i won't end up anywhere good (without you)
“The guitar suits you; you know. It just looks right in your hands.”
calex. mature. ao3. playlist.
If I'm a broken record, write it in the dust, babe I'll fill myself back up like I used to do And if my bones are made of delicate sugar I won't end up anywhere good without you
After the show, it was beers in the basement, after beers in the basement it was smoking outside in the warm June weather. After smoking she pulled out her acoustic guitar and covered Rihanna songs to make everyone else laugh. Olivia always turned in first, Amanda second, and Rafael and Casey would stay up until dawn before caving and falling asleep on the floor, the only space left. They’d wake up with pounding hangovers and load into the van again and do it all over in a new town. They were somewhere in Massachusetts; Casey couldn’t keep track anymore.
Olivia motioned for the bong over breakfast. Casey passed it, coughing into her cup of coffee. Amanda patted her back. Rafael was in the kitchen finishing the mountain of pancakes and bacon he was making for everyone in the house, the number of which seemed uncountable. The first of them to wake emerged from a bedroom in shorts and a tight tank, her eyes half-closed. She gave everyone a wave before disappearing into the bathroom.
“Ugh,” she said when she reappeared, sitting down at the crowded table, “I need food, right now.”
“Raf, ETA on pancakes?” Said Amanda.
“Gimme three,” he shouted over the hood fan.
“Thank God,” said the blonde woman beside Olivia.
“Big night?” Asked Casey playfully. The woman nodded.
“There was a show, went late, the afterparty went later. Too much whisky.”
“That’s all?” Said Amanda.
“Coke, but not that much,” she said. “Can I?” she asked, motioning for the bong.
‘Of course,” said Olivia, handing it to her. The woman turned her head back as she exhaled, politely blowing the smoke away from the rest of them. Raf came into the dining room with a towering stack. The woman’s eyes widened, and she immediately dug in like a cat with a fresh bowl.
“Hungry?” Said Raf, laughing. The woman nodded. Raf went back to cooking.
“This is so fucking good,” she said. “Ugh I have terrible manners, I’m Alex.”
“Olivia, nice to meet you.” The rest of them made their introductions. Alex Casey rolled around in her head. She liked the sound of that.
“I have to go to work in like half an hour,” Alex groaned.
“Oof,” said Amanda, “I don’t miss that. What do you do?”
“I’m a barista.”
“Do you play?” Asked Casey.
“I just live here,” said Alex. “Can’t play an instrument to save my life.” Casey nodded, taking a bite of her bacon. Another door opened and Rita came out, that was who had invited them, Casey remembered, the bass player. Rita gave them a nod. They heard the unmistakable sound of vomit from the bathroom and all cringed in sympathy.
“Poor thing,” said Amanda, drawling.
“Hey,” said Rita when she came out.
“Hey,” chorused the rest of them. Rita poured herself a cup of coffee from the Chemex. Casey imagined Alex must’ve insisted on a nice set up.
“I’d better go change,” said Alex, rising from the table. They filled the air with idle conversation. When she came back out, she had on a baggy pair of men’s Levi’s and a loose white t-shirt, her hair was up in a high ponytail. Casey noticed the green lower half of her hair. She had swiped on some black and white eyeliner and plum lipstick. She slung her arms around Rita’s shoulders. She grabbed her bag off a hook in the living room and said her goodbyes as she left for work.
“See you guys tonight,” she said. “Can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for us.”
“See you,” said Casey for the rest of the table. Olivia had begun to gather the dishes and Amanda was washing them. Raf took his opportunity to finally eat. Another roommate, and then another, and another (significantly more people than there were bedrooms) came out over the course of the next couple hours and were disappointed that the pancakes were gone. You snooze you lose, was Rafael’s reply. He knew more of them than the rest of them did. Raf had been in bands since he was thirteen.
“I saw you checking out Alex,” Rita said, cornering Casey at around three o’clock. She was sitting on the couch reading a novel.
“Did you?” Said Casey, who was unaware she had been doing such a thing.
“Yeah,” said Rita. “You’re her type, you should go for it.” Hm thought Casey. She did like to build memories in each town they visited. Eventually, though, they started to blend together, and all she would remember was girl with all the rings or undercut girl.
“Maybe,” said Casey.
“Anyway, I’m going to The Olive,” Rita said, “Alex’s boss gives us free drip. Want some?”
“Actually,” said Casey, setting aside her novel, “Can I come with?”
“Sure,” said Rita with a smile. “She’s fun to watch in action.”
“They always are,” said Casey. She grabbed her wallet and followed Rita out.
---
“Casey, hey, welcome,” said Alex from behind the bar. It was a busy Saturday, but not too busy. The place was full but there wasn’t a line. Casey watched as Alex effortlessly took an order while finishing up another one, like it was nothing. Pleasant indie pop played over the speakers, not entirely unlike what Hands in the Middle played, though they had more of a punk edge. Casey looked forward to their show that night.
“Hey,” Casey replied. Alex was filling up two twelve-ounce cups of drip coffee for them. She gave them a happy look. “Good to see you. You want room?”
“Black’s fine, thanks.” Alex handed them the cups. They could afford to chat for a little while. Rita, somewhat pointedly, went to the bathroom, leaving the two of them alone. “How’s it been today?” Alex bit her lip and looked into Casey’s eyes. She was being pursued. She liked that feeling.
“Oh, fine,” she said, “The lunch rush was kind of crazy.” She gestured to an untidy workstation behind her.
“Saturday,” Casey said.
“Looking forward to tonight?” Alex said. Casey didn’t miss what she meant. “I’m excited to see you guys play.”
“Yeah, I am,” said Casey, “very.” Alex’s coworker gestured behind Casey, and there was someone waiting. Rita came back from the bathroom.
“See you, Alex,” said Casey as they left. Alex gave her a large smile and wave in return.
---
“We sound like shit,” said Raf to Olivia. Something was off about the acoustics in the space, but there was nothing to be done about it, and no use in complaining, in Casey’s opinion, which she was sure Rafael knew. Casey played a few bars of their newest song.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine, Raf,” she said. Amanda made a noise in agreement. The residents of the house were milling about, eating, smoking, drinking, playing cards. Casey liked this kind of show, one where people actually lived. It was so personal and comfortable. They eventually got Rafael to calm down and just play. It was a good show, all things considered. Maybe they didn’t sound their best, but Casey was sure they didn’t sound their worst either. The crowd seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Now, everyone was gathered in the living and dining rooms with beers and weed, just how it should be. Alex found her right after the show and sat down next to her. Olivia and Amanda found some corner to pretend not to be into each other in (messy), and Rafael was passionately discussing cartoons with Rita at the dining table. Alex had her hand on Casey’s thigh, now, and Casey knew it was only a matter of time before they were going to be making out on this couch. She set down her beer.
“You really were great,” said Alex, flattering her. “The guitar suits you; you know. It just looks right in your hands.”
“Looking at my hands, were you?” said Casey, teasing.
“A little, maybe,” said Alex with a giggle. Casey was just high enough to be a little silly. Alex must’ve been too. Casey took Alex’s hand in her own.
“Look all you like,” she said in a deep voice. Alex kissed her, then, cupping her cheek and leaning in. Before long, she was in Casey’s lap and Casey’s hands were roaming her back, playing with her hair. Alex whipped her head back when a can collided with it.
“Get a room,” yelled Raf. Alex looked at Casey and shrugged in invitation.
“Sure,” said Casey. Alex hopped up and guided her into her bedroom. There were two beds in there, but nobody else in either. Alex got on the bed and lay back. Casey took one hand in hers and used the other to prop herself up as she kissed her lips, then her neck, making her gasp and moan.
---
It was nice to sleep in a real bed for once. Casey woke up feeling more rested than usual that Sunday morning. It was a good thing, too, because they had a really long driving day ahead of them. She could smell Rafael cooking, which meant it couldn’t be that late (well, someone would’ve woken her up if it was dire). Alex was already awake, it seemed, because she was alone in the bed. Casey dragged herself up and into the kitchen.
“Morning, Casey,” said Rita, “Alex had to head into work early, she sends her apologies. Fun night?” Casey grinned.
“Yep,” she said. Amanda gave her a high five. Breakfast was served, and thoroughly enjoyed. They loaded their things into the van and set off. That had been a good stop, in Casey’s opinion. It was on to the next.

( THIS POST CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS FOR FRINGE / STRANGER THINGS )
Still thinking about the fact that there are so many similarities between Stranger Things and Fringe.
I grew up watching Fringe. It's like, maybe one of my favorite sci-fi shows in existence, but it's super under-rated at times. However, as soon as I watched Stranger Things, back when the show first released on Netflix I was immediately struck but thoughts like... "Hmm, this seems very familiar..." and "Oh my god why is this so familiar" then finally upon reflection, "I know why it seems familiar!! Fringe!"
I mean hear me out!! Fringe deals with experiments on kids just like Stranger Things. The Cortexiphan trials result in a slew of paranormal powers for the children it's used on and everyone who had Cortexiphan also end up having different powers from one another?
Where have I heard that before- Stranger Things, perhaps?!
Like in Fringe you've got stuff like, Telekinesis, Telepathy, Teleportation, Super Hearing, Pyrokinesis, Electrokinesis, Healing/Infection Abilities, Regeneration, Mind Reading, Dimensional Manipulation, Nick's Powers (If you know you know but, TW so I'm not mentioning his. But they're oof) which I guess can be summed up to Emotional manipulation.
I don't want to list all the powers in Stranger Things but there are a Lot. So many. The important ones though are Telepathy, Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, Regeneration, Mind Reading, Hallucinations, Dimensional Manipulation, Teleportation. There's other but eh I'm lazy.
But looking at Fringe, Olivia's powers have always reminded me like super strongly of Els, like a whole lot? She literally goes into a sensory deprivation tank and can go into a trance like state, extremely similar to how El can. Now there's major differences to how the trance's work. El goes into the present, but can enter other people's minds and access their memories.
Olivia can also enter other people's minds and access their memories, though to a far lesser extent. Olivia could only do that due to mind links and other background things going on. (Olivia's powers are weaker many regards). However she can go into her trance like state and teleport across universes, so y'know. Tomato Tomahto, different powers but similar vein.
But yeah, El and Olivia's abilities are very different. However they are similar. They can both manipulate dimensions. They have telekinesis, electricity manipulation & possibly enhanced hearing. They can enter a trance like state with sensory deprivation. Their powers are more effective with emotional stimuli; El is much stronger, likely due to the fact that El is still young and just strong in general whereas Olivia only began using her powers extensively once she was in her twenties. In Fringe we do see Olivia showing similar strength as a child, but when the reason behind why she can use her abilities links back to bad stuff ( abuse), the experiments abruptly stop for Olivia and do not restart till MUCH later on.
I'm rambling, I am definitely rambling, but the similarities are there! I've always felt like there was a super strong coloration between the two. Is this rambling based on any wild theories about these two shows being in the same universe. Psh no, but damn could they be at times.
Also let us not forget that the Cortexiphan trials take place during, *drum roll please* 1981! Nearly the same time as the MKUltra trials we see done by Dr. Brenner in Stranger Things. I know Dr. Bishop also worked for the army as well for many years, much like how Dr. Brenner's MKUltra is military backed, but I do not believe Dr. Bishop's trials were actually done with Army knowledge. Else the kids would have likely gone on to become super soldiers, I'm sure, considering in Fringe it is stated that the Army was very interested in that vein of science at the time. But, nevertheless the original Cortexiphan trails weren't done with Army knowledge. They WERE done at a similar time as Dr. Brenner's MKUltra experiments. The Cortexiphan Trials just happened to be run in Ohio & Jacksonville, where in Stranger Things MKUltra is in Indiana.
Anyways, I've wanted to write a fanfiction crossover or SOMETHING for these two universes because Fringe is just *chef's kiss* and has some seriously cool stuff. With the events of season 4 actually going over how the upside down works, I really think there could be a solid basis for a cross over here, that wouldn't break realities (ha-ha).
The upside down isn't an alternate universe, like we see in Fringe. What we see in Fringe are literally universes that mirror our world, but with a severe case of butterfly effect. No no no, The Upside down is more like a pocket dimension, where it lies exclusively within the town of Hawkins and doesn't actually stretch beyond it's borders. We see this, I believe, due to the Russians being unable to open a gate in their country? It's because there is no Upside down in Russia.
Anyways something something, fanfiction crossover, something something, the supernatural/ sci-fi abilities are really quite similar in these two shows, something something, I love these shows to bits even though their vibe is VERY different.
Any fellow Fringe & Stranger Things fans out there? Probably not that many but I can dream, right?

i love crunching the numbers because they're so tasty but think of it this way
Aether >>>> RfK therefore
Chrom's daughters >>>> Chrom's sons
galeforce is so good that unless you're deliberately playing a challenge run where you don't use it you should be trying to get it at least on half your kids and yon1 definitely want it on Lucina. but Lucina has a really good prf weapon and you don't want her locked out of using it so you want to inherit galeforce into her where possible rather than send her through dark flier herself. let's look at it
Chrom Robin = 1 daughter w galeforce access (although you'll need to do a lot of grinding for her to inherit it) + 1 son with RfK and no immediate skill to use it on = bad
Chrom Olivia = 1 daughter with galeforce, as above but with an added penalty for grinding gf because now you don't have a dancer and marrying Chrom and Olivia is really dull + 1 son with RfK and ... armsthrift. which isn't THAT bad i guess but wow it's not really a gamechanger on recruitment
Chrom Maribelle = 1 daughter as above although if you can get Maribelle into DF she'll probably do better than Olivia does + 1 son with RfK and. miracle. so im assuming if you do Chrom/Maribelle for DS+ magical Lucina you are not recruiting Brady bc oof
Chrom Sully = 2 daughters ! finally ! but neither of them have galeforce. however. not hugely a gamechanger if your challenge rules already forbid it. really solid stats for Lucina and Kjelle, medium fast support, genuinely so much better than Chrom/Olivia but you know how it is with fandoms and gnc women. anyway
Chrom Sumia = 2 daughters, easiest possible galeforce access that you can get with room to spare by chapter 13 even in no grind lunatic or lunatic+, Sumia is the only non-Robin mother who gives Lucina pavise access meaning you can run aegis pavise + RfK for an ultra tank, mods are excellent where it matters (speed!!! the most important stat in awakening!!!!!!) and you get archer Cynthia with aether the unstoppable killing machine. unquestionably your best option AND they have a fast support AND Chrom is Sumia's best pair up partner AND her unique ability to be both one of your best frontliners and then transition to a really solid support unit just by going from DF to GK to FK means that Chrom will have someone to backpack for all game. they're so good and so worth it

Hey, it's the Kiara Deserves Better™ anon! I haven't had the chance to finish it until recently. Your essay was great as always and highlighted why I'm so frustrated with how they've written Kiara. I'm tempted to ask you for another essay, but I'm not sure what to ask for xD. But I figured since you've written so much for me already, I thought I'd share about me: I want to replay and do Hana's route because she deserves better as always, so are there any diamond choices you would *not* pick?
Ahhh yes! I remember you xD I'm always happy to churn out essays as long as I know what I'm talking about 😅😅 I'm glad we agree about how frustrating (and downright disgushing) the treatment for Kiara was. I can't promise to do entire essays on her BUT I sure am planning some fanfic prominently featuring her and Hana 😃 I'm just in two minds because either I'll need to wait until TRH QTs are over or I'll need to abandon my QTs altogether. But I have loads of ideas and I'm impatient to start!!
Okay soooo...which Hana scenes wouldn't I pick? I think that depends on what kind of diamond content you wouldn't like, but rn I'll go with the ones I feel have least value in terms of actually getting to know her.
A lot of the times my problem is that you can tell when they wrote a scene clearly so you could gain advantages, rather than anything related to Hana herself. In such scenes she is not important - how the MC can use her (and at least on one occasion steal credit for Hana's creativity) is. Which bleeds into my overall problem with the canon Hana and MC dynamic (friendship or romantic) itself. Like, when you have to aggressively rewrite whole parts of canon in your fanfic to make your MC seem like a better friend at least...you know there is something wrong.
Book 1: Most of the scenes are top level! Cordonian Waltz...Piano Scene...Yacht scene...Her Confession Scene...Her Finale Scene...all very beautiful and very unique and they all explored different facets of her character. Like even the ones that are about skill or give perks have space for HER personally!
Perhaps some of the scenes in Applewood you can skip, but that would mean you won't get much time to interact with her on closer level there. The pie baking contest is really more about the special touches Hana adds to the pie (like the decoration and additional instructions), but I think you can win the contest for free as well! Buying the Derby champion horse also unlocks an extra scene where she teaches you dressage moves but a lot of the personal stuff she tells you is mostly free content. So on a more personal level (and if you don't mind Hana winning the horse race at Fox Hunt 😁) it doesn't exactly count for much and you can maybe give it a miss.
Book 2: Oof. Terrible mostly. I won't deny you'll find a few gems (Patisserie scene...Library scene...Proposal scene 😍😍😍 Even the McDermots scene is pretty good, besides that one dialogue option where they make Hana call Shanghai "ancient" 🙄). One of the worst ever Hana scenes comes from this book.
Hot Chocolate Scene: Okay so on it's own it's actually a nice scene! It involves genuine personal time with Hana where you ask her questions and show concern...and that gets harder to come by later on in the series. BUT the part that makes this so awful is that this scene should have been where we saw the flashback, not Drake's. In fact the scenes should have been reversed. Drake had no authority talking about something that involved Hana esp when Hana herself never gets the opportunity to use this fact (that Liam brought her back, not Madeleine) to her advantage. So yeah. This scene is good coz you know a little more about her family but awful coz she was robbed of the chance to talk about how she REALLY returned.
PARIS RUNWAY: I put this in caps and italics and red letters because it is the worst scene in the history of this series!!!! Like ever. Where do I even begin with the PROBLEMS in this one.
Tumblr media
First, this is not a Hana scene. It's a Penelope scene with a Hana kiss tacked on at the end, for convenience. I bought the scene in my fail playthrough and didn't include Penelope and you could really feel the difference.
Second, like...you know how wearing the Snow Bunny outfit in Book 1 unlocks the Drake Meteor Shower scene, right? They could have easily used that kind of coding here. Buy the outfit and you unlock the chance to model. You know what happens if you don't buy it and buy the Hana scene? The audience applauds you for going on stage in a tank top and jeans. In Paris. It doesn't make any fucking sense!
Third, this particular chapter has diamond scenes for all three LIs. Liam gets to take the MC to the Eiffel Tower and talk about his father as a King and his vision for Cordonia, Drake gets an emotional reunion with his sister. Hana gets...this. A scene that doesn't even give HER importance coz no, kissing Penelope's ass is more important. Hana got bullied the previous night and Madeleine lied through her teeth about her motives the next day (by option) but no, the girl who secretly dragged our reputation through the mud is more important.
Fourth, the scene preceding this one was a group scene masquerading as a "Comfort Hana!" scene. That scene basically focused on anyone who wasn't Hana (including Olivia btw)
The other scenes are fine (following this is patisserie scene and library scene, my favourites in this book), and the Champagne scene is okay, but ultimately it's a decent scene that views the upcoming trip to NY as more important, and there is very little on Hana herself. When you think of that in the context of Hana having very little attention to herself in her own home, and the fact that in the next chapter she is NOT THERE...it's not great. But you can still purchase it because nothing can ever be as bad as the Paris Runway scene.
Book 3: Okay so in this book your scenes are split between "character" and "LI" scenes. The first you will get no matter who you are marrying, coz it's supposed to be about their issues or things only they can specifically impart to you. The second will be exclusively romantic scenes with your LIs.
Character Development Scenes: Hana has three and none of them are good at all. The team took laziness to a whole other level in this book. The Polo scene gives you extra perks at the game in Portavira, but there are very few variations between the "friend" version of this scene and the "LI" versions. Like when Hana has questions about her future the MC - whether she is marrying Hana or not - can claim (optionally) that Hana could be a "professional best friend" (to this day I don't understand why they couldn't replace that option with "Duchess" in Hana's playthrough). The scene where they get Hana's traditional handmade outfit was supposed to be the culmination of Hana's arc but it was awfully executed but the big downside to NOT buying it is that Hana never gets to wear that lovely outfit again (except for a brief time during the wedding). I would have called this the worst scene if Paris Runway didn't take that title and run with it. The Snow Angel scene is Lythikos is...okay, I guess? At least it's about her and not how the MC can best use her.
Again, in the case of both Polo scene and Snow Angel - the scenes are decent, but in both those chapters they're pitted against Drake scenes where you can see the difference in effort!! You can tell Hana's scenes were a real quickie, and devoid of any care or love from the writer for that character.
LI scenes: Thankfully you get better LI scenes for her in plenty. I'd avoid the one in the bathtub in Chapter 2. It's not very well written and the LIs all sounded like each other. This was originally a problem in the Applewood spa scene too but I think they changed it here and there. The rest of the LI scenes were pretty fantastic Hana wise. Some of them even delved a little into the aftereffects of her upbringing...which they never ever brought up again.
Honorary Mention: Hana's Gift. Coz every other LI gets beautiful gifts that are unique to them but for Hana the MC grabs a...telescope and slaps a Hallmark card message to it.
Tumblr media
But the thing is that perhaps your criteria for what scenes would be good or not would be vastly different from mine, so do keep that in mind when you're choosing. A good way to gauge would be to maybe take a look at a particular scene on YouTube just to confirm.
Hope this helped!!

She-Ra Circus AU
I'm surprised no one thought of this yet oof
- Hordak's Hall of Horrors is a travelling circus known for for its creepy industrial revolution aesthetic & is loved by only those brave enough to enter their tent.
- Henry "Hordak the Horrible" is the ringmaster, but isn't too involved in the day-to-day workings of the circus
- Cassandra "The Shadow Weaver" is the circus's magicican & hypnotist & runs the daily operations; feared by all the circus workers.
- All the cadets are stagehands & are apprentices to other circus jobs. Adora was expected to become the new ringleader; Katherine "Catra" will be the new animal-trainer; Rogelio will be the new snakecharmer; Lonnie will join Carrie "Scorpia" in the strongman act; & Kyle is hopeless in everything except being a clown
- Adora accidentally adopts the She-Ra identity after meeting Claudia "Glimmer" & Andrew "Bow" & becomes a strongman/daredevil at the Brightmoon Circus; "The Girl Who Can Destroy A Tank In A Single Blow!"
- Glimmer is a new magician, taking over for her mother so she doesn't have to work as hard (& to prove that she can handle responsibility!)
-Bow does trick-shots w/ arrows, knives, swords, hatchets - you name it, he can throw it w/ perfect accuracy
- Penelope "Perfuma" is an aerialist w/ silks & tighrope; turned her train car into a greenhouse
- Olivia "Mermista" does some of the most impressive dives in all the world (rumor has it she turned down an Olympics offer!); Connor "Seahawk" is a former Navy officer who helps set up Mermista's stunts (& lost his position as fire-eater due to his lack of self-restraint)
- Emily "Entrapta" is in charge of all the circus's technical aspects & machinery; she becomes enticed to join Hordak after plot events
- Netossa & Spinnerella are trapeze artist & are definitely dating (& so are Rogelio & Kyle #RepkyleForTheWin)
- Angella is the ringleader of Brightmoon Circus, a show for all ages sure to spark your imaginations! She had to take over after Micha died in a fire accident when Glimmer was a baby; tired of everyone's shit
- Frosta is a little girl who ran away from home during the circus show in her hometown where plot happens; is a graceful ice skater, despite not having a place to perform after joining the circus & is known for being "cold" & "emotionally distant" (but she doesn't talk about that)
Plot:
Brightmoon Circus & Hordak's Hall of Horror are the 2 best circuses in the country, & have been competing for as long as they've been running. Adora joins the Brightmoon Circus after meeting Glimmer & Bow in the city after a performance & being treated with respect & care, things that are new to her. Catra, furious & hurt by Adora leaving w/out even saying anything, decides to defy Weaver's orders &, working w/ Scorpia & the other stagehands, starts a massive fire during Adora's performances, using the ensuing chaos to kidnap Glimmer & Bow, to get revenge on Adora & put Brightmoon Circus out of business once & for all. The group saves Glimmer & Bow, but lose Entrapta when they think she's crushed by one of Hordak's circus contraptions. She ends up joining Hordak's Hall when they let her build whatever she wants, regardless of whether it's safe for performers or not. Frosta jumped on the train when they were leaving her town after the fire, & no one noticed until they were miles away from the station.
What do you guys think? Do you want to see more? Share your own ideas!

Snowdrop the Mightyena | level 50 | female | Intimidate | Lonely, loves to eat | Ice Fang, Crunch, Odor Sleuth, Rock Smash | found route 101
Sage the Claydol | level 47 | no thank you | Levitate | Bold, sturdy body | Earth Power, Extrasensory, Ancient Power, Dazzling Gleam | found route 111

Sequoia the Gyarados | level 44 | female | Intimidate | Bashful, nods off a lot | Surf, Ice Fang, Crunch, Dive | found route 106
Edelweiss the Skarmory | level 43 | male | Sturdy | Gentle, very finicky | Assurance, Steel Wing, Fly, Swift | found route 113
So, looking ahead, Oli should be able to take it now (Wallace’s Milotic is the same level as her, 46). Might encounter problems with Whiscash, I still don’t have any Grass moves, best bet at this point would be to send Snowdrop in and have her Crunch away.
Onwards! Gonna clear out the trainers, THEN tackle the puzzle!
Beauty Tiffany leads with a Golduck, level 41, then a Wailord, level 41. How does it even fit in the gym... Oli takes out both.
Beauty Bridget has a Gorebyss, level 43. Discharge handles it! (And gets Oli to level 47.)
Next up, Beauty Connie has a Huntail, level 43. They match!
Beauty Olivia has a Starmie, level 43, and right beside her, Lady Brianna leads with Clamperl, level 41, then Corsola, level 41 too. Discharge OHKOs the first two, but Corsola uses Endure and survives it. It gets healed up, next one OHKOs and gets Oli to level 48!
Okay I think that’s all the trainers - oh no, Lass Andrea near the stairs. Ludicolo, level 42. Fake Out, you pest. Discharge gets it to the yellows, it Rain Dances, and another Discharge finishes it off.
Okay, NOW to nip back to the Centre to restore PP, haha. (Discharge only has 15 PP, I went through a lot.)
Puzzle time! ...Yeah I sucked at that haha. Walkthrough time XD;; Oh this one has trainers, okay. Poke Fan Marissa has Azumarill, level 43. Discharge OHKOs it. Lass Crissy leads with Lucdisc, level 39, then Seadra, level 41. Couple of Discharges makes short work of them.
And ready to face Wallace! THE FUCKIN’ POSING... WALLACE IS DEFINITELY NOT WEARING UNDERWEAR...
Anyway. Leads with Luvdisc, level 44. Discharge OHKO! Next is Whiscash, level 44. Let’s get Snowdrop in! Crunch gets it down to half, it uses Earthquake, another Crunch finishes it. Good job, Snowdrop! Huh, Milotic already. Back to Oli! Discharge down to half, OOF that Hydro Pump did a lot of damage. Gonna heal up, no doubt Wallace will do the same. Nope, another Hydro Pump. Next Discharge takes it out! (And Oli hits level 49.) Next is Sealeo, it gets in an Aurora Beam while I heal Oli up, thankfully doesn’t do too much damage, Discharge OHKOs it. Last up, Seaking, and Discharge OHKO!
Gyms COMPLETE!
Alright! Now we can go back to Littleroot and get the National Dex.
God I love soaring. Please bring back for Ultra SM.
Oooh. Mirage spots. You know what, gonna count these as catchable locations!
Mirage Cave encounter - Tynamo! Okay, not going to be helpful, they take SO LONG to level... okay nvm this one is already on level 37! I shall name her Vallisneria. Eel grass!! Actually that’s really good, only two levels to Eelektrik should anything happen to Oli.
And I need more Quick Balls. Back to Fallarbor! Off to Lilycove, got to delete Sequoia’s Dive in favour of Waterfall. PRETTY sure I don’t need Dive in Victory Road... And then to... let’s say Mossdeep, that’ll be a good point.
Ayyy new Pokemon. My route 127 get is Alomomola! Male, level 30. I shall name you Buddleja.
Nothing for route 128, on to Evergrande. NYOOM. AND IN TO VICTORY ROAD.
First trainer - Ace Trainer Albert. He leads with - Sigilyph! I love those :D Level 45, so actually the same as Edel, my lowest-levelled. Let’s go with Oli. It uses Gravity, we’re good. Let’s use... Volt Switch. A bit into the reds, that’s okay, I’ll now bring out Snowdrop to finish it! Air Slash does a bit of damage, but a Crunch finishes it off. Next is Rhyperior, level 45, that’s Sequoia’s! She’s only a level above, much closer. Waterfall down to low yellows. Oh shit Stone Edge - she survived!! A second Waterfall finishes it!
First encounter - Sableye. Dupes clause!
You know what, before I get too far in, I’m gonna go stock up on healing items XD;; And uh. And repels, once I get my catch.
Oh there we go. It’s a Loudred. Hmm... yeah, okay. Onion’s new big sister is called Leek. ...Just go with it XD
Next trainer! Ace Trainer Hope has a single Froslass, level 47. Edel’s already out, but still only level 45... still gets in a good Steel Wing! Confuse Ray, augh. Yeah okay I hate confusion damage RIP Daisy I’m gonna get Chickweed to finish it XD Captivate, then Confuse Ray, ugh. DAMMIT CHICKWEED. Snowdrop? Shadow Ball does very little, CONFUSE RAY AGAIN, but gets out a Crunch and it’s down!
Man, Victory Road is hardcore.
Oof it’s dark in here.
Expert Bryn leads with Hitmontop, level 45. It uses Agility, then Feint - which misses because Edel was about to DESTROY it with Fly :’) Next is Throh, level 45. It uses Endure, Edel flies, uses Bulk Up, ANOTHER ENDURE, Steel Wing does some damage, and then another to finish it.
Back up we go, to face Ace Trainer Edgar. He has a single Mawile, level 47. This one is Chickweed’s! It uses Stockpile, Chickie uses a Mega-boosted Blaze Kick! RIP Mawile!
Street Thug Regan has a Houndoom, level 43. Time for Sequoia! Next is Shiftry, level 43. All Chickie’s!
Hooboy, an Ace Trainer double. Ace Duo Jude and Rory have Armaldo, level 47, and Cradily, ditto. I think this calls for a Surf!  Edel takes a little damage but is otherwise fine. Take a couple of hits, Steel Wing works very nicely. Another Surf, another Steel Wing, the Cradily is down and the Armaldo almost is. Sequoia’s Ice Fang finishes it off!
Next up, Expert Theodore. He has a Sawk, level 47. Edel flies! NYOOM. It keeps using Bulk Up - whoops, and now an Endure while Edel flies up again. Never mind it’s down ;D
FLAMETHROWER TM. You know what, I’m gonna give this to Oli! Not doing much catching any more, Thunder Wave can go!
Ohh, here’s the other Winstrate! Ace Trainer Vito leads with Electrode, level 44. Let’s get Sage in to Earth Power it into submission. It Light Screens, got it down to yellow. ...And then it explodes, of course. WIMP. Next is Darmanitan, Sage actually can take this but I want to save PP, so let’s go for Sequoia! It uses Taunt, and Sequoia destroys it with Waterfall. Bye! Last up, Swalot, level 44. Back to Sage! Extrasensory OHKO!
Dragon Tamer Egon has a Kingdra, level 47. Oof, challenging, I don’t have any Dragon moves, and my only Fairy move is on a Ground type. PRAYER CIRCLE FOR SAGE. It uses Focus Energy, Dazzling Gleam gets it down to reds, it uses Agility then Dragon Pulse, Sage tanks it even though it’s a crit! Next Dazzling Gleam takes it down! Nice.
Brain and Brawn pair, let’s put Sequoia in second, she has Crunch for the Psychic-type. Aden and Finn send out Primeape and Musharna, both level 47. Primeape uses Swagger, oof. Sequoia crunches the Musharna down to yellows, Edel manages to Fly despite the confusion, good birb! Primeape uses Rage and it does fuck all. Musharna takes another Crunch, and Fly takes out the Primeape. Psybeam on Sequoia doesn’t do much, and her Crunch finishes it off!
Oh hey, never knew that X-Scissor was there. Nice. Edel can learn it, gonna replace Assurance!
TIME FOR WALLY. He leads with Altaria - gonna put Snowdrop in! ...This room is so gorgeous. THE MUSIC CHANGE. THE BACKGROUND. BEAUTIFUL. I’ll give it my all, Wally! Leads with Altaria, level 46. Ice Fang from Snowdrop OHKOs it! Next is Roselia, level 46. Chickie OHKOs it with Flame Charge. Magneton, level 46, another Flame Charge takes it down to 1HP, it uses Tri Attack, which does negligible damage, another Flame Charge finishes it. Next is Delcatty, we’re still with Chickie, Double Kick OHKO this time. Last is his ace, level 48 Mega Gallade. Gonna go to Edel for this. It uses Swords Dance then Psycho Cut, and then Fly OHKOs it.
...I feel so bad.
Got a Dawn Stone, and a promise that he’ll get stronger. He will, too!
Up to the League, and finishing up here for now!
