You were always the night owl, lived off coffee and good books and you only wear dark colors. Your routine includes waking up at 10 pm, Cooking and eating your dinner at approximately 11:30 pm, Studying until 6 am, Taking a shower, Make your coffee, and be at school at 7:00 am where you meet up with you too-bright-and-jolly girlfriend, Alice Cullen. After school you then either head home to your own house, or to the Cullens household, either way you crash into anything soft and just ultimately pass out, and your cycle repeats. Sometimes your girlfriend would join you in studying even if she didn’t need it, Sometimes you’d do other things with your girlfriend, some of the things you do aren’t appropriate for a house full of vampires with super hearing, and not to mention her nosy brother who had the ability to read minds.
“Get out of the way before I pummel you to the ground asshole.” You grumbled to the guy who’s blocking your way and was staring at your girlfriend like she’s a piece of meat. You hated that but you couldn’t do anything. One, pretty sure it’s illegal to kill someone even if you’re thinking about all the ways you could and Two, you miss you girlfriend’s cold hand holding yours.
You see him shiver before grabbing his things and scrambling away, his goons hot on his tail.
“You have the most creative mind I have ever come across. Really? Using his blood as paint after you use gamma rays to blow up his uhm. Yeah. Where would you even get gamma rays?” Edward scrunches his face as they all approach you.
“Pretty sure Carlisle would hook me up with some.” You smirked then kissed your girlfriend’s forehead, You held her hand in yours as she giggled, getting out of her trance like state.
“Carlisle denied.” She kissed your cheek before dragging you inside the school, where they all separated like the goddamn sea in that one bible story.
Safe to say, you were pretty feared in the whole town. Socially isolated, always has a cup of coffee in hand, dark marks under your eyes, a blank looks often settles on your face,always had earphones in, glared at people who made your family uncomfortable, scared people without trying and a student could’ve sworn he saw you drink someones blood which he says was inside your coffee cup. It was beetroot juice since you ran out of coffee but needed something hot to drink, so you made beetroot juice, with lots and lots of sugar. You were dubbed as a vampire or a witch, which was hilarious considering your girlfriend is a vampire. A bright, happy, sparkling vampire who doesn’t sleep in coffins whatsoever.
“Have a good day baby, see you at lunch.” Alice kissed your cheek before bouncing in her classroom followed by Emmett who winked at you and Rosalie who raised her brows at you and told you to behave.
“I always behave!” You argued with a small pout on your lips, barely noticeable but Rosalie just smirks before walking gracefully into the room, sitting in between Emmett and Alice who just shooed you away.
“It’s never a good day.” you whispered while walking away, fully knowing that they could hear you.
Lunch came so slow that by the time you sat at your usual spot, you already had thoughts on murdering your history teacher who ‘unintentionally’ spat at your face and drizzled her spit on your face like a waterfall.
“It’s only been half a day Y/LN, You’ll get through it.” Rosalie slides her tray of food over to you while petting your head.
“i don’t understand why you choose to go through this over and over again.” You groaned, laying your head on Alice’s shoulder. They just laughed and proceeded to talk about things that you don’t even bother to listen to.
“You’re coming over today right?” Alice asked you with that bell like voice that you so loved
“Hmm? Oh yeah, Cuddles?” You whispered to her, internally groaning at how soft you’ve become for your girlfriend.
“Yes please. You’re warm.”
“And you are freezing cold.” You retorted, stealing some of her fries
“It comes with the package. Now come on, I’ll walk you to your room.” She pats you head while moving away, packing her things. Which low-key made you whine.
“But I always escort you to your room.” You complained
“That’s true, but I figured you wouldn’t be opposed to change.” She smiled, offering her hand which you took.
“Edward?”
“Nope. Not telling you. I am not going on another shopping spree with that little devil of yours.” He sped walked away, dragging Bella with him
“I think you traumatized him real bad, Ali.” You chuckled
“Good.” She exclaimed
12 midnight, and you just woke up to Alice holding you while reading a book, She smiles at you before tapping her lips, asking for a kiss. You shook your head no, trying to get out of her arms to brush your teeth.
“Nope, kisses first before brushing.” She grips you tighter
“Eww. Morning breath. Alice please!” She just grins before showering your face with kisses.
“There. You can go now, Esme just finished your dinner.” She beamed at you, pushing you into the large bathroom that she has before sitting on the sink.
“Uhm...” You stare at her, confused
“What?”
The both of you took an hour long shower, you didn’t even need to shower, Alice just persuaded you into doing so. Earning you different looks from different vampires the moment you walked down the stairs.
A suggestive smirk from Rosalie and a laughing Emmett A smirking Jasper A confused Bella with a disgusted looking Edward A smiling Esme holding a bowl of food  And lastly, A laughing Carlisle.
“Oh my God.” You groaned, walking to the dining room, thanking Esme for the food.
“Really Y/N?” complained Edward who’s cuddling a still confused Bella
“What? Just because you decide to wait until marriage does not mean I have to.” You smirked, winking at Edward who would be blushing if he was human.
“Don’t talk while your mouth is full.” Scolded Esme who’s also trying to keep her laugh in
“Yes Mom. Anyways, Bella I love you, but you look like you’re about to shut down and ready to be pawned like an old computer.” You told her, biting into a chicken leg
“i’ll take her home.” Edward says, grabbing his keys and waits for Bella.
“Why is she here anyways” Grumbled Rosalie, who everyone ignored while you just tapped her head
“Let’s play chess when you get back!” You shouted after him
You finish your food quickly and washed your plates, much to the distaste of Esme, leading your giggling short girlfriend to the couch beside Jasper.
“Jasper~ Wanna watch documentaries of wars and judge everything they did wrong?” You ask Jasper who’s nodding at your request. Alice plopping herself on your lap as she stares at you laughing and smiling with her family.
She’s really happy to have found you the way she did, She reminisced the time when the two of you first met. You were browsing racks and racks of clothes, taking black colored blouses, shirts and button-ups that are your size before walking into a dressing room. While you were in the room, she started to have a vision about the two of you together, having dates and you carrying her shopping bags in this same store, making her all giddy. She was with Rosalie at that time, who just stared at her with a look of slight confusion as she basically bounced to you. You at first was taken aback that someone was actually talking to you, and it was a cute girl at that. Alice greeted you with a smile and a hello before handing you a green blazer and tie, telling you emerald green compliments your eyes and outfit before paying for what you were buying, writing her name and number on the receipt, leaving you dumbfounded at the store
At first she thought that the both of you wouldn’t work out, especially because of all the chaos that recently happened to her family and leaving forks. But you made the effort of always texting her little notes and telling her how your day was, even if she didn’t reply, slowly she felt herself fall more in love with you, letting herself reply and indulge in the visions that she had that involved you. Once she told her family about you, they were a bit skeptical, especially since Carlisle tended to your knuckle wounds one too many times. But upon seeing the love sick look on both your eyes and the loud complaining of Edward at how sickeningly cute your thoughts were of each other, they eventually accepted you as one of their own despite being human.
And now she stares in awe as you spent about 2 hours criticizing documentaries with Jasper before Edward comes home, and when he did, you played a couple rounds of chess (You always lost, which made Edward laugh every time.) before she decided that she’s bored with you losing to her brother every round and just decided to pick you up and dash to her room.
“What was that for love?” You ask her when she settled herself in your arms
“I just. I was bored and I realized that it’s been too long since we cuddled.”
“It’s literally been 4 hours since I woke up bumblebee.” You ran your hand through her hair
“I missed you. 4 hours is too long.”
“Awe. I missed you too. Want to pick up where we left off on How to Kill a Mockingbird?” You ask her
“Yes please, I love hearing your voice.” She puts her face on the crook of your neck as you read to her, one of your hand intertwined with hers.
Even though she can’t fall asleep anymore, she loves the way your voice sounds, it calms her down and she could easily compare the “peace” she feels right now to the “peace” she could remember feeling when she was asleep. She really did love you and she doesn’t hesitate to let you know. In multiple various ways.
Like now, she cut off your reading when her soft lips touched yours. You immediately let go of the book to hold her face lovingly as you put all your feelings into the kiss like you always do. You always felt like your words are never enough, so you always try to express your feeling through physical affection.
As if remembering you need your air, she slowly pulls away, her forehead touching yours as you catch your breath.
“I love you” she whispers, kissing your nose
“I love you too.” You smiled, pecking her lips
Your moment was then ruined when Emmett started banging his fists on the door, loudly exclaiming that you all have to get ready for school. You growled lowly, rolling your eyes.
“Alright! Geez.” You grumpily picked up the book that was tossed to the floor before walking to Alice’s closet where you also keep some of your clothes in...
Only to see that they weren’t there.
“Uhm Alice? Darling? Where are my clothes?” You ask her
She walks to where you are, peeking in slightly before pecking your lips.
“Oops. Accidentally sent all them to your house. Guess you have to wear my clothes then.” She smirked at you, pulling out a lemon yellow trench coat, a rosy pink turtleneck and hot pink pants with a blue belt.
“Baby, Alice. Love. Darling. Bumblebee. Please don’t do this to me.” You pleaded but she just shook her head, handing you the clothes before threatening you with no kisses and cuddles for a week if you refuse.
Your shoulders sag with defeat as you change into the clothes Alice gave you, pouting while walking down the stairs of the Cullen Household. Alice smiles brightly as she hooked her arm around yours. Chuckles and giggles erupted the moment they saw you which made you grumble and murmur underneath your breath as you sip your cup of coffee made by Esme.
“You-”
“Not a word.” You growled out, blushing furiously as you laughing girlfriend holds your hand while walking through the halls of Forks High school.
Your girlfriend can be annoying at times, add that to her chaotic family, but you would never trade it for anything. Ever.

Sick Days [BEN Drowned x Reader]
Summary: When a creepypasta manages to crawl into your home through a computer, people usually scream and call the police. You? Well, it's just another normal day for you.
Genre: Fluff, Horror, Humor
Date: June 20, 2015
-----
You sat in your room with the expression of utter boredom painted on your features, your hand absentmindedly tracing patterns on the table next to your open laptop. You grunted as your computer went into hibernation mode again and tapped the spacebar to reawaken the screen. Your bedroom window was wide open, allowing the evening breeze to float into your adobe and gently rustle the papers on your table. Fading streaks of sunlight peeked through your fluttering curtains, caressing your body with soft warmth.
Despite the serene atmosphere that had settled into your semi-messy room, your features were soon twisted into a grimace. The fingers that had been trailing along the table began drumming a steady rhythm, growing quicker and more impatient by the second. You glanced at the clock for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, and read the blaring red numbers 6:23 PM. You scowled, annoyed. "Ugh, where is that little rascal?" You muttered, tapping your keyboard again and watching irefully as your homescreen popped up again. Ben usually arrived before sundown, but the sun was already halfway down the horizon. Ben probably would've taunted you for being so worked up over his absence, and you, being a little short tempered, would probably fall for his teasing and would have exploded into a mess of jumbled profanities. Though many would describe your actions now as "eager," you recalled how petrified you were when Ben first popped out of the fossilized desktop your dad insisted they brought when your family moved. That day, your mother and father had been visiting a sick relative in the hospital, and couldn't come home for the night. You, feeling free and a little daring, decided to stay up the entire night watching horror flicks in your livingroom. Although you felt the terror of eight marathoned horror movies shake you to your core, you persisted, jumping at every little noise from the movie and from your creaky home. That's why, when you witnessed the forgotten computer in the corner of the livingroom fizz and flicker on and off, you froze in unfathomable fear, merely staring as a deathly pale hand clawed it's way out of a jumble of binary code and pixels. By the time a head of tousled white hair and pitch black eyes with crimson irises emerged from the screen, you were already halfway out the door, knowing better than to trap yourself in your own bedroom. You would've spent the night at a neighbor's house, but your closest neighbor must have been at least a mile away- being that your family decided to move into the suburbs. Unfortunately for you, who was secluded in the pitch black of the night with god-knows-what in your house, it was pouring outside. In your mad scramble for salvation, you had not grabbed the keys to your house. You had originally settled for the plan to stay in the freezing rain, (it was definitely a safer bet than being in the house) but alas, the hours spent watching scary movies finally took its toll on you, and had made you paranoid to every small rustle and crunch. (In truth, it was just the trees.) This terror had driven you to crawl up some old growths of ivy on the side of your home, feeling blessed to find your bedroom window open just a crack- allowing you to pry the rest of the window open. Halfway through your window, you looked up- only to become blatantly horrified. There the white-haired boy was, floating in the middle of the room with bleeding eyesockets- as if he had been waiting for your arrival. Overcome with panic and surprise, you allowed the wet soles of your feet slip out from under you, sending your drenched body sailing face-first towards the hardwood floor of your bedroom. Your nose took the brunt of the fall, and erupted in a mess of blood upon impact. The pain of a shattered nose did little to deter you from the thing in your room. Holding your nose with both hands, you scrambled to press yourself against the wall- as far away from that demon-ghost-thing as possible. But when you looked back up, you were shocked to find it trying desperately to hold back laughter, it's eye twitching from the effort. The corner of it's mouth was twitching toward a smirk, and it's eyes were betraying it's stoic expression- it wanted to laugh at you! You shot to your feet, prepared to duke it out with the hovering monster- only to slip a second time on the rainwater that you had tracked into your room. This time, your head collided hard with the frame of your bed, and you blacked out. You woke up the next morning with a wrapped head and a bandaged nose. It turns out your parents had returned from their little trip and found you lying in a puddle of your own nosebleed- which sounds as humiliating as it felt- and had patched you up. After you told them about what you had seen, your parents merely laughed and gave you an affectionate pat on the head, claiming that the stress of moving and lack of sleep had to do with your "hallucinations." You would've believed them, if it wasn't for the fact that the boy showed up in your room again. You fell asleep while using your laptop and when you awoke, you found the pale-haired boy freeing his foot from your computer screen. Though you were sure that the white-haired monster returned to finish you off, you found him simply pointing his finger at your wrapped up face and cackling at you, tears budding in the gaping holes that were his eyes. You felt your face burn with embarrassment, and though you should have called for help, you simply sat there, allowing the strange being to laugh at your misfortune. After what felt like an eternity he retreated back into your computer, still snickering- leaving you bewildered and dazed. He later introduced himself as Ben Drowned over a cyberchat website named "Cleverbot," and you learned his story, as well as the fact that he could teleport just about anywhere that held an electronic device. Later that night, you awoke to a flooded room. With your heart pummeling with fear, you gasped and flailed for breath, desperately searching for a way out. You were less than pleased to find Ben on the screen on your open laptop- which was, for some reason, still working under water. His shoulders shook with muted laughter, doubling over with the hilarity he found in your pitiful predicament. As soon as it started, it was gone. The water that had once filled your room was gone, leaving everything unscathed in it's wake. Once you found mobility in your limbs again, you stormed to your laptop (which still contained the laughing freak) and took out the battery, taking away the laptop's source of life. You stormed about your house, rampaging in the middle of the night to turn off or unplug any source of electricity you could- the phones, the computers, televisions- even the dusty desktop. Despite the complaints of your confused parents, you were at peace. Since you had cut off any source of electricity, (other than the lights) that pesky elf hadn't bothered you- probably because he couldn't. However, your happiness was short-lived. Upon returning from school one day, you found that your parents had somehow reconnected everything before going to work- leaving you with two things: electricity, and an angry Ben. You had no idea how you did it, but you managed to convince Ben not to suck you into the netherworld or kill you- With minimal damage to the house. Before you placated him, Ben had flown into a livid tantrum, tossing tables and pictures to-and-fro with some unseen force, only ceasing when you promised that you would keep all electronics plugged in- thus allowing him to drop in any time he liked. Since then, the white haired boy with red irises visited routinely each day without intentions to scare you, though you were still unnerved by his presence at first. As if he sensed your uneasiness, Ben began to annoy you. Ceaselessly. Day after day, he knocked over decorative vases, messed up your room, taunted your occasional bad grades, and in all: irked the hell out of you. Yet here you were, waiting for his arrival like some kind of goddamned puppy. "What. Ever." You hissed through clenched teeth, standing up from your computer table, "Maybe he got bored of me. He's been visiting me for... God knows how long already...Good riddance." Despite your words, you felt a twinge of sadness prick your heart like a fine-tipped needle. Though he was undoubtedly aggravating most of the time, you had liked him company. Just a little. You sighed, the beams of twilight cast your shadow across the floor. "I should prepare some microwaveable dinner, my parents are working overtime today." As you sulked slowly towards your bedroom door, a loud crash and the sound of loud static pierced your eardrums, making you leap several feet into the air and scramble for the doorknob, storming downstairs to find the source of the noise. You were both annoyed and relieved to find Ben crawling out of the screen of the old desktop, though your annoyance went out the window once you spotted his shaking arms on the edge of the screen, as if he couldn't support his own weight. You extended a hand out to him, flinching as he finally managed to haul himself out of the mess of codes, landing in a heap on the floor. "Ben?" You inquired, peering at his crumpled form. "Are you okay...?" You knelt down next to him, touching his shoulder gently. "Ben?" At your voice, the creepypasta turned to look at you weakly before sniggering quietly- which worried you a bit. "What are you doing in my house?" You raised an eyebrow. "Ben, this is my house. Not yours." Ben, who had a pinkish hue to his pale cheeks, took a look around before the realization dawned upon him. "Oh, right. I'll be going then." You watched as the usually boisterous entity struggled to get back onto his feet, only to fall down again. This time, however, you caught him. Once his body made contact with your arms, you nearly shrieked. The back of his neck was burning hot, and the rest of his body was strangely warm- just like an overheated computer. "Ben-" You adjusted your hold on him, (he was a lot heavier than he looked) "Ben, are you sick?" Ben glared at you weakly. "No." You sighed, exasperated. His pride was going to be the death of him one day. You placed a gentle palm his forehead, cringing at the impossibly high temperature you felt. "Ben, you have a high fever. A bad one." The said person clicked his tongue and turned his face away, looking irritated. "That explains why I felt like shit the whole day." You couldn't help but snicker as you carried him to the couch, "That also explains why you didn't think of visiting me today." "Get off your high-fucking-horse, princess." Ben scowled, trying in vain to look threatening. "You should be thankful that I visit you everyday." You rolled your eyes, placing him softly on the couch. "Yeah, yeah. Thanks for gracing me with your presence everyday, dumbass." You swore you heard Ben grumble something under his breath, but you were already too far up the stairs to hear. You returned with several pillows, a thermometer and some pills from the bathroom cabinet, determined to nurse Ben back to health. Though he was an annoying turd most of the time, there were rare moments where he comforted you in times of need- though most of the time, his offers to help just involved murdering someone, which you kindly refused. ("Killing people isn't the solution to everything, you freaking moron!") Now, it was your turn to help him. With an abundance of pillows in your arms, you urged him to sit up for a second (which he did with an anguished groan) and slipped four or five behind him, ensuring his comfort. You went into the kitchen and returned with a damp cloth and a glass of water to drink with the medicine. To be honest, you weren't quite sure if human medicine worked on creepypasta such as Ben, but it was all you had. "Ben, come on, you need to take some medicine." He scoffed at you. "Get your Earth pills away from me. You know just as well as I do that those won't work for me." You knelt next to him on the floor next to the couch and uncapped the bottle, shaking two pills out of the container and nudging him up. "You're right. I don't know if it'll work, but it's the only thing I have, so just suck it up and take them." "Get away from me." He hissed. "Ben..." You said, your tone threatening, "Don't make me unplug everything again." At this, Ben's hollow eyes narrowed, the red specks of light in them piercing into your skull. "You wouldn't dare." You gulped, feeling a cold sweat accumulate at his intense gaze. You steeled yourself and glared right back at him. "Try me." Grudgingly, Ben accepted the pills and sat up. Before you could stop him, he threw the pills in his mouth and began to chew. You froze, holding the cup of water in your hand and staring at him with wide eyes. You had made the same mistake of chewing those pills when you were younger, prior to figuring out that you could use water to wash them down. To be frank, those pills could cause more damage than a fever if not taken with water- they were horrendously bitter, and nearly caused you to puke. Just as you thought, Ben gradually stopped chewing, turning even paler than he already was- if possible. Though his face showed no emotion, you could almost feel the bloodthirsty aura that washed off of him, obviously not too pleased with the taste. You wasted no time in shoving the glass of water in his hands, urging him to drink. The water was gone before you could even blink, and Ben held the front of your shirt with an intent of death in his eyes. "You-" He stuttered, his face tinted red from anger, "You-" You braced yourself for whatever might come, but surprisingly, the grip on your shirt loosened, and Ben flopped back down unceremoniously, letting the pillows swallow his lean body. "Oh, whatever... Why would humans invent something so horrible to heal a sickness? If anything, that just made me sicker..." You smiled nervously, feeling the slightest bit guilty. "Er, it's my fault... I should have told you about the water sooner..." Ben scowled faintly. "Damn right you should've." You whispered a low "sorry" before wringing the wet towel, placing the cool cloth on Ben's head. This pulled a sigh of satisfaction from his lips, his eyes fluttering closed with contentment. You uncapped the thermometer, clicking the "ON" switch before turning back to Ben. "One last thing before you rest, Ben. I need your temperature." Ben didn't even bother to open his eyes or complain- which surprised you. Without hesitation, he simply opened his mouth. You found yourself smiling endearingly at his actions: it was like handling a stubborn child- all you had to do was get past his hard shell. Taking Ben's temperature was a little bit of a struggle, since the digital screen glitched and spazzed out once it made contact with him. However, once you had taken his temperature, your eyes nearly bulged out of your head. The little pixels, occasionally glitching, read "105.7° F. " After discovering this little fact, you urged him to sleep for a bit- feeling a bit panicked. After the third time of telling him to just relax and sleep, Ben snapped at you. "If you tell me to go to sleep one more time, I'll call Jeff up here and tell him to put you to sleep." Though you knew this was an empty threat, it still shut you up. You had heard a lot about Jeff the Killer, and though some of your friends were obsessed with him, you weren't too keen on meeting him. After turning on the fan in hopes to cool Ben down, you settled back next to him on the floor, watching his uneven breathing. After a few moments of staring, Ben's eyes snapped open, feebly glaring at you before it turned into a smirk. "Sweetheart, I know i'm good looking- but if you're gonna stare, at least do something that can excuse you from it." You blinked and furrowed your brows, feeling embarrassed but relieved. It sounded like he was feeling a bit better- but was that really a good thing for you? Silently, you lifted a hand and began combing it through his silvery hair, knocking his hat astray. However, Ben didn't seem to mind. In fact, he completely ignored his hat and turned away from you, as if he were hiding his face. Despite his best efforts, you spotted a pinkish tint on his cheeks that extended to his ears- and you were sure it wasn't because of the fever he had. You watched him with soft eyes and continued your small ministrations, wondering how he had gotten sick in the first place. Before long, Ben had fallen asleep to your touch and the low hum of the fan. Sighing breathily, you gave the sleeping boy a thoughtful look. You didn't understand why he had kept the routine of visiting you everyday, but you weren't about to complain. Moving was no easy task, it included making new friends and leaving the old ones behind. Your socializing skills weren't your strongest suit, and although you tried your best, it was difficult to keep a conversation with someone at school- you feared their judgement. Though you knew most of the people at school didn't mean any harm to you, it was still a little scary for you to be cast out into a new environment so suddenly, it made you feel vulnerable. And although Ben had scared the pants off of you at first, you slowly began to realize that your arguments and chats with him didn't make you tense or anxious. Perhaps you could even go as far as to say he made you the slightest bit happy. You continued to play with his hair for a little while before removing your hands, observing him carefully. It was true that Ben was relatively handsome, though you would rather die than admit that to him. His white hair and pale complexion gave him the look of a hauntingly beautiful angel, though his eyes were dark and devilish, always seeming to hold only the most malicious of intentions. While he was awake, his countenance was usually twisted into a smirk or a sneer- which didn't exactly make him more attractive, but definitely did not take away from it, either. However, as he was asleep, you couldn't help but notice how strikingly bewitching he looked without the usual grimace. His long, white eyelashes brushed against his cheekbones, colored pale pink with his fever. Though you hadn't noticed it previously, it was almost unnerving how captivating Ben was. With his sleek, graceful features relaxed, you almost wouldn't have been able to guess that he was such a cunning gremlin while he was awake. You couldn't stop your eyes from wandering to his lips, which were slightly parted with his steady inhales and exhales. Just like the rest of his body, his lips were deathly pale, and slightly chapped- though they still looked inviting. You blushed and averted your eyes upon realizing how inappropriate your thoughts were. Ben was horribly sick and helpless, yet here you were, daydreaming about... A kiss... You covered your face, feeling humiliation wash over you in waves. Ben would probably laugh himself to death if he knew what you were thinking. The mere thought of being with Ben was impractical within itself, since there was no way monsters like him were even capable of feelings, right...? Your train of thought was halted when you heard the silverette groan lowly from across you. You peered out from your hands with questioning eyes, wondering if you had woken him up with the intensity of your staring. (Was that even possible, though?) He wasn't awake. His eyes were still sealed shut, but his mouth was twitching, as if he were trying to say something. You leaned in closer, watching attentively. Did he want water? A colder towel? More pillows? Suddenly, much to your shock, your name erupted from his lips, sounding like a cross between a groan of irritation and a plea. Then, he was silent again. You felt a warmness in your body emitting from the center of your stomach, and before long, you found yourself smiling at Ben. He was asleep, so it wouldn't hurt too much, right...? Slowly, you leaned forward and brushed back some of his soft locks, marveling at how pretty his face was. With such a small distance between you two, you could smell his scent- a distinct smell of static and coconut. Gently, you pressed your lips to his cheek, feeling the warmth of his soft, feverish skin on your own mouth. As you pulled away, you found a hand on the back of your head, pulling you back in. Wide eyes registered as Ben tilted his head, and his lips met yours, watching your bewildered expression with groggy, half-lidded eyes before he closed them, pressing his lips harder against your own. His mouth was burning hot, no doubt it was because of the fever, but it made the kiss even harder to resist. With flushed cheeks, you allowed your eyes to slip shut as well, returning the gentle pressure lightly. You noted that Ben was being unusually careful as he cupped your face, as if you were made of fragile glass that would shatter at any moment. You smiled at this, and brushed the side of his cheek with the back of your hand endearingly. He pulled away and you opened your mouth to speak, but before you could get a word in, his lips descended upon yours again, his tongue sweeping over your already open lips and tickling the roof of your mouth. You squeaked a bit at this, and he pulled back, his hand still on your cheek, opening his eyes to take in your reddened face and light panting. And then you saw it. It surprised you more than the kiss did- and perhaps more than his first appearance did. Ben smiled. It was a genuine smile, albeit small, unlike the smirks and half-grins he gave you all the time. This time, his lips curled naturally, softening his scarlet eyes a twinge. The hues of twilight poured in from the window and washed over both of you, bathing both of you in a beautiful gradient of a fading pink, yellow and orange. You should have scolded him for kissing you while he was sick, but you couldn't find the heart to ruin the mood. Instead, you smiled back at him, leaning into the hand that remained on your cheek. There, in the wake of the lingering sun, you discovered that what once was your greatest fear was also your greatest treasure.

Title: A Tale of Two Slaves (3/17)
Summary:  “Soulmates don’t exist. Fate doesn’t exist. Everything is a choice.” At that moment, Levi could only watch as she made the choice for him.“
Reincarnation AU. Levi remembers everything from their past life. Hange doesn’t.
Note: This has been sitting on my computer untouched for a while, along with the timeline I prepared for a multichapter fic. Will probs go back to it soon. Feedback is very much appreciated.

The forms were so painfully boring, Levi almost regretted agreeing to meet Moblit. One of the few things, if not the only thing, stopping him from backing out of the study then and there, was the hope it could give him an excuse to see her again. He planned to ease himself into the process of meeting her, not wanting to make a complete fool or a complete stalker of himself.
There was the option to ask for her number. The option to ask for her schedule. Or he could maybe just scan through enough pages on google to find some hint as to what the hell she does, where she goes and where he could possibly “accidentally” meet her. The last option had proved ineffective, Levi spent a good few hours a day doing just that. Just in case maybe, the links he found through google do change.
The sheer embarrassment and conflicted feelings that came with having delusion drive his actions, had Levi worse off than before. Although the nightmares that left him in pain in the mornings had become few and far between, he could not help but think that possibly the reason why was because he barely got any sleep anymore, kept awake by his brain trying to process that relationship he had with Hange and the story that was made known to him.
His five hours a night had dwindled into three when classes started. His brain having no time to process the dreams during classes and training, Levi found himself taking up more time lying awake in bed, building the world his dreams were telling him about and how Hange fit into all of it.
The lack of sleep caught up to him particularly when he was sifting through the pages of waivers and information sheets in the coffee shop near campus at nine in the morning. The words started to blur into blobs and Levi became aware of how much he hated Calibri as a font, a small issue in the grand scheme of things. Lacking sleep and utterly frustrated at his lack of progress though, Levi was finding many reasons not to read them.
He eventually gave up, instead checking box after box after box. “When do you need this?” Levi asked Moblit who sat in front of him.
“As soon as possible… But I really recommend you read ---”
“Well, how much time are you gonna give me to read?”
“I don’t have any classes today so I’m pretty much free the whole day.”
“Same.” He felt the venom in his tone particularly resonate and a part of him regretted it as he said it. That day was particularly special. He had no class. With their coach out on a meeting with other schools to discuss the tournaments and line ups this year, he had given the players a day off. Levi pretty much had that whole day to himself yet, he still went to the trouble of dressing up just to meet Moblit only to find out he’d be going through pages worth of documents while half awake. “I’ll just get a cup of coffee.”
Levi was already halfway out of seat when Moblit took out his wallet.
“Let me pay for it.” Moblit handed Levi a few bills. He had an apologetic look on his face as if he did understand the inconvenience the study would cause anyone. The look Moblit gave him suddenly made Levi self conscious about the tone he had been answering Moblit with since a while ago.
Levi took the money with a small nod of thanks. It was free coffee after all and he did not have much leeway given his monthly allowance.
When Levi got back to their table black coffee in one hand, he could see that Moblit had reorganized the papers, the uncompleted page sitting neatly on top. He had also opened the sandwich he had bought half an hour ago and was eating it already
“Before I forget, did you bring Hange’s keychain?” Moblit asked in between bites.
“Ah, I forgot about that.” Levi kept his tone emotionless for fear of having his guilt take over him. In fact, he never did forget about the keychain. It sat on the side table next to his bed, a glimmer of hope that that morning in the track wouldn't be the last time he saw her.
“Maybe I could come back to your dorm with you and get it after this?”
“Oh yeah, I forgot. I’m not going straight to the dorm. I have plans after this.” A blatant lie. Levi rarely forgot plans.
“Really?”
Levi made a show of going through his phone as he sat down. “Sorry, I didn’t check my calendar this morning. It looks like I have to work on my own stuff for my thesis with my groupmates.” Seniors did not have as many classes as lowerclassmen so the excuse for classes probably would not have worked. As Levi also was aware, the weight of the responsibility lost by only having two classes a week was replaced with the weight of the expectation of creating their own research to add to the body of knowledge in their major.
“How long is your meeting? Maybe I could stop by...” Moblit looked unsure about his own suggestion as if he too understood too the importance of thesis for any senior.
“I dunno. It’s our first meeting and it’s pretty important since we still don’t have much planned.” At that moment, Levi thanked the heavens for his course. He was taking an interdisciplinary track so people had the option to do their thesis by group or individually. His choice of his classes had made it so that he had to do his thesis individually. Moblit did not need to know that much though.
The magic word “thesis” eventually did work in the conversation between the two seniors and finally, Moblit had dropped his shoulders in defeat. “Sorry if I’m being a little pushy. I guess that keychain is just pretty important to me too. I was the one who gave it to her.”
Levi studied the face of Moblit as they talked. Molit did not have the most memorable face so Levi had not figured it out at first glance. As he allowed himself a few seconds to focus on his features and match it to those in his dream, he realized that Moblit was the same soldier who was constantly following Hange in his dreams. “You two must be close,” Levi said. Hange and I were close too.
"We're childhood friends.”
Levi found himself envying Moblit’s place in Hange’s life. Not wanting to engage that thought though, he instead decided to digress into something more positive for him. “So you'd know why she seemed pretty enthusiastic about her thesis.”
“She’s just passionate and gets a little too excited at times.” Moblit gave an embarrassed smile from what could have been second hand embarrassment. “I really hope you didn’t end up hating her. She really wanted to get to know you.”
“Oh really?” Then why doesn’t she. Levi added to himself.
“She’s been studying athletes since we were in high school. One of our friends was actually the subject of our final thesis for high school and Hange won best research with her. She wanted to move on to studying more high level athletes and she was talking non stop about the possibility of working with an athlete here. Then when we were scouting around for athletes to possibly study, she started showing me a lot of videos of you. She could talk non stop about your form, the height you achieved, your body control. I guess that was until you guys ended up meeting...” Moblit looked like he was aware of the weight of that statement and had tried to lighten the mood with a light laugh.
Levi rearranged that last sentence in his head. Until she met me.
Moblit had trailed off from there and Levi wondered how what kind of face he was making for Moblit to realize he had felt guilty about it.
Moblit gave Levi a consoling look. “She seems to be progressing well with Elijah though.”
For a second, Levi could not fathom how Moblit got the idea that that sentence could console him. In fact, just knowing that Hange had gotten over him so fast, had his chest knotting up.
On the outside though, he made sure to raise his eyebrows and nod, to look at least a little surprised and interested. “How’s her research so far?”
Moblit shook his head in amazement. “She's working at a much faster pace than I am. After what happened with you, it’s pretty admirable she bounced back so fast.”
“I don’t hate her. I could work with her if she really wants to.”
“God, this makes me think I should have started earlier." Moblit rested his forehead on his palm. "Your suggestion might be hard... Last time I checked, she was neck deep in her research with Elijah already.”
Even as a senior, there were places on campus Levi had never visited. All of his classes were clustered in one small area of the campus.  The track he would rush to train in would be just a five minute walk away, his dorm a fifteen minute walk or a five minute bike.
He never had any reason to visit the other side which housed the science students and the laboratories. Possibly, one of the reasons why he had never met Hange until that day in the track.
It was a ten minute walk from his dormitory, in a completely different direction from his buildings and the track. He decided to abandon his bike for the more flexible option of walking. He did not know if they had have any place to park a bike nor how long he would be there. More importantly, he wanted the freedom of slowing his pace without considering the traffic as he took in the unfamiliar scenery.
Third floor. Fritz Hall.
In fact, he did not need the directions to the biology department. He could have easily asked anyone among the students there. The more important information was the room number and the laboratory name.
He clutched the keychain in his pocket and  took the stairs two at a time arriving into a narrow corridor that stretched into both directions.
Thesis labs. Or that was how Mobilit described them. Each biology professor managed a laboratory for students. There were those who focused on internal medicine, those who focused on epidemiology. In each of those rooms was an office and a lab for senior students doing research under the guidance of a professor of a similar specialty.
If he wanted to find Hange, the office was their best chance. Room 301. It would be at one of the ends of the corridors. He only had to figure out the order of the numbers and from there, walk towards the end of the hall. He gripped the handle of the door and pushed it down, only pushing slightly at the door to open a crack wide enough to peek in.
“May I help you?”
“You’re Erwin Smith…” Just like with Hange, Levi had quickly picked up the name as he saw him.
“Yes I am. Nice to meet you.” Erwin did not look surprised to see that someone had named him by face. That was enough of a hint for Levi to realize that that man was probably their professor on top of how he dressed and how he carried himself.
“I’m looking for Hange Zoe.” Levi decided at that moment not to lie. He was sure he could find a reason to justify wanting to give it directly to Hange. He did not want to consider it at that moment. He just wanted to see her.
“She has class now but you can wait for her inside the lab." He gave Levi a onceover. You must be Elijah then.”
Levi gave a subtle nod, hoping Erwin would at least not take that as a full yes later on. At that point in time, he just wanted to minimize the questions he might need to answer. HIs heart was beating hard and his mind was racing. He had gone behind Moblit’s back, taking note of the schedule shared to him and picking a time where Moblit would not be in the office. Pretense and lies were nothing new to Levi but the presence of Erwin in the room particularly made Levi feel dirty for going through all that just to meet one person. With Erwin in front of him, for the first time he felt guilty lying.
"It's obvious from your build that you've been jumping and running your whole life. I hope you could give Hange some good data. All she’s been talking about was this study since I agreed to take her in."
“What’s her research about?” Was she enjoying working with Elijah so far? Was she happy? There were too many things Levi had wanted to ask but he found himself treading along the narrow path of things only Elijah would have known.
Erwin looked at him questioningly. “She wants to do a case study. I expected she’d at least tell you that much.” He shook his head and smiled. “She always had trouble explaining science jargon to the average person.”
Levi wanted to kick himself. Erwin at least answered his own question on any suspicion he might have about Levi (or Elijah.)
“Elijah, do me a favor and ask her yourself. I’d rather Hange also learned how to communicate science to the average person.” Erwin tapped Levi on the shoulder. “Make yourself at home. NIfa’s in the laboratory right now so she can keep you company. You can also use the computer while waiting.”
Levi only noticed the book bag Erwin was holding to his side as he looked back at him. He could not help but feel a bout of disappointment as he saw the professor walk away. It felt like there was still a lot to learn from him.
Levi entered the laboratory to find a woman with auburn hair hunched over a microscope. “Where’s Erwin going?” He asked.
“Erwin?” Nifa looked up from her  “Doctor Smith you mean?”
Nifa. That’s her name. Oddly, Levi did not need to ask for her name either.
Nifa only confirmed it a second later after chastising him for calling Erwin his first name. ‘Doctor Smith did not roll out of Levi’s tongue as well as Erwin. The most Levi could hope for was he never faced a situation where he had to call him by name again. A long shot if he ended up working with Hange or Moblit. At the same time, a worry he did not want to occupy himself with again.
“Hange’s class ends at two so you’re gonna have to wait an extra thirty minutes. You can use the computer over there to pass the time.”
Levi looked down at his phone to see only one bar on the upper right.
“Yeah, problems about being stationed at the corner of the building. No signal. And the wifi is only strong enough for a laptop.” Nifa gestured at her own laptop next to the microscope.
Levi walked towards the computer. It was an older model but it looked well loved. He only had to click on his mouse for the screen to boot up to the home screen with some desktop background which looked like some campaign for underprivileged kids and untapped potentials.
He clicked on the google chrome icon. The option to restore pages from a previous session popped up. He had considered completely ignoring it but he considered it might be someone’s precious browsing history and instead decided to leave it on and to just open an incognito instead for his own personal browsing
He was ready to open one up when he saw the tabs that had opened up in front of him.
Ackerman bags gold, Miller silver in the Collegiate Cup.
Levi looked to the profile on the right to see that it was Hange’s Google profile logged into the account. She was researching him?
That small glimmer of what could have been happiness dissipated as soon as Levi figured out the pattern of the articles.
It wasn’t about him.
High Jump Superstar Miller breaks record in high school meet.
Miller commits to Paradis University.
College sophomore Miller bags gold in Horizontal Jump Event.
It was torture looking through the multiple tabs that reopened. As painful as it was, he still  wanted to confirm if Hange really was ‘neck deep’ in her research. The bookmarked pages, he also decided to take a peek at had confirmed his fear. There were fifty if not a hundred tabs with article titles mentioning that one athlete.
Levi found himself closing the tabs as he went through them, a small rebellion to the reality in front of him. Hange probably bookmarked them if she needed them anyway. He stopped as he came across a Youtube video towards the end of the string of tabs.
WATCH: College Junior Ackerman beats both personal and national record for the High Jump Category.
Rookie Ackerman bags gold in the Regional Cup with record breaking height.
Levi recognized those tournaments. Those were his best jumps, one of them the most recent one he had performed, only earlier that year.
Watching the videos with the commentary felt surreal. In the interviews, he was the one answering the questions but somehow, Levi felt like he was still learning something new from the version of himself of the screen. He never did pay too much attention during interviews, only asking the questions when asked in the manner Coach Greg had directed him too.
Not wanting to confuse himself any longer with what seemed like another out of body experience, he focused again on Hange’s Gmail account which was logged into Youtube. Just to make sure his conclusion had been real. She was still watching his videos.
She had committed to working with Elijah. Why?
“Miller was slated to be the new superstar in Paradis University with a vertical jump of 8 centimeters  and a promising record height differential of 40 centimeters.”
Levi jumped as he heard someone talk behind him. How long has she been there? It was her voice. Yet at the same time, it was too uncharacteristically serious he did not want to believe it was her. As Levi slowly looked behind me, she only continued to talk.
“But then four years ago, Coach Gregory Rivers scouts a new kid from a small town five hours away from the city. The kid had potential. Enough potential to maybe play backup to Elijah Miller. Levi Ackerman with a vertical leap of 76 centimeters and a record height differential of 37 centimeters.”
“Elijah Miller had a higher overall record. Mike Zacharias and Nanaba Briete too." Mike Zacharias and Nanaba Briete . Those were the two athletes who had cooperated with Hange's study back in high school. Levi had made sure to read her old research, in case he would have to use them to convince her to reconsider him.
“Your numbers in high school weren’t groundbreaking. Unless we consider that you’re 157 centimeters tall." The wonder was back in her voice, completely replacing what he realized was the scientist in her talking. "You did not have the height but you had remarkable control, the core strength, the leg power and the flexibility to fly over the bar even when you’re so close to it. That was what Gregory Rivers saw in you when he scouted you for Paradis University. What he didn't expect was for you to outshine Miller or even the seniors."
Hange came up behind him and grabbed the mouse. As Levi watched her go through the bookmarks, he realized if he had scrolled further, he would have seen more bookmarks.
Rookie Ackerman bags gold in the Regional Cup.
Super rookie carries Paradis to nationals.
She clicked one of the bookmarks and played the the video that came up. Levi could only watch silently as the Levi on the screen ran towards the bar, and propelled himself through the air. His vertical was definitely much higher than 37 centimeters at that point. In college though, no one in his team was counting anymore. The importance was he got through every jump without ever touching the bar.
"I wanna know Levi. From a nobody from a no name school, how did your height differential increase twofold. More importantly, how is it that you've not failed a single jump since you entered university? It's amazing. The amount of balance, core strength and body control to keep your body flexible enough not to hit the bar. The amount of leg strength needed to jump that high. You really must be superhuman.”
“I’m not.” Regretfully, Levi’s denial was enough for Hange to snap out of her state of what seemed like euphoria.
Hange put her hand to her mouth. "Sorry, I talked too much." With that, she resisted the closeness and was once again a meter away just standing awkwardly behind him. "I guess I should go back to work. Did Moblit tell you what time he'll be coming?"
"Moblit's not coming today."
"Oh... Can I help you with something?" Once again, Hange was watching her words and her movements with him. That was not the Hange from his dreams. The Hange that had introduced herself the first time they had met on the track. It pained Levi to see her like that and he wanted to make it right.
Levi had prepared himself for possible interactions when he read through Hange's old works. At that moment, Levi took control of his feelings. " I came here because I wanted to ask if you'd be willing to consider." He kept his words as careful as Hange's were with him. "I read your case study on Nanaba Briete and Mike Zacharius. And I thought I could probably provide you with similar data, maybe better data. Let me jump for you."
"Levi…"
"No. I wanna jump for you." Levi did not know what Hange had planned to say. At that point, he did not want to give her any doubts to build on.
This time I'm not going to lose you. A voice inside him said. It disappeared soon after and Levi wondered when he had he lost her.

Ah this exchange... Despite the fact that you knew his name, you kept a cold-bloodedness that amused him. and your face when you faced him through the window...
“...ed...”
Your eyes so big that he could read your fear, the firm grip of your hand on the phone, those lips so thin and this skin so soft that he would love to …
“Jed! Hey Jed are you there? Hellooooo ? Jeddyyy ...”
Melina's voice brought Danny out of his thoughts, making him blink several times while looking at her. it must be said that he did not stop that night coming home late enough and having slept just enough not to be tired. He stretched and put himself back in his seat, putting his glasses back in place.
“Sorry. What did you say?” He said rubbing his eyes.
“I said that we should find something about Hoggin’s computer in his office. Or in his desk. But it won't be easy to go into his office without attracting the attention of his gorillas. He paid the best in terms of bodyguards. You're really going to have to be careful not to get caught.” responds Melina by checking her notebook.
“Yeah yeah...Sure.”
“You look completely in the clouds since this morning. Are you sure everything's okay? Did you at least sleep?” ask Mattew worried.
“Of course. Otherwise, I would be a real zombie with dark circles at the size of a balloon.” replied Jed with a little laugh.
“I'd say our little nerd is spending his night dreaming about someone. I don't know... A certain girl who runs the Nebula?” said Melina with a corner smile.
“What? Come on... Don't start with that. I have already told you that I consider her as a good friend and a good neighbour. And it stops there. I'm too busy with the job to think about that.”
“Yes, well maybe you should think about your personal life more than your professional life. otherwise, you'll be a poor 50-year-old guy who lives with five cats. Look at Mattew he almost ended up like this if I hadn't convinced him to throw his feelings at Chris. How's he doing by the way?”
“Hey! One, we already have 3 cats with Chris and maybe we'll have another and two ... He's fine. He's a little stressed out because of his mother's surgery. Although I try to reassure him that everything is going to be all right, he can't help but think of the worst. And we can't say his job makes things right for him. He's dealing with clients who are real assholes on the phone sometimes.” answers Mattew.
“Poor guy. I hope everything will be fine.” said Jed.
“Anyway, it's not halfway through your life that you're going to have to think about your love situation, Jed. So put the work-obsessed nerd aside a little bit and take care of yourself. You're far away, VERY far to be ugly.”
Danny rolls his eyes before refocusing on his work. But at the same time Mike landed both furious and worried before locking himself in his office. No one knew why he was in this state, but Danny might have an idea. Whispers were heard and Mike's colleagues Karen and Thomas chatted in their corner, a little out of sight. When they saw Melina's insistent gaze, telling them to come, they looked at each other, exchanged two three words, and then resigned themselves to getting closer to the trio.
“What happens to Mike? You threw his four truths in his face or what?” ask Melina.
“No... It’s just...You know Mike. He can be really upset for nothing sometimes. Answer shyly Karen.
“Frankly, even I don't believe what you're saying here! Mike's been like this since last night. He received a threatening letter.” replied Thomas.
“Wow...how surprised I am! I'm surprised it happens to him when everyone here dreams of one thing: blowing his mouth.” said Melina ironically.
“it's not a letter from someone in the office... It's a letter from Ghostface.”
Jed doesn't react, but Danny made his most devilish smile. Once again, he was right and once again, he gloats inwardly imagining the face of that dear Mike as he read the letter. It must be said that what Danny had written... wasn't really very tender.
But it had done him a great deal of good to let go of his anger and frustration in this letter, something he could and cannot do by being Jed. And the game doesn't end there. Oh no... Danny intends to make him suffer...until his last breath. But first, he has to kill McKellan. The hours went by and when the lunch break arrived, our trio went out to settle down at a small dinner in the area.
“Dude sometimes I wonder how you eat so much. You're not human, I'm telling you! Did you see the size of your burger? I'm sure if they did it in size XXL you would eat it without an eyebrow!” said Melina eating a French fry before noticing Jed lost in his though again. “Don’t worry, you’ll see her today. it's been a while since I want to go to the Nebula ... with everything I hear on it, I want to check for myself if her coffee and cakes are really better than old Joe's. I'm surprised that you offered her to come with us to the Hoggins reception. I wonder why...”
That's a question neither Jed nor Danny could answer. Why did he ask you to come? Certainly, to get to know you better, to get closer to you, like the spider approaching its prey ready to taste it starting with the bowels. But wasn't there another reason? A reason deeper, more obscure than either dared to admit. a reason more... Personal? Danny immediately chased this idea out of his mind, he did it for the only purpose of deciding if he would let you live, or not.
They left dinner after an hour, Mattew dragging his feet a little, completely full, his belly ready to explode. Melina made fun of him while Danny felt stuck by his colleague's remark. A little stalk tonight will clear his mind.
As they entered the Nebula, they noticed that the room was practically full and that you were running around. But curiously we had no delays or any unscathed customers. As if having a little challenge or difficulty amused you even more than if everything was simple.
“Welcome to the Nebula! Where our pastries come from Outerspace!” you said before noticing Jed’s face. “Hey Jed! How are you? Are these two people with you?”
“A little tired but I’ll be fine. Yeah, this is Melina and Mattew, they want to check if what they say about your coffee is true. And yet I kept saying it.”
“Oh, you’re Jed’s colleagues and friends?? It's a real pleasure to finally meet you! Jed keeps telling me that his job would be boring if you weren't there. Settle in! I'll take care of you right away!” you replied with a bright smile.
“Oh, yeah? I keep it very deep in my memory.” said Melina with smirk.
The trio sat at a free table at the bottom of the café against the glass. Mattew let go a sigh of relief, finally happy to be able to land and lay like a toad in his seat. Melina was seated next to him sneering at her colleague's position. Danny sighed as he shook his head. Not one to catch up with the other.
You head to them with the notebook and pen in hand to take their order: A March cake and a Latte for Melina, a Neptune's pie and a Cappuccino for Mattew, and finally a Chocolate Jupiter's Thunder and a long coffee with sugar and cream for Jed. It only took you a few minutes to prepare their orders and bring them all to their tables. While smiling at them you leave at the counter you take care of two other customers.
“Young, your age I'd say maybe two years younger, pretty but not the kind to let herself walk on either. I think I'm beginning to understand why you invited him to accompany us to the reception.” laughs Melina before receiving a shot in the knee from Jed. “ouch! Okay that’s fair. Oh, shit I just realized that I'm going to need a proper outfit... I'll be surprised if they let us in with jeans and sneakers.”
“I don’t like the suits I feel like a penguin. But Chris must have one... we're doing the same size.” Respond Mattew.
“I have one too. I needed to wear one when I was working as a journalist in Missouri.” Replied Jed.
“By the way, what do you think of the Ghostface threat letter? I think it's crazy anyway. I wonder if Mike did anything to him in particular to get his attention.”
“He's an asshole, narcissistic, self-absorbed, violent, willing to do anything to get what he wants... Do you want me to keep going or is that enough for you?” Replied Melina.
“Anyway, if he provoked Ghostface it's too bad for him. He will have looked for it. Sooner or later, you always reap what you sow.” continues Jed without empathy.
“Ghostface?” You said making them turn to you slightly surprised. “He attacked someone again?”
“He wrote a letter to one of our colleagues. and obviously it's not very pretty. Why, you're in trouble with him, too?” ask Mattew
“Well, he...He calls me last night. We talk a little and... he said to me that if I’m talking to the police, I’ll be his next victim. But for the moment he’ll spare me.” you answer slightly trembling.
“Why Didn't you come to see me? or call me? Things could have been different if I had been there.” Replied Jed worried while Danny held back a devilish smile.
“I wanted to hang up but if I had done it, he would have killed you ... Sorry. I didn't want to bother you with that.”
“Oh... I see. I'm the one who's sorry you did what you thought was right. But if it ever starts again... call me or come to my house. We can always talk about it.”
You smiled at him and after a few minutes the trio paid the bill and left your coffee. the rest of the day went quietly, Mike being locked in his office all day, no one had seen him even his colleagues. Danny went home doing two or three little things before leaving discreetly at night to do his second "work". He knew Mike's address by heart, having "politely" copied it from his notebook while searching Mike's office one day when Mike was not working.
He couldn't help but smile as he thought of you slightly trembling when talking about your little conversation with Ghostface. that's the kind of feeling, emotions Danny likes to see about his prey. This feeling of insecurity that he gives you without knowing that he is the author... Perfect. Maybe in the end he won't kill you. He will frighten you, remind you of his existence... but won't kill you. Just enough for you to trust only one person. Him.
He parked in a rather secluded place, not far from Mike's house, his bag in hand to change into Ghostface and got out of the car. From there he entered the house. He was planning to leave a... little gift to Mike. A gift he doesn't intend to forget anytime soon.
He placed the small package on the counter and took a bucket. a bucket filled with blood that he had hidden well. He stayed for a few minutes and once his masterpiece was completed, he took several pictures and returned to the car. He then saw him come out of his room and down the stairs. It's time to turn up the arterial tension of this dear Mike. With a disposable phone he dialled the number and while waiting for, a mean smile to appear on his face.
“Hello?” said Mike
“Hello Mikey... Did you like my letter?” respond Danny.
“You son of b***! Do you know where you can put your threats?? Do you think you're scaring me??”
“I conclude that you did not like my letter... I suspected it a little. I would have been more... Sincere. I have a little present for you. On the counter.”
“Go f*** yourself. If I caught you...”
“You're not nice. I give you a present and you don't even bother to open it? I'm disappointed in you.”
He then saw Mike walk to the counter and open the small package and back off both frightened and enraged.
“you... How did you get those pictures??? You... You broke into my house, you bastard!!!!” He replied
"and more than once. If these images arrived at your boss’s office ... That would be the end of your career. Though... You could still make a career in prison. You're good at lying. Oh, and I'm sorry about your walls. I put some blood on it.” respond Danny.
Mike turned and saw the bloody inscriptions: Pedophile. Drug addict.
“You only get what you deserve Mikey. And believe me... It's nothing compared to what awaits you. I intend to make you regret every moment of your life until your last breath. Did you want to be the star? Know that the only star in this city Mike... It’s ME. See you soon Mike... have a beautiful dream.” laughs Danny before hangs up the phone.
His laughter got louder, more diabolical when he saw from his car, Mike throwing everything away. Seeing him explode with rage made Danny even more ecstatic. Killing him will be a real bloody pleasure because not only will he take revenge for all the blows he has taken, but he will also rid the country of a disguised plague of society.
He restarted the car with a demonic smile on his lips, ideas just as twisted as each other. He'd stalk you a little bit tonight, but he had another victim to watch tonight.
And his name was Horace McKellan. Death is getting closer Horace...
And soon you’ll embrace her in such a painful agony...
But also, desirable.
***
(Done! I’ll hope you’ll enjoy it as always! And remember! If you got some questions just ask!  See ya! )

New Suits
Peter Parker x reader (but it's not a Peter x reader themed fic), Avengers x teen reader.
Word count: 3.4k
Summary: Y/n Stark and Peter Parker have planned the ultimate movie night together, but something gets in their way.
Warnings: body insecurities, angst I guess, mentions of weight and stretch marks, stuff like that. Both the reader and Peter are 18 years old.
A/n: Hello :) this is way more of an avengers x reader fic rather than a Peter x reader fic, but I needed the reader to be connected to Peter in a certain way so why not! Enjoy, my peeps - Honey
Tumblr media
The clock ticked menacingly as you twirled the pencil you were holding between your fingers; last period on a Friday was always history with Mr Smith, and you hated it. Peter sat on the desk next to you and you could tell he was just as bored as you were, tapping his fingers against the polished wood table, staring into space. There were only three minutes left of class, and you were going to stay at Peter and May's apartment overnight to have a movie marathon, you couldn't be any more excited. As soon as the analogue clock on the wall turned to 2:58, you felt a vibration in your pocket and heard Peter's phone 'ding' in his pocket next to you, causing your teacher to turn around with a stern expression.
"I shouldn't have to remind you all of the one classroom rule," Mr Smith barked towards the class, "phones off." Once he turned back to face the whiteboard behind him, Peter turned to you with a confused look. Sneakily taking your phone out of your pocket, you saw a message from Jarvis:
"Happy Hogan is waiting outside for Y/N Stark and Peter Parker."
You silently showed Peter your phone before putting it into your backpack. What could Tony, or the Avengers, possibly want that'd ruin your weekend with Peter?
The bell rang piercingly through the classroom, and you packed up your bag.
"I can't believe we leave school in four months, it's crazy!" Peter started, shoving his textbook into his beige backpack. "One thing I certainly will not miss is this dreadful class." Peter kept his voice quiet, making sure your professor hadn't heard his snarky comment. Laughing, you and Peter walked out of class and down the corridor, towards to main exit.
"Why do you think Tones sent a car for us?" You asked, walking through the large double doors and into the sunlight. Both of you spotted Happy stood next to his car and headed towards the car park. "I haven't got a clue. But I'm sure Mr Stark," Peter emphasized, slightly disapproving of the nickname you gave your dad, "has a perfectly good reason. Besides, we'll probably only be at the tower for a couple of hours, right?" Nodding, you both walked up to the grey Audi.
"Hey Happy." You exclaimed with a smile. Once you all got in and buckled up, you took Peter's hand, and Happy began to drive out of the school grounds. "D'you know why Mr Stark wants us, Happy?" Peter asked, looking out of the window. Sighing, Happy looked into the rearview mirror to see you both. "I don't know." He said, looking back at the busy New York traffic, "Something about a suit update? I've been instructed to drive you both back to May's house at 9pm, so it can't be anything too important." You clenched up at the mention of a suit update, dreading what you were in for tonight.
You thought back to last year, remembering what exactly happened last time you got a new suit. You were quite insecure about your body, always wearing baggy clothes to hide it, but you couldn't always escape the sight of your own figure. To get a new suit, you need to have measurements taken, and the measurements have to be done in your underwear. You weren't fussy about having your measurements taken, as it was usually your dad that did it, but you'd recently been quite stressed about your appearance and weren't in the mood to do anything of the sorts today. Just this once, it didn't help that it was your father taking the measurements, either: you worried that if you became too fat or ugly, he would hate you. Considering you all were one big family, you wouldn't mind Bruce or Natasha doing it instead, so you were ought to ask them if they'd do it this time, to save any unwanted embarrassment in front of your father.
Soon enough, you got to the Avengers tower and headed straight for the common area. There, everybody was sat, waiting for Tony to arrive; Nat, Clint, Bruce, Steve, Sam, Bucky, and Rhodey. Peter sat down on one of the sofas, greeting everyone as he did so, but you stood in the door frame placing your backpack on the floor. "Nat, do you mind if I talk to you for a second?" Everybody turned to you, and Nat nodded with a smile. "Sure." She replied, hopping out of her seat and walking towards you. Nobody else was really phased by you and Natasha always spending time with each other, as you both were the main female avengers, and you saw her as a badass aunt. You began to walk down the hall, Nat to your right, taking slow steps.
"What's the matter, Y/n?" She asked, tucking a stray strand of crimson hair behind her ear. Stopping in the middle of the hall, you turned to face Natasha, a slight blush making its way to your cheeks - there was no easy way to say what was on your mind.
"I know this sounds really odd, but I was wondering if you'd take my measurements later on?" She looked slightly puzzled, but nodded anyway. You knew she'd want to know why, so you explained before she could ask.
"I'm just a little...insecure, that's all. I don't really want Tony judging me or my body, that's all." Her expression turned from puzzled to sympathetic, a slight hint of disappointment in her eyes. Uncomfortable, you looked down and stared at your worn out red converse.
"Y/n, you know your dad would never judge you, for any reason." You looked up at her as she rested a hand on your shoulder. "I'd really like to help you out, but I'm not qualified to take any measurements or information for Tony's work. Bruce helps to make the suits as well, y'know, and I could ask him if he'd do yours?" She spoke gently, stroking the side of your bare shoulder. You nodded, giving Nat a small smile. "That would be really nice. Thank you." Both of turned around and walked back to the common area. Just before you walked through the door, Nat turned to you and spoke. "You'll have to talk to Tony about this, okay? He's the best person to help you on this, and it might be good for you to get it off your chest." Nodding, you walked back into the common area.
You were sat on the grey sofa talking to Bucky when Tony walked in. Natasha quickly told Bruce what was going on when you went back into the common area, and he was happy to help, but you still felt a sense of nervousness like you had betrayed your father. Tony carried a piece of paper and a cup of coffee with him when he walked into the common area, sitting down on a chair.
"As you all know, we're doing new suit measurements and prototypes this afternoon, so you all need to be in the tower until 9." He spoke, talking a long swig of his coffee. "We should get measurements done by 6, and from then I'll need you to stay and give me information about anything new you want in your suits and stuff like that." He waved the sheet of paper he held and looked down to read from it, "This is a schedule that I beg you all to stick by otherwise I will lose my sanity even more than I already have. Clint, you're first to get measurements done in the lab, then you'll be followed by Steve, Sam, Bucky, Rhodey, Pete, Natasha and Y/n last." You swallowed hard when you heard him say your name, and tried not to think about the conversation you'd be having with him later on.
"Bruce and I are gonna go down to the labs now and set up. Clint, we'll need you down in about 10, capiche?" Bruce gave you a small smile before they both headed down to the labs, and with that, they were gone.
You watched as your colleagues left and came back, all indifferent to everything that had happened to them. You sat next to Peter, playing rock paper scissors until he had to go and get his fittings, when you talked to Natasha for a bit. When she was sent down to get her measurements, a wave of anxiety washed over you. You were next, and although you knew your dad wasn't going to see you, you still felt butterflies. Suddenly, Jarvis made an announcement on the speakers. "Miss Stark, Tony and Bruce require your presence in the laboratory."
Sheepishly, you rose from the sofa and said goodbye to whoever had returned from the lab and sat next to you - you hadn't paid attention. Once you got to the lab and opened the door, the only person you saw was Bruce.
"Hey Bruce." He looked up from his computer and smiled at you, rising from his stool.
"Hi y/n. Everything is set up in the next room, go in there and follow what Jarvis says, call me in when you're ready." You didn't reply, but walked to the door on the other side of the lab.
You knew this room all too well; it was the 'personal study' lab. It was more of an empty office than a lab, as it was only double the size of an elevator, but it had a small desk with some stray sheets of paper and pencils on top of it. It was rarely used, but when it was, it was for measurements, fittings, trying on new suits, practically anything that would require privacy. In the centre of the room was a small stool about a foot high. Before you could think anything of it Jarvis piped up;
"Good evening, Miss Stark. Please remove all unnecessary clothing. Do not remove your underwear. Then step onto the stool and await instructions."
Hesitantly, you kicked off your shoes and socks. You pulled your red crop over your head and threw it into the corner of the room, and began unbuttoning your high waisted jeans. You slipped your feat out of the wide leg trousers, leaving yourself in a black t-shirt bra and pants. Sighing, you walked over and stood on the small grey stool, relaxing your shoulders. "Jarvis, tell Dr Banner that I'm ready." You could hear Jarvis speak to Bruce in the lab, and within 10 seconds you hear a knock on the door. You answered, and Bruce walked in, carrying a tape measure and a small piece of paper.
"Are you ready to get started?" He asked, looking up at you. Taking a deep breath, you tried to relax all of your muscles. "Ready as I'll ever be." Bruce set down the piece of paper on the desk and began by measuring your waist, hips, and bust. When he got to your arms, you began to wonder where Tony was.
"How did you convince Tony to let you do my measurements?" You asked, trying to stay as still as possible. Without looking up, Bruce answered.
"I knew he wouldn't buy it if I asked to do only yours, so I did everyone's." He moved the tape measure over to your other arm, briefly jotting down a note on the sheet of paper. "What? You've actually done everyone else's?" He nodded, walking behind you to measure your legs. "It would seem suspicious if I only wanted to take your measurements, and nobody else minded me doing it. I told Tony that he should stay in the lab and start preparing ideas for the suits. He's just gone to make more coffee, that's why he isn't here at the moment. He'll probably be back any minute, though." Nodding, you were plunged back into silence. You didn't mind the awkward silence between you both, as he was family, but you wish you could try and start a conversation to distract you from your worries. Unfortunately, your mind went blank.
Ten minutes later, you were finished, and Bruce told you that you could step down from the stool. Before he left to let you change back into your clothes, he turned around to look at you.
"I know things are tricky, and it's not easy to appreciate yourself, but I just want you to know...we're proud of you. All of us, we love you so much."
You smiled slightly and nodded, and Bruce left.
Once you had out all of your clothes back on, you slowly opened the door back to the lab. There, you saw Bruce typing away at his computer and Tony, sat down at one of the desks, sketching out a suit on a large piece of paper. Tony only noticed you when you were halfway through the lab, and he put down his pencil. "Hey honey, you alright?" He asked, turning his swivel chair to face you. Already uncomfortable by the sight of him, you gave him a quick hug and slowly walked to the exit. "I'm fine, thanks, but I've gotta go for a shower. Talk to you in a bit!" You quickly backed into the corridor and speed walked to the elevator, making your way to the penultimate floor.
The elevator music today was a mix between jazz and swing - a mix that you despised. You took after your father, favouring classic rock over nimby-pimby music like this. When you got to your floor, the doors opened, and you were greeted with your room. Fairy lights and polaroids were strung around your double bed, an array of CD's and books littered across your desks. You were thankful that your room had an en suite, walking into the large bathroom. You ran the water until it was scalding hot, changed out of your clothes, and got in.
You were in the shower for no longer than twenty minutes before you heard, yet again, Jarvis reciting a message to you.
"Miss Stark, Tony is waiting for you in your room."
Groaning, you stopped the water and dried yourself off with a light pink towel. You put on a pair of pyjamas that you had thrown into the bathroom with you, brushed your hair in the mirror, and went back into your room. There, you saw your dad sat on your bed, admiring a CD.
"I'm definitely borrowing this." Tony stated, chucking the Nirvana album he was holding onto the bed.
"What're you doing here?" You asked, plopping yourself on your bed next to him, admiring your father as he scratched at his chin. "Gingey told me you wanted to have a talk, right?" Laughing nervously at the nickname you had coined for Nat when you were only a few years old, you picked at the skin around your fingernails.
"Right. Well, I had a problem, but now it's solved so I'm all good! You should probably go back to the lab now and do some more work." You rushed your words, desperate to get rid of Tony as quick as you could. However, he merely sighed, and sat up straight. He looked at you with an expression that almost literally read "I'm so fucking done with your woke-ass bullshit", which made you feel inferior.
"If you think I'm buying that, then you're definitely not a Stark. Try again, Y/n."
Before he could say another word, you rose from where you were sat. "Y'know, I think I might go and talk to mom about this. It's kind of a girl problem, Pepper will get it. See ya!" You quickly walked to the elevator door, and just as the doors closed behind you, you heard Tony mutter something about Pepper being on a business trip.
Shit.
From the elevator, you jogged down to the common area in hopes to find either Peter or Nat. However, when you arrived, the only person there was Sam, lounging on one of the sofas, scrolling through his phone. Groaning, you went to sit next to him, and rubbed your forehead.
"Hey honey, what's up?" He asked, sitting up straighter. Without looking at him, you shook your head, and replied. "I've had a pretty wild fucking day." Sam quietly laughed but tried to convince you that he was serious, pulling a stern expression.
"Ay, there's no need for that kind of language. Talk to me." He didn't turn his phone off, but placed it behind him on the arm of the sofa. You didn't bother to look and see what was on the screen.
Huffing, you turned around and sat criss-cross applesauce to face him.
"I don't like getting a new suit."
"...that's it?" He asked, frowning slightly. "Yes, that's it. I haven't been feeling like myself lately, and having to get a new suit fitted is just another reminder that my body will never be like every other girls. I'm ugly, I have a bit of stomach, stretch marks, there isn't a-"
"Ugly?" He interrupted, pulling a sour face. You nodded slightly, not knowing what else to say. "Y/n, you aren't ugly. And so what if you have stretch marks, or aren't a size zero? You aren't expected to look like a Victoria's secret model 24/7. Besides, you are beautiful in your own way. You were raised by a group of superheroes who save the world every week, you have the smarts of Tony Stark, the fierceness of Natasha and the morals of Captain America himself. Your body doesn't define your self worth, and it doesn't define who you are."
You were slightly taken aback by how good Sam was with words, but you gave him a small smile anyway.
"You should write poetry." You said, giggling slightly.
"Get your ass out of here before I push you out of the window, just for that comment." Laughing even more, you stood up and walked over to the door.
"And y/n," Sam added as you turned around, "go talk to Tony about this. He'll be pleased to hear it."
Pleased? Your dad would be pleased to hear that you're cripplingly self conscious of your body? Not focusing too much on the thought, you walked over to the elevator.
"Jarvis, where's Tony?" You asked, walking into the lift. Jarvis's voice was soon to reply.
"Tony is in Miss Stark's bedroom." Sighing, you pushed a button on the lift, and leaned back against the cool metal.
"Of course he is."
The elevator doors opened to reveal Tony on one side of your room, his back to you, admiring your shelf packed with books. He didn't have to turn around to know that it was you in the elevator.
"I find it slightly offensive that you can talk about it with Sam but not with me." You stalked over to your large white bed and threw yourself on it, staring at the plain ceiling above you.
"Talk about what?" You asked, looking over at your father. He walked over to the beanbag beside your bed and gently sat down on it. "Your feelings, opinions, thoughts, normal teenager stuff." He had a look on his face, as if he knew everything that was going on inside your head.
"How do you know what I talked to Sam about?" You questioned, sitting up on your shoulders.
"Jarvis picked the entire thing up, I was listening through my phone."
"Oh..." you couldn't be angry at Tony, he was your dad after all. You didn't mind him listening to what you had to say, but you wish you had the bravery to do it face-to-face.
"Listen, I know how it feels to be a teenager, and to have your parents expect too much from you. But your looks don't matter at all to Pep and I. They don't matter to anybody else, either. You have a great personality, and an even better mind, so don't feel like your looks are everything." Nodding, you stood up and walked to where Tony was sat on the beanbag. Offering a hand, you helped him up and stood directly in front of him.
"We love you, y/n. Peter loves you, I love you, Pepper loves you, all of the avengers love you. You just need to try and learn to love yourself." You saw a glint in his eye, recognizing the sincerity behind his words. He pulled you in for a hug and rubbed your back, letting you know that you were safe in his arms.
Maybe today wasn't as bad as you expected it to be.

Another Dream
Omega!Dick Week Day 6: Accidental Pregnancy
Word Count: 1841
Rating: Teen and Up
Warnings: Mpreg and Robincest (obviously)
Pairing: Dick Grayson/Jason Todd
Summary: Jason is in Brazil when a call about Dick collapsing while out on patrol with Damian comes in.
Notes: This seems like it’s going to be angsty, but it’s really just a fluff piece filled with love.
Reminder: Day four’s story is being posted today as well because I didn’t want to spoil this one.
You can also read this on AO3 here
“Hood, come in.”
Jason cringed when the sound of Bruce’s Batman voice came over the comm line he had promised to keep on while he was out in South America with Artemis and Bizarro.  It had been years since he had gone on mission with them, but when they had called asking for help Dick had told them Jason would be there. And despite Jason pointing out that he could make his own decisions, Dick still insisted he go.  Gotham was covered and Bludhaven was good with just Nightwing, but he could call for backup if the need arose.  And James was thirteen, more than capable of looking after himself while Dick was out patrolling the city.  Even though Dick promised to have someone come stay with the teenager while he was out just to calm Jason’s worried.
So, Jason had reluctantly agreed.
That had been almost a week ago and though Jason still worried, the multiple times a day both Dick and James contacted him was enough to get the job done.
“What can I do for you Old Man?”  Jason asked, landing a kick to the chest of one of the thugs in the warehouse he and Bizarro were currently clearing out while Artemis took care of the kids that the scum had been gathering to sell.
“It’s Nightwing. You need to come back as soon as possible.”  Jason froze for a moment before punching the man in front of him and knocking him out cold. A glance toward Bizarro told him that the clone was finishing off the last of the men so Jason could focus on Bruce in his helmet.
“What do you mean ‘It’s Nightwing?’  What. Happened.”  He demanded, drawing Bizarro’s attention as the last guy went down and they were surrounded by silence.
“Birdie okay?”  Jason waved a hand to his partner to ask him to hold on the questions for a moment.
“Flamebird was patrolling with him while Superboy stayed with Jamie.  Nightwing and him were breaking up a bank robbery when Nightwing just dropped.  Red Robin picked the pair up and are headed to Leslie as we speak.”  No reasonable explanation for the drop.  No ‘he had been hit by a bullet’ or ‘he took a nasty punch to the face’.  Just he dropped.
“I’m in fucking Brazil, B,” Jason growled, starting to ziptie the thugs as Bizarro gathered them in a pile for the authorities to apprehend.  “It’s a ten-hour flight!  Unless you have a teleporter on hand.”
“No, you just need to get on a plane.  What airport are you near?  I’ll get your ticket set up.”  Jason spat out their location and he could hear Bruce typing into the computer on the other end.
“Birdie?”
“I don’t know, Bizarro,” Jason admitted carefully.  He knew that even though they had had minimal contact, Bizarro had fond memories of Dick. The clone also knew how much Jason loved Dick and that was enough to love him in his own way.
“You have an hour to get to the airport that’s twenty minutes away, Hood.”  Jason gave a grunt of acknowledgment.  “Do you have an earpiece for the flight so we can contact you once we hear more?”
“Yeah, I’ll set it to the same frequency.”  Bruce confirmed before signing off with a click and Jason lifted the face plate of his helmet.  “Let’s get to Artemis and then I need to run.”  Thankfully, he had all his needed documents for flying already on his person. But would have to have Artemis and Bizarro bring back his other gear when they came back to the states.
“What the Batman say about Birdie?”
“What’s this about Nightwing?”  Artemis called out from her spot next to a group of children.  A group that held a larger number than Jason had assumed, and it made him want to go put some bullets in skulls.
“He collapsed while on patrol with Robin.  They airlifted him to the hospital and B got me a ticket to fly home.  I need you two to bring my gear back when you fly back stateside.  I have to run,” Jason explained as they got closer to the redhead.  The woman looked him over thoughtfully before nodding. Jason removed his helmet the rest of the way and handed it to Bizarro before checking his ID and passport over, zipping his jacket closed to hide the emblem on his chest.  The guns and other various weapons went next and Artemis easily placed them on various spots in her gear.
“This is the close of this case.  We will be heading stateside within 24 hours.  We will contact you as soon as we are in Gotham.”  Jason nodded as he handed over the last of the items that would have him flagged on the flight before thanking them both.
“Just go to Birdie.”
Jason stormed through the front doors of Leslie’s, barely containing his strength so he didn’t break anything.
“Jason!”  Tim stood from his spot in the corner where he was apparently working on his laptop.  “He’s fine!”
“Then why didn’t B say what was wrong?  I’ve been waiting for almost half a fucking day, freaking out on a plane and trying not to be arrested for agitation.  Where is he?” He didn’t bother waiting for a response, pushing through the doors that led to the back.  He had been in this clinic enough times to know his way around.
“Ah Jason, Dick is in here with Bruce and your son,” Leslie waved him over as she stepped into the hallway. “He is fine, Jason.  I promise.  But he asked to keep the issue between me and him until you arrived and that is why you have not received word.  Bruce is, as you can imagine, quite beside himself,” Leslie filled him in as Jason walked quickly toward her and paused at the door.  He took a moment to look through the small window to see his husband sitting up in the bed with a smile on his face, their son curled up next to him on the bed.  Bruce occupied a chair next to the bed and he certainly looked irritated from the way he held himself.
“Jay,” Dick sighed, smiling at the sight of Jason pushing the door open and coming inside.
“Papa!”  James jumped off the bed and bounded over to Jason and immediately Jason picked the boy up into his arms.
“Hey Little Bird,” Jason hugged his son as he walked over to Dick’s bedside.  Leaning down, keeping James in his arms, he pressed a kiss to Dick’s lips and took a deep breath.  Something about his scent was different.  Not bad, and definitely familiar, but different.
“Bruce, James, would you two mind leaving the room for a moment while I have a discussion with Dick and Jason?”  Jason watched Bruce scowl, but James let himself be set down and headed for the door, almost like he already knew what Leslie had to say.
“B really, once Jay knows, we’ll tell everyone.  Just let me tell my husband,” Dick coaxed Bruce into leaving.  The older man sighed, but kept the scowl on as he walked out of the room. Jason shook his head before looking back to Dick and taking his hand.
“What’s wrong?  I have been freaking out since Bruce called and I need someone to throw me a bone here.”  Dick chuckled and Jason looked at him, ignoring Leslie.  If he had to describe the way Dick looked and how he smelled, Jason would say happy.  Maybe a little nervous, but definitely happy.
“You might want to sit, Jay,” Dick waved to the chair next to Jason.  Though he was suspicious, Jason took the advice and sat in the chair without releasing Dick’s hand.  “I’m perfectly healthy, there’s nothing wrong with me.”
“Then why did you collapse on patrol?”
“I’m pregnant.”
Jason’s world came to a halt as he processed the information. Pregnant.  But they had decided after James they weren’t going to have another.  It had been too hard on Dick’s body.  He had been miserable and sick the entire time, bedridden for the majority of the final trimester.  And the labor and delivery had been worse.  They had almost lost both of them and Dick and Jason had both agreed, James was enough.
“But…”  Jason tried to form words, attempting to articulate the mess in his head.  “When? How?”
“My last heat, when James spent the week with Dami and Jon?”  Jason remembered that.  Almost four months ago.  He had assumed Dick would be due for a heat when he got back from his mission.  “I had that infection before that, and the antibiotics had nullified the suppressants.”  Jason looked over to Leslie for confirmation and she just gave him a wide smile, nodding her head.
“But we didn’t know? With James you were sick at a month. You’re how many weeks now?”
“He’s almost eleven weeks,” Leslie finally spoke up and handed over a familiar image.  An ultrasound image of the baby in Dick’s womb. Jason carefully took it and stared down at it.  “She’s a little on the small side, but all the tests say she’s perfectly healthy.”
Jason’s head shot up to look at her.  “She?” He choked out.
“She, Jay. We’re having a daughter and she’s being a hell of a lot nicer than her brother was,” Dick pulled his attention, smiling brightly at Jason.  Jason’s turquoise eyes bore into Dick’s sapphire ones for a moment before he surged forward and kissed the other man breathless.  He could hear Leslie chuckle before excusing herself from the room.
“I was so fucking scared when I never heard anything about your condition on the plane,” Jason admitted when he pulled back just enough to speak and look into Dick’s eyes again. “But this…god, Dickie.  I didn’t even realize I wanted this.”
“Me neither, Little Wing,” Dick admitted as he placed a hand on Jason’s cheek.  They had both been okay with just having James.  It had been thirteen years since their son was born and neither of them had even mentioned another kid.  “We’re never going to hear the end of it, though.”  Jason frowned.  “I’m almost in my second trimester and neither of us noticed.  And now that I know, it’s so obvious that I have no idea how we didn’t realize.”
Jason pulled back as Dick pulled down the blanket that was covering him and tugged up the black t-shirt. And yeah, there was the bump.  How they had managed to not notice that was beyond him.  Placing a hand on the slight swell, Jason sighed.  Now the familiar twist to Dick’s scent made sense.
“We should tell James before everyone else.”  And Jason completely agreed.  “Go get him?”
“Yeah,” Jason agreed, pressing a kiss to Dick’s stomach and to his lips.  “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” Grinning, Jason pulled back completely and headed to the door to get their son so they could tell him the good news.

Marjorie
Explicit - Part 2 of 3
Marjorie couldn’t complain -much -about life aboard the Covenant. It was boring at times, but at least she was still alive.
Walter had decided to give her tasks around the ship to keep her occupied, and even though they were small and menial, they made her feel like she was doing something other than just waiting for time to pass.
And it turned out that Walter was correct: she did feel better after they had sex. She couldn’t believe she’d really just needed to get laid.
Even though it had been just that one time, it seemed to make her feel better about some other things -and she did get back to masturbating no problem, so thanks again, Walter.
Having an illicit affair with a synthetic -at least that was how she called it in her fantasies -brought back a sense of desire and yearning.
It strangely made for a fun past-time. It was like having a secret crush on someone out of her reach; she could look at him during the day, then play her fantasies in the safety of her room.
It’d also helped her relationship with him. Before she’d been treating him somewhat like a computer; a tool to spend the infinite amount of time she seemed to have there. It wasn’t the nicest thing to do, but it was how it was. Now she managed to talk to him better and she came to realise he was a pleasant company to have around.
It still sucked to know she was stuck there, wasting years of her life to reach Origae-6, but she’d come to accept it with a sort of resigned conformity.
The next six months passed uneventfully while she maintained the boring routine of everyday: wake up, exercise, work, read, eat, sleep, repeat.
Then, one day, she was taking a shower, when -for what seemed no reason whatsoever- she slipped on the locker room. She was so shocked by it, that she just laid there trying to catch her breath and looking at the ceiling.
“Mother?” Marjorie finally called. “I fell, can you get Walter here?”
“He’s on his way.” The female voice replied.
Marjorie tried to remain still, concerned about broken bones, even though she didn’t feel a lot of pain. Maybe she was just winded, or maybe the adrenaline was still running through her body and she didn’t feel pain because of that.
She heard steps hurrying her way, and Walter finally appeared in the room. “Marjorie.” He advanced towards her, kneeling next to her. “What happened?” He was frowning.
“I slipped.” She told him.
“Don’t move.” He directed. “Did you hit your head on the ground?”
“No.”
He checked her carefully, while she lay there soaking wet and barely wrapped on her towel. He was quick and perfunctory about it, making the occasional question of “Does it hurt here?”
Once he seemed satisfied by her answers, he just picked her up in a bridal carry.
“Walter!” Marjorie squealed in her surprise, trying to clutch at her towel.
“I’ll take you to your room.” He informed her as he started walking.
“Way to sound like a hero from a trash romance.” She teased.
Teasing Walter was always interesting, because he tried to understand the idea first, then he’d smile at it. This time wasn’t different. “Why?”
“You know.” She insisted. “Carrying me off on your arms, declaring you’re taking me to my chambers…” She teased, wiggling her eyebrows at him.
He seemed to think hard about that one. “You are naked.” He conceded.
Marjorie giggled. “That’s the spirit.”
They entered her room and he sat her down on the bed, before kneeling in front of her and carefully holding her left ankle. “You seem mostly fine, but I want to keep an eye on your ankle. It doesn’t seem to be broken, but you said it’s tender.”
“Yes.” She confirmed, clutching the towel to her chest.
Walter remained kneeling in front of her, his hand around her ankle. “You’ll probably feel pain from the fall tomorrow. If it hurts too much, come to me and I’ll give you something for it.”
“Fine. Now get out of here before you start giving me ideas.”
He didn’t let go of her ankle, he just inclined his head to the right. “What ideas?”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “You are not that innocent, Walter.”
“I do know you’re talking about sex, I was just expecting a clarification.”
Was he messing with her?
Marjorie cleared her throat. “With all your programming and stuff, you can probably figure it out on your own.” It wasn’t the smartest answer out there, but… She was under stress.
Walter nodded, then became quiet, as if he really was making analysis and checking the math in his head. Eventually he focused back on her. “May I present my conclusion?”
He really was messing with her, wasn’t he? That had to be it. “Present?”
Marjorie was shocked. Was he really suggesting… It had been just that one time, right?
Right?
He nodded. “It’s the most efficient way to know if I’m right, correct?” He pointed out as if it was oh-so-obvious and Marjorie wondered if synthetics could also bullshit people.
“Present away.” She said breathlessly.
Walter kept his intense eyes on her as he pushed her legs open, his fingers caressing her thighs as they traveled up. Marjorie had always been cool with pleasuring herself, but she had to admit that nothing was better than someone else touching her.
Walter’s hands found their way under her towel, then around her waist. He used his hold to pull her a bit more to the edge of the bed, but Marjorie only understood his plan when he put her thigh over his shoulder.
Well damn… Since he insisted…
He used his fingers to spread her pussy lips open, then teased her clit with just the tip of his tongue. He gave it quick and slow licks, but most of them were in small proportions.
Marjorie grabbed Walter’s hair. “Don’t tease!” She protested.
He didn’t answer her, because he didn’t take his mouth from its advantage point. But he finally put some energy into it.
By the time he was done with her, there wasn’t a part of her pussy he hadn’t teased with his tongue. He was attentive to parts she’d never thought about before, in ways she hadn’t considered before. There were even some teasing bites in locations that would normally make her nervous, but this time just made her wet.
When he finally put his fingers inside her, she was a wet mess. Marjorie had fallen back to the bed, back arched, fingers grabbing at his hair, his name a constant in her lips.
Since he didn’t breathe, she shamelessly ground her pussy against his face and pulled him closer. She also wasn’t one bit embarrassed of telling him exactly where she wanted him. She’d never been a particularly demanding lover, but with Walter she was discovering a tendency.
When she came she screamed his name so loudly, she thought the people in the pods might wake up because of it.
However, it became clear he didn’t intend to stop just yet, so Marjorie had to push him away.
“Get naked. Now.” She ordered, moving on the bed so she was better positioned on it.
Walter got undressed, and Marjorie found mildly amusing that he actually folded his clothes before climbing on top of her.
She pulled him for a kiss, the taste of her on his lips only making her hotter.
“Come on.” She grabbed his cock.
“You’re impatient today.” He observed, gently pushing her hand away.
“And you’re acting like a tease.” She pointed out. “Not sure why.”
“To my understanding, a tease is someone that does not plan to follow through.” He pushed her legs further apart and rubbed his cock against her. “And I have the intention of following through.”
“Then do it!”
“As you wish.” He guided himself into her and pushed in with a single thrust.
Marjorie lost her breath and sunk her nails on his shoulders. He was thick and it was a stretch, but he had gotten her really wet and prepared for his cock. Besides, she enjoyed it.
Walter hooked her knee on his elbow, pushing her leg higher and started fucking her; but now he was back to going slow, and it was maddening. Marjorie swore she could feel every inch of him moving in and out of her. And once again, his eyes were fixed on her face, as if he was studying her expressions, memorizing the lines of her face.
“Harder, please.” She begged breathlessly, uncaring of how needy she might sound.
The first -and only time -they’d fucked, she had ridden him the way she wanted. She told him where to touch her and she took control of the situation.
This time, since he was on top, it already felt like he was in control. However, once he started fucking her, it became quite clear he held back before.
As he was a synthetic, he didn’t tire, which meant he could fuck her this hard for hours. When she said ‘harder’, he took it seriously -as he normally did -and proceeded to wreck her.
Marjorie could barely hang onto him, as his hips pistoned against hers. The noises around the room were obscene, and so were the words escaping her mouth. She was sobbing so pathetically that Marjorie pulled Walter’s mouth to hers just to cover it up.
He finally let go of her leg so he could play with her clit and Marjorie didn’t even know if this was a good idea. She was worried she might not survive another orgasm.
Walter was doing just whatever he wanted then, without waiting for instructions. He just rubbed her clit until she was coming, harder than the last time, harder than ever before.
Once again Walter got up and took care of cleaning her up. However, instead of leaving, this time he laid back next to her. “My protocols suggest that cuddling might be appreciated.”
Marjorie snorted. She’d have fucking laughed at his face if she had the breath to do it. “Are those the same protocols that suggested I wanted you to eat me out?”
“That was just a logical conclusion based on the evidence presented.” He told her as if it was quite simple.
“Was all of that on your programming?” She just had to ask, because whoever programmed him to act -if necessary -as a sex bot had done a hell of a job.
“Something like that.”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “Are you turning into a smart ass?”
“I wouldn’t dream of it, Marjorie.” He finally stood back up and put his clothes on. “If that’s all I’ll leave you to rest. Tomorrow I’ll check your ankle.”
Marjorie didn’t even remember about it anymore.
Just after Walter left, something occurred to her. She’d never said she wanted sex. Sure, she’d teased him a bit before, but she never came out and asked him for it. She was also pretty sure she wasn’t moody or grumpy as she’d been before.
Walter had offered to eat her out for…
She couldn’t quite figure out why.
How odd.

Better With You (2/6)
Due to a petty feud between their respective department heads, Crowley and Aziraphale have been hiding their friendship for months. When they’re suddenly stuck in lockdown amidst a pandemic, Crowley is not coping well. Thankfully, Aziraphale is there for him - but their changing relationship means that keeping secrets from their bosses only becomes more of a challenge.
Crowley/Aziraphale, rated M (for chapter 4). Read on tumblr or AO3.
When Crowley’s alarm rang, he didn’t even bother to open his eyes. He blindly fumbled for his phone to turn it off and rolled over, pressing his face into the pillow as if that could prevent him from facing just another day in self isolation. It was day 45… or was it 46? Crowley let out a sigh as he realized he’d already lost count. Not that it was surprising - all days just blurred together lately.
Crowley thought about getting up, but his body refused to move. Buried under his blankets, he could at least pretend for a little while longer that everything was okay, soaking in the little comfort the warmth and softness gave him. For a while, he drifted off again, until his alarm rang again, abruptly pulling him back into consciousness.
This time, Crowley actually cracked one eye open to glance at the screen. He swore as he took in the time and leaped out of bed so quickly it left him dizzy. In a rush, he put on the next best shirt he could find, pulled his unkempt hair into a bun and made a cup of coffee before slumping in front of his laptop. He was five minutes late to the daily meeting with Beelzebub and the rest of the team, but thankfully, they only glared at him for a second and didn’t bother to point it out. It was hardly the first time in the last few weeks.
He’d been doing quite well for a little while, Crowley thought as he half listened to Beelzebub going into the details of a new project. He’d gotten out of bed on time, managed to get his work done, cooked dinner in the evening and continued his Golden Girls rewatch until it was time for bed all over again. It had been fine. A bit boring, but nothing he couldn’t deal with. At some point though things had gotten off the rails, and from there it had gone downhill so quickly as if he’d been doing a freestyle dive into a pool of boiling sulphur.
“Crowley,” Beelzebub growled at some point, pulling Crowley out of his thoughts. He sat up a little straighter. That he could only see Beelzebub’s face on a tiny computer screen didn’t make his supervisor any less intimidating.
“Yeah?” Crowley asked, hoping he hadn’t missed anything crucial.
“I expect you to join the meeting with Gabriel later today. Don’t be late this time.”
Crowley’s heart made a pathetic leap in his chest. He hadn’t really caught what the meeting was about, but there was always a good chance that someone else from client relations was there as well. Nevertheless, Crowley desperately tried not to get his hopes up. He hadn’t worked with Aziraphale since their last project was wrapped up. Instead, he’d been dealing with Sandalphon of all people, as if he hadn’t been suffering enough already. He wasn’t quite sure if he could take that today, but it was not like he had a choice when there was a job to do.
“Sure,” he finally managed to get out just before everyone logged off.
Crowley let out a weary sigh, running a hand down his face. He downed his coffee, and tried to get to work.
~~~
He managed to get through his emails in just under an hour, but as soon as he pulled up the code he as working on, his exhaustion caught up on him. His brain felt like it was filled with cotton, all his thoughts slow and sluggish. Crowley stared at his screen, unable to focus, as the minutes ticked by. Finally, while letting out a theatrical groan, Crowley gave up. He slammed his laptop shut and got up, only to collapse face down onto the couch in his living room.
He’d worked from home before, but it had never felt like this. There was a difference between doing it willingly and relishing the extra half hour of sleep he got without his morning commute, and not having a choice in the matter. The walls of his flat suddenly felt so close it was almost suffocating. The whole place felt emptier, quieter. Lonelier.
Crowley rolled on his back, staring at the ceiling. That was the whole point, he thought. He actually missed people. Even Hastur and Ligur, he had to admit with a cringe, and if that thought wasn’t the best sign of his deteriorating sanity he didn’t know what else was. Hastur and Ligur weren’t good company, usually, but they were still company, and in that moment Crowley would’ve preferred that over the emptiness of his flat.
But most of all, he missed Aziraphale. All the little things: the hidden smiles when they passed each other on the corridor and no one was looking. The sneaky glances when Beelzebub and Gabriel were too busy bickering in just another useless meeting. And all the big things as well: spending their lunch breaks together, laughing and chatting, just enjoying each other’s company. The occasional brush of hands, or knees touching under the table, all the small contacts that always seemed to fuel Crowley for weeks. Without Aziraphale, it felt like a piece of himself was missing, and there was nothing but emptiness where his presence used to be.
Crowley let out a groan, pressing his palms against his eyes to will back the tears burning in them. He knew he was being dramatic, but that knowledge didn’t exactly help him to feel better. He hadn’t heard from Aziraphale in weeks. There’d been a couple of email exchanges, in the first two weeks, but that had been work and Aziraphale’s words had always felt too stiff and formal to provide any comfort. He could call him, Crowley mused, but so far their meetings had always resolved around work and he wasn’t sure if crossing that barrier between a work friendship and something more than that was actually welcome. He didn’t dare to try find out, sure that a rejection would only shatter him completely.
Crowley took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. It didn’t help to think about these things. With a sigh, he dragged himself off the couch, forced himself to eat some toast as an early lunch, and got back to work.
~~~
Things were going smoother this time around. By mid afternoon Crowley was exhausted, but he had finished his tasks for the day. Sighing in relief, he pushed his code to the repository and stretched in his chair. Only one more meeting to get through, and then he’d have the whole weekend ahead of him. Finally time to yell at his plants and maybe go for a drive and wallow in self-pity in peace instead of forcing his uncooperative brain to be productive.
He didn’t feel like testing Beelzebub’s patience any more today, so he logged into the video conference five minutes early. Drumming his fingers on the table, he waited for the others to join, but he wasn’t prepared for Aziraphale’s face suddenly appearing on his screen.
Crowley felt it like a blow, the air knocked out of his lungs in an instant. The video flickered, just for a second as the connection was established, and then he was there. Pudgy cheeks and soft cloud of hair and eyes sparkling as he saw Crowley. Aziraphale smiled brightly and Crowley couldn’t help but smile back. The movement of his muscles felt stiff and foreign after the last few weeks.
“Crowley!” Aziraphale beamed. “My dear, it’s so good to see you.”
“Hi,” Crowley croaked, suddenly at a loss of words.
“I’ve been hoping Beelzebub would get you involved in this,” Aziraphale happily continued, oblivious that Crowley felt close to a heart attack. “I cannot tell you what an utter nuisance it was to deal with Dagon. I’ve-”
Aziraphale abruptly stopped himself as the screen flickered and Beelzebub’s face popped up in the conference. Crowley cringed, his heart clenching painfully in his chest as Aziraphale schooled his bright smile into a more neutral expression.
“Err. Hi.”
“Hello, Crowley. Aziraphale,” Beelzebub buzzed, dark eyes darting over the screen. “Now, where izz Gabriel? Can’t he be on time for once in his life?”
Crowley bit back a sigh, his good mood gone as suddenly as it came. He slouched in his chair, forgetting for a moment that the camera tracked every one of his emotions fluttering over his face. Beelzebub probably didn’t notice, but Aziraphale had always been good at reading him like one of his precious books.
Aziraphale frowned in response. “Are you doing all right in lockdown so far?” he asked, concern creeping into his voice.
“We’re not here to exchange pleasantries,” Beelzebub interrupted before Crowley could even open his mouth. He sat up a little straighter anyway, hoping to soothe Aziraphale worries, but he doubted it would do anything to hide his weariness.
His mood only went downhill, once Gabriel appeared. He half listened to their discussion that quickly turned into bickering, throwing in a sentence here and there about their current project. Otherwise, he was too distracted by the sight of Aziraphale’s face and the aching longing spreading in his gut. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from Aziraphale, soaking in all the little expressions on his face. It felt like he’d been drowning and the sight of Aziraphale’s pale blue eyes was the first gasp of air, the relief of finally being able to breathe again.
“Crowley, focus,” Beelzebub hissed at some point, making Crowley jump. Aziraphale frowned again, a deep crease appearing between his eyebrows, and Crowley cursed himself for making him worry. Beelzebub and Gabriel, on the other hand, simply looked annoyed.
“Err, sorry,” Crowley managed to get out. He had no idea what Beelzebub had just said before calling him out. “Can you repeat that?”
Beelzebub repeated their question and Crowley answered dutifully, forcing his scattered thoughts on the actual conversation until eventually everything on the agenda had been discussed. They set up another meeting, and finally, to Crowley’s utter relief, both Gabriel and Beelzebub logged off and he was alone with Aziraphale at last.
For a moment, no one spoke. Crowley took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves and stop squirming under Aziraphale’s attentive eyes.
“How are you doing in lockdown, my dear?” Aziraphale finally asked once again, clearly concerned. “Are you all right?”
Crowley closed his eyes for a moment, contemplating the question. There were so many things he could say. I miss you, he could admit. I don’t think I’m holding it together very well. I’m so lonely it aches, sometimes. If you don’t touch me very soon I might shatter into a thousand little pieces and it’s gonna be a bloody mess. But the words felt too big to be let out just like that, in a blasted video conference, even though it felt like they were tearing Crowley apart on the inside. He opened his eyes to see Aziraphale’s frown deepen.
“I’m bored,” he finally said, after the silence went on for too long, because it was the only thing coming to his mind that wouldn’t leave him with his soul exposed. “So bored. Trenscedentally bored.”
“Oh.” Aziraphale sounded a little taken aback, as if he had expected something entirely else from Crowley. Something more like the truth perhaps, but Crowley was too much of a coward. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
“I - yeah. Well.” Crowley grimaced at his stuttering. “Nothing to be done about it. At least we’re all in the same boat, with everyone being miserable.”
Aziraphale hesitated for a moment. “I’m not miserable,” he finally said.
“Oh?”
“To be completely honest, I’ve been enjoying the extra time at home. I’ve been catching up on my reading. So many books I’ve wanted to read for years. Oh, and I’ve been making cake!”
Crowley stared at Aziraphale’s face on the screen, struggling to follow the conversation. “... cake?” he finally managed to get out.
“Quite a lot of cake, actually.”
“I’m gonna regret asking, but, uh…”
“Well, all the restaurants and cafés are closed, but I did find a cookbook when I was reshelving some of my collection the other day,” Aziraphale said with gleaming eyes. “And I got peckish. I’ve now made bundt cake, sponge cake, angel’s food cake, and I’m just starting with a sourdough loaf.”
It felt like something cracked inside of Crowley’s chest. The joy in Aziraphale’s voice, the excitement, it was all too much. It stung like boiling water on his skin, that Aziraphale was so happy without Crowley, while Crowley himself was an utter mess. But maybe it would help if he could be near him, just for a short while. Just long enough to soak up some of that joy radiating off Aziraphale, just enough to numb the aching emptiness in his chest. Maybe then Crowley would be able to make it through all this. He took a deep breath and gathered all his courage, even though it felt like his fear would choke him.
“You know, maybe I could, um, slither over sometime,” he started hesitantly, his voice hoarse. “Help you eat all that cake? I mean, we have both been in isolation for weeks now, should be safe, yeah?”
Aziraphale looked utterly taken aback for a moment. His silence was enough to shatter Crowley’s fragile hope. “I- I- I’m afraid that would be breaking all the rules,” Aziraphale finally stammered. “We’re all meant to stay at home.”
“Right,” Crowley muttered. He was so tired, all of a sudden. All he wanted was to lie down and sleep for at least a couple of months, if not a whole century. “Yeah, sure. Listen, I’ve got to go. Bye, angel,” he said in a rush, slamming his laptop shut before Aziraphale had the chance to reply.
Crowley let out a groan before dragging himself to the bedroom and collapsing face down onto the mattress. He fished his phone out of his pocket, turning it on silent and throwing it away from him with enough force that it bounced off the mattress and clattered to the floor. He didn’t bother to pick it up. Instead he just closed his eyes, waiting for sleep that didn’t come.
Slowly, the room grew dark around him. Crowley was drifting between sleep and wakefulness for a long while, not able to escape into unconsciousness properly, but enough to slow down his scattered thoughts and numb his hurt feelings. Night was already approaching by the time Crowley opened his eyes again. His bedroom was nothing but dark silhouettes, only illuminated by an annoyingly bright and insistent flashing coming from somewhere on his floor. With a sigh, Crowley lifted his head enough to see that it was his mobile. He stared at it until the screen turned dark again. For a moment Crowley contemplated just ignoring it to roll over and try falling asleep once more, but eventually he dragged himself out of bed and picked up his phone.
His heart clenched in his chest. Three missed calls from Aziraphale. For a moment, Crowley just dumbly stared at the screen. Maybe he did actually manage to fall asleep, and this was nothing but a torturous dream. But then his screen lit up another time. Crowley took a deep breath and finally picked up.
“Angel,” he said in greeting, not bothering to hide the weariness in his voice.
“Crowley,” Aziraphale breathed out, voice so full of relief that it made something ache in Crowley’s chest. “I’m so glad I finally got through.”
“Sorry. Was taking a nap,” Crowley mumbled. “What do you want?”
The following silence seemed to stretch on for millenia. “You know,” Aziraphale finally started, slowly, carefully, as if every word was so fragile it might break on his lips. “I was thinking. People are still allowed to, ah, spend the lockdown with their… significant other.”
Crowley’s breath caught in his throat. “We’re not… significant others though,” he croaked, because it was true, even though the words felt like acid on his tongue.
“Yes, but… oh, Crowley, I thought I had been quite obvious with my affection for you, and I apologize if that was not the case. I was going to ask you on a date properly first, but given the circumstances… would you still come over? Please? I hate the thought of you all alone in your apartment, my dear.”
There was so much hope, so much affection in Aziraphale’s voice that Crowley had to close his eyes for a moment to will back the tears. “Hunker down together until this is over?” he finally managed to get out.
“Yes. If that’s what you want.”
“Yes,” Crowley breathed out. “Yes, angel, of course. I’m on my way.”

CHAPTER 6: CHRISTMAS PRESENT
Tumblr media
Chapter 6: 6784 Words
Fic Total: 21340 Words
Series Total: 21340 Words
The next day was the start of the weekend and I had decided that because I'd been so stressed lately it's time for me to get an Xbox 360 again. Even though I'm no longer doing any new freelance programming jobs I still have quite a bit of money I saved up.
I was in the middle of setting up the TV in my room when Dunc called. "Blue Jay." I said.
"Busy today?" He asked.
I thought for a moment about the breakfast at lunchtime conversation I had with Wilson.
___
"I've got to say the fact you're not lactose intolerant but just don't like milk is slightly concerning." Wilson commented.
I glanced up from my bowl of lucky charms (without milk of course). "I don't know what to tell you man it's just gross. I just don't like most dairy." I said with a shrug.
"What dairy do you like?" Wilson asked, looking more concerned.
"Oh easy cheese and ice cream." I said.
Wilson stared at me blankly for a few seconds. "That reminds me you need a physical." He said.
I set the spoon down. "Like a check-up?" I asked.
"Yes." He said.
"Can we just not do that? I mean like you guys are Doctors I'm sure I'm fine like-" I started to say.
"You're joining the Cheerleaders. They're going to need a physical." Wilson said simply.
Ah no, he's got me there. I groaned.
Wilson looked confused. "You volunteer at PPTH, you met House as a patient in the free clinic, you don't seem to be afraid of Doctors." He said.
"Yeah I know but that was for my wrist. Physicals you have to you know… and like I'm trans so it's just awkward because I'll have to explain that to whatever Doctor it is and like God forbid if they're low key transphobic or not you know?" I ranted but then remembered that Wilson is also trans. So he just kinda stared at me like “yeah I know”.
"Well, you already know all of House's Team isn't transphobic." Wilson said.
He's right there. "But do I have to?" I pleaded.
"Yes. Schedule it with one of them today." He said.
I groaned again before getting back to my cereal.
___
"Uhh I have one thing to do at PPTH." I said.
"Oh? Care to elaborate?" Dunc asked over the phone.
I huffed and put him on speaker while I started to set up the Xbox 360. "I have to schedule a physical with one of House's Team."
"In person?" He asked.
"Well I don't exactly have any of their numbers. I've never asked and they haven't offered I'm a teenager. What adult is going to offer a teenager they barely know their phone number? Makes them look like a pedophile or something I don't know." I rambled. I have Kutner's but he's out of town right now anyway.
"Can't you just call the hospital?" He asked.
"I'm like 95% House would pick up the phone so no thanks. Hi yes Dad what I've never called you Dad before oops. Well I'm NOT calling you. I'm here to talk to your Team because I hate you. That would go great." I joked.
"You haven't called him Dad before?" Dunc asked.
"Okay look I didn't know him for the first 16 years of my life and I've been calling him House since I've met him like at what point do I call him Dad? Is there like a guideline because I'd really like to know this shit is so confusing, Dunc you have no idea." I complained.
"Hmm yeah I guess that kinda sucks." He said.
"Okay but like if I did call House Dad like I had no idea how he'd react. The man might just die for all I know." I joked.
Dunc laughed. "Yeah let me know so I can record it."
"Sure thing." I said.
"Want back up?" He asked.
"You asking because you're really that bored or because you want to watch the shit show?" I asked.
"Can't it be both?" He said.
I sighed. "Yeah sure meet you there in an hour?"
"Sounds good." He said and hung up.
Well maybe it will be a little easier with Dunc there.
~~~
I was idling in the lobby of PPTH waiting for Dunc to show up. The reason that House and his team were even here today on a weekend was because of a case. I wasn't too sure of the details of this one but apparently something happened late last night.
"Take the bus?" I asked Dunc as he walked into the lobby taking off his scarf.
"Unlike you I don't have a parking spot." He grumbled.
Yeah apparently with the amount of volunteer hours I was logging I got a parking spot. It was far away but a free parking spot nonetheless. "You could've asked me to pick you up." I said.
"Your car is a piece of shit dude." Dunc replied as we made our way to the elevator.
I rolled my eyes as I pressed the button. I mean the car works just fine, that's all I could really ask for. "Not all of us are rich like you Lestrade." I said.
"Really? Because Wilson told me who your Uncle was and from what I heard when he died his money went to your Mother which I assume has gone to you now." He said as we got into the empty elevator.
I watched the doors close. I figured this would catch up to me at some point. Going to a school full of rich kids. I figured Ivy was the one who was going to figure it out though. I mean she was the one that found out about Dr. King. "I'm not exactly sure what's happening with the money." I said.
Dunc looked confused. "Why?"
"Uh I bailed from Minnesota the day after my Mom died. I've been a little preoccupied." I said.
The elevator doors open to the floor we were going to. "Why did you even bother looking for your Father if you had that much money?" Dunc asked.
"Because I don't know if I do!" I exclaimed.
A few people turned to look at us which made me freeze up of course.
"What do you mean you don't know if you do?" Dunc said quietly.
I glanced around and the few people who were watching us looked the other way. "Money was a very sensitive topic in my family. I'm not talking about this now." I said and made my way to the DDX Room.
Thankfully House wasn't there. Thirteen and Taub were the only ones in the room at the moment. Thirteen was on the computer and Taub was reading some files. "Looking for House?" Thirteen said without moving her eyes from the computer.
"Who's that?" Taub asked about Dunc.
"Uh no and this-" I started but Dunc cut me off.
"A friend Duncan Lestrade. I'm also one of Dr. Wilson patients." He introduced me.
"We both go to Princeton Prep." I said.
"You go to Princeton Prep?" Taub asked.
I looked at him blankly. Does House never talk about me? I mean that's fine I don't really care but I feel like the fact that I wear the uniform around the hospital a lot would shed some light on the subject. "Yes?"
"He pays for that?" Thirteen asked, surprised.
"I'm there on scholarship." I said with a sigh.
The looks on both of their faces went from confused to oh that makes a lot more sense.
"What do you need?" Taub asked.
I looked back and forth between the two of them. Jeez I hate this.
"He needs to schedule a physical to join the Cheerleaders." Dunc said for me.
I glared at him. I did NOT want the hospital to know I was joining the Cheerleaders just yet. I guess it's not too surprising I mean after the whole Spider-Man thing but still.
"Cheerleaders?" Taub asked.
Great job Dunc. Great job. "I used to be a gymnast." I said softly.
Taub just looked shocked but Thirteen wasn't. "When are you available?" She asked.
I blinked. "I'm here every Wednesday and Friday and most Tuesdays and Thursdays." I said.
"Next Wednesday at 3 work?" Thirteen asked.
I pulled out my phone to double-check my calendar. "Yes." I said and put it in the calendar.
I muttered thanks on my way out of the DDX Room with Dunc.
"See, was that hard?" Dunc said.
"Did you have to tell them I was joining the Cheerleaders?" I huffed.
"I mean they'll find out soon enough." He shrugged.
"I'm not so sure anymore. Like they didn't even know I went to Princeton Prep." I said.
"Yeah, that was a little weird." Dunc said. "Oh and next year you won't be able to volunteer on Fridays."
"Why?" I asked.
"Football games duh." He said.
Oh right yeah. This is going to be interesting.
~~~
I rested my head in my hands after I sat down at the lunch table. I was a bit of an idiot last night and stayed up all night gaming on my Xbox 360. Because it's December I was trying to figure out a Christmas present for House and I thought some gaming would help… It didn't. I just got no sleep and zero ideas. Wilson is easy enough. I have some props from some musicals that my Uncle gave to me a while back. Sure it's regifting but like he's more into that stuff than me. I even have some ideas for House's Team, Dunc and Ivy but House? No clue.
"What's bothering you?" Ivy asked.
I guess you could say Ivy has become my friend now? Despite her being the Cheerleading Captain she actually doesn't have many friends because she tends to piss people off. You could literally stab Dunc and he wouldn't care and I have House for a Father so it's gonna take a lot for her to piss us off.
"Trying to think of a Christmas present for House. I was up all night thinking about it." I mumbled.
"Really? I thought you were up all night playing Dragon Age Origins." Dunc said.
I glared at him. I bought the game recently. "I can multitask."
"Clearly not very well." He said.
"Yeah well, you try having House as a Father for a day and come back to me." I said.
"Can I have Wilson instead?" Dunc joked.
"No. He's actually nice." I mumbled.
Ivy looked back and forth between us. "Isn't Wilson your Doctor?" She asked Dunc.
"Yeah." He said with a shrug.
Ivy thought for a moment. "How did you two meet?" She asked.
I laughed. "Oh man, that was hilarious. You remember that Dunc."
"Pfft, how could I? I almost died from second-hand embarrassment." He said.
"Yeah, I'm so glad Wilson didn't judge me too hard on that first impression."
"Dude that's how you met Wilson?!" Dunc exclaimed.
"Unfortunately." I sighed.
"What happened?" Ivy asked, clearly annoyed that we were leaving her in the dark.
"Right so what happened was this-"
___
Part of me really wished I didn't mention that I was good with computers to Dr. Cuddy when I asked her about volunteering. Once she heard that she totally glanced over everything I said about wanting to become a Doctor someday so it would be nice to see something medical related… Yeah she immediately stuck me with Bill The IT Guy because he's like the only IT person for the whole hospital so he's a BIT overwhelmed. But you know it's fine.
The main issue I'm having now is that Bill is having me running around the hospital a lot and well I really don't know the place that well yet. Yeah I don't know it at all. I mean sure I can find my way to the lobby like 60% of the time but that's about it. I'm currently lost again. I was just grabbing myself a Mountain Dew and a Coffee for Bill at the cafeteria but got lost on my way to IT. Man I've been on so many floors today I'm not even sure what floor it's on anymore.
I turned around a few times trying to look for one of the floor signs that are usually all over the place but apparently are never there when you need them to be. If I was going to guess I was in Oncology. Because you know…
I finally found a floor sign and went over to it but unfortunately IT wasn't on there. I forgot it never freaking is. No one ever goes to IT. I did notice a cute guy my age staring at me from one of the couches. Must be taking a break from his room. I wasn't paying attention when I turned back around so that I bumped into a Doctor spilling the Coffee that I had got for Bill on him. "Oh God I'm so sorry." I said, my face turning bright red. I scrambled to get something to help clean up the mess.
"Hey it's no problem. New volunteer?" He asked, pointing at my badge.
"Y-Yeah Jay Flynn. Helping out Bill in IT because I told Dr. Cuddy I was good with computers but I do kinda wish I could be doing something else." I said without thinking. Wow Jay why the fuck did you just tell him that. He's probably going to tell Dr. Cuddy you just messed everything up.
"Ah well Bill can use all the help he can get. I'm Dr. Wilson by the way. You lost?" He asked.
My face got even redder. "Yeah I forgot where IT is." I mumbled.
"Oh that would be an issue. I guess the coffee was for Bill?" He said.
I just nodded.
"Right well-" Wilson started to say but was interrupted by the cute guy I saw earlier.
"I can show him where IT is Wilson." He said.
Wilson looked at the guy. "Have you had a walk yet?"
"No." He said.
Wilson squinted. "Alright fine."
The cute guy waited for Dr. Wilson to turn the corner before speaking up again. "Okay here's the deal. I can help you out but I need you to help me out."
I blinked. "What?"
"Right so I noticed your Princeton Prep uniform you wear around here and like dude really get some other clothes. But you might've heard of me, I'm Duncan Lestrade." He started.
Right okay wow he's just gonna do this right here right now. "Uh yeah, the dude with cancer." I said.
"Obviously. Anyway. I overheard some of your conversation with Wilson and I assume you're volunteering here because our school's medical club sucks ass." He went on.
I nodded.
"Right so I can put a word in for you with Wilson and Cuddy about volunteering over in Oncology if you tutor me in Science." He finished.
I thought for a moment. "So you're assuming that because I'm volunteering at a hospital I want to be a Doctor so I must be good at Science?" I asked.
"Am I wrong?" He asked.
"Well no but like…"
"What's the problem then?" He said.
I huffed. "Okay fine deal but I'm not calling you Lestrade like everyone else does at school."
"Why?" He asked.
"I don't know it sounds kind of classy, I don't really like it." I said.
"You go to a school full of rich people and you don't like classy?" He asked.
"I'm there on scholarship." I said.
"Hm all the more reason for you to tutor me… Jay Flynn." He said while pulling on my badge.
I pulled my badge back. "Okay, Dunc." I said.
"Really you're going to call me Dunc? I haven't been called that since I was like 6." He said.
"Yeah? Well, get used to it Dunc." I said with a smirk.
___
"You didn't even know where IT was." I said throwing a fry at Dunc.
"I obviously needed an excuse to talk to you." He said.
"He acted like such a rich prick at first." I said to Ivy.
"Yeah, I was kinda surprised when I heard the Football Kicker was hanging out with the new scholarship nerd and that you two weren't like together or anything." She said.
"I mean he was tutoring me." Dunc said.
"Oh come on everyone knows what tutoring means half of the time." She scoffed.
"What?" I asked.
Both of them looked at me. "God for how smart you're supposed to be you are so oblivious sometimes." Ivy said.
"People thought we were hooking up?" I squeeked.
"Yeah, I had to set the record straight." Dunc explained.
I looked at the two of them blankly. God, I have no idea about the drama that goes on in this school, do I? I get a bit of The PPTH drama from eavesdropping and House and Wilson but I don't really care too much. I'm more focused on my own life that has more than enough of its own drama. "You didn't think to mention it to me?" I said.
"You were uh dealing with stuff at the time." Dunc said.
I just stared at him.
"You know, coming out to House." He said.
Oh right. "Oh Ivy knows Dunc. She found out about my gymnastic past so there's stuff about me being trans. Man, that sucks that I'm constantly being outed." I complained.
"Couldn't you like change your last name?" Ivy asked.
I froze. I mean yes obviously but like the most reasonable one to change it to would be House and… "Hi for Christmas I'd like your last name House." I joked.
Dunc snorted.
"Just become a fae and steal it. You're Irish right?" Ivy joked.
"Ah yeah, simple let me just become a fae real quick." I shot back.
"We've somehow circled back to Christmas presents." Dunc pointed out.
"Ugh right, what the hell am I going to get him." I grumbled.
"A name change obviously." Ivy said.
"Ha very funny." I said.
"What's he like?" Dunc asked, trying to be helpful.
I sighed. "Yeah I thought about that but like… All I really know about is Motorcycles, Monster Trucks and Music."
Ivy stared at me for a moment. "Monster Trucks?"
"Yeah, apparently he likes to watch those I don't know." I said with a shrug.
"And you hate Motorcycles." Dunc said.
I nodded.
"Music is vague." Ivy said.
"He plays Guitar and Piano. Listens to a bunch of stuff but uh hates musicals so that's something that he and Wilson don't agree on." I explained.
"Oh, so Wilson is a musical gay shocking." Dunc joked.
"I'm pretty positive he's Bi first of all." I said.
"I'm just saying." He said.
I rolled my eyes. The bell rang signaling that lunch was over. "Well, that was no help thanks though." I said standing up.
"Sorry I can't always save your ass." Dunc said.
I scoffed. "Right gotcha."
He winked at me.
Ivy rolled her eyes. "Oh get a room."
~~~
"Bill?" I said after I walked into IT and didn't notice him right away. I set down my backpack and Mountain Dew but kept holding the coffee that I grabbed on my way up for Bill.
"Servers." A muffled Scottish accent said.
"I'll leave the coffee out here then." I said before making my way to the server closet. I leaned against the door. "What's up?"
"Just checking a few things." Bill said looking at me. "Slow day."
"Because of all of my help clearly." I joked.
"Ah well, the coffee is nice." He said with a smirk.
"Ouch, I'm hurt." I said and fakingly clutched my chest.
"Get out of my server closet." He said shooing me out of the doorway.
"Don't have to tell me twice to leave a closet." I joked.
"Ack you and your gay jokes. I guess it makes sense living with House and Wilson." He commented after locking the closet.
"Mmm, I had two Moms at one point. If I turned out to be straight that would have been surprising." I said.
Bill just sighed. "Well, I don't have anything for you to do. Does Wilson?"
"Nah he's sick of me too." I said and sat down and the desk that I have slowly taken over. I mean the dude's got a pretty big workspace just to himself so there are multiple desks.
Bill took a sip of the coffee I got for him. "Need help with school work?" He offered.
I just stared at him. Now Bill and I are, you know, friendly with each other. I'm like some of the only social interaction the man gets on some days but like normally we just shoot a few sarcastic comments at each other and he tells me to go off and fix something somewhere. But like I'm a teenager and he's like older than House. Sure I'm a bit curious how a Scottish IT Guy ended up at PPTH but I've been too busy to ask around. "How slow has it been?" I asked.
"Slow enough I've been debating calling my Ex." He complained.
I blinked. Ex? Bill is just telling me about himself? What? I sat up a little. "I mean I know I'm only 16 but like that's probably not a great idea?" I said.
"Eh it wouldn't go anywhere anyway she's in London last I heard." Bill said.
Okay, now I'm curious. "So like-" I started but was cut off by my phone. "Uh, one sec."
Warning on the way to PPTH w Ivy. Found out about ur Uncle. Can hold off 4 bit.
DL
My face fell. Ah great. I don't really want to deal with this right now. House and Wilson still haven't caught on to the fact that I should probably have a bunch of money. Or if they have they haven't mentioned it.
"Who found out about what?" Bill asked.
I looked up. "What?"
"You're not that hard to read Blue Jay." He said.
"My friends found out something about my family and are on their way here." I said.
"House?" He asked.
"No something on my Mom's side it's complicated." I said.
"Try me." Bill said.
I texted back that I was at IT but to take their time. "Right so you know how I go to Princeton Prep?" I said.
Bill nodded.
"Right so I'm there on an academic scholarship. The reason I applied was because you know stuff with House being my Father." I said.
Bill was going to ask a question about that but I stopped him. "Look I don't have time to go into that." I huffed. "Anyway my Uncle was a pretty famous musical actor that died in a helicopter crash a while back. When he died his money went to my Mom. And when my Mom died the logical conclusion would be that I would inherit that money. So I assume my friend Ivy is about to tear me a new one for acting all weird about rich people when I'm probably rich." I explained.
Bill just stared at me for a moment. "Jay what your friends think about you having money or not is not that big of a problem."
Oh, he's right actually. This is like the least of my problems. "That's uh pretty helpful." I mumbled.
"I can be sometimes." Bill said. He stood up and threw away the empty coffee cup. "How long until they get here?"
"Well assuming Ivy's driving not long." I sighed.
Bill raised an eyebrow. "Fast driver?"
"From what I've heard." I said.
"Well good luck." Bill said while making his way to the door.
"Wait hold up you leaving me?" I asked.
"As much as I'd love to stay and hear about your high school drama I'm needed in one of the lecture halls. Don't forget to lock up when you leave" Bill said and left me alone.
This is going to be great.
10 minutes later Ivy smashed through the door with Dunc mouthing a Sorry shortly behind. "You failed to mention who your Uncle was." She said.
I looked up from my history textbook. "You never asked."
"Lestrade knew!" Ivy exclaimed.
"Wilson mentioned it to him. Not that I wanted him to." I said.
"Here you are this whole time with this 'Oh I'm not Rich Superiority Complex' when in reality you're probably richer than the both of our families combined." Ivy ranted.
I slammed the history textbook on the desk and stood up. "Look Ivy. There's a lot of reasons why I don't like talking about this but if you really want me to go into it I will." I said.
"Explain yourself." Ivy said now in my face.
"Now obviously even if I do have a bunch of money which I mentioned to Dunc I'm not even entirely sure I do. I'd much rather have my Uncle or Mother instead. Connor's money was always a sore subject for my Mom because her being a Single Mom with lots of student loans she had to come to him for help. She never wanted to. Mom was going to pay him back even though Connor said it was unnecessary but then he died and she got all of his money. Mom never touched it. I know she thought about donating it but she was so busy and never had the time to figure out what to do with it. I grew up middle class. The idea of having a lot of money is foreign to me." I explained.
The two of them stood there for a while. No one wanting to break the silence. "Look I'm sorry for misleading you two I just don't know how to handle these things very well." I said.
"Right well how about we all get something to eat." Dunc said.
"I guess that sounds like a plan." Ivy said.
I was about to say I'm still volunteering but Bill walked in. "Ah are these your two friends?" He asked.
"Uh yeah. Duncan Lestrade and Ivy Adler." I said.
"Bill Baxter. I really don't have anything for you to do Jay. You should go have fun with your friends. You won't be a teenager for much longer." He said.
"I uh but-" I started.
"No buts get out." He said.
"Right okay I guess we will get something to eat then." I said.
~~~
I was having trouble making eye contact with Thirteen. We've already done the more invasive parts of the physical but I'm just uncomfortable anyway. We're just in the middle of the questions now.
"Smoke?" She asked.
"No." I said.
"Drink." She asked.
"No." I said.
"Sexually Active?" She asked.
"No." I said.
"Thoughts of harming yourself or others?" She asked.
I paused. Technically no I haven't gotten that far yet but… "No."
Thirteen looked at me clearly noticing my hesitation. "Jay you can be honest with me. You've lost a parent it's not unusual to be experiencing-" She started.
"I'm fine." I said looking at her.
"Wilson told me he's worried." She said.
Of course, he did. I crossed my arms. "He worries about everything. Dude's not even my Dad." I said.
"If you need to talk to someone Jay you can. Doesn't matter who but I'd recommend maybe avoiding House." She said.
Yeah, House probably wouldn't be the best person to talk to.
"Can we move on?" I sighed.
She looked at me for a moment before continuing. "Do you feel unsafe at home?" She asked.
"No." I said.
~~~
After Cheerleading practice Ivy decided to drag me to the mall for Christmas shopping. Seeing as I'm still trying to figure out a present for House , I reluctantly agreed. "This is it?" I asked once we were in the Mall.
Ivy gave me a weird look as we went down the escalator. "Yes?"
"Kinda small." I said with a shrug.
"Aren't you from the Midwest? Malls must be tiny there?" She said.
"Ah well, fun fact about Minnesota is that we were the first State to have a fully enclosed indoor Mall. On top of that, I was a short drive away from The Mall of America so I was a little spoiled." I explained.
"Why do you know such random shit?" Ivy asked as we wandered into some clothing store.
"Dunno. I have a pretty good memory but like I don't really get to choose what I remember." I said.
"So your brain thinks random facts about Malls in Minnesota is important?" She questioned.
"I guess. On the bright side, I'm pretty good at trivia." I said.
Ivy just rolled her eyes. "Anyway. You have feelings for Lestrade?" She asked suddenly.
I froze just holding a random shoe in my hand. "What kind of feelings?" I played dumb.
Ivy was unamused with my attempt at playing dumb. "It's fairly obvious you have a crush on him."
"I don't know what you're talking about." I lied while setting the shoe down.
"I'm pretty positive he feels the same way." Ivy continued.
"Ha someone having a crush on me? Funny." I joked.
Ivy just rolled her eyes. "Not like you'd ever be the one to make the first move anyway."
"I know that's a sound analysis but it still hurts a little." I huffed.
"Right well you figure out a gift for House yet?" She asked.
"No. We should probably pop in the music store." I said.
"Sounds like a plan." Ivy said.
Thankfully I finally found the perfect thing at the music store.
~~~
I never really mentioned it to House or Wilson but I do enjoy Christmas quite a bit. It's not my favorite holiday. Halloween is that but I don't know there's something about it. It is a bit more somber for me personally this year because it's the first Christmas without my Mom but I'm trying to ignore that fact. So on Christmas Eve, I made my way to PPTH to drop off my presents I got for Kutner, Thirteen, Taub, Foreman, Cuddy, Chase, and of course Bill. I was humming to the Christmas songs on my iPod as I made my way to my first stop, Dr. Cuddy.
Now I know that Cuddy, Taub, and Wilson are Jewish but they all seem to be mostly non practicing for the most part. And I don't think anyone can really argue with receiving a gift right?
I took out my earbuds and knocked on the door. "Come in." Cuddy said.
"Hey." I said while walking up to her desk.
"Oh, Jay I wasn't expecting you. Nice hat." She said.
Yeah, I decided to wear my Santa hat today seeing as I'm dropping off a bunch of gifts. "Thanks! I'm just dropping off a quick gift." I said and pulled the present out of my backpack. Normally I wear my messenger bag to PPTH but I needed a bigger bag… I set the present on her desk.
"Oh wow! I didn't know you were getting anything." She said.
"Uh, no need to get me anything. I just like to give people gifts on Christmas you know. Besides you've been really nice to me and you definitely didn't have to." I said while rubbing the back of my neck.
"You know it really is a wonder how you're related to House sometimes." She joked.
"I'm a prime example of nature vs nurture." I joked back. "I need to get going though I got more people to get to." I said.
"How many people did you get gifts for?" She asked.
"Uhhh… besides House, Wilson, and my friends. Seven people?" I said while counting on my fingers.
"That's a lot." She said looking surprised.
"I guess it is. Isn't it." I said before leaving.
Next on my list is Chase. Hopefully, he's not in the middle of surgery right now.
I found him on his way out of an OR on his way to get some food. "Chase!" I called.
"Oh hey there Blue Jay." He said.
"Not gonna take up too much of your time but I got you a small thing for Christmas." I said and handed Chase the present.
"Never thought I'd see the day I'd get a Christmas present from a House." He joked.
"I mean my last name is technically Flynn but sure." I said.
"Well, thanks Jay." He said.
"Yeah, no problem dude." I said with a thumbs up before running off down the hallway.
I went into IT with You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch blaring from my iPod. Or a least as much as an iPod could. "You're A Mean One Mr. Baxter" I sang along as a joke.
Bill looked at me with an eyebrow raised. "Didn't realize you thought of me that way Mr. Flynn." He said.
"Sorry, it's my favorite Christmas song." I said with a shrug.
"That's your favorite Christmas song?" He asked.
"What can I say? It's a bop." I said.
Bill rolled his eyes. "Why are you here anyway? It's your Christmas break and I would love to not be working." He asked.
"Ah well, you see." I said and pulled out the present. "I have this for you."
"Oh." Bill said.
"Yeah think fast." I said and threw it at him.
Bill caught the present with no hesitation. "I never really took you as the gifting type." He said.
"Well, I always love to subvert expectations." I said and did a curtsy. "Anyway, I have one more stop so bye." I said and waved Bill off.
~~~
Thankfully House's Team was all there. They were doing a differential diagnosis so it makes sense that they would be. I walked in quietly trying to not interrupt. Also because seeing a real differential diagnosis live would be pretty cool.
All of them did take note of me walking in but kept shooting off ideas anyway. House shot most of them down for various reasons. "Do you four really have nothing better than that? I bet Jay could come up with something better and he's only sitting in on medical classes." House ranted at them before turning to me.
All of them were now staring at me.
I looked blankly at House. "You actually want a suggestion?" I asked.
He waved his hand in front of the whiteboard.
I set down my backpack and walked up to the whiteboard to take a better look. "Legionnaires' Disease." I said with a shrug not really sure what to suggest.
The five of them stayed quiet for a moment. "Look I'm in High School I don't really know what I'm talking about." I said softly.
"Kutner and Foreman check the workplace. Thirteen and Taub start him on antibiotics." House said.
The four of them started to get up to leave. "Oh wait! Before you leave. I have Christmas presents for you guys." I said awkwardly.
"You didn't come to show us up?" Taub said.
"N-no?" I said while scrambling to my backpack to get the presents. "Right uh here's Taub's." I said and handed it to him.
He nodded and took it.
"Foreman." I said.
"We've barely talked." He said while taking the present.
"I mean it would be rude to show up here with gifts for everyone but you." I said.
"Thirteen. Thanks for the physical." I said whispering the last part.
"No problem Jay." She said.
Taub and Thirteen left to tend to the patient and Foreman went to wait for Kutner outside. "Last but not least." I said handing Kutner his present.
"You're still on for Star Trek the day after Christmas right?" He asked and walked over to another part of the room.
"I mean yeah." I said.
"Great! Here." He said and handed me a gift back.
"Oh!" I said.
"What not expecting one?" He said.
"I mean you're the first person to give me one in return so yes?" I said.
"Oh… Well, you're a pretty cool kid. Besides you need that." He said while tapping the present he got me.
"Well you don't need what I got you but I hope you like it." I said with a smile.
"I sure I will. I better get going before House notices I'm still here." Kutner said and left.
I tucked Kutner's present in my backpack and glanced at House's office. I can only hope that he'll like what I got him.
~~~
"You know I swear we had more eggnog." Wilson said.
"Yeah weird." I said like I totally didn't drink quite a bit. House found out but he didn't care. Only Wilson is in the dark.
"Maybe you drank more than you thought." House said.
Nice cover House…
Wilson glared at him.
I bounced up to a standing position on the couch. "Right we're doing presents now. I've been waiting far too long with you two being at work all day." I said pointing at House and Wilson.
"You could've just opened them." House said making his way to the couch.
"Actually no. It's my first Christmas with you two so we're doing this at least once." I said.
And the first Christmas without Mom.
Wilson chuckled and grabbed his gift for me and threw it in my lap. "Go wild."
"For Blue Jay, you've been needing a new one of these. Love Wilson." I read the tag before opening.
My eyes lit up at the new binder. "How do you know my size?" I asked.
"He checked your laundry." House said.
"Oh. That's pretty obvious I guess." I said. "Thank you so much Wilson." I said and hugged him.
Wilson was a little surprised by the hug. Then again he doesn't know I'm buzzed so you know. "Okay, so you have to open mine for you now." I said and handed him the present.
Wilson read the tag with a small smile. "Is this?" He asked after opening the present.
"Yes! Uncle Connor gave me a lot of props from the musicals he was in. You're more into that stuff so." I said.
"That's probably worth some money." House said.
"Yeah." Wilson said wide-eyed.
I laughed. "I'm glad you like it. Here House." I said and threw him his gift.
He caught it. "Very light."
I shrugged.
House opened the present. It's a flaming guitar strap. "To match your cane." I said with a smirk.
Wilson chuckled which made me lose my composure and start laughing too.
He got up and put the strap on one of his guitars. "Bitchin." He said.
Wilson and I laughed harder.
House sat back down on the couch this time strumming some Christmas songs. He slid me a large envelope. "Here Kid."
"You got me a massive card?" I joked.
House kept playing the guitar.
I opened it. Looks like some sort of legal documents. "Is this?" I asked.
House stopped playing. "Wilson asked your friends what you wanted. Told them you said you hated how you were constantly getting outed by your last name. Even joked that you'd like a name change for Christmas." He said.
"And you're fine with it?" I asked.
He shrugged. "You're my son. Jay House makes sense."
I bit my lip. Wow okay, Jay don't cry. That eggnog definitely didn't seem like a great idea now.
House got up and put the guitar back. Once it was back I ran up and hugged him."Thanks… Dad." I said."
"Oh okay. You're definitely not getting eggnog next year." House said.
"You gave him WHAT!" Wilson exclaimed.
"Wilson we're having a moment." I whined.
"I didn't give it to him. I walked in on Jay drinking the rest of the Eggnog." House said and pulled me off of him.
Wilson pinched the bridge of his nose. "So you just covered for him?"
"He's 16." House said with a shrug.
"House not only is the drinking age 21 but he's a minor." Wilson said.
I listened to the two of them argue while I opened Kutner's present. "Oh, dope." I said.
They turned to me. "Who's that from?" Wilson asked.
"Kutner." I said and balanced the Star Trek The Next Generation DVD Box Set on my head.
Wilson just sighed.
"Oh! I should text him thanks!" I said and ran off to grab my phone in my room.

Silly Pleasures-Chapter 6
*Thanks to everyone reading along so far! I’ll be back to posting more frequently, I got into a bit of a slump once work started up again. But we back BABY!!!!*
I was deep into an article detailing the life of executioners in 17th century France, when I felt eyes staring in my direction. I looked up from my laptop to see a boy, possibly around 18, quickly look towards the window of the library. It was all too quick for it to be a coincidence.
Once my gaze drifted back down to my computer, I felt the eyes return to me. I tried to ignore the feeling, but eventually it became too much. I felt my neck heat up in a blush, my armpits started to sweat under my white sweatshirt, and I could no longer focus on the words I was reading. The letters blurred into a gray mass on the page.
My phoned beeped next to my hand, making me jump out of my panicked state. I took a deep breath in to calm my nerves before looking down. Despite the immediate increase in heart rate as I glanced at the name, I felt a small smile creep onto my face.
Harry had texted me periodically since our night out for drinks a week ago. He was not the best at texting and most of the messages consisted of random dad jokes sent impulsively. I also could not deny that each time I saw his contact, I blushed and tucked my phone away as if I was harboring a deep secret.
In some ways, though, Harry was my deep secret. While our friendship was still in its early stages, I developed a sort of possessiveness over him. After hearing about our semi-date, I was brutally interrogated by Rosie, Amber, and Keith. They wanted to know whether or not some of his past relationships where publicity stunts, if Larry was real, and if he secretly hated all One Direction songs. Instead of obliging their twisted questioning, I simply told them that he smelled good and remembered my drink order. I did not share that there were whispers and the slight brush of hands. That was for me.
Instead of a knock-knock joke under his name, Harry sent me an invitation to a party that night.
Technically, today was a day off for me. I gave myself an early weekend because of a steady string of private chats over the past few nights. My research for my dissertation was far ahead of half of the other students, too. I had no excuse to decline his offer.
What time and where?
*
Hours later, I was sat in the living room of Alexa Chung. It all felt quite absurd.
When I informed Molly of my plans for the night, she gave me a knowing smirk. “Oh, my god, you are going to fuck him, this is incredible.”
 “Stop, you don’t know that at all. He’s giving me very friendly vibes, maybe he just wants another friend that has impulsive tattoos?” I offered up. This was far from a date in my eyes. Not only was Harry not picking me up, he was not meeting me anywhere before, instead choosing to let me show up outside a very swanky flat at 8 that night, alone.
A man I did not know opened the door when I arrived. I did not really know what to do or say. Harry did not tell me who’s house this was, just the time and location.
“Um, hi. I’m here for the party,” I said, with an odd grimace on my face that I attempted to make look like a confident smile.
He smiled back, similarly confused, but said, “Uh, certainly. Come in, come in, it’s a bit nippy out there.” I blushed deeply as he stuttered and coughed at the end of his sentence. “Well, it’s a bit cold I mean.” He walked ahead of me, further into the luxurious flat as I tried to discretely rub my boobs so my nipples could warm slightly and not be so obviously erect. That did not help much put instead encouraged them to raise further. I groaned and hugged my open jacket tightly across my body. I’m positive I looked ill.
When we finally arrived at the end of the long hallway to a large living area, I noticed the long table filled with bread, tomatoes, and pasta. My mouth watered at the sheer amount of Italian food and at the copious bottles of wine. In those moments, I decided I would just sit at the table for the entire evening, hiding behind the bruschetta and creating a barrier of wine so no one would see my face. Clearly, Harry had other ideas.
“Jeanne, you made it!” He yelled across the room, surrounded by a gaggle of beautiful women. I gave a shy wave as he left the group to give me a hug. I felt the glares from the other girls immediately.
“Hi Harry. Nice of you to inform me of the dress code and the fact that it was a dinner party,” I complained through a tight smile. He rolled his eyes playfully at my words.
“There is no dress code, this is their casual attire, trust me. And besides, it’s mostly a drinking party with a bit of bread involved.” If I had known I would have been sitting around men and women decked out in brown leather, stilettos, and silk scarves I definitely would not have decided to go bra-less in a white shirt and jeans. My desire to have every event be casual got the best of me once again. “C’mon, lemme introduce you to some people,” he spoke as he led me around the room, hand on my low back like days before.
So that was how we arrived at the absurdity of sitting in Alexa Chung’s living room. She was chatting animatedly on the light couch in front of me as I sat facing her on her wood floor, sitting on a pillow and leaning back on the coffee table. Harry was correct that much of the food was left at the way side, which meant that I would happily be able to sneak plates of it home.
“Have you ever been to Paris, Jeanne?” Alexa asked. I downed the rest of the red wine in my glass before answering.
“Nope, but I’ve been to Nice. That’s where my dad’s family is from.”
“Wait, you’re French?” A girl, who’s name the wine haze helped me forget, asked quickly.
“Yup, only half though.”
“Hmmm, interesting.”
I was a bit confused by the way she responded. There was a tone to her words that seemed almost disappointed.
“What?” I asked, “Is a rivalry between the British and French coming to a head right now?” I attempted to joke.
“Oh no, sorry I didn’t mean anything by it. It’s just…well…Harry’s last girlfriend was French.” Before I could ask her what she meant by that, I felt a body land heavily next to mine on the floor.
“So, what’s the hot gos here ladies?” Harry slurred.
“Just talking about your dating history dear Harry,” Alexa teased.
If Harry was uncomfortable by the topic, he didn’t show it, especially with how drunk he was. By his behavior, tonight clearly was not meant to be a date. I spent most of it talking to people that happened to sit on the couch I was in front of, while I drank my wine. Harry popped in a bit now and then, but it seemed like he was deep in conversations with everyone except me at the party. It was fine.
“Wouldn’t everyone fucking like to know all about that,” he responded, picking up the bottle of wine on the coffee table behind us and putting it up to his lips.
“Hey, that’s gross,” I grumbled at him, pulling the bottle away and clutching it to my chest.
“You’re gross.”

“You have no idea.”
Harry laughed at my words and I saw some light go back into his eyes. He did not look very lively, but distracted or clouded.
“So anyway Jeanne, you absolutely have to go to Paris and to this one shop…” Alexa continued on and I nodded and smiled when appropriate, but was focused mainly on Harry’s body heat beside me. He was almost oppressively warm, no doubt from his running around the party and his alcohol consumption. Each word Alexa spoke had Harry leaning closer and closer towards my left shoulder. He smelled uniquely floral, a departure from his husky cologne days before.
Before I knew it, Alexa and her friend were no longer speaking to me. Instead, they were engaged in a heated conversation about politics with the self-proclaimed son of an Earl. I could feel Harry’s eyes burning a whole into the side of my face. I decided to blurt something out to diffuse any one-sided sexual tension I was feeling.
“You don’t seem happy.”
Harry pulled his head back in confusion and shook it back and forth, his hair not as mobile as years past. “What do you mean?” he asked, light and confused. It seemed put on for my benefit.
I shrugged. “I don’t know, you look a bit down. Maybe it’s because I’ve never seen you drunk,” I told him. Though I left out that his sad looks probably had nothing to do with his drinking, remembering stolen images of him on the internet drunk and smiley with friends. I could tell his behavior was odd.
“Well no. I’ve been talking to everyone here tonight!”
“Talking to lots of people doesn’t mean you are incapable of being sad, Harry.”
“Why do we only interact when we are drunk?”
“You are the one that has invited me to two events that were based solely on drinking. And don’t try to change the conversation on me, I’m a scholar, you need to do better than that.”
“Well here’s one, why don’t you invite me anywhere?”
I was too flustered at this question to attempt to sway him back to our conversational starting point. “Uh, I’ve invited you somewhere.”
 “Bullshit! I’m not blackout drunk, I still have my memory,” Harry said, humor thickly lacing his voice.
“I…I uh, well I’ll invite you somewhere now.” Harry waited patiently. Ideas rattled around in my head of places to take Harry that would not absolutely bore him out of his mind. “I’m going to the Victoria and Albert Museum Monday afternoon.”
He just stared at me. “And…” he responded in an exaggerated manner.
“And…I would like you to come with me. I haven’t been yet and they were your royals previously.”
“Why thank you Jeannie, I would love to.” He made a big show out of his response, bowing his head and picking up my hand to kiss delicately. I whipped my hand back, faux annoyed but secretly giddy. Harry’s laughter traveled across the room at him antics. “I haven’t been to a museum in ages.”
I began to question him as to why, but realized that he was actually someone incredibly famous. I immediately felt terrible, realizing that Harry would be unable to enjoy the outing because of his recognizable face. “Oh jeez, never mind. I didn’t even think about people recognizing you.”
“No, no, I want to go. I’m not hounded as much as I was with the band. Besides, I’m not sure how many fans will be at a museum named for royals on a Monday unless they are with a school group. It will be fine.” The smile Harry had on his face was genuine and it made me feel happy inside, not because it was directed at me, but because it made him look better. The clouds behind his eyes were not as heavy.
“Are you really okay?” I asked him one last time.
He looked me in the eye and remained silent for a good twenty seconds. I was not sure he was going to respond at all, but then he nodded slightly. “Yea, I’m feeling okay. We put the finishing touches on the album today and it just brought back some feelings, that’s all.” Suddenly, it made sense. Feelings of his ex-girlfriend. “Some of her friends are here,” he admitted. The heavy drinking finally made sense.
“How long ago did you break up?”
“Oh, a long while ago to be honest. But, it’s a bit difficult to be reminded of it so frequently. I was pretty isolated for a while so it’s weird being around it all again.”
I remained silent, letting his words sink in. I never had a long-term relationship. The longest was about four months, that ended in infidelity. I did not know what it was like to be emotionally and physically connected to someone for months or years and then to have that ripped away. “I don’t know what to say. I’m shit at relationships.”

Harry shook his head, “You don’t need to say anything, that’s all well and done. Just need to do a bit of growth again, don’t want this to set me back and put me in a funk.” After he said this, Harry’s eyes traveled to the wall in front of us, inspecting the colorful paintings on the wall. I could tell he was being introspective, thinking too deeply in his intoxicated state.
The first bars of Just Like Heaven began to play through the speakers. My ears immediately perked up and I shook Harry’s shoulders. He looked over at me lethargically, a bit like a confused puppy dog. I jumped up on my feet, only wobbling slightly as I pulled Harry up too. I dragged him to the center of the room and started flailing around to the words. “I love this song!” I yelled at him, jolting a few of the bodies around us.
Finally shaken from his reverie, Harry started bobbing his head and moving his limbs in an awkwardly hilarious fashion. Soon, we were dancing erratically to the beat, stomping on the floor and twirling around in circles. I felt like I was in kindergarten again, running around the playground playing tag with the boy I had a crush on. Those around us joined in and soon Alexa Chung’s flat was filled with moderately intoxicated people dancing to 80’s pop-punk.
“Show me how you do it, and I’ll promise you, I’ll promise that I’ll run away with you,” Harry and I sang in unison, loud and smiling. I was not embarrassed or nervous at the lyrical implications of the song, I was just jamming out with a friend. It was at this point that I genuinely felt that Harry had become a friend. We danced the most aggressively in a crowded room without a care in the world.
“Hey Jeanne!” Harry yelled over the music, “You’re just like a dream!” I laughed loudly at his repetition of the lyrics. I even gave a little bow. We giggled around the room and I felt the lightest I had in a while. I did not notice until later that night that Harry’s eyes looked the brightest I’ve ever seen right when he sang to me, “You’re just like heaven.”

Little White Lies - Chapter 6
Tumblr media
TJ woke to the loud, angry tone of his alarm for the first time since the morning of Molly's death, his head immediately throbbing as he sat up. Amber was sleeping next to him, as she had on occasion since the day they came home from the hospital. "Ambs, wake up," he mumbled, shaking her awake. "I hate you." "Mhm, I know. We have school today, though. In...two hours." "Fuck," Amber grumbled, mostly to herself. "Why did we choose today?" "...It- it's Monday?" TJ offered. "And we have to get back to school, Ambs." "I know, I know. But I started my period like two days ago and we just ran out of pads and tampons," she huffed, burying her face back in her pillow. "Listen, I'll run to the store. You get ready, alright?" TJ offered, grabbing Amber and his set of car keys and turning to his bedroom door. "Thanks, Teej," she said, reluctantly pushing the covers off of herself and starting down the hall to get dressed. "Eh, don't mention it. You're the one just casually bleeding out every damn month," TJ responded, jogging outside with a quick call over his shoulder to their mom.
TJ stepped through the automatic doors of the supermarket, pausing for a moment to glance in both directions as his eyes adjusted to the fluorescent lighting overhead. He took a right, before turning into his aisle. He was halfway through doing his damnedest to calculate the best deal when someone said his name, startling him from his reverie of numbers and long division symbols. "TJ?" He glanced up to find Andi Mack, of all the people in the world. "Oh, hey," he greeted, chuckling to himself at the awkward nature of the situation. "Nice to see you again?" "Yeah," Andi laughed slightly, stepping into the aisle. "May I ask why you're... here, specifically?" she asked, gesturing vaguely to what was effectively a wall of period products in front of TJ. "Amber needed pads," he laughed, quickly deciding on and grabbing a box, 99% sure it was the same one they always had at their house. "Ah. And here I am trying to convince Bex that she really doesn't need more fabric softener. We literally have four bottles of it at our apartment." "Hey, you never know! Maybe she likes really, really soft clothes?" TJ defended. "Listen, I've been meaning to talk to you, do you have a minute?" "Y-yeah, of course. As long as I catch Mom before she walks out of here with a lifetime supply of fabric softener, one less deed to a business, and a date at bankruptcy court." "I wanted to thank you for being there for Amber at the funeral," he said. "And I- I wanted to tell you that I think you should tell her." "Tell her what?" "Tell her you're in love with her," TJ said. "Yeah okay, like it's that simple," Andi scoffed. "I know, I know. I just- I think you should tell her." "Does she even like me? Or girls in general?" Andi asked skeptically. "I don't know?" TJ bluffed. "You are literally her twin brother, of course you know." "No, I think you don't understand. I literally have no idea, Andi. That girl is an enigma and a half. Just talk to her, alright?" "Fine, I will. But I have to get going." Andi nodded goodbye to TJ, before turning to walk away. She stopped just before rounding the corner, turning to face TJ. "You and Amber come back to school today, don't you?" "Yeah, we do. I'll see you there?" "As long as I can still afford not to have a job after Mom's fabric softener spree." "Jesus, I sincerely hope you're exaggerating for the sake of comedy."
TJ took a deep breath, fiddling with the bottom of his hoodie. He and Amber were wearing similar things, both having chosen primarily black outfits. If asked why, they'd mumble something or other about their clothing choices relying simply on whatever it was that tumbled from their closets that morning. However, both knew that their sudden affinity for dark, muted clothing revolved around their wish to blend into the rest of the world today, to melt away from everyone else and bleed into near invisible blurs of black fabric and blonde hair. "Okay?" Amber asked, glancing at her brother. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Let's just- get this over with?" Amber nodded, taking a step toward the front doors. The twins' first synchronized footstep into the hallway fell heavily against the shiny linoleum like a textbook being dropped to the ground from the arms of a clumsy student, drawing all eyes in the hallway to them. A quiet murmur spread through the hall as they felt a hundred pairs of eyes resting on them, the sympathy surrounding them nearly tangible as they walked. "I hate this so much. Why can't they just leave us alone?" TJ whispered to Amber. "Me too," she agreed, turning toward her locker. TJ opened his next to her, silently putting his books in his bag. He pulled the tall stack of homework he'd done out of the severely worn backpack, rifling through it and putting the homework for his afternoon classes back in his locker before swinging it shut with a satisfying clang. "I've gotta go to class," TJ mumbled, training his eyes on the ground to avoid students' gazes.
TJ and Cyrus walked side by side toward Mrs. Bailey's room, Cyrus doing his best to shoo people's gazes away from them as they walked. When TJ glanced up to find Cyrus angrily mouthing something about 'leaving him alone' to a freshman, he stopped dead in his tracks, turning to face everyone in the hallway. "Hi, can I have your attention for a second? Yes, my sister is dead. Yes, she died almost a month ago in the hospital. I know, I was there. Now, if you could all stop boring me with sympathy that I know you do not intend sincerely, that'd be lovely." With that, he pivoted on his heel, turning down the hall. "I'm sorry, Teej. I tried to get them to stop spreading rumors and stuff," Cyrus apologized, following him into Mrs. Bailey's room. "It's fine, Underdog. You didn't do anything wrong." TJ responded, taking his seat alongside his best friend as the final bell rang loudly through the room. "Alright, class!" Mrs. Bailey called for the attention of the class. "This class period is going to be dedicated to your projects. Today, we're going to write a quick reflection on your projects thus far. Those interviewing partners, write a short summary of what you've found about your partners. And those being interviewed, reflect upon your experience. In fifteen minutes, turn them in and keep working on asking questions." Cyrus quickly got to work, writing out a string of blatantly emotionless adjectives describing TJ. He desperately wanted to avoid writing anything too personal about him. When fifteen minutes was up, he turned it in with a sigh, thoroughly unimpressed with his work. He turned back to talk to TJ, sitting next to him and opening his computer. "Alright, Teej. Where is your favorite place on Earth?" "Hmm... I don't really know. I guess, there's this tree in the woods behind my house. It's pretty, and you can see the whole city from the top." "I wanna see it sometime!" Cyrus exclaimed. "Okay, Underdog. Whatever you say," TJ winked, smiling slightly. "Cyrus, can I talk to you for a second?" Mrs. Bailey asked from her desk behind them. "Yeah of course, what's up?" Cyrus asked, standing up and stepping toward her desk. "This." She held up Cyrus's work. "Is not good enough. I want it done again by the end of the period. And I want it to be done right this time, or you and TJ both get zeroes, no matter what his essay says." "But he just got back from bereavement leave!" "I know, Cyrus. But I also know you can do better than some adjectives and a full name." "...Fine."
At the end of class, Cyrus was handed back his newly written paper with a bright red 100 at the top, circled multiple times. "Oooh, can I read it now?" TJ asked excitedly. Cyrus held it away from him, shaking his head in disapproval. "No!" he exclaimed. "It's not like you don't already know everything I wrote in here!" "Not true! I wanna know what you wrote about me!" TJ huffed, lunging forward and pulling the paper from his hands as the bell rang, allowing students to file out of the classroom. TJ, however, stayed back with Cyrus, leaning back against their table and reading down the paper.
Timothy James Kippen's favorite color is blue. If you were to ask him why, he'd say it's because blue is the color of the sky and of the ocean, of possibility and languid happiness. But he won't tell you that blue is laced into his mother's eyes. That the first gift she ever gave her daughters lay in the clear blue shining in their eyes. He won't tell you that he's spent years wishing for the crystal blue eyes he wasn't given. Instead, he fell into green. Timothy James Kippen's least favorite color is green. He'll never tell you why, but he knows it's because the very green he holds in his eyes was a gift from the one person he's never wanted a gift from. The one gift he could never return, etched permanently into his eyes. TJ is woven out of threads made of midnight walks in the dark, 11:11 wishes, movie ticket stubs, and the few pages precious enough to have been torn from the spines of their journals. He is shelves upon shelves of books, all adorned with notes in black ink along the margins, and countless weathered atlases and world maps, each marked with places he wants to go, things he wants to see, people he wants to meet. He is warm, gentle, blue cotton. But he's been dyed green. The dye has stiffened him, tangled the threads that weave through him. He's slowly washing the green away, softening again. But with time, maybe the dye will fade completely. Maybe he'll be warm and kind and loving again. Maybe he'll be blue again. But for now, he's settled for teal.

Bechloe Week Day 2 - Coworkers
[AO3]
“Good morning Beca!” Chloe said cheerily.
 Beca grunted in response.
 “Rough night?” Chloe asked.
 Beca sighed as she sat down at her desk.
 “I had a great night.” Chloe said. “My best friend, Aubrey, is in town for a few days so we went out for dinner last night! It was just like old times! You could join us tonight, if you want?”
 “I can’t.” Beca said.
 “That’s okay! Maybe another time.”
***
“Good morning Beca!”
 Beca grunted as she sat down.
 “How are you today?” Chloe was unfazed by Beca’s behaviour. Beca didn’t respond. “I’m feeling good today! I hope your day gets better!”
***
“Good morning Beca!”
 Beca sat at her desk and buried her head in her hands.
 “Did you hear Sherrie is pregnant?” Chloe asked. “It’s so exciting! I love kids!”
 “Really? I had no idea.” Beca mumbled.
 “Sorry, I didn’t catch that.” Chloe said. “What did you say?”
 “Nothing.”
 “Oh, I thought you said something.” Chloe shrugged.
 ***
 “Good morni–”
 “Miss Mitchell!”
 Beca flinched as her boss came out of his office.
 “Yes, Mr. Higgins?” Beca said.
 “Can I speak to you?”
 “Yes sir. Just a minute.” Beca set her bag down on her desk as Mr. Higgins went back into his office.
 “What do you think he wants?” Chloe asked.
 Beca shrugged, “When do we ever know what he wants?”
 Chloe giggled, “Good luck!”
 Beca entered Mr. Higgins’ office and closed the door. She took a few steps towards his desk and waited.
 “Miss Mitchell, I wanted to talk to you because…” Mr. Higgins paused, “There’s been some… concerns around the office.”
 “Concerns?” Beca asked. “Is there a problem with my work?”
 “Not those kinds of concerns.” Mr. Higgins shuffled papers around on his desk. Beca raised her eyebrows as she waited for him to continue. “Some people have been saying that you… might not be a great fit for the team. That you’re too closed off and… that you don’t work well with others.”
 “So you’re firing me?” Beca asked incredulously.
 “God no!” Mr. Higgins said. “Honestly Beca, you’re the only one here with half a brain, besides me. I’d be stupid to fire you.”
 “Then why are we having this conversation?”
 “Because it’s important that all my employees get along. It’s good for team morale, as I’m sure you can imagine.” Mr. Higgins said. “And, if morale is up, productivity goes up! Do you see what I’m saying?”
 “Not really.”
 “I’d like for you to give an effort to be more friendly with your coworkers.”
 “I’m not unfriendly.” Beca said indignantly.
 Mr. Higgins laughed. “Beca, we both know you don’t like the people here. I’m not the only one who can see that. Can you at least pretend like these aren’t the worst people to spend 8 hours a day with?”
 Beca knew this was a battle she wouldn’t win. “I’ll do my best.”
 “Great!” Mr. Higgins stood up and handed Beca a folder. “In order to make this easier for you, I’ve taken the liberty of drafting this joint project for you to work on. And I hope you don’t mind that I’ve asked Miss Beale to work on it with you.”
 “Nope. Not at all.” Beca gave a tight-lipped smile.
 “Perfect!” Mr. Higgins lead Beca out of his office. “Don’t forget what we talked about.”
 Chloe was smirking as Beca walked back to her desk. Beca glared at her.
 “You already knew about this, didn’t you?”
 “Maybe.” Chloe said innocently. “So, when do you want to get started? Mr. Higgins said we could use one of the conference rooms if we like, and Mike did a similar project a few months ago and I’m positive he’d be willing to help if we have questions and–”
 “Can I take a look at this first?” Beca said. “Unlike you, and Mike apparently, I get to work at a reasonable time.”
 “Be my guest.” Chloe smiled. “Just let me know when you’re done.”
 ***
 It wasn’t a hard project, but it was long and tedious. Beca didn’t understand why the company needed this project done – well, she knew why it needed to be done, she just didn’t understand why she needed to be the one doing it. She didn’t understand why it mattered whether she was friendly with her coworkers or not. She got her work done just fine and it wasn’t like she was outwardly rude to any of them. The worst part about it all, in Beca’s opinion, was who she had to work with.
 “Good morning Beca! Are you ready for a great day of work?”
 “How are you excited?” Beca asked, “It’s 8 in the morning and we still have to do this ridiculous project.”
 “The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and I’m having a great day!” Chloe said. Beca rolled her eyes.
 “It’s raining.”
 ***
 “Good morning Beca!” Chloe said, “I bought you a coffee!” Chloe pointed to where a coffee cup, still steaming, was sitting on Beca’s desk.
 “Dude, why?”
 “Because you always seem to be tired in the mornings! I thought it might help!”
 “Oh.” Beca said, “Thanks, I think.”
 “You’re welcome! Ready to work?”
 Beca nodded and took a sip of her coffee. She raised her eyebrows at the taste; Chloe actually got her order right. Chloe smiled and turned to her computer.
 After a few hours, Chloe turned away from her computer and poked Beca in the arm. Beca jumped and raised her eyebrows at Chloe.
 “What?” Beca said.
 “Do you wanna go get lunch?” Chloe asked.
 “I brought food.”
 Chloe stuck her tongue out. “Come on Becs, it’ll be fun! We’ve been working all morning! We deserve a break.”
 “You can go, you have an hour lunch break. I’m not stopping you.” Beca turned back to her computer.
 “But Beca!” Chloe practically whined, “I want to get lunch with you! Please?”
 Beca sighed and turned back to Chloe with every intention of saying no, but one glance at Chloe’s pout and Beca felt her resolve wavering.
 “Fine. Just this once.”
 “Yay!” Chloe jumped out of her seat and grabbed her purse. “Let’s go!”
 Beca shook her head fondly as Chloe skipped ahead of her down the hallway.
 Chloe took Beca to a small cafe a few blocks away. It was a very “Chloe” place, in Beca’s opinion. The cashier waved as they entered and Chloe said hi to almost everyone. Beca, on the other hand, kept her head down and followed Chloe until they sat down. Chloe insisted on ordering for both of them, and Beca had tried to protest but Chloe had already skipped to the front counter. Chloe came back with two sandwiches and two coffees.
 “This is my favourite thing to get here, so dig in!” Chloe said as she placed the plate in front of Beca.
 “Thanks. How much do I owe you?” Beca asked.
 Chloe waved off her question. “Don’t worry about it! My treat.”
 “Are you sure?” Beca said, “It’s not a problem, I can pay you back.”
 “You can pay next time.” Chloe said.
 “Oh, okay. Sure.” Beca said. She took a sip of her drink before she realized what Chloe just said. She choked a little. “Next time?”
 “Yeah! It’s not like this is the last time we’ll get lunch together for the rest of our lives.” Chloe said.
 “Right. Yeah.”
 Lunch seemed to fly by, in Beca’s mind. Before she knew it, they were packing up their trash and throwing it out. As they were heading to the door, they were stopped by a woman calling out Chloe’s name. Chloe stopped and squealed when she saw who it was.
 “OMG hi!” Chloe said. She hugged the woman.
 “Hi! Long time no see!” She said, “And who’s your girlfriend?”
 Beca was about to correct her when Chloe spoke up.
 “This is Beca, we work together.” Chloe said. Beca gave an awkward wave.
 “Dating at work? Chloe you dirty bird!”
 Chloe shrugged but didn’t say anything.
 “We should go.” Beca said suddenly, “It’s getting late and we only have an hour break.”
 “Of course!” The woman winked at Beca, “Call me later Chlo, and we’ll get drinks or something.”
 “Totes!”
 Beca kept giving Chloe weird looks the entire way back to their office. She didn’t know why Chloe didn’t correct the woman that they weren’t dating. Beca hoped she wasn’t reading the situation wrong and that was just two coworkers who might be friends getting lunch and not a date.
 “What’s with the looks?” Chloe asked.
 “You told her we were dating.”
 “That’s just Stacie.” Chloe shrugged, “Date to her just means hook up.”
 “But we’re not hooking up.” Beca said.
 “Not yet.” Chloe winked.
 Beca sputtered as she tried to think of a response. Chloe stopped and smirked at her. Beca realized they were in front of their building. Beca shook her head and walked through the door.
 ***
 “Woohoo!” Chloe said, “We’re finally done!”
 “Yay.” Beca said.
 “Come on!” Chloe grabbed Beca’s shoulders and shook her. “Show some enthusiasm! We finished the really boring project no one else wanted!”
 Beca smiled, “Yay!” She gave a small fist bump.
 “Close enough!”
 Beca had to admit, her and Chloe were a good team. They worked well together. The project took half as long as it should have and Beca knew she wouldn’t have been able to do it with anyone but Chloe. In all honesty, Beca was a little sad that the project was over. Not because she enjoyed the work, because it was terrible and she hated every minute of it, but because she wouldn’t be working with Chloe anymore.
 Beca returned to her normal work and Chloe to hers. Mr. Higgins was impressed with their work and congratulated Beca on her ability to work with others. Everything went back to normal for Beca, except, she found that she missed working with Chloe. Not working, she missed spending time with her. Beca tried to ignore what she was feeling, after all, she wasn’t the type to initiate friendships.
 “Hey Beca.” Chloe whispered from her desk. Beca felt her mood brighten instantly.
 “Yeah?”
 “What are you doing later?” Chloe asked. Beca checked her calendar even though she knew she was doing nothing.
 “I don’t have anything planned.” She said. Chloe grinned.
 “Do you want to get dinner?”
 “Yes.” Beca said without hesitation.
 “Awes! I’ll pick you up at 6?”
 “Yeah, sounds good.”
 Chloe smiled and went back to her desk. Beca watched her for a moment before she returned to her own work. She smiled as she thought about her new dinner plans.

Tumblr Connections Ch.6
**As always, thank you to my amazing beta @judgemental-llama and a reminder that this story is also on AO3 with the same name**
One minute I’m on top of the world, then the next I’m at rock bottom.
TJ traced his eyes over the words, leaning back in his computer chair as he sighed. What am I doing anymore? He thought about Cyrus, his warm smile, the way his mere presence made TJ weak in the knees, and then he thought about the boy he had been talking to online. I’m starting to feel the same for him as I do for Cyrus… Suddenly his phone started buzzing from where it presided next to his keyboard and he picked it up. Speak of the devil. Hitting accept, he raised the phone up to his left ear, leaning his cheek against his opposite hand.
“Hey Underdog. Do you need something?” He asked softly, his heartbeat immediately speeding up when he mentioned the other boy.
“Teej! I can’t call you just because I want to talk?” Cyrus asked, his voice sounding light as he laughed softly. Damn this boy… I’m falling hard for him.
“Of course you can. It’s just… we were literally together like an hour ago.” TJ said, his voice taking on a teasing edge. He wasn’t complaining. He could talk to Cyrus all the time and never get tired of hearing his voice.
“I missed you. Simple as that my not-so-scary-basketball-guy. Besides, I’m bored. Wanna come over?” TJ could hear muffled sounds on the other side of the phone and he knew the younger boy had just laid on his bed. Okay TJ, little creepy. You need to calm down.
“People might think we’re dating. We are together all the time.” The basketball player mentioned, not fully able to stop the hopeful tone his voice took on. Holding his breath he waited for Cyrus’ response.
“Oh never! You’re my best friend and I enjoy spending time with you. That’s all. Nothing more. Nothing less either. I mean does that make sense, because you know-“ Cyrus began rambling, breaking TJ’s heart more and more with every word. Never…
“Okay, yeah I get it. I’d never be interested in you either, don’t worry. I’ll be over in an hour. Bye.” TJ said bitterly before pulling the phone away from his ear to hang up, not giving Cyrus the chance to answer. He threw his phone down onto his desk and groaned loudly before slamming his fist down onto this desk, hissing in pain after he did.
“Oh fuck…” He mumbled to himself, cradling his hand to his chest. That’s going to for sure leave a bruise.  Remembering he never answered Cy back, he opened his messages on tumblr through his computer and smiled at what he saw.
Cy: Okay, not that I’m complaining… but are you okay? Do you want to talk about it? Ducky is an idiot for not wanting you.
Smiling, TJ remembered how he had come up with that name for his -no not his- Underdog. He was watching a movie with his family and they were watching The Land Before Time (Amber had voted for it) and he remembered how much Cyrus loved dinosaurs. Thus TJ started referring to him as Ducky (one of the characters) in his head and online.
Tris: Uh, no I don’t think so. I’d rather not talk about him at this moment. How are things going with your dear Lemon?
TJ hesitated before pressing send, wondering why he really didn’t want to know about the other guy. He’s just an online friend right? I don’t even really know him. He thought, leaning back to run his fingers through his hair as his eyes stayed trained on the blinking cursor on his screen. Sighing as he leaned forward, TJ held his finger to the backspace key, deleting his question before sending his message. Before he could retype out his question he shut his laptop with an audible thump and pushed his chair back to stand up and head to his best friend’s house.
The entire duration of his walk there, the only thing filling his mind was a constant battle of Cyrus vs Cy. Flipping back and forth between his online friend and his real life friend, his mind came to a screeching halt and he stopped dead in his tracks. Cy...rus? Could Cyrus really be Cy? Shaking his head, he continued walking, seeing Cyrus house enter his view. No way, he would’ve mentioned Tumblr at least once by now. Cyrus doesn’t keep secrets. Stuffing his hands into his pockets he made it the rest of the way to Cyrus’ front door and hesitated. He knew he could walk right in, but for some reason, it felt wrong doing that today. Ringing the bell he rocked on his heels while he waited for the door to open.
“Teej? You do remember you can just walk in right?” Cyrus said as soon as he opened the door, a confused look etched onto his features. TJ nodded his head awkwardly and shrugged, squeezing past Cyrus to get inside the house.
“Uh, yeah, sorry. Must’ve forgotten.” He said softly, leaning down to untie his shoes before slipping them off and carefully placing them beside each other next to the door. Standing up straight again, he glanced at Cyrus to see him scrutinizing him before shrugging slightly and heading upstairs to his room.
“So the GHC is having a movie night here on Friday if you would like to come.” Cyrus said once they were up the stairs. TJ coughed slightly and nodded before realizing Cyrus still had his back to him. Dumbass he thought, closing his eyes tightly as he flushed with embarrassment.
“Of course I’ll be there. When have I ever missed an opportunity to hang out with my boy.” TJ said before he could really think about what he was saying. He heard Cyrus draw in a quick breath and his eyes widened as he realized what he had said. Quickly turning, he went to Cyrus’ desk and sat in his chair, he knee knocking against the desk and causing the laptops screen to light up. Out of curiosity, TJ turned and scanned the screen, his heart dropping down into his stomach as he realized what he was reading. It was Cyrus’ tumblr page- correction Cy’s and he had just made a post before TJ arrived at Cyrus’ house.
Dear Lemon,
*I’m jumping on this train with my mans Tristian*
When I look at you, I see endless smiles. I see secrets, whispered with a breathy laugh and a chaste kiss. I see us, lounging at my house while I make you watch Love, Simon with me over and over as I shamelessly cry. I see us, hanging out with my friends, laughing at whatever new stupid thing I say.
I see us, but I also see him. I see him being there for me when you aren’t. I see him comforting me when you lash out at me again and I’m crying while blaming myself. I see him and I see a possibility of a future, not just the slight chance I could ever have with you. I want him.
I see him, but I love you even if you don’t love me.
Reading through, TJ couldn’t help the tears that filled his eyes. He hastily wiped his eyes and closed the laptop softly. He remembered the post he had made about Cyrus. It was basically the same thing Cyrus (or should he start saying Cy?) had posted, calling out how he knew there was something going on between him and Ander, how he was losing hope. He just never expected… this.
“Hey Cy?” He said softly, still not wanting to come face to face with the person on the receiving end of his crush. He could hear Cyrus shuffled behind him then a hand was placed on his shoulder as he flinched.
“Yeah Teej?” Cyrus asked, concern lacing his voice as TJ shrugged his hand off his shoulder. He cleared his throat and stood up quickly, knowing the chair into Cyrus in the process, causing him to groan at the impact.
“Oh! I’m sorry Underdog, I didn’t mean to- I just- Is there anything going on between you and Ander?” He rushed out, reaching forward to place his hand on Cyrus’ upper arm in a form of comfort. Cyrus furrowed his brows and shook his head, stepping forward to wrap his arms around TJ’s middle. Hesitating slightly, TJ wrapped his arms around Cyrus shoulders, resting his chin on top of the smaller boys head.
“That really hurt Teej. I am fragile you know.” Cyrus mumbled against the basketball player’s chest. The statement causes TJ to chuckle, shaking his head a bit before pulling back to look at Cyrus who glanced up at him. He caught a small flicker of Cyrus’ eyes, his own eyes drifting down to Cyrus’ lip momentarily before swallowing thickly as he hastily brought his eyes back up to the brown eyed boys. He didn’t know who had leaned in first, but before he knew it he could feel his nose bump against Cyrus’, their lips less than an inch apart. All he had to do was lean forward a little more and-
Cyrus jumped back, his face turning a deep shade of red as TJ’s phone began ringing loudly and he groaned, pulling it out of his pocket, checking the caller ID before answering.
“Amber, what do you want I was a little- woah. Calm down. What’s going on? Stop crying and talk to me dammit!” TJ’s face morphed from one of annoyance to one of panic and concern. He turned to Cyrus, his eyes wide. “I’ll be there soon okay? I’m coming now.” TJ pulled the phone away from his ear and hastily shoved it into his pocket, his eyes filling with tears.
“TJ, what’s wrong? You’re scaring me.” Cyrus said softly, reaching his hand out towards the older boy, who stepped back.
“C-can your mom take me to the hospital? Please?” TJ said, his words bumping into one another, almost incomprehensible. Cyrus nodded slowly, grabbing TJ’s hand in his own and leading TJ down the stairs, his head swimming with the information he had just heard. TJ numbly slipped his shoes on, barely registering that Cyrus was talking to his mom behind him before walking over to Cyrus who was slipping on his jacket.
“Can you tell me what happened Teej? Please.” Cyrus pleaded, grabbing both of TJ’s trembling hands in his own as he looked up at the glassy eyed boy.
“My mom… She got in the car accident on the way home. Amber wouldn’t tell me how bad it is…” He said softly, allowing Cyrus to pull him in for a hug as he squeezed the smaller boy tightly. I could never tell him I’m Tristian… It would ruin our friendship and his post… He’s with Ander now. TJ sighed, pulling back to look down at his best friend and frowned. I never really had a chance.
*I’m sorry my lovelies! But I promise our boys will be together and happy soon enough! Don’t hate me:((*
