kind of plays into the caregiver role but only to an extent. it definitely feels like a character she shifts into. plays it VERY good though

usually something she reserves just for sex. if she calls herself mommy otherwise it’s probably in a nonsexual, playful manner (unless she’s teasing, which will be VERY obvious)

on the other hand…. if you call her mommy outside of sex….. she will be acting accordingly (your hole is getting obliterated promptly)

I do enjoy a lot of deranged Durge nonsense but honestly the most depraved fantasy I have for Durge and Astarion is just how much I think they cuddle.

The way I see it, they probably just get cosy and make out all night for like… most of the game. Sure they probably also legit lick blood off each other at some point and at least one of them is literally turned on by murder but these are two people who have not had full control of themselves or their bodies in a very, very long time. Durge still doesn’t and won’t until the story is almost over. And when they’re not stabbing and shit-stirring and whatnot-ing, I firmly believe they are having the most sickening, tooth-achingly sweet moments full of the most respectful of caresses and probably keeping it above the belt. Maybe some butt squeezes. But you know. PG-13 shit.

So I don’t really care about or think about Durgestarion fucking nasty and being wild and filthy. One day when they’re ready I’m sure they’ll have insane degenerate sex again (you can’t tell me they’re not both freaks at heart) and I love that for them but like. I don’t see it during the game timeline and it’s not as interesting character-wise to me. I genuinely think they’re both mostly focused on figuring out how to get comfortable being present in their bodies and learning how to trust themselves and each other and how to experience pleasure for their own sakes… for maybe the first time ever.

I’m more interested in Durge not really knowing what to do at all and maybe finding out Astarion has really sensitive ears and nibbling on his earlobe just to hear him make a happy little noise — surprised at how much he likes making someone moan in pleasure instead of pain for once.

Or Astarion figuring out just the right spot to kiss on Durge’s neck so he gasps in delight, and how he likes that even better than just feeding on him straight away.

Both of them, on the receiving end of something sensual and gentle and lovely for once and getting to enjoy it without being punished for it or pushed for more. Getting to experience the simple safety of just holding and being held and knowing you’re treasured for you and no one is going to make you do anything you don’t want to ever again, and your partner is happy to help you figure out what you do want when you’re ready.

not sure if my ask sent BUT I’m loving people being vocal about the fandom not caring about eddie outside of buddie. it’s been happening since the dawn of time (lol) and there’s a reason so many vocalists about eddie decided to be loud and obnoxious about it (including yours truly). his journey is nuanced and he’s such a good character to explore a straight-maybe to bucksexual love with but it will take TIME for anything to happen because of that journey. still. you said eddie rights and i love that.

This is the only ask I got from you, so it probably got lost in the blue void if you sent something else. But absolutely, something I noticed during the hiatus, because while I have been lurking around the fandom since season 5, I only really started to actively post thoughts and stuff after the lightning, so I spent a really long time observing people even more when I started posting random metas, or just thoughts, people have this almost pathological need to make everything about Eddie about Buck. I legit remember making a post about Shannon and blocking several people because they kept making what happened with Shannon about Buck, and that's not it. Eddie is a FASCINATING character. He is so nuanced. And he is so well written and acted out. Like, I was casual about the show until fear-o-phobia (tbf that was the 3rd episode I watched live but still). Eddie grabbed me by the throat that day. And there's so much that people give Buck a pass that they would NEVER give to Eddie. And there's so much to explore with him. And yeah, I think his queer journey will involve Buck somehow, but because I truly believe that man is demi and I don't care about anything else. Making him have a complicated relationship with attraction as a whole is so much more interesting than saying he's just looking for a beard his whole life. And the amount of people I saw picking fights about people not shipping Buck and Tommy because "they have this need that Eddie should be the only man for Buck" (when literally everyone in the fandom hc Buck 1.0 as having slept with guys too) that are people I had seen saying that Eddie only ever loved Buck, straight up erasing the whole concept that he might've been in love with his wife is wild. If Eddie is not adding something to Buck and this idea that Buck is this baby that needs to be protected and can do no wrong, then he is being unnecessary or ooc or just plain weird and THAT'S WILD. Sure Buck and Eddie have a compelling relationship, and I LOVE exploring the possibilities around how much Eddie loves Buck, but Eddie exists for more than loving Buck and both of them exist outside of each other. Honestly, right now, Eddie needs some defenders because it's rough out here. If people can pick fights about Buck the way they do, Imma do the same about Eddie. If people don't agree then that's their problem.

If you lose or are going to lose any family members, friends, lover, etc, maybe from the Canon or something else, he'll do everything to cheer you up, highest quality therapy, stuffed animals(if you like those), the entire series of a book you like, he'll even pay for your favorite Netflix show to get a 2nd/'random number' season, he is a billionaire, he won't let you on any missions, he'll make you rest, help you mourn and even maybe help arrange the funeral if you trust him enough.

This man has severe abandonment issues(hc), he has lost his daughter and family, he cna not lose you too.

He is a bit clingy and overprotective, he doesn't, like, read your texts or anything, but he does silently judge your friends, aswell as sometimes glare at anyone.

He has a huge soft spot for you.

If he's in the middle of lecturing or arguing with someone, maybe because of a mission, and you walk in or he notices you walking by, he will stop and say good morning/good afternoon/whatever time it is.

This man will watch soccer, and get pissed off at how badly they're playing, like, you could jsut be in another room or sitting next to him doing your own thing and all of a sudden you'll hear a roar of spanish curses and such, because someone made a stupid move while playing.

He'll make you pack lunches, burritos, Quesadillas, Empanadas, Enchiladas, etc, (now I'm hungry thinking about it😭). If you don't like any of those or are allergic to certain ingredients used in those, he'll make you something else, a sandwich, burger, maybe French fries, sliced fruit, strawberrys dipped in chocolate (if your not allergic), pasta, lasagna, etc. Or he'll just buy you some takeout and put it in a lunch box for you. Whatever you prefer :)

I love Baldur's Gate and the Dark Urge and all -

And the idea of the Dark Urge redeeming themselves after a lifetime of horror by literally choosing to die and go to purgatory forever is really amazing. In fact, it's why I'm so dedicated to the Dark Urge as a character.

The idea of a villain losing their memory, becoming a hero, and then realizing that they need to die not just once, but twice to truly DESERVE their redemption is honestly brilliant.

But.

But.

Withers revives you way too fucking fast.

You literally die...and then Withers instantly brings you back.

In fact, it takes him fucking longer to revive your COMPANIONS than you, and your companions dying and being revived at camp aren't even part of the story, it's just you fucking something up and not wanting to waste a revive scroll.

Withers bringing you back instantly comes across as like, oh, so dying for your morals, being a true hero in the end, a martyr, defeating the villain, which is you...it's totally negated.

You died for about twenty seconds.

I've known people who died for longer on the operating table.

Where is my lover crying and clutching my body?

Where are my friends, all looking devastated, because they're all gotten to know me and root for me and truly care about me after I've done ALL THIS for them???

So that they could be safe from me?

Where is the emotion?

He brings you back and then your companions have a single line that's essentially just, "good job buddy."

Karlach says something like, I'm proud of you and Wyll says I'll drink in your name or whatever.

And Astarion has a really obnoxious line about how this means you aren't going to attack him anymore...and it's like... okay.

Cool.

So you guys are totally unphased by the fact that you just watched me die...but I suppose death doesn't mean shit in this game, since you have Withers to constantly bring you back.

Cool.

So then what? Nothing matters?

It's just frustrating because I know it's the cut content curse. They had more planned for Orin and the Dark Urge and Bhaal...but it just feels so underwhelming.

I think BG3's primary flaw comes in the fact that they wanted to build this richly crafted narrative, while also accounting for player choice. And they did a magnificent job of adding SO MANY extra scenes and alternate interactions, to the point where I'm still finding new shit, after like 800 hours of playing...

But the tradeoff is that the character stories...fall really flat, because they want so desperately for a Tav to be the main character, and no one else.

The Dark Urge especially suffers from this, because they made them a murder hobo in one ending, and basically just a Tav in the other ending.

As soon as you are brought back by Withers, you might as well just be a Tav. It has no bearing on anything anymore.

And that's such a shame.

I just wish it had some weight. The Dark Urge has spent their entire life ending lives... it should be beautiful, that they would end their own life to atone...their last victim, would be themselves, as they always knew...but for different reasons-

oh wait, withers is here.

cool, i'm back, guys, let's go to arby's and celebrate.

i just think the game should legitimately make you think you died, at least until a long rest or two.

force the squad to go on without you, make someone else your fourth member.

THEN withers can come to you, maybe in some kind of new Jerrgal-form, so you know he's Jergal for sure, and then reveal he was secretly a retired god.

And honestly, that makes Withers a far more interesting character too. To give him this huge hero moment, and have him say, no, this will not stand. I know he HAS that moment, but it's so rushed.

Let the player breathe on it. Let them FREAK OUT. Can you imagine how much stir it would've created, if Dark Urge players LEGIT thought they were dead permanently?

That would've given their sacrifice real weight.

But Larian was scared, probably, of players being upset that their characters are dead, even though that kind of sacrifice is literally the most heroic thing you could do in the game, besides become a damn mindflayer.

So some sacrifice! You sacrificed ten seconds of your life, and your companions barely care.

Alright. Fine.

I can’t get over Chilchuck seeing Marcille like she has anime sparkles around her hair. How long have you stared at it. It’s like with the handsome Senshi where everyone is like "no this looks legit and absolutely like the real one" but her hair is shinier/prettier in the changeling than in the actual her

It drives me crazy that Marcille styles her hair every day for herself but little does she know she’s giving Chilchuck the show of his life, daily arranging his favorite thing aka blonde hair into different unique ornate hairstyles. Not that he cares about the details but ohh my god.

It makes sense that Chil would be the first one to notice her hair being all loose and messy then. At least she's strong tho." I'm getting carried away but yes this scene was relationship-defining in some ways

Only Friends Character Rankings Episode 5

It's The Date Episode! And honestly, fucking outstanding. The core six pair off and spend the day lying to themselves and each other. It's mostly cute and sweet but the undercurrent of shit about to hit the fan hangs over the entire episode. It's sort of the calm before the storm. Last week, Boston held onto his top spot in the viewer rankings for the second week in a row, with Ray and Nick rounding out the leaderboard. Can the most miserable bastard in the world do the hattrick? Here's this week's winners and losers.

🔺1. Top (2)

Why don’t you try Lasik? A friend of mine had it, and they said their eyesight is so much better. But now that I think about it…I don’t want you to get it now. I like you better looking like a nerd.

Look, ain't nobody more surprised than me, but this man legit got every goddamn thing he wanted this ep. Top putting on the perfect man act (and I am more convinced than EVER that it's an act) was fascinating to watch. Studiously ignoring all the various signals put out by various other men all day, knowing Mew's eyes are on him. The fucking INSTAGRAM COUPLE PHOTO. And then the knockout blow: when he looked Mew dead in the eye and said 'I love you' I said out loud OH YOU MANIPULATIVE MOTHERFUCKER WELL PLAYED. Do I think Top has bad motives towards Mew, no. I just think he likes the idea of Mew a lot more than he actually likes Mew. And now that Mew's given up that bussy, I'm counting down to Top finding a mistress to give him some variety.

-You’re acting weird. -Weird how? I’m just… I’m just shuffling up my style.

Speaking of getting everything you want, Nick looked like he won the lotto when Boston started talking about settling down. Never mind that Nick is doing ALL of Boston's work for him. Never mind that 3 separate people have now told Nick that Boston ain't shit. Nick is euphoric. Nick has ascended. Nick is doodling 'Mr. Nick Boston's-last-name' in his Trapper Keeper. Nick is going to the gym and dressing more upscale. Nick is giggling when Boston asks to spend the night instead of fucking off as soon as they finish fucking. Nick is headed for a crash so great I'm SALIVATING.

I feel like I should stop sleeping around for a bit. It’s been feeling so empty lately. In the end, I want to have sex with someone I can… talk to for a little, you know? Like, have great sex, have good chats, and…someone I can get affectionate with. Right now…there’s only you.

Told y'all you can't keep a bad bitch down for long and Boston's already bouncing back. He might have had a moment of weakness and tried to be nice for exactly one day, but Nick getting drunk and stoned and running his mouth about how cute Sand and Ray were activated his asshole glands. He smelled happiness and said NOT ONE FUCK OF THAT ON MY WATCH. Boston is that Marie Kondo gif, he fucking LOVES mess no matter how much he goes on about hating drama. He will always poke the hornet's nest. Shutting the fuck up was free, but he just COULDN'T. And thank god, because Ray punching him in the mouth was like 3 of the 5 top things that happened this ep.

-That’s a nice top. Where did you get it? -This thing? It’s secondhand.

Whew Ray's day slummin' it was so classic I shed a tear. I can't really adequately describe his facial expression through the whole day, but 'condescending amusement' is closest. His enjoyment of Sand's company is very real, as are his attraction and hints of affection, but he absolutely does not consider that man his equal, and that's why he doesn't even consider the 'boyfriend' label. No matter what Ray's feeling, Sand's demi-monde, not part of his world. He likes that Sand treats him like he's special, he likes that Sand seems to always want him around, he likes that Sand will take care of him, but he'll never take Sand seriously. This would be true even if he wasn't in love with Mew, but being in love with Mew makes it all worse. Pathetic, I love it.

🔹5. Sand (5)

I work. I save up money. I sleep. I dream. I go to bed alone, wake up, and go to work. Until…he came along. It’s like somebody presses pause on all my 24 hours. Next thing I know…I’m living my 25th hour. Ray’s extra hour.

Oh SAND. I've been saying from jump this is hurting most because SAND KNOWS BETTER. When Sand called Ray his 25th hour I wanted to SCREAM because BABY BOY YOU KNOW BETTER. This dude is either drunk or hungover all of those same 24 hours you are grinding out a living, but you wanna spend your birthday with him because he makes you feel sparkly. He stays sneering at how you ain't got no money and work 17 jobs, but because he does it with a twinkle in his eyes you're blind and deaf all of a sudden. He told you HIS MOTHER DRANK HERSELF TO DEATH and you pour him another drink. I ain't feeling sorry for Sand anymore, he did this to himself.

🔻6. Mew (4)

-Does this mean I passed your test? -Yeah. You’ve convinced me that you really only have eyes for me.

Mew really tried to play a player and ended up playing himself instead. Like, in one way he's won: Top's his boyfriend, and honestly very likely to stay that way. But Mew should have been careful what he wished for because 'boyfriend' and 'faithful lover' are two very different things.

You keep nagging at me, you know that? Who between us is the mother, exactly?

Hey y'all, sorry I'm late but I'm back with another one of these Helluva Boss opinion thingies-

Alright so the new episode, to be honest I enjoyed it more than the previous ones but I have to admit it still has its flaws. So let's discuss that.

So there's the whole Ozzie and Fizz being together, being all lovey-dovey. And honestly? It's the cutest shit I've ever seen. Stolas and Blitzo wish they could have that lmao

I also wanted to point out that I absolutely love the aesthetic of the Lust Ring (well mostly because it's purple and blue with neon pinks, which is different from the usual red that Viv is so obsessed with-). My only complaint however?

Is that the background should be slightly darker because characters like Ozzie blend a little too well with them. I mean, I can understand why the background is bright and all that, but Viv just loves to make her characters be barely noticeable in the shot-

Now, there's a few things I don't like about this episode, for starters, the pacing was absolute dogshit. Like, everything went by so fucking fast, I had to often pause the episode several times just to look at shit in the background or just the scene in general. It was a hard episode to digest, really.

Another thing I found stupid and unnecessary was the whole Ozzie signing contracts with Stolas- it was very out of place and like, it honestly felt like they just added that to pat the run time. Not only that but, why couldn't Ozzie just go to the Greed Ring and beat the crap out of Crimson and his goons for kidnapping Fizz? Like, I was legit expecting Ozzie to go in and do some crazy shit but he didn't- he just stood there, signing a bunch of papers and for what?? Fr that shit was anticlimactic.

Then there's the "accident" that caused Fizz to lose his limbs and horns. Honestly the scene was somewhat impactful for me but at the same time it went by too fast. And not only that, I hate that Blitzo admits that it was his fault, yet he makes everything about himself like- COULD YOU NOT DO THAT, YOU FUCKING DIPSHIT??? And you know what makes me even more mad about this scene? Is the fact that Blitzo had feelings for Fizz and was going to confess to him- WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? Istg can Viv stop making Blitzo being this uwu pathetic sad baby of an OC who fucks everything that breathes? (no wonder she made him canonically pansexual, it just shows-).

I also think it was stupid to make Fizz apologize to Blitzo- like, I don't care if what he did was an accident, that shit was fucked up. And it just seems so off that Fizz was all like "yeah you fucked me up and ruined my life but y'know what? I forgive you because plot reasons". I dunno man, it just doesn't sit well with me.

*Edit: I personally would've much preferred if Fizz didn't apologize to Blitzo, kinda like how his sister Barbie did. Where she just told him to fuck off and that she never wanted to see him again.

There's also the song that Fizz randomly sings at the end- it's terrible. I legit cringed the whole time while watching the entire scene. And finally uhh, Striker and Crimson working together was really stupid, it felt like a desperate attempt to make something look cool but it failed miserably.

I like that everyone sees Afo in their own way. Someone thinks that he understood, family is what Afo always wanted and decided to leave the evil empire. Someone thinks that he knows little about feelings, but wanted to be loved, so this led to the creation of a family, but in the end he left her due to the fact that she prevented him from becoming the “demon king” as his love for his wife and son began to grow. Someone believes that an event simply happened in the Midoriya family because of which Afo left, perhaps he couldn’t stand the fact that All Might had taken over his life and when Izuku wanted to play heroes in the All Might costume, he accidentally got a slap in the face, so Hisashi left so as not to harm the family. I have already asked this question to others. I want to hear your version)😊

AFO is the kind of character that will always have a huge range of interpretations to him. Just because of how dishonest he is in nature we can never truly know his feelings or true intentions. So we can only piece what his actions say and the few thoughts he has.

I note how you are mentioning a lot of DFO so I'm assuming you want my opinion on that too? Because as you know I'm a big fan so will be super happy to give you my interpretation on AFO especially in relation to that.

When it comes to AFO, I always imagined him with no empathy even as a child. This is NOT a born evil thing or anything as just having a lack of empathy doesn't mean you are automatically evil. As there are ways to teach people like that how to get along and have Logical empathy, basically a skill where you can logic out how said people can feel which he clearly learned later in life. But I digress. Basically because of his lack of empathy growing up in a survival of the most violent era would shape his personality. It honestly more a miracle that despite doing anything to survive he kept Yoichi around. Likely Yoichi agrees with this as in the end Yoichi was not benefitting AFO as he had to provide for two while Yoichi couldn't do anything.

Just this fact shows that AFO didn't really care that Yoichi didn't provide any actual benefits. This throws a point that he can be 'caring' to those he deems as company he enjoys. However his lack of empathy makes it so he always ignores Yoichi's input especially after struggling to survive for so long with never being cared for or loved. Without any idea of love or affection in his background, is it any surprise all he equated this illogical attachment too is just not wanting to lose his possession? His first gift? Especially as it been shown he is very envious of everyone having thing that he never had. Like a home, cars, and that includes a happy family. The last one he ends up losing after basically throwing his little brother in a vault for being unruly then seeing red when he leaves with the rebels. Accidentally killing his brother.

All this fact is important as we see he never process or got over losing his brother. Pursuing OFA just for his brothers vestige but likely after over a 100 years he got lonely. Desperate but he would never be honest or claim such a thing, but would allow a 'family' to occur to try and fill the void in his own heart.

I do not believe AFO would hurt his own son directly. Even in a rage after what happened to Yoichi, likely if he realized was becoming blinded by anger that would be a signal for him to leave. As likely he wouldn't be able to live with the idea of murdering his only family again because of rage. BUT making the excuse it because was holding them back.

However, I don't believe that's why he left. I legit imagined he kept up his double life for a long ass time almost shamelessly. Acting like a normal man using the fact he says he 'works over seas' as an excuse to not be around often. While still enjoying the benefits of a family whenever he does come by to visit, hell he was still kidnapping kids you see Tomura and Touya up till Izuku's birth.

And with his lack of empathy sees nothing wrong with a double life as long as he keeps the normal family happy and content. Then they would remain his family forever.

....Then during one of those visits All Might found him. It implied AFO was caught off guard which is what gave All Might the edge likely because AFO was trying to pretend to be a normal guy. But after getting caught was forced to fight and likely was trying to evacuate, only to get his head smashed in and technically killed.

Without his face there was no reasonable explanation he could give that would allow him to see his family. I imagine the quirks to 'change' appearance still required there to be a FACE to be changed. And that is what he's referring too when he claims AFO stole something precious from him. He stole his family away just like Kudou did, hence his hatred being quite strong.

Any interaction with the family likely is by email, mail and with checks just so they are alive. But he can't talk or interact with them at all in the state he is in. Still believing they are his but unable to interact with them like he used to with his face utterly destroyed. Hence his small pestering about being fixed likely was not actually meant in playful jest and something he hounded the doctor several times about.

He left his family not because he wanted too, because he NEVER gives up what he believes is his, but because he was forced too. Unless wished to get another Detroit smash to the face by showing he's alive or reveal to his family his actual job and get them running away like Yoichi.

So basically I see him as a man who lives a double life, an actual legit monster and yet also casually a normal man with said family. What would cause dissonance in others he saw no issue with since his family are his while other people are only useful or not. Until was suddenly crippled and could no longer have the joy of family he had craved, becoming more submerged in his hatred of All Might. Because while didn't care about such a tiny part of his empire falling.

His family is something he will destroy the earth and even the family itself if he must to keep them safe and at his side. And that's how I enjoy him to be in my interpretation.

aaand because I have no ideas what to do lol (+ I want to do a lil' bit of character study! Even though I'm kind of bad at analyzing things.. xD)

This will also contain some headcanons that I have for them btw! ;3

1. Forgiving

They are all so forgiving it's insane.

Like- I get it. Both Purple and King had a tough childhood/was still in terrible grief which made them do the things that they do, but that doesn't justify their actions????

They are legit really forgiving towards someone who abandoned two(2) of them to die and betrayed them twice + towards someone who almost destroyed an entire dimension and almost got them all erased from existence...

(I have no hatred towards Purple or King, btw!! I love them;33 /gen i just don't really agree with their past actions ofc)

This whole "forgiving" thing makes me think that they would probably forgive The Dark Lord, too... (After some very well-deserved apologies, of course loll and if he's still alive- uh)

Actually, though; I have some doubts about that, but who knows.

Honestly, I think them being really forgiving kinda makes sense to their characters... In a way.

I mean- RYGB were all created for the sole purpose to fight. They are the 'fighting stickfigures', which means that they probably have no other choice but to forgive and move on.

What's the point of holding a grudge, after all? They are just gonna punch and kick each other repeatedly without pauses nor breaks anyway.

I think it's just.. A habit, or part of their codes, or they just feel like they don't really have a choice. (Old habits are hard to break)

Orange probably just goes along with them… Or, perhaps, his truce with Alan has made him more open to forgiving? Purple betrayed them twice and King almost destroyed an entire dimension, but I don't think any of that compares to the pain of having his friends deleted (literally killed) without any mercy nor remorse shown.

Perhaps it was the influence of his friends' forgiving nature, or it was just the truce he had made with Alan that made him more open to forgive and move on.

They are all so quick to forgive and move on.. It's a nice character trait but also pretty much a flaw.

Being able to forgive and move on it's great, but when you are so easily forgiving...

Good thing King and Purple actually genuinely changed for the better- (｡･∀･)ﾉﾞ

2. Bond!

Their bond is literally my favorite comfort thing in the whole world... ❤

Like- They are so close. So comfortable with each other. So huggy and clingy and happy and loving and caring and silly and so. sticking. casual-

They are literally the very epitome of Found Family.

And, even if I do ship PolySticks a whole bunch, I prefer much more their Found Family bond, to be honest. ❤ They give me so many siblings vibes aaa They are such a family, honestlyy.

Orange has known them since it's creation. RYGB have known each other since their creation. And, even then, they are all still together and as close as before even after so long. (And, I must say; they keep getting closer and closer as time goes by.)

They are all like a small lil' family; A family that, even after many fights, would never hold a grudge towards each other for too long.

They are like siblings who fight and compete and may be angry at each other at certain times, but who will still do anything to protect the other because they love and care and are a family.

I also like to think that the whole Animation vs Minecraft series is really what really brought them all together to have a really close and loving bond. It's already quite noticeable that, with each passing AvM season, their bond becomes stronger and they become even closer and protective than before.

If we compare their friendship in previous seasons vs now, you can see that their friendship has developed and each of them has grown a lot since then. (so proud of them aaaa)

Their bond is just.. ❤❤❤

3. Each Different Bond!

Can we just talk for a moment about how adorable Yellow and Blue's friendship is?? They are literally so- aAAaaaAA

I fully understand why a big part of the fandom ships them, to be honest... They are so close and affectionate and literally understands each other the most. They are very often always seen together, either just doing their own lil' things, enjoying each other's presence, or going through adventures together. ❤

The thing that makes me happy the most is; Their bond is not meant to be necessarily taken as romantic. It can very well vary of each person's own perspective of their relationship and I absolutely love that.

You view them as siblings? Awesome! Their relationship could very well be from very close siblings; maybe even twins! (Gotta love some healthy sibling relationship rep. too fr fr)

You view them as romantic? Incredible! They are so loving and affectionate, that if they were dating they would be the cutest couple in the world. /vpos

You view them as best friends? Amazing! Having a best friend is like finding a long-lost part of yourself; Kinda like a sibling, maybe even a twin. The relationship of best friends is really something very special. Their relationship genuinely gives me the vibes of 2 best friends, to be honest. (Especially since my friendship with my bffs is pretty similar to those 2's relationship. ;3)

Should I also say that these two are the ones who bring the group the most comfort?? Yellow is always the one who comforts Blue, and Blue is also seen comforting others as well. (Green!!)

They are both like the parents of the group, always being there for their friends and being a shoulder to lean on.

They are so comforting and literally the cutest duo ever... I love them sm❤

Oh! And I cannot forget about Green & Orange's friendship, too!!

They are canonly confirmed to be the closest out of their group of friends, and words literally cannot tell you how happy I was once I heard about this information. xD

They vibe with each other so well; Honestly speaking, Green can vibe with literally anyone so well. lol

They are both pretty chill, and very passionate about their favorite things; (Art! Music!) They are so equally competitive, too.

Their friendship is so cute and casual. <33 They are not as affectionate with each other as much as Yellow and Blue are, but that doesn't make their friendship any less healthy or adorable.

Their friendship is, to be honest… pretty lighthearted to the soul, honestly. I love when they're both on screen doing things together, because their friendship is so…

I don't know. There are no words to properly describe how I feel about their friendship. xD

But their bond probably has to be my second favorite (Yellow&Blue being my first!) They vibe so well together, their personalities mesh so well, and they're just so casual and relaxed and so passionate-

Both are artists, it's worth remembering! Of course, they are not the same types of artists; One is an artist while the other is a musician, but it's still something in common.

And with that in mind… I like to think that when Green isn't disturbing Orange with his loud music at three(3) in the morning and/or Orange working with Alan, I like to think that they both help each other with their passions.

(Orange canonically knows how to play guitar, and Green is quite meticulous, so that's a bonus! Orange helping Green write a song and/or Green helping Orange with the art block by giving him ideas for sets, details, etc.... ❤)

Their friendship is so cute and lighthearted aaa i love them ❤❤❤

Red and Reuben... Just. Adorable. ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

Honestly, Red's friendship with all of his animals is adorable; It's like she's a big sibling to them, in a way.

There's not much to say about these two's friendship, unfortunately… Since Reuben doesn't appear as much as he used to. :'v

But their bond in previous seasons was just so heartwarming. &lt;3

1. Trust Issues

A random thing that I thought of while listening to Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa) - Jagwar Twin, but..

What if, after that whole AvA4 fiasco, RYGB decided not to trust Orange, Alan, or even the outside of their website because they were afraid of being deleted again.

Like- Think about this; They just met Orange; From the way they acted at first, they had certainly never left their website before (or, at least, had never entered computer territory before).

And right after they left their website - probably the only place they knew and were familiar with…

They were immediately deleted. Ended Process. Dead.

And with that… I think that's reason enough for them to be at least a little skeptical about Orange, right? (About Orange and especially Alan.)

After all.. Orange is the one who introduced them to the outside. Orange is the one who brought them out. Granted, Orange obviously didn't intend to get them deleted, but it's not like they knew that. It's not like the fact that they were killed for some reason could suddenly be forgotten just because they were revived.

And, with that thought in mind… I like to think that Green was the first to forgive and give Orange a second (heheh) chance, since they both hugged before he was deleted, and they both canonically have the closest bond. (Maybe that's why they are the closest? Because Green was the first one to see Orange's side and give them a second chance, which later led for them to have a very close bond.)

And also because Green is definitely the one most inclined to give people(sticks) a second chance, hear their side of the story and be the first to forgive them. (GrapeDuo moment!! xd)

They slowly, but carefully and certainly. started trusting Orange and leaving their website more (Until it got to the point where they literally live on their PC now, instead of their website. Probably because of flash ending in 2020-)

That's such a headcanon I will forever embrace. It's character development right there and I love it.

2. Genders & Pronouns!

Hmm! Not really that important, but I like to headcanon them with some genders & pronouns... It's just- really fun and makes them a lil' more relatable, I think..? xD

3. PolySticks

Is it just me or shipping PolySticks just hits different than shipping other ships...?

Like. They are all so canonly affectionate and loving and caring towards each other that it's just so- casual. Inconsequential. The love is there.. It's there and it's not a big deal.

Shipping PolySticks just hits different because there is no things being changed nor removed, they all love each other and shipping them would just make that type of love different, but the love is still there and it's inconsequential and it just. hits so much different.

They are just a small group of friends who is really casually affectionate and loving towards each other, shipping them feels like it didn't change anything, it's just that it's all romantic now. Shipping them hits different, but It didn't make anything different at the same time.

They are just a small group of friends who definitely kiss each other's foreheads and cheeks and proceeds to act casual about it because they've always been like that and there is nothing wrong with it. It's casual, it's inconsequential, it's love.

Other ships hits different because there is development there, slowburn, falling in love; PolySticks hits different because the only thing that actually changes it's the type of love.

They all already have developed, they already have a very close relationship, they already are honest, have mutual respect and care and trust. Communication is slowly being built, but it is there. Their relationship is already pretty developed, shipping PolySticks just means that the type of love they have towards each other it's romantic.

The love they feel for each other canonically neither diminished nor increased when switching to a romantic one. They continue to love each other as they always have, the only difference is that it is a different type of love, but other than that, nothing else has changed.

The love is still there, as inconsequential and casual as it always was. PolySticks' relationship isn't any different from canon, it's just a different type of love now. ❤

I talked way too much about my feelings about this ship and now I felt like most of you probably won't understand my rambling.. My bad- (っ °Д °;)っ My feelings are quite difficult to understand even for me. lol

4. Unusual Bonds

Unusual as in like. We wasn't shown much about certain interactions on-screen, you know..? So we aren't much sure how exactly certain duos are like when only the two of them.

And it's- Kinda frustrating- lol (/opinion)

Orange has so much admiration for Yellow aaa and Yellow seems to respect him a lot and when they are both together- it's like they are just enjoying each other's presence and I find that so satisfying and touching and aaaaAAaaa /vpos (they seems to be very close, too!! Not as close as Green&Orange, or Blue&Yellow, but still close! ;3)

The whole arc with Blue and Green was sooo- aaAAAAAAaaA(/vpos) They don't have much in common but they still?? Can get along so well?? They are so different from each other and they just. embrace these differences and are able to have mutual respect and affection for each other and I just- ❤ (Never forgetting when they hugged as they were literally ready to die together aND aAAAAA/vpos)

Yellow has a certain rivalry with Green but still cares deeply for him and Green cares deeply about Yellow too aaaa- Unfortunately, we weren't shown much of their interactions together, which is sad. :'v Their bond remains adorable, though. xdd

When I said that Green could vibe with just about anyone, I wasn't lying. lol (They are so different but they still care deeply about each other aaa/vpos)

Man.. How I wish Orange&Blue's bond was more focused.. The latter's abilities always manage to surprise Orange and I think it's so cute- aaaldawsdlçadsw (Orange dreaming so much about Blue being so helpful and proactive tells us a lot about Orange's perspective on Blue. &lt;;3)

They both may not be the closest of the group, but they still care deeply for each other and still manage to have fun together!1 yayyayy /vpos (I feel like this season will focus a little more on their bond and I love it yayyyay (*^▽^*))

In the very few.. Very few for sure.. Rare even… Interactions between Red&Yellow and Red&Blue… Both interactions are adorable, although we haven't seen much of them. ＞︿＜

Red and Blue are very similar when it comes to their love of nature; Blue has a love for the nature world, while Red has a love for animals. I feel like this could be explored more which could strengthen their friendship. ;o (They both also give me vibes of being the youngest ones in the group, so that's a bonus. xd)

They're both also the most emotional of the group… Man, they have so much in common, now that I think about it. xD

Their personalities are so different, but they still manage to have some things in common, which I find pretty nice. ;3

Red and Yellow are practically opposites; One is reckless, the other is rational. But they still manage to care deeply for each other even though they don't have many interactions… Which makes me really curious as to what their bond really is like. (Texture Pack showed that they can still have equally fun together despite their differences, so I'm quite curious to see more about their bonding! (o゜▽゜)o☆)

Red and Orange… The best for last of course (/lh) ♪(´▽｀)

Their bond… It's a complicated thing. Or, at least, it was a complicated thing; Orange loved all his friends, that's for sure, but if we compare his bond with the others vs his bond with Red… I feel like he had a certain… I don't know. Bitterness? Towards Red.

Red is the one who inspired and motivated him to really want to fight with them, to really break the wall of their website and join their little group.

And yet.. Red is the one Orange gets along with the least compared to the others.

This is why Lush Caves was so needed; That's why the fight between them felt so much deeper and different than the others. They were letting it all out, all the emotions, all the bitterness.. Everything was finally being taken out in this fight.

The development of their friendship is so beautiful and precise. If we were to compare their friendship Pre-Lush Caves vs Post-Lush Caves, you can see how much their friendship has evolved. How much their bond has been strengthened and how much they seem to understand each other a little more. (While their characters have changed considerably since that episode too!)

The lack of communication between Orange and Red was exactly what led them to Lush Caves… And Lush Caves is exactly what led them to have a better communication and an even stronger bond.

I love every single bond of this group.. But SecRed is probably one of my favorite friendship (and character) developments, honestly. ❤

Does the x-office hate beast?

Cynically: yes.

Less cynically: it's complicated?

Like, here's the thing, right - Beast fans are . . . kinda rare. Sure, there's tons of people who saw the 90s cartoon and really liked him, there are tons of people who saw X-Men 3 and liked him there, there's a whole (almost separate) community of people who are still writing X-Men: First Class fanfic about that version of Hank.

But I'm talking about, will go out and write fanfiction about the character; will draw fanart of him; will actively go out of their way to talk about him on social media. I feel like that's been on the decline for the last . . . fuck, 30 years, probably? Ever since he went from this

to this.

Like, the difference is jarring and immediate, right?

And that lack of a dedicated fanbase made him an easy character to contort to fit stories that certain writers wanted to tell. The X-office doesn't have a ton of people gagging to write Beast, he doesn't headline his own series, he doesn't have a rabid Twitter populace who will fight and scream and shout like Emma Frost or Cyclops.

What do most people think when they see Beast? Like, normal people who don't read comics, who just consume maybe a Marvel movie twice a year, or saw a cartoon when they were a kid.

"Oh, he's cool. SO ANYWAY, MORE OF THAT WOLVERINE."

Beast is not a character with a strong base.

So he's just.

Disposable.

Who cares, throw Beast to Bendis or Ben Percy, I don't care, is what it feels like.

As for WHY he doesn't have that dedicated fanbase, well, I have theories.

A lot of Hank stories are just, sad. They're just so fucking sad and tragic and dark and about finding light where you can.

I often find them very cathartic, like, Hank leads such a troubled and harsh life, and he savours the pleasures where he can get them, and I really love that aspect of his character, that unyielding spirit, but that does not make for a popular character.

His feline era, from 2000 to 2012, is honestly my favourite for him because he is so nuanced and his themes of learning to love your body and control yourself, and his thoughtful, measured, deeply moralistic stories resonate with me and provide me with comfort, the idea that people can be tempted to do bad in the service of good but turn away is beautiful to me.

But that's not really an easily sell? People don't usually want to be sad when they read comic books. They want to be thrilled or horrified or made to laugh. Sad is . . . harder to sell.

Honestly, I also think there's a degree of assuming that he's a snobby asshole because he talks fancy. Like, I legit think that plays into it, and you sometimes see writers fall for the same preconception, they assume that Hank is a snob, and he really isn't, he's a lower-middle class kid from Illinois who grew up on a farm and whose dad was involved in a horrific radiation accident because of poor safety conditions, this is not a person who would be snobby.

It's so funny to me because the guy is from a fictional place in Illinois? It's never specified, which means, if anything, he probably sounds like he's from Chicago! Now, there's probably a degree to which he does speak more formally and has changed his voice, because Hank is extremely protective and conscious of the image he projects, always has been, but snobby? Pfft, nooooo. So yeah, absolutely, you see people assuming that he's a snob because he's smart. Snobby only plays well if you're Emma Frost.

I also have to say, I think there's a degree to which there's an anti-intellectual bias going on. If you look at pretty much all of the major genius characters, they are pretty much ALL unpopular because they are nerds and they are not usually portrayed as being great fighters or tacticians, which is an easy way for a character to become popular - that's why Cyclops is so popular, because he's right all the time and he's a badass, and that's an easy pop. Science solutions are inherently less visceral, harder to write and thus rarer, and do not stick in people's minds.

Moreover, what do you think of when you think of genius superhero? The reputation is of privilege and the image is of boring white guys, they assume it's just - boring. It's only interesting if it's cloaked in sarcastic wit, like House or Sherlock (during The Dark Times), or used in a martial sense, which is why Black Panther is the exception to the 'all the nerds are boring.' Bruce Banner also escapes this trap because he's had his own solo comics for 60 years and he's had a million people write absolutely amazing stories for him.

I also think that his almost complete absence from the Claremont era stories hurts his fandom reputation, because if you're an X-Men fan, you read Claremont, and Hank is not in those stories almost at all. He pops up during the Mesmero arc, during Dark Phoenix, here and there, but he spends 1974 to 1991 in the Avengers, the Defenders, X-Factor, he is so very rarely being written by who most people would consider the definitive X-Men scribe. There's also an element of the stupid X-Men vs. Avengers tribalism working against him thanks to that.

I think Claremont writes a pretty decent Hank when he does turn up, but there's a reason he picked Jean and Scott, and it's interesting that he chose to feature Hank more often than Warren and Bobby, and even then, Warren more than Bobby. I don't know if Hank was really heavily in demand so he just couldn't get him, or if he didn't know what stories to tell with him, but I actually kinda think it was the former, just because Hank always makes an appearance in his post-'91 work, especially his alternate timelines, and he was clearly interested in writing for him in X-Treme X-Men given he set up the Betsy romantic angle early, but then Morrison snatched him up.

Hank also got pushed into the role of the naysayer during the Fraction and Bendis era, which is an instant rock around the neck for your popularity. A lot of the arguments that Hank makes about why he doesn't like what Scott does and how he runs the X-Men and Utopia are not necessarily wrong?

Like, X-Force is just plain morally bad. It is.

You can make the argument that it's necessary, but these two things can exist at the exact same time, which appears to be a concept that people do not grasp! And especially, like . . . the X-Men are not an army. They are a voluntary paramilitary group that is, ostensibly, dedicated to mutant rescue, outreach, and general superheroics.

You are not obliged to stay.

Hank was suffering from legitimate PTSD flashbacks, he was wracked with guilt over the Skrull bioweapon (which, notably, sticks to Hank but does NOT stick to Scott), he was very obviously depressed, recovering from torture - and when he reached out to Bobby to try and explain how he was feeling, draw some comfort, Bobby basically just told him to deal with it!

But this made him SO FUCKING UNPOPULAR. You can go to comics sites that have comments under this issue, under the issue where Hank is having PTSD flashbacks, and they'll be like, THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN, and I'm like???????? The fuck are you saying to me?????? WHY ARE YOU BOOING HIM HE'S RIGHT.

There's also a degree to which I think that, whether the writers have realised it or not, they do not usually put in the work to establish that the X-Men are doing their due diligence to make sure that Hank is okay. They rely a LOT on off-screen things happening to fill in the blanks. A short list of things that we have never seen!

The reaction from the O5 when Hank first turned furry.

The reaction from the Mansion X-Men when Hank turned into a cat.

Anyone going to visit Hank in the infirmary when he was recovering from his fur and claws falling out due to torture.

Anyone expressing concern over the fact that during the whole time travel debacle, Hank was dying and did not tell anyone.

You don't see these moments, and these are fucking important! These make you sympathetic to the character! These are the moments where people look at Beast in pain, suffering because of what's happened to him, going through his emotional arcs, showing strength as he perseveres, THAT is what builds a fanbase and keeps a fanbase engaged with a character - but they just stop happening for Hank. You don't see them. He loses his characterisation moments, they just happen off-panel.

But what do you see? You see a lot of people walk into Hank's lab, they receive words of wisdom and comfort, or a scientific solution for their problems, and then they walk out.

Like, Hank from Avengers vs. X-Men onwards reads as just - psychologically unstable. He does things on impulse, he reacts without talking to people, he does not have strong relationships with anyone, he appears to have broken up with his long time girlfriend (for no specified reason, we still don't know why 9 YEARS LATER), he often appears adrift and lost and unhappy.

And we are TOLD during his intervention that people have talked to him about what's going on, and they were ignored, but, like, I'm sorry, FUCK OFF, SHOW YOUR GODDAMN WORK.

If you want your emotional moments to have any bite, then you need to ESTABLISH things!!! When Ororo says, oh, you're just ignoring everyone, I'm like, FUCKIN' SHOW ME WHEN YOU TALKED TO HIM. Because do you know what I DID see?

I saw Hank being the most comforting and lovely and soft individual in Storm's solo series, being there for her after Logan's death, BASICALLY BECOMING HER SECRETARY BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO FUCK OFF AND BE A THIEF, and then BOOM, suddenly, she's like, you're a fucking loose cannon.

This was, like, a few months apart. Editors? Hello? Does Ororo fucking hate Hank or not? Because Bendis seems to be of the opinion that she does, but Greg Pak does not appear to have gotten the memo! HELLO? EDITORS? There's a big fucking GAP here where a story arc is meant to go???

There's so much of Hank's 2012-onward story that we just AREN'T shown. Like, he and Scott just - patch up their differences over the revolutionary thing OFF-PANEL during Hickman's Avengers. You don't even see the conversation. He agrees to try and work on the M-Pox cure, MOVES TO ATTILAN TO HELP THEM, all because Storm (WHOM, LAST WE SAW, WAS THREATENING TO PUT HIM IN PRISON FOR CRIMES AGAINST NATURE) convinced him to . . . and WE DO NOT SEE THIS CONVERSATION.

Every time someone pulls out the 'oh, this has been an expertly played baton pass of writers depicting Hank's moral downfall,' I just want to fucking pick up shit and fling it in their face, because they could not be more wrong.

Do you know who's read more Beast comics than these fuckers?

Believe me, if there was an actual DEPICTION of ANY of these MASSIVE emotional moments in Hank's life, I would LOVE to talk about them and agree. But they do not exist. It's a character being used as a narrative prop to justify writing decisions that otherwise wouldn't make sense (Inhumans vs. X-Men, All-New X-Men), and no-one cares because he was never that popular to begin with.

And it just - frustrates me, because, like, did you know that Hank formed a political advocacy group for mutant rights?

Did you know he was present during sessions of Congress, giving his support to pro-mutant legislation and becoming long time friends with multiple politicians?

But because it's in New Defenders, because it's in Secret Avengers, and no-one READ those issues, they don't care! It doesn't matter to them! Hank has, by and large, within the narrative, done SO MUCH for mutant rights, he has ACTIVELY worked for them within the system SO HARD, but because it isn't done with an optic blast or a big punchy fist in an X-Men book, it doesn't count.

And like, I just . . . the last few appearances before he starts being focused on in X-Force, before the heel turn, he is NOT acting like an asshole!

Laura literally calls him the nerd she can trust and he takes pictures of her and Gabby being cute during a party!

He's helping Banshee recover from his Apocalypse corruption and teaching at Harvard, trying to actively retire from superhero work because he's exhausted!

He's telling Captain Marvel, hey, you're wrong about your precognition bullshit in Civil War II, and he's helping Spider-Man with science problems, and he SAVES THE INHUMAN CIVILISATION SINGLEHANDEDLY!

So many writers are trying to steer him back onto course. Not just Avengers books, either, X-Men books! There's, like, TWO, THREE writers who want to push evil, asshole Beast, and everyone else is just like, uhhh, nooo? But because the X-office do not care, they keep getting their chance. They don't care about protecting Beast's reputation, or his stories, or his legacy. He's just a character to be thrown wherever he'll fit.

So you get the narrative that he was always evil. He was decaying all along.

No, it's bullshit. It's literally the Scarlet Witch story again, where it just HAPPENS in fits and starts to kick off events and stories, regardless of whether or not it makes sense for past characterisation or continuity.

So, yeah. It's a combination of the X-office not really caring about protecting the image of the character, and certain writers just doing shoddy, shitty jobs of writing emotional checks that their asses weren't willing to cash.

I'll disagree with the anon that nobody is caring. I think what happens is your view of how much traction something gets is based on your personal dash on whatever social media you use and if I was on larrie tumblr and twitter only I'd think the same thing but that's really because there's nothing for us to say. Taylor is honestly unproblematic, there's nothing going on, what's there to talk about. Anon might be too used to holivia which was like watching a car crash so the talk was constant because every day we were like this wasn't on our bingo card... But since leaving larrie twitter, I don't interact with it (I couldn't stand the stupidity of their discourses) but I interact with Harry content so I have a more broad Harry fandom on my dash, and also from tik tok, I can tell you gf harries are eating it up. A huge number of them is watching her films and buying tickets for the play. They're very happy because she's "relatable" for them and proof that they're "his type" (I legit saw a video of a girl saying this). So the engagement is there. I think they're just going lowkey with the paps right now bc holivia was so overpapped that the gp started questioning the legitimacy if it. The fans are doing a good enough job for now.

I do think they’re back to doing things the way they did with Camille, for example. Which we all should be really grateful for. Olivia was so narcissistic and so intent on making herself the main character that it was incredibly obvious that the relationship wasn’t real and Harry came out of that ordeal looking like an idiot. So people who want to believe that Harry actually dates women, and that they could be “his type“, will love the way this one is going. They see this as “low-key“. And if it’s low-key, then it must be real. 🙄 Honestly, I truly don’t care. As long as he isn’t miserable, then they’re both getting their apparently much-needed PR and she’s not getting shoved in our faces. It’ll be over when it’s over, and life goes on.

i don't think hughie will die. given the comic, he's actually one of the few people i would say is actually guaranteed to survive (again, goes back to people forgetting *hughie* is our protagonist, NOT butcher), but he may be the one who ends up killing butcher, def not before billy does a ton of damage to showcase what an irredeemable scumbag he really is (i love him, i really do BUTT JESUS fuckin' CHRIST MAN--)

when it comes to ryan, that's a whole 'nother can o worms, but there's a part of me that honestly feels billy only protected him--not because he actually gives a shit about ryan specifically (let's not forget that moment he was about to beat ryan to death when becca died), but because he actually does care specifically about *keeping his promise to becca* and the leverage that ryan *is* over homelander.

and while i do think it's possible that through that and in his own twisted round about way, he *cares* for ryan in a similar way he cares for hughie (mostly just the connection to becca tho), i also think it's pretty likely there is a part of him that deeply resents ryan *specifically*, i think its SUPER duper fuckin' likely that as soon as billy gets the idea in his head that:

'ryan is a lost cause and can't be saved'?

*and* he's no longer of use to billy?

that poor kid's gonna fall to the 'just another supe freak/only worth somethin' dead' list for billy. :/

So I know we’ve all talked about how badly the ropes around Izzy were tied and how maybe that means the crew never intended to drown him, just scare him a lot little.

And the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that this is the case, largely because this is exactly the kind of mean fuckery that Ed would pull – and what has the crew been doing for the past several weeks except learning how to maintain authority via the expertise of Blackbeard?

Ed has a fairly consistent pattern while spending time on The Revenge:

Oh no, oh dear, the Spanish are going to kill us because Stede hasn’t come up with a plan :(

We can even throw the second part of the lighthouse plan into the mix. Given that no one else overheard the discussion between Ed and Stede, for all they know the, “Oh no, oh shit, we’re all gonna die and if you know how to swim you should totally jump overboard now :(” is just another part of the dramatic production, considering that he comes out mere minutes later with, “lol jk we’re gonna be a lighthouse ;)” Though we know of course that Ed is very capable of dealing out the violence he threatens others with (snail fork) and that many of his stumbles are legitimate mistakes (wrong date, Boss), his captaincy style is very much in the vein of, “Scare the shit out of someone and then swoop in with a brilliant plan or a laugh, depending on what the situation needs, sending the message that you’re the one who’s always in control.” That’s how he impresses others and, by extension, maintains a lot of his authority. I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that everyone took that to heart, especially when we already saw, back in Episode One, that lying about being tougher/scarier/more badass than you actually are is an easy way to get others to listen to you: Just tell everyone you stabbed him, Captain. You did this on purpose!

What’s Izzy’s mutiny then if not a way to scare the shit out of him, looking impressive/dangerous in the process and (hopefully) getting him to treat them better?

I mean sure, everything can be explained away with “The knots are just a safety measure for Con” (even though this is a very detail-oriented show and there’s no actual water on set to be concerned about) and “Of course they all want to legit murder Izzy, he’s the antagonist!” (even though he’s deliberately framed as a sympathetic one and most characters, like Lucius, prefer needling him over actively getting rid of him), but wouldn’t a fuckery make more sense for everyone’s characterizations? I know we joke about them doing a 180 into murder, but the enjoyable humor of that aside, it does test my suspension of disbelief a bit to picture this as a legitimate attempt on Izzy’s life. Because right from the start the crew was looking for excuses to back down when they were plotting Stede’s murder. Because Ivan and Fang both display a certain amount of respect and even care towards Izzy. Because Oluwande just got done saying how much he didn’t want to be Captain. Because in about an episode’s time the crew will honestly and enthusiastically yell that they “talk it through!”

So which seems more likely? That this group of violent, but ultimately not very murder-y individuals decided in a day’s time to drown Izzy, which requires two of his own, fairly loyal crewmen to be on board with this, Oluwande goes from hating the idea of being in charge and being kinda awkward about it to coldly having his “own style” in a single scene, they all ignore Izzy’s screamed promise that he’s open to discussion now despite believing in that philosophy, Lucius is outright grinning whereas in every other violent situation he cowers or looks distinctly uncomfortable...

...or that the crew went, “Izzy’s being an asshole. We should totally pull a fuckery and make him think we’re going to kill him. That’ll make him chill out and we can either deal with a less than perfect captain like we did with Stede, or Oluwande can really take over and Izzy can just, you know, be here.”

An actual drowning attempt seems even more unlikely to me given that they never try to do away with Izzy between Ed’s interruption and the return of the Kraken. He’s still basically in charge! Ed has been hanging out in a blanket fort for days, leaving Izzy to not only command the ship precisely as he was before, but arguably be more of an asshole about it given the additional stress he’s under. If making them work for a few minutes and a threat to Wee John (after he made fun of Izzy, I’d like to add) is enough for a mutiny... shouldn’t swabbing the deck over and over, only for Izzy to spit his drink out on it be pushing them over the edge? I suppose we could theorize that they’re too afraid to kill Izzy with Ed back on board, but it’s not even a consideration. No one is weighing that danger over keeping Izzy around. It’s just a given that he’s here to stay.

So... yeah. Ed’s tendency towards fuckeries as a form of authority/amusement. The badly tied ropes. Fang and Ivan supposedly not giving a shit. Lucius’ chill attitude. Oluwande suddenly embracing his new position like whoa. The lack of murder attempts following this one. The lack of real murder attempts prior. The way they just sorta set Izzy down all careful like when Ed arrives and let him get on with making tea, swabbing the deck later on his say-so and only grumbling a little when he gives them more work. Even when Izzy is full on screaming at them, absolutely deranged post-maiming, making them get rid of all Stede’s stuff in an act of both physical exhaustion (there’s a lot of books here, Boss) and sentimental loss... all they do next is ask when the others will be here for the talent show and continue to poke fun at his name. This group doesn’t act like a crew out to be rid of him. They act like long-suffering siblings whose great joy in life is making Izzy miserable. Basically, there’s a lot that just doesn’t add up for me if I try to read this as a legit murder attempt. 

I believe fully that if they’d gotten him into the water, Izzy would have bobbed back to the surface like a pissed-off cork as everyone laughed.

Either that, or our often inept crew wouldn’t have taken into account how far the anchor might drag him, even with ropes he could untie, and when Izzy fails to re-surface quickly there’s an “OH SHIT DID WE ACTUALLY KILL HIM??” panic that results in someone jumping overboard who doesn’t actually know how to swim and Fang bursting into tears.
