(So if you ever wanted to learn how Klaus would be as a parent, please enjoy this snippet from a Discord rp with the OC Ana, written by @blackmxgickwoman !!!! )
Diego Owns My Soul  🗡🗡11/24/2020
She hates this new school. The teachers are boring. The kids are rude. And frankly, Ana would rather be anywhere but there. It's not hard to get out. Permission to go to the bathroom. Phase. Out the wall, off to wherever. Today, she's snagged some snacks from a convenience store and found her way to  the local library where she can manage to learn things she's actually interested in. All she has to do is get back to school on time and no one will know. Unfortunately for her, someone's noticed and called her father to let him know that...Ana's disappeared from school. Again.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Klaus ♥11/25/2020
Klaus is still getting used to having to answer the phone.  He's still getting used to accounting for anyone beyond himself, in a world in which he no longer has addiction to fall back upon as an armor, a numbing mechanism, a way to enforce boundaries he's never been granted.  He's still getting used to having a preteen daughter who needs him, but, he thinks, when the labyrinthine maze of his brain allows him to think in a linear fashion, he's not doing so badly.  This truancy thing, however....that's the bit he can't surmount. Yes, he can find Ana even when she phases, but he knows from experience that a too authoritarian parental hand only produces resentment and further rebellion.  So he hangs up his cell--furbished for him by Five, the only real father figure Klaus himself has ever had--sighs, drags his palms down his face, and emits the sort of sound that usually only comes out of a constipated goat. "Fuuuuuuuuuu-CK," he whisper-shrieks, stands and finds his Converse, and goes out into the RUDELY cold November afternoon toward his daughter's usual haunts.
Diego Owns My Soul  🗡🗡11/27/2020
The library is luckily not as busy as normal. Ana prefers it that way. Quiet, empty....it's like her own little world. Tucked away in probably the least visited corner of the library, she's tucked in a dark space reading through medieval building methods, eating hot cheetos and at peace. Every so often, she glances at the clock to check the time and peeps around to make sure no one's coming. It's during one of those times that she spots him coming up the stairs.  "Shit...." she whispers under her breath quickly gathering her stuff and scurrying down an aisle opposite his direction. She's just got to keep away from her father and get to the door and she'll have plenty of time to get away. She can do that. Easy. Right?
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Klaus ♥11/30/2020
Klaus's whole lovely fey face scrunches up in to an expression of utter consternation.  "ANA!" he scream-whispers, stops and stomps a Converse-clad food. "ANA. Shit...."  But he didn't spend every year of his life from 17 on in the streets and in various drug dens without learning how to run very quickly and very erratically.  "Scuse me, sorry, nice reading choice...pardon.....scuse me--!" he apologizes profusely while weaving through the stacks and taking a shortcut outside and up the fire escape. "OH, you little SHIT!" he hisses as he books it toward where she ran.
Diego Owns My Soul  🗡🗡11/30/2020
She hears the commotion rather than sees it and doesn’t let up. She does have the advantage that she can run through the bookshelves and takes advantage of that before taking off down the stairs and out the front.  Okay, maybe she shouldn’t have ran. Now that she’s outside and thinking, she’s starting to realize that might not have been the best option. But she doesn’t feel like getting in trouble yet or going back to school so....what else was she supposed to do. Looking around, she decides to run across the street to the drugstore. Maybe she can bide her time in there and he’ll leave. If she’s lucky.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Klaus ♥Today at 4:34 PM
"I CAN STILL SEE YOU!" comes Klaus's exasperated cry, as he spins and gives chase back down the stairs. "HHAHHHH, fuck! And I do cardio, Jesus on a Pogostick!"
Panting, forced to yield simply to her younger age, he gives hot pursuit--and finds himself rolling across the dashboard of a car crossing the street. He hops off. "PLEASE! Go ahead, man, I CRAVE the favor!" he snaps at the bewildered driver, finishing it off with an "up your ass" gesture before limping on across the street.  He pauses, hip jutted out, and jiggles a leg while examining the row of shops. What would I do? he ponders, sort of grimly accepting that this is some karmic payback for shit he pulled at Ana's age.  Drugstore. Drugstore. . Candy, junk food, cigarettes.  Certain otc meds that offer a cheap high.  Useless trinkets that bring stupid levels of joy, like hair ties, magazines, and cheap nail polish.  Yep.  He hops in, on one foot. "Ana," he addresses the entire blinking, confused store, "I'm not gonna yell at you, or anything. Can we just t . . . talk? Sorry. Hi. No, no autographs. No, please. Daughter stuff. Scuse me."  He darts down an aisle. "Come on, honey, please. " He blinks at himself. While he's no stranger to giving affectionate terms and pet names, that "honey" slid out so naturally that it alarms him.  Paternal instinct? In MY psyche? More likely than you'd think....
Diego Owns My Soul  🗡🗡Today at 4:54 PM
Honestly, all of this has just been....too much for Ana. She hates that she's been forced to change her entire life. She hates her school. She hates all of this and she knows that Klaus is trying to look out for her. Knows he's trying to dad her but honestly....he's not that good at it and she doesn't need a parent. She can look out for herself. She can find for herself. SHe's good. She's fine. Settling in a corner, she pulls out the book she'd swiped to start reading when she hears his voice again. Well, shit.  Looking around, she spots the employees only door and knows that there's definitely a back door through there. All she has to do is get from one end to the other without him seeing her. At least, like this, she doesn't think he can actually catch her. She doesn't think he knows how to actually touch a ghost. She hopes he doesn't. Standing, she takes a moment to make sure the coast was clear and starts to sneak in the other direction hoping he doesn't notice her from wherever he is in the store.  Maybe it's time for her to just....say okay and face up. She'll have to get in trouble and he's not giving up on her. Sighing, she sneaks up behind him and crosses her arms. "I'm not going to school."
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Klaus ♥Today at 5:15 PM
"HOH, CHR...ist...!" He jumps a mile, thanks PTSD, and slowly pivots to face her.
"...yeah, I figured."  Yes, he's bad at it.  At consistency, and obligation.  But nobody tries harder to love someone in his orbit than Klaus, and hopefully that makes up for some of his failings.  "But that's not ......that's not a dealbreaker...for me, okay?"  He glances around, at the gathering crowd. God.  All through his childhood, there was always a gawking audience of two kinds: the ghosts, and the Academy's unbalanced, devoted fans.  Privacy, boundaries, they're unobtainable to him, and therefore, sacred. He pulls out his phone and texts her:  [Do you wanna go talk about this somewhere else?]

listen to me — chapter 17
LISTEN TO ME  — 0017
listen to me masterlist;
WORDS: 1.8K
Tumblr media
The next morning, Jinah's mood was below zero.
It had taken her too long to sleep the night before and, as if that weren't enough, she had been awakened three times in the middle of the night. The first was when she thought she heard a noise in the kitchen; the second to have forgotten to put the phone in the muffler, which resulted in a series of unnecessary notifications of Twitter and a message from the operator bothering her ears and interrupting her rest with several irritating beeps. Finally, the last time was due to a senseless nightmare added to that awful sensation of awakening as if falling from a precipice. Since then, Jinah was angry and couldn't sleep. It's right to say that monday wouldn't be a good day for her.
"I need to go to the library to get a book my professor asked for" Chan said, as the four friends were passing the University campus. There were still a few good minutes left for the first class, but they preferred to go to their respective buildings earlier to avoid the commotion. "Can someone go with me?"
"Have you forgotten how to walk alone?" Jinah grunted without thinking and only realized how rude she'd sounded when she watched his friend's eyebrows rise in her direction. "Sorry."
"I can't even remember the last time I've seen you so angry," Changbin said. "You're spending a lot of time with Jisung, huh?"
"You wake up in a bad mood almost every day and I never complain or talk bullshit about" Jinah rolled her eyes painfully. "I'm just tired of not sleeping well, can't I?"
"At ease," Jade replied. "I'll go to the library with you, Chan."
The blond boy nodded and Changbin was quick to say that he'd also accompany them. When she saw herself alone, Jinah sighed and couldn't help but feel guilty. She hated being rude to people, especially to her best friends, but there were days when she simply didn't wake up with patience to deal not even with herself. She decided, then, that she'd be quiet for as long as she could, so she wouldn't risk annoying anyone else. And although eventually waking up with the affected state of mind was normal in anyone's life, Jinah still felt terrible.
                                                         ♡˖°
For Changbin, libraries were the best and most complete sample of paradise on earth.
He was enchanted by all those covers, from the colored, the simple, the dark, the new, the worn, the beautiful or even the most peculiar. Being in the middle of so many bookshelves packed with hundreds of different stories brought him, beyond an inexplicable peace, the certainty that he couldn't have chosen a better course than Literature. Changbin loved books and everything that could be related to them. He found it incredible to be able to imagine scenarios and faces across the lines, to understand all the feelings that the authors wanted to convey with their well-placed words, to feel within the events that made up the narratives. It was as if he were floating, stepping on clouds.
However, it wasn't quite this internal tranquility that Seo felt as he entered the library that day.
When he saw the two pitifully familiar figures standing by the counter, it was as if a truck dumped a ton of concrete on his back. All his muscles tightened and his expression, rather mild, turned into a scowl similar to the one Jinah held a few minutes ago, while in his mind a single doubt called for an answer: what is this idiot doing here?
"Josh?" Jade's eyes widened when she recognized him, and a broad grin decorated her face almost immediately. The one whose turn turned and also smiled, then enveloped the american in a tight hug. Changbin wanted to die.
Lee Joshua — or just Josh, as some people called him (Changbin usually called him Satan) — was Jade's ex-boyfriend and had been her first in everything: first friend, first kiss, first love, first time and so on goes the list. The girl who was with him was Kirsten Jeon, who just because she was an almost sister to Josh made Changbin nourish a certain rancor for her porcelain doll face and black hair. The three had become extremely close as children, when Jade, after moving from USA, lived in the UK for a few years and met them at the new school. So far so good, because soon Kang returned to move, moving to South Korea, and ended up losing contact with the dynamic pair — which would bring a good drama if considered all the sadness that accompanied the end of the relationship with Josh and everything if it hadn't been for Satan and his loyal follower to have relatives in Seoul, and months later, had appeared by surprise for a little visit.
At that time, Changbin and Jade were still getting to know each other. Jinah and Chan were already friends, but they hadn't yet definitively entered their lives, although Seo had a little intimacy with the two because they attended the same class in the third year of high school. But returning to the main focus, Changbin fell in love with Jieun gradually — which we can agree, wasn't difficult at all — and their relationship, initially being named as friendship — would've evolved into something bigger, but Josh had to appear sundelly and complicate everything. It was from that moment that Changbin started hating him.
Because he knew that, whether he wanted or not, Josh was very important in Jade's life, and his biggest fear was not being enough to become important either.
"What are you doing here? Are you here to stay?" the american was a mess of shining eyes and easy smiles. "Hi, Kirsten!" she exclaimed as her gaze fell on the brunette and gave her a hug. "If it was to surprise me, know you guys have done it again!"
"Yeah, we came to stay this time" Josh looked at Jieun as if she were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. "I wanted to call you to tell you that we asked to transfer to this University, but I didn't have your number and, from what I noticed, you changed your address."
"No problem, what matter is that you guys are here" and as if Jade had finally realized that her boyfriend and her friend were standing there like statues, she tried to introduce them to the conversation. "Do you guys remember Chan and Changbin?"
"Of course." Kirsten smiled friendly at both of them. "It's good to see you guys again."
If Changbin opened his mouth, surely a "wish I could say the same" would pour through it, so he decided to let Chan respond in a more polite way. His eyes met Josh's for an instant and the last one, aware that Seo had started dating Jieun some time after his last visit to the country — he couldn't help stalking the american girl's social medias from time to time —, lifted one eyebrow, as if calling for a confrontation.
Hell was officially back.
                                                       ♡˖°
Of all the people in the world, Jisung was the last one who could question someone's bad mood, but it was difficult to work that day.
He even tried to keep his attention on the computer and his arduous task of organizing the system — this being the last thing the store owner asked him to do before he left definitely to start his internship at a publishing house —, but this was being complicated with Changbin cleaning the shelves as if he wanted to break them in half. The force Seo applied on the cloth made the glass shiver.
Jisung opened his lips and closed them again three times, uncertain whether to ask what was happening or leave him mulling over his obvious anger alone. However, when a little packet containing an earphone fell to the ground and a curse escaped from the elder's mouth, followed by another and another, Jisung was forced to take some action.
"Changbin, what's this?" he asked at a safe distance from the boy, fearing he might be the target of the same violence that he had put on the poor shelves. "Is everything okay?"
"Of course not! How could everything be okay with Satan walking around?!" he replied in a furious way. It was too hate to fit within only 5’6″ tall. "He's very much mistaken if he thinks he's going to get the best this time, because I'm going to punch him first!"
Jisung's eyes widened. He said Seo was as scary as dark and the others still had the courage to disagree, and at that very moment he was calling the devil himself into the fight.
"I don't think you're having a good day."
"If you hadn't said, I wouldn't even notice!" Changbin replied ironically and, snorting, threw the cloth to the floor and stomped out to the warehouse, then slamming the door hard. Jisung ran his hand down the back of his neck. First Jinah, who hadn't even looked in his face earlier; now Changbin, who seemed enraged even with his own shadow. What was missing?
"What the hell." Jeonghan came into the store cursing softly, past Han like a wind and heading to the back of the counter. Jisung's first impression of Yoon was that he was a quiet and calm person, but later discovered that Jeonghan was a rebel who hated anything that moved; soon, watching him lose his temper had already turned into something normal.
"What are you doing here?" Jisung couldn't help but ask. "Today isn't your day to come work."
"It turns out that the madams," he referred to Jisung and Changbin, who was still locked in the back of the shop. "leave this week and the boss has already hired new people to do the replacement."
"And?"
"Who's going to have to babysit and teach things, it's me!" he replied as if it were obvious. "They'll be there shortly. My patience is so short it almost doesn't exist, how wrong is that going to be?"
"Maybe they're not even that bad." Jisung shrugged. He was no one to say that Jeonghan should be less bitter, but perhaps the company of new people would even do well for Yoon. "You can end up becoming friends."
"I doubt it very much. I don't even know these Jisoo and Seungcheol, but I already say I don't like them. "
Han had nothing to say. In his opinion, that was a day when the universe was completely unbalanced and everyone seemed to be on edge.
Except for him, as incredible as it might seem.

The Impossibly Chic Chyka Weekender!
The Impossibly Chic Chyka Weekender!
Homes
by Lucy Feagins, Editor
Chyka and Bruce Keebaugh’s magnificent Mornington Peninsula weekender! Outdoor lounges, tables and chairs, wooden planters and lanterns from Restoration Hardware. Wicker baskets from Rose Street Trading. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
‘When we bought the house, only the left side was there. We felt the house looked unbalanced so when drawing up the plans we wanted to balance it out. We used the same colourbond steel and existing design features as we wanted it to look like it had always been like this, and not a new extension. We were so lucky with our builder as he had done the original renovation the year before so was across all the finishes and colours we needed. I love the dark tones of this house against all the greenery’, Chyka explains. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
Chyka and Bruce are co-founders of massive Australian hospitality and party throwing company, The Big Group. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
The family wanted big, comfortable outdoor couches to sit on amongst the backdrop of trees and the vegetable garden behind. The stonework by local stonemasons was a big part of this design – ‘they were amazing to work with’, Chyka says. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
The outdoor area is one of Chyka’s favourite places. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
This room was originally a gallery and didn’t really work for Bruce and Chyka. They decided to double the width and turn the colour scheme black – they wanted it to look dramatic, so peaked the ceiling to add the drama with three antler chandeliers. The room is light and bright thanks to the doors to the courtyard. The couch and chairs were old ones they recovered. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
‘We love the idea of the dining table working as an entrance table too’, Chyka tells, ‘I always fill the large vase with whatever is in seasonally, and because the space is neutral it can take any colour or style.’ The photo on the wall is of Capri by Bill Henson. Light, table, and chairs are from Restoration Hardware. Black bench from House of Orange. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
The corner nook of the kitchen, which is ‘forever changing’. ‘I love creating little stories everywhere, but always keeping it in the theme of neutral colours and textures, and with a pop of fresh colour’, Chyka says. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
The kitchen, and the hub of the house. Where the long shelf now sits there was originally a large window, which Bruce and Chyka had to fill in for the renovation. Without the view they needed to create a bit of a WOW wall backdrop. ‘I love having my things on display, and to me this is the perfect place for them all to be. I change this regularly as I like things to constantly evolve’, Chyka says. Clock from Restoration Hardware. Wooden stands and lamps from Provincial Home Living. Marble pumpkins from Durance. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
This is the area called the mushroom as it leads off the garage and laundry. ‘I’m an eclectic person who loves layering, so the idea of creating a space to hang all my baskets and display some gardening bits and pieces sings to my heartstrings’. Table from Restoration Hardware. Knick-knacks from family travels. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
Couch from Restoration Hardware. Coffee table from Provincial Living. Side table from Canvas and Sasson. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
Bruce and Chyka lined the gallery with bookshelves, and added the drama with black covered books. For weeks Chyka sourced books from about 30 different charity shops – there’s around 2,800 books in total! ‘Whenever friends come over and ask what they can bring, I ask for more books!’ Chyka says.  Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
Chyka’s incredible bathroom shelving! ‘We had a funny wall that we didn’t really know what to do with. I love to display things, so this became just that – a set of shelves to put extra soaps and creams plus glass cannisters filled with all the essentials. I also use this a great way to store towels etc.’ says Chyka. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
This bathroom runs off Chyka and Bruce’s bedroom, so they kept it in the same neutral tones. The lights are all on dimmers so that they can create whatever mood they feel. Marble tiles from Signorino. Bathroom sinks designed and built with a local cabinet maker. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
The master bedroom – ‘a sanctuary of calmness’. The colours were kept neutral as the big windows are the main attraction. Chyka loves a bath, and it had to have a view, so putting it in the bedroom rather than the bathroom was the perfect place. Mirror, table from Manon Bis. Bed, side tables and draws from Restoration Hardware. Photo – Amelia Stanwix.
Chyka and Bruce Keebaugh weren’t particularly looking for a holiday home, when they stumbled across this Mornington Peninsula property on Instagram one evening. Chyka explains ‘I saw it on instagram… we went to see the house on the Monday, and bought it the following Saturday.’
The stunning home wasn’t always this sleek, though. As Chyka explains, ‘before being recently renovated by the previous owner, it was originally purple and yellow!’ Since moving in, she and Bruce worked closely to redecorate, and make the place their own. They were keen to retain the ‘look and feel of the place’ while extending the home and refining the materials palette. They extended and created a grand master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and dressing room, as well as introducing a large family TV room (with hidden bar!) on the ground level. Extensive work was also undertaken outside, with landscaping by Paul Bangay rounding out the new pool and entertaining area, complete with an outdoor fireplace.
The interiors employ a neutral, pared back palette, as Chyka explains ‘I am someone who loves knick knacks, so I really tried to make this space simple.’ She describes the aesthetic as inspired by Nordic design, but with her own personal twist. She highlights ‘I love that this house has such calming colours, we have one black space, our library,  that I call the spine of the home, and the other spaces are all neutrally toned.’
For Chyka and Bruce, this impressive weekend retreat is the culmination of a lifetime of hard work. In addition to enjoying the serene interiors and impressive grounds of their new home, Chyka enthuses about the luxury of being able to simply ‘get away’.  ‘We have never had a holiday house before, and I absolutely love the feeling of driving down the road, opening the gate and knowing we are a world away, in our gorgeous little slice of heaven.’ Surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards and orchards – this home is indeed a dream escape for one very accomplished couple!

Bookcase
“A set of shelves for books set in a surrounding frame or cabinet.”
This dictionary definition of a bookcase quickly shows us how we are evolving as a society.  For those who do still relish the feel and smell of some pulp fiction, do you have bookcases dedicated entirely to the storage of these treasures?  If not, what are you doing with the empty bookshelves?
Perhaps you are like we are and currently do not have a single book on a bookcase in our home.
Does this mean we don’t have books?  No, everyone in our household has an e-reader crammed full with novels, audio books, newspapers and more magazine subscriptions than we can read each month.  This method of storage of reading material works very well for us.  It’s easier to read regardless of the lighting with an e-reader.  Traveling with a lot of material is a breeze and we all know how many books we can archive in something that is smaller than a single hardback book.  We still have a few cookbooks, photo books and the occasional hardback gifted to us that are scattered around to get our paper fix.
Does this mean we don’t have any bookcases?  No, we have several tall, open shelf “bookcases” we use for invaluable storage in closets.  We have open shelves in our cooks/coffee pantry.  Remember the post Do You Dread Opening Your Pantry Door? All of us use bookcase like shelves everyday when we open our kitchen and bath cabinet doors.  The concept of accessible storage is nothing new and will be with us for years to come.  However, having bookcases for books only is waning.
We All Love The Look Of A Built In Bookcase
But, man oh man, none of us can pass up the hundreds of design photos that make us stop the scrolling and drool over a built in bookcase.  Just like this swing in the photo above, we don’t always “need” a bookcase but we “want” them anyway!  When we inherit them in a new house, do we always know what to do with them?
Designers Love Custom Made Bookcases
Oh yes, we love to design and have custom open shelving built for our clients.  Perhaps where our design firm is a little different from others is that when we suggest a unit it is because we know exactly how we want a client to use it.  In the project above, see the entire remodel project here, our client had a collection of items from her families apothecary business and many serving pieces she uses when she entertains.  The unit is impressive itself by its size and is such a conversation starter with all the interesting pieces.  Guests watching her pull off a platter and serve dinner walk away with a new appreciation of “use what you love and love how you store it”!
What To House On Open Bookcases
Last year we had the pleasure of working with a couple renovating a ranch style home in what I’d call a residential, country setting.  What they accomplished is more than a renovation.  They have given this home a new life.  Their talented carpentry helped them achieve one of their dreams of using some of the barn’s wood for a feature wall.  Enter a beautiful pair of flanking bookcases you see in the before photos above and enlarged in the photo below.
Yes! I Need Help “Staging” My Bookcases.
We get asked to “stage” bookcases, or bookshelves, in every project where these puppies are part of the architecture.  Notice we said “stage”.  This is because too many are watching Tv shows where homes are staged.  Staged to sell has somehow morphed into staged to live.  We find clients rushing to mass home stores and buying enough to fill up these coveted bookcases.  While some of this may be fun, most of the time it leaves unbalanced shelves housing items with little meaning.
We Want Your Bookcases To Be Full Of Memories
Motivational Monday
We want you to stop staging and start “styling” your bookcases with items that mean something to you.  Items that make you smile each time you look at them.  Items you can share the history with others and yes, items that you will actually use.  What?  But that’s not what we see in all the design magazines and online resources.  Maybe all you need is to virtually hire us and post your own photos?  This is exactly what our gracious clients are allowing us to show you today.
Take a peek at some of the personal items we added to the bookcases above.  Our client is interested in aviation.  In a drawer were these old instruments.  A design delight for dimension, color and unusual shape.  A personal joy listening to him tell me all about the history of these pieces.
Next we relocated a pair of clocks from the mantle and our client quickly gathered his grandfather’s watch to complete 101 of styling of using collections of like items.
After less than an hour of “shopping” the boxes, cabinets and closets that housed things so eagerly waiting to take an important place, above are close ups of the newly styled bookcases that flank the barn wood wall.  Family photos are displayed to enjoy.  Empty frames are in place for scale and balance and can be filled when the right photo comes along.  Baskets are in place for “stuff” and containers hold vacation memories.  These shelves are now ready to change and evolve over the years.
Bookcases Styled With Meaningful Treasures
Every so often a design oppotunity will simply present itself.  This time the design element was too cool not to show you in more detail.  Our clients quickly got into the idea of personalizing their bookcases and showed me a family member’s old radio.  The radio is only a case now and did not have working parts.  Look closely.  Now it has the latest in technology and produces amazing sounds.  See the Sonos unit behind it that is about the same size?  Of course you don’t!  Because all you are looking at it that vintage radio you are admiring as you listen to both the music and the story behind this styling element.

y’know what like... design thing? architectural thing? that really gets on my nerves? doors placed right next to the adjacent wall. bc when the door is right next to a wall you can’t use that wall or floorspace for anything functional. bc it gets in the way of the door opening. so like, i have this 2 1/2 ft space behind the door that i can’t really put anything in. and i can’t even really put anything in the other 3 feet of that wall/floorspace between there and my closet door bc it looks fucking weird and unbalanced. right now i have a bunch of purses hanging on the wall, ones that p much lie flat against it, and i could put art there i suppose, but i don’t have enough art or big enough art to fill up that space. and it still wouldn’t be functional.
and like, a lot of furniture is designed to go against walls.  with some exceptions (like using a bookcase w/o a back as a room divider), bookcases and shelving work best against walls.  i can't really just stick a bookcase in the middle of my room.  it would look strange and it would get in the way.  i would run into it and knock the damn thing over.  most furniture that "floats" in a room is like, seating and it’s associated surfaces.  so like, your dining set.  your couch/loveseat/chairs and the coffee/end/console tables associated with your living space.  even beds are usually against a wall at the head of the bed and sometimes on one side.  some desks float alright, but i've only got 115 sq ft of space in here and a desktop computer w/ a bunch of cords that hang out the back.  even if i could put something like a shelf in front to block the view of the cords, i would still have to have at least one cord that ran across the open space to a wall outlet.
but if there were just a foot of space between the doorframe and the wall, i could put bookshelves there, or wall shelves.  i could have a bench or an ottoman or something, a shoe rack, a clothing rack, all kinds of functional things might fit in that foot of space. i could almost keep the same layout and the same stuff i have now, and just... be able to add all that stuff. the only thing i would have to change is that my desk would be a little too wide for the remaining space on the other side of the door, so i’d have to get a bit smaller desk. it aggravates me so much to think about all the functionality i could gain out of that foot of space.

Blue from the Wolverine MC is coming soon, he has a secret that no one knows, but the thing about secrets is that it doesn't stay hidden for long, and when it is revealed will his club, his pack still accept him? 🐺Revenge🐺 Wolverine MC book 4 By Alexi Ferreira Universal Preorder Link https://books2read.com/RevengeWolverineMC 🐺BLUE🐺 My music calms the anger that is a constant companion in my life, its the only thing that gave me a sem blance of normality. That is, until Siena explodes into my life unbalancing the fine line of sanity that I have. Her spontaneity and trustful nature baffle me. Her way of only seeing the good in others is like a ray of sun shining in the darkness. The minute I met her I knew she was my mate, the calm to my storm, but how can I trust her when she keeps disappearing? 🌻SIENA🌻 How can someone be so filled with rage, so untrusting of others? I have followed Blue's career from the very beginning, his music talks to me like nothing else does. I have felt a pull towards him that was obsessive, but after getting the chance of finally meeting him I wasn't going to turn it down, but how do I help him when he is suspicious of my every action? I try be good as can be, but it's the other side I see. Some in the shadows, others in the sun. Either it's a rose or the barrel of a gun.
