#but again the slogan itself kinda irks me in that it implies hate is the only problem Asians face

also movement tags being pinned all the time is extremely performative on tumblrs side. i get that this site is very usamerican but it just feels wrong to have only blm and sah when other movement like palestine for example really needs our help with spreading awareness. if tumblr really wants to help with activism they should not pick and choose like this lol.
i know i may have come off as very rude but as a non-usamerican i'm tired of people pushing us aside when we need help.
Ur not coming off as rude! I agree with you that it is performative and largely focused on what happens in the US, and that Tumblr picks and chooses what news to spread and base its platform off of. There are legitimate critiques to be made about censorship and other forms of media manipulation in social media, news outlets, government officials and documents, etc. The SAH tag has seen some discussion of that regarding how Palestine is covered, and that’s good! People should be aware of how public consent is manufactured and how that is dangerous especially in relation to how we perceive worldwide events. But as with any movement, there’s only so much that awareness can do. You can know what’s happening in a movement, you can spread posts, you can educate yourself with books and articles and podcasts and videos, you can make donations… but it doesn’t really amount to being on the ground, protesting, protecting victims of state violence, occupying government properties, etc. It doesn’t even amount to the more “respectable” forms of political action like contacting a politician or volunteering. That’s the whole problem with social media activism in general… People can feel good about thinking they at least know that something is happening without putting in substantial efforts to really contribute
