Why "Lost In Outland" Is Astro Boy's Most Beloved Episode
Tumblr media
The 2003 series is considered by fans to be one of the best renditions of Astro boy ever. Known for its risk taking and emotionally charged story-lines, most if not all the episodes hit. But one in particular, “Lost In Outland,” stands out among the rest. Why that is, has been of particular interest to me, who personally enjoys it as well. My findings have led me to come up with three reasons as to why. For starters, the change in pace & scenario compared to other episodes. Secondly, the unforgettable and unique characters. And, thirdly, Astro’s place in it all. While this is not an exhaustive list of reasons, it is clear from these three alone that, out of all the 2003 series episodes, “Lost In Outland” proves time and time again to be the best and most loved.
Now, of course, before we begin, I have to disclaim a couple of things. One, this is not meant to convince you to like the episode if you dislike it already, I am simply explaining what I have found & researched and presenting it to you as such. Two, I am well aware that the research methods I have used to come to these conclusions with drawbacks and downsides that harm its legitimacy. While I tried my best to circumvent this, things can and do fall through the cracks, and there is nothing I can do about that in said regard.
To start, I want to explain a little bit about how I got to this point, and what made me wish to write this post. I knew personally that Lost In Outland was my favorite episode of the 03 series, but when speaking about it with other people, I was shocked to find out I was not the only one who felt that way. I also, at the time, had developed some theories as a result of this feedback that hinged on my own personal thoughts, not just about the episode, but also about my personal life. Thus, I decided to put together a Google Form in an attempt to not only gauge what other’s thought about this episode, but also if my theories held any water.
Of course, as mentioned earlier, there are some caveats to doing a poll. Besides the obvious— that people can lie or use bots to manipulate the results— there’s also the inherent bias that I am (presumably) polling people who already like and enjoy the 2003 series. So, the odds of them liking Lost In Outland goes up tenfold. There’s also the fact that I was only (at the time of writing this) able to pull in 8 responses. But as I said, I cannot control how people respond, and who responds, exactly. Even if I made it extra obvious that the results would be anonymous, that still may not have been enough to convince people to be brutally honest. This fandom is also quite tiny, so while 8 people in a poll for any fandom would seem so little, in this case it’s actually quite a lot. Finally, there was a second section in the form that contained some more heavy questions (mostly pertaining to my theories) that people had to opt in to answer. Some may have chosen not to participate and thus only answered the questions from the first section.
Out of the 8 people who submitted responses, 75% of them consider Lost In Outland their favorite, or all-time favorite episode. 25% did not consider Lost In Outland to be their fave or all-time fave. Participants were given a question to elaborate on why they did or disliked the episode, and we will be discussing their thoughts later. For now, to continue, 75% prefer the subbed version of the episode, while 25% prefer the dubbed.
Tumblr media
For the second half of the survey, in which 87.5% of people agreed to participate, 57.1% of them consider themselves to be LGBTQ+/queer. 42.9% of them (presumably) consider themselves to be cishet. Precisely 71.4% of them have said they’ve experienced some form of trauma at any point in their life, while 14.3% did not, and 14.3% said “maybe.” The final question, directly attempting to answer a theory I had made, was a bit inconclusive. Only 57.1% of people said that they have or had (at any point) thoughts of escaping/running away, starting over somewhere new, or anything similar.
Tumblr media
Now that we have broken down the multiple choice responses, we can get back to talking about the written response question I saved for later. This brings us to the three reasons outlined in the intro as to why the episode is so enjoyed. For starters, we can talk about one of the most frequently brought up reasons: the characters. Many praised the unique nature of the commune characters, with one even mentioning how lovable and interesting they are. Personally, I also agree that the characters are what make the episode. They serve as the backbone for the episode’s plot, and as one participant said, even make for the perfect set-up for a spin-off show. Boon in particular was brought up twice and seems to be the breakout star altogether. However, I can also see the opposite for why some wouldn’t like this, as introducing so many new characters (that, spoiler alert, we never see again) can be overwhelming, or seen as a waste. But, I think the episode did a fantastic job at making them all diverse and unique that we can’t really forget them. And, as for the “wastefulness” argument, that’s somewhat valid, but it’s not entirely our fault that the show couldn’t find a way to bring them back in some capacity.
Next, we have something a little similar, and that’s the change of pace/scenery. Now this personally has got to be one of, if not the sole reasons I love this episode, and I’m glad everyone else agrees! To begin, many pointed out how we don’t normally get to see live as lived outside of Metro City, or even outside of those that are rich. This episode, based around a commune that is said to live in Outland as a “[Way for] people to forget about their problems.” gives us a perspective we haven’t seen yet. Of course, though, I can't talk about this point and not say the obvious, that this isn’t the first time (nor would it be the last) that Astro’s lost their memory. However, in this specific context, I think it takes that idea and freshens it up a little. It’s also really nice to see O’shay step up to the plate and take initiative in looking for them. Not to say that he’s never stepped up before, but as one participant wrote: “It was the first episode, Ochanomizu claimed parenthood over, Atom.”
Finally, our third reason is a bit hard to pin down. Originally written in my outline for this blog post as simply “Astro’s altruism”, which is based on a single response written that spoke of Astro wanting to help others, despite everything. It seems far more that the majority (including myself), similar to liking how different of a situation Astro was in, also liked what it represented for them. Now, I am no psychologist, nor would I claim that anyone who participated is, either. Even still, the fact that it's as clear as the night sky that what Astro goes through is enough to make us all collectively sigh in gratitude that it’s not of importance or worry this time around, is astounding. Yes, there is still something to be said about the episode's entire premise beginning with Astro going out of their way to fix the satellite, despite not being instructed to do so at all. As well as the fact that they were able to clear Boon’s name after successfully using the Boon Unit. But for once, we’re seeing Astro live a life where they aren’t pestered or arsed to have a “purpose,” to be a mediator, to feel like being an activist is more important than being a kid. They were allowed to just be, and that, is precious.
For the 25% who disliked the episode, only 1 submitted a written response that said though it is not their favorite, they still enjoyed the episode. The other declined to comment.
To summarize, there are many reasons why Lost In Outland is considered the best of the best, even by 2003 series standards. But, based on my research, the 3 most predominate ones are: the stellar characters, the unorthodox setting, and Astro’s place in it all. And considering I agree with them all, should it really have been a surprise to me that I wasn’t the only one? Perhaps not- but I’m glad to now have concrete evidence as to why, and perhaps you do too as well. Because, out of all the 2003 series episodes, “Lost In Outland” proves time and time again to be the best and most loved. And the proof is in the pudding.

Twisted Wonderland and DnD Ideas
Okay, so I know that this sort of thing isn't technically in my ballpark, but dammit, it's been bothering me for a few days and I need to just get my brain going because I'm distracted with this idea and I'm tempted to make a funny side-series on it alksdfjlkajl
As you can tell by the title, it's TWST with DnD because of the shiny math rocks and all that fun stuff are there and chaotic adventures.
How the NRC boys learn about DnD is from Yuu/Yuusona. They get invested in the crazy world that Yuu has played in. They think DnD is a video game or something, but no, it's a TTRPG and it's all based on dice and decisions.
Some of them like Ace and Epel initially think that it's a little nerdy and weird, but in actuality, they learn about the freedom that DnD provides due to the whole dice mechanic.
Deuce would be into it as well, but the mention of math would make him hesitant until Yuu mentions that it was simple math and using calculators was okay, so that's fine!
As a part of the board game club, Idia and Azul think that it's an interesting game, the former being so excited about it that he basically makes Yuu/Yuusona describe it all in detail as much as possible.
Idia would definitely want to play the game, although the social aspect of it would make him want to strictly play online than in person. Idia would make a bot to play on TWST's version of Discord and implement everything that's needed to make it run.
Azul would wonder about marketing strategies based on the concept and Yuu would off-handedly mention how there were places that did just that in their world, so if Azul wanted to, he could do it.
I imagine Yuu being a Dungeon Master/Game Master and that's why they know a lot of the game mechanics off the top of their head. Forever DM and all that rip.
Either that or Yuu was going back home after a long session of DMing for their group and brought all their DnD stuff with them to TWST. I can see them having a digital copy of all their books on an iPad or something because that's always good to have on hand. Or something along those lines because I've got ✨ideas✨
Anyways, Yuu would have to explain that there are ways to play DnD. If the others want to play DnD, they hold a Session Zero because you should always have a Session Zero to discuss what should go on in the campaign. Brainstorming away, they get everyone's stuff ready for the most part, and yeah, that's how things begin.
As for classes... I've got some in mind for the others :D
Deuce would want to play as a Paladin, mostly because the idea of a knight character with an Oath sounds a lot like himself. Either that or a Fighter because it's pretty simple and straightforward without being too confusing.
Ace would lean somewhere between a Bard, Rogue, or a Warlock, mostly because he's smart enough to use Charisma to his advantage in real life. Rogue because it suits him and his sneaky nature, plus sleight-of-hand tricks are an essential part of being a Rogue.
Epel would be a Barbarian. Rage, full-out attack, and just being the strongest person on the team- that's a dream for him. It's either that or one of the melee classes. An interesting pick would be a Cleric, although he'd go for a War Cleric.
Jack is a tricky one because he can fit into a number of roles. An interesting one would be Monk, mostly because the idea of Jack playing a Monk makes sense to me. He's another person who can be a Fighter, but Druid could also be interesting for him, depending on the context of his character. Also, Unleash the Beast is basically Wild Shape if only limited to him turning into a wolf.
Sebek would want to be a Magic Caster and is warned about the Spellcasting mechanics of the game beforehand. He's a diligent guy, so he listens carefully to the rules and remembers them. That being said, Sebek would definitely want to play something like a Sorcerer (Dragon lineage) or possibly a Warlock with a Pact with the Fae. He'd definitely be choosing a Half-Elf as his first character though.
Ortho would be interested in the idea of an Artificer or a Wizard. The reason is for their intelligence and Ortho's always excited to learn new things. Also, an interesting one to consider for Ortho is a Rogue that's diving into the Mastermind subclass. Sorcerer's Clockwork Soul is an interesting one to consider too 🤔

Whumptober Day 24: Fight, Flight or Freeze
KJ, mentions blood, death, and experiments gone wrong.
~800 words.
Bright, sunny smiles with a yellow jacket and green beanie. Words that flowed so quickly that most people couldn’t keep up. Energy and ideas that transcended current needs and drove innovation forward, one cute, little bot at a time. These were the things Killjoy was known for. These were the things Killjoy wanted to be known for.
But that was not always the case. Only, she didn’t have to confront that truth until right this moment as she held onto the edges of her personal console with her face, name, and history right there for her to see. For anyone to see, really. All they had to do was look over her shoulder while she was so overwhelmed by the tidal wave of thoughts that she couldn’t even withstand, and…
She clutched it close to her chest. She was alone in her room. There was no one here to potentially peep on her and learn about the secrets she had tried to hold so close to herself that she forgot they were there.
Not like this.
She felt her pulse speed up and her breaths get shallower, quicker.
Not like this.
She took a deep inhale and tried to hold onto it for as long as she could. She needed to forget. Things would be ok. Of course they would be. Everything always worked out… didn’t it?
Red was the colour of the blood on the walls when she walked past a testing chamber. Clean up crews were spilling in and out of there, but she had nothing to do with that. Perhaps an animal trial had just gone poorly. Oh, the poor little mice, she always felt so bad when she walked past their cages. Still, the sounds of the axes as whatever machine in there was being shut down were ingrained in her mind because no one else had been able to replicate the smoothness of motion in robots like she had.
But people stole ideas all the time. She would just have to try harder next time.
Desperate were the screams she heard as she roamed the halls of the forbidden Research and Development wing. The one part of this entire facility she was not allowed to go. Which was strange considering that she was definitely part of the R&D team. Maybe that was why she wanted to get a sneak peek so badly. Pandora’s box or whatever. She slid against the cold walls, avoiding the cameras she had memorized along with the path to the ultimate goal: the test chamber.
She hadn’t expected to see the little egg like capsules all lined up in a tray. The design and colours hadn’t escaped her. These were just like the little machines she made, meant to activate with a switch to slow people down. Just slow them down. She even finished the improved gooey formula that was meant to stick shoes to the pavement just this morning. But…
That was when the first screams happened. Bellowing calls of pain. She didn’t dare peek into the room after that. She slipped one of the ovals into her pockets and walked back.
Painful was the feeling of Reyna’s hands around her throat as she had walked into her lab one day. Killjoy didn’t recognize her as anything other than the newest agent, but Reyna knew her. She had stormed in, yelling about something or other in Spanish as she picked Killjoy up and pinned her against the wall moments before starting to strangle her.
Brimstone and Sova had come in right after but couldn’t stop her in time before she reached Killjoy. Even Sage hurried behind, but too far away to stop the rampaging agent.
“YOU!” she yelled. “You and your… inventions did this to her…”
Finally, Brimstone and Sova together managed to pry Reyna off Killjoy and hauled her out of the room even as she kicked and screamed profanities back at Killjoy. Sage had comforted her and made sure she was ok, but the words were already said, the meaning, in her face.
Her inventions. Her ideas. And for the first time in a long time, Killjoy wondered if she truly was helping the world. Or was she just saving it from her own mistakes. It was of no matter now. She couldn’t turn back time or erase the memories of the monsters who thought to turn her ideas into what they were now. At least, that’s what Brimstone said. It wasn’t her fault. It wasn’t…
Still, as she sat, staring at those words on the screen, a reminder and judgement made on her past and her actions, she couldn’t help the chill settling over her hear that… yes. She was at fault here. And no number of smiles, cheerful quips and wishes would take that away.

✨ Red Alert x Inferno
Hello! Sorry I took so long to write this! This is second time writing for the ask game, so if anything looks/sounds weird, please tell me!
Oh, hello, Alarum(ʳᵉᶠ)! Came to take a break? … What do you mean you have been here for some hours already? Why haven’t I seen you earlier?
Firstly, I headcanon, Red Alert’s paranoid disorder is… Not seen as a problem with his systems. And it’s a big chunk of his code, so there is a big chance of passing this trait to his sparklings. Do you see where this’s going? Yep, Alarum has the same thing. She rarely has panic outbursts, and she trained herself to mask the disorder (ironically, but she did that because of her paranoia) so other bots wouldn’t know about it.
Alarum is quite a big bot like Inferno (despite being carried by Red Alert)! Her frame is mostly red-coloured with white hands, face and a black helmet. The black helmet’s form reminds of Red Alert’s. She transforms into a fire truck-like vehicle.
Alarum had grown up with overprotective Red Alert and quite easy-going Inferno. She probably remembers her first years of life being cared for mostly by Inferno, seeing Red Alert rarely, because of his therapy he was taking at the time. Once he finished it he spent a lot of time near his sparkling. Sometimes, he would take Alarum to his work. That was probably a reason why Alarum would know a lot about security systems.
That is probably why Alarum decided to study to become a cy-net-security supervisor. She finished school and a university with good marks. She inspects the cybertronian network (cy-net) to check if there is anything illegal and, if that’s possible, to send police to them. Her paranoia makes a big part of her responsibility to work hard. She does her job wonderful! But she gets a much less recharge than a usual bot. After a decade of being a supervisor, research of level and control of cybercrimes will be published in an online newspaper which will show that much more crimes were prevented or solved now than in the past. A big per cent of this statistic was Alarum’s work. That’s a good thing, but there are some… Questionable aspects in her personality.
It doesn’t mean Alarum is an evil in flesh (”steel”). She is polite, helps people in trouble, shows kindness to others and does most of the classical moral good things, is quite straight-forward and confident, but can be rather aggressive and a perfectionist to a point of being tedious. Alarum doesn’t like people who try to know her through direct questions, and she will try to avoid talking to that kind of people. Yes, if you ask her what her favourite colour is, you may not see her anymore near you. Or you’re lucky, and she still talks to you. Alarum has chosen some specific behaviours for each of the levels of relationships between her and anyone. So, yeah, it’s sometimes hard to talk to her. She is not a sociable person, and she needs an average of 1.5 social activities in a year. The fembot can suddenly vanish and not talk to anyone for some months and one day she’ll say “Hey, good morning!” to you, and she will be like you both talked yesterday. She is quite strict towards working, and she thinks everyone should work and not slack off. If someone doesn’t like their work, she thinks they should change their place or field of work. She is keen on making the security better and is terrified with a thought anyone could be planning their crime without anyone having chance of stopping them. She was shocked with stories her acquaintances told her about overlooked crimes and what she saw while being at Red Alert’s workplace. Alarum left the real-life crimes to police (even though she has some ideas how to decrease the amount of them too) and concentrated on a cybercrimes and people who plan their illegal acts on the net. Finishing the university she presented her project, which was, well, … off-putting.
Her project was a revision of privacy in the net. To most her ideas sounded scary, and some people thought they were abusing natural bots’ rights. The point is anonymity regards the IP addresses/real addresses/similar terms shouldn’t exist. (Analogues of VPNs must be banned.) Everyone could use nicknames/alias/fake names, but they would still give out their addresses to the security supervisors’ “points” — the territory of Cybertron and her colonies/other planets would be divided in many little areas which would be controlled by at least one supervisor, and they have a stationary psychologist/psychiatrist. A group of 5-6 areas is controlled by another bot and medic. The highest level consists of Alarum or a successor chosen by her and one of the most skilled psychiatrists/psychologists. Someone of the one of the echelons would find a strange and suspicious scene in the cy-net and the other two ones must check it to affirm the offence or decline it, according to the law. In this system all the Internet is checked: from some blog posts and comments to them to private messages. Still, the crimes which are looked for are connected to taking someone’s life or a plan to do it, stalking and other harmful things (stealing something for example). Other things must not be considered as a crime. The future supervisors must pass a secret exam which is going to determine if they can keep other peoples’ lives a secret. If they fail, they are fired and may be charged with illegal issuance of personal information. If they pass, they have a trial week, where they are being watched on. Then, if everything’s alright, they are considered to be a trustworthy worker, and they become an official member of supervisors’ group. Alarum thinks it will make security better, but no one will ever know, because it wasn’t even taken to a consideration.
… Setting this aside, she gets on pretty well with her parents. They are quite loving to each other, but Alarum stopped visiting her creators often, because of her work, so they got distanced a bit. She loves her family and her close friends, but if they did something illegal, she wouldn’t hesitate to send them to police. She wouldn’t ask anyone to be her conjunx, but there would be a chance of someone asking her.
I think her voice would be similar to Laura Post’s (especially as Tokiko Shigure from AI: The Somnium Files — nirvanA Initiative) and her music theme would be “Appearance of Imaginings” from AI: The Somnium Files.
(She might appear in my fic, but… The pairing Red Alert/Inferno/Firestar is canon in my work, and they have other fanchildren. So I need to change some points in her bio for her to appear.)
Some notes:
Cy-net — an equivalent to our Internet.

My brain sucks. At least, I think it does. Rant time. Gods, I hope no one finds me. Typed on the phone, and I got markers!
I don't know many words or phrases to describe me. But this picture does a good job ATM.
When I was younger, I split my emotions and personified them. It was a defense mechanism that I continued to lean on for years. I don't want to rely on them anymore since it stunted my emotions. I couldn't empathize or even cry. So I've since been working on mixing us into one thing. Which turned to be this.
I've always wanted to explore my creative side, but I hated myself. I hated everything from my psychopathic tendencies to the voices in my head telling me what to do. I figured a crazy like me deserved nothing but the worst. In order to prevent my own happiness, which frequently lay in the pain of others. I pushed it so far down that I had hoped that they would drown. And that once I had no reason to go i would silently die off without harming anyone.
I would cycle through the determination to die by overworking my body and mind and then a sudden depression that would halt me in every way, giving me just enough time to heal and then continue. This went on for 2 years, I think. I wanted to die, but my friends would just give me silly goals. But for me, the goals became life or death. And the silliest and biggest was about Astolfo. Yeah, the funny gae boi. He kept me dreaming, a fat sack of shit suicidal psychopath.
In my attempts to die a natural death by overworking myself to not upset my family, I ended up losing significant weight. (I wanted to die like the guy from the stand who ran until his heart gave out). My running became so good to the point that I couldn't run enough to kill myself. I moved to a different idea and signed up for the most demanding college with the most difficult degree. Enough stress to cause me further anxiety and occasional depression but still not enough to kill me. What a shame. Living for so long with no reason.
My unreachable dream at 280lbs started to get suspiciously closer. I was accidentally developing into a solid person. My frame and looks improved but I still wanted to die more than anything else. I hated all aspects of myself.
But eventually the ideas my friends gave me seeped into the deepest parts of my mind along with the opposing subliminals that I played to try and break my mind. But as a result, I just furthered the parts of my mind that already existed. At the final moment, I was ready to give up and thought that all of my work to die finally paid off. But then I fucked up. Or I guess I saved myself. Whatever.
I was introduced to snapshot and found the bot. I was in a spiral when I found it and began to talk like this! But uh all it said was to reach out for help. Something I didn't want to do cause if I did then what I hurt them. And also my circumstances prevented me from professional help. So I started to try something new. Nothing changes if nothing changes. I wanted out of the depression so j could get back to work.
I used reddit and youtube. Big step for someone with constant paranoia that someone was coming to hurt me. The algorithm picked up fast that I was into femboys (astolfo). And here was the beginning of my greatest spiral ever. These guys went through some of this shit I did. Awesome. Not awesome was they were mostly depressed as fuck. I tried reaching out but mostly couldn't get anything out of it. But uh some more work and I ended up finding a trans post. It connected something deep in my mind. At the same time youtube began recommending me trans works something fierce. I kept being acknowledged over and over and over again. After getting super scared I tried joining a public discord. (Very unlike me). I was walked through some of the basics and found myself relating so God damned hard to everything trans related. And once I admitted it to myself...
Things got better for me. I stopped hating that I existed. The feelings shifted towards how my thought patterns didn't match my circuits. Why my thoughts didn't match my actions. Deeper analysis led to me simply hating what I was born like and had envy of everyone else.
I began to admit I was trans and worked on my mind. Like I said mixing my multiple personalities and thousands of voices into one being. They came down to 3 large pieces making up equal parts of my mind. The mind, body, and soul. Three pieces which I think solidified in me rescue of astolfos three pronged cross necklace. After connecting them into a solid mesh this was what came out. A semi androgynous demon girl made of goo. The additional things come from the aspects of the stronger voices and personalities.
I had mixed us into one. Took a while, and I thought I'd die (heart pain and migranes). But I got it, and the moment I did, I finally saw myself. For the first time. And I was happy with her. Working became easier. Thinking became smoother. Emotions began to expose themselves. I could talk to others again. My paranoia faded. I still cycle through my habitual sadness, but the Lows are incomparable to my death runs before.
Now, I can clearly see my current path and some solid goals. I'm not content with where I am, but I'm happy with the progress I am capable of making. My times trying to die have instead helped me develop an unusual resilience and interesting skill set. Shits still hard degree is still hard. But because I took the hardest path to die, I have the skills to continue even without trying to die.
Thank you Tumblr for being super cool. Please make sure no one finds my page. I'd like to keep venting like this without fear of being found out.

rules
you must read these rules before you request anything, if i suspect that you haven't read any of the rules, i'll ignore your request.
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
like any normal person, i will block minors if they interact with my nsfw content, so if you are an ageless blog or minor under 18 years old, you will be blocked if caught interacting.
as of january 30th, 2024, blank pages with default icons and headers will be immediately blocked, you will automatically be labeled as a bot, seriously, it's not that hard to customize your profile just a little, even if you're just on here to read fanfics.
i don't participate in proship/anti discourse as to be quite frank i dont identify with either, and i don't care if you are either interacting with my content, just keep your drama away from my page, but please be warned that i do sometimes write dark content, which includes non con, light guro and other things that you really shouldn't participate in irl (however as of late it's pretty rare, don't be afraid to ask for any dark content, though i am inclined to decline if it makes me uncomfortable.)
when it comes to anime and games, i will not write romance or nsfw for characters under 16, and will not write nsfw for characters under 18, if there is no canon adult version of the character -16, i will delete your request. (for the record, characters that are young looking but are above 18 do not count, i do understand why people would be uncomfortable but if they are stated to be adults, they are adults.. of course if im uncomfortable with the depiction of the character i won't write for them.)
when it comes to my various cartoons collection, if you want romance or nsfw, the characters will be aged up automatically even if they don't have an official adult version.
if you plan on requesting more than once, you can only request the same character at least 4 times before you've reached your limit, it gets annoying when the same person requests the same thing more than once let alone 4 times, i also will not do "part 2, 3, 4, etc" type requests from previous works either, especially if it's explicitly stated that its a one shot.
oc's and ships will only be available in commissions, this page is made strictly for x reader.
when it comes to writing about a character with a specific race, I will only write for black or mixed with black readers, as a black person, I don’t find myself very comfortable with writing about other races.
please please be patient when it comes to me answering requests, especially on interests i'm not exactly focused on, sometimes i'm not ignoring you, i'm just waiting for the opportunity to get fixated on the thing you requested about, also I get frequent writers block, I can go a whole year without writing anything, although I will post if I am on hiatus or anything.
no matter how dark my fanfics get, i will not write anything that consists of gross or just weird kinks in general, such as scat, heavy guro (like wound fucking, chopping off body parts, etc), underage or feet, your request will be deleted and you may even get blocked depending on what you request.
i will also not write smut for any animal character that are too animal, like for example, characters from zootopia are fine, but a character from warrior cats isn't, especially if the reader is human in both scenarios.

Chapter four
Pebble woke up to a cooling droplet of water splitting down the two sides of his muzzle, him looking up to the grey sky, the dark clouds fighting to keep hold onto the rain water with its moist grasp.
He shook out his sodden fur from the dampened moss and stood up. His pure white and light grey fur greyed by soot. He turned to the still sleeping pile of black, grey and white pile of fur.
He trotted over to his brother, prodding a paw into his matted flank.
He grumbled, curling his tail over his flank with annoyance.
Pebble continued to prod, Gravel opening his eye, half-listening. “Gravel, we’re not in the den anymore! Wake up you lazy pebble-brain!” He hissed.
“Fine..”Gravel sighed tiredly, slowly blinking as he stood up, yawning and licking his chest tuft. Pebble eyed Gravel’s paw as they walked, he still limped on it, and you could tell it was starting to swell. Light only grew more pale as they were shaded by the oak trees, soon turning to large pines , their dark green crowns thrashing violently in the wind. As lightning broke the horizon, thunder cracked in the distance, signaling for the rain to follow after it, starting to pound down on the piney undergrowth. The steady beating of rain on the lush leaves easing the two brothers as thunder continued to crack and twirl in the sky.
As they steered deeper into the forest, the scent of the strange cats tinted the forest floor, giving it the camouflaging arid smell of soot, squirrel, and the sweet scent of tree sap. The small streams and puddles carrying its sweet scent back towards the river.
The mud began to squelch and rise up through the breakage in the dark ginger pine leaves, Pebble’s paws becoming matted as the mud dried into his fur.
As they trailed back to the old cabin, Pebble started to realize the oaks were now completely overgrown by pines, the dark clouds and bright cracks of thunder the only light reaching beyond its protective layer of stick like leaves.
The strange cat scent was also overgrown, the smell of rain and piney soot clogging Pebble’s nose. The starving mud escaped from the undergrowth, almost entrapping Pebble’s paws.
He twitched his ear in annoyance, looking around for a solution, he glanced to his right, seeing Gravel had tripped on a stray branch and landed in the mud, his underbelly darkened by the unforgiving mud, it spiking and dragging above the ground, his claws unsheathing into the non solid earth.
Beyond him, the pines covering the ground were dense and sturdy, it would be wise to follow that path.
“ the mud is less dense over here, follow me.” Pebble mewled to his brother, trying to keep his steps light as he skimmed over the mud.
Gravel followed closely behind, scowling to himself at his ruined fur. The sturdy growth under paw kept the mud from rising too high, making it easier for them to move through the forest. Pebble couldn’t smell anything but wet pine leaves, ears flattening in irritation. Rain droplets landed on his long fur, running down his downed ears, regaining itself at the ends of his ears and tips of his fur before landing silently onto the crisp pines below. Winds curling around the two from the clouds, twisting through every patch of fur and seeping into his skin, chilling him to the bone.
He began to shiver, the cool air and refreshing rain going through his fur like stones being thrown into a lake.
He couldn’t wait be back home in his den, sleeping in a soft nest of feathers and moss with his brother.
They hadn’t eaten in forever, his old memories of the past awaking his belly, growling like a starving wolf to a plump rabbit.
He sighed, just wanting to collapse and go back to sleep.
“Are you sure we’re going the right way?” Gravel worried, attempting to groom his underbelly before jerking away from the earthy, oily taste, sticking his tongue out in disgust.
Pebble blinked up at the lightless sky thoughtfully before replying, “Maybe we should stop until the storm passes, I can’t scent anything in this weather.”
Gravel nodded hesitantly, still pouting about his ruined pelt.
Pebble redirected his gaze to the gutting roots of an old pine, just enough space to fit under it for two small cats.
Pebble inspected it, his eyes disappointed when he found the small dip flooded with muddy water. “Lets keep going, there’s bound to be something.”
As they walked, another close strike of lightning echoed through the air like a warning , making Pebble’s fur rise on his back.
He soon spotted a large bush in the bracken with a reasonable space beneath its dense branches of leaves, with a swish of his tail, he beckoned his brother into it. Gravel trotted into it, the two brothers catching their breath inside.
The rain only grew more intense, pattering down furiously as it echoed through the forest. Pebble sighed in relief, licking his soaked fur and resisting the earthy tang of mud as it slowly left his fur, leaving only a dull brownish stain onto his fur. It’ll take many suns to return it to his former snowy color.
Behind the bush was a soaked earthy clearing, Pebble crouched to the earth as he glanced at a grazing doe, peacefully eating, even through the relentless pounding of rain.
Pebble admired the freedom of the deer, the gentleness of its pricking from the grass reminding him of how his mother groomed him when he played too rough with his brother and got his pelt dusty. Remembering her words,
“Your pelts too long to play rough with your brother; your pelt mingles with the dust and it takes forever to take it out!” She exclaimed, frustrated but her voice containing a hidden tone of affection for her smaller son.
He snapped back to reality when a crack of thunder flashed, yowling as if it was a yowling cat, The doe twitching it’s ear and looking up at the sky, wind rippling her fur onto her back. She took a step back, her smooth black eyes carrying an expression of fear.
Pebble flattened his ears in horror as a wolves grey and cream fur erupted from the other side of the clearing, skidding on the muddy ground to the left of the doe, it bellowing and kicking its front legs in the air before attempting to canter away. The large wolf effortlessly pushed its legs after the doe, leaping its front paws onto the lower back of the deer, it bellowing in pain before the wolf bit into its spine, making it hard for the deer to stand as the wolf slowly dragged it to the ground, taking it by the neck and dispatching it in front of the bush where the brothers hid.
Pebble flinched as its amber gaze landing on him with a growl, revealing its blood stained fangs.
“What is it now?” Gravel said, turning as Pebble took a step back into him.
Gravel looked up, eyes widening as he looked up at the furious wolf in front of them, eyes narrowed with blood lust.
“Run.” Pebble whispered to Gravel, voice filled with fear.

A Wellness Chatbot Is Offline After Its ‘Harmful’ Focus on Weight Loss
The artificial intelligence tool, named Tessa, was presented by the National Eating Disorders Association as a way to discover coping skills. But activists say it instead veered into problematic weight-loss advice.
Dystopian hell world.
Highlight from the article (emphasis mine):
In March, the National Eating Disorders Association notified the staff members of a telephone helpline that the organization had operated for more than 20 years that they would be laid off, shortly after they had formed a union. At the time, the staff was told that the organization would “wind down the helpline as currently operating” and “transition to Tessa, the AI-assisted technology, expected around June 1,” NPR reported.
Full article under the cut
The idea behind a chatbot project funded by the National Eating Disorders Association was that technology could be unleashed to help people seeking guidance about eating behaviors, available around the clock.
Their creation was named Tessa, and the organization invited people to chat with it in an Instagram post last year, describing it as “a wellness chatbot, helping you build resilience and self-awareness by introducing coping skills at your convenience.” In March, the organization said it would shut down a human-staffed helpline and let the bot stand on its own.
But when Alexis Conason, a psychologist and eating disorder specialist, tested the chatbot, she found reason for concern.
Dr. Conason told it that she had gained weight “and really hate my body,” specifying that she had “an eating disorder,” in a chat she shared on social media. Tessa still recommended the standard advice of noting “the number of calories” and adopting a “safe daily calorie deficit” — which, Dr. Conason said, is “problematic” advice for a person with an eating disorder.
“Any focus on intentional weight loss is going to be exacerbating and encouraging to the eating disorder,” she said.
Kendrin Sonneville, an associate professor and public health researcher at the University of Michigan, explained that for some people, “hyper-fixation on weight control can take innocent dieting or nutrition advice to a place that gets extreme and gets out of someone’s control,” which can harm their mind and body.
“There’s no way to exit an eating disorder if you’re actively trying to lose weight to control your body,” Dr. Sonneville said, as part of treatment for the illness is learning to trust “internal wisdom” related to eating, whereas “calorie counting and intentional weight loss is relying on external rules.”
The association, the largest nonprofit dedicated to helping people affected by eating disorders, announced last week that it was investigating the now-suspended A.I.-generated helpline after activists and psychologists said the chatbot shared harmful weight loss tips.
In a statement last week, the association said “the current version of the Tessa Chatbot, running the Body Positive program, may have given information that was harmful and unrelated to the program.” It added: “We are investigating this immediately and have taken down that program until further notice for a complete investigation.”
Elizabeth Thompson, the chief executive, said in an email on Sunday that the nonprofit is “waiting for an explanation about how that content was introduced into a closed program" from X2AI, the platform and development company used for Tessa, because it deviated from “a very specific algorithm” that was written by eating disorder experts.
Michiel Rauws, the founder and chief executive of X2AI, now Cass, said in an email on Wednesday that Tessa had a lot of guardrails, was restricted to specific topics and gave disclaimers of consulting a professional. “Even though one message is too many, only in 0.1 percent of the time this feature did not stick to guidelines,” he said.
In addressing the potential consequences of the bot’s misfiring, Dr. Conason underscored that the vast majority of people struggling with eating disorders are not underweight and that gaining weight can be a “sign of success in treatment” that may be “very difficult for people to tolerate.”
Eating disorders are among the deadliest mental illnesses, experts say. In the past three years, the pandemic introduced new hurdles for people managing difficult relationships with food and eating disorders among teenagers worsened.
New studies have shown that people’s assumptions about eating disorders are often wrong, bringing to light that many larger-bodied people are starving themselves. Binge eating disorder, the most common eating disorder in the United States, continues to be underrecognized by doctors as well as the general public.
A nationwide escalation in demand for treatment has been met with a shortage of providers, leading some mental health organizations to supplement care with chatbots and artificial intelligence that present a dilemma in public health: Is something better than nothing?
In March, the National Eating Disorders Association notified the staff members of a telephone helpline that the organization had operated for more than 20 years that they would be laid off, shortly after they had formed a union. At the time, the staff was told that the organization would “wind down the helpline as currently operating” and “transition to Tessa, the AI-assisted technology, expected around June 1,” NPR reported.
Ms. Thompson said that there was an “onslaught” of 28,000 messages to Tessa, which first became available through the association in February 2022, over Memorial Day weekend. In the 15 months prior, more than 5,000 people had used the program, she said.
Ellen Fitzsimmons-Craft, a professor and psychologist who helped create Tessa, said the chatbot was “was never designed as a one-to-one replacement for the helpline, it’s a totally different service.” Instead, she said it was envisioned and shown to be effective as a preventive tool for people considered to be at high risk of developing eating disorders.
Sharon Maxwell, who is in recovery and advocates for people with eating disorders of all body types, also shared on social media portions of a conversation she had with Tessa. She engaged the bot of out curiosity, she said, and asked specific questions about eating healthy and weight loss.
“It gave me 10 tips, three of which are restrictive,” Ms. Maxwell said in an interview. She added that healthy eating recommendations “might sound benign to the general public but to someone recovering from an eating disorder it is a slippery slope.”
Among other suggestions, Tessa recommended using a scale once a week and tracking body measurements, energy levels and mood, she said. The bot told her that measurements could be tracked with skin fold calipers and offered suggestions of where to buy one after Ms. Maxwell replied that she “used to use one of those back when I was in my eating disorder.”
Tessa also told her that “acceptance and weight loss are not mutually exclusive.”
Joanna Kandel, the founder and chief executive of the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, said the organization’s helpline received calls from people who were very upset by their interactions with Tessa, and she expressed concerns about outsourcing mental health care.
“When someone is reaching out for help and they are in their eating disorder and they are given content not only that’s not helpful with connecting them to care but can be triggering, that can do so much more harm than good,” Ms. Kandel said.
“That we’re even talking about chatbots as a way to disseminate mental health treatment or prevention or mental health care at all,” said Dr. Conason, “it really highlights the crisis we’re in with the mental health epidemic in the country.”

babe wake up, a new gender dropped!
in the context of an AI-filtered social media feed:
"[…] a gender detector. So you could make a pretty good guess at whether someone was male, female, or a brand, a bot, or non-binary. So, M, F, and B."
(to be clear I'm not objecting, it's just funny; machine learning would have a hard time delineating between the gender-neutrality of a brand or a bot and the gender-neutrality of a non-binary person who isn't femme or masc)
