The artstyle is pretty good, I can’t deny it. Joey’s design is beautiful, very dilf-coded. Buddy looks… young. VERY young. He’s supposed to be 17 in Dreams Come To Life but somehow manages to look 12 ? Plus, I don't know how to describe it, but he looks very...angry ? Upset ? I don't think his bubbly, awkward personality appears much in the graphic novel, with his gaze being very...severe. He just looks weird, like a 40 years old in a child body. And Norman… Deep breath. His design is…no. Absolutely NOT it. I didn’t expected much but I still managed to be disappointed. I’ll wait until we get to see Sammy and Tom (especially) before expressing what I think is wrong with these designs but… yeah. I’m so sorry, Norman.
That is the second drawing, I wanted to redraw that one scene in 'Dreams come to life' where Sammy tells Buddy to clean the ink in the supplies closet (that one scene where Sammy says for the first time "yummy delicious ink")
It is the first time Sammy appears in the book and honestly, I got so excited about that (It's not like I placed a bookmark almost everytime Sammy (or something funny) appeared in the book...)
All the essential information needed to know about TLID's main cast!
This will be updated with more characters as time goes on.
Stay tuned, toons!
(( Ophelia is my (@discobowser) OC, Ripper is @taizarack's OC! ))
These aren’t exactly for the au, just some redesigns that I thought would be fun!
(Image ID: two Borises based off the two you meet in BATIM. The left, smaller one is Buddy Boris, and the tall left one is Tom. Buddy is short and has dog characteristics, like a droopy left ear, and a bigger forehead. He wears a paperboy cap, cans of bacon soup over his arms, a carrier bag, and big pants. His right eye is an x and he holds a can in his right hand.
Tom is tall, slouchy, and has more wolf characteristics, like upright ears and a bigger snout. He wears overalls and a springy prosthetic right arm with a cartoony glove at the end of it. He also smokes a cigarette.
On the top left is the regular toon Boris, which shares traits from both of them. End ID)
SO THE DCTL GRAPHIC NOVEL PREVIEW….ITS. SOMETHING. i have some minor problems with Buddy's design but he's serviceable, and very cute! They did Miss Miller dirty. I'm not going to say anything about Norman at this time. But i have Opinions. my biggest gripe is that these designs don't even properly line up with how the characters are described in book. but ALAS.
i wanted to draw GN Buddy with my Buddy…just two little guys who look nothing alike.
Here’s a little post on the Sammy-Susie relationship after Audrey regains control of the cycle and "restores" the former employees' memories. Since Sammy led Susie directly to her doom, she probably must hate him from the bottom of her heart (or from the bottom of the tiny tiny little heart she has left)
[gameplay rant incoming] ultimately, I do like Boris and the Dark Survival for what it is, there are many things I like about it, but also a lot of things I do not. but I think the biggest pet peeve that I have is that they made Sammy a playable character rather than an enemy. I mean that's cool, I guess, but I just hate playing him and I feel like it doesn't make as much sense as him being an enemy. the fact he can't sprint irks me to no end and also when you teleport through a wall opening you just go somewhere random with another wall opening, which is a huge disadvantage when you don't know where you are or how to get back to the elevator. it's only really an advantage when you're running (or, well, walking) away from an enemy and there, by luck, just so happens to be a wall opening
besides that, I just think it wastes potential to showcase to people how threatening his character can be. it doesn't make sense to me why he'd be in Boris'/Buddy's safehouse when he uhh.. kind of is partially the reason why Buddy is there in the first place- and maybe they didn't think that through prior, but it still irks me regardless and doesn't make sense to me because Sammy is portrayed to feel like just the type of character to sacrifice almost anybody he sees to the Ink Demon and I feel like he'd make a way cooler enemy because of that. I don't know, this is all just a personal irk of mine but I just remember being extremely excited about that update and being immediately disappointed about him being a playable character and him sucking as a playable character. not as badly as playing the lost one in my opinion, but still. he'd be so much better as an enemy.
so anyways, here's my fan-made concept art of that idea of him being an enemy, that is kind of messy. uh, long rant lol my bad
