My 2023 Bullet Journal Set Up

I've had this finished for a couple days but I can't stop wanting to share it so... Here goes:

My future log is split over three pages. I've done the little leaf dividers in all four of my previous bujos, and I really like them bc otherwise I feel like it's very utilitarian. I am trying to decide if I should decorate the months like I usually do (on/around the text I usually do a little doodle--January is snowflakes, May is roses, December is holly, etc) so idk let me know what you think I guess?

Trying a few new things this year: I watched like a million 2023 set up videos on YouTube and saw a couple 23 23s in 2023 spreads, and while I've done level 10 life the last couple years I didn't feel like it's really working for me so I decided to try 23 23s instead. (If you want to know what my 23 things are, I have them figured out now but it took me ages.) I've also included a 2023 cover page, which is a piece of cardstock I taped in. Not pictured are the back of it and the page underneath; taped to the back of the cover page is a letter to myself for 2024, and opposite is my word of the year: assured.

The next two pages are my period tracker (a new inclusion in the start of year set up, as I usually leave it to later in the year, as a collection between January or February weeks. I also set up a wishlist and gift list, which I usually leave to sometime in October-December but figured I'd go ahead and include it up front this year. My last page is a budget spread, which I've never used before but I'd really like to get into budgeting as I like become more of an adult, so my first step is going to be tracking my monthly income and expenses here. I also have a monthly envelope for monthly expense tracking and like receipts and things, but I don't really know how it's going to work for me because I've never used anything before.

And that's my start of year set up! I'm using a leuchtturm 1917 with 120 gsm paper, which is new bc normally I just use a normal 1917. I wanted thicker paper this year but I love the features of the leuchtturm so this was a good compromise for me. I also got some new pens for Christmas, which I used lots in my set up too. And I'm loving using my journal already, so hopefully that keeps up too. Here's to a great 2023!

My April #expensestracker

When, what, where, how. The date, the type of transaction, where it happened, and how much. The green dot is next to every source of income, blue dot next to cash so I can see the actual money moving. Everything else is credit cards.

The third column is where the money went/came from and the final column is the amount with a plus, minus, or neutral affect on my chequing account. So if its on credit and I haven't actually spent the money yet, its not a minus.

I am also tracking how much I spend on food and gas and these transactions have a symbol next to them. G for gas and an orange line for food.

My no spend challenge is dependent on the expense page, i only have a limited amount of lines in that section.

The habits include study no spend, study everyday (languages and school) and write.

Bullet Journal #8 - Jun 2019

Ah yes, the pride month. I wanted to give a very sweet and colorful vibe, and I actually love the results, because the excess of colors and doodles don't seem too much when the layout itself is this simple, just a line instead of a box and the day of the week written as if the letters were ice cream. I love the cover and back cover as well.

You can see the mood and expenses tracker. Every inch of the drawing was painted according to the colors matching the mood I was feeling.

As I say in all notes about my Bullet Journal: I started bullet journaling much younger, but I always wanted to do something capable of competing with the beauty of the BuJos in pinterest, youtube, tumblr and instagram. Without the aesthetic, I lacked the motivation to make of it anything besides a simple journal, that reverted to plain text with time. At the end of 2018, I became determined and started setting up the journal and planning the entirety of it, hours and hours of deciding styles, learning lettering, planning the layout of each month and page... And I was able to draw all the pages required for the trackers of the entire year and the monthly planners up until July. And I was really satisfied with it, so of course I didn't give up on the rest of the year. And in 2020, I'm going to keep a bullet journal as well, and this year I'm trying something to make it even more interesting: every pair of pages as a different theme. That way, I will have the opportunity to try every single layout, theme, art style or wtv I wish without being bored by the repetition. I'm sharing some photos of the results - with the text blurred, of course.

an expense/budget tracker for the new year - very important! i don’t wanna end up on the streets 😂 again, keeping it simple.

i didn’t know what to do with the left page so thankfully my friend gave me a nice quote and leaving it just “blank” is too boring, so i added a tiny drawing and a few sparkly stars.
