HoloAdvent Debut Reactions
So we're finally getting another HoloEN generation and Lisa and I decided to fuck up our sleep schedule (I mean not that there's gonna be much of a sleep schedule left once BG3 comes out next week) to watch the Debuts live and I'm gonna write down my thoughts about them so lets get to it...
first up Shiori Novella
-this loading screen is somehow comfy and spooky at the same time... weird
-wow... not the voice i was expecting from that model
-"Age: eye-don't-know"... oh god we have another Ina
-well that was... certainly a story...
-i literally never heard of any of these books... but to be fair i only ever read like 15 books if you don't count the ones that i was forced to read in school
-hey, i recognize some of these cartoons... well i recognize blues clues... and I've heard of courage and south park
-so she likes harvest moon huh
-i also don't recognize any of her husbandos, anime or games... am i old or are these just very niche (I'm old... the answer is I'm old)
-eating with scissors... why?
-story-driven games... that's interesting could we finally have another Kiara?
-would you look at that... my phone finally got the notification that her debut stream is starting... thanks YouTube...
-Lisa: "oh god she dresses like me when i was 16"
Me: "well, let's be real you tried that for like a week before you decided it was too much work and went back to wearing sweatpants and t-shirts"
-everything at 9pm CST... sometimes i hate living in Europe...
Koseki Bijou
-so will Shiori do the intros for all of them?
-she already sounds like a gremlin
-okay, cool little animation
-140cm? So we continue the tradition of every hololive member being short...
-dislikes mushrooms... i can relate
-what the fuck is interactive food?
-oh ok she means annoying food...
-man i really have no idea what any of these anime are... then again i haven't watched any anime that hasn't aired on TV here in Germany... and we only really got the absolute most popular ones like one piece, dragon ball and naruto...
-long streams... by what metric? Kiara long or Kaela long?
-oh 3+ hours... that's... just regular hololive numbers
-play as herself... pretty sure holocure will take care of that
-okay I'll admit it... i don't get this joke... are gems one of these things that people want to eat despite them being non-edible like cattails or sea-foam?
-interesting segment...
-those times are not better... why can't we have someone in hololive stream at European times?
So those two were pretty fun now back to sleep and then the other two Debuts tomorrow...
Nerissa Ravencroft
-okay I like her voice
-is it just me or can her model turn around pretty far compared to other vtubers... it almost seems like that already is a 3d model
-175cm... we have a new tallEST Hologirl... we still don't have a TALL Hologirl...
-pepperoni + pineapple pizza... i'm okay with either of those on its own but not both of them together you should never mix savoury, sweet, sour AND spicy (wait I just remembered americans mean salami when they say pepperoni... that's fine)
-doesn't like underwear... artist are gonna have a field day with this...
-doesn't like mushrooms... likes Zelda, Mario, FF7... she's quickly becoming my favourite
-she's also the first one where I know at least two of her favourite anime, Naruto and sailor moon
-i mean who doesn't like binge watching (if I have to wait a week for the next episode I will forget what happened in the last one)
-500.000 subs... well she's already halfway there...
-ah Keffiy-papa should have known
-aaaand there it is... 7 pm CST...
The Twins
-not sure about these overly cute voices
-okay maybe it's the sleep deprivation but i'm having a hard time following what they're talking about
-fuwa likes cute girls... I can relate...
-mococo also likes cute girls... oh and black licorice... again I can relate
-IT'S THE BGM! THE BGM IS TOO LOUD! That's why I can't understand them...
-okay what's a pon-de-ring?
-nice song... but that's all I can really say about that... i'm not really a big music girl
-wait 16:00 GMT... that's... almost a good european time... no wait that's just their morning streams not their main ones... Fuck
Well that was fun. Out of all five girls I think nerissa is my favourite but we'll see how that works out in the future... kinda hard to tell in just 45 minutes... anyway i'll need to get ready for work now so I can't write anything more detailed...
bye

for your baccano s/i what was the hardest thing to deal with since becoming immortal? and for your stardew valley s/i (if you have one!!) what would her loved items be? you got me tempted to get into both of these btw
oh?? thank you for asking!! 💕 you definitely should get into them because they are both a lot of fun!! baccano is super good! it's written by the same author as durarara so it's got the same sort of style (and takes place in the same universe, actually!). and stardew valley is honestly just a really addicting game lol
let's see... for my baccano insert... this might get a little long ahah. i've got a lot of thoughts about her!
Tumblr media
to be honest, hanna is a lot happier since becoming an immortal. if not only for the fact that she no longer has to worry about getting hurt or dying (which is a small fear that she never really thought too much about prior to the train hijacking incident), she also just loves living in the modern age. where other immortals might struggle to adapt to new technology, culture, politics, and social ideologies, hanna absolutely thrives as society develops. she never particularly felt as if she belonged before, but only after experiencing the world for what it is today, with all its new wonders and developments, does she really begin to enjoy life (though, her favorite era would probably have been the late 90s through the early 2010s).
the hardest part for her would be watching the people she's close to age while she stays the same. it's a little cliche, but i really think that realization would impact er the most. she never really had a lot of friends growing up in chicago, and she doesn't remember much of her young life in germany before that, so she'd only really begun to make true, long-lasting friendships on her journey to new york. and while some of those friends — isaac, miria, firo, the gandors — are immortals like her, there are people she's met since arriving in the city (namely @sxturdaysun and claire) — as well as her mother back home — that are not, and will continue to age until they eventually grow old and die. it's not something she likes to imagine, but after 80... 90... 100 years have passed, those people will be gone. she spends as much time as possible with them in order to make sure that they live long, happy lives; but that won't stop the tears from falling when they go.
Tumblr media
and then, not to suddenly switch gears, but to answer your second question—
my stardew valley s/i's loved items would be:
coffee triple shot espresso pink cake strawberry

It’s simply a difference in culture. European teams don’t promote themselves by ridiculing others, they focus on their own team. They also don’t spend nearly as much time thinking about the USA as the USA think they do.
Every team has its own journey. Everyone doesn’t feel the need for constant comparisons to other teams to validate that journey, it has a unique value to those that share it, regardless if the USA won the world cup more times than anyone else. Every team has the right to celebrate their own success, and the US doesn’t need to act like it is a big insult to them that other countries exist and have their own dreams. For some teams, simply making the world cup may be a huge step.
Like US fans get offended by England celebrating winning the Euros, and immediately start yelling and listing their own achievements to say they are better. Ok? But why does that mean England doesn’t have a right to celebrate? They do. They’re simply celebrating their own achievement. They’re not insulting the US team by doing so. And they’re not celebrating by saying how crap other teams are.
Please note that I don’t hate America and I don’t want to insult your many wins. I’m just trying to explain this is a difference in sporting culture of how teams promote themselves and of how teams measure their performance. Most countries don’t have as long a history in women’s football as the US. So England, Spain or Italy, that couldn’t compete with the best teams only 10 years ago, naturally they’re happy about being able to do that now. They’re measuring their success by comparing themselves to their own past results. This has nothing to do with the US, because whether or not you want to understand that, other countries own journey’s don’t revolve around the US team. They’re an opponent like everyone else.
You say european teams don't promote themselves by ridiculing others - which is something I agree with - however, what I don't get is where the idea comes from that the US does. It's true that Fox dropped one singular advertisement for the world cup to hype up their national team - a video including other nations, so yeah that's true. (I'm german myself and I personally found it more funny than insulting or whatever but that might just be me). But that's it. One video. Other than that I have never heard them say anything bad about a different country - quite on the contrary: the team and especially the players keep explaining about how much respect they have for other players/teams and how much they enjoy watching the women's game grow. So, I personally don't think that the US tries to promote themselves by making fun of other nations - they promote themselves by simply promoting themselves - they point out how good they ARE, they don't care about the others. Also, You say that we celebrate by saying how crap other teams are? When have we ever?
Allow me to disagree on another thing though, as someone who's not American and lives in Europe but still follows the team and everything around them closely for years now - it's incredible to see how obsessed some teams/people and especially the media are with the American team. Whatever they do, whatever they say, every single match is being analysed and talked about. Every player is being judged and spoken about. If that's not the case for you - then that's amazing, hey, but it is still the case...
As a german, let me tell you: the hype that was created around the matches against the USWNT was massive. (more than the euros final, if you ask me) For days, all I'd hear about was how we beat "the mighty usa" and how we outplayed the reigning world champions - how that's something we can be so proud of and how that's like the ultimate thing. So while I agree with you - the us is just an opponent - they certainly aren't treated like every other one (at least in Germany).
As for hating on the English - it's not about being mad for winning something or for celebrating it. Because again, you're absolutely right - people should be able to celebrate those things. It's about the fact that we WEREN'T allowed and still aren't to celebrate wins and trophies without either getting called arrogant & obnoxious or show offs. Especially by said English supporters. Now it's just the other way around. Were where you when we were the center of hate for celebrating our wins?
Thanks for your opinion though, I hope this doesn't come across to sharp! I love having civil discussions about those topics so thanks for the insights! 🙏

Oh no that doesn’t sound good hope it all gets sorted out for you and more people start so you don’t have to do as many hours.
😂 5 hours is too far its pain 😢 The car rides are sound tbf bc I’m with girls from the team I hang out with quite a bit so its always a laugh and we do stuff before games (we gonna ignore the fact I got sunburn and a lil heat exhaustion which left me dying in warm ups before one of the games). But brrooo it’s like 5 hours there a 2 ish hour game and then 5 back it’s like 🥲🥲. I couldn’t imagine a 24 hour drive in my country- I could probs drive to Germany or something in that time 😂😂.
Good to hear your ok :) you got this w your work !
I’ve been good just doing hockey, uni work, work and been going the gym recently which has been weirdly fun 😂😂 I got to go watch a NHL game back in April (dunno if I told you) which was v v cool! I wore the best jersey (my GB one bc I was at a rangers game and I was not wearing a rangers jersey (bc I’m a Habs fan) so we settled for a blue jersey)😂 and they won and clinched playoffs that night which was v cool to see. The guys in front of me were being coaches tho -but going against everything my coaches have ever said, they said the players needed to have thier heads down (to receive the puck) and like that’s a big no no (one I need to learn given how much I’ve been hit in the helmet) 😂.
You seen/ played any sports games recently? :)🏒🏒
Yeah I remember my parents being real upset with my midweek games, my team didn’t have enough money for team buses so we all just drove ourselves and we’d have games at 9pm that were 3 hours away so 3 hours there, a 2 hour game, then 3 hours back on a Wednesday night, man it was wild I was like 15
An nhl game is so cool!! I haven’t been to one since….. okay well I don’t actually think I’ve been to one 😅 I used to go to ohl games all the time, that’s great you had fun it sounds like a boss game! And yeah I love those people who act like they know everything and when they speak it’s like man you’re so stupid, it’s like watching soccer with my mom, she always gets upset when they pass it back because “you’re supposed to be going the other way” and I try explaining that they want to keep possession and find openings rather than just forcing passes and she won’t hear it I don’t bother anymore 😂
I haven’t played anything recently, I’ve been busy but my roommates and I were talking about going to one of the parks nearby and playing softball or basketball or something, I saw a pwhpa game in March but that was the last thing I saw live, I went to the aquarium in Toronto though! That was so fun I love the aquarium

being creative on the internet as an outlet is a topic that i am passionate about & i have so much to say.. so i'll put it here.. keep reading if you want to, but its just a history of me and my connection to the internet as a whole, may crosspost this later lol ヾ( ̄▽ ̄) \
ever since i was a little girl, i used the internet to express myself.. dress up games to tumblr, all of it, was used as an outlet. my earliest memory was playing dressup doll games on the computer & watching clips of lucky star in 240p quality while listening to vocaloid in my living room as a small small child, of course, my mom was cooking dinner during all of this, so i can smell dinner when i think of that memory.. germany, 8 pm, shes making banana pudding & tuna sandwiches for me and her while my dad is working.. its such a sweet thing to think of now that i come to think about it..♪(´▽`) way before i discovered the bitterness of the world, the world to me was just schnuffel bunny & vocaloid..
i never had many friends growing up. i had maybe three actual friends IRL, i was severely bullied before going on to become homeschooled from third grade all the way up to highschool, which i went on to do online schooling for that aswell because quite frankly, i was terrified of leaving my house due to my increasing social anxiety along with quarantine happening about ~2 years into my school life. anyways, thats enough backstory, back to my main point.
anywho, i've been expressing myself online for a LONG time as you can tell, i first began uploading my animations and artwork to youtube in 2016..? and i went on to upload my music to soundcloud in 2018. i made a lot of online friends, and even had a partner who i met online which lasted around 4 years. which doesnt sound impressive until i tell you, we began dating in MIDDLE SCHOOL! we dated all the way until.. i was almost 16? lol..
the internet was my refuge and escape from various traumas that had happened to me over the course of the past few years, traumas i was too scared to go to therapy or even open up for, so i'd express my pain on anonymous accounts and abandon them later on. i have countless deviantart accounts that i used purely for vent art and nothing else, that i would later abandon once i realized people could probably tell it was me.
darkness aside, i have many good memories involving uploading my work online aswell, from my various soundcloud aliases to my various artist aliases, one of which would become extremely successful due to my original characters when i was 14, i later abandoned this alias for safety reasons that i won't get into here.. along with all of the fanfiction i read and wrote when i was 12.. so.. much.. fanfiction.. specifically bandom fanfiction, do you all remember bandom?? bandom was a nice time on the internet, we were all just having so much fun on those "___ is ____'s song" and "bandomconfessions" accounts.. no fear of judgement or anything, we could just write stories where we dated our favorite band member and others thought it was the coolest thing to ever grace this planet..
i feel like, without the internet i wouldnt be who i am today, okay, i will admit, i went through some edgy phases to try to fit in with the cishet white kids online since.. being me online was hard! i had to participate in edginess or else run the risk of being called heinous.. heinous things. i was a huge leafyishere fan (now that i think about it.. ew!) and frequented boards of 4chan that i'd never frequent now that i'm older and you know.. have a soul that isnt as dark as the void?
i feel like. . . . if i didnt have the internet at the age i did, i wouldnt had discovered stuff that was lifechanging to me, for example GTBSG was just purely by chance, 10 year old me poking around on soundcloud, youtube, tumblr and twitter, just looking for something, anything new to stimulate my little senses.. and i found it! that group literally and figuratively changed my life in the best sense possible. i feel like i found my calling through their music.
i think that.. no matter how bad and judgemental the internet gets, it'll always be important to me, like yeah, i hate how social media operates nowadays, and all the microtrends that results in so much waste and landfills getting bigger, but if you focus on yourself, delete tiktok, stop doomscrolling, the internet is fun, once you go back to putting in the effort to find new websites, to read peoples personal pages and shrines.. the internet feels a lot more alive again. the internet was taken over by corporations but theres people trying to take it back, even if its a vocal minority, we're still here, and those people who put in the effort mean more to me than they'll ever know.. o(* ̄▽ ̄*)o
i love you internet, even if you suck sometimes.

Seattle, WA, has excellent schools.
Seattle, WA, offers excellent schools to take your kids to. It encompasses 165 public elementary schools and middle high schools. 317 private and 102 high schools in Seattle are recognized on the US News & World Report's Best High Schools ranking. If you’re considering a college education, Seattle is the home to 16 colleges and universities, two of which earned high-ranking places. The public high school statistics show a total student of 143,195 and 6,723 teachers. The students and teacher ratio is 21:1. Since I have kids, it’s my priority to look into the schools in the area when considering moving, and Seattle offers plenty of school options.
Memory Care in Federal Way in WA
Memory Care in Federal Way in Washington is a compassionate, comprehensive, and personalized program. They believe every resident should succeed, contribute, and feel good about themselves. They know that when people are supported, they thrive. I like that GenCare Lifestyle Inc. helps its residents climb their highest peak and feel supported and guided. The Peak Memory Care program is personal; daily attention, care, and support are provided. It engages them, acknowledges their needs, and creates a quality of life to succeed. Finally, kindred spirits nurture each other to find the best they have within themselves. Also, the signature Whole Life Living program puts you in the driver’s seat, and takes your wellness to the next level, with plenty of opportunities to eat better, become more active and engaged, and live with purpose in a community of friends ready to cheer you on.
The Seattle Great Wheel in Washington
The Seattle Great Wheel in Washington is a nice location to enjoy the LED light shows. I love Seattle Great Wheel, covered with more than 500,000 LED lights, and it’s so amazing. The colorful light displays usually run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until 10:00 pm. During midweek, they typically illuminate the ring beam and keep an eye on holidays and game days for special themed light shows that are so fun to watch. They also do custom light shows for special events. For example, if you’re getting married or you want to do a baby gender reveal, the Seattle Great Wheel crews would love to be a part of your event, and they’ll program an array of patterns, colors, and designs.
WWII Pilot celebrates 100th birthday at Seattle’s Museum of Flight
A pilot during World War II celebrated his 100th birthday at the Museum of Flight. He is Dick Nelms, born in February 1923, but he told his friends that he didn’t feel a day older than he was yesterday during his birthday celebration. Dozens of people gathered for the celebration, including a Joint Base Lewis McChord Honor Guard flag ceremony in front of the B-17. It was in 1942 when Nelms was enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces and flew 35 missions in Germany, France, and other Nazi-occupied territories. During this time, he sustained battle damage in 25 of those missions, but according to him, he didn’t do anything extraordinary, and there were thousands of them. I salute him for battle during World War II. Read more.

my connection to the german national team has certainly changed as my attachment to hertha grows stronger BUT the song “moonrise kingdom” by angel haze just brings me back to the sheer devotion i have felt for that team and the weird messy hard times we’ve been though in the last few years. especially “they think they’re saving you/they think they’re saving you.... you gotta run! or they’ll catch us and stop us from growing/you gotta run. hold my love in your heart and keep going” and one of the last lines hits me especially regarding my recent feelings for the team: “I hope you learn to fall in love again”

Hi! Could you make a soul mate to you? Like when you find your soul mate, the countries become human but they are still the representation of their country and when they die they continue to exist but spiritually. How do you react to being the first among all countries to find your soul mate?
*wheeze* I can just imagine Russia going around his bosses office and just knocking things over for all the dumb paperwork they made him do!
Countries reaction to being the first to finding their Soulmate! (Then haunting their country)
Axis:
America:
He was absolutely floored when he found his Soulmate!
The only way (rumor has it) a country can tell they found their Soulmate is when they start to notice their bodies aging!
It started out with his hair going gray, and England pointed it out.
When it dawned on him the person he has been seeing was his soulmate, he immediately ran to them, holding them, and giving them kiss after kiss!
Is happy he gets to grow old with his lover!
Him and England have the world's biggest cry session over it by the way.
Jokes on the rest of the countries Because once Alfred realizes he can still pop on down to earth as America it's game over.
He likes to scare England until he finally catches him!
As for the rest, he really only talks to Japan, China and Russia. Sometimes France but American somehow manages to catch France whenever he's naked.
France:
He's on his knees crying as soon as he sees the faint line of a wrinkle.
It literally takes both England and China to inform him it's not a basic imperfection, and he's found his Soulmate.
Then France has existed the building, not caring if it's a meeting, and finds his S/O to tell them the news.
Both of which breakdown and cry over their new found reasons to live!
He literally quits his country duties just to spend more time with his Sunshine!
But being dead, and getting to ghost around? Oh la la.
Just kidding, now that he's a ghost, more or less, he has his lover for eternity, and doesn't bother going back to earth as much. He likes to take his S/O down to Paris at night, the cold chilly air never reaching them like it use to.
England:
He realizes it rather quickly.
It started with a receding hairline, and then the grays and he knew what was happening, and immediately showed it to his S/O.
Or shall he say Soulmate?
They go out to celebrate, not giving a care in the world to how loud, or drunk, or childish they were.
England has found the one and only.
This was his permanent fairytale.
Being a ghost was also the best Because he can talk to his magical friends like never before!
They feel so much more real now!
He certainly keeps a close eye on American now. And he sometimes tucks him in, and takes his glasses off when he passes out at his desk.
As for his country, he is now a ghostly legend to them.
China:
The words "I'm", "Not", "That" And "Old." Where the only things his S/O could hear from inside the bathroom.
He immediately rushed out and ran into his soulmate, his mind immediately filling in the blanks.
When it dawned on him, he couldn't hold back the tears that feel.
He had a Soulmate, and he didn't have to suffer being a country anymore?
Though, when his time came he was a little upset he was still china, but just a ghost. Was fairly happy he didn't have to be on earth, and only checked in every few years.
He accidentally earned the reputation of the "500 Year red ghost!"
Russia:
He was trying to figure out why his back was hurting so much.
His boss became concerned and forced him to see a doctor.
The fractures from him breaking his back were acting like they didn't fully heal, which was bizarre since they were?
He was sent to rest in bed, and that's when things got... Worse.
A lot of his permanent scaring started opening up, as if they couldn't heal.
The frustration and confusion was the only things he could feel.
His S/O was very good at picking up on this, and immediately went to see him.
Under their care, he was fully healed again, but he was feeling aches he never felt before, and he felt... Weak?
Only when a small joke about him turning into an old, did he realize what was happening.
He froze, staring at his... Soulmate?
He teared up, and if his S/O wasn't there he'd have gotten drunk over it.
The end he was waiting for all these years, was finally coming, and what was better, he was going to be able to see his S/O.
Oh but his fun only just began.
He is now being the most obnoxious person to his Bosses. If he sees anything he feels would harm his beloved country, He'd burn it, hide it, corrupt it.
Anything to help his citizens get ahead of their troubles.
That and he Pretty much becomes a petty cat to anyone who dare lives in his old home. No glassware is safe!
Axis:
Germany:
He was probably one of the few who wasn't ready to die just yet.
At the same time, he was more than excited to have a Soulmate.
This was his fate, and he was more than happy to join them in growing together.
He was also happy to learn that Prussia (after hundreds of years of retirement) was seemingly getting his break as well too! Seems they really were inseparable after all.
Speaking of which, he noticed he was getting older when he hear Prussia mocking him for taking his look. Then the both of them stood there in silence, slowly realizing what was going on.
Gilbert had a break down, ecstatic for his little brother!
He would always be there for his country though, and guided those who needed him, and would also behave like Russia in ways.
If he spotted something he was not a fan of, he'd find a way to change it.
In other words, being a ghost did not stop him from being Germany.
After all he has an eternity to fix what was broken, and make his country stronger, together.
Japan:
When his back really started hurting, he went to get checked out ASAP.
Was diagnosed with arthritis. Not really happy about it either.
This also forced his to start slouching and he immediately knew what was going on.
Despite any pains he ran full force at his S/O.
Hugs, kisses, and maybe a few hours of 'alone time' was necessary.
He could put all his walls down. This was his Soulmate, he didn't have to hide, or feel uncomfortable.
He loved everything about what was happening, and was fully prepared for the afterlife. And made sure his Soulmate was ready as well.
Being dead also had its perks.
No one will ever catch him and his S/O sneakily reading the latest Manga, or watching anime on a stores security monitors at some stores.
He still loves his country, but he has decided they never needed him then, and won't need him now.
But should anything arise to cause any more pain to his nation, his spirit might rival Russia's furry.
Those involved should find the smallest hole to live in for the rest of their lives.
Italy:
He was scared, but excited.
Sad, but overwhelmed with happiness.
He didn't want to leave his friends behind, but seeing his hair turn gray signaled he had found the one and only person who would love him for eternity.
He immediately told his S/O what was happening, and the both of them spent a week or so, talking things out, putting money away for family and Friends, and planning a future.
That was something that caught Italy off guard as well. He has never had to plan a future before.
It was still scary, but exciting! He was ready, no matter what.
When he realized he can go back to earth and still care for his nation, he was overjoyed.
"Just like Papa Rome- wait-"
He literally spent so much time worrying about never seeing his friends again he completely forgot this is a thing countries can do when they die...
And HIS SOULMATE CAN TOO!
He likes pulling small pranks on bullies when the two of them go for walks, not even caring if other people felt them literally go through them.
He takes his Soulmate to all the best places in Italy, and the fact neither of them will ever get tired or bored of each other?
It was the only thing he wanted, but never knew he could have.

This England team has shown us all what the power of sport really means
There have been a few times in recent years where the entire nation has appeared united and optimistic – and almost all of them have been connected to sport.
The World Cup in Italy in 1990, the EURO 96 in England and the London 2012 Olympic Games all come to mind as moments that will endure as epochs that transcend everything else going on in the world.
England has been particularly divided in recent years as the Leave and Remain factions argue; the challenges facing the nation during the COVID-19 pandemic; and the economic struggles that so many have encountered pretty much since the financial collapse a decade ago.
At Calacus, we work with organisations who see the value of sport to positively transform society and the England team has shown that throughout the build-up to EURO 2020 and beyond, they have brought the nation together in a way little else can.
Granted, it helped that England did so well, reaching the final of the tournament. It is hardly a new phenomenon that the squad is so multi-cultural, with players with family heritage from around the world.
While the aftermath of the defeat to Italy has shown the unpalatable side of society, the way in which the England manager and players have conducted themselves has been a masterclass in authentic communications.
STAY TRUE TO YOUR VALUES
Taking the knee has been part of football tradition in England for more than a year now, highlighting inequality and promoting diversity.
The England team have been criticised by many, with the Conservative MP for Ashfield, Lee Anderson, announcing that he would not watch “his beloved England team” while the players took the knee; Home Secretary Priti Patel suggesting that it was nothing more than “gesture politics.” and Prime Minister Boris Johnson refusing to criticise those who booed the team.
Given the racism that the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling and others have suffered, particularly from online trolls, it’s remarkable that politicians sought to condemn them and accuse the team of Marxist tendencies and BLM affiliation rather than a compassionate plea for solidarity and equality over division.
England defender Tyrone Mings said: “Everyone’s entitled to their opinions. The home secretary is one of many, many people who oppose us taking the knee or refuse to defend it . . . we [have tried] to educate and inform the minority who refuse to acknowledge why we take the knee and want to boo it.”
Notably, the boos faded as the EURO 2020 tournament progressed and the team got to the later stages and it speaks volumes that many of those politicians who criticised the team then tried to associate themselves with them through staged photography that fooled no one.
CELEBRATE INCLUSION
This England team are no strangers to speaking up for those who don’t have a voice.
Marcus Rashford has campaigned for an end to child hunger and has twice forced the government to make u-turns over free school meals.
Raheem Sterling, one of the stars of the tournament for England and who has been vilified himself by media and fans alike, has fought hard to call out bigotry in the fight against racism.
EURO 2020 started during Pride month and saw players wear rainbow laces and captains use rainbow armbands, despite some mixed messaging from UEFA.
When England played Germany in the round of 16, captain Harry Kane joined his counterpart Manuel Neuer in wearing a rainbow armband with England's official Twitter account saying: “@HKane will join @DFB_Team 's Manuel Neuer in wearing a rainbow captain’s armband for tomorrow’s game at @wembleystadium to mark the end of Pride month, as the #ThreeLions stand in allyship with LGBTQ+ communities around the world.”
Kane himself explained: “From our point of view, it is a show of solidarity with the German national team from all of us at the England national team to be united in trying to kick out all inequalities there are. We’re on a huge platform on a big stage so it is obviously a great opportunity to do so.”
Jordan Henderson has shown himself to be a captain on and off the field, supporting local charities during lockdown as well as leading his Liverpool team to success over recent years.
He is thought to be one of the main drivers behind the team planning to donate its EURO 2020 prize money to good causes.
Their donation – which could be in the millions – will be made to NHS charities now that the football tournament has concluded.
The team made a statement last May which said: “Following positive discussions with the FA, the England senior men's squad are pleased to confirm that a significant donation from their international match fees will be made to NHS Charities Together via the #PlayersTogether initiative.
“This contribution will be taken from a fund already set aside to support a variety of worthy causes using all match fees collated since September 2018.”
While England supporters still let themselves down by booing national anthems at times during the tournament, it shows the progress that this England team has prompted that Joe White, an England fan who co-chairs Gay Gooners, Arsenal’s LGBT+ supporters group, attended the England v Germany match at Wembley Stadium “in full makeup.”
They wore red lipstick, shimmery eyeshadow and mascara along with a rainbow flag and England flag painted on their face to complete the look.
They tweeted: “This is a really small and personal point but today was my first game at Wembley in full makeup and overtly queer (as opposed to just camp). Absolutely no issues from fans and some lovely chats.
“Despite being absolutely petrified pre game, really proud of our fans”
Henderson responded: “Hi Joe great to hear you enjoyed the game as you should. No one should be afraid to go and support their club or country because football is for everyone no matter what. Thanks for your support, enjoy the rest of the Euros.”
How refreshing that the LGBTQ+ community can now support the national team with no fear of abuse or intimidation and that the Three Lions Pride can display positive banners – understandably celebrating Henderson’s goal against Ukraine.
ENCOURAGE TEAMWORK
England manager Gareth Southgate arguably had one of the most talented England squads in recent memory.
The team’s headquarters at St George’s Park became a centre of fun with photocalls featuring the likes of Bukayo Saka jumping into a pool on a flying unicorn inflatable and Ed Sheeran playing a special concert for the team not to mention a preview showing of Top Gun Maverick and call with its star Tom Cruise.
While early on, there was uproar among fans over players who had been left out of the starting XI or even the squad, with flair giving way to pragmatism, Southgate showed how much the team ethic mattered to him.
After the 4-0 victory over Ukraine, Southgate paid tribute to the members of his squad who had not featured much during the tournament.
He said: “I am thinking about the players who I had to leave out of the 23 because they have been such a massive part of what we’re doing. It is so difficult to keep a group of this size feeling valued and yet those guys have been phenomenal about how they have sacrificed themselves for the group.
"I feel the responsibility keenly. But it is these challenges that make us."
Not once during the tournament did any stories leak of disgruntled players, while the players reflected the afore-mentioned values by resisting well-trodden paths of nationalism that previous encounters with the likes of Germany may have engendered.
In fact, this England team have shown dignity in the face of criticism and the very definition of what it means to be a team – there are no egos, no vested interests.
Where once supporting England meant violence and xenophobia, this England team has inspired a new identity with a commitment to diversity, inclusion and a more tolerant society, which is a credit to them all.
SHOW REAL LEADERSHIP
It was quite telling when, during the celebrations following England’s win over Denmark, former international Gary Neville said: “The standard of the leaders in the past couple of years in this country has been poor but look at that man there... he’s everything a leader should be: respectful, humble, tells the truth, genuine. He’s fantastic, Gareth Southgate.”
Southgate has been humble, engaging, honest and resolute that he knew what he wanted to do and would not waver, even when senior politicians criticised some of the decisions made by him and his management team.
Ahead of the tournament, in an essay on patriotism, titled Dear England, Southgate linked football and national identity and underlined why the game means so much more than just sporting excellence.
“I have a responsibility to the wider community to use my voice, and so do the players. It’s their duty to continue to interact with the public on matters such as equality, inclusivity and racial injustice, while using the power of their voices to help put debates on the table, raise awareness and educate.
“On this island, we have a desire to protect our values and traditions – as we should – but that shouldn’t come at the expense of introspection and progress.”
Southgate has been calm and assured throughout his tenure, ensuring that he and the team are consistent in their focus, messaging and conduct. There have been no scandals, no drama and every press conference or media opportunity has been assured and engaging.
FACE ADVERSITY HEAD-ON
Losing on penalties is part of football, but it’s also something that England have encountered at a number of major tournaments.
The backlash after England’s defeat was brutal, with the three players who missed penalties, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka all targets of racist abuse.
Some MPs also used the defeat as an opportunity to tell players to keep out of politics, such as Andrew Rosindell, who tweeted: “We are all proud of our England team, who have had the support of the whole country over recent weeks, but please focus of football, not politics. If you win for England, you win for everyone!”
Home Secretary Priti Patel expressed her outrage at the racism, prompting Mings to again address her double standards.
He said: “You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.”
Soon after the game, the mural in tribute to Rashford was vandalised, prompting hundreds of positive messages and fans voicing their support for the Manchester United forward.
Rashford tweeted: ““I’ve grown into a sport where I expected to read things written about myself. Whether it be the colour of my skin, where I grew up, or, most recently, how I decide to spend my time off the pitch.
“I dreamt of days like this. The messages I’ve received today have been positively overwhelming and seeing the response in Withington had me on the verge of tears. The communities that always wrapped their arms around me continue to hold me up.
“I’m Marcus Rashford, 23-year-old black man from Withington and Wythenshawe, South Manchester. If I have nothing else I have that. For all the kind messages thank you. I’ll be back stronger. We’ll be back stronger.”
CONCLUSION
The England team have shown without doubt the power of sport to unify – and while EURO 2020 is now over, we have the Olympic Games coming up where athletes will come together in the spirit of competition and camaraderie.
As Southgate put it: “The reality is that the result is just a small part of it. When England play, there’s much more at stake than that.
“It’s about how we conduct ourselves on and off the pitch, how we bring people together, how we inspire and unite, how we create memories that last beyond the 90 minutes. That last beyond the summer. That last forever.”
While the positivity has proved to be a brief moment in time, the England squad showed society how to empathise, respect and engage in a way that has been in short supply for so long.

I don't know... Could you do a post with some of your favorite Fanfictions? (your Hetalia Fanfictions ❤️ I really like to read your work) thank you 😘
This is a bit all over the place and there is a lot of (fem!)England-centric fic, because apparently I’m a messy one-trick pony. =w=;;;
...
Gods AU
First and foremost I want to say some of my favourite hetalia writing has been done for the Gods AU that is/was a shared baby between Hoof, Eden and myself (with a few pieces by some very kind babysitters over the years as well). It’s a heavily engport-centric AU, where Portugal (Lusus) is the God of the Underworld and England (Albion) his somewhat volatile spouse. It’s an ensemble cast and most of the characters are deities of some kind, and is heavy on pretty scenery, stupid families, and tragic love. Also there’s a bunch of fluff and ancient historical/mythological-style smut - in both writing and art. (The art, obviously, is Very Not Mine.)
   Nationverse
No Quarter: A bet tumbles the four of them into bed. (They would've done it even without the bet.)
England/Portugal/F!England/F!Portugal
Historical, Fluff and Smut, Nationverse but if both the regular cast and nyos existed in the same universe
Chapters 1/4, 2,739 words
Ok, this one is a WIP, but the single chapter that there is so far can actually standalone, and contains four idiots being both Incredibly Sexy and Incredibly Stupid. I really like how I handled their dynamics here, and the ebb and flow of control between them.
Small But Golden:  France and England watch a meteor shower together.
France/England - though it can be read as either friendship or romance (or both)
Oneshot, 1,285 words
Honestly, this one just made the list because it’s got one of my favourite stupid endings to a fruk fic I’ve written. These two old farts will bicker about anything, and they’re both so smug whenever they feel like they’re ‘winning’ - it makes it even more fun to write about them cocking up.
For A Muse of Fire: I’m cheating, because this is my F!England Nationverse collection, but all of its works are very dear to me one way or another. Particular favourites for me though are:
Sweet Dear Tempting Mischiefs: Whitehall, England. May, 1672. Two young people, Nations, so in  love they're ridiculous. And, fancy clothes be damned, romantically  having sex up against a tree.
Fem!England/Portugal
Oneshot, 13,851 words
This is my fic where there is a lot of pretty clothing and flirting, and f!England and Portugal are very, very soft and smitten with each other. And also they go horse-riding and then fuck up against a tree.
One of my tags on AO3 for this fic is ‘there’s a war on in the background and you wouldn’t be able to tell’, and that’s about everything you need to know about this fic after the pretty clothes, outdoor sex, and fluff.
Queen of the Golden River:  Hong Kong, Peking, Calcutta, Suez, Paris and London. 1859-1861. It shouldn’t be so difficult to throw a grand Christmas party for everyone, should it, not if you are the glorious empire that rules the world?
Chapter 1 features F!England and France (implied fruk) with a young Hong Kong, in Hong Kong, discussing the Opium Wars and China
Chapter 2 features F!England and Scotland with a young Australia and New Zealand, in Victoria (Australia)
Chapters 2/?, 9,591 words
Another WIP, but I think both of the chapters that already exist stand well as individual timestamp pieces, and I think they’re worth a read for the historical dynamics at the time.
A stupid amount of research went into just these two chapters, and I think they’re great if you like imperialistic conniving, awful romances and seriously dysfunctional families.
Fruits of Immortality: France, England, and apples through the ages.
France/England, also featuring young America and Sealand
Oneshot, 2,800 words
This is just a series of snapshots of England and France through the eons around the theme of ‘apples’ - originally written as a gift for suddenlyapples. XD;;; It’s very soft and sweet, and features young England and France bickering about a dragon that eats shoes. (One of my favourite arguments that I’ve written for those two.)
                AUs
A Star Is Moving Somewhere: Elaine has unexpected leave for the holidays. Julia didn’t expect Elaine to offer to spend it with her.
F!England/F!Prussia, F!Germany, Germany’s dogs (F!England/France and America mentioned)
A human AU featuring: Christmas nonsense but if the background is a futuristic space opera? (F!England is the captain of a spaceship.) Open relationships (the fruk in this are engaged to be married as a power alliance, but F!England is dating/sleeping with F!Prussia, and France is sleeping with America. Everyone knows and consents to this).
Oneshot, 4,195 words
Sob, I just think this is a really good piece of my own writing? Plus the ~sexy moment~ descends into funny chaos, and I personally love wrecking a potential sex scene like that.
The Little Fox and its sequel Kitsune-mochi
A supernatural AU based upon a switch of canon Halloween costumes between Japan and England.
Vampire!Kiku adapts to suddenly becoming a vampire, and befriends baby kitsune!Arthur.
I don’t have a wordcount for these because I’ve not crossposted them to AO3 (yet) but they’re both just short pieces of fluff.
Nothing Can Hurt You Here: a spaport oneshot I wrote as a gift for Trevo and Lunie for their Game of Thrones AU. Lunie has since wiped her stuff, I think, but Trevo’s tag for the AU still exists.
Oneshot, no word count available
IDEK, I just like how I wrote about the scenery and their wordplay. Hedonists.
Wealh: The sharp thegn Coenwulf has just wed an uncanny wife, everyone agrees, a strange, competent but difficult woman. How vexing it is then, to be the foolish slave that loves her.
A human AU set in 7th century Anglo-Saxon England
F!England/F!France with incidental F!England/Netherlands, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Monaco and a few others
Oneshot, 31,006 words according to my notes on this (but I haven’t counted again since then)
Head’s up, this one was written for an event where I was assigned to write a tragedy and it deals with some serious topics such as slavery, but it’s seventh century femslash, I’m still so proud of it? I wanna add more to this story before it ever makes it to AO3, but it’s very far down my priorities, and I am intensely proud of everything there is for it already. (Also I think the NedEng parts are hot. /SHRUG)

Survey #444
“the monster you made is wearing the crown  /  i’ll be the king, and you’ll be the clown”
Do you take off from school, or work for your birthday? Ha, I used to try to talk Mom into letting me stay home from school... It only sometimes worked. Have you ever created ‘open when’ letters for someone? No. That'd be cute for an s/o, though. What is the best thing about being in the relationship you’re in right now or about being single? Not having to fear my partner leaving because of the struggles I'm going through. Not having to worry about not being enough for another person, because I'm not even enough for myself. Do you have a favourite painting? Not by a historical artist, no, but there is a piece by a deviantART artist called "Denialism" (by NukeRooster/Tatchit, if you're interested) that I adore so much I've actually gotten her permission to get it tattooed one day when I can afford a brilliant artist to do it. What are some of the best life hacks you know? /shrug What makes you smile without fail? MARK LAUGHING laj;sdkafjwlk;erj Do you know what you’ll be getting your loved ones for the holidays this winter? No clue. That's still a whiles off. What is your biggest short-term goal (within the next month)? Just lose a decent amount of weight for a month's time. What will your next tattoo be of? It depends on what cash I have available, really. As much as it sucks, I think my next tat is a whiles off because I just have more pressing things to pay for. Has anyone very close to you ever died? Besides pets, the closest human to me that's ever died was Jason's mom. If you were throwing your significant other/best friend a themed party, what would the theme be? Uh, Frieza-related, obviously. Do you feel prepared for the apocalypse? I don't believe in the apocalypse in the biblical sense of it being determined by an ultimate power, so this isn't something I really think about. Whenever humanity ends, it ends. I don't have a say, so I may as well not obsess over it. Do you think you will have children naturally, adopt, or forgo having children altogether? I'm not having kids, but if I did, I know that either I'd have to give birth to them or my hypothetical wife would for me to feel *properly* connected to them as a mother should. Oh, or if my male partner had a kid from a previous relationship, but I'd have to be REALLY in love with him to feel like that child is also my own. Do you take pictures of yourself on a daily basis? Oh god no. Do you believe in angels? No, but rather just spirits. Is there anything in your past that you used to regret, but now you don’t? Hm, maybe? Does your knee hurt? My knees always hurt. Has anyone ever called you sexy? Yes. Do you like raisins? omg nooooo What is your favorite bug? Butterflies! :') Do you like Scrabble? Sure, it's fun for a board game. Do you have a printer? Yes. What is your favorite food? Cheeseburgers or pizza, probably. I know, so American. Have you ever overheard a conversation you weren’t supposed to? Yes. Do you like ants? They are very fascinating when you really think about it, but I still find them incredibly annoying. Did you like the movie Antz? I loved it as a kid. Have you ever drank goat milk? No, I don't believe so. What’s your favorite video game? Silent Hill 2 and Shadow of the Colossus. Do you like cats? I love kitties!!! :') Are goldfish your favorite fish? No. I think my favorite is probably the lionfish. Do you like vanilla pudding? No. I only like chocolate pudding. What is your opinion on gay marriage? I 100% support it and would fight to the death for it. What is your opinion on gay adoption? Don't even fucking look at me if you see a problem with a parentless child finding a home with two people in love. Who was the last person you had a crush on? Sara. What’s the most expensive piece of clothing you own? I have zero clue. Why do you drive the car you have right now? I don't have my own car. Have you ever seen your best friend cry? Omg yes and it sucks. Are you friends with your neighbors? No. What is your current desktop picture? One of my favorite pictures of my late pup, Teddy. What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen out the window of an airplane? Mountains! Does your neighbor have any pets? *shrug* Have you ever swam in a mountain lake? No, but that sounds VIBIN'. Has a cat/dog ever thrown up on your bed? alksdjflk;a;jdfalwe yes Have you ever had a concussion? One or two. Do you know anyone who has a pet gecko? Not currently, I think? I want a fat-tailed gecko, though. :( Would you ever go bear hunting? I wouldn't dare hunt ANY animal. Have you ever seen two movies at the theater in a row? I have not. How many teenagers do you know who have babies? I know no teen personally that has a child, but there were some pregnant students in high school. If you could keep your parents or trade them for other parents, which would you pick? I would NEVER change my parents. Is there a piggy bank in the room you’re in? It's not a "piggy" bank, per se, but my sister got me a skull one that she says is for my tattoo funds. :') How many sets of twins do you know? Two, off the very top of my head. If you have younger siblings, are you very protective of them? Yes. No one fucks with her for as long as I live. If you have older siblings, are they very protective of you? Not especially. Who is your favorite Disney Channel person? Uhhh, maybe Raven Symone? How many pets do you have? Just two. Do you think you will be successful in life? No. :/ What do you have pierced? My earlobes, twice, and my bottom lip. I have been dyinnnnggg for some new ones lately. :/ Does techno annoy you as much as it annoys me? No, I actually enjoy quite a bit of techno. What’s your comfort food? Ice cream. Do you like paranormal stuff? YES. Do you have a favorite stuffed toy? Rebel, my adorable meerkat plush from Jason, and Brownie, my moose from Cabela's. What’s the most exciting project you were given? In a way, my senior project since you got to choose your own topic, but I dreaded the presentation. Do you have a good sense of direction? Not at ALL. What are your favorite colour for a cat? Orange! If you had to live your life carrying a shield, what would its design be? This is gonna sound super, super cheesy, but probably a heart to symbolize how love should and could block the effects of hate and general evil and that we should pursue that instead of violence. Out of all the cancers, which one do you think needs to find a cure first? Oh god, they all do. If I had to pick one though, it'd be one of the inevitably fatal kinds, like pancreatic. What are your general afterthoughts when you’ve finished a book? I feel accomplished for actually reading to a story's completion. How many pairs of glasses (not sunglasses) have you owned? Two, I think? What color is your flash-drive? Hot pink. Have you ever built a sand castle? Yeah. How many houses have you lived in? Six. One I have no memory of. Do you shut off the water while you brush your teeth? Yes. What video game should everybody play at least once? Amnesia: A Machine for PIgs for the symbolism. It blows my mind how most horror fans hate it; it's like they totally miss the point. 100 years from now, what modern things will people look back on and say, “WTF?” Hopefully things like homophobia, racism, misogyny, concepts like those. What is impossible to understand until it happens to you? Mental illness, to name only one thing. What fictional food item from a television show, cartoon, movie, or video game have you always wanted to try? Hm. There's a lot that has looked super good, really. What’s something that gets much more hate than it deserves? Nickelback, lmao. What phrases or sayings drive you crazy? "Everything happens for a reason," "it could be worse/some people have it worse," "it's all part of God's plan," "just think positive"... a lot of stuff. Do you have a deviantART? I do, even though Eclipse made it fucking suck. I only really stay because I cling to the dying hope of being at least somewhat successful on there, and I enjoy keeping tabs on the artwork of the hundreds of people I watch there. Who is your favorite character in your favorite movie? Mufasa, even if he doesn't last long in the movie. :''''''( Have you ever been to Germany? No, but I'd love to! What is your favorite holiday? Christmas. Have you ever been ice skating? No. The blades on the skates scare me. Have you ever taken a karate class? No. Do you have any nieces or nephews? I have a lot, if you include my half-siblings' kids. Do you own an Xbox? Nah, I've always been a PlayStation gal. Would you date someone who’s well-known for cheating? Nope. Would you break up with someone your parents didn’t approve of? No. I'd consider their reasons, but ultimately, it's about me loving the person. Could you be in a relationship without sex? Yeah, sure. It's not ideal, but I mean if the other person is just very opposed, I'm certainly not forcing them. Emotional intimacy is more important to me, anyway. Have you ever been “friendzoned”? Yep. :') Briefly, anyway. Jason tried for my sake, but it was VERY short-lived by no one's fault but my own because all I know how to do is fuck shit up when it comes to him. Which “famous couple” is your favorite? LOOK Mark and Amy are FUCKIN GEMS Have you ever “destroyed” a relationship? Pretty fucking much. Are you the “dominant” or the “submissive” part in a relationship? I'm submissive by nature. Do you think Valentine’s Day is overrated? No, I think it's a cute holiday. Which do you feel is worse of the two to smoke: weed or tobacco? Well, weed has more carcinogens, but at least it has actual health benefits. Who did you last see that you haven’t seen in ages? *shrug* Are you photogenic at all? God no.

Hello, how are you? Okay, well not gonna lie it's my first time requesting anything, so I would like to request a match-up. If possible. :) If I have any mistakes you are more than welcome to correct me or tell me to do it again.
I am 20 years old, female and from Germany. I study medicine, am in the 2nd year. I can speak five languages and am currently learning Icelandic - I don't know why to be all honest- and love to read and draw in my free time. I am also in a MMA club, it's my fourth year now -it's a miracle that I'm still alive, hahaha- and I've played football for seven years. Because of the pandemic we are not allowed to participate in any sports, so I'm rather at home and studying. I also love volleyball, not gonna lie, I've watched HQ because of it. I never played volleyball professionally but I would like to. The adrenaline when I play with some friends is indescribable! To my personality, well I am really "direct", if something doesn't add up in my mind I would not hesitate to tell my opinion. I am a really good listener and give amazing advices, in my 20 years I've been through a lot, my mind is like a 70 year old person's. Due some traumatic experiences, I've developed depression and its best friend anxiety. Even though I have the feeling that I have no friends -which I have but, I don't know how to explain, it's more like you try to keep the friendship up, ya know?- I have depression and anxiety right next to me as my friends, they come and go to check up on me can't deny their effort for that. Damn, I wrote a lot. However, to the last things, I have brown hair and hazel-green eyes. If you want to know anything else -which I don't think- Hahaha.
I wish you a nice day! ❤
hello hello! sorry this is so late, my life is VERY funny, and by funny i mean I’m a piñata, and life is a blindfolded child with their older sibling’s metal baseball bat. But i’m hopefully going back to my semi-sporadic schedule, maybe posting once every week or two, or if i’m feeling extra inspire-y i’ll do more :)
yo anon you’re legitimately one of the coolest people ever from this description alone my smoker lungs could never do sports tf i’m jealous-
anyways, are you ready…. to…..RUMBLLLLLLLEEEEE?!!!
Tumblr media
i match you with…
Tumblr media
HAJIME IWAIZUMI (27) ATHLETIC TRAINER (woooooo!!)
Lucky lucky you!!! (this got very long I got carried away-)
Listen, I can already TELL this one is gonna be a good one
You’re a polyglot? He could listen to you speak all day, he would even try to help you learn another language with flash cards, even if he has no idea, you’re you, it’s important!
He can’t draw, but he sits at the kitchen table with you nevertheless, and has some fancy art paper and materials for you (because you deserve it) and some 8x11 printer paper and a 12 pack of colored pencils he purchased form the local corner store. He often wants to draw you, the warped ms paint-looking drawings are quite charming, and you find yourself keeping them in your bag, or on your desk.
You in turn, give him a portrait you drew over the course of a while to him as a part of a birthday gift, and he brings it wherever his job takes him, pressed neatly in a clipboard or notebook, he sometimes brushes his fingers over the lines drawn by you as if it was strands of your hair
Imagine this real quick: medicine??? Being an athletic trainer??? those studies are kind of similar, so y’all would meet in class hypothetically in the weird idea bank that is my head
Iwa is a complete sucker for interesting features in someone, green eyes? He will melt, and thinks about your eyes and how they light up when you smile, when you look at him he genuinely loses his train of thought and starts to lose his cool and stutter a little bit, oikawa teases him a lot about it, you two are close and
it’s a match made in hell when you two go party together, and you guys have to get Iwa to come pick you guys up (i feel like every writer on here has made a post about this very scenario, its just canon at this point)
When you had your football games, (idk what position you play but i hope you mean the soccer kind of football bc thats what i’m imagining) he’s always at the edge of his seat on the side of the field, if you score a goal/block a goal he stands up and he’s cheering for you, or even better, when you look at him, he has the most supportive look In his eyes, and smiles at you, and shit, the other team knows they can’t stand a chance now.
When you’re doing MMA, he finds that SO HOT PLS-
Forbid if you ever get hurt while doing sports, he will run to your sides where he is watching you and make sure everything is okay, because he can’t have someone else go through that, not on his watch ouch lmao sorry
you two often play sports together in the park or something, maybe a morning run or two to keep yourselves active during the pandemic (can you tell i’ve barely ever even thought about athletics i’m so sorry)
You guys definitely have one of those friend groups where you do shit like climb a mountain or do a bootcamp for fun and post it on social media
The two of you look GOOD in athleticwear together.
strong people are his absolute weakness, both physical and mentally
When he sees you caught up in a rant, even if its about something serious, a part of him smiles, since that passionate energy is what attracted him to you in the first place
when you told oikawa that he looked ugly in the outfit he picked out, Iwa laughed so hard he couldn’t fucking BREATHE for like ten minutes
On a more serious note, when you’re not feeling your best, he stops everything to make you feel better. One call and he could be on the next car ride, bus, train, or flight home, ready to tell you that you are loved and valid. Everyone loves your presence, he reminds you, and if your’e comfortable with it, he invites oikawa and the rest of your friend group for a self-care/movie night, just to show you just how much everyone wants to be around and how they and him will just show up to you, no matter what.
He’s your safe space, and wants to spend every part of his life with the thing that matters most- you.

Eurovision 2021 pre-show ranking #39 - #27
Less than a week until Eurovision 2021 is upon us. The wait has been gruelling but now it is almost here and finally my thirst for more Eurovision will be quenched. Also rushing this out last-minute before the opening ceremony tomorrow.
I’m only taking the official music videos and the national final performances (if those exist) into account so I expect my ranking to be turned upside-down once the live-shows happen as per usual, especially with how insanely strong this year’s entries are. I won’t talk much about last year’s cancelled entries because losing an entire year’s worth of songs still hurts but I thought it would be fun to do a little comparison for each country about which year’s song I prefer, shown in brackets at the end of each entry.
...
39. Uku Suviste - The Lucky One - Estonia 🇪🇪: It’s like Estonia took Sweden’s formula of handsome guy singing inoffensive pop songs, only worse, for the last three years. Come on, Estonia, you can do so much better. "Rändajad" (2009), "Siren" (2010), "Kuula" (2012) and "Goodbye To Yesterday" (2015) are proof for that. (2020/2021)
38. Tusse - Voices - Sweden 🇸🇪: I feel painfully indifferent about this and that saddens me. Sweden tends to send very polished pop entries that work for me more times than not, but geez, I can’t but feel like this song is incredibly bland. There’s no particular emotion it evokes in me, neither through the musical arrangement nor the lyrics. It does have ear worm quality since I sometimes catch myself summing the chorus , albeit dispassionately, so I can see it doing well voting-wise just because people will remember the song and its anthem-like qualities. (2020/2021)
37. Tornike Kipiani - You - Georgia 🇬🇪: I appreciate with all my heart that Georgia keeps sending bold but quality entries that often go against Eurovision trends and every time I am heart-broken that the general public doesn't appreciate them enough for them to reach the final ("Three Minutes to Earth" (2014), "For You" (2018), "Keep on Going" (2019). This year’s entry is equally bold in its simplicity but I fear this time it’s simply a misfit for this show no matter how you look at it. It’s just too relaxed and mundane. It stings a bit since Tornike’s song last year “Take Me As I Am“ was one of my top favorites. Oh man, I still get chills when I listen to that one. The only reason this is higher than Sweden is because it’s kinda wholesome. (2020/2021)
36. RAFAŁ - The Ride - Poland 🇵🇱: It has a peppy beat that I can get behind and I like watching the MV for the dancers. I'm a simple man lol. Choreography is done by Agustin Egurrola, one of the judges on SYTYCD Poland when it was still on, so that’s neat. Maybe I’ll check out the new dance show “Dance Dance Dance” that sorta replaced it. I’m only three seasons behind anyway.  (2020/2021)
35. James Newman - Embers - United Kingdom 🇬🇧: I feel a bit bad because this is one of the greatest efforts the UK has spent on ESC in the last few years, but still, I just... don’t care for it? It somehow feels sterile and that’s just something I can’t party to. I guess it’s a pity the UK decided to actually try seriously competing for once by sending a bop only for all the other countries to bring their A-game this year. (2020/2021)
34. ROXEN - Amnesia - Romania 🇷🇴: I think I like the word combination “self-love amnesia” but that’s one of the very few elements I find interesting about this entry. (2020/2021)
33. TIX - Fallen Angel - Norway 🇳🇴: Super catchy so I can forgive the corny mess of a stage performance that he’ll likely replicate for the actual show. I did expect something better from the guy who co-wrote Ava Max’s “Sweet But Psycho”. (2020/2021)
32. Hooverphonic - The Wrong Place - Belgium 🇧🇪: I guess the Belgish delegation realized that using singers barely old enough to drink to sing the moody songs they’ve been putting out the past few yeaars might not be such a good idea after the disaster in 2019. While I do think that Hooverphonic is experienced enough to avoid the same pitfall I can’t help but think that the song simply goes nowhere and ends up in an uncomfortable swamp. (2020/2021)
31. Senhit - Adrenalina - San Marino 🇸🇲: Speaking of songs that go nowhere... I wish I liked this more since it's obvious how enthusiastic Senhit feels about this show with the myriads of professionally produced ESC covers she made and the amount of artistry she pours in everything. The entry itself is simply too monotone for me. Not feeling the hype about Flo Rida tbh. (2020/2021)
30. Benny Cristo - omaga - Czech Republic 🇨🇿: I think similarly to his song last year it will take the live performance for me to really warm up to it. The “Here’s Johnny Benny” moment in the MV is absolute gold though. (2020/2021)
29. Jendrik - I Don't Feel Hate - Germany 🇩🇪: The chaotic energy is as endearing as it is tiring for me. Let’s hope the German delegation doesn’t regret choosing this over El Diablo which was one of the songs which made the final rounds of the internal selection before it was given to Cyprus. (2020/2021)
28. Fyr & Flamme - Øve Os På Hinanden - Denmark 🇩🇰: I’m digging the retro vibes. Also cute dance moves from the singers.  (2020/2021)
27. Vincent Bueno - Amen - Austria 🇦🇹: The generally positive and uplifting vibes of this song belie the sorrowful lamentation of a broken man to a higher being about what’s been taken from him. That’s the implications I got from this and it would align well with what’s been reportet about his personal life, explaining the sudden shift from the dancey songs Vinecnt is known for to gospel light. (2020/2021)
Oh, and because I feel bad for ranking Uku last, here’s a picture of him running to god knows where.
