FINALLY gonna wrap up Reversed Robin Origins with Babs n Dick in ONE GO, lets DO THIS:

So here’s the thing you gotta realize about Babs. She’s Gotham born and raised. She’s LIVED this shit all her life. Jim is a Helluva lot younger in this and got his start as a Rookie RIGHT when Batman was starting out, and Babs herself grew up in a Sidekick-filled Gotham. She hears all sorts of stories from her dad abt what Batman was like before he had kid sidekicks, sure, but she only rlly knows for sure abt how these cryptids are NOW. And More Importantly, she’s FASCINATED by the bat-shadow that’s been following Batman himself for as long as she can remember.

Basically, she got ONE good look at batgirl ONE time and she’s been Cass’ number one fan ever since.

So what does she do when she’s 9 years old, a gymnastics prodigy and Olympic Hopeful, and absolutely FERAL abt Batgirl.

She makes her own batgirl costume ofc :) and does her damnedest to try to Join the Caped Crusaders! (To absolutely mixed results OFC)

I still love the idea of Babs going to a costume ball in her homemade batgirl costume & trying to surprise her dad with it, only for the party to be interrupted by killer moth and she just Barely holds her own long enough for the other bats to change into costume+take over. So we're keeping that in for the most part and throwing in a lecture from all the Bats after abt Never Doing Anything Like That Ever Again lmaooo

But this is Babs we’re talking abt here, and she’ll do things outta PURE SPITE. So she’s absolutely going out way past bedtime and hopping from fire escape to fire escape and stopping Petty crimes that she thinks the others are missing (they’re totally not, but try telling HER THAT)

And for Added Angst, Bruce absolutely considers her his punishment for not keeping Steph outta this whole business.

Now for Dick:

I forgot to say, it'll be at least 3 long years before Babs tries Stepping Onto the Scene for the first time. 3 long, crazy, adventure and drama-filled years since Jason and Cass took their globe-trotting trip to find their moms, and returned from their adventure, maybe not exactly victorious, but certainly satisfied with the answers they've found. And in those years between, again, many things occur, but we wont get into that right this second.

Because pretty soon after Babs starts making her own attempts to shoehorn herself into the Bat-Business, tragedy strikes one more time when the Flying Graysons are forever Grounded, and Dick, all of 12years old, has been left to pick up the pieces.

And you might be thinking, "Yeah yeah Randy, we all know the story, so whats the difference? he's got a better support system now bc he has so many siblings this time around right?"

But Here's the thing I see so many ppl forgetting, here's the thing that ruins the Reverse Robins for me when I see ppl sticking WAY too close to their fanon ages instead of considering... that keeping with the canon age gap between Dick and Jason alone (where Jay was 12 when Dick was 18 & moving onto his NW identity), and now flipping it (so everyone is now in their various Late-Teens/Early 20s) means not only is Dick the DEFINITIVE baby of the siblings,

He just might end up being mostly alone in the Manor with Bruce, since all of the other Birds have flown the Nest.

So yeah for the first time in this universe, it will be Batman and Robin who stalk the night.

And while Robin might be the newest protector of Gotham... while he might be the one who sticks closest to Bruce's side. For once, he's not completely alone at Batman's side. Bc any of the older Bats are Ready at a moments notice to help their new baby brother out of a jam.
