"Rhys?"

My soft whisper was met with silence; my mate remaining in the depths of slumber, an arm draped over my waist as we lay entangled in our plush sheets. It was still dark outside, only a couple of hours having passed since we turned in for the night and yet I awoke; overcome with an urge I had never felt so intensely before.

"Rhys?" I whispered again, touching his cheek gently and saw a flicker in the muscle of his jaw.

"Rhysand…" I pressed, my heart racing in hopes I could coax him into consciousness as tenderly as possible.

"Yes…?" He muttered, voice thick with sleep and eyes remaining closed.

"Rhys…" I hesitated, moving in a little closer to him as I murmured sheepishly. "I'm...hungry,"

His dark brows pulled together in confusion, "Hungry?" he asked.

I nodded, my head rubbing against his shoulder with the motion. "Starving, actually," I admitted as I traced circles along the dark whorls of his tattoos.

I grinned as he opened his eyes, still perplexed as he turned to me. "You didn't eat at dinner?" He asked, concerned, and I giggled.

"I did. You were there remember?"

"That's right," he closed his eyes again with a sigh of relief, the hand on my waist drifting to my rounded stomach pressed against his side. "We went to Sevenda's with the others and you had the prime rib special."

My stomach growled at the memory, and I choked back a rising sob. "Yes…"

He opened his eyes again, alarmed at the sound of unshed tears in my voice. "What's wrong, Feyre?" he asked, fully alert now as he shifted onto his side to look down at me.

I felt my eyes burn, suddenly overcome with guilt for making him worry and for waking him up, but I couldn't resist the ache in my stomach.

"I want more," I whispered.

He blinked, taken aback as he stared at me. "Of the prime rib?" He clarified.

I nodded with a hiccup. Cauldron damn these hormones. "I need it Rhys. We need it." I said, placing my hands on my stomach.

Rhys breathed a sigh of respite, laughing breathily as he dropped his forehead against my collarbone. "Oh Feyre, you scared me."

"I'm serious, Rhys, I'm so hungry and that prime rib was so good. I need more of it, or else-"

"Of course, my love, whatever you want," he hurriedly reassured me, kissing my cheeks before pulling back to meet my gaze.

I sniffed as I stared into his violet eyes, sparkling with amusement. "Really?"

My heart lifted at the feline grin on his lips, "Yes. Would you like everything that came with it too?"

I brightened and nodded, "Yes. Please."

He chuckled and pressed a chaste kiss to my lips before pulling back and climbing out of bed. "I'll be right back, then."

I beamed as I pushed myself up slowly, a month of growth on my abdomen now weighed me down and I required a little more effort when rising from any laying or sitting position. In the month that passed since the summit, since Eira's birth, we had all fallen into a sense of ease. Prior to the summit, Rhys and I did our best to compose our nerves over the rising coup, but now with the full support of our friends at our back, we finally felt a sense of solace. We were still in a period of waiting—of gathering more intelligence on Keir, Kallon, and now Beron. Thanks to Azriel's continued spy work, we were assured that no advancements were being made on either front, so we all allowed ourselves to breathe easier—for now at least.

The only wild card that remained was Eris, but after a brief meeting with him at our moonstone palace above the Court of Nightmares, things seemed...placated, for the time being. The eldest of the Vanserra sons, and heir to the Autumn Court, assured the earlier theory Rhys had—that the male wanted our support in overthrowing his father. What surprised me, however, was that it was all he wanted. He swore he played no part in his father's plans with Keir, and to prove it he provided us with detailed, secret, reports from his father's general; whom he had rallied to his side as well. The reports accurately lined up with the intel Azriel's network of spies had collected, and as of recently divulged a lack of movement as well.

It seemed the trio of traitors were biding their time, presumably attempting to adjust their plans now that the entire continent was aware of my pregnancy. We knew better than to assume they would reel back on the coup because of this; instead deciding to strike before my child had a chance to be born. The threat still haunted us all, but until we had news of any change in plans, we had to wait. In the meantime, Rhys, our family, and I were making the best of it. True to the promise I made myself, having seen how curious and eager Cassian had been in learning about my pregnancy, I spent as much time with them as I could. To aid in our efforts, Rhys and I hired a personal assistant to help balance our workload as High Lord and High Lady; agreeing that we needed the help while we transitioned into preparing for parenthood. That assistant was Clotho, the mute priestess who served in the library of Velaris, and one of the only other fae Rhys or I could trust outside of the inner circle. The priestess humbly agreed and now split her time between our estate and the library. Despite not being able to outwardly express herself, Rhys assured me that she was ecstatic to hear of my pregnancy and wanted nothing more than to help us balance our work between ruling and parenting.

In the month that passed, not only were we able to de-stress a bit and enjoy leisure time with our family, but I had also observed a notable change in myself. While my belly, now an impressive, rounded mound that was pronounced no matter what I wore, continued to grow with the promise from Madja that our son was still as healthy as ever; I noticed a myriad of developments in my emotions. While I did find myself with more energy than I had in the early days of my pregnancy, that frequency in fatigue now seemed to trade places with erratic mood swings. One minute I would be as happy and content as ever, and in the next beset with unexpected gloom. However, everyone seemed to take it in stride—especially my mate, who simply smiled and listened to me rant or just held me when I needed to cry.

Along with my renewed energy, my appetite returned with a vengeance. The same three meals I ate everyday no longer sated me, and I found myself snacking on various things throughout the day. There had been an incident a few weeks ago where I watched in total envy as Azriel snacked on dried meat in between training with Cassian and Rhys—something the brothers had picked back up in part due to the looming threat, but also as a means for entertainment. It wasn't until Cassian noticed me on the verge of tears and snatched the meat from Azriel, casually offering it to me, that I realized I had officially started with pregnancy-related cravings. The cravings hadn't been so intense; until tonight, when I had been ripped from sleep by my growling stomach and the desire to have another helping of dinner had me waking my mate from his sleep.

"Do you think she still has those leftovers?" I asked as I watched him dress.

"I'm sure she has plenty left reserved for you, Feyre darling. She saw how much you loved it," he replied with a knowing grin.

My face warmed as I recalled how the restaurateur offered to pack up extra servings for me to bring back to the estate, but I had been too embarrassed at the extra helpings I already consumed during our stay and politely refused.

"I didn't want to look like a glutton," I admitted sheepishly.

He walked over, resting his hands on the bed as he leveled our gazes. "No one would think that. You're pregnant and feeding the heir to the Night Court. They know he needs to eat, even in the middle of the night," he said and gave me another chaste kiss before stroking a hand along my stomach affectionately.

I smiled. "That's true. It's just hard to keep up when I feel absolutely ravenous every few hours."

He smirked appreciatively as he rubbed my stomach again, "Is there anything else my son wants?"

"Strawberries," I answered quickly. "With chocolate, or whipped cream."

Rhys laughed and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "Whatever you want, my love," he repeated and stood upright.

I waited for him to return as patiently as I could, pacing between our bedroom and balcony every few minutes before finally pacifying myself by sitting with a book on the cushioned bench of the balcony. In order to keep myself distracted, I read a book of plays aloud in hopes that my growing baby would be patient in his insatiable appetite. The sound of my voice must have appeased him, because as I continued to read, my hunger seemed to dull a bit. However, after a few minutes passed, I felt his kicks of protests and rubbed at the spot.

"If you have such a problem with my reading, then talk to your father. He's the one that taught mama how to read," I said, and my heart warmed at the memory of my lessons with Rhysand in my early days at the Night Court. "Maybe he'll teach you to read too."

"We both could," I heard Rhys say from behind me and I whipped my head around to see him holding a bundle of food.

I pushed myself up unceremoniously, eager to eat as the smells hit my nose. "That's so much food!" I exclaimed as he walked over and placed the bundle on the small table we kept on the balcony.

"Sevenda might've given us some more food she thought you might enjoy," he answered with a laugh before snapping his fingers and the food instantly displayed out before me.

I gasped in admiration before Rhys pulled out a chair for me and I happily sat, digging into my meal immediately and moaned with relief as the savory juices of the prime rib hit my taste buds.

Rhys sat next to me, casually grabbing a strawberry from the bowl he had also laid out and snacked on it as he regaled me while I indulged myself. "You truly are a sight to behold, Feyre darling."

I felt my face warm and dread filled my chest as I swallowed a mouthful. "Do I look like a pig?" I asked, that dread beginning to ebb into shame.

"No, no." He quickly reassured me, moving closer until our knees were touching. "I meant the sight of my expecting mate enjoying herself, of nourishing my growing child, is one I never dreamed I'd see," he explained. His hand came to rest on my stomach again as those beautiful amethyst eyes grew tender.

I squeezed his hand gently, "You deserve it Rhys. This child is a culmination of everything that is good about you; of all the good you've done in your lifetime."

His eyes were lined with silver as they met mine, and I moved my hands to cup his face. "He will be all the best parts of you, Rhysand."

"And of you," he swore. "You brought out the best in me Feyre. Everything that I am, that I have now, including this child, is all because of you."

My heart pounded with joy as I beamed and pulled him in for a kiss. He returned it with just as much fervor and heat began pooling in my core. When he pulled away too soon for my liking, I kissed him again-slowly, and nipped at his bottom lip.

I felt the fiendish smirk of his lips on mine as he muttered, "I thought you were hungry?"

"I'm hungry for something else now." I whispered, staring at him with half-lidded eyes.

I shrieked with a laugh as he scooped me up in his arms, my legs easily hooking around his waist as the food from the table suddenly disappeared and he carried me over to the nearest wall.

The following morning, I was pleased to see Rhys still in our bed and even more delighted to still be wrapped in his arms. He had a tendency to wake before I did these days and often got a head start on his work, allowing me the opportunity to sleep in and get the rest my body needed. However, after the night we had, I wasn't too surprised to see him needing the extra sleep. I smirked mischievously as I lightly traced along the tattoos on his chest with my own tattooed fingers, relishing in his scent as I recalled the details of our night that extended into the early hours of the morning.

It was a welcome change of pace after the stress that weighed on us; one we needed now more than ever with a youngling on the way. The days of just the two of us were set to expire in a few months; soon to be filled with a new life we would have to work together to sustain—all while balancing our duties of presiding over the Night Court. I often tried not to let the weight of that responsibility stress me out; knowing we had our whole family to rely on, but now that I was nearly halfway through my pregnancy, I wanted more of this time alone together.

I felt dark talons gently caress my mental shields and I smiled as I lowered them enough for my mate, who kept his eyes closed despite now being conscious. I allowed him into my thoughts; letting him know of my yearning for the quality time we had just experienced together as a lazy hand caressed my stomach.

"Let's go to the Cabin for a few days," he said after a couple of minutes passed.

I pushed myself up on an elbow, staring down at him as his sleepy violet eyes met with mine. "Really?" I asked, already keen on the idea.

He nodded in affirmation. "Cassian and Azriel are keeping the appropriate tabs on everything, and Clotho is set to meet with Mor and Amren today to go over some paperwork from the Palace Lords in Velaris," he explained.

I nodded. "My sisters also have their own agenda," I added. "Elain plans to drag Nesta to the market, or one of the palaces, today."

"So, we can get away," Rhys said. He brushed a stray lock of hair out of my face and I nodded again.

"Let's go now." I said, eager to escape with my mate.

It had been months since we set foot in the Cabin together. There were times he or I visited alone to let off some steam, sometimes meeting each other by the end of the day, but it was the first time we would go together since Winter Solstice; the first time since I fell pregnant, and I couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic.

Rhys smiled languidly. "Right now?"

I nodded and pushed myself up carefully, staring down at him with a grin. "Right now," I confirmed.

His smile shifted from lazy to determined as he sat up in the bed. I reached over to pull on my silky dressing gown and robe as he climbed out of bed and dressed. I laughed as he scooped me up in his arms and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"We'll have to bring the baby too," I said in mock disappointment.

He chuckled as he walked over to the balcony. "That's all right. We'll consider it our first trip as a family."

The next thing I knew, we were in the sky, Rhys's powerful wings easily propelling us from our balcony and into the air in a matter of seconds. I held onto him as I felt the warm breeze encircle us and whoosh through my hair as he took us to our destination. I watched his wings as they moved; strong and beautiful, and felt a kick from inside my stomach.

"Do you think he can tell we're flying?" Rhys asked.

"Maybe," I said as I felt another swift kick and rested a hand on the spot. "It's okay baby, daddy won't drop us."

"Never," Rhys affirmed.

I looked up at him, "Do you think he'll have wings?"

The corner of Rhys's lips twitched upwards. "Of course he will. Maybe not at birth, but they'll come."

"Were you born with your wings?" I asked, admiring how the sun reflected off the iridescence of them as they moved in unison.

He shook his head. "My mother was hopeful they would develop as I matured, and a day after my eighth birthday they appeared," he said.

"Just like that?" I asked with a smirk.

"Magic."

I laughed and traced a finger along the membrane of one as it moved within my reach. He stiffened at my touch and I grinned playfully.

"Illyrian baby," I teased.

"If it weren't for my son in your belly, I would demand you fly us to the Cabin and see how you fare while I stroke your wings," Rhys taunted.

I giggled and pecked his cheek, keeping one arm draped around his neck while the other rested on my stomach. I paused as realization struck.

"Is that when your mother brought you to the mountains?" I asked.

Rhys nodded, already knowing what I referred to. "I think she was going to bring me regardless, but she was eager for me to fly and learn the Illyrian traditions."

The silver in his violet eyes flecked with a hint of sadness as he recalled the memory of his mother. The current status of our relationship with the Illyrians put a strain on his heart. He grew up with them, found his brothers amongst them, and their participation in the coup was the last thing he ever wanted. I laid my head on his shoulder in order to provide him with some comfort, not wanting either of us to dwell on that heartache during our little getaway.

His fingertips brushed the side of my stomach lightly as he held me closer. "I want him to learn, to train, like I did," he said.

Although he didn't ask, I heard the question in his words and I nodded. "He's Illyrian, just like you."

He pressed a kiss to my temple and landed on the steps leading to the Cabin, setting me on my feet carefully and I smiled reassuringly at him before taking his hand as we both walked to the entrance. As soon as we walked in, the fire in the hearth ignited and the rest of the house sprang to life with a wave of Rhys's hand, immediately accommodating us. A second later, platters of food appeared in the kitchen and I beamed.

"I love it here," I said as I strolled over to the counter, picking up a piece of perfectly crisped bacon and took a bite.

Rhys smiled roguishly as he joined my side, taking a slice of bacon for himself. "It's just what we needed, especially after your ravenous cravings kept me up all night. In more ways than one," he said with a wink.

I threw my hand up in a vulgar gesture. It's not like you were complaining. I said through the bond.

Indeed not, my love.

I sat at one of the raised chairs beside the counter, looking over the paintings I had filled in the room all those years ago—when I escaped here for the first time after learning he was my mate. I ate as I reflected on the last decade; at how it had brought us here, with our son now growing inside of me.

"I want to give birth here," I said after a comfortable silence had befallen us.

Rhys paused. "Really?" he asked.

I nodded, resting a hand on the apex of my belly. "It feels right. This is where I accepted our mating bond; where we decided to start trying for a baby, and I'm pretty sure this is where he was conceived too," I said with a smile, having done the math in my head. By the time I realized I was pregnant, on Starfall, I was already a couple of months along; meaning our attempt to conceive on Winter Solstice—as we did every year, had been successful

He smirked in return at the memory; it was somewhat of a tradition he made of bringing me here on my birthday. "My mother gave birth to me, and my sister, in this cabin," he said. "With the help of some Illryian midwives and some camp-mothers."

"Then it's perfect," I said softly.

He reached down to stroke my stomach gently. "I want to be there," he said. "In the room, while you give birth. Through all of it actually. I know it isn't traditionally done, my own father waited outside the room both times, but I want to be there and hold your hand when my son comes into the world. Just the thought of you going through labor, of enduring all that pain alone," he shook his head as if to erase it from his mind. I squeezed his hand reassuringly.

"I wouldn't want you anywhere else, Rhysand." I said, not at all surprised at his declaration.

A week after Eira's birth, Viviane and Kallias had both sent us letters-informing us of their daughter's arrival, fawning over her beauty and detailing how infatuated they already were, but also informing us of their own accounts of what the birthing process had been like. At the summit, Viviane expressed that she knew what to expect, but in her letter, she elaborated just how excruciating it really was. Luckily, Kallias had also been there with her, providing her with whatever support she needed and relieving as much of the pain as he could through back massages, also letting her clutch onto him for dear life as she suffered through pain after pain. I wasn't sure what Kallias had told Rhys in his letter, but shortly after my mate had summoned Madja and asked the healer to guide us through exactly what to anticipate.

"Are you nervous?" He asked.

I chewed on my lip in thought, recounting the gruesome details that both Viviane and the healer had laid out for me. The pain alone would come in constant, violent waves, and could last as long as a day.

"A little," I admitted. "But I know I'll be much more comfortable here; with you there."

"I'll be there every step of the way and do whatever I can to ease the pain." He promised, taking my hand and pressing a lingering kiss to it.

I smiled. "It'll be just the two of us, Madja, and the midwife."

The healer had told us that she worked with her sister, who served as a midwife for just as long as she had been a healer, when delivering younglings. Rhys and I readily agreed to have her along and made a plan to meet with her once I came closer to the end stages of my pregnancy.

I squeezed the hand that held mine, staring at the new tattoo that had formed from his renewed vow he made at the beginning of my pregnancy—when he promised not to let his male-bonded instincts shelter me unnecessarily. I ran my thumb over the crescent moon design.

"Do you think," I hesitated, mulling over my words. "Do you think...I'll be good at it?"

He paused. "At what? Giving birth?"

I laughed humorlessly, "No, not that. At...being a mother?"

I avoided his gaze, feeling the weight of those smoldering violet eyes as I continued to stare at the blue-black ink of his tattoo. After a few seconds of silence, his other hand came to grip my chin gently, tilting my head up so that I could meet those beautiful eyes.

My heart skipped a beat at the sincerity in them. "You will be an amazing mother, Feyre," he swore, his voice earnest.

My eyes burned as I thought of my own mother; of how imperious and cold she had been towards her daughters. I often wondered how she had felt when she was pregnant with us, because once we were born, she hardly bothered caring for us at all. Did she ever love us? She worshipped my father, her "one true love," but how could she not dote on the fruition of that love? Perhaps she had loved my father for what his wealth provided her instead, and the lavish lifestyle she lived-before she died.

"You are not your mother, Feyre." Rhys said, his hand moving from my chin to my cheek. "I already see the love you have for our son in your eyes, in your actions, every day."

I sniffed as I looked down at my stomach, heart swelling as I thought of my son—of how eager I was to hold and cherish him, and I couldn't fathom pushing him away. I nodded lightly as I wiped at the few tears that managed to escape.

"I just worry sometimes," I admitted.

Rhys nodded in understanding. "I worry about myself too," he said, and frowned. "I worry about being like my father; that I might be too hard on my son, and that I might age as cold and calculating as he did."

I shook my head, taking hold of the hand still on my cheek. "You could never Rhys," I said with the same smile I had given him last night—the same emotions in my eyes as I reminded him what this child meant for us.

I felt the tension leave as he sighed in content, resting his brow against mine as we both stared at my stomach; our thumbs caressing either side of it, holding our baby. I felt him move, sending kicks at both our hands, and we laughed; my chest swelled with hope that perhaps he could feel the love between us—at the love we shared for him.

A character analysation of IdV’s Bloody Queen

Bloody Queen AKA Mary is a hunter in the mobile/PC game Identity V. She is personally my favorite hunter because she is easy to learn but hard to master. Her backstory is something that has always interested me though, so i decided to compile my thoughts onto this one post.

Something i appreciate about IdV’s character roster is that some of them are based off of historical characters, and interesting ones at that. So expect a lot of history lessons and references that should be explained in order to understand a character fully (especially with Mary considering how there isn’t a lot shown about her backstory through promotional content, and im talking about stuff like the official website here).

With that in mind, let’s just get into it.

There is not a lot we know about Mary other than the fact that she is inspired from a mix of stories, those being about a French queen named Marie Antoinette and Bloody Mary. These two are used in seperate ways, Marie Antoinette’s story being used as heavy inspiration for Mary’s backstory and lore, while Bloody Mary is a visual/gameplay inspiration.

Mary’s description on her info page and on the official idv website is

This is strange because it really tells little to nothing about Mary besides her being aware that the position of a queen means a lot of vulnerability. It also strikes me as weird because every other hunter has a fleshed out backstory being written under this tab. (With the exception of Guard 26)

So overall, the ground to work on is pretty small, we dont have a lot of info revealed to us, and therefore leaves her to be a character who loses a lot of potential on a writing stance.

Intro Video

Mary does have an introduction video, though, which explains the base of what happened to her Pre-manor.

The video explains how Mary was the queen of a country that had a bad financial crisis which was so bad people couldn’t afford food (if we are sticking fully to the Marie Antoinette inspo, this was in the 1790′s) and the public felt as if Mary didn’t care enough to help her people, the citizens voted her to be beheaded under a guillotine. Truth be told, Mary was actually trying to help her citizens by giving them cake.

We have probably the most lore information about Mary from her deduction descriptions, which explain her career as a queen more in detail, about struggles she had and her situation in general.

Deductions

The first conclusion is clearly telling us that the king Mary married had a problematic family, and the king’s family probably only looked at Mary as someone who will keep the family’s name up, someone who will have a child with the king. (Also, dont get confused: Maria Theresia is Mary’s mother’s name, not her actual name.)

Mary used to spend a lot of time away from the palace in Petit Trianon, which is a manor located in Versailles. The secret letter tells us that Mary was egoistic, naive, and was kind of a glutton. The letter mentions how rumors are powerful, and are going to spread really fast once word comes out about the “incompetence” and lacking abilities witihin the royal family, which will eventually be Mary’s demise.

Princess Lamballe is once again a historical recreation of actual Priness Lamballe, a part of the Savoy House (Western EU country). In real life, Lamballe was actually the confidante (someone who you would discuss private matters with as a royal) of Marie Antoinette after her 1 year old marriage came to an end. IRL, Princess Lambelle dies along Marie Antoinette’s side as she gets killed in the French Revolution.

The shameful secret can really only be assumed to mean that Lamballe was actually Mary’s secret affair, especially looking at how all evidence suggests that the actual royal family Mary is connected to seems to be a mess. Mary is kind of confirmed to be wlw from this deduction which is fucking cool, but this rumor mightve been what also caused Mary to be beheaded. (But, IRL, the king Artois considered Marie to be physicially unattractive or even smart enough for him, in contrary to him, where he apparently was attractive. He did end up making up with quite a number of mistresses. But let’s not get into a conversation about how unhealthy or toxic royal relationships were in the 1700′s)

this is obviously saying Lamballe is being replaced by the Yolande (Countess of Polignac) as her confidante. IRL, this happens because the Countess of Pilognac and Lamballe start having quarrels against each other, in which they try to win over the queen’s heart, and over time Marie ends up preferring Yolande’s company. But Lamballe feels as if Yolande was a bad influence on the queen, yet she could do nothing about it. The friendship between Lamballe and Marie remained regardless, and she constantly admired Lamballe’s loyalty toward her. "She is the only woman I know who never bears a grudge; neither hatred nor jealousy is to be found in her."

Mary finally has a child, and it is a girl. Here we see the reinforcement of Lamballe’s loyalty, but with this conclusion also being titled as a rumor, it is also telling that this is one of many reasons people will start getting suspicious of Mary’s possible affairs.

This conclusion only leads me to believe that one of the several reasons why Mary was treated the way she was by the public was because of jealousy towards her life and the things she achieved at a young age. The description of the people who are spreading the rumors are bitter, sour people who take joy out of seeing the bad in successful people. Here is where it all goes downhill (as evident by the subtitle under the deduction title.)

We will once again need a little bit of a history lesson for this one:

Koblenz, first of all is a city in Germany. The reason why the French would ever think of even setting up anything in Germany was because of the French Immigrants, and the reason why the Germans were cool about this was because the archbishop-elector (one of the chiep bishop electors) was the uncle of Louis XVI-a persecuted king of France. Along with the refugees that entered the city, two of them was Louis XVI’s brothers: The Count of Provence and the Count of Artois. them, along with Louis XVI’s cousin, Prince Louis Joseph formed an army of aristocrats who would seek to fight for the Ancien Regimé (The name of the political and social system that was popular in France at the time.) In the meantime back in France, the Royal Family gave in and decided to adopt the Constitutional Monarchy, which was very modern at the time. This deduction description just basically explains that this is where Mary and the royal family fucks up, i just thought it would be interesting to know what they actually meant by what they wrote.

Yolande has left behind the Royal Family and made a run to escape the country. If you’re wondering, at the start of the revolution Princess Lamballe was actually in Switzerland, but as soon as she got notified of the situation she revisited the royal family to aid them, and reassumed her position.

This letter in particular is pretty cut-and-clear: the intention of the revolutionists was to smudge the royal family’s name in the dirt once and for all. What real-life anti-monarchist propaganda would consist of at the time was promiscuous imagery of Lamballe and the queen as lovers to further “besmirch” the queen’s reputation.

This is just obviously hinting at the aftermath of the French Revolutions and also telling us the present (at the time the letter was written). Mary gets executed by the Guillotine, and-well we all know how the rest of the story goes.

Overall, Mary’s deduction story is just a short summarization of what actually happened before and during the French Revolution: it even added the details of how actually sketchy and corrupt the royal family within was, not just the dissatisfaction of the public. As a summary of what this meant for Mary, as the Hunter, she feels pure bitterness, and anger towards the citizens for the way they treated her and the people around her. And as we can see, there was no reference towards Bloody Mary what-so-ever, and the reason why that is is because according to the Chinese version of IdV (which is what the original game’s region/language is) Her name actually would translate to “Madame Red”, not Bloody Queen. I think it was just the translators having fun with words, and since her design is very similar to that of what a person would think Bloody Mary looks like, i guess it made sense to them lol

But regardless, we’ll still take a look at Mary’s design.

Mary’s design is simple compared to other hunter designs in IdV. A simple, ball gown which was originally white, but turned red due to Mary’s beheading, pools of blood dropped all over her body. Mary also used to have long hair, but assumed by the very broken looking locks of hair, her hair probably was cut down by the guillotine. Eagle-eyed people will also take notice to her neck, which is stitched back onto the rest of her body, which the designers wanted to include really bad since its prevalent even in concept sketches as well:

Mary’s gameplay design is based solely on mythologies about Bloody Mary, however, which makes things kind of confusing, but i guess thats what idv excels at the most lol

I've felt targeted by reedwriites and Hannah who I think is softsapphic or something like that? I can't recall because I have them both blocked. But anyways, I feel like the way they engaged with me was very much different from how they did our white/nonblack peers. They have talked to me through the lens of the angry/irrational black girl stereotype. Whenever I would talk about politics or was being singled out in gcs, they would always get silent. I also know that they have called me 1/?

( con’t d ) various types of aggressive or mean or dramatic behind my back, which I'd hope we all know are extremely coded words when referring to Black women. When me and a white peer both had the same issue with them, I was aside, othered, talked down to, and ostracized despite trying to make it work. Meanwhile, the white peer got treated with the utmost respect and care for the longest until the peer ended things with them. These two seem to be popular and well liked and I shears thought no one would ever believe the things I experienced with them. Maybe these two didn't know what they were doing. But that just goes to show how racism is embedded into the white experience, and how little either of them have done to unlearn these behaviors, or reflect on these experiences. And at the end of the day these experiences hurt me DEEPLY, whether they knew or not. Facing racism irl is hard enough. I hate I experienced aggressions in this community too.

Hi, I'm the anon you're talking about. Honestly, I don't feel very comfortable coming off anon; Hannah and Reed are just too popular for me to wanna be attached by name, and that kinda scares me. I honestly think they might know who I am just from the messages, because I'm not sure how many Black people they know. I tried asking Reed earlier (anonymously) if they were white, because I wanted to make sure before I said anything wrong, but they refused to answer the anon, Ave I gave up . plus I don't think either of them will be willing to apologize to me. "It's still missing, Kei."

Now it had been three very long days that you had spent waiting for your cat to return.

In the meantime you had placed its favorite food everywhere around the house, you had looked around the whole neighborhood and you had reacted to every tiny sound that could have been your furry friend.

But it wasn't working. Whatever trick you tried, you weren't welcomed by a familiar meow when you came back home.

School started to get extremely draining for you these days - Nothing but your cat was on your mind. Your concentration decreased daily as your concerns were growing.

And Tsukishima noticed. Of course he did.

How tired you seemed to be the whole day because you hadn't slept well. That you were scribbling a paper to announce that your cat was missing, instead of listening to the teacher. The sad glance in your eyes and how you lost your appetite.

"75 percent of the missing pets come back within seven days. Try to distract yourself."

Facts, that's the only thing he could come up with. Positive numbers that might calm you down while you were checking your phone every minute. Maybe someone had found your cat ... No new message.

His heart dropped seeing you in a state like this. But what was he supposed to do - Telling you to be optimistic because it will definitely be back by the end of the day?

He knew that this most probably wouldn't be the case. So he didn't want to waste energy with lightening this fragile match of hope inside of you.

It would only cause you to break even more. To look more devasted tommorow. To cry when no one was looking.

Seriously, his own hopes for your cat's return weren't very high. Like you always said, this had never happened before. This behaviour was unusual.

Tsukishima didn't dare to talk about possibilities like a car accident or that someone else took it in. Even though they were on his clock.

You hadn't answered his comment about the chances that your pet might come back soon. Only two more lessons, then you would be able to go home and to search again.

Staring at your phone, which was laying on your table, a hand reached into your sight.

"Here. You need energy or else you will collapse soon," Kei said reproachfully.

A chocolate bar pointed in your direction for you to grab it. The purple packaging rustled as you took it, but one corner of your mouth rised a bit.

With the first teensy smile in days you thanked him: "My favorite flavor. Thank you."

This expression of you tore him apart as it was so far away from your usual self. He was sure that he had never seen you so pale and sleep-deprived before.

A silent sigh left his mouth in response.

You hadn't even touched your lunch again, like the past two days. What should he do, if your cat really never found its way back to you?

At least you were eating the chocolate bar to get some calories into your body.

"I've looked everywhere! At the playground, in the neighborhood, in our garden. Multiple times a day. I'm out of options," you listed between the single bites.

Every piece was harder to swallow when you started to think about your cat's fate again.

Kei couldn't hear it anymore how you hurt yourself even more with those words. Resting his chin on his hand he raised an eyebrow to stare at you.

"For now, we will go back to class. You can get lost in thoughts afterwards, idiot."

You knew that he was right. A missing cat would be a stupid excuse to skip, even though you felt like it.

Waiting was hard. Moving on like nothing had happened turned out to be painful. Thinking about possible outcomes made you feel sick.

Tsukishima wanted to take all of that away from you, he just didn't know how. Obviously he was aware that caring words weren't his speciality, to say the least. Maybe he had even hurt you again by being so direct.

Once you stood up, he grabbed your bag to carry it for you. If his words weren't helpful, his actions had to be.

"And after school, we will take a walk in your neighborhood. Together. Chances are high that your cat will be in the area, waiting for you to find it."

Just like your hearts had found each other.

so,, since she cant remember her life as a human, i’ll keep it short !!! but i figured it’s worth mentioning

as a human, she had big aspirations. she was raised predominantly by her grandmother because her parents were always working

luella had always wanted to be a dancer, but she came from a lower middle class family and they couldn’t afford to put her in lessons. so, sometimes she would watch classes through the window

she studied hard in school and was at the top of her class, and despite never formally receiving lessons, all her years of observing classes made her a promising dancer

lu took a year off after high school to work and save money, and planned to audition for a prestigious ballet academy in europe because there were recruiters in her town

however, on the way to the audition, she died in a car accident along with her parents. a few months prior to this, her grandmother had died of old age

so, with the deaths of her and her family, it didn’t take long for her to be forgotten all together

( 𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑳 . )

as an angel, luella avoided living with humans at first. she did not want to get too attached, and she felt that living among them wouldn’t end well for her

however, even from a distance, she became attached to one human. it was a girl, a ballet dancer. it was then she made the decision to live among humans, and she decided to take up ballet to be closer to her

still, even living among humans, she managed to keep some distance. she was more reserved, and extremely observant. eventually though, the two became friends. she felt more protective over this one human above all others

this continued for a while, but the guilt of having a favorite began to linger in her thoughts. she made the decision to leave and continue watching her from afar instead

once lu left the human world, she started to feel a lot better about herself and could say she no longer had favorites. for a few years, this worked perfectly. except the ballet dancer she had once been so close to developed an illness and passed away from it

lu was riddled with regret. she wished she had stayed close to her for the remainder of her life instead of running away. the worst part was, she knew that human felt abandoned by her

it was the first time as an angel that she felt like a failure

for a while after the death of the dancer, luella couldn’t focus properly. she began spacing out a lot, making mistakes more frequently ( when prior to this, she was the perfect example of what an angel should be ). she could not move on and started to feel like she was not fit to be an angel

as this was negatively impacting her ability to carry out her responsibilities, she pressured by the other angels to either overcome her failures or lose her status as an angel

this ultimatum made her realize she wanted to remain an angel and that she would have to get her act together to do so. for a brief moment, she contemplated giving up her status, to be able to forget it all. but when it came down to it, she didn’t want to lose the memories of all those she had�� crossed paths with, especially the dancer, who at least was alive in her thoughts

it was not easy to return to being the perfect angel, but she worked hard to get back to that level

eventually, she felt ready to live among humans once more. she decided to move to lunehaven for a while, though she really wants to move to paris one day. in the meantime, she has continued pursuing ballet and works as an instructor for kids

she attempts to live a quiet life, not getting too close to anyone, but it does get lonely sometimes

( 𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑺𝑶𝑵𝑨𝑳𝑰𝑻𝒀. )

luella tends to be quite reserved. she rarely initiates conversations or hangouts, but is relieved when someone else does. she enjoys being social, she’s just skeptical about getting too close to others

she is a scorpio sun with a libra moon so take that as u will !!

she is extremely devoted to dance and being an angel ( despite everything that happened ), and also very devoted to the few that she is close to, however, she changes her mind a lot about other things. her mood tends to change a lot, but she does her best to keep this to herself

as you can expect of scorpio and libra placements, she can be quite an intense/obsessive lover BUT can also be flighty if something seems too serious or causes her to feel too much. yes, she is a walking paradox i do not want 2 live in her head !!!

she adores classical music, which can be expected of a ballet dancer. she wants to learn how to play violin one day

her taste is pretty .... refined, so she can be quite the snob sometimes

she enjoys going to the theatre and the opera and stuff like that, and mostly goes alone

she comes alive at nighttime tbh,, the quiet hours once everyone has gone to sleep is her favorite time of day. she lovessss stargazing and if you become her friend, she will force you to have picnics under the stars

confidant - someone who confides in her or someone she confides in, or they confide in each other. they don’t necessarily have to be the closest friends ever, but they get along, trust each other, and maybe they talk more in private

rivals - they don’t like each other for whatever reason, which we can plot. maybe it’s jealousy or their personalities just clash, but for whatever reason they do not get along. maybe they bring out a bad side to her that most people dont see

good influence - someone she can be a good influence on, someone she brings out the best in, maybe someone she rly cares about and wants to look after to make sure they’re ok !!

Voltron Rewrite Episode Two - Faith and Friendship

Episode Two

The Dark Voltron weaves around the last of the pitfalls of the Quantum Void. It pulls to a stop just outside the planet hidden at the center of the Void. Dark Voltron breaks back up into lions almost immediately.

“Here we are.” Lotor says.

“Getting readings from some kind of structure down on the planet’s surface.” Sendak says.

“We shall see now if your alternate had anything of value to provide us.” Zarkon replies.

“If my alter went to all this trouble, I’m fairly certain that it is valuable.” Lotro says, his voice holding the slightest bit of offense.

“-If we are preparing to land, shall I cloak us from detection, sire?” Honvera cuts in.

“I doubt the planet has any threats worth my concern, but if you must.” Zarkon says.

“Right away, my lord.” Honvera closes her eyes, and begins to gesture with her hands. Purple quintessence crackles along her fingers, as glyphs appear outside above each of the dark lions. The glyphs pass through each lion, crackling along their surface, before disappearing.

“That should suffice.” Honerva says.

“Begin approach.” Zarkon orders, taking the lead.

The lions fly down towards the planet’s surface. They fly through the atmosphere for a time, gliding above the surface.

“Sendak, where is this structure you spoke of?” Zarkon asks.

“It should be just ahead, my lord.”

Sure enough, a large metal dome becomes visible just moments later.

“How would you like to organize the intrusion?” Lotor asks. “Raimon and myself could go in and-”

“Lotor, Raimon and I will go inside, to see what this dome contains.” Zarkon says sharply. “Honvera and Sendak, you will stay here to provide support, in the unlikely event we require it.”

“Yes my lord.” All reply. Lotor’s comes a half a moment later than the others, and with a hint of annoyance.

The Black, Red and Blue lions touchdown on the surface, behind a nearby rock formation, and their Paladins exit. Zarkon takes the lead on the approach, with Lotor and Raimon creeping along just behind him. They reach the sheer metal face of the dome.

“There should be an access hatch not far from your location.” Sendak informs.

They find it shortly. Rather than try to breach it through vai subtler means, Zarkon opts to simply kick the door in. Lotor rolls his eyes as he follows Zarkon inside, with Raimon bringing up the rear.

“Communications cluster up ahead.” Sendak supplies. “Hold on, there are some-”

A pair of Galra drones round the corner down the hall. A blur of motion, Zarkon shoots forward and brings a clenched fist down one drone so hard it’s smashed into scrap against the floor. Before the other can even get it's weapon up, Zarkon throws out his other hand, that clutches his bayard, and a sword materializes in the middle of the drone’s chest. He pulls the wickedly curved purple blade out and the drone collapses.

“Try to improve the speed of your warnings in the future, Sendak.” Zarkon says, making it clear this is more than a suggestion.

“Y-yes sire. My apologies.” Sendak stammers.

Zarkon and the other two continue onward. Finding another door at the end of the hall, Zarkon kicks that one in too. The room inside has a line of consoles set up beneath a long display screen, showing the inside of the dome. Forests, fields and hills, at the center of which is a cluster buildings can be seen at a distance.

Lotor walks over to one of the consoles and sets to work. After a quick scan on some of the readings on the console’s smaller screen, he speaks:

“It seems that this place is some kind contained habitat for the species inside. That’s curious, no direct mention of the species by name…”

“Find me something useful boy.” Zarkon instructs.

Lotor continues to type, before looking back up at the large display. “Hold on, I’ll get us a close up visual on that town over there, maybe that will give us some answers.”

The display switches to close up view of a town, with dozens of humanoid figures moving about inside. Lotor zooms in closer, and as he does his eyes widen.

“Those look like-”

“Alteans.” Zarkon says, stepping forward looking interested for the first time since entering the building.

Raimon jerks his head up at the mention of the word, and now stares at the display.

“Living alteans. Dozens of them.” Lotor says, almost reverentially.

“Honerva are you getting this?” Zarkon asks.

“I am sire.” She sounds surprised herself.

“You can use these.” Zarkon says. It is more statement than question.

“Indeed I can.” She confirms.

“Good.” Zarkon smiles. “Very good. It seems you were right after all son.”

Lotor blinks, forcing himself to tear his eyes from the display. “Father, may...I have some time to figure out what my alternate was doing here?” Lotor asks carefully.

“You have one quintent. After that, we will begin the process of rebuilding our army. Starting with these alteans.”

Pidge stands next to her mother, Colleen Holt, looking bored. Collee, on the other hand, has a self satisfied look on her face. They stand inside a room with with a series of computer terminals giving readouts of data onto monitors. The back wall has a line of windows letting in streams of early-morning sunlight in.

Pidge sighs. She sighs again. On the third sigh, her mother speaks.

“Bored Katie?”

“Extremely.” Pidge says.

“I thought you loved computers.” her mother says, still smirking, without looking away from the monitor she’s reading from.

“I love hacking into alien networks and taking down their defenses one by one. I love making a communications relay from scrap metal and whatever im carrying in my pockets. I love dismantling a new piece of technology and toying with it until I figure out how it works. I do not like doing basic analysis for the base’s air conditioning.”

“Well tough luck kiddo. Maybe if you hadn’t run off to space, without telling your mother, I’d let you have fun with your father and brother. Besides, this is more than just the air conditioning. It also shows us the water usage.”

“I’m a Paladin of Voltron mom!” Pidge exclaimes. “I’m supposed to be out there helping to fight the Galra, not sitting around checking computer readouts!”

“Oh yeah? And here I thought all your other Voltron friends were taking time off to be with their families…?”

“Well technically…” She said, scratching the back of her neck “-but Hunk told me they’ve already started getting ready to rebuild the Castle of Lions, they’re gonna need someone to set up the computer net-”

“And if they ask for you, specifically.” Pidge’s mother interjected. “I’ll think about letting you go. If I think you’ve learned your lesson by then.”

“Matt gets to work on the cool stuff.” Pidge protests, halfheartedly.

“Matt got kidnapped by aliens on accident. He didn’t go looking for trouble. Besides, he’s spending time with your father, so I’m allowing it. In the meantime, I get some quality time, just me and my daughter.” Colleen pulled Pidge into a side-armed hug, while Pidge grumbles, but does not resist.

“We could at least do something more interesting...”

“What a great idea! I’m almost done here, why don’t we go check out my plants. I’ve become a bit of a gardener since they moved me onto base. I know how much you love the great outdoors and sunlight Katie.”

Pidge only groans.

“Alright here’s the plan.” Lance says. “I drop by Ryner and get some of those pretty alien flowers, get all dressed up in some nice clothes I’m borrowing from my brother, maybe shower for good measure, then a solid ten minutes of psyching myself up, before I finally go and ask Allura outh on a date.” Lance explains animatedly.

“Uh...huh. And...why are you telling me all of this?” Keith asks. The two of them are walking down a corridor within the Galaxy Garrison base.

“Hunk’s busy and Pidge is grounded.” Lance shrugs.

“I see…” Keith says, distractedly.

“What? No, ‘I don’t have time for this Lance,’ or ‘I’ve got to go brood instead of talk to people Lance?’”

“What?” Keith says, as if missing what Lance just said.

Lance eyes him oddly. “Yeah you’re definitely acting weird.”

Keith only sighs and rubs his eyes. “Sorry, just have a lot on my mind right now. What were you saying again? You wanna ask Allura out or something?”

“Yep.” Lance says confidently.

“And you brought this up because…” Keith strains, as if trying to figure it out. “...you’re worried it wont go well?”

“What? No! Have you seen me Keith? I’m irresistible…” Lance holds the confident look for another few moments, before relaxing his shoulders and twiddling his fingers nervously. “...well I mean...I guess I am a little worried.” He finally admits.

Keith gives a half chuckle.

“She never takes me seriously,” Lance goes on. “I...I just hope this goes well.”

“Well dunno how much I can help you there. I guess just...be honest about how you feel?” Keith says it as if not entirely sure.

“Honest huh? That’s good, I should write that down…”

Keith shakes his head. “Now if you’ll excuse me, ‘I’ve got to go brood instead of talk to people, Lance.’”

“Hey, there’s the Keith we all know!”

Lotor studies the Altean colony from the display screen, entranced by the images of men and women working, while the children play.

Honerva walks in, breaking him from his trance.

“Mother.” Lotor says, acknowledging her, before shifting his gaze back to the screen.

“What have you found, my son?” She asks.

“A great deal.” Lotor says. “From listening on their conversation, and scanning the deep archives of this place, I’ve begun to piece together a narrative. The Lotor of this universe scoured the stars to find the alteans that survived the destruction of their planet. Then, he gathered them all here into this colony, where they’ve thrived for millenia.” Lotor shakes his head and smiles slightly. “To think there were so many. I admit I’d thought of the same idea before but...he actually did it.”

Honerva says nothing, scanning the screen a moment, dispassionately.

“Not excited to see your own people again?” Lotor asks.

“Most of my kind were always too short sighted. More concerned with a sense of ‘morality’ than they were with actual progress. There’s a reason I married a galra. In the end, they didn’t receive anything they did not earn.”

“Hm.” Lotor says, noncommittally. “Guess he feels differently.” Lotor nods to the side of the room. There, in the shadows, Raimon leans against the wall, staring at the screen. Honerva’s eyes narrow.

“How long has he been doing that?”

“Since we got here.”

“Raimon.” She says.

The maroon armored man doesn’t respond.

“Raimon.” She says a little more firmly.

The man finally tears his eyes away from the screen to face Honerva.

“Yes ma’am?” He asks in a gruff voice..

“Go to Sendak and see if he needs assistance.”

The maroon paladin nods slightly and heads towards the door. It is not lost on Honerva or Lotor how he shoots the alteans one last, lingering look, before exiting the room.

Honerva turns back to Lotor. “Did you find anything else out?”

“Apparently my alter also started moving some of the alteans offsite, to this planet’s moon for other research, though I haven’t been able to look into that as of yet. Oh, and one other thing. They...well it seems that as a result of my alter’s actions, I’m held in a certain position of...reverence to these people. Their chosen savior, if you will.”

Honerva’s eyes flicker to the statue of Lotor on the display. “I’d never have guessed…”

“So the only surviving alteans in this universe all worship my son. It would be humorous, were it not so pitiful.” Zarkon says, from behind.

Both turn to see him stalk into the room.

“Pitiful or not, it's is useful. I’m quite certain they’ll do anything I say.” Lotor points out.

“Ruling through fear is better than through faith. Fear can be trusted. Faith can fail, but people never forget what they fear.” Zarkon says dismissively.

“Their faith will make them work harder. People always work harder for something they believe in, than they will for fear of punishment.” Lotor shoots back.

Zarkon’s eyes narrow. “Your experience in leadership are limited boy, and colored by your own weakness. Rule comes through power.”

Lotor meets his stare, and both gaze at each other. Honerva’s eyes flicker between the two of them.

“Perhaps...you could allow him to try.” Honerva suggests.

“To what end?” Zarkon asks, not breaking his stare.

“Lotor simply wants to please you by getting command of these people, just in his own way. It would do no harm to let him try. If it fails...it is never too late to instill fear.”

The father and son continue to stare each other down. Finally, Lotor drops his gaze, shoulders slumping. “...it is as mother says. I only wish to serve, the best way I know.”

Zarkon scoffs. “Very well, you may try this experiment. But, should it fail, it will also fall to you to be the one to crush them back into the dirt. Be ready to bloody your sword. Part of rule is knowing when to get your hands dirty.”

“...yes father.” Lotor says, looking back at the viewport, brow now creased with concern.

Zarkon turns away. “Make contact by end of day. I want those new weapons ready soon, for the coming war.”

“Just...what sort of weapons are these to be? The alteans are not trained soldiers, by any measure.”

Zarkon leaves without explanation. Lotor turns the quizzical look on Honerva. The woman smiles slightly.

“Alteans. There are a few things we are good for…”

Pidge and her mother stood in front of a wide garden stretching down a portion of the length of one of the Garrison base’s outside walls.

“How long did you say you’d been growing this?” Pidge says noting just how far the garden goes.

“Oh just a few months. Kind of lose track of time here on the base.” Pidge’s mother hands her a trowel. “Now come on, some weeds got in and I want this place clear by lunchtime.”

Pidge shrugs, and takes the trowel. Together, they get to work, carefully uprooting the bad while leaving the good undisturbed.

“...so tell me about these friends of yours.” Pidge’s mom asks with a raised eyebrow.

“Where’s this coming from?” Pidge says, suspicious.

“What? I’m not allowed to wonder what the people my daughter’s been spending all her time with are like?”

Pidge sighes. She's silent for several moments, as she gathers her thoughts.

“...I guess you knew Shiro a bit before. He’s really been taking care of us through most of this. Keeps us focused, and makes sure we stay together as a team. He was a great leader, and always tried to help me look for Dad and Matt when he could.”

“Sounds like him.” Colleen notes.

Pidge nods. “Keith is...I dunno, kinda emo? He’s always running off to do things himself. He’s gotten better...I think. He’s doing his best being the new leader, I just don’t know how cut out for it he is.” She shrugs. “Allura’s a princess...from space.”

Colleen gives Pidge and odd look, but she continues anyway. “She’s tougher than she looks. All about duty and trying to figure out she can help us beat the Galra. Been kind distant lately, though, dunno what that’s about.”

“What about those other two boys? The ones you went to the Garrison with?”

“Lance and Hunk?” Pidge thinks again for a moment.

“Hunk is a big softie. But he also keeps everything in perspective. Reminds us there's more to life than just a big space war.”

She hesitates before going on.

“Lance...is kind of an idiot.”

“Oh?” Colleen says.

“Yeah, he’s constantly misunderstanding basic science principles he should’ve learned in the Garrison, cracking jokes at really bad times, and if he’s not doing either of those he’s flirting with some girl he just met.”

“And he’s...your friend?”

Pidge chews on her lip. “...he’s also caring, brave, and works a lot harder than he lets on. If you’re feeling down you can always rely on him to be there with a wisecrack, or hand of support.”

“Sounds like a reliable guy.”

“He is.” Pidge examines the leaves of a flower.

Colleen looks like she’s about to say something when she is cut off.

“-I think these are overwatered.” Pidge says. “See the yellowing on the leaves here? You’ll probably want to cut down on the water for theses guys in the future.”

Colleen blinks in surprise. “Katie...since when do you know anything about plants?”

Pidge shrugs. “Ryner. From the coalition. Helped show me how connected everything is. Guess I just see things a little differently now. How it's all made of the same stuff in the end. There's a...beauty to it.” Pidge looks embarrassed by her own words.

“You really have changed.” Colleen says, wide eyed.

“That good?”

“I think so.” Her mother smiles. “It's nice to hear about all your friends. Before, you didn’t like hanging out with anyone that wasn’t Matt or your computer. I’m glad you’re connecting more.”

Pidge doesn’t say anything but she smiles too.

Hunk works on a large piece of machinery, on the table in front of him, dismantling it one piece at a time. He works inside a large warehouse, full of similarly busy Garrison and Coalition members. Lance saunters up and glances over Hunk’s shoulder.

“Hey there, whatcha working on buddy?”

“Just some stuff for the new castle.” Hunk shrugs

“What kind of stuff?”

“Eh, just engineer stuff. You probably wouldn’t be that interested.”

“Hey, don’t forget I was in the Garrison too, I know all kinds of stuff about spaceships and all that.”

“Alright. We’re trying to figure out if the power capacitors inside these earth star engines with be enough to handle the increased load from the new castle, because if not then we’ll either have to use the coalition’s limited resources, or basically start from scratch to...okay where’d I lose you?”

Lance blinks several times. “Uh...capacitors?”

There is a silence between the two for several seconds. “So…” Hunk says.

“Yeah okay, forget the engineering stuff, I don’t understand anything, what else is new? Have you seen Ryner?”

“A while ago. She left those flowers you asked for on a table over there.” Hunk points a thumb over one shoulder.

“Great!”

Lance walks off while Hunk continues to work. There the clanging of metal objects moving around. Then there's a crashing noise, followed by muttered curses. Hunk winces at the sound. Lance walks back up, with a bouquet of alien flowers.

“Found ‘em.” Lance smiles.

“So, you’re really gonna ask our Allura, huh?”

“Sure am!” Lance says.

“Huh. Good luck.”

“Thanks, but don’t need it.”

“What are you gonna do if she says no?”

“You don’t...think that’s likely do you?” Lance swallows.

“Dunno man. I mean, she is a princess…”

Lance looks nervous. Hunk seems to notice, and quickly stammers to correct himself. “-but I’m sure she’ll take you up, I mean why wouldn’t she? Heh…” He laughs nervously.

“Yeah, whatever. I’m gonna finish getting ready.” Lance walks away, significantly less enthusiastic than he walked in. Hunk sighes, then shrugs his shoulders and returns to work.

Pidge and her mother walk into the hangar. Pidge is noticeably excited.

“Now you’ve been good so far, so I’ll let you have this much. You can look around and say hi, but no working on anything.” Colleen explains.

“I know mom.” Pidge replies, looking around at all the pieces of machinery the engineers and scientists are working on. Her eyes widen at once item a Coalition alien works on.

“Is that a Colaxium helix battery? I’ve only read about those…” A gasp as she turns to another table. “A Rethid power conductor!? I thought they stopped producing those.” Another gasp at a glance to another table. “Woah a M’vran antigrav inducer! That’ll be perfect for generating lift. And that over there is...oh just a regular old Garrison engine.” Pidge looks slightly disappointed.

“Losing your respect for the classics Pidge?” Hunk asks, looking up from his work.

“Oh hey Hunk.” she says, noticing him for the first time.

“Pidge, Mrs. Holt.” Hunk says, nodding to each woman.

“Checking out the old capacitors to see if they can meet the new load?” Pidge asks.

“Sure am.” Hunk confirms.

Pidge leans over to get a closer look and reaches a hand towards the engine. Colleen catches her hand before it makes contact. Pidge looks up to see her mother smile and clear her throat. Pidge sighs and pulls her hand back.

“Still grounded huh?” Hunk says.

“Yeah…” Pidge sighs.

“The way mom’s dragging her around, Katie’s gonna be attached at the hip by the time her hair turns grey.” Says a new voice. All turn to see Matt along with Sam Holt and Shiro walking up.

Pidge narrows her eyes and smiles thinly. “Just wait ‘til I get free Matt, I’m gonna show these guys what a real science officer looks like.”

“You’re a few years too early for that.” Matt says confidently.

While the two siblings continue their stare down, Sam and Shiro move over to meet Colleen.

“How’s our little girl doing?” Sam asks.

“Stubborn as always.” Colleen smiles. “Shirogane, it's been a while.” She offers a hand.

“Too long, Colleen.” Shiro says, shaking her hand.

“I hear you’ve been taking care of Pidge, and the others.”

“I did my best, but they’re practically grown now.”

“Not just yet, they aren’t” Colleen says shooting her daughter a glance. “Sam, Matt, I know you’re both working hard, but I hope I’ll be seeing you both for dinner.” She says it in such a manner that it seems more like an order than a request.

“Yes ma’am.” Sam and Matt say in unison, giving mock salutesµµ

“How about you Shiro, can I twist your arm into coming?”

“Afraid not.” Shiro sighs. “I’ll be tied up in negotiations with the Garrison.”

“Ol’ Sanda’s being a piece of work as usual.” Matt pipes in.

“Matt…” Shiro says warningly.

Matt waves his hand dismissively. Pidge chuckles, as Shiro shooks her brother with a disapproving look.

“How about you Hunk?”

“Sorry Mrs.Holt but my own family’s promised they’d cook a feast every night for a week after coming back home.”

“Well I guess I can’t fault you for wanting to go with that...” Colleen chuckles.

Pidge and her mother walk down a corridor inside the base sometime later. Pidge displays little of the boredom and discontentment from earlier, instead replaced with a slight smile on her face, and a skip in her step.

“Having fun yet?” Colleen asks.

“Day’s improving. Still would have liked to be touch some of that tech though…” Pidge replies with a raised eyebrow.

“Maybe tomorrow. Maybe.” Colleen emphasises the last work to make clear that it is no promise.

Pidge shrugs in apparent surrender.

“It was nice to meet your friend Hunk, but where are all these other friends I hear about?” Her mother asks next.

“I’m sure they’re around...oh speak of the devil.”

Pidge says this just as Lance slides around a corner, dressed in a suit jacket, button down shirt and slacks. He carries the alien flowers in one hand, and looks to be in a hurry. However, he skids to a stop upon seeing Pidge and her mother.

“Pidge!? What’s going on? Thought you were still grounded.” Lance says with confusion.

“Am. Sorta. Mom’s got a tight leash on me.” Pidge sighs, and gives a shrug.

Lance’s eyes shifted to the older woman with curiosity.

“Mom, this is Lance. Lance, my mom.” Pidge explains, gesturing back and forth.

“Nice to meet ya Missus Holt!” Lance says shaking Colleens hand.

“So this is the boy I heard all about.” Colleen replies.

“Huh?” Lance looks back at Pidge. “You bad mouthing me to you mom already?”

“Something like that.” Pidge says with a wry grin.

Lance returns the grin. “Oh, well in that case, Mrs. Holt I’m sure there are a few stories you’d love to hear about Pidge from out in space. Did you know that for a while we didn’t even know she was a g-”

Pidge cuts him off with an elbow to the ribs.

“Ow!”

“Forgive Lance, mom.” Pidge says, adjusting her glasses. “He’s had a lot of head trauma out fighting in space. His memory isn’t what it used to be.”

Lance rolls his eyes, while Colleen only chuckles.

“So Lance, what are you all dressed up for?” Colleen asks.

Lance smiles again, and stands up straighter. “Well as it so happens I am on my way to go ask Princess Allura out on a date.”

“Really…” Colleen’s eyes flicker to Pidge. Her expression is unreadable.

“Yeah, I don’t been to brag but I’m pretty popular with the ladies...kinda got turned around looking for her, though.” Lance goes on. “Heard she was on the left quadrant with Coran, so I’m headed over now...” Lance’s voice trails off as he notices how quiet Pidge has become.

“Hey you doing alright Pidge? Usually you’re hitting me with some robot or something when I talk about chasing after some girl for this long. She’s mean like that.” Lance says the last to Pidge’s mom.

Pidge, for her part, reaches up, and flicks Lance on the nose.

“Ow!”

“There. Happy?” Pidge sighs and turns to her mother. “We should head back to the apartment. Wouldn’t wanna get in the way of Lance’s big date.”

“Hang on a second, there is something up with you.” Lance accuses.

“Goodbye Lance.” Pidge says, already walking past, waving behind her.

“It was nice meeting you.” Colleen says, hurring off to join Pidge.

Lance looks back at the two retreating women, with a concerned look. They disappear around a corner in moments. Lance is left alone in the hallway. He turns back around, but hesitates. He looks down at the flowers in his hands. Then, he looks back one more time, and sighs.

He starts to run. He turns inside the door Pidge and Colleen just came from. He dashes out into the hangar. In moments he finds Hunk, who is cleaning his hands off with a rag.

“Hunk are you busy?” Lance says quickly.

“Just finished up, why?”

“I need a favor, asap…”

“Are you ready, son?” Honerva asks.

“When am I ever not?” Lotor replies.

The two of them sit inside a shuttle transport. The ship lands with a thump. Lotor takes a breath, and stands up.

“Stay in the ship, if you would, I don’t want them getting spooked.”

“Very well.”

Lotor nods, perhaps more to himself than his mother. He walks over to the door, and clicks a button along the side. The door unseals with a hiss, and a ramp opens up, extending down to the ground below. Lotor takes a step outside.

He is met with the sight of hundreds of alteans gathered in a circle a short distance from the ship. There is a clamor of hushed conversation. All stare at Lotor. One red-haired woman among them steps forward.

“L-Lord...Lotor?” She says in an uneasy voice.

Lotor smiles. “Yes, it's is I, Lotor! Your savior has returned!”

There is an excited clamor among the alteans. He allows it to go on for a moment, before raising both hands, and gesturing for them to quite. He takes a breath before speaking further.

“...I have returned from a long journey. Out in the bounds of space, I fought many battles, and experienced both victories and failures. I come to you now, with a new sense of purpose. Because, my dear alteans, I now have the legendary Voltron on my side!”

This causes a full on cheer to erupt from the people, but again, Lotor motions for quiet.

“But, my enemies have grown strong as well. They possess their own, twisted imitation of voltron. Much of the universe has fallen to their control. I cannot defeat this foe alone...”

There is a hushed murmur in the crowd. Lotor allows it, building anticipation for his next words.

“...my people, you have hid here for so many years. Well the time has come for that to end! The time has come for alteans to stand proudly once again, and help guide this universe to what it should be. I now call upon every man woman and child altean here in this colony! I ask you to help me take up arms against the forced of this false Voltron!”

There is silence for a short moment. Then the crowd explodes into cheers. Lotor relaxes. He turns to the girl in front of him.

“You there. Are you in charge of these people?”

“Y...yes? Lord Lotor have you forgotten me?”

Lotor sighs, and rests a hand on his forehead. “Forgive me. Battles with my enemies have left me with many scars. Not all of them are physical. Certain memories have become distant to me. Please remind me, I’m sure it will come back in time.”

“Of course, my lord.” She says bowing her head. “I am called Luca.”

“Luca. I will be entrusting you to prepare our people for the coming storm.”

“Thank you for this honor, Lord Lotor.” She bows further. “I will do my utmost to get them ready...but how exactly are we all to contribute?”

Lotor glances up to the sky briefly. “I will have more information shortly…until then, be ready for anything.”

“Yes, lord Lotor.”

Lotor nods and turns back around, to return to the ship.

“I think that went well.” Honvera says.

“Undeniably. It is as I expected.” Lotor allows himself a grin. “They’ll do anything I ask…”

Pidge lies on a sofa, staring at the ceiling. She is inside an apartment with her mother. The sofa Pidge lies on is in the living room, while the connected kitchen is where Colleen has begun to prepare a meal.

“So, was following me around today the worst thing ever?” Colleen asks.

“No...I had fun.” Pidge admits sitting up. “It's not that I didn’t want to spend time with you, I’m just excited to get to work with Dad and Matt. Imagine what the three of us can do together.”

“Well sometimes it's important to put the science aside for a bit, to remember the simpler things in life. Like watering the plants, or cooking a meal. Speaking of which, you could be helping over here.”

“I wasn’t in space that long mom, did you really forget what a disaster I am in the kitchen?”

“Point taken. But even so, it might be something you want to figure out sooner or later. Who knows? You might want to cook for your husband someday.”

“Mom!” Pidge jerks upright.

“Look I want grandchildren, and Matt’s dating an alien or robot or something, can’t really tell which. Either way I don’t think the genetics of that work out, so you’ll have to-”

“MOM!” Pidge shouts, red in the cheeks.

Her mother only chuckles. “That tall one seemed nice, what was his name again?’

Pidge lays back down, with a frown.

“Who Lance? He’s just an idiot.”

“I thought you said he was reliable, despite that.” Her mother replies.

“Forget that. He’s just an idiot.” Pidge says stubbornly.

Her mother sighs but nods. “Sometimes men are like that. When they are, you just gotta knock them on the head and make them see reason.”

Pidge shrugs noncommittally. “Not really sure what you’re talking about.”

“Sure you don’t.” Colleen rolls her eyes.

Neither says anything, and for a moment the apartment is silent. Pidge closes her eyes, as if to sleep. There is a knock at the door. She sighs, and sits back up. Her mother shoots her a confused look. Pidge shrugs.

“I’ll get it.” Pidge hops off the couch and walks over to the door.

Pidge opens to door and gapes at the person standing here.

“Lance!?” She exclaimes, blinking as if she wasn’t seeing right. Colleen leans out from the kitchen with an interested look.

“Betcha think you wouldn’t see me again today.” Lance says, flashing a grin. He holds a plastic bin in his hands.

“What are you even doing here?” Pidge asks, shaking away her shock. “I thought you were-”

“Off asking out Allura?” Lance sighes. “Fully planned on it, but then I noticed how down my good friend seemed after I last saw her. Thought maybe being grounded after seeing everyone else was running around doing stuff was bringing her down.”

Pidge crosses her arms and shrugs. “Lots of assuming you’re doing there. And I’m not in a bad mood, I’m doing just f-”

Lance pops open the plastic bin.

“-are those peanut butter cookies!?” Pidge goes wide-eyed and her mouth begins to water.

Lance chuckles. “Not my style to leave a friend in need Pidge, whether you’re about to admit it or not.

Pidge stares at him for a long moment. “...you gave up on your date because you thought I wasn’t doing well?”

“Allura’s not going anywhere. I gotta look after my friends.” He shrugs. “You still got that game we bought in the space mall?”

Pidge looks down and smiles slightly. When she looks back up the smile is more coy than anything else. She reaches up and hits Lance on the arm.

“Hey what’s that for?” Lance asks, not really seeming to be hurt by the blow.

“Nothing.” Pidge grins. “And yeah, course I still got Killbot Phantasm! I can have that baby hooked up to the TV in-”

Pidge’s mother clears her throat. She has a vaguely stern expression that is undercut by a thinly veiled smile.

“I do hate to rain on the parade, but Katie is still grounded.”

“Oh come on mom!” Pidge says clasping her hands, and going all puppy dog eyed.

“Yeah Missus Holt!” Lance says right behind Pidge, mirroring the girl’s expression.

Colleen manages to keep up the facade for another few moments, before sighing. “Fine, but you’re staying for dinner Lance.”

“Alright!” he cheers.

“And let me have one of those cookies. Katie’s not the only one that’s weak to them.”

As Colleen takes her cookie, Pidge and Lance scrambled to set up the video game console. Just minutes later they are on the couch intensely focused on the screen, while the TV emits sounds of of explosions and other video game noises.

“Get this guy Lance, he’s weak to fire!” Pidge says, cramming a cookie into her mouth.

“Dang how do you attack with this glove? Who thought this was a good idea for a controller!?”

“Hey don’t diss the power glove, that thing’s limited edition!”

Colleen shakes her head, smiles, and turns away as the two continue to play their game.

and thank fuck im doing a lot better than when i started. that one mentor has to try rlly hard now to find ways fr me to improve my lesson. still im lookin forward to ending this tmrw though.... just idk man like this week ive been doing way better yet still she likes to point out that the first week i “looked like a beaten dog” (one of the many dutch idioms she likes to use on me. did i mention im kinda ehh abt people who use sayings rather than just. saying what they fukn mean) and im still not feeling super at ease with her bc she just. idk the whole contact with her is just too similar with my sister situation and im relieved i can put it behind me soon. im glad that in the meantime ive had good contact with my own school and know they’ve got my back though. they even said i shouldn’t care too much abt what that mentor says bc if they can see me make progress even if i’m forced to teach my lessons the way shes more or less forcing me to do (aka the way we’re taught.... it shouldnt really be done) then they can 100% put aside her comments and opinions. if it’s more petty shit like “when the bell rang you seemed startled” then what does it matter either way. my school knows im a good student and a good person and i really am trying my best so. i’m hoping that’ll be enough. i mean just today i got a comment like “bring yr vocabulary down a level because i know you’re feeling like you need to impress me” and i was smiling and hmm-ing bc it IS important not to use complicated words when yr dealing with first yr english students and it’s still kind of difficult to figure out when they could use a synonym or translation but i was thinking also like lady..........ive accepted the fact that you think im fuckn dirt yall if you think i care even a single frick about impressing you then lemme tell ya

i know i should take whatever she says with a grain of salt but low key.....im just getting salty im feeling ready to just move on from this entire hassle. thank fuck my kids were hilarious today and made my lesson a joy to teach because honest to god the stuff ive been through, i feel like ive doubled in age these past few weeks

good evening fellow redditers!tks in advance for reading the following tale and for any advice you may have! buckle up, its a long one (although hopefully our collective wisdom can come up with a few lesson to help others).---So, 2.5years ago i joined a startup active in the autonomous robotics field, focused in increasing efficiency in renewable energy maintenance and ops. Clearly, a very specific niche, completely b2b and whose clients are ultimately rather large organizations - but in a very "exciting" and "upcoming" tech space blending hardware/software, iot, etc...The company actually began 4 years ago by a friend of mine who was solo founder, but backed by a public-private investment firm that only funds renewable-related startups - (apparently this made valuation go from 0 to 1M kind of "magically", before any prototype or really, any actual product work was started. clap-clap?).As the entrepeneur in this case had a science background (i myself am a business major and have worked in different countries, for organizations of different sizes, and had my own business in the past) we actually spoke at length during the process he went through setting up the business, getting his first coupe engineers, and actually having an MVP. When he needed to create a board of directors, he asked me to join, as his "delegated" director (4 members, founder has casting vote).At that moment, the company started getting its first enquiries from potential clients, and since they could finally afford paying a salary, i was invited to "officially" join the pre-client, pre-revenue startup as their "COO" (LOL, i know! :D wtf does that mean anyway!?).The actual job was to ensure all the daily operations of the business run smoothly. This meant creating and maintaining systems from acc/fin to HR admin/hiring to marketing to ops, and I even helped in the tech/IT admin side as I find that calming! :) I thought "hell, why not? these guys may actually be on to something but they clearly dont know a lot abt running a business, and i know i can help" - so i said yes, even though pay was shit (literally minimum wage!!!) and NO EQUITY WAS OFFERED AT THE TIME (the usual "lets talk about it latter" scenario... i think you may know where this is going now! :D)After i joined the company (sept 2016), we won a few awards and grants, from applications/submissions i wrote (and stellar pitches given by the founder/ceo!!), got our first client (i went to a different continent to deliver the 20k usd kit to equip the client's robots and link up to our software, then did it again last xmas when his operation doubled in size) and hired a few more engineers. Tech wise, we're still using 2 year old version in "production" - suffice to say shit runs on ubuntu 14!!! theres only 3 engineers fulltime, all above average, but only 1 (!!!) is actually a computer scientist, the other are engineers who code... but the product does work, we've served over 1000 "units" of it, and feedback from industry has been pretty great (although its clearly still seen as a "nice to have" and not a "must have" kind of solution)Fast forward to 2019 and the company is kind of stuttering even though we had our best year last year in revenue (100k,,, :/) and have actually signed up two new clients in Q1 - but the industry is moving fast, our CEO spent most of last year depressing about a failed fundraising round, then on a "startup accelerator" program abroad to "recover his mojo",,, and finally the competition has MUUUUCH deeper pockets (couple of companies,, have raised dozens of millions from vc and work with some of the same enterprise clients we have). Basically he spends most of his time selling, as he should, but unfortunately most of it is spent selling chunks of his company, rather than his companies products/services. In the meantime, I've actually been crazy busy building his business, haven't taken a proper holiday since I joined (literally, 4 days off in 2.5 years!!) and never felt this close to burnout (but im a horse,,, and can handle it "well"-ish. just gimme my caffeine!)"Fortunately", there finally seems to be a new investor in the picture, and a binding TS has been signed for a 1M round at aprox 4M valuation. (YAY??). Now here's where the fun stars,, right? Well, in truth, the 4x members of the core team, myself included (but excluding the CEO and current 66% (!!) owner) have been feeling increasingly uneasy with the "overworked and underpaid, but too busy to talk about equity" routine and have started to care less and less - at least, i see clear signs of this in the team. I've brought it up with the CEO and he seems to think that its "my opinion" and that "the team is fine"... so, after much talking and little doing over the years (everyone is always "so busy",,,,) CEO finally found sometime to prepare a 7 slide presentation that concluded with a table that was borderline funny, if it wasn't so tragic!!He listed our 4 names in the columns (myself, and the 3 engineers, which he now deems the "core employees", and the rows were: "percentage of my equity", "money value of that equity" and "cash bonus". The percentages was around 4% each,, then he had the nerve of multiplying that by the valuation of the upcoming round (!!!) and presenting us a dollar value in the hundreds of thousands... the cash bonus row on the other hand read "8 thousand". The "cherry" on the cake? 50% of the shares on offer were actual shares, from his stash... the other 50% were actually to come out from a "to-be-created-eventually" esop, WITH TWO YEAR VESTING!! :D:D:D:D:D:DNaturally, I left that meeting and went on a two-week "vacation" immediately.Which brings us to the present day. I came back from holidays, all is "business as usual" he keeps saying that "end of next month" the deal should close (and paperwork signed,, making us 4 "official shareholders", and "getting a Mill in the bank", while "maintaining control" (barely,, like 50.01% counting with us 4). We are about to start another season of field operations, meaning ill be out of the office most of the time actually "bringing home the bacon", while him and the engineers keep "daydreaming" next-version-features back in the office.Ok, now, all bitterness aside (hard, yes, but i think I can do it), i actually think this is mostly just the work of an unseasoned and naive entrepreneur, who CLEARLY, has never done, nor thought abt any of this before (before going on holiday, i told him to read "hard thing about hard things", which he actually did for once - first business book he has completed in years!!! likes to say hes a "slow reader"!!!) - and NOT the work of some evil genius visionary. The team is almost as "oblivious", none of the engineers ever heard or really understood what an esop even is!! (ye, have i mentioned we're a loooooooooong way from silicon valley here?)Which brings me to my options:A) "fuckit!" you know how Jared from Silicon Valley always has his resignation letter ready to hand in!?! :D well, I've been carrying one in my pocket for the two weeks I've been back. Just need to date and sign it and done! but there goes the 1%, give or take, of common stock i'd end up owning after this round. Then go start/join new projects in completely different industries, etc.. (is the ICO craze still going on!?!?! :D)B) "take a job with the competition" Im pretty sure I can walk into a job with one the leading competitors, at the middle-management level. funny thing is that job would pay me around 5x what i take home today as "COO" :D However, that would get me back to working for "the man", which is exactly what I thought I was "escaping" from when I joined this startup! :PC) "show him how its done!" Not being one that likes to admit defeat, I thought if there are any "checkmate" moves available to me. Here's what I came up with.. (warning: the following is VERY Machiavellian! :D) Remember how I said the whole team is pretty inexperience? well, turns out neither the company name, nor the main brand that the company uses was ever registered neither in the US, nor in the EU, only in home country. I can incorporate a delaware company using the name of his company (but that name is then "taken" for business, as a japanese company owns that trademark), then register the trademark of his company's product name (which is available also for incorporation), then buy a bunch of related domains and URLs - perhaps even file a utility patent, just for that "patent pending" stamp :P. Then I could either turn around to his company's competition and offer this corporation (effectively blocking his entry into US market without a major rebranding/marketing/legal costs) or offer it back to his company - for the 10% total ownership he should have offered me in the first place!! (im cheap, i know! ;)D) ... you tell me... how do i keep my dignity, not to mention my motivation, to stick with this prototype of a company when clearly, the owner is looking for employees and staff,,, not co-owners and partners?et pour la piece du resistance*,*the CEO and I are high school friends, have been in each others lives for decades, and very much enjoy each other's company outside the professional setting. I actually "miss" just hanging out, as you can imagine this whole mess has put quite the strain of the friendship. There's a saying in a funny language,, that translates to smtg like "you can lose the friend, but you can't miss the joke". Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa won’t tell us who he finds when he gets there, but “he is headed into the Canadian wilderness, for sure.” He won’t be seeing his dad Fred in the flesh anytime soon, though: It wasn’t shown on-screen, but the EP confirms that Fred did make it back into Riverdale before the quarantine came down.

Question: Any Million Little Things scoop? My friends and I are obsessed with it and hope it’s back for another season. —Montreal4 Ausiello: Remember how showrunner DJ Nash said that everyone in the group of friends has a secret they’ve kept? Look for Regina’s to come to light in Episode 14.

Question: Any scoop on what to expect when Grey’s Anatomy returns? —Al Ausiello: I will have a special holiday treat for you this coming Monday, so sit tight. In the meantime, I tried to get showrunner Krista Vernoff to share even the tiniest bit of intel about Jennifer Grey’s mysterious character and… I struck out. “I can’t [say anything],” she responded. “Because it would really ruin a twist and turn that I don’t want to ruin.” Hmm… I’m sticking with my initial prediction: She’s Jo’s mom.

Question: Anything on The Good Place? (Janet, specifically.) —Whitney Ausiello: Everyone’s favorite not-a-robot will be forever changed by having the humans materialize in Janet form, creator Michael Schur teases: “The way to really have empathy for people is to walk a mile in their shoes, and she did, like, the inverse of that. A bunch of people walked in her weird body for a decent amount of time… so that is another contributing factor to her evolution.” He adds that the season finale “has some pretty wonderful ‘compare this version of Janet to the one you saw in the pilot’ kinds of scenes.” So enjoy, Janet fans!

Question: I’m glad Dorian finally confronted Kaleb about his feeding problem on this week’s Legacies. Can I stop worrying about MG now? —Susan Ausiello: I don’t think it’s ever safe to stop worrying about MG, but as far as Kaleb goes, it sounds like Dorian’s pep talk was just the beginning. “Kaleb has a lot of really big ideas, and a lot of opinions about how things should work,” series creator Julie Plec says. “Much like in the real world when a hot-headed teenager thinks he can second guess what makes the rules the rules, he’s going to have a rude awakening pretty soon where he realizes he doesn’t know as much as he thinks he knows.”

Question: The ending of New Amsterdam‘s fall finale makes me think that Max’s cancer is progressing quicker than first assessed. Will this affect the clinical trial Dr. Sharpe has gotten him into? —Malasha Ausiello: We brought your query to showrunner David Schulner, and he said: “While we can’t reveal here what happened to Max on that dock, we will in our first episode back January 8. But, you’re right to ask if this will affect Max’s clinical trial. It most definitely will. This setback will change a lot of things in Max’s life. And Dr. Sharpe’s too. Thanks for watching and caring and writing to TVLine about the show.”

Question: Will The Flash give us any more hints about what Nora seems to be hiding? —SSH Ausiello: Now that we know there is some sort of alliance with Eobard Thawne, you should expect “a flash-forward flashback episode” that explains “how all that came to be, which will be a lot of fun,” says showrunner Todd Helbing. “You’ll slowly start to get the pieces of info that you need, but there will probably be one episode where we explain how that all happened to get her to come back [in time].”

Question: Challenge: Make me look forward to the Schitt’s Creek holiday episode more than I am already. — Belinda Ausiello: TVLine’s resident Schitthead Charlie Mason promises me that, no matter how great your expectations are, you won’t be disappointed — the special totally “sleighs.” What’s more, he issues a warning that the episode reveals a potential stumbling block to Alexis and Ted’s rekindled romance that neither she nor we anticipated.

Question: I need to know two things about Timeless: First, will #lyatt have a baby? Two, is Jessica really pregnant with Wyatt’s baby? —Miwako Ausiello: In response to your second question, star Matt Lanter says, “We address that [in the series finale, airing Dec. 20]. We’ll find out.” As for Wyatt, he’s not suspicious of Jessica and her baby news. “We’ve seen Wyatt be blinded by love throughout the last two seasons, though, and this is nothing new for him,” Lanter says. “Inherently, he’s a good person with a good heart, and I think he has a hard time accepting that people he loves or cares about … wouldn’t be good. So I think it’s easier as an audience member to look at Jessica and go, ‘Yeah, she’s lying.’ But I think Wyatt is just more blind to things.”

Question: How many time periods will we see in the Timeless finale? —Amanda Ausiello: “There are two-plus time periods, I will say that, that we have not visited before,” showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman shares, adding that the historical time trips highlight “ethnic representations that we have not seen before [on the show]. Both of these stories are things that [are about] lesser known historical figures. You get to meet some new people that you’ve probably never heard of.”

Question: I’d love a Resident scoop on Conrad/Nic. —Holly Ausiello: I hope you enjoyed the couple’s honeymoon phase while it lasted, because the back half of Season 2 will be “nothing but obstacles” for the pair, according to executive producer Todd Harthan. “In just about every episode, there’s a new one for them to overcome… and they just start stacking up,” Harthan says, adding that the couple will be especially preoccupied with the health of Conrad’s father and Nic’s sister. “It’s going to be a ‘hold on and hope that they make it’ kind of ride,” he teases.

Question: Any hints on how to solve the Blindspot episode title puzzle for Season 4? —Hannah Ausiello: “Oh man! We finally built a title puzzle this season that is legit very hard to crack,” showrunner Martin Gero answers. “I will say this: The puzzle is an homage to some our favorite TV series and how they title the shows. Figure out which, and you might be a step closer.”

Question: Creek’s death on Midnight, Texas was so awful. Please promise me no one dies in tonight’s episode! —Rina Ausiello: I cannot make that promise. But I can tell you that Mr. Snuggly makes it through OK. So that’s something… right?

Question: Got any red-hot Chicago Fire scoopage, Aus? —Gene Ausiello: I see what you did there and I’m… very amused. Well done. The NBC drama is planning some girls-only bonding time for Sylvie, Stella and Emily. “They’re going to go on a road trip to [Sylvie] Brett’s hometown,” showrunner Derek Haas previews. The episode will air the week of Valentine’s Day, “so we’re calling it the Galentine’s trip.” Before that, though, the show will explore Emily’s “attitudes towards dating, which are different than Brett’s, and I don’t mean LGBTQ,” Haas explains. “I mean more of what [Emily, who is bisexual] considers casual versus what Brett considers casual. All of those dynamics are going to be deepened.”

Question: March is far away. I want American Gods scoop now! —Rob Ausiello: Well, because you asked so nicely… Pablo Schrieber says the “antagonist and ally” relationship between Mad Sweeney and Laura Moon will be tested big time by his allegiance to Mr. Wednesday when the Starz drama returns for Season 2. The leprechaun’s destiny “is tied to [Wednesday], no matter what, but it’s also very thoroughly tied to her,” the actor says. “So Sweeney is walking the line, balancing what he owes Wednesday and what he’s realizing he feels in other places.” Hmm. Sounds a lot like we’ll see Laura kissing the Blarney Stone before the season’s over, am I right?

Question: Can you give us any Outlander spoilers? (Especially involving Brianna’s and Jamie’s meeting!?!) This is my first time doing this — hope I’m doing it correctly! —Carolina Ausiello: You did OK. I’ll send you some notes about how to refine your approach in a separate email. Regarding the question at hand, I turn it over to our resident sassenach, Kim Roots, who has seen the scene in question: “I have rather high standards for the huge moments on this show — the wedding night, the print shop reunion, etc. — and I was incredibly satisfied by how the father-daughter plays out in [episode number redacted according to Starz’s spoiler restrictions]. Fans of the book definitely won’t be disappointed.”

Question: Elizabeth and Henry on Madam Secretary are #couplegoals. Please tell me anything you can. —Mary Ausiello: An upcoming episode opens with the McCords taking a tango lesson. And one of them is significantly more skilled than the other.

In 2008 I had insurance in California, through my employer. I got laid off in June, but was on COBRA in Sept. 2008, when Blue Cross authorized me for gastric bypass surgery. Yesterday (Dec 23 09) I had to go to the ER due to abdominal pain that turned out to be a complication of the 2008 gastric bypass. Last night I had a CT scan and emergency surgery to correct the problem. Blue Cross rejected the claim, which of course makes sense and pushing it through was just a formality anyway. But today I wondered if, since the procedure was covered originally, would surgery to correct a complication be covered by law even if my insurance lapsed? I know I'm grasping at straws here, but it seems like it might be worth a consultation with an attorney to find out. I think this surgery is going to run to $40K or more. It was a simple laproscopic procedure, but y'know nothing's cheap. The original bypass was billed to Blue Cross at $38K. I know it's not like defect liability, since a surgeon can't guarantee there will not be complications. Also, I know I can't expect free legal advice here. Back in June I knocked into a stationary vehicle in a car park. I waited for the guy to come back and apologised straight away. Hello Thank you for entering in my post I've been with Admiral insurance for more than 1 year, which is my 1st car insurance since I've been in England I've been driving for more than 12 years and I've never made a claim before it was a normal and clear day and i was going to work when I had an accident with a girl riding a moped It was a very silly accident, fortunatelly none was injured, and I only had a broken wind-mirrow, which is no more than 50 of damage I had to call Admiral, my insurer, to sort the problem out, I had no other choice Admiral told me I was not covered to go to work since on the policy agreement says: use for social, domestic and pleasure purposes only. And, according to them, to be covered, my policy had to be: use for social and COMMUNITY. So Community for them means, going to work, it is ridiculas but that's what i was told However they said we cover you, you will have to pay 23.74 extra and you will be covered, it was frustrating, a theft, but I let it go... The absurd story didn't even start yet! I gave Admiral all the details which the police had given to me the day of the accident plus some pictures of the scene, which I took before to leave that day Admiral sent an inspector who interwied me at my house. This inspector wrote a statement of 6 PAGES! about my accident, however, I need to say, he did a very good job On the statement states that none was injured and the fault lies with the moped rider, which is also what the police said on the scene. In addtion this inspector suggested to call my insurer again to finally get my car fixed. Admiral told me I will have to pay for the damage myself and, after all their investigation, if they find out it was not my fault, I can ask e refund for the damage, and they added that this investigation can take up to 3 years, so I will have my money back in 3 years! this is because according to them, the moper rider was injured This is absolutely incredible What would you suggest? Their reasoning is that I am an unsafe driver which I disagree with because I quite easily passed my driving test at the DMV and always think before I do anything when I drive. However, they seem firm on their decision... It's a bit frustrating having my license for so long but still being unable to drive. I'm tired of having to always ask friends for a ride or my parents; I just want a taste of independence. Of course, I'm not trying to be too arrogant or stubborn, I've respected my parent's decision, it's just bugging me a bit now haha. I offered to do a six-month plan instead of a year plan since I'm heading off to college in Septemberish. I'm about to turn 18 in a couple weeks also. Does anyone have any advice?
