my husband's cousin is flying to New Zealand next month and as a result, every Sunday for the next couple of weeks, we're waking up at ungodly hours to watch the extended edition of Lord of the Rings all together.
I have to leave for work just after noon so, to include me, they changed the schedule to fit my availability!

The sole reason to Lord of the Rings to be as gay as it is is that there are 5 female character with names in the thing, and I don't think 3 of them have personalities.
There were 0 queer coding, but also 0 women.

ok, guys, there is something so indisputably hot about vibrating 'RRR' in english
i don't know, maybe that's about the familiarity, because in my language "r" is always resonant... also don't care if it comes from you using old english, scottish or any other type of english, or if it is accent derived from your native speech (so many languages have vibrant 'r', english, what did go wrong?), it's beautiful, great, marvelous. nonetheless, when you say proper R and not that strange 'ɹ' thing, oh dear...

A whopping, like, 2.6 people have expressed interest in my recent adventures in watching Bean films, which is all the encouragement I need to present to you:
An Incomplete Guide to Sean Bean Roles (Investigation Ongoing)
Tumblr media
Our guy has a vast filmography, and I'm not even close to being halfway through it, but I've watched a lot of his significant ones in the past few weeks thanks to a perfect storm of illness, injury, and lapses in client work. Crucially, I have created superlatives for a variety of them and present them here for your benefit. Disclaimer: many of these films are violent! Or have butts and/or tits! Some have dick! Some have dated bits that didn't age well! So, if you have triggers or are watching with young viewers, do your research first! Also, these are just the opinions of one solitary millennial! Nothing is objective! Nothing is real! I care not!
Okay, CYA done, let's begin. I'll get the two most obvious ones out of the way up front, otherwise they'll dominate half the categories:
ACT I
Greatest Bean: Fellowship of the Ring. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he achieved more pathos with Boromir than a lot of his other roles have allowed for, and every note he hits just sings. No debate.
Best Bean for Your Buck: Sharpe. For the best confluence of quantity, quality, physicality, emotion, humor, and action, you can't beat Richard Sharpe.
Tumblr media
Favorite Dramatic Bean: Time; he earned that BAFTA fr
Softest Bean: The first date scene in Stormy Monday, where Brendan shyly gets to know Kate, slow dances with her, lends her a shirt and strokes her back after she asks if they can just go to sleep instead of have sex.
Most Dashing Bean: Vronsky in Anna Karenina, that uniform cuts, damn
Tumblr media
Swooniest Bean: I know I'm supposed to say Chatterley, and he is undeniably sexy as Mellors, but there are parts where his character is actually kind of off-putting. I'll lay a good chunk of the blame on the weirdly ominous score, the very of-the-time depiction of dubious consent, and Joely Richardson's tendency to look like she's having the worst time of her life while shagging the hot gamekeeper. No, I'm giving this category to Stormy Monday again. He's just so gentle and genuine in this one, without some of the obligatory "heartthrob" overtones of his nineties stuff. He never raises his voice at Kate or manhandles her. He really does feel like some kid who just wants to be sweet to his girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Laddiest Bean: When Saturday Comes, specifically the strip club and bathtub scenes.
Favorite Sad Bean: As a collective, he has some great grief scenes in World on Fire, but! The railroad track scene in When Saturday Comes?! That was RAW.
Favorite Mad Bean: Black Death; there are plenty of movies where he doesn't smile at all, but unlike some others, his grimness and anger felt proportionate to the story, rather than just rage because he's good at rage.
Favorite Bad Bean: There are so many great Bean villains (Goldeneye, obvs), but I think my favorite is Patriot Games. Bonus points for all the different hairstyles he has in this film (long locks-shag-shag ponytail!-buzz-wet spiky buzz). Also HUGH FRASER AAAA
Favorite Dad Bean: Wolfwalkers, where Bill Goodfellowe literally turns his own convictions and beliefs upside-down in order to protect and support his daughter.
Tumblr media
INTERMISSION
A note on GoT: I haven't watched it. When season one was first coming out, it was during a time where I really couldn't handle watching any kind of sexual assault onscreen, and while I have a higher tolerance now, I just... don't want to. I like seeing gifs of Ned Stark and appreciate that it's one of his great roles, but I just can't make myself take the plunge.
Tumblr media
ilysm you grizzled dead wolf man
ACT II
Favorite Costumed Bean: Odysseus in Troy: curls, leather, thighs.
Tumblr media
Favorite Un-Costumed Bean: He strips in quite a lot of his films, so let's give it to Lady Chatterley for sheer screentime, exertion, and the bonus of being naked and wearing a flower crown. Honorable mention to When Saturday Comes for the totally not homoerotic amount of butts and also dick in the locker room bathtub scene.
Hurtin'est Bean: Bravo Two Zero. Oof, don't watch this one if you have an aversion to seeing pain, although---you're a Sean Bean fan, and we all know one of his MOs is being GREAT at pain. This one was directed by Tom Clegg, who directed Sharpe. Also lol at the sickle-shaped wound on his shoulder, which is covering his 100% Blade tattoo (he gets a lot of sickle-shaped wounds on his left shoulder).
Tumblr media
Best Inside References: The Frankenstein Chronicles, where he plays a former Peninsular soldier, and every reference to his service is a reference to Sharpe, including shots of his greenjacket, pistol, sword, and flogging scars. Honorable mention to The Martian for the Council of Elrond line.
Most Unsettling Bean: Cleanskin for moral grayness, The Frankenstein Chronicles for body horror
Tumblr media
Most Inefficient Use of Bean: Black Beauty. Despite getting high billing he's only onscreen for about two minutes and I'm convinced the long shots are a body double. Criminal.
Biggest Missed Opportunity: We were robbed of a Sean Bean Odyssey. R o b b e d
Funniest Bean: Deploying Bean for comedy is woefully underused, but he made full use of his ~15 seconds in The Vicar of Dibley ("Spring" episode). He's also hilarious in Wasted, though I haven't watched the show, only the clips he's in on YouTube, where he plays a mock version of himself serving as a spirit guide for a stoner. IMO, though, Sharpe gives him the most room for humor.
Tumblr media
Favorite Character Quirk: In World on Fire, when Douglas is having WWI flashbacks and really coming apart, he kept putting his hand to his mouth. My modern brain first read this as talking into a phantom radio, but of course that wasn't right, and then I realized--he was reaching for a phantom gas mask. CHILLS. AMAZING. (Honorable mentions to the Mouth Rub and the Tongue Thing [pictured above]).
Most Nostalgic Bean: National Treasure. The concept may be utter silliness, but you have to admit, this is a fun movie to watch.
Best Dismount from a Horse: Henry VIII, he goes pshwing out of the saddle
Best Swordplay: You may think there's no possible answer to this, but there is---two moments, specifically: the preparatory sword-spin he does at Balin's tomb just before the goblin attack in Moria, and the four lunges he does at 1:26:22 of Sharpe's Battle. It's just facts.
Tumblr media
Prettiest Bean Film: Wolfwalkers, hands downnnn
Favorite Bean Death: All right, you knew we had to eventually end here. It's Boromir, obviously--- nothing tops that. But if we're looking at other roles, I think Patriot Games is my favorite, followed by Goldeneye.
Tumblr media
So! That concludes this installment of Bean films, though I'll be continuing the labor, and I hope you will, too. What are your favorites?

dating aragorn headcanons!
Tumblr media
hi guys this is the first time in a while that i've written something so i hope that you enjoy. i just recently rewatched lord of the rings and i'm obsessed with aragorn again so here are some headcanons!
aragorn x gn!reader
Aragorn is the biggest gentleman ever. You basically won the lottery when you started dating him.
The lyrics “In a world of boys he’s a gentleman” are about him 100%. Taylor Swift you are not slick at all.
Do not be fooled by his rugged looks, this man is the biggest romantic. He will plan the most romantic dates for the two of you even when he’s busy trying to be King. Even when he’s busy with his kingly duties he will still find a way to shower you with affection. Whether it’s leaving little love notes on your nightstand or bringing you a flower bouquet, he always wants you to make sure that you know that he’s thinking about you.
Aragorn’s love language is through acts of service. He wants to do everything for you. You are his first priority. You’re not feeling well? He’ll drop everything in his schedule to make sure you’re alright. Your weapons aren’t clean? He’ll clean them no problem. You’re cold? Bro will gladly take off his shirt and give it to you so that you’re not cold anymore.
When you guys were trekking through Middle Earth this man made sure that you got as much rest as possible
“Aragorn it’s my turn to take watch” you had said, rubbing your eyes with exhaustion. He walked over to you and put a hand on your shoulder. “You’re still tired, rest, sweet one, I’ll take care of it.” “But-” “No buts,” he said as he pushed you down gently. “Alright well I’m taking your shift tomorrow night,” you grumbled as you put your head in his lap and immediately fell asleep.
Let's just say he didn’t let you take the shift the next day.
He is soooo overprotective of you. He’s always been very protective over those he cares about but he’s especially protective over you since you’re his number one priority. Aragorn's actions are driven by genuine concern and love. He simply cannot bear the thought of losing those he holds dear and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
He’s the person who taught you how to fight. You were so embarrassingly bad at first but Aragorn never once made fun of you. He was patient even as you started getting annoyed with training. He was determined to make you a great fighter and it worked.
During the fellowship, you fought fearlessly alongside Aragorn and took down hundreds of orcs together. At one point, Merry even playfully called you guys a power couple because of how hard you both fought together, which made you both grin at each other.
You and Aragorn are basically the hobbits’ parents. They all love you so much and look up to you both with the utmost respect. You both admire them a lot too. Their loyalty and determination never fail to inspire both of you to keep going, even when things get tough and the future feels uncertain.
You’re also best friends with Gimli and Legolas. They have so much respect for you. They are also always trying to one-up each other when it comes to you so they can be your favorite. Spoiler alert you could never choose between them!
Gimli often pretends to be grossed out by displays of affection between you and Aragorn, and likes to tease the two of you with mock disgust. “Oh, just get a room already!” he’d say which would make you and Aragorn laugh. However, deep down, he secretly harbors a soft spot for romance and enjoys witnessing the love and affection between you two. He may grumble and groan about it on the surface, but in reality, he finds it heartwarming to see the bond you share and the happiness you bring each other.
Aragorn isn’t really big on PDA but once you’re alone together, he's affectionate and attentive, making sure you feel cherished and cared for in every moment you share.
In public, he keeps it subtle with affection, but every now and then, he'll gently caress your palms or hold your hand, just enough to let you know he's there. It's his quiet way of showing love without drawing too much attention.
This man loves to give you forehead kisses. Whether you're feeling on top of the world or weighed down by the challenges of the day, Aragorn's forehead kisses are his way of saying that he’s always going to be there for you.
You often find yourself snuggled against his chest, your hand resting over his heart while his arm encircles you protectively. His fingers trace gentle patterns on your skin, a soothing sensation that relaxes you.
He also has the softest singing voice. It’s so pretty. He mostly sings old Elvish tunes but sometimes he’ll sing some songs in English.
You and Aragorn both share a love for animals, and you often find yourselves adopting stray creatures in need of a home. He's clearly a dog person through and through (I don't make the rules), but he has a soft spot for cats as well.
You love it when Aragorn tells you stories about his past. Whenever he starts recounting his adventures, you're all ears, completely mesmerized by his past. Secretly he loves your fascination with his stories and it fills him with a quiet sense of warmth.
You have a shared love for adventure and often find yourselves exploring new places together, whether it's hiking through scenic landscapes or just going around Gondor.
He is also the best listener. You tend to yap a lot but he does not seem to care at all. He will listen attentively, asking questions every so often, drinking in your every word. He always wants to make sure that you feel heard.
Aragorn also dreams about starting a family with you. He's always imagined the joy of being a father and raising children together, but he'll only take that step if you're both on board and excited about it. Your comfort and readiness are his top priorities, and he wants nothing more than to embark on this adventure together, hand in hand.

I first watched Goncharov (1973) in a college film class (an insufferable statement, I know, I’m sorry), which was an interesting experience on several levels because:
1) I’m not actually sure how the professor got a copy at the time? Like, I am 99% certain it was a bootleg they’d picked up during a summer research trip to Europe and the rest of the department/the librarians/whoever was actually in charge of the AV center all just had an unspoken agreement to never mention it, because there was no way our small liberal arts college was going to get legit rights to it, even for educational purposes. The legal backstory of the movie would probably have made for a fascinating interdisciplinary special topics course all by itself.
2) I happened to be in a class with a strangely significant number of people with Italian and Russian heritage, of the recent enough sort that they visited family in those countries regularly and had at least casual listening skills in the languages, if not fluency. And this made for a fascinating class discussion, far better than I think the professor had ever anticipated, because it turned out that each subset of students in the class (northeastern American vs. Italian vs. Russian) was picking up on different sets of themes and symbolism. We had one senior in the class who was applying for a Watson fellowship to study Russian iconography after graduation and the stuff she brought in about the Orthodox images just shown casually in the background added a whole dimension our prof had never heard anyone talk about before. I’m pretty sure they ended up co-authoring a paper about it.
Anyway, not that anyone needed my rambling about this, but the sudden Goncharov renaissance here has been very nostalgic for me.

Ok, Taskmaster UK tier list. Go
excluding: pre-Series 7 (because it has been ages since i've seen them and i honestly do not remember); Champion of Champions; New Years Treat
(*) indicates the series that i have watched multiple times and/or more recently.
S16*: possibly dictated by recency bias but i genuinely enjoyed this series more than any other i think. it usually takes me a couple of episodes to warm up to the cast but i was immediately sucked in this time. not a single normal person in sight and Sam Campbell is a special brand of insane that i resonate with on a worryingly deep and personal level.
S7*: watching James Acaster get genuinely angry over futile things is one of life's greatest pleasures if you ask me and my god does this series deliver on that front. this cast exists somewhere between found family and deranged Lord of the Flies remake in a way that i find irresistible.
S10: nearly ex aequo with S13 but the fact that this was filmed during the pandemic gives it an underlying hysterical quality that makes it take the cake. the outtakes (especially the "Little Trumper" part) are possibly the hardest i've ever laughed while watching this programme.
S13*: the way the cast interact in the studio really gives this series some extra oomph. i can't quite put my finger on it but the vibe is sort of like Fellowship of the Ring except they all die the second they set foot outside of Rivendell. besides, Greg Davies being genuinely scared of Bridget Christie will never not be hilarious to me.
S11*: very close to S10 and S13 but i have a primal dislike of Lee Mack that means i personally can't fully enjoy these episodes. there are still some excellently cursed moments (e.g., "absolute casserole") to be enjoyed. i had a weird crush on Mike Wozniak for months after watching this. it was humiliating but it bumps it up in the ranking.
S9: i've only watched it once back when it aired and maybe it would rank higher if i did watch it again. Ed Gamble's actual visceral rage at David Baddiel during that one studio task is legendary, i wish we got more of that. unfortunately i can't remember much else.
S14: as deducible from this list one of my favourite Taskmaster tropes is Contestant Who Desperately Wants to Do Well being teamed up and hindered by Inept Contestant(s) and the Dara O'Briain - Fern Brady - John Kearns partnership is a shining example of that. ranks low(er) only because i feel like the tasks themselves weren't terribly memorable.
S12: similarly to S9, i feel like i need to revisit this one to form fair judgment but i don't think i ever really clicked with the cast. i liked the contestants individually but perhaps their interaction was hampered by the social distancing measures. i remember it was enjoyable but that's about it.
S8: another example of one cast member souring the overall experience for me. i didn't love Lou Sanders in this and i just can't be objective about it. Joe Thomas had some good moments i think.
S15: even though it's the second most recent series i can't remember much from it. nothing against the contestants but unfortunately i think something did not work and the comparison to S16 makes it look even more lacklustre in hindsight.

I enjoy Jeff Vandermeer's books too! Your post got me thinking, have you been reading much recently? Or thinking back on any books you've read previously? I'm reading Braiding Sweetgrass right now :-)
I’m reading Lord of The Rings right now. I’m about halfway through Two Towers. It’ll be my first complete reading of them. Never seen any of the movies either, so afterwards I’m going to watch those.
I read The Hobbit in middle school. And a year ago I read The Fellowship, but then I took a break before starting Two Towers bc I was busy. A month went by and I still hadn’t started it. And because I am who I am I wanted to start over from the very beginning.
I do like the books so far, but I’m not gonna lie they can be a slog at times. At times they feel a little like reading a textbook. I think they may be the kind of books I’d appreciate more when reading them for a second time? As it is now, I occasionally feel like I’m missing some information that I was probably told several chapters back and didn’t retain.

Part 2: Ethan
The last few weeks had been an emotional roller coaster for Ethan Ramsey. Between resetting his relationship with Cassie Valentine and instantly regretting it, his mother’s return from the void and clashing with his father over it, things started spinning out of control faster than he’d anticipated.
And then he almost Cassie to a freak accident and had to stand back and watch another man take care of her the way he couldn’t or wouldn’t allow himself to.
Ethan wished he could forget everything from the last few months and feel like himself again. He was too old for drama and jealousy, especially when he was the one to end things. Calm and in control. That’s who he was and what he needed to be as Doctor Ramsey.
He loved being a doctor. After completing his fellowship, he made a conscious decision to remain in a teaching hospital. He was more interested in research, but teaching was a requirement of his chosen career path. He could handle it in small doses.
So, when his colleague at the university asked him to fill in at the last minute for a week-long seminar on diagnostic medicine, Ethan agreed before he could think twice about it. It served two purposes — making a serious dent in the hours he was required to teach and getting away from his troubles for a few days.
A win-win situation as far as he was concerned, he thought as he neared Edenbrook around ten o’clock at night.
It had been a long week, and he should have just gone home after the faculty dinner. Instead, he parked his car, hiked across the breezeway connecting the parking structure to the main hospital wing and took the elevator to the seventh floor.
The hallways were quiet and empty, with the strong scent of ammonia in the air. The floors were recently polished, and he figured the nightly janitorial crew was done on this side of the building.
His steps faltered as he approached the Diagnostic Team office. The lights were on, and he spied a familiar blonde head through the glass walls. Cassie was sitting at the round table, flipping through what appeared to be a medical journal and making notes on her iPad. He knew she’d taken his earlier advice to heart about brushing up on research and uncommon diseases.
His time in the Amazon had been an experiment of sorts, and the results were in. Everything was clear, logical and monochrome when he was away from Cassie. Being around her short-circuited his synapses, but the world was more vibrant, a fascinating mystery he could spend a lifetime trying to solve and never come close to unraveling.
If he’d lost her last week. If she’d fallen over the atrium balcony before he could get to her. Before he could tell her…. Ethan shuddered at the what-ifs running through his head.
One person shouldn’t have this much influence over him, he thought. He tapped his access card on the reader outside the door and marched determinedly through the sliding doors.
Cassie looked up, startled, her eyes unfocused. She blinked the fog away, a smile spreading across her lips when she saw him.
“Hey, you’re back!” Cassie exclaimed.
“Observant as always, Valentine,” Ethan drawled sarcastically. “No wonder you got the diagnostics fellowship.”
He cursed internally when his acerbic tone wiped the smile away.
“I’m sorry,” Ethan said, sincere in his apology.
“About?” she said, watching him warily.
“Why don’t we start with my comment just now?”
“I don’t care about that,” she said neutrally, locking and unlocking her fingers. “Sarcasm is part of your charm. Otherwise, I’d worry you’d been taken over by the pod people.”
“It’s still not appropriate for an attending to speak to a resident that way,” Ethan said, folding his arms across his chest and leaning against the desk.
Her wariness returned.
Will you always remind me of the difference in our status?” she asked, eyes swimming with emotions he couldn’t read.
“Cassie…” he sighed, unsure what she wanted from him. “Attendings are resp —”
“Responsible for the training of residents, neurochemical responses, blah, blah, blah,” she finished dismissively. “I remember what you said, Ethan.”
“I don’t recall saying blah, blah, blah,” he mused absently, but she ignored him.
“After everything that happened this past year, the promises we made to each other, how can you still believe that?”
“Don’t speak to me about promises,” he hissed, the jealousy he’d tamped down rushing viciously to the top.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” she said, eyebrows raised in suspicion.
“Want to tell me about the man you’ve been seeing while I was away? The same one you went on a date with last week?”
“How dare you!” she exploded, pushing the chair back as she stood to face him. “I didn’t go on a date with anyone until after you dumped me.”
Cassie advanced on him, angrier than he’d ever seen her.
“I waited for you, even when you stopped responding to my texts and emails. But I still held out hope,” she fumed, stabbing a finger in his chest.
Her green eyes were fired up, and, this time, he had no problems reading her emotions.
“Am I supposed to keep waiting for you? A man who made it clear I’m so beneath him he couldn’t be bothered to let me know he was alive? Is that what you want? That I’ll beg you, again, by the way, to love me the way I love you?”
Ethan felt ashamed, every barb a direct hit to the heart, wounding his pride.
When Cassie poked him again, he flicked her hand away and hauled her up, his mouth descending upon hers. He poured his frustrations and inadequacies into the explosive kiss, forcing her with his lips to understand him, forgive him.
Rising on her tiptoes, her arms circled his neck, and she plastered herself against the front of his body. She moaned when his tongue thrust inside her mouth, the sound setting off a chain reaction he was helpless to stop.
Ethan slid his hands down to her thighs, gripping them tightly before cupping her bottom. He lifted her, never breaking the kiss, and carried her to his desk, caging her between his arms. She parted her legs, welcoming him closer, her feet locked around the back of his thighs.
He renewed his kisses with a hunger that came from within, from months of abstinence, of denying himself what he deserved. He gently but firmly grasped her chin, tilting her head back, and trailed kisses down her throat.
Cassie gripped the fabric of his shirt, her fingers making quick work of the buttons. His own tore at her scrub top, lifting it up and off, wanting to feel her skin. But the knit shirt she wore beneath for warmth got in his way, and he groaned in frustration, ready to tear the offending piece of clothing.
Desperate to have her, he pushed her back so she was half-lying atop his desk. The hurried movement sent pens, papers, keyboard and other paraphernalia crashing to the floor.
The sound was loud in the silence around them, and it had the same effect as a bucket of ice being dumped over their heads. He froze and stared at Cassie.
Shock turned to regret at the thought of being so out of control he’d forgotten where they were. Fumbling like a teenager, pawing at her with rough hands, uncaring who might see them through the glass walls. The gossip could destroy her reputation for life.
He eased his weight off her and nervously ran one hand through his hair.
“I can't keep doing this,” Cassie said, holding back tears, but he saw the disappointment in her eyes loud and clear.
Pushing his arms away, she jumped off the desk and bent down to grab the top he’d dropped on the floor. She quickly tugged it over her head and down, pulling her hair out from the collar.
Feeling uneasy, Ethan reached for her, only for Cassie to slap his hand away and step back.
“Don’t,” she sobbed, wrapping her arms around herself. “I don’t want you to tell me this was a mistake, that it shouldn’t happen, that we can’t ever be. That you regret us. I can’t….”
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Ethan heard her silently count to three, and then her eyes snapped open, full of unwavering resolve.
“Cassie, I—”
“I have to go,” she said, and ran out of the office before he could stop her.
Ethan watched her retreating back through the glass walls, not blinking until even her shadow was no longer in sight. He glanced around the office, the cutter on the floor, her iPad on the table and inhaled deeply.
Her scent still lingered in the air, her taste was on his lips, and the feel of her tattooed on his skin.
Cassie was wrong. It wasn’t a mistake, and he had no regrets. Not anymore.

Legolas makes more sense if he’s autistic
I recently re-watched the Lord of the Rings movies and I couldn’t help noticing how strange some of Legolas’s behaviour is. So many of his lines are unconnected to a broader conversation, and when they’re directed at others they often feel at odds with the scene.
Alternative theories for why Legolas is weird:
Bad acting
Bad writing
That’s just how elves are
I’m going to disregard the meta analysis for now, but there is a decent body of evidence that elves do not behave the same way Legolas does. In fact, I think his weirdness is camouflaged by being the only elf in most scenes. The other characters and audience members are more likely to attribute his behaviour to being an elf than to him being whatever the Middle Earth equivalent of autistic is. All the elf characters love being aloof and saying cryptic bullshit, but this is something beyond that.
Some evidence:
Flat affect, issues with empathy
Tumblr media
After Gandalf is believed to have died, the Fellowship is in Lothlorien where an elf choir sings a lament to Gandalf. Legolas tells the group that it’s for Gandalf, but then says he can’t tell them what is being said because the grief is too fresh for him. His facial expression and tone are extremely flat. He isn’t malicious and doesn’t seem to lie anywhere else in the series, which suggests that he really does feel so intensely sad that he can’t tell the others what is being said about Gandalf. The fact that he feels that level of emotion with an entirely straight face reads like autism. A few minutes after this scene we see Galadriel experience intense fear, and in some scenes Elrond is visibly angry, which suggests that low emotional affect isn’t a facet of the species. It’s unique to Legolas.
While it doesn’t make sense for him to be purposefully unkind, telling people that their friend is being eulogized in a language they don’t speak and then refusing to translate is an odd choice. Why tell them at all if he wasn’t going to tell them what was being said? It seems like he struggles to understand what the impact of that would be on others.
Poor interoception (understanding of one’s own emotions and body signals)
Tumblr media
During a drinking competition Legolas appears slightly confused when he discovers that he’s experiencing symptoms of drunkenness. Legolas has been alive for centuries. It doesn’t seem plausible that he’s never had a large quantity of alcohol before. We don’t see other drunk elves in this series so intoxication could be highly unusual for them, but it still seems odd that Legolas would be surprised by a bodily experience (tingling fingers) being connected to drinking. He only identifies a “slight tingling” as a symptom, yet his movements and speech are slowed in a way that suggests that he is more affected than he realises. He has just failed to pick up on what is happening.
Unusual social behaviour
Tumblr media
Aragorn shares a plan to help Frodo by diverting Sauron’s attention with an army. Legolas unhelpfully summarizes with, “a diversion.” He also smiles slightly after saying this, which makes it come across as genuine rather than sarcastic. Either he has wildly underestimated the intelligence of everyone else in the room, is voicing his interal monologue, or is making an awkward attempt to be part of the conversation. There is no evidence elsewhere of him considering the other characters stupid or of him voicing his thoughts aloud. This looks more like mirroring, trying to be part of the conversation by parroting back what someone else said. This statement adds nothing to the conversation except to get him involved, which may be the true goal.
Tumblr media
When Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli first meet Eomer, Gimli says something rude to him and Eomer says that he would cut off Gimili’s head if it were further from the ground. Legolas responds by drawing an arrow and threatening Eomer, which takes a tense but calm interaction and escalates it into a stand off. There was nothing about Eomer’s behaviour to suggest that he was actually going to harm Gimili. It was more about trading aggressive banter than an actual threat to Gimli’s life. It’s Legolas who unnecessarily escalates the situation and causes the Rohirrim to draw their weapons. He isn’t dangerously impulsive elsewhere in the movies, which makes me think he didn’t understand the interaction. He took Eomer’s words as a genuine threat and reacted as though Gimli was already in danger, which doesn’t seem to have been the case.
Conclusion
I’m of the opinion that a neurotypical Legolas is kind of a bad character. It makes it difficult to get a sense of his internal life, what motivates him or why he responds the way he does. So much of what he does and says seems like the writers and actor just didn’t know what to do with him. That may be the case, but if we re-interpret his behaviour as elf autism, he’s a more interesting and sympathetic character. I think we are always meant to interpret him as having a different brain from humans, but even the oldest and wisest elves interact more “correctly” with others. I’m not suggesting that Legolas was written as intentionally autistic, but so much of what makes him an erratically-written neurotypical character makes him a plausibly written autistic character.

[230303] ATEEZ are showing the world another side of K-pop by Taylor Glasby of i-D
Going stratospheric despite their small agency beginnings, the arena headliners discuss manifesting success and their secret ambitions.
ATEEZ have just played a raucous show to 20,000 fans at London’s O2 Arena. Backstage, with the adrenalin still pumping, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yeosang, Mingi, San, Wooyoung, Yunho and Jongho are talking about football. Mingi, deep-voiced, his cropped hair cotton candy pink, is a Chelsea fan. Jongho, the band’s youngest at 22, follows Spurs. “Which is better?” asks Mingi. My tentative, uninformed guess (“Spurs?”) yields triumphant hoots and disappointed groans, as Jongho reaches over for a fist bump and hi-five. This exchange isn’t so much about football, as it is a reflection of ATEEZ wanting to make everyone they encounter feel welcome – a habit unchanged despite their stratospheric rise through the global pop landscape since debuting in late 2018.
During their week-long stay, they meet fans (known as ATINY) at a signing event, make late-night TikToks beneath the glow of Big Ben, go live on YouTube from a cosy corner of a hotel room, and watch South Korean forward Son Heungmin score at a Tottenham Hotspur game. The club’s home stadium (soon to host Beyoncé’s five London concerts) leaves a lasting impression on Yeosang: “When I saw how big it was and how loud the people were, I thought about how I want to be an artist that can play there,” he says in his slightly raspy voice. Wooyoung’s thoughts, however, linger Stateside in the wake of their most recent EP, Spin Off: From The Witness, earning them a second Top 10 entry on the Billboard 200 in early January. “I don’t know if it’s a team goal or my own,” he admits, “but I do want a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Hoping for it to happen is the easy part, but what’s necessary is the confidence and bravery in the belief that it will happen.”
ATEEZ’ ambitious nature is an overarching constant to their rapid growth as individuals and artists, useful as both a touchstone of their success and a beacon for their creative output. It was present on their first record, Treasure EP1: All To Zero, which set up a rebellious narrative (now a complex and sprawling alt-world storyline) just as much as it drives their meteoric singles and the exploratory genre-overlaps of their B-sides. As a result, they’ve become a prolific and landmark group. The World EP.1: Movement (their ninth EP, out in July 2022) was ATEEZ’ first platinum-selling release, a major accomplishment for an idol group from a relatively small K-pop agency.
Hongjong, the band’s leader, thinks and talks fast (today, in English) but he pauses to take a moment to muse over their trajectory. “Many people say that I can be proud of being a group from a small company that has made their own way. So if we continually do it like this with ATINY, then in the future people might agree that ATEEZ have made a change in K-pop. I think for now though, we haven’t done enough.”
They hope, notes Seonghwa (the band’s eldest member at 24), that their achievements will eventually be on a broader scale. “We’d love to be the people behind that movement,” he says. Hongjoong nods in agreement: “I want for us to provide people with a better understanding of K-pop worldwide. There are people who continue to say that K-pop is so technical and manufactured but K-pop isn’t just a single genre; each group has a different type of art and I want to show how we express our art to everyone. When I look into the crowd at concerts, I can see so many people of all ages and backgrounds yet stereotypes against the artists and the fans still exist.”
In the early days of ATEEZ, it was evident that Hongjoong and Mingi played a key role alongside their music production team, Edenary, and that a sense of individualism seemed to be encouraged in the group’s performances. These are both now acknowledged as strengths in their arsenal. The Fellowship: Break The Wall, their third world tour, serves to highlight their unified stance while showcasing the members’ idiosyncrasies — from dance style to sense of humour — but also how comfortably they inhabit the stage.
“During our 2019 Expedition tour, we learned a lot about how to perform with every show we did,” says Yunho, an effortlessly impressive dancer. “Then during the pandemic, we studied and developed how to really make the performance; working on the stage configuration and synchronisation of moves amongst ourselves. When we came back to Europe and the US last year for the Fellowship: The Beginning of the End tour, we were able to see how everything we’d worked on and our personal growth came together on that stage.”
For some members, the process has involved looking beyond the stage in order to feel more at home on it. Yeosang’s regimented program of working out put him physically and mentally in a stronger place: “I relieve my stress while exercising, but my breathing got better and my muscles also got better, so overall it connected into a great result on stage.” San and Seonghwa also turned inward, sifting through mental libraries of borrowed or imaginary traits to build and inhabit new characters for their performances.
“I always have a lot of imaginative thoughts,” says Seonghwa, whose general serenity is replaced by a lightning-strike energy on stage and sparks of playfulness when you least expect it. “Even before sleeping, I tend to think about fantastical things,” he continues. “I use these to decide on how I’m going to be on stage and make sure the atmosphere matches with elements like my outfit.”
“For San, it’s movies and dramas [that inspire his performances], he takes those characters on,” explains Wooyoung. San, widely lauded for having an explosive stage presence, makes his creative choices the day of. “If there’s something I think of that I want to do that day, I share it with everyone to see if it will be okay. Then we create that image together and I simply express myself.”
Wooyoung, who is both mischievous and magnetic, looks to those he admires for guidance. “I mostly look at videos of our seniors – Jimin (BTS), Taeyang (Big Bang), Hoshi (SEVENTEEN), there’s so many – I get inspiration from them and make it my own on stage.” It’s a process also adopted by Yunho. “There are artists that I can pull from, like Rain, learning from them in order to realise my own style,” Yunho says. “On stage, it’s just me, I’m myself, but I have all this in the back of my mind.”
The title of their current tour, The Fellowship: Break The Wall, is derived from last summer’s single, “Guerrilla”, on which the phrase “break the wall” is chanted with increasing ferocity, culminating in a screamo-style vocal outro. It’s one of the show’s many high points, with ATINY putting their everything into screaming along with the band. The atmosphere grows feverish, the stage bathed in red light as the giant screens flash through the dystopian city of their storyline. It’s unbridled to the point of being transcendental. San grins, reflecting on this moment. “It’s difficult to explain,” he says of the experience, while Hongjoong sees in it the removal of cultural barriers through music. “I see ATINY during ‘Guerrilla’ singing along really loud and really tough,” he says. “They come to our show, they memorise our lyrics, they shout. That’s how they’re breaking the wall, by coming together.”
Since last October, ATEEZ have been playing arenas across Asia, the US and Europe, adding extra nights as they go in order to accommodate the demand, and garnering rave reviews — even from broadsheet media, for whom K-pop remains a confusing phenomenon — in the process. But their feet, heart and heads remain earthbound. “Nothing in this world is guaranteed,” says Wooyoung. “We’re always grateful for everything. It’s something we’ve discussed as a group, but it’s all thanks to ATINY’s love and support that we’re where we are now. To become global artists and a good influence on even more people, we have to hold a sense of responsibility to give our all on stage and deliver our truth. Honestly, it’s less about dreaming of an unknown future and more about how we have to work harder so we can go even higher and pave our own path.”
ATEEZ’ success is holistic in form: personality, performance and music. A harmonious but intriguing balance of authenticity and polish. Their impressive discography features recurring motifs (waves, moon, light) and ideologies (power, truth, rebellion, movement), yet Mingi and Hongjoong — who have written lyrics on every ATEEZ track so far — admit they’re still learning how best to combine what’s on their minds with what’s conducive to furthering their storyline. It is, they agree, not always an easy task.
“It’s absolutely hard to focus on so many themes,” says Hongjoong. “Sometimes my brain stops, so I watch movies or our music videos again. I think too much when I write but, after that work, the lyrics have more power for the fans who know our storyline; they get different emotions and a different effect when I’ve done that work well. It’s really hard but it’s important to do.”
Hongjoong had an epiphany when he picked up a camera while touring last year. “There's such fierce competition – not just in music but all industries – so if there’s no purpose, I’ve always found it really hard to create freely. We have continuous deadlines. I do the first album, then the second, and once I complete the second album I have to start on the third. I’ve found my hobby with a film camera. I walk around taking photos and I can see that even if I have no immediate purpose, I can create something.” It’s something that’s changed his approach to songwriting. “These days, when I write lyrics or produce a song, I just start from zero,” he explains. “Before, if we had a pirate theme, for example, I would start with that as a topic. That’s why I found it so hard.” He now works backward, getting down exactly what he wants to say before connecting it to the narrative markers. “It’s quite different but it’s more comfortable for me and the results are better than before.”
Hongjoong and Mingi, the group’s rappers, point to last year’s "Halazia” as the hardest storyline track to pen. “The atmosphere of the song is already quite difficult and complex,” Hongjoong notes, looking over to Mingi, who explains his process of cataloguing his many thoughts to later draw from. “I write down a lot of them as memos on my phone, so I always go back to them to see if they match what we’re going through (as a group); that’s how I write my lyrics,” he says. “Sometimes I’ll think of it as writing a script, to really get into that persona."
Mingi and Hongjoong are not the only collectors and creators in ATEEZ. “In my case,” says Seonghwa, “I always memo whenever I hear a line from a song or a line from a poem that I like, just for me to look back on. I’m the type to jot down my feelings if I experience something special. These help me when I write letters or want to say something to ATINY because I’m able to better word my feelings.” San, meanwhile, cites legendary South Korean poet 나 태주 (Ra Tae-joo) as an influence. “I love poems too — I’ve been writing my own but I keep them to myself,” he says. “They can be about my feelings on a certain day, the weather, objects or characters. I’m able to lay out my feelings like this.”
Now in their fourth year, ATEEZ remain as set on the idea of constantly challenging themselves as they were when they were hungry rookies. Take Jongho for example, whose rich, gut-punching vibrato forms the backbone of many of their songs. When he listened back to The World EP.1: Movement for the first time, he admits that he was “worried because my voice was used in ways that I hadn’t tried before, and I wondered how my vocal colour was going to fit”. He sat down with their producers and worked through “how we could still make it still an ATEEZ song and match my tone, while trying something new. I’ve gained more confidence — it makes me want to do better for all the albums to come.”
Hongjoong laughs. “It means our next albums are, uh, a big thing,” he reveals, knowingly. “There are so many good K-pop and pop stars that if we want to go higher, we have to have more good songs and try other genres, too.” But even as he muses on ATEEZ’ continuing expansion, the idea of one day becoming ‘too big to fail’ doesn’t appeal to him. “No, absolutely not that,” he says, gaze steady. “I want ATINY to be able to tell us if something is bad. I like it when they do this because we don’t want to just give them our popularity. I want to give them good quality, not just a song or a video or a performance.” Does the fact that music is subjective; that no single song can please everybody, bring some comfort? “We try to find the middle ground,” Hongjoong says. “The first thing to note is that if we think it’s really great but someone else says that they think it’s trash, then we don’t really care what they think. But when we’re unsure and questioning and someone says, ‘Yeah, it’s bad’, then ok, we go back to square one.”
The thought of ATEEZ honing their creative output through repeated baptisms of fire might well upset some fans, but the band are not only accustomed to the fame game’s highs and lows but wholly pragmatic in the face of its shadows. So when Wooyoung says he’s aware of “many people” who openly disparage their music, Hongjoong shrugs a little as he responds. “Yeah, there are. We talk about this a lot together, but if there are many more haters than before, it just means we’re more popular than before,” he reasons.
The group finds positive equilibrium via a heartfelt focus on ATINY, and all that comes with being an idol group who are years into a very successful career. “When we look at line-ups now, we’re closing the show,” says Wooyoung. “And as we perform, we see the other artists watching us, and we realise we have more responsibility. Firstly to ATINY, who have been loving us and supporting us from the start, but there’s also a responsibility to spread K-pop and Korean culture because we’re travelling around the world as Korean artists.”
One of ATEEZ many dualities is that while they have big, burning aspirations — Billboard charts, Grammys, performing at the Super Bowl — that make them look at each other starry-eyed, some of their ambitions are precious in a different way: they’re simpler, more immediate. “I’d like to be happier than the day before,” says Mingi. “And I want for us to never change our sincerity toward music and gratitude to our fans,” adds Seonghwa. This is echoed by San, who adds that ultimately, “I’d be satisfied if ATEEZ’ name came up when someone asks who the coolest artist is at the end of the year.”
“I want to make more events with ATINY,” says Hongjoong. “That’s a goal for this year because we always miss them and they always miss us.” Jongho, sitting in the middle of the group, is smiling. He’s been manifesting a more personal ambition. “By next winter I want to be able to snowboard,” he says. “I want to buy my own board, go down the mountain and not fall.”

Under Your Spell 💫🎃🍁 🔮
Eddie meets the new librarian, who he discovers is a witch. They find comfort in one another that turns to love.
Not sure how many parts this will be but this is just the first meeting. 💞
I don't give anyone permission to copy my work 💞
Tumblr media
Librarian, witch reader x Eddie Munson
💞❤
Yn had recently moved to Hawkins, for the last three months it had been her home and she was working in the newly built library.
Being surrounded by books was her favourite thing in the world and she loved the simplicity of being able to curl up in a comfy armchair, near a cosy fireplace and lose herself in one of her favourite works.
When her family first moved here she thought it was just a simple town, nothing exciting until she began to pick up the energy around the town.
She was the third witch in her family descended from her great-great-grandma and had been developing her powers since she turned sixteen with help from her grandma and mother.
One of her abilities was that she could sense the auras of people, places and Hawkins was a vivid orange that for a long time used to be blood red.
Death, decay then the blossoming of hope was felt around the town, she didn't know what had happened but it was big and it left its mark on the town.
She shakes the thoughts away and carries on with her task of cataloguing each book losing herself in the task, once she's done she plans to sort out the fantasy shelf as a lot of people have put other books on the shelf.
Then she's going to have a cup of tea and finish reading the grimoire that her grandmother passed down to her.
She read a lot of grimoires, loving learning about new ways to use her magic.
The library door opens and she peers up noticing that the cute guy who always heads to the fantasy section has come in again.
He spent a lot of time in here, he was always the last to leave and she knew his name was Eddie. There was sadness surrounding him and his aura was hard to pin down.
He made her heart skip a beat whenever he looked her way and she wanted to get to know him better.
💞
Eddie had been coming to the library for months now. He loved being here when he needed to quieten his mind.
Uncle Wayne and Henderson were great, they helped him after he survived the demo bat attack.
Nightmares plagued him most nights and he would wake up crying, picturing the way Chrissy's body was broken, her bones snapping. He shivers.
Sometimes he dreams that the bats killed him, that he was left in the Upside Down, and that Dustin and Steve didn't come back for him.
No matter how many times he told himself that Vecna was gone, that El closed the Upside Down for good, it still didn't help.
He would still have panic attacks from time to time and it was hard to get past some of them, he spent a lot of time strumming on his guitar, thinking up D&D campaigns and then coming to the library.
He loved the solitude here, finding a comfy armchair and reading for hours, working his way through the fantasy section.
Today he was craving some old favourites and wanted to read some J R.R Tolkien.
First, he would start with The Hobbit, then read The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He catches the eye of the librarian, she was eighteen he overheard her say to Joyce Byers, quiet, shy, beautiful...
He sighs, there's no way he could talk to her and get her involved in his shit. She knew nothing about the Upside Down so how could he even begin to explain what had happened?
💞
Once her shift is over she picks up the grimoire and finds the cosiest armchairs which are at the back of the library.
Eddie is sitting on one of the armchairs, lost in Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the ring. She admires him for a second, watching the way his eyes scan over the pages and he mouths the words, the paragraphs that he knows best.
He looks up, doe brown eyes softening as he notices she's watching him.
"Hi, sorry. You just looked so relaxed. I didn't mean to interrupt" or stare like an idiot she says in her head.
"It's alright sweetheart. I'm Eddie" he offers her his free hand that isn't clutching the book and she takes it feeling all tingly and his gaze widens.
"I'm yn" this is the longest conversation that they have had and she feels her heart race.
"Do you mind if I sit with you?" He nods and she settles in the chair opposite him.
She's itching to do her usual routine, light a few candles with just a flick of her hand, make some chamomile tea, and read up on some new spells that she wanted to learn.
Her favourite spells involved nature, she loved doing spells involving flowers, different plants, etc.
The newest magic she had been experimenting with involved potions.
"What are you reading?", Eddie asks her and he leans over quirking an eyebrow.
"Grimoire? Uh is that like witches? Spells?" he asks softly looking very curious and she is surprised by how relaxed she feels with him.
"Yeah, it's my grandmother's, it's been passed down from generation to generation" he looks even more intrigued now.
"Can you do magic for real?" he asks her excited and she giggles and conjures butterflies and an array of flowers.
He gapes.
"Jesus H Christ, I've seen some things in my life but I've never met a real witch, that's so fucking badass sweetheart"
She smiles at his reaction, she's had some bad reactions from people before when she tried to broach the subject and they just didn't understand or think she was joking.
"Some people think it's freaky, called me a freak, you don't even know me but you've been so sweet".
He places his book down.
"I know the feeling, been called a freak for most of my life" her heart aches as he says this because she barely knows him but she can tell how kind he is, there's a loneliness to him though, something she recognises in herself too, kindred spirits.
"I don't think you're a freak," she tells him and he offers her a sweet smile, showing off his cute dimples.
"I should get back home, my uncle Wayne will be wondering where I am, it's been really nice talking to you sweetheart" he picks up the book and she stands up wanting to bid him goodbye, kinda wishing that he could stay.
"Until next time milady" next time? There will be a next time? Her heart skips a beat as he takes her hand and kisses it gently.
She sees him out and he turns back to her before he gets in his van.
"Good night, beautiful" a giddy feeling envelops her and she wishes him goodnight, as soon as he has driven off and she has locked up she lets out a squeal that startles her cat Mr Pickles and she collapses on the armchair wondering if this feeling is what its like to fall for someone.

Thanks, bye bye!😊
Legolas dating a elf hc's:
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pairing: Legolas x fem!reader
Warnings: mentions of death, heartbreak, having children lol
words: 1.5k
Notes: tysm for the request! i didnt know if you wanted fem or gn reader so i went with fem but i can make a gn!reader one too. also im so sorry i didnt get the notification for the ask so i didnt see it until very recently<3 my requests are open and id love to recieve more! also theres a part that mention kids and if your someone that doesnt want kids or doesnt like them then you can go right ahead and pretend it doesnt exist. And remember to eat , drink water and get some good rest today, you deserve it(and shannah tovah to any jewish ppl out there:])<3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
being a elf and dating Leggo boy definitely has its perks
for one : his dad might approve of you
and secondly you never have to have the mortal and immortal talk, so yay!
growing up as the daughter of lord elrond meant you knew who Legolas was since you were born(if you dont look like Elrond's family just pretend ur adopted woop :] ).
you and every eleth in middle earth fawned over him
when you were younger you day dreamed of being a princess locked in a tower, one day he'll come and rescue you and take you away from the seemingly measly life you lived
he paid visits to Rivendell quite often , enjoying the company of you and your siblings
you had grown up with him around, always willing to teach you the art of archery or how to fend off any scary looking spiders.
but after the battle of the five armies he stopped fisiting Rivendell, something about finding the Dunedain rangers.
you grew up, and you missed him yes- but you convinced yourself that he was just a family friend- no one special.
boy you were wrong because then you meet him again when the council of Elrond happens and its like a freight train of emotions hit you in the heart
elves only fall in love once- its a very serious and dramatic ordeal, and you knew this was it.
you also knew that you could possibly die of heartbreak if he didnt return your feelings.
you assumed he saw you as a little sister, or had completely forgotten about you.
but then both of you had a talk in Rivendell, the night before you planed to head off.
he explained that he had fallen in love with you, he had always loved you but when he saw you again he knew it was romantic.
but he knew that the chances of either of you dying on this journey were very real and very possible
and although it would be very hard for the both of you, you decided to stay friends until the fight was over. it would save you a lot of pain and suffer if one of you did die though
but even just being really really friendly was not helping either, you still had a very strong connection.
he'll always make sure you keep up your health when on the road
"the key to staying healthy is to drink lots of water dear one"
"surely thats not enough food for you mellon"
always covering for you when its your turn to keep watch so you can get better sleep
and that all seems like very normal friend stuff but then...
the hair braiding
he will insist to braid your hair so you dont have to waist time doing it
he'll learn how you do your style and might even try some new designs he think would look pretty on you
you dont even know what to say, because elvish hair braiding is a sacred thing, usually you only braid the hair of your significant other or family members.
but legolas can be a bit dense at times, maybe he doesnt realize hes making this harder than it needs to be
you two always end up together , walking, rowing, wherever you are you two usually stray from the fellowship to have some alone time
you often find it hard to relate to the rest of the fellowship, being so diferent from them
but Legolas was the same as you, sometimes you feel like your the same person. so connected to eachother , finding such a peacful familiarity when your with him
gandalf thinks your friendship is absolute bs and he sees right through the both of you, hes practically your matchmaker always trying to get you together.
when you reach Lothlorian your grandmother, Galadriel knocks some sense into you
she tells you that your future will be bright and full of happiness if you can just get over your stupid friend-zone rule, but she does agree that the futre is uncertain and that you would probably die if he gets killed and vice versa.
the battles are rough but you never falter, you and leggy enjoy showing off your elven strength and beauty to the humans
you get hit on about a million times in Rohan and you can see its driving the elven prince bonkers.
if Legolas is ever injured which rarely ever happens, you are there to tend to the wounds
if he is restless you'll read or sing some elvish hymns for him to fall asleep to.
there's is nothing that can dampen your spirits when the two of you are together, even without the romantic side your happy just to be near him as often as you are.
you spend you wandering days discussing elven philosophers, teaching gimli elvish or connecting to the forests together.
when the final battle comes, you are plauged with fear
you pray and pray and pray that both of you stay safe.
legolas is the best warrior in middle earth , but you were not.
not to say you werent a skilled warrior, you were better than any man, hobbit or dwarf- but you were not Legolas.
what if something were to happen and he was left alone?
well you didnt have much time to dwell on that fact because you had won the battle and both of you must imidiatley return home to your fathers.
it wasnt fair, you were finally able to be together but noooooooooooo you just had to be separated until Aragorns corination
when you got home your father knew about you and Legolas, he said he had already had a vision of of your future together and he gave you his blessing
Arwen and your brothers were very very happy for you. arwen told you about her own romantic struggles and you bonded over the fact that you had been separated by your loves.
arwen said that the four of you should get married together, while unorthodox it sounds very exiting
you spend the few months at home planing to see Legolas again, weaving a new dress to impress him, finding a new hair braiding technique, picking apart yourself and making sure your perfect for your reunion.
you and Arwen are so nervous at Aragorns corination you can barley stand.
seeing Aragorn and your sister ruinite made you almost as happy as reuniting with Legolas
you cried, you hugged, you kissed
you met his dad and that was a traumatic experience in itself
but he seemed to like you, he respected your father and therefore he must respect you. Even though he thinks Elrond is senile.
getting married in Lothlorien, surrounded by the beautiful lights and trees, married by your grandmother and officially named the princess of Eryn Lasgalen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you leave your family with sadness but your beyond exited to see the greenwood
Legolas' kingdom welcomes you as one of their own and they are thrilled about having a princess
you spend a lot of time with Legolas but you also make sure to get to know your new home and its peoples
Legolas took you on a grand tour of the palace and the woods
you were amazed by the grand architecture, thinking you could spend eternity in Eryn Lasgalen, and you would.
you read up on the history of the Greenwood, learning about their customs and traditions.
you also make sure to visit the smaller less grand part of the kingdoms, visiting schools and hospitals.
to say Legolas is proud of you is an understatement
Legolas has to go to a lot of meetings and is busy a lot of the time, he feels so bad and the apologies never stop
but no matter how long he is gone he always makes it up to you
hell take you horseback riding and pack a picnic lunch to make it up to you
his father is honestly surprised at how in love the two of you are, you have been married for decades and still act as though you are in your honeymoon phase
when the two of you have your first child, a boy named Oropher[named after legolas' grandfather], Thranduil cant help but get reminded of him and his wife[and baby leggo too ofc]
Thanduil enjoys your conversations, thinking of you as a daughter he never had, and a good friend
he also lets you in on all the embarrassing baby Legolas stories he never got to tell anyone.
you end up having 5 children in all your years, three girls and two boys
some take after you more, others Legolas
you make excellent parents, teaching them the arts, sciences and ways of battle.
Legolas spends time with his children as often as he possibly can and is an amazing father
you love your life in the greenwood, its your home
but eventually the time of the elves is over and you and your family sail for Valinor, to be together forever<3
