interrupted. Not much was shared in the process, the urgent way Jake pulled them along was enough for them to follow but Heeseung finally questioned it once they were packed in the car driving away from their own party.
"Where we going man?" The eldest asked, running a hand through his hair lazily.
Jake, being the only one with less than half a bottle of beer in, was in the driver seat. He drove fast, weaving through the lanes occasionally but still safe enough to not seem suspicious.
He glanced back at Jay through the rearview mirror, said boy tilting his head back in confusion. "___ called you, she's having an issue. Said something about pineapple and wasn't having an actual conversation with me so I'm assuming someone was following her,"
Jay straightened up, leaning closer from his seat while the other two spared glances. "When?"
"Right before I went to find you, told her to give me 10 minutes," Jake answers, partially relieved that Jay seemed concerned by the matter meaning he interpreted the call correctly but that only meant you were actually in trouble. "It's been 6,"
"Drive faster," Was all the other boy said, the few shots of liquor seemingly gone as he sobered up almost instantly. Though, the panic and overwhelming anger that brewed in the back of his head indicated that he was being influenced by the intoxication. Not that it would be a problem, especially if you were in danger of some sort.
Heeseung and Sunghoon sat quietly as Jake drove, connecting the dots for themselves due to the conversation. A minute later, the four were barreling out of the car and into the building. The bright lights contrasted against the dark outside, the boys looking around for sight of the girl.
"Give me my phone," Jay tells Jake, holding out his hand expectantly while he pulls it out of his back pocket. Tapping through the screen for a moment, Jay hold up the device to his ear waiting for you to answer but it goes to voicemail.
"She was talking about food so maybe she was over there?" Jake offers, leading the way toward the back of the store which held all the groceries.
Jay tries once more, holding the phone up as it dials. This time, there's the faint chime of an incoming call that was further away. Sunghoon nodded in the direction it came from, heading toward the area which consisted of books, music, and other miscellaneous things.
"No, thank you, I'm alright," Your voice was recognized first by Jay. Speeding up his steps, he rounds the corner to see you backed away toward the far end of the isle, the cart in between you and an unfamiliar man who had his back toward the four. Your eyes widened seeing the familiar face, slightly relieved but still in a sense of panic considering the man that was following you grew the courage a minute ago to actually say something now, keeping you tucked away in the corner as he did.
Attempting to step away, you shift to the right but the man matched your movement, staying directly in your path and blocking it. Moving to your left, he matched that as well causing you to purse your lips. He smiled, seeming as if it were amusing to see you becoming undone with his actions which sent a chill up your spine. Aside from his creepy stalking, he seemed and looked like a regular guy, which made it even worse because of how normal he seemed upon first glance.
"Teenie," Jay spoke up, making his and the rest of their presence known, using a nickname rather than your actual one. The guy turned at the sound, his face morphing from the smile into one of annoyance, a  clear grimace on his features at the interruption. "Come here," The space between where you stood and Jay was a couple of feet, having to go around the man in the process as he had backed you into the wall moments ago.
Expecting for him to allow you to move without resistance this time, you go to step around him but he still continues to block your way. Going as far as grabbing hold of your arm causing your eyes to widen and pull back instantly. The anxiety that grew in your stomach elevated significantly, it was wishful thinking that having four grown and tall men would have the single one back down but it seemed he was crazy enough to not care about that.
"Stop being a fucking creep dude," Heeseung spoke up, growing rather frustrated and particularly peeved that he had the audacity to grab you. If they hadn't shown up he couldn't imagine what he'd attempt.
"We're not done talking," The man sneers, the tone of his voice causing the hairs on your neck to stand up, goosebumps forming along your skin though your body felt like it was burning up inside. "You the boyfriend?" He adds, nodding toward Jay who faltered, confused by the sudden question.
Jake lets out a small sigh, growing tired of the back and forth. Stepping forward, he holds out his hand to you without a word. Now a mere foot apart, he stares down the guy, almost taunting him in attempt to do something. Quickly, your hand latches onto his, albeit clammy from your nervousness but as he pulled you into his side, you felt significantly safer than before.
Tucking you behind him, Jake walks you both back a few steps, returning to the rest who had moved up closer. Still holding tight onto Jake's hand, you grasp onto his arm as well, holding it as if it were a security blanket and would make everything better.
"I am," Jake answers, taking the rest of you by surprise. His fib was believable, you clinging to his side playing the part and the boys merely went along with it. "We done here?"
The man didn't say a word, the silent stare down that occurred between Jake and him more than enough. Finally, he looked away, accepting there wasn't anything he could do to win in this. Whatever that was. Turning around, Jake began to lead you away, not bothering to look back as the other three followed behind, ensuring he stayed in place as they went.
You let out a shakey sigh, deeming it far enough away as you could see the exit. Feeling the ever-growing tears weld in your eyes, a few began to slip from the corners painting soft streaks down the apples of your cheeks. Silently, Jake allowed for Jay to pull you into his embrace, presuming having the one you were closest with to comfort you would be best.
A quiet sob slipped past your lips upon being wrapped into his arms. Jay let out a small shush, one of his hands rubbing small circles with his thumb against your back, visibly upset by how affected you were as he tucked his head down toward your ear, whispering words of reassurance that everything was okay and nothing would happen.
Heeseung tapped Jake's shoulder, nodding him along to give the two of you a minimal amount of space but also linger close enough in case the crazed man decided to have second thoughts and come back. Meanwhile, Sunghoon had made his way over to one of the cashiers, explaining the situation and how the female staff should be cautious until security had eyes on the man.
Jake glanced over as Jay had pulled back from the hug, his hands on either side of your face as he wiped away the tears that kept falling from your eyes. His heart tugged at the sight of you, looking utterly disheartened with a slightly red nose and your mascara beginning to smudge.
He's glad he answered.

"Let me help you forget" Theodore Nott X Reader PT. 6
Tumblr media
Part 6 already, loves! Look how far we've come. It's been a little while, but I'm finally free to take all the time I need for these two idiots. For new readers: this part can be read independently, but I highly suggest you get all the tea from the parts before. Enjoy my little rascals<3
There was a comfortable weight on you. The gentle sound of birds chirping and warm sunlight streaming into your room. Way too much sunlight given the time it should be. You smiled softly at the comfort of being woken up so gently, when... Shit. There was no way your room should be bathed in sunlight at 6am on an early spring day, you were used to waking up in the dim morning fog surrounding Hogwarts. You had overslept! Jerking up, you saw an arm slung over your waist, tracing it back to Theo's sleeping form. Merlin have mercy. The events of last night came crashing down on you all at once.
The boy who had saved your life and nursed you to sleep, holding you until your fears melted away like your tears had. How he slept so peacefully next to you now, not even letting go of you in his unconscious state. His soft breaths were fanning the rogue strands of hair that framed his godsent face and you wondered how you had ever woken up without him by your side. He stirred softly as you adjusted yourself to get a better look at him, trying to assure yourself that this was real and not in fact a trick of your mind, one of your torturous dreams.
"Are you watching me sleep, pretty girl?" His husky morning voice snapped you back into reality as he lazily smiled, not ready to open his eyes and move just yet. Busted. You scrambled, trying to change the topic. "Theo, we're late to class." This did indeed get him to open his sleepy eyes, groaning slightly as he moved up. Immediately, you missed his weight on you. "Like how late?" Good question. Fearing the number on the dial, you checked the time. Shit again. "Uh...so we missed first period. And second is starting in...7 minutes. Ugh, shit! This can't be, I set my alarm!"
A soft chuckle of his met your ears as he leaned back into the comfort of your bed, pulling you with him gently. He wrapped his arms around you again and let out a deep sigh, as if you had all the time in the world for this. You almost forgot the urgency of your problem at the now familiar feeling of his warm embrace. But alas, you took school very seriously, unlike the boy risking detention just to snuggle up to you a bit longer. "Theo, what in Merlin's beard are you doing? I just said we're late!"
Another chuckle. "It's okay, Y/n. We're not going to make it anyway. Let's just go to third class and stay here for a little while..." Without you having even agreed yet, he pulled your thigh up to rest on his lower stomach and nuzzled his face into your hair with another sleepy sigh. You swore in that moment that he could feel the heat that just shot through you, like a fire threating to swallow you whole. But you remained stubborn. "I'm going to class, we'll already have McGonagall on our back for missing first period. Oh, and you're coming with me."
He groaned, the boy didn't think he'd physically be able to leave the comfort of the little haven you'd created for yourselves. But you were right. And seeing how serious you were about your studies, your little straight A student attitude did things to him. So, he obeyed and got up with minimal backtalk as you ushered him. From then on, it was all panic and frenzy. Well, for you. Theo just ran a hand through his disgustingly perfect hair and raided your vanity cabinet for some mouthwash as you scrambled for your uniform. He watched you in amusement as you slipped your tights on carefully, earning him a pillow in the face. "Turn around, perv!"
And when you were done, you slung your book bag over your arm and grabbed his hand, almost yanking the poor boy out of the room. "1 minute Theo, hurry! Snape is going to use us as a live example for a deadly spell in front of the whole class!" Oh, how he adored you. No other girl would be pulling him through the halls of Hogwarts at 8:59 in the morning in a half sprint, having him crying laughing. Oh, how he drove you crazy. No other boy would be laughing at the terror you'd experience for being late to Snape's class.
The trek was long and you steadied your breath, bracing yourself as you stood in front of the classroom door. "Hey." Theo started. You didn't pay him much mind, busy with trying to muster up a solid excuse for being late. "Y/n..." When you still didn't snap out if it, he moved forward grinning, as he placed a cheeky kiss on the lips he didn't get nearly enough of yet. That did the job. You whipped your head up to look at him, wide-eyed. He just huffed out a humoured laugh and placed a hand on the small of your back as he opened the door with all of the confidence in the world, guiding you in.
Class was in full swing and all eyes darted to you immediately. Some in pity, knowing that you were going to get scolded by Snape in a second. But most in complete and utter shock at the sight before them. There they stood, Y/l/n and Nott, the infamous, maniacal school rivals had just stumbled into the classroom together coincidentally, late and both equally as disheveled looking. Only know were you suddenly conscious of how loosely your crooked tie hung around your neck and how Theo's shirt hung halfway open, exposing part of his chest. You knew what the others must've been assuming. And you hated how deeply it excited you.
"You are late." Snape was on your ass fast. Missing no beat, Theo turned to him, his voice a whisper so only the three of you could hear. "Professor Snape. We're deeply sorry about this. Miss Y/l/n was viciously attacked last night on school grounds. And between us....She still seems deeply disturbed, which is why I've only now managed to get her to class. But I witnessed the entire situation. And I'd be happy to explain it to you, as long as she gets to sit down and rest. She doesn't need any more trouble." Goddamn he was good. Did he just come up with that on the spot? He knew you weren't "deeply disturbed" by anything but the fact that he'd kissed you and you'd nearly melted into a puddle in front of Snape's classroom door.
Eyeing you both suspiciously, Snape merely nodded and walked out of the room, a silent invitation for Theo to follow and plead your case. He turned his head and sent you a smirk before walking out. Without his cocky presence next to you, you quickly scrambled to your seat next to Pansy, trying to evade all kinds of curious stares. But hers seemed to be the worst of all. "Y/n." Oh, if looks could kill. "You have five words to explain why the fuck you're dropping in late with a half dressed Nott on your back."
You simply buried your face in your hands and prayed to whoever would listen to make you disappear out from under her stare. But she was relentless and with a sigh you spoke. Okay five words..."Uh...potions, lake...dementor...Theodore and...sleepover?" Her mouth flew open. But she completely ignored the mention of the dementor. "Sleepover?" She'd exclaimed, too loudly for your liking as you saw some girls that you knew were crushing on Theo whip their heads around at the word. "Pansy..." "Okay, okay, sorry! Turn back, you said Dementor? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, yes. Thanks to him." I sighed. The look on her face was almost comical, you'd never seen an individual so visibly bamboozled. Now suddenly the door swung open and Snape walked back in, followed by a very proud looking Theodore. He smirked at you as he breezed past you on his way to his seat and the room went silent as your eyes locked. Trying to flee the tension given the inappropriate surroundings you grabbed your water bottle, nearly choking on the large sip you took as Pansy took in your shared chemistry and blurted: "Merlin, Y/n! Did you fuck Nott?"
A snicker erupted from his spot in the classroom as you felt your cheeks growing a worrying shade of crimson. You turned to see Theodore, still smirking as he slapped away Mattheos hand that waited to be met with a high five. "Pansy! No, for heavens sake, please! Nothing happened, can we talk about this another time?" She didn't seem satisfied with this, not at all. But she simply gave you a playful eye roll and nodded. And when class finished, you made a quick excuse to scurry away as quickly as possible. You moved towards the door, until a large hand gently wrapped around your wrist.
You looked up to see Theo looking down at you from his unfair perfect height, that dangerous smirk still painted on his even more unfair perfect features. You had no chance against whatever it was he made you feel. He was a danger to all girls on this planet, like ever. His hands traveled up your body and came up to your neck, causing you to instinctively take in a sharp breath as you closed your eyes. But he merely fixed your crooked tie, grin growing larger. Damn him and how such a nonchalant, simple gesture sent your mind to unholy places. "Thanks." You muttered and left the classroom as panicked as you had entered it, leaving the wicked boy smiling as he took in the remnants of your perfume lingering in the air. How funny that today of all days, you had time to put it on. Maybe it had to do with the fact that he'd told you it drove him wild. Or maybe you were just toying with him.
Whatever it was, Theodore was going to figure you out. Every single inch of you. If it's the last thing he did.

Katara is More Patient Then We Give Her Credit for
Tumblr media
Katara has been getting a lot of flak for supposedly being hot headed and getting angry at very minor things. Even those who love Katara seem to accept this as the truth. But it's not. In reality, Katara is simply a female character who owns her rage. And I feel like there are two main components that debunk this notion.
Warning: Long, long post.
1. In the instances where Katara is angry it's either justified or makes sense in context.
The Waterbending Scroll
Katara stole, wouldn't you know it, a waterbending scroll. She practices before giving it to Aang, and fails hard. Then Aang who she's supposed to be teaching, gets it right and explains how to do it. Katara has an outburst.
Tumblr media
Katara: Will you please shut your air-hole! Believe it or not your infunite wisdom gets a little old sometimes. Why don't we just throw the scroll away since you're so naturally gifted!
Why is Katara that mad here? Why did she have an outburst? Because she was carrying the burden of being the last waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe her whole life. Because her waterbending is the reason Kya died. Because she have been independently studying waterbending her whole life. And now her student is having it all easy and is trying to teach her.
And wouldn't you know it, she realized what she did immediatly. Literally, a second later.
Tumblr media
Katara: Oh my gosh Aang. I am so sorry. I don't know what came over me. But you know what, it won't happen again. Here [the scroll] is yours. I don't wanna have anything to do with it anymore.
She even apologized to Momo. Katara had an isecurity rooted in trauma and pressure. When Aang try to teach her she hit a breaking point and lashed out. And not one second later she's already apologizing.
The Waterbending Master
Katara and Aang are going to see Pakku, the waterbending master. But when Pakku sees she's a girl, he says he won't teach her. This is why Katara gets angry. She flew across seas just to get rejected due Pakku is being a sexist freak. I think we can all agree that being denied something because of sexism is a good reason to get angry. And when Katara realized Pakku won't teach Aang if she'll keep insisting, she drops it abd tells Aang to drop it too.
Tumblr media
However, that doesn't mean she won't study in secret. She deserved to learn waterbending and she knew it. She took the consequences into consideration and decided to not make a fuss.
But of course, they both get caught. Pakku says he will no longer teach Aang, the Avatar who absolutly needs to study and still refuses to teach Katara because he's still sexist. Only then Katara challenges him to a duel. Only when they have nothing to lose. She challenged a sexist prick to a duel, one who shamelessly denied her oppretunity because of her gender.
The Chase
At the start of the episode Katara gently hints Toph to help unpack a camp for the night. This is when she's not tired yet, and shows patience.
Katara: So Toph, usually when setting up camp, we try to divide up the work.
Toph: Hey, don't worry about me. I'm good to go.
Katara (still calmly): Well, actually, what I'm trying to say is, some of us might fetch water while someone else might set up the fire pit or put up the tent. *smiles* Even Momo does his fair share.
Toph (slightly irritated): Katara, I'm fine. I can carry my own weight. I don't need a fire. I've already collected my own food. And look. *earth bends a tent* My tent's all set up.
Katara: Well, that's great for you but we still need to finish-
Toph (loudly): I don't understand. What's the problem here??
Katara: Never mind.
Tumblr media
Katara then goes to apologize. While also attempting to make sure her and Toph are on good terms by having her acknoledge that she wasn't 100 absolutly in the right.
Katara: Hey Toph, I wanted to apologize for earlier. I think we're all just a little tired and getting on each other's nerves.
Toph: Yeah, you do seem pretty tired.
Katara (slightly irrutated): I meant all of us.
Toph: Well, good night.
Katara: Good night.
Tumblr media
By all means, Toph is in the wrong for the sheer refusal for communication. At first Katara calmly explained to her what was needed without even spelling it out. Toph was being passive, so she dropped it. And then she apologizes after doing nothing wrong just so they could be on good terms. Toph was the one being passive agressive. And Katara pretty much let it slide.
This is Katara. The patience she showed right here is her natural, normal self. The rest of the episode is under the context of sleep deprivation and how it's making them all hostile to each other. Including the pacifist Aang. Who's outburst leads Toph to leave. After she does, both Aang and Katara express remorse.
Tumblr media
(Side note: I heard people take issue with the line "The stars sure are beautiful tonight, too bad you can't see them, Toph". It's been interpreted as Katara making fun of Toph for being blind, but it's just another instance in the recurring joke of the Gaang forgetting Toph is blind, and listed as such in the official A:TLA Youtube channel).
The Runaway
The episode has a silly opening where Aang is trained by Toph and Katara. Toph misses and accidently hits Katara with a big rock. After Toph doesn't apologize, it leads into a fight which is absolutly not to be taken seriously, that ends with Aang pointing out that it was supposed to be training.
Tumblr media
It doesn't work as an exapmle for supposed hot-headedness because the reason this whole thing started because Toph hit Katara with a rock and refused to apologize.
But moving on to the real conflict of these episode, Toph scammed someone and Katara makes it clear that they shouldn't do it again, it'll draw attention to them. Aang promises her it won't happen again but.. um.. you know what happened.
Katara, being responsible, told them to quit because they'd potentially get exposed. Toph didn't reach well, telling her to lighten up. Katara rightfully gets angry, because they really might get exposed and Toph is dismissing her like her concerns are nothing. They have a short argument and Toph storms out.
Tumblr media
This is why Katara was angry this episode. Her reasoning for being upset is the Gaang potentially exposing themselves for easy money. That's the conflict.
The Painted Lady
In this episode Katara sees a starving Fire Nation village but Sokka won't allow them to stay due to time limits. So she faked a disease for Appa so they could. Sokka confronts her. At first, she gives up and packs to leave. But since she destroyed the factory that's been polluting the villages water and taking their medicine, the people in charge assumed it was the civilians, and were coming to attack. Sokka and Katara get into a small but intense argument. Important to note, that she doesn't react intensively until Sokka does.
Katara: Well, what was I supposed to do?
Sokka: Leave! Do nothing.
Katara: No! I will never, ever turn my back on people who need me.
Tumblr media
Her anger here doesn't highlight hot-headedness, it highlights compassion. Compassion is one of Katara's core traits. She's angry because she's being angrily demanded to see people suffer and stand by. And she will not tolerate it. She will never, ever turn her back on people who need her.
2. These instances are the exception. Katara is defined by her compassion.
What I did here was listing off times where Katara did get angry. But this doesn't happen often. Katara is generally a caring, kind person. Rather if it's cheering up Sokka, going shopping with him after he admitted to feeling useless; if it's pulling Aang out of the Avatar state, putting herself at risk when he's out of control; if it's helping deliver a baby of a stranger; or if it's freeing prisoners of the Fire Nation. She demonstrates impressive patience throughout the show.
The Deserter
In this episode Aang was asked to just control fire. Aang gets irrutated himself at this, but Katara assured him that it's probably for a good reaso. But when his master left, he firebent. He was being extremely careless with his new found Fire Bending and burned Katara's hands.
Tumblr media
Did she...
A. splashed some water at him.
B. Yelled at him.
C. Ran away crying.
Tumblr media
Yeah, she didn't express anger at all. Sokka was who's angry at Aang.
The Desert
The sand benders stole Appa and the Gaang is suck in a desert. Katara demonstrates her patience a lot this episode.
Toph and Aang are arguing about Toph not stopping them.
Aang: You just didn't care! You never liked Appa! You wanted him gone.
Katara: Aang, stop it. You know Toph did all she could. She saved our lives.
Sokka: Who's gonna save our lives now? We'll never make itout of here.
Aang: That's all any of you guys care about, yourselves. You don't care whether Appa is okay or not.
Katara: We're all concerned, but we can't afford to be fighting now.
Tumblr media
Aang accused the Gaang of something horrible. Katara told him to stop, but still understood his anger and calmly explained to him that it's important not to fight in a life threatening situation.
Aang then storms out to look for Appa. Katara's response?
Tumblr media
Katara: We'd better start walking. We're the only people who know about the solar eclipse. We have to get that information to Ba Sing Se.
She didn't get angry, she was rational and thought about the greater good.
After Aang comes back, Katara suggest they should try sleeping, gives the Gaang all of her bending water without drinking herself. And then finds a way to get to Ba Sing Se using the locations of star systems.
The Gaang spots a cloud and mistakes it for Appa. But Katara realizes the potential in a cloud. She tells Aang to fly and bend the water from the cloud so they could drink.
Katara (disappoibted): Wow, there's hardly any in here.
Aang (intensively): I'm sorry, okay? It's a desert cloud, I did all I could. What's anyone else doing? *Points at Katara* What are you doing?
Tumblr media
After dealing with everyone's tireness, Sokka's high nonsense and Aang's attitude, carrying everyone, thinking of possible solutions to ensure they'd all survive, how did she react to Aang accusing her of not doing enough?
Tumblr media
Katara: Trying to keep everyone together. Let's just get moving. We need to head this direction.
And after everything she did for everyone, she pulls Aang out of the Avatar state when he's raging, out of control.
Tumblr media
Katara is not so hot headed.
She's sweet, nurturing and caring. She demonstrated incredible patience and perhaps even saved the Gang's life in The Desert with her resilience. Katara's compassion is her defining trait.
But that doesn't mean she's not a human being – she's allowed to be flawed, and in the moments where she does, she's very remorseful. And in the moments where she doesn't, people will still hold her accoutable for simply feeling a justified emotion.
Does it make you oh-so-hot headed to stand up to a sexist denying her opportunity? To make sure your friends don't destroy your chances to win a war? To not tolerate being told to see people in need and do nothing in a middle if an argument she didn't start? Of course it doesn't.
And other characters are allowed to express anger, to be flawed, in ways that are way worse than Katara without being labelled annoying hot headed by the fandom.
Katara is widly known to be irrational, letting her anger get the better of her, but it's simply not true.

Do you have any thoughts on making characters like Kim Possible more realistic for stories aside from aging her up? While still keeping the spirit of her, that is.
You can't make Kim Possible realistic because the superspy genre runs on implausibility, the superspy aspect of her persona only works in the genre's unrealistic space. If you try to run a superspy in a realistic world, you either get a dissociative psychopath or Jason Bourne (from the books, not the films) who is still pretty close to being a psychopath rather than your regular spy. To write a “realistic” Kim Possible, you'd end up with your run of the mill, hyper competitive, adrenaline junkie cheerleader without any superpowers or supergadgets and a school board that's not particularly thrilled with her antics. We're talking Buffy levels of burn down the high school. (Buffy did burn down a high school.)
The imporant thing to understand about Kim Possible if you want to deconstruct her character and pul her out of the genre where she currently works is that Kim isn't a character aged up. She's a character aged down and reformatted for a tween to teen audience. If I aged Kim Possible up, I'd have Get Smart's Ninety-Nine or a member of the original Charlie's Angels (take your pick) or a non-powered variant of Shego. Her contemporaries are the girls from Totally Spies, which are also a Charlie's Angels riff, and arguably even more insane than Kim is. To fully grasp Kim Possible as a character you want to write rather than a piece of media you consume is you have to understand her archetype and where all the pieces of her character come from. Those pieces are derived by material that proceeded her in the superspy genre.
This is what author's call a Lit Review.
When you find a character you like and want to use, instead of trying to copy what you see you go deeper into deconstruction. Deconstruction is just a fancy word that means you break everything down to it's base components and take it apart to understand how it works and functions as a whole so you can rebuild it in your own image. In the case of Kim Possible, a simple deconstruction isn't enough because she isn't a character, she's genre loci. (It fun play on genius loci, it means she's a personification of the genre rather than a person or place. She is by nature a formalistic entity, which means she only exists as part of the formula. That's why you're having difficulty writing her as a “realistic” character. Formalistic entities do not function in the real world.)
To understand Kim Possible as a character, you have to understand Kim Possible as a formula. Worse, you have to study two different genres because she's fusion of two different formulas that are both equally unrealistic. Fortunately, the superspy and the superhero genre have enough cross-bleed that you only need one. You'll have to do a comprehensive review of both the superspy genre and the teen dramedy genre (Saved by the Bell, 90210, Boy Meets World, Sweet Valley High, you know, the John Waters version of high school. If you've been consuming mainly CW dramas like the current iteration of Riverdale you have the wrong era and will have to start all over.) For a comprehensive lit review, you have to go all the way back to the beginning with the original James Bond and watch them in sequence, then watch Get Smart (by the time you get here, you'll have the same degree of contempt for Bond as Mel Brooks so that works in your favor), pay special attention to Ninety-Nine the original avatar of the female superspy, and then watch Charlie's Angels, the original TV show not the movies. By this point, you'll understand all the pieces that went into Kim's creation and then you'll be able to independently pull them out keep what you want.
If that sounds like a lot of work, you're right. Picking one isn't enough because she has pieces of all of them, and they're all influenced by their predecessor. Ninety-Nine is a direct reaction to the treatment of women in James Bond, and Charlie's Angels are an adaptation of Ninety-Nine as James Bond. A lot of female superspies are direct references to James Bond (whether they want to be or not) and Kim Possible is no exception. The show is full of James Bond injokes and many of her villains are direct references to Bond villains. The old Sean Connery Bond villains. (Much as it's in the name, you don't need either the original Mission Impossible or the film remakes. If you want to watch the Peter Graves era for an even more comprehensive experience, go right ahead.)
You don't understand Bond? You don't understand Kim.
Teenagers don't make for good spies in a realistic world. They're not emotionally mature enough to do the job. That's not an insult. When you're a teenager, your brain is still maturing, you're halfway to being an adult, but you're still growing into yourself and a lot of what you're experiencing you're experiencing for the first time. Experiences that feel like the end of the world to a teenager, are just Tuesday to an adult. You don't feel emotions the same at sixteen and twenty-five, or sixteen and thirty-five, part of that is experience and part of it is the intensity of our emotions decays over time. Adults are also better at hiding what emotions they do feel. These are all reasons why adults seem so unfeeling to teenagers.
Worse, for the realistic Kim, she comes from a stable home environment. She's got loving parents, appreciative, supportive friends, and lives a happy, well-adjusted life even without saving the world. She doesn't have the cynicism, suspicious nature, mercurial adaptable behaviors, and survival instincts that broken homes and abusive environments train in young. In the real world, evil passes itself off as good. There's no colorful costumes or villainous laughs or soundtrack to point out who you can't trust. The friendliest, nicest people are often the first to stab you in the back. Appearances deceive and ingrained biases cloud perception. Spies are not well-adjusted people or emotionally healthy. It's a lot easier to talk someone off a cliff if you are also on a cliff. The point of a spy is that they're a bad person. The superspy genre is an escape from the realities of being a spy and it was originally written by a former spy.
The kid from the broken home learns early that people behave differently in different environments, and they need to be wary until they determine if the person they think they can trust is someone they can actually trust. Often the most well-intentioned people make bad situations worse trying to resolve conflicts they've chosen not to understand. At the same time, people wear masks and not all secrets are nefarious. To be able to determine the difference between someone acting supiciously (hiding a secret) and someone who is actually nefarious takes practice. This is even a common subplot in teen mystery dramas for teenagers (and adults) to be misled by their own prejudices and their inability to tell the difference between types of suspicious behavior. There's the secrets that don't matter and the ones that'll get you killed and they can be the same secrets. Understanding the faceted nature of people, fully analyzing their personalities so you can predict their moves without being a fully mature person with your own experiences to draw from? That's hard. It's a difficult ask for adults who are professionals.
You can't keep Kim's optomism and turn her into a traditional spy. The traditional spy needs to both be able to see the worst in someone and then use that dark nature against them. They collect secrets and vulnerabilities so they can turn the average person into an asset later. They can't do everything themselves, they need to be comfortable with using people and with the part where using those same people will get them killed. There's elements here that do mimick high school, but it's a much more dangerous game with much higher stakes and a lot less room for error. A teenager this manipulative this young is either a narcisscist or a sociopath, and even then they won't have refined their manipulation to the point they can carry it off like an adult. (If you hav e a difficult time comprehending this concept, you are stilll a child. Enjoy it while you can.)
You also can't really do Kim Possible in the CW mold while keeping her Kim Possible. The same problems as the spy to superspy genre apply. The Vampire Diaries approach to teenagers is antithetical to the John Waters high school. Someone's going to have to be the cynic, half the cast are lovable assholes, evil will prevail over good on a regular basis, and everyone in the CW's world will be varying shades of gray with dark secrets. CW teenage dramas are gritty (and not particularly realistic either, even if they are entertaining.) You can't put James Bond and Frank Miller's Sin City in the same place and play them both straight. Superman's ideals and morals don't function properly in The Boys universe. That optomistic view of humanity isn't supported. If you want optomism in your narrative, you need to fight for it.
An optomistic character can succeed in a cynical world and keep their optomism while making tragic mistakes, but they need to be supported by the author and story's structure. A careful balance has to be maintained between hope and darkness, and it is very easy to go past a character's point of no return. It's easy to become cynical, it's easy to embrace nihilism especially in the face of tragedy. Kim Possible is not a character designed around the idea of moral fortitude. She's not a character who has to fight for her beliefs in a dark world. She doesn't have articulated morals or a philosophical outlook, she just does what she thinks is right. A character doing what they think is right in a cynical story sets the stage for events to fall apart in a tragic ending.
The question is, do you want a realistic version of Kim Possible or do you want a version that you feel is going to be more serious, and literary, and will be accepted? As much as it's currently in vogue, cynicsm and nihilism aren't automatically better or more mature storytelling.
Kim Possible is accepted. Kim Possible being unrealistic is not a failure of the material. She's supposed to be a teenage comedy pastiche of the superspy genre. She works because she embraces both genres in all their corny cheesiness wholeheartedly and without irony. Even when Kim Possible is at its most tongue and cheek, Kim herself is never the joke. The mirror between Kim and Shego is intentional. It's good practice to have your villain be a jaded, cynical, dark version of your protagonist (with better comedic timing.) Shego is cynical so Kim can be optomistic.
Kim's ideals and morals are designed for a more hopeful world than the one we live in and that's fine. James Bond is one of the most iconic film heroes of all time. Get Smart and Charlie's Angels are both beloved to this day. Kim Possible and Totally Spies were successful media properties. A market exists for teenage superspies. While Harriet the Spy is probably the closest to a “realistic” Kim Possible you're going to get, I think you're looking for something else, something more adrenaline filled, something exciting, and that's okay.
You don't need realism. You need a world that feels plausible enough your audience will embrace it. That's just good worldbuilding and understanding your genre. You don't need to be the next Game of Thrones, you don't need to be (the new) Casino Royale. Don't be embarassed by the silliness, don't be worried if the story is serious enough, skip off into the sunset with your catchy theme song and naked mole rat. Tell the story you want, the story that you love.
And do your reading (and watching) because the more you understand, the better you write. If you can't take Kim Possible at her worst (Roger Moore) you don't deserve her at her best.

I feel like the way the Valar treat the Children (the Eldar especially) is kind of like... late adolescents. Yes, you're technically an adult and we'll give you some independence, but we're also absolutely going to make your decisions for you if we think it's best for you. Besides, you're living in our house, that means you obey our rules.
Oh, you think exile for 120 years being grounded for a year is an unjust punishment for drawing a sword on Fingolfin punching your half-brother? Well what are you gonna do, uh? Leave this house?
Oh, you want to got to war against Morgoth go to art school when I, who pays for your studies, decided you should study law? Well go on then, but you better hope to be successful, because I'm not going to provide aid and weapons give you a single cent. And don't come back crying if you predictably fail to make a living. And don't expect us to take pity when you're in Mandos keep your room for you while you're gone.
You got caught kinslaying doing drugs? Well I won't have any of that in my house. You can go get burned by a Silmaril spend a few months in jail, it will teach you. And you failed to kill the evil overlord sue your terrible landlord? Maybe you should have gone to law school after all, uh? How about I deal with the landlord for you, destroy Beleriand in the process take the damage and interest money for myself (I advocated for you, after all) and leave you homeless unless you crawl back home on your knees?
(I'm writing some War of Wrath pieces and trying to restrain myself from being too mean to Eönwë, this is a good release. I don't think the Valar actually mean to be quite that bad, they're just... making some decisions.)

daddy issues by the nbhd toji where every time you're on your way home from university, you see that scumbug of a guy walking across the street with either a bag of grocery, box of takeout food, or a toolbox. he looks at you sometimes, stops walking, with his free hand insert in the pocket of his loose pants. ofc with that intimidating gaze from the other side of the street sends shivers down your spine, but when buses pass by, he disappears.
then one day you finally interact, it's the time when your father abandoned you and you don't know how to earn enough cash to sustain your education while also studying. your mother is quite distraught by your father's actions, but she's too selfish to focus on providing enough for you. you're going through too much and you can already see your grades being affected
so you ended up at the nearest 7/11 store. it's late, really late, and you just got home from school + looking for jobs. you sit down and bury your face in your palms. later on, you're crying. the person behind the cashier counter felt bad for you and gave you a free cup noodles. so now you're eating while crying.
the guy you're looking at all the time ends up going to the convenience store because he ran out of food. ran out of food at 12 am, yes. he's wearing house clothes. even if the aisles attempt to cover him as he walks around to pick up his grocery list, he's tall enough that his head still peeks out atop the shelves.
you're finished with eating, and you realized it's too late and you still have to walk home, clean the apartment, and do some reading. swiftly, you pack up and grab your bag. you end up crying again, going down to crouch on the pavement. just in time, the guy comes out of the store and notices your crumpled figure sobbing and sniffling.
you look up and see him sitting down on the pavement, legs stretched out dangerously till it his ankles touch the road surface.
"well this time we're on the same street." he said. "except you're crying. blow your snot, geez." then he takes out the sealed roll of tissue from his grocery bag and pinches your nose. "blow."
just from the simple the gesture, you broke down into loud cries. "what the fuck," he says, as if taken aback by your reaction.
"sorry, i'm just so tired already," you say between sobs and sniffles. "dad left me, mom doesn't care, and now i have to... take care of myself. independent all of a sudden without any preparation."
he cheers you up by acquainting himself with you. he doesn't know how to comfort you so he's just there, sharing random stories, occasionally raising his eyebrows when he looks at his receipt. he also tells you about his struggles, well not in detail of course. he's a college dropout, banished from his family, and doesn't have much prospect with jobs either, especially since he dropped out in sophomore year years ago. his only work is being an on-call mechanic. has some side jobs sometimes, but it obviously means he's also not earning enough to be comfortably living.
"but i don't really care anymore." he shrugs. "i mean, having weird ass jobs can be entertaining, too." you both chuckle.
it's already thirty minutes past one in the morning.
he's the one who tells you it's time for you both to go. "i'm not gonna intrude your privacy, but just let me look at you from afar to ensure you get home safely, got it?" you nod.
"thanks, toji."
"nothing to thank for, kid."
but you're not walking yet. both of you are just staring at each other, and the length of this silent conversation is starting to burn your cheeks. there's something about his stare or his person for that matter that makes him dark. dark with a flickering light in him.
you feel like you're levitating when he walks up closer, head tilting to face you. "aren't you gonna go home?" oh my god, it tickles your gut when he says your name.
you snap out of your senses. it feels gloomy to go back to your sad life after meeting toji officially, the guy who always walks across you when you go home. you know it will be different after this night. but the thing is, even as you snap out of your senses, you're still staring at him. he looks away, and then walks away eventually.
"thanks."
"yeah yeah. and thanks for not burning a hole in my head with that staring contest."
"can i hug you?"
"what."
"only if you want to," you reply. "just to help me feel better tomorrow⎯"
you need to finish. he walks up to you and with his larger figure, he wraps his arm around you in an embrace, then brings his hand to your head, softly ruffling your hair. "better treat me food next time. i don't do this shit all the time."
as you walk away on the way to your apartment building, you turn to see his shrinking figure looking at your direction, then eventually starts walking to the other direction
hell yeah

Before I die untill the end of the month due to studies and deadlines, here's one last doodle bunch for Dark Rain
Tumblr media
First Gen models, also known locally as the "Mother gen". Two first independent AIs created by different people for different purposes. Have almost nothing in common, including: different models, bio-components, mechanical-components, programming, character, regulations and settings. Sliver was a model 0, created separately from the "Ocean of Eternity" project group. Luna, on the other hand, is it's first and most important participant.
Tumblr media
Second Gen or "Hybrid gen" was a cross between first two models, born of collaborative efforts of those who worked on Sliver and Luna. It was as much an experiment as a necessity. Have some similar biological and mechanical components, some of them even identical. Sun is a lot closer to Luna in his components, as they we're supposed to be first participants of the "Mentorship" program. Sig has more original and specialised components specifically for fulfilling the role of an assistant.
Tumblr media
Third Gen - most interesting and diverse, because of that it was named "Experimental". A lot of independent groups of developers started to participate in creation of iterators and so new ideas, new AIs and new components were brought to the table. Some of their components have similarities with the former gen models, but a large percent of their structures is brand new and more developed in comparison. This gen is also the most restricted from the beggining, depending on their Administration an citizens for certain actions.

follow up to my previous thoughts about the Aguefort Adventuring Academy:
i got more right than i expected, though there's definitely a lot that's being filled in around what we knew from freshman year.
Faculty Updates:
Introduced/Mentioned during the Episode:
Interim Principal: Emergency Backup Principal Arcturus Grix
This is definitely a construct of Aguefort's that's been reprogrammed to focus on an exact impression of "adventuring order".
Interim Vice Principal: Jace Stardiamond, the sorcery professor
Artificer Professor: Henry Something? The original name on payroll was Grunding Tomblast. (mentioned only, since Porter wouldn't recommend Gorgug)
Barbarian Professor: Porter Cliffbreaker. Suspicious and rude.
Bard Professor: Lucilla Lullaby (changed from music professor). Fey/Eladrin
Bardic Dance Teacher: Terpsichore Skullcleaver. Tiniest half-orc you've ever seen, always says what you need to hear even if it isn't what you'd expect.
Cleric/Religious Studies: Yolanda Badgood. Air genasi who broke up with a deity to pursue faith.
Fighter Professor: Corsica Jones (mentioned only, though we met her in the Seven)
Wizard Professor: Tiberia Runestaff. Originated in the Mountains of Chaos, very traditional old wizard now teaching the wizards of the Aguefort Adventuring Academy. Adaine desperately wants to impress her, and she gets called out for predictions.
We've gotten more information about the other professors though we already knew their names. Eugenia Shadow is the supposed rogue professor that must be found in order to get an A for the year.
Class Content:
For the Barbarians, Porter is an asshole that focuses on the destructive parts of rage rather than the protective elements.
We had a reference to Fighter classes and learning different fighting styles with Ms. Jones, though we didn't see it in this episode.
Cleric classes center around individual connection with a deity, as well as some discussion of spreading faith and proselytizing. Kristen is a very talented cleric who doesn't do homework and is struggling on her faith journey.
Rogue classes are more independent study; finding the professor is the win condition. If the class is based on self-motivated investigative work and research, I can understand why all of the rogues we've seen at Aguefort (Riz Gukgak, Penny Luckstone, Kipperlilly Copperkettle) are the way they are.
Bard Classes can come in a couple of different types: obviously there's the traditional class that Fig attended for the first time, as well as smaller concentrations like Fabian's dance class. The dance course seems to be a smaller track, with fewer students but a more intensive schedule. Granted, we're getting Fabian's multiclassed view of it, so it's not entirely accurate to the experience of a typical bardic dance student.
Wizard classes revolve around studying and practicing spells, as expected, but aren't taught with school endowed material components as I would have expected. Aguefort cares about a robust Wizard's education, but doesn't have classroom material components? He's making it a class of only privileged students. We can't have a poor wizard around here, can we.
Sidenote to that: we know now that Hudol places a focus on theoretical magic while Aguefort focuses on practical workings--actually practicing the skills needed to bind, conjure, enchant, etc.
Sidenote to the sidenote: I started looking into higher level wizard spells with high cost items as material components:
5th level:
create spelljamming helm (5000 gp crystal rod, consumed)
dawn (100 gp sunburst pendant)
legend lore (250 gp of incense, 200 gp of ivory strips)
infernal calling (999 gp ruby)
planar binding (minimum 1000 gp jewel, consumed)
scrying (1000 gp focus, such as a crystal ball, silver mirror, or font of holy water)
summon draconic spirit (500 gp object with engraved dragon iconography)
teleportation circle (inks infused with gems worth 50 gp)
6th level:
circle of death (500 gp black pearl)
contingency (1500 gp gem encrusted statuette)
create homunculus (1000 gp jeweled dagger)
create undead (150 gp black onyx stone per corpse)
drawmij's instant summons (1000 gp sapphire)
magic jar (500 gp gem/crystal/reliquary)
7th level:
create magen (500 gp quicksilver and human sized doll)
draconic transformation (500 gp dragon statuette)
forcecage (1500 gp ruby dust)
mordenkainen's sword (250 gp platinum sword)
plane shift (250 gp rod attuned to plane of choice)
sequester (5000 gp of diamond, emerald, ruby & sapphire dust)
simulacrum (1500 gp ruby dust)
symbol (1000 gp of mercury, phosphorus, diamond dust and opal)
8th level:
clone (1000 gp diamond, 2000 gp coffin/urn, cubic inch of flesh)
mighty fortress (500 gp diamond)
9th level:
astral projection (1000 gp jacinth + 100 gp carved bar of silver, per person affected)
gate (5000 gp diamond)
imprisonment (500 gp component per hit die of the target, changes depending on spell type: mithral orb for burial, precious metal chain for chaining, miniature jade prison for hedged prison, gemstone of corundum or diamond for minimus containment)
invulnerability (500 gp adamantine)
shapechange (1500 gp jade circlet)
so the request for 10 barrels of diamonds tracks; they need enough material components to be able to repeat the spells and practice them and that doesn't run cheap.
personal theory: when aguefort went to war with fallinel he pulled on the school's supplies of material components in order to cast on that scale, and he couldn't maintain it, so even stuff that wouldn't be consumed by the casting probably got dumped somewhere in fallinel or given away as reparations.
I'm also going to guess that in the lower grades, the students wouldn't be paying for everything, but rather paying something like a lab fee that took care of material components on a smaller scale.
Multiclassing:
There's a few things that have that this episode clarified:
If a student wants to multiclass on their transcript, they must fill out a request to their current class' professor in order to request a change to their courseload. The student may be prevented from attending their secondary or tertiary courses if their current professor believes that they cannot keep up with the increase in rigor, or if the student is underperforming in their current class. As shown with Porter, a teacher can technically refuse for other reasons (thinking the student isn't suited to the new class, or determining a lack of class compatibility). This recommendation is easier for some classes than others; it is simple to combine most martial classes, especially those that have compatible traits such as fighters and barbarians. However, it is difficult to combine classes that are prohibitive of each other; the example we have is Gorgug, since his barbarian rage prevents him from casting and holding concentration spells from his artificer levels in battle.
If they get approval, they must take the MCAT, or Multiclass Achievement Test, in order to prove competency in their secondary class. This functions as a way of proving that the student can enter the class at their current level and keep up with their peers.
Upon passing the MCAT, the student's courseload changes; rather than taking 4 semesters of one class, they will take 3 semesters of each class, presumably with some leveling to fit their particular split in multiclass. This results in a 150% courseload as opposed to single-classed students, with a high level of rigor, especially heading into the upperclassmen years
Quest Theory:
We got tacit confirmation from Brennan that the Bad Kids, and even the Seven are unusual for saving the world, when most Aguefort students are doing local dungeon crawls and going to school. This fits with my overleveling theory, especially if they're going to be going back to a major progression cycle as they did during freshman year. I highly doubt it, given the content and themes of this season, but I think the overall structure fits.
This also fits with my theory about D-F class quests; students may only need to complete one or more of these to pass the yearly quest. Technically, retrieving the Crown of the Nightmare King could have been considered a fetch quest, but there ended up being more to it than that. The Bad Kids haven't done traditional dungeon crawls, at least not from what we've seen. There are qualified adventuring parties in Spyre, but the Aguefort Adventuring Academy produces the 'premier parties of teen heroes' that go around addressing world-class threats.
The examples that we have of Solisian adventurers come from the Bad Kids' parents, and the Seven's parents. Sandra Lynn works with the Solisian rangers; the Applebees' (ew) work as paladins, guarding against threats from the Mountains of Chaos, presumably in tandem with the rangers. Karl Cleaver stayed with his party for decades--they went on a dungeon crawl in the 888th and 889th layers of the Abyss during the events of the Seven. There are adult adventurers, but it's made clear that they are dealing with everyday threats, while the teen heroes are out in the world causing problems and solving them.
To add to my previous theory: the Seven were given two weeks to investigate the disappearance of Tectonya Karkovnya and go on their GED quest. The Bad Kids got an extra week of spring break. This allowed them to get their world-saving done, but may have led to the accusations of special treatment.
Theories on the Season:
I'd wager that Kipperlilly and the Ratgrinders are trying to make Aguefort more egalitarian by getting rid of the Bad Kids' quest progress i.e. the reason they're overleveled and getting special treatment. The Rogue Professor seekign Kipperlilly out as opposed to her actually doing the work? Sounds like funny business to me.
Next episode is probably going to be the rest of the day of classes and the start of extracurriculars, based on the mentions of the bloodrush team and student government candidacy.
Riz looks like he's going to be in the driver's seat for seeking out the Bad Kids' academic and greater interests, though Fig is leaning in on the investigation of the Ratgrinders, and they're all full force on the presidential campaign. I think Gorgug's work as an artificer is going to come into play with the main plot if they're facing down the reprogrammed Arcturus Grix.
