#misc.txt #you do not need to read the tags on this post its very rambly #also please dont rb this!!!!! #i will block you if you do #i was reading a paper about how someone mapped aborigines land that was actually used in a land dispute #that helped australian aborigines reclaim land from the government #and like. god. what the fuck am i doing #my thesis is incredibly niche and technocratic and i only agreed to doing it #to further my programming/technical skills #but like for fucks sake. it fucking sucks and my supervisor is an incredibly wealthy white woman #who has deeply reactionary politics #that i wasnt aware of until i started the program but honestly i shouldve known #anyway i just. i want to actually use academia to be as useful to the world as possible #but i dont know what that means! if that means housing or indigenous rights or labour or what #but its not this #i miss doing activism i miss actually helping people #university took over everything in my life and now all i do is go to seminars and talk about how like #racism is bad or whatever #its so bougie and useless #and also on a more selfish note #completing my masters with this work will hurt my ability to study more radical and important subjects #in like a PhD program if i decide to go that far #i am just. at a loss at what to do
