Both Butler and Gessen seem to revere Jewish vulnerability, statelessness and martyrdom. Are they also Nazis in drag?

The two conformists see Jewish vulnerability to persecution as far more “ethical” than the Jews’ ability to defend themselves from persecution and genocide. According to Prof. Corinne Blackmer in her brave book Queering Anti-Zionism: Academic Freedom, LGBTQ Intellectuals and Israel/Palestine Campus Activism:

“Butler implicitly argues that Jews were better off suffering rather than perpetrating state-sponsored persecution. … Two possible lessons or conclusions can be drawn from the fact that Jews experienced considerable state-sponsored violence, persecution and discrimination in the galut [exile], culminating not only in the Holocaust but also the forced removal of nearly one million Mizrachi Jews from their ancestral homes in the Middle East before or during the establishment of Israel as a Jewish state in 1948. One, supported by Butler and other BDS advocates, states that precisely because Jews suffered extreme state-sponsored violence, they should endeavor to avoid state-building, although this formulation leaves unanswered precisely under what political system Jews should (peacefully?) reside.”

In her piece in The London Review of Books, Butler does “condemn without qualification the violence committed by Hamas. This was a terrifying and revolting massacre. This was my primary reaction, and it endures.”

However, she then goes on to “contextualize” this statement by trotting out all manner of false allegations against Israel: “We should develop some understanding of why groups like Hamas gained strength in light of the broken promises of Oslo and the ‘state of death, both slow and sudden’ that describes the lived existence of many Palestinians living under occupation, whether the constant surveillance and threat of administrative detention without due process or the intensifying siege that denies Gazans medication, food and water.”

Butler appears to be either ignorant of or deliberately concealing several important facts: Israel left Gaza in 2005. Hamas—an Iranian-funded Islamist terror group—controls, indoctrinates, tortures, torments and impoverishes Gazans. Hamas has taken the lion’s share of the aid meant for Gaza civilians and diverted it into their own bank accounts abroad and into building their terror tunnels and weaponry. No Arab country has been willing to offer Gazans refuge, even temporarily. Egypt has walled off Gaza from the Sinai. Hamas has increasingly forced women to wear veils, marry into polygamous families and risk being honor-killed if they “shame” their families.

Day 4. Rose Ceremony

Emily had 7 points less than Morgan which means she’e eliminated. Corinne loved the little time she got to spend with Emily, she got to meet such a brave and clever sim, and hopes she gets to see Emily again however it is.

Thank you @ashubii for submitting Emily, having her in game was such a ride! But let’s hope I can take her for a spin one last time..

As it stood, she still sustained quite a few scrapes and bruises; the delicate bun her hair had been pulled back in had fallen sideways and left her dark hair in disarray. Bruce was in much the same shape, if not a little worse.

        ❝ T-Thank you... ❞ Her voice trembled as she spoke, still reeling from the ordeal. Already, there were whispers circulation as to the cause of the explosion — had it been terrorists? Or something more sinister? ❝ That was very b-brave of you. You saved my life. ❞

It was then that he and Ginger Mick became a legend.

This is a great piece of history for children. A boy travels across Australia with only his horse for company - a perfect historical story for young readers!

The book reads like an adventure - like a movie - and the pair become famous along the way, even meeting the Prime Minister. And the story has the added bonus of being true!

And this Canberran appreciated the stop in Canberra along the way. I loved the illustration of what is now Old Parliament House with the sheep grazing out the front.

This would be a good book for the classroom, both to get children interested in history and to inspire stories of their own.

The Singularity is Near:When Humans Transcend Biology

In the this blog I would like to share a book that I've been interested in lately, The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology, by American author Ray Kurzweil, one of whose most famous personal achievements is called "Kurzweil's Law" (also known as the Law of Accelerated Cycling). The idea is that the power of technology is expanding outward at an exponential rate. In this book, he writes about artificial intelligence as the latest achievement of technological development in the 21st century and the enormous impact that technological development has brought to human society. He demonstrates the wide impact of the technological phenomenon represented by artificial intelligence as a "singularity" trend in the world.

I will analyse the impact of the book as a medium for the transmission of knowledge and culture. Whenever humans read, they perceive the text as a 'graphic' trace of a medium that is essentially an experiential-associative encounter modelled by Stewart's composite word (p. 11). (Cayley, J. (2023))

Ray Kurzweil divides this era into six eras, first, my mind forms six different images. Secondly, it is then filled in one by one with the author's opinions. When it comes to 5. the convergence of technology and human intelligence, we have now reached the fifth stage. The book mentions that the manifestation of these technological advances is centred on the development of three major technologies:

Gene technology: the convergence of information and biology

Nanotechnology: the intersection of the information and physical worlds

Machine Intelligence: Strong Artificial Intelligence

I have to say that all three of these have happened or are happening, having read about the Japanese science of printing 3D hearts to be transplanted into human bodies via nanotechnology and what Musk is doing now about human-machine interfaces. It makes me brave to believe and imagine the future. This is the integrated message that this book tells me through its narrative and then I combine it with some of my other sources to integrate it, I love the way books are narrated in such a way that whenever you read a fiction book it takes you to another world. Your imagination is at its best when you are trying to see things in your own mind in a new world.

I found an experimental paper on the interface between organs and specific tissues in 2021 that Prof. Warwick had his nervous system wired to a robotic hand allowing its remote control. (A) A 100-electrode array surgically implanted into the median nerve fibres of the left arm allowed the electrical reading of nerve signals. (B) The robotic hand was remotely controlled by signals from the researcher's nervous system. This paper had pictures attached to illustrate its experimental method or process, allowing me to better understand or verify consistency with the picture I had formed in my mind. This saw graphics as an element of self-perception. Just like the cover of this book is also an addition to the imagination and content of the future. And these pictures are formed after my self-perception, so the book gives me the meaning to refine my self-perception.

Additionally through the Miller-Goldwater study of the impact of children's shared book reading on young children's science learning this study highlights the importance of the textual features of books and social interactions during shared book reading in facilitating early science learning.

Of course, many think that what the author says is exaggerated in the past, but The Singularity is Near gives us a glimpse of where the world is headed, and no matter how long the predictions in it are away from us, with technology changing so rapidly these days, let's wait and see!

Zoey Tess regards her late aunt, television actress Corinne Camacho, as her greatest source of inspiration. Born Gloria Angelina Katharina Alletto, Camacho was a veteran television actress (Little House on the Prairie, Days of Our Lives, The Bionic Woman) whose career spanned over four decades. During her early childhood, she studied classical piano at The Conservatory of Music and Arts in New Jersey. Camacho's career began in Los Angeles, California as a model in the 1960's and would soon lead to an illustrious television and film career. Camacho passed away on September 15th, 2010, after a brave battle with cancer. She was 68. Both Variety Magazine, as well as The Television Academy, giving nature paid tribute to the beautiful and gracious "TV Thespian". Tess told Muzique Magazine that “she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Camacho’s talent and success, but most admire her kindness and giving-nature.”

Tess is a songwriter at heart and finds joy composing for other artists and bands. She loves to experiment with different sounds and styles, drawing inspiration from the artists she admires most. She combines her unique background that spans all genres of music, while maintaining her own image and sound. Recently she wrote the soul-searching ballad ‘Glass Castles’ for pop singer and LGBTQ activist Mila Jam. Tess is currently working with music manager Karen Ross of Ross Celebrity PR and Music Management who spent much of her career alongside legendary record producer and composer Phil Ramone. Ross and Tess are cultivating a catalogue of larger-than-life music for film and television soundtracks. Tess recently got engaged in January of this year and looks forward to getting Married in October to Jay Bennett at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Tess and Bennett enjoy traveling between their homes in Palm Beach, Florida and Newtown, Connecticut.
