Boris Johnson cements one-party rule in England, but the UK looks as divided as ever
Final polls going into the numerous local elections suggest that Johnson’s Conservatives have held onto mayoralties in key battleground areas and will increase their share of local councils. Most symbolically, Johnson’s party took the only UK parliamentary seat up for grabs, in a special election in Hartlepool, which has been held by the Labour party since the northern English seat was created in…

Out-Group Hostility (The Present Age) A new research article published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) doesn’t bode well for efforts to fight political extremism and polarization. The paper’s authors analyzed 2,730,215 Twitter and Facebook posts published by members of the news media and U.S. Congresspeople, and came to the conclusion that the quickest way to social media success is to attack members of the “out-group.” Specifically, each additional word about the opposing party (e.g., “Democrat,” “Leftist,” or “Biden” if the post was coming from a Republican) in a social media post increased the odds of that post being shared by 67%. These results are troubling in an attention economy where the social media business model is based on keeping us engaged in order to sell advertising. Facebook knows that its algorithm rewards extreme rhetoric and anger. Last year, The Wall Street Journal uncovered an internal report Facebook put together in 2018 that found that the company’s “algorithms exploit the human brain’s attraction to divisiveness.” Even worse, the report’s authors found that if left in place, the algorithm would continue to serve “more and more divisive content in an effort to gain user attention and increase time on the platform.”
COVID-19 shots are causing social conflicts (Yahoo News) After 15 months of limiting their social interactions to small outdoor gatherings with masks and social distancing—and two COVID-19 vaccination shots apiece for herself, her husband and their teen son—Suzanne (who preferred to not use her real name for this article) and her family are finally easing up and meeting with friends and family members inside. Sort of. While Suzanne’s side of the family is fully vaccinated, most of her in-laws are not. What’s more, they are lax about wearing masks, and have thus not been included in recent gatherings. And so a pandemic that’s already seen fissures form between those who mask and those who don’t now ushers in its new social divide: the vaccinated versus the unvaccinated. At a time when a return to “normal” is touted at every turn, awkwardness, hurt feelings and a sense of being judged are leaving many relationships feeling anything but.
Ransomware hits hundreds of US companies, security firm says (AP) A ransomware attack paralyzed the networks of at least 200 U.S. companies on Friday, according to a cybersecurity researcher whose company was responding to the incident. The REvil gang, a major Russian-speaking ransomware syndicate, appears to be behind the attack, said John Hammond of the security firm Huntress Labs. He said the criminals targeted a software supplier called Kaseya, using its network-management package as a conduit to spread the ransomware through cloud-service providers. Such cyberattacks typically infiltrate widely used software and spread malware as it updates automatically. Brett Callow, a ransomware expert at the cybersecurity firm Emsisoft, said he was unaware of any previous ransomware supply-chain attack on this scale.
Firefighters are tackling three major wildfires in California in worrying sign as summer begins (Washington Post) Firefighters in California are battling three sizable wildfires in what authorities are characterizing as a worrying sign that this year’s fire season could be even more devastating than the record-breaking destruction seen in 2020. “We’re seeing a large increase in fires on a historical basis compared to where we would be at this time last year,” Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jon Heggie said. “This is a large indicator that we’re looking at another busy fire season—all the same scenarios that set up last year for such a devastating year have the same potential for this year.”
Hurricane Elsa races toward Haiti amid fears of landslides (AP) Hurricane Elsa raced toward Haiti and the Dominican Republic on Saturday, where it threatened to unleash flooding and landslides before taking aim at Cuba and Florida. The Category 1 storm was located about 395 miles (635 kilometers) east-southeast of Isla Beata, Dominican Republic and was moving west-northwest at 29 mph (46 kph). It had maximum sustained winds of 80 mph (130 kph), with the hurricane expected to become a tropical storm after hitting Cuba, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. In Haiti, authorities used social media to alert people about the hurricane and urged them to evacuate if they lived near water or mountain flanks.
Vatican judge indicts 10, including a cardinal, for alleged financial crimes (Reuters) A Vatican judge on Saturday ordered 10 people, including an Italian cardinal, to stand trial for alleged financial crimes including embezzlement, money laundering, fraud, extortion and abuse of office. Those indicted include Cardinal Angelo Becciu, who was fired by Pope Francis last year, the former heads of the Vatican’s financial intelligence unit, and two Italian brokers involved in the Vatican’s purchase of a building in a luxury area of London.
At least 19 missing as mudslide west of Tokyo hits houses (AP) A powerful mudslide carrying a deluge of black water and debris crashed into rows of houses in a town west of Tokyo following heavy rains on Saturday, leaving at least 19 people missing, officials said. As many as 80 homes in Atami were completely buried, according to an official with the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. The official said more people, possibly 100, could still be missing under the mudslides but warned that details were not immediately clear. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stressed that aggressive rescue operations were underway to find survivors.
Australia: Will the mouse infestation ever end? (The Week) The biblical mouse plague ravaging Australia is showing no signs of letup, said Daniella White at The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia). The millions of mice now scurrying across the southeast have gobbled some $775 million worth of crops and are gnawing through anything in their path—including barns, homes, and even cars. A rural prison in the state of New South Wales was being evacuated this week because mice had chewed through ceiling tiles and wiring and their stinking dead bodies are piling up in wall cavities. Once the rodents start rotting, says state prison commissioner Peter Severin, “the next problem is mites.” The infestation is so severe “that mice are biting people in their beds, sending some residents to the hospital in a critical condition,” said Lucy Thackray at ABC.net.au (Australia). Dozens of people have contracted leptospirosis, a bacterial infection that if left untreated can cause kidney failure and meningitis. Farmers are baiting fields with the poison zinc phosphide, which is expensive and time-consuming, but the worst part is the ick factor. “Farmers and their families are unable to get a decent night’s sleep,” said John Warlters of the charity Rural Aid, “without mice chewing on toes and scampering across beds.” It’s going to be “a long battle,” said Peter Hannam at The Age (Australia). Population growth should slow now that the Australian winter has arrived. But “the mice are expected to return with renewed menace” when spring crops ripen.
Unable to control Tigray, Ethiopia isolates region (Washington Post) The Ethiopian government’s inability to sustain its military offensive in the mountainous northern Tigray region was laid bare this week, as rebel forces chased their adversaries out of key cities and were met, as they triumphantly marched in, with jubilation from locals who see them as liberators. Now reports from the United Nations and aid groups imply a concerted campaign by government-aligned forces to punish and isolate Tigray, destroying key infrastructure in ways that will complicate the delivery of urgent relief, if not make it impossible, in a region where hundreds of thousands are already estimated to be experiencing war-driven famine. Aid groups report that there has been no Internet, phone service or electricity in Tigray since Ethiopian troops retreated and that no food or fuel are being allowed in. Both of the latter are essential—millions are depending on food aid for survival, and hospitals are using fuel-dependent generators to keep the power on. On Thursday, the United Nations’ humanitarian coordination office confirmed the destruction of a key bridge spanning a deep river valley that had been the main route for aid to be driven in.
Africa’s Last Absolute Monarchy Convulsed by Mass Protests (NYT) As Africa’s last absolute monarch, King Mswati III of Eswatini chooses his country’s prime minister and cabinet, and possesses the power to dissolve Parliament. His grip on the nation’s limited economic resources has underwritten a lavish lifestyle of luxury cars and palaces. About six out of 10 of citizens, meanwhile, live in poverty. Many in this tiny landlocked nation, wedged between South Africa and Mozambique, are on the brink of hunger and have to cross into South Africa to find work. Now, it seems, many of the kingdom’s 1.1 million inhabitants have had it with this imbalance: Over the past week, the tiny southern African nation, formerly known as Swaziland, has descended into the most explosive civil unrest in its 53 years of independence. Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in the executive capital, Mbabane, and elsewhere, with many burning and looting businesses in which the king holds a stake. The government has responded aggressively, with witnesses, activists and hospital staff reporting that the military and the police have fired live rounds at protesters and looters.
Facebook tests prompts that ask users if they're worried a friend is 'becoming an extremist' (CNN Business) Some Facebook users in the United States are being served a prompt that asks if they are worried that someone they know might be becoming an extremist. Others are being notified that they may have been exposed to extremist content. It is all part of a test the social media company is running that stems from its Redirect Initiative, which aims to combat violent extremism, Andy Stone, a Facebook spokesperson, told CNN. Screen shots of the alerts surfaced on social media Thursday. “This test is part of our larger work to assess ways to provide resources and support to people on Facebook who may have engaged with or were exposed to extremist content, or may know someone who is at risk,” Stone said. “We are partnering with NGOs and academic experts in this space and hope to have more to share in the future,” Stone added. One of the alerts, a screen grab of which made the rounds on social media Thursday, asks users, “Are you concerned that someone you know is becoming an extremist?”

God does not give us everything

How do we get to an evil government? Social media would claim that politicians are liars or evil. No matter what side you claim to be on, your political leader is more ethical than the other side. What side is right? Is government generally bad? Was it always that way? I have had bad teachers in high school. Does that make the education system inherently bad? Is my job at the Post office evil because some letter carriers are unethical? We look at many institutions and have an opinion on there moral view. Is CNN (America) or the CBC (Canada) moral to their nation? Do people in the United Kingdom love the BBC?
I do think events and organizations go to seed. What that means is that they have had their run. The Roman nation existed for around 400 years. It had it’s run. The mixed ideologies and sheer size of the territory eventually took over. It’s impossible to govern a whole world. In the western world we have gone from one type of culture to a mixed bag. Unity is not a thing anymore. I suspect that the demise of Rome is now plaguing us too. Going to seed means you lose the original vision. That the organization became too big to see its roots. It’s no different with an event. Things change as we lose sight of how we started.
The military symbol that became a lapel people wore is now watered down in meaning. Now every organization uses it. I have even heard that the poppy is being used outside of Memorial Day. Some groups like green peace began to save the world. Now they are steeped in activism and eco terrorism. Gay pride went from equality to political terrorism. Women’s rights have been buried in diversity and inclusion. Statues and landmarks are being torn down in the name of freedom. Yet, nobody has the freedom to keep them up do they. Western society is heading towards animalism or war? Certainly, we are more divided today than ever. How could that be a good thing?
What does God have to say? Matthew 12:25 “But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” Why does God not give you exactly what you want? It’s because He knew that we would divide. The Liberal wants to control freedoms to have one freedom. The conservative wants to control freedoms to protect you from freedom. Other groups want this banned and that legalized. Without the law of God, we would stand divided fighting for our individual rights. Sound familiar these days? God says stand with your adversary and brother in unison. Humans just can’t do that can they?
God could give one person all they desire. Would that infringe on other people’s rights? A new strain of Christianity states that God is non-violent. We must only love what all people love. Does what Hitler loved be accepted? Does what the KKK loves be loved? Where is the line? Why does God not give us everything? It’s because many people want what others have. They want to own a portion of this earth. To exclude others from their rights. God does not give us everything because then he would be reduced to a vending machine. Someone’s rights would have to be the norm. Who’s?
God is not the fuel for rights. He is not the fuel for a new morality. This world is a mess right now because were trying to take sin out and add a new morality that says we all have a right to anything. Yet, as we expand this mindset, we are losing sight of the beginning place. A place where gay, women, slave, and others were mistreated. Now it’s about making laws to affirm their rights. The law seems so good, noble, and right. Yet, the more we tighten it the less free we are becoming. The trees are being swallowed by the forest. You can’t have everything you want or desire. God knows it’s true. That’s why He does not play that game.
We have the government we have directly because we asked for it. People asked God to give them everything but He refused. So, people abandoned God and are now asking the government for everything. If politicians and government are becoming evil it’s because they are trying to reflect us. What do we want? What is the government giving us? It’s our desires so that we will love them and vote for them. Honestly, our leaders are a reflection of who we are. We want some rights curbed so our rights are prominent. We want law that force people to accept our sin. If everything is legal them my desires are legal. Why does God not give us everything? It’s because we might become what we are today.

Brazil coronavirus variant and surging second wave are overwhelming hospitals While a new variant of the coronavirus spreads throughout the country, many Brazilians continue to defy mask mandates mobility restrictions following the example of President Jair Bolsonaro, who recently said people need to “stop being sissies” and “whining” about the virus. The consequences of that combination are deadly, experts say. “We are going through the worst-case scenario since the beginning of the pandemic. You just have to look at the trends in the average number of deaths,” Gonzalo Vecina Neto, a Sao Paulo University professor of Public Health, recently told Reuters television. “This could have been avoided and the most important factor is gatherings.” Brazil has broken its own record three times this month for number of deaths in a 24-hour period. On Wednesday, Brazil’s Health Ministry registered a devastating new high — 2,286 lives lost to the virus. In total, more than 270,000 people are known to have died due to Covid-19, making Brazil’s the second-highest national death toll after the United States. In 22 of Brazil’s 26 states, ICU occupancy has surpassed 80%. In the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, hospital patients must line up to wait for beds as occupancy rates in intensive care units soar past 103%. The neighboring state of Santa Catarina has already surpassed 99% occupancy and is on the verge of collapsing, as cases surge throughout the state. One hospital in Santa Catarina’s capital, Florianopolis, is already beyond capacity. David Molin, the hospital’s head nurse, tells CNN his team is exhausted and overwhelmed. “I was here during the first wave and it wasn’t like this. We are completely overwhelmed, with our occupancy rate at over 100%. Many of those patients who are waiting for an ICU don’t make it,” Molina told CNN during a telephone interview. Health workers blame gatherings Molina and other health care workers blame the recent surge of Covid-19 cases on larges parties and gatherings that began around New Year’s Eve and continued through the pre-Lent carnival holiday and into today. Many of these were held in defiance of local city and state restrictions. Last week, Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor Eduardo Paes announced a new curfew for bars and restaurants throughout the city, limiting hours of operation from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. But hundreds of people stayed out anyway — 230 curfew-related fines and closures were issued from Friday to Saturday alone, according to the city government. At one bar, more than 200 mostly-maskless partygoers were found at a party that had been going for seven hours, reported CNN affiliate CNN Brasil. Many municipal and state health officials and lawmakers blame Bolsonaro’s government for undermining their efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus. And the country’s National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS) has asked the federal government to adopt stricter measures to support hospitals and enforce social distancing. “The health system in Brazil is on the verge of collapse,” Sao Paulo Governor Jaoa Doria told CNN’s Becky Anderson during a recent interview. “There is no national coordination to combat the pandemic in Brazil. It would be important for the President and the governors to send the same message to the population, but this unfortunately, doesn’t happen in Brazil. The issue of social distancing measures and lockdowns has become a political football in Brazil. While Doria ordered nonessential businesses to close for two weeks in his state last weekend, Bolsonaro claims that such restrictions sink Brazil’s economy and lead to an increase of suicides and depression. He has made disobeying health guidance a point of pride, congratulating agricultural workers at an event last week for not staying home “like cowards.” “We have to face our problems. Stop being sissies, enough whining, how long are they going to keep on crying? We have to confront the problems, respecting the elderly, those with illnesses, chronic conditions. But where is Brazil going to end up if we all stop?” he said. This week, Bolsonaro declared that he had the “power” to declare a national lockdown — but would never do so. “My army is not going to force the people to stay at home,” he said. Fears over new variant With Brazilian hospitals overloaded and government officials divided over lockdown measures, the country has few defenses against a coronavirus variant that may be even more contagious. A preprint of a new modelling study by researchers in Brazil and the UK suggests the variant first detected in the northern city of Manaus late last year, known as P.1, may be up to 2.2 times more transmissible. The study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed or published in a medical journal, suggests that even people who have already had the coronavirus could be vulnerable. The same study showed that the P.1 variant could evade immunity from previous Covid-19 infection by up to 61%. That variant is now prevalent in Covid-19 patients across at least six Brazilian states, according to a study earlier this month released by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), a Brazilian Ministry of Health research institution. P.1 has also been detected in the United States, United Kingdom and neighboring Venezuela. “The emergence of new variants, which combine both the potential to be more transmissible and the absence of broad and articulated mitigation and suppression measures, are highly worrisome,” the study’s authors wrote, urging Brazil to encourage behaviors that limit the viral spread. “The data showing the prevalence of this variant in several states and its ample spread throughout the country, as well as the challenges presented due to its high level of transmission, reinforce the immediate need to adopt non-pharmaceutical measures in order to reduce the speed or its spread and the increases in cases.” Felipe Naveca, virologist and researcher at Fiocruz Amazonia and one of the main authors of the study, told CNN that the Covid-19 virus and the different variants and strains are likely to get stronger if not stopped. “This is what viruses do: They evolve, they get stronger. The only way to stop it is to contain its spread, which is why we need restrictive measures — there is no other solution. Even if the Government decrees a national lockdown, we need the population to adhere. The action of each one of us will impact everyone as a whole,” Naveca said. Vaccination Hope could be on its way, in the form of vaccines. But Brazil’s vaccination rollout was slow in comparison to other countries, including others in the region, like Chile and Mexico. In January, health regulator Anvisa authorized emergency use of vaccines by Sinovac and Oxford/AstraZeneca. Since then, roughly 4% of Brazil’s 211 million citizens have received at least one vaccine dose, according to data from the Brazilian Health Ministry, and 2.3 million have had two doses. According to the Health Ministry, Brazil is in negotiation to buy Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen, Sputinik and Covaxin vaccines as well, though only the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine among those has been granted authorization from Anvisa. Bolsonaro had long promoted the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine as the only one he would back, dismissing and discrediting many of the other vaccines on the market, including Pfizer’s. Brazil’s health minister Eduardo Pazuello even turned down an August offer from Pfizer to purchase up to 70 million doses of its vaccine. “Pfizer says this very clearly on the contract, ‘we are not responsible for any collateral side effects’ – if you turn into an alligator it’s your problem,” Bolsonaro said in December. “If you become Superman, or grow a beard as a woman, or a man’s voice becomes high pitched, they say they have nothing to do with that.” But a New England Journal of Medicine study now suggests that the Pfizer/BionTech vaccine could “efficiently” neutralize the P.1 variant. The news came as Bolsonaro held a virtual meeting Monday with Pfizer Global CEO Albert Bourla and other executives to negotiate the purchase of 100 million vaccines. “I thank you for this meeting and we recognize Pfizer as a great world company,” Bolsonaro said, during an excerpt of the meeting posted to his official Twitter account. “We would like to close these deals with you, even more given the aggressiveness of this virus in Brazil.” For now, Brazil’s failure to contain the virus is increasingly a cautionary tale for the world. Dr. Michael Ryan, the executive director of the World Health Organization’s Health Emergencies Program, said at a briefing last week that he worried the country’s surge in cases could be repeated elsewhere. “The story in Brazil can be and will be repeated elsewhere if we stop implementing the measures as we need to implement them,” he said. “Countries are going to lurch back into third and fourth surges if we’re not careful.” For Molina, the exhausted Santa Catarina nurse, Brazil’s future seems bleaker than ever. “Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ve learned our lesson,” Molina said. “We [health workers] are tired, exhausted and are getting sick. We feel powerless. We need a more coordinated action if we’re going to keep this from happening again. Journalist Marcia Reverdosa reported from Sao Paulo and CNN’s Flora Charner reported from Atlanta. Source link Orbem News #Brazil #coronavirus #hospitals #Overwhelming #surging #Variant #wave

  OPED WARNING
“My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop the Fire Nation.” Oh yeah, I’m going to get that dorky with it today!
So, here’s the spiel, we’re divided as ever. The left hates the right, liberals hate “nazis”, or “fascists”, or “racists” …or whatever the hell it is now and days. But there’s something to be said about coming together. I’m sorry but no matter what news source you look at whether it be CNN, or Newsmax…or Fox News, then you’re inevitably going to come up with one conclusion. We’re divided. The only real thing that you’re going to see is the source of the division from network to network.
I know, I know, you’re tired about hearing all of this bullshit by now. Got it, and I am too damn it…but hear me out on this one. This is classically, no comically standard procedure, and probably something that all of us have seen before. One look at my FACTS section and you’ll know where I’m going with this. I personally thought about it for a moment and started laughing my ass off about the whole thing myself!
So yeah, Star Wars, and Starship Troopers. Something everyone knows, and probably loves to hell. Well if you take a close look at everything you start to see a pattern. Back when “Lucasfilms” came out with the prequels of the series that everyone, except my goofy ass, hated they tried to explain how the galaxy was as fucked as it was. Back in the beginning of everything, regarding the prequels, it was kind of calm and had the normal shenanigans going on in politics. You know, a little corruption here, a lobbyist there, special interests for specific politicians popping up all over the place, normal stuff.
Well the biggest thing that popped up was the clone wars. I understand that it didn’t really kick off until episode II but stick with me on this. There was major upheaval. One man, spoiler alert…if you didn’t already know, Senator Palpatine rose through the ranks to prominence. In the background he was manipulating something that they call “the outer rim”, or a special group of planets in the galaxy that weren’t part of the “Galactic Republic”. Think of like a foreign interest’s type of thing. Not to long after that war broke out between a group in “the outer rim” and the “Galactic Republic” called the clone wars.
Yes, we’ve got little Anakin Skywalker, emotional little shit bag, and Padme Amidala as the protagonist’s along with young Obi-Wan Kenobi. There’s something to be said about the main political shit going on around the same time and the division it caused amongst the masses though. Basically while the “Clone Wars” were going on you still had senators going “rabble rabble” in one big hall that represented their planet and then Senator Palpatine inching his ass in to the Supreme Chancellor spot…or I guess their version of a president? Anyways slowly but surely, he started to use the war itself as a springboard to slowly limit the powers of the individual citizens, then BAM! Out comes the “Galactic Empire” that we’re all familiar with and the still evermore moody Anakin Skywalker now Darth Vader.
Ok, I think we’re all caught up now. The reason why I say that there was a major division going on here that made me laugh is that this all sounds vaguely familiar. Right now, as it is, we have a group of elites in Washington D.C. that are pretty much dictating what and who we are as individuals along with what we say socially. Take a look at the news I’ll wait. Are you back yet?
Alright, the real big thing that I looked in to as hard as I could was what the main doctrine of the Galactic Republic had as its backbone. I couldn’t find it exactly so I had to pull some crime show forensic shit to figure out what the hell was going on, and why was it so easy for that form of government to be broken up. Well looking at it they did have a “constitution”, but from everything I could find it was basically weak as hell. Point one for America right there.
It was nothing during a time of war for Palpatine to just waltz right in and declare himself the Supreme Chancellor. He still had to divide the senate and get them to argue amongst each other. Cause a little chaos here, question the morals of a specific candidate. Ahem…call in to question the freaking Supreme Chancellor Valurum, the guy before him. There ya go, bad guy in office for the movies to continue.
The part that really started to get me laughing though was the way everything was set up after I started to do my research for this blog. They had almost the exact same set up we did. “Office of the Chancellor”, “Galactic Senate”, “Judicial Department”. If you ask me that kind of sounds like the President, Congress, and the Supreme Court. Well I think that one might be a draw…maybe. Hold up, all the power was easily transferable to the Galactic Senate, because red tape. Yup, they put out all this shit that pretty much made it easy for them to grab power from anyone and everyone they wanted to through bureaucracy. As a matter of fact, Palpatine our good old Sith buddy here added more on to it.
One thing that I’m pretty sure everyone else knows, even though we’ve got a shit ton of red tape going through our own government here it’s damn near impossible to do that from any one of our three branches. They try, they always do, but because of the constitution of the United States of America, ahem, “You will fail!” I’m sorry that was just way to damn easy not to do.
So to say that we’re close to but not quiet like the Star Wars franchise is kind of funny. Yes, we are. We’re not exactly like space traveling ninjas that can do some pretty cool looking Dragon Ball Z stuff, nor are our two governmental systems EXACTLY alike, but we have something that they have and it’s political officials causing both division and derision with in our own society.
Palpatine isn’t just one specific person with in our own in real life society. Hell no! Instead he’s an amalgamation of several different things and groups we have going on right now. Social justice warriors, the ones that want to sit there and tell you that we have to accept the what is told to us by their community because no matter the situation they are right and we are wrong and that’s the way we’ve set it up for, I don’t know, millennia now. There’s the politicians that placate to the exact same kind of bullshit that’s been reiterated by the social justice warriors and those who are from the opposite that lets be honest here kind of issue the same rhetoric and year after year slowly increase government power and their paychecks.
There’s also, and you know I don’t like these folks here, big tech. I’m all for a company growing in the free market. I’m all for it becoming a big conglomerate of sorts. What I’m not for is that company monopolizing the market that it’s in, nor am I for that company not obeying the laws of its country of origin. Oh! Yeah almost forgot, here’s the liberal in me if you want to put it that way, I’m also not for these companies blatantly censoring those of a creed, race, political choice, religion, or country of origin. We should all have freedom of speech and be willing to accept the consequences of our actions no matter what caused them. All of those factors and groups are our Palpatine.
One thing that my ass is definitely going to talk about here is the Galactic Republic a little more. If you take a deeper dive in to the Star Wars franchise, you’ll notice something as well. Doing research about the whole Galactic Republic, and then the Galactic Empire there was a promise that further divided people. The promise of safety.
Granted everyone wants to be safe. Hell, I want to be safe, but there’s something to be said about HOW you are safe. Call me heated now because damn this is going to be a touchy one. Are you anymore safer if you relinquish how you are safe? Are you any safer in your very free mind if you have someone forcibly tell you how to be safe? I’m sorry but my answer is always going to be no. As should yours. The Galactic Republic, much like our own government, slowly eroded its own power through bureaucratic policy after bureaucratic policy. Even in the movies you can blatantly see them do this in the few scenes that they hold in the movies. Hell, one of the most famous movie quotes is “So this is how liberty dies…with thunderous applause.”
I’m sorry but there’s always one sure fire way to be able to get people to commit to that, make them afraid then divide them. We see it play out plenty of times a day here in our own country. The news reports things out of context, or completely false on both sides. Legislatures and other government officials will add more laws to try and cover up what we as a nation had as one of our founding documents. Then the radicals from either side will sit there and either fight against it with their utmost or tell the general population that there needs to be more.
It’s not right. Now there is a flipside to this coin. Militarism. And here’s the little gobblety goop that caused me to take pause and add in Starship Troopers to this whole mess. This whole series started off as a book that was written by Robert A. Heinlein. Don’t ask, I don’t know how to seriously pronounce his name. But I’m pretty sure that not many of my readers will know who the hell that is. I’m pretty sure that my readers would know more about the comical movie that was made in the nineties. I sure as hell didn’t know that there was a book written before the movie.
Now I say “Militarism” because that’s pretty much what Starship Troopers is all about. And it sure as hell mirrors other things that are going on now and days as well. The left has been militarized to form groups like “Antifa”. The right now has groups that won’t start a fight, nor are they racist, but sure as hell will finish a fight like “The Proud Boys”. Don’t get me wrong I have no issues with the proud boys, however I don’t think that their answer is quiet the right one. Some of the things that both groups do that could end up looking like some engagement on “Klendathu”.
Basically, though, in the 1950’s this writer Robert A. Heinlein wrote a sci-fi critique of what he believed was wrong with the U.S. at the time. He’d been stated for “glorified the military…Specifically the P.B.I., Poor Bloody Infantry, the mudfoot who places his frail body between his loved home and the wars desolation-but is rarely appreciated…he has the toughest job of all and should be honored.” Cool so he’s a fan of the military right? Well not so fast there. I, as a veteran of the Army, wouldn’t stand for the bullshit in the movies that he put out.
You’re only a citizen if you’ve served two years in the Starship Troopers military. Only citizens can vote. Only citizens have the right to apply for a license to procreate with their partner. I’m sorry but that would be more towards the right side of things. I can’t name a single military veteran that would actually be cool with that. Yeah democrats getting into our highest position in the executive offices would absolutely mean budget cuts. Oh, and that means that they end up drawing back on forces or start kicking out soldiers for the simplest or pettiest of reasons. No that’s not a way to go ahead and start doing things either.
See the thing about Heilein here is that he had a very crazy view on things. He looked at the way that the U.S. was at the time and thought “hey we need to hand out more ass whoopin’s.” I’m sorry what? Yes, that’s right, the guy who wrote Starship Troopers thought that there wasn’t enough corporal and capital punishment now and days.
Now if you said something like all around I might could get around that if we were talking a little less harsh corporal punishments than used to be passed around back in the day. The women suffrage movement should have been an example for just women, but for everyone. We don’t need a repeat of the “rule of thumb” for the next poor soul that fucks up in a way that’s irredeemable to their partner. No, I’m down with corporal punishment if it’s with less severe crimes than the big ones. You know rape, child molestation, man slaughter, stuff like that. I think that we can all agree that child molestation needs to be more punishable than “three squares and a cot”.
But one thing that we’ve shied away from what we use to be, and it caused us as a nation. I’m not suggesting that we all of a sudden put Rico on the stocks and start whipping him. It was negligible homicide, and he didn’t know what he was doing leave the poor kid alone. No, if you really want to keep people together first you have to start with a set of minds that things need to be more punishable than they are. Go ahead and call the child molester out and sentence him to death. It’s been proven that its more cost effective to our jail system anyways, and who in their right or left mind wouldn’t want to protect their own children?
No people, one less murderer is still one less murderer. Make sure there’s a time period where they do a more in-depth investigation to make sure that we’ve got the right guy. Make sure that there weren’t any false allegations handed forward against the person you say is a child molester. But if you’re caught selling drugs to someone that you know are illegal and could get the person addicted then you should absolutely not be a seamstress getting that “three squares and a cot”. No hell no, but the person’s ass to work, make them take responsibility for what they did. Put their ass to work like we use to with chain gangs, there’s plenty of substantive materials that we could use the jail systems help on producing.
Of course, the libertarian in me is going to cry out…right…about…now! There’s something to be said though about repealing other things away. No direct profit for any given company in regard to the labor put for by the “chain gang”. Give the profit nation wide to those we put to labor, have them reap some sort of reward. You commit to A form of corporal punishment and rehabilitate them at the same time. Win, win.
Now that I’m off of my little pulpit there’s something that goes back to topic here. In Starship Troopers there’s one agreement that I can make with author. Some conflicts have to be resolved by force. One thing that I will absolutely agree and disagree with at the same time. We didn’t need to go to Iraq, but we did need to go to Afghanistan. There were terrorists that were wreaking havoc on the whole of Afghanistan and in order for those people to chose for themselves what and who they want to be we needed to weed that shit out. No, we didn’t go there to do that originally. Yes, we went there to get Osama Bin Laden. But it was something that once we found we couldn’t stand for as a nation.
So yes, I agree that if we have an incursion against us, like 9/11, then we have to retaliate just like we did or what happened in Pearl Harbor. But when we find further injustice and the people cry out, well fuck if they ask us for aide then it’s our responsibility to answer. Hell, no should we be looking for “WMD’s”. We all figured out what the ploy was there real quick. Yes, they had a dictator that was gassing them pretty much every day. But the responsibility belongs to those countries around them to take refugee’s and protect them.
So, there’s absolutely an answer to all this division we have…and yeah, we see it all the time in our media. We have to sit on our high horse as a nation and as a people and first cut the division bullshit and then stop being like “Star Wars” or “Starship Troopers” and agree to disagree. I parrot this bullshit all day long and damn near every freaking blog. We need the third party, libertarians, to go ahead and help things along so that the two warring political parties we have right now don’t divide and conquer us. We see this all the time in our movies and books. We have a choice, do we still want looting, rioting, and others reaching across the isle to call each other names and censor them…Or do we want to be like Palpatine and start the first “Galactic Empire” and make everyone fear us?

48 hours of farce and fury reignite stagnant Brexit debate
Tumblr media
(CNN)As we reach the end of one of the most dramatic weeks in the Brexit debacle, what have we learned about the state of the negotiations, the politics of the United Kingdom and the mindset of the European Union?
Brexit, as ever, is at an impasse. Rewind to Wednesday evening and that seems an absurd thing to say. British Prime Minister Theresa May had reached an agreement with the European Union on its withdrawal from the bloc and her Cabinet, after hours of tense discussion, had given her the nod to finalize that deal and take it to Parliament. Brexit, it seemed, was in its final stretch.
Then Thursday happened. At 8:50 a.m., May's Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab quit the Cabinet in protest over her deal, triggering the resignation of several other government ministers. The Prime Minister looked weaker by the minute.
Tumblr media
May then had to face a grueling three-hour session in the House of Commons, where MP after MP from all sides of the political divide said they couldn't support her Brexit plan. It was more than an hour before a single MP voiced support for her.
Hot on the heels of this indignity, rumors began to swirl that her Premiership was not long for this world, as rabble-rousing backbenchers publicly declared that they had lost confidence in her leadership and were actively seeking to remove her from power.
Tumblr media
As she announced a press conference for 5 p.m., the media scrambled to dust off their political obituaries, in the anticipation that she might throw in the towel. But she didn't; instead she vowed to push her deal through Parliament.
At the time of writing, May is still Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Sure, the prospect of a vote of no confidence in her leadership looms large, but despite 48 hours of high drama, very little has changed.
May still has a deal with the EU that everyone seems to hate. As it stands, it looks like she can't get that deal through Parliament, but is adamant she can win over MPs. Members of her own party still want to see her permanently evicted from 10 Downing Street, though this veers from a dead cert to a joke every 10 minutes or so. And the EU remains concerned, quiet, and adamant that it has given the UK every concession it can.
Tumblr media
At the center of this mess is the fact that Theresa May has come to personify a deal that very few UK politicians can get on board with. Those who want to scrap the whole thing and remain part of the EU are ignoring the fact that this is not a decision the UK can make unilaterally.
The Brexiteers who think that May has capitulated and given too much to Brussels willfully overlook the fact that there is hardly any time left to renegotiate anything. The withdrawal agreement is done -- this was a negotiation between 28 nations; one cannot suddenly reopen it (though there is some room to maneuver on the associated political declaration around a future partnership).
Tumblr media
And then there are those who think walking away is an option that wouldn't cause economic chaos, food shortages and present a very real public health risk.
Every position in-between comes with caveats that ultimately hinge on the key question: do you want an independent trade policy or a border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland -- something both the UK and the EU have committed to avoid at all costs from the start.
May, it seems, remains the only credible candidate with the only credible plan. Those who claim the whole thing can be easily torn up and renegotiated, or scrapped altogether, live in a fantasy world.
So what was all that about farce and fear? Ah yes. At the Cabinet meeting which took place earlier this week, Matthew Hancock, the UK's Health Secretary, said that there was a real possibility that people could die in the event of a no deal.
We've heard about queues of lorries at ports preventing food and medical supplies from entering the country and have seen what happens to the pound every time the Brexit process hits a stumbling block.
Tumblr media
But that's not as fun as the political theater of watching someone's leadership disintegrate right before your eyes.
Brexit is boring: lots of technical chat about regulatory alignment, financial services and fish.
You know what's more fun than fish? Speculating whether a Cabinet Minister is sending a coded message to the Prime Minister through his choice of breakfast before resigning from her government. That, or watching the entirely hypothetical number of letters of no confidence in May add up, only for the chief assassin to sheepishly concede that he might not have the numbers after all.
Tumblr media
These past 48 hours have provided the most entertaining days of Brexit coverage in some time. It makes better TV and better news copy. And I'd wager, for politicians, bored of having the life squeezed out of them by an insoluble problem like Brexit, such a day of high drama makes it all seem worth getting out of bed for.
And that's part of the problem. The public, the media and, seemingly, so many of the political class, are largely disinterested in where this all ends. That's despite Brexit being the single most important thing to have happened to the UK since World War II.
How MPs vote when the deal finally comes to the House of Commons will dramatically affect the lives of more than 66 million people inside the United Kingdom and millions more elsewhere.
It's a shame that listening to the detail surrounding it is like mainlining morphine.

Brothersblog by Brother James Key
American Antichrist In this brief article, I'll cover these topics: 1) a possible scenario concerning the general time of our Lord's Second Coming, 2) Christians standing together in an anti-christ world, 3) allegiance to Christ alone in a fallen-away culture, 4) the ungodly nation that leads the world, and 5) the biblical traits that describe the rising Antichrist. A Bit of Biblical Chronology You may be familiar with the research of creationist men of God like James Ussher and Frank Klassen in the field of biblical chronology. These men and many others have come to the conclusion that the biblical record tells us the history of the world is contained within about 6,000 years from the creation account to today. That is so interesting in light of the scripture, "One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8) It could be possible that just as creation happened in 6 days with the one day of rest, the Lord's History (His Story) on earth will last 6,000 years plus 1,000 years (the Millennium). Jesus gave us signs, so we could recognize the general time of His second coming. "When you see all these things, you know that He is near, right at the door." (Matt 24:33) The signs are all around us in these last days. Jesus told us we could not know the day or the hour. But He wanted us to know the general time marked by signs He gave us in scripture. Now that we see the many signs He gave us, we know it will not be very much longer to wait. (Hallelujah!) So here is the striking thing about all this: If we count 6,000 years from the time these students of Bible chronology concluded that creation took place, we come to about the year 2026. That general time frame is also 2,000 years from the time Jesus began His public ministry. The Antichrist could arise on the world stage now in order to amass power over time, and then fulfill the final years of events foretold in scripture concerning his wars and conquests and reign of terror. We have yet to see the establishment of the ten kings who will give him their power and authority. All the prophecies will happen as foretold, and the clock is ticking to God's appointed end. The Importance of This Conversation I believe it's so important that we talk about these things ahead of time - share our thoughts and prayers and feelings with one another. It will help us prepare for these very last days. Many people are saying we can't be 100% sure Trump is the Antichrist at this time. If the watchman stands on the wall and says to himself, "I am 99% sure I see a coming danger, but I won't sound the alarm because I'm not 100% sure" - he has chosen to err on the side of carelessness instead of choosing to err on the side of caution. I will choose to sound the alarm against the danger I see coming - even if some aren't yet 100% sure. The Bible tells us: One of the traits of the Antichrist is that he will persecute anyone who refuses to honor and acknowledge him. Trump comes down hard on anyone who dares criticize him. This is a man who cannot "let it go" when anyone pushes back against his bullying. We've seen him hold unrelenting grudges - and dismantle & destroy opponents. He is commander-in-chief of all the covert agencies of the US govt. How will he use them to deal with a critical news media? CNN and the Washington Post - and eventually even Fox News and Breitbart and Drudge - if they dare criticize him? The only news media survivors will be those who bow to him. When serious persecution begins, the tendency will be for many to say, "You wanted him and you got him! Now deal with it!" But let's not give in to that impulse. We need each other. We need to stand together with anyone Trump comes down on. His strategy has always been to divide and conquer. Serious persecution may begin with news reporters, and Mexicans and Muslims - before he turns his attention toward others who don't bow down. In the end, the Bible warns us that Antichrist will make war on the Christians and execute many - until his appointed day of doom. But let's not go down easy. Let's not let him pick us off one group at a time. Let's pray for anyone persecuted, and stand with them, and stand up for one another. Political differences, our denominational differences, all that won't matter anymore - it will be a time when all that matters is our devotion to Jesus Christ. Our Lord Does The Unexpected Christians have for years expected that when the time came, the Antichrist would no doubt emerge from the socialist-leftwing movement. I can't begin to recall all the times I've been told by Christians on social media that, "Obama is the Antichrist!" And now Obama has gone the way of Carter and Clinton - written into the dusty and seldom read history books. In spite of what was expected, looking at history, anti-christ dictators with an eye on world conquest have almost always emerged from nationalist-rightwing movements. Hitler, as a prime example, began his reign of terror with a patriotic band of zealots. People professing to be Christians in 1930s Germany were ready to follow that nationalist demagogue - because most had long since departed from true biblical Christianity. Christians in America have for years indulged in a worldview that baptizes Christianity in the muddy waters of nationalism. Let's be honest, for the past decade many Christians in the US have woven patriotic-religiosity into their Christian profession. The US constitution has been glorified as if it is divinely-inspired! But Christians are called to exalt only the Bible as the true divinely-inspired Word of God. If America's children are brought up with the notion that God's holy throne in Heaven is draped with the American flag, how will they ever be able to understand that love of God must be far and above love of any country? When all nations unite under an Antichrist world government, how will they understand the separation between what Christ expects of them versus what America expects of them? How will they discern Christ from Antichrist? Be honest: The majority of Americans have forsaken the God of the Bible to follow gods of this world. The policies of their government have long reflected greed and self-indulgence. The prophet Daniel talks about the 4th kingdom that comes upon the earth that is different from every other kingdom in history: It tramples and devours the entire earth (Dan 7:23). That iron kingdom (Dan 2:40) undoubtedly began as the ancient Roman Empire, but the original empire in Europe was only the beginning. America is the Revived Roman Empire, the Final World Empire, of both iron and clay (Dan 2:41). America is the most powerful military empire in all of history, with over 800 foreign military bases around the planet! No other world superpower has ever come close to such total domination over the earth. Donald Trump promises to "make America great again." We can be sure he will make some things look much better. If he is the Antichrist, the Bible says he will succeed in all he does until the appointed day of his destruction. So he will make many things look "great." But is anything really fixed without God's blessing? Is anything great if people are looking to a man and giving glory to man? Trump says, "I'm the only one who can fix it." That is a preamble to, "I AM THE ONE, DONALD J TRUMP, who makes things great. Give me the glory." Traits that Describe the Antichrist Does Donald Trump fit the description of the Antichrist? Depending on what Bible version you read from, the Antichrist is described as having a fierce countenance, a stern face. And he is described as understanding dark sentences - a master of intrigue (Dan 8:23). Some of those closest to Trump have let it be known that he studied the speeches of Adolf Hitler, a master of manipulation who knew how to use words to win over the people: Never defend, always attack. Deny, deny, lie and lie. Repeat slogans, repeat, repeat until the people believe you. Divide the people and blame "those people" for everything. "Truth was thrown to the ground" (Dan 8:12). What matters in Trump's world of propaganda is not the truth, but perception. In Trump's world, it's not about believing in the truth, it's about believing in Donald Trump. "He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does." (Dan 8:24) The book of Revelation says the world's people will ask the question: "Who can make war with the beast?" Who can make war with a military that overwhelms all nations? Donald Trump is the commander-in-chief of the mightiest military in all of world history. He will use it to "go out conquering and to conquer." (Rev 6:2)

Beyond ‘Freedom’s Frontier,’ Trump scores his biggest live show yet in North Korea
https://wapo.st/31XXmQy
I have a hard time comprehending why Donald Trump feels so much more comfortable with dictators( MBS, Putin, Kim Jong Un) of brutal regimes than other Democratic countries. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN? 🤔😨🤢🤮🥵😡🙃
Beyond ‘Freedom’s Frontier,’ Trump scores his biggest live show yet in North Korea
By David Nakamura | Published June 30 at 5:30 AM ET | Washington Post | Posted June 30, 2019 |
For President Trump, it was the biggest live show yet: A handshake with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, and then a short stroll together — beyond Freedom’s Frontier and into the Hermit Kingdom.
One small step for the 45th president; one giant boost for his television ratings.
Trump billed his third meeting with Kim on Sunday in the Korean demilitarized zone as a “simple handshake,” perhaps to play down the consequences if the get-together ultimately fails to break the deadlock that scuttled their last round of nuclear talks in Hanoi in February.
But the moment was more than simple — it marked another in a series of remarkable set pieces that Trump has used over the past two years — first to bully Kim, then engage him — in a diplomatic gambit that has no precedent.
Critics often accuse the media-obsessed president of trying to conduct complex diplomacy on Twitter, the place where “Little Rocket Man” and “fire and fury” were born during the early days of Trump’s tenure when he and Kim were chest-beating in a barrage of threats and insults.
Yet Trump has also carefully cultivated elaborately staged moments that, strung together, reveal a president eager to play the roles of producer and director, calling the camera shots, hyping the drama, and building public expectations for a big reveal.
There was Trump’s surprising callout at the State of the Union in January 2018 to a North Korean defector who raised his crutches in the air to an ovation in the House chambers as the president thundered about the Kim regime’s brutality.
There was the time he popped into the White House briefing room unannounced and instructed reporters to go to the West Wing driveway for a “major statement” — which turned out to be South Korean officials announcing that Trump had agreed to hold a first summit with Kim.
And there was the night in July 2018 when Trump, along with first lady Melania Trump and Vice President Pence, visited Andrews Air Force Base under darkened skies to greet three Americans who had been released from captivity in North Korea.
In each case, the common element was that the drama played out on live television, and the president played the starring role.
“I want to thank Chairman Kim,” Trump told reporters after their meeting at the DMZ. “If he did not show up, I know the press would make me look really bad. So I appreciated it.”
Skeptics have accused Trump of elevating style over substance in his North Korea strategy, pointing out that a memorandum signed by the two leaders in Singapore last year contained no detailed road map and helped lead to the unsuccessful summit in Hanoi. U.S. intelligence agencies said the North continues to develop its program in secret, even though it has maintained a testing ban on nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. Trump countered that each meeting is part of a larger process that eventually will yield results.
All presidents employ the elements of political theater to advance their governing agenda. The press pool of reporters that shadows the president by definition turns even his most mundane movements into a daily live journal, amplified in an era of social media and round-the-clock cable news.
Every president since Ronald Reagan, except George H.W. Bush, has visited the Korean DMZ, most of them donning a military bomber jacket and staring through oversized binoculars across the barren border.
But Trump has teased out his visit into a “will he or won’t he go” story line that began 20 months ago during his first visit to Seoul. On that trip — coming at a time when Trump was threatening Kim with a “much bigger” nuclear button — White House aides signaled to reporters that he would not visit because such theatrics had become almost a “cliche” — never mind that presidents generally go to give a pep talk to U.S. and South Korean troops.
In fact, Trump attempted to make a surprise visit only to be foiled when Marine One encountered bad weather and was forced to turn around. Still, Trump was able to create a dramatic moment later in the day when he delivered a speech to the Korean General Assembly filled with gruesome imagery of North Korea’s brutality spoken in vivid language.
Ahead of Trump’s visit to South Korea on Sunday, White House officials again attempted to tamp down expectations, telling reporters on a background briefing in Washington on Tuesday that there was no meeting scheduled with Kim.
But Trump, ever the showman, tweeted early Saturday while in Osaka for a global summit to announce that he would visit the DMZ, and he extended an invitation to Kim to meet him for a handshake.
Some experts, noting how much security goes into arranging head-of-state meetings, especially with a regime as paranoid about safety threats as the Kim family, speculated that the meeting was planned well in advance. But Trump, along with Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, stated Sunday that everything came into place after the president’s tweet. U.S. officials also said privately that they were caught by surprise.
Trump appeared to delight in keeping reporters guessing how events would unfold. He doled out blow-by-blow accounts of the negotiations over the handshake. “I understand they want to meet,” Trump said during remarks to business leaders in Seoul on Sunday morning.
“Chairman Kim wants to do it; I’d like to do it,” Trump said later at a bilateral meeting with Moon at the Blue House.
During a news joint conference in early afternoon, Trump declared: “We are going to the DMZ, and I’ll be meeting with Chairman Kim.”
At the DMZ, reporters gathered to cover Trump’s arrival. CNN went to live coverage with a view of the barren military installation and anchor Jim Sciutto tweeted a video of Marine One passing overhead.
Camera shots at times went fuzzy. At one point, color bars flashed on-screen, suggesting the satellite feed was lost. Then it went back on. Online streams showed footage of White House aides and security officials jostling with reporters. At times, a viewer could see Trump’s advisers in the frame — Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner — like familiar background actors in a recurring series.
Then came Trump, striding toward the dividing line between North and South Korea in Panmunjom village, where blue negotiating rooms straddle the 38th parallel. As he passed the cameras, his back now filling the frame, one could see Kim, tiny at first, then coming into clearer view, approach from the other side.
They shook and then Trump stepped over the line into the North — the first sitting president to do so. North Korea’s state media reporters rushed to capture the moment as Trump and Kim strolled about 10 yards to the steps leading to a building usually guarded by soldiers.
And then they turned and walked back toward the American and South Korean reporters on the other side. Soon, they were surrounded in a scrum and the president was addressing the cameras, flanked by one of the world’s most brutal dictators.
“I think it’s historic,” Trump said. “It’s a great day for the world.”
But the president wasn’t done yet. Speaking to reporters again after Kim had departed, Trump confirmed he had invited the North Korean dictator to visit the United States.
“At some point,” the president promised, “it will all happen.”

Pence: US generation of strategic persistence with North Korea over
US Vice-President Mike Pence has stated his united states of America’s “era of strategic endurance” with North Korea is over. Mr. Pence first made the remarks on the demilitarized sector (DMZ), the area dividing the 2 Koreas, in the course of a go to South Korea to reaffirm ties.
His go to comes amid escalated tensions on the peninsula, with heated rhetoric from each North Korea and us.
He arrived in Seoul on Sunday hours after North Korea carried out a failed missile release. On Monday, the USA and South Korea launched a joint air force military exercising to make certain readiness towards North Korea, in keeping with South Korean media.
Mr. Pence, whose father served in the Korean Struggle, visited the truce village of Panmunjom, where the Struggle’s armistice was signed.
Speaking alongside South Korea’s appearing President Hwang Kyo-Ahn later, he stated North Korea had conducted nuclear and missile assessments as the preceding US administration had observed a policy of “strategic persistence”, but this was now over.
“Simply within the past weeks, the arena witnessed the strength and resolve of our new president in movements taken in Syria and Afghanistan,” Mr. Pence said.
“North Korea might do properly now not to check his resolve or the strength of the armed forces of the united states in this area.”
He reiterated US support for South Korea, telling his host: “We’re with you 100%.” Mr. Hwang hailed the early deployment of the debatable US missile defense device (referred to as Thread) designed to shield towards threats from North Korea.
Us vice-president said he become disenchanted that China had taken retaliatory movements towards South Korea in reaction to the flow. What North Korea Really Wishes Traditional geopolitical thinking has lengthy assumed that North Korea has pursued an unrelenting campaign of provocations, its illicit nuclear application, or even a nuclear weapons take a look at with the objective of assuring the survival of its current regime. In the direction of that quit, an exasperated Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice these days told CNN, “there is no aim to invade or assault them. So they have that assure… I do not know what more they need.” It’s far that “more” that North Korea Needs this is In reality riding North Korea’s actions. North Korea Needs the U.S. To withdraw its forces from South Korea, stop its navy responsibilities to the South, and in the end, Korean reunification on its terms.
North Korea has long sought to reunify and vicinity the Korean Peninsula below its totalitarian rule. On June 25, 1950 it launched an invasion of South Korea only to have its forces rolled returned by way of big U.S. Intervention. ultimately, following Chinese language, and to a lesser quantity, Soviet intervention within the conflict, the boundary among the 2 Koreas was set on the 38th Parallel.
Given that then, North Korea has endured in its name for reunification. beneath Kim Jong-il, that call for reunification has grown more urgent. North Korea sees Korean reunification as “the decision of history,” North Korea’s Korean Valuable Information Agency (KCNA) defined on January 11, 1999. “For the Korean country, not anything is greater crucial than national reunification and no project is extra urgent than it,” KCNA introduced. On October 4, 2006, KCNA declared, “To obtain the reunification of the us of a is the maximum urgent venture dealing with the Korean country.”
Kim Jong-il and his authorities consider they’re the ones who will bring about Korean reunification. On August 5, 2002, KCNA pronounced, “country wide reunification is sure to come under the leadership of Kim Jong-il, the solar of the 21st century and the lodestar of national reunification.”
Whilst discussing its pursuit of reunification, North Korea employs frequently soothing language. On January 7, 1999 KCNA defined, “To achieve the notable team spirit of the entire country is a decisive assure for the independent and non-violent reunification of the place of birth.”
there may be not anything reassuring approximately North Korea’s requires reunification. As a substitute, North Korea is borrowing from Bloodless Battle generation propaganda efforts that were aimed toward dividing Western popular opinion. As an example, a declassified memorandum to the director of the CIA issued on December 21, 1961 discovered of the U.S., “The nonviolent coexistence line, far from being an abandonment of Soviet expansionist goals, is a tactical prescription drastically extra effective than the compound of heavy-handedness and isolationism which changed into Stalin’s foreign policy.”
At closer inspection, the fangs of North Korea’s totalitarian dictatorship are slightly hid. “South Korea need to no longer rely on the out of doors forces, however take the manner for reunification thru alliance with communism and the north,” KCNA recommended on January four, 1999. An “alliance with communism” could suggest that South Korea might be required to include North Korea’s totalitarian gadget. The January 7, 1999 KCNA file brought, “The five-point policy as well as the ten-factor application of the splendid solidarity of the entire country recommend via President Kim Il Sung are the banner the whole state should uphold and the political software of super unity they ought to continually protect and realize without fail.” Later, on March eight, 2003, KCNA expected, “All of the Koreans within the north, the south and abroad will work difficult to accomplish the cause of national reunification under Kim Jong-il’s seamanship and thus glorify [the] dignity and honor of Kim Il Sung’s kingdom.” What is most revealing on this statement is that North Korea, now not South Korea, would be “glorified” by means of reunification.
At gift, It’s far the collision of this North Korean ambition and the U.S.-South Korean alliance this is riding North Korea’s foreign coverage in stiff defiance of the need of the United Nations and North Korea’s associates. North Korea is searching for to convert the environment to the point where it possesses the leverage to bring an quit to the Korean Armistice Agreement of 1953 and may negotiate reunification to its own terms.
In vicinity of the present Armistice Agreement, North Korea seeks a “non-aggression p.C.” that could mandate the withdrawal of U.S. Forces from South Korea and terminate the U.S.-South Korea army %. Then, South Korea might be rendered some distance more liable to a likely attack by means of North Korea. at the equal time, as U.S. Forces could not be impacted with the aid of feasible hostilities and there no longer would be a binding U.S. commitment to defend South Korea, the U.S. would have a ways less legal foundation to come to South Korea’s help. Furthermore, a bilateral non-aggression Agreement could make such intervention unlawful. This reality might substantially bolster North Korea’s diplomatic leverage.
At present, North Korea’s leadership has concluded that activities within the Middle East, South Asia, and East Africa have increased its opportunity to convert the geopolitical gambling area in its choose, without or with the aid of the global community. In 2003, Joseph Nye, Dean of Harvard College’s Kennedy College of government trumpeted, “If all of us doubted the overwhelming nature of U.S. military strength, Iraq settled the difficulty… now not Because Rome has one nation loomed so massive above the others.” 3 years later, North Korea sees handiest weakness. U.S. Forces in Iraq appear hapless within the face of a 50,000-guy insurgency, the Taliban is waging a comeback in Afghanistan, and radical Islamists affiliated with Al Qaeda have “tagged” Somalia with no U.S. reaction in anyway. Moreover, North Korea sees America as “isolated” in the global community. In assessment, North Korea believes it enjoys world support. “Kim Jong-il has devoted himself to the human cause of independence for a long time,” KCNA declared, “The [world’s] revolutionary human beings repose absolute trust in him.”
At a time Whilst It’s far unimpressed with U.S. army capabilities and sees best U.S. weakness, North Korea believes It is invincible. On October 10, KCNA boasted, “The unmarried-minded harmony of the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] in the Songun [strong military-centered state] technology represents an indestructible harmonious complete in which the military and the humans are intently united… It’s far developing ever more potent… The single-minded team spirit of our party and navy is unbreakable.” The Information Business enterprise also proclaimed, “Our birthday celebration will constantly display its might as an indestructible celebration that remains unshaken in any storm and strain and a militant birthday party capable of doing something…”

Do You Operate in a Social Media Bubble? 3 Questions to Ask
In Lewis Carroll’s fantastical tale Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There, the eponymous heroine discovers a very different world on the other side of a mirror, occupied by people and creatures she never imagined could exist.
Yet, were we to look into the same looking glass, we would see ourselves reflected. Any different realities, ideas, and viewpoints of another world would remain out of view.
Welcome to the world of social media filter bubbles — where what you see is very definitely NOT what you get.
“Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast”
I can’t trust my social media feeds anymore. My various streams, timelines, and news feeds made it easy to believe it was impossible that the United Kingdom would vote to leave the European Union; that Australia would re-elect the Liberal government; and that Donald Trump would become the Republican nominee.
In reality, the EU referendum was decided by a very narrow margin, reflecting a far more polarized and divided country than most people realized. Meanwhile, the Australian election was so close that at the time of writing, I still don’t know who will be the new Australian prime minister. As for the U.S. presidential race, well, I’m clearly missing something.
I don’t rely on social media for my news and current affairs, so I was aware from other sources that the EU referendum and Australian election were going to be much tighter than any social media commentary might suggest. Yet many demographics increasingly get most of their news and opinion from social, without always clicking to read the detailed analysis behind the slogans and headlines. No wonder so many Remain voters were shocked and surprised by the outcome of the EU referendum. These trends also make filter bubbles open to politically motivated manipulation.
There are always at least two sides to any debate. Yet instead of providing a window onto the world, social media has become a massively distorted and personalized fantasy. Our own social media access increasingly reflects our own views, values, and opinions, strengthening our resolve and justifying our beliefs, while hiding or distorting any objective appreciation of the alternatives.
“What I tell you three times is true”
We are bombarded with so much content and information every day that conscious or unconscious filters are not only inevitable but also necessary to help us make sense of it all.
Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, we are less likely to follow, read, and engage with those with whom we disagree. Be honest — whether you vote Republican or Democrat, Leave or Remain, Left or Right — are you more or less likely to follow someone with polar opposite views?
While we may have some alternative voices in our networks, chances are that they are far fewer and often tolerated only up to a point. If you’ve ever blocked, unfollowed, or hidden someone’s posts from your newsfeed because you don’t want to see any more of their objectionable-to-you views, then you’re already guilty of reinforcing your filter bubble in the name of comfort.
Echo chambers are nothing new. We’ve always had a choice of which news sources or media pundits to follow — Fox News or CNN, Glenn Beck or John Oliver. Each choice usually has a clear bias. The one-way broadcast nature of mass media, however, is very different from the free-for-all, shout fest of social.
Social media has allowed us all to become media pundits, shouting loudly about whatever beliefs are most important to us right this moment to a much wider audience than we may realize.
Social media algorithms also have the potential to further reinforce and amplify filter bubbles by tracking our behavior to give us more of what we like and less of what we don’t. If we regularly click “like” on news stories that align with our views, we’ll see an increase in similar stories from similar sources.
And filter bubbles aren’t confined to political beliefs. They can be shaped by religion, science, even our individual sense of humor — whatever our beliefs and values are. For example, my wife’s social media environment is starkly different from my own, even though we share many of the same beliefs. Our individual social media environments have become personalized far more than broadcast mass media ever could.
“You know very well you’re not real”
What can marketers learn from this? Can filter bubbles prevent your content or message from getting through to the very people you hope to reach? The short answer is “yes,” and it’s probably only going to get harder as increasing social media dependencies, algorithms, and the sheer amount of competing content further change the landscape.
Marketers can learn from the ways in which the EU referendum played out in social media.
1. Are you trapped in your own filter bubble?
Businesses and marketers can be just as blinded by filter bubbles as anyone else — particularly when guessing at the beliefs, wants, and behaviors of their target customers or audiences.
One clear example was the excruciatingly painful social media campaign by the Stronger In Europe camp that targeted young voters. The #Votin campaign (“Vote In”, get it?) worked on the not-very-deep-nor-accurate insight that young people sometimes drop their “g” when talking. A video was pushed in social that combined grating third-rate electronica beats with fast edits of “yoof” stuff like partying and graffiti, overlaid with chunky captions such as WORKIN, EARNIN, RAVIN, CHATTIN, SHARIN, LIVIN, GOIN, etc.
Source
Not exactly cutting to the heart of the political debate. Instead, this embarrassment of a campaign seemed to carry the simplistic message that votin’ was sorta cool and hip, yeah? This was a view of youth as seen from inside a very different filter bubble.
I’ve certainly worked with and for a few companies over the years that developed similarly distorted and unrealistic views of what the customer experience should be, because the decision-makers within the business lived inside a different social media filter bubble to the rest of us. This can lead to products, content, and customer experiences that might seem logical internally but leave customers cold.

2. Will your information even be trusted inside someone else’s filter bubble?
What might make perfect logical sense in one filter bubble might seem like nonsense in another, particularly when it draws upon differing assumptions.
A strong theme among Leave voters in the EU referendum was a deep distrust of economists, experts, and elite politicians, summed up by Leave campaigner Michael Gove’s infamous statement that “people in this country have had enough of experts.” Yet, the Stronger In Europe campaign continued to rely on those same economists, experts, and elite politicians without first addressing the reasons for that distrust.
What sources of information will your audience trust? Can you use influencers to gain authority?
3. Are you addressing the right issues?
Different audiences may have very different ideas of the key issues in a particular debate. For some, the EU referendum was about immigration. For others, it was about business. For yet others, it was about sticking it to the bureaucrats. Each required a very different approach to address those concerns.
Similarly, your perception of customer needs, expectations, and values may be very different from what your intended audience perceives from the other side of the looking glass.
Most marketers already use customer personas to gain some understanding of these differences. However, many merely note which social networks each persona uses so they can plan where, when, and how to distribute their content.
Instead, consider the different ways in which each persona will form distinct filter bubbles within those networks, shaping their attitudes and opinions. Will your content be welcomed or ridiculed? Will it even reach them at all or might it be filtered out for not appealing to the opinions and themes of that particular bubble?
Before we can understand the filter bubbles of our customers, we have to recognize and admit to our own. We are all trapped in filter bubbles of our own making and they’ll only become stronger and more distorted by algorithms and personal preference over time.
Yet, by using data and detailed analysis, we might be able to see the world through different eyes. In the end, there is no true reality. There’s just how each one of us perceives the world, recalling the final line of Through the Looking Glass, “Life, what is it but a dream?”

King Abdullah…a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
“If you ask me, am I a moderate or an extremist, I’m a Muslim.”– The words of Jordan’s King Abdullah II said in a CNN interview with Fareed Zakaria at al-Husseiniya Palace in Amman, Jordan
And so the man who claims to be a purveyor of peace will not admit to being either a moderate or an extremist, but know King Abdullah II is indeed an extremist…a wolf hiding in sheep’s clothing in fact…a wolf soon coming to Washington D.C. to meet with President Trump and try to fool him like he has fooled past presidents. Hopefully, our current president will see through his lies.
And Abdullah is indeed the spreader of lies as all roads to the problems in today’s Middle East lead directly back to Jordan and their relationship to the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al-Muslimun). The Muslim Brotherhood who, over the past 80 decades or so, has had their tentacles deeply entwined into Jordan’s Hashemite kingdom…a kingdom whose population is comprised of 60% citizens of Jordanian/Palestinian origin and 40% of those of tribal origin (known as East Bankers and of which Jordan’s royal family belongs)…a kingdom that allows the Brotherhood to hide behind the guise of calling itself Jordan’s premier ‘charitable organization’…but to those knowing the truth it is anything but charitable for with the Muslim Brotherhood charity comes with strings attached.
So while President Trump keeps being advised not to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization…advised by those truly not on America’s side or by those ignorant to the facts…know that Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and even Syria consider the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization whose goal is to overthrow their existing governments and install one of their own. One just has to look back to Egypt to see this has already been tried but thankfully, in the end, failed, for remember when the Muslim Brotherhood led the toppling of Hosni Mubarak’s pro-West government and installed their puppet President Mohamed El-Morsi who in turn was toppled by General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s military-led coup.
And know that the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella organization of sorts…an organization that controls the political, charitable, and the ‘so-called’ spiritual needs and activities of the growing Islamist movement within Jordan…a movement that basically supports all things sharia. And know that the Muslim Brotherhood has a long and sordid history in Jordan…a history of Jordan condoning if not outright supporting this most dangerous of groups.
Briefly, after the Muslim Brotherhood was born in Egypt in 1928, affiliated groups starting popping up throughout the region. In fact, then King Abdullah I of Transjordan wanted Abdul-Hakim Abidin, the brother-in-law of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna’s, to lead a new Jordanian government. And while he refused, the Muslim Brotherhood still became fully functioning and operational in both Transjordan and in then called Palestine by 1942 and was given ‘official recognition’ by King Abdullah I in 1946.
Then in April 1948, right before the creation of the Jewish State of Israel, the Muslim Brotherhood in Transjordan joined forces with their fellow Brotherhood members in Egypt to fight what became a losing war with now called Israel. And while they lost said war both Egypt and now Jordan continued to receive so-called ‘general supervision’…as in terror tactics and funding…from Egypt’s Mufti Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the region’s Muslim Brotherhood leader.
Now fast forward to present day Jordan where the Muslim Brotherhood maintains a close alliance with the monarchy, and know that King Abdullah II is directly tied to the Brotherhood no matter his and Jordan’s smoke-and-mirrors cursory role in the Syrian conflict and in the ‘War on Terror’…for the fact is that Abdullah is still paying off the ‘debt’ to the Brotherhood incurred by his late father King Hussein and his grandfather King Abdullah I before him. And that debt started in the 1950’s when King Hussein (who became king after the assassination of Abdullah l) relied on the Muslim Brotherhood…the region’s main Islamist movement at that time…to help protect his Hashemite kingdom against threats of revolution and overthrow from other Arab nationalist movements.
And as part of his debt to them, King Hussein then and King Abdullah II now both supported the Muslim Brotherhood becoming part of Jordan’s government to the point where their political party, the Islamic Action Front (IAF), continues to represent Jordan’s main political opposition force while directly being controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood through governance structures and financial ties.
And after the Muslim Brotherhood did so well in Jordan’s 1989 election…garnering 23 out of Jordan’s Parliament’s 80 seats…King Hussein allowed them to hold five ministry positions no matter that he reined them in a bit after their showing strong opposition to his peace treaty with Israel…a peace treaty in appearance alone as it is a peace treaty not to be trusted, for Abdullah the son has still not repaid that debt in full and he must do so or face reprisals by the Muslim Brotherhood’s henchmen…henchmen of both the political and tangible sort.
So when will this debt be repaid…only when the Muslim Brotherhood says it is.
Are you starting to see the problem now…a problem whose solution lies within both Abdullah II himself and the Muslim Brotherhood, for noticeable tensions exist between Brotherhood members over the need for internal reform as well as to define what its ties to the terrorist group Hamas will be0 And it is via those tensions that Abdullah hopes to divide and conquer by keeping the political faction of the Muslim Brotherhood as the kingdom’s and his personal and legally sanctioned vanguard, while the more radical and younger faction covertly becoming his link to Hamas…and the hoped-for demise of Israel for as it stands now Jordan is not really their friend.
And with Abdullah knowing well that unless he can make the “divide” work in his favor as well as repaying in full the debt of his father and grandfather, that he cannot nor will he be permitted to keep his throne, thus he allows the Muslim Brotherhood needed space to operate from, helping to assure that both his authority as king and the continuity of the monarchy in Jordan will remain…at least for the time being.
But Abdullah is also smart enough to know that with ISIS sitting on Jordan’s doorstep…that if ISIS surpasses the Muslim Brotherhood regarding grassroots support amongst the people (and know that over 2,500 Jordanian young men have already joined ISIS and that Jordan was one of ISIS’ black market oil customers), then he will surely lose control of Jordan for the Muslim Brotherhood will not take kindly to his not preventing this from happening. That is why Abdullah allows the Muslim Brotherhood, via its charity fronts, to keep the people’s support from waning. In other words they both pull each other’s strings to some degree…but with the Brotherhood pulling more strings…especially with both the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and terrorism in general still not settled, and with the fact that 6.3 million Palestinians are not happy with the king who denies them rights, privileges, and assistance other Jordanian non-Palestinians…as in the East Bankers…receive.
So King Abdullah II’s words that Islamic terrorism…of which the Muslim Brotherhood both fully supports and finances…is the “greatest threat to our region” and that “Muslims must lead the fight against it”…become mere empty words for all terrorism leads back to Jordan as ground zero because of Jordan’s decades-long support for the Brotherhood. And Abdullah knows this but will try his best to keep this fact hidden from others.
How so…one just has to look at how Jordan currently responds to terrorism within its own country…or should I say does not respond…for the kingdom seems to close its collective eyes and look away when it does happen. Focusing on specific individuals deemed to pose a particular threat, the king dares not take into account the big picture involving the Muslim Brotherhood’s ties to terrorism because the big picture would expose the truth that under his rule Jordan has not punished or even spoken out against troublemakers operating from within the ranks of Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood for he dare not utter a word until his debt is paid-in-full…if even then.
And while the Muslim Brotherhood is now ‘supposedly’ illegal in Jordan…with ‘supposedly’ being done with a wink and a nod of course…the truth is that they still hold an ever-growing influence within the country by their freely being allowed to fuel the anger and resentment that simmers amongst young Jordanian Palestinians…Jordanian Palestinians that feel slighted by their government and who will now willingly join their ranks. And they have done just that to the tune of the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood having 10,000+ members and with their IAF party having over 4,000 members. In fact, the more discontent the Brotherhood stirs up…the more its more radical members side with Hamas…the more power they actually coalesce behind Hamas…power they then use to demand and get political concessions from Abdullah’s government.
And nowhere is this more apparent than to those who have been peacefully working for democratic reform within Jordan’s government…reform as in replacing the Muslim Brotherhood supporting monarchy with a secular government…those whose pro-Israel movement is known as the Jordanian Opposition Coalition and whose leaders the king either jails or expels from their homeland. These are the words of Dr. Mudar Zahran, Secretary General of the Jordanian Coalition Opposition:
“Shockingly, while the king puts all seculars in jail and sentences me, the head of the secular opposition, to live in prison, he allows the Muslim Brotherhood to have their own charity, which is now worth over 4 billion dollars, their own TV station, and their own daily newspaper, and he even went as far as shutting down the opposition parties that oppose the Muslim Brotherhood and this is documented.” “What most Americans and Israelis don’t understand is how many Arab regimes work this way and play on them.”
And how very right Dr. Mudar Zahran is.
Now as for Hamas’ somewhat recent breakaway of sorts from Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood’s leadership and King Abdullah II’s role in how they operate….first, while Hamas remains part of the Brotherhood’s ideological base organization they do operate independently from them as it benefits strategically (in their war against Israel) both from Jordan’s Palestinian presence and it’s 60% and growing Palestinian population. And second, those very numbers allow Hamas to operate in the open while Abdullah looks away as the Hamas-linked reformist sector gains control of the IAF who are no longer content with the political role they had traditionally played in Jordan, as now they want to be influential players in the political decision-making process. And thanks to Abdullah’s inactions and his still ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, they are.
In other words, Hamas, coupled with the Muslim Brotherhood, is making major policy decisions regarding Jordan’s role in the Middle East…a role that has turned more observational than tactical as was promised by Abdullah. And with Hamas’ numbers continuing to rise means Abdullah has basically become politically impotent as opposition to his government has become more radical, and this is why Hamas has been able to position its sympathizers amongst the leadership of the country’s Islamists…whose numbers are also increasing.
And that is also why the Muslim Brotherhood hierarchy is concerned about Abdullah because as Hamas’ influence grows throughout Jordan they become relegated to second tier string-puller status. And you know that does not sit well with the Brotherhood in regards to Abdullah’s repaying of the debt owed because they can see that as Hamas increases its power they have already started to lose some of the benefits and protections they were afforded by Abdullah. And that makes for a very unhappy Muslim Brotherhood who now are forced to pull the (figurative) noose tighter around Abdullah’s neck, which means he cannot be trusted to work on Jordan’s behalf, on America’s behalf, or even to uphold the peace treaty his father signed with Israel for King Abdullah will throw all under the Muslim Brotherhood bus to save his own neck.
And now we have come full-circle back to the beginning.
“The brotherhood is everywhere in the world where there are Muslims,” so said Murad Adeleih, spokesman for the Islamic Action Front (IAF), the Muslim Brotherhood’s Amman-based political wing.
And Abdullah’s response: “I think he is right and I think this is something that has to be understood on a much larger platform because they’re looking for legitimacy that they don’t have inside of Islam. When we’re asked in this debate, you know, are you a moderate or extremist – what these people want is to be called extremist. I mean, they take that as a badge of honor. If you ask me, am I a moderate or an extremist, I’m a Muslim…”
And King Abdullah II’s response makes him an extremist because like I have always said…” if you do not condemn you condone”…and nowhere has the king condoned either the Muslim Brotherhood or Hamas nor any of their actions. And this is why when Abdullah meets with President Trump next week, Trump must not only have both eyes open but have his ears focused not on what Abdullah says but on what he does not say.
A lot of futures depend on President Trump doing just that.

King Abdullah…a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing
