Sam kicked off his shoes and collapsed onto the couch. Bucky was quick to join him, and the cat curled up between them. “You okay, Cap?” Bucky asked and put his arm around Sam’s shoulders. “That was a rough one.”

“Banged up, tired, wanna sleep for a year.”

“Deal.”

The cat meowed between them, seeming to agree with the sentiment. Sam turned, groaning at the way his back creaked and pressed his lips to Bucky’s, feeling so blessed that he could just do that.

“We did good,” Bucky assured him against his lips. “Really good.”

They certainly had.

I felt the same way until I accidentally (not properly tagged or I wasn’t reading the tags right 🤷🏼‍♀️) stumbled across one that was actually really good / something similar happened to me once; I was 1/3 into a really good BuckyxSam fic and when it got to the spicy part, it turned out the author had decided to give Bucky a 'taco' via hydra experimentation and he and Sam end up having a whole conversation about it before they hookup. I think the author just didn't want to write m/m smut and that was the solution they came up with? IDK. I still finished the fic because it was so well written but now I'm really careful about checking the tags. 😅

I am forever thankful that Marvel took one look at Mackie and Seb's interactions on the Winter Soldier press tours and went "right, thats their characters' entire dynamics right there". Like I imagine they would have gone with something a little similar without basing it on those two directly, but that trailer was just pure them (if Seb were a liiiitle more grouchy)

Truly, whoever paired them together during The Winter Soldier press junket deserves a medal and a raise, because it led to so much goodness. :DD

     The Winter Soldier had torn off his mask and jumped off a building to escape. He didn’t know who he was but he didn’t want to go back and have this target become another faceless memory just out of reach. With his metal arm he crushed a doorknob and slipped into a house. He didn’t know where he was but he got into a small dark space and passed out. The Winter Soldier had been running since the sun was high, sirens in the background most of the day.

The kid was no older than maybe six, seven at the most. She was a tiny thing with curly dark hair and wide eyes. She looked up at Sam with those doe eyes and said something Sam would never live down.

“Hey you’re the super guy!”

Bucky, who had been watching snorted, hiding his face behind his arm.

“Yep, little miss,” he choked. “That is the super guy.”

Her eyes went wider as she looked at Bucky’s arm.

“And you’re a robot man!”

Sam’s eyes positively sparkled as he put an arm around Bucky. “She’s got us pegged Buck,” he said. “That’s our new code names - Super Guy and Robot Man.”
