hey I figure that you’re probably tired of talking about the Sentimonster nonsense but I genuinely still can’t stand that it’s an actual thing. The wildest thing about it is that I JOINED the fandom because of the Sentimonster theory, actually got excited for it and looked forward to hints, not believing the skeptics or the salters bc it didn’t seem like such a big deal—that is until I saw with my own eyes how SO MANY FANS said with their whole chest that, in “Ephemeral” Adrien HAD to be a Sentimonster or there was no other “sympathetic explanation” for why he didn’t de-akumatize himself or fight off Gabriel.
Seeing the victim blaming in real time was such a punch in the gut—and then they just kept on coming!! It finally hit me how damaging the entire thing because for the show as a whole. If even regular fans that weren’t even known for salting could so willingly disregard and ignore genuine abuse coping mechanisms in favor of magical BS… it was such a dark time. Abuse Apologism and victim blaming in a whole package
Sometimes, when I write about Miraculous, I pretend I'm writing about a show that only had three seasons. That's what the "zagulous fandom" tag is for; it's for posts that are about the parts of Miraculous that had Zag's executive control keeping Astruc in check. I also kinda accepted long ago that my blog's kind of a support blog for people who are against the Sentihuman concept.
When I first heard of the expanded Sentimonster theory, the one that went "all the rich kids are Sentimonsters", I instantly went: "You do realize how making victims of child abuse nonhumans with questionable rights minimizes their victimhood and excuses their abusers, right?" people told me I was making stuff up and whoopsie doo, the writers did exactly that.
Neither Gabriel nor Tomoe faced any consequences for abusing Adrien and Kagami because, after all, since they're Sentimonsters, the real abuse was that they didn't have their Amoks so giving them their Amoks resolves all their problems. The only abusive parent who gets acknowledged as such is Félix's dad, who is dead by the time we hear about any of this, because we can't have abusive parents face consequences for their actions because that might upset people or whatever excuses Astruc's giving for Gabriel's vindication now.
This also minimises all the affects of the abuse on the kids, since they can be handwaved away with: "They were just programmed that way." Kagami's bad social skills aren't because her mother isolated her, it's because she forgot to program Kagami with those skills. Félix's villainous behavior isn't because his mother is overly permissive with him, he was just programmed that way (by the eeeeevil Colt). Adrien isn't a people pleaser because he's repeating his abuse coping mechanisms with his overly controlling girlfriend to keep her happy the same way he did to his overly controlling father, he was just programmed to be the perfect doting son and boyfriend.
You'll notice how neatly this ties into the crew denying that Chloé was abused in any way ever by her clearly abusive mother. Chloé wasn't made into a Sentimonster, so we can't have her bad coping with her abuse be excused by "Sentimonster programming", so now the writers are just gaslighting the audience and saying: "Chloé wasn't mistreated by her parents which caused her to act to out to get attention (which she literally stated to be her motive in season 3), in fact, she's the one who's been terrorizing her poor, innocent father and he needs to be protected from this naturally occuring evil hellspawn."
All child abuse in this show gets excused.
Of course, now the writers have an added reason to make sure Adrien's abuse gets excused in particular: because they made Marinette benefit from it. As I said, Adrien is repeating abuse coping mechanisms learned from dealing with his father to keep Marinette happy. He's always prioritizing her feelings and never brings up his own problems, and this is good for Marinette, because she can just enjoy having a perfect boyfriend who caters to her every need and doesn't have problems of his own or with the ways she treats him (for all she knows). She's even maintaining this status quo by lying about Gabriel to Adrien, so Adrien won't get upset (and have emotional needs that she would need to help him with). Either we have to excuse Adrien's abuse, or we have to admit Marinette is benefitting from the fact that Adrien was abused, and even taking advantage with the way she makes no effort to improve their communication on her end, preferring to spy on Adrien and lie to him instead of just talking to him like an equal.
The show writers are also allergic to following through on their creative decisions, is what I think. They put all these different victims of child abuse and neglect in the show, and then dehumanized these children in different ways so that they wouldn't actually need to say anything about that abuse they wrote in and they can instead pretend it was never there. This is why I also think that, no matter how much the show's defenders insist the story isn't over yet, we will never be getting a proper resolution to the Sentinonsense.

what do other people get wrong about poe?
YES MORE POE QUESTIONS!! :D thank you anon, you're really given me all the excuses to ramble lmao
tbh there are not many people on here that get him wrong, at least i haven't seen much? though ofc there are other websites *looks at tiktok with squinted eyes* that reduce him to being a sugar daddy boytoy, which... i mean it's funny. but it's also not everything that he is obviously, especially bc i don't think poe really has a concept of money tbh? like i think he has ridiculously expensive essential things (i say essential but i mean i don't think a mansion is particularly essential lmao) and he also buys things he considers important to show off his abilities, like for example the manuscript, but looking at the anthology (which isn't canon but lets pretend it is for a sec) he only has limited clothing and other than many other rich people would he doesn't just hire someone to get them for him yk? (he also lets mori pay i think right? lmao) in conclusion - he spends his money, yes, but he's not throwing it out the window (debatable tho, i'd call 20 mil a waste but he can do it ig?), nor does he spend it much on his own needs.
many people also forget that yes, he is whiny, but he is also extremely dangerous! his ability could trap nearly everyone and make them defenseless! even chuuya spends a while in poe's book and he's highly capable and intelligent! ranpo was near giving up! this is extremely important to his character and a severe bruise on his confidence! i think many forget that
he is a skilled snipper, can replace a car engine (bro watched one yt tutorial and rolled with it i'm so sure about this) and ofc he is a detective and a writer that impressed ranpo (and can also write a mystery in around 15-30 minutes) and is ALSO the architect for the guild. so. yeah. he's multi-talented as shit, i think people should appreciate that more
also (this list is never gonna end lol) i think people mistake his anxiety in social settings for being shy and i just.. don't think he is shy per se? he's quite boastful when it comes to his writing and his ability that comes with it and on the perfect crime trio case he had no problem at all speaking in public and even with the police. i mean an anxious person that would be worried about how he was perceived he would be worried that he'd be found out to be a criminal which he IS, but he just is so sure of himself that he's left no traces that he's just like "*shrug* yeah that happened, anyway, how are you officer? :D" not quite like that ofc but yk i just think he's more anxious in the way that he hates groups of people bc they overwhelm him quickly in regards to noise and conversation (especially small talk i'd guess) and that he just thinks many people he doesn't take interest in are annoying? that might be a lil controversial opinion tbh but i'll gladly remind you of this panel:
Tumblr media
(i couldn't find the official translation help)
tho i also have to say that he calls himself shy here so could be both idk:
Tumblr media
hm, yeah i think that's it for now. in relations to ranpo i don't like how people sugarcoat them a lot tbh, i know i've said it before but this really bugs me, like yes they're getting along quite well but i wouldn't call their relationship healthy at all? at least not yet, though i can see that it could work very well eventually. i think poe is doing all these things gladly for ranpo but ranpo has to open up way more and tell poe that he appreciates him, like please, this man is so down bad for you. also pls communicate so that poe doesn't lose himself in his obsession, this can't be healthy come onnn, bro has isolated himself for yearssss
yep, i think that's it, ty anon!!!! <33

Scarlet Blaze Ch 12
Spoilers below for all Hopes routes up to Ch 12.
MAIN STORY
More backtracking.
I had Shez say we shouldn't return because I'm sick of backtracking. Hubert got mad at me. Ugh.
I also don't get why TWSITD wouldn't want Edelgard do take over. Isn't that like their plan? She does all the hard work then they kill her? Isn't Rhea's death #1 on TWSITD's Christmas list??
SIDE MAPS/CAMP
Ashe is still miserable, but no special words for Annette. I hope Mercedes does.
Marianne is actually motivated to fight this time. She actively dislikes fighting the Kingdom though. (Dimimari still alive)
Lamo, Linhardt doesn't give two shits about Edelgard's war, he just wants to go back to Enbarr and take a nap.
Petra also seems relieved she's fighting rioters and not Kingdom soldiers.
Everyone else - there riots, hung. This one random dude - so there's this dance competition
Mercedes wants to be left alone and pray for Annette. She should've known though that the Empire's actions are sentencing a sizable portion of Faerghus to death, right? I have less sympathy for her than Ashe, who was just following Dimitri's direct orders.
Hubert looks like such a try-hard with this new design. Sometimes I forget.
Hubert doesn't trust Shez. This is such a stark contract to AG, because Hubert thinks Shez will lose control and kill Edelgard and is threatening to kill Shez.
So there's another cut scene where they say TWSITD doesn't want Fodlan unified, but don't they in 3 Houses? Isn't the whole point of the experiments on Edelgard so she's strong enough to kill Rhea and take over Fodlan? Like, I get why they'd be mad that Edelgard kicked them out, but if they were smart they'd let her do all the dirty work and then just take her out and then profit without losing anyone. This whole, "TWSITD doesn't want us to unify!" really smells like bullshit bc of the backlash Edelgard got for siding with them in Houses. Now they're retconning it into "oh, no no, they don't want her to succeed!" Uh, yes, they do, that's what they spent years planning on. Makes no sense.
SHEZ & CASPAR B SUPPORT
They talk about training and how Caspar wants to surpass Shez in fighting ability.
Really the only thing of note is Caspar's persistence.
SHEZ & LINHARDT B SUPPORT
Linhardt is still investigating Shez's power, who has mixed feelings about it.
The problem is the power woke up when Shez was facing death, making it hard to recreate. So Linhardt just commits to studying Shez on the battlefield.
Linhardt is stone cold. After realizing he may not be able to study Shez's power he says he'll need to revaluate the value of their relationship.
SHEZ & BERNADETTA A SUPPORT
Their plans to help Bernadetta is not going well. Everything ends in chaos.
There's moments Bernie's anxiety is treated seriously in this support at the very least.
It ends with Bernie realizing Shez doesn't scare her anymore and that the way not to be nervous around people is spending time with them.
SHEZ & PETRA A SUPPORT
Petra tells Shez he can come to Brigid once it's over.
She hopes to increase trade once the war is over and thinks having Shez around will help.
It's pretty fucked up that Petra thinks the best way for Brigid to stand out is to comply with their oppressors until they "earn" their power or whatever. Recruited Petra is always better.
Shez tells Petra she's "every bit the leader the Fodlan ones are" like fuck off, we know that. Petra just owns it though. She's like, "no, I'm Brigid's queen." We love that for her.
I'm having Shez be as much of a dick as I can though right now (fuck this route for making me kill Annette, Gustave, Rodrigue, and Ingrid - the Black Eagles deserve worse), and this was the first time I felt bad.
HUBERT & MONICA A SUPPORT
The battle of the simps.
I really wonder what the writers were thinking. Oh, I know what the Black Eagles needs, another mage and another character who wants to suck Edelgard's toes! We don't have enough of either yet.
Monica insulted Edelgard's painting without knowing it was Edelgard's. This is probably the hardest trial she's ever faced (yes, it's probably worse than kidnapping and imprisonment for her)
Edelgard got offended. That girl can't take any criticism.
Monica aspires to be Edelgard's servant and is happy that the war she's causing may make that possible. Question is, does Edelgard want to put up with a stalker?
FERDINAND & DOROTHEA A SUPPORT
Dorothea has realized that she owes Ferdinand an apology. Finally.
Ferdinand really rides that line between cringe and endearing and right now I don't know what side of the fence he's on right now. He's shouting at Dorothea so he can keep a distance and giving her the chance to laugh at him if she wants.
Dorothea's embarrassed because everyone is overhearing this lamo. And people are assuming they're dating.
Poor Ferdinand is like Dorothea's still annoyed with me. Then Dorothea tells him he doesn't need to apologize, which makes him think she'll never forgive him, but it's actually because she has too.
They both get embarrassed when she tells him what's going on.
Honestly this is a WAY cuter version of the same story and a lesson in how much execution matters. I was all team Petra/Dorothea (and Ferdinand I didn't really ship with anyone), but now I like Ferdie/Doro too.
While I'm kind of bummed we basically got the same conversation, a rewrite really helped in this case so I get why they went that route.
MONICA & DOROTHEA C SUPPORT
Why did they have to do my girl Dorothea like this? Wasting one of her supports on Monica.
Monica is upset she didn't realize Dorothea was the songstress sooner.
So, Monica is a fan of Dorothea too.
Also Dorothea finds Monica unsettling. Same.
But hey at least Monica got through a conversation without saying Edelgard.
LINHARDT & CONSTANCE C
So is this about Constance being mad that Linhardt doesn't care about his noble status or about him investigating her condition?
Linhardt calls her for siding with the church over the Empire for a bit, but it was only for survival.
Man, Constance just makes no sense fighting for Edelgard. She wants to glory of nobility so awkward.
These two aren't having the same conversation. Linhardt is curious about her crest situation and Constance is going off about wanting to revive her house.
He just walks off after getting annoyed by her lol.
JERITZA & EDELGARD A SUPPORT
Jetiza likes the war because without it he'd be killing someone "less deserving" because Fuck You random Faerghus citizen. I guess they "deserve it"
Also, holy shit, dude acts like it's just inevitable that he murders
At least he wants to get arrested. Edelgard doesn't want him to get arrested.
My question is, did Jeritza go around killing willy nilly or just House Bartels? Because he makes it sound like he can't resist killing and just went and ganked whoever was unlucky.
Or was it that Edelgard recruited him right away and made him her personal guard dog?
MAIN BATTLE
Hanneman and Leonie, not who I expected.
I love how we only see mothers crying over their dead kids when it's TWSITD's attack that does it and not Edelgard's.
Edelgard says no more innocent lives lost today, which may actually be true since we're attacking TWSITD and not commoners from Faerghus.
Is there anything you can do about Leonie? She died of poison, but since it's related to Jeralt stuff, I'm guessing it's because I didn't recruit him? If I did, would she have gotten recruited?
Solon retreated. Annoying.
Hubert, who was a dark knight the whole battle, claims he doesn't know the magic TWSITD uses.
I forget how anime magic girl Edelgard's design is in this game. It's kind of weird.
I keep earning reknown, but I don't know what it does.
Duke Aegir and co seized a fortress. Time for Ferdinand to do something cool?
Caspar's brother is a prisoner.
Does this mean I get to put off fighting innocent citizens of Faerghus for another level? Because I prefer SB bored out of my mind than upset that I had to kill Ingrid, Rodrigue, Gustave, and Annette.
Leonie's dead too now. Geeze, SB is a bloodbath.

I think it is very probable that the Duffers won't stop the production or filming, and that their support for the strike will just remain in... words, rather than direct action. Realistically the Duffers are tied to Netflix, they literally are the producers of the biggest show (on Netflix) now, and they're already getting paid... a lot and the fact that they are tied to Netflix makes it VERY unlikely for them to stand up against Netflix. I just cannot imagine a scenario like that, lol. So yeah, it is controversial and sad, but if we are considering the situation from a realistic POV... I can see the duffers not exactly standing up against Netflix.
It’s possible!
I do wonder if they’re going to announce filming starting then? Because official Netflix/ST accounts usually make a post the day filming starts to let the fans know it has officially commenced.
Although it is a cause for celebration for fans, it’s… going to look really bad in the eyes of those supporting the strike, which is 98% of writers and basically everyone that isn’t the top 1% in the industry.
I know the Game of Thrones spin-off or whatever announced that they’re going to start filming despite the strike and they’re getting a lot of negative press from not just those in the industry but also fans who are scared that the quality of the show is gonna suffer.
It’s common knowledge that the shows that did continue production during the last strike dipped in quality bc they were not able to have rewrites while filming. Stuff like actors improvising and adding their own lines and directors or just anyone coming in to fill that role of the writers on strike is highly frowned upon. You’re essentially dubbed a snake who is taking the side of the corporations and saying fuck you to those that are trying to fight for decent pay.
It does make me wonder if they’re so quiet about filming potentially starting in May and maybe they won’t even officially announce it, because they don’t want to sour the reputation of the show by giving the impression they aren’t supporting the strike, but are instead directly going against it.
To be fair, there are certain individuals in the production that have literally no choice but to work bc of their contracts. Like I know Disney just announced that show runners and other people in that type of position are required to return to their productions for non-writing duties. And I know that applies to a lot of people in the production that aren’t writing. So to a lot of folks, even if you wanted to strike, you can’t bc it’s against your contract.
It’s just unfortunate that not only are they risking the quality of the show not being it’s best, they’re also risking the shows reputation. There are 100% going to be people boycotting the HOG and ST knowing that it had production going during the strike. And if it god forbid did end up not being very good at certain points, we’d never hear the end of it..
And the fact that it’s likely to be very byler heavy potentially…. That should be something people on here consider as opposed to just praying for filming to start bc we want bts asap.
Even if filming started tomorrow, there’s no guarantee we’re getting blurry bts anytime soon. Especially if they only have a few people on set not only bc of the strike and the fact that maybe a lot of people won’t be there out of solidarity, but also bc it’s probably going to be a skeleton crew working to avoid spoilers.
If we’re lucky, the strike would end sooner than later and we could see some bts floating around in the next 2-3 months, but I just don’t see that happening rn. A lot of experts are saying that Netflix in particular can afford to hold this out for months, bc they’ve got a full backlog for the next two years when it comes to releases on their platform.
How does ST fit into that, I’m not exactly sure. But if they’re not putting any pressure on Netflix, then we’ll know based on Netflix’s behavior about the situation. All it would take is the ST production to give them a lot of pressure to make an impact, and I agree that is the very reason that Netflix probably prepared for that scenario. It’s likely it’s written in the Duffer’s contracts that they have to continue in the scenario of a strike, so even if they wanted to support it, they’re stuck.
It sucks but yeah it’s very likely that whatever is filmed during the strike will put a bad taste in the critics and audiences mouths. Unfortunately it’s likely to be byler related soooo yeah that does suck for those of us that are already prepared for the homophobic backlash.
In a perfect world streamers would stop being greedy and just give the writers 3% like they’re asking. It’s literally nothing in the grand scheme of things. These corporations are making billions and they can’t give their writers 3%… like… no wonder they’re not dropping this until something changes bc it’s fucking pathetic.
A lot of these writers live in Los Angeles and are making like 70k a year, in a city where that is not at all a live-able wage bc of rent prices being crazy. Also they need representation which drops their salary to like 46k… These people are being paid nothing and then bc streamers don’t compensate for residuals like they used to when a tv episode re-aired on tv, all they get is the pay for making it and that’s it… that’s not sustainable and if they don’t stand up to this bs now, future generations of writers are going to be fucked. The prospects of AI coming in and taking all their jobs is also closing in. It’s a shitty situation.
I’m at a point now though where I’ve went from being excited about filming to start, to sort of dreading it, knowing that the writers are against it and that it’s going to make a lot of resentments for the production going forward. It’s not going to be pretty.

3x10, a mix of everything, part 2.
Tumblr media
Rebecca is Keeley's best friend. and Jack is a fucking liar. what the hell is going on this season? especially with Keeley's plotline?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Roy & Keeley holding hands and Jamie walking in the room? hello?
on the other point, Keeley deserves better than constantly pushing people around her on their way to growth. first Jamie (which, fine, it was necessary and he did all the work by himself and came out beautifully). then Roy (that I presume will realise his mistake and will become better and such). still, can Keeley finally have some happiness and sense of confidence and self-worth that doesn't depend on her love life and personal relationships?
people keep thinking about Jamie being the matchmaker for ot3, but to me rn it looks like it's gonna be Keeley. and i'm not sure if I like that they're using a woman to do that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is nice. I like this. Something about Keeley being Richmond's football team best friend and finally making it to Mae (while Ted and Beard been visiting her place since the day they arrived to UK).
Red Right hand while Roy walks in the building? I have Peaky Blinders flashbacks. an interesting use of that song, for sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want what Ted and Beard have.
Tumblr media
same, Trent, same. maybe this is gonna be Roy's colorful awakening era.
Tumblr media
somebody save them.
Tumblr media
it's not the first time we see Isaac with an earring, but we don't label him bisexual the way we do with Jamie. it's the attitude, really.
Tumblr media
this is not even funny. how are they not supposed to be romantic? how? i don't even ship them you just rub this under my nose. platonic after the matchbook and supposed to be a mother? what IS this? i seriously have questions to the writers. can they make up their mind? bc one is gives to her by an ex lover and one is given to her by, according to writers, her brother from another mother. all i keep seeing is how they keep connecting Ted and Rebecca and not in a platonic way. there's no romantic chemistry between them for me, especially this season, but hello???? WHAT? IS? THIS? what are they trying to achieve?
Tumblr media
you tell them.
Tumblr media
rainbow <3
Tumblr media
oh, don't start with that, as if it sends Roy on some righteous path back to Keeley. "hope it didn't cost too much" i'm so tired of that plotline.
Tumblr media
Keeley is such a sweetheart and deserves so much better.
Tumblr media
this is so bad. i feel for Rebecca.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh, fuck off. not a good look is a room full of rich men that can make an influence but choose not to. even decide to charge more. and if we're talking politics for some reason, have you also seen other nations' government? even the mess that happens in UK, where you live? seriously, fuck off and take P*tin with you, maybe then it'll start looking better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she learned that from Trent & you can't convince me otherwise. i LOVE the parallel. QUEEN.
Tumblr media
POV: you're an only woman in the room of white rich old cis men and a black one. ew.
Tumblr media
she gets it now. the power of Ted Lasso and Coach Beard.
i'm not sure what they're doing there with Rupert. redemption arc through Rebecca's words? why? forgiveness? also why? Rupert and Rebecca laughing together? what is going onnn??? AND then Rebecca hanging back Hockney aka the drawing Rupert gifted her? i'm confused.
Tumblr media
"we just borrow them for a while" hello?? they keep connecting Rebecca to Ted???
i was screaming a lot of NO's as Rupert went for a kiss. I'm glad Rebecca stopped it. i was seriously scared for that moment. what a shitty person he is. you can never have that wonderful woman again. suffer and die in suffering, bitch.
Tumblr media
no way Keeley has a glass wall in her bathroom???? also, what's with both of her exes coming to her house instead of calling, texting and facing her face to face? why ot3 if not ot3?
Tumblr media
*peels my face off with skin and muscle* if you're not adding Jamie to that, I swear to the Outsider—
Tumblr media
hell yeah <3
Tumblr media
you suuuure?

Hihi! I've recently been brain-rotting on this one au, and since you're one of my favorite twst writers, I thought I'd share it with you via request!
Basically, it's an au where all the twst boys have wings (except some are different because favoritism)
All the Diasomnia boys (minus Silver) have dragon wings, Silver has regular feathered wings (so do everyone else)
Jamil's wings were somehow damaged so he can't fly, bc his family sucks and also he would most definitely try or have tried flying away (they can't have that ig)
Riddle can't fly very well because his mom didn't teach him (rude tbh)
Octavinelle all have artificial wings, they're mostly for show/to fit it though. They can use them to fly, but don't really know how and/or are afraid to.
The rest is up to you! Hope this isn't too long of a request, I have a lot of thoughts lol. Have a great rest of your day/night!
Hi! This was a fun request, thanks for bringing it to me! You left a lot of stuff open for me to play with and I appreciate that a lot. Anyway, I’ve never really gotten into Wingfic but this was really fun to think about! Thanks for sharing your concepts, I hope I did some justice! Everything’s pretty short but I’d be glad to do more at a later date (depending on my mood tomorrow I might make some doodles? Riddle’s tiny cardinal wings will live in my head forever)
CW// wing m*tilation, angst, a little whump in Jamil’s, wings…stuff. Vil having feelings he hates/mental illness uuuh mentions of animal behavior? Idk if that’s a warning or not but it’s a thing! Oh also Riddle Mom angst. Characters acting a bit ooc
All the Diasomnia boys (minus Silver) have dragon wings, Silver has regular feathered wings (so do everyone else)
Silver curled himself deeper into his wings, the soft white and black plumage tickling at his nose. He sniffled and sneezed, eyes opening slightly.
Lilia was staring down at him, and he yelped in surprise.
“Morning, sleepy-head.” Lilia chirped, “I can’t say it’s my favorite time of day, but I made breakfast!”
Silver groaned softly, sitting up, “What time is it?”
“Four am!” Lilia said. He leaned back and stretched, his bat like wings speading with him. “I made pancakes with chicken!” He cheered.
Silver blinked. It didn’t sound bad, but he knew it would be. “What else did you add?”
“Strawberries and seaweed!” He said coming over. He pressed a kiss to his son’s head, “Now come on, before it gets cold, and we can begin training again.”
Silver groaned, but was cut off by the booming voice of Sebek and the sudden view of green, scaly wings in his doorway, “DON’T DISRESPECT MASTER LILIA IN SUCH A WAY!”
“It’s four am.” Silver argued.
“MASTER LILIA GRACIOUSLY MADE YOU BREAKFAST AND YOU GROAN?”
“Dude, shut up.” Silver said, finally getting up, “You don’t like to eat his cooking either.”
Jamil's wings were somehow damaged so he can't fly, bc his family sucks and also he would most definitely try or have tried flying away (they can't have that ig)
A servant is bound to their master through various methods. Money, convention, chains. Jamil looked over his clipped wings again, reminiscing on the days when he was far younger, then days he and Kalim could fly. Before he was punished and reminded of his place beneath him. Before he learned to hate Kalim.
Jamil fanned at the stoved, frowning at Kalim’s most recent failed attempt at cooking. The fire was soon put out - Jamil’s wings were undoubtedly powerful, despite them being clipped. They moved fast, the feathers of red and orange and blue covered in a thick layer of brown henna, standing their color.
“You cannot outshine Kalim.” He reminded himself every week when he had to reapply the dye, “Know your place, Jamil.”
When asked, you might think nothing was wrong.
“I simply prefer to walk.” Was something he said often. Vargas seemed to make concessions for Jamil, sending him on an errand conveniently at the beginning of any flight training and not commenting on how Jamil wouldn’t return until the class was almost over. Who would question the coach on that?
Few people knew about Jamil’s condition. It was considered barbaric - cutting or clipping someone’s wings was considered a hate crime in most places, something irreversibly horrible. It wasn’t something to be ignored. Especially not when people ask questions.
The last time Jamil answered honestly, the last time he let someone know, he’d nearly had his wings cut off all together as punishment. It besmirched his name, and worse, if someone found out the reason it happened was for Kalim…
“You cannot outshine Kalim.” He said, “And you cannot ruin his name.”
Riddle can't fly very well because his mom didn't teach him (rude tbh)
Riddle looked down from the ledge, nervously latching eyes with Vargas.
“Rosehearts, c’mon. You’re Easton’ precious time, just jump and fly across the field.”
The second year class stared curiously at the normally proud dorm leader.
It wasn’t too far from the ground - at least, not to someone who knew more. But Riddle’s wings were small, even for his age, and seemed more like a grand accessory than a body part. They puffed. He stepped back, frowning and shaking his head.
“I’m sorry, Coach Vargas, I can’t.”
A sigh of disappointment escaped Vargas, and Riddle winced. He stepped back from the ledge.
His chest heaved and he closed his eyes as he slipped behind a wall. He covered his face with his hands, rubbing at his eyes. He wrapped his wings close, finding no warmth gained.
He stayed like that for a while, ignoring the shouts of other students and even Vargas trying to get his attention.
They stopped after a while. He turned to find the class gone, and began to panic near immediately. Would he get a 0 for this? What would happen? Would he get detention? What if they tell his moth-
He felt a gentle hand clasping his shoulder, then moving down to rub his back in soothing circles. This was followed by a boisterous voice and the smell of sweat. He jolted, turning to look.
Vargas was standing in front of him, with Jade at his side. The second year gave him a soft smile and a courteous nod.
“Rosehearts.” Vargas addressed him. Riddle flinched again, and Vargas raised his eyebrows. He coughed, then said softer, “Sorry. Rosehearts, since you’re having a bit of trouble with flying, and Leech is as well, I’ve decided that you two will be taking private lessons with me after classes every day until you can do that test. Since this was your last class, we can start now.”
Riddle stares, wide eyed. “You…you’re going to teach me?”
“Tutor.” Vargas corrected, “Both of you. Frankly, you’re both abysmal at it right now. And remember, I’m taking time out of my busy schedule just to help you. No turning back now!” He grinned, gently patting Riddle on the shoulder.
“Let’s get started. Since you two seem so nervous,” Vargas grinned, turning to Jade, “We can start at a lower level. C’mon, let’s get flying boys!”
Octavinelle all have artificial wings, they're mostly for show/to fit it though. They can use them to fly, but don't really know how and/or are afraid to.
Azul stared at the giant three boxes sitting on the desk in his VIP room.
Idia shifted from foot to foot, watching him intently, “Well?! Are you gonna open it?” He blurted, then immediately looked like he wanted to sink in a hole.
Floyd grinned and laughed, reaching forward to take his box. Sliding the lid off of it, he was greeted with sleek, translucent wings that looked less like a birds and more like an insects.
Idia gulped and began to stutter an explanation. “Y-you asked for something interesting, so I studied flying fish in order to understand how they fly best. Th-these should fly just as well as organic wings, but they’re modeled after the m-modified fins of flying cod…” he said.
Floyd grinned even wider, “Fuckin’ dope as hell. Thanks a million firefly squid.” He said, letting out a delighted giggle. He turned, slipping on the wings to try them out. They fused to his back magically, and he let out an experimental flutter. “Hell yeah.” He said.
Jade opened his box next, being met with simple feathered wings in soft, slate grey with dark, dirt brown around the tips of them. He tilted his head, holding back a smile at the sight.
“You said you w-wanted an unassuming set of wings,” Idia began, “Statistically speaking, p-people tend to find neutral colors, other than blacks and whites to be s-soothing or unremarkable.” He gulped.
“Modeled after a finch’s wings, yes?” Jade said, running his hands over the feathers. “Your craftsmanship and attention to detail is commendable.”
“Thanks.” Idia whispered, then mumbled something to himself. He fidgeted with his hands before turning to Azul.
Azul, noticing his eyes, shot him a charming little smile before opening the box.
In his box laid a pair of large, sweeping wings, then when untucked would undoubtedly be near as tall as Azul himself. He looked back to Idia, quirking an eyebrow.
Idia began to relax, leaning forward, “I based the wing patterns of the bleeding heart pigeon, but you said you try and keep a distinct figure, so I made sure they were long. If they’re too long, I can always adjust them to the right length, I kind of had to guess with Ortho hovering near your height. Anyway,” he continued, running his own fingers across the feathers, “They have a shiny, blue-green color that I thought would match your dorm uniform, and some striping for intrigue.” He said. He looked up and grinned at Azul, who was smiling silently at him.
Idia gulped, retracting his hand, “If you don’t like them, I can-“
“I love them.” Azul said earnestly, “You did an excellent job. Your side of the deal is nearly finished,” he said. He lifted the pair, then slipped them on. Just like with Floyd’s, they quickly fused to his back and he turned, extending them slightly. He smiled. “I’ll have that file for you by tomorrow night. A deal’s a deal.”
The rest is up to you! Hope this isn't too long of a request, I have a lot of thoughts lol. Have a great rest of your day/night
Savanaclaw
I only added Savanaclaw due to the large beastman population. I don’t think they would have wings - naturally or artificially, for one specific reason.
They are creatures of the land. Born to run and stalk and hunt, not to fly. The merfolk of the sea might be content to galavant in the skies, or at least pretend they are, but beastmen have no such inclination.
Leona may have an artificial pair at home for political reasons, but it’s not something he would ever use.
It’s not as though they’re afraid, either. Broomsticks and magic carpets do exist still, and they aren’t afraid to use them, but it simply feels so unnatural to use wings in particular. It throws off the body weight, it’s annoyingly loud, and the skies always have at least five freshman thinking they own it, bumping into others and divebombing their pranks.
Pomefiore
Vil’s wings are reminiscent of the rainbow crow. Every movement and shiver, every time they puff, it looks iridescent. It changes from black to red, orange, green, pink, purple, and every color in between.
And yet still, despite the magnificence…
Every role is for a figure shrouded in darkness. A villain or a fiend, plotting and cursing at the sun. Every child in town coward away from him, whispering his name. Every time he wanted to play as a kid, the others turned their backs to him. Most of his memories of that time were of beautiful blush pink or soft grey or mottled brown or periwinkle blue wings, turned toward him as others said his name in hushed tones.
He preens at his feathers idly, fixing the few what wee slightly out of place, plucking those that were loose. He gazed at his wings disdainfully. They were soft, and fluffy, and contained very color he envied as a child, except for one.
No matter the years, black wings were still seen as evil. Every villain had them in every good story, and ever hero had lighter colored ones. Maybe they were a butter yellow or a soft silver or maybe a mix of colors. In any of Vil’s films, though, they were pearly white with grey tips.
It as perfect symmetry, wasn’t it? This idea of black and white, good and evil. Vil Schoenheit, destined to play a villain forever, and Neige Leblanche, the hero, the saint, the innocent.
Vil plucked a feather, glaring at it. He sighed, then dropped it. There were always potions to change it’s color. He could always cut them, and get artificial ones. He could change himself, fit every mirror image. Oil black feathers fell from his hands. He turned, walking silently away from the pile of them. He didn’t care to see how they would drift away in the breeze, or the way a child might gawk and cry in panic at the sight. It was simply too much to think about.

BLAZING TOUCH EXCERPT
Hey so I know I've been a little inactive with writing lately bc I've been having rlly bad writers block- but my need to respond to every single fucking comment on my wattpad has lead me to rereading a lot of my writing and I actually really like this chapter from Blazing Touch so I thought I might share it to help tie it over until I can finally post my new ff.
For a little Background: it's about Kiri's twin (an OC called Akoya) who goes w them to the reef and its a little enemies to lovers with Aonung. In this part, Kiri's gone into her seizure (the plot kind of follows twow) and Akoya's so worried for her twin. Also Khalo is their friend from the Omatikaya clan <3
It also switches POV
Hope you enjoy pookies and click the link on Blazing touch if you want to read more
━━━━⊱AKOYA POV⊰━━━━
"What?" I say, pulling out of the trance-like state I must have been in and looking back at my mom.
Neytiri is crouched in front of me, worriedly studying my face, and I realise several tears are sliding down it.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes," I say quickly, which must just be a reflex at this point. "Why wouldn't I be?"
Mom moves closer to clasp my hand.
"My child, you can tell me. What is going on with you? Are you missing the forest? Is it Kiri? Is it Aonung?"
"No!" I say loudly. "I'm... yes. I'm just so worried about Kiri. She's my twin."
"Of course, Koy," Neytiri says, smoothing my hair. "Norm is on his way. Your father called him-"
"Norm?" I ask incredulously.
"Yes," my mother says, rolling her eyes.
"But what if he can't fix her?" I ask. "They're all just humans and they can't do anything. She needs to wake up Mom."
"Oh come here my child," Mom says, pulling me into a tight hug.
I let her embrace me for a few moments, but when I pull away, she speaks again.
"You have to go outside now. You've been cooped up in here this whole time, and people want to see you."
"Who?" I ask suspiciously.
"You know who," mom says, and she pushes me outside before I can say anything else.
And of course, I have to run straight into Aonung.
He must have been waiting outside, and he instantly reaches out to steady me. I push his hands off and move away quickly, careful to avoid eye contact.
In a hazy memory, I recall the last time I saw him I had cried horrifyingly embarrassingly and he had held me tight while I tried to fight my way to get to Kiri.
No one ever saw me cry, especially not annoying, infuriating, handsome skxawngs that make my life so hard and need me to protect them all the time.
"Akoya, wait!" He calls after me, but I tuck my hands and tail in so he can't grab anything as I move onto the beach.
"What, Aonung."
"Are you alright?"
"Why?" I say, turning to glare at him.
"What?" he says, and I'm a little shocked to see the hurt in his eyes as I wonder his intentions.
"Why do you care? What do you want?" I shout, hopefully far enough along the beach that it won't carry into the village.
"You know I care, Akoya," Aonung says, so softly I could almost imagine it.
Eywa, I hate when he does this, giving me the sweet, nervous look that makes everything melt and makes me not want to hate him anymore. But I do, because everything is too confusing and hatred is the only way I know how to cope.
"But why?" I ask desperately as he moves closer, trying to get me to look at him.
"Because it's you Akoya," he says.
What does that mean?
And maybe he understands my confusion, because he keeps talking.
"Because I can't stand when you cry and I hated seeing you like that. But it was okay because it was just me. I told you, Akoya, you can't disappoint me."
His hands find mine, and I realise that as he was talking, they had relaxed out of their little fists and intertwined with his much larger ones.
"I hate that you saw me cry," I whisper, staring down at our interlaced fingers. "No one ever does."
"I hated that you were crying," he whispers back, and I feel his eyes roaming all over me from his considerate height. Has he gotten ever taller? What is that sound?
There is a faint thrumming all around us, a familiar sound, and I gasp.
"Norm!"
"Uh, what?" Aonung asks, cocking a brow at my exclamation, but I pull away and grin up at the sky.
"What is that?" Aonung asks, staring at the helicopter.
Dad is running towards it, where he guides it to land on the landing strip. Norm hops out as Aonung and I sprint towards it, when I recognise the other figure moving out of the helicopter.
"Khalo?"
Sure enough, he turns, my... friend from the forest. His smile is so familiar as it stretches across his face at the sight of me. I let out a squeal of joy and leap onto him, and he hugs me back just as fiercely as I wrap my arms and legs around him.
━━━━⊱AONUNG POV⊰━━━━
Something spills, all hot and blazing and scorching inside me as I watch Akoya light up with joy at the sight of the other guy. I study him.
He looks our age, only a few centimetres shorter than me. He isn't quite as thin as the Sully's, more muscular and solidly built, and I guess he's a warrior like Akoya and Neteyam.
Then Akoya leaps to hug him, and it all explodes inside me.
The sight of her legs wrapping around him as she buries her face in his neck and laughs is sickening to me, and I can't bear another moment of this blazing feeling.
But I know it's jealousy, and it is impossible to overcome as the skxawng's arms encircle her waist and she whispers something unintelligible into his ear.
"Hey," Neteyam barks at his sister, and I feel some sick victory as they finally break apart.
Neteyam moves over to do some sort of handshake with the guy like Jake did.
"Hey bro," Neteyam says.
"What are you doing here?" Akoya says, still smiling broadly.
Why is she smiling? How come she smiles so much for him?
"I've been helping Norm and the other scientists lately, and I thought I'd help-"
"And you are?" I ask, glaring slightly at the guy as he turns to me.
"This is Khalo," Akoya says, flicking me with her tail as an indication to be nicer.
"Hey!" Jake barks at us, his expression fierce. "Help take some of this stuff up to the village!"
We move off, carrying the weird machines and gadgets that Norm and Khalo had brought with them. I help Akoya, taking a heavy machine out of her hands and walking beside her before Khalo can.
"Is that your boyfriend?" I ask, definitely not sullenly.
"No," she says, laughing and shaking her head. I study her for tells of lying, but I don't see any. "Why would you think that?"
"Because that's what Kiri said, the day of the party," I say, relieved as the memory comes suddenly flashing back to me.
"When?" Akoya asks, cocking her head.
"Don't you remember?" I say, nudging her. "Kiri said 'you are such a maneater' and you said 'no I'm not'-"
"I don't sound like that!" Akoya snaps indignantly as I change my deep voice in imitation of her.
"Anyway, Kiri said you were dating and you went hunting and sparring and cooking-"
"Oh shut up you skxawng," Akoya says, rolling her eyes. "I think you're just jealous."
"Jealous?"
"Yes, jealous," she smirks.
Eywa, how does she always manage to do this. To point out every exact emotion I feel and say it with such knowing, smirking grace that it makes me feel all nervous and blushy and not at all like how an Olo'Eyktan should feel.
"So what if I am?" I ask, and I can see that my change in direction takes her by surprise.
She wasn't expecting this at all, but before she can say anything else, we reach the hut, and the somber, nervously expectant air around it instantly kills any conversation or any hopeful hint of flirting I might have accidentally let into my mind.
Eywa, when did I become so reliant on her?
I don't enter the hut with Akoya, Neteyam and Khalo. I wait outside with Rotxo, both intruders on the family grieving waiting. Nothing happens for a while, when I hear Akoya shout.
"It's not doing anything. Do something! HELP HER!"
"Akoya calm down," Jake is saying, and Neytiri is trying to pull her away from Kiri.
Without thinking, I run straight into the hut to her. She's kneeling beside Kiri, glaring around at everyone in the hut.
"HELP HER. Norm, do something."
"Akoya," I say, reaching for her, but not touching.
My heart aches for her as she stares blankly down at Kiri, and I crouch beside her. She turns slowly to me.
"She's not waking up," Akoya whispers, leaning in.
Without thinking, I wrap my arms around her, but surprisingly, she doesn't pull away or hiss at me. Instead, she buries her face in my neck and exhales shakily.
"I don't know what to do Aonung.
"Get my mother," I call to Rotxo outside. "She is Tsahik."
Mom takes her sweet time making it to our hut, and Akoya is verging on a nervous breakdown by the time she enters the hut. I see Ronal survey everything, and she speaks.
"I see that I am not needed here," she says, turning to leave.
"Please," Akoya says.
I think for a moment that my mom won't listen. Akoya isn't anyone to her, but maybe my mom knows what she is to me.
I see her eyes flick to Akoya and I on the floor, her tented comfortingly in my arms, our tails intertwined, even though I never remember how they got that way.
"Remove these things," Ronal says, gesturing to the weird machinery all over Kiri.
"Wait, I haven't finished taking her pulse," Norm protests, but Akoya opens her mouth.
"Out, you have done nothing!" she roars, and they all jump and scurry out.
"I should go too," I whisper, pulling away from Akoya.
I think for a moment that she'll protest, that she'll want me with her, or maybe I let myself be hopeful, but she nods and releases me.
I wait outside again. I can sense Rotxo's knowing smile from the way I had comforted Akoya.
"What bro," I say, when his smile still lingers.
"You really like her, don't you," Rotxo says, grinning at me.
"Why wouldn't I?" I ask, smiling stupidly, which I try my best to squash. Unsuccessfully.
"She's not like the other girls you've been with," Rotxo says. "I think she likes you back."
"Really?" I ask, and I can't help grinning like a little child. Why am I such an idiot when it comes to Akoya?
"Yeah," Rotxo says. "She always liked you, but she hid it a lot better than you did."
"Hey," I protest. "I hid it just fine."
"No, but she was just clueless. The rest of us knew, we aren't stupid."
"She is a bit clueless," I say, shrugging. "She doesn't know. I don't know why, but I just can't tell her. She won't listen to any hints, and she's just so incredibly stubborn."
"Exactly," Roxto says, smiling again. "You're perfect for each other."
I can hear cries of joy from inside the hut, and I recognise the small tinkling laugh of Akoya. It strikes the strange fluttery feeling in my gut when I hear it, and my own heart starts pounding fast.
Rotxo nudges me, and from the expression on his face, I know what he's about to say is important.
"You have to tell her bro, especially with that new guy back, Khalo or whatever his name is."
"You think she might like him?" I ask, scowling.
"I'm not saying he's a threat, but if you can show Akoya how you feel, the sooner the better. Trust me bro."
"Alright," I say, smiling. "What's your plan?"
"Tiwaìn is having a bonfire tonight. Invite her."
As I listen to Rotxo ramble on, my thoughts simply wander, yet stay stubbornly fixed on Akoya.
On the way her body curves and hair falls and face scrunches and crinkles all cutely and adorably and gorgeously when she laughs. On the way she buries her face in me, and how her breath felt against my neck and hands on my arm as she let me comfort her.
It's humiliating and strange and intoxicating, the way all I want is her. I just want to be near her and breathe her and touch her, and I would give anything, even my future clan position just to hold her like that again.

abandoned(?) wip: the cult fic
Here's one that I really really really want to write because it was for a charity run and it is NOT the fault of the fic or the donator that I got hit with a depression meteor, nor indeed that somehow it was 'easier' to write a bunch of other fics instead of the charity fics that I still owe!! Ugh. The self is a real garbage pit sometimes. So hopefully let's call this one dormant and not abandoned, and so --
Big Idea: which isn't mine, bc charity fic as aforementioned, but -- Jared runs a cult and Jensen joins and there's lots of sexy sex. Pretty much. :) But because it's a cult fic, I really wanted to dive into that, which required plot [spits on floor], and it's really more now about like... lost youth getting wrapped up into a personality & lifestyle just for somewhere to belong. Like cult stories always go. It's an unusual fic for me in that I'd normally never do ageswap (even with J2 -- I prefer to keep them as is) and I don't actually have much interest in irl cults, but it's interesting as a stretch in that sense.
Why it was abandoned: because plot!!! Ugh. Plot is the worst, idk how people are like 'ooh I wanna get all involved in this murder mystery'. Yack. But if it's gonna have a plot it's got to work, and it also has to have a bunch of legible and interesting and not-quirky-stand-in characters -- like I want it to read like actual humans, not goofy nonsense a la the cult in Bad Times at the El Royale. So that requires some genuine thought and time put in and probably even a chart, and... #lazy writer noises. But I have some random scenes I think might be good already planned. Trouble would be if I could make Jared-the-cult-leader seem believable and not just like a doofy romance novel figure. My personal trouble with cults is that whenever someone's holding themselves up as a leader because of whatever mystical whatever I'm like, this motherfucker? Are y'all kidding? So I'll have to get over that instinct, lol.
Snippet:
"He renamed it when we came," Allie says, easy. She taps her thumb on the steering wheel, smiling. "He said Wildheart was more right, for what we were going to be." Jensen nods but he has no idea what that means. Whatever the name was before, the wild part at least is right. His grandpa had a farm, outside Dallas, and that was all neat rows, trimmed up hedges, smoothed-out roads with everything exactly in place. Jensen didn't mind it—driving it was easier, he thinks, as they're jolted by the Volkswagen rocking over yet another huge tree root—but it was… Well, it doesn't matter. He'll never see that farm again. He's about to ask another question when Allie turns, again, and the screen of oaks gives sudden way to—open air, a field. The sky opens up above them and Jensen leans forward, trying to see everything. They're on a dirt drive and there are—people, young, maybe his age or maybe Allie's, on the grounds on either side of the drive, working squared-off garden plots—tomatoes, in chickenwire cages. More that Jensen doesn't recognize as they roll past. A boy with red hair waves at the car and Allie waves back, grinning. "Good to be home," she says, to Jensen. Home, Jensen thinks, and chews his thumbnail, scanning the grounds. A medium-sized house, at the end of the lane, painted a faded yellow that needs redoing. On the west side of the house Allie pulls the Volkswagen up next to a purple Gremlin with messy handpainted yellow flowers on the rear hatch, a Cadillac with a rusted-out door and some kind of viney plant spilling out of the broken back window. "C'mon," Allie says, turning off the engine, so Jensen takes a deep breath and gets out of the car into the sunshine, holding his duffle up against his chest, looking around. No one's running up to bug them—the dozen people gardening are still gardening, down by the lane—and Allie flips her keys into her palm, comes around the hood of the car, touches his arm, soft. "Nothing be scared of, sweetie," she says, quiet even though it's just the two of them, and Jensen—believes her. He has to. He wouldn't have gotten into her car, otherwise.

Not to mention that this info is coming months after his departure, during the blood origin pr which doesn't go well, when fans are against the writers bc we all saw s2, plus he and millie where basically the face of the promo for enola, plus the love scene he cut was with triss after geralt thought he lost yen forever, people wanted to see that? A love scene with triss when the love between geralt yen wasn't even established thanks to Lauren cutting their scenes and backstory. And the love scene with Anya it was before yen's betrayal. He didn't denied a love scene with her, they both wanted a romantic and not an animalistic, sex scene (isn't what anti yenralt said during s1, that their bond is pure sex and not love?) and imagine if we had a love scene and then she went on with the betrayal according to Lauren's script, how much more hate yen would get, "she lead on geralt for her purposes" , "she used him" etc. And what scenes he rewrote? Roach's death or he added a campfire scene with ciri at the first episode. Wow what bad decisions! Tell me one guest star or ex producer who isn't on Lauren's payroll that said anything bad for him. In fact the actress who played his mother in s1, in an interview about Valhalla in an unrelated question he said cavill is an example of how a list actors should behave on set. He gave her space, he asked her if she felt OK with her lines or wanted anytbi g changed etc. But there are many ex worker of Lauren's who say how egomaniac is and doesn't listen to anyone. And in the end no matter what info are coming now, blood origin will be released soon and then s4 of the Witcher and we'll know.
i get that changes to the script must be awkward for the writers, but they were good changes. i'd go as far as to say they were changes that made s2 bearable. i can't imagine if they had gone ahead with geralt/triss sleeping together, and then yenralt together when she knows she's about to betray him. or if they'd made a joke over roach's death. and i really do understand how someone behind the scenes would go 'this makes life harder for us' but also, it's making a better show. we don't know what's happened with s3, and if henry fought for more changes there, but as a fan looking at s2 i damn well trust his judgement more than i do the writers at this point. labelling him as a misogynist because he didn't trust lauren's vision is one huge leap. also lauren very recently said they left things amicably, which would not be the case if he was truly being rude to her on set as the rumors suggest.
according to this rumour, his behaviour shifted in s2, so s1 he would have behaved correctly. which can happen, we've seen it happen before with tv stars where they behave well because they feel they're on a probation period and then act up when they know the show is a hit. but honestly it just sounds more like henry felt more comfortable to put his foot down about things he was uncomfortable with? especially the shirtless scenes thing, that man had to dehydrate himself for days before filming the shirtless scenes in season 1, i can understand why he wouldn't want to do that again. being uncomfortable with shirtless scenes and sex scenes is something the writers should be taking on board for all actors, especially when they're not necessary to the story and are just being added in so the show can get some gratuitous nudity for viewers.
i can see some things within the rumours being true, but a lot of it reads like an overexaggerated account of one side of the argument. like if you had been ranting to a friend about the things that had pissed you off, and that friend had then given a statement about it. there might well be grains of truth within it, but a lot of it reeks of exaggerated bias. i do genuinely think there was a disagreement between him and the writing team that left to him leaving, but netflix 'firing' him seems like a stretch, it seems more like they both decided that the best thing to do was for him to leave the role.

15, 17 and/or 29 for the fic writer's ask game :) ?
15. how do you come up with titles for your fics?
i usually use song titles or song lyrics and sometimes the title takes me 2 seconds to come up with while other times it takes forever to find something that feels fitting. i also use quotes or concepts from the source material for some of them.
17. what's something you've learned a lot about while researching for a fic?
the local flowers and birds from pennsylvania come up in almost every deer hunter fic i've written and as i do not live there i've tried to make sure they're accurate species or varieties to feature. i know a lot about flower language already so i try to incorporate my knowledge of flower language with the things i've learned while looking into this. that way, i can combine new knowledge with stuff i already know the find what i think are the perfect details to use in a scene.
29. share a bit from a fic you'll never post or a scene that got cut from an already posted fic
so like i wrote parts of a deer hunter western au awhile ago and i don't think it'll ever get posted bc i'm really not that knowledgeable about westerns and i probably got a ton of things wrong / there are people other than me who would do this better. but i will share a little here now:
Nick wracks his brain for any scraps from the past several days, coming up with almost nothing. He knew the whole time, and this is the one thing he is certain of, that Mike had always remained beside him. He had never forgotten that.
It’s after midnight when Nick turns to Mike, who is drifting off. He doesn't want to startle Mike from what must be one of the first times he’s really let himself rest in a while, but he has to say what's on his mind. “Hey,” he whispers. “I just wanna say. I do want to go home. I always did. I just didn't think I was good enough anymore.” Nick snuggles closer to him. “Like, like I was bad forever. Corrupted. Ruined.”
“I don't care if you are ruined. You're not, but I don't care if you are. I love you ruined. I love you every way.” Mike kisses him right on the lips, holding the back of his head. Nick eagerly responds and sinks into the soft touch.
“I promise I’ll tell you everything,” Nick says between kisses. “I promise when I can I will.” He lets Mike hold onto him fiercely and they kiss for a while longer until they're both too tired to do anything but lay in one another’s arms.

Hi!! Okay for comic recs, if that's okay - I'm not a big comic nerd because I don't like the gritty style as much (not saying that all are, that's just what I've been exposed to). I do love graphic novels.
But I've watched Young Justice and read the Batfam webtoon and am now a massive Dick Grayson fan. Do you have any recommendations for DG content? Thank you!!
ok sorry i saw this when i was busy and then forgot about it but YES i do have recs!
the lost carnival (michael moreci) - you said you like graphic novels so this is my first rec! it's a dick grayson stand-alone graphic novel about dick going back to visit haly's circus and sort of discovering this history of magic and romance and tragedy. i love this graphic novel. it's maybe not the most CANON canon thing but the art is GORGEOUS and it's a really sweet story.
robin: year one (chuck dixon) - this is among my favorite comics. it's a four book series featuring dick right after becoming robin, following the origin continuity established for him in batman: dark victory. it's very cute, it's sort of a coming of age story, and i adore its portrayal of dick and bruce's dynamic. (in general, chuck dixon is a good writer to look out for with robin comics—he has a really good run on tim's robin in the 90s. he is unfortunately annoyingly conservative but his writing itself is really good and he keeps his politics out of his comics, so. death of the author, yadda yadda, it's hard to avoid in comics but again his writing is really quite good)
batman chronicles: the gauntlet - this is a single-issue story, again from dick's early days as robin. the premise is basically he's got this final test before bruce will let him go out as robin officially: make it a whole night in gotham city without bruce finding him. but then! stuff happens! bruce needs to get to him to help him but uh oh! dick still thinks they're doing hide and seek! anyway yeah this comic is really well done and i like it a lot.
batman: year three (batman #436-439) - dick (now nightwing, post jason's death, JUST before tim) comes home for the first time in a while just in time for tony zucco's parole hearing and ends up revisiting the circumstances of his parents' murders. disclaimer that while this has been on my list for a while i haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but it's sort of the first real deep dive into dick's origin story and it's written by marv wolfman who i 100% trust. (anything by marv wolfman is also good to check out - he's responsible for aging dick into nightwing and giving him his own identity outside of being batman's partner during the new teen titans, which i haven't read much of but which is supposed to be very very good)
some other stuff i haven't read yet but have heard very good things about:
-nightwing (1996). chuck dixon's run. i don't like the art style which is why i keep failing to read this but the story is well regarded.
-the new teen titans. again, i trust marv wolfman. i did start reading and loved what i was seeing but haven't gotten very far. this is an ensemble cast and not just dick but you said you started with yj so you should be fine.
-batman: gates of gotham. batman!dick and the rest of the kids dealing with a resurfaced old old gotham mystery. the only reason i didn't finish this is i got distraced bc im trying to read like ten different things at once
-the current run of nightwing written by tom taylor is also supposed to be pretty good. i definitely love the art style but i've been putting off reading until more of it got uploaded to dc universe infinite. if i try and get caught up now i'm going to want to read them as they come out by going to the comics store and buying individual issues and that is bad for my wallet. ANYWAYS. it looks good so maybe worth checking out.
and that's my list for you! this is probably way wordier than you were looking for but who am i if i don't type up paragraphs and paragraphs when asked about my opinions. hopefully this is helpful and have fun reading!

every day i see Takes and i am being so goddamn brave right now
ppl really need to be taking into account that their watch/rewatch is taking them through material that is 5, 10, 15+ years old and some of that comes with "period typical" warnings. and "period typical" means that some of these creatives have demonstrated in meatspace they've grown and changed. and when you contextualize it in its own time period and look at contemporary media, spn is pretty par for the course and up against shows like house md (which is a trash fire of bigotry) it's not even that bad. bc the thing is that spn has always, from the pilot, had a beating bleeding heart on its sleeve. its missteps are bad and i'm not excusing that, but spn's issues with racism and misogyny rarely feel like they're coming from a conscious place. (except gamble who has major "white woman who crosses the street to avoid a black man" vibes. tho, charmyder and some others seem pretty cozy about their prejudices too and did not show much growth.)
and while i don't think that unconscious and unexamined bias merits forgiveness... i look at house md (which has a substantial fandom overlap) and see how it makes the conscious choice to take the most offensive route possible at every point. to constantly make racist, sexist and misogynistic jokes. to make plotlines out of acephobia and transphobia being totally okay and justified. and somehow THAT gets a pass from hypercritical ppl overlapping from spn fandom? tbh i'm pretty disgusted with that aspect of the fandom.
that's a bit of a derail from what i'm trying to say here but it's exhausting! and it shows just how performative some ppl's criticism of spn is. parroting that something is Problematique™ without actually looking at it yourself and trying to understand it in the context of when it was written and aired, and not putting in the work to consider the impact of that makes it difficult to actually understand what the show was saying and why certain things happened the way that they did. which fucking again, is not me excusing it (i feel like this is gonna get a "how dare you piss on the poor" response if i don't keep saying this), but spn was such a long running show that context is needed to do a reparative reading and accurately and adequately critique the show's issues.
it's so easy to write off kripke and some of the other writers based on their early writing on spn (and some of it is horrible), but then you look at what they've done since then and you can see them grow and change and also see that they've gained the skill needed to approach things with nuance that they were not capable of with spn. a lot of them experienced growth both as humans and writers and i really wish ppl would actually look at that vs just saying "this is awful and i'm going to gnash my teeth about how awful it is and have a bad time engaging with something that sparks no joy."
if you cannot put in the work to critique spn accurately and accept its faults and recognize that it is of its era and creatives who worked on it have grown then i just don't know what to tell you.
maybe just find a different fandom.

sorry i really don't want to start drama but how is it wrong to say lucy is a waste of screen time or an unnecessary character? like they introduced her with a cheating storyline that will most likely not be the reason bt will break up bc it's gonna be about ethical conflict so why introduce her in the first place only to create cheap drama that ig going nowhere and everybody hated? how was that a breath of fresh air exactly? why couldn't the writers just use that same screen time on other characters instead of wasting it on her?
tldr: the show does not exist to make random fans like you happy.
every time i say "the people in my inbox don't understand media literacy" it's mostly a joke, but boy oh boy y'all continue to make me believe it!
here's the thing about plotlines -- they have to start somewhere. you can't just have a big bombshell drop with no setup. it's bad storytelling. so they have to set it up -- the cheating storyline was that setup. having buck cheat on taylor (which was about eddie as much as it was about taylor, btw) led to their fight about taylor feeling like buck trapped her, and more importantly, led to the conversation between buck and maddie about buck clinging and settling. it also led to the taylor/lucy conversation about things getting messy, which in turn led to taylor being the ones to make things messy. if you can't see the obvious thread of story that that follows, starting with the cheating storyline, then i genuinely don't know what to tell you.
also, y'all really need to stop invoking characters of color you had no interest in just to justify your lucy hate. it's annoying, it's telling, and most importantly, it doesn't make sense. anirudh is out there making a name for himself in roles that aren't reoccurring spots on a fox procedural. tracie is literally a huge actress with other priorities. they have other jobs, their own lives, and most importantly, they're reoccurring characters. lucy isn't "stealing their screentime", because by all odds, the storyline would not have worked with those characters. lucy is there as an outsider looking in; she's almost certainly the audience-insert character, there to show the ways in which the 118 work. the breath of fresh air is that lucy is not part of the family -- she doesn't fit into the dynamic the way the other characters do, and it goes to show how the 118 is co-dependent and so entwined with each other's lives.
the writers aren't wasting time on anything. they very purposefully choose which characters interact in a scene, because newsflash, it's their goddamn jobs to do so. you guys need to get off your high horse and stop pretending like you know better than people who's literal job is to write this story. you complain at every turn when things aren't going exactly the way you want/expect, and it's genuinely so exhausting that i don't know how you keep up with it. i barely can.
the drama wasn't cheap. if we get buddie roommates era, the only reason that was able to happen was because buck cheated on taylor and then asked her to move in. i'm going to start assuming that y'all hate buddie roommates era now if you hate the cheating storyline btw.
anyway, i'm not trying to sound like a bitch. but you guys purposefully misunderstand the role lucy plays to justify your hate for her, and then come into my inbox trying to tell me she's a terrible character and a waste of space like -- when have i ever made it seem like i agree with that take? if you want to complain about lucy, go to twitter and suck their dicks. i'm sure they'd love the attention.

Honestly XY Megas is one of the all time Pokémon mechanics ever.I loved the fact megas was built of trust and love between the trainer and Pokémon.
I know a lot of people want them back(including me) but I don’t think they ever will unless we get a x and y remake which I would love.
I get you with the open world thing cuz I don’t people many if any open world game so sometimes my unfocused brain gets bored if I don’t have direct orders on what to do.
I don’t know if u played arcues but for me Im struggling to complete it idk why but I cuz cant lol so I hope I don’t for this game.
And yes the teams team skull and big bad guzma will all ways be favs becausw of the goofiness.HOWEVER how this was balanced out was with the Aeather paradise plot making it serious when need be and to show a more looming threats hiding underneath.
Team yell was so lazy I don’t even think they gave it more than a minutes thought. To me it was also like they wanted to replicate the vibe of team skull but failed miserably. So I hope they bring it back with this regional evil team and make them super evil again.
And with the badges thing I’m split to be honest. It does make sense for people to do it at different times seeing as they might live closer to that gym and it’s never stated to have an order(like you said with other trainers and brock)but to make it just makes the build up less important?Like I could go to the last first and takes away suspense.Idk to be fair you could do that in let’s go eevee I think?
(God my writing is everywhere lol)
I have a trainsona as well I just cant hack the children thing.it makes the game better imaginging I’m dealing with all this shit and it fun thinking of me and my Pokémon bonding lol.
I just hope the graphics are good and the world looks good instead of blocky.
Now I’m sorry for rambling lol.
I haven't finished Arceus yet either! I'm ruled by my hyperfixations, so when they switched I wasn't really able to keep playing, but now that I'm Back On Pokemon I'll probably get back to it lmao. a friend sent me a shiny Chimchar bc it was my first pokemon, so I'm really excited to have him lmao,, I've also seen plenty of spoilers by now and omg. Giratina is my favorite legendary, I Must See It Again
I get what you're saying about the gyms too! the final gym leaders always feel like strong obstacles bc you've already come so far, they're the last thing standing in your way,, I've felt that same way about the E4, since they've started letting us challenge them in any order? facing Lucian in Diamond definitely felt a lot more intense bc I HAD to fight my way through others to get to him, and I don't mind it in Unova bc it was the first time we could choose the order, but since then it's just been a lil bland imo. But maybe that's also just bc it's been constant too? I wouldn't mind alternating leagues, or being able to challenge them in any order on rematches.
speaking of evil teams and all that. I know very little will ever hit the personal level of "holy SHIT team rocket's boss is the LAST GYM LEADER," and "MY RIVAL IS THE SON OF TEAM ROCKET'S BOSS????" but. I'd love to have more of a personal relationship with the evil team? maybe a rival who gets sick of losing to you, so they join the villains? or a character like Colress, who's only with them for his own reasons and is still clearly interested in you too. again, I do adore N Harmonia, so I'm partial to his role in everything too lmao. a part of me is hoping that the professors end up involved, bc I think it would be super cool.
I do think SWSH had a lot of potential; Rose did have a point, but the story pacing was a total mess. like,, Galar's air is apparently so toxic that the poison-type Weezing gained a regional form to PURIFY the air, they could've done sooo much with the base ideas they have there.
most of this talking is just the Writer Brain I can't turn off though lmao, I love Pokemon more than basically anything and it's been a constant throughout my entire life; I'm beyond excited for these games and I can't WAIT
AND DON'T APOLOGIZE FOR RAMBLING, THAT'S MY LINE LMAO

Okay, ignore if you don't wanna get into it & or don't have time for rambling lol xD That is a very interesting reading regarding season 6 & the parallels between Buffy/Spike Willow/Amy & Anya/D'hoffryn & as many times as I've thought about these parallels & what the writers might have meant & what we can read out of it...I've just never considered that showing the dynamics in themselves as bad & destined to go bad was the problem per se. Sure, it could've been handled better (particularly Willow & magic which occasionally became a rather too muddled metaphor) but also - it is, after all, a drama & the story is at a rather dark part of the arc. As a huge Buffy/Spike fan & someone who hates 'Seeing Red' with a firey passion - I still think it makes perfect sense that Buffy/Spike went bad & that there had to be a turning point for Spike though I wish it were a different one. Same with Willow & magic - her darker need for power was a long time coming arc & season 6 built it up so well starting with her resurrection of Buffy. Anya was handled awkwardly by the writers a lot by trying to make her the comedy relief but she was actually an evil demon who killed people for a long time & turning back to that (to me) seems clearly destined for bad. I read these parallels as ultimately an allegory for bad choices & unhealthy coping mechanisms which fit perfectly with season 6's themes of young adulthood & depression & addiction & self-harm through behaviors. For as many ways as I think BTVS went wrong with how it handled treating female characters' choices, I'm not sure that I think those situations you mentioned should've been treated as like - good & okay choices? It wouldn't have really fit with what the season was doing in my mind. So I'm curious if you have more thoughts on that, I'd love to hear them. & btw I'm not like, trying to argue or be annoying I'm genuinely so curious there's nothing I love more than overanalyzing buffy lol it's so fascinating & fun to me
(Ok after accidentally posting this when I just had some general ideas laid out now I have fleshed out an actual answer lol anyway)
First off, I always have time for rambling and overanalyzing, so jot that down. Now, onto your lovely rambly ask and an equally rambly overanalyzing reply:
Narratively, of course I get the complexities that come from these relationships and dynamics, they themselves weren't inherently bad, but the effects of them were, where they take the characters and the plot is dark, and I love that, it makes sense at this point in the story (though yeah I 100% agree that some of it really did not need to happen the way it did yes i am talking about seeing red fuck that shit and yeah Anya is way more complex than they let her be and the magic-addiction allegory really loses its potency really quickly and yeah a staff of mostly male writers for female characters definitely makes itself evident at times ANYWAY). Yeah, fundamentally, this is a show, so it needs a plot, and it's a good show, so it needs a complex plot that creates conflict and develops the characters and establishes sets of metaphors to enhance the story and characters, and these dynamics do that and set off a good amount of future conflict, which is great! That's how writing is supposed to work! Woo-hoo for cause and effect! I just meant, broadly speaking, zooming way out, we have characters going to people they know who also happen to reside in the supernatural part of their world, and bad stuff happens as a result, and that is an interesting pattern that we can look at through other lenses other than narrative and metaphorical purpose, if we so choose (and I often do bc it's fun lol).
I agree they're all three unhealthy coping mechanisms and it fits really well in the season, and I'm not saying Willow going to get hits of magic was a great call, or Anya going back to killing as a job is a good career move (even tho we love a girlboss), or Buffy pushing everything down and using Spike to work through her depression was an ideal form of therapy. I was just musing on the fact that all of their coping mechanisms were supernatural in some way, and the show tends to be kind of black and white about demons unless they want comic relief out of them or if they're a main character (and then only sometimes do they get the greyscale treatment, and even less often with the appropriate complexity (hello Anya my beloved)). Of course, this absolutism way of dealing with morality fades as the show goes on, but I do think the writers tended to stick to the "demon bad, human good" concept more often than not, and the fact that these three instances have the coping mechanisms be supernatural beings is interesting. As we went over, yes, narratively it makes sense for these relationships to lead to badness, but pulling back, I also see it as a way the writers are saying "See? You turn to a witch or a demon or a vampire, you're gonna go bad too, they'll just corrupt you." It might be a bit of a radical interpretation of the text, but the idea of a human going to a supernatural being and it having a damaging impact is a common thread throughout the show, and while it tends to make narrative sense, it also says something about how we are meant to perceive the supernatural, and I think it's a little close-minded (again, looking way far into this but it is fun); Buffy tries to be with Angel, a vampire, but he fucks up Buffy's perception of romantic love and relationships, Giles' ex lover friend Ethan Rayne, a warlock, is only ever there to cause trouble, Ford goes to Spike to get turned and a bunch of people almost get killed and he dies, Faith throws in with the Mayor and turns bad and kills people, Maggie Walsh studies and frankensteins demons and dies at the hands (skewer?) of her creation that then kills more people and becomes a big bad, Riley gets his blood sucked a la vampire prostitution and ruins (well, speeds up the inevitable ruination of) his and Buffy's relationship. And the of course we have the fuckedupedness that is seeing red, though that is widely because j*ss wh*d*n hated that people liked Spike and wanted to change that. But even in that case, he was saying "oh you like this demon character? Fuck you, he's evil and you better not fucking forget it." And I guess that's what I'm kind of getting at, we're not supposed to like supernatural characters because they are Bad, we see again and again that demons and magic practitioners are Bad and no good comes from associating with them. But like, why? Not all of them are bad, some are downright kittenish (looking at you Clem, my beloved), and generalizing like that leads to the kind of massive confusion and shame Buffy feels about her attraction to Spike, as well as a kind of boring view on massive groups of people (yes I am calling demons people, that's my point).
So, I'm not really saying these dynamics should've been seen as perfect and good, I'm just saying they're part of a larger pattern that delineates supernatural beings as a largely Bad group, I don't think that's fair or fun.
There is also a whole other layer to this where the supernatural is a metaphor for queerness, and saying supernatural beings are Bad and Wrong and their Badness and Wrongness will rub off on you if you hang out with them is akin to parents not wanting their kids to have gay teachers or friends, or people not wanting to introduce their friends to their partner bc fear of rejection.
Ps- anon you did not come across as arguey or annoying at all! I love that my little dot connecting made you want to talk more about the idea! Absolutely no worries, overanalyzing Buffy is endlessly fun and fascinating to me too :D

s2ep1 the collector
there was so much wrong with this one. so much like jenny nicholson, i'm making a list to keep on track
hawkmoth being hawkmoth
master fu making a mistake and losing everything
hawkmoth akumatizing himself
ladybug's comment about gabriel agreste having a son
i guess they're kinda all interwoven, but those are the main points i want to hit. i'll start with the last one bc it's the easiest.
why did ladybug say that he had a son, as if she hadn't been to the agreste household before and called adrien by his name. the writers really were like, "continuity? who's she? don't know her."
i think the whole idea of hawkmoth is a lot like how the writer/director approached the book of henry (the movie). as analyzed by dan olsen (folding ideas on youtube), he mentions that the writer wrote the script with the knowledge that henry was going to die and his mom was going to (almost) go through with his plans if he did. which is a bad starting point, bc up until henry is hospitalized, we're supposed to believe this 12 year old is going to go into a gun shop and buy a sniper rifle.
and it's the same idea with hawkmoth. it feels very much like the creator of ml needed a villain, and designed hawkmoth without actually understanding what the butterfly miraculous does when it's not in the wrong hands. like he designed the villain before deciding that the butterfly was also going to be a miraculous. or like he was still deciding what miraculous to include.
and the reason i say this is 1) it sure seems like hawkmoth just being a thing was something master fu was prepared for, even tho he didn't have any basis in it. like maybe you could argue he should assume it would end up in the wrong hands, but how would he know what that would look like? and that's also just a baseless assumption. 2) the whole explanation of how master fu lost the peakcock and butterfly miraculous.
he says he made a mistake when he was younger (and i believe he's supposed to be like 100 or smth right?? or am i mixing that up? it's probably been a good 40 or so years since his screw up at least), and i'm hard-pressed to believe he and gabriel are the same age. but he says that that mistake is what led him to lose the tome and the two miraculous. but then makes a wild leap of logic into thinking that whoever possessed the tome must also possess the missing miraculous and be hawkmoth? like please walk me through that logic, it doesn't make sense!
the writers didn't even add an in extra--it was probably sold or changed hands a lot, but whoever possess it now may well be hawkmoth. tho i suppose that leaves a plot hole by itself bc how can you guarantee that all three items stay together if it's changed hands a few times. but i feel like that's easier to swallow than that giant leap from "i lost these things" to "so anyone who has them is hawkmoth."
not to mention, again, if all three items did change hands a lot before gabriel found them, how did he find them together. i mean maybe the seller sold them as set, but if he hadn't, how would master fu have known that anyone would know that they're holding a miraculous. unless the kwamis come out of them unwillingly?
i'm tying myself into knots and getting all jumbled up here on what if's, so i'm going to move on. i still do think master fu expecting the butterfly ending up in the wrong hands and knowing what that looks like is weird from a writing standpoint. it just, again, makes it feel like hawkmoth was a villain first and a miraculous second. or at the very least, was always a villain and never a good guy.
i think the writers use master fu being young and still in training as an excuse for way too many things (i did watch s2 but i only remember very few things, unlike s1, bc in s1 i actually enjoyed the show. by the time s2 came out, the fans were getting antsy and salty). and they do it in this episode bc when marinette says gabriel got akumatized and so that exonerates him/crosses him off the suspect list and master fu just accepts that is crazy to me.
bc you'd think master fu knowing as much as he does about the miraculous, he'd also know that the butterfly miraculous holder can posses themself with their own butterflies. surely, the powers of the miraculous are the first think you'd learn as a guardian!
and while i think it's a fine convention to use, i'm only criticizing it here bc the writers are bad and lazy, as evidenced by the first season.
i do like the implication is that emilie is a bad lady who stole the miraculous and broke the peacock one tho. i support women's wrongs.
i also really love that gabriel's english va slightly lowers his voice when he's hawkmoth.
and it's hilarious to me that the artists literally changed gabriel's entire face shape when he's hawkmoth lol.
also racism and chinese mysticism. unfortunately, i believe we're going to get a lot of that this season. and i'm going to never stop sounding like a broken record.
