Fully aware that Journey to the West is a classical story of redemption, complex motivations, atonement, selfishness, spiritual cultivation, and the struggle to Enlightenment, but for even all my own personal posts going over multiple character's underlying reasons for being what they are it's good to remember this too.

#the owl house#toh#hunter toh#lilith clawthorne#i have hcs about their dynamic but they're mostly comedic tbh#like yeah it's fucked up that Lilith had beef with a child but it's also pathetic and i think that takes the edge off it tbh#hunter kinda knows this. he doesn't like her and i appreciate it when ppl read it as ''hes walking on eggshells around her''#based on that one dana art#i think it's a fair read#but i personally like to read it as equal parts nervousness and annoyance at having to be placed with Mean Un-Fun Lilith#hunter thinks she's a loser and has no idea why she hates him so much. he's just trying to do his job man#(my personal elaborate hc as to how this dynamic formed is that hunter as a child used to think Lilith was cool! he wanted to be like her!)#(unfortunately his braggadocios persona as the golden guard gave Lilith the impression that he was Out For Her Job and also Life)#(and bc she's Lilith these threats from a child are taken seriously. she will play nice when Belos is around but she DOES NOT TRUST HIM)#(and she's just not going to interrogate her own insecurities regarding yet another bubbly teen prodigy coming in and stealing her thunder)#(she is definitely not getting reminded of her own insecurities related to eda being better than her growing up. no sir)#(she totally doesn't see the emperor as her mom whaaat that's crazy)#(ANYWAY post canon i think they could be good friends. bitchy friends but good friends)#(someone the other comes to when they need a brutally honest opinion! steve hangs out with them too. ex emperor's coven buddies!)

i think a lot about how vex got off pretty much scott free at the end of s11. everyone was just like oh it was vex all along man we knew you were no good. shame on you. finger wags and all that. like dude just got turned into an ice cube for a minute and then banished again, that was pretty much it.
such wasted potential here. he deserved a slow, painful death after causing so much suffering to both zane and the people of the never realm. he deserved to be "betrayed" by zane. stabbed with an icicle through the heart. he needed karma to come GET HIM.

I desperately need the Thrawn stans (specifically novel Thrawn Stans) to remember that Thrawns whole deal is rebuilding the Empire and fighting the New Republic.
#I see so many people saying Thrawn wouldn't attack the New Republic when that's literally his whole deal.#He's the guy who rebuilds the Empire and attacks the Republic.#The famous story he's in that influenced the rest of Star Wars is about him trying to rebuild the Empire and destroy the Republic.#Also Thrawns evil.#I need you to remember that Thrawns an evil imperialist. His justifications for the Empire are the same as the British Empire used in Afric#Also Thrawns a crap choice to protect the Galaxy from a larger threat.#In Legends he would've lost brutally to the Yuuzhan Vong who were defeated by the Jedi and only ever could've been defeated by the Jedi.#Thrawn is playing military sci-fi in a Faerie Tale world and keeps making the shocked Pikachu expression when the Faerie Tale stuff shows u#The only difference between Thrawns Empire and the Emperors is that Thrawn would build fleets instead of Planet Killers.#In new Canon I think the Jedi would grind the Grysk into the ground before they even captured 3 worlds outside the Unknown Regions.#star wars ahsoka#star wars#grand admiral thrawn#thrawn#ahsoka tano#star wars thrawn#Ahsoka series#The Yuuzhan Vong lost because of a mix of internal revolution and being spread thin militarily#Thrawn would have successfully contained the Yuuzhan Vong invasion for a while but ultimately his forces would've become distracted.#Also the YV would've allied with Rebel Cells providing them their technology and weapons.#Thrawns control of the Empire would further collapse because of all the corrupt officials who would be embezzling funds or resources.#Thrawns fleets would fall into disarray and he'd be assassinated by a YV pretending to be a low ranking Stormtrooper or a slave or somethin#The YV wars were won because the Jedi inspired a religious reformation.#YV versus the Imperials would've led to YV victory.

I finished the Ansur quest yesterday and I have to say, I'm very curious where all the "fuck the Emperor for what he did to Ansur" people are coming from?
Because to believe that Ansur was in the right here, you have to either believe that the Emperor's version of events is a lie (which is quite a stretch, considering that Ansur doesn't deny or contradict any of it), or it really just boils down to whether you believe that the Emperor is a person who deserves autonomy, or a monster who deserves a merciful culling at best. And I have to say, the latter doesn't sit well with me. And neither does the way Ansur treats our heroes. They came to seek help, completed all the challenges, proven themselves worthy, only to be viciously attacked because Ansur doesn't see them as anything more than mind flayer thralls.
Ever since I committed to the Emperor romance (to the extent the game allows you, I guess) I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop, and from the way people talked about this quest I thought this must be it. I was walking into the wyrm's lair expecting a smoking gun, and instead just got a nice little bit of backstory. Sad, yes. Tragic, even. I can't wait to go into the Balduran/Ansur tag for all that sweet, sweet angst. But if I was supposed to find something there that would convince me that "the Emperor sucks actually", I honestly didn't. I guess, if you really wanted to reach that far, you could argue that this is proof that the Emperor wasn't fully transparent with us, but to be honest, if I had had to kill someone I cared about, in self-defence, because they thought I was becoming a monster and decided I'd be better off dead, I'd probably keep that little tidbit to myself too, idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sooooo I did a silly and redrew Eddie and Doviculus from my Brutal Warhammer Au !!!!!
Now- THIS AU IS STILL HEAVILY IN DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT WARHAMMER (yet), but I do have some basic information about the au for now ^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie kind of takes the place of Skarbrand in this au. He’s basically Khorne’s favorite daemon, and the one he sends out for the real important shit. Like getting the skull of Ursun, the dying bear god of Kislev (Warhammer Russia basically)
Doviculus is a keeper of secrets! They’re a Slaanesh daemon, and one of the most powerful ones, for that matter. He is sent by Slaanesh to take the body of Ursun so she can do…uhhhh things to it. She’s kind of the god of EVERYTHING excess so she’s gonna do everything to that thing LOL.
Anyways yeah that’s most of what I have for now, but my brother is teaching me more about Warhammer and I’m learning more about it myself ^ so I’ll be developing the au more soon. (Though I might get busy with school)

Star Wars: Darth Vader #6
There´s just something about the way Palpatine and Vader get so brutally honest with each other while at the same time keeping things to themselves that makes their interactions in the comics very compelling.
Here for example, Vader just discovered a group of enchanced human cyborgs who have been prepared for 20 years to replace him and yet his first thoguht is to see them as an "heresy" to the force because he´s still pretty much faithful to the force and he honestly sees them just like he saw the death star, abominations, technological terrors that go agaisnt the will of the force and the natural order in the galaxy.
Vader´s mentality is still that of a former Jedi who cares about the will of the force more than anything else, it makes sense because for 20 years he´s been isolated from everything except the force and while Palpatine, the Jedi and Vader himself may have forgotten, he´s still the chosen one whose main deal is about following and complying with the will of the force.
Palpatine answers him with anger, because how dare Vader complain to him when the tecnology used in those Cyborgs was the same he used to keep Vader alive? how dare he complain when he allowed him to live that way instead of letting him die? and makes the sugerence to Anakin that if he calls those cyborgs abominations then so is he, Vader doesnt answer but it´s implied that he pretty much sees himself as an abomination as well, why do you keep building abominations that go against the will of the force master? Then he´s also dissapointed at being replaced because yes, despite everything, he still sees Palpatine as a father figure while Palpatine sees it as completely natural because they are Sith and Vader may agree but that doesn´t mean he wants to go against his mastereven if it´s the way of the sith, he cares too much about him to do so, Vader doesn´t care much for this part of the way of the sith but I believe this started the drift between them, made bigger by Luke existence.
This may not seem that way but they are also arguing about the way of the sith being properly unnatural while Vader is of the mind that even as sith they don´t need to act in an unnatural way outside the force influence.
It´s just compelling the two main villains of the saga argue over their role and place in the universe and it tells much of the kind of characters they are, Vader sees himself as a force of order who follows the natural order of things and the will of the force while Palpatine sees himself as a force of change and power beyond the natural order but generally what he brings is chaos.

Ok so this question might be a little complicated so feel free to skip,
S O. do you think Wukong has some anger towards the Buddha for stuffing him under a mountain for half a millenia? Wukong's mental state was already probably fragile since he just went through that furnace and now he's forced to be stuck unmoving and unable to see anyone other than the local gods who would feed him literal MOLTEN COPPER. Knowing how fidgety and restless the guy is he was probably very quickly going insane. Also no to mention the sudden time shift and the shock he probably faced when the world progressed and moved on without him. I wouldn't be shocked if he cursed the Buddha to his dying breath after getting out. I feel like he would have had some unaddressed anger towards him before having to let go of it to become a Buddha
I definitely think Sun Wukong, even after attaining enlightenment, would still have enmity toward the Buddha and the Jade Emperor! I like to think just because he became a Buddha doesn’t mean he is now buddy-buddy with everyone. He is still that same monkey who’d annoy and call Heaven out on their bullshxt. Plus, he still has a lotta trauma he needs to deal with (I like to think he takes some time by himself after the journey just to uh…process everything because he never got the chance to????) I think Sun Wukong attained enlightenment in the book because of the merit he gained from assisting Xuanzang, of him overcoming his dark side by killing the Six-Eared Macaque, and of him becoming wiser and more mature through every tribulation. I don’t like to think that Sun Wukong became a “Buddha” at the cost of himself. No, Sun Wukong becomes a “Buddha” because he’s proven himself and endured suffering. He becomes a “Buddha” because he managed to grow despite everything he’s been through. Time and time again, we see Sun Wukong defy the odds, and that’s amazing. Undeniably, the journey changed him, but at his core, he is still Sun Wukong.

Archaeologists uncover ancient mosaic of the living room of brutal Publius Vedius Pollio
In the Pausilypon Archaeological Park, archaeologists from the University of Naples’ “L’Orientale” uncovered an ancient mosaic.
The park is located in Posillipo, which was an elite quarter of Naples in modern-day Italy during the Roman period. The park is accessible via the 770-meter-long “Grotta Seiano” tunnel, which was excavated during the Roman period. This park consists of ancient structures that face the sea but actually extend far below the sea’s surface. In fact, the Pausilypon Archaeological-Environmental Park shares boundaries with the Gaiola Sunken Park.
Pausilypo (“Pausilypon” in ancient Greek means “relieving from pain”) was a luxurious zone where the most famous people of the ancient Roman world, such as senators and wealthy cavaliers, had their extravagant villas.
The main attraction of the park is the villa of Publius Vedius Pollio, Emperor Augustus’ right hand, which was built in the first century B.C. This wealthy Roman cavalier was born into a freed slave family but was best known for his exploits with his own slaves. He became infamous for his luxurious tastes and cruelty to his slaves – when they displeased him, he supposedly had them fed to lampreys in an eel pond. In addition to his villa, he built a theater that could seat 2000 people, an Odeon for small shows, a Nymphaeum, and a spa complex.
When Publius Vedius Pollio’s slave broke a crystal cup, he sentenced him to death and insisted that he be thrown into a pool of moray eels. Emperor Augustus, a close friend of Pollio, told the self-made gagillionaire to spare the slave’s life. Augustus then ordered all Pollio’s expensive drinking vessels smashed and his pool filled in.
Pollio left his estate to Augustus after his death in 15 BC, along with instructions to erect a suitable monument on the site. Up until the time of Hadrian, who passed away in AD 138, the villa was owned by the empire and passed from one emperor to the next.
A mosaic floor from the villa’s initial construction phase has been discovered by archaeologists from the University of Naples “L’Orientale.” The mosaic, which is composed of tiny white tesserae with a double black frame, was discovered purposefully buried beneath renovation projects that Augustus had ordered following Vedius’s passing.
Stratigraphic dating is still missing, but based on the style that hall could date back to the late Republican age or Augustan at the latest”, says Marco Giglio, of the L’Orientale University of Naples, who led the excavation brought to light.
A refined white mosaic carpet with a double black frame delimits the living room overlooking the sea of Naples.
