avos onestar and rowanstar parallel about how they’re both on shaky ground as leaders, they’re aware their clanmates don’t respect them as such and have actually left them to the wolves in one way or another, but the two are bitter enemies and this similarity between them is actually their downfall as both of their kingdoms crumble under darktail’s seige…

was writing D2D last night (everyone cheered!) and i made some spontaneous decisions about shadowclan while writing about tawnypelt
shadowclan is prideful, right. cunning and clever and solitary. if the rest of the clans want to push them away so badly, fine, they don’t want anything to do with them, either. they’ll make their own way. they’re not so much friends or family necessarily as they are comrades in arms, but that’s okay. whatever emotional distance might be there is bridged by solidarity and a deep loyalty to the idea of shadowclan.
but then: brokenstar. then nightstar. then tigerstar. shadowclan is broken from a large, powerful clan to a shell of itself in a handful of years. what they get after tigerstar is blackstar, who might be making amends but was still very much complacent. all of these cats have lost family and friends, all of them have probably killed other warriors, and they have to trust in their new leader who was instrumental in making it all happen.
so shadowclan is still shadowclan in the wake of tigerstar. they won’t ever change that drastically. but i also believe they find ways to be gentler, to work on forgiveness just as much as they work on redeeming themselves. they do it quietly, in the dark, but they figure out how to support one another. i like the idea of them fumbling through learning what everyone needs to be supported and then Never Discussing It Again, just quietly doing what needs done when it comes up.
shadowclan: emotionally healthy against their will

in your anthro au, does bramble actually make it to canada? is the plotline of the lake territory scrapped for something else?
rambled quite a bit here!
no, they dont make it to canada. they abandoned that idea after feather was killed. instead her funeral and burial is held in california by her dying wish and her family drives/flies over. graystripe and mosspelt took feather's car, but mosspelt flies back home via plane. graystripe is staying wirh storm indefinitely and eventually meets millie.
with storm's blessing, bramble, tawny, crow, and squirrel take the van back home. tawny is dropped off on the way, but crow insists on tagging along to thunder because he's not ready to be alone yet. his family is pretty small and he's not sure his parents will be able to help much, as much as they may try.
dodging the draft can get you into trouble, but there are many that got off scot free and bramble was one pf those lucky fellows (especially with firestar's involvement. he made sure bramble wouldn't have it held against him in return for keeping squirrel safe and bringing her home). firestar was furious at both bramble and squirrel but he's not cruel and unsympathetic, especially considering they just lost a very close friend (and that gray isnt coming back for a while).
this is where crow and leaf meet, crow is kinda bunking with bramble at his place and even had plans to move in for good. his parents were pretty combative but couldnt do much since he was a few states away!!! they dont know where the fuck thunder-whatever is. but eventually he gets a call about his father's rapidly declining health and immediately abandons his plans to stay. he asks leaf to come with him but leaf still isn't finished with med school (she doesn't know she's pregnant yet) and they part ways. crow makes it home to help ashfoot care for deadfoot in his final few months and fills in after his father dies. it's something he didnt plan to continue but its notnlike he HATES doing the work. eventually meets+marries nightcloud a 1-4 yrs later
leaf meanwhile continues med school. being unmarried with kids is still a social taboo, especially at such a young age (im imagining she and squirrel are around 18-19 by now, 17 during the road trip). squirrel and bramble, however, had been in a relationship with one another for a while after coming back home. sure, it got a bit messy when ashfur came back from vietnam and got a bit too close to squirrel for comfort, but they sorta resolved it and eventually bramble/squirrel got engaged. leaf confided in squirrel for her help with the pregnancy and squirrel immediately offered to take the children in as her own if leaf needed. it was a huge jump but leaf took the offer. bramble was let in on the plan the closer leaf got to her due date. he thought it was a very impulsive decision and they fought a bit about making the decision without him but he was enthusiastic about being a father regardless.
the others in town had their suspicions but dont ask dont tell.
theres some other parts i havent fully ironed out yet like where hawkfrost and mothwint come in.
as for the actual lake territories, they coexist with the forest territories by just being in different states LOL windclan and thunderclan's territory was pretty consistent in terms of The Basics so theyre mostly in the same general area (tc is east coast forests, wc is southwest-midwest prairies. theres a lot of cowboys, farmers, and ranchers in "windclan" as a result). shadowclan i can see being in the southern swamps, especially florida or louisiana, and riverclan is kinda interspersed alont the mississippi and ohio rivers. maybe a few along the east coast, too, as the lake territory equivalent. skyclan is probably in the rockies or the redwood forests out west. maybeeee old skyclan is in the appalachias???? idk LOL since the cats are so far apaer now the conflicts are a little less wide scale and more personal if rhat makes any sense at all. of course this whole au is a huge work in progress so some of what i say here may change!
the clans are rural/small/poor towns in my head. tight knit communities that have to rely on each other. kittypets are urban/suburbanites as a contrast and keep the 'kittypets r fucjing spoiled' theme going . you inow the city slicker junk LOL
bloodclan is probably a gang in new york. at least scourge's bloodclan. the other iterations are probably in other huge metropolitan cities. idk what warriorclan is, and the tribe is a whole can of worms im trying to be very careful with so im not gonna talk about them as a whole quite yet other than imply they exist

if i did an avos rewrite. it would be firestar coming to sparkpaw and telling her about skyclan and saying it’s time for skyclan to join the clans around the lake. sparkpaw tells jayfeather about her dream and he directs her to sandstorm, who tells her about it, and decides to lead her there. sparkpaw insists her cringefail brother comes too, hopefully to get him some experience (he is a warrior apprentice and not banished to the med den for being so fail) needlepaw finds the patrol and comes too, so it’s grandma and 3 kids, and the 3 apprentices are all become friends.
sandstorm leads them to skyclan and they find darktail and his guys but sandstorm has a bad feeling about them, and refuses to work with them. they go off looking for the real skyclan and find them (instead of going home and then leaving again in a few books) and darktail catches up to them. sandstorm lays down her life fighting for skyclan then, maybe she’s protecting baby twigkit and violetkit (who are not randomly abandoned and are not pov characters) or maybe to give them all a head start at getting away. either way she goes out fighting for skyclan, and glimpses of her spirit guide them back to the lake.
spark and alder return to the lake with skyclan in tow, but sparkpaw is having mixed feelings about skyclan now because her beloved grandma died for them, and now that they’re back at the lake there seems to be nothing but turmoil caused by bringing them back. alderpaw advocates aggressively for them, which drives a wedge between the siblings. skyclan is there to advise shadowclan against letting darktail close to them, but they are stubborn and rowanstar sucks so they ignore the warnings and get taken over. riverclan does not get taken over. needletail is there to give a POV from shadowclan as things get worse. darktail’s gang+shadowclan take over the territory that thunderclan cleared for skyclan’s temporary camp, which adds more tension. onestar is being aggressive and paranoid towards the other clans, especially skyclan, but doesn’t seem interested in what’s happening in shadowclan. needletail (pretending to be on darktail’s side) figures out the relationship between darktail and onestar, and tells sparkpaw, and her and alderpaw go to confront onestar on their own and he kicks them out, but he dwells on their thoughts.
thunder, sky and riverclan leap into a big final battle against darktail, some shadowclan cats turn on him but some don’t out of fear or new loyalties. needletail tries to take on darktail alone, but she ultimately dies, the last thing she sees is alderpaw and sparkpaw desperately trying to help but they’re being held back by either darktail’s posse or clanmates who know that they would just die if they go over there too idk. just when hope seems lost, windclan comes running in and saves the day, with onestar catching darktail by surprise. i like the way they both go under and then never resurface so that can stay.
sparkpaw and alderpaw get their warrior names together, alderheart and sparkstorm, after their grandparents. in needletail’s honor they both aggressively advocate for warrior code reform, and for the clans to move the borders over so skyclan can have territory. maybe there’s some issues with shadowclan trying to reconstruct itself, and there’s some fighting between shadow and skyclan or whatever but the whole juniperclaw thing doesn’t happen, and skyclan doesn’t try to leave again.i think shadowkit is what finally stops the fighting between the two. but the point is. sparkpelt is important the whole time, and skyclan is there too.

I translated some of my Warrior OCs a bit ago! Four of them are part of one family, and the other is my tabaxi ranger with a warrior's name! I don't know if they're correct, but I wanted to give it a shot!
Clovershine - Glemshem (Her name ended up super cute to say! She's the Mi of Cricket and Fawn!)
Alderpelt - Reykossaborrl (There wasn't a word specifically for Alder, so I combined red and tree! This guy is Clover's mate and the very involved Ba of Cricket and Fawn!)
Fawnfrost - Myaachiki (Myaa sounded cuter than Mween, so I used that instead! Fawny is my main girl I rped and invested a lot of trauma in! :D)
Cricketcall - ???ayeo (Sadly no word for cricket, and I couldn't find words to combine for it. Maybe bell and bug? Idk, I just think this guy is neat! He and his dad and Fawn's mentor all die in a terrible sickness, hence her trauma! :DD)
Emberstrike - Kipkubo (A bit of a stim of a name, tbh. She's the ranger, I love her so much and I wish her campaign didn't fall through...)
CRICKET TIME.
So the first thing to know here is that the Clan cat idea of crickets may be somewhat different to your own.
If you're American, you may have a distinction in your mind that a cricket is usually a singing, hopping bug with a more rounded head, where grasshoppers are longer and more locust-shaped. That isn't the case in this part of Britan/Albion. In fact, grasshoppers are the ones better known for their singing abilities.
See this?
Tumblr media
This is a house cricket. They're very rare in this region, and mostly live in human houses, as the name implies. Clan cats do not have a word for these.
THIS is what they're imagining when they hear the word cricket;
Tumblr media
This green, stout, long-legged insect is called a Speckled Bush-Cricket. They have three species of bush-cricket and five species of hopper.
Generic terms;
Bush-cricket (generic) = Pwoi Named for the sound they make while jumping, as opposed to how hoppers are named for the song. Sometimes gets applied to other rounded, hopping insects, like fleas.
Hopper (generic) = Chrriga Long, powerful insects with loud chirping wails that they make by rubbing their legs against themselves. Found on the ground and in grass, unlike bush-crickets which are usually arboreal.
Popper (a hopping insect suitable for eating) = Arroi Subjective, WindClan tends to use this as a generic for both hoppers and bush-crickets, ShadowClan applies it to all big ones, RiverClan and ThunderClan don't use it at all (except Sorreltail who uses it for any hoppers she's caught and plans to eat).
Hopper Poppers = Pwoi k'sirArroi A WindClan dish. Mashed, breaded-and-egged, deep fried cricket balls. Related to grubcakes, but these INCLUDE breadcrumbs for a crunch. Kind of unhealthy, but a good source of fat which is otherwise lacking in the WindClan diet.
Specific species;
For funsies I'm going to give them a culinary rating, maximum of four stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐. I'm being possessed by the spirit of BB!Sorreltail lmao.
Roesel's bush-cricket (Roeseliana roeselii) = I'ri'r THE undeniable sound of summer, buzzing long and loud when it gets hot. This animal is the most uncanny mix between a hopper and a bushcricket and has a distinctive sound, so it's rarely referred to with a generic title. ⭐⭐⭐ It is also large and meaty. Best of both worlds, right here. Most palatable bush-cricket.
Speckled bush-cricket (Leptophyes punctatissima) = Rr'ik Though its cry is delicate and high-pitched like a bat, it's noteworthy for being the only one in this family that sings mutually. Female crickets return a song to a male they like. ⭐⭐ They're small, but gooey. WindClan sometimes skips mashing them because they're SO leggy, they prefer to just pull the bits off and eat the body. Like a gusher. But that's so much effort, you know?
Drumming Katydid (Meconema thalassinum) = Kugr Has a low, almost threatening grinding noise, which is fitting because it is an active predator. The only one in this list. It kills and eats caterpillars and other invertebrates, but that's not all. It's also a host for a horrible parasite that forces it to run towards water at the end of its life, drowning the animal before bursting out of its body. ⭐ Tastes awful. Possessed by worms. All legs and no meat. Only ShadowClan would eat something like this.
Common Field Grasshopper (Chorthippus brunneus) = Gyig WindClan's bread-and-butter, one of the most common insects they need to eat to keep their coats healthy. Has a chirping song instead of a drawn-out one. HATES wetness and is best found where the gorse is dead and dry. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A favorite for a reason. It's abundant, it's meaty, it's large. It can even be purple.
Green Grasshopper (Omocestus viridulus) = F'fir Green with thick black bars on its abdomen, with a harsh, fluttering song. Tends to find a high pedestal before playing its song, as if it's trying to get in front of an audience. ⭐⭐⭐ Has more crunch than meat, with big wings that can get in the way, but still a hopper which is pretty delicious.
Slender grouse locust (Tetrix subulata) = Sswoi Dull brown thing that doesn't even sing. Has a dumb little wiggle-dance instead. Loves streams and lidos and is the hopper that RiverClan cats see most often. ⭐ No wonder RiverClan doesn't eat bugs.
Meadow Grasshopper (Pseudochorthippus parallelus) = Shriga Some of them can look deceptively like a f'fir with the green bodies and barring, but listen. Listen. Its song is TOTALLY different, more of a shakey-shake kind of rattle. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ And Sorreltail will GO TO BAT for how delicious they are. Don't be fooled. This is grasshopper ambrosia. Tiny wings, lots of crunch, a nice flavor. ABSOLUTE delicacy.
Groundhopper (Tetrix undulata) = Wariga A plump, brown grasshopper that eats moss and algae, preferring wet environments with drier areas to retreat to. ⭐⭐⭐??? Data needed. ShadowClan cats kept SWEARING to Sorreltail that these are actually the best, most delicious poppers out there. But she's never had one so she can't attest to it... yet. It's hard to imagine anything can taste better than a honey-roasted shriga. She doubts it tbh.

You know what would be a cool warrior cat au? Sibling swap au. Not in personality or whatever because that just takes away from who the cats are but in roles and how/when they die.
I mean at face value what a cool au we would have Snowstar instead of Bluestar!! WRONG. Maybe? I mean Moonflower would be the med cat (bc she swapped with Goosefeather) but maybe those two would end up as Goose’s kits somehow, if he ever decided to have kits even though he’s a warrior now. So that would mean Thistleclaw would become leader right? Because he was the next candidate? WRONG AGAIN. He died as an apprentice replacing his sister. So does that mean we would have Sweetstar?? Who even knows!!
Also cats with no known siblings or only cat litters stay the same and I think this only applies to cats born in the same litter. Like Tigerstar is replaced by one of his sisters but Wind Runner has no known siblings (that I remember) even if she maybe had some so she stays
I just think it has a lot of endless possibilities, and consider, Princess replacing Firestar. Joining for a completely different reason and Firestar is the one who sticks around with his two legs (I like to think a twoleg kit moved in and they bonded and Rusty felt bad leaving so he sticks around). While Princess maybe gets convinced by Oliver and she joins Thunderclan. I just think it’d be radical!! Also the world building oh my gododododod THe- THE WORLDBUILDING! If you really want to get into it you could even go back to the beginning. Gray Wing, leader of Skyclan. Sun Shadow leader of Shadowclan. Wind Runner still runs Windclan (my Girlboss). Thunder is replaced by one of his dead siblings, rumble or lightning I think. River Ripple still runs Riverclan. Idk man I just feel it’s got that potential. GrayWingcreatorofskyclanwouldbesocoolanditwouldntevenbecalledskyclananymore
Ok ok I’m done rant over

Apprentice games anon, to resend what I basically sent again because Tumblr is stinky.
Basically the Apprentice Games are one in a generation competition in the clans to compete and basically have Olympic styled events and games between the clans. Basically set in a more harmonious timeline.
The young cats apprentices and sometimes even newly fledged warriors join to show off their skills in climbing, racing, swimming, tracking, and hunting a certain amount of time under a time limit. Even fighting! The rules to the fights are no claws but you can bite and grapple. Basically wrestling and tussling but no blood drawn. Making your opponent forfeit or ring out.
Sometimes a certain clan wins multiple times in a row, sometimes another clan will have an underdog rise to glory. Some cats take it too seriously but while others will just treat it as a game.
Sometimes loners and kittypets can be spotted in the crowds spectating and no one minds because unlike a gathering, this is an open event and on a common occasion, an apprentice can be sponsored by a kittypet.
the prizes often include; Bragging rights, The clan that wins is allowed to free reign on clan of choice territory for a moon or two. No hunting more than the fair. This is an option not a right and the other clan has to agree. They're welcome to decline.
There are food and laughter and stories to tell in the intermissions. It's like a big sports event. This is an AU inspired by @fallingstarsau
@kittypetkingdom and your Twolegplace Culture! They're all so cool! I love the whole cats learning how to cool and making their own
A clan apprentice will be often painted by other the medicine cat (or someone who knows how) in crushed flower powder to make dyes.
Thunderclan have a Sunset Fire Yellow with a lighting strike on their foreheads, Riverclan have a Blue to Purple gradient of paint with teardrop eyes, Shadowclan have nearly Blood Red paint shaped in claw-like markings under their eyes, and Windclan have Green markings painted on their bodies in shaped of swirls.
Skyclan obviously joined the games after coming back and there colors are black with a ring around their necks and a dot under the ring. Signifying their kittypet heritage but not as a mockery, but to embrace it. Yes, they're former kittypets but they bare no shame to it. ( I did think of them having pink but also idk maybe )
This is a more peaceful timeline that'll never happen but a dude can dream :')
Small bit but if Bloodclan was part of the Forest clans and became new Skyclan, they'd still have the color mark and their markings would be colored white but with spikes. They'd be like, "What are you gonna do about it huh" to instead of Skyclan's "Yeah a Kittypet so what"
This concept is such an in depth and interesting one! Not everything in Clan life needs to be all serious and they can have a bit of fun once in a while. I like the image of some Clan cat gasping and yelling that there was a Kittypet watching them only to be shut the fuck up because FrogPaw was about to do the Cat Long Jump
The stuff with the dyed fur to represent their clan is so fucking neat anon, I especially like Skyclan's paint where it resembles a collar, maybe they might even do other colors besides black. Bloodclan's hypothetical dyed fur is neat too, if only this was a peaceful version of the Clans. Maybe the games live on in Warriorclan

im in my warrior cats era BUT BUT BUT !!!
i have some Ideas for kitty cat holidays bc i saw multiple people post abt how holidays would just Help with tension and also??? holidays and traditions are just my FAVORITE part of worldbuilding like theyre so cool an interesting and ajgsjdhfkfbdkfmgng
so first i definitely want a daylight gathering time kitty olympics, yearly on the summer solstice >:)
daylight gathering just makes SO MUCH SENSE, and definitely would help as an outlet for all the clan brand nationalism and violent urges
as motive to compete/to give the winner a reward i’d prob say like three days rest :33 here you go winner kitty sleep in for three days no work for you yes eat all the food you want
making it on the summer solstice is just bc i love solstice holidays + it’s the longest day of the year, more time to compete duh!!!
next, to parallel, something on the winter solstice for sure. maybe like every cat is forbidden from sleeping — on the longest night of the year, starclan honors them by staying visible for so long, the clans must honor them im return by honoring and celebrating them where they can see!
so feasts, kitty dancing, praying, cats burying prey to offer to starclan, and the next day is a day of rest :) every tired cat sleeps all day and no one works, eating from the feast’s leftovers
i think after a cat dies, each clan should have a specific way of putting them to rest. in general, the elders and family bury them, yes, but MORE. maybe after a cat dies, their family and closest companions are given seven days away from work to honor the dead cat and do the rituals to make sure the dead cat can make their way to starclan — perhaps the explanation for ghosts that uuuhhh the fuckin tree guy (i have no read recent arcs leave me Alone) can see is because no one did their rites :( so they couldnt find starclan/the afterlife
riverclan’s definitely has to do with water, perhaps covering the cat with willow or long flowing herbs before burial, and taking one whisker and herb before covering the cat up. these could be tied together, put in the river, and followed by family on the bank until the herb is past riverclan territory. or maybe riverclan don’t bury their dead at all, but float them into the river, and follow THAT until it’s passed territory, something like that idk
i think thunderclan would include rites of planting flowers and herbs representing the dead cat above their resting place, so that their body becomes one with the forest and their spirit can go to starclan :)
shadowclan, windclan, and skyclan are left with nothing bc i have no ideas :(
BRING BACK APPRENTICES VISITING THE MOONSTONE/POOL !!!! it was so interesting and a neat cultural thing for the battle cats :(
i understand it was boring to write about but ughhhhhh cmoonnnnn it was coooooool
maybe after the dark forest Fiasco, there’s a holiday of remembrance for the dead / the cats who fought and protected the clans from Certain Doom
idea: mothers don’t name their kits until they’re a moon old, bc its bad if they’re named and die young. currently workshopping but what if named kits who die are forced to go to starclan and stay eternally as a kit, but unnamed kits have no identity so they can “recycle” like kinda try again and be born again to a new queen and have a new chance at life??? anyway not being named until 1 moon helps ensure that a name will not be wasted and lets parents know their kits personalities and traits before naming so names can realistically reflect a cat’s character instead of JUST appearance
aaaaa okay that’s all for now but maybe more will come !

Warrior cats au where bramble, tawny, hawk, and moth are all from the same tigersasha litter and each one is sent to a different clan, bramble in thunderclan, tawny in shadowclan, hawk in riverclan, and moth in windclan, Maybe there’d be something about tadpole being their fifth sibling and having been sent to skyclan idk

Idk if JUST ship/art requests are open so completely ignore this if they arent so since ive been reading the rules like.. multiple times to understand
Maybe Goosefeather x Pinestar for art requests? I need to see my pathetic kittypet old man and his transgender ghost seeing shit husband ‼️ ty for the chance love ur art sm i wanna see these guys together in ur style
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess I need to update my rules post - it IS mostly about Hypokits, sorry it was confusing Goobie! Have Extra Cats as a bonus! And a larger AU!
In the Mapleshade AU, she wanted kits but not a Husband, and Birchface agreed. Birch also introduced her to his half-brother Appledusk. He sadly dies when an unnamed Riverclan warrior knocks him into the river. Flowerpaw is stopped by Maple from jumping in. After the kits are born, Oakstar becomes suspicious, and declares Mapleshade a traitor, banishing her. Flowerpaw protests - she’s seen Maple and Birch together! - and gets banished as well. They hustle together over the river, strangely calm in the raging storm, and Appledusk meets her on the border, having heard Birch’s spirit calling him. Darkstar is somewhat understanding, but refuses to allow Mapleshade to stay, citing not wanting a war with Thunderclan. Flowerpaw suggests Maple stay at the Barn, and be allowed to visit her kits, which Darkstar agrees to. Reedshine and Appledusk adopt the kits, changing their names as a cover, and Mapleshade promises to visit at the next half-moon. During her next visit, Ravenwing, who swore to a false sign, is killed before the gathered healers when a rock falls as he goes to enter the Moonstone cave, and an owl carries him off. Oakstar blames Mapleshade, but a Riverclan patrol claims to have seen her on the border of Windclan at the time - only half a lie. Frecklewish - who attacked Maple - is bitten by the snake, but survives - doomed to the elder’s den for her short life. Eventually, as her kits grow up, Mapleshade moves on, seeing them become warriors before heading off to found a less stringent Sisters.
In the PineGoose AU, Pineclaw is aware of his relation to the Riverclan warriors, his father having spilled the proverbial beans when ill. Goosepaw is apprenticed at the proper age, and has an easier time with spirits, with a strange tortie tom warding off the worst offenders and giving him reality checks. Pineclaw and Goosefeather have their forbidden romance, and when Goose becomes pregananant, the pair nearly flee, but the tortie - Shyheart if you haven’t guessed - drags Moth Wing down to give visions of approval. Old cats Pinestar and Goosefeather move to be daylight elders when Pinestar’s legs start to fail, and Jake’s neighbors are the oddest guys! They approve of Talltail.

The more I think about it, the more I enjoy the idea of Longtail and Sandstorm being WindClan-born siblings that were moved to ThunderClan... or just them being siblings in general

So after a tad of working on potential SkyClan allegiance for my AU, this is what I got. Names aren’t set in stone at the current moment.
Surprisingly just using the “my mother said this” usage for some of the cats added enough for me at times. Only had to yoink like three cats and adjust some ages. Since there’s no telling how old each cat is (like Fallowfern, Waspwhisker, Clovertail, and the list goes on).
Now it just leaves the Leader and Deputy. Cause idk whether to do Cloudstar or Spiderstar and their respective deputies for here. Or see if I could potentially yoink more mentioned only once cats.
Family tree idea under the cut, names will be fixed up later
Snowfall becomes the parent to Blackpelt (Ebonyclaw), Whitefur (Harveymoon), and Magpieheart (Macgyver)
Ploverflower will still have Tinycloud, Rockshade, and Bouncefire
Laurelcloud and Rainheart will have Sage and Mint
Fallowfur and Frostwhisker will have Plum Nettle Rabbit and Creek
Ploverflower’s second litter will be moved to… Ebonyclaw? Maybe? Or maybe Spiderstar’s deputy should I yoink the two of em. Idk I’ll figure it out.
Leaf either has Fire, Storm and Harry with a kittypet named Billy (yeah I’m not a fan of him, not letting him join) or she has her litter with Hornet and they co-parent.
Cherrytail has her kits either solo or with either Shrewtooth or Hutch. Or maybe even Egg once he joins.
Tinycloud can still have Pebble and Parsley. But with an unknown partner.
I guess the couples after can continue to have their kids beyond this. But idk tbh 🤷 I can’t really remember anyone beyond Pebble and Parsley. I know they exist, but what their names may be idk.
No double litters of course, I’ll work to figure out the bloodlines and a way to keep it simple for myself to remember.
But timeline wise- Firefern is an apprentice and one of the journeying cats, so probably Tinycloud would be expecting her kits when they leave the Forest territory before the others. I’ll rant about the weird SkyClan timeline issue in the tag
But yeah Firefern and the others by the time they return to the Clans- SkyClan is already gone, having left thinking she was either A) Dead or B) Taken by humans. So she joins up with ThunderClan
Also debating to yoink some random cats for future warriors as well. Such as Jessy and her mother (who I HC having some SkyClan blood) aaand maybe Smoke? Idk maybe she stayed behind in the hopes to join WindClan since she and Onewhisker were a thing and she was turned away (by him).
But idk yet
Edit: I think I’m gonna include Jessy, her mother and Smoke.
Jessy will be… Briarfang, her mother will get a miscellaneous name. Smoke will be named Fogfur or something. She can be Echo’s sister perhaps?

Mr. Mallow, how do you think Riverclan would have recovered if Misty, Feather, Storm, (and I'm assuming Reed as well cause idk when he was born) choose to stay in Thunderclan after the Bloodclan battle? How do you think that would have changed Thunderclan as well?
hey nonnie!
fun fact: reedpaw is a point of intense emotion for me. in my canon, which is far more canon than anything the erins say, mistyfoot has two litters: primrosepaw, pikepaw, and perchkit, who all die before tigerclan; and reedwhisker, greymist, and rippletail, who, well, you know about them already.
so the first big thing if they stayed is that her second litter wouldn't have been born, because she wouldn't have tried to get back together with blackclaw.
i've always thought mistyfoot's decision to return to riverclan makes sense, so this is kind of a hard question for me to answer. i think leopardstar would've made...idk, has mosspelt had an apprentice? she would be a good choice for deputy. depending on who you accept as Alive in that time period in riverclan, you could make various arguments.
functionally i don't think it would've actually changed riverclan all that much. all of riverclan suffered under tigerclan: not all as obviously as the riverclan four, but certainly tigerstar didn't treat them as equals. it's brought up several times in tdh that riverclan seems to have no power and be unequal. i write post-tpb riverclan as considering themselves a victim of tigerstar, and that wouldn't change.
(i say "considering themselves" because it doesn't feel quite right to say that, and yet at the same time, they are? riverclan unquestionably suffers worse than any other clan because of him. windclan is punished by brokenstar, not tigerstar, gorsepaw withstanding, but riverclan is the clan that is directly harmed most by tigerstar. idk. a fun question for everyone to ponder: can you be both victim and perpetrator of a single crime?)
hawk and moth would have somewhat different lives. notably, i think hawk's relationship with leopardstar would've been closer. it's not really expanded on in canon, but they are mentor and apprentice, and their relationship feels like it's almost skewed? i don't know how to explain it, but there are moments where i get that impression (e.g., the fact that she makes him deputy), but there are moments where they seem like strangers. i say that maybe leaving the abandoned kits of tigerstar unsupervised with the cat with burning rage and so little trust in her clan she didn't feel safe sleeping with them was. maybe not the best idea.
(translation: i adore the relationship feathertail has to hawkfrost and mothwing that asir introduces and i expand on. i also think it's worth noting that feathertail hates leopardstar so much she almost let leopardstar die, and leopardstar was hawkpaw's mentor. so imagine the closest thing you have to a mother thinking that the other closest thing you have to a mentor is the worst cat to ever be alive. that's a hell of a conflict to place in hawkpaw and i think it yields interesting flavors to his character.)
god what is this tone i'm taking. this is what happened you called me mr mallow and suddenly here i am writing in long paragraphs with a distinct note of wow, someone really read the dictionary.
thunderclan wise, i think...eh, hard to say?
they probably wouldn't have gone on the quest. so feathertail would be alive. it would be nice to see feathertail and greystripe have to balance out some major issues in their relationship (e.g., the favoritism he shows to stormpaw, the fact that he abandoned them, etc.), which might lead to greystripe being more mature, but honestly i don't think it would've changed all that much materially.
maybe greystripe and mistyfoot would get together. she does, after all, have terrible taste in men.

hey, can i ask what your doing with sandstorm ? she’s one of my favorites in canon.
i know in better bones she’s not romantic with fireheart (bc he’s aro and that’s awesome heck yea) but he honor sires and co-parents with her. Also she’s redtail and runningflights kid and longtails sister, but i’d like to know more about her?
A thing i actually like about her that most people don’t is her sudden turn to being nice to fireheart, i mean, part of it anyways. i don’t like that in canon fireheart is just like “oh she’s nice now. hot” and doesn’t talk to her about it at all. BUT i do like that she decides to be nice to fireheart. that it’s character progression she does on her own, that it surprises fireheart.
I love the idea that as she got older, she had a moment where she realized that her animosity towards fireheart wasn’t really warranted (since she gets annoyed with how bb!dustpelt acts towards him too, maybe that’s a turing point for her here), that she dealt with her issues through self reflection, without fireheart noticing. I like the idea that she worked out most of her issues without talking to him, through her own strength, and then talks to him, apologizing and explaining why she acted like she did. and i think the catalyst, aside from dustpelt, shouldn’t be some moment like “he saves her in battle” it should just be some small act that he doesn’t even remember, that sets it all off, like giving someone their favorite food after they’ve had a really bad day, something small like that
idk i just really like sandstorm being able to deal with her issues on her own strength, showing how she’s matured, sorry for the wall of text lol
I feel you totally, this is all stuff I like about her too
100% of my problems with canon Sandstorm come from her mateship with Firestar, and the way the Erins write downright insufferable romance. I can't even have the satisfaction of being harsh towards FireSand, because it's one of the best in the cesspool of canon warrior ships.
She's great in Fire and Ice though! Something I really like about that book is how Fireheart is struggling with the question of if Clan life is really worth it, between Graystripe's distancing, the murder plot thickening, and still not fully fitting in with ThunderClan. Sandstorm is an extension of the entire Clan warming up to him, as he finally finds his place.
And something else I love, and think the romance plot gets in the way of, is how Sandstorm has her own mind and opinions. She's actually quite "traditionalist," distrustful of outsiders and unwilling to defy Bluestar’s will to stop war with WindClan. I like this about her! I think it's interesting that she isn't just Fireheart's waifu!
And that's the role I want her to have in Better Bones. She ALWAYS thinks for herself. She's an introspective and serious cat, a lot like her dad Redtail. Losing him was devastating to her, but she eventually asked herself: why DO I act like this towards Fireheart? Does he actually deserve it?
Eventually, her and Firestar are deep friends. See, Longtail is Firestar's DEPUTY, he doesn't go to him when he has a weird dream, he doesn't go for a walk in the woods and pop some rowanberries with him, he doesn't tell him about that time he tried to date Onewhisker. That's what he does with Sandstorm.
And eventually she wanted kits, and felt like doing that with her best friend was the best option. He'd raise furballs if it wasn't for her balancing his influence out.
But that aside, I enjoy her as a reliable but not ambitious warrior. She's close with her brother Longtail, lifelong friends with Dustpelt after he comes around, and a great mentor to Sorreltail

I dare you to make an AU of Darkkit/paw/tail joining the Clans and a) instantly getting carried away by a hawk or b) falling off a cliff instead of Smokepaw
(warning: I didn't read Onestar's Confession but I've read his confession in... Shattered Sky? Maybe?)
Smoke brings Darkkit to him. Onewhisker admits that he's got a kit with a kittypet and Tallstar is like "fuck it, Firestar was born a kittypet so why not" and lets him in.
Darkkit is carried during the great journey, by Onewhisker mainly because no one else wants to touch him with a ten tail-lengths pole. He is taken by an eagle, dies of cold or falls of a cliff.
Now one might wonder what we're doing an AU with if he dies almost immediately. But the fact he was in the picture for a while puts a few things in motion.
First, no one trusts Onewhisker since he just admitted to breaking the code. Maybe Tallstar himself doesn't trust him anymore. That means Mudclaw stays the deputy of WIndclan, and becomes leader as Mudstar.
Second, Whitetail doesn't become his mate. She just discovered that the tom she idealized was a codebreaker and she doesn't want to get with him when he's grieving his lost girlfriend and dead son.
Whitetail x Onewhisker not being an item mean no Heathertail.
No Heathertail (or no Heathertail born around the same time as Lionblaze and apprenticed at the same time as him) mean no TunnelClan or whatever they called it, and so:
- No half Wind half River kits getting lost in it. No rescue, no Fallen Leaves and all.
- No Hollyleaf going into them. (she probably leaves through the outter edge of the territories and becomes a loner)
- Probably no going back in time for Jayfeather (in order to keep the butterfly effect manageable we’ll pretend the ancient cats did leave the lake to go to the mountains anyway)
- No Windclan attack in the Forgotten Warriors.
Blossomfall and Ivypool do fall in the tunnels at some point. But they die there.
I guess that means Thornclaw and Birchfall fight for the Dark Forest. They are killed in the battle. Dovewing leaves for Shadowclan as soon as the battle is over, because she lost her dad and her sister and her only kin is now her mother, and she doesn’t mind losing her kin by leaving the clan and has less kin to lose than in canon.
Skyclan is not chased off their home. Hawkwing and Pebbleshine raise their daughters together and have a second litter. Violetshine is not named after her mother who’s alive so probably more like Violetdapple or Violetpelt. Twigbranch and Finleap get together without changing clans, Violet and Tree never meet. Violet’s kits with someone else are not named after Root and Needletail since she doesn’t know them. If needed for the plot, Alderheart could still have his vision, but since Skyclan is not in danger...
ShadowLightPounce are born by the time Darktail should have arrived but doesn’t. Shadowclan implodes and Dove, Tiger, Tawny, Rowan, and kits go to Thunderclan. Through the same kind of complicated diplomacy and population displacements as in canon, Shadowclan becomes whole again after some members left to become rogues (but, without the Kin, they don’t really amount to anything, and without Skyclan, there’s less territory disputes).
Shadowsight is a full medicine cat by the time Leafpool would have died if the clans had had a reason to meet the Sisters, and the Moonpool freezes. He’s experienced and doesn’t let the Impostor lead him on. Bramblestar’s mysterious sickness kills him, probably, idk, but the impostor (who i refuse to name even if I think 100% of the fandom know who he is but as long as I’m not through the arc I wont name him!) cannot enter his body. Also afaik from lurking the wiki and the fandom he had something to do with the impossibility to contact Starclan so well the impostor’s efforts are for naught.
As far as the not-meeting-the-sisters go, Sparkpelt and her kits, Berrynose, and all the other cats with the same “sickness” as Larksong all die of that illness. Eventually, Tree crosses their path and tells them about the plant.
don’t know more of canon so gonna stop there.
TL;DR: if Darkkit had been taken in Windclan and then died during the great journey, Mudclaw would have become Windclan’s leader, Birchfall would have been killed during the great battle and the Sisters would never have met the clans.

If Flamepaw pulls a complete evil Bristlefrost that would be awesome and make him more bearable. Can't really stand his whiney ass at the moment but if he went sorta evil? Yes!
Idk about giving evil Flamepaw predictions before Sky because we don't know the big bad yet AND i think he had barely any time in River to actually flesh him out (it was so short) BUT
I think he could be an antag figure, and I'd like him to I guess but i just don't really see it. He's insecure but not insecure enough to shut the fuck up. He could def cause problems with cats who are uncertain about the changes/not changing so prefer to take the easy route and just abandon it all- who cares about a code of honour if you just don't live by one- who cares about feeling uncertain about the world if you just don't care. His insecurity about being called out for actually caring about being a good warrior when he is a failure of one (failed assessment I guess?) doesn't need to exist if he just publicly announces he doesn't care. Like when you break up with someone and you just don't care so you're posting on twitter than you definitely don't care! I don't care about the haters in my DMs!! God!! you're all such losers I dont care lol - he's already prone to outbursts so him being an annoying shit and stiring up trouble at Gatherings, then getting banned from Gatherings, thne being an annoying shit in ThunderClan- a shockjock type- could be interesting. He's not got the skill of Jayfeather or Yellowfang (etc) to make his outburts tolerable. Exile (mirroring Sparkpelt's?) to another Clan (SkyClan?), where he secretly thinks he's gonna totally fit in more now he's out of ThunderClan and away from the legacy that is dragging him down but realises they don't like him and he's an asshole and made a mistake, could be interesting + let us see another Clans POV (the Sky-Shadow conflict that is hinted at imho). 'Redemption' in undoing the anti-code rhetoric he's helped stir up and working harder to be a better person.
I know the Erins are probably gonna make him a super good warrior (wins fights hunts great etc) because their only characteristic for 'bad warrior' is failing an assessment but god please actually make him a burden on the Clan. can't hunt, can't fight, gets his ass kicked by WindClan apprentices- he can pretend to brush it off by saying he wasn't actually trying lol do you actually try against apprentices?- would actually be interesting. don't shove him to the med den, make him actually fucking useless because he doesnt try to improve his skills.
But again, I don't think he's got the charisma or drive to actually make real change in the narrative. He'll just whine and let things happen to him- which could be interesting if the other characters point it out etc. i legit think he could be interesting, insecure about his legacy and how he will live up to it when he feels like no one loves, wants, or believes in him , however a) all his pain is literally self inflicted (yes cats bring up that hes related to firestar but its so obvious its "don't feel bad about yourself you have good blood just have more faith :)!" and not "fucking waste of space you") which makes him a lot harder to like, b) he has no drive and is just bitter for bitter's sake. i may have read him wrong but he doesn't seem like he wants to be a good person or try, hes just a cunt lol, c) the Clans could be seen to be 'throwing the past away'.
Again we're only on book1 but an antag-ish role would be fitting
TL:DR he has 30 year old son who doesn't get a job or go to school vibes. maybe he's afraid of failing or whatever but he's already failing so he's just gonna keep failing harder and harder.
