Summary | You just found out you're having a baby, but since Loki is away on a long undercover mission you can't tell him about it just yet. Instead, you turn to your best friend, Natasha, to come up with the perfect way to tell Loki you're expecting. Once everything is in place and Loki is back home, you can't wait to reveal the news and see his reaction to your growing family.

A/n | This one-shot is written for day 8 of my Fluffcember 2023 Challenge. Writing for Loki is always a lot of fun for me (and I often wonder why I don't do it more...), so this was a hoot to write! You're sitting on the bathtub's edge with your head in your hands, waiting impatiently for the timer to go off. The box clearly said to wait five minutes for the results, but these same five minutes feel like absolute torture.

And to top it all off, you're currently going through this moment alone because your fiancé, Loki, is on an undercover mission with no way to reach him. The universe's timing couldn't possibly have been worse.

When the alarm finally goes off, you practically launch forward, grabbing the test and looking at the result. Your suspicions are immediately confirmed when the test shows two prominent red lines: you're pregnant.

You can't help but let a sob escape from your chest because while you're thrilled, you're also sad that you can't share this moment with the person you're dying to share this with.

The topic of children hasn't come up too often in your relationship, though the few times it did, you two always came to the same conclusion: as long as you're still Avenging, you won't bring a child into this world.

But this plan has a significant shift, and you might step away from the Avengers sooner than anticipated. It's not that you haven't thought about it, but now that you're officially pregnant, that idea might become a reality.

First things first, though, you'll find Natasha so you can talk things through with her. To make this task easier on yourself, ask the AI for help.

''FRIDAY? Please tell me where Ms. Romanoff is at this moment. I need to talk to her.''

''It appears that Ms. Romanoff is currently in the living room with Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes. Do you want me to notify her of your arrival?''

''No, thank you,'' you tell the AI before changing into comfortable clothes; you can't exactly go out there in your underwear.

You left the test in your bathroom for now, and you head towards the living room to find Steve and Bucky cuddling on one end of the couch and Nat sitting on the other side, her body turned to them.

They're in the middle of a discussion about the next movie night since it's Steve's turn to pick the movie. He always chooses the same film, and Nat tries to convince him to pick something else, but she might be losing this discussion.

''She'll agree with me, won't you?'' Nat asks as you walk into the living room, and your eyebrows instantly shoot up, seeing how you didn't know what was happening.

''I'm sure I will, but that's not what I'm here for. I'm here to borrow you for a while,'' you say as you point towards Natasha, who gladly gets up to come with you.

''So, what's up?'' she asks when you lead her to your bedroom, where the test is still lying. The closer you get, the more nervous you get, but if there's anyone you trust with this news, it's Nat.

''Well... I- I have some news to share with you,'' you tell her, unsure where to start. She stops you in the hallway and forces you to look at her.

''Are you and Loki doing okay? Did something happen between you two?'' she asks, her brows furrowed in concern, but you quickly assure her that's not the case.

''No, god no! We're okay, we're doing great, actually,'' you say with a big smile, which Nat immediately reciprocates. All her worries instantly melt away, and how she feels about you and Loki is visible.

''But... there will be something changing between us though, and I want to show you exactly what,'' you say, and before you know it, you're in your bedroom, showing her the still very positive pregnancy test.

''Oh my god, I'm going to be an Auntie?! I can't believe it!'' she asks, and you nod your head before he flings herself around your neck, squealing in pure excitement.

When the first excitement finally ebbed away for a bit, you sat down on your bed with the pregnancy test still in your hand, and then the realization came flooding back that you must also tell your fiancé.

''How should I tell him the good news? Because I don't just want to spring this onto him, it's our first baby, so I want to make it special; I want to make it something he will never forget,'' you say, and an idea instantly sparks in Nat's head.

''I have the perfect idea, and you don't need many things for it!'' she says, and that's how the idea of how you're going to tell Loki you're pregnant is formed.

Exactly one week later, Loki returned from his mission, and after his shower, he changed into something comfortable. Now you're cuddling on your shared bed, making up for lost time.

''I love you so much, you know that? I can't believe I had to miss my beautiful wife-to-be for nearly two months...'' he tells you as he places a soft kiss in your hair.

''I missed you too, but I have a little present for you now that you're back,'' you tell him, and you wiggle out of his grasp, ready to grab the gift box you've prepared with Nat over the last week.

You grab an emerald green box with a silver bow around it and hand it to your future husband as you sit cross-legged in front of him. You watch intently as he unwraps it, lifting the lid, and he watches the sides of the box fall open.

Inside are the positive pregnancy test, baby shoes, and your small letter. Loki picks up the pregnancy test, and you can see tears form at his waterline.

''Loki? Is everything-'' ''I'm going to be a Dad?'' he asks in a small voice, accidentally interrupting you mid-sentence.

''Well, how about you read the letter?'' you tell him, and he grabs it, folding it open.

Dear future husband,

When you read this, you already know I am officially three months pregnant with your baby. Our little River will be born around Easter, and I cannot wait to meet them.

I'm very grateful to see our family grow, and I am forever thankful that you have given me the wonderful gift of our bunny. Our family will officially be complete once they're here, and I hope they will be just like you. Perfect in every way.

I love you forever and always.

As he reads the letter, you can see a tear or two escaping, trickling down his pale white cheek onto the paper. He reads the letter three, four, maybe five times before putting it down and looking at you.

''I can't believe it, we're going to have a baby!'' he says excitedly, wiping the tears away with the back of his hand. He puts the present to the side so you can sit in his lap and cuddle him tightly.

That night, as you two are about to fall asleep, he pulls you with your back against his chest, and you let yourself melt into his touch. His large hand and long fingers are splayed over your belly, fiercely protecting it.

''I love you, hot mama,'' he tells you, and the new nickname has your cheeks heating up. And after exchanging a few more sweet nothings between you, you fall asleep in your future husband's arms.

You could not have wished for a better ending to this perfect day, and now all that's left to do is to wait for your little one to come into this world. But one thing is certain: River will be the perfect addition to your family.

I also love this pairing because it's not the usual love story. And you can interpret what he gives her at the break in the story any way you want- could just be cuddles, could be much more intimate...anything you like from him. Thank you all so much for reading! Warnings: it's really soft and sweet with a tinge of sad but it's a happy ending!

PS: this is how I picture my soft werewolf!Bucky in human form. Just beautiful and beefy and that hair and the beard and YUM!

“Tell me what it is that has you smiling like that doll.”

You walk into his open arms, tucking yourself against his chest and resting your cheek to his bare skin.

“I had the most wonderful dream,” you sigh, your smile fading.

“A dream,” he muses. “Tell me about it.”

After you remain silent for some time he strokes your back, gently coaxing you with every brush of his fingers.

“The sky stretched for miles in a brilliant expanse of cerulean blue, devoid of clouds. And the sun…it was dazzling, blessing everything in it’s path with it’s radiant warmth. My skin was glowing as I soaked it in and a soft breeze caressed it just enough to keep me cool…”

Bucky looks down at you, grasping your chin between his long fingers as he tilts your face up to meet his eyes. His brow is drawn in as his thumb sweeps across the outline of your lips.

“And?” he whispers.

“And the sun’s golden rays danced across the water, turning it into a dazzling stretch of blue and green where each gentle ripple was transformed into a glimmering ribbon of light that sparkled and swayed.”

A single red tear rolls down your cheek.

His thumb catches it and he brushes it away, resting his forehead to yours.

“You miss it,” he states sadly.

“So much.”

He presses a soft kiss to your temple, then to your cheek, moving to the other side to do the same before capturing your lips.

“If I could bring this dream to life, I would,” he murmurs against your lips.

“I know,” you answer, ghosting your mouth along his jaw and nipping lightly with your fangs.

Your lips continue to his ear, pressing a kiss just below before you run your nose down his neck with an inhale and rest your head to his shoulder.

“What would you have me do?” he asks. “Anything to have you smiling again doll.”

You fingers graze his forearm, the corded muscles flexing under your touch, then teasingly glide them higher until you reach his collarbone.

When you look up into his eyes, blue like the water you dreamed of, his lips twitch with a smirk and you feel the shift begin, soft fur growing beneath your fingertips. 

“As you wish,” he says, his voice already more of a growl.

The wind rushes past you, your heart pounding with excitement and anticipation. The air is rich with the scent of damp soil and pine and the light of moon filters through the entwined branches above, casting flittering shadows across the ground.

Suddenly, the forest opens up into a small clearing bathed in moonlight. Bucky slows down to a graceful trot, his ears perky and alert. Your breath catches at the sight before you.

“Bucky,” you whisper, slipping from his body but still holding tightly to his dark fur with one hand.

He stills and nudges you forward with his cold nose, staring at the cave entrance. You nod and move toward it, cocking your head when you hear a familiar sound.

You move slowly, taking in every noise and smell with your heightened senses. Bucky’s claws scrape quietly along the rocky floor, echoing off the walls as he follows closely behind and when you reach your destination, you stop dead in your tracks.

The scene is a symphony of darkness and light that unfolds beneath the soft glow of flickering candles and the light of the moon. There in the shadows the pool reveals itself, it’s water shimmering under the illumination of the countless candles surrounding it and an opening in the cave’s ceiling that allows the moon’s glow to infiltrate and bathe it all in a silvery glow.

The light flashes and glitters on the water’s surface, a mirror of liquid moonlight, moving with graceful fluidity. Every ripple becomes a cascade of sparkling diamonds, capturing the moonlight and transforming it into a thousand fleeting stars and each time a soft breeze floats on the air the candlelight falters, casting intricate patterns along the walls of the cave.

You whisper his name again, your voice breaking with emotion.

Then you hear him start to shift behind you, his bones realigning and fur receding. When you turn to look at him his muscles are still rippling under his skin, adjusting to his human form.

He strides toward you, his long hair brushing his shoulders as he bends to scoop you into his arms.

Your lips tremble as they brush his softly. “Thank you.”

He smiles against your lips and walks into the water, cradling you against his chest until you’re submerged up to your chin.

“You’ve given me everything,” you whisper, unwrapping yourself from his arms and spreading yourself out to float above the surface of the water.

“You are everything,” he murmurs.

It was difficult to rise and meet the day. Heavy were the burdens and challenges that awaited you. As much as the rays of sunshine beckoned for you to get up as the warmth touched your face, you refused to budge. Staying in bed was comforting. Easier. 

If sleep gave life to your dreams, why face reality?

Why did you have to get up?

“Open your eyes.”

You wished you could explain why it hurt to do so. Why it felt like you might break if you tried. You wanted some sort of relief. Answers to questions you hadn't begun to ask. You wanted to regain some sense of control and not feel like the build up inside of you would explode. 

Would it be so wrong to let it out?

“Please,” the gentle voice urged, patiently waiting. 

A man who would wait forever for you if you asked.

A pair of blue eyes bore into yours when you finally complied with his command. His loving gaze lifted some of the weight that settled in your chest. His smile alleviated it more, making it easier to take your next breath. He was one of the reasons why facing reality was better than any dream.

“There she is,” he whispered, cupping your cheek as you blinked the remaining sleep away. “Hey.”

“Hey, Bucky,” you whispered back, leaning into his touch before he brought his hand to your waist and pulled you closer. “You’re here.”

You half expected him to be on the floor with a pillow and sheet. Sleep wasn't easy for him to come by, especially on the nights when nightmares plagued him. He tossed and turned and had a hard time getting back to sleep when he abruptly woke up. The last thing he wanted to do was disturb your slumber. 

But you did your best to ease him through by being there. You took care of him. And some days he took care of you. Give and take. That’s what relationships should be. 

“I’ll always be here when you wake up,” he said when your eyes misted over. He pulled you closer, a look of desperation crossing his face when he saw your tears. “Are you okay?”

Words died on your tongue as you opened your mouth. You wanted to tell him you didn't know why today felt so heavy, but his presence made it better. You wished you could explain why you were pulling apart at the seams, but that his touch helped stitch you back together. He helped you without trying. 

When you were wide awake later, you’d remind him of how much you appreciated him. 

“I don't know,” you answered. 

He let out a breath. It was an answer he usually gave you, not the other way around. “Come here.”

He pressed a kiss on the top of your head when you laid it against his chest. You held him like this from time to time. You’d urge him to listen to the beat of your heart as you ran your fingers through his hair. It calmed him. 

Like the steady beat of his heart calmed you. 

But fear crept in like a slow poison when he gave you no reason to feel that way. It infected your confidence and securities with doubt. What if you were too much for him? What if he chose to walk away? Falling in love could feel terrifying when you didn't know where you’d land. 

As if he sensed your insecurity, he placed another kiss to the top of your head and renewed your faith that you’d be there to catch each other. 

“I love you and I’m thankful I have you by my side,” Bucky said, further affirming that he wouldn't give up on you for any reason. 

Just like you’d never give up on him. 

“I love you and I’m thankful for you, too,” you said, a tear sliding down your cheek before you hid your face in his chest. “But can we stay like this a bit longer? I know we need to get up, but I’m not quite ready.”

“We can stay here as long as you’d like,” Bucky promised. 

And when you were ready, you'd face the day together.

Usually, when either Bucky or you were sick, the other would be all healthy and good to take care of the other—making warm and delicious soup, giving the best snugs and cuddles. And just overall, be the most fantastic caretaker that would, to the best of their abilities, nurse them back to health.

But this time was the first where you and he were sick simultaneously as you'd both come down with a nasty cold. It proved to be quite challenging and annoying for both of you to be sick as you and he would, most of the time, have different needs for how to stay comfortable and for taking care of your symptoms. And you would snap at each other constantly.

Despite the thick fluffy sweater you were wearing while bundled up in a blanket on the sofa and cuddling close and tight to your sick boyfriend, you still shivered profusely and desperately clung to everything for that little bit of extra warmth. And Bucky was starting to complain that he was burning up.

“Doll, I feel like I'm in a furnace and dying,” he whined in a hoarse voice as he pushed himself away from you with his weak strength to sit on the opposite side of the sofa.

“No, please don't leave me,” you uttered weakly, “I'm so cold.”

“I can't. Just let me be. I'm so hot,” he said rather annoyingly as he situated himself on the other end and took off his warm sweater.

Luckily, Alpine jumped up to you and snuggled with you instead in the bundle of warmth while your grumpy boyfriend sat all cold and alone.

Bucky was coughing and sneezing like crazy for the last hour, and with the raging headache you were having, each noise from him was like an extra aching punch straight to your head.

“... ugh why is this happening to me?” Bucky whined after a violent coughing fit, and not a second later, he went straight on to have a sneezing fit.

You were absolutely losing it, almost at the brink of tears due to how in pain and uncomfortable you were. And since you had no energy to move, you had to endure Bucky's fits, but now, you've honestly had enough of it.

“Can you please just shut up, Bucky! My head's killing me! Please, can you just be a little bit quiet and more considerate,” you sobbed.

“I'm sorry, doll, but what do you want me to do? It's not like I can help it!” He uttered before he continued with his fits.

Taking one of the decorative pillows, you clamped it around your head and over your ears to block out his sounds.

After a week, you and Bucky were starting to feel much better and return to your true selves. And you both acknowledge that you'd been quite mean to one another while sick.

So after you both had a refreshing and much-needed shower, you apologized to each other.

“Bucky, I'm so sorry that I was so mean to you and yelled when you were having your fits,” you said while getting ready for bed, “I hope you know I didn't mean any of it. I love you.”

“Hey.” He made you stop what you were doing and turned you around to face him, palms cradling your cheeks. “It's ok, doll. We were both sick and not ourselves. I love you as well, and I'm sorry for leaving you all alone when you needed me the most.”

“It's ok,” you replied as you stood on your toes and wrapped your arms around his neck, your noses brushing, “let's just try and not get sick at the same time again, ok? It was not fun.”

“Definitely not,” he chuckled as he pressed a long and loving kiss to your lips, a sensation you’d both missed and craved for the past week while you were both sick.

Hi! So while I didn't partake in this year's kinktober (I wanted to but wasn't sure how my smut writing skills were yet) I am going to participate in Comfortember 2023! Prompt: making blankets together, from the fall writing prompts. A/N: For some reason when I got this request I couldn’t stop thinking about this tweet from a few years back. I edited it to fit the time line, but yeah, this took a turn. I hope you enjoy! Please send in more fall requests!

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader Word Count: 1,291 Synopsis: After sending Bucky an inappropriate tweet, the reader and Bucky make blankets to cuddle under.

Warnings: mentions of sex

“What are you smiling at?” Sam asked, dropping into the seat next to you.

“You know how we’ve been working on ingratiating Bucky into modern culture? Making him watch popular movies, try out stupid internet challenges, stuff like that?”

“Yeah.”

“I’ve been sending him tweets that I think are funny, and he almost never understands them,” you said, laughing to yourself. “And I just found a good one.”

“Show me.”

“I don’t know if I should,” you said, turning your screen off. 

“Why not?”

“It’s inappropriate.”

“Even better,” Sam said, reaching for your phone. You took it from his hands and let out a sigh. 

“Okay, I’ll show you, but don’t judge me too much, alright?”

“Deal.”

“Jesus,” Sam said, handing the phone back to you with wide eyes. 

“It’s totally gonna freak him out,” you said, smiling again. You sent the tweet to Bucky, eager to hear his response.

“You two have a very strange relationship.”

“You’re just jealous.”

“It’s not that,” he said with a smile, “But I am going to get out of here before he sees that and comes to find you.”

“Good idea.”

“Good luck.”

“I don’t understand,” Bucky said, sighing at you in the fleece fabric aisle of the craft store. 

“What’s not to understand? You pick out two fabrics and we make a blanket out of it.” You picked up a pattern with skulls but put it back down. 

“You sent me a tweet about,” he looked around the aisle, his voice dropping low, “Sucking dick.”

“I did. Did that make you think something was going to happen?” you asked, looking back at him with a smirk. Bucky rolled his eyes at you and looked at the multitude of fabrics in front of him.

You came up next to him, resting your chin on his shoulder, waiting until he looked at you. He gave you a tired smile. 

“Sometimes I feel like you try to confuse me.”

“It’s not my intent,” you said, giving him a soft smile. “How am I supposed to suck your dick under the covers if we don’t have any blankets to get under?” Bucky took in a breath and shook his head. He kissed your forehead.

“Alright, let’s pick out fabrics.”

“Yay! I’m thinking we do a fall theme?”

“Maybe,” Bucky said, seriously considering the fabrics in front of him. “But I do really like this purple unicorn one.” He pulled out the fabric and you snorted. The fabric in question was covered in a blue and purple galaxy design, with sparkly unicorns and shooting stars all over it. “Cute, right?”

“So cute,” you agreed. “Put it in the cart.”

For the next twenty minutes, the two of you went up and down the aisle, throwing different rolls of fabric in and out of the cart. In the end, you decided on a witchy cat pattern, a leafy one, a colorful pumpkin one, and the purple unicorn one. 

By the time you got home, you were both exhausted, but determined to make these blankets. You were sure that Bucky was excited about what might come after the blankets were made, but he was still excited to make the blankets.

You sat on the floor of your small apartment with him, pushing your furniture out of the way so that you could both lay the fabric out flat. You explained the process to Bucky and noticed a frown on his face.

“What?” you asked.

“I don’t think I’ve ever made anything.”

“What?”

“I don’t think I’ve ever made anything by hand, just for myself.”

“You made us dinner the other night.”

“That was because we needed to eat,” he said, looking down at his fabric. You frowned at him.

“Well, you better make a damn good blanket then,” you said. He looked up at you with a gentle look on his face. There was something unreadable there, something you hadn’t seen on his face in some time. “And if you don’t, well, we can still get under the fabric together.”

You stood up and Bucky gave you a confused look. “Where are you going?”

“We need proper music,” you said. You selected your Halloween playlist and Monster Mash started to play. You danced back to your sections of fabric and Bucky laughed at you.

For the next half hour, you danced and sang along to the Halloween playlist, offering Bucky tips as the two of you cut sections of your blankets and made a hundred little ties. You finished up first and moved over to sit by Bucky. You watched as he finished up the last of his ties, watched every movement of his hands almost hypnotically.

“You’re staring at me.”

“You are making impressive work,” you said with a shrug, “I like seeing you make those ties.”

Bucky just smiled at you and leaned in to kiss you. You closed your eyes as your lips met his, and in a instant, Bucky had the blanket over the two of you. In the dark of the blanket, Bucky’s hands were on you, exploring your skin as he kissed you passionately. 

You wrapped your arms around him and drew him in close, needing his body weight on top of you. His lips trailed down your neck, and just as you were about to moan his name, you heard the door slam shut. 

You both sat up, the blanket still over top of your heads. Bucky threw it off and you saw Sam standing in the doorway, a look of disgust on his face.

“This is a common space. You couldn’t wait to jump each other’s bones until you were in your room?” he asked. You laughed, hiding behind Bucky’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry, Sam,” he said,

With your mood officially killed, you stood up and followed Sam into the kitchen. When he barged in, you didn’t immediately see that he also brought Chinese food with him. While eating, you showed off your blankets to him and he seemed less than impressed.

Once you all were done eating, Sam left, not wanting to hang out for another moment with the two of you. 

“I’m exhausted,” you said when you shut the door behind Sam.

“Let’s go to sleep,” Bucky said, grabbing your newly made blankets off the back of the couch. In your bedroom, you flopped down on the bed and Bucky laid down next to you. He threw both of your fleece blankets around you, his under yours. 

“Yours is so much better than mine,” you said. Bucky laughed in disbelief. “It is. You should take up sewing or crocheting next.”

“I’ll think about it,” he said, pulling you into his arms.

“I could watch you use those needles all day long. Oh, that reminds me. I promised you--”

“It’s late, Y/N,” he said, kissing your forehead. “You look exhausted.”

“But I promised.”

“I don’t care. I’m exhausted, too. I just want to lay here in these beautiful blankets, well, my beautiful one and your mediocre one--”

“Shut up,” you said, shoving his shoulder playfully.

“I just want to lay with you in these blankets and get some sleep. It’s been a long day,” he said. You sighed in his arms and closed your eyes.

“Fine, but first thing in the morning, we’re going under the covers.”

“If you insist, I guess I won’t stop you,” he said, smiling against your forehead. “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.”

Y/n sat curled up on her couch, clutching a heating pad to her abdomen. The room was bathed in a soft, dim light, creating a calming atmosphere as she tried to find some relief from the discomfort that always seemed to accompany her during her period. She had reached for the TV remote, hoping to distract herself with a mindless sitcom, when a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.

Curiosity piqued, Y/n made her way to the door, slowly opening it to find Bucky Barnes standing there, a sympathetic smile on his face. Bucky had been Y/n's crush for what felt like an eternity, and she couldn't help the warm flutter of excitement in her chest whenever she saw him. He was always there, willing to lend an ear or offer a comforting shoulder to lean on.

"Hey, Y/n, I thought you might need some company," Bucky said softly, his voice full of concern. "Mind if I come in?"

Y/n's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly composed herself and stepped aside, gesturing for Bucky to enter. "Of course, Bucky. It's always nice to see you."

As Bucky walked into her home, he noticed the heating pad clutched tightly in her hands. "Is everything okay?" he asked gently, concern evident in his eyes.

Y/n bit her lip nervously, trying to dismiss her discomfort as something trivial. "Oh, it's just my time of the month. Nothing too serious, just the usual cramps."

Bucky's eyebrows furrowed, and without a moment's hesitation, he reached out and took the heating pad from her. "Here, let me help," he said kindly. "Why don't you sit down, and I'll take care of this."

Y/n was taken aback by his gesture, her cheeks flushing pink. She sank back down onto the couch, watching as Bucky moved to plug in the heating pad and adjust the temperature to a soothing warmth. Once the pad was situated, he turned to look at her.

"Can I join you?" Bucky asked, his eyes searching for permission.

Y/n nodded, a shy smile playing on her lips. "Please, Bucky."

As Bucky settled himself on the couch beside Y/n, the two fell into a comfortable silence. Y/n tucked herself into Bucky's side, resting her head on his shoulder, finding solace in the warmth radiating from his body. It was in that moment, she realized that Bucky's comforting presence was like a balm for her weary soul.

Bucky began to gently run his fingers through Y/n's hair, his touch soothing and affectionate. "You don't have to go through this alone, you know," he whispered, his voice barely audible, yet filled with genuine care.

A soft smile tugged at Y/n's lips as she snuggled closer, grateful for his understanding. "Thank you, Bucky. It means more to me than you can imagine."

They remained wrapped in each other's embrace, finding comfort in the silence and the unspoken bond they shared. In that moment, Y/n realized that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness could make a world of difference, even during the most challenging times.

With Bucky by her side, Y/n knew that she didn't have to face anything alone - not her period, nor any other obstacles that life may throw her way. And as they continued to cuddle, Y/n couldn't help but hope that the warmth she felt in her heart would extend far beyond this particular moment, blossoming into something more beautiful and lasting.

I am captivated by the twinkle of stars in your eyes.

The night sky turned pitch black and the stars glowed like diamonds, their sparkle light champagne against the dark color. The trees were illuminated by the roar of the fire, cast a warm golden-orange glow that served as a shield against the stinging wind.

Holding hands, you cuddled up under a gray blanket and listened to the night sounds while you watched the stars. In harmony with the dancing flames, a million bugs were chirping and the fire gave the branches a rhythmic beating. In the night sky, you two were alone.

 As you try to visualize what he is writing to you, you can almost feel his breath on the words as he stamps those words back with kisses on his lips. You do not mind, because his lips are also enjoying placing light butterfly kisses across your bare flesh as he traced his fingers over your body. Whenever he touches you, you are his.

It was your body that stole all his words. 

When you first caught a glimpse of his mouth, you felt an immediate desire to kiss him. Your desire for him was sparked by the feel of his skin. You were enchanted by his voice the minute you had heard it for the first time. The dazzling blue eyes of this man immediately caught your attention.

You risked opening up your life to Bucky, and he rewarded you by pouring his heart and soul into you. You want to be in his constant devotion because of how he makes you feel.

 He feels the warmth of your soft body against him, as his lips brush ever so gently across yours, and whispers that he desires you, how gorgeous you are, and how wonderful every movement of your beautiful body makes him look in the starlight, especially when caressing him. 

 You can only imagine how much affection he has in store for you. a wide grin breaks out across your face.

"Zvezdochka , why are you smiling? What could be so funny? " He looks at you with bright blue eyes as he kisses the rest of the words off of your skin..

In your eyes, you see my kisses, and I see them in my heart.

"I was imagining a galaxy full of love for you." He likes your witty remarks because he finds it hilarious when you think up ridiculous analogies to match the similes that you employ.

 Being in Bucky's company has been the single most joyful experience of your life. He is always open to hearing about your wackiest daydreams.

"Zvezdochka , you are the. brightest. star. in. my. sky," He showers you with passionate kisses all over your body as he speaks each syllable. 

He kisses you softly down your neck, gently caressing your lovely mouth with his tongue, moving back over your face and back to your neck, tenderly nipping the lobes of your ears, hinting at how much he wants to devour all of you. When his tongue touches yours, it's like the embers of a playful fire sparking and flaring.

You lean into him, eager for him to embrace you, desperate for you to feel loved and protected. Your body is hurting with the desire to be held, and you lean into him to satisfy that urge. 

 He takes your heart and plays it like a violin; he is the center of your world; he touches your body with beauty; he whispers love songs into your ear; he plays it like a violin. 

But stay strong so that this amazing time of feeling each other's deep love can last forever. He cherishes you and treats you like a celestial treasure. 

When he touches you, even for a second, you feel like a shining star. He kisses your skin, you float through the air like a constellation. When he embraces you, it's as if the universe itself is enfolding you in its arms.

Days Like This

The sound of your bag hitting the floor of your room echoed in your ears, and you wanted nothing more than to disappear, but unfortunately, you Avengering-abilities lay in telekinesis rather than invisibility. 

It seemed like today was destined to be one of those days where nothing worked out the way you wanted it to, and you were counting down the hours until the clock struck midnight and the universe granted you another day, one that you desperately hoped would be better than the one you were currently enduring. 

Collapsing facedown on the bed, you let out a groan that could probably be heard halfway down the hall, but you didn’t care. You didn’t run into anyone on the way in, so it was more than likely most of the team was out at this point. Missions sometimes only required a few operatives, and other members of the team also occasionally attended events and things outside the compound. 

You closed your eyes and sighed, the sound coming out muffled from the pillow your face rested upon. Making the challenging decision to go back to school and advance your education past what it already was something that you were proud to do, but there were also days like this, when you seriously considered dropping out and moving to the middle of nowhere to become a farmer. You could have a pager for when the Avengers needed you, but other than that, you could be off the grid. 

The sound of someone knocking at your door pulled you out of the negative spiral your brain had concocted, and you briefly picked your head up from the pillow. “Who is it?” you asked, your voice very clearly betraying that you were not in a great mood at the moment. 

“Let me in,” Bucky’s voice was the one that came through the door, and you should have expected that it would be him. 

But as much as you cared about your best friend, you didn’t really want to talk to anyone right now. “No.” 

You could hear him huff slightly before speaking again. “But I have something for you.” 

Clearly whatever he had was an attempt at bribery, and you were sad to say that it was working. “What is it?” 

“A cupcake.”

You told FRIDAY to open the door to your room and sat up to look at Bucky. In his hands was a clear container that held a single cupcake. The mound of frosting that sat atop the confection was making your mouth water, and you reached out to grab it from him. 

“Nope,” he said, holding the treat up out of your reach. “Not until you take a deep breath and talk to me about what’s wrong.” 

You glared at him, but he didn’t relent. “Why does going back to school have to be some difficult?” you asked, shaking your head. “I found out that I failed one of my exams today. And I don’t know if it’s going to affect whether or not I pass this class, and everything is just just piling up.” 

Bucky sat down next to you on the bed, and as promised, held out the little container. As you freed your prize from its plastic prison, he contemplated what to say. “I can’t pretend to think I know anything about this,” he said. “But why don’t we try to get your mind off it for a little while? Watch a movie or something, what do you say?” 

The hopeful look on his face was something you didn’t want to deny, because you knew he cared. You also clearly recognized the strategy, as when Bucky would pull away from everyone else and start to blame himself for the terrible things that happened to him, you were the one who showed up at his door with takeout and forced him to do something fun. It was just the way your friendship worked, and you couldn’t really say no to him when the idea of a movie night on the couch was at stake. 

All it took was half a nod from you, and the smile on his face had already grown. “Alright, what are you waiting for?” he asked. “And I’ll even let you pick the movie tonight.” 

You raised your eyebrows. “Isn’t it my turn to pick the movie anyway?” 

Dodging your judgemental glare by quickly getting up and practically running out of the room, you could hear him call for you to follow. The laugh that escaped your mouth at your best friend’s antics was a welcome change from the sighs that had been characterizing your entire day so far, and you started thinking about what movie you wanted to watch as you walked out of your room. 

One movie turned into a double feature, and soon the two of you had fallen asleep on the couch, sprawled out in awkward positions and laying over each other. The troubles of the day had long slipped your mind, and you were incredibly grateful for Bucky (even if you knew admitting it would mean enduring some gentle teasing).

The next morning, when you finally went back to your room to grab your phone, an email notification on the lockscreen caught your attention. It was from your professor, with the subject line “Recent Exam.” 

I was going through the grades on the most recent exam, and noticed your score was quite a bit lower than usual. I am more than happy to schedule a day for you to retake it if you want, and we can even meet to discuss some of the topics you were unsure about if you’d like. If there is anything else I can do to help you, please let me know. 

The boulder of stress and anxiety that was sitting on your chest was suddenly gone, and you took a deep breath and reread the email once more, to make sure it was in fact real and not just a cruel joke the universe was playing on you.

PoliZ's WIP Update - 3 Apr 2024

Getting back to what I’d like to consider an average writing week, with most of my effort was focused on a single work.  I touched  4 fics (1 new work & 3 WIPs) for a total of  2330  words.  

On Ao3, I posted:

Amplification - A Steve POV ficlet where he reflects on the effects of Project Rebirth. 

I’m juggling  17 😬 active/semi-active WIPs with my current  deadline being the Post July Break Bingo, which ends in April, and the Alpha Bucky April event.  

See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Two fill on my  2x3 non-fandom-specific card - still working on  potential crossovers.

* A2 - "You knew?"  - matched this up with Chapter Three  of my Stony spyfic WIP -  Keeping All My Secrets Safe Tonight -  it’s coming in at 1079 words and after a bit more editing, should be posting this Friday. ��   

* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on one of my open cards.

*  C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint).

* C2 - “What are we?”  Pair up with  SRB C5 - Exes to Lovers ? 

Alpha Bucky April - [BBE_ABA] - (Ends 30 April) 

@buckybarnesevents   is running another fun event to encourage fanworks featuring Alpha!Bucky - any pairing in terms of characters and/or alignments.  Since I already have a couple of  Alpha!Bucky WIPs, am using this as a good reason to get some work in on them.   There’s also additional challenges that I plan to take on: 

* Breeding Kink/Baby Fever -  mpreg is a pretty major squick for me, but I think I might be able to make it work in combination with an April BaBB prompt (roleplay) for what looks to be Chapter Three of   A Bit Carried Away.

* Nesting - This will fit pretty well  into the next chapter of A Sugar-Coated Pill - where Bucky comforts Tony after the bad news he’s gotten and helps him plan what to do next.   It’s currently sitting at 177 words and will crossfill with my WIB Couch Cuddles square nicely.  

* Purring/Affection - This could (and quite possibly will) fit into either/both of the above fics, tbh. 

* Beta Character  - My BBC4 fic (see below) features beta!Tony,  and  aroace Natasha will be making an appearance in Chapter Two of  A Bit Carried Away, which is in draft form at 1219 words and will probably post on the 19th.

* Double Minimum Req - 1500 words for a chapter seems pretty do-able  - targeting my BBC4 fic (or at least its first chapter) to fill this challenge 

Bucky Barnes Connect Four - Alt Jun-iverse [BBC4_R2]  {Ends May 31 2024}

Another fun event from the good folks over at  @buckybarnesevents! You sign up for a single row card of four squares and the challenge is to see if you can combine any/all into a single Bucky-centric AU fanwork - although you can also create fanworks that are based on a single or combo of 2-3 squares if you want.  

The combo of prompts on my first card [Reality Show,  Omegaverse, Talent/Manager, Royalty] sparked an idea:  Alpha!Bucky as a prince in name only who gets talked into joining a reality show that is supposed to match him up with an omega… but there’s a twist!  Picked this back up and it’s sitting at 766  words so far.  Thinking the Alpha Bucky April event will be a good excuse to get at least a first chapter of this out there! 

Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends  15 Jun 2024)

Fourteen  fills and no WIPs at the moment  - need to ponder other possible crossovers with my non-fandom cards & BaBB.

* E5 - Oversensitivity/Enhanced Senses - paired this up with last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF246 Pinprick] for  Amplification. A Steve POV ficlet where he reflects on the effects of Project Rebirth, it came in at 334 words and will post to Ao3 before the event  is over. 

Hawkeyes Bingo [HB_R2] {Ends TBD} 

Working on this  Tumblr event - got a 3x3 card and and am looking forward to creating more  Clint-centric content and trying my hand at a bit of  Kate Bishop fic as well!    

*A1 - Werewolf AU -  Posted  Shooting for the Moon  on Ao3 this morning  -  Werewolf!Bucky’s POV on the  second half of A Hairy Situation. It came in at 786  words. 

* A3 - Awkward Flirting – this might be a good entry into my first femslash fic with Kate/Yelena?    

C3 - "I've never been so humiliated in my life."  - filled this on Tumblr last Friday with A Shining Example.  Established WinterHawk where a training session goes embarrassingly wrong and  Clint gives Bucky a pep talk.   It crossed over with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF243 Glitter and Blues] and will get posted on Ao3 before this event ends.
