When you like a book serie a normal amount and work in a bookshop in France.
Translation: *Harrow deep in a speech*

Thank you for your blog!
Do you know good fics about John&Paul's first trip to París in 1961?
Thank you for asking!
Ah...Paris 1961. *drifts off into sweet daydreams*
My favorite Paris '61 fic is When You are Young They Assume You Know Nothing by Lily_Padd_23. And it's nearly 27K words long!
I also really enjoyed I've Seen You, Beauty by bakerstreetafternoon. This one is from the perspective of Jürgen Vollmer, who plays host to John and Paul during their trip.
And I loved these two linked stories by @waveofahand: Bed-Wrestling and Secrets Shared Amid the Spun Glass and The French Kiss.
And here is a sweet story about John talking in his sleep, which ends with them waking up in Paris...: mr. moonlight (come again please) by milaway.
More Paris fic recommendations are on the blog of the fantastically organized @whenyourbirdisbroken (their pinned post has a great overview by category, and I'm in awe...!).

just had what is now hands-down the BEST customer interaction of my bookselling career which is that i was ringing a customer up for a copy of iron flame by rebecca yarros (very hyped fantasy sequel) and the customer said "yeah i preordered a copy but my cat ate it" and turned around to show said cat being carried in one of those bubble-backpacks. (his name was binks and he was very cute despite the bibliovore tendencies.)

I was a lonely child. I didn't know how to make a lot of friends and my parents never intended to help me make friends. They always saw friendships as potentially bad influences. So I stayed at home alone most of the time. I made my dogs custard pie as treats and had tea with them as they sat in the grass looking towards the sun. I talked to them. Mostly, I told them that they were all equally the best dogs in the whole world. I repeated this mantra daily so they would eventually believe it.
I also thought I didn't need anyone. I thought friends were always temporary because, according to movies I had seen and what my mother told me, friendships always end. Either someone lets someone else down or they disagree or move away. Whatever the reasons may be, friendships end.
I craved companionship and despised it at the same time. I thought it was a weakness to want friends so badly, but I couldn't help myself. I would change my whole self to make someone my age want to talk to me. I would agree with their every decision and whim. I would talk badly about the girls they talked badly about and I was utterly devastated when they moved away or didn't talk to me anymore.
There were a few years where I didn't talk to anyone. I used to keep a journal, but I couldn't even keep that because my parents would rummage through my drawers and shelves. I was scared of being found out. I was scared that people would find out how much I wanted a friend. I kept in touch with my childhood best friend Lin. She was the only person I had. Apart from her, I read books and went for long walks with dogs and cried myself to sleep at night.
Now that I'm an adult, I have friends. I have people who I call and people who call me. We meet for lunch or coffee or dinner. We tell each other about things that make us sad or happy. We let our defenses down. My friendships are a big sigh of relief. This is the companionship I always hoped for. I always wanted people to talk to me and listen when I needed to speak. I wanted to meet people and have a mutual understanding and curiosity to find out more.
We, none of us, are islands. Only islands, with all their natural resources, can survive alone in an ocean. Humans need others. We have to connect ourselves to a community to avoid drifting away from society and becoming loners who don't know how to love or accept love. We need to find out tribe so we can endure the worst storms of life with people who tell us that it's going to be okay.

The most baffling fucking thing about amazon becoming the fucking capitalist existential horror it is, is how fucking hostile and unusable the site is. like i only had to be told once to never even consider using it again and every time i almost break i instantly give up because it's fucking impossible to find anything on it. the graphic design is the ugliest and shadiest i've seen on a site that isn't a blatant scam. there are next to no filtering options, half the results you get aren't even actual offers but??? I don't even now what exactly. a page letting you know about the concept of the book you're looking for? I know it fucking exist I'm trying to buy it. You have to make an account to learn the price of shipping. Once you add something to your cart you can't check what shop it's from, you can't even click on it to see THE ACTUAL PRODUCT to check the description, it just redirects you to the most expensive offer of a somewhat similar thing. but worry not, there's tiny print informing you there's a number of cheaper offers. what number? oh, it doesn't matter. what actually shows when you click on it could be anything from 4 times more to absolutely none. you might think it would make more sense to have all these offers just fucking show up when you search for them, wouldn't it? But that would require actually showing the lowest prices when you sort low to high and that's just unacceptable I guess.
I'm starting to think the whole thing is a joke i'm not in on because I refuse to believe the least intuitive and shittiest ecommerce site in existence made the richest man on earth
