Books on TV: Black Mirror Season 6 and Ray Bradbury
Today, we have Netflix' Black Mirror. In the 1950s, they had Ray Bradbury.
The remarkable similarity is in their themes of near-future dystopia and the use of media and technology to make commentaries on relevant social issues. Some even say Black Mirror is just Bradbury for non-readers.

I find it engaging when books are shown on TV or film not as mere props but as instruments to create some kind of a foreshadow of events. You could just imagine my joy seeing The Illustrated Man in the latest season of Black Mirror. It was in the third episode called 'Beyond the Sea,' where they dropped Easter eggs by including different novels within the story.
In 'Beyond the Sea,' astronauts Cliff and David are in space to complete a six-year mission. They each have "robot look-alikes" or replicas on Earth that allow them to continue their life with their wives and families back home while they were away.
In The Illustrated Man, there's a short story that's nearly the same. It's called "Marionettes, Inc." One of the characters is Braling, a married man for ten years who wants to escape being a husband. Instead, he wants to seek pleasure and go on a trip. His friend, Smith, who's also married, plans to go with him. Good news for them, there's a company called Marionettes that creates robot replicas. That means they can pursue their plans while the robots stay at home pretending to be them.
All four characters from both "Beyond the Sea" and "Marionettes, Inc." are presented with a choice of whether or not to allow technology to meddle in their lives, especially for something as important as their marriages. One can already assume this will not end very well, but not because technology is in itself evil, because we know it's not.
All to say that both Black Mirror and the works of Ray Bradbury are a reflection of our present more than our future, including how our own humanity plays out in the face of modern technology and how it can adversely affect not only our psyche, but even our personal relationships.
And if we ever feel bothered while watching Black Mirror or reading Bradbury —  and certainly we will be —  it just shows how these authors and creators have done their job well.

Part 2 of that blue 1979 camaro.
Warning: its stranger things so yeah
It was dark, the sky no longer blue but a dark red with tints of blue in the clouds surrounding the tall black trees. He had been running for god knows how long from the creature. Finally finding a stone looking archway, the hole being just small enough for him to fit through, he crawled through to the other. Pulling himself out of a tree trunk. The sky was dark with stars shining behind gray clouds. Pushing himself up off the ground, he stood in the middle of the road looking around the land trying to find something he recognized. The figure ahead heard the sound of a car, but not just any car, his car. Keeping still, as he looked around at the trees, in a disoriented state for the few seconds it took for the car to stop behind him. The headlight shined on him, as he turned around looking to the driver seat, noting seeing anyone. Where she could see him with his sweaty, bloody, and beaten down body. She watched looking into his eyes from the wind shield. The radio was being turned down, as he tried to look into the car. The door suddenly opened, He watched as a booted foot stepped out of the car, with fishnet tights going up the leg. The boots were old, dirty, and had wear lines. A hand placed on the door, as the person pulled themself out of the car, he noticed the jacket sleeve, being a blue jean jacket that looked two sizes too big on them. When he looked at their face, the mop of messy black hair covered the side of their face until they turned to face him. He looked at their dark eye makeup, and red painted lips, her forehead covered by short bangs, as she looked back at him with curiosity. Looking into his blue eyes, Joan took a step closer to the man. Getting a closer look at his face, racking her brain for something close to a , when it clicked, a memory of Max showing her a photo of her stepbrother, ‘Billy’. Most of him looked the same but with some slight changes like he looked older than the photo.  Tilting her head slightly to the left, she watched him breath for a few seconds before he spoke. "What are you doing with my car?." His voice was ruff, as he watched the woman, his throat was dry from running. “It’s my car now, I found it in a junkyard.” Her voice was soft, with a ruff hint from the smoke. They stared at each other for a few beats of their hearts. Joan keeps her guard up, knowing of all the stories about him. Billy watched her, he saw his jacket around her shoulders, in the middle of her chest was his necklace, he kept noticing things on her that were his. “Why are you wearing my things?” He asked, his voice in a rasp and dryer from dehydration. “I found them in the trunk.” Before anything could be said, after her speaking, Billy dropped to the ground making Joan jump. Making her way over to him, Joan rolled him onto his back, placing her hands under his armpits, and she  dragged him to the car's passenger side. “Jesus christ, man. You're heavy.Max, you better be happy he’s back.” She said to herself as she finally got him into the car. Getting the car, Joan left the road, making her way to Max’s house. The radio braling, pulling up to Max’s. She found the young red head, making her way outside, to the sound of the music. “Max,you have to see this.” Joan said, as she jumped out of the car.

Neki dan sedimo u kafani, Žile i moja malenkost, pijuckamo, pušimo, oblak dima oko nas. Obojica pušimo savijuše. Brale cela kafana u dimu.
