#but the idea of Severus being in love with flowers warms my heart
Text
It's late I know but I literally cannot stop thinking about the idea of Severus being in love with flowers. Like it's such a cute thought and I absolutely love it.
Also I had heard about a place called "Sea of flowers" which is located in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province Holland.
Now my mind keeps picturing Severus going there with Petunia and their daughter who they named Tulip (and y'all can pry this au out of my cold dead hands)
The sea of flowers has so many tulips that Severus explains to his daughter that this is why they named her tulip, plus it's also where Petunia told him that she was pregnant.
They go there every year on her birthday and soon enough Tulip gains a fascination with flowers. Now Petunia has two people in her life who are in love with flowers.
When Tulip becomes a teenager she gets a summer job at a flower shop. Once she graduates from Hogwarts her parents surprise her with her own flower shop.
So now Tulip runs a flower shop along with her parents, Severus & Petunia.

Snarry Soulmates Recs
No promises that I've never recced anything on this list before. As a matter of fact, I know I have, but one can really never give a good fic too much love. And hey, be proud of me. There's recs on this list with no smut at all! In no particular order, they are:
The Gift of Kindness by hippocrates460 (E, 105k)
Thoughts: Y'all I'm gonna preface this by saying this is my favorite fanfic of all time. I'm serious. I have a tattoo inspired by it. That's permanent devotion right there. That said, the theme of this fic is so heart-warming that it is a favorite for comfort rereads. Severus is softer in private here, and his devotion to Harry is absolute. If you're a hopeless romantic, this is the fic for you. The courtship rituals are gorgeous and really an overarching backbone throughout the story. I could wax poetic about this fic for ages, no lie. It is always my first rec for anyone if they love Snarry, and it's also the one I dangle in front of people who are willing to give them a shot. It's perfect. You really can't go wrong here.
Soulmate Flowers by Lilian (G, 4k)
Thoughts: This was absolutely, bewitchingly lovely. I was captivated by the concept, enchanted by the content, and I'm smitten with the ending. Stunning work. Hippocrates460's companion piece for it, Bloom, is also phenomenal. P.S. Lilian has several soulmate fics, and they're all amazing. So check out the rest of her stuff.
Corresponding Shapes by bleedcolor (T, 5k)
Thoughts: My comment on this is a rambling mess of devotion. bleedcolor manages to convey what feels like a rewrite of canon in 5.5k. She is a magical being or made a deal with the devil. I can't quite decide which. Harry is exquisitely written in this, and I just went to pieces at the end. Loved it!
Succor by pluperfectsunrise (E, 40k)
Thoughts: This was my first ever girl!Harry story, and it remains my favorite. I appreciated the issues a female Harry would have to contend with that a male Harry would not growing up. The author handled those with a delicate touch, and I related to the character in a whole new way as a result. She was beautifully written, and Severus was as well. This did my favorite trope justice, and it was just a fantastic read. pluperfectsunrise is amazing in general.
World Enough, and Time by Likelightinglass (T, 6k)
Thoughts: I absolutely loved it. The idea of a countdown has always struck me as incredibly morbid, and in reference to Harry and Severus specifically as quite tragic. The author worked it into the framework of canon quite well, and the moments that were all their own were wonderfully emotive and touching. The angst was real and made my heart hurt, but I can always count on Light for a happy ending. This is a must read if you like soulmate AUs.
A Universe of Searching Souls by Writcraft (E, 9k)
Thoughts: I thought that Harry's reaction to having a matching mark as Severus was typical for him, ignore, avoid, put it off. Hah. I had to laugh when he had to hunt Severus down because he lived in the middle of bumfuck nowhere because he's a grumpy sod who dislikes people in general. Everything by Writcraft is magic, so you really can't go wrong here.
Waiting to Divide by emynn (E, 22k)
Thoughts: I keep saying I don't like time travel that much, but it keeps popping up and I keep loving these fics against my will or something. I mean, it's also a soulmate fic, so there is that. I also love emynn in general. The time portal gimmick is neat, and Harry really does have lovely friends. I cried at one point, but I'm a big weenie. I absolutely rec this when all is said and done. I loved it.
Immortal Claim by ladyofsilverdawn (E, 18k)
Thoughts: The murders lent an exciting bit of intrigue to this story, and the sexual tension between Harry and Severus was electric from the very beginning. The descriptions of the art and the buildings was particularly vivid. I very much enjoyed Harry and Severus' dynamic in this, and the smut was delicious. I definitely recommend this one. I enjoyed it a lot.
Tears of the Sun by Eriador117 (E, 66k)
Thoughts: This was so good! I devoured it in like a day and a half. I love bond fics, and Severus rescuing Harry from the Dursleys was a nice addition to that trope. The idea of him being raised afterward in a loving home with the Weasleys, who were basically his adopted family in canon anyway, was so sweet. It was my first time seeing a fic where Harry went to a different school and had such a different experience in general, though I know there are others out there. I still thought it clever and original, and I enjoyed the whole thing immensely. It does have some graphic descriptions of child abuse, so definitely mind the tags.
Pentamerone by ripeteeth (E, 15k)
Thoughts: This is a resurrected classic from a pillar of the Snarry writing community, and it is a thing of beauty. The prose is poetry in motion, truly, which is a hallmark of the author's style. I was glued to this until I finished it, and I had fic hangover for a few days the first time. 15k did that to me. I don't honestly know how to adequately describe how much I love drawlight's way with words. Read this. Read anything by this author. It's an absolute treasure.

Love Is You - chapter 11
A/n: hopefully this is gonna be posted… It was very stormy and the power is off for hours because of it. I tried to create a moodboard and i am trying to post it but even my own data is not working very well, the storm was that bad and probably damaged something… I deserve some comments after trying that hard to post that😂
Tumblr media
Christmas was around the corner, but Scarlett wasn't as excited as she used to be even it was her favourite time of the year. She was planning to celebrate it with her kids but apparently, they had other plans which she found out quite late. Sirius has invited Leo and Remus over for a boys Christmas celebration and Carina would celebrate it with her boyfriend's family this year. Actually both of the kids have offered to stay with her but she didn't want to ruin their plans for her own enjoyment. Then Scarlett thought to spend the day with her parents just like the old days but it turned out they have already booked a holiday, they would be in Switzerland during Christmas week. So this plan has cancelled too for her. Normally she wouldn't mind staying alone but on special days she would like to have a company, especially this year she needed it more. Scarlett thought if she could invite someone over for Christmas but she didn't have many friends and the ones she had already married and would celebrate it with their families or they were living in abroad. Then one possible person came to her mind but she wasn't sure if he had someone special to celebrate the Christmas with. But she wanted to give it a try and wrote a letter to Severus and invited him over for dinner.
Christmas had a special place in their relationship. They have started dating on December, couple of days prior Scarlett's 18th birthday then she has invited him to her house for Christmas break when she found out he would stay at Hogwarts and with that he could meet with her parents. And the best memory of that Christmas was the present that Severus gave to her. He has got her a white British long hair kitten that she fell in love with immediately. Severus has gotten that idea since Scarlett was such a cat lady and actually she was a cat herself as an animagus, also she has told him about her late cat who passed away a year ago. Scarlett has named the new kitten Pearl and she has become basically their baby and in the summer of the same year they got another kitten together and named him Paul. The warm feeling of the memories made her smile, these happy memories has become her comfort zone lately.
It was the Christmas evening and the kids were ready to leave while Scarlett was busy decorating a cake. Leo and Carina came to the kitchen to say goodbye to her.
"Mum the cake looks delicious but isn't it way too big just for you to eat?"
"I will have a friend over, i won't be alone."
"Oh you didn't mention that. Now we don't feel as guilty for leaving you alone. Who is coming?"
"Professor Snape."
The kids exchanged looks for a moment. They still haven't said anything to her about the trunk so she had no idea that they know about her past relationship with Severus Snape.
"It will be great for you two to remember good old days, I am sure you have missed them. Have fun!"
Scarlett looked at Carina rather suspiciously after what she just said. She was asking and talking a lot about Severus and her lately. "Thank you... Are you leaving?"
"Yep, take care and don't drink much mum."
"Okay mother." Scarlett rolled her eyes at her daughter. "You two have fun and say merry Christmas to everyone from me." She kissed their cheeks goodbye. "Love you."
"Love you too mum, bye!" Carina and Leo both apparated at the same time, leaving Scarlett by herself.
She did the final touches on the cake and put it in the refrigerator to set. Now she needed to get dressed before he came. Scarlett decided on a velvet bodycon dress which is off shoulder and its emerald green colour was complimenting her copper red hair beautifully. She brushed and styled her wavy hair and finally put her signature red lipstick. Scarlett looked herself in the mirror and enjoyed her view truly for the first time in a while. She hasn't dressed up fully for a long time and she has missed seeing herself like this.
The knock on the door took her away from her thoughts. She rushed to the door and took a deep breath before opening it. When she opened the door and saw him standing there with a winter bouquet and wine bottle in his hands. It was such a coincidence that he has picked a velvet emerald green jacket to combine with his black trousers and shirt.
"Welcome Severus, come in! It is snowing outside."
"Hello." He smiled and entered the house once he lived in together with her, handed her the bouquet and the wine he brought. “These are for you.”
"Ah thank you, the flowers are so pretty!" She inhaled the flowers’ scent.
"Not as pretty as you..." Severus couldn't take his eyes off of her, Scarlett has aged like a fine wine.
She blushed lightly at his statement and looked away from him. "You can directly go to the dinner table; we better eat them before they get cold. And you know what, i cooked everything by myself, no help from the house elf!"
"Today is the big day then huh? You are showing me your improved cooking skills?"
"Oh yes today is the day!" Scarlett giggled while they were taking their seats.
He looked at the small feast that she prepared for them. It wasn't a classic Christmas feast since both of them were vegetarians but everything was looking more than perfect.
"I must say, i am already impressed Scarlett. Everything looks and smells splendid."
"Everything tastes splendid  too, i guarantee." She winked at him. "Help yourself, bon Appetit!"
After the dinner they moved to the couch with their drinks in hands. Severus has really enjoyed the foods even he admitted that Scarlett's cooking skills have moved from 1 to 5 point. Scarlett was more than happy to hear that because cooking wasn't her best skill at all.
Hours have passed and they have talked little bit of that and little bit of this, ate the cake Scarlett has baked and listened to some music from the record player. After 4 glasses of wine, Scarlett had an unnecessary amount of courage and suddenly asked him if he had anyone in his life even though she wasn’t sure if she wanted to hear the answer. Severus wasn't expecting that question at all but he had the answer.
"No, i don't." Severus finished off the wine in his glass. Starting a new relationship didn’t even cross his mind after their breakup. It was either Scarlett or no one for him.
"How come you are still single? You would make a great husband, i am sure."
Severus sighed and shook his head. "Scarlett, you are the only one who value me, every part of me that i don't even like myself... And i am so stupid that i let you go..." He wasn't planning the say those things but they did flow from his mouth, apparently wine has affected him too. But he didn’t care, if they had to do the talk they would now.
"I didn't want to go, you left me..." Scarlett whispered while playing with the wine glass. He hasn't even given her a proper reason, just left her. "Why did you leave? I deserve an answer Severus... It has been years, won’t you tell me still?”
Severus still didn't want to tell her the reason, he was sure it would make Scarlett very upset but he knew he should eventually. The reason has made sense to him at the time but the moment he broke up with her, Severus has regretted his decision deeply but he couldn't turn back because he has thought she wouldn't want him back anymore after how much he hurt her.
Severus took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly, this talk wouldn’t be easy at all for both of them. "I will tell you but please let me finish it before saying anything… You remember that nightmare-like times between us and Sirius… I have visited Sirius when he was at the hospital after his suicide attempt, this was before your dad informed you about it. All he talked about was you and how much he loves you, how much you mean to him. And i thought maybe he loves you more since he tried to kill himself after you cut the ties with him, because of me... Scar i don't know, i just thought that he could give you more things than me and you deserve the best so i decided that you would be happier with him than being with me... Don’t look at me like that…"
Scarlett couldn't believe the things she just heard. She has always thought that he fell in love with someone else or he didn't love her anymore. "Severus, that is the stupidest thing i've ever heard from you... Didn't i show you enough that i was in love with you deeply and i was so happy with you...? I didn't want anyone or anything else but you Severus. I loved you… but apparently you didn’t love me enough…"
“That’s not true…” He couldn't dare to look into her eyes or say anything else, the words stuck into his throat. Now he knew it is a stupid reason but as a young boy it made sense to him. Severus has never thought a beautiful and rich girl like Scarlett would be his friend, let alone be dating someone like him. And there was Sirius, Hogwarts's most handsome boy and Scarlett's lifelong best friend, plus he was in love with her like crazy. Sirius looked like a better fit for Scarlett rather than himself, he never felt confident against Sirius, Severus didn’t have the looks nor the money while Sirius had both. But now looking at Scarlett and Sirius's divorce, it was clear that his thoughts were nonsense because he would never cheat on Scarlett, ever.
"Severus...?"
Scarlett’s trembling voice brought him back to reality from his thoughts. Severus looked into her tearful eyes, she always told more with her eyes and Severus liked that silent communication but now her eyes had an effect of a dagger and stabbed his heart. Then his eyes moved to her red lips and unconsciously he leant into them ever so slightly but he pulled himself back in the next second he noticed what’s he doing, he shouldn't have kissed her even he wanted nothing else. Scarlett was the same; her heart was wanting to kiss him but her brain was saying it's not a good idea at the current situation.
"I better go... Thank you for the dinner." Severus stood up to leave suddenly;  If he stayed any longer, he was scared that he wouldn't control himself and the conversation had a tool on both of them.
Scarlett just nodded, she still couldn’t process the things Severus revealed. "Good night..."
"Good night Scarlett..." And he vanished in the air.

Firewhiskey
Chapter XVII
Tumblr media
“Alcohol is not a solution,” Snape reminded you as you both entered his office.
“I know,” you sighed, placing a large bottle on his desk. “I’m just so tired, Severus…” You took your regular place in the armchair, where a wool plaid blanket was folded a little sloppily – the way you left it here the last time. So he didn’t even bother putting it away anymore? Although Snape just lit the fireplace and its heat didn’t yet reach you, you felt so warm like never before.
“Yes. You are,” he agreed, focused on uncorking the bottle. “Why would you have firewhiskey in your possession?”
“I don’t know,” you smiled apologetically. “Bought it the day you refused to go to Hogsmeade with us.”
“Is it a vivid example why I should’ve agreed?” he smirked now pouring the spirit into two glasses and you laughed.
There hardly was a place in the whole world which offered you this kind of comfort and consolation, but this cold room with the dark figure of a man smoothly pacing around. Wrapped yourself into the blanket, you relaxed in the softness of the cushions.
“Quidditch Through the Ages,” you leisurely read the title as you noticed the book on a side table. “So now everything comes together!”
“What exactly?” Snape handed you the glass and sat across from you.
“You were to be heard in the Entrance Hall,” you giggled. “Why did you take it from Potter?”
“Well, I wasn’t in a mood,” he said apathetically, wobbling his glass and watching the liquid rotating inside. You couldn’t discern if he was joking or not – it was so likely of him to consider it a fair reason to do so – anyway, his answer amused you, same as his serious look.
“Have you ever been?” you teased, and he answered with a displeased curve of his lips.
“So?” Snape leaned a little forward.
“I’m drinking for you,” you declared, not a trace of your former gaiety remained. “I’m so happy I met you, Severus. You can’t even imagine…”
“Slow down,” he smiled softly. “Too early for confessions.”
“You know I mean it!” you insisted. “I’m telling it before I take the first sip, and I will tell it after taking the last!”
“I know,” his voice so quiet yet so deep. “And you do know I feel the same, don’t you?” The words being extremely alien to Snape’s enclosed character, the words he never dared to say aloud, struggled their way out. He’d prefer to keep them to himself, but he couldn’t leave your sudden ingenuous impulse without an answer.
Your heart skipped a beat each time he acknowledged his reciprocity towards you, although he never said it directly. You nodded, blissful to be ascertained of his fellow feeling again, and reached out for the man.
Mild sonorous clinking broke the silence once your glasses struck against each other.
“How did you get here?” you asked randomly, intending to divert depressive thoughts by some neutral topic, but Snape – unlike what you’ve expected – now looked gloomier than before.
“Dumbledore offered me a job,” he answered with a sigh after emptying his glass.
“Is that what you wanted to be at the age of…”
“Twenty-one,” he finished, filling his glass anew. You tossed yours closer to him to be refreshed with a drink. “All I wanted at the age of twenty-one was being dead.”
“Not much has changed since then, huh?” you smiled sympathetically, and he snickered. Yet again you managed to liven him up.
Another shot followed. Having no crumb in your stomach since lunch, you felt alcohol quickly take over your body, spreading fatigue through your limbs, while your mind still strained to preserve the clarity of thought.
“Did you know each other before?”
“I was studying here. So, apparently, we did.”
“You should’ve really loved it here to return inside the walls of your alma mater?” Recalling your time at school you dreaded the thought of stepping on its threshold ever again.
Snape lowered his head, peering at the brownish fluid in his hand. “It’s complicated.”
“Yeah. I’ve guessed there’s a mystery behind all this.” You felt so terribly sorry for him all at once. There clearly was something he couldn’t tell you, but he did his best to be as honest with you as the circumstances allowed, or his obligations, or whatever else it might be. What the hell it might be?! The thing gave him no peace, torturing his heart, it was evident – judging by his rare bitter remarks; and you felt so helpless not knowing how to ease his mental torments. “Don’t worry, mysterious Professor Snape,” you reassured him in barely a whisper. “I won’t ask questions.”
“I wish I could tell you...” he hopelessly shook his head, afraid you might turn away from him sooner or later – no one would tolerate reticence for long.
“We don’t have that much firewhiskey, do we?” you smiled kindly slowly draining your glass.
“You should be prepared better for the next time,” thankful for your patience and understanding, he gave a short, half-suppressed snigger, and you laughed loving the idea.
“Oh, I will! You know me!”
“I don’t even doubt that!”
“Wanna know what I wanted to be after school?” guilt-driven for involuntary making him feel uncomfortable, you changed the subject, hoping to put some spirit into the man, yet your glance gained a spacey glint. “Hats designer!”
“Hats designer?” Snape chuckled, a slight haze enveloping his head.
“Yep. But somehow ended up being a scientist.”
“What a loss for the fashion world,” he said deliberately unimpressed, but a sly narrow of his eyes betrayed he was ribbing you.
“Heey, don’t you dare question my artistic talents!”
“Or what?” he provoked you further.
“Or I’ll tell Minerva you assumed no one would notice if she replaced the hat she usually wears with an old Hagrid’s shoe!”
“You can’t blackmail me with a commonly known fact,” he replied in a bored tone, which made you burst into laughter.
“Aw, Snape, you’re such a bastard!”
“I’ll take it as a compliment,” with a smug grin, he raised his glass and polished it off.
Snape rested beside you. All of his troubles seemed to step aside when you came around. He wasn’t expecting any kind of cunning, deceitful tricks from your side and could fully relax in the solace your presence comprised. Alcohol helped him loosen up even more, but he still had things under control. You, on the other hand, let frivolity take the lead.
“I was young and naive,” you tilted your head on the backrest, reflecting on a girl you used to be. “Ah, where are those days?”
“You’re still very young,” Snape smiled softly, admiring your features, which he found so alluringly attractive. But it wasn’t appearance that captivated him – something much deeper than physical perception forcefully drew him to you.
“It’s not the point,” you sighed. “Our bodies are aging, but we never actually grow old.” You gulped the rest of firewhiskey left in your glass and looked closely on its empty bottom. “Somewhere deep inside there sticks a child inside each of us. A child with a flaming hope, still believing all of the most fantastic dreams will jolly well come true... Add me some?” you stretched out your hand to receive a new portion of drink.
Snape unhurriedly provided you with another shot.
“Do you regret becoming what you are?” he let the question slip off his tongue.
“And you?” you gave him a pitiful glance, already knowing what he would say.
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“But it’s not too late for changes, is it?” you asked uncertainly, mainly, not to cheer him up – which, nevertheless, was also your intention – but hoping he would agree, so that you too could regain confidence there still was a chance, but Snape silently finished his glass instead.
“The Dark Lord might return any time soon. This is currently my main concern.”
“You’re right. Forgive me, I’m just saying whatever comes to my mind,” you smiled weakly. “My tongue works faster than my brain.” The setting of the room started slowly swaying around, causing a sick feeling in your stomach. You seemed to run out of the last bits of energy – another few minutes, and you’d find yourself balancing on the edge of oblivion.
“Do not apologize,” Snape leaned forward, took the glass out of your hand and put it aside. “What is it you were dreaming of? Will you be willing to tell me?” he asked quietly, his voice so pleasant to your ears.
“I’m dreaming of a small house on the mountain side,” you closed your eyes, “surrounded by a forest…”
“And a lake somewhere nearby,” Snape continued pensively, “its waters clear as crystal…”
“Yes. There will be flowers everywhere…”
“Grown all by yourself?” he smiled, taking in your every breath.
“I have seeds of some rare species,” you agreed serenely.
Each word you said found response in Snape’s heart. For a moment he seemed to be carried away – far from his cruel reality – right in the middle of your little paradise.
“We’ll set off for lengthy strolls along nature paths early in the morning with a basket of sandwiches,” you mumbled sleepily, “to gather herbs and berries…”
“…and return home right before the sun falls…” he whispered, “…tired, but so happy…” Snape’s words faded into silence, as he watched you drift off in a peaceful slumber, leaving him with a feeling of a vague regretful longing.

Prompt: 6. Christmas Food
Request: @slytherinmagic38 - "I have a request! Would you be open to writing a fanfic on Snape x Lily? They're my OTP... *^* Can it be super fluffly? >///< I live for the fluff XD"
A/N: So I got this request and I just had to make it a Snapemas fic since I got a fluffy idea regarding Snape cooking a whole Christmas dinner for Lily and their friends. This fic is a little OC (and AU) for many characters; you'll see ;) (Disclaimer! I am NOT good at fluff, sorry slytherinmagic38, but I will do my best!)
Setting: Spinner's End, Snape's House
Pairing: Snape x Lily
Word count: 3674
Warnings: Fluff, Love, Kissing

Tumblr media
He had been slaving in the kitchen since the early hours of the morning. The house smelled of ham, turkey, gingerbread cookies, potatoes and all things good with Christmas food. He was so nervous he had barely gotten any sleep. Everything had to be perfect. Absolutely perfect. Because she was coming. Lily. Lovely, sweet Lily whom he had adored since the first day they met.
He smiled to himself as his cheeks turned a shade of scarlet red. Just the thought of her was enough to make him all giddy despite being an adult. Despite being nearly 24 years old. He was just a boy in love when it came to her.
The doorbell rang and his entire body went numb. He had just finished setting the table and had lit the last of the many candles that made the room shine in a warm glow. She's here, he thought to himself and hurriedly walked tot he door. He took a deep breath before he unlocked and open it.
There she stood, packed in thick clothes and while she held a pie in her hands. "Merry Christmas, Sev," she said happily and he smiled so wide his cheeks hurt. "Merry Christmas, Flower," he answered and stepped away from the opening so she could come in. Her smile was instantly wider and she handed him the pie before she closed the door behind her.
"It's so cold," she murmured as she took off her coat, hat, gloves, scarf and boots. "Well, it has been snowing." Severus just watched her with glittering eyes as she laughed. "True, true, at least it's nice and warm with you," she said and his heart fluttered at her words. Her cheeks a bit red - from the cold or the sweet words he did not know.
"Well, um, come in," he said as he fumbled for anything nice to say back, "feel free to heat up by the fire." He turned at those words and walked toward the kitchen. Her soft steps echoed behind him. "What have you been cooking? It smells divine!" Severus still smiled, just being close to her made him happy. Happy and content.
"Food," he murmured sheepishly and she laughed. It echoed all through the house and he loved that sound. "I know that, but what food Sev? What lovely creations have you come up with for us?" "Have a look," he said as they entered the kitchen and he placed the pie among a mountain of food - everything from the simplest of homemade bread to the most garnished turkey one could imagine.
Lily gawked, Severus held his breath. She turned towards him and closed her mouth as if she just had figured out it was open. He became nervous and fiddled with his fingers behind his back. "Is it not enough?" he asked as he ventured to look into her clear eyes. "Enough? Oh, Severus, it's far too much!" she gushed with a hand against her throat. "Guess I'm not used to cooking for more than one," he said, "I just, wanted you to have all the things you'd like." She smiled at him and laid her hand upon his arm. "This is more than I could ever want. Let's hope the others are hungry, so it doesn't go to waste." Severus nodded at her words but were totally lost in her twinkling eyes.
"Well, let's get cracking," Lily said as she rolled up her sleeves and rubbed her hands together in a joyous kind of way. Severus chuckled and did the same. "You really are a great cook," she said softly and her face seemed to turn a little red again. Severus felt the heat of a blush as well. "Thank- thank you," he murmured as his voice was a bit unstable from her proximity.
They moved all the food out to the table Severus had set up in the living room. He had clear the room as best he could to fit the giant piece of furniture with all the chairs that belonged to it. Lily bumped into him at times, or she reached across him to place a food item down. Every time she was close the faint smell of ginger, honey and summer wafted up to his nose and he nearly hummed in delight.
Severus tried his best not to touch her but he found himself accidentally touching her hand from time to time as they passed each other. While they each went for the pie in the kitchen the same thing happened again and the warmth of her made him shiver as it spread through him like the softest of summer breeze.
"Flower, I-" The doorbell rang and Severus nearly cursed at the damn sound. "That must be the others!" Lily exclaimed excitedly but her eyes lingered on him. A soft look and Severus felt the hammering in his chest yet again. "I-" The doorbell rang again and Severus sighed. "We'll talk later Sev," Lily said as she left to open the door after she gave him a quick pat on his upper arm. Warmth spread from where she had touched him for that single little moment in time.
Severus followed with a smile. Her red hair shined in the candlelight and he could not help but adore the dress she wore as it fitted her perfectly (and gave him a very fine view as well). She opened the door and a chorus of Christmas wishes exploded in the tight hallway as it filled up with people Severus had invited. Mostly to make Lily happy but also because he was rather happy he had friends. Sure they hadn't started off as friends, rather the opposite but as he had changed, thanks to Lily among others, so had they.
"I'm starving!" Sirius roared. "Oy, oy, hold on a minute," Remus chuckled as he came up behind the man. "Yeah Padfoot, let us at least get inside!" James hollered with a chuckle and Sirius made a fainting gesture as he groaned. Severus chuckled and Lily laughed. It was the most wondrous sound for him. "You can hang your coats there," Severus said as he pointed with open palm towards the wardrobe that he had nearly emptied for the coming guests ease. "Will do," Remus said with a smile and Severus smiled back.
As the men filed in Severus looked outside, to see if Peter were joining as well. But he could not see him. Or the other guests he had invited. As much as he and the Marauders were friends (again, thanks to lovely Lily) he had also invited his own friends. And, a person of high meaning to Lily - despite the fact that he did not quite enjoy that person's company. And he had only had word that very morning that she would indeed join them - with the words 'only for my sister' dashed out at the end of the muggle Christmas card.
"SIRIUS BLACK you hold on just a minute!" Lily's voice rang out with mocked sternness and Severus closed the door and headed towards the living room where the noise came from. He found a rather funny scene on the other side of the wall. Sirius was frozen mid-air with his hands over the freshly baked bread Severus had made. Lily with her hands on her hips stared at him and he looked like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. The other’s were snickering as they shook their heads.
"The food is for all of us, you mut!" The word was said with love and Sirius mocked a howl. "But, the doggie is starving Lil!" he said with a pleading voice and Lily shook her head. "It's quite alright, take one Sirius," Severus said with a short nod. Sirius beamed and winked at Lily before he snagged a piece fo the bread that was dusted with varying seeds and coated in honey.
"You are utterly hopeless," Lily whined as Sirius gulped down the bread with a grin. Severus came up behind Lily and placed his hand ever so gently on the small of her back. She looked up at him and smiled. It was a soft smile, filled with joy and tender feelings. Severus's knees shook a bit as he could not help but feel utterly smitten and frankly in love with the woman. "And you spoil him, Sev," she said with a slight tsk but nonetheless kept her smile. "It's that or whining until the others arrive." Lily nodded, seemingly pondering on something.
The doorbell rang yet again, just loud enough to be heard over the laughter and Christmas carols that blurted from the little radio in the window. Severus were reluctant to move as Lily had sat down right next to him and their knees were softly pressed against each other; despite the fact that she had plenty of room on the couch she chose to sit right next to him.
With a slight sigh Severus got up, "I'll see who's joining us." He walked out of the room as the other continued their conversation on new spells and the possible uses for them in humorous ways. Severus stalked over to the door and opened it. "Mewy 'wistmas!" rang out as little Draco, merely four years old, beamed up at him. "Merry Christmas Draco," Severus said and crouched to his level, "what have you got there?" "'oockies!" He said happily and stretched the little box towards Severus, "Fo' eve'yone." Severus smiled and thanked the little boy before he rose again and Draco went inside; as he eagerly shed his coat, hat, gloves and boots.
"We apologies, we couldn't find a sitter for him," Narcissa said, with a gentle smile. "That's quite alright, I believe Lily will be rather happy. Merry Christmas," he said and Narcissa smiled wider. "Merry Christmas, Severus." "Yes, Merry Christmas indeed," Lucius said with a chuckle as laughter and cooing could be heard from the living room. The Marauders were not quite friends with the couple but they all were friendly enough and James quite often discussed work (the fun parts) with Lucius as they were tightly connected being in the same department at the Ministry.
"I hear the cavalry is here?" Lucius drawled and Severus nodded with a tight smile. "Oh Lucius, stop it," Narcissa chided with a light pat on his shoulder. Lucius smiled at his wife and Severus could not help but wonder if he and Lily could ever have such a relationship. A marriage between them. He pushed the thought away, he was already nervous as it was.
"This way," Severus said and led the couple into the living room where Draco already ran around and played with all of the present people. Lily was the favourite, obviously. Severus looked as Draco told Lily all about the cookies he and his mother had baked for everyone. Lily cooed and praised him for his hard work. Draco beamed at her, as only a happy child could. But Severus only had eyes for Lily. She beamed nearly just as bright and his chest tightened with love for the woman.
"So, are we all here? Can we dig in?" Sirius said as he clapped his hands together with a grin. "We-" started Lily but Severus interrupted her. "Flower, we are not all here yet," he said softly with a tender smile only for her. She looked puzzled while she looked between him and the table as it was set for eight people (since he had a hunch Peter would not arrive as he had heard not the slightest sound from the man). "Draco needs a place to sit, he was not planned." Lily smiled, but still looked puzzled. "We are really sorry, Severus," Narcissa said in a hushed tone. Severus waved his hand. "Nonsense, the boy is a joy," he said with a smile to both Narcissa and Lucius whom both smiled back at him. Obviously relieved.
"Who are we waiting for then?" Lily asked as she was rearranging the table setting. Severus smiled fondly towards her. "That, sweet Flower, is for you to see when-" and the doorbell rang again, "well, there we go," Severus declared before he rushed towards the door so as Lily would not beat him to it.
He opened it swiftly with a smile as he did not wish to make the relationship with Petunia any more strained than it already was. She was a, well, not very likeable woman to be frank. But he tried, by Merlin did he try. "Mrs Dursley," he said and gave her a gentle nod. She huffed. "Petunia is fine," she muttered as she took off her gloves with quite the show. "Petunia," Severus uttered as he stepped out of her path to allow her access to his home. Even if he didn't really enjoy the idea of it. For Lily, this is for Lily, he thought so as not to sneer at the woman as she hung her coat and changed her shoes to a pair of low heels.
"Sev, who- Tuni!" Lily screamed with glee as she rushed past Severus and took her sister in her arms. Petunia smiled as she petted Lily's back and Severus could not help but smile as well. They were opposites but they loved each other dearly. "Oh Lily, honestly, we saw each other just two weeks ago," Petunia spoke with a huff but seemed rather happy her sister was so excited to see her. "That was two weeks ago, and not at a Christmas dinner!" Petunia simply huffed and remained quiet.
"What's going on? We're starving back here!" Sirius called as he strolled into the hallway. "We're all here now," Severus said, "Petunia was the last one." "Well thank Merlin! Let's eat!" Sirius was gone before anyone had time to utter a word.
Severus had been kind enough to tell Petunia who would be joining them so the woman had obviously prepared herself as she didn't sneer or comment on Sirius behaviour. After all, they all knew each other quite well. Well, most likely she knows all of them deeper than they know her. Such a private person, Severus thought as he followed the sisters into the living room where Petunia actually looked pleasantly surprised by all the decorations and the splendid looking food.
"Well then, let's get seated," Severus said and pointed towards the table with an open palm as he waited for all of them to take a seat where ever they wanted. He would take whatever seat available, but he hoped to be next to Lily.
He ended up at the head of the table, Lily to his right and Narcissa to his left. He was quite happy with that. On the right side were Lily, Petunia, Remus and Sirius. On the left sat Narcissa, Draco, Lucius and then James. All were chatting and eating. All seemed happy and content. Severus made sure everyone's glasses were full and asked if anyone wanted anything that was not at the table. Draco, the little picky-eater, said he wanted apples. Sliced apples. Severus chuckled and headed off to the kitchen.
As he was slicing a green apple muffled steps were heard. He turned to see Lily, with a smile and an empty wine bottle in her hand. "Have any more, Sev?" "Top right cupboard," he said with a jerk of his chin. She walked past him, her elbow graced him as she placed the empty bottle on the counter and he stilled for a moment.
"I know you invited her for my sake," Lily said as she stood next to him. "Obviously," Severus stated as he moved the apple slices into a little bowl with a red Christmas pattern on it. "Severus," Lilly whispered as she placed her slender hand on top of his, "that was very sweet." He stilled, a gentle warmth spread through him and he turned his hand to take hers in his. "Anything for you, Flower." The whisper was soft and hushed. His heart hammered as their fingers intertwined.
"How long are you going to keep me waiting?" Lily asked and Severus jerk his head up only to be met with her loving eyes tenderly looking back at him. "Pardon?" "Oh Sev, we've been at this for a year now. Why haven't you asked me out yet?" Severus swallowed as his knees shook a tad. Everything went so still and quiet as she gazed at him longingly. He was out of words. And air. He sucked in a huge gulp as he noticed he really wasn't breathing.
"I didn't know- I wasn't sure-" he rambled as her hand squeezed his gently. "You know Sev, don't be so insecure. You know I'm in love with you." Severus's eyes turned wide and he blushed scarlet. Lily giggled sweetly. "Okay then, Severus, will you go out with me?" she said as the giggles had died down and he just stared at her for a long moment.
"Yes," was the only word that left his lips as he breathed out. She smiled and before he even had a chance to react she had kissed his cheeks softly. "Come on, they're waiting," Lily said and Severus nodded as he were afraid his voice would break if he spoke. So he followed her, a bowl of apple slices in his hand and a bottle of wine in her hand, as they walked back tot he living room and the guest's who were laughing and talking loudly.
An odd feeling swept in over Severus as he handed the bowl to Draco. It was warm and soft. Safe and joyfully. He was, well, he was happy. Truly happy. He had friends, he had loved ones and he had what could be described as a family. Something he had barely dared to hope for. But there he was, hosting a Christmas dinner in his home with Lily by his side and friends all around the table that was covered in the food he had cooked. Surrounded by Christmas decorations and laughter. Now, now I do sort of understand all that talk about family. And friends. Of its importance. No one should live without this. The thoughts were silent yet he smiled warmly as Lily grabbed his hand atop the table and squeezed it again.
"Finally!" Remus shouted and everyone went utterly still and quiet as Remus never spoke with such raised voice (unless he was bantering with Sirius that is). Everyone looked at the smiling werewolf who seemed wickedly pleased. "Maybe now you can shut up about him not asking you out," he said with a grin towards Lily who blushed deeply.
All eyes turned to them and Severus stiffened but Lily held his hand firmly and with a theatrical show she lifted his hand and kissed his knuckles as she smiled so broadly all her white teeth were flashed after the kiss. "Maybe you should make your own Christmas miracle to, Remus?" she chuckled and the looks she gave him told everyone at the table that Lily and Remus had a secret. Severus appeared to be the only one who noticed the slight glance Remus gave Sirius. As if he just darted around with his eyes. But Severus saw that look instantly and knew what it meant.
"What miracle?" Sirius asked with his mouth full of chicken. Severus could not help but internally laugh at Petunias aghast expression at the man's table manners. "Oh hush, don't speak with your mouth full," Remus chided and Severus chuckled as Lily shook her head. "What?" Sirius asked, baffled, "tell me about this miracle!" he raved as he chewed but nobody said anything. Remus simply smiled softly as he shared a look with Lily who gave a just as soft smile back.
"It was lovely Severus," Narcissa said as Draco hung over her shoulder in a deep slumber. "I'm glad you came," he answered. "So are we," Lucius interfered and Severus smiled at the both of them. "We are happy for you, dear Severus, truly." Narcissa smiled at him and he nodded in thanks. "Have a safe trip." "Thank you for the food and company, it was enjoyable." Lucius shook Severus's hand and then they were on their way. Just like Remus, Sirius and James had been a moment earlier.
In the living room - the very messy living room - sat Petunia and Lily. Both held a glass of wine each and they chatted quietly but happily. Severus lingered in the door frame for a moment. Just to look at her, lovely Lily. Such beauty, he thought and that warmth spread even further through him.
At that moment, Lily looked up and smiled at him. "Come join us, Sev." She beckoned him with a wave of his hand. He summoned a glass of fire whiskey as he walked towards the women and sat down in the chair opposite them. "Lily tells me you did all the cooking?" Petunia said and he voice was not quite so stuffy as it usually was. "Indeed, I did." "It was lovely." Severus arched a brow in surprise at the praise that came from Petunia. "Well look at that, another Christmas miracle," Lily giggled and Severus chuckled as Petunia smiled with an ever so slight blush to her pale skin.
"You will look after her, won't you?" Petunia's voice was soft yet stern and Severus nodded. "Pfft, more likely I'll look after him," Lily giggled and Severus chuckled yet again. "Flower, I believe you are right." Petunia seemed happy with the words so none of them pressed the matter further. Severus assumed the sister had spoken just between themselves about the whole thing before he arrived. He was just happy that Petunia seemed a bit more accepting and the fact that Lily had asked him to go out with her.
"Well, I should get going." Petunia stood as she spoke. "Already?" Lily pouted and Petunia gave a tense smile. "We'll see each other in a few days for Christmas." Lily nodded at that and Petunia's gaze drifted over to Severus. "You are welcome too," she said, "if you want. But there will only be muggles there so no magic." Severus nodded. "It would be a delight," he said and he actually meant the words. No, he did not fancy Petunia, or her large husband Vernon and the spoiled child of theirs, but he was happy to have been invited. Happy to have been somewhat accepted as Christmas was a rather huge event in the muggle world.
"I will see you both promptly at eleven then," Petunia said as she walked towards the hallway. Both Severus and Lily followed. "Yes, Tuni," Lily said with a smile, "promptly at eleven." "Anything we should bring?" Severus asked and Petunia pondered for a moment as she took her coat, hat, gloves and scarf. "That bread was quite lovely," she said and Severus smiled with a nod. "I will bring some freshly baked. Have a safe trip," Severus said and left the sister to say their goodbyes in private.
A few moments later the door closed and Severus drank the last of the fire whiskey as Lily stepped into the living room again. She curled up on the couch and looked at him. He looked right back at her. "So, nothing to say?" she asked and he felt as though she was trying to get at something specific. "No, I do not believe so," Severus said with a raised brow. Lily sighed and shook her head. "Nothing at all?" "No?"
It took a moment of silence. Severus turned deathly pale. His back was stiff as a rod. His hands were slightly damp with sweat and his heart pounded so harshly in the confinement of his chest that he feared it might have popped out if it could have done so. She's in love with me, was the only thought that crossed his mind.
"You love me?" he asked. His voice was so low and shaky, it was nearly audible. Lily beamed at him. "I do," she said with a small nod. She didn't move as Severus seemed to rearrange something. The world perhaps. "But, that can't be right?" "Oh, why ever not?" "Because I'm-" "The most handsome and loving man I have ever met? True." Lily's words came so fast he had no time to speak. "The most brilliant and most gentle man I have ever met? Also true." She waltzed over to him as she continued to speak loving words of adoration and for every syllable that left her lips, he felt something in his chest expand.
"Severus, you always look down on yourself. Why can't you just see how wonderful you are and let me love you?" Lily asked as she sat down in his lap and laid her hands on his shoulders as his arms instinctively wrapped around her. "I love you," he whispered softly and she smiled as her fingers caressed his jaw. "I love you too." Her lips graced his cheek tenderly.
"What do you say about skipping the whole dating ordeal and just love each other?" Severus swallowed yet nodded at her words. "Flower," he murmured and as some sort of courage surged threw him he kissed her soft lips tenderly as her hands cradled his face and his arms pressed her towards him. The smell of Christmas food and her filled his nose and he loved every moment of time she gave him. Just as he loved her lips on his. Christmas miracle indeed...

So this turned out to be a long fic but I just couldn't stop myself. I'm not good at short stuff and I felt this had the potential to be "dragged out a bit" so to speak. Lily is not a character I enjoy shipping with Severus personally BUT this was fun to write and I love to take creative liberty with characters like this. Make love where there is supposed to be hate according to canon.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this one and that it was up to scratch both as a Snapemas fic and a request despite my rather poor skills in writing fluffy stuff xD ^^

drabble request: James + Lily as ice skaters??!!!!
Sorry it's been a few days longer than I'd like but here we are! Jily isn’t my strong suit but I hope this is what you were looking for 😥❤️
~*~*~*~*~
Skating and other ways to fall in love
By Lacey Black aka CheekyTorah
The crisp cool air bit at her nose. Her fingers tucked away in her robes were stiff and red while Lily did her patrol of the Hogwarts outer grounds. Red hair blowing about her shoulders, her long, heavy winter cloak shifting around her ankles. She muttered the warming charm quietly and she was surrounded by a heat that fought against the cold.
She was slowly coming up to the Black Lake when she noticed three figures seemingly hovering over the water. Glaring and growling silent profanities, Lily marched furiously over to the most troublesome boys of her year. Always giving her problems, always making her job more difficult. She wished they would just grow up.
“Black, Potter! Figures I would find you out here past curfew! Lupin, I thought better of you! How did you ever get Prefect?” she snapped at the three boys on the lake. She noticed Peter shifting foot to foot on the bank of the lake.
“Awe, Evans, really? We are just having a bit of innocent fun, no pranks even!” Sirius sighed and whined at her.
“You must forgive me for my lack of trust in such promises,” she said sarcastically and rolled her eyes.
“Lily, love, come skate with me!” Potter cooed and came flying towards her.
She looked at their feet and realized they all had muggle skates and had frozen the lake on one side. Even the Squid seemed perfectly at ease with their intrusion. James came quickly to a stop in front of her and winked at her. She narrowed her eyes at him.
“I’d rather not,” she said strongly.
“Just one skate with me, and we will all go back in, ” James smiled softly this time.
She hesitated, on the one hand, she used to love skating but on the other they really were out past curfew and she could get into trouble. She glared at him and at the smirking Sirius and Remus behind him.
“Fine, but only for a short while,” she said. She sighed and shook her head as usual James Potter getting his way.
Transfiguring her boots into a pair of skates she pushed off onto the ice and immediately started to slide easily over the smooth surface. She had forgotten how much fun it was skating, it had been a couple of years, but it seemed her feet knew exactly what to do. Sirius was helping Remus, who looked to be having an extremely difficult time staying vertical. Their fingers laced together, the red cheeks and happy smiles made Lily ache in a way she was accustomed to. She wanted that. Love. They had been dating a few months, everyone knew it, but they didn't come out right and told anyone yet.
“Too cute, eh?” words whispered in her ear, warm breath on her skin. She shivered.
“That they are. Think they are going to tell anyone yet?” She giggled.
She actually giggled. Lily go back to the castle, right now, a voice screamed inside her head. She must be too cold, the blood not flowing right because she ignored it. She always ignored it. Rightly so, this was James Potter. Though, even after years of rejecting him and hundreds of reasons why James Potter was the worst idea ever, she couldn’t remember why.
“If It were up to Pads, I think the whole world would know, but Moony is much more reserved and anxious,” James said with a laugh.
Lily smiled and nodded. “Much unlike you, you just say whatever comes to your head.”
“Well I can’t say you're wrong,” he said sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. “Especially when it comes to you, I kind of go into autopilot. Like my brain doesn’t work quite right.”
Lily blushed, he had never said that before. Sure he did dramatic displays and ridiculous outbursts claiming his undying love and devotion. He had conjured hundreds of flowers once, having them appear to her throughout that day wherever she was at any given moment. She’d be sitting in class and suddenly a couple hundred flowers bearing little cards with her name on it would fill the room. He had sung cheesy made up songs with Sirius every day for a week, standing on the table in the great hall bellowing loudly for all the hear.
He had done all of these very public things, he had never really just talked about it like a mature rational person. He wasn’t serious about it, it was just more attention-seeking notions. So this was different. Though, he did come her rescue when Severus had turned his vile tongue on her calling her a disgusting slur.
She huffed, she didn’t mean to sound cross. She meant to make a light hearted joke but she couldn’t, his behaviour screamed insincere to her.
“I can work on it, you know,” he insisted and pulled to a stop in front of her, forcing her to stop and look up into his hazel eyes.
“Work on it?” She asked puzzled.
He looked at her with an intensity she’d never seen in him except for on the pitch, chasing the snitch.
“Showing you what you mean to me, without causing a scene.” He chuckled and leaned forward a bit, his breath lingering in the air against her skin. “You’ve been it for me since I was 13 years old, Lily. I’ll try anything.”
Then he turned and skated to the edge of the lake stepped off the ice. He quickly turned his skates back to shoes and with a little salute headed back towards the school.
A cough sounded beside her that made her jump.
“Alright there, Lily?” Remus asked. She nodded and he continued. “Looking a little red there.”
“It’s just the cold,” she muttered and tugged at her cloak.
He hummed in response and turned back to Sirius.
It was just cold. Just the cold. She kept telling herself that for the rest of the night, even hours after being back in the warm common room and still in her bed trying to sleep.

Alchemy: Tiny Steps
Chapters: 25/45 Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist/Harry Potter Rating: T Relationships: Edward/Winry, Lan Fan/Ling, and May/Alphonse. Primary Characters: Edward Elric, Severus Snape Additional Tags: Crossover, Teacher!Edward, BrOtp Edward/Severus. Sassy beyond measure. Pro!Snape Series: Part 2 of 9. Summary: Part two of the Alchemy Series.  Politics. Either you love it, hate it or you live it. For Alchemy Teacher Edward Elric, he lives it, hates it and loves it when he gets the upper hand. Here is to another year of hell… D/C: I do not own Harry Potter or Fullmetal Alchemist. Discord: La Red(Mesh Mash of… stuff.): https://discord.gg/KYjmVAb Alchemy Series: https://discord.gg/DejEYNJ
Tumblr media
George Weasley: Shows a great aptitude in Alchemy along with his brother, Fred Weasley. Try to remember who is who. This one needs to develop his critical thinking skills, it is apparent that both brothers help each other with what the other slacks with. While George has a complete understanding of the laws but as stated before, critical thinking along with a clearer and advanced understanding of the laws. Warning: Chronic prankster.
Rachel McWilliams: If only I could get her a full evaluation, I could only do so much without fully knowing what more I could do for her. There is a difference between knowing something and remembering something. She remembers what she needs to remember and at her convivence, but does not fully understands what she is talking about. I have received several complaints of her constant chatter to the point it severely distracts everyone. There are times she will be quiet, but it is just as unnerving whenever she goes in those quiet tangents. Warning: If she does not follow our warnings, contact Filius.
Yaxley Prang: Has one of the biggest sweet tooth… Emphatic and cares for his housemates. Enjoys creating recipes and figuring out how cooking could be implemented into Alchemy. Makes one mean carrot and zucchini bread. Pomona mentioned to me he dropped an elective to continue studying Alchemy, ended up dropping divination and switched it with ancient ruins and added in muggle studies. Need to talk to him about adding extra classes, last thing we need is him running on caffeine. Warning: Lost his mother at a young age due to that moldy-mort, a very sore subject for him.
Emmeline Evan: Blunt, mature and very warm-hearted. One of the oldest students I have, shows some promise but not enough time to be taught fully. This was a clear example what I warned that cat woman about. Anyway, she has a tendency to be very oblivious to a lot of things and Alchemy cannot be one of them. Even if she see's facts, she does not see the full picture or ask the necessary questions to further her studies. Warning: Don't be surprised if students attempt to woo her and she has no clue what's happening. Very oblivious. (Don't you say anything, Al. )
Alphonse scanned through his brother's paperwork for Wednesday's class, Critical Thinking. Students that require a deeper understanding of the world around them, to think in and out of the box and so on. Important for them to understand that life is filled with color but behind the seams, it's black, white and grays of all shades.
So far, a lot of the students who just passed the entrance exam are skeptical of what was being said to them. A lot of them had an idea what they assumed to be Alchemy and what from what they were told. So far Alphonse kicked out one person just went on how Alchemy is supposed to be, to a wizard/witch point of view. One less student to teach. Let's see if he can bring down the numbers even more.
-.-
"My head..." Edward rasped out, wincing at how dry his throat felt. His arms felt like stone when he attempted to move them. The only thing he felt he could move is his automail foot. Vision blurry made it impossible to figure out where he was at that current moment. 'Where am I?'
Edward suddenly felt metal touch his lips and a cold liquid hitting his lips. The need of quench his thirst overtook his mind to question what he was being forced to drink but that was overthrown. His thirst won over and when the liquid touched his tongue, the eldest Elric Brother felt warmth filled his entire body. Feeling began to return and his vision becoming clearer. Once his sight returned fully to him, he saw that it was Severus holding a goblet up to his lips. The liquid in said goblet smelled like peppermint, rosemary, and… feverfew? Whatever it was, it was helping him get rid of the constant ache in his head. "Zank you."
Severus could only raise an eyebrow at hearing Edward's voice. Edward had started to lose his heavily accented voice, pronouncing English words easily and nearly fluently. Still had hints of Amestrian but nothing when he first met him. Now? It's like right back to the beginning for Edward. "How do you feel?"
"I feel like schit. Put vadeffer you kaffe me is making it ko avay." Edward slurred out, feeling sleep taking over him again. "Vat did you make drink…"
Severus watched Edward slurred out his words before returning to a magic induced sleep. This would be the last time the young man be forced to drink a sleeping drought. It was heavily diluted to help with the concussion Edward is suffering from. From what Poppy told him, that Edward is almost in the clear but needed one more potion and a long rest before going about his normal business. Well, normal business for Edward Elric.
"How is he?"
Severus turned around to see Alphonse entering the room from the second entrance of the room. "I gave him the last required potion. It would have been a fast process if he allowed Madam Pomfrey to use magic and fully utilizing my potions, but considering his stance towards that…"
"His stance against magic in or on his body…I know." Alphonse let out a despondent sigh. "He would rather suffer through the pain than make it go away quickly with magic. Don't use it against him, he already does that enough as it is."
"I know."
-.-
"The main colors of the wedding are red and gold?" Izumi attempted to describe the color of dress she needed to get for Edward and Winry's wedding. She was asked by Edward to stand in as the Mother of the Groom and right now, she is looking for a dress along with Gracia, Elicia and Riza. "I want something like this…"
Gracia could only chuckle and show complete apprehension at how Izumi described the dress she wanted. She turned her attention to another attendant of the bridal shop. She was asked to become the Mother of the Bride and wedding planner. Her daughter is to be the flower girl and have Black Hayate be the ring bearer. Riza is the Maid of Honor and is currently debating type of dress she wanted to wear for the wedding. Winry had gave free reign of her wedding. The only rules she did put in is that the colors are red and gold, no bachelorette or bachelor parties, and nothing to revealing. A simple country, fairy-tail inspired wedding. At least Pinako managed to convince her to not it all themed Automail and machines. That was a clear second. "For the bridesmaid's dresses, could we avoid lace, open-backs and something not to heavy? Color? Dark gold, of a dark enough yellow to pass it off…"
Gracia didn't need to look back to see how Riza let out a sigh of relief when she rejected a dress that would have been perfect, but the back had a see-through lace showing off the back. "Something like this back the back covered."
"Mommy, could my friend come to the wedding?"
"We'll have to ask Winry, dear. Which friend?"
"His name is…"
-.-
Alphonse slowly edged towards the trapdoor that was the only form of entrance and exit of the Divination Tower. The Divination Professor is freaking him out and is professing his future, past and present death. Now she is going on about how the color of his eyes only proceeds death of everyone that connects with him and his brother. "Truth… if this is your twisted away of punishing me… you've done it."
-.-
Terrence Higgs: One of my start students along with George and Fred. Despite coming from a Pure-Blood background, he does not see blood or house colors. See's the world as it is and from what he described, the Higgs are a Gray Family. Have him go over arrays and elemental alchemy. It may be too advanced for him, but I believe he could make it. Warning: He had to drop several classes to continue taking Alchemy and Quidditch. Keep in contact with Severus to see where he stands.
Edmond Mortin: I swear this kid's voice is so deep! Whenever he talks it's like a cross between Sid and Major Armstrong! The kid enjoys scaring the crap out of people and joins Fred and George in their pranks. Loves pranks. Very much… I might get this kid to transmutate something before he leaves the school. Warning: Only makes himself known when he wants to. Knows every rumor that goes around this school.
Wynne Rabnott: I swear she's like a mini Major General Armstrong in terms of being 'icy' towards everyone around her. Can't blame her, her family came from a primary non-magical background but quickly married into magic and allowed money to talk for them. She's with that boyfriend of hers due to the fact 'he's of good stock', I swear I never understand how their family make her face theses views. She is has a good balance but needs to have all aspects put together. Warning: She has that death like stare…be warned.
Nathaniel Praxley: May be Pure-Blood, but his family cares enough to suck in their pride to get help in a non-magical means. Found out he has a mild case of dyslexia, working with his parents, Filius and the doctor that diagnosed him. I believe I found a way to help him study. Now we have to find a way to raise up his self-esteem, the kid doesn't believe he's smart enough for Ravenclaw. If only he knew, the kid knows his stuff and doesn't even fully realize what he's truly capable of. Warning: I've heard many of his housemates are tormenting him, have to get one of my older students from the same house to watch over him.
Thursday Class.
Balance.
This day and the next, then hopefully Edward will be ready to get back to teaching. Alphonse could only wonder how his brother managed to get through teaching last year. To think that last year he would be teaching on his own. Oh truth… he takes back everything he ever told his brother about being a teacher. He'll be the one that would murder a student… or horribly maim them.
"Sir, isn't alchemy just a form of lost magical art form? Creating gold and such?"
"…Get out."

26 Decorum and Debauchery
As Charlotte left her father’s room, she saw Bastein approaching
‘How is His Majesty? he asked.
‘He’s resting, Bastien’ she replied ‘was there anything important?’ He smiled warmly.
‘Yes your Highness, good news. Walker’s name has been cleared – she was taking a friend to the clinic and was not being treated. The Press has withdrawn the article and issued an apology’ Charlotte felt a little dizzy, and put her hand out to the wall to support herself. Bastien moved swiftly to her and put his hand under her elbow. ‘Are you alright Princess? Can I help?’ She nodded, putting her hand to her chest and taking a deep breath as her heart fluttered a little.
‘Yes – I think it’s just – the relief. Thankyou so much Bastien, this really puts my mind at rest.’
‘Even if it was not my job to do this for you Princess, I would do my utmost for you’ he replied, squeezing her elbow’
Does he – does Drake know? She asked
‘Yes he does. He was concerned that he hadn’t seen you at breakfast – he and Lady Olivia are with Bradley and young Lord Maxwell in the dining room’
‘I’ll go and see them – I’m so pleased’ she beamed ‘I think you had better let my Father rest, Bastien, and he won’t be attending the Ball tonight’ The guard’s face fell
‘I’m sorry to hear that, he usually enjoys the events here – at least until the dancing starts’
‘He found the events at Valtoria very taxing’ she said sadly. ‘He just needs rest – I will take over from him.’
Charlotte hurried to the dining room to find her three friends leaving. She rushed to Drake and stopped short of hugging him, instead taking both his hands in hers and gazing at him happily.
‘I hear your name’s been cleared’ she smiled ‘I’m so pleased – for you’ as she scanned the corridor for eavesdroppers. He looked back at her and nodded his head to the dining room, speaking loudly.
‘You should come and look at the flower arrangements Princess. They’re exceptional this year’ and he pulled her inside. Brad looked at the other two and motioned for them to leave the lovers to themselves, following Drake’s lead by speaking loudly.
‘So, Lord Beaumont, I hear the gardens are at their best – would you like to give us a tour?’
In the dining room, Charlotte was raining kisses on Drake’s face and neck, and he was laughing softly, taking her face in his hands to still her and kiss her back, deeply and slowly until they tired of kissing and just held each other, leaning against the door.
‘Oh Drake’ she breathed ‘We’re so close – we should be careful’ He stroked her hair, kissing her cheek and she nuzzled into his neck. She felt the steady beat of his heart, the warm scent of woodsmoke and whiskey lulling her senses.
‘We can let go a little tonight, Charlie’ he murmured. ‘We’ll have a little private party, just the five of us, and Bastein will stand guard’
‘Poor Bas’ chuckled Charlotte ‘When does he ever get to let his hair down – does he even sleep?’ Drake laughed as well
‘Do you remember when I told Max that Bas was a vampire – ‘Bats’ien?’ Charlotte giggled
‘He told me he barely slept for a week and had nightmares of him sleeping hanging from the rafters.’ Drake thought back to their carefree years, and held her tighter.
‘I love you Charlie, my Princess’ he murmured and she nestled deeper into him, not wanting anything to separate them and wishing they could be one together.
‘I love you too Drake’ she whispered, not daring to say it louder. She pulled back and looked up to him ‘At last I have real hope’ she smiled ‘Hope that we can be together at last’
A couple of hours later, they had all changed ready for the Ball and gone down for the banquet. Charlotte sat at the top table with the Beaumont Brothers and Olivia. Brad and Drake sat with Lady Kiara and Lady Penelope. Amongst the other guests, Severus sat with Neville, Lady Madeleine and her mother Lady Adelaide. Charlotte stood before the first course was served.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, Lords and Ladies, citizens of Cordonia – I give you apologies from the King who is indisposed. I thank our hosts the Beaumonts and welcome you all to Ramsford on their behalf. We are as you know approaching the end of the social season, and coming close to the announcement of the identity of the suitor who will rule at my side as Consort when I am Queen.’ All faces were turned toward her expectantly, and she paused for a moment, looking back around the room. ‘You may have read certain Press reports that attempted to discredit two of the suitors, namely Duke Walker and Earl De Montfort. I hope that you have also read the retraction of the smears on their characters and I am happy to report that they are still very much on the list of the remaining candidates’ She caught a disparaging look from Anton and Neville at this point, but she carried on.
‘It is my pleasure to announce that there are still four candidates, and that number will remain until the final announcement.’ There was a faint round of applause at this, and she bowed her head to the room. ‘Rest assured that I have the interests of my country and all of its citizens in mind as I carefully consider my decision.’ She smiled and raised her glass ‘This is the first of many toasts – please, enjoy your meal, and may we all prosper and have compassion for our fellow Cordonians whatever their station in life’ All raised their glasses and drank, and Charlotte could at last be seated so the first course was served. Olivia leaned across to her and squeezed her hand
‘Well done Lottie, and it was a good idea of yours to keep all four in contention’
‘Well I could hardly drop Maxxie here on home ground, and there’s no telling what Anton might do if I’d dropped him’ she replied. ‘Best to keep everyone guessing right up to the last minute.’ The dinner progressed smoothly and Charlotte made sure not to drink too much as she knew what was to come – as did many others. Some of the older guests retired to their rooms after the meal, and the rest assembled in the grand entrance hall at the bottom of the grand staircase that swept upstairs, portraits of previous Beaumonts adorning the oak panelled walls. Charlotte joined the two brothers on the staircase overlooking the guests. Bertrand made a grandiose speech extolling the virtue of the Beaumont family and its long lineage and connection with the Monarchy, then handed over to Maxwell.
‘Guests and friends, I don’t have to tell you how past celebrations have lived on in legend. I hope this occasion will join them in notoriety.’ Charlotte stood behind him with a heavy lethal looking sword. She had not entirely been looking forward to this part, but at Maxwell’s signal she took a swipe at the neck of a bottle of champagne and sliced the top off neatly as Maxwell continued, the volume of his voice rising ‘Dinner was only the beginning – I welcome you all to the Annual Beaumont Bash!’
Champagne flowed out of the neck of the bottle and Maxwell held it up, throwing back his head and drinking it. At Bertrand’s signal, music erupted from the rock band in the Ballroom and a troupe of scantily clad acrobats and jugglers entered, leaping and cartwheeling and throwing balls, clubs and flaming torches high into the air. The champagne flowed and the music blared and guests and entertainers mingled. Maxwell disappeared for a moment and re-entered the ballroom leading a llama on a leash. The creature looked unsettled and spat at Neville who happened to be close, only just missing Anton who wore a look of disgust on his face. Maxwell found himself apologising and getting a member of staff to help clean Neville up, but he disappeared to his room and did not return.
Maxwell led the llama around and various guests took it in turn to ride the creature until Drake had a quiet word with him over its treatment, and he relented and took it outside. The party spilled outside into the grounds, the doors of the ballroom that led outside to the lawns thrown open so the thumping beat spread to the open air. Charlotte stood on the balcony watching, and could swear that in the dimming light she saw Maxwell now leading an Emu around. She was wary of joining in the merriment – her father had drummed into her how important deportment and public image were, and she was having a hard time breaking that conditioning.
Her guard must have been down, as she was suddenly aware that she was not alone. She turned to see that Anton had joined her, and her blood ran cold. She had almost dismissed him from her mind, and to find him so close was alarming. He nodded at the scene outside.
‘Do you approve of this debauchery?’ he asked ‘I hardly think that it is fitting for someone of your rank. Why do you condone it by your presence?’
‘It doesn’t matter if I approve or not’ she drew herself up, her regal posture asserting itself ‘I’m of Royal blood and everything I do and say is scrutinised. Do you truly know what that is like, Anton?’ He stepped back in surprise and she continued ‘I thought not. You can pass through a crowd without guards around you, without being recognised, express your opinion without being criticised or causing a scandal, even though you are of noble blood. I’m not participating, as you see. Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t. I can only watch while others enjoy themselves.’ She waved her hand over the scene in front of her ‘No-one is being harmed beyond having a sore head tomorrow. All over the country, people enjoy themselves in similar ways, forget their troubles, forget who they are for a short while. I don’t have that luxury.  I can never forget who I am.’ Anton’s eyes glittered
‘But it is a privilege to be who you are, and naturally there is a price to pay. I would be willing to pay the price, share your burden. I doubt the other suitors are so sympathetic’ She looked at him sharply.
‘Have you ever heard the saying that those who wish to have power are the ones who least deserve it?’
‘I disagree’ he said, that cold glint in his eye ‘If you are not prepared for what power can do, it can pervert and destroy your fine principles.’ Charlotte had caught sight of Drake approaching, and Anton followed her gaze, turning to see what she was looking at. He smirked and bowed to her ‘Just remember that when you make your decision, your Highness’ and he turned to leave, nodding his head slightly ‘Duke Walker’
‘What was that snake saying to you?’ Drake asked, his hands clenching and unclenching, half wanting to punch him, half needing to take the Princess in his arms and unable to do either.
‘It doesn’t matter, he won’t sway my decision’ she smiled ‘how are you enjoying the party?’
‘I’d enjoy it more if you were more involved’ he said, swaying slightly, keeping his distance ‘It’s killing me not to be able to hold you’ She looked at him sadly
‘I know’ she sighed. ‘I wish I could…’ she paused, and Drake stepped forward and smiled, taking her hand and squeezing it.
‘Speaking of which, I’ve come to invite you to our own private party behind closed doors’ Her face lit up and his own heart lightened at the sight ‘Max has put his rooms aside for what he calls the exclusive Charlotte and Friends only Beaumont Bash’ he rolled his eyes at the last  part. Olivia will come and fetch you in half an hour or so. See you there?’ Charlotte nodded enthusiastically.
‘Of course, Drake’ she looked over the balcony at the commotion below – the Emu had broken free of the leash and was running amok amongst the rose bushes making for the knot garden, and Max was chasing after it, guests scattering in all directions. ‘I hope Max is in one piece to enjoy it – and the other guests’
Charlotte followed Olivia up the grand staircase and along the corridor past her own suite. Bastien stood guard and gave her a little bow as she passed, and she took his hand to squeeze it in gratitude. On opening the door, she was greeted by Maxwell, Drake, Brad and…
‘Hana!’ she cried excitedly ‘You made it!’ the two friends embraced, Hana grinning from ear to ear.
‘I’m sorry I couldn’t stay with you’ she said ‘I hear you had a bit of a time of it at Valtoria with Anton’ Charlotte groaned in answer.
‘That man was insufferable, so slick – so self-important. He even tried it on with me half an hour ago too, sneering at the ‘debauchery’’ she made air quotes with her fingers. She let her shoulders slump a little, then straightened up. ‘But now I can relax and be with my friends and not worry about being seen or overheard.’ Max stepped forward and hugged her tightly.
‘You’re like my big sis, and anything I can do to make you happy is my pleasure’ he mumbled into her shoulder, drawing back and making way for Olivia, whose hug was light and brief but nonetheless warm. Brad drew her into his arms and held her against his broad chest.
‘Charlotte, it’s been a pleasure discovering you and your friends, I never expected to be in a position like this. I value your friendship and hope I can be of service to you, for however long you need me’ Charlotte drew back, her hand still on his upper arm.
‘Oh, does that mean you’ll stay on after the Coronation?’ she asked, and he nodded
‘I will have to go back to England to sort out some business, but Olivia has offered me – shall we say ‘house space’, and of course you’d all be welcome to visit any property I may have over there’ Charlotte embraced him again, smiling. That left Drake, and she turned to him, eyes shining. In an instant they were together, moulding into each other as if they would never let go. Max nudged them after a while.
‘Hey you two lovebirds, plenty of time for that later - now we’re here to have fun. Charlotte, Olivia would like to show you something in the bedroom’ he looked at her and wagged his finger ‘Nothing naughty, just a change of clothes. But before that, just taste this’ he handed her a glass that was pink and sparkling.
‘Maxxie, what is this? she asked, letting go of Drake reluctantly ‘You know I don’t like getting drunk’ Charlotte had never been an enthusiastic drinker, as being royal she had to maintain some decorum, but her experience at the races when Bastien had walked in on the striptease show Drake and Brad were putting on had made her even more cautious. She simply couldn’t allow the risk of being seen to be out of control.
‘It’s just a little naughty’ he admitted. ‘I call it the Princesses Peril, but really it’s not as strong as cider’ She took a sip
‘Oh that’s not half bad – sweet with a hint of bitter, fizzy – it’s rather fun’ The younger man smiled at the assessment
‘The recipe’s a secret, but I guarantee you will just get a little merry, no hangover or headache’ he grinned. Olivia nodded to Charlotte and the two women disappeared into the bedroom.
It was only a short while before they emerged, and Drake caught his breath. Normally Charlotte dressed modestly with little exposed flesh, but Olivia brought her out in a scarlet sequinned dress that hugged her curves and left her arms bare, the hem flaring out into a ruffle halfway down her thighs. The scooped neckline was still not too daring, but Charlotte obviously felt a little self conscious wearing it, as she blushed furiously at her friends’ reactions. She wore her hair down from her usual updo, dark curls cascading over her shoulders. Max let out a long low wolf whistle and Brad stared, transfixed. Hana clapped her hands and jumped up and down excitedly. But the person whose reaction she sought stood rooted to the spot, mouth open.
‘Ch – Charlie, you look…’ he gasped ‘Spectacular. I never thought…’ he shook his head. ‘You – are just amazing, Princess. I’m glad you don’t dress like that in public, or I’d have a hard time not punching all the men ogling you’ Charlotte ducked her head down, feeling like a shy teenager at her first dance, looking up at him through her eyelashes. He felt as if his heart would burst with love for her, and he stepped forward to take her hand and waist.
‘Max, if you don’t play some music to dance to, I’ll be forced to take the Princess back into the bedroom and do some dancing of our own that nobody wants to see’ he grinned. Charlotte looked shocked and blushed to the roots of her hair. Max started up some music and they started to sway together.
‘Drake!’ she chided ‘How much have you had to drink?’ He put his lips close to her ear and whispered so that it sent a thrill down her spine and made her legs so weak she had to hold on to him.
‘I don’t need to drink, you intoxicate me’ he murmured. Her demure persona was fast crumbling as she felt the heat of his body. ‘You have no idea what I’d like to do to you.’ Olivia cleared her throat.
‘I think perhaps that dress was a mistake, we’re at risk of these two lovebirds disappearing to make their own private party’
‘I know, we need a drinking game – world’s most likely!’ shouted Maxwell ‘Come on you two, put each other down and we’ll play together’
‘Just wait to the end of the song’ pleaded Charlotte ‘we’ll be with you in a minute’ The two of them carried on, clinging to each other, her head on his shoulder, eyes locked. The sexual tension between them radiated outward, and Brad swallowed hard, looking over to Olivia.
Maxwell stopped the music suddenly, and Charlotte felt like a puppet whose strings had suddenly been cut so that she was in danger of falling limply to the floor without Drake’s support.
‘Right, enough of that. We came here to have fun, all six of us together, not pair off. This is the Charlotte and Friends only Beaumont Bash, you can smooch in your own time.’ Drake groaned and reluctantly pulled away from Charlotte. He was surprised when she firmly took his hand, stopping him from moving away.
‘As Queen in waiting, I hereby delay the inauguration of the festivities’ she said gravely. ‘You may indulge in sampling alcoholic beverages while I consult Duke Walker on my choice of consort’. Her eyes glittered with uncharacteristic mischief, and Drake swallowed. The others might not know that glint in her eye, but he did. He was used to her rapid switches from shy and demure to lustful and wanton, and he realised that he may be about to demonstrate to her some of the things he so desperately wanted to do. Maxwell slumped.
‘Fine, you two have some alone time’ he said in defeat ‘I’m going to turn the music up so if you feel like making some noise, we’ll be none the wiser, but you’re doing this all back to front. It goes ‘drink, play games, dance, smooch – and then the rest is up to you’ Charlotte held Drake’s hand tightly and led him to the bedroom, firmly closing the door behind them. Their bodies crashed together and their lips locked as he pressed her against the door and her arms went around his neck. Her body felt as if it were turning to water but his lips almost burned her and the pressure of his hands was urgent. They paused for breath, panting.
‘I’m sorry I – I could barely control myself’ he gasped ‘Since - your Father allowed me on the list of suitors - there’s been no-one else. I only want you, Charlie, and it’s killing me that I can’t do the things I want to. That dress was the final straw.’ She put her palm on his cheek, relishing the prickle of the slight stubble there.
‘Me too Drake, but you know why - that dratted Cordonian tradition of ensuring the royal bride is a virgin the day before her wedding. Thank goodness it’s not the day of the wedding – as soon as I’m Queen I’ll revoke it so no-one else has to suffer the way I have.’
‘So – it’s business as usual?’ he murmured, his hand smoothing over her stomach and down over her pubic mound, and the tingle she felt turned into a roaring fire. He reached lower and hiked her dress up, sensing her urgent need.
‘It’s been a while since we were together like this’ she said ‘I was glad I bought a couple of toys with me – did you miss us doing this?’ He nodded as he threw his tie to the floor and unbuttoned his shirt.
‘You have no idea. I thought of you in the shower – more than once’ he slid down her body, kissing her exposed belly as he went and hooking his fingers into the waistband of her panties, taking them down as he went. He lifted her leg to let the scrap of moist fabric drop to the floor, and hoisted her knee over his shoulder as he knelt. He looked up at her ‘I worship you Charlie, you’re my goddess’ She groaned and leant heavily against the door, feeling the heat of his breath on her thighs before his fingers gently started to explore. ‘You’re soaking wet, my Princess’ he murmured.
She threw her head back to rest on the cool timber of the door and put her hand gently on his head. She loved tangling her fingers in his hair. The one time she had been with someone else, when Brad demonstrated his oral skills, she was distracted by his short neat hair. She could gently pull on Drake’s locks to urge him on, and she loved that too. She was pretty sure she was rougher in certain passionate moments, but he never complained.
His tongue soon joined his fingers, and the heat and the tingle in her belly intensified. She couldn’t remain still, rolling her pelvis to the rhythm of his fingers. What he did didn’t matter, how it made her feel did – her orgasm was building. Their enforced abstinence of the past few days had not been satisfied by their solo efforts. They needed each other, needed to be close, and the few short moments they had stolen at Valtoria had only satisfied their basic need for comfort. The fire that burned in both of them could only be regulated when they were together.
She thought of him alone in the shower, water cascading over his broad shoulders, channelling down over his dark haired chest, to that v where his manhood lay, his belly flat, hips narrow and his buttocks firm. She pictured his member hard and long, his hand wrapped around it, stroking while he thought of her. As his fingers and tongue brought her closer to the edge, holding her there, she pictured his other hand on the wall of the shower, supporting him, shuddering as he picked up speed, his seed spurting and jumping from his member, his breath ragged. She wondered if he uttered her name as he came, wondered if the sound of the water masked that noise as it washed the evidence away.
All other thoughts were blotted from her mind as she let his name fall from her own lips, as wave after wave broke over her under his touch, his tongue, her fingers knotting in his hair. He slowed and paused and withdrew carefully to match her coming down, and supported her as she slid bonelessly down the door onto the floor. He kissed her and she tasted herself on his lips. She hugged him with her knees, pressing herself to his bare chest. He was hard as a rock and she longed to feel him inside her at last. She leaned back and reached to unbuckle his belt.
He stood and pulled her up, her legs still a little shaky. He took her hand and led her over to the bed to sit, and kicked his shoes and socks off. He stood in front of her, unzipping his trousers and letting them fall, stepping out of them. She looked up at him, pupils still large and dark. She reached out to take his hips and draw him closer, and drew his boxer shorts down.
‘That music had better be loud enough, Walker’ she smiled, licking her lips.

Prompt: 7. Snape leaves the Death Eaters for a reason other than saving the Potters, but hides this fact from Dumbledore.
Word Count: 2,283
Warnings: Murder
Cold was the night, the wind howling harshly, but it was not what had woken Severus up that night. A harsh knock came from downstairs, and it seemed that it would not stop. The tired man groaned, throwing the duvet off of his chilled body and walking barefoot down the stairs of his lonely home.
By the time he had reached the last step, the knocking had stopped. the twenty year old was ready to climbed the steps again, mumbling something about “annoying children and their stupid pranks” when he heard something.
‘It can’t be’, he thought to himself as he reached the door, but it was.
Severus looked around, hoping that they were still around, for lying on the floor, wrapped in a blanket, was a baby. Severus cursed when he saw no one around , picking up the sleeping child and bringing it inside, away from the cold.
The sleeping baby laid at the center of the bed, still sleeping and hopefully warm, Severus had cast a warming charm on them. He was sat on an armchair he can transfigured from a rickety old wooden chair, holding a crumpled note in his hand.
The baby was his, the elegant cursive words had said. From a woman he did not remember, but he knew he had met. How had she found his home? He had no idea.
I leave to you, our daughter. Give to her what I cannot. I beg for you to please care for her. I am sorry.
What was he to do now? He knew nothing about being a parent, he was not prepared for this. He has lived alone since he left Hogwarts, only staying a few days with his parents, then packing up and leaving. His home was old and terribly flawed. The wooden floors creaked, the ceiling did little to protect him when it rained, the kitchen was no better. Not to mention the bathroom had its own issues, horrid plumbing and lack of hot water. This, this was no place to raise a child. Screw the note! Maybe he could take the baby to an orphanage, or find a couple-
He was interrupted from his thoughts when he heard soft gurgling noises from the child. He tentatively walked to the bed, hoping she was still asleep. Her eyes were wide open, looking around in curiosity, then stopping when they met his own. He knew right away he could not get rid of her, he just could not.
She gave her father a dimpled smile, making cooing noises at him. Severus hesitantly picked up the smiling babe, sitting on the bed and resting his back against the propped pillows. She continued to stare at the man holding her, a chubby hand coming out from under the loosed blanket she was wrapped in and resting it against his face.
Severus squinted his eye when her little finger poked his eye, he hissed softly but did not shove her hand away.
“What am I going to do with you?” He whispered softly, “I can barely take care of myself, how will I take care of you?”
She cooed up at him, then let out the cutest laugh Severus has ever heard.
Yes, he was definitely not going to give her up, how will he care for her? He did not know, but he knew someone who might.
Eileen Prince never thought she would ever see her son again, to say she was shocked at seeing Severus was an understatement. He was holding a little someone in his arms, wrapped in a blanket and he looked at her with a nervous smile.
“Oh, Severus.” She tutted
“Hi ma.” He mumbled quietly, the little one was sleeping, and would wake up soon, hungry. The woman forgot to give him any kind of baby supplies (food, clothes, diapers), but a few cleaning charms helped.
“And who is this?” She asked him, closing the door after he had walked in. The sleeping tot had shifted in her father’s arms, but remained asleep.
“She left ‘er on my doorstep, ma.” Severus replied, probably not the best way to tell your mother this is her granddaughter you are olding, but he had no other approach.
“She?”
“Just knocked and left.” He then tried to balance the sleeping infant on one arm, reaching into his pocket with the other for the note. Eileen took it.
“Are you sure she’s yours?” She asked after reading, Irresponsible children!
“I sure hope she is.” Severus replied immediately, looking down at the child.
Eileen looked up in shock, not really expecting those words. Her face softening when seeing how her son looked at the little baby. “Only one night with her and she’s already got you wrapped around her little finger, does she?”
The young parent let out a soft laugh, going to answer, when the thudding of footsteps came from the other room.
“‘Leen, ‘ave you seen-” Tobias Stopped dead in his tracks, his face turning dark, “What ‘re yer doin’ ‘ere boy?”
“Da! I just-”
“Leave us in the night without a word. ‘Nd now yer think we’ll welcome yer back with open arms?” Tobias yelled
Before he could answer his father, the loud cries of despair ring from the tiny bundle in his arms. “Yer woke ‘er up da!”
Tobias, just now noticing the baby in his son’s arms, takes a small step back. “What ‘ave ye done boy?”
“She’s mine ‘kay! I-I just-”
“Just wanted to drop ‘er ‘ere, escape yer responsibilities-”
“That is not it da!” Severus declared, rocking his daughter gently back and forth. “Please da, I jus-” Severus let out a strangled cry, startling his daughter and almost dropping her in the process.
“Severus!”
Panic started to course through Severus’ entire body. This was the first time he has ever summoned them during the early hours of the day. Mostly he calls them at the dark of night
He shoves his daughter into the arms of his father
“I- I’m sorry!” he shrieked, running out the back door
“Where are you going! Eileen yelled over the loud cries of her granddaughter
“I’ll be back!” And with that, he disappeared.
“That irresponsible son of a-!”
“ Enough Tobias! You’re scaring her!” she walked back into the kitchen, leaving Tobias with the crying baby
“‘leen! Wait! What der I do with ‘er?!”
Severus had never wished to go home more than he did now. Not to mention he really wanted to hold his daughter, after today’s events, he really needed reassurance that his little flower was okay.
He knew the dark lord was vile, he knew the man had no heart, but he hoped he would have a little mercy for his victims.
Severus did not even know how  he got to the front door of his parents home, all he knew was that his daughter was inside and probably so were a pair of angry parents. He quietly opened the door, the living room was dark and vacant, but light shined from the the kitchen. As he approached, he could hear the loud giggling of his daughter and the soft cooing noises of his father.
A small spark of jealousy went through Sev, as far as he could remember, his father had never blown raspberries or even looked in his direction as a child. Now his daughter was getting all the attention he ever yearned from his father. The jealousy quickly vanished, it was better that he treated her so sweetly and played with her instead of hating her and neglect any kind of affection.
He stood at the entrance, not announcing yet his presence. Tobias Snape sat on a stool, with the baby on his lap. They stared at each other, the grandfather making silly faces and noises while the little granddaughter laughed at him. Silly grandfather!
Eileen stood at the sink, probably cleaning dinner’s dishes. Severus could hear her humming softly, something she only did when she was in high spirits
He cleared his throat, finally.
Severus had zoned out whatever his father had started to yell at him and took his daughter when the man placed her in his arms. “Hi love, didja miss me?”
The warmest and happiest laugh was sent in his direction, along with the brightest eyes.
“Where have you been? You left her here the entire day!”
“It’s a long story Ma.”
“We still have the entire night,” Eileen sat down on the stool Tobias had been on, “tell me.”
Even after Severus had confessed, even after showing her the mark on his arm, she could not believe. She refused to believe.
“Out of all the idiotic things you have done, this is the worst!”
“I know.”
“You joined the same man who started his entire war! You joined a group of psychopaths who kill innocent families!”
“I know.”
“Well apparently you don’t, Severus!” she shook her head, rubbing her temples in annoyance, “We did everything! We did our best, to give everything to you! To make sure you had food in your stomach! A roof over your head! A bed to sleep in! The clothes on your back! Whether it was the best or not, we gave you what we could!
“I gave you what I could. My knowledge. My support. My proteccion. My love.” She sobbed into her hands, “I know we could have done better, we could have tried harder. But we did our best to make sure you had what you needed. And this is how you repay us?” Her eyes, red and cold stared directly at his, “By throwing away your life, being that man’s slave. A criminal?
“You have a daughter now Severus, if you really want to keep her, if you really want to have her in your life, and you in hers, then tell me. Is this really the life she deserves?”
No, no it isn’t
“No.”
“Then what are you going to do now Severus?”
This could work. He could use this! God thank his lucky stars! And thank his Dark Lord for this!
He patted down the dirt from his robes and set course for home.
Eileen and Tobias babysat again. Severus had never seen the ‘kind’ side of his father, so it was odd to see the man once again make cooing noises at his granddaughter while tickling her tummy.
“What will you be naming her?” Eileen continued to clean the kitchen, her son sat at the table with his daughter sleeping in his arms
“I haven’t got a clue.”
“That’s a really long name don’t you think?” Eileen snorted, “What would be her nickname?”
He let out a soft laugh and looked down at the sleeping baby
“Layla” he answered
“Interesting name, can I ask why though?”
“They left her to me during the night. It fits.”
“Ah, very pretty name for a very pretty girl” Eileen smiled
“Layla.” Severus singsonged. Immediately the baby’s attention switched from her grandpa to her father. She kicked her legs excitedly and made motions towards Severus. “Did you miss me?” he cooed, taking the baby from his father
She made little baby noises, slapping at his face
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
Incredible, Severus would of never believed it if someone had told him a week ago that he would be completely wrapped around the tiny finger of a baby. His daughter. Severus would of hexed them to the next universe and hope they’d die for even suggesting he was weak.
But it was the truth. He was so completely wrapped around her tiny finger. He would move mountains and rivers for his little Layla. He would do anything for her. Even leave Voldemort and everyone else behind, just so she would be safe.
Instantly, the image of a few days ago returned.
The family had screamed in pain. Screamed until their hearts stopped beating. But it wasn’t over, no. He had saved the barely two month old baby for last. Crucio’d the poor child before feeding the still alive baby to Nagini.
However, this was not the first time he has experienced an infant being killed at the hands of the Dark Lord. There had been so many more. It just proved, the man had no heart, no mercy, even for the youngest of his victims.
He had not realized he was shaking, nor he felt the tears drip down his face until his father placed a hand onto his shoulder.
“Alright there lad?”
Severus turned around, making eye contact with his father and seeing the worry in his eyes.
“Yes da, remembered somethin’.”
“Yer sure? Yer practically holding onto ‘er for ‘ear life.”
He looked back down at Layla, who had sensed the sudden change in her father’s mood and stared with wide, curious eyes.
“Yeah we’ll be okay da.”
“So what will you do Severus?” Eileen leaned against the door frame, looking after her son and granddaughter as the walked away.”
“Do ‘bout what ma?”
She raised an eyebrow, clearly not amused, “Ya know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout.”
“He asked me to take part in a interview Dumbledore was havin’ down in Hog’s Head. Something one of the others mentioned durin’ a meeting. I heard somethin’ between ‘im ‘nd a woman.” Layla was sleeping soundly in his arms, “I can’t tell ‘im ‘bout ‘er, but if I use this against ‘im, he could help me keep ‘er safe.”
“How will he do that if he won’t know about Layla?”
“Yer married a Muggle ma. Sooner or lat’r he will go after you and da. ‘Nd I want yer two in Layla’s life.”
“So you will tell ‘im yer want us protected?”
“Yes, somethin’ like that.”

This is an excerpt from my fanfiction “Building A Home” on AO3 that will likely be what I use for the last chapter. Hydrangea Lotus Potter is Harry’s twin whose name I had a lot of trouble with.
After the end of the war.
Ron and Hermione walked around afterward searching for Harry, Hydrangea, and Draco who had disappeared shortly after the battle ended, about fifteens minute into their search the trio were found sleeping in a near circle around a tree, one that reached so high it didn't truly seem to end as far as Hermione could tell, but then again, magic was strange sometimes. Draco was Harry was sitting up straight head against the strangely tall tree, with Draco in between his legs, one leg up to provide the two balance, and Hydrangea curled into the both of them with her arms curled around Teddy, who had finally been retrieved from Severus near the end of the battle.
"We should wake them up 'Mione," Ron said, though he made no move to do so, though he did yawn as well. "I don't think they'll wake up Ron. I'm so tired, maybe I ought to take a nap with them, join us?" She said both sat down on the trunk of the tree, as Ron settled on her shoulder she thought to herself that everything felt right.
Only a second or two later did Fred and George and Lee appear in what was in an awfully large clearing, full of warm fragrant flowery scents and a rather large tree if a bit familiar tree, "Could use a nap boys, this looks good a place as any." Lee said, gesturing to the five kids already there. Fred nodded once and move to sit next to Ron, Lee next to him, and George next to him Fred and George both leaned onto Lee, who tilted his head down and fell into a gentle rest.
Moments later five more stumbled along to the siren song of the wind through the beautiful trees, Blaise, Pansy, their girlfriend Ginny, Blaise's boyfriend Neville, and their lovely friend Luna.
"We should join them," Blaise said as he moved to lean on Harry's side, sure that Harry wouldn't mind. "Yes, that sounds nice," Pansy said as she laid in Blaise's lap pulling her uniform hat out of her bag and handing Blaise a wide brim panama black hat. Luna gently guided Neville along to the tree as their friends fell asleep against a Warriors Nest.
A tree Neville had read about back in his fourth year, a tree that only appeared to warriors in need of rest, and healing. It would take care of them, and keep them safe, and there was absolutely no way to fight against such a powerful thing, unless you were Luna, but then, the fae are like that, though he didn't doubt that she would casually rest among them the entire time as well, because, Luna was like that.
"Don't worry Neville, all will be well," Luna said in that dreamy voice of hers. He wonders sometimes if her voice is as magic as the rest of her as he sits own and lifts Pansy's legs onto his, as Luna curls onto his shoulder,  just before he falls into a deep slumber he tilts his head up to the sun, and sees a phoenix sweeping the grounds. He has no need to wonder who she searches for, sends out a whistle soft as the wind, and is asleep before she lands.
---------------
Years go by, almost nineteen since the battle ended on that cold winter's day, almost nineteen years since The Twin Commanders, and Their Generals were found against a Warriors Nest asleep. No one could be sure if they were happy the war was truly over, or if they were sad that the thirteen children they'd found were the leading commanders and generals of an adults game of War.
Molly Weasley took over as Charms teacher, prodigy that she'd been she was an even greater professor, she commonly brought snacks for her class to eat while she explained theory as she found it helped limit talking, and, in her deepest hearts, it helped ease the pain of having so few mouths to feed. She visited her children, many that they were every day, at the end of the day, weather permitting as per her husbands requests, to clean off the random debrief, and tell them about her day as there's always something interesting happening in Charms, even if that something is, for once, nothing. She thinks sometimes, that they can hear her, there were all those rumors after all, and once, she swears she heard a disgusted murmur of maroon that sounded so like her Ron she cried. Still knitted him a maroon sweater though, at this point it's tradition.
Percy Weasley headed the department of Muggle and Muggleborn Integration, were a very select group of people are sent to observe the households of Muggleborns, and either have them taken into one of the many orphanages, or introduce them to the wizarding world a year (or more depending on magical strength and whatnot) before their children are set to attend Hogwarts. It was a fantastically well-run department. Though he made sure everyone thought he only visited on Holidays and birthdays he went to the tree in the forest whenever he felt particularly stressed, or after a nightmare kept him awake far too long. His husband is the only one who knows, though he dutifully pretends he has "No idea where Percy's run off to, what do mean?"
Oliver Weasley-Wood was quite proud of his husband Percy, and their children (Of which Percy is certain have duplicated, but he's not entirely certain nor does he want to be a bad dad, plus the children are always, or at least mostly always, happy whenever he picks them up from primary school on his way home from work, and thus, hasn't asked.), and his Quidditch team The Appleby Arrows, of which he was Captain and Keeper of. He visits The group whenever h has a particularly interesting Quidditch match, and he also visited the night before he (Very publicly) proposed to Percy. Sometimes he thinks they laugh a little, they do.
Sirius Lupin-Black and his husband Remus Lupin-Black are each pioneering the department of magical creatures, and vastly improving the way magical creatures are treated, Sirius originally started doing so to improve things for his husband and came to realize he’d found a passion he hadn’t considered before. Pulling one over on stuffy old racists purebloods. Remus quite enjoys teaching alternating between Hogwarts and Cambridge with his best friend Nymphadora Tonks the mother of his and Sirius’ child, Teddy Lupin-Black. Each is saddened by the loss of their children greatly and visit almost as often as Minerva, and Molly. They always end up crying a little.
Narcissa Malfoy often brings gifts and accessories made from the flowers and plants in her garden, she sometimes hosts tea with all the mothers' of their saviors, even leaves a chair open for Lily Potter, who she knows must've been an amazing woman to create such wonderful children. She brings Lucius every holiday, even though he barely speaks a word on those days, and every birthday, where he leaves presents he saw that reminded him of the little rugrats that occupied his halls so often.
He does not say it, but occasionally he and Severus sit under a nearby tree and speak of anything and nothing. It is calming for the two of them to feel the volatile magic of their thirteen wards. Narcissa never brings it up though.
Minerva McGonagall took to being headmistress with all the grace of her animagus form, she still hadn't aged a day it seemed. She was still strict but kind, watchful and wary, curious and intelligent. Every Saturday evening she ventured into the forest to tell her children stories of her week. She is well aware that she is heard, she is well aware that they are fine, but she is also well enough aware that she misses each and every one of the little shits.

Snape - Long Lost Love
Title
Long Lost Love
 Pairing
Severus Snape x Reader
 Fandom
Harry Potter
 Summary
Request for Angel of Darkness
“I was wondering if you could do one where the reader was a new teacher in the third year and that the reader is actually assigned as an assistant to Snape”
Request for CalypsoStorm
A/N: There were several messages back and forth so I summarized the request.
“Hey I just wanted to say first that I love and thoroughly enjoy your one shots.”
“The reader was Lily’s sister and Snape’s childhood friend. After Lily died, the reader became mute, too traumatized to speak. Now she’s an adult, and she runs into her old friend who’s heartbroken to see how Lily’s death affected her.”
Your heeled boots clicked against marble floors as you sauntered down the halls of Hogwarts, eyes scanning the name plaques that hung outside each doorway in search of the professor you were to be assisting. You were no stranger to the famous school – many years ago, you’d attended Hogwarts with your older sister, Lily Evans.
Being back in the familiar setting of castle walls and ghosts haunting the hallways didn’t faze you in the least. What shook your core was the name engraved in the plaque of the room in which you were assigned to be a teacher’s aide.
           Professor Severus Snape.
Back in your studying years, you were Snape’s best friend. After Lily fell in love with James and turned up her nose at the black-haired Slytherin, you grew rather close with Severus. Truth be told, you’d developed a bit of a crush on him, but you knew how infatuated he was with your sister, so you left it alone.
It warmed your heart how Severus tried to protect Lily from Voldemort’s wrath, and you sobbed into his arms when you found her dead body on the floor. Had you been older (you were only twenty when she died), you would have offered to take Harry in. But you feared that you weren’t stable enough to support yourself, let alone a toddler, and you thought that your older sister Petunia was better suited to adopt a child.
You hadn’t known how neglectful she was, otherwise you would have insisted that you could take care of Harry.
Lily’s death had traumatized you more than you could have ever expected. The two of you were quite close, though you despised how her lover treated Severus, and how you were the only person to stand up for him. But you didn’t have nightmares or panic attacks like one might expect.
Your trauma side effect was that since the day you sobbed in Severus’s arms over the loss of your sister, you’d become completely mute.
A knock on the door caught Severus’s attention, and he turned his attention away from the ingredients rack he was sorting. “Come in.”
You turned the handle and opened the door, your breath suddenly knocked out of you at the sight of your teenage crush.
Severus was visibly affected as well. He nearly dropped the bottle he was holding, instead gripping it so tightly that his knuckles turned white. “(Y/N)?”
You nodded eagerly, producing your wand from a pocket inside your coat. You swished it around in the air, leaving a light stream in its wake. The lights fluttered around to form letters, which joined together to form words.
           ‘Yes, Severus, it’s me.’
He frowned, tilting his head in confusion. “Why can’t you speak?”
You glanced down sheepishly. Admitting that Lily’s death had turned you mute always felt like a weakness, so you tried to avoid the subject and simply replied with, “trauma.” But Severus knew you better, and he would know exactly what “trauma” you were alluding to.
Severus sucked in a breath, exhaling a sigh. You resisted the urge to wince – he was putting the pieces together.
“I’m so sorry,” he murmured, and you wondered when he began to speak to softly. Was it trauma from Lily’s death like your handicap, or was it the aftermath of being bullied for so many years?
‘I’ve learned to cope,’ you scribbled with your wand, and he nodded curtly.
“So, you’re my assistant?” he guessed. You nodded, the corners of your mouth twitching with the ghost of a smile.
His lips stretched into a genuine grin. “I couldn’t have asked for anyone better.”
Despite how ecstatic he was to spend quality time with you (even his students noticed his better mood and the affect you had on him), Severus was sorrowed by your condition. It broke his heart that you hadn’t been able to speak a word since the tragedy, and he felt an overwhelming sense of guilt for not being there to support you during your time of mourning. You had both gone into hiding, unable to face the real world just yet. But Severus became a professor, and you became a recluse until McGonagall recently reached out.
Severus was determined to do something kind for you, to apologize for his lack of comfort and to promise that he would be your shoulder to lean on from here on out. He ciphered through what few belongings he kept from his days as a student, and among that small pile of memorabilia he found a scrapbook that you’d made him one year as a birthday present.
A smile danced on his lips as he flipped through the parchment pages, watching each photo come to life.
Thirteen years old. You and Lily on either side of him, wrapping him up in a three-person hug.
Fifteen years old. Him handing you a (f/flower) while nervously asking you to be his date for the upcoming dance, followed by you flinging your arms around him in excitement.
Eighteen years old. His graduation. You planting a kiss on his cheek in excitement. You still had a year to go, but you were sure to be there for all of his milestones.
The final page of the book held what appeared to be a sketch to the untrained eye, but Severus knew better. The faded lines and vibrant colors of the (f/flower) were too real to have been a sketch. On the final page, you had laid down the flower and cast a spell to mold it into the page, much like how muggles press flowers between the pages of their books, only yours would stay forever and never wilt.
An idea struck Severus and he smiled softly to himself. Clutching the scrapbook, he shuffled out of his room and down to his classroom. No one dared to enter the room outside of lesson hours, and he was suddenly grateful for the fear he struck into the hearts of his students. He needed absolute privacy. He only hoped that you would be busy for the afternoon.
“Severus, where are we going?” you scribbled into the air for the umpteenth time, once again yielding no response.
All the black-haired man would reply with was, “You’ll see.”
An inaudible sigh fell from your lips as you tried to fight a smirk. His mystery was one of the things you loved about him. And you trusted him with the entirety of your being – whatever he was doing, it was safe and you would enjoy it.
He led you out to the woods where the two of you would sneak off to in your teenage years. Your smile grew at the realization and the rush of memories. When either of you were upset, you would come out to the woods, and it wouldn’t take long for the other to follow. It became your spot, especially since it was forbidden and most of the students were too obedient to ever trek this far.
Instead of the dead trees and poisonous plants that you remembered, you were greeted by a field of your favorite flowers. There was a clearing in the center, where a very familiar black-and-grey plaid blanket (that you had given Severus) was laid on the ground. The professor sat down, offering his hand for you to join him. You did so without hesitation, dropping your weight onto the ground.
“I wanted to show you how much I missed you,” Severus began. “And how much I… love you…”
Your eyes widened as you turned your gaze to him. ‘You love me?’ you wrote with your wand.
He nodded, taking your hands in his. “I always have, but I was too shy when we were students to do anything about it. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you after Lily died, but I promise I will be from now on.”
Tears bubbled behind your eyes as a smile tugged at your lips. You flung yourself into his arms, burying your face in his chest. Severus understood immediately that they were tears of love and happiness, not sorrow.
“Se… Sev…” You cleared your throat, looking up at him with determination in your eyes. “Severus.”
It was his turn for a surprised expression that melted into a smile. “I love you, (Y/N).”
           “I… love… you too.”
You remained in that clearing for most of the day, wrapped up in his arms and his love.

« Do you just love me because I look like her? Or do I actually mean something to you?? » - Snape x Reader, Reader finds a photo of Lily who looks exactly like Reader.
(Hope you like it! I’m a bit rusty and I’m trying not to make these too long but here it goes! :D )
It was a slow day in Hogwarts castle. Graduation had just finished and while you were apart of the graduating class, there was someone who made you linger behind. You now sat in his Potion's room, admiring all of the different shaped bottles that lined the towering shelves. "He never cleans up this place," you thought to yourself, figuring you might as well keep yourself busy as you waited for the dark-haired professor to return from his end-of-year meeting with the Headmaster. You found a duster that probably needed its own dusting tucked away in the back of his cleaning closet. Smiling a little to yourself, you began to study the room, looking for a shelf that needed the most cleaning. At the corner of the room you spied the bookshelf, practically taken over by spiders. You shook your head slightly to yourself as you made your way over and began dusting the old-fashioned muggle way. Your eyes scanned the spines of the old books, and sometimes your finger brushed the golden lettering or details in the leatherwork. By the time you got to the third shelf, you noticed something odd. One book between the rest had no dust on it. You cocked your head slightly to the side as your fingers delicately traced the top. "The Practicality of Fresh Blossoms in Potion Making"? you murmured to yourself, reading the delicate, daresay flowery, writing. You couldn't recall Severus ever using fresh flowers in his potions and yet this book seemed to be frequently used.Your heart rate started to increase as you picked the leather-bound work up, opening it up to a place where something seemed wedged between the yellowed pages. You felt your stomach sink and your limps grow numb as your eyes hit the small photograph that laid delicately next to an illustration of Lilium candidum.Your brain tried to wrack itself around this discovery. That wasn't you. You know that wasn't you. And yet, she looked almost exactly like you. The hair the same shade as yours and just about the same length. You trembled slightly as you remembered he said you would look would look attractive with longer hair, so you grew it out. And her eyes. Expressive, large and the shape you could swear was similar to yours.
Is this her? you thought to yourself, nearly choking on the idea. The woman that Severus confided in you that he had once loved. The woman who he was still fighting for after her gruesome murder that he blamed himself for. You remember him telling you these things with a hushed intensity, his dark eyes not meeting yours as he told you the secrets you needed to hear. So you would know who he was now, and if you were going to truly love him, to love who he was in full. You were still trying to grasp what this meant, your eyes staring into the photograph as your breath shook slightly that you only snapped out of it when you heard a deep, sultry voice behind you."What are you doing?" the velvet voice asked and you snapped your head to attention, your knuckles white from gripping the book tightly as you turned to him."W-what is this?" you stammered out, your throat dry. The man's sullen face usually betrayed no emotion, yet shock was clear on his face."How did you-" he began to speak, the shock dropped from his face as he looked at the book with intensity."It's her, isn't it" you choked out, the photo beginning to slide across the page as your hands trembled, "why does she look like me. W-Why do I look like her?" you corrected yourself, your eyes meeting his that quickly averted. You paused for an answer but received none. Shaking, you quickly slammed the book shut and put it down on the shelf beside you, your hands betraying you and nearly dropping it. Your fists clenched shut at your sides as your eyes studied the floor."Am I.. Am I just a replacement?" you managed to squeak out as your face began to flush, your eyes hot with tears you fought to push back. You watched through your blurry vision the first tear drip onto the dark stone floor, leaving a tiny patch of darkness in the grey. But before another could fall, you felt strong arms encircling you, the familiar scent of the Potion's Master entering your nostrils as you felt your face being pushed to his warm chest. Part of you wanted to fight it, to yell, to push him away. But your body did nothing but tremble. You heard a deep sigh and felt his hand travel to your hair, softly massaging the back of your head. You could feel his chest rumble as he began to speak,"You... could never replace her," he paused, considering his words as you wretched out a sob, "but," he continued, "I do not want you to." You sniffled, trying to regain your composure, wanting to hear more but scared to speak."It's true there are...Similarities. Not just looks, either," his dulcet voice murmured, "she was also extremely intelligent, noble and loyal."You inched your face upward to catch his eyes, your face stained with tears. Severus stepped back, cupping your face gently with one hand and his dark eyes felt like they were engulfing yours."But... you are not her. And she was not you," he looked at you intensely, "and I am grateful that, not only did I get to meet another extraordinary witch in my time here..." he paused, his thumb wiping away your tear, "but that I also managed to earn her love."
A soft kiss was placed on your forehead as he tried to give you a smile, something he was still working on."It is time to do away with the past. The future I want is with you," he said as he picked up the book, seemingly judging the weight of it in his hand before flicking his wrist and tossing it into a nearby cauldron."Incendio!" he commanded as he gracefully pulled his wand from his cape, pointing it at the cauldron. It sparked and then began to blaze, the smoke rising to the ceiling of the dungeon classroom.
You stood mesmerized at the flames licking the rim of the cauldron for a moment before feeling his fingers encircle yours and lead you out of the room, hand-in-hand.
