#but it is not always conducive to playing optimally to keep blue beam on someone - sometimes they need that sweet sweet yellow beam instead

man, I’m gonna be real, every time I see someone say some shit like ‘Mercy isn’t a primary healer she’s only good for pocket potential’ or ‘if you have gold healing on Mercy you’re playing her wrong!’ my eyes roll so far into the back of my head they come right back around to seeing out my eye sockets again
Just because she has a single-target beam doesn’t mean she needs to be relegated to ‘only good for pocketing’ - it’s called juggling heals, it’s a skill that any GOOD Mercy player should have and utilize to it’s fullest potential. If you’ve ever played Medic in TF2 you know just how vital juggling heals on your targets can be - keeping your team up is more important than keeping one single person alive.
Like yes, damage boost is important, but guess what? It’s entirely dependent on the person you’re boosting to be able to actually hit things. Lower damage boost and higher heals =/= bad Mercy player, maybe the DPS that was getting DMG boosted wasn’t hitting anything - maybe they were shooting Zarya bubbles and feeding her charge and the Mercy said ‘fuck that noise I ain’t helping with that’. Maybe keeping someone alive was more pressing than giving them damage boost - sure, you kill people faster with damage boost, but what good does that do you if you’re dead exactly? Absolutely none.
Gold heals doesn’t equal a bad Mercy and it is so tiring to see people online say it does lmao
