You! Name your favorite Link and say why he’s your favorite. (I say like I don’t already know XD, I’m just going around and asking all my mutual)
Aw fuuuuuuu… I mean, depends on the fic I’m writing? Let’s run with Sky, since it’s him for sure at the moment.
This’ll be a bit long.
I love how Sky had time to question who he was and actually find some answers. No one told him he had to be anything before Fi and Impa gave him a destiny. He just wanted to be his best self. Loves life. Deals with school issues. He’s got hobbies and interests like woodcarving and some mystery sport (soccer? Fencing? Bomb throwing? Loftwing quidditch? Who knows?!)
I love that he starts with a big surrogate family at the academy. They praise him because he’s genuinely a nice kid, trustworthy, hard working, strong and helpful. But they don’t dawn or anything. He’s chill. When he helps others, he also inspires those around him to be their best, like Fletch.
(TBH they kinda rely too much on him… or use him… *cough*Hylia*cough*)
He helps people all over the islands, even Pippit’s “lazy” mom and a creepy toilet ghost (moaning Myrtle, is that you?) All the Links help others, but he knows these people intimately, and the familiarity did not breed contempt.
He’s probably the most “modern” out of the Links. He has a comfortable life. And he left all that comfort behind to go explore the Surface, but not for curiosity. For his bestie! (He has the option of declaring his love for Peatrice too, so he’s got agency to keep it purely platonic, if perhaps secret for a while)
I love how loyal he is to Zelda as his best friend rather than as romantic partner or ruler, going up against the most insane and ridiculous odds. Like, I love my friends and family, but I’m not sure I’d deal well with having to face fire keese, bokos, F-ing Ghirahim (Noooope! I’m out!), let alone having to cut the goopy toes off a giant world-eating slithering black jelly bean just to save them. But he’s like “Yes, obviously I’ll do it! We all help each other.” (Communism poster boy. I will not elaborate)
He’s like the biblical Adam plus Samwise Gamgee. Like, “Oh you fell/need to go on alone? I’m coming with you!” And jumps. And then he finds out he actually can come back up, iirc. Instead of some flawed, fallen Eve character, he finds out his bestie is GOD. And she is just as self-sacrificing as him. (I love their story so much)
Back to Link. He’s got raw talent. (I know a guy in real life like him. He picks up skills quickly, so he’s bored in classes and falls asleep a lot. And he has a simmering rage deep down, that comes out to defend what’s his. As much as the game tries to frame this as a weakness, when they also give him prophetic dreams and a desire for not drawing attention to himself (bullies!) and a sweet but slightly jealous bestie, he’s got plenty of reasons to be sleepy. Nightmares, narcolepsy, staying up late to practice in private, limited downtime for hobbies… let the boy sleep in!
I love how expressive he is! Of all the Links, he’s the most emotive over things that are not food or treasure/items. I like to think he’s more emotionally mature and empathetic, and Jojo’s comic supports this. His first in-story action is to rush to help Time, who was speared, instead of attacking the monster. Later, he’s supportive of Wind’s enthusiasm when others tease him about the childishness of masks, and is the sweetest about teasing Legend for being a bunny. The man’s heart is gold, sturdy but soft too.
And his music! The boy rocks the harp. Musical prodigy too? Who has insanely good footwork and can balance on a tightrope and probably dances better than anybody in Skyloft if he wanted to?!? (No wonder Zelda is jealous.)
Oh, and Pippit calls his bird a red terror, so he’s probably gotten into some shenanigans with it growing up. The divine bird is a delightfully bad influence, and I love it.
I’m sure I could go on, but that’ll do for now. He’s a shield first and a sword second.

What do you do when you’re burnt out on fanfic? Like the characters just don’t feel the same to you anymore
I assume you mean writing fic, not reading? (For reading, I find that's the point at which I drift into another fandom).
It's...difficult, tbh. I am kind of in that place with TUA, too, and while I'm looking forward to the last burst of excitement with season 4, and that might reignite my desire to write endlessly about these characters, I suspect that my most passionate love affair with this show is winding down. I still adore it! But I'm not thinking about it 24/7, coming up with new meta, new fic ideas, things I simply HAVE to write...
I've never found a solution, honestly! I've been through a number of fandoms, and there always does come a point where it winds down, for me. I respect and admire fans who are still there, 20 years later, with the same passion! But that's not how I work. And it sucks, honestly. It also sometimes means that my fandom social life shifts - I will keep some of y'all, but eventually most people will find other shows to post about, as will I, and our paths will diverge. And I feel sad, and wistful, and a little autumnal about the whole thing.
It doesn't have to mean it's the end right now, however. Some people find a new spark in the same fandom - maybe that one fic idea that's just SUCH a challenge, SO interesting, that the fic itself grabs hold of you. Sometimes I find that I need to do something totally different - write in a different style, or create art instead, or...something, shake it up, whatever that means. Other people may have other tricks.
But on the whole, what I find is that I try to accept that it will simmer down, and that I won't finish every fic idea I ever had - and I look forward to whatever new and unexpected fandom will grab me in the future (and to having some downtime in the meanwhile, lol).
Sorry, that maybe got out of hand! I'm feeling some kinda way about the show coming to an end, I guess. XD To go back to your specific ask: sometimes I do a rewatch (because often I'm so caught up in fic or fandom that I forget where it all started, what made me love it in the first place). Sometimes I let myself start a new fic, something really super indulgent, the kind of fic that I most want to read but have been telling myself, nah, that's too much, no one will want to read that (don't listen to that voice, it's a lying liar!). Sometimes I go watch or read something else, and come back with a totally weird crossover idea (I don't really recommend that one, almost no one reads those). Sometimes I let myself just think about the characters, about something that's always struck me about them but that I've never quite pinned down and that I want to explore more in some way (usually fic, for me). Sometimes I just let myself stop worrying and go do something else, and if it comes back, it comes back.
I hope that's helpful - I'm not sure it is, but hey, the one thing I'm enjoying about TUA is that, generally, it's been a positive experience, and I am hopeful that we'll go out with a good and satisfying season 4. And we still have 6 entire episodes yet to see!
EDIT: Also - because apparently I have A Lot Of Opinions tonight - I find that it never completely leaves me. I care about all the shows I ever loved like this, I watch the new stuff the actors do (sometimes), I will read the odd fic, or rewatch an episode - or the whole thing - sometimes...I'm never going to completely lose TUA, and I will take forward some of the character beats and the ideas that I picked up from it, in some form or other. I may even get suddenly inspired, five years down the line, to finish a fic. XD So it's never wasted, it's all mulch to the creative mind.

just finished sonic prime s2! some quick thoughts below the cut before i go to bed (spoilers ahead!)
- i liked this season a lot! i think i preferred it to the last one tbh
- the characterisation of sonic and shadow was ON POINT!!!!! love how they're portraying shadow in this season, he so often gets flanderised and mistreated by writers that it's nice to see him depicted as a more nuanced character again. sonic is a charming little fellow as he was in the first season, in general this portrayal of him is one of my favs. and the dynamic between them is so good. sonadow was 12 year old me's first ship ever so my inner pre-teen is LIVING rn as you can probably imagine lol. even outside of that though they play off of each other very well and their interactions were a highlight of the season for me. also the moment where shadow was falling gave me SO MANY flashbacks lol, thankfully sonic caught him this time 🥺
- the animation was also at a very high standard as it was last season, sound design and music were great too. ik it's been said a million times before but i do rlly like how they animate sonic's ears perking up and flicking around like a real animal's ears, very very cute
- to expand on sonic's characterisation, i do think this is definitely one of my top portrayals of him in like....... anything. this sonic is very emotive and expressive and he obviously cares a lot about people, and yet he's not the most emotionally intelligent and often misses social cues because he's so tied up in his own thoughts and perceptions. he doesn't come across as rude or annoying or selfish though, he's just genuinely not the best at reading people or being able to think outside of his own perspective which, as an autistic person, i find very relatable. he's flawed in a very realistic way. i can sometimes find sonic a slightly grating or annoying character but this take on him is one i enjoy a lot, you can tell he means well and he wants to help and cares about things very deeply, which i appreciate a lot.
- i do hope that they're going to explore shadow's character more next season and i ESPECIALLY hope that they're going to play around more with the idea of him and nine being foils to each other. it seemed rlly clear that shadow's trust issues were meant to reflect/parallel nine's same issues and subsequent betrayal of sonic, it's an interesting touch to have them reflect each other and i rlly hope they revisit it.
- i rlly loved the black rose and rusty rose dynamic and interactions too and i also hope we see more of that next season. the roses should start a union
- now im gonna get onto the negative points sorry. ik ppl will hate me for this but i really don't like dread. he just feels like an unnecessary addition to the plot and whenever he shows up i just feel like "ugggh not this guy again". his design and character is cool in isolation and he has some great moments but overall im not a fan of how they used him this season
- i had the same problem with this season as the first which is that it felt like there were a lot of unnecessarily long repetitive fight scenes with very little plot. this is more of a subjective thing in terms of my personal tastes, but at times i found it pretty tiresome and would even start skipping the fight scenes lol. they just get pretty predictable and same-y and it feels like obvious padding to prevent the plot from advancing too fast and it just gets frustrating
- i would have liked for the characters to have had a bit more downtime to interact and stuff this season. it felt like a few of those endless fight scenes could've been replaced with some fun interactions but idk. ik it's a show for little kids so they want to keep their attention with Big Explosion so i don't blame anyone for doing it this way, but these are just my personal feelings on it
- in general it felt like the stakes were SO HIGH for the entire season that it stopped feeling exciting pretty fast. i think that interspersing the action with some down time would have made the action more meaningful. it kinda felt like after a while the stakes stopped meaning anything bc they just kept ramping up constantly
- that being said, the prismatic titan was SO COOL and i greatly enjoyed sonic's showdown with it, my inner 12 year old was going INSANE
- i think that dr deep came into his own as a character much more for me this season, he was rlly funny and a lot of the jokes landed with him pretty well
- chaos sonic was SO FUN it's a shame we didn't get to see more of them
tldr: it definitely has flaws but overall i had fun. excited for more rodents in the future........

I was lied to there wasn’t much info on the amol outline in the sanderson stream :/
- ‘fitting end that the aes sedai burn the dragon’s body’ I shan’t say anything to that comment except that his books are just as dismissive and contemptuous in their treatment of the aes sedai.
- why would you delete the scene where the girls made bridal wreaths for rand, hello??? there was enough downtime in the beginning of the book to work it in.
- egwene’s death still doesn’t make sense. it doesn’t read like a ‘natural point for her arc to end’. how is handing the baton over to an aes sedai who represents all the worst qualities of the tower a natural place to take the white tower reform plotline?
- KILLING AND BITING GIVE ME THE AMOL OUTLINE. one paragraph is not enough come onnnn.
- ‘physical manifestation of the dark that mat gave up’ (with reference to the shadar logoth dagger’s corruption) stopped being a thing in book 3 helloooo :/ I really am not a fan of the way mat’s connection to the dagger is brought up again in the last three books, because it seems to say that there’s an inherent darkness to mat (there isn’t). I also dislike the Turning process for similar reasons. anyway, the “inherent darkness” thing doesn’t work as effective foreshadowing for the padan fain conflict.
- also while we’re talking about foreshadowing, sanderson is too preoccupied with trying to foreshadow things that don’t need it. every minor plotpoint or detail doesn’t need precedent to work, tbh, but I suppose I can understand the instinct because he’s working with another author’s material and wants to establish some solid lore before moving on. it’s just that a good writer is capable of figuring out when and where to use foreshadowing, and in moderation.
- perrin is the problem for the rand/mat/perrin reunion never happening? mat is. he made plot choices that pulled mat away from rand and perrin despite rj’s notes instructing him to make mat collaborate with perrin.
- I think it’s obvious that if they’d ever met it would’ve been on the battlefield? why can’t he fathom this, lol.
- I loathe aviendha’s rhuidean sequence
- woah harriet used to mostly name the chapters even for rj’s books :)
- you did not have to insert the forsaken spanking scene even if RJ left notes for it but ok.
- he wouldn’t change mat if he was given a chance to retcon stuff... HUSH. go sit in the corner. I hate the mat of the last three books.
- you killed bela, brandon 😭
- elayne being characterised as some sort of power-hungry monarch trying to claim a village that she didn’t even know of is so annoying smh.
- I continue to be amused by the fact that rj left like two lines for perrin’s arc in amol
- okay when sanderson says that RJ co-opted finishing the story to exploring the world more in books 7-10, I agree so hard! And I loved those books anyway, despite their flaws (full disclosure but the thing that kept me reading the books was the world building when I started reading the series because the plot and characters didn’t really hook me until book 3).
- I’m glad for lanfear but generally indifferent to her fate, tbh.

hello everyone!! still… away LOL but ive been doing a bit of writing in my downtime hehe. i started working on a little backburner project and was wondering… would anyone be willing to help beta read for me?? ive had a few people beta read my fics before, but i always feel bad asking people out of the blue haha so i feel like if i threw it out there more generally then it’d be easier!! if you’re interested i’ll put a little bit of info below the cut! :D
Beta reading is essentially proofreading a fic! A beta reader is more casual than like… an editor! beta readers can check for grammar mistakes and such but its mostly just for if the fic sounds good or not haha at least thats how I understand it. If anyone’s up for beta reading i’m not expecting like… super serious edits with every sentence LOL just maybe a few notes~
The fic i’ve been starting a little bit on is… kind of loose lol there’s not too much plot it’s mostly just delving into some characters. It’s a modern AU ninjago fic (predictable, i know) and is essentially a slice of life fic where the main five all live in an apartment and go about life. Later on, they end up deciding to go on a road trip across Ninjago and thats where a lot of the character exploration comes in! I’m not sure if there’s going to be any shippy stuff in it tbh, mostly found family vibes but that could change depending on how it turns out!
It’s probably going to be a little boring since its so self indulgent but if anyone would be interested in beta reading (even just giving it a skim and saying whether its good or bad LOL) please DM me!! i’m currently working on standard notes since I dont have great access with mobile google docs, but as soon as I’m able I’ll send what I have so far your way! I currently have about… half of chapter 1 done, and so far my outline has about 3 chapters planned, its at about 1.3k so far! I’m expecting it to be a shorter multichapter fic, but if i end up starting to plan more than 10 chapters i will let yall know!! also note if you want to volunteer to beta read you dont have to commit to the whole fic LOL i am a chronic overwriter and love to include stuff that probably doesnt need to be there so it could easily get longer than expected quickly!! okay now ive rambled way too long hehe but if you’re interested pretty please dm me!!! :DDD thank you for reading all of this if you did fbhkdfsnjskd treat yourself to a cookie!
(note i can probably copy paste what i have into a google doc if anyone would like to read like… immediately LOL but it’ll probably be easier to just upload when i get back and when i have a bit more done i’m kind of jumping the gun a bit with asking for a beta reader now hehe im just excited. I should be back on april 8th but i’ll be severely tired and jetlagged so realistically i can probably get a good quality document by april 9th!! just a quick heads up lolol)

Hi I’m hoping that your match up’s are still open and if they still are can I request a match up with HSR men
I’m an INFP and I’m more of a quiet person when first meeting me. I’m more open to conversation depending on the topic at hand. But I’m mainly creative, supportive, loyal, honest, responsible (most of the time it’s only when it comes to my personal things), aggressive at times, stubborn, and a bit of an perfectionist. I can be mean at some times without realizing it but I apologize for my mistakes.
I like drawing, listening to music, skating, watching movies, writing, cherries, fashion, sleeping, rainy days, video games, marine animals, space, merch, plushies, snakes, horror movies, and sweaters
The things that I dislike are burn out, bugs, hailstorms, loud noises, bright lights (especially if they’re flashing lights), getting headaches, spiders, centipedes, overly sour food, rude people in general, people shouting as if I’m a child and loosing my headphones
Something that I look for is someone who has different interests than the ones I do. Someone who I can talk to and ramble about random stuff at any given moment as long as they’re okay with it. Also a man who is patient with me cause I do the most random shit at times with no explanation (for the time being) and is willing to help me out with things. I will fall and bend backwards for someone who has long hair and who’s somewhat taller than me. A love language that I prefer is physical touch and/or quality time.
Hopefully this wasn’t too much ahAh-
Notes: Hihi Cherrie anon. My matchups are open tbh I’ll probably keep it that way haha. I chose Cherrie as your anon because I too love cherries. Why Cherrie and not cherries? Don’t worry about that (*ฅ́ ˘ฅ̀*)♡– lol, hope you enjoy this matchup I have for you (´▽`♡)
P.S.: This song embodies what I imagine your relationship to be/sound like if that makes any sense haha ‹𝟹

✉⋆␥✦・♡・✦ ⚜ ˚。
I match you with: Argenti
Tumblr media
CC: dihcake on pinterest
✉⋆␥✦・♡・✦ ⚜ ˚。
During one of Argenti’s many perilous escapades through the vast universe, he finds himself in another less than ideal scenario.
Said scenario forces leads to him taking a much needed respite due to critical injuries.
He decides to spend said downtime exploring the planet he happened upon, which includes the residence and shops surrounding his temporary abode. He drifts off in thought as he takes in the scenery around him, which leads to a surprised shout leaving his lips when he unexpectedly bumps into someone.
Looking down, Argenti finds himself rooted to the spot.
You look up at him, similarly frozen in place.
The only thoughts running through your minds is how stunning the other individual looks. Your shocked expression morphs into one of embarrassment as you apologize for bumping into him. With a quick glance down Argenti spots the phone in your hand. He notes the device around your ears, clearly playing something for you to hear.
“May I ask what it is you’re listening to?” You’re a bit startled, having forgotten all about the device in your hands and the music playing in your ears, but you show your phone to him nonetheless. The name of the song and artist you are listening to appears on screen, and Argenti artfully raises an eyebrow.
“Huh. I feel like I have heard of this artist before. Do you mind indulging me for a moment?” You somehow manage to nod, still a bit starstruck by the tall, beautiful man standing before you. He carefully reaches over, extracting the device from around your ears. He places them around his own, closing his eyes for a moment as he listens.
You may or may not have been intently staring at him.
When he opens his eyes once more, he catches you, and you look away so fast he would’ve thought he imagined it if he didn’t know better.
“Why thank you, I enjoyed the small portion I’ve heard, I’m inclined to listen to more during my own free time. Oh, pardon me. How rude..” Argenti suddenly removes the device, delicately placing it back on your own head.
He bows elegantly before you, introducing himself as, “My name is Argenti, I belong to the Knights of Beauty. May this rose convey my heartfelt salutations.” He presents a rose to you, from thin air honestly, that you hesitantly take. “Should misfortune befall you, do not hesitate to call upon me. I will protect you. Please, may I have your name in return?” You gawk at the man before you, blinking owlishly before you offer him your name.
He suddenly stands, a radiant smile on his lips. “Splendid! Well, may we cross paths once more. Regrettably, I am to remain here for a few more days as my body is a bit worse for wear at the moment…” You eye him up and down. It’s hard to tell he’s injured with how he carries himself. Maybe he’s hurt under the armor?
Your curious eyes make Argenti a little shy, and he backs up. “Forgive me for parting with you so soon after our chance meeting. May the stars bring us together once more, for a harmonious reunion!” With that, the eccentric Knight of Beauty is gone just as soon as he appears, a trail of roses left in his wake.
You honestly believe yourself to have imagined the encounter, so you return home with a shrug of your shoulders, albeit the rose remains in your hands.
Lucky for you, the stars seem to favor you! You happen upon Argenti countless times, to the point he almost suspects you to be following him. Yet, he finds himself overjoyed to learn little tidbits about you as he slowly recovers his strength.
You two found yourself in a nearby cafe after a sudden downpour drenched the both of you. Luckily the owners were kind enough to lend the two of you a huge blanket to share, and with rosy cheeks the two of you sat on the cozy couch in the back of the store as a movie played on the screen in front of you. You were quite happy it turned out to be a movie you’ve been meaning to see.
You grow fond of Argenti through your many encounters with him, finding his indomitable spirit and noble personality quite charming and very heartwarming.
So it came as a surprise when he met you once more, for what he deemed would be the last time for a long time, as he bid you farewell. One his knees before you once more, he looks up at you with a heart stricken expression. Little did you know, parting ways was always a sorrowful endeavor for Argenti, but it never felt as harrowing as it did now.
He coughs, displaying awkwardness as he speaks. “It is my duty and destiny to traverse the universe alone. I’m sure our paths will converge once more. For Idrila, I–” You cut him off with a surprising hug. You understand. He opened up to you a bit, happy to share his many stories with you. So, you know how much the aeon of beauty and his duty means to him. You won’t stop him, albeit there’s a tightness in your chest as you squeeze him.
“Ok.. I understand. If we meet again, then surely it was meant to be. See you.. Argenti.” You quickly lean in, pressing a chaste kiss to his cheek before you move back. You almost want to bolt, but you don’t know when you’ll see him again.. Or if you will.
He gingerly touches the spot your lips previously kissed him with rose tinted cheeks. He smiles, sparkling and lustrous, before he spins around, running off.
It’s weeks before you see him again, but you do. Surprisingly.
He makes an effort to visit you as frequently as possible without derailing his adventures and interfering with his purpose. He finds a way, and soon, it becomes a common occurrence for you to open your doors to Argenti at random hours of the day, for him to take a few days to relax by your side as you enjoy the company that each of you bring.
You accept what Argenti does, happy and very supportive of him, yet your heart yearns for more. You keep those feelings to yourself to not bring him down, as you know this journey is one he must travel alone. Hell, he’s even told you as such on numerous occasions.
So, it honestly surprises you when Argenti returns to your side once more, except this time he’s all dressed up when you open your door. He’s on his knee once more, a bouquet of his hands, his intense gaze locked with yours as he awaits your response; he poetically asked if you’d be his.
You’re shocked, to say the least.
Yet it’s expected when you throw your arms around Argenti’s neck, effectively sealing the deal with a heartfelt kiss to his lips.
You find being Argenti’s partner to be a very endearing, but wholly worthwhile endeavor. He’s actually one for more simple gestures, finding joy in your ecstatic expression when he gives you an item of practical use. He absolutely loves cuddling with you whenever he returns to your side.
He’s missed you on his journey you know! He has to make up for the physical contact somehow. So, he finds a way to always be touching you, whether it be an occasional brush of your hands, or his fingers playing with yours as he sits across from you.
One of his favorite pastimes with you is when you’ll sit with him and just ramble about things that interest you, or things you want to get off your chest. He absolutely adores the quality time the two of you spend together.
Argenti is simultaneously the most impatient and patient man you’ve ever met. It’s weird, but you never feel rushed when he’s with you. If anything, he’ll emit an endearing sigh that says ‘Why am I not surprised?,’ before he finds himself dragged into one of your random escapades.
Even though the Aeon Idrila and being a Knight of Beauty still takes priority for him, you never feel less than or tossed to the side. You have his number, and the two of you constantly text each other. It’s cute, honestly.
Although, he can be a bit of a menace when he’s texting you, funny enough.
Anyway, I feel like this is obvious, but Argenti is head over heels as much, if not more, than you are for him <3
˚ :♡ ·˚ ₊˚ˑ༄ؘ
Loud knocking wakes you up out of sleep. You jump, scared for a brief moment before you recall the text Argenti sent you a mere hour ago. You scramble up from your seat.
You groan as you stretch; you must’ve fallen asleep waiting for him. Another knock reminds you that he’s still waiting for you to open it for him, so you quickly make your way to the door.
You swing it open, and before you stand Argenti.
Well, that’s what you thought you’d see.
Instead he’s knelt before you in casual yet equally formal attire, a bouquet of roses adorning his pretty hands. He’s looking down at his feet, even as he hears you open the door. “Ah, you answered.” You scoff at his ridiculous response. When haven’t you bent over backwards for this pretty man?
You open your mouth to say just that, but he speaks before you can. “My.. friend. I have immensely enjoyed the time I’ve spent with you these many months. Your ethereal smile is the finest gift to return to after the many perilous I have bore witness to. Excuse my brazen attitude as I may appear impudent, but if you’ll bless me with the opportunity to  show you how beautiful our profound love can be…” He sucks in a breath as he finally lifts his head, gazing deeply into your orbs.
He struggles to maintain his resolve, swallowing thickly as he racks his brain for the rest of the sentence he rehearsed to himself hours beforehand.
“Then I can experience the true meaning of beauty, for the rest of eternity, with the most ethereal individual I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know by my side.”
Stunned by his eloquent profession of love, you merely stare at him as your mind processes the meaning of his words.
So, Argenti just confessed to you…
that means..
he feels the same way as you?; Is your unrequited love and admiration not as unrequited as you imagined it to be?
Your heart pounds in your chest as you close your eyes momentarily, opening them once more to meet his passionate green orbs.
You take a sharp intake of breath as you calm your racing heart. Once you feel as composed as you possibly can, the words burst out of you like the words leave a raging gamer as they’re killed for the hundredth time by a camping enemy player.
“I'd love to be yours!, …if you’ll be mine in return.”  The sparkles in his eyes are almost blinding now, and he swiftly stands, pulling you into him as a deep kiss is pressed to your lips.
You smile into the kiss; his answer is indisputable, and your heart yearns to experience the many delights a relationship with Argenti is sure to include.
Fortunately, Argenti is more than willing to indulge you in such an endeavor.

Dedicated to,

mafia trilogy gameplay review
alright, here’s my full series review + my hopes for mafia 4 from a purely gameplay perspective (well, mostly).  fair warning, this is not entirely spoiler free and also long as hell–over five thousand words–so click read more at your own risk.
mafia tcolh
unfortunately i have not played the original (yet), so i can’t give a real review, but i have heard about the optional end-of-chapter missions from lucas bertone to unlock new cars and about the extremely detailed free ride, including enemies spawning across the city and the game saving your progress, which i think are great features that (presumably) allow you to take your time with the game and provide replay value that isn’t just doing the same missions over and over or pointlessly driving around.  it’s 21 chapters and i’ve heard it’s a pretty damn difficult game–player preference is gonna vary on that obviously, but overall i get the impression it’s meant to take some time to beat at least on your first playthrough.
mafia 2
coming in at 15 chapters (the first of which was the rather short and partly intended as a tutorial), it seems to be a significantly faster experience than its predecessor and it didn’t take me long at all to finish.  replaying has been a weird experience because i honestly don’t really even like a solid third of the chapters (1, 6, and the last three), but the game is near and dear to my heart.  while i have seen reports (and videos) of serious glitching, i never encountered any.  one note is that the lack of character tags in subtitles was annoying because sometimes it’s hard to differentiate voices (drunk eddie and joe is my biggest gripe).
open world & graphics: whether snow-covered in 1945 or sunny in 1951, empire bay is a truly beautiful city, the npc behavior is very detailed (which can make for some funny experiences if you notice it), and there’s generally a lot to do if you wander around, but the lack of a free ride mode and lack of downtime during chapters leaves little opportunity to actually do it.  i didn’t feel like i had much chance to explore or just hang out in the game world, and like i said before, the experience feels kind of rushed, especially on a replay where you know what’s coming next; i really wish we got more time in the 1945 segment because the winter atmosphere and freddy’s bar were really nice, and there was too little chance to experience them.  if you die at the end of a chapter while fucking around you generally have to replay the last mission, which seriously discourages exploration and is frankly a stupid feature.  there are diners, clothing shops, gun stores, auto shops etc around the city, which is really nice if you’re just hanging out, but i personally never found myself using them much (aside from the auto shop and clothing store once or twice apiece outside the prompts to use them in ch2 and ch7 respectively) because there just didn’t seem to be much time for it, and also because you lose all your stuff multiple times throughout the game, so it feels a little pointless (and it’s easy to accumulate guns from fallen enemies, but tbh i did that in every game).  i’d love to go see giuseppe or harry in my off time (which you’re clearly intended to do as there’s some secret dialogue), but there didn’t seem to be much off time.  overall, a lovely open world with detailed settings and interactivity that we had far too little chance to enjoy.  working mirrors, though!
combat: i appreciated the limitless gun arsenal (being able to carry both a rifle and machine gun was nice) but found switching weapons to be kind of clunky (unless i just suck ass at the controls), for some reason i felt significantly worse at shooting compared to MDE, and honestly the melee fighting sucked.  it’s extremely similar to la noire, so i guess maybe it was standard for the time, but it seems the strategy is to just hold down block at all times except when throwing a punch, and the fact you can end up just endlessly circling each other with nobody landing a hit both a) got boring real fast and b) ruined the immersion for me.  and no knives/bats/other melee weapons, really?  not to mention we only got one chance for stealth gameplay (ch3), and...tbh it just didn’t really do it for me.  it took me forever the first time because i took henry’s statement of “no killing” to mean i wasn’t allowed to do stealth takedowns either, but on a replay when i did stealth attack it was honestly a little too easy.  as for the healing system, as much as i love food in games, the “eat/drink to heal” and the way your health fills up significantly if you just wait a few seconds made healing feel like a non-issue for the most part; i joke about the floor sandwiches but i never actually found any, going to diners between missions to boost my health a little didn’t feel worth it ever (i only ever ate at the very end of chapters, basically), and mostly my strategy was just to duck and cover while i waited for vito's bar to refill.  i didn’t hate it but i think it could’ve been done better.
cars: they handled pretty well once i got the hang of driving, and the snowy roads handling different was nice attention to detail.  the customization was fantastic, and i have to say i love the garage system; it was really nice to be able to store cool cars when i snagged one off the street–and speaking of which, the lock-picking requiring effort was a bit of a pain but in a good way, so overall a nice touch.  the speed limiter was also helpful, especially for the bit with the cigarette truck.  no joke, i LOVED other characters (joe and henry mainly) whining about my driving (if anything it made me drive worse!)
police behavior: the lingering wanted status for both cars and people, while an absolute pain in the ass, added a lot more realism and tension.  having to sneak home after the jewelry store job was, though irritating as hell, exciting.  it also gives you more reason to use the clothing stores and auto shops.  was honestly kind of surprised this wasn’t in other games.  mostly i don’t remember the cops being too hard to get rid of, or having any other gripes about their programming.
hud: i hated the minimap honestly; it was hard to read, it didn’t show if enemies were on your level or above/below, and it didn’t show friendly npcs.  it also just kinda looked bad.  the health bar was confusing as hell at first too but i did eventually figure it out; it looked neat though and it didn’t take up much room.  overall the hud was kinda ugly but that’s just me.  i don’t recall if you can disable it (i never tried) but a quick google suggests no, at least not without mods, which sucks.
soundtrack/radio: fantastic.  lovely score though not my favorite (ending song was a gut punch, though).  wildly chronologically inaccurate licensed music, but most good fifties songs came out after ‘51 so i don’t care (hell, if they’d been accurate it likely wouldn’t have been distinct enough from the ‘45 songs).  the choice of scripted songs was very well done and the radio stations were very distinct–having djs with clear personalities was awesome.  introduced me to some cool songs (billy merman cover of 900 miles, my beloved) and the amount of little richard was much appreciated.  the radio ads were more tolerable than in m3, or i remember them that way.  wasn’t too fond of how, unlike the other games, the radio does NOT continue to play in big map screen and instead it plays its own, honestly very creepy map theme.  on an additional sound design note, the police sirens in this were really really eerie to me, which was neat.
dlcs: i have not played the dlcs and i don’t really intend to.  i’ve not heard good things about them and there was a huge lost opportunity for expansion upon the story, especially with the jimmy stuff (my gripe there is mostly that it’s a completely alternate universe).
final thoughts: overall, despite being evidently a fan-favorite nowadays, in my honest opinion i think it’s kind of the weakest of the (original) series as a video game (still one of my favorite pieces of media).  this has been largely forgotten and i was not at all involved in the series when 2 came out, but i’ve heard it was largely hated by diehard tcolh fans at first only to gain popularity later.  i truly loved the characters and the setting but i really wish we got more time with them, i wish so much content hadn’t been cut, and i wish it didn’t have that lingering unfinished feeling.
mafia 3
wildly different gameplay than the first two games, and while a lot of players hated that, honestly i loved it.  it was a lot easier to take my time with it, and while the missions could get a bit grindy (not something i personally minded, but compared to earlier games i see why it could be an issue), there were some cool locations and you could at least decide how you wanted to go about it, something made easier by the solo gameplay.  the more structured end-of-district missions were cool as hell, though tbh i don’t think i’d want it to be all scripted like that.  on the other hand, it did get very lonely at times with nobody to ride along you and chat during missions, something that became extremely obvious upon playing the dlcs where i had donovan & roxy with me.  i have experienced glitches with this one, a couple of which required restarting missions, but nothing truly game-breaking.  the fact it always turns off my subtitles when i first boot it up is irritating as hell though.  character tags for dialogue subs were nice.
open world & graphics: imo the best open-world hands down, it gave you so much room to explore and i love just existing in new bordeaux; feels like home somehow, at least for me.  the existence of the fuse boxes you wiretap and useful collectibles like the circuit plugs, tac vests, adrenaline shots, and random wads of cash (lol) in addition to a ton of purely aesthetic ones encouraged exploration even if you aren’t normally a collector (which tbh i’m not).  you’re getting on rooftops, on balconies, in alleyways, in stores and diners, in random people’s backyards and even houses; i’ve said it before but it appeals so strongly to my urge to get into shit that i can’t irl.  and don’t get me started on the boats, that rocked (i think more games should have boats).  the lack of stuff to do in stores (besides rob the cash register and maybe grab collectibles) was kind of disappointing, especially given i’d probably make way more use of them in this than in m2, but being able to visit the underbosses & lieutenants whenever still scratched the “go interact with people” itch, and the assistants (jb/betty/hank) you could call was a very convenient way of doing things.  i also appreciated the random npc conversations and the way npcs on the street will say things to you that sometimes lincoln will respond to (those quick exchanges like “how’re you doing?”) added a lot of atmosphere.  the districts had really distinct vibes not just in terms of architecture but also how the npcs looked and acted.  i appreciated the random enemies and allies hanging around, felt very dynamic.  a truly, truly beautiful game too, though the mirrors don’t work.  the weather system was also really nice, although i wish there was a way to sleep through nights/storms because they can be kind of a pain to fight in (or sleep till night, if you want to work under cover of dark); while we’re on the topic, the fact lincoln seems to (technically) stay awake for weeks on end does get real weird whenever i think about it; it also would’ve been nice to see food in game just for atmospheric reasons, even though i liked the health system as mentioned below.
combat: gunplay was generally satisfying and felt balanced, and while the inability to carry more than two guns (one big, one small) is a little annoying, it didn’t bother me all that much once i found ones i liked.  the stealth gameplay was hands-down my favorite; you had way more opportunity to do it, you could take on enemy territory as you pleased and find multiple ways into the target location, the survival knife tbh makes for some incredibly satisfying stealth kills, and the whistle feature is a godsend.  it’s also very fun to get a bunch of enemies all riled up and actively searching for you, if you want to give yourself a challenge.  the “q to punch, left alt to dodge” melee was far preferred to mafia 2’s mouse-clicking, as it made fights go a lot quicker and forced me to actually stay on my toes dodging (it’s harder and i’m worse at it, but it feels much more realistic and overall more satisfying).  intel view was much appreciated and is also closely tied to lincoln’s army background (and donovan’s bootleg cia setup, presumably), though i could see how it might arguably make things too easy.  personally i hate struggling to find enemies so i liked it.  the throwable weapons are fantastic (throwing knives and screaming zemis my beloved), loads of variety, though the knives are a pain to find again if you miss your target and i wasn’t sure how the hell to use some of the others (landmines, namely).  i fucking love that lincoln can swim; saved my ass a few times, and tbh i’d love more gaming protags who don’t insta-drown.  the alligators were a nice touch if annoying (i almost died to them a couple times lol).  as far as healing goes, the collectable adrenaline shots that you could administer in battle combined with the mild regen was nicely done and let you stock up before big fights; immediate healing saved my ass loads of times, and it was possibly my favorite way of doing things out of all the games.  the enemy (marcanos, dixie mafia, ensanglante) retaliation was also a very cool feature.  overall the combat was by far my favorite of the trilogy.
cars: the cars handled very nicely, the best out of the series imo, which i guess is a product of the 1968 setting.  the slow-motion driving, though i don’t use it much, has saved my ass a few times and let me pull off some neat stunts and is quite a unique feature.  there were some cool unlockable cars but the lack of customization for random ones off the street and lack of a garage system was pretty damn disappointing.  i didn’t notice if wet roads drove any differently than dry (i don’t believe so?) but it would’ve been cool if they did.  i got my tires shot out a lot which was irritating.  the rearview mirror was a nice touch but i do wish you could turn it off.  no speed limiter, i don’t think?
police behavior: the way police responded wildly differently depending on different neighborhoods was brilliant storytelling, and you could really tell the difference–you should’ve seen me trying to steal a car in frisco fields before i had the lockpicking perk, confident i could escape before the cops even showed up like i had in other neighborhoods, only to get instantly swarmed and have to tear out of there so fast i ended up wrecking the damn car (the air i caught before doing so, though–chef’s kiss).  now that’s variety baby!  hell, in frisco i kept getting random cops on my ass when civilians heard my gunshots during side missions, and they didn’t give up easy.  the fact that the blue attention arrow (you know the one i mean?) showed up regardless of whether they were after you or not was a brilliant bit of environmental storytelling that really drove home the fact lincoln was being watched even when he did nothing wrong.  the way it did search zones was well done too.  the lack of a lingering wanted feature, though it made my life a hell of a lot easier, is a bit unrealistic; might’ve been interesting if you only got it in high-cop-activity neighborhoods like frisco.  i appreciated the extent to which they search for you, as annoying as it was; it added drama.  absolute hell to ditch them in car chases though, which was noticeable considering the random mob/cult retaliation cars were usually fairly easy to leave in the dust.
hud: much preferable minimap to 2–it showed you if npcs were above/below you as well as showing allies in addition to enemies & cops, was easy to read, and also just looked nicer lol.  the health bar was extremely easy to read.  it would be real nice if you could disable the damn things without mods, though; sometimes a man wants to take a fucking screenshot!  overall, very legible if a bit bland.
soundtrack/radio: killer!  the score itself is gorgeous, and the collection of licensed songs is fantastic (i’m a huge sucker for ‘60s music though).  very careful attention to chronological accuracy, and the choice of songs during cutscenes and specific missions (del shannon’s “runaway” while escaping with álvarez!) was great.  all three radio stations had very distinct character; djs would’ve been nice but it’s not a huge gripe.  the station sweepers were cool but the commercials were annoying as all fuck.  the uncle lou ad going off air after you kill him was a nice touch (and a relief lmao).  the voice and remy had very well-written shows (like, fuck remy, but his persona was believable), but they ran way longer than my drives across the map so i ended up awkwardly waiting in the car to listen, then getting impatient and giving up–a downside of the lack of scripted driving.  “all along the watch tower” as a title song was a hell of a choice, and it worked.
dlcs: the dlcs were well-integrated into the story and gameplay, brought some really unique content without feeling too forced, introduced characters whose presence made sense.  they gave you stuff to do outside the main storyline that was really nice when i felt like dicking around without progressing the plot.  sammy’s bar renovations gave me something to spend my cash on, which honestly i haven’t used much otherwise.
final thoughts: gameplay wise, this one is definitely my favorite.  it’s been an extremely long playthrough (i haven’t actually done the absolute last mission yet) which has some downsides but overall was a lot more relaxed than the others and had much more room for screwing around, exploring, etc which was valuable to me.  i understand the gripe about no chapters (for series inconsistency reasons mostly) but personally it didn’t bother me and overall i absolutely don’t get the hate for it, mafia 3 is a great fucking game.
mafia definitive edition
twenty chapters long (combining two from the original), it was the first mafia game i played and has a special place in my heart for that reason.  i have some complaints, but i adored the game on my first playthrough; i’ve yet to replay but i’m considering.  not too quick of a playthrough, especially with that goddamn race.  in terms of mechanics it had a lot of similarities to mafia 3, since it used the same engine, so some of this is a bit briefer.  same as 3, it had character tags for dialogue subs, thank god.  i mostly didn’t deal with any glitches, except for one major one: the armored car section completely broke because of a graphics issue where the turret hitbox seemed not to register, so none of my shots landed even with aim assist; online advice said to fiddle with graphics settings, and turning off one feature (v-tuning? i forget the name) let me beat it almost instantly, but if i hadn’t known that it would’ve made that section literally unbeatable and the game unplayable, which is a pretty major flaw.  i’m not sure if it’s been patched yet but i sure as hell hope.
open world & graphics: the graphics and setting design are spectacular.  i’ll be honest, seeing the intro sequence for the first time damn near brought me to tears; it felt like coming home.  lost heaven is a beautiful city...with fuckall to do.  pretty much zero downtime during missions, combined with a free ride that had absolutely jack shit to do for kicks besides drive, antagonize pedestrians & cops, and those obnoxious herbert baskerville missions (i haven’t done much, but they really haven’t done it for me tbh) results in...a world you can explore, sort of, but it’s not even that enjoyable.  all those weapons in vinny’s workshop and nobody to use ‘em on–would it kill the devs to spawn a few enemies to fight?  or to let us explore inside mission locations? (which, btw, makes collections hell to complete because you have to replay whole chapters, and unless you’re a diehard collector probably isn’t gonna be worth it to most just for that).  or to even let me climb on stuff easier?  or to give us any kinds of shops, or food somehow, or have any characters besides ralphie (doesn’t talk to you at all), vinny (has like one or two lines), and lucas bertone (whom i visited loads because he actually talks)?  it was lonely as hell and driving around started getting depressing, as much as i enjoyed the scenery.  for a truly gorgeous, detailed, giant map (the countryside went on for miles!) they wasted it with no interactivity.  at least the random npcs will sometimes say hi to you like in mafia 3.
combat: gunplay was very easy to learn and very fun.  i’m not sure if this was specific to easy difficulty (it was my first game of the series and on an unfamiliar computer, give me a break) but there was a neat feature with the crosshairs where they’d turn red if you were on target to hit and form an x if the shot would be fatal, so i got real good at pistol headshots real quick (picked this up again in mafia 3 even without the red crosshair but struggled in mafia 2, so i suspect it’s partly a game engine thing).  melee was the same “q to punch, alt left to dodge” as mafia 3 that kept me on my toes, albeit a little clunkier given tommy isn’t a combat trained vet (nice attention to detail albeit potentially motivated by fan complaints toward previews), so i had fun with it.  knives and bats were nice but i found little chance to use them, knives especially.  the stealth missions sucked major ass (one you had to get right up behind them and one you couldn’t stealth kill–just for relaxation, my detested).  the healing system with the med boxes scattered throughout missions was pretty damn brutal and i got killed a lot (granted i was inexperienced so idk how i’d fare on a rerun), which definitely made me strategize, and honestly it helped balance out the easy shooting.  i’ve heard gripes it was too easy (aside from the fucking race!), and while i played on the lowest setting, i’m kind of inclined to agree, though i’d have to see on a replay on medium/hard.
cars: the driving, once i got the hang of it, was surprisingly smooth, though driving in free ride after i’d been playing mafia 3 was a trip.  some of those ‘30s cars handle like hell though (race car my detested), and one time in free ride i snagged a car in front of a cop just to see what he’d do...well, turns out it was a jalopy with a top speed of 41 mph, and he chased me down and shot me.  on the other hand, the hearse from the saint and the sinner survived me whipping off the top of a hill, slamming down through the trees, and crash landing in the airport parking lot to ditch the cops (wasn’t in good shape afterward, but she made it!) so make of that what you will.  i don’t recall a speed limiter either.  the motorcycles were fucking awesome.  all in all not bad.
police behavior: considering i’ve heard the cops in tcolh were absolutely brutal, comparatively this was a cakewalk.  they were a huge pain to get off my ass in certain chase sequences, but so long as i stayed out of sight especially when they were first called out, they’d give up way too easy, even on hard mode (something i tested pretty extensively in free ride).  lack of wanted feature was surprising to me even when i had yet to play mafia 2; i ended up ditching the hearse in the saint and the sinner before we got back into town, though that was as much about the fact it was slow as hell by then as getting recognized (but still).
hud: similar to mafia 3, especially the minimap, which honestly looked even nicer tbh.  very legible, and afaik you can disable it easily (photomode).  no complaints here.
soundtrack/radio: absolutely beautiful original score; the main theme will genuinely never cease to haunt me and is pretty much without question my favorite original song of the series.  i’m not huge on thirties music so nothing stood out to me as far as licensed songs, but it was a nice and very atmospheric collection.  the radio stations felt much less distinct but the berringers commercials were funny, and overall the ads weren’t annoying at all really.  the news breaks were pleasant and well-timed.  i don’t actually know if djs would’ve added much here, really.
dlcs: besides a few outfit/car packs?  there are none!  for fuck’s sake, h13.
final thoughts: a gorgeous and very fun game that could stand to let the player breathe a little.  cutting the lucas bertone end-of-chapter optional missions (and adding the cars to free ride instead) was a mistake, because that would’ve given the player a chance to fuck around in-chapter, especially given free ride is so damn empty.  overall, despite its flaws, the game is a generally well-paced experience that i really enjoyed.
mafia 4: my hopes
i expect it’ll be chapter style like 1 and 2, rather than more open like 3; i don’t really care either way but slightly more structure might be nice.  i do hope it’ll be on the longer side (longer than 2, at least) but...i don’t know if i expect that.  that would also mean more of a wait till it comes out but that’s probably worth it.  here’s hoping they put character names in dialogue subtitles!
open world & graphics: good visual design (given the quality we’ve seen, i’m not at all concerned) and interactivity.  give us shops, give us random npcs that engage with the player (the “how you doing?” went a long way), give us chances to talk to side characters, give us the ability and reason to go get into shit like in mafia 3.  give us FREE RIDE with stuff to do (enemies to fight and locations to explore, namely) that isn’t horribly lonely and limited, and give us time to screw around in the main story (specifically, let us end chapters at our own discretion like mafia 2 rather than automatically like mafia DE) that won’t result in having to restart stuff if we die.  honestly i much preferred the integrated free ride style of mafia 3 though i have no expectation of that again given i seem to be very in the minority there–but please, i want a good balance of plot progression and messing around.  oh, and let me climb on things.
combat: unlimited arsenal would be nice, so long as switching isn’t clunky, but i wouldn’t mine the 3/DE style of one big gun, one small; so long as the gunplay isn’t totally fucked i don’t really care.  i am however begging for melee in the style of mafia 3 & DE and not 2–make us block on the spot and not just hold it down, that shit got so boring so fast.  i’m also desperate to see mafia 3 style stealth, especially enemy searching, the whistle feature, and knives.  pleeeease give us melee weapons and the chance to use them.  intel view or similar would be nice but is very character specific so i have no hopes of it and i’m fine with not getting it.  i’d love for there to be some kind of food in game (at least alcohol like in 2), but i’d rather a healing system closer to mafia DE or mafia 3–or if they do food, at least make it easier to find during levels or able to be carried with you.  and let us swim, dammit!  unless it’s set in los ondas and there’s no water, but still.
cars: i’m leery of these 1920s automobiles having shit cornering and top speeds, but if they handle like mafia DE’s cars did, i’m fine with it.  rearview mirror (disableable!) and speed limiter would be nice.  and give us motorcycles!  and boats, if applicable.  mafia 2 style garage system and customization please for the love of god.  and other characters bitching about our driving!
police behavior: lingering wanted feature on cars/players (especially cars), and differing police response based on neighborhood.  more intense search for suspects.  don’t get so pissy over traffic offenses.
hud: legible, detailed, and disableable.  show us allies and give us the hollow icons if npcs aren’t on the same level as the player.  and make the health bar easily readable for the love of god.
soundtrack/radio: my hopes are not particularly high for the licensed songs given it’s almost certainly a 1920s setting (i’m still bitter about that ‘70s soundtrack we aren’t getting, and also i’ve had a very hard time finding pre-1930s music in the past), but here’s hoping we get a good original score and distinct radio stations.  djs would be nice.  i do have high hopes the newsbreaks and ads will be pleasant this time.
dlcs: hard to predict or hope for anything when we know basically nothing of the game, but i hope we actually get at least one (hopefully more) and i hope they’re well-integrated like mafia 3’s were.
final thoughts: i kind of doubt we’ll get this, but put goddamn subtitles on ALL speech, not just the main dialogue.  radio announcements?  subtitle it.  random npc chatter in the background?  subtitle it.  stack them and make the less important ones slightly smaller if there’s cross talk (hell, especially subtitle things if there’s cross talk), but for fuck’s sake it’s basic accessibility and the fact i never see this done irritates me to no end.  also, i really hope we see food in game.  doesn’t even have to be for health reasons i just want my little pixel buddy to eat.  and let me sit down, sitting down should be in more games.  and also, please for the love of god don’t have loads of timed missions; i don’t think it will given we haven’t seen a lot of them besides the joe’s adventures dlc, but just in case.

💕 + your p5 s/i? :3c (i am predictable-)
(@justice-confidant)
s/i lore time // @justice-confidant
!!! ohh yes icarus i have so much lore on her so im sorry if this gets lengthy
ok so to start she’s one of maruki’s old college buddies they had classes together since they were in the same major. maruki was actually her first friend then it morphed into a crush on him despite watching him and rumi grow closer so she more or less kept her feelings for him hidden focusing on her work to get her degree to become a therapist. later on during the timeline of the game maruki actually ends up reaching out to her offering her a position as his assistant at shujin and she jumps at the chance since she gets to do what she’s wanted to do all along, help people with their problems (being able to work and be with maruki is just a nice little bonus)
she actually has an arcana of her own for akira to be able to become confidants with her. she represents the charity arcana representing altruistic love, giving and mercy, and reaching out with compassion to strangers to form friendships.
oddly when it comes to the phantom thieves she’s able to make them more comfortable about opening up to things better than maruki is so usually if they have an appointment they usually choose her
she also spends most of her downtime in Leblanc and that’s how she ends up becoming close with akechi and probably by extension once she becomes more comfortable with going outside, futaba
if the right conditions are met in game she’s actually able to join the phantom thieves asking akira before he leaves for maruki’s palace to come along. she came to the conclusion something was off long ago and figures she knows who’s behind it. she actually has her awakening when they first begin exploring gaining the persona, Morgan. Her phantom thief attire is extremely witch inspired since her base persona is based off morgan le fay mostly clad in blacks with dark green accents. her main skills when starting out are healing and curse skills and her weapons are a boline and muskets. later on in her second awakening Morgan morphs into Circe. And her final awakening Circe changes into Elphaba
she more or less tries to slap some sense into Maruki when she first sees him again considering what he’s doing is not right despite his good intentions. it’s a little bit tense and angsty too since now that he has control over mementos he has known for a while about her truest wish: to be with him. I like to think there would some sort of battle confrontation about that.
I haven’t figured out exactly what they would be yet but she’d definitely have showtimes with some of the other thieves im still trying to come up with concepts tbh
I feel like at the end after maruki is defeated that they’d probably tentatively start seeing what it would be like for the two of them to date, maruki actually taking the step to move on from rumi. also she definitely ends up becoming shujin’s permanent counselor after the events of the game

hiya, artist here! hehe your kind words totally made my day LOL
love love ur fic a lot, and I may? make more fanart in the future since Choi Eunbyeol is a blorbo from my shows now (and I get to practice stuff lmao)
ur prose is so good! very rare to see an author with both strong prose, strong characterization and good dialogue. ur YJH is on point and honestly I like that ur fic is a little slower paced than the original orv novel (since there was so little downtime it didn’t let the author explore the characters that well). the dream sequence with Eunbyeol’s original regression? chef’s kiss. amazing scene. Anyways bye.
!!!!!!!! AA!!!!!!
thank you so much oh my word my goblin is someone’s blorbo thats the highest honour holy shit!!!!! i am absolutely going to keep an eye open if you make more fanart in the future and i hope i can get more updates out for you too because the dream sequence is going to be a hell of a plot point in coming chapters!!!! the downtime is what i like writing the most tbh because these fools gotta rest and we all know some quality Bonding is going on when they rest haha
when this hell week of work is over im gonna go ballistic on the next chapter i swear!!!

“Well, I have to agree with Melly on that one,” Daisy said. “My mom used to say I was drinking cream.”
“Maybe you should listen to her more,” Diana laughed.
Daisy pocketed their phone, slipping it into their jacket pocket. “Mm,” they vocalized. That was another thing they had in common with Melly: noncommittal sounds and avoiding answers. Maybe it was a young people thing.
“Aren’t you going to eat anything?” Diana didn’t press the issue. She wasn’t Daisy’s mother, so she had no place berating them.
           “I had coffee?” Daisy suggested.
Diana peered at them over her glasses. It was a warm day for mid-November, when the sky was heavy and wet, lacking all trace of the biting tang that indicated incoming snow. Even so, Daisy wore thick, baggy clothing, clearly layered as though going skiing. They had neglected to wear a scarf, so their neck was exposed.
A neck like that would be easy to snap, a twig underfoot.
“Eat,” said Diana, pulling out a paper-wrapped egg cake. “You need to eat breakfast, you know. I brought some bao, too.”
“You didn’t have to,” Daisy protested, but their eyebrows shot up, and their eyes widened.
“Your eyes are all golden,” Diana said in Cantonese.
Daisy eagerly pinched the corner of the pastry Diana held out and peeled the paper off. She tore off chunks to pop in her mouth. “Mmmm, I haven’t had these cakes since…” they stopped talking to chew. “Hm, not sure when,” they finished.

Mendendam unggas liar di hutan Jalan yang tinggal jangan berliku Tilamku emas cadarnya intan Berbantal lengan tidurku
When I tell you my hand was only half-prepared for the hell Lightbright put it through, but worthit tbh! I don’t have a major 2,000 words essay for this sweet lass, but here’s some information for her!
Between the three ladies who left Caminus to make contact with earth, she’s definitely the Beauty of the bunch (Windblade being Brains and Chromia Brawn) and is practically the gem of her community/clan.
Almost a jack of all trades. She gets those toned arms from farmwork (her people, the Orang Minang, are agricultural specialists on Caminus). She’s also an accomplished silat practitioner who incorporates her moves into dancing, a singer and has an semi-intuitive skill for Cityspeaking/coding (whereas someone like Windblade relies more on study/practice).
However she’s not entirely happy with her role! Her people are the largest matrilineal society in the world, and the custom of ‘merantau’ (something close to a walkabout to seek experience, wealth or commercial success), commonplace for men back then, was carried over to Caminus---women would inherit and guard property (ensuring that they were always taken care of if their husbands died) while men would often go offworld to explore the solar system for new sources of precious material or as interplanetary freight workers. Her clan in particular is a major player in Caminus’ carefully-tended agricultural sector, to the point where it might collapse if they pull out, and while they are very proud of their talented ‘princess’ and her passion projects, they also expect her to take on the role of a matriarch and inherit/guard the properties that were passed down and help run the sector as its future head.
Which clashes with her personal wish, because as proud as she is of the women in her life, she wants to explore the stars like her father did and still does (as a child, she was always excited for the weekly com call home and would ask him 1001 things about what the universe was like, what the stars looked like from where he was from, whether she could come with him on his next trip. The answer was always a gentle no, because she had so much riding on her as the only daughter)
Her grandmother threatened to disown her when she made the decision to follow Windblade on a mission to earth (merantau, in her words), but her mother supported the idea and she promised them that she would come home to them once she saw the world beyond what Caminus’ protective, insulated domes (TTB Caminus is situated on Venus and is a massive floating sky-city as the planet at ground-level is too volatile for any structure) had to offer.
She’s a hopeless romantic who loves reading Harlequin novels in her downtime, and the most naive of the three given her sheltered upbringing and the adulation Camiens have for her as their nearly unattainable songbird. Zero street smarts and initially not a good judge of character.  However she’s also the friendliest of the trio, as well as the one with the most faith and ability to see the best in others.
Lodestar becomes her titan (which her grandmother commissioned for her when they reconciled) when she returns home and becomes Caminus’ new ambassador.
Her human name, Laila, is of interest because Malaysian songs make PLENTY of mention of a Laila in them (Mimpi Laila, Kasihnya Laila, Lagu untuk Laila, etc). Initially I chose it because of this, and because most of these songs paint Laila as this ethereal, unattainable figure, and then I find out that it’s actually referring to an old Arabic story of Layla and Majnun, which is similar to Romeo and Juliet (no poison is involved, but the man does go mad in the end, hence why ‘majnun’ is interchangeable with ‘madness’ in our vocab). Given Lightbright’s eventual relationship with Sparkstalker, a Decepticon,  it definitely seems like a human name tailor-made for her!

Saimota is a fantastic ship that only improves with age and their respective maturity. Right from the get-go we see this in canon, too! They have a tumultuous first clash at the end of chapter 1 which is immediately turned on its head, and the subsequent growth and development of their in-game relationship really stands out that much more because of it.
This is a long one, so strap in!
Kaito realizes his mistake in his approach after punching him the night before and rectifies it immediately the next morning when he notices Shuichi hasn’t come to breakfast, rightly guessing that he’s stewing in his own grief and misery. And then, being the emotionally intelligent guy he is, he follows up that night and drags him out to exercise (which, y’know, releases endorphins and is scientifically proven to help with mood boosts and even depression) - a move which Shuichi says in chapter 5 saved his life.
A couple days pass and a body drops. Kaito supports him through the investigation knowing that Kaede had been with him last time and that there’s a danger of him relapsing. In the trial, too, Kaito makes every effort to let Shuichi know that he isn’t alone and someone does have his back if he fumbles. This is the real moment that Shuichi chooses to depend on Kaito and is rewarded for it, and while Kaito does get plenty of ego-feed out of it, he believes in Shuichi and his talent wholeheartedly (enough so that it’ll come back to bite him later). But despite it being framed as a ‘hero and sidekick’ relationship, it’s not just for Kaito’s self-worth - it’s to take some of the mental load off of Shuichi, who really, really doesn’t want the pressure of everyone’s lives solely on his shoulders, and is now dealing with the guilt of two cases where uncovering the guilty party hurt him.
(quick chapter 2 interlude! while this is where a lot of the big hero-worship begins for Shuichi and happens to be where I also did his first FTE and got to witness this:
Tumblr media
this is also the chapter when these moments happen, post-breakfast and post-casino scene respectively:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this happens in the very next FTE:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
mmm yes, the duality of man. Suffice it to say, while Shuichi has definite rose-coloured glasses on for a lot of the game, Kaito is definitely not an invincible, untouchable hero in his eyes)
Interestingly enough, despite Shuichi still very much leaning into their friendship (and vice versa), they don’t spend a lot of time together in Chapter 3 after he brings Maki out to training that first night! While Chapter 4 is their real ‘break’, Kaito spends a lot of time in his room in the second half while Shuichi gets to know Maki better. And while Maki is a much, uh, meaner investigation partner (love you girl, but that tongue is sharp), they make a great team. Shuichi also starts poking at Kaito’s reason for holing up in his room, incorrectly guess that it’s just related to the occult being brought up. Most importantly, Shuichi is able to do an investigation on his own independent of Kaito just a week after the end of Chapter 1.
Chapter 4 and its immediate aftermath in 5 is great because it showcases Kaito’s flaws and insecurity, and what conflict between the two of them look like. It’s because Kaito respects Shuichi so much that cracks in his own confidence start appearing - and while Shuichi can be obtuse and awkward at times, he shows signs of wanting to broach some more sensitive topics with Kaito; if you do FTEs with Kaito in Ch 4, he even has an inner narrative in which he notes that Kaito had said his stomach hurt before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s not so self-absorbed as to not worry about his friend (but narratively we gotta save that juicy plot point and subsequent reveal for the end of the trial) but hey, Kaito wants to chill and just shoot the shit - so why not have some downtime with his friend in the murder school. Btw, their FTE availability ends here - so if Shuichi has completed them with Kaito, he’s already had his canon-saimota thoughts at this point. While I have given Shuichi the side-eye for his ‘I can rely on Kaito for anything’ spiel, he is fully able and willing to stand up to Kaito in the Chapter 4 trial despite his canon feelings for him at that point. By the way, it’s been a week and a half since the end of Chapter 1 at this point. Shuichi and Kaito have had an arc together where they become fast friends in a pressure-cooker situation and bonding over shared grief for Kaede (even if Kaito’s is less obvious), Shuichi starts as dependent on Kaito’s emotional support but learns to stand on his own two feet, and Kaito is forced to confront his own weakness and hero persona, all while classmates are dropping (including Kaito’s own ex-hero figure, a stark reminder that ‘heroes’ do have flaws).
So the beginning of Chapter 5 is wild to me because of how it’s so often misinterpreted as Kaito immaturely giving Shuichi the silent treatment despite the entirety of the game preceding it explicitly showing that Kaito will tell you, loudly, when he’s angry at you, and that’s purely because we’re in Shuichi’s perspective and he thinks that’s what’s going on - but that’s a bit of a tangent. What I like about it is how we get to see what happens when Kaito (as sick as he is at that point) feels badly and embarrassed with someone he is close to; he withdraws as opposed to lashing out. And while Shuichi is really, really bad at reaching out too without an inciting incident (tunnel escape), he does try and broach the topic when push comes to shove. He’s not lost in hero worship, not even close - he is rightfully upset that the person he’s closest to at the school is upset while still maintaining to himself and the others that his actions were correct. He doesn’t waver on this, despite his attempt to offer an olive branch at the window of the hangar’s bathroom. He truly stands by his own choices in the last class trial and know he won't back down on that if push comes to shove, and that's important - he won't yield the point just to appease Kaito. Shuichi then manages the investigation on his own, leads the trial on his own, faces off with Maki (and who he thinks is Kokichi) on his own, because he has *reached* a point where he can be independent. And to bring it back to how we get a look at ‘saimota in conflict’, Shuichi and Kaito both make amends with each other by the end of the chapter. Even if it’s spurred by it being their final goodbye, Shuichi gets to say his piece, Kaito lays out one of his own vulnerabilities so he can make peace with Shuichi - and even if I’d love to have had them delve into all of Kaito's various issues, there is a very murderous robobear overseeing this which makes time a factor - and I firmly believe that if they had more time, they could’ve resolved even more of the issues that would come up for Saimota. The groundwork wasn’t just there; there was already half the structure in place. And that’s what makes saimota even more appealing to me, tbh. We get to see them build a relationship, run into a big issue, struggle through it and resolve it by the end of the game - and it means that there’s precedent for them to do it again as more interpersonal challenges come up! It’s a goldmine of ship exploration, and they care about each other enough to work through it.
… By the way, at this point they are 2 weeks past the end of Chapter 1.
Imagine if they had more time. Imagine if Shuichi, who is absolutely dogged in pursuing an issue once he catches wind of it (despite how he can get wrapped up in his own head), who cares a lot for other people, who doesn’t just find runaways as part of his detective talent, but follows up with them after because he cares about more than just finishing the job, had the chance to spend years with Kaito and realize he uses his hero persona to protect a much more fragile sense of self. Imagine Shuichi forming that initial friendship with Kaito without the albatross of Kaede’s death hanging around his neck; about how he’ll still look up to Kaito and his fantastic positivity, passion and excellence in his chosen field, and that would only be matched by Kaito’s own admiration of Shuichi’s skills as a detective. Imagine if Kaito, who repeatedly shows the ability to reflect and change his mind when presented with evidence against his viewpoint and was able to express his own insecurity and jealousy to Shuichi in the end, was given the breathing room and space to get more comfortable with doing so. Imagine how difficult and emotionally mature they were to navigate as well as they did in a life-or-death situation that took place over a couple of weeks tops, and how much more they could grow if given the time and space for it.
... And this was nearly going to be where I ended the post, until Ira reminded me of TDP and sent me this wonderful Saimota event (which takes place before the final graduation/training trio event):
Tumblr media
Oh hey, Shuichi picked up his catchphrase! It's quite cute how he's finishing Kaito's sentence here - he's spent a couple of years being friends with Kaito at this point, and has even taken up exercising on his own for stress relief. I wonder whose influence that was?
Anyway -
Tumblr media
Shuichi has figured out at this point that he does need to firmly extend that helping hand to Kaito rather than worry and keep it to himself. On the other side, Kaito has learned that it is okay to accept that outstretched hand, even if he doesn't need it right now - that he can admit that some day, he might. He's being blase, sure, but it is a far cry from his in-game 'I don't/won't need help'. Good for you, Kaito - you've grown a lot! And that's the most important thing their TDPs show - their capacity for growth not just as individuals, but in a relationship. Of course there will be bumps along the way - it’s very rare that any relationship won’t have them! - but they've proven that they can work these problems in the worst of circumstances. This is by far one of the strongest ships with canon foundation in the entire series, and my goodness do I still love it years later.

Note
since it is pride month, (unless you did something similar already that i haven’t seen) can i request the crusaders with a reader who is questioning their sexuality? because there’s times i feel like i could be one sexuality but then i completely questioning myself. like i am know i am not straight but i don’t know what my sexuality is (if this makes you uncomfortable, you can delete it!) please and thank you!
Stardust Crusaders comfort a Questioning! Reader
Of course! I always end up questioning myself around pride and I hope you're doing okay! There's no rush when it comes to finding a label that fits you or if you want to go by a label at all. Sometimes finding your sexuality takes some time and that's okay! <3
Jotaro Kujo
He'll always be there for you and support you
I don't think Jotaro would give the best advice, but he does give out a safe environment to be in
He's patient with you and would be open to listen to your concerns about what you're attracted to
If anyone was giving you shit for it or putting too much pressure on you to just move on about it, he'll be by your side
Noriaki Kakyoin
Maybe the 2nd go to person when it comes to advice like this
Not the best at advice and a bit awkward with comfort, but he'd try to make you as safe as possible when discussing this
I could see his advice coming from his own personal experiences and how he dealt with his own self discovery
I think a key to stuff like this is a healthy backbone of supporters and he'll absolutely be one for you
Jean-Pierre Polnareff
I see Polnareff as a man who is very open when it comes to his love and sexuality, not really paying any mind to any kind of labels
If you were to tell him about questioning your sexuality, I think he would encourage you to experiment with it
Especially when you're traveling around with the Crusaders. It's an easy way to have a no strings attached fling with anyone in your downtime
Hell, I think Polnareff would join you in your little search at bars or something
Mostly to help you ease your nerves and to be a wingman if necessary
Muhammad Avdol
Avdol would always be the number 1 person to go to for any kind of advice
And questions about your sexuality aren't any different different
He has plenty of books surrounding this kind of topic that he'll pick from and give to you if you're struggling
Plus he does have his own experiences with his sexuality and would remind you that it's normal for a lot of people to go through this
Bonus: Oldseph
He has that supportive dad energy we all need tbh
Plus he isn't a stranger to exploring his sexuality as well
He'd tell you about his younger days where he'd experiment with his friend Caesar. That people have been doing this kind of stuff ages ago, that you aren't alone in this
Joseph has a very welcoming energy and can lighten up the mood to ease any worries you have about this topic
He'd always remind you that whatever you end up identifying as, he'd always be proud of you

In Loved Lived Lost you mention rivusa having kids.... Expand? I remember it was two girls, right? What about boys?
Hi love!
So the two girls in that story are actually Flora and Helia's baby girls! Rivusa does not have any children at that point though truth be told I've always thought that Riven would be a girl dad (and he would proudly love it). Though if they do have a son it would the one, and he'd be an accident. I kinda explore that in my fic The Last Goodbye (Yes shameless plug).
He'd raise his girls to be kick ass just like their mom and whats more I think while it be embarrassing for him I think by the time he's oldest is about to go to Alfea (college not HS, I only write these guys as college kids every) He'd kinda fess up to all his mistakes. Enduring the humiliation to be a cautionary tale to his kids.
I think Musa will also be a very cool mom and at point she'd feel like Riven is one of the kids. But I think she'll be equally as fun. I think out of the friend group being on of the few couple with no royal connection I think their kids will have much more downtime with their parents. And despite not having castles I think the kids of the group in general will prefer hanging out at Rivusa's house because its so much more low key and chill. @lilshitwayne has heard me fangirl over her fic How the night changes because she's setting up the next generation beautifully and I have so many feeling about them.
Im actually really proud of Loved, Lived and Lost tbh and it warms my heart that you guys enjoyed it too! I love the idea of second chance romance and as a fan of the OG, first four seasons really, I had high hopes of the show separating Musa and Riven and allowing them to grow before bringing them back together.
I think in life generally timing plays a huge role in all relationships and you can definitely meet the right person, at the wrong time. and sometimes just sometimes life gives you a second chance and other times, you have to take a chance and work toward a second shot.

[ HUGO BHAER. 30. CISMALE. HE/HIM] is here! They’ve lived in Silver Lake for [ 2 WEEKS ] and are originally from [ BERLIN, GERMANY ]. They are a [ PHOTOGRAPHER ] and in their downtime love [ EXPLORING ] and [ BEING ENTIRELY TOO PRETENTIOUS ABOUT COFFEE ]. They look a lot like [ LUKE PASQUALINO ] and live [ IN OASIS APTS ]
hey y’all i’m drew and this is hugo and we are a lil late to the party, but pls hit me up and lets talk/plot.
first off, hugo from europe and new in town and knows exactly one (1) person in LA. but he really likes making friends and meeting new people, so it’s fine
he is german and italian (heavily by way of france) and he is fluent in four languages and speaks english with an english/UK accent
he has three sisters who are scattered about the world and he loves all of them very much but they are all VERY different - phrase heard very often from him: yeah cool my sister is into that
has a decent relationship with his dad but they are veryyy different. has a rock relationship with his mom but is very much like her (he admits with chagrin)
L O V E S to travel. spent some time after leaving school traveling and couch surfing. it’s how he got into photography. he’s published a coffee table book of photography from that time. nowadays he does whatever freelance work he can to get by - he’s been fortunate enough to be able to get a few magazines regularly purchase his work
he is in LA because he actually agreed to participate in a collection piece for a gallery - he has usually balked at the idea because he pretends to not be pretentious (spoiler alert: he lowkey is pretentious), but it was an exciting project he couldn’t pass up - plus it is stable income for nine months so there’s that
totally the creative type and 1000% here for the aesthetic~
book nerd, especially philosophy. he’s the guy who will spend hours in coffee shops discussing humanism, political theory, the meaning of life, etc etc etc. he is also very well read thanks to his oldest sister who basically taught him everything he knows
hugo is a mega minimalist - legit his apartment has a couch, a bed, and a tiny kitchen table and barely anything else. if he can’t fit it in two boxes and a duffle bag, he doesn’t need it.
amazing cook, but it’s rare for him to show off his skills to other people. someone has to be very close to him for him to cook for you.
but he will make you a cup of coffee that will change your life
doesn’t like small talk, but he is extroverted and really likes meeting new people and getting to know them. he’s the kind of guy who will never forget an old friend, and regularly skypes with his friends from across the world
hugo is not really arrogant or a narcissist, but he can come across that way. he’s working on it. tbh he’s the guy who would do anything for anybody, you just gotta get past the tough exterior
but also he’s a little bit of an asshole, so you can’t hang unless you can take some dry humor and offhanded sarcasm at any point
this is still a rough draft FOR SURE but that’s the basics and i would love to talk through some ideas with anyone. you can hit me up here or my discord thedrewdawg#1337
