I saw an op ed in the paper this week about how Colorado's new free breakfast program for kids is bad actually because it's training children to depend on the government. I am still in awe that someone could actually say those words without a hint of irony. No giving food to hungry children because it's their fault if they can't pull themselves up by their bootstraps. What the fuck is wrong with some people?

All of this reminds me why I left the church and Christianity. I took my faith Very Seriously as a child/teen and Jesus said to feed the hungry kids. I had always assumed this was the least controversial take in the world. Of course feeding the hungry is good!

I didn't realize until I was older that most people who proclaim to be Christians don't actually give a damn. I have heard self proclaimed Christians callously say things like homeless kids deserve to die on the street because they were burdening society. It's when I realized that nobody actually takes Christianity seriously, and Christians least of all. They just want to feel morally superior to everyone else at best and at worst con people out of their money.

I still feel so betrayed. I built my whole moral code around this faith, but in the end I was lied to. It feels like the whole world was in on a big joke that I treated seriously.

At least I know better now.

I love the "came back wrong" trope but from the opposite side.

Your memories are hazy and you don't recognize any of these people, but they act like they're close to you? Like they love you? So you try to get your memories back, to act like you belong here, but everybody tries to forget you died. And you can't. It is omnipresent. And just trying to grapple with that fact pushes the people who "love" you away, and they're incapable of understanding, and they're so confused, what's wrong N̶̄̀O̶͛͗T̷̉́ ̷͋͝Y̴̎̌Ȍ̴̈U̸̓R NÄM̴̃͑E̵̾̇? And you just need them to understand, you aren't that person! You aren't! You don't know who that person is! You don't know why any of this is happening, but they're unwilling to bend, they keep insisting you are that person, your memories will come back, everything will be normal again, and you want to scream and cry and claw yourself open to show them you're different. Your existence as a being wholly separate from whoever you "used to be" is a sin unto itself. All you can do is scrabble for life and to them, you're killing whoever they loved to do it.

sometimes I randomly think about the time a girl posted in this girls only Facebook group I’m in telling everyone how she broke up with her boyfriend and he lied saying that he lost the spare key she gave him, only to then break into her apartment when she wasn’t home and steal the cat they’d adopted while they were together, but then he denied having done this and she didn’t really have proof that he took the cat since he wouldn’t let her come into his place and look for it. And then another girl saw this post and knew her ex-boyfriend, and she was like “girl. I used to hook up with your mans back in xxxx and I still have his number. If you want, I’ll hit him up and get him to invite me back to his place and see if your cat’s there.” And the OP was like “bet.”

So this woman hit up homie dog, asked him out for drinks, went home with him, slept with him, and then woke up in the middle of the night and TOOK THE CAT. Like she had only said that she would confirm if the cat was there but then she took it upon herself to steal this woman’s cat back. Like she full on Trojan horsed this man and then hit up homegirl like “I got the goods. Where you wanna meet.” And then the two of them posted a photo of them together with the cat to the group.

And I just think women supporting women is so beautiful.
