Alice is compassionate.

The first time you meet her, you aren’t looking for it – you aren’t looking for anything at all. Weeks after weeks of hospital visits have exhausted you completely, worn you down to the bone. You’re sitting in a cheap plastic chair in a long, bright corridor, not a single thought in your head; all you want is just to curl up in your bed and sleep for fifty years straight. Maybe you’d still wake up tired.

That’s when you hear her sweet, concerned voice, asking you if you’re okay.

You’d assume a surgeon working a long shift wouldn’t be the one to chat, but surprisingly, you’d be wrong. She really wants to know if something’s the matter. People rarely come here for some happy reasons, she tells you. Whatever you’re feeling, it’s okay.

You cry in her arms for what feels like hours – in the arms of a complete stranger who keeps reassuring you, never once noticing how you stain her work clothes with tears.

Alice is a good friend.

It’s been a few months. You can’t remember the time when she wasn’t your friend, can’t imagine a life that wouldn’t include her. You meet as often as you can, talking about nothing and everything, sharing the things you wouldn’t share with anyone else. It’s like you’re on the same wavelength all the time; you simply get each other.

You keep reminding Alice that she doesn’t have to see you every other day. After all, it’s hard to imagine a job more demanding than hers – you’d understand. And every time Alice tells you that it’s fine. That she loves what she does and she loves spending time with you.

“I’d go crazy sitting at home all day,” she laughs.

Alice is loveable.

You collect the moments you share like you’d collect rare flowers, saving them between the book pages for later. Alice pulling you in a dance in her living room, giggling as you end it with a twirl. Alice showing you her new sundress, asking for your opinion about it with casual intimacy. Alice clinking glasses with you, stars in her eyes.

You think your friend is beautiful. You don’t allow your thoughts to go further than that.

Alice is valuable.

The last time you see her, Alice is venting about her boyfriend – all valid things, you must say, you’d be venting too. Your advice to dump him becomes less and less humorous every time you repeat it. Anyone can fall on hard times - not everyone turns into an entitled leech over that. She tells you it’s okay. Deep down he’s a really good guy, and fights happen. That’s just a part of life.

You think that “deep down” must be quite deep indeed, but you don’t voice it. She clearly loves him, and if she chooses to give him that love then he must deserve it on some level. Either way, it’s not for you to decide.

That night, Alice is wearing her favorite skirt and a big striped sweater. A description burned into your mind as you have to repeat it over and over later.

Alice is gone.

It happens overnight – nobody knows where she went and nobody knows what might’ve happened.

No, she didn’t have any enemies.

No, she wasn’t acting any differently than she normally would.

No. Yes. No. Thank you, that means a lot.

You put up posters with her face every day and cry yourself to sleep every night.

Her boyfriend is standoffish. He’s never liked you and sees no need to pretend otherwise now. You’ve always hated him, didn’t you? You never believed in him. All you wanted is to see them, true star-crossed lovers, apart.

Time and time again, you try to mend that bridge just so you can have the hope of ever finding your friend, but her boyfriend isn’t having any of that. You chalk it up to his wounded pride at first, never denying him the right to resent you. Yet something bothers you about it nevertheless.

Something is off. That’s all you can say and that’s all that you really need

Alice is nearby.

It takes time. It takes effort. It takes an ungodly amount of unimaginably awful podcasts, but you finally get the full picture. It’s terrifying, it’s impossible and it doesn’t make any sense, but it’s the only option.

After a few days of rehearsing the whole things in your head, you follow Jack – you’ve finally managed to learn his name – to what used to be his and Alice’s shared apartment. For someone trying to conceal a brand new human right violation, this man is incredibly careless. He’s so assured in his invincibility that he doesn’t even bother with varying his routes.

You know what you’re doing is illegal, but it doesn’t matter at this point. Doubt is a luxury you can’t afford, not anymore. The law has failed Alice and her boyfriend has failed her too; you aren’t about to do the same.

The door has three locks, yet they’re so shitty that you manage to bypass them all with a few tweaks here and there – you’re lucky today. Jack must’ve gotten sloppier with time. Or maybe he never cared in the first place. Who knows.

Doesn’t matter.

You pass through the hallway and enter the bedroom.

It’s a first time you’re seeing the device in action and, for a moment, you forget how to breathe. Gasping, you will yourself to look away from her, from what this despicable stain on humanity has done to her, and stare at Jack instead. He hasn’t entered the simulation yet, but he’s about to do it.

For just a moment, he stares back with fear and confusion in his eyes, and that gives you more than enough time to lunge for his throat.

You fly into a blind rage – one that you’ve never felt before and will never feel after. He tries to fight back, tries to crawl away, tries to plead, cry, scream; you can’t hear any of that. It’s all just noise, buzz in the air. You tear into his flesh with your bare hands, pulling it apart like a rabid animal. His hair is a perfect length to be wrapped around your fist.

You drive him face-first into the floor a few times before his body goes limp. You then do it some more.

You haven’t fought anyone since kindergarten.

You sit up and press your back to the bed frame, gasping for air. Your face burns and you can taste the metal – he must’ve landed some blows. Could be better, could be worse. You’ll live.

Alice.

With the shaking hands, you – gently, ever so gently – you take off her bounds and tie Jack up, just for good measure. It’s okay. They aren’t a part of the device anyway, not really. Those things that keep her eyes open, however, sure are.

What would happen if you just took them off? Would it hurt Alice? Would she survive? Would it cause some type of horrible, irreparable damage to her you can’t even imagine right now? You don’t know. Frank was careful to keep the details away from the general public – the only thing he, unfortunately, was kind of right about. His followers never questioned the inner workings of it all either.

So no way out but through.

Without hesitation, you put the second pair of these nightmarish goggles on, you stare at the changing pattern on the ceiling, you feel your mind go numb. It suddenly occurs to you that, as much as you’ve planned ahead, you really have no idea what you’re doing right now. You aren’t even sure if you’ll keep your memories or come out of this alive.

But there’s no point in wondering. Knowing the answers wouldn’t change anything. You’d try to save her anyway.

“Alice!”

She stands in the middle of a little-too-clean vintage living room, eyes wide, staring at you in numb horror. You realize that you must still be covered in blood – or maybe you aren’t, you’re so agitated that there’s no way to tell. Maybe you look perfectly normal right now. Maybe she’s simply scared of you because you’re a stranger in her perfect house, a stranger who snatched her perfect husband away.

You’ve thought that your tears have dried out completely months ago. For the first time tonight, you’re proven wrong.

“Do you… Remember me?” you ask in a shaking voice, stepping closer carefully. Alice is frozen in place, a weirdly vacant expression on her face. “Do you remember me at all?”

No response. You have no way of knowing what she’s thinking about, but at least she’s there. You’re grasping at straws, trying to come up with something, anything to say. Something that would convince her to let you help.

“Let’s get out of there. Please,” you plead. “If- When we get out of there, you won’t have to speak to me ever again. But please, let’s just-”

You don’t get to finish. Alice wraps you in a tight hug and you start sobbing into the crook her neck.

In a minute you’ll find out that Alice knows a way out – she’s had her own investigation while you had yours. In two minutes you’ll find out that at least one other woman here knows what’s really going on, always did. In five, you’ll leave this awful place behind, chased by a squad of things you aren’t sure are even human.

But right now, this very moment, is just for the two of you.

Alice is safe.

Time crawls at a snail’s pace, but after one day inevitably comes another. Both of you start therapy. Jack gets arrested – for some miraculous reason, you don’t kill him that night after all. The Victory Project comes under investigation; the details are kept under wraps, partly for “the benefit of the survivors’ mental and physical well-being”. You’re sure as hell there isn’t a thing in the world that can damage your mental and physical well-being even further, but there’s nothing left in you to fight this decision. This isn’t even an argument. It’s better to let it go.

You spend every night with Alice and she spends every night with you. You pour your hearts out to each other like never before. In a way, your friendship has changed fundamentally; in a much deeper way, however, it stayed the same. You cook Alice dinner when she comes home after a long day and she lets you sleep in on weekends. For a long time after the whole thing is over, she resents anything resembling housework. You can’t hold it against her.

One night, when you’re watching some endless TV-show - you’ve carefully curated your watchlist to avoid anything 50s-themed - Alice asks you point-blank if you regret it. The violence, the pain, the fear. If you regret hearing about him so much before everything went down, hearing Alice defend him as he was planning to take her life away.

Of course you know the answer. You’ve always known it: no, you don’t regret it at all. You’d go through it all a hundred more times if it meant setting her free. You’d search for months and years and decades if it meant finding her in the end. You’d beat this pathetic excuse of a man again and again, until there was nothing left of him anymore, if it meant letting her choose her own path.

And it’s not her fault that a person she gave all her love to never appreciated it. That’s on him. And Alice deserves none of his shame.

“But what if I left you?” she whispers, some unspoken urgency coloring her tone. “After… Then what?”

You look at Alice and she looks at you, her face illuminated by the TV. There’s a familiar, heartbreaking fear in her eyes that she can’t quite shake; worst of all, a completely understandable fear. You take her hands in yours.

“I’ve meant every word,” you whisper, brushing her knuckles with your thumb. “If we never spoke again, I wouldn’t do anything differently. I mean, I’d live a way sadder life, but that would be my problem.”

Just as the last word leaves your mouth, she kisses you as a promise to stay, to commit to you freely and without force. And you kiss her back, fervently, with endless yearning – as a promise to always find her, to always be there. To love and be loved generously, to love on purpose and to stay by choice.

And after what feels like forever, finally, Alice is home.

OC: Yen Ori'ken Alphabet: SFW Edition

Taking a break from writing about our favorite boys to get some inspiration for Yen so I can finally finish chapter 4 of Date Night

I used this alphabet template from @the-coldest-goodbye I included answers for both platonic and romantic relationships. SO! Here we go ...

Part Dathomiri on her mother's side with a long line of traditional matchmakers on her father's side, Yen moved to the heart of the Republic to make her way in the business world. Unsatisfied with the illogical and callus bureaucracy, she jumped at the chance to do some real good at Right to Love Matchmaking.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

ACTS OF SERVICE. If there's one thing Yen knows it's how to get shit done. If you're someone she loves, she's getting shit done for you so you don't need to worry about it. Her brain literally cannot comprehend someone telling her not to do acts of service for them.

She is also fairly physically affectionate, but in small ways. Yen is a quieter presence and she'll show affection with gentle touches - shoulder, back of the neck, top of the hand, or just standing a little closer to her partner or friend if she feels they need it.

But physical touch is also the no 1 way she receives affection (she just doesn't always realize she needs it cause she's way too in her own head).

When it comes to verbal affection, she says "I love you" fairly easily to friends and partners, but struggles with empathizing so she says "I love you" a lot just to convey that she's there for them. If they ask her advice or even just vent to her, she tends to get very opinionated in her responses -- ie, if you're struggling with something, it's very hard for her not to tell you how amazing you are and this you shouldn't be struggling. She's been told this isn't always very helpful, so she's learned to ask if someone wants validation or her real opinion. If they say the latter and get pissed, they're not friends for very long.

When it comes to affection with a partner, she isn't too into PDA - holding hands is sweaty and inconvenient, making out in public is gross to her. Hugging in greeting is ok, but more than that just not her vibe. In private? She's still not super sappy, but she does love a good side cuddle while she and her partner just do their own thing in the same space.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

If another person either approaches her, it'll take Yen some time to feel them out. But if she approaches someone, they'll likely become friends a little faster. Yen is attracted (platonic and otherwise) to competency and proactive thinking. She respects and responds well to people who see solutions beyond the problems. She really cannot stand learned helplessness or intentional ignorance.

When someone comes along who vibes on her wavelength, Yen opens up big time. No such thing as secrets with her, she'll tell you whatever you want to know. She'll also feel a lot more comfortable speaking her mind, where usually she's very aware of the "proper" thing to say. She's got a cutting sense of humor and is blunt (but not a "tell it like it is" person, she'll only do that when someone directly asks for her sincere opinion) so she usually falls in with people who can either keep up with her or soothe out her edges.

Either way, best friends with Yen means a LOT of sass and an ungodly number of BOMBASTIC sideeye. Bestie knows at once what each of these micro-expressions mean. But Yen's face cannot be quiet without extreme awareness and control. That control slips for any reason (alcohol or surprise are the big ones) then everyone will be able to see 80% of her thoughts. Friends try to help her keep her grip in public. Bestie sees the leash is off and says "GO TIME!"

But with Yen, there will always be tea spilt and shade served but she's also the best person to go to for a voice of reason and sound advice. She's a real ride or die kinda girl. She's the one you call at 3 am going "I need your help and you can't ask me why" and she'll say "bet".

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Yes. As I said, Yen receives affection in physical touch, but she's not the best at realizing that. She prefers at home/in private only, outside of extenuating circumstances. Yen will cuddle close friends who need it as well as her partner. She loves cuddles that still give her some freedom (spooning as the little spoon or butt to butt cuddles, side to side on a couch so she can read/use her hands/etc., touching feet from opposite ends of the couch). But every so often she'll need that full-body, nothing to do but let your thoughts go and enjoy the feeling of someone pressed against you kinda cuddle and a true partner for her is someone who's able to recognize that and help her recognize it, too.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Eh, so because of her family's profession, domesticity is always something that was expected of Yen. And to her younger mind, it looked so confining. She felt there were better ways to do good in the galaxy. But that was a bust.

Now, it's not so much the domesticity that calls to her, but the idea of being settled with a primary partner and a group of friends and family as her community that's what she craves. Life is chaotic and unpredictable, but the core of your life doesn't have to be, and that is very appealing to her.

Her ideal partner isn't someone looking to "wife her up" but rather someone with their own goals and ambitions who can slot into her life and live alongside her.

She can cook, she's kinda awful about cleaning but that's because she never lets things get messy to the point where she'd need to know how to get stains out or anything like that. But usually, she's so busy she just let's the droids do their thing.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

If she's breaking up with a partner, they should know it's coming. Yen will not bite her tongue for very long and be uncomfortable for someone else's sake. She'll have told them several times what her issues are, what needs aren't being met, etc. If they believe they're being blindsided, they haven't been paying attention.

She'll be very to the point. Not cruel or cold, but there's no apology or soft tone from her. "We've spoken about X, Y, and Z several times, but there hasn't been any change and I'm feeling taken advantage of, so I believe it's best if we part ways."

She'll be fair in splitting co-owned things. She likely won't move in with a partner until there are conversations about marriage as she's not willing to deal with the hassle, so she likely wouldn't have to coordinate moving out/moving their stuff out.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

It would take Yen a LONG time to get married. She'll fall in love fast enough (when it's the right person, she'll know because the wrong ones do. not. last.), but going any further than steady partner with their own apartment will take years.

Yen sees relationships succeed and fail each day. She knows it takes a lot to go the distance and she's not willing to put herself in a bad place for the hope it'll go right. She needs to see her partner prove it, and she needs to prove it to herself, too, through the mundane and the unexpected, through the good (for one or both) and the bad (for one or both).

But with the right partner? When Yen feels truly herself and safe with this person? Absolutely she would be thrilled to commit herself officially.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Yen doesn't have an edge so much as she's got a shiny steel backbone. It doesn't bend OR break, so a lot of people's first impressions is that she's a bit of a hard ass.

But Yen can be gentle for those she really cares about. It's not in cooing words, she's awful with those. But physically, it's a soft caress on someone's back, it's a gentle kiss to the crown of their head. In action, it's literally whatever you need or what she feels needs to be done but she's usually pretty good at respecting boundaries though that won't stop her from taking care of you however she feels she needs to.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

When Yen loves you, a hug from her is oddly maternal. Like, it feels like the acceptance and care you were always supposed to have. Maybe it's because she doesn't hug a lot - it's not her first thought. So you know when she hugs you, it's beyond sincere.

She does love receiving hugs more than she realizes day to day. (Also, her hands are thin, bony, and ALWAYS cold so hug with caution.)

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Pretty fast, all things considered. But Yen also acknowledges all kinds of love - familial, platonic, friendship, partnership, etc. Saying "I love you" is literally the only way she can wrap her head around expressing to the people in her life that they are important to her.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Yen doesn't get jealous easily. Certainly not over a partner. Her S/O is free to do whatever they wish because for her, a partnership NEEDS strong mutual trust. So she won't be flustered if she sees S/O at a cafe with another woman or dancing with someone else. But if they cross a line, that's a choice they made and she'll leave in a heartbeat, same if they're intentionally making her jealous. She does not have time for games like that.

She does get jealous if she feels she's being left behind/left out of a friend group, but that's really more just feelings of inadequacy than straight jealously.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Yen prefers closed mouth kisses with her partner. Tongues are unwieldy and she hates feeling slobber and spit all over her mouth after. She is pretty free with those kisses, unlike hugs. A romantic partner can expect a quick peck on the lips or cheek, the back of their neck if they're sitting, or the press of her lips to each knuckle if she's feeling particularly intimate.

She'll also be free with kisses to very close friends, on the cheek and top of the head.

When it comes to receiving, a forehead kiss makes her MELT. But if you wanna make her absolutely giddy (something you'll never really see otherwise), then we're taking rapid-fire small kisses peppered all over her face. You may even get a little giggle.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Hit or miss. She thinks kids are cute in theory. But in practice they're a little too unpredictable for her as a whole. She's best with little babies and older kids (10+). It's the school age ones with no boundaries, unlimited questions, unstable logic and execution skills, and massively misplaced senses of confidence that overwhelm her. But just like with matchmaking, it's all about balancing personalities and needs, so she'll try extra hard with her friends' kids and once they're better at communicating, she's Best Auntie (TM).

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Yen is most productive in the mornings. She'll wake up a little after sunrise, organize her to-do lists for the day, make some coffee and take care of little personal tasks to get her day started right. A quick breakfast and then she's off to work.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

She'll try to go out with coworkers or friends at least once a week (to prevent her from working overtime too many nights and because if she didn't schedule her social life, it wouldn't happen). But after a few drinks (never more than 3 or else she'll need help getting home), Yen will head home, shower, put on her comfy clothes and let the rest of the night be dedicated to relaxation.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Depends. It's usually slowly, but not out of self-preservation. Yen is used to being the one asking questions, so it's not really in her habits to share her own info unprompted. She'll tell you anything if you ask, though.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Yen has the patience of a saint for someone she can tell is trying their best. She has absolutely ZERO tolerance at all for someone half-assing shit and wasting her time. Or for rude/mean-spirited people. Or inconsiderate people. Or stupid people - not their actual intelligence, but people who act stupid or choose to be ignorant and make it someone else's problem.

She won't be like aggressively mean about it. But if you used up her patience, you'll be getting THE LOOK.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

Everything. If you're important to her, she's got a mental and likely physical file of information that's important. Your birthday, favorite comfort food, your emergency contact information, etc. She believes in being prepared and this way, she's ready for any opportunity to do something for you (re, show you she cares).

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

There's no one moment for Yen. She lives for the everyday, since that's real life anyway. If you genuinely make her every day better, then that's always her favorite moment.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Mama Bear is her only setting when a friend is going through something. You will need to tell her expressly if you do not want her acting on your behalf because she WILL fight for you. Physically not as much (though she's not above using her stiletto as a weapon). But she can weave within the confines of the law to get the outcome she wants on your behalf. She'll take on corporations, the Senate, literally any person or entity she needs to to keep her loved ones safe and happy.

(Listening to her verbally eviscerate someone on a holo call all without raising her voice or swearing is genuinely a terrifying but oddly comforting ordeal.)

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

So much. All the effort. Your favorite meal? She'll call your mother to get the exact recipe. What you taste will be her fifth attempt, because no way was she risking not practicing.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

She's too quick to judge. It's rare Yen will give someone a second chance once she thinks they're a problem and that closes her off to a lot of new chances/opportunities. When it comes to her romantic life, it affects new relationships (I know she's on Dogma's case in Date Night, but Yen rarely makes it to a second date herself. But then again, she's not the client) and old (you fuck up and hurt her in a way she told you not to? Curb, immediately. There is no couch option).

She's also stubborn as hell and very little can get her to change her mind. And is often too intense in her defense of others, and it comes across as crusading a bit at times.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

She isn't conceited, but she does like how she looks. I feel like if anything fundamental changed about her appearance, though, she'd struggle. Big time.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Yes and No. Yen prides herself on her independence and self-sufficiency. She doesn't need any one person to feel complete in herself. That said, she does love and rely on her community, with a few of them being key players and if she lost all of them, she would feel lost in general (but not in herself).

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Yen is acutely aware that her behavior isn't very feminine. She was told growing up that she was too bossy, too opinionated, not soft enough. So she really focuses on her appearance to make it feminine. She's not going to be rocking Barbie pink any time soon, but loves looking feminine and needs to to feel complete.

Her sense of style was very basic when she first moved to Triple 0, but friends and coworkers helped her expand her vision and experiment to find things that were feminine without being frilly and still very functional. Once she got that down? Everyone best get out her way.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

Bad hygiene. She cannot stand it.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

EPIC REFRESHER ROUTINE. Like, it takes her an hour and she has to do the entire process. But it helps relax her and it feels like she's pampering herself every night while taking care of herself. Just amazing.

She also usually wears soft PJs to bed (usually a silk set) but every once in a while, even if she's single, she'll ditch the jammies and just indulge in the feel of her sheets against her skin.

Hmm.... thinking of it now, I wonder if all these angels and demons are actually aliens and MC is an alien who wanted to be human because in the aliens' culture, humans are like deities, hence "I want to be holy".

It would be an interesting twist on how aliens are usually the ones being worshipped in some human religious institutions— that WE are the aliens in question being worshipped by an entirely removed and foreign species from outer space.

Aliens appear like angels or demons to humans because they utilize the human culture as well by taking a shape of form they would be familiar with— most cultures and religious have concepts similar to it, after all.

When that angel/demon attacked MC, it was noted that despite their wrist being torn, there are injuries at MC's palm— coupled with circuit board resemblace, I wonder if that creature wanted to expose MC's true nature. Why? I have no idea. Perhaps they wanted to save their brethren. Perhaps they didn't think anyone should try to be "holy" like "How DARE you even think you can have a place among our GODS, stop this masquerade IMMEDIATELY!!"

MC's emergence from underground also reminds of how in the 'War of the Worlds', it would be revealed aliens placed their technology on Earth long before humans came, waiting for the right moment to come out.

Io is the name of an ancient Greek princess who was once turned into a cow and constantly stung and chased by a gadfly as punishment from Hera for being Zeus' lover, but she would later be restored to her human form and become the ancestor to many heroes like Hercales (Hercules) as foretold by Prometheus— who is another Greek mythological figure punished for bringing fire (holy knowledge) to humans. The potential connections are.... interesting. 👀

It's mentioned "magic" is something some people are "genetically" able to use safely, and even that's not a guarantee you won't perish along the way. Maybe magic in question is the ability to use alien technology, or mutations/powers/vibes that came to Earth with aliens. Like them coming altered something within the magnetosphere or whatever and some people can use it for themselves before it starts to harm them because it's not what their bodies are used to. And the reason why MC can naturally, without seeming harm, is because, well, it's their species' own nature— why should they get hurt from something that is as natural to them as breathing?

Within all this theory, that makes Sanity/Divinity stat more of a Human/Alien stat— are you adapting to your new life as a human, being scared of the "unknown", of odd glowing creatures with sharp teeth, of stealing from someone else's garden because it's wrong and you fear criminal punishment, or are you slowly remembering your past as an alien, touching touchpads, getting close to your once brethren and communicating with them, enjoying the Garden of Eden and its forbidden inaccessible fruits like someone who got the amazing chance to get to the Realm of the Gods?

Of course, this is all just a theory— just because this is sci-fi doesn't mean religion and magic cannot exist side by side. Angels can exist next to aliens— that would actually be fascinating, actually.

Either way, in case it's not clear, I am crying screaming frothing in the mouth tearing my clothes apart over this story. I am eagerly waiting for the rest of the story. 🤩

Been pondering and pondering my deceased colleague. Realized that while I wouldn't say we were "friends" like, on a personal, private level - but people tell me I am thinking too much about exact definitions of that and what points exactly have to be fulfilled for that, while I think my autistic ass thinks about exact definitions exactly the correct amount lol - I now realized we were in the PROCESS of becoming friends, maybe? We got along and were on the same wavelength a lot and I just LOVED to have him in conversations. We just. Vibed.

And now we will never BECOME friends on a personal, not-work level.

When I think about all the "could have beens". When I think about the last decade of my life and everything I did and experienced during it and that he will NEVER get that entire decade or any other.

When I remember that on New Year this year, a former colleague of "us" from before my time at this work place had unexpectedly died. And how I was offering my condolences, even though I didn't know that person. And the exact colleague who is now dead looked at me and said "I wished him a Happy New Year and then he just died, make a guess how I'm feeling now" with this sad, desperate smile. And we won't see any other New Year together, either.

Okay so basically these two would absolutely hate each other

Oh god stoker swap Jon and Danny mean so much to me

They start out with Danny seeing Jon as his mentor, his work grandpa, even. They're seated at the same pair of desks, so Danny is officially Jon's Table Buddy(TM) so they're each other's go-to for help with statement research. Danny really respects Jon, since he gets the vibe he's been working with the paranormal for like a decade.

Jon is reserved at first, but opens up to Danny because he realizes they're actually very similar in some ways and it's kind of really refreshing to click with someone so easily.

Yes, I have definitely learned from this, and as rueyam said, I am also closer to myself, alhamdulillah.

Bless him though, he tried very hard. He is a good guy, and I hope he finds someone who can give him what he is looking for. I appreciated what he has done, and I told him that. Not gonna lie, from the outside, we looked good together lol. Like a random uncle who would send his blessing when we were walking, and another uncle from the last meeting gave us free drinks and blessed us. I could feel the people around us.

Anyways, unfortunately, I just couldn't vibe with him. I never felt a true attraction towards him. Thinking about our future as a married couple was hard for me to imagine: like living in the same house, our conversations still lacking a vibe, things feeling very formal, and even simple intimate gestures like a hug would put me off. I know myself, I can be talkative and laugh easily if I feel like I'm on the same wavelength as another guy, and everything comes naturally. I'm kidding. Well, I'm not, but I'll give a more elaborate answer too lol

With Bex, they obviously bond over Cammie while she's missing. I think it's passive aggressive at first and full of resentment. Logically they know that being Cammie's best friend and boyfriend are different, incomparable relationships, but in Cam's absence I think they're both like "You know her better" "No, you know her better". Ultimately, I think their friendship is a lot of banter, calling each other by their last names, and competing. They're who the other goes to if they need an argument or if they want to be challenged. They bond by pushing each other.

Liz and Zach give me 'little sister who is way smarter than her older brother' vibes. Zach's protective over her but also absolutely knows Liz is smarter than him. They bond over puzzles, I can see them passing crosswords and sudoku puzzles back and forth for hours. I think Zach is probably the best cook in the group so he can probably help with Liz's baking, "Think about it like chemistry. That's all it is." I can see her trying to convince Zach to do yoga. Or meditate. She probably tried to convince the girls to as well but Zach actually does it, at least once, to humor her.

I think Zach and Macey are really easy friends. One because Macey has this ability to just click with people really quickly (when she wants to) and two I think they're quite similar. Where Bex and Liz went around and around about Zach, Macey kind of always saw him, and his relationship with Cammie, for what it was. Her and Zach are the most realistic in this group imo and just kind of hide behind fatalism. They could bond over their shitty relationships with their parents and they probably do. But I think they're often just on the same wavelength. If they're in a room together and someone says something stupid they immediately look at each other. They have full conversations through facial expressions. They're super quick to either finish the others sentence or have a quip going off it and then it's a back and forth. Do not get them started or you'll see Cam, Bex, and Liz groan.

I have an issue with the Adopt A Newbie clan. When I first joined I didn’t get “adopted” and I didn’t see anyone else really get “adopted” during that time either. And when you ask questions because you’re new they’re not always the most helpful and nice. Doesn’t make sense to have a clan to help newbies that kinda doesn’t? (This might have changed because I don’t check the discord often)

Also, Vermax rubbed me the wrong way. He’s on the same wavelength with Jester as being an entitled prick. He doesn’t complain constantly about the game, but if he gives “advice” it turns into something all about them constantly. Oh my statter this. My side this. Blah blah blah. CONSTANTLY. I’ve also seen him talk shit about other statters 24/7. But he won’t group his statters into the same categories. Also, what’s with not accepting a Muk?

Also, they were like I’m the only statter that roles everyday. Except the stopped for awhile because of “work” even though they roll their side everyday. They’re just waiting for the November event.

They’re just bad vibes all around.

he's just go [clenches fist] I'm a sucker for lore heavy characters. my favorite characters tend to be like. the way a kid's favorite doll is probably the one with the most accessories. he gives me a lot to work with and explore in terms of story and personality which makes him very fun for me.

his fanon </3 it's so bad they absolutely massacre him. I feel like people fall for his carefree front way too easily and fail to see any depth beyond the surface.

Like I think Venti's mortal form is that of an adult, but it seemed to amp up Lisa's marternalness in comparison to him and was just really weird and freudian. not a fan.

I think he refuses to drop his mortal form completely because he's afraid of forgetting how to turn back into the nameless bard :^) he hasn't allowed himself to be a windsprite in years.

unpopular opinion

I don't think he's irresponsible or incompetent like many people think. I think he specifically puts up a front of carelessness and weakness so people underestimate him, and at the end of the day he's been shown to intervene when his people need the help.

I also think he's stronger and smarter than people give him credit for. Considering his massive sleeping episodes I do think he does have some vulnerabilities, but when Signora took his gnosis he was freshly awaken. He's displayed huge feats of strength in the past and is partial to trickery, so it makes me think he has some sort of strategy going. He's not Celestia's biggest fan either!
