My #1 advice for people moving out is to NOT buy nonstick cookware... not only is the lifespan of nonstick a MAXIMUM of 7 years (usually more like 2-5 years) but teflon, aka Polytetrafluoroethylene-- the plastic coating that makes the cookware nonstick, infuses microplastics into your food.

New cookware sets can cost hundreds of dollars so my advice is to look for 100% stainless steel cookware in thrift stores. Safer, cheaper, & instead of needing to replace every 2-7 years they can potentially last you the entire rest of your life AND they won't start shedding plastic into your food

I'm going to replace all mine with glass containers when i can afford it #i bought everything nonstick thinking it would be easier to deal with. i wanted to be cost-effective & save time so buying cheap nonstick #seemed like a good idea but every single nonstick thing I bought either already needed to be tossed in the trash or the teflon is flaking #aka they have become unsafe to use. but i dont have the money to replace all my fucking kitchenware!!!!! #today the casserole dishes that i bought 2.5 years ago are going in the trash. fucking waste of money and awful for the planet #boiling water to get rid of microplastics in a flaking nonstick pot... my life is a joke LMFAOOO #i was going to put a brand suggestion for nonstick here based on what lasted the longest for anyone who absolutely NEEDS nonstick #but when i search for who owns that brand and then searched with israel in quotes... first result was them being voted brand of the year #in israel... so never mind... dude fuck all these big companies i fucking hate this shit #oh btw ceramic is a good nonstick alternative but all my ceramics lasted less than 3 years... their lifespan is about 2 years apparently #theres way too many tags on this already but for anyone who reads them all HIIII and also you can literally find better furniture #on the side of the road than you will ever find on amazon or from ikea or where the fuck ever

i tried making onigiri but my rice wouldnt stick no matter what (i think the rice cooker overcooked it bc i used short grain rice) so instead i made sushi wraps with rice paper. really good i think everyone should try them. i toasted them a little with some sesame seeds

when you get a bit of free time and you just get the urge to just. finish things. you look at that stack of books you bought three years ago and think "oh I could read through those." you look at your art projects you started a few months back and think "oh I could get those done." you look at the drawers you know are full of old papers from the high school you graduated from long enough ago that it felt like it mattered and you think "I could clear those out." part of you knows you can't finish any of that before you have new unfinished things to focus on but. the thought of wrapping up all the things you didn't get around to and not exactly getting a new start but rather an empty to-do list to start filling up always sounds nice

#minor vent. #i left my home town about 6 years ago #and im kind of sick of some friends and especially family being like oh come visit. come up and visit us we never see you #like are you not perfectly capable of travelling down to see me why is it always on me to make the effort #im about 5 hours away by train and its just like. idk. Annoying #also i havent forgotten the one time a friend of mine just bought a house with her boyfriend and i had just moved to worcester #and i was like yeah you should come see me for a weekend we can hang out #and she didnt because her boyfriend told her. and i quote. #'why would we waste time travelling when we could spend it decorating our new house' #like yea i get it they were excited to have their own house but telling me that spending time visiting me was a waste.
