The Stories That Made You
It’s odd to be older
Than those that you’ve grown with
Those stories that rest on your shoulder
The adventures you went on without a hitch
A protagonist you saw grow up before you
Now stays in folded pages, younger than your days
It’s a thought that comes, jarring but true
That even though you grow, they will forever stay
Those heroes that made you who you are
Stuck forever never changing
So close and yet so far.

This is How You Lose The Time War
“I want to meet you in every place I ever loved. Listen to me. I am your echo. I would rather break the world than lose you”
Thus begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents hellbent on securing the best possible future for their warring factions. Now, what began as a taunt, a battlefield boast, becomes something more. Something epic. Something romantic. Something that could change the past and the future.
Except the discovery of their bond would mean the death of each of them. There’s still a war going on, after all. And someone has to win. That’s how war works, right?
Cowritten by two beloved and award-winning sci-fi writers, This Is How You Lose the Time War is an epic love story spanning time and space.
This book has found it’s place in my top ten books of 2021. What can I say about this book, which makes for a good review, rather than just a long gush fest? Let’s try, shall we?
Well first of all, it’s sci-fi, but that’s not what the book is really about. It’s a love story, but also more than that. Not your typical enemies to lovers story, it’s a tale of how two agents have formed a bond with each other, which spans across time and space. It is a relatively short book, only 198 pages long, but it definitely manages to do the story justice. I found it to be fulfilling, and enjoyable. The writing was poetic, without being pretentious.
While I enjoyed the sci-fi element of the story, I did struggle a bit to fully get my head around the world building. But Blue and Red’s love story was such a strong anchor, that I would still give this book 5 stars ⭐️

What are some of your favorite fairy tale retellings?
I can't get enough of myth and fairy tale retellings. They are amazing. I just finished Lore by Alexandra Bracken and love how it's a modern retelling (because we can't have enough), but felt something was missing and I dont know what it was. But I really liked it nevertheless.
I featured two older books that are retellings that are super close to the original myths AND they're super good. I definitely recommend these: Beauty and the Beast by Robin Mckinley and Zel by Donna Jo Napoli.

It's weird and nostalgic when you stumble  across your old fave book and realize how much you've changed.

Living under a rock? Of course I do!
You know that feeling you get when something magical happens? When your body feels like if could float and a million little currents are under your skin? And you smile that huge donkey-butt smile? If you do..great! If not that’s okay too! I felt that way when I discovered tumblr today and discovered booklur! Now you might be thinking..does she live under a rock?! Well, yes I do..welllll..kinda. I had a room in a basement..if that counts.
So here I am! *waves* Hi world! Welcome to my not so famous life as a clumsy, nerdy, shy, awkward book addict! And I hope YOU (if anyone is reading this) enjoy the glimpses into my life and my books!

Currently reading emergency contact by Mary H.K Choi.
So far I like it enough but I'm not impressed. I'm about 90 pages in and while the story itself is fine, the characters are kind of "meh." I'm trying to like any of them but the characters in this all seem like they'd be garbage human beings irl. Mainly Penny.
I don't know.
You know how people say young adult books or new adult books are just meant for that age group? This is the first YA/NA book I've read as an adult that's made me go, "you know, maybe you're right about this one book."
Just my thoughts.
I want to review this book fully once I'm actually done reading it so stay tuned darlings.

Going to try rereading this book. I hated it when I read it at 17 for my AP English class. However I want to see if my hatred stemmed from spending months dissecting it. I honestly don’t remember reading any other books for my AP English class…

STOP! BLOG ALERT! BLOG ALERT!
I have a new blog. I'll be posting fandom stuff, book reviews and my Divergent story on it if you're interested. I'd love it if you'd give the follow button a little tickle. Oh and the title is in Russian but all of the posts will be in English (I'm learning Russian and it makes me look educated).
