-
The morning after you gave Leigh a puppy for her birthday, your phone is flooded with texts from her, filled with questions ranging from vaccine schedules to the best chew toys. She shares a story about how Rogue, their previous dog, had always been Matt’s, and how she often felt left out of his care. Now, with Logan, she feels a full sense of ownership and is eager to get everything right.
You still flinch slightly whenever she mentions her late husband. It’s as if she forgets that you and Matt had something significant too, as if you weren't once the secret he kept close. Sometimes, you wish you could just erase his presence, simplify everything about your relationship with Leigh.
But you recognize that it’s selfish to wish him away, because Matt was a significant part of Leigh’s life, a major influence on who she has become. And who she is today is a lovely person—someone you've come to admire very deeply.
[6:20 AM] Leigh: Logan’s an angel, slept through the night.
[6:35 AM] Leigh: So, house training... how do I make sure Logan doesn’t turn my bed into his personal bathroom like he did five seconds ago?
You grimace at the message, picturing the hassle of laundering the sheets and possibly needing to call a cleaning service for the mattress.
[6:54 AM] Leigh: And shots? Rogue was all up to date because Matt was on it, but I’m clueless. Where do I start?
As you work your espresso machine, a grin spreads across your face, the kind that makes you feel like a complete fool but in the best possible way.
[6:56 AM] You: Good morning! You’re lucky I don’t bill for text consultations 😆
You typically charge $18 for a twenty-minute chat with a client.
[6:58 AM] Leigh: Oh. How much do I owe you? I want to pay.
Your smile falters a little at her missing your joke.
[6:58 AM] You: I was just kidding. Your texts are more than welcome, Leigh.
Feeling bold, you follow that up with something you've been wanting to make clear since last night.
[6:59 AM] You: This is what friends are for, right?
Waiting for Leigh’s reply feels like an eternity, and you're about to send another text to walk back your hint at friendship when your phone vibrates.
[7:00 AM] Leigh: I’d feel better paying. Can I drop by the clinic later?
Reading her message, you're hit with a rush—excited at the thought of seeing her, yet downhearted she's talking about paying, as if that's what's between you. But then, those little typing dots appear. You're practically holding your breath.
[7:00 AM] Leigh: We’re friends, which is why I’m paying.
It's a good thing you don't have a roommate, or else you'd never get away with grinning like an idiot at your phone. It's a bit ridiculous, you think, how high school this all feels—waiting for a glimpse, a moment, anything.
[7:01 AM] You: Absolutely, come by anytime. Looking forward to it 🙂
You hit send and lean back, trying to act like you didn't just have a mini celebration over a text.
And then, spurred by Leigh texting you first thing in the morning, you decide to add her on your social media accounts. You spend an extra fifteen minutes getting ready that morning, simply because you lingered longer in the shower, listening to songs that remind you of Leigh and how this crush is dangerously close to becoming something uncontainable.
-
[10:13 AM] Notification: Leigh accepted your friend request.
-
As it turns out, Leigh is a serial texter.
It’s odd, really. For someone who might come across as reclusive and somewhat untouchable, she is surprisingly talkative over text. The messages start coming in more frequently after this morning's exchange, just moments after you've finally left home to drive to your clinic. What's even more interesting is that this time, they're not about Logan.
And they’re all unusually random and unrelated to one another: memes that make you laugh out loud, articles on topics ranging from the philosophical implications of artificial intelligence to the best way to juicing recipes. You find yourself waiting for these messages, eager to see what tangent Leigh's mind has wandered off to now. You get into it, dissecting the articles she sends over with the seriousness of a scholar. You type back your thoughts, trying to sound as insightful as possible, maybe even a bit witty, hoping to impress her. You imagine this might be her way of initiating deeper, intellectual conversations between you two.
So, when you send back a paragraph or two analyzing the latest article she's shared, maybe touching on its impacts on modern society or offering a counterpoint to the author's thesis, Leigh's responses aren’t what you expect. Instead of engaging with the discussion, she sends a  simple thumbs-up emoji or, even more baffling, a random factoid about her day, like her opinion on the Kani salad from a sushi bar near the Beautiful Beast gym.
[12:15 PM] Leigh: [sent a photo] Just some store-bought crab sticks and diluted mayo. Don’t try it. Their saké though is 👌👌👌
You wonder why she’s having Japanese rice wine this early in the day.
[12:22 PM] You: Thanks for the heads up. I know a place for authentic Japanese food. You want to check it out with me some time?
Your text remains unseen for the rest of the afternoon.
-
You find yourself staring intently at the wall clock in your clinic, keenly aware of each minute slipping by, and with it, the dwindling chance of Leigh arriving before the doors lock for the day. As it nears 8 in the evening, Suzie is already wrapped up in her end-of-day tasks across the lobby. Leaning your cheek on your palm, you watch blankly as she meticulously arranges her desk, perfectly aligning each item, then moves on to gently pull the blinds closed on each window.
Suzie’s not blind. She throws you these knowing glances every time you let out one of your heavy sighs. Finally, after you've probably sighed loud enough to be heard next door, she stops what she's doing and plants herself in front of you.
“What’s going on?” she asks.
You try to look puzzled. “Nothing. Why?”
Suzie rolls her eyes. “Please, you’ve been mooning over that clock and sighing like you’re carrying the world on your shoulders. What’s up?”
You crack a smile, partly at her description, partly from being caught moping like a lovesick teenager. “It’s just… I thought maybe Leigh would come by. She said she would,” you say, wincing at yourself when the last part comes out a bit whiny.
Without missing a beat, Suzie pivots from her closing duties and makes her way over to you.
She’s not delicate with you this time. “You’re doing that thing again. Waiting around for something that’s probably not gonna happen. It’s not doing you any good.”
You know she's hitting the nail on the head, but it's tough to swallow.
Suzie continues, “You're young, you're attractive, and it's honestly weird that you're pining over your ex's ex. At first, I thought it was kind of adorable, in a bizarre, romantic-comedy kind of way. But now, it's like you're always hung up and disappointed.”
“Thanks for saying I’m young when I’m five years older than you,” you say with a sheepish smile, hiding your disappointment that she isn’t saying the things you want to hear, such as the possibility that Leigh just got busy.
Suzie shakes her head in disapproval. She's fed up, and her next words aren't going to be sugar-coated. “Snap out of it!” she barks, the command hitting you like a cold splash of water, and you jerk back in your chair, wide-eyed. Seeing you shrink back, quivering, she softens a bit and shifts back to the harmless receptionist you’re used to.
“Look at me, Y/N,” Suzie says, ensuring she has your full attention. You manage to meet her gaze, even though your eyelids feel heavy. “It's not fair to Leigh, either. You're giving meaning to everything she does—or doesn't do. It's putting her in an impossible situation. And honestly, it's not fair to you. You're missing out on your own life, waiting for someone who... well, who might never show up the way you want her to.”
Suzie knows she’s being tough, but sometimes love means being the friend who won’t let you settle for anything less than you deserve.
“I hear you, okay? It’s just… it’s the way I’m wired. I latch onto a person like a leech, refusing to let go until I see it through,” you mutter, shielding your face with your hands, a bit ashamed to even say it out loud. You get so tunnel-visioned, missing out on maybe better things and experiences because you're stuck on one track. You fall hard for your choices, never by chance.
“Good. You know what’s wrong with you,” Suzie says softly.
You let out a weak chuckle, the sound tinged with a bit of self-mockery. You're half-hidden behind your hands, peeking out at Suzie as if she's got all the answers. Suzie pries your fingers away from your face and then pinches your cheek so hard, you start to whine a bit.
“Ow! What was that for?” you protest, rubbing your assaulted cheek.
“That's for being a pathetic little bitch.”
“Excuse me, I'm still the one signing your paychecks,” you shoot back, trying to sound offended but it’s hard to keep a straight face.
“Sure thing, boss,” she laughs, and you join in.
“Okay, so what do you suggest I do then?” you ask as the last of your chuckles die down.
“Go on a date,” comes her swift response. “All that stuff they say about love finding you when you're not looking? Biggest lie ever.”
You look at her curiously, assessing her physical features. “W-With you?”
“Dude, no! Not with me!” Suzie exclaims, laughing nervously. “I mean, sure, I'd take you out if you weren't my boss, but I don't see that happening anytime soon unless you fire me.”
“Got it, got it,” you say, still chuckling. Suzie realizes too late that you were just teasing her and huffs. “Not with you. But seriously, go on a date? Just like that?”
“Yeah. Just meet someone.”
“You make it sound like it’s easy.”
“Because it is,” she says with a shrug. “Here. Give me your phone.”

Leigh doesn’t know what to do with the fact that you may or may not have feelings for her.
So, she does what she does best: Pretend.
Leigh pretends you’re not EspressoEyes. In her mind, it could just be a coincidence, and you might not be the person who wrote to her advice column. Without any concrete evidence, she holds onto this notion, using it as a shield to fend off the uncertainties and doubts that would follow if she believed otherwise.
Leigh pretends because she needs your help to figure out how to care for Logan. Because maybe she wants to be friends. When you join her for a run, you don’t press for conversation, a rare companion who's not afraid of silence. Having you around feels like having Matt around, in a way that she's reminded of him when you talk about the same things you like, the same books you've read, and the same music you listen to.
Leigh pretends it doesn’t bother her in case you are EspressoEyes. She’s no stranger to turning heads as she walks down the street, accustomed to the attention. There's a certain power in being desired, and Leigh revels in it. But the idea of you liking her doesn't quite make sense to her; it's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. It’s not because you’re a woman—she’s been with women before. What Leigh can't wrap her head around is that you, of all people, could actually be into her. After all, she hasn’t exactly been her most charming self since you two met. Even her best friend is keeping a cautious distance. She’s been wearing down the people closest to her, those who are supposed to like her the most.
And this bewilderment doesn't sit well with Leigh. She is someone who thrives on understanding, on knowing where she stands with people and why. So, when pretending isn’t enough, she does what she does second-best: Avoid.
She must have been waiting in her car outside your clinic for the better part of the evening, debating with herself about what to do next. She's parked just out of view, positioned so she can see the clinic entrance without being too conspicuous. She hasn't eaten dinner yet, her stomach growling, but she remains glued to her spot across from where she knows you're waiting for her.
Ever since you subtly asked her out through text, she’s been on edge, second-guessing her actions (texting and sharing posts on the internet with you all morning, what was she thinking?) and wondering what they might have meant to you. Leigh didn’t mean to leave you hanging—she did come to your clinic, sort of. She remembers typing out a response to you, something witty and non-committal, but her finger hovered over the ‘send’ button before pulling back. It felt like too much, too soon. She needed time to think, to figure out why the idea of checking out authentic Japanese food with you left her feeling so conflicted inside.
Leigh's guilt gnaws at her as she sits there, wrestling with how to extricate herself without causing further confusion—or worse, hurt. Eventually, it all comes to a head. She finally gives in, typing out a message to you on her phone with a shaky urgency.
[7:53 PM] Leigh: I'm so sorry, something came up. I can't make it to the clinic after all.
Your reply comes quickly, much to her astonishment, especially since she hadn't opened your message all afternoon.
[7:54 PM] You: It's fine, don't worry about it. I can have Logan's supplies delivered to your place if that works better for you.
Reading your text, Leigh bites her lip, another surge of guilt washing over her. Your kindness, your willingness to accommodate her, only complicates this predicament further.
[7:54 PM] Leigh: Yes, that would be great, thank you.
[7:54 PM] Leigh: How much do I owe you?
As she starts nibbling at her cuticle, Leigh is eager to resolve at least the financial aspect of her obligation. Though she knows she owes you so much more than just Logan’s supplies.
[7:56 PM] You: Like I said, it's on the house. But just this time ☺️
It’s still too generous. But Leigh knows better than to argue further, concerned that insisting might hurt your feelings.
[7:56 PM] Leigh: Thank you. I won’t forget this.
[7:57 PM] You: 😊😊😊
Leigh sighs, remembering her promise that you could visit Logan anytime. She hopes you won’t take her up on that offer too soon, at least not until she has a chance to sort herself out.

Danny isn’t too bad once you get to know him. That's what Leigh learns after more than two months of dating him.
Initially, Leigh wasn't sure what to make of Danny. Their shared wit and sarcasm often put them at odds, like two alphas vying for the upper hand, each one not willing to back down, always aiming for the last word. Yet, in their calmer moments, when the competitive edge fades and they're just enjoying each other's company, Leigh finds something unexpectedly comforting about being with him. He has this confidence about himself that Matt never had, knowing exactly what he wants—and that's her. His straightforward approach makes everything about being with him feel predictable. And lately, she's starting to see predictability as a good thing, a sign of stability. This is a welcome change from the uncertainty that often left her anxious about the future. Plus, all these traits spill over into the bedroom, making the sex between them feel effortless and satisfying in a way she’s never experienced before.
Despite all this, there are days when Leigh finds herself merely tolerating Danny's affections. A part of her remains tightly locked, still bruised from losing Matt, and she's not sure if those doors should—or even can—open again. To compensate, she often says yes when she can, whenever her mood permits her to be giving and amenable.
And it is exactly why she says yes when Danny asks her to go to Palm Springs with him this weekend.
-
The getaway feels like an extended lazy morning where the concept of time blurs into insignificance. They drift from one hotel restaurant to another, luxuriating in the art of doing absolutely nothing. This routine isn't new to them; it’s the same one they slip into whether they’re at Danny’s apartment or Leigh’s place—only now, the scenery is different, and the sheets they tangle in are expensively soft, boasting a thread count far beyond anything either of them owns at home.
They're lounging by the pool, sipping Margaritas—Leigh with a book in hand and Danny absorbed in his phone—when your name comes up in conversation.
“So, how are things between you and Y/N?” Danny asks, not looking up from his phone.
Leigh stiffens slightly. She carefully moderates her tone, her face schooled into an expression of indifference as she marks her page and looks over at him. “What about me and Y/N?”
“I don't know... are you guys friends now?”
If Leigh weren’t so preoccupied with her own personal concerns about you, she might have recognized the underlying worry his question poses. What he's actually trying to figure out is whether you've come clean to Leigh about his role in Matt’s secret affair with you.
“Yeah, I guess we are,” she says. To say otherwise would be a lie, because you’ve been nothing but good to her. Danny seems satisfied with this answer, nodding before returning his attention to his phone.
“Why do you ask?”
“Just wondering,” he mumbles. He's back to mindless scrolling, but Leigh can sense the tension from two feet away.
“No, tell me,” Leigh insists, placing her book on the side table between them with a definitive thud. Danny mirrors her actions, setting his phone face down and turning to her with a seriousness that clashes with their otherwise relaxed afternoon.
“I just don't get why you'd be friends with Matt's mistress,” he blurts out suddenly.
Leigh is taken aback. They've never fully discussed what transpired between you and Matt, so she hadn't realized he was paying such close attention to her interactions with you. Believing that he wasn't privy to all the details, she quickly jumps to your defense.
“Y/N didn’t even know Matt was married to me,” she explains, trying to clarify the misunderstanding and protect your integrity.
“Yeah? And you just took her word for it?” Danny doesn’t bother to hide his skepticism, and it irks Leigh more than usual. She doesn't understand why every conversation with Danny has to turn into a challenge or an argument.
“There’s no evidence to suggest otherwise,” Leigh replies, her voice tightening as she struggles to keep her frustration in check. “I mean, I even went through your phone to see what Matt had been saying to you, and there was nothing there indicating that Y/N knew he was married.”
Danny feels a lump form in his throat. Fortunately for him, Matt hadn't mentioned anything in their texts about Danny being Nick either. He has been debating whether to disclose his role in everything to Leigh. But things between them have gotten serious, and Danny's not so sure he should come clean. Part of him wants to delay—perhaps until they are married with kids, when he's more certain that Leigh won't leave him over a past mistake.
“Look, I'm not saying don’t trust her, but... she used to be in love with Matt, right? You don't think there's a chance she resents you even a little?”
Leigh stops for a second, Danny's words prompting her to consider aspects she hadn't really thought about before. Wrapped up in her own insecurities, jealousy, and pain when she discovered the truth about you, she had never stopped to consider your perspective—how you might have felt learning that the man you had feelings for was married. Did you feel just as fooled and stung as she did? The thought bounces around her head for a moment. From what she can recall, nothing in your behavior has ever suggested that you're a bitter ex. But then, what if you're just exceptionally good at masking your feelings?
Do you really like her, or is it all an act—a scheme?
But then, she remembers the night you gave her Logan, how your smile was nothing but warm, your eyes bright with something that, looking back, Leigh realizes might have been admiration. Not even Danny looks at her like that, whose gaze is always bridling yearning and a desire to possess. Leigh shakes her head, almost laughing at the thought of Danny being right about you.
“Danny, honestly,” Leigh finally says, trying to put an end to the discussion, “if what you're saying is true, I can handle it myself.” It seems the quickest way to close this topic, knowing that debating it could easily consume their entire afternoon and completely derail the purpose of their vacation.
“But doesn't it hurt, having her around? Like a reminder that Matt went for someone else?” He's playing on a different fear now, not questioning your integrity, but poking at the scars Leigh's tried so hard to heal.
Leigh wants to admit the pain never went away. She’s merely learned to co-exist with it. It's like the weather for her: on some days, her mind is a landscape of clear skies, but when the storm hits, it's relentless. For now, she chooses to keep this pain private, unwilling to give anyone the leverage to use it against her or even attempt to fix her. It's her burden to bear, and hers alone.
“No,” Leigh answers, reaching for her book again. “I don’t see it that way anymore.”
Leigh ends her nearly year-long social media hiatus by posting a series of photos from her Palm Springs vacation with Danny. Sharing such personal moments publicly is uncharacteristic for her, especially given her minimal online presence over the past months. Maybe it felt like sending a message to everyone that she’s doing okay. That they can go back to seeing her as just Leigh again—a single, actively dating woman in her early thirties—not as the young widow she was in her late twenties.
Danny's friends are the first to swarm the comments. They tag Danny, peppering the feed with teasing remarks, their comments ranging from jokes about the desert heat to compliments on the couple's sun-drenched physique. It's all typical, light-hearted friend banter, until one comment sharply disrupts the mood:
“Yo, isn't that your brother's wife?”
Leigh deletes the comment within seconds of seeing it.
A few hours later, you ‘like’ her post. Leigh's eyes fix unblinkingly on the notification. She's been idly wondering if you'd seen the post, and now, you’ve confirmed it yourself. But what does that ‘like’ mean?
Is it a nod of approval, a silent indication that you're happy for her? Regardless of what it means, Leigh discovers she was sending another message—one that’s exclusively for you. It tells you that whether you're EspressoEyes, whether you harbor any feelings for her or not, it no longer matters.
She's with Danny now.
-
Returning from Palm Springs, Leigh feels different—like she’s turned a corner or something. She feels refreshed, and she wants to take on something, such as Drew’s grievances about her advice column. She picks one to start with, something about anniversary ideas, and she's got the perfect story for this.
It was one of those anniversaries with Matt, the kind that stands out from the rest of his surprises because it's so quintessentially him—albeit a little nerdy. He took her away from the city's glare to a secluded spot where the sky was a blanket of stars, untainted by artificial light. After laying out a rug for them to both settle on, he began the painstaking process of setting up a rather complex telescope. It took him nearly an hour, but the wait just made the moment even more special. With the telescope finally ready, Matt pulled out this old, crinkly constellation map and started hunting for one specific star. It was one of the last times Leigh remembered them being truly happy—deeply in love, free from the shadows of Matt’s depression, Leigh’s instinct to fix things, and the small lies that slowly eroded their relationship.
When he finally located it, he excitedly guided her to peer through the telescope. There it is—a tiny speck of light, but it's theirs. Matt turned to her with a bashful smile and revealed that he had 'bought' that star for her.
Leigh shares this story with her reader, emphasizing that it's about understanding what truly moves your partner. For her, it was that star—simple, unexpected, and insanely romantic. She tells her reader to find that one-of-a-kind thing, that personal touch that says “I love you” in a way that can only come from them. Just like Matt did with a star and a starry night.
It's only after she closes her laptop that Leigh realizes tears have been streaming down her face.
-
“We’ve got to stop meeting like this.”
It takes a moment to recognize who you've just bumped into. This encounter isn't as jarring as the last; it’s merely a brush of shoulders as you both maneuver to avoid incoming traffic. That ‘incoming traffic’ turns out to be none other than Leigh Shaw.
She's beaming up at you, and it looks genuine despite the sparse interactions since she last canceled on you. You’re still catching your breath, your heart racing from the speed of your run and something else entirely.
“At least I didn’t make you crash on the pavement this time. I'd say that’s significant progress,” you quip, drawing a soft laugh from Leigh. Last week, you made the firm decision to compartmentalize your feelings for Leigh, resolving to see her strictly as a friend. Yet, when faced with reality, such resolutions seem trivial, particularly when that reality includes Leigh smiling at you with her effortlessly charming grin—a smile that, despite your best efforts, still sends a familiar flutter through your stomach and makes your knees feel like they're made of something much less solid than bone.
“Speaking of progress, Logan’s due for his vaccines this week, right?” You remember the schedule clearly, not just because you’re good with dates, but because Logan has become somewhat of a shared responsibility between the two of you—or at least that’s how you still see it.
“Oh, right. I promise I'll swing by. No bailing this time,” she says, chuckling, but there’s a serious undertone that tells you she’s committed to making good on her word this time.
“You better not,” you tease, “Can’t have Logan missing his shots. He’s still very young, and it’s critical we build up his protection against—”
“I won’t, Doctor,” Leigh cuts in, giving you a playful salute that makes you blush. “So, where are you off to after this? I was actually about to grab some donuts for breakfast—”
Leigh pauses mid-sentence as a woman appears at your side. She’s stunning—slightly taller than Leigh, clad in a sports bra and tight yoga pants, with sneakers on her feet. An absolute goddess; even Leigh can’t resist a quick, appreciative glance.
“Who's this?” the woman asks with a British accent, adding the perfect touch to her 5-foot-7 frame.
“This is Leigh,” you introduce quickly, noting the surprise in Leigh's expression. “Leigh, this is Sara.”
“Lovely to meet you,” Sara says warmly, extending her hand. Leigh shakes it, though her movements are somewhat mechanical. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Oh?” Leigh’s smile is strained. “Nice to meet you, too.”
You quickly steer the topic back to Leigh's breakfast plan, asking where the donut place is. “It's just down that street,” Leigh points vaguely, but then stops short. Almost as an afterthought, she adds, “Actually, I just remembered I've got to pick up something from the laundromat.”
You frown, thrown by her sudden change of tune. “Are you sure? We could grab a bite after the run.”
“No, really, I should get going. Maybe next time!” Leigh replies hastily, already stepping back, her exit swift and decisive. As she hurries away, you're left there, watching her leave, trying to figure out what flipped her mood from happy to wanting to escape so quickly.
“Shall we?” Sara nudges you gently, already jogging in place.
You give Sara a nod, but as you start running, you can't help but sneak one last look back. Leigh is quick to put distance between herself and the park. With a sigh, you turn your full attention back to Sara, who’s already picking up the pace, chatting about a new trail she wants to try next weekend.
“Let's go,” you mutter, mostly to yourself, as you push your legs to match her pace.
Meanwhile, Leigh walks briskly to a different restaurant, forsaking her initial craving for donuts. She can’t quite explain why she fabricated an errand; all she knows is that she needed to get away from you and Sara. Earlier, she couldn't help but notice how close Sara was standing to you, assessing you with a look that seemed a bit too interested. Leigh keeps turning over Sara's words in her mind, puzzling over what she meant by saying she'd heard a lot about her from you.
Why were you talking about her with Sara? Who exactly is Sara to you? Just a friend, or something more?
And what Leigh finds even more perplexing is why she's so troubled by needing to know the answers.

— part one of the summer lovin’ series. —
[ i ain’t a kid no more / we’ll never be those kids again ]
logan didn’t know why he was so overwhelmed with anxiety, when he knocked on oscar’s door on that rainy thursday night.
this was his oscar, the oscar that had practically grown up with him. the one who knew how he liked his toast and that he was fond of a burger with all the extras. that he had a scar on his left ankle from when he was a kid and wrestled with his brother after watching too much wwe.
ever since he had signed to williams and oscar had been a mclaren driver, they had hardly talked in comparison to their pre-formula one days. when he had crashed out during a race, he half expected oscar to text him or come knocking on his hotel door.
he didn’t. logan pretended he wasn’t surprised.
fuck it. bite the bullet. he lifted his hand high and knocked on the door. three quick taps in succession.
“one moment!” oscar called from inside. logan would wait, even if that old lady from room 135 kept looking at him like he was an intruder. maybe he was. he hadn’t been in oscar’s room for a while.
oscar opened the door with messy hair and a shirt that had been clearly shoved on before he opened the door.
“logan? hi.” oscar swallowed. the awkwardness in the space between the two of them felt heavy. “you okay mate?”
“yeah! yeah.” logan fake laughed, rubbing his sweaty palms against his jeans. “just wanted to come see you.”
“i’m here.” oscar grinned, with no teeth, at his own joke. “wanna come in?”
“sure. kinda awkward talking in the hallway anyways. that old lady is about five minutes from calling the cops on me.”
“oh that’s just brenda.” oscar said after leaning out and getting a glance at the woman, who waved at him. he waved back. “she’s harmless.”
logan followed oscar into his room. it was bigger than his and he didn’t know if feeling jealous was appropriate. he had felt many emotions when it came to oscar; happy, sad, angry, and others. he didn’t want jealousy to join the list.
“sorry, my room is a mess. i wasn’t expecting company.” oscar laughed with no heart behind it as he sat down on his unmade bed. “take a seat logan, you’re giving me anxiety just standing around.”
logan immediately sits down on the desk chair.
“so, what are your plans for the summer?”
“mine?” oscar thinks to himself. “probably just to go see my family and my friends back home.”
“i was thinking maybe we could, i don’t know.” logan bites his lip anxiously. “do something together?”
“like what?” oscar is curious now, his eyes focused.
“maybe go on that european holiday we always talked about? we have the money now and no parents to tell us no like last time.” logan speaks in a rush. “but obviously if you say no, dude that’s totally fine.”
logan looks at oscar, who’s actually considering it? he thinks to himself for a moment before turning to logan.
“how many days?”
“as long as you’d like.”
“where would we go?”
“anywhere you’d want.”
“make a decision, logan. i’ll say yes or no.”
“we always wanted to go to greece? how about there? maybe for three weeks?”
“we should go for a month. we can travel.”
wait. so that means? oscar’s face is still impassive. he doesn’t say yes or no, but he is still considering it. that’s a positive.
“that’s fine. i’m flexible.”
“i’ll plan it.” oscar nods.
“so is that a yes?”
“obviously.” oscar finally smiles, open and dazzling. logan grins too, allowing himself to bask in the approval. he was almost 67% sure that oscar would say no. he’d already done the maths, but it wasn’t his strongest subject anyways.
“i’ll text you the details.” oscar nods and logan gets up, running a hand through his hair. giddy with happiness that he’ll finally win his best friend back. this’ll be the trip that heals them. that heals him.
-❀-
oscar gets stressed when he’s not in charge. everything has to go through him. the plans, the schedule and especially the driving. he’s never liked being in the passenger seat. his hands get fidgety and he doesn’t know how to calm them down.
he’s lucky that logan is all too happy to sit in it, his eyes focused on making the perfect road trip playlist. for some reason, they’d decided to drive from london all the way down to munich.
they’d already driven down from london and through the eurotunnel and took a break sightseeing in france - which oscar had already scheduled for. they ate their weight in croissants. they ate steak and frites. logan had bought them matching ‘i ♥︎ paris’ t-shirts and oscar rolled his eyes but packed it neatly in his suitcase anyways.
they hadn’t talked about anything other than surface level topics. logan talking about his favourite sports teams, them both discussing the grid and plans for the upcoming season and the usual small talk about their family’s wellbeings.
they didn’t talk about how they ignored each other unless a camera necessitated a conversation. they didn’t talk about logan’s bad season. they stayed up till stupid hours watching badly dubbed french movies and ordering takeout.
they drove to germany, dropped off their rental car and then got a plane from munich to athens. it wasn’t very long at all but logan still curled up against the window and tried to sleep. they were both connected to the spotify account on logan’s phone - logan using his headphones and oscar with his airpods. their road trip playlist still playing.
oscar didn’t know why he didn’t take them out, even when the playlist inevitably repeated itself.
-❀-
they’d been in athens all of two days when they met you. logan had gone an insanely bright red when he’d forgotten his sunscreen had ran out. oscar laughed at first but then ran to the nearest pharmacy to grab emergency sunscreen and aloe vera for the both of them.
after slathering themselves, they’d decided to seek refuge in a small ice cream store. despite the hot weather, the store was almost completely empty besides the two of them and you. you were fiddling with your phone in the corner as you attempted to hook it up to the speakers.
“fuck’s sake!” you shout quietly, frustratingly trying to make it work. “i can’t do this shift without any music. my thoughts’ll drive me insane.”
“um?” oscar breaks the awkward silence. you jump and turn around. the first thing that they both notice is that you’re pretty. really pretty. even in the unflattering oversized neon green work t-shirt.
“sorry! sorry! i apologise. i didn’t think anyone was in the shop. please forgive me.” you look flustered as you move to quickly wash your hands and dry them. “what would you both like today?”
to be honest, logan hadn’t been thinking about the ice cream. oscar didn’t need to think, he was going to get his usual order.
“can i get two scoops of mint chocolate chip?”
“oh that’s disgusting. i forgot that you eat that.” logan shakes his head in shock.
“it’s good. you’re just a hater.” oscar rolls his eyes. “stick to your boring vanilla.”
“it’s a classic!” logan turns to you and asks for two scoops of vanilla and one scoop of mango. you smile and begin to start their orders.
“you guys aren’t from around here, are you?” you ask.
“nah. the accents give it away?” logan laughs as he slings an arm around oscar’s shoulder. oscar rolls his eyes again but makes no move to push him away.
“yeah. a little bit.” you pinch your fingers together as you say it. “i’m not really from here either.”
“no?” oscar replies this time, curious.
“international student. this was one of the few places that’d hire me with my insane schedule. i’m lucky i have the next month off, thankfully.”
“aren’t you going back home?”
“i could if i wasn’t scheduled to work here practically every day for the next month.” you finish logan’s order and move on to oscar’s. you shrug. “and i need the money. the job could be worse really, i just wish the speaker fucking worked and the air conditioning. luckily i stand close to the ice cream.”
“what do you study?”
“archaeology.”
“best place for that is probably here.”
“yes. i don’t know why but ever since i was a little girl i knew i wanted to come to greece and study here. this is the less glamorous side of it but i’m here doing what i love.”
“that’s all that matters right?” logan chimes in. you nod as you scan their orders into your till.
“that’ll be €7.62.” you say. “cash or card?”
“cash.” oscar says as he pulls out his wallet. he’s infinitely glad he’d prepared and went to the cash exchange in london before he’d left. logan doesn’t even bother to offer, he picks up his ice cream and starts to eat it.
oscar hands you the cash as logan moves to a booth right by the open door to take advantage of the breeze. you count back the change and place it right in his hand. his heart doubles a beat as your hands touch for a moment but the moment is broken as your phone suddenly decides that now is the time to work.
the speakers start blaring natasha bedingfield’s ‘pocketful of sunshine’. you curse, close the till with your hip and turn to fiddle with the playlist.
oscar thinks he’s a little in love.
-❀-
logan knows that oscar likes you, which is a problem because he likes you too.
this road trip was supposed to be about finding themselves, not finding you. yet, when they find themselves back in your ice cream store the next few days, it’s no coincidence.
“you’re back again! the american and australian.” on day four, you’re not alone this time. you have a colleague, a girl who’s slightly older than you. she smirks at the two of them like she knows a secret they don’t know. “i’m not the only international one here!”
the speakers seem to work normally today, playing elton john as you hum along with it. your colleague decides that it’s time to take her lunch break, slipping off her apron and leaving the three of you to it.
“same thing as every day? or are we changing it up?”
“what do you recommend?” logan asks earnestly. he’s not losing oscar to you, maybe if he charms you enough, you’ll pick him. he doubts you will.
“everything is good here but if you really want my opinion? the chocolate fudge is a real crowd pleaser.”
“i’ll take two scoops of that and oscar’ll just have mint chocolate.” logan pulls out his wallet, opens it to find a mix of euros in there. he takes a moment to pick at the right change when you shake your head at him.
“no, it’s fine. it’s on the house today. i’m in a good mood.”
“why?”
“a lot of reasons. you know what? i forgot that i didn’t even introduce myself. i’m y/n.”
“we know.” oscar is amused.
“how? are you psychic? i used to know a psychic once and i also watched that’s so raven. great show.”
“your name badge.” logan nods at your shirt as he eats a spoonful of ice cream. you were right, it’s amazing. not too sickly but just the right amount of chocolate.
“oh.” you bite your lip in embarrassment as oscar takes his ice cream.
“i’m oscar and the american is logan.” logan smiles and waves his free hand at you. “is the shop always this empty?”
“no. it’s really busy after school and at peak times. you just always come quite early. lucky. it’s hell in here when it’s busy.” you seem relieved for the topic change. “you both here on holiday?”
“yeah. a break from our jobs.”
“lucky. my best friend is back home and i wish she was with me. she’s planning on coming up at some point thankfully. i hate being here without all my friends.”
“i can be your friend.” logan says. then he immediately regrets it. what if you think that he’s a weirdo? but when your face lights up, he realises that regret was a fleeting feeling.
“i’d love that. let me take your number. one of the guys from my class is hosting a beach party tonight if you both wanna come.”
logan looks at oscar who shrugs as if to say ‘i don’t mind if you don’t’. logan turns back to you, who is the middle of unlocking your phone and grins.
“we’ll be there.”
he types his number in your phone and sends a message to himself to save yours.
“i’ll text you the details.”
the speaker interrupts the moment that you have as it starts to malfunction. you curse again and throw your hands up in annoyance.
“stupid fucking speaker! so stupid!”
-❀-
Tumblr media
the party is already well underway, when oscar and logan arrive. logan didn’t bother with buttoning up his shirt. he wasn’t necessarily the most confident man in the world but he was comfortable with his nakedness in a way that oscar didn’t think he’d ever be. oscar was in a undershirt with a loose overshirt.
you finally make your way over to them, panting slightly. you’re wearing a plain white bikini with an open oversized orange and yellow patterned hawaiian shirt. your hair is free from the bun they’ve seen you in work with. you smile, easy and happy.
“my two favourite customers!” you sling an arm around the two of them, hugging them so close that they can smell your perfume. “come on, let me introduce you to the five other people i know.”
you lead them down to the bonfire, where three girls and two other guys are crowded around. they cheer when you arrive with the two of them.
“guys, this is oscar and logan.” they wave politely. “oscar and logan, this is anya, jerome, alex, sienna and jaya.”
the group all cheer and welcome the two guys. it’s clear that everyone is already buzzed. oscar has never really been a big drinker so he declines a beer when offered. logan shotguns it, the residue dripping down his face. you laugh and attempt to wipe it off his face. logan goes lax in your touch and oscar can’t watch anymore.
the speaker that someone played is playing shakira as the two of you giggle in your own little world. oscar turns to jerome? or was it alex? and starts a conversation. talking about some footy game that they were watching earlier. oscar is about as into football as the next guy, but he really needs to focus on something else besides the two of you.
oscar knew that logan had always harboured some sort of inferiority complex when it came to the two of them, but logan had something that oscar doesn’t think he’d ever have - being genuinely likeable.
oscar knew he’d have to win because no one would support him as a loser. logan is just likeable regardless of what position he’s in - an underdog if he loses and a force of nature when he wins.
likeable gets the girl.
-❀-
you decide to walk the two of them to the end of the beach. the night is inky black and the only light is the remnants of the bonfire you’d lit earlier. logan is buzzed, oscar is distant and you’re still vibrating from the fact that logan made the two of you run into the cold water with him in the middle of the night.
“tonight was fun! i’m glad you were both able to make it!” you lean in and hug them both goodbye. logan swears you’d lingered a little longer while hugging him. “i’ll see you both at jim’s ice cream?”
“what is that?” logan asks bluntly. oscar elbows him lightly, not hard enough to cause damage but just enough to wind him slightly.
“the ice cream parlour she works at dumbass.” he turns to you. “we’ll see you there”
“well, i do work there. so yeah.” you laugh. all twinkly and bright. then you’re waving and jogging back to your friends. oscar watches logan look at you and sighs.
“come on man, let’s get you back.”
-❀-
logan wakes up with a hangover the next morning. oscar is a good friend and runs to the continental free breakfast and sneaks him out some waffles, croissants and eggs. he walks to the pharmacy again, paying for some ibuprofen (at least he hopes that’s what it is) with his cash and runs to the corner store to grab some extra snacks.
logan’s eyes are wide with both joy and disbelief. joy that something is there for his splitting headache and disbelief that oscar would do that for him. oscar feels a little ball of guilt unravelling inside. how bad had he let their friendship become?
they spend the day inside for the most part. watching television together. then they go outside to the pool, logan immediately jumps in but oscar sits on the side. he pulls out his phone and scrolls through the texts that he’s been ignoring. the ones from some friends, his mum, and you?
it’s not a coincidence right? that you spent the whole evening with logan and text him the next day?
he holds the phone close to his chest. he doesn’t want logan seeing this. he doesn’t know why that is. he quickly texts you back. then logan shouts.
Tumblr media
“hey oscar! come in! the water is gorgeous.”
oscar grins and slips into the water, keeping his shirt on.
-❀-
the two of them end up at the steak restaurant together that night. they’re both dressed as nicely as possible. oscar in a nice sweater and logan in a dress shirt. the maître d’ smiled knowingly at the two of them and led them to their table.
“he thinks we’re together.” oscar whispers to logan.
“are we not?”
“we are in the literal sense. i meant in the romantic, relationship sort of sense.” logan laughs and bats his eyelashes all coy.
“oh no! oscar are you breaking up with me?”
“obviously. i’m leaving you for my secretary.” oscar’s deadpan voice just makes logan laugh harder.
“i knew it, that skank! i’ll get him fired.” oscar laughs too, breaking out into an easy smile that comes easily when logan’s around.
the sounds of the restaurant move around the two of them as they peruse the menu for a long time. it’s been a while with no conversation when oscar bites the bullet and brings it up.
“hey.” logan looks up. “i’m sorry.”
“for the secretary? don’t be. i’m running away with the pool boy.” oscar shakes his head, smiling.
“no.” oscar says. “for what happened. letting our friendship fall to the sidelines. i didn’t mean it but it didn’t excuse it. i really do like being your friend logan. i wouldn’t jeopardise that.”
logan is silent. oscar wonders if he’s crossed some unspoken line. he bites the inside of his cheek and looks at the wall of the restaurant’s decor. it’s all dark in here. would it kill them to buy some light bulbs? he understands its for ‘ambiance’ and that shit but he’s worried that he won’t be able to find his steak in the darkness.
“i was gonna say i was sorry. i thought it was my fault. that you didn’t want to be friends with,” he cuts himself off, laughing awkwardly. “a loser.”
“no. that wasn’t it. you’re not a loser, not to me.”
“i am. that’s a fact. it’s okay. you’re very nice for that but, it’s just not true.” logan swallows thickly. “now, should i get potatoes or fries as my sides?”
oscar doesn’t comment on logan’s facial expression, that he looks like he’s holding it together by a thread. he knew emotional vulnerability took a lot out of him but it was harder on the person who admitted failure.
“potatoes.” logan grins and nods before calling over the waiter.
-❀-
the next time you saw the two guys was two days after the bonfire party. they came in laughing at a joke that had happened way before they had even walked in. you find yourself standing up as soon as they enter.
“hi! y/n!” logan’s smile is always wide and happy to see you. oscar’s smile is muted but it’s still sweet. “what would you recommend for me? i liked the chocolate fudge.”
“hmm,” you think, running your hand along the counter. “we have a new flavour, chocolate covered raspberry? it’s quite popular. i think you’d like it.”
“i trust your judgement, ice cream girl.”
you crack a smile at the nickname, the smile so big that it momentarily hurts your face for a moment. you turn to oscar.
“and what about you?”
“same as usual, two scoops of vanilla.”
you nod, getting to work on the ice creams. you even offer to pay for them but they argue, threatening to shove it all in the tip jar anyway. oscar pays and when your back is turned, logan shoves twice the amount into the tip jar.
“wanna sit with us in the booth today y/n?” logan asks, taking a spoonful of his ice cream. “it’s not like anyones here.”
oscar looks up at you with his wide eyes, not really eating his ice cream. he just swirls it, until it turns into a sort of thick soup. you shrug and slide into the booth across from the two of them. you don’t have anything else to do and if a customer does decide to walk in? well, you’ll just slide back behind the counter.
“so, what’s your plan for the future?” logan grins. “and i know it’s the worst possible question to ask any young person but i’m curious. what’s the goal? is there one? it’s okay if there isn’t.”
“dream is to become an archeologist and backup plan? i don’t know. work in an office or something? maybe teaching. i haven’t thought that far ahead just yet.” you bite your lip and look out the window for a second. the day is hot, and you’re stuck inside. “what about you two? what do you do?”
“we uh, we drive.” logan looks at oscar.
“oh like uber? cool.”
“yeah, isn’t it?” oscar smiles at you.
“i still haven’t gotten my licence just yet. taxis aren’t too expensive and public transport is decent. also everywhere i need to be is pretty much walkable.” you smile at them. “have you visited all the touristy places yet?”
“not everywhere but we’re here for a while. we’re going to travel to santorini, mykonos and corfu. i’ve already planned them out.” oscar swallows his bite of ice cream. “scheduled to the exact moment we get there and get back.”
“an exotic european vacation.” you grin, waggling your eyebrows. logan laughs despite the joke not being very funny. “i’m jealous.”
“you could come with us.” oscar blurts out, his cheeks pinkening. “you’re probably busy though right? don’t worry about it. it’s weird.”
“no, no. it’s not. it’s very sweet and tempting.” you look outside the window again. “i’m not free for the whole time, but, definitely i could join you for a week? jim won’t care.”
“jim’s a real person?” logan asks, eyes wide. you laugh.
“yeah! he’s british actually. came over here when he retired and bought this place. he was one of the few people that’d hire me. my mum’s british.” you nod. “it’s a pretty decent job. if you ignore these hideous uniforms.”
you pull on the neon jim’s ice cream parlour shirt, face crumpling in disgust.
“you look good.” logan says, shyly, as he tongues the last of his ice cream. “this is good too. the ice cream. i knew i trusted you for a reason.”
-❀-
santorini is exactly like the instagram photos. well, despite being slightly too hot, a little less vibrant and he’s here with you and logan. logan has kept his shirt on this time, a loose linen blue one with a pair of shorts and flip flops. you’re dressed in a white skirt, a cropped tank top with a massive handbag.
oscar wants to do something crazy, like reach out and hold your hand or put his arm around your shoulders. he doesn’t because he’s not insane but he thinks about it for a solid moment. thinks about the way you’d curl into him or the way your shampoo would smell. he shakes his head.
“you don’t like it?” the two of you turn to look at him. fantastic. now he looks weird. his eyes widen.
“no, no! i love it. it’s lovely.” he reaches into his pocket, shaking hands grabbing his phone as he takes a picture. “i was thinking about the best angle to take this picture for my mum.”
“i’ll take a photo of you against the backdrop? maybe the both of you. your mum might like that. logan said you two were childhood best friends right?”
oscar nods. at least you bought his story. he stands against the barrier and smiles, awkwardly. he’s sure that all the other tourists are looking at him and thinking ‘what a weirdo, his crush on her is so obvious. she wants his best friend clearly, why even try?’
after a moment, logan stands next to him. logan dissipates the awkwardness with a wave of his hand and the two of them fall into an easy grin. when logan leans in and tells a joke, oscar finds himself laughing loudly with the click of your camera as background noise.
he sends it to his mother later on, when he’s in his hotel room with logan snoring in the room across from him. she texts him back quickly.
-❀-
— from mum.
well, it looks like you’re having fun honey!
— to mum.
yeah, i am.
-❀-
it doesn’t even feel like a lie when he messages her back in the cooling heat.
-❀-
it’s three days into the trip and two weeks into knowing the guys that you realise that you have a crush. it’s only a small inkling but you know it’s serious because no matter how much you try to dissuade it, it keeps popping up.
when you’re eating, when you’re brushing your teeth and even when you’re picking your outfit with him in mind. does he like blue? is he more of a yellow guy? or is it pink that’ll catch his eye?
the three of you head to a restaurant that night. it’s a seafood place, the three of you laughing and joking about something you’d seen earlier. they look good. smell good too. they even argue over who’s going to pay for the meal and look at you like you’ve got three heads when you offer to pay.
“it’s fine y/n, you’re a student.” oscar says, smiling as logan gives up. he pays quickly, all cash with no fuss. “we can get it.”
“ubering must make you a lot of money.”
“yeah. something like that.” he smiles again. this time with no teeth as he gets the receipt.
-❀-
logan goes to bed early that night, citing something about his family being desperate to check up on him. it leaves just the two of you outside in the corfu evening air.
“want to go for a walk?” you ask, looking at him earnestly.
“yeah. sure.” he’s trying not to be too eager. not to scare you off. the two of you start walking down the street.
“i always like to go for a slow walk after a big dinner. i feel like it probably helps with digestion.” you speak quietly, as if not to disturb the silence of the street. he likes your voice and is willing to listen at any volume you decide.
“i think it does. i try not to eat too much.” oscar responds, shoving a jittery hand in his pocket. “i can’t gain any weight for my job.”
“yeah, logan said. that’s weird. what kind of uber driver has a weight limit?” he shrugs and smiles. “do you miss australia?”
“sometimes. i’m used to travelling though. i’ve done it for so long.” he looks at you. “what about you? do you miss your home?”
“eh, i wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. i wanted to remake myself. i was gonna do it all y’know? a name change and everything.” you look up at the stars for a moment. “i didn’t go through with it. even if i changed my name, i’d still be y/n really. inside.”
“i get that. i think.” oscar looks at the gorgeous landscape in front of him. he ignores all the people milling around the two of you. to him it’s just you, him and the view. “so, y/n-“
your phone interrupts him. a loud, obnoxious ringing noise. you mouth an apology at him when you look at the caller id.
“sorry, it’s my best friend. she wouldn’t call me if it wasn’t important. she’s more of a texter anyways. do you mind?” you point at your phone. he shakes his head with a smile. you disappear to take your call and he finds a bench to sit on. he leans back, closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
what was he thinking? asking you out? thank god the world or fate or god or whoever is in charge, stopped him before he made the biggest mistake of his life. you liked logan and he didn’t blame you. he really, truly didn’t.
when you come back, you ask him what he was going to ask. he shrugs. it wasn’t important anyways, he says. he asks what happened with your friend and listens you chatter all the way back about your friend’s current work drama.
-❀-
the next morning, logan and you head down to breakfast together. it’s a continental breakfast that the hotel offer. it’s good, with a wide spread of toast, pancakes, omelettes, cereal, fruit and sausages. you load up your plate, happy to get food for free even though technically you paid for it.
logan’s plate is smaller. you think about what they said earlier about weight limits and feel a pang of sympathy. i mean, your job was not very well paid but at least it gave you freedom in your spare time to do and eat whatever you want.
“is oscar not coming?” you ask, forking a fluffy piece of omelette and hash browns in your mouth. it’s gorgeous and you’re hungry.
“nah. he’s not feeling too good. i’ll bring him some breakfast in a bit.” logan methodically goes through his breakfast. slow, small bites and chews it for as long as possible. “wanna go for a swim later? it’s hot as hell outside. i feel my skin melting off.”
“you are going a little red.” you tease. he smiles again, shyly. his face does go red when you lean forward and press your cold cup against his cheek. “a little better?”
“it’d be better if you’d go swimming with me.” he smiles.
“of course i will. can’t leave you by yourself. who knows what’ll happen.” he laughs this time. “now wanna try some of this omelette?”
he sits politely as you lean over and feed him a forkful of the spinach and cheese omelette. for a moment, the two of you look into each other's eyes as you feed him. he turns away as soon as it’s okay and chews the bite.
“good?”
“yeah. yeah. it’s good.” he smiles at you. “let me just get some more water for us, be back in a moment.”
“is it getting too hot for you?” you tease.
“a little.” he sheepishly grins again. “let me cool down.”
-❀-
it’s your last day with the two of the guys before they drop you back off at the bus stop to go back to athens. your heart is still pinching at the thought of leaving, but you decide your last day can’t be in vain. they’ll be going home soon so it’ll be the best time to admit what you already knew. what you had known for the whole time.
you’d been on the phone with your best friend who had helped you to write a pros and cons list.
— pros - you could be a girlfriend to a great guy. you would be happy. you would have a rich boyfriend (your bff added that). you could touch them in any way they’d let you. you could sleep together. you could also sleep together (bff again). you would have a great time. you would have fun. would it improve your life? potentially.
— cons - they could say no and you’d have to jump off a cliff. they could be dating each other and you’d be embarrassed that you didn’t figure it out. they could laugh at you. they could be disgusted. they could be nice about it and gently let you down. they’re not even from anywhere close to greece. it’d be a long distance relationship. could you even deal with that?
you shake your head and lift your hand up to his bedroom door. the wood is cold under your knuckles. the world still moves around you, tourists laughing in their rooms and people walking around. their voices murmuring.
as your hand hovered there, you thought for a moment. about how this could change everything. was it too soon? too risky? then you remembered, it’s now or never.
take the plunge and with that, you knock.

The sensitivity of Y/N’s body is so unbearable in her state of desire that even the softest glide of cooling air against her bare, plush thighs causes her to shiver from the sensation.
Y/N hesitates as she reaches for her phone, almost rethinking her decision for a moment before tapping on to the specific contact name of someone who has been lingering a little too long, too often on her mind, it was just recently that Y/N grew the courage to finally do this, “Hello? Katsuki?” Y/N’s voice is soothing yet alluring and seductive, something she unconsciously did and was oblivious to, although anyone that has held a conversation with her would be aware.
A familiar voice responds from the other end of the call, “What the hell do you want, extra?” he doesn’t sound quite pleased with being called at midnight, although he unexpectedly doesn’t sound as snappy as he usually does in general, there’s a hint of softness dulling the sharpness of his harsh tone when he talks to you alone.
“I apologise and don’t mean to intrude ‘tsuki.. Are you busy right now?” her thighs rub together, she’s getting desperate for friction and relief as her voice subtly wavers with need.
“You alright there? Speak up, L/N, this is getting frustrating.”
The hesitation returns to Y/N once more as she musters up the courage, “I was wondering if you could visit me at my dorm…”
Katsuki looks over at the softly lit numbers of the digital clock on his desk, 11:36PM.
“Sure. I’m heading over now.”
Beep.
It’s past lights out, so all the other university students in the dormitory building are knocked out cold.
Minutes tick by and there’s an expected faint knock at Y/N’s door.
Y/N pulls the door open, allowing Katsuki in as he swiftly rushes inside to avoid being caught out in the hallway. Once the door shuts with the click of a lock, he turns to Y/N, “What did you need me for?”
Shyly looking away to avoid Katsuki’s gaze, Y/N explains with a few words, “I wanted to talk to you in private, and I thought that maybe I’d just do it now…” she whispers these words, barely audible as if somehow, someone awake can hear,
“You’ve been on my mind.”
Her orbs meet his once more as she gazes up at him who looks back down at her with wide eyes, not anticipating a confession to take place this night.
“I'm losing my mind because
I hope that we can be more than just friends,”
That’s all Bakugo needs, the look on his face changes from one of shock to a straight face with a subtle smirk, in one swift motion, he uses one large fist to pin down her hands above her head, his knee slipping in between her thighs to prevent them from closing as he captures Y/N on top of her own bed, “Y/N,” he says.
“Katsuki..”
“I love you too, you damn extra.”
Tumblr media
Sultry moans and the sound of rough slapping skin bounce off the walls of Y/N’s room. The shine of moonlight peeks through the sheer curtains, emitting the only source of light. This was the moment they had both been covertly dreaming of.
“So fuckin’ pretty for me,” Katsuki quietly grunts, a low moan rumbling from his throat as he peppers kisses from Y/N’s jawline to the hills of her tits, “All perfect just f’me.. I love you s’ much,” The glint of passion and hunger in Katsuki’s ruby orbs are undeniably evident, his spikey yet soft, sandy blonde hair, all dishevelled as a result of thoroughly fucking the air out of the woman beneath him. Having been captured in a mating press with no option to run from the male’s passionate yet harsh thrusts that were heavenly pounding into her puffy, overstimulated cunt.
The pistoning of his hips become sloppy and eventually fall out of rhythm, a drop of sweat running down his temple to his chin. His gaze, dark and concentrated with determination to satisfy Y/N and get the both of them to reach their high.
“Shit,” he curses beneath his breath. “Don’t you dare fucking cum yet.” Soft, satisfied moans and mewls fall from Y/N’s lips, “Harder…” her words come out as a whine, and she doesn’t even know she says it due to her mind going blank with ecstasy. It’s almost as if her body knows what she wants, mindlessly slurring the yearning plea, “ ‘love you sooo much, Katsuki,”
“Fuck, say it again.” Bakugo grips Y/N’s hips a little tighter, as if he’s afraid she’ll suddenly slip from his embrace.
“Mmm, ‘love you s’ much ‘tsuki, ‘need you.” her words spur him on as he continues to hastily slam his thick, fat cock into her dripping pussy. The knot which has been building in the pit of Y/N’s stomach along with the butterflies snaps as her legs quiver, her toes curling as Katsuki swiftly pulls out. He hisses, his dick bouncing with each pump of cum he releases onto her lower abdomen.
The sound of slow, deep breaths fill the room, “I love everything ‘bout you, remember that, m’kay? I have for a long time” he hums into her hair, planting a kiss on her lips, “You did so good.”
There’s a smile on both their faces as they exchange words to express the love they have been suppressing for the past years of knowing each other.
“I’ll take you out on a date tomorrow after classes, how does that sound?” No bite, no offensive nicknames from Katsuki, he just wants to cherish this special moment that they’re having,
although there’s no doubt that he’ll return back to his salty self in the morning,
Y/N nods, “Sounds like a dream.”

Divine secret(s)! _ⵌ Katsuki was going to confess to Y/N after they graduate university, but she beat him to it
Tumblr media
Heyy! Please let me know if you believe that Katsuki is a bit ooc 😔 It would help a lot if you can point out suggestions so that I can write his personality even better in future works, thanks! Oh, and feel free to like, reblog, and voice your thoughts on my work (constructive criticism is the only type or criticism that is welcome)! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Make the night a little darker
Tumblr media
Genre: Smut, Romance
Pairing: Kim Hongjoong x Reader
Summary: Your boyfriend and you finally leave the work party. That doesn’t mean that you’ll stop partying.
This was a request btw I hope you like it @sadfragilegirl <3
The laughter inside was still very loud as you left the party. It was undeniable that parties like those pulled at your nerves - especially on your feet. Whoever was the culprit behind the invention of high heels would be doomed if they’d be at your mercy.
“Are you okay? You look a little tired.” you heard a soft voice, making you turn your head. It was Hongjoong. One of your colleagues, he worked in another department.
You two had met during another party - one with more music and less work being the cause of it.
It had been a one night stand - that turned into him serving you breakfast in bed and giving you a massage as you couldn’t walk anymore the day after.
Unfortunately you had forget to exchange phone numbers and you also were too shy to just go back to his apartment. Until you rushed into your new workplace, desperate to get the elevator as you already ran late. You couldn’t be late for your first day, could you? It had been quite a surprise when the person holding the door open for you was the same you had slept with a few nights ago.
From than on he had taken you on multiple dates and recently you two decided to make it official.
“I’m alright… I don’t like work parties much, that’s it.” You shrugged a little but he just fondly patted your head before he took his jacket off to put it on your shoulders.
Obviously Hongjoong had looked right through your facade, he knew it wasn’t only the party. And luckily, he knew exactly what could ease your pain a little.
“Come back to my place. We can walk there in ten minutes and than I’ll give you a little massage.” He offered.
His soft hand touched your cheek again and he made you look at him. You could only stare at him as he gave you his sweetest smile that was reserved for you only.
“Sounds like a plan.” You finally agreed.
A huge smile was on his face as he turned around, offering you a piggyback ride. You definitely wouldn’t pass on that and so you put your hands around his neck loosely. Hongjoong picked you up, his hours of training with his friend San finally paying off.
It did take him a little until he was home and you did have a bit of pity with him. But you knew if you walked any further your feet would kill you. Besides that he had offered to do that and if you had rejected him or tried to get off now he’d only start a fight claiming you basically called him weak by doing so.
Finally you arrived at his apartment. Your boyfriend placed a soft kiss on your forehead after he had put you down. Than he got on his knees, working to get your feet out of your shoes.
“God, I told you to wear the flatter shoes..” he complained, as if he had just hurt himself. “But you always know it better…”
You decided to leave this without a comment, just sighing as they finally came off.
After some more minutes you two were on his couch, enjoying the awesome view along with a glass of wine while his hands worked to give your calves and feet a quick massage.
It was easy to relax under his touch, especially when he worked your muscles so well. His newest purchase was playing softly in the background - a nice jazz album from an artist that was probably long gone by now. But it was exactly Hongjoongs style and you didn’t have any complaints.
“Are you already feeling a little better, my love?” Hongjoong asked softly, placing a kiss on your left knee.
A relieved sigh left your lips and that was enough answer for him. Although - it wouldn’t be Hongjoong if he was satisfied with just that. So instead he moved your body easily and now you rested against his chest. His hands began their work again and he began to massage your shoulders. Slowly you felt how all of the weight from the last few weeks melted away just from his touch.
“You should’ve become a masseur.”
A light chuckle left his lips and he leaned down to kiss your shoulder softly.
“I don’t think so. I wouldn’t have met you again otherwise.”
Your eyes stayed closed, but the smile on your lips was enough to satisfy him. Sometimes your reactions meant much more to him than your words and he had learned to read them just way too good.
It was a blessing and a curse.
“You’re a dork, really.” You finally answered, turning your head to look at him.
“Ah, how so?”
“You’re trying to charm me, you think I don’t notice that?”
Now he was the one who didn’t respond, only giving you a sly grin and grabbing your chin with his hand.
The intensity of his eyes was enough to make you waver a little, but it wasn’t like you really wanted to put up a fight in the first place.
You gulped and couldn’t help yourself much as your eyes flickered to his lips for a moment. They looked delicious. Rosy, shiny from the wine and so, so kissable. Quickly you looked back to his eyes but the sparkle in them already told you that he knew.
Hongjoong already knew that your wetness was pooling in your panties and that he had you. Just for you, he decided to play along. How couldn’t he? It was so much fun to let you pretend like you didn’t crave him just to make you crumble piece by piece.
“You’re a minx. I am spoiling you and you already think that I’m trying to seduce you… That’s taken as an offense.” He pouted, acting as if he was truly offended.
But you didn’t miss the way his left hand wandered to your hips, fondly squeezing it.
“Dork.” You giggled, leaning back and turning a little so you could press a kiss on the corner of his lips.
“Minx.” He whispered against your lips, his other hand land finding the back of your head so you couldn’t escape him.
Not like you wanted that.
Your lips found each other and it started very soft. Both of you knew it would end any but that.
Not like the both of you would mind tho.
For now you enjoyed the sweetness. It made you turn your body, so that you were now sitting on your knees. Your own hands found their way to his shoulders, your lips still on his.
Who needed to breath anyways when he was giving you the sweetest kisses there could be?
Soon his greedy hands began to wander down your body, squeezing and touching your hips before he reached for your butt. It was probably his favorite bodypart from you. He loved how soft it was and he always made sure to appreciate it throughly.
Hongjoong pulled you closer now, making you straddle his lap. Your dress was slowly rising up but you didn’t have an ounce of shame in front of Hongjoong. That pervert had kept more than one of your precious panties, you knew that even if he claimed he hadn’t seen them.
“Fuck… You’re so beautiful…” he praised you, eyes opening and lips parted as he still had to catch his breath after taking yours.
“Ah, really? I thought you didn’t think I was-“
Your boyfriend interrupted your yapping with a greedy kiss, obviously having enough of your sarcasm.
A whiny moan left your lips when he squeezed your ass at the same time. His hands pulled you against his growing boner, making you feel exactly how beautiful and sexy he thought you were.
Not like you even had time to doubt that at all. Not with the way he worshipped you like a goddess.
“Is this the only way you can shut me up?” You breathed out, lips red and swollen from the kiss.
Your endless teasing was slowly pulling on Hongjoongs patience. But that was exactly the point.
“Baby…” he growled “you’re doing this on purpose, hm? Acting like a little brat just to rile me up. Just asking for my dick would make it easier for you.”
“But not for you and that is a problem for me.”
This sentence was the one making him man’s handle you in your back, two of his finger finding their way to your lips, softly tapping in them.
You whined again but opened your mouth for him obediently, letting them slide into your mouth. Slowly he pushed them against your tongue, making you choke a little on them as he put them deeper down your throat. But he knew your limits, so it didn’t exactly worry you.
“Not much to say now, hmh, brat?” He chuckled, placing a kiss on your cheek. “Just behave for me and I won’t have to edge you all night, my love.”
He knew he had you when you began to suck on his finger, looking into his dark brown eyes. In this dim light they seemed even darker, especially with the heavy lust for you that was swimming in them.
“That’s it… that’s a good girl, right? You just need a little reminder sometimes.” Hongjoong cooed at you, making you bite his finger lightly.
With a sigh he pulled his finger out and shuffled down so he was right between your legs.
Your dress didn’t leave much to his imagination anymore and he groaned when he looked under your skirt.
“The red ones? You want to drive me crazy.” He growled, immediately grabbing your thighs and pulling you against his mouth.
Greedily he licked over your clothed cunt, making you shiver a little and whine out. Oh, it’d only be better if he would finally remove the panties. But if you said anything you knew he’d seriously get mad. That wasn’t the goal, you just wanted to rile him up a little, make him feral and wild.
You loved when he got like that.
It didn’t take long until your boyfriend got too impatient, pulling your panties down clumsily and pocketing them.
“Hey, I saw that! I knew you- f-uck! Rude!” You complained as he cut your rant short by stuffing you with two of his fingers and sucking at your clit.
A devilish smirk was on his face and you could only watch as he began to destroy you. His fingers were so nice, thicker than yours and even if not much, they were still a little longer.
Soft moans left your lips as he curled his fingers into your most sensitive spot, making your back arch. He loved how you moaned for him, whether it was his name or just nonsense - he loved both.
Especially when you weren’t too far away from your orgasm anymore. That was the best.
“Moan for me, baby. You know I love it.” Hongjoong growled against your lips, now working to replace the faded hickeys on your thighs with new ones.
He loved to do that. While he was mature enough to understand that hickeys in obvious places would embarrass you, his primal side still loves to see at least some part of you marked by him. It was such a natural instinct, he just couldn’t resist it.
And you wouldn’t complain. It felt amazing when his soft lips were sucking on your soft skin, occasionally he even bit down a little. The way he was tender and rough at the same time was just mind blowing.
Meanwhile his fingers still worked their way into you, and by now he had three fingers in you. Your hot cunt clenched around them as his thumb slid up to your clit. He rubbed right where he knew you liked it.
Your mouth was hanging open and you felt a bit of drool running down your cheek. But you couldn’t care less right now.
“Fucking hell, baby. You are dripping. Might need a new couch afterwards.” He joked, but it was very much true.
The sweet juice was running down your folds, and Hongjoong would hate for his couch to get stained. So he stopped marking you and began to lick it away. As always, he was greedy doing it. And the texture of his tongue felt even better now that you were stuffed with three of his fingers.
With how you clenched down on him and how you were letting your juices out for him, he knew it wouldn’t take long until you’d cum.
Just before your release he pulled away, his tongue darting out to kick some remains of you away from the corner of his mouth.
“N-no! No, Joongie! I just needed a little more!” You cried out, some tears in your eyes now.
Your boyfriend only tutted, grabbing your wrists and holding them up with one hand.
“Calm down. I’ll let you come, but only in my cock. Now spread your legs like the good girl you are and let me fill you up just how you like it.”
He didn’t need to say that twice. Your legs were spread and you pulled down your dress a bit so he could see your chest as well.
His right hand was lifted and he began to play with your tit, massaging it and pulling on the nipple a bit. Than he wiped your juices from his hand off on them and gently slapped your tit.
Finally he reached for his belt, opening it quickly before he opened his pants and pulled them down.
“That’s a good girl… fuck, yeah….” He mumbled, thick cock now out and obviously rock hard already. Lazily he pumped it a few times before he slowly tapped it against your entrance.
The action made you clench around nothing in anticipation. It was so mean to tease you like this - and he knew it.
“Hongjoong, fuck if you don’t-“
“If I don’t what?” He asked, raising an eyebrow and now rubbing his tip over your soaked folds. It felt so nice and hot and honestly, he could probably cum just like that if he didn’t hold back.
“We both know you can’t do shit, just take whatever I chose to give you.”
A soft whine left your lips when he finally pushed into you. It was only a bit at first, his teasing obviously not finished yet. Time seemed endless as he continued to push his tip in, just to pull out again.
At this point tears were gathering in your eyes. Deeply your boyfriend chuckled when he saw it. You were just way too cute for him. Always yapping so much but the moment his dick entered you it was always over.
And as you didn’t complain again and really took what he gave you, he decided to be lenient today. So he finally pushed into you all the way, stretching you out around him and making you choke out a moan.
Gently his hands rubbed your thighs, his eyes finding yours to get some reassurance that you were fine. After you gave him a soft nod he began to move his hips, gentle and slow at first. His tip nudged against the best spots inside of you and your eyes fell shut at the feeling.
This was really something you could get used to and the slight buzz from the alcohol just made it all feel much better.
As he realized that you were enjoying yourself very much, Hongjoong began to slam his hips harshly against yours. It wasn’t fast at all but every thrust made you sink deeper into the couch and soft whines filled the room along with the sound of skin slapping against skin.
Hongjoong was just equally in bliss, his eyes watching how your tits bounced and how your face contorted in pleasure. And the way your walls squeezed him so nicely, holding him in a warm embrace and slowly bringing him closer and closer to his edge.
“You’re so fucking pretty…” he whispered, leaning down to kiss your neck again, his hands moving from your thighs to your hips to hold you in place as he picked up the pace.
“And all mine… you’re just mine.”
Each kiss reminded you of just that and eagerly you nodded, whining for him as he placed a kiss on your neck again. Softly he began to suck on that spot before the softness began to fade and he harshly pulled at your skin, inevitably turning the spot into a mix of blue and purple.
“F-eels so good… Joongie…” you whined out, hands on his biceps and fingernails digging into his skin.
His pace was picking up more and more, and his groans and breaths gave away that he’d come soon.
He was very much aware of that and so one of his hands moved down, freshly manicured thumb finding your clit and with much expertise he rubbed it just the way you had showed him when you had first been intimate.
It was nice that he just followed the advice you had given him - after all most men never wanted to listen, claiming to know you better than yourself and than being petty about not being able to make you cum. With him it was different. He listened, he valued your pleasure just like he valued his own. If not even more.
“Joongie…” you whined, already feeling your peak.
“I know baby, I know… just let it go… you’re doing so fucking good for me, hmh? Such a good girl, just cum for me.” His slow kiss on your lips along with the steady pace of his hips and his thumb made you tumble over to edge with a moan into his mouth.
Patiently he fucked you through your orgasm, his motions not stopping until he didn’t feel your cunt pulsing around him anymore.
Only than did he take his thumb off of your clit and place his hands next to your head, beginning to move faster to reach his own high.
It made you whine and cry, but you didn’t complain, wanting him to feel good as well. And if you were honest, the overstimulation did also feel good
Your eyes opened and you watched him. His eyes were closed, eyebrows furrowed a little as he fucked harder into you.
“You feel so fucking good… a-h…” he groaned, pushing himself deep inside of you as he came, his hot cum pumping into you.
Another whine left your lips as you felt it, his hips not stopping as he fucked it deep into you.
“Love you…” you said softly, making his eyes open and his face light up a bit.
“I love you so much more…” he whispered against your lips, softly kissing you again.
- - -
The sun was already rising and Hongjoong was drinking the last remains of his wine while you rested on his chest. His empty hand gently ran through your hair and he smiled as you both watched the sunrise.
“I can’t stop the sun from rising now… but we can at least make the night a little darker.” He whispered into your ear.

Soft: Chapter two.
Tumblr media
CW: Mention of body image, reader feels inferior to her best friend. Slightly suggestive.
A/N: Thank you for all the love on part one, i’m so glad people like my writing. It’s heavily self indulgent so it makes me very happy to know it resonates with people other than me🥰
—>Part one
After a little encouragement from Johnny and the rest of my martini, I find myself stood in front of the group of men and Amelia as her and Johnny both introduce me to his friends. I got a wink and a “Nice to meet you, lovely” from Gaz, a firm handshake and a “Pleasure” from Simon…
“And this is Price, our Captain.”
The wide man smiles warmly and gives me a nod.
“Pleasure to meet you, dove.”
I give him a sweet smile and something between and a nod and an awkward bow/curtsy. Why the fuck am I curtsying? Jesus christ, I need another drink already. I feel my cheeks heating up with embarrassment but luckily, no one mentions it. They either didn’t notice or decide not to mention it. Either way, I don’t care.
Everyone begins to engage in small talk, leaving me stood there in the awkward predicament of being part of the group, but not being part of the conversation. I feel so ridiculous and out of place, like a child that’s stood with a group of adults, unable to join in on their conversation. I pretend like I don’t care and politely excuse myself and walk towards the exit.
I walk outside and sit down on the stone bench, my feet already aching because of my stupid heels, the cold night air nipping at my skin that simultaneously feels too hot because of the amount of alcohol i’ve consumed.
I rummage around in my handbag and pull out my half-empty packet of cigs that I save for when I drink. I always insist that i’m not a smoker, yet the minute I get a few drinks in my system, i’m puffing away like a chimney, making my breath stink. I light up and inhale it deep, feeling the all too familiar burn in my lungs. The smoke curls up into the night air as I exhale, leaving a ribbon of grey in front of me.
I think back to Amelia and how effortlessly pretty she looks, how she’s able to command everyone’s attention just by walking into a room. She doesn’t have to worry about what she looks like 24/7, she doesn’t have to worry about meeting someone in person for the first time after talking on a dating app and feeling terrified of being rejected and being labelled a ‘catfish’ because they didn’t know I was fat from my pictures. I know it’s not her fault, I know that. But deep down, there’s a bitterness, right in the pit of my stomach. She’s gorgeous, she doesn’t have to even try. The bitterness festers and claws at my insides on nights like this, where i’m left alone to entertain myself while she’s off with Johnny or her other friends. I sound like a child, i’m fully aware of that, but still, I feel it. Deep down in my stomach, a dull ache for more, a longing, a yearning to be that girl. Just as i’m stewing in my own grumpiness and general bitterness, I hear the rumble of a deep voice behind me.
“You alright, dove?”
Normally, i’d make an effort to impress a man like him. He’s handsome, too fucking handsome for his own good. Normally, i’d stub out my cigarette and sit up straight to hide the rolls of my stomach that protrude when I sit comfortably. But right now, I don’t care.
“Fine, thanks.”
Clipped, short, blunt. A subtle hint for him to leave me alone. He either ignores it or is too stupid to pick up on it, because he sits down beside me. Thighs spread, one hand on his thigh, the other wrapped around a cigar.
“Not a fan of parties like this, I take it?”
I scoff and flick some ash off the end of my cigarette before taking another deep puff, letting it fill my lungs, the stench of tobacco creating a cloud around me.
“You could say that.”
He laughs, his broad shoulders shaking up and down, the sound rumbly and deep, settling into my bones. He raises his cigar to his lips and takes a drag, the brown cylinder hissing and glowing red at the tip as he sucks. His voice is thick with smoke when he speaks.
“Mm, I get it. Not for everyone.”
I’ve either had too much to drink, am at the end of my tether, or just feel way too comfortable with this man, because what comes next is an outburst, an angry rant.
“I mean, is it for anyone other than rich arseholes or people who have been dragged into it by those rich arseholes? Groups of people pretending to be something they’re not, just to impress each other. I don’t get it. Fucking ridiculous if you ask me. I’d much rather be curled up on my couch with a shit bottle of wine and a takeaway than be here but I couldn’t say no to Amelia. Pain in the arse…”
I expected him to defend the party, or make some excuse that it’s a chance for like-minded people to ‘network’ or some ridiculous bullshit. But, to my surprise, he just laughs again. A warm, rumbling sound that makes me want to press my ear to his chest. I huff and cross my arms over my chest, glaring out into the night, the grassy courtyard scattered with multiple bush-sculptures, or whatever they’re called.
“Feel better, dove?”
I huff and laugh and hum in response. He gives me a tap on the thigh and stands up.
“I’ll be inside, if you decide to stay. I hope your night gets better, dove.”
I give him my best attempt at a warm smile and then he disappears inside again. I take a deep breath and try to shake off the festering bitterness and grumpiness. I should be inside, with my best friend. I stand up, feeling the ache of my heels and walk back inside to the ballroom, putting on a happy face. I spot Amelia, Johnny, Gaz and Simon at a table towards the front so I make my way over. Amelia gives me a concerned look, a silent ask of ‘You okay?’ and I just nod, dismissing it. I’m not getting into it, not here, not now.
A waiter appears and places a blueberry martini in front of me, without me even having to ask and i’ve never been so grateful. I take a large, burning swig and turn to the group with feigned confidence.
“So, what’d I miss?”
Johnny turns to me without taking his eyes off the stage, where a few people are setting up a microphone and some speakers.
“The birthday boy is about to make his big speech. Should be a good one, better than last year.”
The lads share a few knowing laughs, like they’re all giggling over an inside joke, and i’m about to ask what’s funny when a familiar, gravelly voice talks through the microphone and out of the speakers.
“If I could just have your attention for a minute or two-“
Fuck. Sake.
“Just want to say a quick thank you to all of you for coming to celebrate my birthday with me tonight. It’s lovely to see see you all. I hope you all enjoy your night and make complete use of the bar. Behave yourselves”
If there was ever a time I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole, it’d be now. I went on a big, angry rant to the poor man minutes previously, completely ignorant to the fact that the entire reason this party is taking place is because it’s his fucking birthday. I’ve never felt more like a dickhead in all my life, and i’m certain my face is bright red. Price raises a glass and speaks again.
“To us rich arseholes, at least pretend to be on your best behaviour, eh? Here’s to a good night.”
He ends the speech echoing my previous words with a wink in my direction and I’ve never been more embarrassed in my entire life. I must’ve sounded like some entitled, bitchy woman who thinks she’s above rich, fancy parties. I knew i’d never have a chance with a man like him anyway, but now any flicker of hope there was has been completely stubbed out by my own angry words, fuelled by alcohol and bitterness towards being the ‘single, fat friend’.
I down the rest of my martini in an attempt to hide my beetroot-red face and embarrassment, despite the fact that my head is already a little fuzzy and clouded by the way i’ve been chugging blueberry martinis like my life depends on it. Luckily, no one notices my embarrassment and Price goes off to mingle with other people rather than coming back to our table, so I don’t have to confront him. I make a silent ‘thank-you’ to whoever is up there in the sky, whether it be god or some other deity.
The next few hours go by without any more embarrassments, thank god. I do my best to engage in small talk with the lads while simultaneously avoiding Price. I should apologise, I know that, but I doubt he wants to see me. Or hear my whining voice ever again. Why didn’t he say anything? Why didn’t he cut me off and tell me it was his fucking birthday to save me the embarrassment of going off on some pathetic rant about ‘rich arseholes’? Why am I such a fucking idiot?
I excuse myself from the group and go back to the bar to order another drink. Except this time, I order a glass of water along with my martini. Arguably the only good decision i’ve made all night. No, the only good decision i’ve made in a long time. I plop myself down on the same tiny barstool as a few hours previous and take a few swigs of water to try and sober up a little and cool myself down. My hair has gone from being up in a bun and cute-messy, to being free and wild, cascading down my back. I don’t even remember undoing it, but i’m past the point of caring. My face is flushed, my eyes are glassy and my lipstick is faded and the tiniest bit smudged. A whole mess.
I force my thoughts away from considering the mess i’ve become over the course of the night and I look over to Amelia and the group of lads. Before I even have time to register that Price has joined the group, my stomach drops. He’s looking right at me with a fucking smirk on his face. If I wasn’t so embarrassed I’d probably think it was the sexiest thing i’ve ever seen. My face immediately blushes scarlet and I discard the glass of water for my martini. If i’m gonna get through this night with any semblance of dignity, I won’t be doing it sober. I debate getting up and sucking up my pride to apologise for being such a bitch. But then, what if he just laughs in my face and everyone else sees how much of a whiny child I was? Yeah, better not do that.
Amelia seems to notice him staring right at me because in a matter of seconds, she’s following his gaze and then walking over to me, that determined look on her face. She knows somethings going on, and she will demand to know.
“Okay, what the fuck. Did you and birthday boy get it on in the toilets or something without me knowing?”
I scoff and roll my eyes, not meeting her gaze and pouring some more blueberry flavoured courage down my throat.
“Obviously not, Amelia.”
She shakes her head and sits on the stool next to me, determined to get to the bottom of my awkward behaviour.
“Okay, listen. Me and you are gonna get out of here and go back to your apartment with a bottle of your favourite shit wine and we can talk all about it. I can tell you’re not enjoying yourself and I wanna know what’s going on. Gimme five minutes, i’ll be back and then we’re leaving.”
Before I can argue and tell her it’s okay, she’s going back to the group of lads and giving Johnny a kiss goodbye. It’s times like these where i’m reminded why she’s my best friend. She can read my feelings without me having to say a word, and she does truly care about me, even if my stupid little brain tries to convince me otherwise.
I leave the rest of my martini and make my way outside to have a cigarette while I wait for her. It’s well into the night now and considerably colder, and i’m mentally cursing myself for not wearing a jacket. I pull out another cigarette from my handbag and take a deep, long drag. The same burn, the same stench, the same short-lived relief. Just as i’m about to exhale-
“Leaving so soon, dove?”
For fuck sake. Why does this man have to show up at the worst times?
“Afraid so.. Past my bedtime.”
Again, the man laughs. Now, I know i’ve had too much to drink because I feel the warm, rumbly sound deep in my core, between my thighs. I don’t turn around to look at him, I can’t face him. I think i’ll die of embarrassment if I do.
I feel the warmth of something get draped around my shoulders, and the scent of spices and smoke mixed with expensive cologne. I’ve been nothing but a bitch to this man and here he is being chivalrous and giving me his jacket. I say nothing, but i’m grateful for the warmth.
“Hm. Shame. I quite enjoyed that little rant of yours.”
He’s doing in on purpose, i’m sure of it. He’s giving subtle digs to make me feel like even more of an idiot. It’s now when I spin on my heels to face him. I need to apologise. Now or never.
“Listen, about that.-“
“No need to apologise, dove. I liked the honesty. Not often I find a soft, beautiful thing like you with such fire in her.”
Just like that, i’m rendered speechless. I was expecting him to brush me off or belittle me or even scold me. But no. He’s giving me compliments like it’s the most normal thing in the world. I’m stuttering and fumbling over my words when Amelia walks about and grabs my hand, seemingly oblivious to the situation and pulling me into an uber. I get in, still speechless and head spinning. Is my head spinning because of the countless martinis I guzzled or because of him? I don’t know, and I can’t figure it out.
Amelia and I make it back to my apartment as we immediately kick off our shoes and crack open a bottle of shit wine and immediately I feel comfortable, i’m in my own space, drinking my favourite cheap wine with my best friend. Not surrounded by people I don’t know In some huge fucking mansion.
Amelia sits on the other end of the couch, legs intertwined with mine as she sips on the wine and gives me an expectant look, waiting for me to fill her in on tonight’s details.
“So… I went outside for a smoke and Captain Guy followed and sat down next to me. He asked if I was enjoying myself and I said no and went on a big rant, talking about how the only people that enjoy parties like that are rich arseholes and blah blah blah…”
I conveniently leave out the part at the end where he gave me his jacket and called me ‘soft and beautiful’. Which reminds me, I still have his jacket. I make a mental note to give it Johnny so he can give it back to him at some point.
Amelia’s eyes widen and she laughs.
“No way! Is that why he started talking about ‘rich arseholes’ in his speech?”
I nod, my face contorted into shame and embarrassment. Of course, Amelia thinks this is hilarious and nearly chokes on her wine.
“I felt like such a prat. It was the poor man’s birthday and here I am, basically calling him a rich arsehole…”
Amelia’s laughter dies down and she gives me a sympathetic look and a pat on the thigh.
“Girl, don’t even worry. He thought it was funny. Seemed interested in you. Even asked what your name was.”
My eyes instantly widen at the prospect of a man like Price being interested in a woman like me. I’m not exactly everyones cup of tea, i’m a big girl, rough around the edges, basically a hot mess on a good day.
“He what?!”
Amelia sports a shit-eating grin and nods, like she’s satisfied with herself.
“I swear. He came back inside and started asking about you.”
My face blushes like a fucking idiot and I have to bury my face in my hands. Since when did I become the type to get flustered and giddy over a man? Especially a man i’ve met once, and once only. But damn, what a man he is. That voice, broad shoulders, strong arms, thick thighs, strong hips…
The topic of conversation changes away from Price to Johnny and part of me feels grateful, though his words are still bouncing around my head like the DVD symbol on a TV.
“Not often I find a soft, beautiful thing like you with such fire in her.”
They bounce around in my head for the rest of the night, from when Amelia and I tuck into a greasy kebab, to when we settle into bed a good two hours later… The words are echoing around in my skull when my phone buzzes on my nightstand. I’m instantly ripped from my fantasies about the nice man with the wide shoulders when my brain reminds me the notification is probably from my shit-bag of an ex-boyfriend. I roll my eyes and breathe deeply before grabbing my phone, mentally preparing to read more false apologies when i’m completely stopped in my tracks.
Unknown: Nice seeing you tonight, dove. Think you still have my jacket. -JP
JP. The P is for Price, that much is obvious. But J? I begin to wonder about what his first name is… Jack? Jacob? James?
My thumbs hover over the keyboard as I rack my brain to come up with some sort of coherent response. I don’t even question how he got my number, i’m too busy focusing on the fact that he even texted me to begin with, and is calling me ‘Dove’. My stomach swirls. What do I say?
I put my phone down and decide i’ll reply in the morning when the alcohol is out of my system and i’ve had enough time to formulate a response that doesn’t make me sound like an absolute idiot. Until then, his words and text bounce against the corners of my skull, well into the hours of the morning.

misunderstandings ; remus lupin
Tumblr media
pairing: remus lupin x reader | 1k words plot: misunderstandings are best undone ontop of the astronomy tower at night with a cigarette in hand. authors note: i promised you this work last weekend but something came up and i couldn't post but here I am, hope you enjoy :)

Tumblr media
“How am I supposed to focus?” You whispered, mouth in a scowl. His hand was in yours, his eyes focused on the workbook in front of him. The sun lit the yard in warm light, you loved spring at Hogwarts. His thumb stroked your skin, his mouth in a small smile.
“Figure it out, love.” You couldn’t focus on the words in front of you, the letters swimming together in an effort to keep your cool. Your hand seemed to burn, was it desire? Desire for something you couldn’t have.
You knew that Remus wasn’t someone for relationships, he had told you himself.
He had made it awfully clear.
Though the common room was packed, loud music, alcohol in your system, you had heard his words loud and clear.
“I don’t do relationships, Y/N. I’m not the one for you.”
You couldn’t get over how breathtakingly beautiful he was. His hair was unstyled and seemed to stick out in different directions. The scars which decorated his face was faint, but prominent for you. You knew what he was, you had seen it.
In third year you had caught his friends and him sneaking out, demanding for them to take you with them.
Remus wasn’t fast enough to get away, almost ripped your throat out that night. It still weighed on him, everytime he looked at you.
This secret of his felt like a connection, a connection which wasn’t all that deep, you figured.
The fact that what he did to you, how kind and affectionate he was, was hard. It was hard to not see him in the way you saw him now, to not desire his love and care. It was unfair and frankly, cruel.
“I gotta go.” You managed, your things already packed and you face in a cold mask, desperate to conceal the pain.
“Oh, alright.” He spoke before he pushed his hand in his lap, face in a kind smile.
Tumblr media
The astronomy tower was quiet, pieceful. The moon was up, the air cold. The cigarette in your hand felt like it lifted some weight off your shoulders, like it brought you some piece of mind. A tear left your eyes, heart heavy.
You had avoided Remus and his friends for the rest of day, excusing yourself when you caught sight of his brown hair.
You wanted to get away, to not think about the gryffindor any longer, you wished for the man to leave you alone, to not hog your mind for every minute you were awake. You blew some smoke into the night sky as a voice spoke.
“Here you are, I looked everywhere for you.” His face was adorned with a smile as he walked up to you, his hands pushing a cigarette between his lips and lighting it. You brushed the tears away, your gaze anywhere but him.
“You missed some real fun in-Are you crying?” You shook your head, taking another drag from your cigarette.
“No, but you are.” He stated, walking in front of you. He bent down and put a finger under your chin, lifting your head.
“Who hurt you?” He asked, brows furrowed.
How dare he ask who had hurt you?
How dare he be up here when all you wanted to be away from him, to forget the pain he put you through. How dare he.
“Stop doing that.” You said, as you got up, swatting his hand away. He huffed a chuckle, pausing to take a drag.
“What do you mean? Worrying about you?” You turned around, throwing the done cigarette at his feet.
“Stop doing this.” You spoke louder.
He leant against the railing, eyebrows still furrowed. “I don’t know what you mean, love.” You had to laugh, rolling your eyes as you stared him down.
“Don’t call me love, don’t be kind to me, stop holding my hand all the time, stop giving me love eyes, stop being like this when we both know that it never will be more.”
He took another drag as he pushed himself off the railing, eyes focused on you.
“Who said that?” You stared at him, face angry.
“You! You did, third year.” He let his head fall back, heaving a sigh. “What?” You scowled at him.
“Third year, house party, does that ring a bell?”
“I was drunk.” You shook your head, arms crossed.
“You were sober enough.” He took a step towards you, cigarette long forgotten on the ground.
“So that’s why you gave me the cold shoulder all those years?” You didn’t answer as his hands found your elbows.
“Because I was thirteen, drunk and not in my right mind?” You shook your head as you looked at him.
“Your words were bright and clear.” His lips twisted into a small smile.
“I was drunk.” You huffed again, looking over his shoulder, to avoid his eyes. “As you said before.”
His hands found the side of your face, his lips still in this stupid beautiful smile.
“If I had known that what stood between us was a stupid drunk mistake I made when we were thirteen, I would’ve taken back every single word, love.” Your eyes found him, your lip caught between your lips.
“I’m sorry.” He said before his lips connected with yours. Your arms found his as he brushed your cheek.
“We should’ve spoken sooner.” You said, your hand still on his arm. He laughed as he caressed your arm.
“Not that you would’ve let me speak a word.”

Chapter 1: Cherry Contact
A/N: If this flops, I’m going to cry😢 In loving memory of @newsourceofnonsense, she's not dead; I just like the memory of her.
Contains: smut, oral, fingering , exhibitionism, plot
TW: tell me if you find any
Chris and Y/N are two walking commitment issues that enter into a mutually assured attachment.
Everyone thinks Y/N is a book hoarder, but she considers herself more of a book collector. She has over 700 books that take up damn near her whole apartment. The collection consists primarily of special and first-edition books. It’s probably worth around $50,000, but she doesn’t care because she plans on keeping them forever. To fund her obsession, she works as a waitress at a restaurant that just opened up called “The Copper Kitchen.” her best friend, Dorset, is a freckle-faced white girl with short brown hair, green eyes, and circle glasses. She also happens to be a bartender at “The Copper Kitchen.” Currently, Y/N is outside of her apartment waiting for Dorset so they can carpool to work. When Dorset pulls up in her shitty car, Y/N is ecstatic because she has big news to share.
“Dot, I’ve done it!” she says as she hops into the passenger seat.
“Wh- what have you done?” She’s very concerned that Y/N has done something crazy. It wouldn’t be the first time. The last time something like this happened, she told Dorset that she got her ex’s name tattooed on her left ass cheek.
“I’ve decided to have sex with men again!”
Dorset is relieved. “OMG! Yes! We can finally fight over men again!” They laugh as she merges back onto the road to begin the short trip to work.
“Yep, I’m meeting a guy at the restaurant after my shift,” Y/N says proudly. She's been off men since her break up three years ago, and this new guy is the first not to give her the ick within the first week of talking. She knows meeting up doesn’t automatically mean sex, but she hasn’t had dick in 3 years and feels that she owes it to herself to fuck this man. It’s not like she’s interested in anything else from him. Romance is strictly off the table for her. She prefers to stick to smutty romance books and shitty Tumblr fanfics of perfectly romanticized versions of men.
“Oh, I can’t wait to hear all about your little hookup.” They part as they head to their respective jobs at the restaurant—time to deal with shitty customers who tip like assholes.
Twenty minutes before the end of her shift, the most obnoxious kids walk in. They’re not actually kids; they're about 20, but Y/N considers anyone under 22 a kid, and these guys seem incredibly immature.
“Hey guys!” Says Nick, holding up the camera. “Welcome to today’s Friday vlog where we will be…”
Matt takes the camera, “trying the food at…”
Chris gets into the shot and yells, “The Copper Kitchen!”
Nick hits Chris in the head “Don’t yell in my fucking ear!”
“Don’t hit me, Dickface!” Chris hits him back while Matt holds the camera and laughs to the side.
The Y/N comes up and loudly asks, “Is this your whole party?” She gives them a disapproving look.
Matt is the first to speak, “Yes, ma’am, it’s just the three of us today.”
“Sorry, ma’am,” said Nick and Chris in unison. Chris is noticeably more embarrassed than Nick is. He’s absolutely mortified to be seen acting like a child in front of such a beautiful woman.
“Thank you. Let me show you to your table.” She picks up three menus before walking them to their seats. Only when they’re all sitting and looking up at her does she realize that the three boys are triplets. “Can I start you off with something to drink?”
She points to Matt. “Root beer, thanks.”
She points to Nick. “Water, if you don’t mind.”
She points to Chris. “What’s the best virgin mixed drink you guys have?”
“I’m not sure, but you can never go wrong with a Shirley Temple. Do you want me to go ask the bartender?” She would love to tell Dorset about the sexy triplets that just stumbled in.
“Nope, we’re all good. I’ll take a Shirley Temple and a Pepsi.”
“Great. I’ll be back in a few with your drinks.”
Y/N practically runs to Dorset. Chris can’t help but watch her ass as she walks to the bar to order his drink. When she returns a few minutes later, she hands Chris his drinks last.
“Thank you for the Pepsi, but this…” he lifts the mixed drink and hands it to her. “is for you, miss…” he pauses to look at her name tag. “Y/N. It’s an apology for making a scene in your restaurant.”  Nick and Matt are in shock over how forward he’s being. Chris has never really flirted in front of them before. It’s kind of weird, but they can see why he has so many girls in and out of his room.
“Well, thank you…”
“Chris.” he interrupts. “Please, call me Chris.” he gives Y/N a charming smile.
“Thank you very much, Chris. However, my shift is over, and Michelle will serve you for the rest of the night.”
“I’m sorry to see you go, miss Y/N, but I hope you have a good day.”
“Will do, Chris,” says Y/N before she walks away to sit across the room at the bar. She talks to Dorset about her date tonight while she waits for him. His name is Theo. He’s blonde with deep brown eyes, and from what Y/N can tell from sexting, he’s so fucking good at dirty talk. Unfortunately, he is 30 minutes late to meet her.
Chris has been relatively quiet for today’s video. He’s been distracted watching Y/N enjoy his drink and seeing her smile and laugh with her friend. She looks somewhat distressed now, and Chris can't help but think he’s found his opening. He makes the boys wrap up the video and leaves to get Y/N’s number.
He turns on his charm and sits on the stool next to her. “What’s got you so worried, miss Y/N.”
“Pretty sure I’m being stood up. I’m also pretty sure people under 21 can’t sit at the bar.”
“Who says I’m not 21? Maybe I’m here to buy you another drink.”
Y/N cocks her eyebrow as she calls her friend over. “Order me something then.”
Chris tries to think his way out of this. “Listen, you guys are friends, right? She’s just been stood up, and a handsome young man would like to buy your friend a drink. I’m sure if you just forget to card me this one time and let me buy her a Shirley Temple with vodka and extra cherries, it would make her night ten times better.”
“My hands are tied, Y/N. You’re my weakness.” she looks to Chris. “Dirty Shirley coming right up.”
“You’re fuckin’ smooth, aren’t you?” asks Y/N.
Much more confident than he was moments before Chris responds, “Yes, ma’am, I am. Now tell me all about the bad man who hurt you.”
“I’m not really hurt,” she replies, but Chris can tell she’s hiding something.
“No?” he questions.
Dorset comes with her drink, and Y/N takes a nervous sip. “Can I be honest with you?”
“Of course you can, Miss Y/N.”
“I’m not hurt. I was just really horny, and I got my nails done for this date, and not I can’t even touch myself at home because my nails are so sharp,” she says, completely embarrassed. She doesn’t make eye contact with him and focuses intensely on eating her maraschino cherries.
“I don’t mean to be too forward, but…” he leans in, whispering in Y/N’s ear, “ I think I can help you with that.” She doesn’t miss a beat. She takes his hand and drags him to the large family bathroom. Dorset claps and cheers them on openly as they make their way. Y/N makes a mental note to get her back somehow later.
She palms him through his pants, and Chris grabs her face, pulling her into a rough, hurried kiss. “Oh, fuck. You taste like cherries.” he hikes up her uniform skirt and rubs her over her panties.
“You have yourself to thank for that.”
He spins her around so he can watch her face in the mirror as he touches her. “You’re also soaked. Do I have myself to thank for that, too?” before she can say anything, Chris’s finger is spreading her lips apart and playing at her entrance.
She closes her legs in response. “Nope, not so fast. You gotta eat it first.”
Chris sinks to his knees. “Yes, ma’am.” he wastes no time. He spreads her thighs apart, slides her panties to her knees, and starts lapping at her clit from behind. He’s got to be quick because his brothers are waiting for him.
She bends over the sink, propping herself up on her forearms. “Oh, fuck!” she groans.
“Hush, Cherry. Don’t want to get fired for fucking on the job, do we?.” The vibrations from his laugh makes Y/N’s pussy shiver causing her to wiggle a little. Chris loves watching her ass jiggle. “Has anyone ever eaten your ass?” he parts her cheeks and gives her a playful spank. “You have such a cute little asshole. Do you mind if I try?”
“Yeah, you can try,” she says sheepishly, hiding her face from the mirror.
“Don’t worry, I won’t forget to give your clit some attention.”
“Oh, yes! Just like that!” Y/N cries out louder than she means to as his tongue explores her ass. He rubs her clit with the pad of his finger, and she lets out a breathy moan. Chris is hard as a fucking rock, and she’s making such pretty sounds. It’s torture not to touch himself, but he came here to help her out and needs to focus on making her cum.
“Yeah. Tell me how you like it.”
“Fingers, please,” she begs.
“Tell me how many you need, Cherry?”
“Two. Just two, please.” Y/N takes his fingers inside of her with ease. He searches for a moment to find that special spot of hers. “Right there!”
Chris is so happy with how open she’s been to him. The girls he’s been with recently have been so meek. She’s such a good girl telling him just where she needs him. He works his fingers into her faster, making sure to hit her G spot every time. Y/N starts pushing herself back on his fingers. Chris feels her pussy begin to tighten like a vice around him. “You’re such a good fucking girl. Cum for me, Cherry. Cum on my fingers.” her legs giveaway as her climax burns through her, and Chris has to hold her up as he tries to work her through it.
When her orgasm subsides and her vision comes back, Chris is on the floor holding her. She rests her head on his chest and says, “Thank you. That was fucking amazing.”
“Anytime, Cherry. I don’t expect any reciprocation today, but I feel I am owed your phone number.” He hands her his phone, and the new contact is already open.
“Of course, here’s my number, Chris.” she hands the phone back to him, gets back onto her feet, and pulls her panties up. She leaves without saying goodbye. Chris looks down at his phone and smiles at her contact name. “Y/N🍒 (Sexy Waitress)”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE YOUR AU!!!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!! op, your ideas are fantastic, you're really creative and an awesome writer!! 💫🌟
The monkiefam dynamic is so fun to read about — and pretty sad in MK's case, the poor guy.
Hopefully it's not too dark of a question, but how brutal does MK get during the primal moon? If he gets too violent with reader, does Wukong or Mac try stopping him or would they just let the natural pecking order happen?
I feel so bad for him, he's is gonna have a hell of a time acknowleding all the stuff he did during the primal moon week :/
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! I’m glad people like my silly little things! (UPDATED to add a few extra characters!)
Thankfully for Y/N, MK isn’t too brutal- I don’t think they’ll come out with anything worse than a sprained wrist or ankle. The trauma will persist far beyond their injuries, however. When the last green moon of the week fades, he’s positively distraught.
Lining his hand curiously up to a slap mark on Y/N’s cheek to check it, tears brimming in his eyes when it lines up too perfectly to be a coincidence.
I don’t know whether he heartbrokenly distances himself or tries to make up for it with extreme smothering. The poor kid just wanted to spend what was supposed to “just another green moon” with one of his best friends.
And as for Macaque, though he’d really like to help Y/N… he just doesn’t have the ranking. MK is above him in the hierarchy, so he genuinely can’t do anything to upset or piss him off. This only that accomplishes is him getting smacked around right beside Y/N. All he can really do for them is apply herbal balm and bandages after the fact. If he hasn’t had a deal applied to his powers yet, Macaque might think about trying his shadow portals, but… it’s probably better not to risk having two angry monkeys on his tail, demanding to know where he’s hidden their beloved cub/rookie.
Sun Wukong is crazy delusional under the moon’s influence- to him, Y/N getting thrown and tosses all around is just “playfighting”, so he won’t interfere until after things get genuinely harmful. The moment he hears his little “cub” scream and start to cry, Old Sun is there in a second, bringing them into his arms and cooing softly. If they come to him begging for protection and use a “Bàba” to sweeten the deal, they’ll have his shelter for a number of hours, so it’s not impossible to get away from MK… just very hard.
And even after learning that something as severe as a broken wrist has occurred, Wukong coddles MK and forgives him on your behalf, writing the whole thing off as an accident. Not that you get any less smothering then him- you’re now stuck in bed with stuff bandages and surrounded by young mountain monkeys and sweet fruit. In a way, it saves you from any further rough play.
All three of them are dangerous in their own ways, of course. None are outright above “disciplining” you, with slaps or bites or shoves. There’s no bone-shattering or flesh-tearing, but they make you afraid that there will be.
———————————————————————
After the Primal Moon ends, there’s a lot of patching-up to do afterwards. For example…
Pigsy has to come down from the constant self-drugging, taking more than a few hours to compose himself and make the rounds with his friends, calling them all up in short order. Once he’s gotten through everyone- Tang, Sandy, Mei, even her parents… then he spends a few minutes making sure he hasn’t gored any holes into his restaurant. Unlocks the windows and doors, but doesn’t flip the open sign.
He’s not up to deal with customers right now. All he wants is to check on his kids.
He’ll take MK and you out to eat today, he thinks. You’ve both earned it, after a week of isolation up in your shared room, under strict instructions to stay inside and come down for no one and nothing.
Red Son is always horribly humiliated when everything is said and done, a groaning and red-faced mess of shame. Another week of essentially devolving into a child, desperate for love and attention. Another, slow, grudging week of constant begging for skinship and words of praise. Needless to say, he’s pissed off and looking for an outlet, and beating on the numerous Bull Clones just doesn’t seem all too enticing… when he’s got a much squishier target who’ll actually squirm and yelp?
Sure, he’s not going to outright mangle you. No permanent burns. No shattered spine. And he’ll take pity on you eventually and stop with the torment. After a few months, he might even start to like you.
Let’s hope you get there mostly unscathed.

Worth The Wait: Part Two
Pairing: Jensen Ackles x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~900
Warnings: fluff
Request by anon: Hey can i request a J2 x reader imagine where the reader is actress and singer that was nominated for a Oscar or something like that and became one of the few people that have a EGOT (the achievement of having won all four of the major American entertainment awards (i.e. an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony) and obviously everyone is so happy for her, spn fans, her fans, her friends, famous people, her family, spn cast and especially her boyfriends that they weren’t with her for some reason?
Summary: You've been working endlessly to put your own album out, and now you've been nominated for a Grammy... the only award that keeps you from being an EGOT winner. Will you win tonight? Will you finally be out on that prestigious award list that only nineteen people have ever been on?
Square Filled: pie (2022) for @spndeanbingo
Author’s Note: the asks says jensen and jared to be the love interest for the reader, but i only made it for jensen
Tumblr media
x
This is it. This is the moment I’ve been working my ass off for. I can do this. Even if I don’t win, it’s an honor to be nominated.
After working on Batman vs. Superman, you worked tirelessly on putting out your own album, your very first. Your fans have been asking for one since they’ve heard you sing in movies and on Broadway. You’re just giving the people what they want. Well, they loved it so much that you’re nominated for some of the categories for the Grammys.
If you win just one category, you’ll be an EGOT winner. Only nineteen people have earned that prestigious award in history, and you can be one of them if all goes well tonight.
“I know you’re nervous but you’re going to do great. I’m going to be right here next to you. Even if you don’t win tonight, you’re still a winner in my eyes,” Jensen smiles.
“Thank you,” you smile and kiss him just as the limo arrives at the Grammys.
The cameras are on you the second you get out of the limo. There is a staging area before the area where the pictures are taken, so you and Jensen take the chance to touch up your makeup and both your outfits.
There are millions of people watching on their TVs at home so you make sure to put your best smile on when you go out there. As soon as the press sees you, they call your name in hopes you pose for their cameras. Jensen makes sure you get some good solo ones before joining your side.
You pull Jensen close and kiss him quickly which will make for a good photo. You spend ten minutes smiling at a bunch of different cameras before moving past them to the section where celebrities like to hang out before being seated inside.
Two reporters are off to the side interviewing anyone who wants to talk to them, and they spot you and Jensen easily.
“Mr. and Mrs. Ackles. Wow, you two look stunning,” one of them says.
“Thank you.”
“Do you have a bit of time for us?”
“Actually, we do,” you smile and step forward.
There is a camera pointed at the mini stage you’re on so that viewers at home can watch this.
“We are here with the lovely Jensen and Y/N Ackles. I have to say, you two look amazing.”
“Thank you. I love both your dresses as well,” you smile.
You four talk about being nominated, who you’re wearing, what it means to be here, and anything else they want to know.
“I’m just excited for tonight. It doesn't matter if I leave with an award or not. Everyone here is a winner in my eyes.”
“Thank you for coming out. That was, again, Y/N and Jensen Ackles.”
You and your husband leave them to go find your seats inside. You’re pretty nervous so you’re glad that Jensen is here with you. That, and alcohol usually clams your nerves. A few of the people who are nominated are performing but you’re not one of them. You’d love to be performing one of your songs from your new album but they didn’t ask you to do it.
Nonetheless, you enjoy the performances that everyone else puts on.
Mariah Carey walks on stage to give out the award for Best Pop Vocal Album and you start to bounce your leg. This is the first category that you’re nominated for so you’re extremely nervous.
“You’re going to do great,” Jensen says against your hair as he kisses your head.
“Thanks,” you whisper back.
“I am so honored to present this award for Best Pop Vocal Album. The nominees are Chemistry by Kelly Clarkson.” They play a snippet of one of her songs before moving on to the next nominee. “Endless Summer Vacation by Miley Cyrus.” You love Flowers. She did such a good job on the song. “GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo.” You’re not a fan of hers but you can see how she’s successful. “Midnights by Taylor Swift.” Now there’s an album you can get behind. You love her so much and hope you can collaborate with her one day. “Finally Free by Y/N.” Jensen grabs your hand when she mentions your name. “And the Grammy goes to…” She takes her time opening the letter and smiles when she reads the name on it. “Finally Free by Y/N!”
Tears immediately come to your eyes when your hit single starts playing over the loudspeakers. The cameras are on you to gauge your reaction but you don’t pay them any attention. Jensen kisses you and encourages you to go up there on your own.
You leave him at the table and join Mariah Carey on stage who hands you the award with pride.
“Thank you so much,” you try not to cry. “I can’t believe this is happening. Words cannot express how grateful I am not only to my fans but to my husband who has stood by my side through thick and thin. He is my rock and my biggest supporter. I also thank my team for putting this amazing album together so effortlessly.
“I have been striving for this award since I won my second Emmy. By winning this award, I have managed to make it onto the EGOT list which is the biggest achievement I could have ever gotten. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
Tears fall freely but you’re grateful for winning this award. Everyone cheers for your win even as you’re walking off stage. Jensen meets you backstage and pulls you into his arms.
“God, I am so proud of you!” he smiles happily. “You did it!”
“I can’t believe this is happening right now.”
“As soon as this is over, why don’t we get celebratory pie?”
“Yeah, I’d like that,” you grin and kiss him.

A TWIST OF FATE (R.R one shot)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Joe Anoa’i x Reader
Warning: Angst, Language, bad English
Word Count: 1.6k
Content: Joe is in love with his best friend and he finally confesses his feelings to her.
Tumblr media
My phone starts ringing loudly, startling me from the deep state of sleep i was in. With my eyes half open i reach for it and answer with a sleepy “hello” not even bothering to look at the caller id. “Don’t tell me you fell asleep again” i hear his deep voice groan on the other end of the line. My eyes widen when I realize who the voice belonged to, my best friend Joe. And i was supposed to be on my way to his house for lunch. “No, no i’m on my way there.” i lie obviously as i get out of bed and go through my wardrobe to pick an outfit. “Bullshit, i can hear you shuffling through your clothes. What the hell were you doing all night that got you this tired?” he asks with a teasing voice. I roll my eyes, too drowsy to give him a sarcastic answer. “I will be there in 5 minutes.” i say as i hang up, lying again since our houses have a 15 minutes distance. I decided to wear some sweatpants with a white t shirt and i put on a bit of make up to at least look presentable enough. I get my handbag and rush out of the house towards my car. Joe and I have been friends since high school and we have managed to make our friendship last for almost 20 years. But in the last few years we haven’t been able to meet up as often as we used to for our schedules never align. Both our jobs involve lots of traveling so whenever i would be in town he would be in another city and vice versa.
I knock on his front door, excited to finally see him after nearly 8 months. Joe opens the door with a big smile plastered on his face, his pearly white teeth on display. He pulls me in for a bear hug, his perfume instantly giving me a sense of familiarity. “God i’ve missed you so much” he whispers in my ear still not letting go of me, if anything he tightens the grip on my waist. “I’ve missed you too big guy but let me go now before i pass out.” i joke and he lets go with a small laugh. We make our way inside his house and head to the living room, taking a seat in the comfortable couch. I take in his appearance, he has more grey hairs now than the last time i saw him but it definitely suits him, they actually make him look sexier if that is possible. His physique was not as bulky as i remember, he is much leaner now. I can see his abs and muscles under his white tank top, looking as prominent as ever. “Look at you, you’re gettin old man” i tell him with a sly smile. Joe chuckles lightly “you know how things have been, stress has taken its toll on me.” I nod at his words in understatement. The divorce from his ex wife has been anything but easy, the process lasting for almost a year and a half. “But look at YOU tho, you look even more gorgeous than the last time i saw you.” he compliments with a slight smirk on his face. I can’t help but blush a little, he always has a way with words. But i know i look good tho, i have added some caramel highlights to my dark hair and i’ve been working out regularly for almost 5 months now. “Thank you! I’ve been trying to prioritize myself lately. Now tell me how’s life been treating you as a single man?” He sighs, clearly not over the whole ordeal “it took me a while to get used to it you know. But i’m good now, still not ready to date yet tho. And what about you? You still with that jerk?” I can’t help but laugh at his remark about my now ex boyfriend. “We aren’t together anymore. It turns out you were right all along, he was a cheating asshole so i called things off a while ago.” It was unavoidable for Joe to not feel happiness about the news. He wasn’t happy about the fact that he had cheated on her, no, that motherfucker better pray to not cross paths with him but he’s pleased she’s not wasting any more of her time with him. “Do you want me to track him down and beat his ass?” he asks her, seemingly joking but his words held some truth to them. “There’s no need to, i already did.” i say chuckling at his wide-eyed expression. “Hold on, you for real? You beat that fucker?” Joe asks, his voice filled with amusement. She was never the one who would choose violence in any type of situation, her strongest quality being communication which might be one of the reasons why their friendship lasted this long. I nod while laughing uncontrollably “i did. And I wasn’t even that mad when he told me he had been cheating on me, i already knew that from one of my friends. I just saw the opportunity and I took it.” Joe shakes his head while chuckling, she never fails to leave him in awe every damn time she opens her mouth.
As she complains about one of her colleagues at work while eating the sushi he ordered, Joe can’t help but stare at her beautiful facial features, her plump lips that slightly pout when she’s eating and her big round eyes that aren’t afraid to hold eye contact with his. But her full lips might be his favorite and all he can think about is how they would feel on his own lips, all over his body or wrapped around his co- he shakes his head trying to get the sinful impulses out of his head. But now the thoughts appear to be much more inevitable and Joe can feel himself getting aroused. If he hadn’t had these thoughts before he would have blamed them on the wine they were drinking.
“Joe?” I call his name trying to get his attention but his mind seems to wander somewhere else. “Joe?” i call him a bit louder this time and it does the trick as he finally snaps out of it “damn am i that boring? Where’s your mind at?” He contemplates what to say, should he tell her the truth: that he never saw her only as a friend, that every time he sees her his heart skips a beat, that he’s been looking for her in every woman he’s dated even in his ex wife. Joe wanted to curse her out for setting his standards so high that he felt like no women would fit, only her. He takes a deep breath before he begins to speak, what he’s about to say might ruin their friendship forever but he cannot hold it back anymore, having suppressed his feelings long enough. “Do you know the real reason why Alissa and I divorced?” he asks me and i look at him in confusion. “Because she fell out of love?” i cite the reason he told me back then, not meaning for it to come out as a question. “That’s partially true but i was the one who fell out of love.” he confesses with a serious look on his face. I don’t get it, why would he lie about this? Just as i’m about to speak he raises his hand, signaling that he’s not done talking. “In fact i don’t think i was ever in love with her, I tried to convince myself that i was tho. But the moment i was wishing, longing that it was you by my side instead of her, i knew my marriage was doomed. That was the moment I realized i’ve been in love with you the entire time.” My breath gets caught in my throat, my heart starts to beat so fast and loud that i can hear it and i’m sure he can too. I’m trying to form a single sentence but my mind has gone blank. How the hell did i never noticed? I always thought i knew him better than i know myself but it appears that everything has been a lie. How could i be so naive? “Joe, is this a joke?” i ask with a trembling voice after a minute or two, hoping he would say yes. He can’t throw 20 years of friendship out of the window like that, he can’t be that selfish. Joe shakes his head slowly “i’m not. And i know this might be shock-“ i don’t let him finish as i abruptly get up from the dining chair “Are you fucking serious?” i shout in his face “What the fuck is wrong with you? Why are you saying this shit to me now after so many years?” Joe doesn’t even flinch, he was probably excepting my reaction. But the hurt that flashed in his eyes was so evident that for a split second i felt my heart break for him. “Please sit down, lets talk this out. I’m not expecting anything in return from you at all, i just want you to listen to what I have to say. ” he pleads but i can’t stay in this house for a second longer, i’ve already heard enough. I feel like I’m suffocating and if i don’t get out of here i will collapse from the lack of oxygen. “Not now please” my voice cracks, tears are starting to form and it’s taking everything in me to stop them from falling “i really need to get out of here.” i say as i go to the living room to take my belongings. Joe doesn’t bother to follow her, anything he would do or say would make the situation worse. He fucked up so bad that he was sure he had lost her forever. Joe runs his shaky hands down his face in distress as he hears the front door slam shut behind her.

I COULDNT CHOOSE ONE bc he seems to be suitable for ALL tropes. but of course, wearing his jersey is a fucking MUST. i love seeing you in my notifications!! ur reblogs/comments keep me going HAHA

Tumblr media
pairing: felipe otaño x f!reader
length: 1.2k
tags: NSFW, mentions of reader’s body being smaller/shorter then Pipe’s, nothing else other than Pipe thirsting for u and absolutely losing it over seeing his River Plate jersey on you.
Tumblr media
The first time you wore Pipe’s jersey, you ended up with your cheek pressed against the sheets.
He simply cannot help but find you so attractive—he can’t even remember when and where his crush on you grew, or how he started to fall for you—but one thing is for sure, you take up his entire waking thoughts and more. There's something dug deep into the animalistic side of his brain that's so terribly inclined for your attention, and the minute you're giving it, he's diving all in. Because he's been waiting for it.
With your presence in his apartment, it was so hard for him to take his eyes off of you. He kept himself busy so as to not follow you just about anywhere throughout his own place. He doesn’t make a single peep, but he’s so drawn to you that he manages to unconsciously linger close enough that you can feel his eyes on you.
You grow nervous under his gaze, and you start to over analyze everything you’re doing. Or, is there something on your face?
All of a sudden you stopped paying attention to what you’re doing, the pitcher on your hand idly continuing to pour water out, but your eyes don’t register the fact that your mug is already filled to the brim. Pipe watches in half panic as the water spills all over the table and onto you, effectively turning your red tshirt into a dark maroon at your belated realization.
He helps you clean the mess, all the while trying very hard not to stare at the way your wet t-shirt clings to your body. And when you ask for a spare shirt to change into, he doesn’t hesitate to sprint to the laundry room and haphazardly grab the nearest one out of the clean pile. He knows he’s going to miss seeing the look of that wet tshirt on you, but your needs have to come first.
And when you come out of the bathroom clad in his River Plate jersey, he decides that it’s the best outfit he has seen you in.
The fabric easily engulfs your figure, and it fascinates him how something that fitted him so well, looks so good on you. How is it possible that you make the jersey look even better than it already is? And, you surely look more beautiful than you were in your own clothes, and as much as he hates to admit it, the sight of you in his jersey turns him on.
Hands fidgeting at his sides, his eyes are glued at your figure from across the room. It was an abnormal day, only for the sole fact that you had to stay at his place for a few days due to an urgent problem back in your own place. He has been looking forward to the intimate moments he can have with you, being able to admire your pretty figure in peace.
Except for the fact that that ‘peace’ had been rudely interrupted the minute you put on his jersey. The white and red fabric had slipped down your shoulder more than once, and eventually you gave up trying to fix it. Pipe can feel his breathing hitch when he makes note that you’re not wearing a bra—at all. His eyes move down and the sight of your hard nipples poking through the material confirms what he is afraid of.
His frustration only grows more when he realizes you don’t even know how much the smallest things can drive him crazy. It’s unfair, he thinks, as his eyes scan the bare skin of your legs as you sit on the couch curled up and fully invested in a book.
He wonders if you’re wearing any panties under the jersey, or if he could just reach under and your cunt would be there, waiting for his touch.
When you run a hand across your hair, he furrows his brows slightly as his eyes rake over the way his white and red jersey hikes up ever so slightly, following the curves of your body. He thinks he saw a glimpse of white panties that peeks out from underneath, but he’s not entirely sure, it’s getting harder to think.
All hell breaks loose the minute you stand on the tip of your toes to reach up to the top shelf and grab something (he really couldn’t care less, his eyes are on the way his name is proudly presented on the back of the jersey, on you), and you lower yourself back on both sturdy feet but the fabric is still bunched around your midriff, exposing your entire underwear to him, he's on you.
Crowding you into your space and smearing a messy kiss across the tender skin of your throat, hands big and wide and rough and coming up to cradle you everywhere, in all ways—the back of your head, the curve of your throat, the swell of your breast, the fat at your hips—as if he just has to. he needs to be the one in charge, now that you've granted him the attention he wanted, refusing to let you slip away.
If he's not overtaken by his own lust, Felipe might even let you on your back for a while, panting against your naked skin and leaving tiny bites in his wake. And he'll snap his hips into yours with the kind of control any normal man might have and he'll kiss you until you're both swollen by it, a little messy with it, and he'll repress every shudder that threatens to turn him into something else whenever you gasp out his name.
Just when you think you are at the peak of the pleasure he gives you—Pipe will fuck you from behind.
Flips you over onto your stomach and hike your hips up into the air, spread your legs enough to accommodate him. You don't know if it's true—and later, when he is a little more in his right mind and shy and embarrassed of his little lapse of self-control, he won't explain himself—but it feels like he gets bigger; stretches longer, suddenly heavier as he wraps himself over your back, feels thicker and deeper inside your body than he did before.
He'll plant his hands beside your head, nuzzle into your cheek with a tortured sound from the pit of his chest, and rut into you like a fucking animal. And he doesn't stop when your knees start to shake or your hips threaten to fall flat to the bed; he'll only wrap an arm around your body to keep it close, to keep you from slipping away, and he'll carve himself inside of you until you're boneless and sure to be sore later.
Always.
Later, after he's finally let you take a shower—bathes you in his own body soap—and given you something to wear—his own sweatshirt that just feels softer than anything you’ve ever owned—he'll wrap up with you on the couch and refuse to acknowledge that side of him.
Pipe will shake his head and pointedly not look at you, but his frown will be obvious, where he's pressed it into your hair. "Nah, I’m chill guy."
"I’m serious," you can't help but grin, which only makes him press his mouth—and nose—into you a little harder. "Nothing wrong with it, you just get a little...wild, is all."

bet my heart, part 3
on a coastline
series masterlist
Tumblr media
The All-Star Weekend events fly by, but my time in Toronto hasn't come to an end. It was concert day. Rogers Centre was sold out, and at this point in my career, you'd think that I'd be a lot less anxious on concert day, but I still woke up at the crack of dawn and was at the venue as early as possible. I was still a ball of nerves every single time I was going to be singing in front of people. As much as I hated my day of internal panic, I knew that as soon as I was on that stage, the nerves were gone and it was just me having an absolute blast with 20,000 of my closest friends.
One of my favorite ways to calm my nerves on show days and spend time pre-show was to sit in the middle of the stage, guitar in my lap, and just play. There was no one watching me, no one had any expectations. Today is no exception to this pre-show ritual. I make myself comfortable, sitting criss-cross on center stage, my guitar settled into my lap, and I start strumming.
Every once in a while when I'd do this, my photographer would pull out her phone and take videos that I'd eventually post to social media because my fans loved these little one-women jam sessions that would sometimes turn into me working on new music.
Today I was currently strumming and singing the chorus of She’s In Love With The Boy. I switch to a song I’m working on after a while, a song inspired by Quinn. Unbeknownst to him, he inspired most of my songs. A good majority of the songs I have about boys and love, and yada yada yada were songs I had written based on my feelings for Quinn.
“Still haven’t told hockey boy you have more than friend feelings?” my photographer, Jess, asks, plopping down on the stage next to me.
“No,” I sigh, falling backwards to lay on my back. “We’ve been friends for over a decade, I don’t want to be like hey by the way, I’m actually in love with you, and then poof friendship over because he doesn’t feel the same.”
“Girl, he looks at you like you hung the moon and the stars, if he isn’t in love with you, he’s lying to himself.” I don’t say anything, continuing to stare up at the roof of the arena. “C’mon, you need to get ready, Jax and Donna sent me to get you, saying you needed to be in hair and makeup like ten minutes ago.” I stand up and make my way back to the dressing rooms. I plop myself in a chair and let Jax and Donna do their thing.
“So, you and the hockey player?” Jax asks. Was this everyone's preferred conversation subject this weekend? I couldn't have on conversation without my, apparently very obvious, feelings for my best friend being brought up.
“We’re just friends,” I say. The same answer I give him, and everyone else, every time the question is asked.
“A shame, the entire internet is in love with you two,” he says. “Like, you might be bigger than Swift and Kelce,” he says. I rolled my eyes at that one, nothing was bigger than Taylor Swift.

Too Sweet (Ch 3)
Harvey x Reader
Ch 1 ~ Ch 2
Summary: picking up off last chapters cliffhanger and diving straight into Harvey’s 4 heart event. You resolve the conflict after the incident with George, Harvey gives you a checkup, and you two share a jar of pickles in his apartment. 💘🥒
Authors note: I know nothing about the Air Force I’m so sorry. It’s just for the plot and vibes. He needed a backstory!!
Word count: 1.7k! A longer chapter as a treat
Tumblr media
“Harvey! Oh my god why are you here? Wait, no, I don’t mean it like that” the surprise visit from the doctor had you stumbling over your words. “You scared me. And I don’t actually think your mustache is stupid. I just… I was really embarrassed about what happened earlier.”
“I actually stopped by to thank you for backing me up earlier. George can be stubborn, so I’m glad you got him to listen to you.” The doctor averted eye contact and stuffed his hands in his pockets. “Do you mind if I join you?”
“Oh uhhh, sure. How much of what I said did you hear by the way?” You hoped silently that he hadn’t heard you call him cute, especially since you’d been talking to a chicken.Harvey slid down and sat next to you on the floor of the coop.
“Just the part where you insulted my mustache,” he replied, stroking his own facial hair. “The farm is coming along nicely. You must be very dedicated to make such a turn around in such a short time.”
Oh thank Yoba you thought to yourself. “Thank you. I guess I’m trying to make up for lost time; I want to honor Grandpa’s memory because he loved this farm and the community. I used to spend a couple weeks here in the summer when I was growing up. I haven’t been back to the valley since I was a teenager. I didn’t think Lewis would recognize me when I came back.” You laughed quietly, an image of you as a gawky adolescent with braces coming back to you
“About earlier, we can put that behind us if you’d like. I didn’t mean to be short with you either. I was startled so I apologize for being curt.” Harvey looked at you with a kind expression before rising from the floor. “I’d like for us to be on good terms going forward.” He extended his hand and helped you up.
———————————————————————————
The bell on the door chimed as you walked in and Harvey’s head poked up from his paperwork. “Hey! Just the person I wanted to see today actually.”
“Oh?”
“I was about to write you a letter recommending that you schedule your annual checkup. If you don’t mind, I’ve got time today actually for a cursory exam.” Truthfully you weren’t very fond of hospitals, or doctor’s appointments. But you were also a terrible liar and had no time to think of an excuse. Better just to get it over with, you supposed.
“I can make it work.” You set the jar of pickles aside temporarily and followed Harvey to an exam room. You sat down on the paper, uncomfortable with the sudden formal shift in your dynamic. You’d gone from friend to patient in a matter of minutes. Harvey placed his stethoscope just under the collar of your shirt and you flinched at the touch of the cold metal.
“Sorry it’s chilly,” Harvey said. “Your heart rate is a little high. Do hospitals make you nervous?” He asked with a slight furrow in his brow.
“A little bit” you admitted. It certainly didn’t help that this was the most physical contact the two of you had shared since you met. He placed his hand on your shoulder and your eyes met. You felt your palms start sweating.
“Take a deep breath for me please” you did as instructed and tried to focus on anything else but the feeling of his hand on you. “Your lungs sound strong.” Harvey was in his element as he checked off the boxes of a routine checkup. He tested your reflexes, examined your ears and eyes, writing down his observations on his clipboard. “So far you seem to be in good health. I just have a few more questions about your lifestyle”
“Ask away, Doc.” Harvey seemed slightly flustered at the nickname but made a quick recovery. He pushed his glasses back up his nose and stood up straighter, clearing his throat
“As I was saying. Working on the farm involves a fair amount of physical labor I assume, so I’m sure you get enough exercise. What do you usually eat in a day?”
“Oh I usually just eat the foragables I find around the valley. There’s a lot of leeks and wild onions out now. I saw a weird looking berry the other day and I ate a couple of those. Sometimes I eat eggs from the chickens, or buy something from Gus for dinner.” Harvey was visibly stressed as he absorbed the information you gave him.
“I would highly advise that you eat a more balanced diet. Foraging is fine as a snack but it won’t provide enough energy for your activity levels. Eggs are good, but I’d implore you to try and eat from all the food groups”
“So this probably isn’t a great time to say I also eat the algae I find in the mines?” You’d never seen the poor doctor so stressed; you imagined most of his patients weren’t quite as odd as you.
“Let’s move on. How much sleep do you get at night?”
“6ish, sometimes less, sometimes more”
“Well, 8 hours a night is recommended but 6 isn’t terrible I suppose. But I’d encourage you to try and find a healthier routine. Farming is labor intensive and if you don’t give your body the care it needs you won’t be able to keep up sooner or later.” He had a look of genuine worry in his eyes and it pulled at your heartstrings. You’d only known each other for several months, but you sensed the beginning of a deep connection.
“I’ll try to be better,” you replied softly. You weren’t used to being chastised, but you understood he meant well.
“Thank you. You’re free to go and have an official clean bill of health from me”
“Well I stopped by to ask a favor actually”
“Oh?”
“I was wondering if you’d do me the honors of being the very first taste tester of my first batch of farm fresh pickles” you grinned and gestured toward the door “I left them on the counter.” Harvey smiled back and held the door open for you.
“I’d be honored. I’m actually about to close up for the day, would you like to come upstairs?”
The two of you headed upstairs to the small apartment above the clinic. Furniture was sparse and well loved, and there was a small kitchenette off the main room. The back wall held a large bookshelf that boasted an assortment of books and some small trinkets. Another shelf was lined carefully with model planes. There was a radio station in the corner by the window. “It’s not much, but it’s home,” Harvey said sheepishly.
“It’s great” you replied, eyes scanning the room with eagerness. You were itching to learn more about him. You took a seat on his small sofa, your heart nearly skipping a beat when he sat next to you, his knee inches away from yours. “You can have the first one” you offered, extending the open pickle jar toward Harvey.
“Don’t mind if I do.” Harvey reached in and plucked out a particularly large pickle before biting into it. His eyes lit up as he tasted it. “This is delicious! You’ve really never made pickles before?” You shook your head. “Well you certainly have a knack for it.” You grabbed a pickle for yourself and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. You were glad he wasn’t lying to spare your feelings.
“What’s with the planes?” You saw Harvey get a far off look on his face while he thought about his response
“I’ve always been fascinated by aviation. I did a stint in the Air Force years ago. I wanted to become a pilot but it didn’t pan out. It ended up paying for my med school tuition though. The model planes are something I like to do in my free time. I find them relaxing, and they remind me of my time in service.”
“I would have never guessed that. Pilots and doctors are pretty different. What led you down this path?”
“I think I’ve always had an affinity for helping people. I joined the Air Force to serve my country; this feels like a way to serve the community in a different way.”
“That’s actually really selfless.” You toyed with images of Harvey in uniform as you reached for another pickle, not realizing that Harvey had the same idea. Your hands met in the rim of the jar and you flinched back instinctively. The small touch left you wanting more. You adjusted your legs slightly, tentatively letting one fall against his. Harvey made no effort to break contact.
“Tell me more about yourself. You said you explore the mines. Are there really monsters in there?”
“There are! I haven’t made it down very far but there’s all kinds of creatures down there.” You animatedly described the things you’d encountered on your adventures: colorful slimes, stealthy rock crabs, large buzzing insects, agile bats and more. Harvey looked on with a mixture of awe and fear.
His voice grew soft as he spoke “please be careful in the mines. I’d hate to see you get hurt.” Suddenly it was as if a switch had gone off in his mind and he got up from the couch. “Wait here one second!” He bolted across the studio and down the stairs. You heard rummaging from below before Harvey emerged again holding an armful of various medicines and first aid supplies. “Take these.” He thrusted the bundle of supplies into your arms.
“Harvey I can’t just take these from you. These are expensive” you insisted, trying to hand them back to him. A roll of gauze unraveled on the floor. Harvey plucked it from the ground and placed it on a table.
“Nonsense. Consider it part of your checkup.” He looked you in the eyes with a pleading expression. “Please take them. And promise me you’ll keep them with you in the mines”
“I promise.”

Object of Affection | Levi x Reader Fluff
Levi x Reader Fluff
Summary: Some may think Levi is whipped or your servant. But acts of service is how Levi shows his love
Word Count: 1.9k
Author's Note: song correlated: Ridin' by ASAP Rocky ft. Lana Del Rey. btw whenever I say song correlated I dont mean it with the intention to offer to listen to it while reading. It was just the song that inspired the idea or that was on loop while writing. posted: 4/18/24. I'm really glad AOT has sparked me to write again. I need more practice lol. Enjoy.
Eren, Jean, and Armin were the first of your friends to be sitting at breakfast in the dining hall. Sasha was in one of the lines to get food. It was a sunny day and a few ODM drills were available for whoever wanted the practice. Some other classes were going on as well. It was a general casual day for the scouts. For some scout units, there was food preparation for future expeditions, but for you and your friends, you did not have much on the agenda.
“I think I’m going to do some drills today,” Eren said. “Are you going to join us?” He asked Armin who usually went to Erwin’s office.
“Yeah, I can. I finished the little project with Commander Erwin.” He said then took a bite of his bread. Sasha hurried to the table to sit down. Her plate had a bigger portion than everyone else at the table. “It is a nice day outside too.”
More people started entering the dining area. The morning crowd of scouts was starting to pick up. Jean noticed you and Levi walked through the door.
“Y/N’s coming. Maybe she’ll practice with us,” Jean said. The table noticed Levi say something to you and then you smiled and started going towards them.
“I don’t know she’s been spending a lot of time with Hange and Moblit doing research and testing theories,” Eren said.
“Morning guys!” Sasha brightly greeted the table. The line for breakfast was moving a little slower with the incoming scouts. Everyone acknowledged Sasha.
“Sasha, are you going to do drills today? We’re all going to.” Armin asked invitingly.
“Yeah, and I think Y/N was thinking about it too,” Sasha said. You approached the table and smiled at your friends.
“Are you not going to eat?” Jean asked.
“Levi’s getting my food.” You said. They look over to see Levi's arms crossed standing in line with the scouts.
“Why don’t you get your food yourself?” Eren asked
“Levi knows I don’t like standing in lines so he just said he’ll start getting my food.” You said. Jean and Eren laughed.
“Wow if only I could have the captain serve me food.” Jean joked and you rolled your eyes with a smile on your face.
“He’s not serving me, he just knows I don’t like standing in lines so he offered to get my food from now on.”
“What if he gets you the wrong food?” Eren asked.
“Well Levi knows what I like,” you said.
“We’re going to do drills today, you should come,” Armin said. Most of your free time has been spent with Hange and Moblit. You looked up to Hange and she liked you. You enjoyed working with her and in general learning more about the titans.
“Yeah, I’ll come.” You said and your friends were elated you were joining them. “Ugh wait! I forgot my belt and some straps in my room.” You rolled your eyes. “It’s such a nice day out for drills too. Hopefully, it won’t get hotter.”
A few minutes later, Levi put a plate of breakfast in front of you. He softly smiled.
“Do you want water or tea?” Levi asked.
“Water please.” You said and then he walked away.
“Yeah sounds like a server to me,” Jean said.
“Stop it, Jean. He’s not serving me. When you get a girlfriend you’ll understand that you’ll want to help her and make her feel like she doesn’t need to worry about anything.” You said back.
“I feel sorry for whoever decides to date you, Jean,” Sasha said with a full mouth and you both giggled.
“Whatever I am a catch,” Jean said. Levi came back with water for you and some tea for himself.
“I have a meeting I’m going to go to now,” Levi said to you. The table greeted Captain Levi and he acknowledged them normally.
“I’m going to do drills today with my friends.” You said to him.
“Nice weather for that today.”
“Yeah, but, I left my belt in my room—”
“I can go get it.” Levi offered.
“Thank you that would be really helpful.” You said and he left for his meeting.
“Y/N’s has him whipped,” Jean said.
Truly you did. Levi wanted to help you in any way he could. On the last expedition, he made sure you had your own food to take of yourself. Levi always triple-checked that your gear was in top shape. If you mentioned something was sore, he would offer his best to massage you. If you mentioned anything that inconvenienced you he would do his best to find a way to fix it for you. You once mentioned that the drawer to your nightstand kept getting stuck halfway when pulling it out and you would have to tug hard to get it to keep pulling out. Later that day he took apart your nightstand to fix the sliding drawer. All of a sudden it was working and you didn’t think about it anymore. You didn’t even know Levi fixed it until a week later.
Once, when you and Levi passed by a stationary shop, you mentioned how you have been journaling since you were young. You had eight journals and mentioned a slight fear that they would end up getting damaged or burned in a fire. You treasured your journals that were filled with your memories. He later got you a small perfect-sized fire box that you could keep your journals safe in.
You and Sasha met up with Mikasa and decided to be grouped for the drills. It was getting a little warmer than expected. But there was still a slight breeze. You three started stretching and getting your gear together. Then you noticed Levi walking up to you with the belt and straps you needed.
“I got the belt you needed,” Levi said and your heart fluttered. It was so sweet how helpful he’s always been.
“Thank you,” You said.
“You look really pretty,” He said and you blushed a little.
“I’m about to get really sweaty.” You laughed.
“It’s starting to get hotter.” He said squinting and looking up at the sky. “Show the dummy titans no mercy.” He said and you smiled while watching him walk off.
“You two are so freaking cute!” Sasha said making you blush more. “I’m so excited for when I get a boyfriend and we can go on double dates!” That did excite you and you smiled.
“I can’t wait to meet the guy who deserves you.” You said while putting on your belt and straps. “A guy that’s sweet.”
“I think you need someone who loves meat just as much as you do,” Mikasa said. “Or someone who can cook—” Sasha squealed.
“Oh my god that would be perfect!”
“That would be the perfect guy for you,” you said.
“You guys want to compete for the most kills?” Jean called out in the distance. Connie was now with him, Eren, and Armin.
“Mikasa is going to win! Back out now while you can!” You yelled back. The drills began. “Mikasa you should give him a head start!” You said and Sasha laughed. Though it was spring and getting greener outside the temperature got hot while everyone was doing drills. It was an unexpected rise. You pulled at your shirt trying to get ventilation whenever you had the time to do so. The heat made everyone work harder because flying in the air gave everyone a slight breeze. After the drills, everyone was sweating. It was a good workout but people were getting tired quicker because of the heat. When walking back to your stuff Sasha was giving Jean crap about Mikasa beating him. It wasn’t a surprise but the competition did make Jean work harder. Jean was a great scout and even gave you some helpful pointers with the ODM gear. Out of everyone doing the drills, he got the second-highest kill count right behind Mikasa. As you approached your stuff you noticed three water bottles that were perspirating because of the heat.
“Is this not where we put our stuff?” Sasha asked. But then she saw her bag and Mikasa saw her stuff.
“Whose water bottles are these?” Mikasa asked. You noticed the drenched little note under the water bottle closest to your stuff. The note read: I noticed you guys didn’t have water. Stay hydrated.
“They’re from Levi. He got us water because he saw we didn’t have any.” You said and Sasha started chugging hers.
“That’s considerate of him,” Mikasa said and the three of you started chugging the cold water.
“Thanks, Levi it hit the spot!” Sasha said and crinkled her empty bottle.
“I need to change, I’m so sweaty and probably smell bad.” You said. Many scouts who did drills all had the same idea to take cold rinse-off showers. No one was expecting a spike in the temperature. When you got back to your room with Sasha. You noticed another water bottle and a note near your bed. It was from Levi again. Come to my office for dinner. You smiled and told Sasha. Your heart fluttered because he was so sweet and no one else saw this side of him. He used to be so shy in front of you and you used to think he didn’t like you. Levi would be his normal self to everyone but then he would be quiet in front of you. It made you feel insecure until Hange exposed Levi. She and Moblit told you that Levi talked a lot about you and wanted to get to know you. Hange may have been the one to tell you that Levi thought you were pretty. Which gave you the confidence to approach him.
In the evening you went to Levi’s room, and you were ready for some alone time. When you knocked on the door, Levi opened it pretty quickly. He shut the door behind you and embraced you in a big hug. He smelled nice and then you noticed the smell of his office.
“Sit down I made us some soup.” He said. “I saw they had that bean mixture you don’t like for dinner.” Your heart fluttered and the soup smelled good. The smell made you hungrier than you were before. “I got some bread and mashed potatoes though to fill you up more. You need the energy from being outside most of the day.” He said.
“Thank you, Levi,” You said grateful for how thoughtful he is. It was so nice how much he tried to help you or thought of ways to make your life easier.
“Anything for you, Y/N,” He said and you two began eating. The soup was satisfying and Levi getting bread for it was a good idea. Honestly, Levi did a lot for you because he cared for you so much. He had little to no dating experience before you and he did not want to do anything to make you feel like he didn’t respect you. Levi has always been considerate of you since you started getting close and dating. He would listen you to and remember little things about you. You felt cared for and though you and Levi haven’t told one another that you loved each other. You already knew.

Note
Hi!
From your Jan prompt list, can I request number 5 with Kylian. Genre: ANGST x
Thanks!!
-> please could you be tender and I will sit close to you. let’s give a minute before we admit that we’re through.
| authors note: loosely proofed, sorry angels.
you could not pin point what was the worst of it: the lack of fighting left in you both or the acceptance that it was never going to work. kylian sat, staring at the diamond rings on the coffee table. you were hugging your legs, your knees acting as a head rest as you stared with him. he had a thousand yard stare - off in his own world, ruminating about the relationship. the hard feelings were settling in his consciousness and you felt guilty and ashamed because you checked out of the relationship months ago.
you were engaged. that was all everyone cared about, talked about. they rarely asked about you and your feelings. only kylian and the wedding mattered to the people around you. the constant questions of the details of the most magical day a girl could dream of and each question made you shrivel up in the inside. you knew it wasn’t going to work. then, as if it was the greatest thing in the world, people starting asking how soon you wanted to get pregnant. that question and your reaction made the decision an easy one. no marriage or baby could patch the cracks of your relationship.
you wished you were happier when you saw him drop down to one knee, the tears welled in his eyes with love and the tears you cried were overwhelmed with fear.
we can’t do this, you thought to yourself as he slid the ring on your shaky hand.
this won’t fix us, you recalled yourself thinking as friends and family cheered for you.
you felt pressured to say yes - everyone said that you were made for him and he was made for you. but they didn’t know that the man who hugged you and held out your hand to showcase the massive diamond, was not the man you fell in love with. no, because that was the boy version of kylian you fell in love with and this version of kylian, was a man. a man that you couldn’t recognize that you weren’t happy.
emotional maturity is what he lacked. empathy being the biggest key to his failure - he was not considerate that you lived a life outside of him. kylian could not help constantly comparing your lifestyle to the other wags.
“you don’t have to work baby, just relax and stay at home.” he parroted every time you confronted him with issues, “i can take care of you. you can just move in with me.”
“i can’t walk away from my life for you kylian.” you stated knowing it was the logical thing to do. “especially when we aren’t even married. Iwould we be having this conversation if you teammate didn’t just get married?”
“what does he have to do with this?” he argued but you both knew it was the truth. he wanted his cake and to eat it too - but the truth stood between you two, a truth you could not ignore: marriage takes two people to care, to wake up and decide to love that person through good and bad. for rich and for poorer, in sickness and in health.
“we aren’t them ky. i’m not her.” you lowered your voice. “why can’t i be with you and have my career?”
“because it’s getting in the way! it’s making things difficult. you never come to a match, you never support me.”
you had a gut feeling he was resentful of the dedication your career demanded of you. he loved it at first, it was something he admired. in the end, he was jealous and hated it.
“you are not my world.” you said as calmly as possible and you saw him crumble in seconds.
it was only months later that he proposed and you knew it was because of the comment you made that night. you wished you never said yes and you wished that sitting on this couch, next to kylian, wouldn’t have felt like such a relief.
the silence was comforting but your heart still hurt for him. he was genuine in his excitement but he didn’t realize that marriage wasn’t just the wedding. it was actual work.
“you can keep it.” he sniffed. he’d been crying softly, silently ever since you placed the ring on the table.
“it’s best that i don’t.”
“we, i, can’t fix this?” he looked at you, at the frown forming on your face. “i can’t fix this at all, can i?”
“no, ky.”
“let’s just sit here for a while.” he turned his attention back to the ring. “just give it a minute before we really are through.”
