Ride 760: Kiji, flying
Tumblr media
Pag 1
The MTB Emperor is taking part in the road racing Inter High!!
Tumblr media
Pag 2
1: As expected!!
2: The groups from Kyushu, like Fukuoka or Kumamoto are in quiet places close to the course and the main office
3: and close to the water supplies too!!
4: Well, they're from here after all
5: On the other hand, we're towards the end where there's so much noise
6: And above everything, they clearly.... forgot
Tumblr media
Pag 3
1: only our tent and they added it in a hurry, fou!!
Tumblr media
Pag 4
1: Hmm, that could be
Is it because it's our debut? That's discrimination!!
2: It's handwritten!!
And it's even spelled wrong!!
3: In this kind of situations, you can't do anything even if you get so worked up about it, Ichifuji-kun
Isn't it enough that we have a roof?
Tumblr media
Pag 5
2: Should I fix that writing with magic later?
3: Sonomoto-san!!
4: The place is a problem too!!
We're close to where they're holding the bicycles exhibition, so there's a lot of people passing by and they can see us since we have no tent
5: And when we're changing clothes? We use the bath towel like this, that's what they do on elementary schools' pools!! Fou!!
6: During MTB races you either do it in a car or in the wild
It's not like the management just conveniently forgot about us, either
Tumblr media
Pag 6
1: But the truth is that we're being treated unequally....?
What about you, Kaida!? What do you think!?
Should we go tho the management tent and say a word to them now? Fou!!
3: I've never got any results in MTB and never participated in the Inter High, so for me it's sufficient enough that I'm able to participate in the road racing Inter High
4: Stuff like the tent aren't important
Ugh.....!! You're kidding, I have zero supporters in this situation!!
Tumblr media
Pag 7
1: And isn't it nice to have good ventilation?
2: And also... if you have to say something to the management
Don't you think it would be more persuasive
3: if we first ran in the race
4: and brought results?
Tumblr media
Pag 8
1: If we brought results.....!!
2: Fou!! (Yessir)
Now, if you're ready
3: Should we all go for a trial run?
Fou!!
Yeah!!
Yes!!
Tumblr media
Pag 9
2: Excuse me! This is a pedestrians crossing!
Tumblr media
Pag 10
4: Hello
Are you maybe? A kid from here?
How.....
5: do you stand on the bike like that?
Tumblr media
Pag 11
1: Are you interested in bikes?
Even though your feet aren't connected to the ground, you're still in one place
2: Do you want to try?
4: I guess you won't be able to do it right away, but this is the theory
5: Bikes have a center
I'm standing there
6: A center?
7: It's different depending on the model, but a little before the saddle there's the center point of the bike
8: The technique is that you feel for it, find your balance, and then you find your stability if you properly position your body
Tumblr media
Pag 12
1: It's called “standing”
Ohhhh...!!
2: Furthermore, if you can put your center of gravity firmly there
4: you can also let go of your hands while standing still, yon
Amazing.....!!
5: Amazing, amazing..!!
6: Yes yes, that's right, Kiji-san is amazing
Why does this guy looks so self-important
7: What's the heaviest thing on a bike?
Tumblr media
Pag 13
1: Uh... uhm... the helmet?
3: It's your body
4: When riding a bike, the most important thing is to be conscious of where we put this “body”*, yon
Ah, when you're holding a bucket, if you're holding it with one hand you stagger, right?
(*NdT.: written as “heavy object”)
5: It's the same thing
6: “Weight” is power, yon
Ehh?
Tumblr media
Pag 14
1: When you stop thinking “that's obvious”, “I know that”
2: That's when it's over for you
3: Discovery lies in common sense
4: The essential thing when handling a bike.... remember
5: is the “load” and the “unloading” to get ahead of it!!
Tumblr media
Pag 15
1: Maybe it's faster if I show you?
2: Ah, that's good
Look at that fence
3: The movement of the “load”, and the “unloading”... and....
Use the same method as when you jump to take a picture at the beach
5: I'll jump over that fence!!
Tumblr media
Pag 16
1: No, isn't it better to stop!? Onii-chan!!
2: You'll run into it!!
Just look, boy
3: Hayaaaa
That guy
4: is a guy who jumps over common sense!!
Yaaaaa
Tumblr media
Pag 17
2: Don't miss all the multiple techniques he uses in an instant!!
Fou!!
He looks so self-important
3: First, he moves his body back and so he unload the weight from the front wheel
6: “Unloading”!!
Tumblr media
Pag 18
1: He's really going to cras-
He's not!!
2: Then, he lowers his body's center of gravity for a moment
3: Then he stretches!!
And pulls the frame!!
5: He's not high enough!!
This is the moment when you jump when taking pictures!!
6: Pull up
7: your knees
The technique of skillfully using your “load” to jump over obstacles
Tumblr media
Pag 19
1: is called “bunny hop”!!
Tumblr media
Pag 20
1: There are people who have mastered the technique and can do it, but it's at most 30cm.... but Kiji-san
2: can jump 80cm!!
3: Who's that guy!
Did you see that just now
4: He jumped that fence with a road racer
His bike floated!?
The fence!?
5: I've never seen something like that
The jerseys' of the guys who are with him say “Gunma”....!!
6: It was ama.... amazing....
That.... if I practice... will I be able to do it too one day?
Of course
Tumblr media
Pag 21
1: If you fall a lot, and skin your knees a lot, and eat a lot....
2: Okay?
3: Well now, since we're participating in the Inter High, come see us!!
4: I'll cheer for you...!!
Thank you!
5: The cyclists will soon gather at the starting line!!

very sad still see the saria/silence divorce headcanon still going around
have you ever tried to consider that they never dated before lone trail because it would be unrealistic with the timeline and the events and also because it would be overshadowing the actual truth of why they couldn't get along
#i'll elaborate#firstly it's ok if you headcanon this i don't want to invalidate what people think#it's just that I think it's a fanon joke that have been going around for way too long#and I can't help but shed a small tear when I see people really headcanoning it#I personally think it's way more interesting if we consider that they never had something going on before Lone Trail#mostly because it's weird that they started dating in like some months when they barely knew or saw each other#but also because it adds nothing but just makes things even more harder for them#my personal headcanon is that Silence was maybe having feelings for Saria but like#you know these very premature feelings#like just “oh wow she's pretty and nice”#but nothing like really deep#but they never had anything going on before the diabolic crisis#and after lone trail after they made up and saw each other's true person#they start to actually get real feelings#I'm just complaining but I've been still seeing it around somehow and it's sad to me that this joke became a fact for many people#there's still a lot of fanfics about how they had been dating and now they're on bad terms#I think that going on the “they're exes” route is way too easy and actually hides the potential and interesting reason#of why Silence was mad at Saria#it's not because she hates Saria or blame her#it's because she's mad at herself for being so weak#really making them appear as exes just hides this really interesting truth and makes it all seem to be a sad love story#consider that they never had any of this and that this tension between them is because they blame themselves!!#their story is not a love story but above all a story about self love and acceptance#just my two cents enjoy my rambling i go back to bed now#(not putting this in the main tag I don't want to start a war I'm just rambling)

I don't know if anyone else feels this way but I think a big reason why I'm so chill about the changes made to the PJO show from the books is because I kind of look at each other as their own seperate canon.
Like, I read a lot of anime and manga, and anime adaptations have a huge habit for changing plot points for various reasons, and as a fan of said anime and manga, I've found that I can enjoy both versions of the same story even with the differences when I look at them as their own universe or canon. That's not to say I don't want them to be faithful or true to the source material, but if a scene or situation plays out differently for a logical or entertaining reason, than I can still appreciate that deviation from the manga even if I still like the other original version of that part more. And I can even like the reversal way if I feel an anime does something better than even the manga. But if I want to, I can look at certain moments as more canon than others because I got 2 different versions of that same scene or moment.
And, I don't know, I kind of apply that reasoning to the PJO series as well, mainly with the books, the show, and even the musical (not the movies put that right back where it came from). So far I'm loving the TV show, and while I miss some of the things they changed (like the pink poodle), this adaptation really is doing a great job with staying true to the heart and spirit of the original book that I personally am not even really bothered by the changes, especially when I remember that the books will always still be there with it's own version, or canon, of events.
Like, I will say 1 thing I adore in the books that isn't really in the show is the fact that a lot of Percy and Annabeth's "rivalry" during TLT has more to do with the rivalry between Poseidon and Athena. I just really like on how this adds a level of "forbidden friendship/love" to their relationship 'cause I personally eat the forbidden relationship trope up, especially when it's done well like with Percabeth.
Yet, even if this isn't really the reason percabeth have beef with each other in the show, I can still appreciate and enjoy that according to the show's canon, they have issues because they genuinely have problems with each other as actual people rather than their parents' rivalry, because at the end of the day, that's the PJO TV show canon, and I can always turn to the books for that version of Percabeth's "rivalry", as that is the PJO book canon.
Same goes for the characters too. I will always have and love my dark haired Percy and blond haired Annabeth in the books, but I can also welcome and love Walker's Percy and Leah's Annabeth from the show. And so far, they along with Aryan are KILLING IT as those characters.
I can love both versions of the characters.
I can love both versions of the same story.
I can look at both versions as they own seperate canon or mix them together if I so wish too (especially since both versions of PJO are written by the same guy)
And that's ok. The adaptation doesn't have to be a complete copy of the books. It doesn't have to have things play out eactly the same way. The characters don't have to look exactly the way they are described as in the books. And that's ok. I will still always have the books to love and appreciate, but I can also start to love and appreciate the new adaptation for it's new spin and twists to the same story that sets it apart as it's own canon while still staying true to the spirit of its predecessor.
Anyway, sorry if I'm not making a lot of sense. I just think the people complaining about the changes in the show are looking at it all the wrong way. The show has it's own canon just as the books have their own canon, or even the musical. At the end of the day, isn't that kind of cool to have different versions of the same story and characters? Doesn't it give you so many more options to look at the story in different ways that you can prefer or choose from? Doesn't it give you new versions of canon that you choose from? And really, as long as the PJO adaptation, or any adaptation for that matter, stays true to the heart and spirit of the original story and characters, do the changes made really matter?
#anyway sorry for the long post#I've just been seeing a lot of people complaining about the PJO making changes from the books and I thought I give my 2 cents#& I thought about how the show dies make enough changes to certain events or plotpoints that you could look at it as its own seperate canon#and how that actually is kind of cool as it gives us another version of the same story and characters#it's actually really neat to have different versions of the same story ya know#its like. if I ever want the Percabeth that has more of a 'forbidden relationship' thing going on. there's always the book canon to fall on#likewise if I want the percabeth where they're rivals because they have genuine issues w/ eachother. there's the TV show. ya know?#and if I want the Athena that I can at least somewhat believe might actually care for Annabeth. there's the book canon#whereas if I want the Athena I straight up wanna strangle from the getgo. I now got the TV show for that😊#same with the characters descriptions#I personally still imagine Percy and Annabeth as they are described in the books#but I am positvely loving Leah and Walker's portrayal of TV Percy and Annabeth so much. especially in these last few episodes.#and don't get me started on how much I love Aryan as Grover. he's the GOAT (literally🤭)#anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk#I just think its neat that Ive now got 2. even 3 versions of PJO canon that I can love together and individually at my disposal now#and I just think the people who are complaining about the show aren't seeing it that way and that's why they're whining about changes#like. chill guys. we still have the books. but now we also the show and musical to give us new versions of the same story and characters#and is that not amazing when you think about it?#percy jackson series#percy jackson and the olympians#percy jackson tv show#percy jackson#percy and annabeth#athena#annabeth chase#grover underwood#book vs show#percy jackson books#percy jackson musical#percabeth

What do you think about this: "Kakashi was never interested in Sasuke as an individual, he only projected himself into him and saw a smaller version of himself on Sasuke, Sasuke was never Sasuke to him, just a little Kakashi". I wanted to know your opinion because I miss your meta posts and I feel like lately people are hating Kakashi for things that aren't real :/, also you are really good at explaining and I feel that both characters need love
Hello! Thanks for the question!
The answer to "what do i think about this" is, honestly, that I don't think about it X) I watched the whole show without engaging with the fandom at all (for fear of spoilers, initially), so I was able to experience it without being exposed to anyone else's thoughts, and now that I'm done I generally still avoid poking around, because devoting mental energy to opinions that I find bizarre/not supported by the text doesn't enhance my fandom experience.
Kakashi and Sasuke's relationship is one of the most compelling things about the series to me. I was very surprised when I finished the show/manga and first exposed myself to the fandom only to find so few people invested in them, but at this point I've (mostly) stopped asking myself "what show was everyone else watching" and just settled into enjoying the show that I watched, because that's more fun for me. I can't convince people not to dislike Kakashi if that's what they want to do. I do find it a little weird, because I don't think that's what the story is asking from us, but as long as people mind their business and aren't bugging me on my own blog, they're free to do what they want.
I know it can be frustrating when there are people hating various characters for "things that aren't real," but the fact that these criticisms aren't "real" is precisely why I generally avoid engaging with them. For Kakashi, specifically, there are certain things people can say that will immediately make me stop taking them seriously - "projecting" is one. "Bootlicking" is another, but again, these terms are so wildly inaccurate that I'm not interested in talking about them. The manga and the show are easily accessible; if people want to rewatch/re-read them, they can.
In general, I just prefer to avoid engaging with most of the fandom negativity I see. I think overall most of the rancor I've stumbled across boils down to people engaging with the story in very ungenerous ways, if that makes sense, and that's not how I prefer to read/watch things. Like - back when I was still in the middle of watching the show, I remember someone sent me a message saying that they loved seeing me talk about the story with earnestness/joy, and it was such a lovely message to receive, but it also made me pause and wonder for a second if this was really an uncommon enough thing to be remarked upon. Wouldn't that be the default? Aren't we all here because we love the story and the characters so much? But the truth is that sometimes it does feel like large chunks of fandom spaces (not just Naruto, I mean; I've certainly experienced this elsewhere) are very focused on being negative about "things that aren't real," as you said. Like - people calling Sakura "abusive" for bopping Naruto on the head when he says something rude, when this is not something the text is even remotely trying to say about her. People writing off Jiraiya's entire storyline because of the non-consensual spying on women - which, yes, of course, is disgusting and wrong. Obviously. I am very aware of that. However, I can simultaneously recognize that the story isn't really interested in that or intending me to read it like that; the voyeurism is written as a joke (yes, I understand how gross that is) and there are a hundred potential personal and/or patriarchal and/or genre-related and/or cultural factors that may have gone into Kishimoto writing this particular fail. If I want to understand and appreciate what the story was ACTUALLY trying to communicate with Jiraiya (that he's an idealist who gave up on the world when everything went wrong, who turned to shallow pleasures of the flesh to distract him from the pain of his disillusionment, and who was finally restored to his former faith after meeting Naruto), then I have to mindfully set the voyeurism aside and go, "This writer wrote a gross thing, and I recognize that, but I'm also not going to fixate on it, because I can simultaneously appreciate/find meaning in what he was really trying to say."
I think some of the Kakashi complaints out there very much fall under this umbrella. If I have to see one more person frothing at the mouth about Kakashi briefly tying Sasuke (a qualified ninja who has already demonstrated his ability to escape rope restraints and whom Kakashi has been individually mentoring, sparring against, and connecting with for a month) to a tree for approximately sixty seconds - honestly. I don't know how to tell people they're missing the point, so I don't bother.
Ultimately, the fact of the matter is that people are entitled to dislike any character that they want, even for contrived reasons. As long as they're doing their own thing in their own space and letting me do my thing in mine, we're good.

LOTRO venting re the reactions I’m seeing to the new update, with the disclaimer that I’m very very white and obviously can’t speak for any POC:
Man, I gotta say, I am severely disappointed with the reaction of so many people to the new Men options. And honestly, a little shocked. LOTRO has by far the nicest, most welcoming community of folks I’ve encountered in an MMO, and it feels disconcerting to see the ugly underside of that. Like, yes, the Tolkien fandom as a whole has always had that subset of racists, but LOTRO’s always felt much more niche and welcoming. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised, but - I am, a little.
But seriously - the influx of inanities, the sheer immaturity I’m seeing on these comments. Adding more diversity to the character options is ‘ruining the game immersion’ and ‘an insult to Tolkien’s vision’ and all the other phrases these people like to throw around to cover up the simpler meaning of ‘POC shouldn’t exist here’. It’s the same thing that happened with Rings of Power.
And you know, I can even almost understand the point I’ve seen made several times, that they should have added more actual race options to go along with these new looks - Haradrim, Southron, Rhun, etc. And yes, that would be great! But a) do the people complaining even know how often players have chosen race not based on location, but on the visual options? Roleplayers do this ALL THE TIME. And b) until the devs DO give those options for more race origins, why not just... have the diversity in the character creation anyway? Why does it hurt so much if you can’t actually shuffle them off into another box that’s labelled ‘POC’ in your brain? I really don’t know whether to start Hulk-smashing people in my imagination or just sit here and laugh at their poor offended tears.
And then women with beard options - got to witness those reactions in SWTOR not long ago, and now in LOTRO. Someone quite correctly made the point that if you don’t care for such options, just don’t use them, to which the offended individual responded, in essence, ‘but they’re still being forced on me every time I see someone else playing one’.
Seriously. How is more options EVER a bad thing? How hard is it to just say ‘this is not for me’ and move on with your life? People -
Grow.
Up.
There are legitimate issues with the new update. I’ve seen a lot of general cosmetic bugs reported, and the whole face customisation being reset on acceptance is HIGHLY frustrating, when you have to go back and redo all the sliders when all you wanted to do was change your eyebrows. But MORE OPTIONS is not. An. Issue.
I can’t wait to see what happens if Elves get a revamp with darker skin tones....
(But also lol at all the people throwing hissy fits and saying they’re quitting over this. Trash takes itself out, I suppose!)

one of the most infuriating things that happens in discussions about trans people is like, when a transphobe talks about how its just SOOOO easy to access gender affirming care, it's so easy to get on hrt or get referred for surgery etc... some of you dense motherfuckers respond to this by saying "no!!! it's not easy!!!! its so hard!!!" & listen. i KNOW that it IS HARD for many of us. and in many places it's getting harder. but tell me this: isn't the goal, eventually, to make it easy? not just easier than right now, but genuinely easy for a transgender person to access the care they need on whatever timeline they want, no matter how fast or slow? so if you spend all your time right now combating transphobia by insisting that transition is difficult and taxing and traumatizing, what are you going to do if and when it's none of those things? if there is no endless suffering and million hoops?
when someone says "it's too easy to transition" in order to justify their own transphobia, and you say "no it's not", you're also saying "if it were, your feelings would be justified". which is already kind of a terrible implication without taking into consideration that what most of these people mean by "too easy" is "possible". they mean that you can transition and they don't want you to. point blank. when you say it's difficult, they think "good. it should be harder". it will never be difficult enough to not be easy to them.
i am literally so sick & tired of all of us throwing each other under the bus in order to advocate for a future that is fucking miserable and awful. when someone tells you their nightmare scenario is transgender people being happy, you should not be responding to that by reassuring them that actually, transgender people are miserable and always have been and always will. when someone complains about how easy transition is you should say "good". we are never getting out of this fucking crab bucket if we're not only pulling each other down but also telling other people that pushing us back in would be fine if we were a little closer to the top.

The last couple of chapters of Blades have been so good. From having a private, vulnerable moment with all of your friends, where they admit their feelings about MC disappearing and coming back, finally having Mal (who’s my LI) admit how he’s just been trying to run away from the pain of losing MC and that’s why he’s seemed so distant even after they’ve come back, because he hadn’t processed or accepted any of it but now he’s slowly starting to, to seeing the effect that being held captive for a year had on MC in the latest chapter, you can tell that the writers are going to explore the depths and character nuances of the storylines they’ve set up and having the story head towards the earned happy ending for the characters and relationships after watching the secrets, lack of communication and misunderstandings percolating for a few weeks has been very satisfying to me
