Night of a Thousand Furry Toys - Rick Wright (1996)
It's the Pink Floyd / Slapp Happy crossover you didn't know you needed in your life! Lyricist Anthony Moore makes a cameo as the 'telephone voice' on this oddly drum & bass influenced track.
Here's hoping Steven Wilson gets his hands on the multitracks for this one soon and we get an Atmos remix.

(130) TFP canon divergence from the end of season one: in a shocking turn of events, Airachnid defeats Soundwave in combat during their confrontation in One Shall Rise Part 3, perhaps having predicted his resistance. She imprisons him, successfully takes over the Decepticons, and sets a course for Regulon 4, as per her canon plans.
Soundwave escapes his captivity due to his peerless knowledge of the Nemesis's security systems. He flees the ship and goes looking for help to get rid of Airachnid. Megatron may be unavailable, but there is still one mechanism haunting planet Earth who might loosely be called a Decepticon... and Starscream is enraged by the news of Airachnid successfully stealing the army out from under Megatron. That's his army! That's his ship! That's his coup! He, Starscream, was meant to stab Megatron in the back and—what's that, Soundwave? Erm. Oh. ...Yes. Of course.
Alternative summary: in which Starscream and Soundwave go on a high-velocity trigger happy space adventure to defeat Airachnid and steal the Nemesis back before Megatron returns from Unicron's spark chamber and discovers anyone lost it in the first place.

just because you can sometimes purposefully pretend that bad writing is just due to characters acting a certain way--
(IE: "This mixup of the holiday dates is clearly the author's fault for not paying attention to their own worldbuilding, which isn't even complicated, and she literally just had them correct not even twenty pages ago, but for the sake of my sanity I'm going to pretend this character is just lying to be an asshole")
--does not mean that bad writing is always "the character's fault". And the above "for the sake of my sanity I'm going to pretend this is the character's fault" is for your sake only. It's not to be brought up to defend the writing itself, which you know is filled with inconsistencies and wouldn't know the meaning of "continuity" if it bit them on the nose.
If someone is specifically asking for in-universe explanations for the glaring and painfully obvious continuity errors, then you should feel free to offer all the convoluted explanations you've come up with.
but these are not a substitute for actually acknowledging that the author has made mistakes and there are in fact a ton of continuity errors in the text, not because "it's the character's fault", but because the author wasn't paying attention or didn't understand what they were saying, or just straight up doesn't give enough shits about their own setting to bother with silly things like not screwing up timelines in ways that make no sense. (*cough* Jaxom *cough)
You can come up with in-universe explanations for the continuity errors.
But you shouldn't let those get in the way of admitting "Yes, the continuity errors exist because the author wasn't paying attention/doesn't understand what they're saying/doesn't take their own story seriously/has a problem with making all the protagonists Mary Sues/Ect.".

one of my favorite mechanics of prose and the way people harness it is the illustration of a life/twin lives and the stark, stunning blatantness of the situations these lives are in. in illustrating these lives, the author is sketching and exploring the world around the characters, offering you specifics of their relationship and the physicality of it and the bits and pieces and animals and wildlife and manufactured organs that surround them. this is their scene and this is their setting and unless you are able to visualize it, it's difficult to really empathize with these people. even more difficult still if you can't grasp it and these specific experiences.
a really great example is tallahasse and broom people by the mountain goats. they're mirrored images and they both explain the objects that are strung into the narrative and the situations that these objects are in and how they've been used and placed and left alone and tampered with by the characters and how that explains and furthers their behaviors and, thus, how these characters relate to each other. these are animals that react to their environment and how the environment reacts to them.

there's also a very clear narrative of isolation and the simultaneous weariness and the comfort that arises from being stuck in scenarios that only the two of you can feel like you relate to. and even though you can, you're an outsider looking into these intimate scenarios, you're only offered what the author gives you. and that is the state of inanimate objects and how they are tampered with. there's just something so special to me about traveling through a biosphere on the head of a pin and how you get to view it through visual shots of the world rather than only being told who feels what and who has done what to whom. it's a form of storytelling that i just go fucking crazy for every time because i love cinematic prose and i never ever get tired of it

yep, that's me. you're probably wondering how a werewolf ended up as a fucking kitten chewing on the sleeve of the asshole who got them into this mess. it all started when this shitty vampire in his ugly ombre red suit trespassed into our pack's territory while on the run from witches.
fucking witches, man.
((idk where this is going I just like the idea of spiteful kitten!Porsche making vampire!Kinn's life a living hell 😂))
