imagine: you get your memories back after years of amnesia to find out your whole species is dead and earth doesn’t exist anymore. that the only thing left of your culture is your weird ex and his busted honda civic that barely even works that he stole from the government when he was 13. And he’s been taking members of an alien species for trips in his honda civic and they’re all like “woah it’s so cool” and you get upset because it’s NOT COOL it’s a honda civic, the turn signals don’t even work “wow it can go up hills” yeah OF COURSE IT CAN GO UP HILLS EVERY CAR COULD DO THAT. but they’ve never seen a car before so everything it does is the coolest thing ever. And your ex’s only tool is a fucking screwdriver which is somehow also cool to this dumbass alien species even though it’s a fucking screwdriver so you just look like an idiot screaming about how none of this is even cool it’s actually really shitty but your whole planet is gone so you can’t even prove it but also you’ve had a constant drumming sounding in your head since you were 10 slowly driving you insane. I would become evil too.

it is all chaos and entropy. the thing is that the chaos and entropy make it beautiful and lovely.
yes, it's true that nature and the universe are uncaring and unspecific, and that is terrifying. i have lived through some of the unfairness - i got born like this, with my body caving into itself, with this ironic love of dance when i sometimes can't stand up for longer than 15 minutes. i am a poet with hands that are slowly shutting down - i can't hold a pen some days. recently i found a dead bird on our front porch. she had no visible injuries. she had just died, the way things die sometimes.
it is also true that nature and the universe are uncaring and unspecific, and that is wonderful. the sheer happenstance that makes rain turn into a rainbow. the impossible coincidence of finding your best friend. i have made so many mistakes and i have let myself down and i have harmed other people by accident. nature moves anyway. on the worst day of my life she delivers me an orange juice sunset, as if she is saying try again tomorrow.
how vast and unknowing the universe! how small we are! isn't that lovely. the universe has given us flowers and harp strings and the shape of clouds. how massive our lives are in comparison to a grasshopper. the world so bright, still undiscovered. even after 30 years of being on this earth, i learned about a new type of animal today: the dhole.
chance echoing in my life like a harmony between two people talking. do you think you and i, living in different worlds but connected through the internet - do you think we've ever seen the same butterfly? they migrate thousands of miles. it's possible, right?
how beautiful the ways we fill the vastness of space. i love that when large amounts of people are applauding in a room, they all start clapping at the same time. i love that the ocean reminds us of our mother's heartbeat. i love that out of all the colors, chlorophyll chose green. i love the coincidences. i love the places where science says i don't know, but it just happens.
"the universe doesn't care about you!" oh, i know. that's okay. i care about the universe. i will put my big stupid heart out into it and watch the universe feast on it. it is not painful. it is strange - the more love you pour into the unfeeling world, the more it feels the world loves you in return. i know it's confirmation bias. i think i'm okay if my proof of kindness is just my own body and my own spirit.
i buried the bird from our porch deep in the woods. that same day, an old friend reaches out to me and says i miss you. wherever you go, no matter how bad it gets - you try to do good.

something i really wanna see explored more in TTCC lore overtime is how Cogs. Inc affects the cogs themselves. the individual workers and the company are not one in the same, and i think thats smth that never gets discussed.
while i think the toons are obviously in the right for protecting their lands, i think there are many cases in some of the individual managers where it is clear that this is not a black and white, good and evil issue.
Misty is probably the most obvious case here, being that they dont even have any desire to fight the toons and instead wants to be friends with them. Misty is probably one of the most controversial characters due to this, being that fandom looooves to take morally grey/complex characters and devolve them to either "perfect innocent wittle angel" or "demonic demon from hell", completely erasing the original character's complexities and flaws. the things that makes them..them. the things that make them interesting. and it sucks to watch ppl erase characters like this. (I could do a full analysis on her and probably will but it would be some time i have to refresh myself a bit on her)
That "good vs evil" view that toontown originally built itself on was challenged by TTCC's manager cogs when they were given more depth. and a lot of people who loveee to see things in black and white dont like characters such as misty challenging their point of view. and its saddening.
i personally love to see this built and expanded upon. i LOVE that TTCC focuses on the individual cogs and makes them. well. individuals. rather than focusing on the big bad company as a whole. theres no doubt Cogs Inc is terrible. so imagine how terrible it is for the workers serving said company.
"they applied for the position" yea so like theres a fancy thing called rent. in a world of capitalism like this, cogs need jobs and money to support themselves. (some proof of this being an issue for the cogs is graham freaking out at the end of MOTM when his chances of getting the job are threatened and he says his "life is in jeopardy". NO ONE talks abt this btw.) i think once again this excuse drives from people focusing on the big bad company rather than the individuals. so lets talk about the individuals.
Mary Anna. She applied for the position because she believes toons are the issue, they are the ones polluting the waters and environment, and she has good intentions joining this company and trying to put a stop to them. How he came to this conclusion is unknown, but does Cogs Inc give a shit? No. they care abt hiring employees so they can make money and function as a business. so, knowing mary is wrong, they do nothing to change it and simply use her beliefs to their advantage to keep her hired and doing her job.
You know whats funny? Most of the fandom either flat out ignores him or makes him out to be a complete idiot for thinking toons pollute the environment. Mary may be wrong, but his intentions are proof that cogs are not just. blank slates. And people HATE thinking deeper than just black and white. So they hate cogs like Misty and Mary and put them down for challenging their view.
You could go on and on, case by case. TTCC PURPOSEFULLY builds on these characters so you AVOID that boring black and white view of "toons good, cogs bad". I think the situation is more like "toons good, Cogs Inc. bad".
Companies like this destroy both outsiders and the people within the company. And so far, TTCC has done a good job displaying that. and people choose to ignore it. and it saddens me.

do you think that zote ever gets bullied for having mismatched horns
I guess it would depend on how much symmetry is valued by bugs hDKHSG. which caused me to look things up and find a study that tells me Yes bugs can in fact recognize Symmetry/Asymmetry to some extent if trained to recognize it. So that's neat
ANYWAY your question. I'll go with a Maybe. I'm sure it gets pointed out often enough considering he's one VERY few asymmetrical guys around here. With the only other one coming to mind being Divine due to her mask
But I dunno if it would be as much bullying as it would be "hey why are your horns different sizes? did one break and you couldn't molt a new one properly" and he goes "YES I lost it in a great battle. It was a devastating blow no bug could've seen coming. But I did. Alas. The beast was too quick even for my nimble reflexes. it got a Lucky strike and I earned a heroic scar " or whatever.
i could assume it's commented on to the same extent that like. heterochromia would be commented on. Brain sees asymmetry and goes Woah that's Asymmetry that's Crazy

Me: What about a reverse of that one post I have where instead it’s a Vulcan thinking they’re talking to a robot or an ai or something, but it’s just a Human with a flat voice?
Me: There’s a “problem” and a group of them, Humans, Vulcans, etc go to where they think they’re going to find the source of this ai and instead they find a cute Human and the Vulcan is flustered, this idea has a lot of potential for a cute misunderstanding, I’m gonna rotate it in my brain
My brain, 20 minutes later:
“I have feelings.” They don’t look up from their typing, face looking as emotionless as their words sounded, “For instance, I hate you.”
Silence rings where only seconds ago there was laughter and jokes.
All the non-Vulcans look at each other with stunned faces. After a moment, the leader of them coughs awkwardly and asks, “You- you hate me?”
They finally spare a glance at them, despite their earlier words there still wasn’t anything the rest of them would recognize as emotion, their eyes weren’t even cold, just…blank. Their eyes return to their screen as quickly as they left them.
Everyone thinks maybe they won’t answer the question, but before anyone else breaks the ice, they speak up.
“You came here because I wasn’t “working fast enough” despite working very fast for a Human, because you were expecting a robot.”
“I-“
“You knew that my branch does not use ai or anything like that for security and privacy reasons, yet still decided that there was no possible way that I could be a Human, because I didn’t measure up to your standards of humanity.”
“It was-“
“After making assumptions about me, you then decided there was no reason to treat me with any basic decency in any of our communication, even ignoring my clear statements that I am not an automated voice.”
“You were-“
“Then once you came here and saw that I am indeed a Human, you thought it would be appropriate to make jokes comparing me to androids and Vulcans, still insisting on denying me my humanity. I am a Human. Just because I don’t fit your idea of how a Human should be, does not mean that it’s okay, or appropriate, to compare me to non-Humans. You, and the others who joined you, are terrible people, and I hate you.”
Their voice never raised, never wavered, never betrayed any negative feelings. They just spoke plainly, emphasizing their words where needed to convey what they meant to. Their focus still on typing emails that everyone else knew from experience would be dry in tone, but highly informative.
The group, aside from the leader, look ashamed.
The leader looks embarrassed, but instead of shame, anger starts clouding his features. He looked as though he might stalk towards them, but one glance at the trio of Vulcans on the side who look at him with raised eyebrows stops him in his tracks.
Me: Hey, what the fuck is this direction?
