So subsequent to being a robodebt victim I sort of fell into this funk of ‘not only is there no point in trying, but in fact it’s better if I don’t, bc every time I have ever tried to do something good it’s backfired horrifically, so I’m just going to make like a tree and exist, no trying to do anything for myself, just drink some water, get some sunlight, and that is all’. And recently, after a few years of living a tree-like existence, I thought ‘you know, this is illogical, like there is no rational correlation between ‘trying’ and the universe taking a big shit on you, let’s just try again, yeah?’ So I signed up for a one hour a week job and the Australian government took that as an excuse to call up all of my previous employers of the last decade to ask for payslips and as an aside tell them all I’m homeless. Additionally all my online government accounts are being overrun with entirely fake income data from a century ago, not to mention apparently thousands of dollars in superannuation I have never had. And the logical part of me is just like ‘ok cool yeah, obviously they’re mistaken, someone just got their wires crossed, it’ll work out’, but that’s exactly what I told myself the last time a whole bunch of fabricated data was flying around my government accounts bc of robodebt, so I already know what’s coming. In conclusion: irrational belief system confirmed✅

Honey Badger in the Lion's Den
Pairing: Max Verstappen x reader x Dan Riccciardo
Warnings: smut, threesomes, fmm, swearing
Word Count: 1.5k
a/n: Maxiel is real, prove me wrong. Let me know what you think about the pairing, I hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
Summary: Being the girlfriend of Max Verstappen has its perks: traveling all around the world, attending luxurious parties, and grabbing the attention of a certain Australian driver who can't stop staring at you and Max.
Tumblr media
You and Max had been dating for two years, and enjoyed every second of it. From traveling around the world to attending the most luxurious parties, Max made sure you were always comfortable and happy during the busy racing season. For him, most weekends consisted of tough practice sessions and grueling workouts.
You made it your mission to help him relax when necessary in order to prevent burn out. This consisted of massages or venting sessions before bed. If it was a particularly bad day rough sex in the bed or shower was usually the solution.
This weekend you arrived in Australia, just as Max and Daniel were doing media duties. You couldn't imagine any serious answers were given as the two drivers loved to mess with other during interviews. Watching the two interact from a screen there was no denying Max's boy crush on Daniel. This had been a long running joke online between fans, but it wasn't far from the truth. Max had been idolizing Daniel since they first met, and considered him a best friend. Max would never tell a soul, but whenever his imagination ran loose, the idea of Daniel on top of you made his pants get tighter. He thinks to himself it's wrong to imagine his girlfriend with another man, but it's just a harmless fantasy right?
Australia had been a total disaster for Max, not finishing the race due a gas leak was the last thing any driver wants on Sundays. Daniel had finished 6th, a respectable position considering he was driving in a shitty McLaren tractor-like car. Max was still in a bad mood as night fell on the racing city. Most drivers wanted to go clubbing and celebrate their earned points, including Daniel.
That's when the two of you heard knocking on the hotel door around 10 P.M. Opening the door you find Daniel's signature smile pulling you into a hug. "Hey y/n I haven't had a chance to say hi all weekend, how are you?" You responded by giving him a recap of the shops you visited and the restaurants you tried- his recommendations of course. Max hadn't looked up from his phone, not in the mood to match the Australian's cheery mood. "Are you guys coming out with us? The club we picked has the best champagne."
Max responds by telling him he's too tired to go out tonight and to have fun without him. Daniel could see through Max's bullshit response and looks over to you for an explanation. You shrug your shoulders not exactly sure what to say. Usually when Max had a rough race, him fucking your brains out helped him feel better. That's when you thought of an idea to cheer up Max. It was risky and could ruin one of the closest relationships Max had, but you were positive it would exciting.
Leaning closer to Max, you whisper, "what if we let Daniel watch as I suck your cock?" Max turns quickly around to face you, turning red in the cheeks, "what?" You snake your hand to palm his crouch, already hardening. You turn to face Daniel who's eyes glaze over with desire as he stares intently at the two of you sitting down on the chair nearby. "I think he also wants to watch me take you in my mouth."
Kissing up Max's neck, you unzip his pants and continue to palm his hard cock through his boxers. Max had given in to the pleasure and began making louder noises in response to your touches. You could hear the zip of Daniel's pants as he takes his semi-hard cock out beginning to slowly stroke it.
You decided it was enough teasing for one night and helped Max take off the article of clothing that was separating your mouth and his cock. He was already painfully hard, his tip was colored brightly red, begging for some sort of relief. You began at the bottom licking the shaft and taking his balls in the hands, avoiding the head. "Fuck-please take it all in y/n." You could see how much pre-cum had collected on top of his cock and collected it all on your tongue.
Max soon becomes confused as you get up and walk over to Daniel. He can only watch as you sat on you on one of Daniel's thighs and connected your lips together. After releasing your mouths apart you ask, "How does Max taste?"
"Like fucking Heaven" Daniel is quick to putting his hands on your shirt tugging it off of you. He was pleased to see you opted for a braless outfit as he began to fondle your breasts, kissing you once again. Max began to notice your hips moving against the Australian's thighs, in an attempt to give your clit some attention. Your hands found Daniel's cock and began rubbing him until he was fully erect.
Max thought he had died and was in his personal Heaven, this scenario only played out in his head when he was jerking off by himself, giving him the most intense orgasms. Yet, here they were, his girlfriend and best friend making out as Max got unbelievably harder. He could see y/n whispered something to Daniel as they both got up to remove the remaining pieces of clothing they both had on.
You came up to Max, while Daniel came from the back. Stroking his cock Max let his head fall back onto Daniel's chest. "That's it baby keep going" You however had another idea. You took one of Daniel's hands and placed it on Max's cock, molding it to go up and down the shaft. Max opened his eyes and began grunting louder turning to face Daniel. The two began to make out as Max was reaching closer to his orgasm. Daniel's lips tasted like the pre-game vodka he drank before he knocked on their door. Even though the taste of alcohol lingered on Max's lips he could get drunk on the feeling of having Daniel so close to him only. Why hadn't they done this sooner?
You removed Daniel's hand and instructed Max to lay down as you climbed on top of him and began rubbing his cock on your wet pussy. Finally, you push yourself down, having to adjust to his size no matter how many times you take him inside you. Riding on Max's cock you take Daniel in your mouth moving up and down. Sounds of moans and grunts could be heard as the three of you reach closer to the end.
Max moves his hips at the same time as yours to reach into deeper and faster. Max's cock curves perfectly into you pushing on your walls as you bounce on him in a faster, more desperate pace. He takes his fingers and rubs your clit, "come with me y/n." With the combination of Max deep inside you and stimulation on your clit, you explode first, Max following soon after. The two of you feel as Max's cum fills you up to the brim.
Daniel grabs your head and brings it down on his cock until your nose pressed against his abdomen. "Shit I'm going to cum." He pulls you off and releases his cum onto your lips and face, groaning as waves of pleasure ripple through his body.
You pull off of Max when Daniel puts you on your back, legs open towards him. Max's cum had started dripping out of you when Daniel began licking at your pussy. Throwing your head back in pleasure you couldn't believe you were close to cumming again so soon. He stuck his tongue inside of you licking up all of Max's cum and swallowing it. You finally reached your end as you tugged on Daniel's dark locks and made eye contact with him. As you rode through your second orgasm of the night, you noticed Max had gone to the bathroom and brought water and washcloths for the three of you.
Still breathing hard, you sat up on the bed and accepted the water giving a soft thanks, while Daniel helped clean you up. The room was silent, but comforting. Daniel and Max put on their boxers once more, while you wore one of Max's shirts. In the middle of the bed Max welcomed the embraces of both you and Daniel. He first kissed you also whispering a soft thank-you. He turned to Daniel and kissed him tenderly as the older man accepted the show of affection. Cuddling up all together the three of you drift to sleep, not worrying about the questions you would receive the next day from the other drivers about your absence.

Most people know "a dingo ate my baby".
What a lot of people don't know if that Lindy Chamberlain, the mother who uttered those words after her daughter was killed by a dingo was absolutely vilified by the Australian media.
I remember the first time my parents talked about that case, that happened years before I was born, I don't remember what their opinions were but I remember that they talked about the way she was going to be villified no matter what.
Lindy was put on trial for murder (and initially convicted) and when she was giving her story on the stand or to the media she was absolutely pilloried. She couldn't do anything right.
If she didn't cry she was cold, calculated and it was evidence of her guilt. If she did cry, if she did get emotional, then it's was an indication that she was faking it, performing and trying to manipulate people and that was evidence of guilt.
The way we talk about people's behaviour when we are supposed to weigh up their alleged victim status is very often picking a side and declaring the other a witch. Prove that you're not by passing a series of metrics that no one could ever pass and survive.
I know I'm rambling a lot about this issue for someone who said that they were trying to avoid this issue, but guess who's back on their bullshit and using Tumblr as a therapy tool? It's me, I'm on my bullshit.
It's not always about guilt or innocence, or I should say it's not always only about guilt or innocence, it's about the culture we create that people who are victims are going to have to live in.

this whole mitchell johnson thing feels so bad man. yes he was making valid points about warner's selection, but countless other commentators and journalists have done the same without needing to turn it into a personal attack. and his further clarification on sundaresan's podcast honestly made it sound worse to me because it was essentially an admission to the whole article being motivated by personal issues with warner and bailey. he's right that bailey was out of line by implying mental health issues - that was disappointing for sure. he could and should have just brushed it off as being an opinion piece he thought was unfair. but like...it's kinda hard to look past mitchell johnson's hypocrisy here. yes, he has a right to voice his opinion, but there's a big difference between voicing an opinion and using a paid media platform to air personal grievances. for a guy who has been so open about how nasty press affected his own mental health he's awfully quick to dole it out on others. it's just...a really bad look, and it's not a one-off, it's a pattern. pat, starc, candice, now warner - and it's not just him doing it either! that's my main problem with it tbh.
like. this isn't really about warner vs johnson for me in the end. i think bancroft deserves his spot and i'd also love to see renshaw have another shot at it, but i also think everyone on the team deserves a send-off they can remember fondly and it's a shame whenever any player misses out on that, warner included. and johnson is just one example of the long list of past players i used to look up to whose behaviour in the media has deeply disappointed me recently. i don't understand what it is that makes a handful of them so unable to empathise with the current players and the scrutiny and pressure they're under, to the point of actively stoking the public's poor opinion of them. this team has put up with so much more bullshit than they could possibly deserve, and sometimes it feels like these older blokes take genuine pleasure in bringing them down and comparing them unfavourably to themselves. idk man, i feel like maybe as an australian who grew up with this team and saw them through an uncritical child's eyes, i'm finally getting a taste of the same self-centred arrogance that had the rest of the world hating them. it's probably a good thing to be critical of childhood heros but it certainly doesn't feel fun lol

imagine part vii
imagine: form a mental image or a concept
plot: you didn’t know what you were getting into when you turned your hobby into an actual career on f1. based on Lewis’ “imagine” tweet.
Friday May 6, 2022
care to expound upon that?
After missing the Australian and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix because of illness, it was great to be back, especially at the first-ever Miami Grand Prix. You questioned if it was the stress of your new career, especially after the SA Grand Prix, or the fear of failure creeping back in. The fear was so bad that you opted out of your one chance to be on television. You lied telling the production you were unwell when you were 100% healthy. Four days later, you actually get ill. You didn't believe too much in karma, but it felt like it at that moment. One thing is for sure, you were grateful you didn't tell anyone about your opportunity to be on television. Being relegated back to watching from the sidelines isn't what you wanted to do again, so you vowed to take care of yourself and try not to lie again. All you could do was hope that you'd be given another opportunity, but deep down, you doubted.
You told your viewers and followers you wouldn't be at previous races because you were recovering, so there would be no live updates or videos, but they'd still get the articles. You tried to keep the reason for your absence vague because you didn't want to be perceived as weak, as if you couldn't keep up with the others. Most were messages of support, but still there were a few who tried to speculate about your absence. It took you some time to learn that you don't owe anyone an explanation.
You were kind of grateful the Emilia Grand Prix wasn't too eventful racing-wise, because the "jewelry ban" seemed to be the trending topic of the whole weekend. Along with people calling Lewis "washed" because he missed Q2. You wanted to scream at your television when commentary or others refused to acknowledge he was essentially ending his season to do experimental setups on his car, not his teammate. He was sacrificing his season for the development of the team. Statistically, the greatest driver of all time in F1 was a Black man. Lewis, being the face of this sport, wasn't what they wanted, and seeing him struggle brought them joy. You tried putting that context in your tweets and articles, but there was no changing the ones who prayed for this moment. They had an agenda, you did not. You weren't one to praise the FIA, F1, or other teams because you feared losing credentials if you did not. Making it this far would not change you because from day one, you vowed to call out bullshit when you saw it.
//
"Wow" was all you could think as you entered the Miami Grand Prix Paddock. You didn't know if it was because you'd been away for a while or the number of celebrities walking past you, but the energy was indescribable. An unrecognizable voice calling your name brought you out of your daze. They introduced themselves and once again used your name. "Hi, I don't think I am familiar with you. Can I help you with anything?" is what you said to the stranger in front of you who was wearing multiple media lanyards fitted with an earpiece.
"We were in correspondence previously, via email, about you being a guest on the show Monday, following the Grand Prix. It looks like you are better and we want to know if you will join us this Monday to talk about Miami. Would you be interested?" You froze in place, wanting to be anywhere but there. "Well, there's no backing out this time," you thought. You told them to give you one second as you checked your empty calendar, acting as if you were busy. "Looks like I am free. You still have my contact information, so you can send me the details on what I need to do or read?"
"Is this your correct contact information?" As he flashed you his iPad with all your details. "Yes," you said as you verified all the information. He typed in some more information than asked, "I just sent you an email with the details for tomorrow. Can you check your email quickly and verify that you received it? There is no need to respond right now. " You debated for a second to lie again that you your phone had died but it wasn't worth it. You couldn't run away and hide forever. "Yes, got it. I'll read over it tonight and send back whatever is needed." The man nodded in agreement, thanked you for your time, and walked away. I'm screwed, was all you could think as you continued your walk back to the media center. Your whole mood did a 180º, and you needed to get back in the right mindset to do your job. You had less than an hour before the first group of drivers' press conferences began.
You watched as the first group of drivers walked in: Pierre, Alex, Checo, Lance, and Lewis. It took everything out of you not to let out an audible gasp when Lewis stepped into the media center. You looked around the room to see if anyone else had noticed, and the shocked looks on their faces told you they did. Wearing his signature black Mercedes team shirt, he walked in with items no one could ignore. Jewelry, lots of jewelry. Three watches, rings on every finger, pearl necklaces, earrings. You looked Lewis up and down wondering if there was more, remembering he said he had a piercing he "couldn't remove." "Oh, he's got jokes", is what you thought while getting your laptop and notes together as the drivers' conference was about to begin.
You looked up and noticed Lewis tilting his head and smirking in your direction. It was as if he was stifling laughter. You looked around the room to find out what was funny just to see all eyes were on you. You were beyond confused and turned around too, hoping to see what everyone was looking at. All that was behind you was the exit. You didn't want to turn around, but a voice caused you to.
"Care to expound upon that? 'The jokes' I have?" Lewis said into his microphone, still smirking. A mic was suddenly in your face and a realization hit you. "Oh shit, I said that aloud?" This time actually saying it to yourself. Lewis sat in his chair with his head down, trying to hold in a laugh, but failed miserably. Your body language told him you were flustered and didn't mean to say that to him.
You took a deep breath, trying to remember the questions you had, but to no avail. "First, my apologies. I didn't mean to say that. I love the pearls by the way. Second, I hope you're well" you said, trying to use kindness and jokes to backpedal. "Um, I guess I'll ask you, 'Is this the beautiful jewelry, a response to the FIA regarding their now hard enforcement of drivers and jewelry? Do you feel as if it's directly mainly towards you?'" You sat down and passed the mic back quickly, wanting to become invisible. You'd be the first to ask for a copy of the transcript because you blanked out after asking your question. The day could not end quickly enough for you.
You were about to pack up to head to your hotel but pulled out your phone to take a video of the media room after conferences were done. You wanted to give your followers a quick behind-the-scenes scoop, something you had previously wanted years ago. As you were recording, a conversation caught your ear, causing you to put your phone down. "Who is that girl?" "What organization does she work for?" You looked out the corner of your eyes to see daggers being thrown your way. Yep, they're talking about me. The embarrassment you felt earlier now turned into annoyance because you were being disrespected.
"Hi, if you want to know about me, all you have to do is ask. No need to go stir-crazy trying to figure it out." with a little smile. The shocked faces turned your way because they realized you had caught them. "Well, since you heard us, who are you? Who do you work for?" You didn't appreciate the tone in their voice or the glares they were giving you. "First, I will not tolerate this disrespect. I greeted myself to you all with respect, so I expect the same thing. I know you do it with each other, so why am I not given the same courtesy?" They scoffed and walked away. The last thing you heard was another voice saying, "We earn respect here, so when you're ready to talk to us, then come over." A few months ago, this situation would have made you recoil and leave, but you didn't give in. Even though you previously planned to call it a night, you unpacked your items and sat back down. They weren't getting the luxury of even thinking they ran you off.
You're finishing up writing an article about Friday's festivities and made it go live before leaving. You felt so accomplished and wanted to reward yourself with sleep. Before you left, you scrolled through your camera roll to see if you captured the video of the media center you planned on recording before that ordeal went down. "It should be like a ten-second clip. Why is this one over a two minutes?" is what you thought as you searched your camera roll. You clicked on the video expecting to crop it, when you heard familiar voices in the background. You never stopped recording, and you ended up catching the whole dispute from earlier.
You sat back down, trying so hard to hold in your laugh because you couldn't believe your luck. Being paranoid, you emailed the video to yourself and saved it in other locations because you felt one day you would need to use it. Not for blackmail, but to explain what you dealt with in your short time in this new career. No one would believe your word alone, so you needed some intangible evidence.
When you made it back to your hotel and did your nightly routine, you wanted to do nothing but sleep when you got into bed. You grabbed your phone and saw a reminder you set: "Sign the paperwork". You scrolled through your email until you found the subject line "Media Availability 9 May 2022". There were multiple attachments of legal and consent documents that required your digital signature. The legal language left your head spinning because that was out of your expertise. You googled the terminology and still didn't comprehend it all. You just hoped you weren't signing your life away when you sent the documents back. You just wanted to sleep and could care about that later.
As you were placing your phone on the charger, you remembered you didn't send out a tweet that your new article. When you logged onto Twitter, your mentions were tremendously higher than normal. It was nothing but GIFs and videos of Lewis laughing at your awkward interaction. You were just grateful the camera didn't capture your reactions. Your mentions read "Oh she's back!" "The only woman in the media who can make Lewis laugh like that" "Looks like you're well!" "Welcome back, thanks, for the laugh"
The tweets put you at peace, what you needed at that exact moment. You sent out a tweet "Yes, I'm back and well. This isn't how I planned my first weekend back to go, but things happen. Happy I made you all laugh. Also, a new article about Friday in Miami is live. As usual, link in my bio." You avoided using Lewis' name, so as not to start up any more negative reactions. You worked so hard the past month to have those cease.
You were about to close the app when a tweet from a familiar face caught your eye. The account belonged to a reporter you dealt with earlier that night. "To the new and old media members, remember, respect is not a given. You must work for respect. Don't let a lanyard inflate your ego." The replies were filled with people speculating about who or what the tweet was about. And other reporters replying, "Just because you get a pass doesn't give you respect."
You were so annoyed and felt defeated until you remembered the video. You quote retweeted the reporter saying: "I know this is about our situation from a few hours ago in the media center. I was respectful to you all, even after hearing the disrespectful comments made about me. Hopefully next time we can discuss this like adults and not subtweet as if we are teenagers. Have a great night." You also included the video because you knew you wouldn't be believed based on your words alone. You were over being nice, but you knew the game you were playing.
You watched for years as Lewis had to deal with being the only Black man in the paddock and wondered how he did it. They threw crap his way, but he kept moving and succeeding. Today, it finally hit you because you were experiencing it. You weren't comparing the severity of his experiences with yours, but understanding it clearer because it's now happening to you. You had no friends in the paddock. It was officially just business to you. Whatever crap they threw your way, you'd keep moving and succeeding.
You were finally calling it a night. You'd worry about the reaction in the morning.
As you went to lock your phone, you got a notification: "Lewis Hamilton liked your tweet."

Thank you for reblogging all those posts about the Israeli genocide on Palestinian people. Idk what ethnicity you are but as a middle eastern girl I really appreciate your efforts in spreading information and taking no bullshit from zionists or racists. That said, I’m crypto, so whatever good posts of yours I see, I reblog from op instead (sorry), but I wanted you to know that there’s people like me out there who really appreciate everything you post here, although it may not be visible to you (literally, in your notifs). I’m also very disappointed to see how many on radblr blatantly support (or at least doesn’t take a stand against) literal ethnic cleansing of Palestinian civilians. Luckily it’s none that I follow, but I’m sad to see that kind of stuff floating around on very familiar blogs. But I guess that shows what kind of women (white) their radical feminism advocates for idk I truly wish there were more colored/black women on radblr (if you have any usernames pls drop them I wanna follow)
Sorry if this is kinda out of nowhere, but I’ve been thinking that everything you’ve done/seen/ must’ve taken a bit of a mental toll on you (I know it has on me, it’s so frustrating to see all the blatant propaganda and bigotry on social media), so I just wanted to send an encouraging message, to let you know that I value what you do and say!!
thank you so much ❤️ i’m white but i’m australian so colonisation and oppression & genocide of indigenous people is a very important topic to me. my whole family has always supported palestine and what’s happening there has been something i’ve been watching since i was a teenager. that’s okay that you can’t reblog straight from me lol i appreciate the message 💕 unfortunately i just follow a few radfems and don’t really know what race anyone is besides @menalez but ummmm FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸🇵🇸

A priest with a gun sets the scene in TV’s newest ‘whydunit’
Tumblr media

The story starts with a bang. A priest in his white and purple robes strides out of a country-town church with a rifle – yes, a priest with a rifle – and starts shooting parishioners, leaving five of them dead. Father Byron Swift is then himself shot dead in self-defence by the local copper. Thus begins the saga of Scrublands, a new mini-series set in regional Australia – and obviously there’s no mystery about whodunit.

In fact, at first there’s no mystery about anything at all. The priest had recently been accused of paedophilia, and the official explanation is that he got himself killed rather than face up to the crime. But then, a year later, burnt-out Sydney Morning Herald journalist Martin Scarsden arrives in town to write a perfunctory story about how the town is faring 12 months on, and starts to smell a rat.
Based on former journalist Chris Hammer’s best-selling novel of the same name, Scrublands is a thriller set in a remote country town, Riversend, which has been battered by years of drought, fire and flood, is reeling from a terrible act of violence, and harbours a profound distrust of outsiders generally, and anyone in the media specifically.
Producer David Redman, whose credits include Charlie & Boots and Strange Bedfellows, says distilling the novel, a whydunit rather than a whodunit, into a four-part series is no mean feat. “It’s amazing how much story you can tell in four episodes,” he says. “It’s pacy. No one’s going to fall asleep in this one, particularly not after the opening scene. It’s such an iconic and unusual way to start, as far as making sure you have an engaged, attentive audience.”
Writer Felicity Packard (Underbelly, Janet King) agrees. “The opening scene is pretty much what takes place in the novel. That’s a really powerful way to start. You’re not hiding your light under a bushel, it’s right up there in episode one, scene one.”

Director Greg McLean has form when it comes to filming Australian crime drama. His CV includes the legendary outback horror flick Wolf Creek. Packard enthuses about his vision. “He has such a strong idea of what he’s doing. He’s already got the edit in his head, so he know what he’s shooting for. He doesn’t just shoot the shit out of things, he knows what he wants.”
The story revolves around two men, the charismatic and dedicated but mysterious priest Byron, played by Jay Ryan (The Creamerie, Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake) and the jaded, frustrated journalist Martin, played by Luke Arnold (Michael Hutchence in INXS biopic Never Tear Us Apart). Linking the two is Mandy Bond, played by Bella Heathcote (The Man in the High Castle, Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows), the beguiling owner of the local bookstore-cafe who has a few secrets of her own.
Tumblr media

It was McLean who introduced Heathcote to the project. “I’d worked with him on Bloom [with Bryan Brown and Jacki Weaver] a couple of years ago and he and I were going to do another project together and that didn’t happen sadly, and he said, ‘I’ve got this other great project.’ He sent me the first two episodes, and I was hooked, I wanted to know what happened next.”
Heathcote’s character, who had studied at uni in Melbourne before returning to look after her dying mother, fascinated the actor. “Mandy just seems so tough and cool. No bullshit, the way she carries herself through life, the way she interacts with people in the town. I just really admired her. So often she has those quips I wish I had in any given situation!”
Instinctively playing her cards close to her chest, Mandy has to decide if she can trust the journalist who’s just shown up in town. Martin, meanwhile, is reassessing his commitment to unearthing the truth after an investigative story that spun horribly out of control.
“Martin is someone who was jet setting around the world righting wrongs, bringing justice to the world,” Arnold says. “This truth is so important that you know, if I’m going to hurt a few people along the way, it’s worth it if the story gets out.”
“There’s been the tragedy of a massacre happening here and the media stomping around, and is Martin going to contribute to that, or through setting the story straight can he help give this town a new future?”
The other main character in the story is the fictional town of Riversend. Film crews worked on location around Maldon, near Bendigo, and at the more remote Nyah West, up in the Mallee. “The advantage we have over the book is we can show things,” says Redman. “So visually, I don’t know if it’s literally a thousand words per image but we are definitely able to express the sense of isolation very quickly through what we show.”
The town author Chris Hammer created is inherently cinematic, Arnold says. “The idea of the kind of isolated town that was really wrecked by the event, picking up the pieces, so lent itself to screen”, Arnold says. “These key moments, these key locations, the bookstore-cafe being the centrepiece for a bit of romance.
“This was a beautiful country town, there was the chance for a flourishing community, but what happens when a town gets tarred with this, all people now think of when they hear Riversend is this awful massacre. If you’re a business owner, if you’re a local, if your family has grown up here what does this do to yourself, your future, your investment in your community and your family?”
There’s always the temptation, Redman says, to make films in studios, citing his movies Charlie and Boots and Strange Bedfellows, both starring Paul Hogan, as examples that benefited hugely from breaking out and working on location. On this production, recent floods gave them plenty of detail to work with. “In Baringhup [near Maldon] there was a caravan park we were using for some of the scenes. In October last year it was 2 metres under water so all the caravans were ruined, these were people’s houses. We could’ve created that visually on a backlot somewhere, but you wouldn’t have got the same feeling that these are people’s homes.”
Also, filming on location can produce moments of visual serendipity. Packard recalls a scene where Martin is talking to the sympathetic local cop Robbie (played by Adam Zwar). “At the end of the scene Robbie’s left sitting on a park bench. Greg McLean didn’t call ‘cut’ straight away, just waited to see what the actors might do. The actors didn’t do anything, but a flock of 200 corellas came swooping down and circled around him and then took off. The whole crew just gasped.”
With its dramatic scenery and the increasingly murky activities of the townsfolk, the series has all the hallmarks of an Australian thriller, but still, the heroes, villains and victims of this tale are not the usual suspects. “There’s an awful lot of stories about young women being killed,” says Packard. ”Not that it’s great to see five men being shot dead, but we’re doing something quite different there, it’s a different sort of crime.”
Scrublands premieres on Stan on November 16.

July 2023 Wrap-up: 1960s
(You can read more about the challenge on my post introducing the challenge. Basically, Reading Through the Decades is a year-long reading challenge where we read books - and explore other media - from the 1900s to the 2020s, decade-by-decade.)
Super late with the July wrap-up, but here it is at last!
What I Enjoyed This Month
Tumblr media
📖 Picnic at Hanging Rock (1967), Joan Lindsay -> In 1900, a group of female students at an Australian girls' boarding school vanish at Hanging Rock while on a Valentine's Day picnic, causing varying effects on the school and local community. -> I watched the fantastic, queer 2018 mini-series (starring Natalie Dormer!) earlier this year and absolutely fell in love! So I knew I had to read the original novel as soon as possible. Since the book is written in the 60s, I decided to read it this month. I might prefer the mini-series (because in it, the themes of queerness are much more explicit and central) but the novel definitely holds its own, too.
🎬 Flickorna (1968; The Girls), dir. Mai Zetterling -> A feminist reinvention of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes: Three actresses prepare to go on the road in a theater production of the classic play about women and war. As the women re-assess and deal with the problems in their respective private lives, they recognize the parallels with the play and begin to realize that it is serious - even tragic - after all. -> Very 60s, very awesome. I love watching older movies that centre women and feminist themes. This is definitely a very inventive and experimental - even surrealist - film.
📖 SCUM Manifesto (1967), Valerie Solanas -> A radical feminist manifesto that argues that men have ruined the world, which women have to fix by forming SCUM, an organization dedicated to overthrowing society and eliminating the male sex. The manifesto was little-known until Solanas attempted to murder Andy Warhol in 1968. -> I don't really know what to say about this. Mostly, the manifesto is filled with absurd bullshit - I don't fuck with violence, I emphatically don't think killing is the solution to anything, and radical feminism is definitely not the brand of feminism for me. That said, the manifesto is also hilarious as fuck: the manifesto totally flips the age-old "women are inferior" dynamic from Western, patriarchal philosophy and theory around, so yielding the manifesto up to an interpretation as a delicious satire. (Unfortunately, it seems that Solanas did not write the manifesto for irony and satire's sake.)
Tumblr media
🎬 Victim (1961), dir. Basil Dearden -> A British neo-noir suspense film about a closeted lawyer who risks his career to bring a blackmailer to justice. The film is credited as being the first British film to explicitly name homosexuality and deal with it sympathetically. -> I am not the biggest neo-noir fan, but I very much enjoyed this one. I love a good queer classic!
🎬 Midnight Cowboy (1969), dir. John Schlesinger -> A naive hustler travels from Texas to New York City to seek personal fortune, in the process befriending a scrounging, sleazy small-time con man with big dreams. -> Another queer(?) classic! Idk, I really like watching movies about drifters and down-on-their-luck people struggling onwards in life and maybe finding some modicum of companionship in each other.
🎬 Stonewall (1995), dir. Nigel Finch -> A historical comedy-drama film that gives a fictionalized account of the weeks leading up to the Stonewall riots, a seminal event in the modern American gay rights movement. The main story follows a cross-dressing sex worker who meets a young gay man, freshly arrived in NYC. -> There was a horribly disappointing Stonewall movie made more recently in 2015 - forget about that shit and watch this one instead! This film actually centres cross-dressers, trans women, and queer politics while also incorporating humour, a love story, and several lip-synch numbers!

Names I'd like to have more in media for metaphorical reasons
Disclaimer: I'm doing this out of the back of my head, so don't come after me. I'm not an expert in anything and I might have a different interpretation of the story. Do your own research.
Eve/ Eva/ Ewa
Christian/Jewish
The first human woman, she was banished from paradise because she was curious.
For those who were punished for curiosity
2. Adam/ Edim/ Edam
Christian/ Jewish
The first human man, he was banished from paradise because he trusted Eve
For those who blindly trusted the ones they love
3. Pandora
Greek
The first human (woman), she was gifted with a jar, that she was told to never open. She did it anyways (because she was so curious what is in the jar) and released all bad spirits (violence, war, famine, illnesses etc.) onto this world. She now has to guard the jar, which contains only one spirit: Hope
For those who brought evil into this world, without meaning to
For those who bring hope
4. Seth
Egyptian
Everyone hated Seth because he was the god of the dessert. So he killed his brother Osiris (the current king) to get the throne, the rule over the people who ignored him all those years.
For those who were always dismissed
For those who gave themself justice (or revenge)
5. Gnowee
Wotjobaluk (Native Australian)
Personification of the sun. She once was a mortal woman, who lived in darkness on earth and people only could move with the aid of bark torches. One day she left her little son sleeping while she tried to look for food. As she tried to go back, she couldn't find her son. So she climbed the sky to look for him, but she will never find him.
For those who never give up
For those who will do everything for their children
6. Israel
Jewish
His "Christian" old name was Jacob. He went to the desert, fought against God and won. So he got a new name (Israel) wich means: He who fought God
For those who fight against something bigger than themself
7. Hestia
Greek
She is the oldest Olympian Godess and the Godess of family. Her siblings all have petty (all of time), but she always tries to negotiate between her family
For those who are for peace
8. Romolus
Roman
He founded Rome with his brother Remus. When Remus did something against Roman Law, Romolus killed his own twin.
For those who are so obsessed with rules that they sign their own doom
9. Lorelei
German
She was like a siren but kind of different. Lorelei was the daughter of a river (the Rhein, if I remember correctly) and always sat naked at her father's side, because he promised to protect her or sm. So when sailors saw the beautiful Lorelei and wanted to get to her, her father Rhein always drowned said sailors.
For those who get a lot of bullshit from men
Those who don't do anything wrong, but always get wronged
10. Atlas
Greek/Roman
He is forced to carry the sky until eternity.
For those who are doomed with a task that will ultimately destroy them
I may do a part two in the future. Stay tuned.

4) Talk To Me
Tumblr media
yes yes yES now THIS is HORROR
let me in is this perfect fucking blend of "doing something expected really, really well" and "doing something goddamn unique" that is hard to land but when it lands (like this does) it lands in a goddamn three point superhero pose with a whole-ass dustcloud godDAMN this was GOOD
SO
let me in is about a group of australian kids who have a ceramic hand that, when you light a candle and hold it, lets you see the dead. and if you say "i invite you in" you get to be possessed by the dead, for up to 90 seconds (any longer than that is unsafe). and that's it that's the movie
just jokes lol that's NOT IT at ALL it's SO MUCH MORE
SO
it's so hard to thread the needle of "teenagers partying is the source of a horror thing" without landing in "moralizing bullshit" but this does it. like, getting possessed is absolutely akin to getting high, but also it's like, a social media thing, it's like two kinds of high at once. and yet the movie doesn't get mad about this. it gets mad about people breaking the damn rules. about partying unsafely
and it does it in this fucking gorgeous way. and horrifying. did i say horrifying? i shoulda said horrifying a lot more times than i have. it's such a perfect fuckin scary movie, and it sticks its landing so goddamn well, and ah. AH. sorry skinamarink, talk to me is currently sitting in my "this might be my favorite movie of the month" zone. fuck.
and i knew it was australian, but i didn't know it was gonna be THIS australian, and before i even knew i was watching this tonight, i made barramundi with mashed spuds and peas, which is a VERY australian meal, and i guess something about the food and the film coalesced into this gorgeous fuckin' ray of nostalgic light, because this absolutely horrifying horrible horror movie of horror made me feel so goddamn warm and cozy
and that ENDING. WHEW
hey y'all? if you trust my movie opinions (and you should, they're objectively the best ones of all) pleaaaaase watch Talk To Me. it's GREAT
1. skinamarink | 2. smile | 3. the black phone

thomas weatherall + he/him + cis male – have you seen casey rutherford around los angeles? the twenty three year old is usually jamming to owner of a lonely heart by yes. word around the city is that they’re intelligent, yet, they can also be blunt, but you didn’t hear that from me. they’re currently an author and are typically seen walking the streets of los angeles with a dark roast coffee. when i think of them, i think of restless nights overworking and trying to write, being forced to become an adult when he was just a kid, blunt replies because he has no time for people’s bullshit. let’s hope the city treats them good!
subplot #11
muse t is an aspiring writer who grew up in a low income and broken household, having to work two jobs while going to school to help their family make ends meet. muse u is a nepo baby who has had everything handed to them on a golden platter. muse t and muse u cross paths at a prestigious university muse t got a scholarship for. muse t, surprisingly, has no idea who muse u is, despite their family name. regardless, they don’t hit it off right away, having more differences than anything, but, muse u manages to worm their way into muse t’s heart until eventually, they start dating. with little explanation, one day, muse u leaves, refusing to answer muse t’s texts. muse t, after a lot of hard work and dedication, manages to get their first book published and continues to work on upcoming stories they have in mind. somehow, the tabloids ends up finding out that muse t and muse u dated, which gives muse t a ton of media attention they never asked for, their book suddenly selling like hotcakes. up until then, muse t had no idea muse u was famous, and instead of being thankful for the attention they’re receiving for dating muse u, muse t can’t help but feel angry and bitter over the situation. a book they’ve worked so hard to get published, appears to only be getting attention because muse t was muse u’s lover once upon a time. muse t can’t help but feel cheated for their lives work, as they want to be recognized for their effort and dedication to literature, not for someone they previously went out with. muse t - taken by casey rutherford ( thomas weatherall fc ) muse u - taken by alyxine lee ( felix lee fc )
basic stats ;
⟶ full name: casey anthony rutherford  ⟶ nicknames: usually just goes by casey  ⟶ three things he likes: vegan dishes, australian accents, dreamcatchers ⟶ three things he dislikes: hospitals, his father, the idea of anyone bullying his little brother ⟶ gender: cis male ⟶ height: 5 ‘ 9 ⟶ age: 23 ⟶ birthday: february 14, 2000  ⟶ zodiac: aquarius sun, virgo moon, capricorn ascendant   ⟶ right handed or left handed: right handed   ⟶ eye color: dark brown ⟶ hair color: black ⟶ piercings and tattoos: no piercings, a tattoo of the name ‘lukas’ on his left wrist ( little brother’s name ) ⟶ languages spoken: english and spanish ⟶ sexuality / romantic orientation: bisexual / biromantic ⟶ place of birth: brisbane, australia ⟶ last five songs listened to: change ( in the house of flies ) by deftones, stand by me by oasis, lesser things by barcelona, broken by lund, stadium arcadium by red hot chili peppers ⟶ five aesthetics: restless nights attempting to write, a coaster with coffee stains, a blunt mouth, the best kind of hugs when he’s in the mood, warm vegan cupcakes ⟶ character inspo: felix weston from love victor, maeve wiley from sex education, malakai mitchell from heartbreak high
background story ;
✘ casey was the first born son of corey rutherford and amara peterson in brisbane, an accident if you must, as his parents never intended to have him. his mother lived in the united states, but was in australia visiting some relatives when she met corey. one thing lead to another, and nine months later, casey came along
✘ his mother was infatuated with his father, while his father liked his mother, but not in the way that she liked him. regardless, his family forced him to marry amara to give casey a ‘stable’ life, but it was anything but that
✘ growing up, casey really loved his mother. the same thing couldn’t be said for his father. from a fairly young age, he got the feeling that his father considered him the reason that he was ‘forced’ to stay with his mother, treated him like garbage, making casey strongly dislike him from early on
✘ he was emotionally abusive, to him and to his mother. casey didn’t know why she stayed with him. things were cool when it was just him and his mother, but as soon as his father came along, the vibe shifted
✘ things only worsened when amara became pregnant again, with casey’s little brother, lukas, who was five years younger than casey. from that moment on, casey was determined to defend his little brother from whatever emotional abuse his father could even think to throw at him, but when lukas grew a little older, they knew that he was different. he didn’t like to talk much and whenever he did, it was avoiding eye contact. he didn’t like to be touched often, he had melt downs, and well, after several tests and doctor visits later, lukas was diagnosed with autism
✘ from that moment on, things drastically changed. his father didn’t know how to handle the news and ended up leaving. his mother didn’t have much in australia without him, so she moved back to las vegas with casey and lukas when casey was ten and lukas was five, where thankfully, lukas got the treatment he deserved
✘ casey thought this move was for the better, but things only seemed to worsen from that moment on. his mother was severely depressed over what his father did, and on some days, refused to even get out of bed
✘ casey was forced to become an adult when he was just a kid himself. clean up the house, look after his little brother and mother, it was really hard for him, and as much as he loved his mother, she only added onto the baggage he felt obligated to carry
✘ as soon as he was old enough, he had a job, eventually two, one being remote. between going to school, working, and practically being the parent in the house, he always lacked sleep, he was always tired, but he swears, he worked harder than anyone his age, it’s not like he had a choice
✘ casey is, thankfully, very gifted when it comes to academics, a very intelligent guy who was top of his class and shooting for scholarships, but it was still a lot to deal with, and soon enough, he was finding ways to try and stay up. coffee only worked for so long, even strong shots of espresso became nothing to him. through this desire to try and stay awake during long shifts and school, well, this… this is how he discovered the ‘wonders’ of adderall, through one of his classmates who would sell his prescription to make an extra buck. casey soon realized that it worked perfectly for his dilemma, it kept him going for ages
✘ so this is how he became a frequent customer. it was an unhealthy habit of red bull, adderall, under eating, not sleeping, repeat – he was practically a zombie at one point. this went on for a while. a little over a year of this unhealthy cycle is when it caught up to him, in the worst possible way
✘ ! tws for hospitals, eating disorders and stroke ! to be clear, he can’t recall a lot of what happened beforehand. the headache, the dimness in his vision, soon followed by him passing out, are all very faint memories in his head. the thing casey remembers most is waking up in a hospital, and being informed that he had a stroke… a stroke. he was also told he had malnutrition and was underweight, which was most likely linked to an eating disorder and his abuse of adderall, but he didn’t hear anything else, all he heard was stroke. frankly, he didn’t even think someone his age could have a stroke, it was all really scary news for him. this happened two months before his graduation, and thankfully, he had all the credits needed before this, but he still had to finish school virtually
✘ the aftermath of it all is what sucked the most for him. the therapies, medications and countless check ups even though he swears, he felt fine, the way his family was treating him like he was made of paper or something, even his grandmother, aka his mother’s mother, got involved, which was a huge mess because all she did was blame his mother for dumping all of their problems on casey and causing everything. long story short, but his grandmother didn’t think his mother was mentally well enough to take care of casey and lukas, which wasn’t exactly a lie. right after casey’s graduation, they moved with her to her house in los angeles, which his mother didn’t even fight her on, claiming she had to work on herself
✘ and as much as he didn’t want to admit it because a part of him really missed his mother and he didn’t blame her for what happened, well… casey really liked california, even though he wanted to hate it. he felt a lot calmer there, he wasn’t constantly stressed over taking care of his little brother, or his mother, and still finding a way to make ends meet, he was done with high school, eighteen, had everything in his favor. he had applied to plenty of school’s in california and managed to get accepted to three of them, obviously choosing the best option of the three
✘ this is where casey ends up meeting someone he would soon date, who, he doesn't really like at first, but eventually ends up falling for, just to get his heart broken. truthfully, isn’t even aware that they’re ‘famous’ when they actually date, which, comes as a shock to him later on
✘ casey ends up majoring in literature because he wants to be a writer, even if it won’t make him much money in the long run. he really had no intention of ever going into the spotlight. he just wanted to write and hopefully one day, publish a book. he didn’t care if he made it to the best seller’s list or not, he just wanted to do something he was passionate about and stay under the radar
✘ eventually, he finally publishes his first book, heart shaped box ( literally his pride and joy, a horror novel he’s been working on for over three years ), he only made an okayish following on social media when his book hit new york’s best seller list, with most of his followers being book nerds, which, he was okay with. anyways, long story short, but that under the radar shit doesn’t end up happening when people end up finding out who his ex is. suddenly, he starts getting all this attention because they used to date, which just deeply annoys casey. he feels like he’s worked so hard to even get his first book published, and instead of being only recognized for that, he gets recognized for someone he dated, who he feels actually screwed him over. literally… wants to stab himself with a fork
✘ he’s been working on another novel, and a comic book, illustrated by his little brother, that he has hopes of finishing and hopefully releasing one or the other by next year. now the question is, will people soon enough recognize him for his talent in literature, or will he forever be known as ‘that one persons’ ex boyfriend’?
headcanons ;
✘ he’s a vegan! became one about five months after he had a stroke and has never looked back. his health has gotten a lot better since then, been a vegan for over four years already
✘ casey really doesn’t like entitled people who have just had stuff handed to them and never had to work for anything, so basically… most nepo babies let’s be real. he’s had to work really hard for every accomplishment in his life. even getting his book published was hard as hell, and then lots of people recognize him for someone he dated rather than his hard work, which really, really makes him angry
✘ he isn’t a mean guy, he can be really patient and kind and understanding, but he can be very blunt sometimes. if you get him to a certain level of angry, he can literally be the worst person ever. he’s nice, sure, but if you’re a mean or manipulative person, he see’s right through that shit
✘ he writes about anything. romance, science fiction, fantasy, but his favorite genre is fantasy and horror based. his career claim is similar to joe hill, and his upcoming comic book will basically be the first comic of the ‘locke & key’ series, basically joe hill but modern day
✘ he doesn’t tell people he had a stroke. mostly because he doesn’t want sympathy, but also because he wants to make a new life here. no one really knows about his life in las vegas. no one really knows about his life before he was eighteen and he likes it that way
✘ doesn’t do much besides occasionally smoke weed ( boring boy i guess ), mostly out of health but also because of fear over what happened to him. he'll drink on occasion, but he's a lightweight, it's actually embarrassing, obviously would never go to serious drugs because that incident he went through scarred him
✘ he see’s his little brother frequently, he’s literally the illustrator of the comics he plans on publishing. he has a really big soft spot for little kids, especially if they have special needs. he would probably be an amazing dad if he ever decides to go that route
✘ he loves music, especially old school music. the idea for heart shaped box literally came to him when he was listening to heart shaped box by nirvana. he has a very old soul, literally owns a type writer and a vinyl player
✘ he has a female dog named opal, named after his favorite australian stone, opal. the dog is a goldendoodle, he loves this dog with his entire heart, she is two
✘ he has dual citizenship, australian and american. casey learned spanish while living in southern cali, actually speaks it fairly well, little to no accent
wanted connections ;
heart shaped box lover: a book lover or horror fanatic who liked his novel and just wants to be his friend, a wholesome connection
it’s meant to be, look, we’re both vegans!: simply put, a fellow vegan. watch them go to vegan restaurants together and let each other know about the hottest vegan spots
not your biggest fan: someone who doesn’t like him. could be because they think he’s boring, because they think his book sucked or because they just don’t like him, i’m open to it all
dog sitters: someone who walks their dog at the exact same time as he does, and they’ve just bonded over their pets, bonus if their dogs really like each other
devil on my shoulder: a bad influence, or at least, tries to be because he isn’t easily convinced. a muse who just wants him to let loose
former college friends: someone he went to college with, they could be friends or not
…perhaps something more?: maybe friends with benefits, one night stands, something that could be potentially romantic?
or we can brainstorm!

Can we stop with the whole 'im trying to be historically accurate' excuse with playing fictional characters being racist that force oppressed groups to relive racism through their favorite media? can we fucking stop this please, youre not being """fun"""
Oh I'm not trying to be fun, I'm playing the character historically accurate, asshole(if you're the one to also wish me fate worse than death).
Ooh, oh no, I'm an Australian and that means my ancestors were political criminals exiled by British like some centuries ago and thus every time I hear mentions of exilement and colonization that hurt me sensitive teeny weeny feelings, boo hoo... Europeans, behave with me delicately and never remind me of colonies, or else you're a fukken opressive imperialists, and I will sue you!
Bullshit. That all shit is a social manipulation construct, used to lobby solely interests of "the offended" social groups. Taking the privileges to yourselves is not equality, ya libtard brain fuck, that's usurpation and power shift. If you fight for equality, just stop being pissed at what was many years ago, like we, "Aryans", do and get a normal life, mate. Anyone is welcome to be a conscientious part of the society, in my opinion, but if you're constantly bitching and demanding extra rights while being the most dangerous and useless group by statistics, who would have guessed, not all would be content with that. If you think I'm such a racist, no. Fuck the white delinquents and marginal elements too.
Anyway, look. I am not among those who will safeguard any delusions, and that's what I am. That is not illegal, at least in Australia, that is not extremist, but, mate. That's the harsh truth, the history. You're welcome to speak it of my people, if it is really true and I will listen to you. I am well aware everyone has flaws, except for princess Azula and, in fact, understanding the past better to become better in future is really useful, try it sometimes.

The Rat Pack is so much fun.
Will Cade co-founded and co-owns a video game company. He is an artist with a million sketchbooks he will never fill. He has a gym membership and regularly works out. He knows fashion and how to dress himself. He is an openly proud gay man.
He also has the ability to turn into a giant fucking rat. His mother is a Hollywood starlet with a Buzzfeed Unsolvable Death. He regularly dumpster dives because he smelt a limited edition figurine from miles away. He fell in love with an anti-government Australian man who hurls Malatov cocktails. He only scored a date because he paid for his future daughter-in-law's transitional surgery.
Issac Kraft co-founded and co-owns a video game company. He is a self-taught programmer and has invented an entirely new game console. He is an openly proud aromantic man. He is the son of another Hollywood starlet who survived the industry. He knows how to dress himself. He has broken many keyboards.
He also told an interviewer that his type in women was 'an atm'. That game console he invented? He uses it to control his other inventions. He created little robotic bugs he calls 'his ticks', and has made them climb into atms and short-circuit them. He died one time. He became the champion of a god long thought dead.
Marianna Guerra Ramiro is a co-owner of a video game company. She has a business degree. She frequents gay clubs and is well known there. She runs their social media account and make sures they have good publicity. She is openly proud bisexual woman.
She flirted with a guy and was embarrassed upon finding out he was gay, only to find he was the one who was interviewing her for the job she applied for. A chip was injected into her brain and now she is completely hooked up to the internet at all times. She can legitimately take a screenshot with her body. She is dating a demon, not that she knew she was a demon, but a demon.
Will's biggest rival is a demon who just fucking hates him. They have been served copy infringement papers by an international mob boss. They use to be part of a galactic hero network. They are all just trying to run a game company, but keep getting blocked by random hero bullshit.

California would be the happiest place on earth if Fox News and right wing/christian extremist media did not exist. Like, go outside. Its fuckin awesome here, the weather is great, so why are you scared or mad? Oh right, you were BORED and started consuming a media station that lies about being news (Reminder Fox News is not legally allowed to call itself a news station, but European/American right wing money just keeps paying the penalties for the right wing extremist Rupert Murdoch, a non-Jewish person who controls more media than all Jewish people combined) and started seeing like ONE case of the bullshit they manufacture outrage you about daily, because theres 40 million people here, which is normal, and that is all you need to start ignoring whats in front of you? (which you CAN do, with homelessness, but not for anything else?)
The right wing media always ignore states who have much worse crime/lifestyle/economy in favor of shitting on California for any possible reason, so now locals who fall victim to Fox News' very successful method of reptition, now think this warped reality is their actual reality. This I expect is causing many issues when they go outside and see absolutely nothing that is going against the normal "California vibe" which should clue them in to stop watching Fox News or any right wing media.
The USA's "Big Lie" isnt singular but many. The USA's media and press relentlessly mislead and lie about California and have for centuries. "Earthqakes though!" is a great example. More people died in 2012 in NYC during Sandy than people who have died in California earthquakes over the last 70(!) years. 70 years = 2 days. Make it make sense, or stop fucking lying about California, you're even polluting local Californians, forcing them via propaganda to believe differently to whats happening in front of their eyes. To believe someone who isnt inside the state/country over your own eyes means there's something very wrong happening with your mind. Fox News has done absolutely nothing but destroy and de-unify America. A non-American literally pulled up and said "You know what? America NEEDS a right wing 24 hour media company" and we have been fucked by this psychotic Australian human shitstain since October 7, 1996, with California in their sights since day one. Be aware of Fox and relentlessly rally against their awful existence, or fall victim to their propaganda.
