So im making a rottmnt insect au. I've made donnie. He is a mason bee. He so pretty!!
So pretty. I tried do a iridescent type design on the anttenas and tail...I don't think i did it to well but I like it. Leo is gonna be a dragon fly, mikey a traverse ladybird, and raph a type of beetle I was thinking between a june beetle or a stag beetle.
i decided to move up to a larger canvas for this one, and i think it drastically upped the quality! i love scarabs, so this was a treat to be able to draw. for reference, i looked at the Anachalcos convexus, or the plum dung beetle, as a reference, along with other patterned beetles for the markings. I decided to alter the gold markings to be a little more natural while still showing the kind of spiral pattern that a lot of the skyward sword bugs share!
my goal is to kind of reflect the design qualities used in breath of the wild's bugs, somewhere between naturalistic and fantastical.
'bug' can mean a small insect or entemologically "an insect of a large order distinguished by having mouthparts that are modified for piercing and sucking." Shrimp are not insects, so no, but both crustaceans (which shrimp are) and insects are arthropods! Arthropods are (according to Wikipedia) "Arthropods聽(/藞蓱藧r胃r蓹p蓲d/) are聽invertebrates聽in the聽phylum聽Arthropoda. They possess an聽exoskeleton聽with a聽cuticle聽made of聽chitin, often聽mineralised聽with聽calcium carbonate, a body with differentiated (metameric)聽segments, and paired jointed聽appendages. In order to keep growing, they must go through stages of聽moulting, a process by which they shed their聽exoskeleton聽to reveal a new one." Shrimp do this!!! Insects and arachnids do too :)
Scientists also think that insects wings evolved from crustaceans!! That's not really related, but you can read about it here
In short, no, shrimps are not bugs! But they are related :))
