You pull your dress down as you walk from your room. "I cannot believe I'm doing this." you look back at Nat, who's smirking at you. "You'll be fine, you look hot, and the guys will be all over you, just have fun."
You roll your eyes as you continue to walk. Tonight you're going to a party, which would be fine if it wasn't Tony's Valentine's Day Special. The pressure to be with someone is on, and you hate it. What's wrong with being single, after all? No one's holding you down, stopping you from having fun. It's not like you even want to date, you don't have a crush or anythi-
"Barnes' going to be there."
You immediately stop, your face dropping. "What!?"
Great, just great. You're in a short red dress about to enter a party with the hottest guy you know being able to stare, to judge. Not that you were insecure, but with Bucky, it was different. When his eyes scanned you, you felt vulnerable, naked. You hated how he could so easily make you have butterflies. "I thought you didn't like anyone?" Nat looks you up and down. That's why she picked this dress.
You cross your arms and look to the side, "You're evil." you start walking again, ignoring the giggles from Nat behind you.
When you enter the party, your stomach erupts with more butterflies than you already had before. The music wasn't slow, but it was romantic. And because it's Tony's party, it wasn't exactly PG either. Your mind flashes to images of you and Bucky dancing to it, "Stop, get yourself together." You mumble under your breath.
Nat, who quickly caught up with you, leaned close to your ear, "You go dance, I'll get us drinks." You nod and head towards the many people dancing in the middle of the room. Partners of all kinds dancing with each other. You close your eyes as you enter the chaos, take a deep breath, and smile. Have fun. You remember Nat's words. You start to dance, swaying your body lightly at first.
You laugh, opening your eyes for a moment as the music surges through your limbs. You look through the many people in front of you and meet eyes with someone, Bucky. You don't stop dancing for the moment, but when a man walks in front of you and you break eye contact, you stop moving your body.
"Dance with me?" He looks at you. You reluctantly nod and take his hand that he has reached out. He takes you into a different spot in the room and spins you around, pushing your body against his. You can't help but think of Bucky's handsome face, the way his eyes met with yours, you wish this was him and you hate yourself for it. Nat must've got lost in conversation, cause there's no way it takes this long for drinks.
He turns you around so you're facing him, he breathes on you and you can tell that this man has had a little much to drink. "Kiss me, beautiful." He slurs. "uh-"
"She's taken." you look to see Bucky, he looks from the man to you and then down to your body and back up making your nerves spike. "Then why's she dancing with me-"
"Baby! There you are, I want to dance come on!" you play it off, desperately trying to escape the situation. You push yourself into Bucky's arms and he wraps them tightly around your waist. "Let's go Doll," He glares at the man before walking away with you. Your cheeks turn pink at Bucky's hand planted on your waist.
Once you are far enough away, you start dancing with Bucky, your thoughts were coming to life and you let the music course through your body again, you and Buck being in a corner, away from most people, makes this feel much more personal than it should.
As the music transitions into another song, you speak over it, "Thank you, I don't know what I would've done in that situation."
He smiles, getting closer "You thought I was just doing that to get you away from him?" He looks to your lips before meeting your eyes again. He brings his hand to your jaw and rubs his thumb along your bottom lip, "You're taken, Doll." He leans close to your ear, "Because, you're mine."
"Bucky-" Your body freezes and you feel the hot blood rush to your cheeks. His breath makes you shudder. He kisses your jaw, "Isn't that right, princess?"
You nod, feeling him smirk against your neck as you do so, "Yes, Bucky, I'm yours..." you say the words you always wanted to say.

Summary: Bucky's in need of help once more and like always, you're there to help him, but this time you show him some of your feelings.
PART ONE
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
You hadn't been planning to follow Sam and Bucky back into whatever mess they'd gotten in. You took Bucky home and figured that would be the last you would hear and see of them for a while. After the blip, you'd managed to find a fairly peaceful life outside of being an Avenger. You'd spend your days attending therapy and checking in on Peter Parker. Oddly enough, you found comfort in listening to the boy explain his newest research and findings. Besides Happy, there wasn't anyone involved with the Avengers that had been checking on the boy.
While you might not have gotten a real job nor started back up fighting crime, you immensely enjoyed your small slice of regular life. You'd spent a majority of your time baking, cooking, and donating your time at shelters. So much of your life had been spent fighting the larger threats. Yet you'd forgotten to give to those who'd been hurt in your battle for the world.
That was why, when Sam called you once again, rambling about some explosion and a dead doctor, you told him your doors were always open to him. However, when Sam showed up with Bucky standing right behind him, you could feel your chest constricting, all your progress over the past weeks fading once more. Clearly, Bucky was the one that actually needed help.
You gave Sam a soft smile as you let Bucky in, watching for a second as Sam took off into the air. Turning around, you watched as Bucky looked around your apartment, taking everything in. Without a word, you took off into the kitchen. Bucky followed you silently and sat down when you instructed.
"So... the super-soldier ends up more injured than the human," You forced a smile out, "I'd love to hear this story."
Bucky looked up at you shyly, a slight frown on his face at your gentle teasing, "He can fly away when they swing. I can't."
"Don't worry, Jamie, I'll take care of you."
Bucky could help but smile at the old nickname that slipped from your lips as you grabbed your supplies. You asked questions, and Bucky explained everything to you. He told you all about how they'd gone after some doctor that Zemo ended up killing, and then there was an explosion and lots of fighting afterward, and that was how Bucky ended up here, sitting in your kitchen and asking for your help once again.
You finish stitching his eyebrow with ease and hand him a cold compress. Bucky remains silent as you clean up all your supplies and throw away the bloody gauze. He wants to talk. Bucky wants to say anything, really, but he can't think of what to say, and slight panic fills his body at the idea of you telling him to leave now that you're done.
"It hurts, y'know."
Your voice is soft, so soft that if it wasn't for Bucky's enhanced hearing, you know he wouldn't have heard it. However, Bucky had, and he was immediately standing up, prepared to stop whatever was hurting you. Bucky watched tears fall down your cheeks as you turned.
"It hurts to be near you, yet it's also the only time I feel whole," You choked back a sob as you spoke, "I want to hate you, but I can't. It kills me to be around you, knowing you're with that blonde girl while I sit here still waiting for you!"
Bucky's blue eyes filled with guilt as your voice raised, "(Y/n)..."
"No," You snapped, "I don't want to hear anything, Bucky. We... we were gone, and then we were back and you... you betrayed me. You left and didn't speak to me. I stayed by your side through everything but the moment Steve..." You paused, choking on your tears as your body shook with the heartache, "I had just lost everyone also, and you... you left too. Then Sam's calling me for help, and you have some eye candy... as if... as if I never meant anything."
"No, (Y/n)..."
"I mean some blonde that I've never even seen before! How long did it take to find someone, huh? Two weeks? Two months? I waited for you! I know you, and there's no way you fall in love that quick, Bucky."
"(Y/n)... please."
"No! I gave you everything, and you left me for some blonde girl, and I can't even make myself hate you for it! I still love you! And I... I can't..."
"(Y/N)--"
"You're a traitor, Bucky."
Your words seemed to strike him in the heart as he froze, his head dropping. And despite the war raging in your body, the debate of whether you should help him or leave him, you felt relief finally getting to say this. You felt a weight being lifted off your shoulders as you poured your heart out to Bucky, showing him all the pain he'd put you through.
"I'm sorry."
"The worst part is that no matter how much it hurts to be near you, I never want to leave."
"I'm sorry."
A pitiful laugh broke through your crying, breaking Bucky's heart, "I know you are. I know. But... I already forgave you."
Bucky's head lifted as your fingers placed themselves under his chin. His steel-blue eyes watched you intently, gauging every tiny movement you made as you took a deep breath. You slowly stepped into his chest and wrapped your arms around him, hugging him tightly as tears fell silently down your cheeks. The shaking of your shoulders tore Bucky to shreds as he dropped into a chair, pulling you into his chest as you sobbed.
His arms wrapped around you like a safety blanket, encasing you in all their muscle and strength, reminding you of all the times he held you like this before. After missions, when you heard about all the people you hurt, after a stressful day of training, after being heckled in public. The list was endless, and you clutched onto his shirt tightly, allowing yourself to relish in the moment of painful silence.
After seconds, minutes, hell maybe even an hour, you weren't entirely sure. You pried yourself away from Bucky and wiped underneath your eyes. A sniffle filled the air as you walked out of the kitchen, the sound of Bucky's boots alerting you that he was following you.
The door handle was cold in your hand, a welcomed grip to reality as you pulled open the door. Keeping your eyes down, you couldn't bear to see Bucky's expression as you tried to even out your breathing.
"Goodbye, Jamie."
He left silently, the sound of his boots trotting down your porch letting you know it was safe to shut the door. Like finishing a chapter, the sound of the lock clicking tore a sob from your chest. Breaking down all over again, you sank to the floor, cries echoing throughout your empty house. And as much as it destroyed you to say goodbye to Bucky... the pain of losing him and being around him, they just couldn't compare.

It wasn't real
Pairing: Bucky x reader
Posted: 04/30/2021
Word count: 2.5k
Warnings: None? Maybe a lil angst just a lel bet.
A/N: I think it might be good? Idk You let me know. But like frfr, don't just give me feedback in your mind, put it into words. Also I apparently have a thing for Bucky in a dotted apron soooo yeah.
FYI: time zone/era is open for interpretation. Bucky never became an avenger/soldat and steve isn't part of this one.
Tumblr media
The wind that blew around you was warm and sweet with the scent of freshly bloomed flowers. Perhaps it was an act of kindness from some God trying to distract you from the cold bitterness settling into your bones. Closing your eyes you conjure the very memory that left you so desolate.
The sun snuck it's way through the curtains to illuminate the room, effectively disturbing the sleep that you always seemed to be craving. Waking up is always hassle but whenever you remember that you get to spend your day with the only person who tolerates you and you him, getting out of bed is the easiest thing. Bucky is crazy and the damn boy is never in one spot for to long and he always has something to say, but you can't imagine how boring your days would be if you guys had never met. well technically if your parents had never met.
When you were a child you parents had to move to new york for business and they decided that Brooklyn was the place to be. You had been Bucky's neighbor and the first day you guys moved in his mom had dragged him over with the most delicious angel food cake that he so proudly claimed to have made mostly on his own. He just loved cooking and baking since forever, he would tell you that he just liked experimenting with foods but you knew the truth was that the boy liked to eat and didn't have the patience to wait for his mother to come home.
Only a few years after your family had moved to Brooklyn you and Bucky had already built an unbreakable bond. You guys had found a beautiful cherry tree one day when playing tag and had deemed it to be your's and Bucky's spot. Whenever you had a bad day or needed time away from the world you guys would go to the tree and just pick cherries, in the winter time you and Bucky would lay under the tree and kick the trunk so that the snow would fall from the leaves. It was the place where at only 15 years old bucky swore he would open his own Bakery and to quote him "I'm serving my ma's food my way doll, It's gonna be the next best thing to hit New York."
You were laying on the ground with your hands crossed behind your head looking up at Bucky swinging upside down from a branch when he told you all this. You felt something you had never felt before at that moment, looking up at the wild haired boy who loved to eat, loved his family, and had the most ambition you had ever heard from kids your age. Your heart felt full and your cheeks grew warm as you looked up at the same blue eyes you had know for years now, only this time you notice the way they twinkle in the sunlight and how rosy his lips are. Now 7 years laters you and Bucky were preparing to open the very bakery he promised you he'd open. Banners were beautifully strung along the walls and cute retro china was set out, ready to be filled for opening day. There was no hesitation from you when Bucky had asked you to run the bakery with him, you were excited to spend your days with the person you hoped you would spend the rest of your life with.
At around 6:30 in the morning you had arrived at the bakery but it seemed that Bucky had beat you to it. The smell of fresh angel food cake and cocoa danced up your nose as soon as you opened the door. Closing your eyes you smiled at the memories that it brought back. Moving to the back you grabbed your Disney themed apron and placed your bag and coat in its place before scurrying over to the kitchen while trying (and failing) to tie your apron. There in all his dorkiness was Bucky wiggling around to the chordettes. He knew that you loved the 50's aesthetic so he found a way to incorporate it without going overboard, by adding little trinkets, a jukebox, and even those cute little dining tables. In fact at the moment he was wearing a ruffly red polka dotted apron as he frosted some cupcakes.
Apron tied, you were finally ready to get to work. You walked up to Bucky bumping his hip as you reached for some cupcake pans, "Whatcha doin here so early Buck, we don't open until 12" he looks at you with squinted eyes, "The hell are you doing here so early." "Woah, woah, woah completely unprovoked. I'm just saying cuz' you were the one complaining about the opening time being set at 8. Like damn." Breathing out a huff of air he wipes his forehead with a towel "I'm sorry doll, I'm just super nervous and I couldn't sleep so I came to start baking things. I already frosted the ice cream cakes and I just finished the pies, but I was thinking that maybe we needed some cupcakes too, even though we already baked so many pastries and stuff last night I'm worried it won't be enough."
Setting down the trays you move to hug Bucky from behind holding him close to you. "Buck I know we'll do great your food is too good to pass up on especially when it's free." You place a soft kiss to his shoulder " I promise you'll do great, everything you do is amazing you try your hardest at everything Buck, You've worked your butt off and made mine considerably larger to get here, don't start losing your mind on me now." A cute little laugh from Bucky lets you know that he's hearing you and he isn't so stressed anymore. "I just want this to be perfect ya know?" with your head still against his back you nod, "I just want it to be a special day for my special girl."
You couldn't stop the slight blush that rose to your cheeks or the way that your heart suddenly started beating three times faster. You had also wanted to make him something special which is why you had got here so early. Finally releasing your hold on Bucky you straighten your apron out before gathering everything you need for some red velvet cupcakes. Bucky loved your red velvet cake so you loved making it for him. After hours of mixing, baking, and frosting had passed, you guys were rewarded with a bakery that looked as great as it smelled. "Alright doll, I'm heading out, I gotta go get ready. Meet you back here at 12 , Love ya." He didn't even give you a chance to answer as he ran right out the door. "Love you too."
You had stayed behind just a little while longer as you perfected your secret project. Carefully you added snowflakes to some of the cupcakes because you knew how much he loved snow even if he hated winter, some cats, flowers that reminded you of bucky, and one extra special cupcake. When you finish you decide to clean up a bit more and prepare some drinks for later before heading home to get ready. As soon as you got home you took a shower and did the simplest of make up with a light pink lip. You had decided to wear a dress to match the blossoming flowers that spring had brought. Pink with a yellow lace trim and flowers embroided all over the dress, matching it with some yellow flats.
You had decided that it was a perfect day for a walk so you grabbed a light scarf and slung it over your shoulders, grabbed Bucky's cupcakes, and headed over to the bakery. You felt as if a Hundred pounds had been lifted from your shoulders knowing that Bucky had felt the same way about you. You had decided that you would tell him today with your special cupcakes. As you rounded the corner you felt giddy and you couldn't wipe the smile from your face no matter how hard you tried. As you reached the bakery you saw that a majority of the people had already arrived and you knew that it would put Bucky at ease to see all the people enjoying his food. You stopped at the window, closing your eyes to take a deep breath to prepare yourself to join the celebration.
Opening your eyes you reached for the handle only to stop at the sight on the other side of the door. Bucky stood there arms wrapped around a woman eyes locked on hers as he leaned in for a kiss. It must have all happened in about 30 seconds but it felt as if time himself had slowed it down for you to watch the way he tilted her head and ran his tongue along her bottom lip before finally uniting their lips. Your heart dropped as quickly as your smile did and suddenly you felt so stupid for thinking this could be real. You willed yourself not to cry as you allowed your legs to carry you anywhere but there.
That's how you found yourself sitting underneath a blossoming cherry tree. A tree that held only happy memories because it wasn't a place you could be sad... back then. With your back against the tree and box of cupcakes full of unrequited love in your lap you realize how much you over romanticized Bucky. Opening the box you decide it would be a shame to let them go to waste. The first one you grab has a big red heart frosted in the middle, you let out a deep sigh before breaking the cupcake right down the middle. You shove half of the cupcake into your mouth and only then do you allow the tears to fall. You sat there for hours crying eating cupcakes, watching the sunset, and thinking about everything that Bucky did for you, as a friend. You realize you had no right to be angry at Bucky, after all you never told him how you felt you just assumed that he would feel the same way after so many years. With every broken memory another cupcake vanished.
He was always there for you, when no one wanted to come to your slumber party Bucky did and he even did all the girly things with you. Painting your nails, doing your hair, watching chick flicks, and pillow fights. once he even asserted that no one could protect you as well as he could, when you had decided to go camping with your friend from class so he insisted on taking you himself. Your friend was most noticeably gay so you had assumed he wanted to spend time alone with you. But now that you think back on those memories these are things that anyone would do for their bestfriend. And that's what you realized 8 hours and 11 cupcakes later.
The moon floated above you and as it's white rays settled upon the lake you decided it might be time to go home now. You get up and dust your dress off before leaning down to grab the mostly empty box. Turning around you are stopped again by what's in front of you. Bucky stands there brows furrowed as his eyes flash from you to the box in your hands. "Where the hell have you been, I've been calling you all day." swallowing the lump in your throat you go to answer but are interrupted. " everyone's been asking me about you all night and I had no damn idea what to tell them, but apparently you were just out here being inconsiderate. You go and tell me I can do great tonight, that you'd be there for me, but you weren't." You try to answer him but are again interrupted. "You could have told me something earlier instead of leaving me there like a dumb-" "SHUT UP!" this time it was your turn to interrupt him.
Taking a deep breath you look into his eyes before explaining. "Of course I was ready to be there today, you think I wore this dress to sit under a damn tree? Well I didn't. When I left my apartment I was ready and I was excited, so excited. I couldn't even stop smiling on my way over, but then I got to the shop and I saw-" Immediately you stopped as you realized what you were about to say. He cocked an eyebrow and shook his head slightly as if to say 'Hello?' "You saw what? What did you see that would make you abandon ship just like that?" Shame flushed through your being and you could no longer keep eye contact. "Nothing, you know what, it doesn't even matter. I'm sorry I was being dramatic I should have been an adult and dealt with it on my own time. And I'm sorry I abandoned you all, but the night was about you anyways."
"The night was supposed to be about the both of us so it does matter if you saw something that made you want to leave. Just tell me doll, what did you see?" his voice is soft as he pleads with you. "I saw... well I saw you kissing that lady and I just wanted get away and ended up here okay!?" You said it all in a jumble hoping that he wouldn't be able to understand what you had said. But luck wasn't your friend so of course he did. "So seeing me kiss another person was so gross to you that you had to run away, what the hell? are you 13 again?" You hadn't admitted it outloud yet and it seemed that the dumbass in front of you was going to force it out of you.
Stepping around Bucky you pull your scarf tight around your body as you focus on not crying anymore until you get home. You distract yourself by thinking of all the love you saw in all the little things Bucky did for you. Dancing around the newly furnished bakery body against body as frank sinatra brought you heart to heart, watching rom-coms and ugly crying together, but by the time you get home you force yourself to face the ugly truth. The Love was always in your head. It wasn't real.
A new wave of tears blurred your vision as teardrops fell perfectly to the ground. "It's because I have feelings for you Bucky, and I now know you don't feel the same way." Sniffling you don't bother looking up because your heart is to broken for that right now. "I'm Just gonna need a little bit of time and I'll be back good as new like nothing even happened." Still unable to lift your gaze from the ground you decide to focus on the last cupcake left in the box. 'I Love You' is written in tiny light blue frosting letters. "I uhm, uhh." That brought your attention to Bucky, as embarrassment pulsed as strong as ever through your veins. " You don't have to say anything Buck, It's fine, I'll see you next week, on monday" you hand him the box as you go to pass him "I think you would have a better use for this than me I ate 11 others already so."

Sitting at your dining room table, you were sipping coffee as you read the newspaper, in your pajamas. It was a relaxing start to your Saturday.
There was a prompt knock on your door. Groaning you got up and answered the door.
"Good you're awake." Your friend Claire stated shoving past you, walking into your apartment.
"What do you want Claire?" You groaned as you shut the door. "It's not even eight in the morning."
"I'm glad you asked." She teased taking a mug out of your cabinet filling it with the freshly brewed coffee. "I was thinking we could go to the farmers market, watch our shows- all the things we haven't been able to do since your new job."
"Fine," you sighed. "Let me get dressed."
"Wear something cute!" She yelled as you shut your bedroom door.
---------------
As Claire, was driving to the market she was blabbing on and on about a guy from her aerobics class that she wanted to hook up with. During the ride, you hadn't paid much attention to her hormonal rant about wanting to bang the unsuspecting man.
The aroma of fresh flowers filled your nose as you walked through the small market.
"Hey." Claire nudged your shoulder with hers. "Isn't that one of the Avengers?"
Shooting her a confused expression, you attempted to follow her gaze. As you were gazing in the direction she pointed out, you didn't notice the person sneak up next to you.
"Y/N?"
"Bucky?" You questioned turning towards the man.
"Hey." He greeted, smiling softly.
"What're you doing here?" You asked shyly.
"I'll ehm." Claire spoke. "I'll be over....there." She pointed in a general direction, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively at you.
"I...I um just needed some fresh air." Bucky answered, dropping his gaze to his shoes.
Smiling you reached forward gently grabbing his wrist, as you lightly tugged signaling for him to follow you. Much to your surprise, he allowed you to pull him through the market, your grip eventually falling to his hand.
You stopped at a bakery stand.
"What is this?" He questioned standing next to you, as his shoulder gently touched yours.
"It's my favorite bakery." You beamed. "It's New York's hidden gem!"
"Hello Miss Y/N." One of the booth operators spoke. "We weren't expecting to see you here today."
"Hi Keith." You smiled. "I wasn't expecting to be here either." You chuckled softly.
"The usual for you then?"
"Please." You nodded.
Keith handed you a box of baked goods.
"How much do I owe you?"
Keith chuckled softly, "It's on the house."
Grinning you, looked at Bucky. He offered you a smile in which you gladly returned.
Leading him to a seating area, you opened the box and shared the goods.
"So." You spoke. "What do you think?"
"I think....."
"Y/N!" Claire spoke, walking towards where you and Bucky were sitting. "There you are! I've been looking all over for you."
"Claire this is Bucky." You introduced.
"Nice to meet you." They said in unison, as they shook hands.
"Y/N, we have to go." She stated her voice dripped with sadness.
Nodding your head, she walked away leaving you and Bucky alone.
"I'll see you back at the tower then." He spoke as his voice was laced with sorrow.
Smiling you nodded your head. Following Claire, you quickly turned around toward Bucky.
"Hey Bucky?"
He turned in surprise towards you. "Yeah?"
"Don't be a stranger okay?"
He grinned at you before he nodded.
Walking back to the car, your phone began to ring. Digging in your purse, you pulled it out.
"Hello?"
"Is this Y/N?"
"Yes, it is."
"This is Dr. Fawn's office." The nurse spoke through the phone. "We have some good news."
"Okay?"
"You're pregnant."

Shush (Bucky x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: Hey y'all! So sorry for the long gap of time without updating. I WAS going to update, but then my house freaking flooded and I had to help my family move out before I came to Paris, and bleh. It was a mess. But hey, here I am. :) I'm headed to London tomorrow, so I'll probably not update again until maybe Monday? Apparently, I suck at meeting my deadlines for this, so that will be an estimate. XD But soon! For sure! Anyway, hope you enjoy it! This is just a short, funny little blurb but I'll get something longer out soon. :)
=======
Word Count: 642
Warnings: Fluff. Just fluff.
=======
"Hah hah, oh hi stranger! It's been a while!" My voice was ten times louder than it should have been, as I stumbled across the dance floor in the direction of my boyfriend. I nearly tripped over my own two feet as I reached him. I giggled slightly as he caught me in his arms before I could land on my face. "Oopsy."
"You're quite a mess, aren't you doll?" His eyes were twinkling in amusement. "I thought we decided to go light on the drinking tonight."
"Yeah, but that one fruity drink was to die for. I had to have like six or ten."
"I hope you are kidding."
"We'll see in the morning, mister. " I try my hardest to wink seductively, and Bucky laughs before wrapping his arm around my waist, gently leading me towards the door.
"Alright. Off to bed, we go."
"So soon, Mr. Barnes." I gasp and look at him. "You should know that I'm not that kind of girl."
"I thought you were just trying to flirt your way into my pants." He opened the door into the cold night and I slowly made my way outside.
"That was a joke... obviously."
"I don't think you were lying about the number of drinks you had, though. Plan to pay Tony back for that?"  Bucky lead me to his car and helped me inside before climbing into the driver's seat.
"We'll see." I leaned my head against the window, letting out a small groan as the cold glass touched my burning forehead. "Fuck."
"What?"
"I need more to drink."
"No, you don't." I could hear the snicker he was hiding back as the car slowly started to move forward. "You know, you're sure going to have a hell of a hangover in the morning. If you play your cards right, you'll get the princess treatment from me in the morning."
"I like the sound of that." I smiled tiredly, closing my eyes as we continued to drive. After what felt like two minutes, I felt his hand brushing the hair out of my eyes before speaking again,
"Doll, it's time to wake up. We're home."
"Let me sleep in the car," I mumbled, not bothering to open my eyes. "I'll be fine."
"You have a perfectly good bed inside. Come on, let's go."
"Nooooo."
"Are you really going to make me carry you upstairs?"
My eyelids fluttered open, and I flashed him my best smile. "Pretty please? For your favorite girlfriend on the planet?"
His blue eyes gazed down at me gently, before he rolled them in quite an exaggerated manner. "Fine. Only because I love you."
In a matter of seconds, I was out of my seat and in his arms, walking into the tower. I let out a loud sigh as I felt one of my heels slide off my heel and clack on the floor noisily. "Well, shit."
"Y/N, you have to be quiet. Everyone is asleep."
"It's only one-thirty. It's time to get the party-"
"No." I could feel him start to laugh quietly as we walked down the hall, and I pouted.
"Stop laughing at me."
"I'm not laughing at you, doll." Bucky shook his head slightly before somehow managing to open our bedroom door and walking to the bed, placing me down gently. "Well, maybe I am right now, but you'll be laughing in the morning when I tell you about this."
"Mhm," I mumbled tiredly, as I felt him tuck the covers around me before climbing in next to me. "Whatever you say, Mr. Tinman."
"Okay, enough. Go to sleep." His arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer to his chest, his lips brushing against my forehead gently. "I love you. "
"I love you too... but I think I love ice cream more, I'm-"
"Y/N... shush."

Part 2
Pairing: Bucky x y/n
Word Count: 1.5k
Warnings: Language
Author’s Note: This was intended to be a one-part story but the lovely response it got on AO3 has prompted me to make it a series. I now have a ten-page word document of plot in bullet points to get through so, enjoy!
Am I writing two series simultaneously? Yes. Has this ever worked out for me in the past? No.
Part 1
---
You stood in front of the mirror, squinting at the small, circular scar that sat a few inches left of your belly button. It had healed remarkably well in the few weeks you’d been home. You tilted your head slightly, musing that if it weren’t for the weird, lightning-esque burn marks that sprouted from it in every direction, you probably would’ve been able to pass it off as a birthmark. You just shrugged at your reflection, turned and hopped in the shower.
Readjusting to normal life had been difficult, the hardest part being figuring out exactly what ‘normal’ meant now. The city was still littered with various memorials and floral tributes, some fresh, some neglected; any noise louder than a car horn made every pedestrian in the street flinch and shake with terror; new charities for people who’d lost homes and businesses were canvassing on the streets constantly while tabloid journalists spent their days trying desperately to weed out and expose the numerous scammers amongst them.
Thankfully, though, the biggest inconvenience you’d experienced so far was the messed up subway timetables due to various tunnels caving in. Despite your injury, you felt like you’d gotten away lightly- missing the immediate aftermath was a blessing that not many in the city were afforded.
Unfortunately, your good luck stopped there. You’d barely heard from Bucky at all and you hadn’t seen him in person since he dropped you off at your place all those weeks ago. It was understandable, the whole fucking world was now obsessed with “The Avengers” and he was caught up in the eye of that storm, but you couldn’t help feeling a bit like you’d been abandoned. After everything the two of you had been through, it was really hurtful that he’d stayed away for so long.
After making yourself presentable and pulling on your work uniform, you left your apartment, giving a wide berth to the bulldozer working on one of the many potholes in the sidewalk. You wandered onto the subway and managed to find a seat opposite two well-groomed guys in suits, both reading from the same newspaper. They definitely weren’t siblings, they looked nothing alike, but were they a couple? You stared for a few seconds. Their thighs were touching, but that was nothing remarkable on the cramped subway cars, especially now there were half as many services as usual. Both were wearing wedding bands, but they were different colours. This was a tough one.
You smiled to yourself, remembering how god-awful Bucky was at this game. Even after hours of playing it at the window he’d never guess right. One time you saw what was very clearly an elderly mother with her son, probably heading to some kind of special family function judging by their outfits, and he outright refused to accept that they weren’t a couple. None of your watertight evidence could sway him. You pulled a muscle in your stomach laughing, he just muttered something under his breath about how age wasn’t everything in a relationship.
You shook off the daydream and lazily wandered your gaze down to the front page of the newspaper. An audible gasp escaped your lips when you read the headline, drawing the attention of the few commuters in the car without headphones. It read:
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?
“Avengers” injured in botched overseas operation
Without thinking you leant forward and snatched the paper, rapidly flicking through the pages to find the full article. There was no real information in there, which you should have anticipated- they’d obviously just received a leak comprised of a single sentence and milked it for every dime it was worth. One word did catch your attention, however. Stark. If he had any information on Bucky then, so help you god, you’d get it out of him.
---
Standing in front of Stark Tower, the righteous confidence you’d felt so strongly on that subway car was starting to waver a little. The confrontation had gone remarkably well in your head but now you were starting to realise how stupidly fucking naive it was to think you’d even get an audience with the guy who owns this place. He probably wasn't even in.
You took a deep breath and pushed open the door, doing your very best to look nonchalant in front of the armed security guards while hurrying over to the front desk. The receptionist was staring at his monitor and typing furiously. You cleared your throat, but he didn’t look up. Looking around, you noticed an old-fashioned call bell sitting on the counter- probably an ironic gift from a colleague, maybe for secret Santa. You hit it. He winced and threw out his hand to silence it.
‘How can I help?’
‘I need to talk to Tony Stark.’
He laughed. 'Do you have an appointment?'
'No, but it's urgent.' An unconvinced eyebrow was raised in your direction. ‘It’s about James Barnes.’
‘What about him?’
‘I know him.’
‘So does the rest of the world, sweetie.’
You rubbed your forehead, trying to collect your thoughts. ‘Look, I was with him after the attack, I got hurt and he helped. I’m his friend. Can you tell Stark that, please? I need to know if he’s alright.’
You could feel tears welling in your eyes as you spoke. The receptionist conceded, picking up the phone and waving you over to the seating area, probably figuring it’d be easier to get rid of you with a firm no from up high. He waited in silence for a minute or so before speaking into the receiver in a tone too hushed for you to hear. He frowned, gave you a very confused glance, and whispered again. Then he hung up.
‘Well, looks like it’s your lucky day,’ he gestured towards the elevator, ‘top floor.’
You had no idea how the hell you pulled that off. You strolled over, hit the button and turned to watch the display beside the doors tick slowly upwards. It was only two floors from the top when you suddenly realised that your whole planned confrontation had completely melted out of your head.
There was a loud ding as the doors slid open and you shuffled forwards, finding yourself in an incredibly extravagant penthouse with a view of the whole city. A stern-looking man with an angular beard and dark glasses approached you, not lifting his gaze from the phone he was tapping at hurriedly. As he got closer you noticed a few small cuts and bruises littered across his face.
‘Tell me what you told the guy behind the desk.’
He still wasn’t looking up, his abrupt questioning catching you off guard. You scrambled for a second and he clicked his fingers impatiently.
‘I’m a friend of James, I want to know if he’s alright.’
‘Wrong. Tell me what you said.’
‘I dont-’ you could feel your face starting to heat up, ‘I just- I’m confused.’
‘It’s a simple question.’
‘I don’t remember.’
He was obviously irritated, sighing as he dropped his hands and met your gaze for the first time. ‘You’re the one who got shot, right?’
You nodded, too intimidated to do much else.
‘Show me.’ He gestured towards your stomach, noting your trepidation as he did so. ‘Look, I need proof that you are who you say you are if we're going to continue this conversation.’
You nodded again, grabbing a fistful of your shirt and hesitantly lifting it to reveal the eerie-looking scar.
‘Gross,’ he gestured for you to cover up, ‘alright.’
Turning on his heels, he stormed across the floor towards a circular seating area. You guessed that you were supposed to follow him. The shiny floor squeaked under your cheap shoes, your cheeks flushing when you caught a glimpse of yourself in the huge windows and remembered that you were still wearing your barista uniform. Stark waved you into a seat.
‘Alright, so your boyfriend is in Siberia, he-’
‘Siberia?’
‘Yes. He was doing some recon when we lost him, we thought-’
‘Lost him?’
‘Can you not talk unless you have something useful to add, please?’ You smiled apologetically. ‘Thank you. Basically, what we thought was a small, residual Hydra cell turned out to be a big operation and we were outnumbered. Some of us were injured, but there was a party we lost track of. Bucky’s party. He’s probably fine, we just don’t know-’
Stark clocked the confusion on your scrunched-up face. He sighed loudly, using one hand to brace himself against the table while the other moved to lift up his glasses and aggressively rub his eyes.
‘Go on.’
‘...Hydra?’
‘Jesus Christ.’ He collapsed into the seat behind him. ‘Y’know what, it doesn’t even matter. All you need to know is that he’s probably fine but, if he's been captured, it could be very bad. We think it would be a good idea for someone he’s close with to be nearby, just in case.’
‘In case what?’
He shot you a warning look but this time you didn’t back down. Your heart was in your throat, you were getting desperate for answers.
‘Look, I don’t have much time, I just came back here to scramble some more manpower and tech. I’m leaving in a few hours, are you coming or not?’
‘To Siberia?’
‘No, to Disney World. Are you sure you didn’t get shot in the brain?’

Hi- may I ask for a Bucky x girlfriend reader. He has been away on mission for a long time, so when James finally reunites with his lover - things gets heated and rough rather quickly! But he can help himself getting a guilt-trip afterwards in the shower, seeing all the marks and bruises he has caused and branded her body with...
Guilty Pleasure
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!reader
Fandom: Marvel
Warnings: SMUT!, NSFW, slight pain kink, some manhandling, explicit unprotected sex, sad/guilty Bucky
Word Count: 1,556
A/N: Hello! First, thank you for this request! I'm sorry it's quite long, but I feel like it's definitely worth it!! I really hope you enjoy this and that it's what you wanted. Feedback is always appreciated!
Summary: Things quickly get steamy when Bucky returns from a long mission, but he's later ridden with guilt from the results of your pleasure.
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
You were the only thing on Bucky's mind. He didn't care about anything but getting back to you. Steve was flying the Quinjet home, and Bucky was truly beginning to get annoyed at his best friend for not flying faster, even though Steve was going full speed. Steve barely had time to lower the back before Bucky was out of the plane and quickly walking to your room.
He ignored Tony telling him he needed to do a debriefing before going to you. Steve smiled, telling Tony to leave him be. After all, Steve and he had been on that damn mission for just over three weeks. And now, as Bucky bound down the hall towards your shared room, he found himself considering the idea of never going on another mission.
Your face lit up the moment the door to your room opened, and without a second thought, you flew off your bed and slammed into Bucky's chest, "Bucky!"
Bucky smiled, squeezing you tightly, "Hey doll!"
You pulled back, crashing your lips onto Bucky's as he lifted you off the ground, your legs automatically wrapping around his waist. He smiled into the kiss, deepening it as he stepped further into the room, locking the door behind him. You pulled back, slightly out of breath, and connected your foreheads.
"Someone's eager," Bucky teased, walking towards your bed.
You frowned playfully, "Don't tease me. I've missed you."
"Don't worry, doll," Bucky smirked, laying you down, "There won't be much teasing at all. I've missed you far too much to spend time teasing you."
It didn't take long for Bucky to strip you both of your clothes. His kisses were almost as hot and needy as his touch. Sloppy kisses and bites being placed all over your neck and chest. Bucky kept to his promise. He had missed you far too much to consider teasing you much at all, and he'd missed you far too much to even consider how rough he was being.
You didn't mind though. Bucky was manhandling you just enough that it wasn't unbearable, and the idea of him being this desperate and needy for you turned you on like you couldn't imagine. He slammed into you quite quickly, hardly giving you time to adjust to his massive size before he began to thrust into you. Your moans filled the entire room as he set his pace, his hands gripping your waist incredibly tight, the slight pain only adding to your pleasure.
Bucky's grunts and groans combine with your moans as his thrusts become animalistic. At this point, your sure that everyone knows exactly what you two are doing, especially with the headboard slamming into the wall the way it is. Bucky's grip on your hips tightens, and you whimper in pleasure at the feeling of Bucky fucking you into your bed.
The super-soldier's head drops to your shoulder as he nips at it, his grunts getting louder as you cry, "Feels s'good Buck!"
He groans at your words, his metal arm coming to grip your throat lightly, his flesh hand shifting to grab your left leg and hoist it up over his shoulder. The new angle elicits a string of curse words from your mouth as Bucky's pace somehow quickens, his flesh hand returning to grip your hip.
"Fuck, you're taking my cock so well, doll," Bucky groans, nipping your collarbone, "S'well. Missed you too much... way too much."
Your whines go a higher pitch as you grip Bucky's shoulders tightly, "'M gonna cum."
Bucky nods. He knows already. He can feel you clenching around him, and before he can even tell you to cum, your clenching even tighter around his cock. Your orgasm slams into you, your legs shaking slightly as Bucky fucks you through your high. Despite his efforts, it'd been three weeks, and your clenching is too much as Bucky shoots his load into you, his metal hand leaving your throat and reaching to squeeze your thigh that's still rest on his shoulder.
"Fuck," Bucky curses, his head shifting from the right side of your chest to the left side, nipping that side of your collarbone. He laughs softly as he lets down your leg, his metal arm releasing your throat, "We should probably shower now."
A giggle escaped your lips as you nodded, Bucky kissing his way from your collarbone up to your lips. You smiled as he pulled out, suppressing a soft groan as he did so. You allowed Bucky to help you up and usher you towards your bathroom. He started the shower, getting the water warm before you two slipped in.
You hummed contently at the warm feeling, knowing that no words needed to be said as Bucky grabbed the soap. Showers together were routine for you two, so you stood patiently as Bucky washed your back before gently turning you by your shoulder. Your eyes fluttered shut as you let Bucky's hands glide over your body, lathering you in soap. Bucky smile at your reaction, finally taking his eyes off your face to admire your body. Or should he say, what was left of it?
Bucky looked over your body, his eyes immediately noticing the spots on your waist and hips where bruises were quickly forming, bruises in the shapes of his hands. He noticed a similar bruise forming on the thigh he'd hoisted over his shoulder, and even various spots along your chest and collarbones had bruises forming from him biting too hard. However, what broke Bucky was the faint bruises forming around your neck. He stumbled in the shower, soap dropping from his hands as he stumbled out, desperate to give you distance from him.
Your eyes flew open at the sudden commotion, just barely seeing Bucky fleeing the bathroom with a towel around his waist. You called for him repeatedly, but he ignored you, trying to dry himself as fast as possible. You were quick to rinse and get out, wrapping a towel around your body.
When you entered your bedroom, you saw Bucky yanking on a shirt and heading towards the door, making fear spike in your chest, "James Buchanan Barnes, you will not leave me alone in this damn room again," Bucky froze at the crack in your voice. He knew if he turned around, he'd see you on the verge of tears, "I don't know what I did wrong but don't leave me alone again."
"What you did wrong!?" Bucky snapped, spinning around, "This isn't what you did. It's what I did! Look at yourself! Have you even looked in the mirror? Seen the way I... the way I scarred you, hurt you."
Bucky watched intently as your eyebrows scrunched, and you slowly turned towards the mirror in your room, opening the towel to examine your body. He waited for your face to contort into disgust, for you to turn around and scream at him to leave, but it never came. You simply examined your body before wrapping your towel back around you and turning to Bucky.
"Buck... baby, they're just bruises," You spoke softly, walking towards him.
Fear spiked within Bucky, and he quickly stumbled backward, tripping over his own feet slightly as he slammed into your door. He shook his head rapidly, making you freeze as tears rose within his eyes. The room fell silent as Bucky's chest heaved with each breath he took, tears beginning to roll down his cheeks.
"I hurt you," Bucky croaked out, "I scarred you with... with those marks, those bruises that you should never have."
"Buck," You whispered, "You didn't hurt me. It felt good. We were just caught up in the moment."
"No, no, no," Bucky cried softly, his head dropping to the floor, "Don't try to justify this, don't try to make this okay."
"You didn't mean it!" You huffed, closing the distance between you and Bucky, "You didn't mean it, Buck. I'm not mad at you. I'm not even the slightest bit upset. In fact, I'm kind of happy. I can't wait to make Sam and Steve uncomfortable with all these hickies."
A giggle left your lips, and Bucky had to fight off a smile at his favorite sound. Slowly, you cupped his cheek, drawing his gaze to you. You gently wiped away the tears, leaning up to kiss Bucky's nose with a smile.
"I love you so much, Bucky. Please don't feel guilty over something so small."
"What if I do it again?" Bucky whimpered, his cerulean orbs locking on yours, "What if I really hurt you one time?"
"Buck... baby... you won't hurt me. I trust you more than anyone, and if you went too far, I would tell you. Besides that, though, you would know if you were going too far, and I trust that you would stop."
A small smile came to Bucky's lips as he took in the fact that you were still soaking wet, wrapped in only your towel with a slight shiver, "How'd I get so lucky?"
"How did I get so lucky?" You countered, "I love you so much, Bucky."
"I love you more, doll," Bucky kissed your forehead before a smirk came over his face, "You really think we can make Steve and Sam uncomfortable with those hickies?"
"Oh definitely, Steve will wish they never found him in the ice."

I'm sorry it's so sad! I hope you guys enjoy, feedback is VERY much appreciated! Note: this takes place 4 yrs after Tell Me I'm A Wreck. (y/n/n)= your nickname
Summary: You deal with everything that's changed since Bucky and yours break up four years ago. Someone Like You by Adele.
PART ONE, PART THREE, PART FOUR, PART FIVE, PART SIX, PART SEVEN
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things, I didn't give to you
"H-he's what?" You mumbled, your eyes wide as you stared at Sam.
"He's married, (y/n/n). He found this nice girl... he's all settled down in this nice home out by a lake," Sam spoke slowly, "He's even got a cat. It's like his dreams came true... just... not with you anymore."
"T-that's great..." You stuttered, tears welling in your eyes, "Wanda... she uh, she never mentioned anything."
Sam frowned at the crack in your voice, "Hey... I didn't come to upset you, but with Wanda being MIA for a few months now, I figured someone needed to come to see you. I thought Wanda told you, I'm sorry."
"N-no... it's fine, Sam. I just... I guess I never expected us to actually end," You sighed, your head dropping as a few tears fell, "I guess I just figured at one of these damn Stark parties, he'd gather the courage to talk to me again."
Sam frowned, listening to your sniffle as he pulled you into his chest. He could feel his heart breaking along with yours, never considering that you still loved Bucky, that you still believed it could work. Sam's arms tightened around your crying frame as he realized that it might've been a bad idea to come to visit you after all.
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light
After Sam left, you were left alone to wallow in your pain. Wanda and Pietro had gone MIA roughly four months ago now, Vision leaving with them. Of course, Wanda had attempted to keep in contact with you, calling once or twice a month to update you. It confused you on why she had left, why she'd failed to tell you about Bucky and his... his wife. It was so unlike her to withhold something this big from you, and you blamed yourself for appearing unprepared to hear this news to the telepathic girl.
And it was stupid, oh it was so, so stupid. But you felt like you quite literally couldn't control yourself. Before your mind even seemed to catch up with your body, you were driving to the address Sam had given you, a fresh batch of Bucky's favorite cookies sitting in your passenger seat, still warm.
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
It was only when you knocked on the door that your mind seemed to return to you. You panicked, contemplating the idea of setting down the cookies and running back to the car, but before you could do anything, the door was opening, and you were suddenly facing none other than Bucky Barnes.
Emotions slammed through you so quickly that you couldn't process them, leaving you to simply stare at Bucky's shocked face. He'd cut his hair, and as much as you missed his long hair, you realized that short hair suited him too. His silver arm was gone, replaced by a beautiful black and gold one, making you realize, gold suited Bucky well too.
"I uhm..." You stuttered, your face heating up, "My mom always told me it was bad luck to not give newlyweds a present... so I made these for you."
Bucky looked down to the plate of his favorite cookies in your hands. Not just his favorite cookies, but his favorite cookies made by you. He remained silent, though he couldn't deny that just the sight of them had his stomach rumbling. Memories of all the times you'd made those cookies for him flashed through his mind, and he fought off the urge to smile.
"I... Sam told me, and gave me your address," You mumbled softly, your gaze staying on Bucky, "I know it's wrong of me... to show up uninvited and unexpected but... I just, I felt I needed to do this."
Bucky nodded softly, his first sign of any emotion as he pulled the door open more, revealing his full-frame and taking the plate as you held it forward. The moment the door opened, a white cat dashed to your feet, circling them and meowing up at you. You reached down, petting the cat a few times before Bucky cleared his throat.
"Why'd you come?"
His tone was soft, so much softer than you remembered. You shrugged slightly, looking away from the man before you, your gaze landing on the lake not too far away. How'd things come to this? How did one year apart turn into four? How did the two of you brooding in your break-up lead to him moving on?
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me, " I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"I... wanted to wish you the best in your marriage," Your voice shook slightly, but you pressed on, "I wanted you... I didn't want you to... just... don't forget me."
Tears filled your eyes, and you didn't dare look back at the man whose property you were on, completely uninvited. You should've moved on, you thought harshly. You felt that you should've moved on long ago, accepted one of those dates the twins had relentlessly tried setting you upon. You should've tried to find someone like Bucky... but you knew that wasn't what you wanted. You didn't want someone like Bucky you just wanted Bucky.
Bucky gulped nervously, his hands gripping the plate of cookies quite tightly as he watched his cat roll at your feet. Alpine wasn't that friendly with anyone except Bucky the cat wasn't even that friendly with his wife. Bucky took a deep breath, stepping back into his house and calling for Alpine softly. He frowned at you, not missing the tear that rolled down your cheek or the way you tried to hide it. He was conflicted. He thought he was happy with his wife. He thought he'd finally moved on, but now here you were.
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead."
You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days
You'd bound off the steps so quickly you were surprised you hadn't fallen. You weren't sure if Bucky had closed the door or watched you leave. You just knew you had to get out of there.
Things change. That's what life is. Life doesn't stop for anyone, it keeps going and changing, but you never thought it would change so quickly. It seemed like just yesterday you were dating Bucky for the first time, slapping the super-soldier with a pillow because you insisted he "didn't know how to have fun". It was just yesterday that you were making love for the first time, talking about your future, going on adventures, and forgiving that man because you knew he was the love of your life.
Looking back, it seemed like a summer haze. Your relationship with Bucky was beautiful and warm, it was spring and winter. The breakup was autumn, slowly falling and becoming barren. But now... now was winter. Now was a cold, dark winter that would be never-ending because how could you move on from Bucky? Bucky wasn't the type of person you move on from.
You sped home, surely breaking all the speed limits and not even sure if you stopped for any stop signs as you cried your heart out. You wanted to be strong. You wanted to move on and find someone like Bucky. But there wasn't anyone like Bucky. Bucky was a once-in-a-lifetime man, a man that got away.
Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
You were fairly sure that you woke up all your neighbors with how hard you slammed your door when you got home. Nothing mattered, not right now, not while you were finally grieving the loss of your relationship. How could you feel your heart breaking? The pieces were shattering so loudly that you clamped your hands over your ears, tears rolling down your cheeks even faster than before.
You were stupid. You should've given Bucky another chance. You should've caved at that stupid Stark party where you stayed with Wanda and Pietro, keeping your eyes on Bucky the entire night. You had so many regrets, and Bucky had made so many mistakes but they were just memories now.
"You wanted this," You cried softly, desperate to help yourself remember, "You wanted this, you wanted this, you wanted this!"
You slid down the door, a sob raking through your chest so loudly it scared you. You'd been miserable with Bucky, but now he was living the life you'd always talked about together, and goddammit, it was so bittersweet. It was like biting into a frosting-covered lemon, the citrus seeping into all the scars you held from your relationship with Bucky. But the sweet, sweet frosting was covering the wounds because Bucky was finally happy.
He was happy, and that had been all you'd ever wanted. So even if it meant he was happier without you, you'd accept that for him.

Tell Me I’m A Wreck
Request: No
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!reader
Fandom: Marvel
Warnings: angst??, Bucky being a dick, toxic relationship, sort of an AU
Word Count: 1,356
A/N: Hello everyone! I decided to try something new! I was listening to this song after watching the new TFATWS episode, so I wrote this as a result!! I hope you guys enjoy this, once again, it's something new that I decided to try. Feedback is very much appreciated!! Also, hurray for first Bucky fic, even though it's sort of depressing haha!
Summary: Bucky looks back on your relationship together and realizes his mistakes. Tell Me I’m A Wreck by Every Avenue
PART TWO, PART THREE, PART FOUR, PART FIVE, PART SIX, PART SEVEN
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
I could have been easier on you
I could have been all you held onto
I know I wasn't fair
I tried my best to care about you
Bucky didn't know how to explain it. How everything had crumbled so, so quickly after three years together. Now, after multiple months away from you, he knew how badly he messed up. He recognized how it was his fault. He shouldn't have pushed you away, but the amount of love he held for you terrified him. He got lost within his mind, terrified that he would hurt you. He pushed you away relentlessly, day after day, shoving you farther and farther from him in hopes he'd save you from himself.
He tried to show his love, he tried opening up, but it'd been too late. Too much damage had already happened after two years of him consistently pushing you away. He knew he'd screwed everything up, and the chance of you and him living a long happy life was scarce to none. He tried to take care of you, ensure you were safe and happy. But how could you be happy with the way Bucky refused to allow you in while claiming he loved you?
I know I could have been a better man
But I always had to have the upper hand
I'm struggling to see the better side of me
Bucky sighed in frustration, a scream of anger leaving his mouth as he threw his beer bottle at the wall. It shattered everywhere, as he growled. He should've been better for you. Countless times he should have just stopped. Should've let you win the argument, should've let you take care of him, should've let you in.
Bucky saw himself as a monster.
He was a real monster. No, no longer was the Winter Soldier the monster. He, James Buchanan Barnes, was the monster. He hurt you so many times. How the hell could you have stayed with him for three years, three years of him pushing you away. How could you have told him repeatedly he was just trying to protect himself, that he was good, pure. Bucky truly couldn't see this good side you'd always talked about.
But I can't take all your jabs and taunts
You're pointing out my every fault
And you wonder why I walked away
But you got fed up. Anybody would get fed up when their boyfriend of three years was pushing you away as far as refusing to let you kiss him.
"You're ridiculous!" You yelped one day, your teary eyes filled with rage as you watched Bucky's back tense, "Stop pushing me away! I get that you've experienced traumatic things. We all have Buck, but don't suffer in silence!"
"I'm not," He grumbled, turning to face you.
"You are!" You snapped, "You're self-centered, you think you're protecting others by pushing them away, but you're just hurting more people! I get your pain Bucky, I get that you feel unworthy of love, and you feel you're a wreck, but damn it let me show you otherwise!"
"I'm not the wreck," Bucky snarled, "You are."
When you tell me I'm a wreck
You say that I'm a mess
How could you expect anything less?
You latched onto me
Then cried I strung you along
"She's just such a mess," Bucky grumbled to Steve directly as the group all sat around in Stark tower, "I mean she's been dragging me along for three years now as if she doesn't see she's not stable enough for a relationship."
"Weren't you the one that asked her out?" Wanda jumped into the conversation, defending you, "If you're unhappy, leave her. She's done nothing but support you."
"That's beside the point," Bucky rolled his eyes, taking another swig of his beer. He was desperate to hide his pain at the fact that you'd already left, "She's a complete wreck. She never does anything besides cling to me. She's not the girl I got with. All she does is criticize me about how I'm not good enough for her and blah, blah, blah."
But Steve saw right through his best friend's façade. Steve was overly aware of the way Bucky's grip tightened on the beer bottle, and his heart sped up. He knew Bucky was trying to project all the horrible things he'd done to you as if he was only defending himself. And Steve knew that sooner or later, Bucky was going to become the man he should've been for you, only it was too late now.
I told you when you asked
I knew this wouldn't last
At least I could be honest about that
And now you're telling everyone
How I only did you wrong
I guess you never knew me at all
You stared at Bucky with tear-stained cheeks, your packed bags at your feet, as the man across the room from you was frantically trying to fix things. You shook your head as a sob left his lips while he bolted towards you, desperate to keep you in his life, never expecting you to leave him.
"Please, (y/n)... doll... please. This is gonna work. Just give me time. I'll go to therapy. I'll fix this. This can work again."
"James," You whimpered, pulling your hands out of his, "This was never gonna last."
It was only days later that Bucky was at the small party at Stark Tower, criticizing and talking about you in a way that had the other members wondering if Bucky had ever actually met you.
Remember on my 21st birthday
You took me where we went on our first date
We stayed 'til closing time, after 4 glasses of wine
You started with a pointless argument
You said that I forgot to compliment
The dress you wore that night
That I've seen a thousand times
You smiled at Bucky softly, admiring the way his long hair framed his face. You'd suggested a few times that he should cut it, that maybe it'd help him feel farther away from the Winter Soldier and more like himself. He refused, and you couldn't say you were upset. You loved his long hair.
You sipped on your wine before speaking up, "Thank you for this, Bucky."
"Mmhm," He hmphed, downing his entire glass of wine, "Sure thing."
Your lips tugged down at his lack of attentiveness. It frustrated you. He was always this way now. Never fully there with you. Your eyes drifted down, and you remembered you were wearing the dark blue dress Bucky had got you for your birthday a few years back.
"Don't you like my dress, Buck? You haven't said anything."
"Here we go," Bucky groaned.
"What?" You snapped, "I was just asking if you noticed the dress--"
"Yea, of course, I did. I've seen it a thousand times. It's the one Steve you for Christmas."
You frowned deeply, your lips pressed together tightly as your eyes darted around the room, desperately trying to fight off tears. You wanted to tell Bucky that it was the dress he got you, for your birthday, but you took this as a signal of him having a bad day and let it slide.
But I think we just want different things
I want space, you want a diamond ring
Whatever made you think we were meant to be?
Bucky gripped his hair tightly, looking down at the small velvet-covered case that sat on your bed. He'd been so sure during your relationship that he wanted space. That he wanted you far away from him so he could ensure that you were safe. But now that you were gone, that you had been gone for multiple months, he wished he would've given you the one thing you had wanted.
He remembered all those nights you'd talk to him about the future. Asking him what kind of house he'd like, who his groomsmen would be if you ever got married. He knew you wanted to marry him, and truthfully, Bucky wanted to marry you too, but he needed space from you. He wished now, more than ever, that he would've manned up and proposed to you, because just maybe that could've fixed things.
But Bucky knew better, he knew that a perfect woman like you deserved more than a monster like him. He groaned in frustration, wondering what had made you believe that you and he could work out.
Still I see you standing there
Waiting 'round for me to fall
Girl you must be crazy
Still believing you and me belong
I guess you never knew me at all
You were gone. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months turned into a year. You'd disappeared from Bucky's life, though he knew you were still in New York, as he often overheard Wanda talking about the time you two would spend together.
He waited patiently, figuring you would cave in. He figured his beloved doll would come back to him, that she'd always come back to him. Because for the first time since you'd gotten together, Bucky wanted to let you in. He wanted to make this relationship work. But it was too late.
It was too late when he saw you at one of Stark's much larger parties, standing happily with Wanda and Pietro. Your head was tossed back in laughter as you stood between the twins, who were laughing along with you.
Bucky was too late. And he realized at that moment, seeing you glowing in a way you should've been doing next to him. He must have been crazy forever believing that the two of you could work.

The One That Got Away
Request: Yes
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!reader
Fandom: Marvel
Warnings: fluff, sadness, mentions to tattoos, mentions to alcohol, mentions to breakup
Word Count: 1,371
A/N: I’m so sorry this is a bit late! Hello lovelies!!! I'm so excited to release this part! I'm so sorry for how sad it is! I got misty-eyed while writing it. Anyways! This was a request (posted on my page previously) I hope you all enjoy and feedback is ALWAYS appreciated.
Summary: At a Stark party, you run into Bucky and suddenly everything feels like too much as you reflect on all your emotions about your breakup. The One That Got Away by Katy Perry
PART ONE, PART TWO, PART FOUR, PART FIVE, PART SIX, PART SEVEN
Tumblr media
(gif not mine!)
Summer after high school when we first met
We'd make out in your Mustang to Radiohead
And on my 18th birthday we got matching tattoos
You weren't sure why you'd allowed Sam to drag you out of your house. After your impromptu visit to Bucky, you hadn't left your home, and that was roughly four weeks ago. Sam had brought you groceries and checked up on you, feeling that duty was his since Wanda still hadn't returned.
But anyway... this Stark party.
You hadn't been to a single one since Wanda disappeared five months ago now. But, Sam insisted you went to this party, forcing you into one of your favorite dresses and practically throwing you into his car. You weren't that nervous, you always ended up having a great time with Wanda and Pietro, and surely Sam would make sure you had a great time. That was until you two saw Bucky pull up with his new wife under his arm.
"Hey... (y/n)?" Sam called, gently trying to shake you out of the daze you were in, "Honey, come on, talk to me. I swear I didn't know."
"You okay, kid?" Tony asked, walking up to you with a frown as he watched Steve go to Bucky.
"He still has that stupid car," You chuckled suddenly, your eyes filling with tears, "When we first got together, he'd drive me all over New York in that dumb Mustang. I can't tell you how many times we made out in it. He took me to get our matching tattoos in that stupid car... and now it's her it that car."
Tony pulled you into his chest, rubbing your back, "You're right Mustangs are totally stupid. Audi's are way cooler, right Sam?"
"Totally."
Used to steal your parents' liquor and climb to the roof
Talk about our future like we had a clue
Never planned that one day I'd be losing you
It was like you could see the memory playing out in front of you.
You chuckled, stumbling with Bucky up the last stairs to the roof of the Avengers tower. It wasn't often he brought you here and stayed this late, but damn did the stars look so much better from here than at your apartment. Bucky smiled at you, holding up a bottle of Tony's favorite liquor, immediately causing a loud laugh to tumble from your lips.
"I can't believe I get to be the one to make you laugh like that," Bucky smiled, reaching out to grab your wrist and pull you to his chest, "Just you and me, for the rest of time."
You giggled, "Why don't you make it official then, Bucko? Put a ring on it, and we can get a nice big home. By some lake as you've always wanted."
"Mmm, sounds nice. Doesn't it, doll?"
You nodded, "We can get a cat! You can deny wanting one all you want, but I see the way you look at all those cats on your phone."
"Hey!" Bucky laughed, "If we get a cat, we'll need to give the little thing some kids to play with."
You nodded again, gazing up at Bucky with the biggest smile on your face, "Oh, definitely."
"So, we get married, get a nice home by a lake, a cat, some kids. We'll have to get Steve and Wanda to live close by so they can watch the kids when I want you all to myself."
A loud laugh tumbled from your lips once more as you lightly smacked Bucky's arm, "James Buchanan Barnes! That's incredibly inappropriate!"
"Don't act like you don't love it, doll."
In another life
I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
You pulled back from Tony's chest, the sound of Bucky calling his name making it clear to you the older man had been trying to shield you from Bucky. Sam grabbed your hand, pulling you into his side as Tony spun, holding open his arms for a 'bro hug' from Bucky.
You stood awkwardly, admiring the girl beside Bucky. How'd you get here? You bit the inside of your cheek. Your eyes flicked to the crowd as you wondered when all this had become okay. When did it become that you were no longer Bucky's girl? When did it become okay for you and Bucky to break all those promises you made? When did everything turn so incredibly bitter that you forgot all the good there was worth fighting for? When did it turn from you two against the world to you two against each other?
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were
The one that got away
"Oh.. uh Sam, you didn't tell me she was coming," Bucky's shocked tone startled you as Sam squeezed your side.
"Well, you didn't tell me you were coming," Sam fired back in a playful tone.
You immediately plastered a fake smile, directing your attention to the girl beside Bucky, "Hey, I'm (y/n)."
"It's nice to meet you! I'm Chole!" The girl smiled, shaking your hand before giving Sam a quick hug.
Bucky and you locked eyes for a second, making you wonder why everyone had hidden this from you. You wanted to pull Bucky aside, tell him how incredibly sorry you were for everything, how you wanted him back, and you would make everything work this time around. You didn't want Bucky to be the one that left. You wanted Bucky to be the one you grow old with. But, you simply flashed him an all too fake smile, allowing him to pull his wife away and into Tony's party.
I was June and you were my Johnny Cash
Never one without the other, we made a pact
Sometimes when I miss you I put those records on
"Oh god, I can't stand her," Tony groaned the moment they were out of ear's reach.
Sam rolled his eyes, "Come on, Tony. She's a nice girl."
"No," Tony groaned, "It pains me, physically pains me, to admit this... but (y/n) and Bucky, they were one of the best couples I've ever seen, up until the end. Of course, Pep and I are better, sorry Kid, but Pepper and I are like Beyonce and Jay Z. But, I mean... you two were Johnny Cash and June!"
Sam laughed loudly as you snorted, rolling your eyes, "We were pretty inseparable, despite him always being so distant after those first like six months."
"You still play those records?" Sam questioned suddenly, making you nod, "God, he made you so old school. Listening to records, sheesh! You'll be going gray soon!"
Leave it to Sam and Tony to try to make you laugh. You shook your head with a smile. You knew they'd always succeed.
Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown singing the blues
It's time to face the music, I'm no longer your muse
"He got his tattoo removed," Sam whispered to you from his spot where you'd migrated to the bar.
You raised your eyebrows, subconsciously rubbing the tiny heart on the inside of your left wrist, "I guess it was bound to happen."
"Talk to me..."
"I hate this!" You groaned, tears welling in your eyes, "I still love him, Sam. I know that probably makes me stupid. I just... I spent so long focusing on all the bad, trying to reason with myself why the breakup was necessary. But now, I'm thinking off all the good, and how much was left to be saved," You sniffled as you wiped tears, "How much I still love him, how I want it to work out. I just... he's not mine, and I'm not his, and I'm not even the thing to make him happy anymore and..."
All this money can't buy me a time machine, no
Can't replace you with a million rings, no
I should've told you what you meant to me (whoa)
'Cause now I pay the price
Sam pulled you into his chest as a soft cry left your lips as you both sat completely unaware of Bucky right behind you two. He'd heard more than enough of your confession and now felt his own eyes welling with tears at the sight in front of him. He quickly turned, opting to go to the other bar to get Chole her drink.
Bucky knew he messed up, but he had been so sure you'd hate him for it all he tried to replace you. He realized now. Nothing could replace you. Not any amount of the money he owned, not any home, or any pets. Not even any wedding ring he put on any woman. Nothing would replace the hole that'd were left in his soul from you, and he realized now he should've taken the chance at all those Stark parties.
He should've told you what you meant to him, even if he was terrified that you were going to hate him. It was no excuse for him to avoid you, to avoid the chance of getting you back. Because now, as he ordered another woman's favorite drink instead of yours, Bucky wished he made you stay because anything was better than a life without you.
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were
The one that got away

Losing Everything (Bucky x Reader)
A/N: Okay, okay,  I know I did one kinda like this before, but I was feeling like writing more angst today, so bear with me. Also, the ending is different, so... yep. Hope you enjoy it. :)
WARNINGS: idk, angst x 10000000, but that’s about it.;)
---
It hurt to breath.
It hurt to move, it hurt to blink, it even hurt to think.
What she would give for it all to go away.
Here she lay, a crumpled mess on the ground as the raging fight continued around her.  Her eyes stung with unshed tears, as they stared wearily up into the luminous grey clouds above her.
The only thing she could think about now was her boyfriend, her Bucky, who assumed she was safely tucked in bed beside him when in fact she was laying nearly dead in the worst place she could imagine.
A small sob escaped her lips, and she winced as a sharp bolt of pain ran through her body. The dark clouds slowly started to fill her own vision, and she knew that her consciousness, if not her own life, was almost gone.
A loud voice grew closer to her, and her eyes slowly moved to fall upon Steve Rogers. A small trail of blood ran from a scratch on his cheek and his eyes were wide with concern and slightly... with fear.
“Y/N, Y/N, can you hear me?” His voice was almost panicked, as he scanned over his teammates injuries, his heart almost stuck in his throat as he noticed the awkward angle that her arm was at, and the bruising around her throat.
“S-Steve....” she mumbled, frowning slightly as she turned her head slightly to the side. “Where’s Bucky?”
“He’s at home, remember? Where he wanted you to be, but you decided to come along anyway.” Steve brushed accidentally against her arm, and she let out a groan. “I’m so sorry. We’re going to get you some help.”
“Did we win at least?” Y/N murmured as her body was lifted up into his arms gently.
“It won’t count until I know you’re okay.” Steve replied softly as he brought her on board the jet. “We’re going to get you back to Bucky. You just got to stay awake for me.”
Y/N’s breath hitched in her throat suddenly, her chest feeling incredibly tight as her body went stiff in his hold. “S-Steve....”
“What’s wrong???” His voice was panicked, and he put her down before hovering over her anxiously. “Doll, what’s happening?”
She would never wish this on anyone, not even her worst enemy. It felt as thought electricity was running through her veins,  her lungs felt as thought they were on fire, and her mind was a mixture of both. But she wasn’t able to tell him, as much as she tried.
“Tony! We need to get back to the tower, now!”
Time went by too slow, but too fast at the same time. At moments, Y/N couldn’t understand what Steve was saying, his lips moving way too fast. But at others, it felt like her end was near, and her heart nearly broke as she thought of Bucky.
Bucky had begged her to stay, to not risk her life for a stupid mission that Steve could’ve done with Tony on his own. But she had wanted to prove herself, especially to Tony who thought of her only as a child that would only get in the way. So... Y/N decided to solve this problem the only way she knew how... to slip out when he was sleeping.
She had planned on apologizing, to make it up in one way or another. They had plenty of time left on this earth, and Y/N would find a way. But now... she didn’t even know if she would be able to say goodbye to her love.
Y/N grasped Steve’s arm and he looked down at her.
“B-Bucky.” She managed to get out, and his eyes immediately filled with sadness. “Tell h-him-”
“Hang on, doll.” He shook his head, as he tried his hardest to figure out how to help her. “We’re not saying our goodbyes yet.”
As much as she wanted to say more, her body wouldn’t allow her to.  The darkness started to come in again, and as much as she wanted to stay, she knew there was no point in fighting it anymore. It would come for her no matter how hard she would fight.
Her eyes focused on Steve, watching the panic spreading across his face with each passing minute that he tried to fight to save her life. It shouldn’t be him who would deliver the news to her boyfriend, but it would be him. She could only pray that Bucky would understand.
With a sad smile, Y/N reached out and brushed Steve’s face gently, causing his eyes to meet hers. “T-Take... care... of him.”
Tears filled his eyes and he nodded softly as her hand dropped back to her side. She smiled sadly, before breathing once more and letting the darkness consume her.
---
The plane landed five minutes later, and Bucky was waiting. He wasn’t angry... he was furious. He was ready to beat the living shit out of Steve, and to reprimand Y/n for what she had done. He was ready... he had plenty of time to plan it out.
The door opened, and before Bucky could say a word, a frazzled Tony Stark quickly exited the plane, holding a limp figure in his arms. He was out of sight before Bucky could say a word, and he froze as he watched Steve exiting the plane. His eyes were red, and he was trembling slightly as he approached Bucky.
“You better fucking tell me that wasn’t Y/N Tony was carrying.”  His voice was deadly calm, his anger seeping underneath as he made dead eye contact with his best friend. “You better tell me that she’s still inside that goddamn plane.”
A sob escaped Steve’s lips, and Bucky’s demeanor broke. Not even half a second later, Steve was on the floor, his nose bleeding from the blow that Bucky had struck.
“Why did you fucking let her stay?!” Bucky’s voice was almost at a scream. “You should’ve sent her back!’”
“S-She wanted to prove Tony wrong.” Steve managed to get out as he wiped away his tears. “I couldn’t convince her to leave. “
“Y/N looked almost dead when Tony carried her off the plane! She couldn’t handle that, not while I was there!”  Something changed in Steve’s eyes, and Bucky noticed. “What?”
“Nothing...” he mumbled, and pulled himself off the floor.
“No. No more lies... what is it?” Bucky grabbed him by the arm to hold him still.
Steve looked at his best friend sadly before saying, “She stopped breathing on the plane... I don’t know if she’s going to be okay.”
Bucky’s breath hitched in his throat, and he let go of Steve’s arm. His heart nearly stopped in his chest, and he did not know what to do next.
“Buck... I tried my best... I-I didn’t know what else to do... I-”
“Stop.” He fixed his gaze on Steve. “This is all your fucking fault! Why didn’t you save her?!”
“I tried.” Steve’s voice was filled with tears and desperation as he looked at Bucky. “I tried to keep an eye on her when we were on the mission, but one of them just took her down, threw her around like a rag doll. There was nothing I could do after she blacked out.”
Bucky shook his head as he turned and began to walk away. “You should’ve sent her back.”
“She is old enough to make her own decisions, Buck. She doesn’t need her boyfriend to make them for her.”
“Clearly she wasn’t thinking when making this one!” He whirled back around, fuming. “And neither were you, when you let her fight!”
“I’m sorry.”
“Apologizing doesn’t do anything.” Bucky’s eyes began to water, and he turned around before adding, “Nothing will be the same if she’s gone. “
---
Bucky walked into the medical ward, finding his girlfriend laying in a hospital bed, connected to various machines. His heart nearly kept out of his chest as he saw her chest moving.
She was breathing... she was alive.
“ How is she doing?” Bucky asked, his eyes scanning down her body, taking in each bruise and the cast wrapped around her left arm.
“Mr. Barnes...” the doctor hesitated, before continuing. “There is something I need to tell you.”
Whatever happiness he had felt a few moments ago vanished in a split second. He closed his eyes before nodding. “What is it?”
“We have ran multiple tests, and unfortunately, we have had to declare Ms. Y/L/N as braindead.”
That one sentence completely shattered whatever stability he had left. A sob escaped his lips, but he covered his mouth, forcing whatever emotion he wanted to set free to stay hidden.
“We know its a lot to process...” the doctor added gently, as Bucky moved to sit in the chair next to Y/N’s bed. “But the kindest thing you can do for her now is to take her off the machines, and let her go.”
Bucky opened his eyes, and looked over at his girlfriend. Her face had lost a little of its color, and her bruises were very prominent. But if anything... it looked like she was asleep. There was still life in her body.
“Are you sure she’s gone? There’s nothing more you can do?” Bucky asked quietly, moving to take her hand in his.
“We are quite certain, Mr. Barnes. “
Bucky bit his lip gently before saying, “Can I have a minute with her alone?”
“Of course. Have all the time you need.”  after the sound of footsteps retreating grew silent, Bucky moved to sit on the edge of the bed.
“You promised me you wouldn’t go.” His voice was a broken whisper. “You stayed in my bed, promising that you would be there in the morning and that you’d always be with me. But you left me anyway.”
Tears pooled in his eyes and he let them fall freely.
“Maybe you had some heartwarming apology for me if you had come back alright.” He shrugged as he looked away for a moment. “And I’m sure that I would’ve accepted it, no questions asked. But now I’ll never get to hear it... I’ll never get to hear you say that you love me again.”
Bucky leaned forward and tucked a strand of her hair behind hear ear before letting out a gentle sight.
“I would trade anything in the world to hear your laugh again.” He smiled sadly. “Or even to hear you yell about how big of an asshole I am.  I just want to hear your voice again, doll.  And I wanted to have you in my life forever.”
He pulled out a box from his pocket, sniffling as he opened it to reveal a diamond ring inside.
“I would give anything... to marry you right now.” Bucky closed it again, before continuing. “Even if it was just at a courthouse, knowing that you would be mine for the rest of my days would be all I ever needed.”
Bucky took a deep breath, before leaning closer to kiss her lips gently.
“I suppose this is the part where I say goodbye.” He closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against Y/N’s. “And I never thought I would have to. But here I am...”
Behind him, Steve had approached the room, and was leaning against the doorway, his heart breaking as he watched his friend say goodbye to his true love.
“I love you, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N. And I always will. One day, I'll find you again, and then my heart will be fixed. “ Bucky grabbed Y/N’s hand and gently placed it on his chest. “Until then, I won’t ever fall in love with anyone else, because you are the only person I want, doll.  Rest easy, Y/N. I’ll see you in my dreams.”
Bucky kissed her again, deeper than before, hoping so dearly that her eyelids would flutter open, and that she would be alright. But he knew that it wouldn’t happen, and his heart broke even more at the lack of a response from her body.
With a gentle sigh, he stood up from the bed and walked towards the door. His body froze as he saw Steve, and his sadness morphed into anger.
“Bucky...” Steve swallowed the lump growing in his throat. “I’m so sorry.”
“Just stay away from me.” Bucky whispered, before walking past him without another word.
Steve could only watch as he walked away before turning to see Y/N’s body laying in the hospital bed.
Not only had he lost his friend, but he had also lost Bucky Barnes, the only person who could really understand his story.
He had lost everything.

A/N 2: Okay, y’all, this hit my feels when I was writing it, so I hoped you liked it. :’)  Have a good day

Day By Day (Bucky x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: Hey y’all. I was having a... rough few days. I’m starting to get back into the swing of things, but I just started my summer class last week. As for updates, I will be trying to get an update out every Sunday guaranteed, up until the end of June. Then I'm going to Europe for six weeks to study for my university, and I don’t know how often I’ll have wifi/opportunities to update. For that time, it’ll just be up to the circumstances I am in, but then, I'll create a better schedule as I start school. Thanks for being patient with my next update. I hope you like it.

Y/N’s POV
Every time I thought about it, my heart grew heavy with the pain of loss. At each reminder that my best friend was gone, whether it was through the news or from whispers on the street, the threat of bursting into tears grew worse and worse.
Captain America was dead.
It had been two and a half weeks, and it felt like it was only yesterday.  I woke up each day only praying that Steve would walk through the doors of the Tower, assuring us that he had was alright. But that moment never came.
Eventually, I found myself locked up in my room, not leaving unless I needed food or a glass of water. Everyone tried to convince me to talk to them, but I had no desire to do so. They wouldn’t understand. They couldn’t understand.
But why would they? They didn’t see their best friend jump in front of them, watching as he was shot in the chest thirteen times in a matter of seconds. They didn’t have to hold him in their arms, watching the life fade from his eyes as he struggled to breathe. They didn’t watch Steven Grant Rogers, the bravest man I had ever known, sacrifice himself for them when his life meant so much more than theirs.
All the blood, all the tears, and all the pain. If I could have taken his place, I would have in a heartbeat. It hurt to remember, but I knew that I could never forget.
“Come on, Steve” My voice was only a hopeless whisper as I tried to drag him out of range of fire. My grip tightened underneath his arms and I pulled harder as the sound of bullets firing grew closer.“You gotta help me here.”
The bullets had already hit his battered body, blood soaking through his uniform. His face was pale and his skin clammy. It was not looking good. But I knew that if I could get him back to the ship, there was hope that I could get him back to the Tower in time to save him.
“Y-Y/N...” His voice was slurred as he gripped one of my hands. “S-Stop.”
“What do you mean stop? We have to get back! We need to save you!” I did not stop moving as I responded, seeing the ship a short distance away. “We’re almost there. Come on, hang in-”
“Y/N.” His voice was stern, and I looked down at him. His eyes were full of pain and sadness as he stared up at me. “I-I’m not... I-I’m not...”
My eyes began to swim with tears as I slowly let myself slide to the ground, his body in my arms as his eyes faced the sky. They focused on mine as the tears began to slip down my cheeks, and he slowly raised his hand to wipe away the droplets.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” I whimpered, as he winced in pain from his wounds. “You should have just let them hit me.”
“No.” He shook his head slowly. “N-Never.”
“I don’t want you to leave.” I croaked, my voice thick with emotion as I watched the light slowly start to die in my best friend’s eyes. “I want to save you.”
His hand fell from my face and moved to mine, squeezing gently. His lips, dry and cracked, parted to utter a few more broken sentences. “Bucky. T-Tell him I’m... I-I’m sorry I c-can’t be there for him.”
“I will,” I murmured softly. “I’ll be there for him, always. I promise.”
Steve opened his mouth to say something else, but he was silenced by his pain. His chest heaved slightly with effort, and I knew that his end was near. My face crumpled as his eyes filled with panic and realization.
The gunshots grew closer, and I turned my head to see HYDRA agents rounding the corner. His hand squeezed mine and my eyes turned back to him.
“G-Go.” The words escaped his lips, and I kissed his forehead gently before standing up and running towards the ship as fast as I could.
“The Great Captain America is dead!”
I couldn’t help but cry harder as the cheers continued loudly from where I left Steve but made it the ship before flying back home safely.
I stared up at the ceiling in my room one morning, feeling completely empty inside. The memory of Steve’s death had woken me up in the form of a nightmare, and I refused to let myself fall back asleep.
I guess nowhere was safe from my pain, not even in my unconscious.
A gentle knock caught my attention, and I didn’t even bother to get up, let alone look over.
“Y/N? It’s me.” My boyfriend’s voice called gently through the door and I closed my eyes.  I hadn’t even let Bucky in to see me.
It was my fault that Steve was dead, and now that Steve was dead... Bucky did not have his best friend with him, the one person who understood what he was going through. I took that away from him, and the guilt continued to mount the longer I avoided speaking with him.
“Please, doll, it’s been weeks. You’ve hardly eaten, and haven’t spoken to anyone. I’m worried about you.” His voice cracked slightly, and so did my heart at the thought of causing him any more pain. “I can’t lose anyone else. Please let me in.”
After a moment's hesitation, I pulled myself off the bed and walked to the door, unlocking it and opening it to find my boyfriend waiting outside. His eyes were sad and rimmed with red as he gazed at me.
Not even a moment later, he stepped into the room and wrapped his strong arms around me, pulling me close to his chest. His warmth radiated around me, and I wanted so badly to wrap my arms around him, but I knew I didn’t deserve this... his affection, his care. I didn’t deserve anything.
“Please...” His voice was a mere whimper, and I nodded into his chest before wrapping my arms around him tightly, holding onto him for dear life. After a few moments of silence in our embrace, he began to speak again. “We need to talk about this, love. This isn’t healthy.”
“If it weren’t for me...” I pulled away from him, and walked back to my bed, sitting down. I leaned my head back against the backboard, my eyes closing in pain “Steve would be alive.”
Footsteps. sounded on the ground and a few moments later, a cold hand touched my cheek. “Y/N, open your eyes.”
I did as he said, and bit my lip to hold back tears as I stared into his gorgeous blue orbs.
“It was not your fault.” His voice was gentle, but stern and his hand made it unable to look away.  “It was all HYDRA. You did nothing wrong.”
“If they had shot me instead, he would be alive.” My voice was thick with grief and I choked back a sob as I continued. “I would change places with him in a heartbeat if I could. His life means so much more than mine does”
“Do not say that ever again.” his voice was much more stern now, and his gaze was hard. “Your life is not devalued by Steve’s.”
“The world wouldn't have noticed if I was gone, Buck.” I gazed at him numbly. “There wouldn’t be newspaper articles, a statue built, parades in my honor. Honestly, the only ones who would have noticed would have been all of you. “
“And we would have all been absolutely destroyed.” Bucky’s eyes filled with tears. “Especially for Steve, but even more for me. You have no idea how I would have felt if I had lost you, Y/N.”
“Why aren’t you mad at me?” I asked quietly. “You lost your best friend, the only person who knows what you’ve been through. I felt like you would have been absolutely enraged, furious. “
It was silent for a moment before Bucky spoke again. “Scoot over.”
I moved over in the bed, leaving a space large enough for him to sit next to me. His right arm moved to wrap around my shoulder, and I leaned my head against his.
“You are both incredibly important to me, for so many reasons.” His lips touched the top of my head gently. “And losing either of you is absolutely devastating. In Steve, I found a friend. A best friend, who never doubted the goodness that I had inside of me even when I was controlled by HYDRA. I couldn’t ask for anything better in a friend.”
I sniffed gently, a single tear falling down my cheek as the sunlight began to filter in through the shades.
“And in you, I found love. I found happiness in its truest form, through the months I have spent with you and through all the memories we have had. I know I couldn’t find that in anyone else, no matter how hard I could look if I ever lost you. It would be unbearable to lose you, doll. And yes, my heart has yet to heal from Steve’s death, but I am not angered. I did not lose both of you, and for that, I am thankful.”
It was silent for a few moments before I asked, “Does it ever stop hurting?”
“I don’t think so. I think that you just make room for it. But not like this, doll. This is unhealthy and it is destroying you. Steve would not want this for you. I don’t want this for you. And neither does anyone else in this tower.”
“I know.” I nodded, my voice thick with tears. I sat up and looked up at my boyfriend through teary eyes. “We’ll just have to take it day by day.”
He smiled down at me sadly and nodded before leaning in and kissing my forehead gently. “Day by day.”

For Once... (Bucky x Reader)
A/N: Fluff. Major fluff. That’s all I can say. XD But enjoy. I’ll try to update again in the next few days.
For once... he was still.
The only movement was his gentle breathing as he watched the sun slowly slip into the horizon.
For once... he was at peace.
A small smile touched the corners of his lips as he could hear familiar footsteps tip toe towards him. “I hope you two weren’t planning on scaring me.”
Two sharp gasps and a burst of giggles were followed by faster footsteps and Bucky turned around just in time for two small figures to leap right into his arms, almost knocking him down. He grunted softly as he managed to catch both of them, before stumbling back a step.
“How did you know we were coming?” The first girl asked, her brown hair pulled back into a messy pony tail and her (Y/E/C) eyes lighting up with mischief.
“I’m your daddy, Erica.” Bucky chuckled, and kissed her forehead. “I know everything.”
“You can’t know everything!” The other girl protested, her blue eyes filled with disbelief. “Momma says that sometimes you-”
“We don’t need to tell Daddy everything, do we?”
Bucky turned to see Y/N standing at the door to the house. A soft smile played at her lips as she gently placed a hand on her growing bump.
“Well... now I’m curious.” Bucky chuckled and looked back at his youngest daughter. “What did Mommy say, Riley?”
“She said she loves you, but sometimes you act like you don’t have a brain.”
“Riley!”
Bucky laughed, before turning to look at his wife. Her face was slightly pink, and she looked like she was ready to run at any second, even though she was almost eight months pregnant.
“Your Momma is right, girls. If I'm honest... she’s know everything.”
“I don’t think that’s true.” Y/N rolled her eyes as Bucky placed his two daughters on the ground before walking over to wrap his arms around her. “But I do know that I love your father very much.”
“Ewwwww.”
Bucky turned his head to see his daughter’s face twist in disgust.
“You girls better go get ready for bed... or else you’ll have to see more of this.”
“I’d rather be in bed. Come on, Riley, let’s go.” With that, the two girls raced off the patio and into the cozy two story home behind them.
The silence that followed was comfortable and after a moment, Bucky moved to rest his metal hand on Y/N’s growing tummy.
“Who knew that I would ever get to live this life? After all the things I’ve-”
“Don’t finish that sentence, James Buchanan Barnes.” Y/N gazed up at him. “You deserve the world. “
“Do I?” He smiled sadly down at his wife.
“Absolutely.” She leaned up and kissed his lips softly. “I’m just thankful that I get to have you and the girls in my life... and in a month or so, this little boy.”
The doubt in Bucky began to evaporate at the mention of his son, who would arrive in a matter of a few short weeks. He smiled brightly before kissing her again and looking out into the vast open scenery around him.
For once... he was truly happy.

Breathe (Bucky x Reader)
A/N: Well... I feel like a total idiot. I will once again apologize for a lack of updates, but if I’m completely honest... college is kicking my ass rn. I’m on my last day of finals and it’s like...  where the hell did the semester go? Anyway, after that, I will have six weeks off, no classes and no commitments, and I will be updating more often then, believe me. :) I will give you guys this  imagine for now, and then hopefully come up with some bigger ones during my break. Thanks for bearing with me!
Also, disclaimer: Just like all of y’all, I don’t know what happens to Bucky after Infinity War, so I’m just kinda guessing. XD
enjoy!

Breathe.
The air was slowly slipping away, as her vision began to grow darker around the edges. Her ears were ringing, and she struggled to hold her head up as she watched the large figure advance towards her.
Breathe.
Short little breaths of air escaped her lips as she pushed herself backwards, away from the chaos. Sharp bolts of pain struck her elbows as they scraped on the hard floor in her attempts to escape. Several bullets had pierced her side, and blood was steadily seeping out onto the floor.
Breathe.
She had to remind herself to do so, because it was no longer a priority for her. All around her, her friends were fighting to the bitter end, taking on who or whatever stood in the way of defeating Thanos. All Y/N wanted to do was take down this man, who had taken her boyfriend away from her forever in a matter of seconds... in a snap of his fingers.
Breathe.
A large hand grasped her ankle, and yanked her forward. Her lips parted in response but whatever words wanted to leave her mouth were silenced as the hand moved to grasp her throat tightly.  She coughed as her nearly broken body was raised from the ground and her eyes met the gaze of Thanos.
“So... this the infamous Y/N Y/L/N.” A humorless chuckle passed his lips. “If only I had control over who could’ve disappeared when I snapped my fingers.”
“E-Even if I wasn’t here...” Her eyes narrowed as she glared down at him. “Someone would’ve lead these people to stop you.”
“Mm... maybe. But none of them have the fire that you do.” Thanos’ hand tightened around her neck and a gasp escaped her lips. “You lost someone close to you... not a friend, but a lover. You’d stop at nothing to get your revenge, a life for a life.”
Tears pricked at Y/N’s eyes, not from the pain but the memories. The only thing she could think about anymore was Bucky, and how she had watched him disintegrate into a million pieces in front of her very eyes. The confusion in his eyes, and horror that ran through her body... she did not want to relive it again. But here she  was doing it, all thanks to this monster.
“Bucky, was it?” Y/N’s  back was slammed into a wall, and she winced slightly at the pain. “At least, that’s what I had heard. The metal arm freak of wonder.”
“Shut up.” She spluttered as his grip slightly tightened at her words.
“If you couldn’t save him then, what makes you think that you can save the rest of the world now?” A booming thunderous laugh filled Y/N’s ears and she flinched slightly.
Before she could respond, something heavy hit Thanos in the side, and his grip on her throat released. Y/N collapsed on the ground, her heartbeat thundering in her ears, and her vision speckled with black dots.
Breathe
Y/N’s ears were ringing, and her world was spinning. She tried to make sense of all of the movement in front of me, but she could not.
“Y/N.” a soft familiar voice whispered her my ear.  Y/N jumped slightly, and glanced to her right, her heart shattering as she saw what could only be the soft, handsome face of her Bucky.
“You aren’t here.” She whimpered softly. “This isn’t real.”
“You don’t have to hold on anymore, doll.” Bucky murmured quietly, his hand moving to cup my face. “You lost a lot of blood.”
“I can’t... not until I kill him for taking you away from me.”  A soft sob escaped her lips, and she tried her best to hide her tears. “That monster took my world away from me.”
“I know.” Bucky leaned forward and rested his forehead against Y/N’s “And he took mine from me. But this isn’t our fight anymore, doll.  Steve and the others... they’ll save the world. All I ever wanted was to keep you safe, and I didn’t do a good job.”
“Bucky...” She whispered softly.
“Let go, Y/N/N...” Bucky looked Y/N in the eyes, and all she could feel in that moment was love. “Come with me, and we’ll be safe.”
“Okay.” she whispered, and leaned against his shoulder as she felt herself slowly start to slip away. The figures moving in front of her turned into blurs, the sounds around her became muffled, and everything became disoriented. But the one thing that didn’t change was the comforting voice of Bucky at her side, and for once, Y/N knew that everything would be okay.
And so... for the final time... she breathed... and let herself drift away.
