#but I have to see whether it is justifiable
Note
so im 99.999999% certain this is bullshit but i just came across an app called calmara which markets itself as a sexual wellness tool for women where you can send in a photo of your partner's genitals as a "peen check" to see if they have STIs.
im not sure if it only works on penises, but it apparently uses kind of AI algorithm to check for the STIs. apparently the algorithm can identify more than 10 STIs in 60 seconds with an accuracy of 96%.
again, 99.99999% that claim holds the same amount of water as a bone dry desert but im not a sex witch so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
the app itself has ethical issues abound but im curious as to whether theres anything to that claim.
here's the thing:
even if we overlook that it's extremely weird for an app to ask for pictures of people's dicks and that that's just a shitshow re: privacy
and even if accept that this app can, somehow, successfully identify visible symptoms of sexually transmitted infections without being fooled by normal variations in genital appearance
we're still left with the fact that even low estimates hold that around half of all people with STIs have no symptoms, and that the genitals are not the only place that can be infected by many STIs. several common infections can be transmitted by having oral sex with someone with an infection in their mouth and/or throat. it sounds like this all is only going to catch the most egregiously visible genital warts or herpes sores, which you could likely notice yourself anyway.
so, you know. wildly incomplete information, certainly not useful enough to justify how dodgy to be collecting pictures of people's junk.
bonus round: this quote from the CEO and co-founder that is. not comforting lmao.
Co-founder and CEO Mei-Ling Lu told TechCrunch that Calmara was not meant as a serious medical tool. “Calmara is a lifestyle product, not a medical app. It does not involve any medical conditions or discussions within its framework, and no medical doctors are involved with the current Calmara experience."

WELCOME ONE AND ALL. TO THE STAGE WHERE ACTORS PLAY UNFITTING ROLES. WHERE THE ENDING IS NEVER REACHED AND THE TRUTH REMAINS VEILED TO THE EYES. IS CONCORD EVEN POSSIBLE WHEN THE SOVEREIGN IS TYRANNICAL? WHEN THE ROLES SUFFOCATE AND WARP ITS ACTORS AGAINST THEM? WHEN THE TROPES ARE CRUEL AND WRONG YET ENFORCED?
WELCOME. TO THE LIE OF CONCORD AU.
<Im being cheesy about this :3. TWS for this AU will be in another post>
<FAIR WARNING: this au was initially written as a CRITICISM of fanon tropes I disliked. which means that you should expect some nasty tropes to show up, such as infantilization. expect it from this au, and expect to see it be broken down as well>
OUR ACTORS <warning: they are all unreliable. they do not truly know the script>
Heart (Juno)
He is the love, the hate, the emotional side. (he is tired of having to exaggerate his emotions for Host. having to observe and determine whether Host is satisfied with the amount of emotion he expresses and adjusting accordingly is exhausting. and troublesome. he has none left to give for others when Host isnt around. he'd rather sit in silence and think)
He is weak and vile, but unfortunately needed for survival. (being looked down upon for acting as expected of him to avoid punishment is, frankly, annoying. Juno cant tell if Host wants him to be emotional or not when both options may lead to harm. is he to be a child or is he to be mature?)
Resident Heart has to be kept in check, lest his impulse drives him to the wrong actions. (he and Ruler know that, if Host ever shows weakness, they would usurp him without thought. he doesn't want to be the screaming child Host wants. he wants to be quiet and allowed to think for once.)
Mind (Ruler)
He is the reason, the thought, the logical side. [he has not been allowed to express himself in the slightest if he cannot justify it with something Host deems logical. it is easier to bottle up entirely. it is also a lot harder to keep himself sane.]
He is cruel and cold and callous, but that is just how he is. [acting an unfeeling machine is suffocating. the emotions in his chest beg to be let out, but he is only allowed to do things if he is able to justify them, and he is not always able to justify them when he cant just say he is angry, yet he is expected to retaliate against Juno still. is he to be unfeeling or is he to be angry?]
Resident Mind has to be kept in check, lest he thinks of the wrong conclusion. [he and Juno know that, if Host ever shows weakness, they would usurp him in a heartbeat. he doesn't want to be the unfeeling machine Host wants. he wants to rage and break his fists against a wall]
Soul (Host)
He is the Soul Sovereign. {he cannot allow his Heart and Mind to have any power. he must control them at all costs. he knows knows knows they will usurp him the first chance they get. it has happened every single loop}
He intends to guide his Heart and Mind to becoming Whole, by any means necessary. {they all have roles to play. he will make sure that Heart and Mind follow their roles to a t. they are the Host, Juno and Ruler. that is what they must be, and he will punish insubordination}
He has been hardened by his loops and is dead set on finally becoming Whole. {he has never seen Concord. he does not know what it is. it has been ten thousand loops and counting. but he knows he is doing the right thing.}
{he is Sovereign. he is in control. he is not crazy. he is simply playing his role. he knows he is fated to die. he has died every loop one way or another. he swears that becoming Whole is possible if they Just. Play. Their. Roles. Right.}

I’m having a hard time understanding a lot about this conflict. Today, in the USA (Chicago Illinois, San Francisco California, and in New York) Pro-Palestinian activists decided to block the bridges to prevent people from entering or leaving. As a result, people waited for a minimum of 5 hours before the bridge was completely opened for them to cross. I’ve been reading stories of people who were transporting stem cells, sick people, etc who weren’t able to make it out.
According to the protestors, their goal was to cause an “economic blockade” by causing everyone to not be able to go anywhere
Shockingly a lot of Palestinians were supporting this saying that inconveniencing Americans is a good way to bring light to the situation happening in Gaza. I’ve even had some say that the few lives that were lost because of this were “fine” because it’s for the cause. I don’t want to believe that everyone is this cruel, so I will give my thought generally speaking.
I’m not an expert on these things, I don’t know much so im just using logic. Joe Biden is not the supreme authority over Israel. So let’s say that the USA stops sending aid to Israel completely. Let’s say they cut ties. Where will the protesting end up then? Will it move to another country who may support Israel? The way I see it is, Israeli government is going to do what it wants to do whether America sends it money or not.
Secondly, why is it that Americans have to suffer for what we cannot control? Blocking the bridge did nothing for the people in control. They were comfortably in their homes, meanwhile working mothers and fathers lost job time because of this. People have children to feed. How is what’s happening in Gaza somehow the fault of innocent civilians?
This act today was just cruel and my heart hurt because of it. I in no way am turning a blind eye to the suffering of those in Israel, whether that be Israeli or Palestinian. But at some point we really have to think about where our actions will take us. I’m curious to know if anyone is sharing the same thoughts as I am. Again, I am not educated on the conflict to where I can speak confidently about it 100%, im just looking at this from a logical standpoint.
First of all, I don't know why you've chosen to tell me about this. From what I read it seems to me that you've already chosen your thought process and it seems like you feel justified in your decision making.
Second, of course Biden can't directly control all of Israel's actions but what he, and subsequent the United States as a whole, have conveyed is that they are Israels biggest supporters and it is truly undeniable that Israel gets the majority of its funds and weaponry from the US.
You talk on innocent American citizens supposedly suffering from the pro Palestine protest earlier but I have found zero evidence to support your story. The people who participated in the protests aren't the Gazans suffering that is true but they aren't protesting Israel directly, they are trying to put a stop to the American governments 'ironclad' support of support of the genocide in Palestine. In the face of genocide the American president, Joe Biden, decided on the behalf of all Americans to support Israel.
Your emotive language is really dehumanizing to the countless Mothers and Fathers suffering in Palestine, who are very real and very human and of whom deserve the same kind of empathy that your expanding imagery US citizens.
You keep mentioning how you're not an expert, but you don't have to be? There is nothing stopping you from having an opinion, especially since your feelings don't rely on any kind of fact.
There is truly nothing logical about making up a scenario and then getting upset about it.

Debbie Gallagher did an amazing job raising her daughter (and not even just considering her circumstances) that kid turned out great and Debbie's devotion to doing the right thing for her even when repeatedly given the option of the easy thing instead alone should make you love Debbie. She's not a flawless parent because literally nobody is but that girl's determination to break the cycle of trauma and never make her daughter feel the way her parents made her feel is more than you can say for a hell of a lot of mothers in more conventional circumstances. That's all.

hear me out for genshin x bsd-
atsushi would be a cryo claymore that scales off atk (since the tiger is shown as extremely powerful and can even cut through space) and optimizes physical dmg
dazai would be a geo sword support that increases elemental res, acting as a debuffer (as no longer human works in the bsd universe) he would also scale off em
kunikida would also be geo but catalyst that deals physical aoe dmg.. he'd be an in-slot dps but not an optimal one imao his talents are much better suited to make him a battery unit
akutagawa would be pyro polearm?? or sword?? and he's obviously a heavy dps that scales off crit rate/dmg and tenma tengai could be similar to cyno's burst when, once activated, increases def while simultaneously raising rashomon's atk
chuuya would be an anemo catalyst dps similar to wanderer bc of his gravity manipulation and he would have a melee stance where he atks from the ground and an elevated state where he uses gravity manipulation to be able to atk off-ground. his ult would be corruption obviously and would parallel xiao's where his atk and crit rate/dmg are sharply increased but he undergoes continuous dmg until the duration of his burst ends (in this state he is vulnerable as his def is lowered and he isn't able to accumulate energy meaning he needs a team built around him, preferably with a healer and a shielder)
how does it feel to be the sexiest person on this site w absolutely the most correct and banger takes anon??.. why are u correct on literally everything

It's time for my annual controversial Hunger Games post
The fact that Gale is so villianized is such a strong testament to the fact that people will only stand with the oppressed if they find them palpable enough. If you think his anger was extreme and his actions were unnecessary, then you have no real grasp on how revolutions actually work.

I'm... kind of confused about this? Like Ignatz is basically saying the only way for people to move forward is by continuing to fight and destroy? That's a pretty awful message in general, but coming from Ignatz it just feels weird. It sounds like he's just accepted war and that it's just... something that happens so we should shrug it off and move on?
I know this game tends to have very strong pro-war/pro-invasion messages which is already really gross to me, but it went from being annoying and icky to just making me feel disgusted. Also, Ignatz of all people shouldn't just shrug his shoulders and be like well that's just the way of things, I guess! There's an active war going on so it makes sense that towns could be rebuilt and destroyed again. It doesn't mean just give up on it.
Also really doesn't feel like an Ignatz thing to say.
#DCB Three Hopes Run#I'll be honest I have very low opinions of people when I see them say shit like#Edelgard is in the right and it she was justified to invade territories#if there was provocation/she was attacked by another territory first I'd get it#but I can't sympathize with the concept in general of attacking another nation that has nothing to do with you#it feels absolutely disgusting and seeing people actually DEFEND that is extremely concerning about their real life values#especially when she's very open about how the purpose of it is conquest and not actually the Church#and no nobody can use the Faerghus sheltering refugees as an excuse bc she attacks them in both games#and they didn't shelter the Church at all outside CF. in Hopes it's just a reason the writers needed to be able to#make it so the game had a similar story to Houses and to give a reason so the war still happened#Faerghus was quite literally minding its own business and growing at an astoundingly fast pace#and suddenly they have to decide whose side to take in a war? they didn't want to go to war but they were forced#and Ignatz here basically shrugging his shoulders figuring it's just a way of life to be at war is... not a good message#people who initiate war do it for their own political and territorial gain and that's true of this story too#it's not a question of whether or not it was Edelgard's goal bc she just outright SAYS it is#like... she's not hiding it? she's not trying to dodge the fact? and like again you can like her character as a fictional character#but it would be like if I said I love Ashnard and bc of that I agreed with his goals ideals and values and that#he was justified in attacking Crimea and torturing laguz. he's a really cool character and I love what he brings to the story#but there's a fine line between finding a fictional character interesting/fascinating#and outright defending their actions and basically saying conquest is okay as long as you tell people it's for another reason#i.e. Edelgard gave the propaganda about ''for the people'' but that wasn't her goal. if it WAS#she'd be contacting Dimitri in those two years like hey I see you guys are making strides in your politics mind giving us some advice#if her goal was for the people she would've spent those two years for the people and fixing shit not preparing for war#it just... really leaves a sick feeling for me that people legitimately believe her violence is justified and that here Ignatz is basically#saying that war is just a thing we all should just accept. like... how is war the only way for humans to move forward???#the one good thing Twitter does is that it tries to at least give sympathies to attacked nations#if this game was real you'd be seeing ''Faerghus attacked'' ''Faerghus invaded'' ''pray for Faerghus'' all over Twitter lmao#like if this was never a fictional story and if it was just real life there would have been only support on social media

How to explain to ppl that jokes are the foundations to a lot of bigotry... Like you let ppl you don't know start laughing at jokes poking fun at groups they aren't in and that's where they start to get comfortable with being bigoted and then using "it was just a joke" as a defense
#personal#saw a post about getting wrapped in fabric for calling someone who is nb a girl#op said it was just a joke post and they didn't want ppl being transphobic in the comments#but guess what was all up in the comments??? u guessed it! transphobia#ppl making up scenarios that never happened to justify being bigoted#and saying that it's okay to misgender someone consistently and not try to properly identify them if you think it's ok cause u use the terms#in a gender neutral way 🤪🤪 hee so quirky#like stfu....#i use girl and bruh in a gn way but if someone told me they didn't want to be referred that way I'd stop#it's called being respectful#this is also why it's so sketchy seeing those joke posts that are made about specific group and then op is a gen meme uploader#with no identifiers of who is behind the account#i immediately clock the amount as run by a teenage cishet white boy since they wanna act like they're the default anyways#which then makes the perspective of their content a lot more heinous#and i don't care if its bad faith because these posts are often viewed and laughed at by ppl who are not the ppl being made fun of#and it makes the ppl in the content vulnerable to bigotry and having their existence questioned by assholes#so in my opinion if you're not apart of the group your joking about and you post content making fun of them to millions of strangers#then ur literally posting content that farms negative views towards the group you posted about#whether you did it intentionally or not#esp hate when they go but my friend is X and they're okay with it!!#ok and we aren't all your friend... and your friend isn't our ruler so....#keep that shit between you and ppl who know your boundaries or else don't complain when ppl think you're a bigot

I'll admit in all honesty that I've lost interest in hypmic because of the plot issues and the whole thing that happened with the stage. I always feel so bad about it tbh, because I love DH and BAT but yeah. They're under utilized and a big complaint I've had is that I'm so curious what other divisions would have been like, considering how those two groups seem so different from the og (especially in the tones and stuff of their music) at least to me.
This would have been interesting if they had a plot first and then used the voting just to push things along. But as it is...I just. I dunno. It doesn't do it for me.
you get the sense that outside of the og divisions there’s a lack of care for anything else right lol???? like bc we don’t know and haven’t been obviously given anything to go on, nagosaka stans get to watch others get their food and stay questioning when their faves will get their time in the spotlight lol!!!!!
like imagine dropping new divisions in the middle of the og divisions getting plot developments!!!! they guaranteed the nagosaka will always be a step behind the ogs and it’s stupid ☹️☹️☹️

Hi! I just heard ELDO has discontinued Tom of Finland, I'm so crushed because I really wanted to try it. I actually found a site that still has it but I was wondering could you share what you think it smells like? Do you think it's worth blind buying a bottle since it's no longer in production? Appreciate your advice!
It's so sad, isn't it! 😓 If it's any consolation, they haven't completely discontinued it, just rebranded the fragrance to Clean Suede...taking this ask as an opportunity to share the original ELDO ad, RIP Tom...
youtube
In general I'd advise against blind buying anything, it's easy enough to get small sample sizes or decants so you can try before you buy. I recommend getting a sample size with an atomizer if you can, it'll give the top notes a little bit of a longer lifespan. You can get those off ELDO's site directly or from other sites like scentsplit or luckyscent
In terms of what it smells like...important to know right off the bat that it's not a raunchy, androerotic, exaggerated scent profile that you might expect. It's probably a good thing they changed the branding tbh, if you look up reviews you'll see a lot of people mad that it's too tame to live up to its namesake lol. It's a lovely scent though, playfully masculine, and there is an understated eroticism to it - more sensual than overly sexual imo.
I'll put a screenshot of the notes I have on this perfume under the cut, hopefully you'll find it helpful.

having a lot of thoughts about how people use 'normalize' when they mean 'destigmatize' or 'make the nature of into common knowledge,' and how they conflate 'the perception of this thing as normal' with the thing actually being a normal occurrence, and how it is in fact incredibly harmful to try to convince people that an ideal situation is normal when that does not map onto their lived reality or the dangers they need to be aware of to avoid. it is 3:33am though so writing up an actual poast about it will have to wait for later
#whosebaby talks#this post brought to you by 'spreading awareness of what an abusive relationship is and looks like compared to a nonabusive relationship'#'is fantastic and i support it fully and think it's deeply important. giving people the false idea that abusive relationships are uncommon'#'and are flukes that go against the grain of society functioning as it normally does; is insanely dangerous to people who are potential#targets; and incredibly alienating and isolating and cruel to people who have already been targets'#'in uniquely awful ways depending on whether they're already aware of that or aren't. don't fucking do that'#it applies much more broadly than that; but it's an instance i think about A Lot and it's what led me to this line of thought to start with#there's also 'normal does not mean good and saying so has incredibly unbelievably harmful implications keep that shit out of your mouth'#but that is so obvious it boggles my mind that it has to be explained to anyone on this site; and it is talked about often enough#that i would rather focus on the parts i don't really see talked about much; if at all#also like the fact that 'statistically average' normal vs 'things are functioning as they usually do' is a critically important distinction#they are closely related and interplay heavily with each other but they are Not the Same Thing#and how 'normal' can refer to different layers and aspects of a subject--people with rare health conditions are not statistically average#and that by itself is fine. and those people having conditions that are disruptive to the usual functioning of a space or system#is avoidable in some cases by establishing as much infrastructure as possible to integrate their more common needs smoothly#and unavoidable in others; which means the normal functioning of a system/space that accommodates people with unexpected needs#has to account *for its normal functioning being disrupted sometimes*#and bend around that disruption without either breaking down or rolling right over the disabled people who Cause Problems#and at the same time 'rare health condition' gets applied to health conditions that are not rare *at all* to not only justify not bothering#to make the system integrate their needs in general when it could do so easily; but make it so that accommodating their needs anyway puts#immense and unnecessary strain on the system; so there is zero margin for anything you didn't specifically fight tooth and nail for already#anyway it's a really extensive subject and a fascinating one. for later. sleep now#abuse cw#ableism cw#the salt files#is there a name for that tag

It’s just so cathartic to watch someone coming to terms with the ways in which they are, in fact, kind of a terrible person and then suffer under that knowledge but work through it and find kindness anyways.
