SOOOOO many more thoughts than last week ok
how much time has passed since ww's experimentation? i like the idea of him not ageing faster but just ageing to a certain point and continuing from there? or ageing to a certain point then being stuck like that? but bc the time is indeterminate and we dont know how old he was when he was sent off (kinda like the manga) im gnna keep assuming hes an adult and not caring♡ not my problem♡ also of we take the fact rollos whole thing was 20 years ago and the doctor still looked the same in both wolfwoods and rollos flashbacks then??? idk, im not jumping to anything yet, the time is still uncertain just like it was in the manga and honestly? thats fine by me im absolutely smelling an age discourse revival and i will be killing myself im abt to be so brutal with blocking new fans i can tell
nick been smoking that zaza since he was fresh out the womb
livio and nicks relationship. im bawling. they r brothers. im on the floor...
legato giving me mean twink vibes for this version im actually loving it hes such a petty insecure bitch "dont talk about my hair" *breaks nicks spine* LMAO i love him, he made me giggle, i love a petty gay villain whos genuinely a threat
meryl REFUSING to let the investigation go. her boss is like "its getting a little too dangerous for us we better scoot back 2 office" n shes NOT having it, her reckless driving and complete dismissal of whatever rob says, i love u queen
THE BACKSTORY SEQUENCES and wolfwoods hallucinations were animated so beautifully... omg.
not enough of livio yet to get a read on his characterisation but. please be a little similar to the manga at least. please.
lil nick n livio r so cute. they r so little. putting them in the blender.
rob couldve entirely been like "no meryl we need to go back" but the fact he still let her drive and still let her pursue the steamer with his only protests being stern warnings tells me hes a little curious to know what the fuck vashs deal is
wolfwood and vash absolutely fucking screaming at eachother. couples quarrel♡
i am SO excited for BDN next week
seems that the gung ho guns are basically blended with the eye of michael at this point, it did click they havent been calling them the gung ho guns so i assume they just. merged them together. pretty cool, not a bad choice
vash being quite cold toward meryl n rob, his honestly really mean response to wolfwood calling them his buddies stabbed me in the heart a bit, but is that a coping mechanism for him to not get attatched or is it an actual effect of him forcing himself to detatch from people so its easier to leave them. ouu. it hurted me a little. it did. EVEN WOLFWOOD CALLED HIM COLD FOR IT AND HE JUST KILLED A MAN LIKE. YESTERDAY
ok thats all i can think of rn gnna go watch the ep again see u all next week

SSKK Parallels I want to see, please qwq Asagiri, I'm begging you
Ok so I need to cope from not only the angst of the last episodes of the anime, but also the fact Bones onces again robbed us from important SSKK scenes qwq
So, I'm part of the people that believe the vampirism can be reversed and that Akutagawa will live thanks to that.
So, one thing that I really want to see in the future of the manga but know it probably won't happen (but who knows, only Asagiri) is a parallel to this part.
Tumblr media
We know the reasons they failed was because of two things, one they didn't trusted each other so they didn't used the strategy Fukuchi himself said would have been his defeat, and we can't blame them for not trusting each other like that, not with their story and while Akutagawa seemed to trust their efforts and maybe even Atsushi, Atsushi here is the one with the most reasons to not trust Akutagawa and he still did a bit during their final attack, and even then they were not ready for this level of trust, not like their predecessors, SKK despised each other but still trusted each other with their lives on the battle field, they however had years to build up that trust for having to work together on the same organization, I think given SSKK circumstances the fact they managed to last that long and briefly success says a lot of their potential, they simply were not ready for this battle. The second reason was Fukuchi's sword, a powerful weapon neither of them was counting on, paired with Fukuchi himself who is an already hard to beat opponent on his own.
That being said, this is something they both could learn from, both of them have questions and thoughts regarding this, about the fact Akutagawa saved Atsushi so it also allows window for them to learn from each other and themselves in the case they can turn Akutagawa back to normal, and if they do this would open a frame time for them to talk this stuff out, to grown a bit and reach a point when they can trust each other even if it's only for this mission, and I believe that having Ranpo and maybe even Dazai on board, coming up with a plan, even in the middle of the end (given chapter 109's ending qwq) is possible to come up with a plan to secure victory.
So picture this, Akutagawa is reversed from the vampirization and is now back in the game on their side, staying with them as they are the only ones left capable of stopping Fukuchi. The plan is ready and SSKK are tasked to fight Fukuchi again, to deal the final blow to him, just them. They nod determined to not fail this time, but then another character makes the question.
"But... with just the two of them?"
At this both Akutagawa and Atsushi look at each other, they lock eyes in a way that make it seem they are talking through their shared look, and then their eyes gain a determined shine to them, their faces show their conviction, they nod to each other, and maybe even smirk in Akutagawa's case and grin in Atsushi's. Then Atsushi, still grinning, looks at the character who asked and says with conviction and security.
"Do we need more than that?"
And they go to the final battle in this war.
Don't tell me this wouldn't be such a good parallel to have, especially because it would reflect the evolution of their relationship, which I think already started developing when they made their six months deal, their relationship is far from fully developed, they still have a long path ahead (which is why I don't think Akutagawa will truly die even after the vampirism is reversed) but this would mark a point in their character arcs and dynamic with each other, it would be a reference point about how their relationship has grown.
But well, I'm juts a fan, a fan coping with what's happening in both the anime and the manga and who just wants the characters to succeed.
Thank you for reading my rant/wish/delusions

read chapter 236 again and was reminded of why it’s one of my faves hehe i gotta ramble a bit (SPOILERS UNDER CUT watch out!!)
just . (grabs u by the shoulders)……. these two panels in particular. the mean the whole world to me. some of my absolute favorites in the whole series and they made me sob irl when i read 236 for the first time…. i’m just :((( i know a LOT of people hate this chapter but u have to admit akutami’s art is stunning here ……
(also for the record one of the VERY few times where i prefer the official translation to tcb scans… they ate w ”you were magnificent, satoru gojo.” ok)
first of all; the stsg moment of All time <333
Tumblr media
this moment absolutely destroyed me tbh it might be my favorite panel in the whole manga???? just the fact that we got to see suguru again, that we got to hear them speak and be honest with each other for once…. this feels like something out of a fanfic like genuinely. it’s such a heartfelt moment and i’ve never seen anything like it in shounen manga before!!! just… the fact that gojo wanted him to come back even after everything :(( and that he says it out loud. to suguru himself.
what gets me most is suguru’s tears though…. he really did believe that gojo hated him and i think that’s why it guts him. he can be as cruel as he wants but he’ll never receive anything but love from gojo!!! stupid silly idiot!!! you were always so loved by everyone around you!!!! people followed you no matter where you went because you’ve always been haunted by your own sincerity in a world that rewards insincerity!!!! stupid loser idiot. i love you.
also tbh cult leader geto just looks so fucking cute here i’m gonna be sick LOOK AT HIM GRINNING 🥺🥺🥺 we were ROBBED of deranged teacher geto ok can u imagine the chaos….. him pretending to be Normal but when he has to talk to a non-sorcerer he looks like this 🤨 and immediately pulls out the febreze PDHFJS
but w the stsg moment out of the way :33…
Tumblr media
THIS PANELLLL GOODDDD THIS FUCKING PANEL i love sukugo SO much okay. almost as much as stsg. sue me. their dynamic was the highlight of the shinjuku battle for sure and i could talk about this moment for genuine hours because it means so much, it means so much that he calls him satoru gojo instead of the strongest, it means so much that his words make gojo smile, it means so much that this is the most at peace we’ve ever seen sukuna. their bond is very special and no one but them can really understand it….. but i think there’s a kind of Love here. even if it’s twisted.
i think gojo really did succeed in teaching sukuna about love because he’s never going to be entirely alone after this — even if he’s destroyed and comes back millennia later, he’ll remember satoru gojo (if no one else). and that’s so!! so beautiful!!!! this moment is so beautiful!!!! he’s smiling and gojo’s smiling and it’s snowing and i cried so hard i couldn’t speak. it’s so heartwrenchingly gorgeous it makes me feel a little nauseous
anyway i love this chapter and i think abt it constantly ✩ gege gave the stsg / sukugo stans everything they wanted (yes he also sliced gojo in half but if u don’t think he’s coming back u simply have no faith and i’m disappointed in u)

Giorno 2, 3, 9,and 15
Hell yeah, the lil guy himself!
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
I love how the narrator states that Giorno's heart became a righteous one, but whatever that means is incredibly subjective. Sure, I like to think that he tries his best to do good, but we hardly get to really see what his goals really are. Can we trust that he actually wants to ban the drug trade aimed at vulnerable people, or did he say so because he's deduced that he could manipulate Bucciaratti that way? That's something I've seen being debated a lot, especially since the manga didn't have that anime scene where The Gangster is specifically against drug trading with children (therefore implying that Giorno adopted the same belief). He also just has no qualms about killing an enemy before he's met them properly (like Sale), because hey this is the mafia, they're going to kill you if you don't kill them first. Even in the enemy rush that's Stardust Crusaders, most enemies just have to get bonked hard enough to take a nap.
But listen, maybe it's because I'm biased or whatever, but even from a more objective lens, Giorno seems to care deeply even if he can't show it. I keep thinking specifically about the part where he talks to Bucciaratti in the car to Rome, and how distraught he seems. You can argue that his pride was hurt because GE failed and he was about to lose a strong ally, and I mean maybe that's part of it. But it's during the solitary and quiet moments that we see Giorno as himself a little bit more, and coincidentally those are my favourite canon moments of him.
He also just let cats walk all over him at the docks and doesn't bother to do anything about it. So there's that.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
We could've gotten a cool 1 v 1 battle between pre-GER Giorno and Daivolo, BUT WE DIDN'T and I'm so sad about it. His dad got to destroy half of Cairo with Jotaro, this just isn't fair. I want to see what a life-bringer vs time-skip fight looks like. Maybe Giorno's doing that to distract Diavolo while everyone else was chasing after Chariot Requiem, you know?
What if Diavolo thinks he can stand-rush Giorno's vine shield during the time skip, but when time resumed he gets pummeled via attack reflection.
What if Giorno distracted Diavolo with a giant tree growing, which Diavolo dodges via time skip, only to get skunk-sprayed in the face.
What if he slips on a banana that turns into a gun.
We were robbed of self-proclaimed time lord mafia boss getting decked by a 15-year-old flower boy in the most looney tune ways possible.
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
Eh......... I feel like that's more up to him. I'd probably be nervous because I don't like to bother people in general, but I think we'd mostly likely keep to ourselves most of the time anyway. Maybe share infodumps sometimes, I don't know.
It might just be a security concern if I keep bumping into enemy stand users and gang members though.
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
I don't have one, to be honest. I like the symbolic duality that he and Fugo has, but I've never felt super strongly about Giorno being attracted to anyone romantically.
I do think he has very deep bonds with his friends though. I just like the idea of him trying to maintain relationships with what's left of the team. It would be hard because of power imbalances, the journey's aftermath, and the consequences of Giorno's actions. Maybe he grows up never being close to anyone, platonically or otherwise. But there's still the possibility that, after years of ostracization and neglect, maybe he'll finally have a family.

!!!!! i would LOVE to talk abt fma but idk a good question to ask hmmm..... uhm! tell me abt a favourite detail of yours or smth u think not enough ppl appreciate!!!! can be from 2003 or fmab :] but jsyk so far ive only seen fmab (i do plan on watching fma 2003 in the future tho!!! ^_^)
OUUGHGHH OK! :0 i'll probably avoid talking about 03 beyond the tiny filler stuff then for spoilers' sake.. here's macchi's random deets they enjoy about fma (mangahood edition):
an fma japan-equivalent is mentioned in the manga, as amestris is certain countries from europe, drachma is from russia, and xing is from china! it's mentioned as a tiny island that made a form of chess i think in one of the chapters grumman and roy play it together? too lazy to go get the chapter though someone please tell me if you know where this is
ed isn't the only one who visibly ages in brotherhood! he does it in the manga too but it's more noticeable in the anime (and he does it in 03 as well). winry gets more square and ling gets Fucking Ripped™️, and we even see al get even MORE broadened out but i'm not sure if that's age or filling out after being malnourished after so long. either way he inherited hohenheim's chad jawline in the end.
dublith was a town with a bunch of running factories from when ed and al trained at the curtises', but we see that when they're older they've shut down (again mostly manga only)
automail only prospers as a result of the wars in amestris (again mentioned in the manga a few times), and probably heavily dies out after its government is reformed
ed and al seemingly knowing everyone in resembool! (this is specifically about the parts where ed greets the resembool train conductor in the manga and talks to a bunch of people in resembool in i Think every canon? might be only 03 though)? also in 2003 where winry begins talking about how they played with other resembool kids to al i just like knowing that the teens used to be normal
xingese being in square, rectangular bubbles instead of more circular or angled ones per-manga (+ there being 50 clans but only 43 living children in xing)
ROY ACTUALLY FUCKING UP REALLY BAD DURING THE MARIA ROSS INCIDENT NOT KNOWING ED WOULD SHOW UP AND DECKING HIM IN THE FACE OUT OF PURE PANIC AND CONFUSION LMAO
ed in the manga counting how many limbs he would have to lose to bring al's body back after realizing he's likely starving in the gate
(once again, manga only) izumi saying that ed can likely beat the truth and talking about the irony of the cost of their human transmutations before father mansplained it! i love me some foreshadowing!
ed putting things in his mouth and just letting them stay there for some reason (e.g. toothpick in rush valley, fork in manga, etc.) also just spacing out entirely when he focuses to the point he can't even hear others or keep track of time! mostly manga only though.. again. why were we so robbed :-(
03's depiction of liore being more accurate geographically (being smack dab in the desert that goes off into xing like ishval, given they're in the same sector and entirely parallel from each other on the map)
ED AND ELICIA'S B-DAY BEING THE SAME DAY IN 03... 😭😭 I LOVE THAT EPISODE SO MUCH.......

You know, I don't know which part is more annoying when it comes to ships, if those who defend the canon or those who defend the fanon and then allege queerbating or that they were robbed, the first one are annoying because they don't stop harassing those who enjoy the fanon but the latter tend to lock themselves in a bubble where they believe that it's really the author's fault and that he guides them along a path to repent not give them anything later, examples of this we have zutara, narusaku, etc (within the typical "we were stolen") and within queerbating there are examples but many times that word is so worn out because the fandom's own imagination believes that couples will happen that never even had a chance, some will say that sns is queerbating but for me not because I would never have been hope that the ship became canon and at most one could expect an open ending without ships (which wasn't possible because they still wanted to exploit the story with the new generation), this also happens in the fandom of bnha, black clover, Kimetsu no yaiba (here I don't know who is more desperate if the lgbt or the dudebros with their canon ships without real development), even jjk with itadori and fushiguro. It's like each party creates a version, they believe it's the absolute truth and then they complain when it doesn't turn out as they expect and they criticize the author.
i actually think narusasu is the opposite of queerbaiting. there’s a huge difference between giving meaningless hints to instigate the audience and develop a relationship while not being allowed to give it the real name to it due to homophobia. queerbaiting is a marketing resource, naruto and sasuke’s relationship isn’t used to sell the story… actually a lot of dudebros, which are the main audience of naruto, hate and complain about the gayness. the name itself indicates that it’s used as bait, as a hint… naruto and sasuke’s relationship is the most developed in the series, they don’t have mere moments that are used as shipping bait… you know which pairings have? ss/nh/nrsk, and they are all one sided still. that moment during war in which sasuke doesn’t let sakura fall is a shipping bait, especially when you consider that kishimoto already knew about boruto and yet made no effort to give important moments or develop ss (actually he made sasuke say he had no reasons to love sakura a few chapters later, which is negative development). naruto holding hinata’s hand is a shipping bait, kishimoto said neji died as a cupid, but it’s impressive how the moment is still not romantic from naruto’s side and naruto still ignores hinata until the end of the manga lol, it’s a shipping bait because kishimoto knew he had to pair naruto and hinata together for the sake of boruto. same about naruto telling minato that sakura was his girlfriend during war, but when he’s really talking about important things in their farewell, he changes the subject. can’t even say that sk has shipping baits because no one cares about that pairing lol i don’t even think sasuke saving her could count as shipping bait when it’s so clear that there isn’t anything emotional about it. but all those pairings consist of those moments that make the shippers go crazy, yet they have no meaningful interactions or development. i made this joke a while ago but i wouldn’t say that’s far from the truth lol.
again, those shippers that claim they were robbed just got too instigated by the shipping baits, but there isn’t really good development. would say zk has some development, since they were enemies in the beginning and all, but it’s really not like the shippers claim as well, that zuko truly understands katara and that it would be a better choice because [reads smudged writing] aang is an abuser and just like ozai… (what fr). idk about black clover and i know little about kny but i don’t think the others you’ve mentioned have queerbaiting either, they just have developed male friendships that shippers that have at least one mlm pairing for every media they interact with go crazy over it.

I just binged the whole manga and the anime of onk after I saw a clip of Akane. She is my fav character and I love reading your takes. Like this manga is so nuaced like it's tiny small details you need to look at. Did aqua like Kana? It isn't clear non of his feelings are clear for anbody. It is clear he cares for them, he cares for a lot of people but when it comes to who he loves romantically nothing is clear because most of his actions steem from guilt. At first not letting Ruby be an idol was so he could protect her because he felt guilty about Ai, distancing himself from Kana also steemed from his guilt of not protecting Ai. Because he made Kana an idol and if he got closer to her the same thing could happend to her as it happened to Ai. It's his guilt of not protecting Ai that made him not want to repeat the situation again. This is harder to apply to Akane because while she is in the entertainment industry she doesn't share the traits of the idol life and she is ultimatley the only one tigwther with the director that sees how guilty he feels which adds layers to their relationship. I kinda feel robbed we actually didn't get to see much of them together, they were together for almost a year after all. But back on track it's clear he cares a lit about Akane by breaking up with her to protect her which parallels how he didn't want to hurt Kana either. But spoilers for the latest manga chapters, Akane has declared she is going to stop him and it seems like the feeling he had for Kana really became more platonic or even less. Because while he always was about protecting her he now ropes her in and puts her in center of the danger while trying to push Akane out. It's so hard to figure put what he is thinking but it used to be clear he cared a lit about both of them and now he's gone of the rails and it will be interesting to see if anyone can bring him back. I am worried about Akane as she had been given the white flowers and, I do think ruby will get the role as Ai, if by chance Akane actually gets it would be terryfying to see aqua and akane mirror the love between ai and Hikaru. Even if we don't know much about ai and hikarus love story I feel like it parallels Aqua and Akane in many ways minus the urge to kill part. Sorry this got long but I just really love your takes about Aqua and Akane and needed someone to talk to about the show and quite frankly I just need more Akane and hopefully I'll get that in the upcoming arc as she declared war but also I'm terrified of her actually getting hurt now that the other actress got killed.
I just binged the whole manga and the anime of onk after I saw a clip of Akane.
I love how we're all in the same boat! Akane is just too powerful 😂
because most of his actions steem from guilt.
Tumblr media
Aqua's guilt and how it feeds his self-destructive behavior is something I've been meaning to talk about in the context of his relationship with Akane, because there are so many moments when Aqua completely overplays the ways in which he has "used" Akane, and it's all because guilt is such a big part of him that I'm not even sure if he's capable of having a single thought that doesn't end up relating to it lol
I kinda feel robbed we actually didn't get to see much of them together, they were together for almost a year after all.
Me too. Honestly, that sucked, specially because the two or three times we got to see them were fantastic. The way he off-screened their time together actually made me think of his previous manga and how he handled the dates between Tsubame and Ishigami, which doesn't help matters any 😩
Because while he always was about protecting her he now ropes her in and puts her in center of the danger
Honestly, Aqua is such a liar that I wouldn't be surprised if he's just gaslighting himself into thinking that he's okay with using her. I'll believe it when we actually see him have an use for her lol
while trying to push Akane out.
This though is fantastic development and the biggest testament as to how much Aqua has grown to care for Akane. It's so funny how he couldn't help himself so he ended up going to see her anyway 😭 he's such a clown.
I am worried about Akane as she had been given the white flowers
I don't know why, but I'm confident Akane is safe. I feel that if Aka were intending to kill her or put her out of commission, the chapter were she got pushed down those stairs was the perfect time to do so. It had Aqua having a monologue about how much he wants to be with Akane, Akane having a heroic moment, etc. It would have been the perfect lead-in to Aqua losing himself in his revenge too, in fact it would've been better than what we got.
But instead of that, Aka just had Aqua break up with Akane to achieve the same result. So I'm not really worried about her for now. Even less so because it'd be very anti climatic for Akane to be set-up as the L to Aqua's Light only to die right after.
Sorry this got long but I just really love your takes about Aqua and Akane and needed someone to talk to about the show
Nothing to apologize for anon, I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and I get you completely! I'm having tons of fun talking about the show with fellow Akane fans like you.
and quite frankly I just need more Akane
Truer words have never been spoken. GIVE US AN AKANE CHAPTER AKA 😭

Welp was not expecting you to answer but I'm glad it had the desired effect XD
Anyway, ahem, hey *awkwardly waves* How are you doing? Hope you're having a good day. Thank you for the chapter for Player's Aid, it was absolutely lovely from beginning to finish, the talk between Hyrule and Wild (which makes me want to give both of the boys a squeeze, you guys deserve it and I only won't go in depth in it because I would end up writing an essay but just know that Player will give you glomps and I'll give mine through them in spirit as well as headpats-) as well as the addressing of forgotten memories which is heart wrenching, Wind kicking Player made me cackle, the cheeky chaotic runt, Player practically jumping up and down like an overexcited Chihuahua on sugar high when facing a slab of cooked meat over being in Hyrule and going towards Hyrule Castle is also great, the talk with Time and Player just about ended me and brought me back to life in one go and THEN stack in Player missing home through the messages on their phone? It's, it's just pure gold, how dare you be so good lovely individual? Now I'm legally obligated to channel Wild and shoot appreciation arrows at you *loads bow with adoration intent* THANK YOU FOR THE BLESSINGS UPON THE FANDOM!
On another note, The Ballad of the Wind Fish by Zelda Universe is arguably the best rendition of it for me (also yes, any version of Link's Awakening will be painful, beware, the saddest part is the images we were robbed off from the DX version, they were amazing and we lost quite a few of the art, but the rest of the new version is amazing, prepare tissues once you get attached), they also do great dubs of almost every single Legend of Zelda game and they're pretty good, worth checking out if you have the time and want a recap on the plot. And yeah I can definitely see the Chain being wary if an argument breaks out but that definitely won't stop Player from humming it again if it's unconscious, so obviously the only option is either for A: Legend to deal with it because I feel like Player could also be capable of knowing songs from other heroes journeys or related to them and just, unconsciously hum something like the Song of Storms so he eventually has to get used to it and maybe it helps a bit with his trauma, knowing Koholint and it's inhabitants were not only real to him and are remembered by someone other than him, or someone just bonks the two over the head when it looks like it will start getting heated again.
Legend and Player accidentally kissing is even funnier if there's witnesses, because they would point blank deny anything ever happened with the straightest faces ever even if Wild or Wind brings up photographic evidence, they not only never talk about it, but they also actively discourage anyone from even remembering it even happened and it's one of the few times they agree with each other and it's the funniest to me, almost as funny as the Chain being in disbelief Time has game. Also Sky would definitely deserve that first kiss too, you're absolutely right on that one and it delights me to the core almost as much as Time getting it first does, he's a sweetie and a very kind person so he honestly deserves the smooches, even if at the cost of a civil war with the Chain. Oh, if you'd like to play Hyrule's game, why not try an emulator? If you find the right one for your phone there should be lots of ROM sites you can download it from, it's how I'm playing Minish Cap (and almost finished, I apologize in advance to Four because if I was his Player I'd probably get him lost a lot or into chaotic situations), downloaded it from Romsgames.com and am now playing it, maybe give it a shot?
On an even more unrelated note, if you consider manga events canon, au where everything is the same but Player has a tiny Volvagia as a familiar. In the Manga Time befriends a young Volvagia after he rescues them from a cage in Castle Towns market, and they're very close until the time skip, the dragon even learning how to say his name in different tones to show they're happy and care, because Ganon cursed Volvagia, and since Link was asleep and couldn't do anything about it basically made Volvagia feel like Time just abandoned them out of nowhere and then shows up years later with something that can murder them, though they forgive him upon death by saying his name one last time. He really cared for them too since he could see their spirit calling to him later in the manga so while it's probably not Navi or Epona levels, it's probably pretty close. Which brings two scenarios up: either Time has a big dragon friend/pet hanging around somewhere on Lon Lon Ranch, who I feel Player would immediately become enamored by and they with her (Wolfie whomst? He's still best boy and Epona is best girl but ya can't exactly beat a dragon, or it's a Satori scenario); Or, for comedic purposes, when they get throw into Time's era and wind up in Castle Town, turns out that in his urgency to warn Lullaby and in his grief towards Navi he accidentally forgot to come back for Volvagia whom he hasn't met yet, which leads to the possibility of Player being the one to find them, befriend and help them, setting them outside of Castle Town only for them to sneak into their cloak, Player finding them later on and then just deciding to keep them, because they're small still and basically curl up around their neck like a little scarf! They're a friendly and nice danger noodle/nope rope if they don't want to leave then far be it from them to kick them out.
I feel like there would be much chaos from the Chain in general, specially if Time is just exasperated but chill, "Ah, so that was what I was forgetting. Carry on, they're fine." Which spawns even more chaos, Hyrule and Wild and Wind have another ally in the Defense Squad but at the cost of Time getting second favorite person rights which will probably endear him to Player quicker, or everyone will just get hilariously jealous that even a dragon gets more attention than them nowadays. Legend will never know peace again as a bonus.
I'm just saying, if Player won't get gun rights and the Chain won't let them have sword/knife rights, then they should at least get dragon familiar who will grown to be massive and will probably be ridden around like that one scene in Spirited Away eventually, as a treat.
And that's all for now since I'm tired and sleep deprived, have a nice day and apologies if this is a long ask! Didn't mean to trouble you!
OF COURSE I WOULDN'T IGNORE YOU!
Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter!! Makes me happy when people do!
Won't lie, I'm a little nervous about downloading from sites (gotta be careful with stuff nowadays, ya know??) but I'll have a look at it! Especially if it means I can play the other games!
The song was also beautiful and I think I will check out those dubs! I'm a slut for game dubs and just seeing my fav games get a little light into it!
ANOTHER POINT! I do kinda pick and choose when it comes to the manga- I know probably not the best, either stay consistent or leave it alone but I will probably make some stuff from the manga canon! Just because I can't exactly get to all the games, but I'll try!
I remember Volvagia! I got confused though about that story point (I think it's because I phased out while reading which is a bit of a bad habit, as you can probably tell) but thank you for bringing this to light! Because I think I may have to put some mention of it in the future~

I noticed your NSFW headcannon for the kiryuu twins and I would just like to add: Ichiru has a mommy kink, and Zero has a Daddy kink. (Ichiru would definitely call his partner mommy and Zero would go feral when his partner calls him daddy) anyways cheers to the Kiryuu twin supremacy (the fandom easily dismissed Ichiru and fail to see him as an actual intresting character even though he was apart of the best arcs in the Manga/anime)
I can see them having such kinks. But absolutely, Ichiru was such an interesting character and I hate how we were robbed. Just that one bonus page where Ichiru crossdresses to make fun of Zero alone makes me angry about his death and even angrier at his 2nd death as a clone in Memories. It showcases how much Zero still loves Ichiru deep down, just like when he doesn't shakes him off in that other bonus scene where they both enter the room in the same pose but mirrored. He wants Ichiru to stay a part of his life but doesn't knows how to say it, which again makes me furious at his 2nd death because WHY?! Why introduce him and kill him off in one chapter?! IDC about cloning Yuki so Yume can be endgame in Memories- screw that ship, I want to see Ichiru's clone. How can Zero be not completely traumatized after killing Ichiru once more?! HOW?! Ichiru's character himself also had so much things to offer, he showed a different side to Zero with their dynamic, he was one of the few characters with braincells like when he pointed out to Yuki how stupid she was and how Zero must always be constantly worried about her because of it. Most of the other characters might say it behind her back, but few have the guts to confront her about her stupidity. He has a lot of nerve in general and I like that! God I wanted to see Ichiru embarass his big brother some more. Just like Shizuka's playful side, this dude has a mischievous side and I kind of hate how the playful characters either are killed by the time Yuki becomes a pureblood or they change to be more serious like Yuki herself. The politics really suck some of the series humor away when there could easily have been a scene of Takuma goofing off with Senri when he's under Sara's influence. Like Takuma joking about their favorite rakugo performances as Senri tries to control himself after he consumned Sara's tablets and he's trying to distract Senri from growing wacky under its influence. Anyways, Ichiru and Maria are such relatable characters to me having been born chronically sick myself. The over-exerting yourself because you want to have fun with everyone else, for one, is something I definitely understand. Sometimes it feels like it eats away at your ability to be young and just be a kid because you're already worried about such grown up topics like your health at a tender age. The tiny ways that reality just stabs you like the time I overheard two girls wondering where the local hospital is because one had an appointment there. I was 20, they were in their mid-teens. At the time I only lived in my current city for 6 years, yet I already had multiple appointments at the hospital and could easily find it on my own, and these girls who didn't look like sisters couldn't possibly both have been living in the town for less years then I had yet they were clueless about its location. Or that time were I figurated in a production teaser, and I was chatting with two other girls who were figurants and they were only like two years younger then me. One girl talked about food multiple times and I'd make the occasional remark. When she praised bounty bars and said they were healthy to me and the other girl, I nodded in agreement saying, "Yeah the coconut is really good for your digestion system." And she looked at me saying, "You really know a lot about food don't you?" It wasn't asked in a rude way at all or something, just a statement she was impressed but I felt so awkward on the inside because I know all these things due to having GERD and now also having developped IBS as a result of living over 20 years with a stomach condition. There's just something so alienating about being born chronically sick, even more so then being neurodivergent because at least I could attend special needs school and be amongst other neurodivergent kids.

My Take on the Aot Special
OK, now that I’m a bit more calm, let me start by saying
Thank you Crunchyroll for ruining the AoT special for me.
As everyone knows by now, Crunchyroll did not air the special at the announced time, and there was nothing but radio silence from them all day until it simply appeared in the menu.
In an ideal situation, I would have gone to bed and watch it calmly the next day, but this wasn’t an option since we had a trip booked on Saturday and I knew I wouldn’t have another chance at watching it till Sunday evening. And I clearly couldn’t wait that much.
So when the special was finally available, at around 00:15h in my corner of the world, I was not only tired af from being up since 6:30 in the morning, but also dragged 8 hours of sheer fury at the blatant disregard of Crunchyroll towards the series and disrespect to the viewers.
Therefore I was not invested, I was more in a “let’s get it over with” mood so I wouln’t have to avoid spoilers for the rest of the weekend.
Therefore the following opinions are likely tainted by the fact I was robbed me of all the feelings I was expecting to get from my blorbos.
::spoilers ahead::
- I appreciated the extended version of Eren’s conflict at “having to” enact the Rumbling. I felt it highlighted whatever little humanity he’s got left in him and helped illustrate his final descent into madness.
- However, it would have been nice to have Ramzi and his brother dubbed by someone with an accent. In the manga, their dialogue is represented either in squiggles (when they’re talking between them) or (in othe original version) in katakana when the reader needs to know what they’re saying, thus representing the fact they are not speaking the same as the locals.
- The ship trip and plane preparation felt a bit rushed to me. Yes, they are in a rush in-universe, but there is a difference between conveying a sense of urgency and rushing the narrative. I felt it was like, Oh, hi, Armin likes Annie everyone in Liberio is dead Levi you shouldn’t get up yet you know what Yelena you’re right honey omg Annie fancies Armin wtf Floch is alive now he’s not two fingers is enough.
- Also in this part, I had the feeling some VA were rather off (Falco, WTF? Annie sounded odd too)..
- Yes Heichou, two fingers is enough ::nudge nugde wink wink::
- Watching Floch die was both so satisfying but also kinda scary how he clings to the yaegerist discourse till the very end. That’s fanatism for you. Awesome scene.
- The Hange farewell deserved more love. Again, we see the difference between the characters’ need to hurry vs the storytelling not devoting enough time to such an emotionally charged moment. This is especially blatant in anime, which has a long, tried and true tradition (also in this show) to dilate a single moment in time into a long scene for punch. Would it have killed them to make a longer shot of their pained expressions, of Hange’s nervous laugh, of Levi’s hands both in Hange’s chest and later on the plane?
- Hange’s death scene was great, which makes me more salty about the above paragraph.
- tbh though I fully blame Crunchyroll for my lack of reaction to the levihan scene. Fuck Crunchyroll.
- Overall, the CGI was pretty shitty, IMHO. Some scenes (e.g. Annie and Kiyomi on the deck) seemed out of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
- The scenes in Paths, though, really benefited from the animation as it helped convey the fact that the rules of time and space don’t apply here.
- The action scenes and the destruction scenes from the Rumbling were the coolest*. That, added to the reservations I wrote above, make me fear we’ll have a lot of cool fight scenes at the expense of not giving enough screen time to the characters and the story. *I appreciated the titan falling off the hill; however the physics of the rumbling come with their own set of problems that I might adress at some point – some of which I did elaborate about in my fic about Hange.
I will try to rewatch the special at some point, ideally back to back with the last chapter from S4part2, to see how much of the rush and the wonky acting was there or just my imagination.

SAME SAME
I have so many thoughts about the in-universe implications of some things, if not removed for being video game mechanics. Artifacts especially. Also, the personal pocket dimensions. The Traveler definitely, cutscene confirmed, canonically has one they summon from and have since before Teyvat. In order for the field tiller quest to make sense, Dainsleif disappearing the eye has to be literal. There's just - no way for that to work with the entire ruin guard eye tucked under his arm, even if we just couldn't see it. Amber doesn’t have Baron Bunny following her around, and in the manga I believe she literally summons it. But, like, it's a real physical item, not an Oz. I feel we also see some other Vision holders' weapons summoned in cutscenes? Probably? maybe also in the manga, I'm not certain, but they do have weapons they weren't storing on their persons previously. Obviously there's idles but I'm gonna assume Diluc isn't magically summoning a whole live bird. In gameplay, Klee summons bombs, but she canonically keeps them in pack and hides them - why bother if she could just disappear them for safe keeping? Why not have a whole demand to have vision holders transfer bulk shipments for max capacity, and for safe keeping for likely-to-be-stolen items? How do you rob someone who can do that? How long can a non-Traveler vision holder keep something in there? What happens if they die? The visionless NPCs certainly can't - it would be utilized and completely undermine all the many, many quests and problems and inconveniences about carts and transportation and manpower etc they have. What happens if you try to out a non-magic alive thing in there? Lots of writers call it a vision compartment, but as the fandom is always asking on every topic every: what's up with Dainsleif?
Bursts and their names are voice line canon, but character do way many elemental things outside of their skill/burst abilities. ("Dandelion Field" specifically.) Are these just chosen descriptors for specific things you can do with vision, and not limited to them? Do they feel different? Do you make up the names? What's up with that? How many are actually called that in-universe - I'm sure not everyone would be designating fancy alliterative names to all their individual superpowers.
not what you were talking about, but in relation to the idea of Traveler having infinite magic pockets, one of my favorite Traveler-the-Character headcanons is the idea of them having food/resource scarcity trauma because... don't recall how much they strictly do need food or don't besides that they do eat, but they've been implied to be alive for a very long time. Something just tickles me about the idea of (near?) infinite worlds, and how even if 90% of them have things you can eat or are compatible with somehow, a theoretical "10%" of infinity is still the chance to go centuries upon centuries without encountering a world not hostile to you, or that hasn't deteriorated to a horrible state of danger. Even if it's not food, specifically, just... safe stuff. Teapot Nahida points out in-game that they apparently canonically grab all the mint and such they see. It's a joke about video game behavior, but also! We don't know what they had on them before being cast to Teyvat and that they lost when that happened! And if you need to be that prepared for any number of any type of worlds before you come across another one this hospital to you, it's a gamble to have enough no matter how many years prior you spend gathering. On one hand I feel like that kind of takes away from the whimsy-ness their travels are somewhat connotated with? but idk. Also when food comes up they have a reoccurring thing about saving money items etc. gotta level up those talents
idk perhaps something in canon we know about their traveling or the hoyoverse contradictes this, and feel free to disagree, but I like the concept. drop the pre-Teyvat Traveler lore PLEASE
anon i forgot to respond to your ask im so sorry. it's been a few days since the discussion but yes so true i love to think about this

Mer Erina taking a while to learn to trust Speedwagon because he's a human but Mer Jonathan helps ease tensions between the two and they eventually become the best of friends who happen to love the same merman :3
I'm gonna be That Kind of Nerd again, but I can definitely see some parallels between that and the OG, and I'm here for it!
In the og, especially in the manga because this was one of the many scenes DavidPro left out of the anime, the first meeting between Erina and Speedwagon doesn't go very well, with Erina plain out telling Speedwagon to leave without giving him a chance to explain who he was or what he was doing there. He even mentions that she was cold and assumes she was treating him that way due to his scar and his general rough looks, and which ultimately makes him make the decision of leaving and coming back and trespass later that same day (and which also gives us the gem that was Speedwagon doing some Victorian parkour despite his broken bones and punctured lung in order to go see his boyfriend).
This is rarely ever talked in depth but, in those rare instances where it is, it is usually assumed that Erina and Speedwagon didn't really think greatly of the other at first. So it was most likely Jonathan who cleared some of the misunderstandings that were starting to form between the two, and this most definitely happened the morning after Speedwagon breaking into the hospital (as he says that he will be coming back in the morning, and we all know that he's a man of his word, especially when it's something that involves Jonathan).
I don't think they were all buddy-buddies from the start because, yeah, they have Jonathan's word to trust the other is not as bad as they initially thought, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't be kinda wary and maybe a little judgemental too? I mean, Erina most likely wasn't very thrilled about Jonathan being boyfriends with who at first glance gave it away that he was a dangerous thug (scars were a HUGE giveaway at the time, and they were also considered "deformities"). As understanding as she can be, especially as a caregiver, truth is there was most likely some vague prejudice at the time (and which was completely thrown out of the window as Erina and Speebs became friends). On Speedwagon's end, we all know he's never had the best of views towards people in the upper classes, and this would of course include Erina at first, even when he can tell she's not evil (lets not forget that Speedwagon can tell a genuinely bad and evil person from a good one just by smell alone).
So yeah, it definitely took them some time to get over that and find out that Hey, maybe this guy is not some dick-wad trying to rob Jonathan and genuinely cares about the man and wants the best for him, and that Hey, maybe this lady isn't the upper class prick she seemed to be at first and just wanted to be sure Jonathan would be safe whenever he's around. And lets also not forget to add that they both probably liked each other better once they found out they all dislike Dio lol.
This is also one of the reasons why it can be said without an ounce of a doubt that they bonded over their shared love for Jonathan. Over time, they became best friends who happen to love the same man. It gets even better when you factor in Speedwagon being gay and the fact that Erina has always seemed to be accepting of his sexuality in the og.
And in all honesty, I can really see all this translating very well into the mer AU(s), especially in this one where both Erina and Jonathan are mers and Speedwagon is a human.
Despite the advances being made, humans overall aren't very well-known for their general "kindness" towards other species, always taking more land and polluting the sea and so on. So, yeah, I can definitely see Erina being the most wary between the two towards any and all humans. And, idk?? Maybe she has had bad experiences with humans before? OG Erina is a beautiful lady, and mer Erina wouldn't be far from that. It is also common knowledge that crew men on ships as well as those working by the docks are usually, well.... not very well mannered, specially towards ladies. So yeah, chances are she's come across some nasty and even cruel guys in the past (fishing can involve some serious cruelty depending on the creatures being captured, but I'm not gonna go into detail there).
Jonathan, on the other hand, being this huge powerhouse, has probably never had the same issues (or at least not in the same intensity) as Erina, so he's more prone to trusting humans. Much like OG Jona though, he too can see through people's intentions, but he tends to decide to trust them for different reasons, kinda like he did with Dio in the OG and why he put some distance between them both throughout those 7 years they were raised as brothers. It's not that he couldn't see how horrible Dio was, it's just that he decided to "trust" him, mainly for the sake of their father and with the intention of having a relatively normal family life.
In this case of the AU, he trusts that not all humans are -nor can be- as terrible as some of those people Erina has told him about (some of which he has seen himself, too, in some occasions), and that's kinda how he befriends Speedwagon at first.
Jonathan knows how on edge Erina gets whenever he interacts with humans, so he probably kept Speedwagon a secret from her at first, as not to make her feel uneasy or to make her worry about him. Again, Jonathan is smart enough to understand when someone's intentions towards him are not precisely the best, so he was definitely able to tell Speedwagon has never meant any harm from the day they first met.
As time goes on, and the relationship between Jonathan and Speedwagon becomes deeper and stronger, Jonathan begins to spend more and more time "somewhere". It is also due to how important both Erina and Speedwagon are to Jonathan, that Jona decides to break the news to Erina and tells her about Speedwagon. She isn't too happy about it because of what she thinks was a dangerous thing to do (befriending or even developing a relationship with a human), but she ultimately agrees to come with him the next time he goes to see Speedwagon. Then again, she can't really forbid Jonathan from seeing him, and it would also be good to at least meet who this guy is so she can throw hands in case he ever wrongs Jonathan.
So, yeah. First meeting between Erina and Speebs doesn't go too well in this AU either, since Erina is probably as cold (or even colder) to Robert as she was in the og, and just Not Looking Very Happy, which Robert assumes it's her being some prick with some kind of superiority complex.
And yeah, Jonathan had to step in and stop the tension from escalating further. They are the most important people in his life, after all!! He wants them to get along and be friends. And it works, as they at least remain civil towards each other for the rest of the evening. As time goes on, and Jonathan convinces Erina to tag along on some of those occasions he goes to visit Speebs, they get to know each other a little more and, like in the OG, with Jonathan's help, they tackle down some of those misunderstandings and bad ideas they had about each other, eventually becoming big friends and also finding out that they both think Jonathan is the cutest merman ever and even giggle together about it (making Jonathan blush in the process).

death note rant
SPOILERS
manga: volume 11-12 and a little before
anime: after episode 25
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
here’s the rant you’ve probably heard a million times already considering it’s 2022 and this was released back in like 2003.
i’m not new to the series, i’ve watched it multiple times, but this is the first time i’ve read the manga and oh my god. volumes 11-12 made me roll my eyes. near’s reasoning was supposed to be “based on logic and hard facts” kind of like L— though nothing like L. so when i say the ending in a bunch of horse 💩 it’s because it honestly is. light was written to be incredibly intelligent and intelligent enough to outsmart and kill L. we know near does not match L since it was stated by both light and near himself and that since light is above L, light is also above near. he “suspects” mikami just because he showed up twice to a show ?? what ?? that’s enough to make him kira’s accomplice?? literally thousands if not millions were doing that. there are so many other ways to implicate mikami and THATS the one they went with ?? because he was on a show with the same host twice and that’s enough to get close to kira ???? out of millions of people doing it ?? it was a show to talk about kira— a literal show that probably had more people on various occasions as well. then they suspect NOBODY else ? like what ??? literally grasping on straws. this is not a deduction they made, it was a deduction forced onto them by the writers. they’re not winning because they outsmarted light, they’re winning because the writers needed the spk to win.
along with that, light was written to be highly intelligent and that was shown time and time again throughout the anime and manga. but in the last few volumes, he became incompetent out of seemingly nowhere and was written— to be frank— as an idiot. which was completely unlike his character. and his character was built up and reinforced very strongly.
the issue isn’t that light lost. whether he won or not is not what i’m getting at. it’s the way it’s written that totally robs the story of an actual good ending.
like you’re telling me that this foreigner from america who is likely not japanese considering they set it up as a japanese vs american matter at some point, managed to write thousands of kanji in one day with the full precision and with the correct stroke order ? in a consistent size matching mikami’s? thousands and thousands of names ? with a writing system he is likely not as familiar with ? and that’s the reason light lost ??
even if he did know japanese, knowing japanese does not equate to knowing who knows how many kanji. the average japanese speaker knows around 2,000 kanji in order to be able to read lots of media. the death note had hundreds of pages filled entirely from bottom to top with names squeezed in so many could be filled. that’s likely well over 2,000 kanji and there’s no way a foreigner who likely does not have much experience with the language can be familiar with. and the stroke order. to put it into perspective, even if he did know the stroke order for every single kanji, he would still not be able to copy everything entirely even without taking breaks for food, water, rest, or a bathroom break. plus hand cramps !
sure, near got pictures of the pages before that day:
Tumblr media
but doing it all in ONE day ? specifically— overnight ?
nah that’s just lazy writing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then with the added detail that mikami regularly checked on the death notes for tampering ? with incredible precision ?
Tumblr media
you cannot tell me kira didn’t win.
ok i’ll add this too i hate near but it’s not really his fault. maybe in another life. sike. i still hate near.
anyways i still love matsuda even tho he’s the reason near didn’t die but whatever he’s super cute so he gets a pass
so that’s that this is really not a big deal whatsoever i’m gonna keep living my life 😭 i just wanted to voice my opinion

I'm having a self-love and also a loud-mouth today and I've been watching a lot of "why X live action adaptation of manga/anime was terrible" video which has made me want to be negative. Just still not over this so I just want to compile a list of things that made it impossible for me to stay immersed and enjoy gomens2. This is brought to you by reading stuff about how it just doesn't vibe with "x audience" NO season 1 didn't really vibe with me, but I still liked it because it was fundamentally good in most respects. Also the idea that people who didn't like it didn't just because they felt Aziraphale was stinky at the end. So, anyway, specific things I couldn't stand: 1. Crowley and Aziraphale meeting as angels even though that scene in eden in season one was easily read as the first time they met. I was very VERY willing to forgive this one because the scene was cute and well done, but in retrospect it should have been a warning for what was to come.
2. the birds making goat noises. they didn't need to make goat noises. they could have just been there, tons of birds of the same species just hanging around for no reason, Aziraphale could have put that together. you really had to make them baaaa?? that scene would have been so clever and fun without the goat noises. Petty, probably, but another thing I would have forgiven if it wasn't for what followed.
3. The entire, ridiculous, long, drawn-out and painful sequence of convincing the angels that Job's kids were not the same kids. What the fuck even was that, there had to be 99 better was to execute that but they overthought it.
4. Crowley introduces Aziraphale to food was the first sign that I felt like they were an annoying level of 'these two are everything to each other even on a stupid, unnecessary level and they basically have no characteristics that are completely independent of one-another' which continued throughout the rest of the past storylines.
5. The bullet catching thing was so stupid and boring, the whole thing, and the ending where he magics away the photo was probably the most cliche and poorly executed "aha!" i've seen in a while, and they seriously dedicated an entire (the worst) episode to building up to it. You basically ruined the book-rescue scene and moment by branching that nonsense off of it.
6. What the hell even was the entire grave robbing episode? Somehow not as bad as the magician episode though.
8. The plot point of trying to convince heaven Nina and Maggie were in love by making them fall in love was so fucking... ugh I wanna say it I just want to say it it was soooooo fffffff...fffaaaaannffiiii okay you get it.
9. The exploding halo things was weird and goofy and "oh you exploded your halo not only did it solve all of the problems currently present but it summoned everyone we need to the area so we can deliver this final reveal" what the fuck was that.
10. Beelzebub and Gabriel, while the fact that their relationship spanned the entirety of the season from the first scene offered a microscopic amount of charm, the actual reveal was so B and half-assed that even though Beelzebub's actress did a very nice job with the love-struck looks that almost got me all by themselves it was otherwise practically unwatchable.
11. Maggie and Nina's talk with Crowley was so 90's romcom and not in a good way, it didn't belong. I use talks as awkward and forced as that when I don't feel like doing actual work to develop romance when writing fanfiction. You literally could have left that out and let Crowley react to Beelzebub and Gabriel by confessing instead. You overthought it, you did too much, an innocent mistake but the pile was already so big that I'm throwing it on.
12. So, basically, by the time the actual dramatic scene which was actually not that terrible as a whole, the dialogue was weird at times but david tennant's delivery especially rescued it every single step of the way but it didn't fucking matter because I was already emotionally numb to the entire situation from all the bullshit they tried to sell me in the first 5 episodes.
The acting was good, the humor was honestly great, I did at least laugh a lot which at least let me get some joy out of the experience. Even the visuals were absolutely fine to me. It really was just the writing, everything else tried so hard to save it but it's a story, the writing is key.

daiya no ace long post that nobody asked for but i literally just finished it rn and i have a lot of thoughts
(mutuals who are into sports manga/anime please WALK WITH ME and what i have to say)
Tumblr media
daiya no ace (ace of diamond) is a sports manga centered on baseball written by yuji terajima. it follows sawamura eijun, a pitcher, who was scouted to join an private high school known for its baseball team.
im going to be outright: i did not get this it at all when i first tried consuming it. initially, i tried watching the anime after a friend recommended it to me and it was also the first time ive ever heard of daiya. ao ashi is my favorite sport manga/anime of all time and she said that since i liked ao ashi sm, i should check daiya out since the two works have some parallels. so i did.
but i couldn’t get into it. it was so painfully slow and i also think my headspace/current situation at that time also had a play in it. i think i got to around seven episodes and stopped because things were barely moving forward. im a busy college student, and i really wanted to watch something that would entertain me during my rare free time, and it wasn’t doing it for me. so i stopped watching. but i wasn’t opposed to picking it back again some other time around.
fast forward to now. it’s a semester break, i picked the manga up a few days ago and decided to come back to the story but to read the source material first because im in a sports manga kick after reading slam dunk. and i think just found my second favorite sports manga.
like my experience, i understand that this may not be for everyone and that it’s hard to get into. the story really takes it time, act 1 (the one im talking here btw and the one i just finished. ill start act 2 tomorrow) has around 400 chapters and the protagonist isn’t even a starter for his team by the end of it. and you could say that it’s realistic and beats other sports mangas in the field in the realism department. because being an athlete isn’t easy, being the best in a team doesn’t happen in a blink of an eye.
but im telling you pls PLS give it a chance because once it kicks in, you can’t stop reading. like i kid you not while reading throughout the series and i only had a hundred something pages left, i felt like i was robbing my future self of joy by continuing reading because that means that the story would end soon (i know there’s act 2 but). like i simply did not want it to end soon, but at the same time i want to know what happens next.
the mc is also going down by my books of favorite protagonists of all time, and i want to add that im someone who don’t gravitate towards mcs most of the time. for some reason, other characters like a deuteragonist or side characters tend to catch my attention more. watching him grow and his journey was so … uplifting ? and it was such a joy i was rooting for him all throughout.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i also think that the manga does a good job in portraying the unpredictability of sports. most of the times in sports mangas/animes, the formula would be: main team would lose to the big guys, main team would train, main team would fight the big guys again, then they win. but thats not the case for daiya (i mean they will face them off again in act 2 but the fact that it subverts the formula in act 1 still stands), which again, accurately portrays the unpredictability of sports irl. some favorites to win get eliminated shockingly.
the story also does a good portrayal of a healthy rivalry where the competition between the two rivals (eijun and furuya) mutually allows them to grow and better themselves. not only that, but they’re also supportive of each other and have a good relationship overall.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyways now i want to talk about my favorite character: miyuki
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
can i just say MI CAPITAN. literally my number one boy we cannot replace.
when i first tried watching the anime and my friend (the one who recommended it to me) asked me who are the characters that caught my eye from the few episodes ive seen, i mentioned a bunch of characters and she was in disbelief that i didnt mention miyuki and now that ive read the entire thing IM IN DISBELIEF TOO.
i just love him sm and the way he supports his juniors/pitchers. not to mention hes really an integral part of the team as the catcher, captain, and was responsible for two important aspects in a game in order for them to win. his whole performance in the seikou game is the biggest i am him performance ever and he just moves me sm like idk if i want to be with him or BE HIM. ive only finished part 1 and im curious to know more about his character on the second act.
anyways i think ive rambled too much and idk how to close this huge word vomit but yeah. READ DAIYA!! genuinely give it a chance and you wont regret it
