Ex-wife!Rosie x Reader Headcanons —

a/n — I don’t have a full grasp on Rosie as a character yet because i’ve never officially written for her so keep that in mind!

warnings — established relationship, but like established breakup, mentions of smut, kinda f!reader implied but like??? not rlly? NOT PROOFREAD!!!

summary — Rosie is the readers ex-wife and the relationship is very complicated!

Basically i’ve just had this idea in my head for a while of being ex-wives with Rosie, but where the divorce is the least complicated part of your relationship.

In other words, bitter ex-wives who fight lots and occasionally have passionate sex. 

No because if placed in the same room as Rosie, imagine the playful bickering with increasingly passive aggressive undertones. 

Like imagine literally dropping something and Rosie smiling with an affectionate, “Ah, still a clutz as always!” “Rosie, still just as chatty. Somethings never change.” 

And then that will slowly turn into “And that’s another thing, y/n, you never picked up your jacket. Always leaving it on the floor—“

 “—Oh please Rosie, you wanna talk about a mess? Let’s talk about the demon heads in our fridge!”

See, Rosie considers herself a nice person, and to be fair, it is. 

But it was also fair to say there was a certain amount of resentment stored around you, and if you tease her first, hey, it’s fair game. 

The back-and-forth remarks between the two of you felt very familiar in a sense, yes rooted in truth and almost bitterness, but it was very playful. 

Of course, there was more than one reason it was so familiar. One, because of the actual marriage that took place beforehand.

But also because a key aspect of that marriage never…stopped. Yes, i’m talking about the sex part. 

The idea of a struggle for power with Rosie is incredibly appealing. Because like I said, she’s nice, polite, and very caring, but she’s still an overlord, meaning she has to be cutthroat.

And that means with you as well. 

Rolling over in bed, almost winning dominance before Rosie sinks her teeth into your neck.

“Ow! Rosie, what the fuck? That’s not how you give someone a fucking hickie!”

“Wasn’t trying too, sweetheart,” she’d grin before licking the bite wound. 

Which is another thing, topping or bottoming, Rosie leaves marks everywhere. In various ways, as well.

She bites, not to leave hickies, to get a taste of you. On your neck, all over your arms, inner thighs, you name it.

And scratching her name into your skin, because even though you’re divorced, you’re still hers. 

I had an anon say once that since she’s a cannibal, she knows a lot about human anatomy. 

So while leaving marks and bites all over you, she’d be explaining perfectly: what would happen if she bite to hard or cut to deep there, spots she has to avoid, and spots she has the privilege of indulging in. 

And while bottoming I still think she’d be kind of a power bottom. But maybe returning the favor, and biting her up.

Remarking on how she needs a taste of her own medicine, almost as much as you need a taste of her. 

I think this idea would be interesting if the reader was also a higher-up of hell, maybe an overlord themself. 

Because then it’d almost be the ‘bitter ex-spouses’ trope with the ‘forced proximity.’

I think Rosie is mature enough not to start and argument during an active overlord meeting, but if your not, shes overjoyed to finish it. [or try to!]

Maybe making a snide remark about something Rosie did during your marriage to the person sitting next to you, just loud enough for her to hear it. 

And obviously causing your back-and-forth bickering from across the table. 

“Oh y/n, would you calm down already?” “Funny, that’s exactly what you said to me when you tried to COOK ME FOR DINNER.” 

“Oh please, I changed my mind. Besides, you taste terrible!

Also the angst aspect of it is very intriguing because there had to be a strong trust bond for the two of you to be married in the first place.

Regardless of how or why you two broke up, there’s definitely a level of love still present despite the resentment.

Yes, Rosie’s annoying and a pain to deal with and talk too but… would you still literally die for her? And vice versa? Yes.

Because if you show up at her door, broken and battered, beat up and bleeding from every part of your body, claiming you had nowhere else to go, the divorce or ‘hatred’ wouldn’t be a thought on her mind.

She’d take you in, patch you up, and let you sleep on the couch. Scolding you the whole time for being reckless, but taking on that caring wisdom filled voice.

And maybe you’re in a position that still allows you to see Rosie a lot, so you have that once in a blue moon experience of seeing her cry or breakdown.

She’s a witch and a pain in your ass, but you still remember her favorite yogurt flavor and wear she keeps her tissues.

And you remember that she gets backaches when she’s stressed, so one way or another, you’re end up gently rubbing her back and reassuring her, taking a break from the bitter cold remarks.

None of these happen often, thank god. In fact, probably only once. But you’re both willing.

I could imagine an argument unfolding after one of these heartfelt moments. Only reminding you of the reason you two didn’t last either.

But it still makes you think; could you have?

my take on teenage raz and lili!

some design notes under the cut:

They're intended to be about 16 here! I didn't go for anything too drastic in terms of changes -- these are largely just what I'd consider natural evolutions of their canon designs

For Raz, my main focus besides just making him look older was to add a bit more resemblance to the other Aquatos in his design, since his relationship with them wouldn't be strained like it is during canon

Raz is shown with very straight hair in canon, but since most of his family's hair is more wavy or curly I tend to imagine he styles it that way on purpose as part of his Sasha Nein cosplay or whatever. He wouldn't still feel the need to do that at this point, though, so for this design I wanted to make it more curly, similar to Augustus or Frazie, while still similar to his canon style. This turned out to be incredibly difficult and I'm still not entirely happy with where I landed, but it's good enough

I didn't think he would still wear the helmet but I didn't want to discard it entirely, so the goggles were a compromise. I meant to give them some visible scratches and wear and tear since they're presumably the same goggles he's been wearing since he was 10, but I forgot. rip

Obviously the most notable change to Raz's outfit is the scarf -- I wanted something that would tie him visually to the other Aquatos while still fitting with his general look. I imagine they gave it to him as a gift, sort of an acknowledgement that even if he doesn't perform with them as an acrobat, doing his Psychonaut work is his own way of being an Aquato

Raz's outfit here is honestly very similar to his PN2 outfit. This is because in my eyes "long coat and turtleneck" is Peak Character Design and cannot be improved on. (Hence why I may not be the best person to redesign Raz.) He has an actual coat rather than just an oversized blazer this time though, so that's an improvement. With the turtleneck I was was vaguely intending for it to be color-wise something of a middle ground between the Sasha-style green striped turtleneck and the Aquato blue/green and white stripes, but it ended up basically just being the PN1 stripes with the PN2 color. which, you know, that works

I went back and forth on what their heights should be -- I thought it would be kind of funny if Raz ended up short and Lili ended up taller than him, but then I decided to just make them more in line with their families, with Raz being tall and lanky and Lili being average verging on short. Except then I accidentally made Lili tall anyway because I was only vaguely considering her height relative to Raz. I guess Lili's probably taller than her dad now? good for her ig

Most of their facial features are just slight variations of how they look in canon -- slightly smaller eyes and so on. the only real specific change is that Lili has a more defined nose now, similar in shape to her father's

Lili's outfit here is more different from either of her canon outfits than Raz's is, but there's still not much that really requires a ton of explanation. The goal was to make her look vaguely cool and fashionable, although as I am neither of those things I cannot guarantee I was successful

I tried a couple different hairstyles for Lili, and I'm still not entirely set on this one -- Originally what I settled on was to give her two braids, which I did like, but I kept doing sketches of her where I just drew the top part of the hair and was like "ngl this kind of works on its own" and so I ended up going with the short hair. I also briefly tried an asymmetrical haircut but I couldn't get it to look right. I think this one suits her though

Lili's tattoo (on her left wrist) was a later addition to the design, and even in the later stages of drawing this I wasn't sure whether to keep it. I like it conceptually I just haven't figured out a consistent design for it yet, only that it has to be of plants

Gonna get chick-flick-momenty for a minute if you don’t mind!!!!!

In 2018 I told myself, “it’s already season 13, the show is bound to end sooner or later and I’ve already been watching this show and been obsessed with it for almost 10 years, I HAVE to meet Jared this year.” I got incredibly lucky that this was the one and only year Creation decided to host a con in Birmingham, UK, a city I’d already been to and felt comfortable going to on my own (unlike Rome haha) and that very first con was AMAZING. Had a great photo op with Jared - but most of all, got to meet my amazing friend @malnourishedsamdean who became my convention buddy. We’ve now gone to three more cons together, only one of which Jared did not cancel - whether he was there or not though, he may be our fave but we had tons of fun and made up for it by meeting more of the cast!!!! - and it would have been four had I not made stupid financial decisions, but oh well. I’ll always treasure these memories with C and hope to make more, and we also met some amazing people there!!!!

Then last year I went to my first JIBcon, finally confident enough to do it having been to Rome in the meantime, but mostly confident because I was going with the wonderful @schielegon and had SUCH a fun time ♥️♥️♥️ the events were incredibly fun (especially a meet and greet where Jared gave me the very last question 🥰) BUT the highlight was definitely meeting this gal I just tagged as well as @ghost-go-roasty-mctoasty , @arwenadreamer , @takikojou and other lovely people <333

There was also that one con that C and I booked on my 28th birthday and only got to go when I was 31, but I don’t think I need to explain why, no one needs the reminder lol. It was SO worth the wait - especially because our beloved @jellybracelet got to come with us <3333

JIB was so amazing I nagged her and @seanwinchester to come this year, and we just had the most wonderful, wonderful weekend because these guys are the most fun, and met more lovely people 🥰🥰 can’t even put it into words because of the sleep deprivation but I’m still floating on that high!!!!

And now that I’ve told my life story as if I was a fan asking Jared and/or Jensen a question,

TL;DR - I feel so, so incredibly lucky and happy. I really hope this doesn’t come across as braggy and I’m sorry if it does - I genuinely, genuinely want everyone to experience stuff like this. It’s the absolute best. I don’t think another show would have provided me with the happiness, the memories and the FRIENDS this show has. I’m so grateful to all of you and also to the cast who will never read this ♥️♥️♥️♥️ they say never to meet your heroes but my interactions with Jared have been so great, he really is as kind and funny and sunshiny as he seems (yes I know I am parasocializing hard idc) and, as I don’t think I’m stopping cons now because they’re so addicting (HOW HAVE I ALREADY BEEN TO SIX. i think collei has an actual canon age right? unless I'm tripping and fanon has solidified so much in everyone's minds. I still haven't read the manhua <3 but iirc people think she's 12-13 there right. maybe she's like 17 rn, i can see anywhere from 14-16 though. idk anything abt her timeline so these are quite literally guesstimates from vibes and they're likely to be wrong. Layla is such a college girlie, she's like 19-20 and sleep deprived (same fr); begging for her to catch a break on behalf of uni students everywhere. I don't have a set age for Faruzan, I can see her anywhere from 30-40, 26 years old minimum (the redesigns people give her where she looks visibly older are so cool <3). Given she was a pretty well known researcher back in her day and since academia is a long and arduous career choice, I think it makes sense; also if she's like way older than Kaveh appearance wise (≥ 10 years) , even if she hadn't gotten trapped for a century, that would be sick af (their dynamic is impeccable and I think a larger age difference makes it better, sweeter, and funnier). Nilou also feels 19-20 years old to me; no real explanation, she just has a young adult vibe, like someone just out of her teenage years but quite capable at managing her life, although still testing out responsibility for major decisions and stuff like that (age solidarity w yun jin)

iirc cyno was already mahamatra or something WHILE tighnari was still in school; thus this makes cynonari EXTREMELY funny if you're a moral purist who ships it and thinks they fell in love in their akademiya days LOL. jkjk it's also a reasonable interpretation that Cyno became mahamatra at an insanely young age, since uhhh fucked up temple of silence background smth smth and honestly it feels in character for him to go buck wild at a young age like that (person most suited for young collei fr). HOWEVER. personally I think being mahamatra at like 19 is insane—thus I think tighnari's probably 23, cyno might be 27? I don't know if that makes it """""""better""""""" from an age gap standpoint but I also don't really care. Cyno being older but more joking around friends, while Tighnari is the younger kohai but serious and no-nonsense is pretty funny to me and when they're both serious you know you're fucked

i think the fact that witch hat atelier somewhat struggles with introducing a few too many characters at a time but then not really taking the time to fully flesh out or utilize them leaving for much to desire from characters that do appear to be quite interesting is something i consider a blunder of the series but its also rather humorous to me because i think this author just really likes character design i will be honest

#one thing about a lifetime original series is that they’re gonna make that shit BONKERS #I’ve watched it enough that I legitimately can mouth every word #this show would honestly do numbers today it was ahead of it’s time #and the writing is pretty good for what it is #very witty #could’ve been taken in a totally corny direction but it just perfectly tips the scale towards a black comedy kind of camp #like it isn’t written as a comedy at all #but it’s also not written as overly serious. the main character is an incredibly likeable serial killer. #and instead of trying to reinterpret details from her actual life they just made shit up and I prefer it better that way #because a lot of Lizzie Borden media that deals with her post trial life is just so bad #but this production team said ‘let’s just have some fucking fun with it’ #and you can tell Christina ricci is having a good time #this role was literally written for her #and it’s funny because it’s technically like part of a franchise #but it’s written and directed completely differently from the lifetime movie that preceded it #but the two are not incongruous #it’s just such an underrated gem #I’m gutted that there wasn’t a second season but it’s also clear that it was intended as a limited series and not an ongoing franchise #they wrote and concluded one seasons worth of story and that is that #the lizzie borden chronicles #tlbc

Something I haven't seen people talk about with the new spiderverse movie is just how puertorrican Miles and Rio are.

For background, I'm puertorrican from the island, and I just watched Across the Spiderverse in a theater here, and let me tell you, the people in the theater freaked out whenever these little details came on. It is so clear to all of us how much care went into portraying every single detail.

You guys don't understand how important all of this is to me.

At the party, when everyone started greeting miles in spanish? I've had all those phrases said to me. All of those people had my accent. They weren't a different flavor of hispanic just because finding some puertorricans was too hard. They were all so very puertorrican that it almost hurt.

But even that can be a bit easier to portray. Sure, they all had puertorrican accents, but everything they said is pretty run of the mill for hispanic people. And then I saw the food. I remember the asopao most clearly, because it was just on screen for a few seconds, and my friend started whisper screaming "Pasteles, pasteles!!" into my ear. It was such a tiny thing, but the food was ours, and not cuban, and not dominican. We never get to see our food done right, because no one cares. People just use dominican food and go "close enough."

And when Miles and his parents are talking about spiderman and Rio says that Spiderman is puertorrican?? That's such a puertorrican thing to do. People here are so incredibly proud of our island and our people that I personally know so many people that have gone to see Lin Manuel Miranda shows while having zero interest in musical theater because he's one of us. It makes so much sense that Rio would celebrate that, and when Miles immediately tries to deflect by saying spuderman sounds more dominican? That's peak comedy. Everyone in the theater burst out laughing, and that joke works precisely because the movie doesn't treat us as interchangeable.

And finally, Rio herself. The way all the characters move is so incredibly unique and mesmerizing, but Rio? My girl feels with her mouth. Her expressions were so spot on, with the lips making up so much of the emotions. Puertorricans use our lips a lot when expressing how we feel, and its such a tiny, inconsequential detail, but it means the world to me. So many people in the creative team cared so much for all these little details to make their way in. They really didn't have to, but they did, and I just really appreciate that.

Also, fun fact, I watched it in english with spanish subs (the subs are for the spanish dubbed version, not a direct translation), and when Rio says "I bet she doesn't even know spanish" about Gwen, in spanish it's "I bet she doesn't even know where Puerto Rico is" and that was very funny and I laughed my ass off when I noticed that's what they translated it as.

the thing i really like about just for once in nerdy prudes must die is that it's best iteration of the musical within a musical trope that has become characteristic of the hatchetfield musicals

like both show-stopping number and deck the halls (of northville high) are catchy songs from in-universe musicals that were very much written to have plots that suck

and show-stopping number was so well-beloved because it is, frankly, a hilarious scene that robert manion put 100% into

but i argue that only just for once is thematically relevant to its musical and fully emblematic of the wants and desires of the character singing it

because what is just for once, as a scene? it's ruth singing a song because she thinks she's got a chance of doing it better. it's ruth singing a song about a character who looks back on the mundane miseries of her lonely life and — at the last second — remembering who she used to be before the pain set in. it's ruth singing her version of cooler than i think i am and reflecting on how she is perceived and wondering what it takes to break away from it. it's ruth singing right after she says, "in my dreams, i'm the star of the show."

of all the losers that max jagerman victimizes, only ruth says who she'd like to become beyond that. where pete can't even admit to liking steph at gunpoint and richie doesn't ever get the chance to verbalize what he wants, ruth gets on the stage in the few minutes of break time and just for once, the spotlight is on her.

and the really crazy thing about just for once is — it has the "i'm not a loser" motif. possibly the most iconic and important motif of the whole musical, it's the motif that starts the opening number. and here it is, in the silly musical within a musical by the silly character who has — until this song — always served as comic relief.

in the climax of the song, just for once is no longer the song of a character from the barbecue monologues. it's ruth's. in those few seconds, it's her lamentation of the life that max jagerman forced on her.

but that's the thing about the "i'm not a loser" motif. the way it functions in the musical is as a harbinger for max's violence. the police at the beginning ask, "what the hell happened here?" and its the motif that answers. pete is the first character that sings the line and is immediately beaten up by max in the next scene. then richie sings it and max kills him in the same song. when ruth has the motif running as the crescendo to just for once, it sounds absolutely incredible... and it should come as no surprise when max appears shortly after.

(as a quick note: you can also hear the motif after max makes the car crash, then max appears two scenes later. you then hear the motif in the cooler than i think i am reprise and max also appears right after the song. it's like max is instantly summoned by any instance of the losers trying to shake off the role he placed on them — of trying to defy him.)

tl;dr: the inclusion of the "i'm not a loser" motif in just for once makes it the big lipped alligator moment that wasn't. like yeah, it accomplishes its goal in being the funny musical within a musical trope! the character acting makes it a funny song, and its a funny character performing it! but it also furthers our understanding of ruth AND of what the "i'm not a loser" really is: it's the characters trying to develop past being nerdy prudes and max doing everything in his power to prevent that.

and it does all that while being a banging musical tribute to stephen sondheim and, especially, his song the ladies who lunch. which in itself is a massive flex on jeff blim's part. what a brilliant song in a brilliant musical.

Joe ass dude (who knows EVERYONE under him by name), and the menagerie of usual Armored Core crooks and freaks that inhabit the Arena, and let’s not forget the utterly suspect ALL MIND who keeps saying very concerning shit and sort of acknowledges you’re in ng+ and wants your help in creating an ethically* sourced, community built Nineball. Even the playable character is an identity thief and the world’s okayest lobotomite, who gets attacked specifically for stealing an identity AND for being an okay lobotomite, separately and in different situations.

And here’s where I make a special mention to Ayre, the girl living in your head, who is… A normal ass person for the most part and just sort of hangs out with you and wants to spend time together. There’s also the voices of the legion, but otherwise, she’s just A Person, and even feels bad asking you to do things if she can’t pay you. In the middle of the big corpo war, Ayre is like ���Raven, did you know? There’s lore :) I hope that was interesting”. When the voice possessing your hollow bloodless head is the most normal and well adjusted person in the setting, you know you have something good going on.
