The coolest part of the DAO Toolkit are these comments that the writers made for how the lines should be delivered. This is about Morrigan reacting to Alistair hearing all the people died. He apparently cried like a baby... ;o; ;o; ;o;

there are so many notes like this. I don't remember the same kind of notes for lines in the Inquisition files, but those were so hard to look at in comparison that maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough?

bg3 is crazy for being a massive $70 larian + wotc collab game whose accessibility menu features subtitles that are present for less than half of all idle character dialogue and almost zero battle dialogue

A lot of the tags and comments I get on my anti-sab posts are like "omg yes the writing sucks but the casting is PERFECT" or something to that effect and I just wanna say that not only is it not perfect for the reasons I've already mentioned (wrong ages, colorist, ableist, fatphobic, etc), but I also just. Don't think they embody the characters very well.

It's obviously tricky to narrow down what's writing and what's the acting/direction, but I really don't think any of them capture the energy of the characters, like none of them actually seem to *get* the characters they're playing. The closest is maaaybe Kit Young as Jesper, but that's a problem for other reasons.

#like it's obviously really hard to do a good job with a bad script and I dont know what the direction was like but it feels like none of #the choices these actors are making in terms of delivery and how they carry themselves is just...off #the only close one is Kit as he has the kind of Jesper-ish charisma but again thats still complicated #not tagging because i have zero interest in arguing about this #asks

i don't think sarah z is any worse than your average undergrad trying to sound like a scholar 20 years too early, but there's something about her videos that just irritates me. like the hedging is so constant and dense that it sometimes just becomes its own tangent. she talks like she doesn't even believe in most of what she's saying. like 30 minutes of making a point and then 30 minutes of apologizing to everyone she might have offended by making that point.
