Lando

Lando is probably one of the most squeamish people y/n knows. The man is easily going to go fail this test of what he'd be willing to do for her. If the reaction is him passing out at the thought she'll almost definitely not be sharing it with the world.

"Lando!" Y/n calls out managing her best faked panicked voice.

"One second! One sec-I'm just-alright, I'm here what's wrong?" Lando asks with a smile but his expression drops when he sees her amazing acting skills in play and tricking him into really believing she's scared. "Baby? What's wrong?"

"I need your help..." Y/n mumbles biting her lip.

"Help? Help with what?"

"My tampon is stuck."

The amount of effort that goes into not letting a smile break out across her face. It's so much harder to make this believable that she thought.

"Your-Your what?" Lando frowns retracting back with a confused frown. "Did you just say your tampon?"

"My tampon is stuck, the string snapped and I can't get it out." Y/n states actually feeling herself really get into this as she realises how much that would actually make her panic if it really happened. "Can you help me?"

There's a long pause and for a moment y/n is beginning to get offended, but equally she sort of knew Lando wouldn't be eager.

"There would be blood?" Lando asks making her nod. "Ok, I just needed some mental preparation."

"Are you sure?" Y/n asks earning a smile a nod. "I could go to the hospital."

"No. I can do this. Not as if I've never had my fingers in you before." Lando shrugs then looking around. "So how do we do this, should you stand or sit? I feel like I don't need to look at what I'm doing."

"You don't?" Y/n questions trying to restrain her amusement at his words.

"Yeah, but what's more comfortable standing or sitting?" Lando asks moving closer making y/n step back a little panic.

"It's a prank! It's a prank." Y/n exclaims stepping back while Lando deflates. "I'm sorry, it was just a prank for TikTok. I really thought you'd tell me to fuck off really."

"Give me some credit." Lando pouts earning a hum. "Are you even on your period?"

"Not right now, no." Y/n smiles then moving to hug him and catch him in a kiss. "You passed though, good job."

Charles

Charles having no sisters means that he really has spent most of his life unaware of periods and the issues that may come with them.

He's been slightly educated throughout his time having girlfriends. But he's still not exactly the man to go to if you want an explanation of what women go through.

"Charles..." Y/n mumbles walking into his sim room.

"Hey, baby. I won't be long, I'm just finishing up."

"Oh." Y/n nods actually feeling bad for interrupting him when he's almost done.

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm just-I'll wait. It's ok."

"No. I'm done. I'm done. What's wrong?" Charles questions stopping the sim and turning to look at her.

"I have a problem and I need your help but I need you to just not freak out ok?" Y/n swallows thickly making him pull a face.

This man could not hide his feelings if he was forced to wear a mask to cover it.

"What is it?"

"My tampon is stuck and I need help to get it out." Y/n states making Charles pull an expression that she can't even stop herself laughing at it, it's like she's just asked him to murder a child.

"IT's stuck? How is it stuck?"

"The string snapped-Please, Charles I'm freaking out and I've been trying on my own and I can't do it." Y/n panics making him stand up.

He will almost certainly be traumatised, he knows that, but he'll be damned if he's going to let his girlfriend get upset and panic like she is.

"Ok. I will help...We should in the bathroom. It will get messy, yes?" Charles questions making her smile a little and nod.

He gets her into the bathroom before she finally caves into telling him it's a prank when he drops and moves away while she laughs a little.

"You're so cute. Honestly you were so ready." Y/n laughs shaking her head at him.

"I was so scared. I thought I might hurt you." Charles grimaces while she coos at him and moves to hug him lightly.

Oscar

Going as far to say that Oscar might actually do this just if she said she's too lazy to of it herself would not be an understatement. He's so unbothered and having sisters with such strong maternal figures in his mum and grandma. Anything of a womanly issue is something he's happy to help y/n handle.

So this was going to be an easy test for him to pass with flying colours.

"Oscar, can you help me?" Y/n asks making him look up from his phone.

"Help you with what?"

"My tampon string snapped and it's stuck-I've tried and I can't get it out." Y/n mumbles making him smile.

"Yeah, of course I can." Oscar nods standing up. "Is it hurting?"

"You're really just going to do it for me like that?"

"You need my help and I love you, so I'm going to help you." Oscar smiles then hugging her and lifting her up to carry her. "Do you want to lie down and I can do it?"

"No. No. It was just a prank. You're actually the most perfect guy ever." Y/n grins kissing him a couple times.

"I'd do it even if it wasn't stuck."

"I know you would. Because you actually are the best man ever. Love you."

"I love you too." Oscar smiles then sighing. "Well...if that's not happening. Since I have hold of you, what should we do now?"

Max

Y/n loves pranking Max, but this one was one he may not catch onto so quickly. But she also just has no idea as to how he'll react at all.

"Maxie..." Y/n whines rushing into the bedroom where he's getting ready. "Help. Help. Help. Please help."

"What? What? What's happening? Help with what?" Max questions looking behind her as if she's being chased. "Is it the cats?"

"No. My tampon is stuck. It's stuck inside me. I've been trying and it's stuck and I don't know what to do." Y/n panics actually feeling like she deserves an award for the level of acting going on here right now. But she has to really sell it for Max to believe it for more than a second.

"It's stuck?" Max frowns looking very much concerned. "How is it stuck?"

"Well I can't get it out, so to me that means it's stuck."

"Ok...do you need me to get it out?" Max asks not looking all that comfortable but like he's willing to do it if needs be.

"Would you give it a go?" Y/n asks making Max look at her for a beat.

"Yeah, of course. If you need my help, I'll help." Max nods then frowning. "I'll wash my hands first. Because I think that's important, right?"

"Yeah, ok." Y/n smiles trying to withhold some level of laughter.

Max disappears and y/n pouts a little at the fact he's being that conscious of precautions. The man is always thinking of how to do things the "right" way but she really wasn't expecting that from him.

"Alright, are you ok?" Max asks making her smile and nod at him before he kisses her. "You direct me. wWe should probably get you somewhere comfortable right? Should I get a towel for you so we don't make too much of a mess?"

"No. It's ok. this was all just a prank and maybe a bit of a test to see if you would do this." Y/n smiles making him sigh and groan at the fact she fooled him and he actually fell for it.

"I was really prepared to go rummaging." Max states making her jaw drop.

"Hey, there's not enough room to be rummaging anywhere, thank you very much." Y/n laughs then squealing when Max half tackles her onto the sofa and just lays his full weight on top of her. "Ah!"

"You're getting too good at acting. I'm never going to trust you when you ask for help again. I really believed you." Max frowns while she just laughs. "Did I pass?"

"Yes, and extra points for washing your hands because I didn't even think about asking you to do that first."

“how did we end up like this?” jake asks “why so suddenly?” you ask him, chuckling. “i don’t know, just wondering how the hell i ended up taking my best friend on weekend getaways that aren’t really friendly.” you took your head from his shoulder looking at his face, silently admiring his side profile. you smiled at him and said “life makes us do the craziest thing i guess.” jake looked at you, making eye contact. his eyes scanned your face and he started leaning closer, making you do the same. your lips fell into his like a puzzle piece falling perfectly into its place. the fresh breeze from the beach blew into both of your hairs. jake’s hand came up to your face, cupping your cheek and deepening the kiss. you felt his tongue swiping your lower lip, making you open your mouth and letting him explore your mouth. you both pulled out looking at each other, giving one last peck and going back to watch the sunset.

sunghoon loves spoiling you and it makes you feel bad because you don’t buy him half of the things he buys you. he keeps reminding you that it really doesn’t matter if you give him things or not because you alone are already enough to him. whenever he's traveling with the members in work or just a tripe he will be always saying “oh, y/n would love this.” and then proceeds to it for you. he doesn’t even check the price and the others keep saying something like “i don’t know why you spend so much money if you aren’t dating.” he just smiles at them not knowing how to explain it to them. he comes back home to you with so many bags and a cheeky smile. you stare at him dumbfounded and he just sits besides you telling you to open them.

“sunghoon how much did you spend here?!”

“it was just a little, don't worry about it.”

you do the same thing as him, or almost. when you are out by yourself, just shopping for yourself or with friends, you see a clothing item that you are so sure he would love it so you go and check the price, almost crying when you look at it. either way, you take a deep breath and grab his size and take it to the cashier. when you give them your card you always fear it will decline, knowing you won’t shop anything else for the day. when you give him his present he smiles like a kid on a christmas morning. he barely looks at it before he’s pulling you into a hug and thanking you.

“baby this looks so expensive, you didn’t need to.”

“don’t worry hoon, it wasn’t.” a big lie. it was and your wallet was crying, but for him you didn’t mind it one bit.

if you'll forgive the rare mention of shipping from me. okay. so my brain LOVES generating weird, slightly fucked-up aus. and so. okay. sometimes i think about the joke that jimmy is the oblivious protagonist to a harem anime or a dating game in most of his smps. which is obviously a fandom joke more than anything else but like, he DOES have a bunch of these ships. and then i ALSO think about the sometimes-valid, sometimes-invalid way people complain about shipping warping his and other people's characters. (for the record that's just how fandom works shipping or not shipping i take a neutral stance on this, it's just important for the au idea.)

so my brain came up with: the jimmy dating sim au. in which jimmy suddenly wakes up and his life is a dating sim. and at first he's... very very jimmy about it. he preens. he LOVES the fact the world suddenly seems to revolve around him. it's GREAT. he can see dialogue options and he still somehow sounds like an idiot when he talks to people but that's fine because he still chooses the BEST OPTIONS. he's doing GREAT. this is the BEST THING THAT'S EVER--

although. hm. it's... a little weird the world is revolving around him? grian and joel aren't being mean enough actually, which seems like a silly thing to complain about, but like, look, he likes it when people are mean. and tango is silly and sweet but he's--he's not normally that focused on jimmy. he's a project guy. and scott is--look, it's weird he's not flirting with anyone else, right? like, that's weird? and, and okay, he's... not sure how to name what's going on with fwhip but there's not enough animosity, and whatever martyn is doing is like, look, jimmy's used to being shot down more on this one, and--

and once jimmy starts seeing it he can't stop seeing it. the world's warped around him. he's the main character in a dating game. every time he picks an option that makes one of his friends (his friends!) like him more, it's like another little piece of their personality is chipped off of them. and as much as he loves being the center of attention, he misses being mocked. he misses people paying attention to other things. he misses the bits that are being sanded off. he doesn't want to be the one to break his friends. he misses the relationships they had, sharp edges and all, because goddammit, he likes that kind of relationship.

but he doesn't know how to stop it.

he doesn't know how long he can go down someone's route before the changes get irreversible.

and so jimmy sets out on a journey to figure out how to break the dating simulator he seems to have gotten stuck in and get his friends back to normal. before it's too late.

Best & Worst BLs of 2023

My Top 15 BLs of 2023 are (in order)

1 Our Dating Sim

Korea Viki

Nerds in love, deadlines, gaming, teasing, pining tiny idiots, casual affection, linguistic oops, ADORABLE. If you haven't watched this, it's a must. A perfect short form KBL, an office set reunion romance featuring geeks that really suits 8 eps with no fluff and no chaff. Just comforting and yummy.

I adored every aspect from the casting to the pristinely simple premise to the quietly smooth execution. Sure it’s low stakes, but that makes it high domesticity and extremely warm and gentle. This is a fuzzy blanket of a story - a cozy BL. It lives in my rewatch pile and you know what’s best about it? Every single episode is in that pile. There’s no skipping with this one, it might be good natured and calmly sweet but it’s tight and the pacing is excellent.

Also recieves my 2023 award for best giggle.

2 I Cannot Reach You

AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai

Japan Netflix

This classic friends-to-lovers BL is everything Japan does best. Angsty. Emo. Aching. Driven by real thirst. Yamato is deeply in love with his childhood bestie, Kakeru, and has been for ages, unable to hide his ungainly damaging high school need. He wants Kakeru in every way possible and it oozes off of the screen.

Kakeru is silly and a little simple, but not frenetic or overly camp about it. He is earnest, and genuinely wants to keep Yamato in his life which means giving a romance (and gayness) a fair chance. We watch him realize his affection and what form it can take in a truly authentic way.

This show was impossibly kind to both of its lead characters and I felt almost honored that I got to watch something so lovely and rare play out on my screen.

Also wins the best thirst award.

These were the 2 BLs that got 10/10 from me in 2023. The rest of these got 9/10 from me.

3 My School President

Thailand YouTube

GMMTV gave us a classic high school set Thai BL with tropes like messy boys singing their feelings that made this one Love Sick for the modern age with all the gentle sweetness and pining ache, but none of the dated damaging tropes or issues. Who let my BL be this wholesome and funny? My favourite GMMTV BL offering to date. And yes, I've watched them ALL.

Received the Namgoong award for best wingman 2023.

4 I Feel You Linger in the Air

Thailand grey

IFYLITA is an exquisite BL, from filming techniques to narrative framework. Steeped in history and family drama this is an elegant and classy BL. The main couple (both as a pair and individuals) were excellent, particularly Bright (Yai) whose eye-work acting style is a personal favorite of mine. It's a marker of how great it was that it's so high on my list despite the ending which was very much not what I wanted.

Additional accolade, sexiest moment of 2023 - (the oil scene).

5 Kiseki: Dear to Me

Taiwan Gaga & Viki

The plot is totally ridiculous and slightly unhinged. There’s a gum-ball machine of cameos, elder gay rep, great chemistry from all pairs (everyone is queer), and a KILLER side couple. It involves all the tropes under a very offhand framework of gay mafia gangs + food = love. As a result Kiseki is a poster child for Taiwanese BL, and I happen to love Taiwanese BL. Bonus? They also managed to END IT WELL, which we cannot expect from Taiwan.

"Not even if I have a race." Lando confirms then kissing her gently. "You and I, we're going to be together for a long time and we're going to be very very happy together. Soon we'll be a whole family."

"Ok." Y/n nods, tears still cloud her eyes ass he smiles nervously at him. She looks like she wants to say something. "I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to be sorry about."

"No. I do...I've-My friends have been getting in my head and so have the fans comments online. I haven't been talking to you about it and I've been dodging you because I thought I was crowding you and getting in your way...distracting you from being ready for the season. I just didn't want you to get annoyed at me."

Lando expects to feel some guilt discovering that the reason their relationship was struggling in his eyes was all because she was scared of being a problem in his F1 career and struggling with handling the hate from fans and then her stupid friends. He'll just have to do whatever it takes to prove that none of that matters.

"Your friends are just jealous. Jealous of what we have together, baby. They're probably going to get in your head about the pregnancy and all about me." Lando sighs gently playing with some strands of her hair. "If they're going to be like that I'd rather you just cut the toxic people out. We've got plenty of friends who aren't like that and who don't get jealous when you're living a good life."

Y/n swallows thickly at his words before nodding. Because he's right, she shouldn't be friend with those toxic jealous women who just want to ruin something good for her.

"You've got me too...I'm not going anywhere and I'm not going to ruin anything for us."

Lando knows he's got her locked in. He's just made sure that there is no one who is going to interfere with this and now they're having a baby, he'll get her a ring before the baby is born. They'll tie the knot after the baby is born and they'll be the most perfect little family.

And most importantly, she'll know she's his and he'll never worry about losing her again.

Hey so I'm not good at subtext and I saw you posting about ep 200 of TMA being awesome. I've listened to it a few times and I'm mostly...confused? I don't understand what happened

(I mean, I get what Martin did to Jon, but nothing other than that)

Would you mind explaining why it's impactful to you?

honestly the main standout thing that makes it really shine to me is the soundscaping and vocal editing, and I've seen people take that as an indirect snide comment about the writing before but it really isn't, the entire scene in the panopticon just sounds gorgeous. the distortion and static on jon's voice, the underscoring of the statement, the way jon and martin's dialogue pops out from the sounds of the crumbling tower, it's just. aaaaaaaaaa. I find it really pleasant to listen to, if you've only listened through speakers then I'd 100% recommend trying it with headphones, it is simply very pretty and well made.

from the story side, it's beat after beat of ultimate catharsis for threads and arcs that have been set up for the whole show.

jon going ham and just really brutally killing jonah with his own hands, no supernatural influence, finally fulling snapping and, it sounds like, gutting him like a fish. it's just about the most lively and impassioned we've heard him all season, and, as far as anyone could deserve to do such a thing, he really is the person who deserved to get to do it.

jon and martin both betraying each other and making the choices that the whole story has been leading them to. jon has spent years fighting against his internalized idea that he can't trust anyone and he's the only person who's powerful/expendable/knowledgeable enough to make decisions and solve problems, and at last he submits to it and takes matters into his own hands. martin has spent years operating under the assumption that he's unimportant and incapable, and now just as he finally accepts that his choices have meaning, he sets the plan in motion that ends up getting them both killed. and jon has tried so hard to be transparent and show him trust that he underestimates just how willing jon is to go behind his back and disregard the plan completely.

and the fuckign. web lighter. I have a longstanding obsession with the mechanics of fate in tragedy narratives, and this lighter. hhh. so, fate (the web) was guiding jon & co to release the fears, but to jon's knowledge, killing jonah and becoming the pupil should have been his winning move to keep them contained. as far as he was capable of comprehending, he made all the right choices, but fate (the web) (the oppressive forces that govern all of our lives) doesn't play fair, it planned for this and cheated him. because he couldn't remember the lighter. he couldn't remember that he already gave georgie the catalyst for the explosion.

this tells me a few things: the ultimate end of releasing the fears was always going to happen, there was nothing jon could have done, but, technically, he could have adhered to the plan and lived to spend what was left of his life with martin and the rest of his nearest and dearest. but that was never really an option, was it? jon archivist sims would never have made that decision, that's why martin tried and failed to plan around it, that's why the web tried and succeeded to plan around it, it would never have happened differently. jon made his choice, it made no difference except to doom himself and the one he loves, he didn't have to do it, and it was inevitable.

and after all of that, after the web cheated him, he could still have won. he could have survived the tower collapse and kept the fears. but one of his biggest stated motives, over and over, is that he can't stand to lose anyone else, and martin is not immune to burning buildings the way he is. in an inverse to gertrude, at the last moment, he chose the barest chance for martin to survive over his own life and principles and big picture goals. he could cope with being responsible for killing the world in the abstract, but when it came to watching the person he loves most die right before his eyes, he caved and came around to martin's perspective. the other worlds can cope, he wants to save the man he loves.

A/N: Ahhh my little Lolo and Carlos of course!

Lorenzo knew he was in trouble; you and his Papa were going to kill him. He broke his promise and not only that, but he'd also totally be grounded when Carlos was done with him. Sitting in the headmaster's office was not good.

He knew it was even worse when you walked in and Carlos wasn't behind you. "Mrs. Sainz? Your husband not joining?" The headmaster asks, unsure if he should wait. "He had to stay home with our youngest. So, we can continue." You sit down, casting a soft glare to your son.

Lorenzo bows his head as the words between you and headmaster become muffled. "Thank you, I'll need to speak to his father before we make any rash choices." You stand gathering your purse and putting a sting to your touch on the back of his neck.

"Go to the car. Now," You whisper, and Lorenzo moves quick and climbs into the car. At 16, he now felt like he was 5 and be scolded for touching Uncle Charles's Monaco GP 1st place trophy. Lorenzo sits in the car and watches as you stalk to the car.

It's quiet as you drive home, not saying a word. "Do you understand what is happening?" Your voice was calm, to calm for Lorenzo's liking. "Yes," He whispers. "You're failing, you're lucky that your father's name has come into play or else you'd be kicked out. But, dammit Lorenzo." You sigh and take a deep breath.

"This is a conversation for your father." Lorenzo curls in on himself knowing that Carlos was waiting for them to come home. "Is, is he mad?" You cast him a look and Lorenzo wishes for nothing more than the world to swallow him.

"He didn't come with me for a reason." Pulling up to the house, Lorenzo climbs out of the car and stops seeing his father and his team principle walking down to them. "Lorenzo, see you in Italy." He smiles, patting him on the back and Carlos smiles.

But Lorenzo knows the difference, that's his father's PR smile. "Inside the house, now." Carlos's voice was dark and Lorenzo knew he fucked up. "Pa," "You better get inside that house or you'll stay here in Spain instead of going to Italy to race. And I'll ground your ass into ash. Get inside that house Lorenzo Norris Sainz." Carlos points to the door and Lorenzo whimpers.

His father rarely used his middle name, but now he was and Lorenzo knew he was fucked. Walking inside, Lorenzo see his baby sister Isabella coloring with her kangaroo stuffie and waves at her older brother. Lorenzo goes to his room and doesn't come out until Carlos calls for him.

"Sit down," Carlos nods at the chair and Lorenzo quickly takes a seat. "You're failing all your classes, skipping, and sneaking out to go see your girlfriend while also going SIM. Explain to me why I shouldn't lock you down, and make sure you don't have a life again?" "Carlos," You hiss and your husband shrugs.

"Papa, I love racing, it's all I want to do. I'm tired of wasting my time at school. You left school way younger than me, why can't I? Please Papa, this is my world. You should understand." Lorenzo begs. Carlos sits there and listens and smirks. "You failed and about to get expelled, you're getting your high school degree. You can stop in person classes, but while you travel you are to keep your grades up online. Don't do that and I cut your brake wires. Understand me?" Lorenzo nods his head, Carlos patting him and walking off.

"Mama?" "You fuck up, and I won't make excuses for you anymore young man. Get it together, understand me?" Lorenzo smiles brightly and runs over kissing you on the cheek and nodding. "Of course, I'll make you proud." "You already do, baby."
