#but she just has sympathy for my dad and her’s

Note
So I Edy is in episode 7x07, which I figured, and poor Gavin had to have scenes with her. Poor guy will have to carry the whole scene. We saw/heard about her crying IG post, where she talked about having to study for new auditions, which doesn't mean well for her/great for us that Marisol is going to be sticking around. So, I am not sure why people are convinced that she is endgame for Eddie.
Ryan is King of the Buddie ship, and yes, he had to talk about Eddie’s relationship with Marisol because that is who Eddie is with at the moment and he has to talk about Eddie’s currently LI but he never has the same passion or love about the relationship that is for when he talks about what Buck means to Eddie. It was Ryan who said Eddie loves Buck to his core and not his current LI. Ryan said Eddie sees Buck as his co-parent and not Marisol.
It looks like 8 and 9 are filming now, which is after her teary-eyed for sympathy post. Hopefully, episode 7 is her goodbye episode, and I am rooting for her deciding to go back to being a nun after Christopher tells her that as much as he and his dad like her, his dad will never love her like she hopes.
Imo the only people who might possibly conceive of Aerosol (noxious, toxic to the environment) as a long term LI would be the delusional transphobe herself. Mr Showrunner already expressed his distaste for LIs who are just there to be LIs and not part of the whole story and therefore unable to interact with other characters. That’s why he brought back Mr Kinard for Buck. Sadly, it will never be fast enough getting rid of her awful queerphobic presence. And we’re all stuck for the time being. 😓
Ryan would have to talk about the travesty that is Eddie’s relationship with her because that’s what he’s stuck with for now just like the rest of us. But he talks about it as a learning experience for Eddie. (When, oh when will poor Eddie learn he can choose happiness for himself??)
Here is the new scenario that absolutely won’t happen but I would love to see happen. (Thank my beloved @daisyssousa for helping conceive of this)
High profile businessman Christopher returns from his jet setting, out of town lifestyle and is now forced to spend time with the awful mistake his father is keeping around. In a brilliant strategic move of psychological warfare, he takes a liking to constantly putting on The Nun horror films on repeat in the Diaz house until his poor brainwashed and tormented father actually kicks the awful queerphobic demon out of their house for good.
And the Diaz men live happily ever after. 🌈🎉
The End.

#man ive never seen an eating disorder kill someone else besides a parent infecting a child but my nana is really trying#shes like 1000% orthotexic. will not eat anything not filled with vegetables or fat. and my grandpa is 87yo with a heart condition currentl#in the hospital for covid bc thry went to Christmas church and dont believe in being vaccinated and my dad is so frustrated#bc he knows his mom is not gonna give his dad hearty foods. he needs to eat like protein shakes and meat and ice cream. anything thats not#her cooking which sucks on top of being extremely healthy. except its not healthy bc they dont eat a balanced diet#so its my nanas eating disorder killing her husband and shes so fucking frustrating. im like 99% sure she has obsessive compulsive#personally disorder bc she fits to a T and has zero insight. she may have full on 0cd bc talking to my dad he has more obvious 0cd#compulsions than i do. he used to say phrases before going to bed and would take 2 steps across the floor to prevent bad things from#happening. so like im pretty sure my nana is where i get my perfectionism and 0cd. god. i wish i could express how fucked up she is#like my dad said at least he had a stable home to grow up in but like she has zero sympathy for other people. cannot look past herself. wil#not wear a mask bc she doesnt care enough abt other ppl. my dad was like: u would not have survived in that house. which is fair bc i am#barely keeping it together coming from a stable home with two sympathetic parents who i know love me#and like its sad that they're suffering the effects of buying into the fox news bullshit and its killing them#but also. genuinely. i think theyre not very good ppl. theyre the type of people who think they're better bc they're religious. white. and#thin. and theyre not better thsn anyone. their grandchildren cant stand them. well cant stand her at least. papa is just quite so its hard#to say what hes thinking. apparently he was confused last night and saying something about eating dinner on the golf course. which sounds#nicer thsn being in the hospital lol. ugh. he seems not long for this world tbh. may he pass peacefully to b with his 1st wife who died of#brain cancer at age like 20 or something. so it goes. bleh. how many funerals are intended for me in the next 5 years? hopefully none but#that seems improbable with the unspoken drain circling that seems to b going on in this family. old age and like almost 10 years of cancer#defying the stats but for how much longer?#i dunno. its just so weird to watch these things happen and not talk about it directly to the other ppl who see it#i worry that ill come off as too callose or inappropriate bc i have that tendency when something bad is happening but thats everyone else#excuse? idk i just feel like its better to talk abt things#unrelated#ed mention#i tell u this so i can say these things to someone and also bc if i were u. i would like to hear the drama#bc im nosey and i assume other r too ;-]

I used to bar my door with a chair to prevent my mom barging in and yelling at me when I'd left dinner before I was allowed to (often because of an argument). And I was like 'this is normal. This is what parents are like.' No it's fucking not. Or at least they're not supposed to be like that.

My patience and emotional stability is at an all time low, like man, I haven't cried this much in a very long time. Anyway my pride stuff from target came in and i got some mcr merch on the way. A reward for my suffering. Also the new MCR song and Florence album on repeat.
#personal#which is to say i am trying to distract myself#but also have healthy emotional outlets that are self destructive#bc the more i think about my dad being in the hospital. the more ill think about him#and everything that came before this past weekend. and everything that could come with each possible outcome#which is to say i am being choked by my daddy issues and want to curl up and cease to exist#but i guess work has been sufficiently busy enough. but really my emotional fortitude is uh. bad rn#dont mind me. im putting this here bc i refuse to put it on fb#and get a bunch of sympathy replies from folks i know or used to know. or who know my face#also. i thought sitting in the room with him unconscious on the hospital bed hooked up to tubes and lines#would make it easier to talk out loud about all the shit he caused. all the fuckin issues i should def see a therapist about#but all i could do was sit there and stare at him. and think about how old and small and feeble he looked#and how age and time just fuckin sneaks up on us#and i thought id be able to say out loud all the shit his alcoholic did. how it got him here.#how he finally got his kids to visit him real quick and all it took was a heart attack#but gods. i hate the way my voice sounded so i didnt say a fuckin thing#just sat there for an hour watching him. thinking of all the stupid shit ill never tell him#and to top it off. my ma aint helping. like. i know she has her own emotional rollercoaster esp with this#but jfc she doesnt have to drag me along for the ride.#mommy issues flaring up. i need a handful of ibuprofen and week long nap for this#i meant NOT self destructive. but idk maybe speeding down the highway yelling to music is bad

Out With The Old, In With the New? - LN
Summary: Lando wants to get y/n a new car, but she loves her little beaten up banger
No part 2 requests please
Tumblr media
There's a lot of things Lando loves about his girlfriend, her love for her car is one of them, but the car itself is not.
She's a bit of a terrifying driving, not that she's bad but she goes fast and doesn't always pay the most attention. It's never ended in a crash or even a bump, but Lando just always feels on edge when he's not the one driving.
Y/n's car, that she has named Baby Blue because it's a tiny little car that's a faded blue colour, actually lives at her parents house and is now only in use when she is back in England.
Today they're back and y/n is pouting at the sight of her little VW Lupo. Lando and her dad are also looking at it in slight dismay.
It'd sounded like a bag of hammers when she tried to start the engine and they managed to get it to a garage where they told her the gearbox is gone and the head gasket needs replaced.
"Maybe it's time to call it?" Lando offers up as a solution only to wish he could immediately eat the words back out of existence when y/n look at him with tears in her eyes, her teeth catching her lip to stop it from quivering quite so violently. "Or not-we can not do that too."
"It's fixable sweetheart. It's just...not really worth fixing, it'll cost more than the car's worth." Y/d/n states looking at his daughter in sympathy.
"Uhh...you guys go wait in the car. I've got this." Y/n mumbles making the two men exchange a look.
"I'll pay for it, y/n." Lando states since he knows how right her dad is and while she's not broke, she's not got the money at the moment to be paying to fix it.
"No. I'm not getting Baby Blue fixed. No point. I'm just going to talk to the guy about selling it for-parts." Y/n choking out the last word.
It seems silly, being so attached to an inanimate object. But it was a car she got when she was 17 and it's seen her through so many huge moment and memories. She'd never get rid of it if that was an option.
"Baby." Lando frowns moving towards her but she sighs and shrugs forcing a smile.
"I'm fine, it's ok. I couldn't keep the car forever...it's just a car. Go on, I've got this." Y/n smiles quickly moving to kiss him before she steps towards the mechanic.
It even hurts Lando for y/n to call Baby Blue "just a car" when even he knows that it's much more than just a car to her. But the two men do as asked and move outside to let her talk to the mechanic.
"I'm going to get her dream car." Lando declares earning a chuckle from the man before he pats the F1 driver's shoulder.
"I'm sure that will help perk her up a bit. But I think that car might've been the first love of her life."
Lando sighs as y/n appears and immediately moves to Lando smiling when he takes her directly into a hug.
"They said about £600 for parts."
"That's not too bad. Give me a couple days, I'll find you a new banger to love."
It's later on once they're back at Lando's place, since he does still own a house in England for when he's back, while she's trying to make herself something to eat to help herself feel better at the loss that Lando appears behind her.
"How about...we got car shopping tomorrow? You can get any car you want, a mourning gift from me." Lando offers making her sigh a little and lean back on him, giving him the chance to notice her expression. "You're sad."
"Yeah." Y/n confirms with a sigh. "He was my baby...I know I sort of abandoned her but still, that's my Baby Blue." Y/n sighs before picking up a slice of cucumber and throwing it in her mouth. "I suppose a new car sounds ok. Nothing too extravagant."
"What's your dream car? Extravagant or not."
"Mmm...Jeep Wrangler, Rubicon."
"Jeep Wrangler Rubicon." Lando laughs then patting her sides. "I think we might be able to make that happen. I'm going to send out a couple messages to the guys that did up my Land Rover."
"Yeah?" Y/n smiles earning a nod before he kisses her neck softly.
"I hate seeing you sad, so if that's what I have to do then yes."
-
It took a few weeks to arrange the surprise for y/n, he had to make sure that everything went perfectly. He also had to manage to arrange everything between pre-season prep and being in Monaco.
Y/n had perked up but was still sort of sad at the knowledge her old car was being ripped apart and sold.
"Alright, baby. Time to see the new car." Lando beams as they climb out of his car, actually so eager and ready beyond ready for her to see this.
"The Jeep?" Y/n beams since she's not actually got to be involved in its much with Lando insisting the one he found needed a few things adjusted and fixed. "You know I'm going to find out how much you paid for it and start up like an instalment plan."
"You know I'd send every penny back to you." Lando hums as he links their hands and guides her into the garage where the Jeep is awaiting. "Ok, I need to cover your eyes. I'd say close them but you'd just open them."
Y/n goes to defend herself but she stops herself knowing that he is actually completely right about it. So she allows him to cover her eyes and guide her slowly, careful that she doesn't trip on anything as they walk into the warehouse of the garage.
He grins as he spots the group of people awaiting for them.
"Ok, are you ready to see it?" Lando asks making her bounce a little in excitement.
"Yes."
Lando removes his hands and she beams then gasps slapping her hand over mouth as she spots a second surprise that was really the last thing she was expecting.
In front of her sits the dream Jeep, a powder pink that is only just pink enough to not be considered white. Two door, currently the soft top roof is put away exposing the roll bar and the doors aren't attached. She loves the fully exposed look of it all.
But then opposing the Jeep is the one thing that might just have healed the broken heart she had from losing her car.
There sits baby blue, his faded blue colour just as faded as when she walked away, but it's fairly obvious he's not there as an accessory.
"You saved Baby Blue?" Y/n sniffles earning a laugh and hug as she wipes at her eyes.
"Yeah, he's all fixed up. All ready to be abused on the roads again. I couldn't let you get rid of him when it made you that sad. So I paid for them to give him some TLC, fix up everything and replace anything that might've been on the way to breaking. Internally he's practically brand spanking new. Didn't want to change anything on the outside in case you thought I just got you a new one."
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you-I love the jeep as well, it's literally the most perfect thing that I'll ever drive...and I love the colour." Y/n laughs then kissing Lando several times. "I think they both need a test drive."
"I was hoping you'd say that." Lando hums then nodding as one of the mechanics moves over with the keys. "Which one first, a test of the shiny new baby? Or a test of your little old man?"
"Well I think shiny new baby, and little old man can be my means of getting home." Y/n grins then moving to kiss him again. "I love you so much. I loved you before this but I think now you've got me locked in for life, even if you decide you don't want me anymore. I don't care, you've just bonded us forever."
"Baby Blue and whatever you decide to name the Jeep can be passed down as heirlooms." Lando jokes then handing her the Jeeps key. "Let's see if this Jeep gets the same treatment as Baby Blue."
"You need to stop saying I'm rough with him. He could handle it just fine." Y/n smiles earning a head shake since he knows she's making the innuendos purposely.
They get the Jeep out and y/n doesn't hide how much nicer it feels to drive a 4 wheel drive with a bit nicer suspension that is on the VW Lupo. But when they get back and arrange for the Jeep to be delivered to the house, she climbs into the little blue car and sighs sitting in the drive seat like it's home.
"Did you just buy a whole new engine?" Y/n jokes as the engine slightly more purrs to like rather than growling and clunking as it had every time since she'd owned the car. "I really can't thank you enough-for both, but especially for this."
"I really wasn't going to let you get rid of Baby Blue. I think I'll pay whatever price for you to keep this car going till long after we're gone. Might even insist he gets a spot in a museum just to guarantee he's never stripped and sold for parts." Lando laughs then leaning over and kissing her. "I'll leave you two to have your drive home alone. Can't leave my car here."
"Ok. Thank you. I'm sucking your dick so good when we get home."
Lando splutters out a laugh, sort of hoping no one heard that since his door is wide open, before climbing out the car, somewhat cocky that he knows that she will definitely follow through on that promise.
Y/n does actually get out realising she needs to thank everyone before they leave and she even tears up explaining how much it all means to her which seems to strike a couple heart strings since these guys work with cars but seeing someone so genuinely appreciate their work is a nice feeling.
Plus knowing they gave her back a car that most people wouldn't even consider looking at twice, but is valued equal to or more than the Jeep that a lot of people would probably find more eager to own. Though the powder pink may not appeal to many people, it is something she thanked them for too.
"Alright, time to go. Thanks for coming here too guys." Lando smiles waving his hand at the group after watching y/n drive away first before climbing into his own car which is actually one of his McLaren's that he keeps over here in the UK.
There's something right about seeing her drive Baby Blue again. He might not really like the car as a thing separate to y/n, but he knows how much it means to her and really he can't hold it against her for liking to drive a little banger. And he'll pay for any repairs to that little car until either y/n and him aren't on this planet or until the minuscule chance of her deciding to get rid of it comes.

When I was young I was dating this absolute cocknob right as I graduated high school. More on that later.
As a present ostensibly to me (but mostly my folks) I was whisked away after graduation to spend two weeks in Europe with my parents. The plan was to see London, Paris, and Heidelberg.
I was moody and a teenager and was largely disgruntled by this fabulous adventure. I went along with sullen foot dragging and black looks. I commandeered my reprehensible boyfriends enormous black hoodie and wore it on the trip. At the start of our jaunt into London I mentioned offhandedly to my mom that it was burning when I peed.
“You’re just dehydrated, and your period is about to start.”
She was right on both counts. I upped my water content, and had my period (which may have contributed to my overall ill humors.)
So we found ourselves in a tiny hotel in Paris, a week into our jaunt, when I repeated, “Man, it just really burns when I pee.”
“What?!” my mom demanded.
“I told you like a week ago that it was burning.”
“Augh! Now we have to go to the hospital!” she proclaimed.
“What?! Why?”
“Because,” she snapped, “You have a bladder infection.”
More bickering ensued, and my temperament was not improved by knowing I’d told her I was having an issue a week ago and been ignored.
My dad heard about the itinerary shift with resignation and we trooped down the narrow stairs as a family to ask the concierge where the nearest hospital was.
The absolutely lovely man at the desk was immediately so concerned when we asked for directions. “Is everything okay?” he asked with very genuine sympathy and I muttered that everything was fine, we just needed a quick visit.
Lucky for us the hospital was only a few blocks away. We walked there and the building was massive, home to what appeared to be several separate wings but no obvious main entrance.
We wandered inside and it was like a weird dream. There was no one around. Huge echoing corridors met us as we peered in vain for a front desk or possibly signs. We searched with increasing frustration for anyone to talk to and somehow found ourselves in some tiny back offices.
A woman sat at her desk and looked bewildered to see three lost Americans approaching her. She greeted us and as a family we all simultaneously realized the massive flaw in our current course.
You see, dear reader, we did not speak French. My dad and I both spoke German. I inquired politely if she also spoke German and she shook her head looking increasingly cornered. We asked if she spoke English.
“Leetle…?” she replied.
“My daughter has a bladder infection! Blad-der?” My mother declared this at a high volume as if volume alone could bridge the communication gap, while simultaneously miming over my stomach, circling where she presumed my pelvis was under the gigantic black sweatshirt.
The woman’s expression turned extremely skeptical and she slowly repeated “Bladder…” She scrutinized me for a moment then said, “You go…. This?” And pointed to something purple on her desk.
“The purple signs?” my dad asked.
She nodded and we set off. I was stewing with resentment at my mom for having ignored my first complaint when we were in a country that spoke English. And also generalized hostility about being on the trip and the object of miming. Now here we were in a French hospital, lost and unable to communicate. I also was under no illusions that someone who didn’t know the word for purple would have any clue what bladder meant.
And slowly I realized what had actually happened as I peered at the purple signs. My mother circling my stomach with her hands, gesturing to my middle. The woman’s skeptical face.
“Hey mom,” I chirped, syrupy and smug. “I don’t speak French. But I do know that it’s a Latin based language. And wouldn’t you know, but that purple sign looks an awful lot like it says ‘maternity’ to me.”
“Shut up!” she snapped.
A few minutes later we stood surrounded by the moans of pregnant people and the cries of fresh new lungs wailing at their first taste of cold air.
I smiled sweetly at my disgruntled mother.
Luck was with us however. A nearby father noticed us and came over to ask if we needed help. With perfect English he gave us clear directions.
As we finally approached the right area for walk in services it was clear how we’d missed it the first time. A large swathe of the front of the building was covered in tarps. A huge wall sized window was broken, and construction was taking place, but at least it had a bustle of people and a clear line. We sat down in the queue of chairs.
While we sat some police officers came in. They walked up to a man ahead of us in line and with few words exchanged they handcuffed and led him politely away.
I was genuinely so out of reality. Every new thing that happened was like a bizarre dream from the empty hallways to the maternity ward and now this tarp strewn waiting room in which people could just be calmly arrested.
It was a shock to me then when we reached the front and the nurse spoke with perfectly unaccented English to assess me. Not only did she know bladder but a whole slew of other medical words I couldn’t guess at. I peed on a stick and we waited.
When we got the results she told me it was good because they could give me antibiotics today for my now confirmed infection, but bad because I’d need the doctor to sign off. I nodded and my mom and I were escorted to yet another small room to wait.
When the doctor arrived I felt suddenly gangly and awkward. I’m not tall but I towered over this tiny French woman who radiated calm composure. She seemed to be around my grandmothers age. She looked up at my blushing face and said, “Bladder infection?” Her English had a much stronger accent than the nurse but with the same medical competence.
I nodded.
She nodded too and we sat in a still contemplative moment on my UTI.
“Do you have… boyfriend?”
My face was on fire, every cell of me wanting to flee from this tiny perfect old woman. I nodded.
She nodded too. We sat still in the knowledge that I had a boyfriend and a UTI.
“Do you and your boyfriend do… it?” Her delicate accent stretched it into “eet.”
I don’t know if she didn’t know the word for sex or if she thought saying “it” was kinder but I wanted to melt into the floor and cease to exist to escape my increasing mortification and her meaningful pause. I nodded.
“Okay,” she said kindly. “When you and your boyfriend do… it… you must make pee pee.”
I writhed slightly under the psychic damage of this elegant medical professional saying “pee pee” and I nodded more emphatically hoping she’d desist this torture.
She continued. “If you and your boyfriend do… it… five times? You make five pee pees. If you do it ten times, you make ten pee pees.”
My face had never been hotter, all the blood in my body had volcanoed to my head, pounding in my ears and valiantly attempting to give me an aneurism to end my suffering. There is no mortification as acute to a teenager as an adult talking about sex and here was this medical professional telling me about… it.
Meanwhile, my mother. Who should have been regretting her poor parenting and reflecting on her neglect in failing impart this vital part piece of sex ed to her kid. Alas, she was laughing herself sick the corner. She added to my embarrassment by quietly repeating “pee pee” and “it” under her breath as she wheezed and chortled.
The doctor patted my hand kindly and handed me the antibiotics. I got to spend the rest of my trip in Europe avoiding direct sunlight and listening to my mother parrot “Do you do… eet?”

ballad of a homeschooled girl
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: a new arrival at camp half-blood is anything but extraordinary, but your attachment to the broody head counselor and claims of a mother who supposedly has no children cause suspicions to arise
word count: 3.9k
featuring: broody!luke who is somewhat soft for reader, angst, reader seems delulu (but she’s not trust 🤞), mostly primer for my upcoming luke series
series masterlist ||| next part
the air is humid, causing the sheets to stick to your already clammy skin. you shift in the small cot, peeling the bedding off your skin, relaxing when the cool breeze caresses your arms and legs. it’s peaceful, and your chest rises and falls in a steady rhythm. just as you’re about to cross back into dreamland, a girl’s voice causes your eyes to open.
“she’s waking up! look!” she yells, and you know that she’s pointing at you.
you sigh, propping yourself up on your elbows. you look around drowsily, trying to make sense of your surroundings. it’s when you make eye contact with a girl who has light pink hair, that you realize you’re no longer walking down a busy city street, hustling through the crowd. confusion settles in, and you wonder how you ended up in this infirmary, and whatever happened to that crazy lady who was trailing you. you open your mouth, trying to speak, but the girl just shoves a cup with a straw in it towards you.
“drink,” she demands.
you hesitate, uncertainty clear on your face. how can you even trust this girl? she seems to sense your emotions, because her hand rests gently on your forearm, pushing the drink closer to your chapped lips.
“drink,” she repeats, and you nod.
a small sip can’t hurt, you decide, and your lips wrap delicately around the straw. as you drink the liquid, you realize that it tastes like the pina coladas your dad would make with the fresh pineapple from the farmers market over the summer. you smile fondly at the memory, relaxing further into the uncomfortable mattress. you sigh in relief, feeling the throbbing in your head diminish. the tranquility, however, doesn’t last for long because the girl with the pink hair returns.
“i’m anna,” she starts, taking a seat on the edge of your bed. “how much do you remember before you got here?” she continues.
“where is here exactly?” you ask, shifting in the bed to put some distance between the two of you.
her eyes widen, and something along the lines of confusion and distrust cross her features. she doesn’t say anything, just spending a few minutes analyzing you. a wave of self-consciousness washes over you; do you really look that distraught?
“you have no idea what you are, what we are,” she mumbles. there’s both amazement and sympathy in her voice.
“i’m a girl, if that’s what you’re asking,” you snap, crossing your arms over your chest.
she laughs at you. “you’re in for a rude awakening,” anna replies between giggles.
the next day, you're walking out of the infirmary with strict instructions to go see chiron. you have no idea who this guy is, but all the med staff assure you that you’ll know when you see him. it’s only when you come face to face with a half-horse, half-human -- a centaur -- that you understand exactly what they meant. he smiles at you, and you assume that he’s trying to be comforting, but you still feel so uneasy.
“come. we have a lot to discuss,” he says, resting a firm hand on your shoulder as he leads you towards another room in the old victorian house.
you nod, walking along the veranda towards an open-aired room. the walk feels like a thousand years, as other campers point and whisper in your direction. you want to shrink in on yourself, but you don’t. miraculously, this air of confidence envelops you, and you march into the room with steady and sure strides. the other person in the room looks at you and chiron. he’s older, adorning black sunglasses and holding a diet coke. he rolls his eyes at the sight of you, getting up from his adirondack chair, grumbling about how much he hates kids and wishes he could have a drink. you raise your eyebrows, looking to chiron for an explanation, but he just shakes his head.
“sit, then we’ll talk,” he promises, gesturing to one of the empty seats.
once you’re both seated, it’s quiet. you don’t really have anything to say to the older man in front of you. you’re still confused by anna, and all the cryptic comments she made these past two days. you have no memory of how you got here, or why. nothing makes sense to you.
chiron seems to know that though, as he says, “i understand this can all be very confusing. so let’s start with the basics. you’re at camp half-blood, a safe haven for demi-gods. for people like you.”
he pauses for a moment, probably expecting you to say something, but you don’t. instead, you turn to the left, staring out to the water. it’s so serene, completely contrasting your inner turmoil. when chiron realizes you don’t have anything to say, he continues on:
“here you’ll prepare for battle, complete quests, make friends, and live your life free of worry. at the end of the summer, you’ll have the option of returning home, or remaining as a year-round camper. for now though, i’ll have one of our older, more experienced demi-gods give you a tour. unless of course, there’s something else you’d like to discuss?”
the way he’s looking at you suggests that you should have more to say -- some deep dark secret waiting to be revealed -- but you don’t. he waits, but once you don’t acknowledge his words, he sighs, rising from his seat. you follow, moving towards the door with him. as you hand grasps the handle, it tumbles open, and your body moves forward. thankfully, you don’t crash to your feet, or collide with the person in the doorway, but your cheeks flame in embarrassment.
when you look up, you’re surprised to see a boy. he looks to be about your age with his tall stature and muscular frame. his face is blank, almost bored looking, except for the hints of anger and annoyance in his brown eyes. his jaw is firm and locked, as he crosses his arms and gives you a once over. he hates me already, you think, and while you wish you didn’t care, it stings just a bit.
“this is luke, our head counselor. he’ll show you around camp, and help you settle into the hermes cabin, your temporary home,” chiron explains.
you nod towards luke, but don’t comment on anything chiron says. without another word, he turns on his heel and marches down the steps of the front porch. his pace is brisk, and his long strides make it hard for you to catch up with him, but you manage. once you’re walking side by side with him, it’s quiet between the two of you. he doesn’t point out any of the details, and his speed makes it hard for you to actually absorb anything.
“if you’re gonna walk so fast, the least you could do is explain what everything is,” you snap, annoyed.
he stops walking all together, huffs, and turns to face you. in the bright light of the sun, you notice his scar. it’s pale white and risen above the skin, alerting you that it’s still fairly new, and runs from the corner of his eye to his jawline. he should look scary or intimidating, but you only think that he looks angelic. you gasp softly at the realization, lips parting. his eyes dart down to your mouth, and there’s something almost sinister in his gaze when he finally starts talking.
“archery range, lava wall, and training arena,” he grumbles, pointing out all the spots closest to you.
instead of looking at all the places, your gaze is still focused on him. he rolls his eyes, facing forward and continuing on his walk.
“if you’re going to ask me to point stuff out, at least pay attention when i do,” he snaps.
now it’s your turn to roll your eyes as you follow him towards a horseshoe of cabins. each one is different and seems to represent their own thing. as you’re walking past the center, you notice that there are two lone cabins in the middle. you freeze. your head tilts as you observe the cabin on the right. you feel a strange pull towards it, and start following the invisible string tying you to the building.
“what are you doing?” luke asks, and from his tone you know his arms are crossed.
“i need to go there,” you explain, looking over your shoulder at him.
“the hera cabin?” he questions, following you.
you nod, continuing on your path towards the cabin. you climb up the stairs, and tentatively touch the door handle. it creaks open, daring you to come inside. you turn back to luke, who’s waiting at the bottom of the stairs with an uncertain look in his eyes.
“i have to go in here, but i have no idea why,” you explain, feeling something close to bashful.
he nods, swallowing an imaginary liquid, before climbing up the stairs after you. he waits patiently behind you, his left shoulder grazing your right as the two of you stand on the porch. you want to go inside, need to go inside, but the rational side of you is preventing you from doing so. it all feels like a trap.
luke, noticing your unease, mumbles, “there’s a barrier. nothing can hurt you here, not like they could out there.”
he doesn’t clarify what the other there and in here are, but you know exactly what he means. the creepy, often imaginative figures you’d see out in the city aren’t present here. you haven’t felt their presence since you woke up in that tiny bed in the infirmary. whatever is drawing you to this cabin, is something else, a higher being. before you can continue to deliberate, you push open the door and step inside.
it doesn’t look much like a cabin, rather a temple. the entire thing is made of marble, complete with large columns from floor to ceiling. on the walls, there are several engravings, and when you look closely, you recognize them as peacocks. your fingers trace over the intricate design, and your sense of anxiety quells tremendously. when you look towards the center, at the giant statue, you feel somewhat relieved.
“this is my cabin,” you announce. the statement shocks both you and luke.
“what? no it’s not. hera doesn’t have kids, that’s zeus’s job,” luke says.
“c’mon, time to go,” he continues, grabbing your shoulder and trying to push you out the door.
you dig your heels into the floor, refusing to move. you know everything you’ve said so far sounds crazy, is crazy, but you have to be here. you try to come up with an explanation, anything to make sense of the situation, but remain empty handed.
“you’re right. let’s just go. sorry,” you reply, letting him lead you back out the door and down the stairs.
it isn’t until you step foot in the hermes cabin, his cabin, that you realize your duffle bag is missing. all the other kids, which is a surprisingly large number, have various personal belongings scattered around their sleeping area. some of them have comic books, others have small trinkets, and a couple even dare to show off their stuffed animals. luke walks further into the cabin, the crowd parting like the red sea. they’re quiet, and watch eagerly as he opens a closet door and pulls out a well-loved sleeping bag. the whispers don’t start until he waves you over, and places the item directly next to his bed.
“you sleep here,” he mumbles, pointing to the spot on the floor.
“what? i told you about the other cabin,” you shout, frustration present in your voice.
the hermes cabin is quiet, all of them listen in on your conversation with their head counselor, their older brother.
“and i told you to drop it,” he replies, and there’s a subtle warning in his voice. you can’t decide if he’s trying to say this isn’t the time or place or if he’s insinuating that you’re fucking crazy and he wants nothing to do with it.
“where’s your stuff?” he asks, completely changing the subject.
you notice he does that a lot, but answer, “i don’t know. my duffle’s missing.”
his eyebrows furrow at your words, and he crosses his arms again. he throws his head back, gritting his teeth.
“alright! who took her stuff? cough it up, let's go!” he shouts.
luke’s met with silence, which irks him even more. he turns away from you, facing the swarm of pre-teens and teens. he flashes them his most unamused look, one he’s been carrying with you all day, but continues to wait patiently.
“somebody better own up to it, or i’m taking away dessert privileges,” he announces.
the room immediately grows noisy with everyone whispering to each other. some kids are trying to determine who it could be, while others are fully putting the blame on their siblings. there’s even one girl who whispers about how luke never does this for anyone, so you must be special.
you try to come up with an answer to luke’s question. who took your bag? but you can’t seem to figure it out. you know you had it with you when you left your dad’s house, but then things turned messy extremely fast. you remember the strap when that weird dog thing followed you into the alley, and how you grabbed it by the handles to shove it in the overhead compartment of the amtrak. but after that, everything gets kind of blurry; days melting into one. finally, you decide that it must not have made it to camp.
you tap luke’s bicep, and he turns away from the crowd to meet your eyes. “i don’t even think it made it here,” you whisper, biting your bottom lip.
luke sucks in a breath, nodding his head before turning back to the crowd. “never mind guys, as you were,” he dismisses.
you crouch down, hoping to set up your sleeping bag and take a nap, but he stops you with a hand on your arm. he gestures for you to follow him with a tilt of his head, and you agree. he leads you towards the back of the cabin, outside a supposedly hidden door. when you step out into the bright sunlight, you stop and let your hand cover your eyes, but luke is already walking towards a forest. you follow, easily catching up since he’s walking slower, and match his strides. once the two of you are far enough into the woods, out of the earshot of nosey campers, he sits down in the grass, beckoning for you to follow.
“tell me everything you remember,” he says, a serious look on his face.
you look down, fingers twiddling with the strands of grass. you pull your knees up to your chest, wrapping your right arm around your kneecaps as you continue to braid the grass with your left hand. from your observations, you know luke is anything but patient, but he doesn’t push you to say anything. he just sits there, palms splayed on the grass as he leans back on them, looking at the fluffy white clouds and clear blue sky.
“i don’t know how i got here. i keep replaying everything in my head, but i wasn’t even near the woods. then, i was just here,” you whisper, finally looking towards him.
you find that he’s already looking at you. intense brown eyes meeting your lost and confused gaze. he nods his head, signaling that he’s trying to process your words; looking for a meaning in the code, one that even you can’t decipher.
“why’d you leave?” he asks, and you stop fiddling with the grass. “your house i mean…why leave?” he continues.
he’s looking down at his bright red converse, and there’s a certain vulnerability in his gaze that you’re all too familiar with. you raise your eyebrows at his expression, thinking about what his question reveals about him. maybe he doesn’t have a family. and that thought just makes you sad, so you decide to answer him honestly.
“i love my dad, but there were too many odd things happening, things he couldn’t explain, and stuff my therapist didn't believe. there were winged horses, their manes the color of the pitch black night. or dogs the size of a dumpster, and then that brunette lady who follows me around everywhere. i just wanted to keep him safe, so i left,” you explain, meeting luke’s eyes for the second time.
“i get that, wanting to protect your family, i mean. i’d do the same for my sisters,” he replies.
you hum in acknowledgment, leaning back on your elbows and extending your legs in a straight position. you tilt your head back, enjoying the warm sun on your exposed neck, and the soft rustle of the flora around you. you turn your head, eyes squinting to look at luke, and your gaze is immediately drawn to the scar on the left side of his face.
“what happened to you?” you ask, tentatively.
luke sucks in a breath of air. his jaw clenches and anger swarms around in his already dark eyes. his hands ball into fists at his sides, and you realize that maybe that was too personal of a question.
“you don’t have to answer,” you backtrack, “it just seems like a story worth telling.”
he laughs bitterly, “it’s not. my dad sent me on a fucking joke of a quest, and this was the result. all pain, no glory.”
you frown at his words. you don’t want to pity luke, because you know that luke doesn’t want that from you. he wants people to understand him; to listen to his feelings of resentment and disappointment, and despite only knowing him for an hour max, you decide that you’d do that for him.
“don’t beat yourself up about it. the gods are stupid anyway, my mother’s cabin doesn’t even have a bed for me to sleep in,” you say.
there you go again with the mother thing.
“your mother can’t be hera,” luke announces, finality in his tone.
“i know that. but i know that she is. she’s the one that’s been helping me; the one who brought me here,” you explain, finally making the connection.
luke shakes his head in disbelief, “i think you’re going crazy from lack of food.”
you open your mouth, ready to protest his accusations, but luke cuts you off with a fierce look and wave of his hand. he stands up from the grass, holding his hand out to you. you huff, but wrap your hand around his, as he helps life you off the ground and to your feet. once you’re on your feet, you go to remove your hand from his, but you find yourself face to face. he’s already looking at you with a mix of admiration and curiosity. no one’s ever looked at you that way, and you can’t fathom why he is.
“what? is there dirt on my face?” you ask, pulling hand from his to wipe at your chin.
he laughs, loud and joyous, then answers, “no. you’re just different.”
you huff, again, and cross your arms defensively. “my therapist says i’m just unique,” you say.
luke laughs again. his shoulders shake and he has to stop walking to gain his composure. you wait the few minutes it takes for him to collect himself, and feel the smile taking over your features. there’s something enchanting about his laugh, you think, and that thought scares you. you shouldn’t be getting this attached. not yet.
“can we go to lunch, please? i’m so hungry,” you complain, breaking the aura of radiance and joy.
the sound of your voice sobers luke up, and he nods in agreement. he doesn’t even acknowledge you any further, just walks through the path in the woods, towards the center of camp. his strides are back to being quick and long, and you struggle to keep up with him. but you chose to ignore it; you shut him out.
the walk back feels infinitely longer, and you’re relieved to see the dining pavilion. it’s a large mess hall, with picnic tables inside the building as opposed to out. each one of them holds various campers, and you notice how there is a giant fire pit burning in the middle of the room. it seems counter intuitive; no need for the warmth of the fire in the stifling summer heat, which becomes more apparent now that luke’s cold nature is back.
you chance a look at said boy, and find that he’s already watching you. without saying a word, his hand comes to rest at the small of your back; palm splayed on the region between your jean shorts and the hem of your bright orange camp shirt. he gently pushes you forward, and you comply, following his lead. as you walk, you hear the campers whispering. they’re not subtle.
“that’s the new girl.”
“anna says she’s crazy, has no clue what a demigod even is.”
“i heard she’s not even a real demigod, just someone to bewitch luke.”
“oh he’s bewitched alright.”
you clench your jaw at their words, an angry fire in your eyes. you hate when people talk about you behind your back, and you’re not afraid to let these thirteen year olds know that. you whip your head around, so fast you’re surprised you don’t whiplash. as your mouth opens, ready to spew out insults, luke pushes you forward and away from the culprits. your anger only shifts from them to him.
“what’s your problem?” you demand, stopping in your tracks to face him head on.
“i’m not the one with the problem here,” luke mumbles.
for some reason, that statement hurts you more than it should. you laugh bitterly, blinking back the tears that are threatening to come out. it’s been a day and everyone already hates me.
“right, i get it,” you reply, stepping away from him when he tries to reach out for you.
“no that’s not what i meant,” luke says, desperation in his voice.
“fuck this. i don’t even want to be here anyways,” you announce.
before he can say or do anything, you’re out the door.
you wander through the camp grounds, fighting off tears. there’s no reason for you to be acting like this; people have always hated you, so why would camp half-blood be different? because it was supposed to be different, you thought. the path you meant to take, back to the hermes cabin, veers off course until you’re standing in front of the hera cabin. you don’t hesitate this time, to climb the steps and take refuge inside.
once the door closes, and the lock clicks, you come face to face with the looming statue. her eyes pierce your soul, and you sink back in on yourself. it’s a statue, you remind yourself, and that boosts your confidence somehow. you look her in the eyes, and swear her gaze meets yours.
“why would you bring me here?” you ask, voice wobbly from the tears.
“i hate it here! and i hate you!” you shout, stomping your foot like a child. you feel like a child.
you sink down to your knees, forehead coming to rest on the ruffle of her toga. the marble is cool and smooth against your hot skin. the temperature change grounds you, and slowly, your tears subside.
you decide, in that very moment, that these people won’t see you cry. ever.

Always room for seconds (dp x dc)
"There they go again," says Aunt Alicia as she looks at the hazmat-clad backs of her sister and her husband jumping into their mish-mash-of-a-van. "And on Thanksgiving too," she finishes to herself as she turns toward her niece and nephew. Neither of them look surprised, though Jazz is clearly more affected if the tick in her jaw is any indication.
"They promised," she practically spits but Danny just sighs and puts a hand on her shoulder. It seems to draw the fight out of Jazz a bit and she sags onto herself.
Alicia loves her sister but she can be so irresponsible sometimes.
"Come on kids, let's go back inside. It's about time to put the turk-" she stops short, then groans. Maddie had insisted on bringing the turkey on account of not wanting Alicia to go to all the trouble, and Alicia had agreed on the condition that her sister wouldn't try to make it. "...And the turkey is still in the van isn't it?"
Danny makes a face. "It's probably for the best. I'm pretty sure I saw it move on the way here."
Alicia doesn't let her head fall into her hands, but only just. Instead, she takes a deep breath to calm herself down to rally her thoughts. "Alright. It'll be too late by the time we drive to town and buy a new raw one, so we can just get some already made from the store. That good for you guys?"
Jazz and Danny make sounds of assent before all three of them pile up in the car. Town isn't too far away, and the trip is mostly silent. Alicia is hesitating over what to say to cheer up her niece and nephew. In the end, they pull up to the grocery store before she manages to come up with anything.
"Dad was also supposed to bring desert," Jazz mentions as she grabs a caddie and wheels it back to them.
"I made apple pie just in case," Alicia answers. Despite her dislike for him, she can admit that Jack Fenton is a generous man. However, as she has learned over the years, that generosity doesn't extend to fudge. Which is why she's got her famous apple pie ready to pop into the oven.
Danny nods relieved, as he files in behind his sister. The three of them are rolling past the frozen section when a familiar voice cuts through the store music.
"Alicia?"
At that, Alicia looks up to see the face of one and only Martha Kent. Her lips stretch into a smile unconsciously at the sight.
"Martha, hi," she answers as the other woman starts walking closer. "How are you?"
"I'm good," the other woman says as she stops in front of them. "Just doing some last-minute shopping." Then Martha looks to Danny and Jazz and gives them a smile. "And who might these two be?"
"This is Jazz and Danny," Alicia introduces them, "my niece and nephew. They're spending Thanksgiving up at the cabin with me."
"Oh, that's wonderful!" Martha says sincerely. "You left your sister and her husband in charge of the turkey, then?" She winks.
Alicia winces. "Ah, not exactly."
"They had a work emergency," Jazz says, unhappy.
Martha lets out a sympathetic oh.
"That's why we're here," Alicia explains. "They left with the turkey without realizing, so we'll have to settle for store-bought this year."
Martha makes a noise of sympathy before her face shifts into something more pensive. "You know," she starts. "I've got a big turkey at home and there's only going to be my son and me to eat it. If you guys would like, we'd love to have you over to help us with it."
"Oh we couldn't possibly-" Alicia starts to protest but Martha takes a step forward and takes her hands.
"You'd be doing us a favour," Martha says, her hands still into Alicia's as she looks up earnestly at the redhead. And damn it all because Alicia can feel a blush spreading on her cheeks at that.
"Alright," Alicia says, too flustered to argue.
Martha squeezes her hands once before letting go and Alicia can't help but miss the warmth of them. "Then it's settled."
"Alright," repeats Alicia. "We'll have to swing back home, though. I made pie."
"That's wonderful!" Martha's smile is radiant and it makes something in Alicia's chest warm.
She disguises it with a cough before speaking up. "Is six thirty too early for you?"
"It's perfect. We'll be waiting for you then," Martha says. "And for your sister and her husband too, if they manage to tear themselves away from work."
"That's not likely," mumbles Danny under his breath. Uncharacteristically, Jazz doesn't say anything about her brother's manners, only putting her own hand on his shoulder. Martha catches Alicia's eye and they exchange a look.
"Well, we'll be glad to have you three, anywho," Martha states firmly which gets her a hesitant smile from Jazz.
Alicia clears her throat. "We'd better get going if we want to be ready in time."
"Oh yes," Martha agrees. "I have to make sure the turkey's not burning." Then she winks, and for some reason, Alicia can feel that pesky blush coming back. It's made worse by the shrewd look Jazz gives her.
"See you soon!" says Martha as she leaves.
"Bye," Alicia answers back a little weakly. Then she looks down to the ground and sighs. When she straightens her head, she's immediately on guard as she catches her niece's smug look.
"What?" Alicia asks warily.
"Is Martha single?" Jazz asks, with a butter-wouldn't-melt-in-her-mouth face.
"Yeah," the older redhead answers slowly. "Why?"
"Just wanted to know," Jazz says innocently. And even Danny is looking at his sister suspiciously now. "since you've got a crush on her and all."
"I do no-I don't know what you're talking about!" Alicia protests though she feels her cheeks warming for the third time today.
And now Danny is starting to smirk too as he exchanges a look with his sister. "Oh," he starts as he looks towards Martha's disappearing figure. "This is going to be fun."

"Bring your kid to work" day
Tumblr media
synopsis: but sometimes it's very much unplanned.
pairing and characters: Zhongli x fem!reader, Xiao. Your family name is Rex-Lapis. Childe plays part in it too.
tw: modern AU, University AU, established relationship, fluff
word count: 2.8k+ words
a/n: Also a part of my University modern AU with history professor Zhongli
Tumblr media
The day started perfectly. Your older daughter was already at school with your permission to stay at her friend's house for a sleepover later, you had your day off, lounging in the living room with your son cuddling to you with his most favorite dragon shaped toy pressed between your bodies, listening to your husband walking around the bedroom, getting ready for the lectures at the University, being blessed with afternoon classes.
The day was perfect indeed. Until it absolutely isn't.
Sometimes you really want to kill your boss. It must be today that you are called to work to help with an emergency, that no one knows how to deal with except for you. And the fact that your boss does not consider any possibility of you having trouble with doing what's required, makes you fume harder.
"Li, I don't know what to do!" You cry in frustration, buttoning your shirt. "We can't find a babysitter in ten minutes! You have to go to work, I have to now too, we can't just ask Ganyu to cancel her plans, she's been waiting for this sleepover for weeks, and I can't take Xiao with me - by the sound of it I won't have a single moment to look after him."
It's been no longer than five minutes since you received that call, but you are already as stressed as after a week of non-stop work. Why must've the stars aligned this way!?
Your husband - bless his soul - is fully dressed and is holding your little son perched on his arm, supporting his back with a hand, watching your frantic movements with sympathy.
"I don't think I'll have many spare moments either, my love. Only breaks between lessons. Let me think," the man hums, leaning Xiao’s body more onto his shoulder and reaching for his phone with a free hand. The boy wraps arms around his neck, watching you brush your hair with a pout. The plan was to spend the whole day together with mama, watching cartoons, playing, maybe going for a walk or, ideally, taking a nap, finishing it all with making dinner and welcoming papa home. Now, it seems to him, all these plans are thrown out of the window.
However, Xiao was always a very perceptive and patient kid - he sensed somehow when the situation couldn’t be helped and him throwing a fit - not like he would - would only cause more trouble. That is why he is quietly waiting for what comes next.
And finally Zhongli finds a solution.
“I’m calling Ajax. He mostly spends time at the teacher’s lounge. As far as I know he really loves kids and has several younger siblings, he should be able to handle our son. And during breaks I’ll be taking over” “Oh,” as good as it all sounds, there is an instant hesitation in your mind. “‘Li, you sure you can ask him that? It’s a big deal after all…” “I know, dear, I know. That’s why I am calling him now in advance to make sure it’s alright,” your husband dials the number of his department’s secretary and puts the phone to the ear. “I don’t even mind paying him if he agrees.”
In reality you had nothing to worry about. The gingerhead was more than willing to watch your five-year old son. Maybe willing isn’t the right word even - the young man is excited.
Zhongli is lucky to arrive before the current class ends - the less attention is drawn, the better. He collected everything he could think of to occupy Xiao during his time at the lounge in a bag, which he passes to Ajax the moment his son and him are introduced. However while the secretary is wearing a wide and kind smile, the boy is glaring up at him from under the brown bangs, boring his strikingly golden eyes in the tall figure.
“Dad, I don’t like him,” the little boy pouts, hugging his plushie even tighter and throwing daggers at the gingerhead from behind the dragon’s mane.
“Ouch, little guy,” with a dramatic gasp, the young man clutches the shirt on his chest and presses the back of his hand to the forehead. “How will I live? Hated by Mr Rex-Lapis’ son…”
“Now, now, Xiao,” Zhongli gently pats his head, bending down to look into his eyes and finding displeasure there. “It’s only for today, baby. Me and mom are really sorry for not spending time with you today. I promise that soon I’ll be home for two whole weeks.”
To that the boy’s eyes widen.
“Two weeks… That’s fourteen days?”
“That’s right, sweety.”
“That’s a lot!” He jumps, elated by the news, no trace of dissatisfaction written over his cute smiling face.
“Haha, it is, dear.”
“Wow, Mr Rex-Lapis, your son is really smart!” The secretary stopped playing hurt, instead clapping his hands together in praise and nodding his head in approval. “How old is he?”
“He is five. Yes, he learns really fast.”
“No wonder, he has you and your wife as parents.”
The remaining 20 minutes before his first lecture Zhongli spends in attempts to make his son comfortable not only around Ajax, but also at the new place as well. All that time Xiao doesn’t let go of his ever-present companion - a toy dragon, which he is hugging close to his chest. He politely greets every professor that comes to the lounge, which makes the secretary’s jaw drop since he is the only one who’s been initially rejected and, Zhongli can swear, he saw his boy smirking in the toy’s fluffy mane.
Other professors can’t help but mention how much the son resembles the father, even making small talk with the boy, whom they’ve only heard about before or seen in the framed picture of your family on Zhongli’s desk. By how polite (sorry, Ajax) and shyly sweet he is Xiao quickly becomes everyone’s favorite, pockets currently full with all kinds of treats.
When it’s time to go, the man kisses Xiao’s forehead goodbye, promising to be back in an hour and a half for a break, and grabs the materials. Once he leaves alongside his colleagues, Xiao sighs and, ignoring his temporary caretaker, moves to the bag his dad left, starting to dig out all the candies to put them into its side pocket.
“Whatcha doin’, little guy?” The young man is at his side in two long strides, curiously watching the boy’s actions. Xiao gives him a side eye, before deeming the question plausible and turning back to his task.
“I don’t want them right now. I’ll bring them home and share with mom and dad.”
“I am sure they’ll like that,” Ajax hums, busying himself with the contents of the main section. “Oh, would you look at that! It seems that your dad packed some coloring books, toys and… oh, puzzles! You like puzzles?”
The boy quietly nods. Tiptoeing, he tries to see the two boxes his temporary caretaker is holding, and the young man immediately crouches down to let him look.
“This one is new,” Xiao finally points to the box in his left hand. Ocean blue eyes skim over the picture of a phoenix, drawn in a simple yet elegant style. Yes, that definitely looks like something Mr Rex-Lapis would’ve bought for his child’s entertainment.
“Alright, let's get you behind your dad's desk,” golden eyes sparkle and a glimpse of wonder appears on the boy’s face. Dad showed him his own space at the lounge; it's tidy and organized, with all the necessities sorted inside the drawers and some notes and pictures pinned to the corkboard on the wall to the left. He wants to see them closer!
His caretaker drags the chair back, but climbing on it Xiao performs himself. As Ajax is humming something while tearing off the tape on the puzzle box, the boy turns to look at the photos Mr Rex-Lapis has on display. It’s so funny, really - not so long ago this little fella’s father was an image of reserve to students, no one knew who his wife was or the fact he had two kids. The secretary remembers how just half a year ago he used to be among those only ones who knew of the professor’s secret (which, in reality, wasn’t a secret at all). Why hasn't he ever spilled any info to the students who adore him?
Well, what fun would’ve been in it?
“Is that your big sister?” Xiao quickly glances up, taking notice of how the tall (but not as tall as dad) man hovers over where he is sitting and points at one of the pictures. The boy looks at it again.
“...yes. It’s Ganyu.”
“I have a sister too,” the fond expression on that freckle-covered face and a seemingly lightened color of those ocean-blue eyes disarms the five-year old a little. He blinks, waiting for what more he can tell. “Not one actually. Oh, and I have brothers too. One is your age, by the way!”
“Doesn’t it get too… loud?” Small hands reach for the carton box, lifting the lid.
“It does, in a good way though. But when our two huskies join in on the fun… Let’s just say it’s a good thing we have our own house.”
“You have dogs? That’s so cool! I want to have a pet too,” Xiao unceremoniously empties the contents onto the table, yet carefully places the lid with the picture against the monitor of the computer. “Mom promised that when I get older, they’ll buy me a bird.”
“Oh? You love those?”
“Mhm… Maybe we’ll buy something as pretty as…” he pauses, looking at the fiery bird. Ajax quickly realizes the struggle.
“A fo-nuhks,” Xiao prompts.
“Yeah… A fee-niks.”
As the minutes tick by, the boy’s initial hostility seems to evaporate. He still doesn’t talk unnecessarily much, but he does talk to Ajax, so that's progress. He is quite quick to finish the puzzles, and his temporary caretaker makes sure to praise the child. They talk a bit more about their respective families, Xiao even introduces him to his dragon companion. And the gingerhead picks the small fox-shaped keychain his elder sister knitted for him to play toy pals.
For another half an hour it manages to entertain the boy, but as the end of the class is nearing, he grows more and more distracted, glancing either at the door or the clock hanging high on the wall. It’s not hard to guess he is missing his father and is anticipating his return, but both Zhongli and Ajax can do nothing to just speed the time.
What professor can do though, is excusing his class ten minutes earlier, quite happy they got to get through all the material he prepared for this lecture. Bidding the students goodbye, he locks the door of the auditorium with his suitcase inside and puts the key in the pocket of his fancy vest to come back in twenty minutes.
When Zhongli enters the teacher’s lounge, he finds the secretary showing his son something on his own laptop. However, once Xiao’s eyes spot his dad’s figure in the doorframe, the little guy is down from his chair and running all the way to the man.
“Dad!” Mr Rex-Lapis barely has time to close the door and scoot down to catch his son, who nearly bumps into his legs, threatening the man’s balance. Finally in his arms, with his own tiny ones tightly wrapped around strong neck, the carbon copy of Zhongli happily smiles and Ajax has to rub his eyes to make sure he is not hallucinating. Wow, this boy can smile like that (sorry, my guy, you are just not his favorite, though now tolerable at least).
“Hello, Xiao,” Zhongli plants an affectionate kiss on his son’s cheek. “I see you’ve missed me,” the words are answered with eager nods. “Did you have fun with Ajax?” At least some of it.
The gingerhead lifts his eyebrow when the boy looks back at him, holds the gaze of ocean blue eyes for a moment, and then turns to his father once more.
“I suppose.”
The older man has to clear his throat with a polite cough so as not to break into a smile at the image of the assistant's slack jaw.
“That’s good, my dear.”
“Are we coming home now?” His son wonders, fingers playing with the longer locks of dark brown. Unfortunately, the answer is a dejected sigh.
“I am afraid we are not yet, sweety. But mommy texted me recently that she’ll be able to come get you after my second lecture. And then I’ll have one more.”
At the promise of you soon arriving to take him home, Xiao’s just building pout quickly disappeared. It’s okay, he can wait for a little bit longer. And that fox-like man isn’t bad, his company is quite nice. He even showed him some pictures of his family - almost all of them are ginger. Oh, and he promised to download some simple games onto his dad’s computer so he could play. And he still has his coloring books back there and he believes he saw you packing a small book - there is plenty to entertain him with.
Only for all these thoughts and motivation to be shuttered when someone knocked on the door and a second later some student’s head pushed through the gap. None of the three people currently present in the room could’ve anticipated what a black hole is about to be opened.
“Good afternoon, is Mr Rex-La- Oh, professor, you are here! We were wondering if we could take the key to leave our bags inside? As always? Oh, hey kiddo- Wait, a kid???”
“Dad, who is it?”
“DAD!?”
Before anyone could do anything, loud gasps break their way into the lounge. It appeared that almost the whole group was standing in the hall and heard everything crystally clear. Of course students are curious. Of course, they know about professor Rex-Lapis’ kid - the news and that cute picture from an online lecture were still the talk of the whole faculty just a couple of months ago. Of course, they want to see those sweet cheeks for crying out loud!
Ajax is the one who has to get everyone who does not belong in the room out and calm them all down as more than a dozen youngsters beg and plead with Zhongli to bring his baby boy to the lecture. And the said baby boy doesn’t help the situation either, looking at his father with those striking eyes, silently asking to stay with him. “I’m gonna sit very-very quiet,” he even promises.
Is it really a surprise that Xiao ends up sitting at his dad’s desk with his coloring books while the man is reading a lecture? (Students almost crumbled when their tall, handsome, enigmatic history professor walked into the auditorium with his son’s tiny hand clasped in his? Look, he even had to bend his body a little to do so!)
And, as much as students want to gush all over their favorite professor’s small-sized carbon copy, they keep their best behavior, because the situation gives the “once in a century” vibes and they’d be damned to destroy the magic of the moment.
Well, maybe a little, because the smallest interactions between Zhongli and his son as the man lets his students finish writing down information from the current slide are mind-blowing. Groupchat-blowing too.
Even cuter the whole occurrence becomes when the boy stops drawing and lifts his head, curious of what his dad is speaking about. He turns slightly in order to see the presentation, golden eyes skimming over the pictures and words, though he does not understand most of it. But it’s alright though - he can listen to his father instead.
Zhongli is pleasantly surprised when no one can answer one of his revision questions and Xiao lifts his hand, giving him the answer he wanted (he misspells the word a little, sure, but he knew the right response nonetheless). Aaaand that’s probably when the students finally lose it.
By the time the lesson is over and Zhongli meets with you in the teacher’s lounge to pass your very happy and very proud son to you so you two could be on your merry way home, the man feels a little drained. Nothing that can’t be fixed by your tender cheek kiss and soft rubbing on his back, but he still exhales heavily and swears that when he comes home, you are in for a new story.
And by what Ajax had time to tell while you’ve been waiting, you're sure it’s going to be a hilarious one.

"y/n what–how? Do you know who the dad is?" Your friend asks in disbelief with a mix of shock and sympathy.
You bite your lower lip and stare back at her, it wasn't easy to just go and say "Oh yeah did I mention the baby daddy is your father? We may or may not have hooked up MANY times." You couldn't possibly ever tell her, this was something you'd take to the grave.
"I do.." You softly begin, fiddling with the hem of your skirt with obvious nervousness, "It just happened okay? I wasn't being careful with my birth control and I was late but by then. I think when I realized, I was already pregnant."
She lets out a deep sigh, oh no, your heart begins to race as you stare at her in desperation. You want her to say something, anything at this point. The thought of disappointing her like your parents doesn't sit right in your stomach.
"I'm not going to judge you." She finally says, "I'm here for you, whatever the hell happened with the guy isn't going to stop me from supporting you." She cracks a tiny smile and reaches for your hand, "I always wanted to be a auntie."
You smile back in relief, "Thank you." You softly say and snuggle close, "You're the best."
"Hey, that doesn't mean you're off the hook. Who is this guy anyways?" She grins, "You didn't tell me anything about no boy," she wags her finger in your face which causes you to giggle, "I didn't know you were getting busy like that." She winks.
You grow hot in embarrassment and hide your face, "It's a long story..."
+
You don't know when or how your small puppy crush on Jungkook started. When your friend mentioned why she didn't like inviting her friends over for dinner, you were a bit taken back by her words.
"I'm serious y/n," she said, "I don't like bringing anyone cause of my dad, they always act so fucking weird about it too. But I know you're not like that."
Those words sting a bit. You aren't so sure what she means exactly but you decide to let it go and just find out for yourself why she has so much faith in you going over. Then it hits you. Her dad is literally sex on legs. You grow embarrassed at your reluctance to make eye contact with the older man.
From there on you get more familiar with the man. He asks you about your day and actually looks interested in holding a conversation about your hobbies and interests. You've never had someone who was so invested in you like he was.
You wonder why he was so interested. You were a simple person, always so shy and bashful with others. Maybe that's why your friend protected you the way she did.. Cause in everyone else's eyes you were a baby. A sweet, sweet pretty baby. Too sweet for your own good.
You were somewhat of a prude, always covering up and never showing off "the goods god gave you" as your friend put it. What could Jungkook possibly ever see in you? You ask yourself that a lot.
The dealbreaker happens when your friend insists on you going to the club with her. She dresses you in a simple yet sexy bodycon dress that fits like a glove. It ends right above your knees, mid-thigh (which is something you have never worn because to you it was scandalous), and a pair of black heels.
"Dad we're heading out now!" She yells, hurrying down the steps with her own heels in hand, "Be back in a few hours!"
You timidly follow her, a hand on your chest as you take slow steps constantly tugging the hem of the dress down because you think you're too exposed. She even put makeup on you! Not that you don't wear it already, you just tend to go for simple looks.. not this fiery red lipstick (you admit you look amazing though).
"Careful, be sure to keep an eye out for each other and don't go with strangers." Jungkook turns around the corner of the hall and stands at the front door.
Your friend says something back but all you can really focus on is the way Jungkook's eyes slowly drift to you. They widen slightly in shock but he recovers quickly, gaze drifting over your whole body from head to toe.
"Dad are you even listening?" Your friend huffs in annoyance as she bumps her shoulder with him.
Jungkook forces himself to look away, "Yeah.. uh have fun okay? Be safe the two of you." He nods and lets you both pass. "y/n," he stops you right when you're stepping out from beside him, "you look beautiful." He smiles and lets you go with a nod.
The entire time you're at the club all you can really think about is the way Jungkook looked at you with hunger and lust in his eyes. He was basically eyeing you like a piece of meat the entire time. You even forgot you were in the club for a moment, letting your friend bring you to the bar for drinks and to the dancefloor.
It's about three in the morning when you and your friend head back to her place. She's drunkly stumbling around and giggling as she tries to be quiet. "Shhh... don't want my old man waking up." She giggles, not exactly being quiet either.
You're only tipsy, swaying occasionally as you balance yourself against the porch. "Mmm I'm so tired." You mumble out and step out of the heels.
"I got it!" She squeals in excitement and opens the door, "I'm homeeee...!" So much for being discreet..
You stumble in after her and watch as she drunkly makes her way to her bedroom, "See you there..." She slurs out and disappears upstairs.
"See you.." You softly reply and head into the kitchen for a glass of water. The house is eerily quiet, you make quick work of filling a glass up with water. You hum softly and tentatively take sips from the glass, enjoying how the cool liquid feels going down your throat.
"Had fun?" Jungkook suddenly speaks, interrupting the silence in the room.
You jump a little and turn around to look at him, gulping the water in your mouth as you wipe your lips. "Y-Yeah." You say softly, averting your gaze because your drunk fueled mind plays images of earlier when he was checking you out. He looks so handsome in a white tee and low hanging sweats with a very obvious bulge in his pants.
He chuckles quietly, toying with his lip ring as he nods, "Looks like it," he pushes himself off the doorway and steps into the kitchen, nearly crowding you against the counter as he opens the fridge and pops a beer open, "bet you had all the boys after you." He's looking at you with those dark eyes again.
"Sorry..?" You refuse to believe he just said those words to you. This type of conversation was headed in a very much inappropriate direction. "I don't understand what you mean."
"What I said," he calmly sets the beer down and leans against the counter, trapping you against it as he stares down at you, "I refuse to believe no one wanted a pretty thing like you in their bed tonight." He lowly says, reaching up to play with a curl that was over your shoulder.
You look down at his hand and then look back up at him, "Mr Jeon," you start but he interrupts you with a low 'Jungkook' as his fingers toy with the strap of your dress, slipping it down your arm slowly. "J-Jungkook.." You whisper and take a step back.
Jungkook crowds you against the sink and sets both hands on either side of you, licking his lips as he stares down at you and releases a quiet chuckle, "Such a pretty girl," he murmurs, "almost didn't wanna let you leave the house looking like that. All dolled up... you could make a grown man cry sweetheart." He smirks.
You're unsure on what to say, you stare up at him shyly and soak in his praises and pet names. "Hani's sleeping upstairs.." You whisper and turn your head to the side, trying to move past him, "She could wake up any minute."
"She's a heavy sleeper." Jungkook replies simply before hell breaks loose.
He grabs you by your face and gently holds it as he presses his lips to yours. You make a noise of surprise and reach up to hold on to his arm. You lack the experience he has as he kisses you like no tomorrow. His lips move over yours smoothly, he rubs his thumb alongside your face as he presses you into the counter with his hips.
Jungkook's other hand slides up your side, rubbing it idly before he creeps his hand downwards and grabs on to your thigh. You whimper softly into the kiss and raise your leg, you hook your thigh around his waist as you timidly reach up to grip the back of his neck with both hands.
"That's it sweetheart, doin' so well for me." He whispers amidst the kisses and quiet little moans you let out here and there. "Be a good girl and stay quiet for me yeah..?" He softly murmurs and taps your other thigh, signaling that he wants you to jump, "Gonna treat you real nice sweetheart."
And with that your relationship with your bestfriend's dad begins.
+
Hani knows your relationship with your parents isn't the best, they practically ignore you and only provide the necessary: a roof over your head, clothes and food. You lack that parental affection and unconditional love. It results in your obvious desire for attention and validation.
So she invites you to move in with her and Jungkook. She says something about the guest bedroom never being used and that Jungkook wouldn't mind having you stay over because in her words he "sees you as his daughter". You're guilt ridden because if only she knew.
Moving in with them opens a whole new door to your relationship with Jungkook. You always fuck when Hani leaves for her shift or for a late tutoring session she has. He couldn't keep his hands off you nor his pants on. You were surprised that Hani hasn't walked in at this rate, you doubt she'd be very happy to see her father fucking her friend.
Today was no different,  as soon as Hani had left the house for a shift she was covering Jungkook was on you. You laid flat on your back in the living room, leg thrown over his shoulder with your panties dangling around your ankle. Soft moans and meek whimpers escaped your lips as his cock rubbed up against every nook and cranny inside of your pussy. You felt stuffed, your pussy lewdly squelched with each thrust as his cock slid in and out.
Jungkook was hunched over you, quiet grunts and growls leaving him. "Fuck sweetheart, you're so fucking wet for me. Gonna make a mess on my cock baby? You gonna be a good girl and cream for me?" He whispers harshly against your lips as he rocks up into you roughly.
You're jolted a little from his thrust, lips parting as lewd little "uh's" escaped your lips. You weakly nod and dig your perfectly manicured nails into his back, toes curling from the hot pleasure you're feeling. "J-Jungkook.." You weakly stammer out, your breath hitches when his cock hits something inside of you. "Mmph," you lean your head back, "r-right there."
Jungkook licks his lips and starts thrusting into that particular spot, "Yeah?" He breathes out as he rolls his hips faster and faster, "Such a dirty girl.. baby likes getting fucked by older men doesn't she? Basically a slut for it, letting your bestfriend's dad fuck you like this," he cruelly whispers against your lips, "you gonna let me cum in your pussy baby?" He purrs.
A loud moan escapes your lips as you buck your hips, "Y-Yes!" You whimper, "I'm your dirty girl," you mewl, "only yours... d-daddy." You hesitantly say.
Jungkook growls softly and sucks a dark hickey under your jaw, "That's right, only mine baby." He pins you down and begins jackhammering into your cunt.
You loudly cry out and bring your hand down to grip his back, loud pleas for more and his name leave your lips. Jungkook's groans rise in volume as he works his hips back and forth, cock sliding in and out of your pussy. His free hand comes down to rub circles into your clit with his thumb, occasionally he flicks the bud side to side. He perfectly aims his hips to bury his cock up against your g-spot.
The two pleasures all at once has you shaking and crying out. Your pussy leaks sloppily all over his cock and the mess begins sliding down your ass crack and on to the couch. His balls slap loudly against your ass with each deep press of his hips. Your skin slaps together and the crouch begins creaking in protest from the weight being added.
"Jungkook!" You wail in pleasure and dig your nails into his back, "I'm gonna c-cum..!" You whimper and shut your eyes tightly.
Jungkook goes faster at this, determined to get you to cum on his cock. "Go on baby, been such a good girl for me. Cum for Daddy." He purrs softly.
With that you unravel under him. Your thighs weakly shake and little choked sobs escape your lips. Your cunt tightens around him and pulses weakly as spurts of your slick covers his cock. Jungkook slows down and grinds deeply into your pussy, he helps you ride out your orgasm. It only takes a few more minutes for his moans to stutter and his cock to throb.
His cum leaks from the side's of his cock, you feel it add to the creamy mess down below. You untangle your arms and lie there bonelessly, panting softly. Jungkook rumbles in satisfaction, he licks his lips and slowly pulls out watching as his cum trickles out. "Fuck you look so good baby."
You smile shyly and bite your lip as you stare up at him, "I think we need a shower." You say innocently enough but Jungkook knows what you mean.
He grins softly, "We do don't we?"
Neither of you mention the stain on the couch, and if anyone mentions it, you spilled your ramen broth.

the way you write the relationships the batfam have with each other is so delicious to me like AUGHH YOUR BRAIN!!! it’s so good. if you were willing, i'd love to hear more of your thoughts on the relationship cass and jason have / steph and jason (staring at you with my big wet eyes)
i havent read much from any of the characters and have seen large parts of fandom say that they would all get along/they’d be so close/besties, so the ideas i’ve read in your works (wolf king and persephone) are very interesting!!
to put it bluntly — i think they’d fucking hate him.
part of that is, weirdly, people tend to devalue tim’s relationships with steph and cass. like, steph and tim have never been normal about each other. cass and tim spent most of the nineties and early aughts jumping back and forth to each other’s comics. in what world would either of them be chill with the guy who hurt him (and damian) like that?
it also flattens cass’s ideology and steph’s history with bruce’s mission. cass has struggled with engaging with murderers because she’s sees them as herself, and their actions as her own actions. she is reflected in each of them, but she ultimately values life above all else which is why her personal connection to the bat is so interesting. she would not have sympathy or time for jason todd, someone who uses bruce’s mission to hurt others, to take lives, and attack the people she loves. like…. please be serious. she would not be hanging out w the person who was happy when bludhaven got nuked.
same deal with steph— something that really annoys me is when people act as though the “bad robin club” would be a bonding moment between steph and jason. not just because steph has a more developed comic run than jason has, with legitimate obstacles to her getting recognised as a hero, but also because again, this guy is doing the same shit as her dad. why would she like him after he went after tim multiple times? whenever someone draws this comparison i think of this page —
Tumblr media
the fact that steph values bruce’s mission, his views on taking a life, despite being at such a profound low point is really important. i can’t believe she’d look at jason and think him admirable.
however!!!! that doesn’t mean their interactions (when reasonably in character imo) can’t be interesting!! having cass and jason interact in persephone was a lot of fun, because making him interact with someone other than bruce or dick puts him off balance. peoples fear of complex relationships with legitimate stakes makes me sad. neither cass or steph have that history with him before death, or that same image of him as a memorial, and it’s a fun thing to explore. specifically this passage from wolf-king —
Tumblr media
like yeah!! neither of them would fuck with him!!! let him be the unpopular brother!!

The Quiet Kid
Tumblr media
[pairings]: Tara Carpenter x Reed!Fem!Reader
[Summary]: Your love for Tara has to be put aside due to a certain black cloaked, masked killer returning into your life.
[warnings]: Swearing, mentions of murder, stabbing.
A/N: Idk if i should post a part 2 of this so , we'll see.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You were in the kitchen talking to Mindy after they came home from the party. She was talking about how Tara almost hooked up with an asshole. You sighed in both relief and disappointment as she mentioned  Chad saving Tara.  After she finished, Anika walked inside the kitchen and wnt over to Mindy, kissing her. You smiled at the couple and decided to make your way over to Tara’s room to check on her. You were nearly there when you heard Quinn say, “Did i cock-block you? “
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What did you just say? “ You heard Tara say. You stepped closer to the room, but Quinn still hasn’t noticed you. “ I cock-blocked you. “
Suddenly, you heard another voice, “No “Your heart dropped to the pit of your stomach as you recognized the voice to be Chad’s.
It seemed like Quinn would just not quit it. “ I cock-blocked you, didn't i?”
“Immediate no” Tara says with a little disgust in her voice.
“Please, stop saying the word ‘cock’ “ Chad whined and laughed as he looked at Quinn. “What did you need? “ Tara has had enough of her roommate.
“My phone “
“ Don’t ever enter the room like that again. “ Tara demanded of Quinn.
“I won’t “
“I’m gonna go. But get some rest, get sober and please don’t kill your sister, okay? She loves you very much.” There was a beat of silence when you saw the shadow of Chad heading out. “ Good night! “ Your eyes lowered to the floor in realization of the situation as Chad walked out of the room. As soon as he saw you, he averted his gaze and quickly walked past you.
Soon Quinn backed out of the room too. She looked at you when she realized you were standing just about outside of the room, leaning against the wall. She gave you a look of  sympathy and walked past you. About everybody knew about your crush on the younger Carpenter. But you couldn’t really blame them for choosing Chad as the better partner for Tara. He was strong and fun, kind and charming. Also you just about moved in with them the same time as Quinn, it was no surprise that they didn’t really trust you.
You swallowed hard and finally pushed your body off of the wall and decided to walk past her room to get to your own. As you did so, you felt yourself stop in your tracks as you saw Tara smiling like an idiot while laying on her bed. For a moment a small smile appeared on your face too, but soon you remembered that the reason for that is probably Chad. Shaking your head, you walked over to your room and went inside., immediately feeling  a wave of comfort wash over you as you sit down in the armchair in the corner of the room beside a little bookshelf.  Picking out the book you are currently reading, you leaned back and pulled your headphones up to your ears from around your neck, relaxing.
After about 30 minutes or so, you hear shouting from the living room. You put your book down and walked out of the room. You glance at the Tv and gasp. That's When you notice Tara and Sam shouting at each other
“ It’s a big city! “ Tara exclaimed “ It’s halloween! Everybody is wearing masks! “
You see Sam shaking her head. “ Tara! Tara, this isn’t a coincidence! “ Tara huffs and looks at her sister with almost pleading eyes. “You knew him! “
“Barely “ She shook her head as she looked at you guys standing in the living room, watching them.
“ Chad, Mindy back me up. “ Chad is to speak first “well, it is a little bit.. “ He trails off. “ Close to home “Mindy finishes for him. “ See? “ Sam turns back to Tara, waiting for her response.
She scoffed and shook her head, looking behind her at Quinn. “ Quinn, your dad’s a cop, right? “ Quinn glances up at Tara from the ground “  Can you call him and find out what’s going on? “  Tara steps back and looks at Sam. “ Before you make the unilateral decision to abandon my college education and flee the fucking state!”
“ I’m calling him now, “ Says Quinn as she puts the phone up to her ear. You shut your eyes close in exhaustion, taking your hands and running them down your face while groaning into them. You all suddenly hear a phone ringing. You take your hands off your face immediately to look whose it is. Sam started walking towards her phone slowly, and your body tensed up-as did the others’ too- as you put your hands down at your sides, clenching them.
“Who is it? “ Sam didn’t answer her sister’s question, just declined the call and put her phone back down.
“Why did everyone just freak out when her phone rang? “ Ethan asked, completely clueless.
Anika looks at him and sighs “ You gotta keep up, my dude. “ She shakes her head.
Suddenly Quinn spoke up. “Sam “ She gets up and walks over to Sam. “ My dad wants to talk to you. “ Sam takes the phone and puts it up to her ear.
You shake your head and start heading towards the door, but Mindy speaks up. “ Hey, where are you going?” Almost everyone's attention is turned to you as you stand at the door, holding the handle.
“I-I was just…going for a walk. “ You curse at yourself for not having a better excuse.
“Oh hell nah, Y/N. You’ll either get attacked or….you are ghostface. “ You scoff at her and look at the floor. “ …..I’m one of the last people to be ghostface. I can assure you, Mindy. “ With that, you unlock the door and swing it open, walking out of the apartment.
You are walking aimlessly around the city with your headphones on, humming softly as the chilly october breeze. Suddenly, your music stops and you frown, taking out your phone. When you do, you see a caller ID that says, unknown. You swallow hard and clench your jaw, tapping on the accept call option as you put the phone up to your ear.
A raspy voice that you know all too well started laughing into your ear. You gritted your teeth . “ Well, well ,well. If it’s not Y/n, the big miracle. “
“ What do you want? “
“Oh, nothing, just y’know…….to, uh, “ He chuckles and takes a deep breath. And a shiver ran down your spine at the sound “ Gut you “
You stop walking, completely frozen. “ W-what? “ You look around in a hurry. “I mean, you could be the first legacy character that I killed. Why would you want to leave out on that? It is utterly unfair, that you’re alive and still noone gives a fuck, Y/n “
You had enough and hung up, starting to run. Suddenly strong arms grasp at your body. “ Oh, are you trying to get away from  me? Sweet little thing, it’s over. “ He laughed and swung his knife back. Within seconds, the knife was plugged into your side as you let out a gut wrenching scream.
You are successful at prying his strong arms off from around your body, once again starting to run. You hear the sounds of the heavy pair of boots behind you, you ran for what felt like hours until you got somewhere more public where there were a lot of people. When you stop, you look behind you, your body relaxing when you can’t see him anymore. You put your hand on your wound and press on it, wincing in pain. Breathing heavily, you notice a bench and sit down on it.
A couple of hours later the sun has set when your phone rings. Your body tenses as your shaking, bloody hands pick up your phone. The bleeding stopped a few hours ago, as you decided not to go anywhere near a doctor. “ H-hello? “
“Y/n “ You gasp as you recognize the voice, sitting up. “ Oh my god, Kirby? “
She chuckles on the other end of the line, “ Yeah, it’s good to hear your voice, lil’ sis. “
You smile weakly. “ Yours too. So what’s up? “
“Uh, I'm at the police station with your friends. I would like you to come here. “ Your eyebrows furrow in both concern and confusion. “ O-Okay. Yeah, i’m like, 10 minutes away. “
“ wonderful. See you then “ With that, she hung up.
After about 10 minutes you arrived at the police station. You walked through the ocean of reporters and into the building. In the hallway, you saw Sam, Tara, Kirby and Detective Bailey. You walk up to them. “ Hey, what’s…..going on? “
Tara and Sam looked at you surprised. “ Y/n “ You nod in their direction then look at Kirby who smiles at you and goes to hug you, but immediately notices the dried blood on your shirt and hands. “OH my god, Y/N! What the fuck happened to you? “
Tara was quickly by your side to check your wound while you pursed your lips at Kirby. You let out a breath of air. “ I…was, uh, attacked. Last night. “ Tara looked into your eyes but was fast to look away to check for other wounds. “ A-and you didn’t go to the hospital? “ You shrug and turn back to Kirby.
“ What is it you want me here for? “
“ Well, first of all to say hi. And second of all, I thought i would inform you about some things.  “ She looked down at the ghostface mask in her hands.
After you were done speaking to Kirby, you, Tara and Sam walked out of the building, being welcomed by a dozen reporters. Sam wraps an arm around Tara in order to keep her close. You reach your hand out for Tara to take. As soon as she does, you give it a slight squeeze. When you are out of the crowd, you suddenly hear and all too familiar voice behind you.
“ Gale Weathers, channel 4 “
You guys turned around and looked back at Gale. “ Do you girls think you are the reason the ghostface killer has come to the Big Apple? “ Sam scoffed at her and started shaking her head. You took a step back when she swung her arm back to throw a punch at Gale, Unsuccessfully.
Gale chuckles. “ Nice try, sweetie. But I've done this dance before- “ She was cut off by Tara, as she punched her in the face. Your eyes widened and you looked at Tara, smirking.
Hot
“ Stay away from us. “ Although you did enjoy seeing Tara punch someone, Gale was your friend. So you looked at her to see if she was okay, to which she gave you a nod. You went to catch up with Tara and Sam but Gale came after you guys and looked at the Carpenter sisters in disbelief.
“ Are you still mad at me? “ You raised your eyebrows in curiosity.
Sam turned back around, mad. “ You said you wouldn’t write a book about what happened ! “ She exclaimed. “ And then you wrote a book about what happened.
Gale rolled her eyes, scoffing .” Oh, come on. Somebody was gonna write about it! “ She pauses. “ It’s what I do!  “
“ I heard you couldn’t sell the movie rights “ Tara raised her eyebrows at her. You looked at her, simply admiring.
Gale stumbled over her own words. “ I-It’s all about true-crime limited series these days. “
“ After everything we went through together “ Sam paused. “ What would Dewey think. “ Your jaw clenched at the mention of the man that you had adored dearly even when he wasn’t with you. You pushed Sam in the shoulder lightly and glared at her. She looked at you, confused but then glanced back at the woman in-front of her.
Gale looks at her and after a minute of silence, she speaks up. “ That’s a low blow “
“So was your book. “ Sam spat out bitterly.  “ You called me unstable and a born killer ! “ Gale raised her shoulders. “ That’s..taken out of context. “
“That’s literally a quote. “
“ You don’t think what you wrote has something to do with what's happening to us.? “ Tara asked her angrily. Your eyes traveled back and forth between the three women, watching with curiosity as the fight elaborated. “ Come on “
You guys started walking towards the taxi. But Gale once again spoke up behind you. “ Hey, I talked to Sidney ! “You stopped in your tracks and turned around.
“She’s not coming here is she? “
Gale shakes her head. “ No …..She sends her love, but she’s taking Mark and the kids someplace safe. She deserves to have her happy ending.”
“On that much, we agree “ Sam says then opens the door to the taxi and gets in, you after her. “ Hey, i wanna catch this fucker as much as you do. “ You heard Gale say.
Tara stops and looks at her. “ Maybe. Or maybe you’re just afraid that without ghostface in your life, you’re gonna fade away. “  She gets in and the taxi drives away.
You look between them “ Soo uh, how are you all doing? “ They both glare at you and then both continue to stare out the window. Until Sam spoke up.
“ Wait, so how do you know Kirby and Gale? “
“Well, it’s a really funny story, uhm “ They both look at you as you swallow and look at the floor. “ So, Kirby’s actually my sister and Iknow Gale because I met her at woodsboro not long before I was in the 2011 woodsboro killings. I was 8 “
They both stare at you, speechless. And for the rest of the ride you sat in awkward silence.
Late on, you are all sitting on benches around campus as Mindy is again, explaining the rules. “ As terrifying as this all is, I'm actually glad I got a chance to redeem myself for not calling the killers last time. “ She adjusts her sweater.
You all look at her waiting for her to continue. “ It’s fine. Okay. “ She sighs. "The way I see it, someone is out to make a sequel to the requel. “
Anika puts her hand up “ Uh, what’s a requel? “
Mindy looks at her girlfriend” You’re beautiful sweetie. Let’s hold the questions for the ned” Anika smiles at her. Sam spoke up. “ Stab 1 took place in woodsboro. Stab 2 took place  in college. “
Tara looks at her sister then at Mindy. “ So we think that the killer is trying to copy the movies? “ Mindy nods at her. “ That is one possibility.  “  You nod along as you try to listen. “ Heroes now in college: check. Suspicious new characters brought in to round out the suspect list and/or body count: check, check and check. “
Ethan’s trembling voice spoke up. “ I don’t like this. “ He shakes his head. Mindy retreacts. “ But it can’t just be about Stab 2. “
Tar’s eyebrows furrow at  her friend's statement. “ Why not? “
“It would make sense, if this were just a sequel. But we are not in a sequel, because nobody just makes sequels anymore” She throws her arms around. There is a short pause before she throws her arms up .” We are in a franchise !” “ She looked at each of your directions. “ And there are certain rules to a continuing franchise”
Everybody sighs as Sam says. “ I had a feeling “
“ Rule one: Everything is bigger than the last time “ She spreads her arms while looking at you guys. You put your clammy hands on your face in  exhaustion, letting out a sigh into them. “ Bigger budget, bigger cast, bigger body count. Longer chases, shoot-outs, beheadings. You got to top what came before to keep people coming back. “
Chad looks up from his notebook. “ Beheadings? “ He points his pencil at Mindy, who nods at him. “ Beheadings.  Rule two: whatever happened the last time, expect the opposite. Franchises only survive by subverting expectations. If the killers last time were whiny snowflake, film nerds with Letterboxd accounts instead of  personalities, you can bet the opposite will be tre here. “ Sam sighs as she processes the information.
“ And rule three:  No one is safe. Legacy characters?  Cannon fodder at this point” Tara looks at you, fidgeting with your rings as you listen to Mindy.  “ Usually brought back only to be killed off in some cheap bid for nostalgia “ You clenched your jaw. “ It’s not looking too good for Gale and Kirby. “ Her voice softens at the end of her sentence as she looks at Sam.
“ Oh, and that’s not even the worst part! “
“Ah, this is the part where she tells us the worst part “ Chad says, still looking at his notes.
“ The worst part is, franchises are just continuing episodic installments designed to boost an IP. Which means, main characters are completely expendable now, too.” You all looked at her, waiting for her to continue. “ Laurie Strode, Nancy Thompson, Ellen Ripely, SallyHardesty, Jigsaw, Tony Stark, James bond—I mean, even Luke Skywalker all died so their franchises could live on.That means it’s not just the friend group. Any of us could go at anytime, especially Sam and Tara” Mindy looks at you all sadly.
You sit up straighter and put your shaking hands on your knees. “ W-wait, any of us? “ Ethan asks. “ Yeah. “
“This- am i in the friend group? “
 “yeah “
“ Am i like one of the targets? “
“Mm-hmm “
He looks at the ground then back up at Mindy in disbelief. “ Am i gonna die a virgin? “  You all looked at each other in confusion.
“ That was a weird overshare. But it brings us to our current suspects: Ethan “ Mindy steps closer to him, smiling. “ The shy dorky guy, who no on suspects because he’s so shy and dorky.”
“Okay. Wait, why am I on the suspect list? Because I'm randomly Chad’s roommate? “ He points at his roommate.
“ Roommate lotteries can be juked. You could have fixed it to get next to us. “ She leans closer to him, but quickly leans back. “ Quinn. The slutty roommate. A horror movie classic.”
Quinn looks at her. “ ‘sex positive’ but…thank you? “
“ Mm-hmm. Um, how did you come to live with Sam and Tara? “
“ I answered their ad online “ She looks at Sam who nods at her.
“ Okay, say no more. You’ve already implicated yourself enough.” Mindy exclaims.
“It was an anonymous ad, Mindy. And you know we vetted her. Plus you know her dad is a cop. “
“And that makes it more likely that she’s the killer, because having a cop dad is a great cover.  Do you not remember how these movies work, Tara?! “
Quinn looks at Sam “ Is she always like this? “  Sam just tilts her head.
“ And, of course, the quiet, sweet random girl from god knows where. “  She looks at you and you feel small under her judging gaze. “ I am guessing you also just answer the ad online, hm?  “
“ We-well- i- “
“ Right. Okay. You could be one of our prime suspects! “
“What, why? “ Tara asked Mindy, standing up. But you pulled her back down.
“ Because, Tara. No one knows anything about her really. She just popped up out of nowhere. “  You nod your head along, kind of agreeing. “ And finally….Anika “ She smiles at her.
Anika blows her a kiss that Mindy returns. But her smile quickly fades. “ Never trust the love interest. “
