my hot take from hotd is that people getting mad that "the asoiaf prophecy wasn't fulfilled" and that the show writers are "throwing it in their face" are dumb actually

like i love me some targaryens as much as the next person they're incredibly interesting as characters but bruh they're not heroes and most of them aren't good people. they're not magically destined to save the whole world - the majority of targaryen kings historically sucked ass as tyrants and warmongers. they're incestuous creeps. i giggle and clap and kick my little feet reading about them and seeing them on screen but idk i feel like the idea aegon saw himself as this divine conqueror set to save the world with his inbred lineage is hubris not prophecy. typically when we get prophecies in the asoiaf books they are not fulfilled, or they are fulfilled in unexpected ways. we see people destroy their whole lives and cause ruin and pain to other people because of their obsession with being the prophecised heroes (rhaegar and stannis being the biggest examples).

targaryen restoration is not meant to be a good thing in asoiaf. the fact a grossly inbred family ruled for 300 years culminating in one of them trying to blow up his entire capital city in the midst of a civil war caused by him burning people alive is not a ringing endorsement for the targaryens no matter how good of a person dany is. i agree that the last 2 seasons of got were awful but it's not JUST because the targaryen restoration didn't happen (and I sincerely hope it doesn't if the books ever finish - whether dany goes mad queen or not for me it can honestly go either way and so long as the journey getting there is well written i'll take the ending given to her). there were a lot of factors that made the end to got bad but it did not hinge on the fact the targaryens didn't get a happy ending.

Rereading JJK again

(Light spoilers maybe??)

I have so many feelings on JJK it’s not even funny. Going back to the beginning of it all, how simple life was for Yuji before everything. How a simple request, to help people, would lead to the most devastating, traumatic experience of this boy’s life. Along with Megumi who was there to collect the curse object and just happened to come across Yuji. He was suppose to kill Yuji for eating Sukuna’s finger but then he wanted him to live. A personal request. That personal request is what made him go through the worst pain imaginable.

I feel like these two world should have never collided in a sense. Megumi and Yuji were never suppose to know/be around each other at all. Fate is a cruel mistress in JJK but also a pleasant one because they found each other and will stick by each other. Even if it was Sukuna that did them in. I’m just think about the possibilities of what it could have been you know?

Sorry for my insane ramblings bc I’m sad rereading the beginning and knowing what happens (this is all for an AU btw and I’m going through the ringer a second time).

the more i see from New Tales From the Borderlands, the more depressed i get. this is very unfunny, and i dont use that lightly. i cant believe this is a canonical game. 😔 it feels like someone who doesnt know anything about borderlands wrote it. someone who doesnt understand Any amount of human interaction and Basic storytelling. the let's player i'm watching says it feels like an AI wrote it and it really does; it feels like a cashgrab. :( the voice actors really seem to be trying, but they can't save the super shitty writing and cringey dialogue.

i've played a lot of games that are messy and flawed, but even games i hate or strongly dislike have Some potential in them. SOMETHING redeemable. but not New Tales From the Borderlands. :/ i guess you can say the animations are pretty good? but idk, most of the time, it feels really goofy and over-exaggerated, especially with the awkward script. and in some scenes, it's Really stiff and just plain Weird. and decent animations definitely dont make up for ineffective, confusing, and very Poor writing. it just feels like those videos where they remove the laugh tracks from shows: extremely Unnatural, Unnerving, and very Manufactured. it is a really shit sequel to the original Tales From the Borderlands and i'm assuming it doesnt succeed bl3 very well either. what a waste.
