Oregon GOP: On The Run as Earth Runs Out of Time

Oregon Republicans fled the capital to avoid voting on a bill that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the state by 80% by 2050.

On Thursday, June 20, Governor Kate Brown authorized the state police to round up and bring back the missing state senators. Senate President Peter Courtney has issued a $500 fine Friday (June 21) which will be renewed each day they continue to delay a vote.

According to the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change, the world needs to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
