It's Cool and Valid To Kin, whatever that means on an individual basis, if it helps you, no matter what that means Like, theoretically I kin worgen from WoW but mostly that means "Hm. I think I was a worgen in a past life. Glad I figured that out, that explains some things, I understand now." And moving on with my life with that Inner Certainty So kinning is hella valid and if u wanna be open with ur kins, go for it!!

yeah like honestly our sense of self is all kinds of jacked up, like even not taking the whole DID thing into account, so for us kin is like.. something that helps us better understand ourselves? and in a way like, also better describe ourselves to other people, like “yeah this character represents me pretty well”

we’ve just also been through so much shit over it bc we got into the tumblr kin community back in like late 2011 / early 2012 and. that was a trainwreck. like if you even so much hinted at being kin you were Instantly a prime target for harassment. so we still like, keep that caution with us i suppose?

(i could also probably write an essay about how strange it is to us to see the tumblr&twitter kin community evolve from like, therians/mythical creatures/etc to like, fictional characters, bc back in ~2012 fictionkin was actively rejected by the community and you were ~crazy~ and then we come back to tumblr after a hiatus a few years down the line and im not sure people even Know that kin is short for more than just fictionkin? its wild)
