About Matthew outing Ariadne

I’ve seen some people here saying that one of the reasons Matthew is a horrible character is because he outed Ariadne, and I believe that is nothing but false information (or that at least the way I’ve read COI and the extra content is different). Let me explain myself:

By Chain of Iron, virtually every TLH main-ish character knows Ariadne’s attracted to women —Anna, specifically. While some people believe that must have been because Matthew or Anna told them, I think they were bound to find out her sexuality by the way Ariadne herself acts:

As you can see, Ariadne’s attraction to Anna is blatantly obvious; mainly if you’re often there to see her try to get with Anna (which the TLH gang excepting Alastair, is). Because actions speak louder than words. And most importantly: Ariadne isn’t trying to hide her sexuality from Anna’s friends. If she were, she wouldn’t have turned to Matthew for support in “reconquering” Anna (as we can see in the letter game) nor mind Anna kissing her in front of Lucie.

I’m not fully sure of this, but I think most people think Matthew outed Ariadne because of a certain speech with Cordelia (while they were looking for Wayland the Smith). And while it is true that Matthew did tell her the little he knew about it (that is: nothing), he wouldn’t have opened his mouth if Cordelia hadn’t asked him to in the first place —as she’s the one to bring up the subject.

My point is, by Chain of Iron everyone knows Ariadne wants to be with Anna; something they gossip about (particularly Magnus, Thomas, Lucie, James, Cordelia and Matthew). So Matthew is not to blame for talking with Cordelia about something she already knew (since Chain of Gold) and which his friends also partake in talking about.
